Chapter 86

On the second day, Ning Junyan still showed up on time for the birthday banquet of old man Ning. The birthday banquet was actually not a big deal, but just a gathering of the family for lunch, but this year there were many relatives coming, so they decided to reserve three tables in the restaurant in a hurry.

When Ning Junyan arrived, his distant relatives greeted him warmly. Although his response was not enthusiastic, it was polite enough. He was regarded as the best of the younger generation of the Ning family, and even if he was a little cold at ordinary times, his relatives would never feel offended.

Ning Zhanghong was sitting and talking with one of Ning Junyan’s cousins at this time, and Ning Junyan did not see Shu Rong beside him.

Ning Junyan greeted the elders first, and then asked Ning Zhanghong, “Where is Mother?”

Ning Zhanghong glanced at him and said, “She still has some things to deal with, and will come here later.”

Ning Junyan went to congratulate his grandfather on his birthday again.

Grandpa Ning took his hand to ask him to sit beside him, and asked in a low voice, “Are you okay?”

Ning Junyan said, “Who are you asking about, Grandpa?”

Grandpa Ning said, “Of course it’s you and your mother. I haven’t seen her today.”

Ning Junyan answered him, “Yuncheng and I are fine. I haven’t seen Mother today, so I don’t know how she is.”

Grandpa Ning felt a little emotional, patted the back of Ning Junyan’s hand with his thin hand, and then let go of him.

Before Ning Junyan got up, his lively cousin came over to talk to him again, asking him about his graduate studies, asking him about his postgraduate studies, so he talked to his cousin in a low voice for a few minutes until he saw Shu Rong hurrying in.

Shu Rong was a little haggard. Although her make-up and hair were neatly done, she was wearing a decent dress, and smiled warmly as soon as she approached, but Ning Junyan could still see the fatigue on her face.

In front of so many relatives, Shu Rong didn’t say anything to Ning Junyan but just greeted everyone and then took the initiative to order the waiter to prepare the dishes.

After lunch, all the guests were sent away.

Ning Junyan called out to Shu Rong in the parking lot, “Mom.”

Shu Rong looked at him sullenly.

Shu Rong drove a car by herself today, and she still had something to deal with in the afternoon, so she asked Ning Zhangyu and the others to send Ning Zhanghong back.

Ning Zhangyu and his husband drove a seven-seater SUV. Before leaving the parking lot, the car stopped when it passed Shu Rong and Ning Junyan.

The window of the back seat was lowered, and Ning Zhanghong raised his head and said to them, “Let’s talk about what you have to do when you get back.” It seemed that they were afraid that Ning Junyan and Shu Rong would start arguing here.

Shu Rong gently lifted the shoulder bag on her shoulder and said, “I won’t go back for now. I have something to do in the afternoon.”

Grandpa Ning was also in this car, sitting side by side with Ning Zhanghong, trying to stick his head over, and said, “Junyan, don’t quarrel with your mother here.”

Ning Junyan said, “I won’t, Grandpa, you guys go back first.”

Ning Zhanghong sighed and said to his brother-in-law who was driving, “Let’s go first.”

The SUV slowly drove away from the two of them.

Ning Junyan asked Shu Rong again, “Are you okay?”

Shu Rong sneered, “I thought you didn’t care about me at all.”

Ning Junyan said: “It’s not that I don’t care about you, it’s you who care about me beyond the limit.”

Shu Rong turned her face away from him, was silent for a while, and asked, “That Yu Jie. Chen Yuncheng knows him very well, right?”

Ning Junyan frowned slightly, “Yuncheng doesn’t know him very well. He just knew him in the past. What? Do you have some business going on with him? What’s going on at your new hospital?”

Shu Rong said, “I don’t have any business dealings with him.” She paused for a moment, squeezing the strap of her bag tightly with one hand, “It’s just that the building we rented for the new hospital was introduced through him.”

In the beginning, Shu Rong and her partner Zhang Chong had already talked to Yu Jie about investing in a branch of the plastic surgery hospital. Later, Ning Junyan mentioned to Shu Rong that there was something wrong with Yu Jie, and Shu Rong became more thoughtful. After some discussion with Zhang Chong, they pushed Yu Jie aside.

It was said to be a plastic surgery hospital, but in fact, it was just a beauty salon with micro-plastic surgery programs, and the scale was not significant. At that time, they had already contacted an address through Yu Jie to open a new hospital. The two-story building was originally a private dental hospital, and the conditions were suitable in all aspects. Even the renovation did not require significant changes. They were delighted with the building and wanted to continue negotiating the lease with each other.

Yu Jie showed great generosity. Although the business could not be done, he took the initiative to act as a middleman for them and introduced a person in charge of the floor leasing project of the other company, surnamed Wang. Shu Rong then signed a contract with the other party and paid a large amount of rent in advance.

Everything seemed to be going well until two days ago when the renovation was in progress, and she met another team of people who said that they had also signed a contract with the other company to rent the building and were now ready to move in for the renovation.

Shu Rong hurriedly contacted the company’s person in charge, who said that the person was on a business trip and would not be able to return for the time being and would help her contact the company to inquire about the situation. After two days, Zhang Chong was worried and went to the company to find the person, only to find out that the project leader surnamed Wang, hadn’t come to work for many days. The lease contract they signed was probably a fake, and all the official seals on it had been stolen by the manager surnamed Wang.

Ning Junyan held the car keys in his hand and heard Shu Rong talk about the current situation; millions of dollars in rent had been paid, but there was no way to enter the venue for renovations. They had reported it to the police, but they didn’t know if they could recover the money.

“Yuncheng asked me to tell you that there is something wrong with Yu Jie,” Ning Junyan said in a low and serious tone.

Shu Rong raised her head and looked at him, “I checked Yu Jie, and he has no criminal record. On the surface, he seems to be a clean businessman. Isn’t he more reliable than Chen Yuncheng?”

Ning Junyan said, “You still think so?”

Shu Rong’s tone was a little hasty, “I went to find Yu Jie, but he said he didn’t know where Wang had gone, and he was adamant that he had nothing to do with the incident.”

Ning Junyan looked at her, “Since you trust him so much, then I have nothing to say.”

Shu Rong reached out and grabbed Ning Junyan’s arm, “It’s not that I want to trust him. I have no choice now, and the key to solving the problem is to find that person surnamed Wang.”

Ning Junyan asked her, “Don’t you pay rent by transferring money to a corporate account?”

Shu Rong said, “There was a problem with the account he gave. At that time, his procedures were too complete, and his identity was not faked. We never thought of doubting him. How did we know he would do such a thing? And now we can’t get this building, we’ve spent so much money before and after on the renovations we have booked, and we also have ordered beauty equipment in preparation. Now, we have to raise another sum of money to rent another place, and there is no way to turn around.” Her greatest fear was that her flow of capital would break, and she would not be able to repay the bank loan in time, which would then become more and more troublesome.

Ning Junyan looked at Shu Rong in silence. There was no good solution to the problem except gaining money. Even if the police had arrested the person, they might not be able to recover the money.

Shu Rong answered the phone and drove away in a hurry.

Ning Junyan didn’t have a job in the afternoon, so he drove directly to the trade market to find Chen Yuncheng. When Ning Junyan arrived, Chen Yuncheng was sorting out the order form with Wu Xiaozhu and asked him to go inside to rest by himself.

After a while, Chen Yuncheng finished the work in hand, went into the inner room and saw Ning Junyan lying on his single bed with a pair of long legs stretched out, and his feet almost reached the railing at the end.

Chen Yuncheng stretched out his hand to close the door. He then walked over to the bed and knelt down to look at him, “What’s wrong?”

Ning Junyan stretched out his hand towards him.

Chen Yuncheng couldn’t help but look back to make sure the door was closed, then hugged Ning Junyan and squeezed into the narrow bed with him.

“Are we going to break the bed?” Chen Yuncheng was inexplicably worried.

Ning Junyan said, “Guan Anlin shares the same bed with you every day, and the board of your bed hasn’t collapsed.”

Chen Yuncheng felt a little helpless, “Let’s sleep in two beds, shall we?”

Ning Junyan didn’t speak. He stared at the wooden bedboard above as if in a daze.

Chen Yuncheng felt that Ning Junyan had something on his mind, so he asked again, “What’s wrong?”

Ning Junyan said, “I’ll sell the current house now.”

Chen Yuncheng sat up and looked at him, “Didn’t we say we wouldn’t sell it?”

Ning Junyan folded his hands under his head and looked at him, “My current house was bought for me by my parents when I first came back from abroad.”

Chen Yuncheng tried to understand what he meant, “You don’t want to live in the house they bought for you.”

Ning Junyan didn’t mention Shu Rong’s business matters but simply said, “My mother just needs a sum of money, so I can just sell the house and return the money to her.”

       Chen Yuncheng did not speak.

Ning Junyan looked at him, “Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Chen Yuncheng thought for a while, “I don’t think you need to be so clear-cut with them. They are your parents, after all.”

Ning Junyan shook his head, “That’s not what I meant. It just so happened that she needed money, and that’s why I thought about this.”

“How much does she need?” Chen Yuncheng recalled the call Shu Rong answered last night and knew that there must be a problem with her business, “I’ll get you some money first, okay? You don’t have to sell the house, do you?”

Ning Jun extended his arms to hug him and asked him to lie on his chest, “It’s not that I have to sell the house, but I want to do it.”

Chen Yuncheng kind of understands Ning Junyan’s thoughts. Ning Junyan wanted to repay the financial debt he owed his parents. Of course, it was not just a house debt, but if he could repay some, he could gain more autonomy.

“But I still don’t think it’s necessary. Where do you plan to live after you sell the house?” Chen Yuncheng asked him.

Ning Junyan answered quickly, “Live here with you.”

       “Then what about Guan Anlin?”

“Tell him to get lost.” Ning Junyan replied with an expressionless and straightforward face, probably wanting to say this for a long time.

Chapter 85

Shu Rong was a person who cared about her reputation very much. She had always been unwilling to let her relatives and friends see her disputes with her husband and son. No matter what, she hoped that in the eyes of others, she was a woman with a rich life and a happy family.

The Ning family also treated her very well. Ning Zhanghong was the eldest in the family, and his mother had died young, so all the younger siblings, children and nephews in the family respected her, and even old man Ning had always been very gentle with her.

It was the first time that Shu Rong had acted so emotionally in front of the Ning family because she felt that Ning Junyan was gradually getting out of her control. She was a little helpless, and she needed more people to stand by her side and help her bring her son back.

Ning Junyan didn’t understand what else Shu Rong wanted to hear from him, and he felt that what he said was clear enough. So he frowned lightly and asked Shu Rong, “What else do you want me to say?”

Shu Rong looked at her grown-up son and asked, “Is whatever Mom says today no use? Must you be with him?”

Ning Junyan patiently answered her, “It seems so.”

Shu Rong said, “Let me ask you, have you ever thought about the consequences if you are with a man?”

Ning Junyan, who had been holding Chen Yuncheng’s hand without letting go, asked, “What consequences are you referring to?”

Shu Rong said, “Of course I’m talking about your job, your career!”

Ning Junyan thought about it seriously, “I don’t think it will make a difference. The surgery I can do is still the only one I can do. Will it change anything?”

Seeing Shu Rong’s distraught look, Ning Zhangyu couldn’t help but stand up and gently held Shu Rong’s arm, and said to Ning Junyan, “Junyan, many unpleasant words might spread through the hospital, and it’s inevitable that it will affect you then.”

Ning Junyan looked at her, “Anything said by people who don’t matter will not affect me.” After that, he said to Shu Rong with a bit of annoyance, “What you’re talking about isn’t actually about how it’ll affect me; it’s just how it’ll affect you. Those aren’t things I would care about.”

Shu Rong asked him sternly, “So you don’t care about Mom at all?”

Ning Junyan stared at her and said, “If you feel that it has a great impact on your life, I can introduce you to a psychologist.”

“Junyan!” Ning Zhanghong said, his voice still a little sickly hoarse, “You’re going overboard talking to Mom like that.”

Chen Yuncheng saw that Shu Rong’s eyes were red and gently pulled Ning Junyan’s hand.

Ning Junyan turned to look at Chen Yuncheng, reached into his own pocket, took out the car key and stuffed it into Chen Yuncheng’s hand as he said, “If you don’t want to stay here, go wait for me in the car, I’ll be there soon.”

Chen Yuncheng looked down at the car keys and said, “I’ll wait for you.”

The expression on Ning Junyan’s face did not change, but he squeezed Chen Yuncheng firmly, and Chen Yuncheng felt that he was a little happy.

Shu Rong tried her best to control her emotions, but her voice still trembled slightly as she asked Ning Junyan, “What if I want you to choose between him and your family today?”

Ning Junyan asked her, “Does the family mean you or everyone in the family today?”

Shu Rong said in a cold voice, “Everyone in the family.”

Ning Junyan didn’t answer her question immediately but turned to look at Grandpa.

Grandpa Ning kept stroking his purple clay pot, and then he said, “Daughter-in-law, there’s no need.”

Shu Rong turned to look at him, “Dad! You must stand by my side at this time, and you can’t just let him do whatever he wants!”

Grandpa Ning said slowly, “This is not the way to solve the problem.”

Ning Zhangyu also persuaded Shu Rong, “Sister-in-law, you are only pushing Junyan out like this. What’s the point?”

Shu Rong’s attitude was unyielding. As she saw that neither the old man nor Ning Zhangyu supported her, she turned around and asked Ning Zhanghong, “What do you say?”

Ning Zhanghong sighed and said to Ning Junyan, “Don’t be stubborn.”

Ning Junyan still looked calm as he said, “I think Mom’s question is rather capricious, and I won’t make a choice. It was supposed to be different feelings that didn’t contradict each other, just like no child will ask the mother to choose between the father and themselves.” He looked at Shu Rong, “Just like you and Dad become a family in the long run, I too, will have my own family in the future. I will return to visit you, and we will still be family, but I can only live with the person I love for the rest of my life.”

“What lifetime!” Shu Rong said angrily, “You won’t even last a lifetime!”

Chen Yuncheng originally didn’t want to talk, but at this moment, he couldn’t help but say, “We can.”

       Shu Rong looked at him.

Chen Yuncheng persisted under her extremely unfriendly gaze, “Auntie, it doesn’t matter whether you think highly of me or not. As long as Ning Junyan doesn’t let go, I will live with him.”

Just as Shu Rong was about to speak, the mobile phone in her bag on the sofa rang suddenly. She looked at Chen Yuncheng with red eyes, turned around to find the mobile phone, hung it up and put it on the table.

But just after she hung up the phone, her cell phone rang again, ringing more sharply than before.

Ning Zhangyu intentionally asked her to adjust her mood and said, “Sister-in-law, answer the phone first.”

Shu Rong glanced at the caller ID, took a deep breath and connected the phone, and her voice sounded much calmer when she spoke, “Hello?”

It was not clear what the person on the other side was saying. He sounded very impatient and spoke quickly. He spoke for nearly half a minute before stopping.

Shu Rong’s face turned paler than it had just been, and she said, “Are you sure?”

Ning Zhanghong sat on the sofa and looked up at her, “What’s wrong?”

Shu Rong didn’t answer, and she still concentrated on listening to the person on the phone. After another few tens of seconds, she said, “I’m coming over now.” Then she hung up the phone.

“Sister-in-law?” Ning Zhangyu called her softly.

Shu Rong held the phone tightly in her hand, her expression was briefly at a loss, and then she turned around and picked up her bag. She no longer looked at Ning Junyan and Chen Yuncheng but said to Grandpa Ning, “Dad, I have something to do first.”

Ning Zhanghong asked, “What’s the rush?”

Shu Rong said to him, “The matter of opening a new hospital, I’ll tell you about it when I return later.”

Ning Zhangyu asked her, “How are you going to get there? Do you want Huang Jin to give you a lift?”

“No need.” Shu Rong was already stepping on her high heels and walking outside, “I’ll take a taxi by myself.” She walked in a hurry, and soon her figure disappeared outside the door.

Chen Yuncheng looked at Ning Junyan.

       Ning Junyan said, “Let’s go.”

No one stopped them this time, but when Ning Junyan was about to leave the house with Chen Yuncheng’s hand in his, Ning Zhangyu asked him, “Junyan, will you be back tomorrow?”

Ning Junyan stopped, turned around and said, “Of course I will come back.”

Ning Zhangyu nodded, and she said, “You can take your time talking to your mother, don’t make the relationship so strained.”

Ning Junyan just said, “I know.”

When they came out of the house and walked towards the parking space, Ning Junyan kept holding onto Chen Yuncheng’s hand. Chen Yuncheng felt that his walking posture was very brisk and seemed to be a little excited instead of unhappy.

Chen Yuncheng didn’t quite understand what he was excited about.

There were no street lights near the parking space, and they walked to the Land Rover. Ning Junyan suddenly pressed Chen Yuncheng against the car door, pinched his chin and kissed him forcefully.

Chen Yuncheng was baffled being kissed by Ning Junyan in the dim light of the neighbourhood, feeling his intense emotions until after a while. Chen Yuncheng felt that Ning Junyan had no intention of stopping, so he raised his hand and pushed him away.

“What’s wrong?” Chen Yuncheng’s lips were moist and red, panting slightly.

Ning Junyan raised his hand to touch his face, and the two of them got closer. Chen Yuncheng saw the smile in Ning Junyan’s eyes.

Chen Yuncheng felt strange, “What are you happy about?”

Ning Junyan said, “You just said you wanted to stay with me for the rest of your life.”

These words were originally said by Chen Yuncheng to Shu Rong, but now that Ning Junyan mentioned them in a serious manner, he suddenly felt embarrassed. He turned away and tried to change the subject, “I think you can be a little more tactful when talking to your mother and communicate more one time.”

“She doesn’t really care that much,” Ning Junyan said.

Chen Yuncheng was stunned and asked, “Why do you think so?”

Ning Junyan said, “She has many things that she cares about more, like her business.”

Chen Yuncheng thought of the figure of Shu Rong, who left in a hurry after receiving the call just now, and he suddenly felt sorry for Ning Junyan. He then asked him, “Was she like this when you were young?”

Ning Junyan looked at him, “What?”

Chen Yuncheng thought for a while and tried to describe how he felt, “Having high demands of you, but not really caring enough.”

Ning Junyan said, “She is very busy every day, busy with business and making money outside, but she checks my homework and assignments regularly and arranges tutorial classes for me every day. Actually, there is very little communication between us.” When he said this, Ning Junyan looked at Chen Yuncheng and did not continue.

Chen Yuncheng couldn’t bear his too-focused gaze, and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Ning Junyan raised his arms and hugged him tightly, “Wife, you can’t do this to me.”

Chen Yuncheng panicked, “What? What did I do to you?”

Ning Junyan looked like he was very aggrieved, “You can’t be too busy with your business and leave me alone.”

Chen Yuncheng had no choice but to hug him too, “No, I won’t leave you alone.”

Ning Junyan kissed him under his ear and said, “So it’s actually useless to communicate with my mother, the best way is to tell her with facts that I’m doing well and I’m happy.”

Chen Yuncheng smiled faintly and gently patted Ning Junyan’s back.

Notes:
Don’t some of us have that kind of mother that you know whatever you say to her, she just won’t understand, and the best way to “talk” to them is to show that your way is better?

Chapter 46

Suo Yang did not like to express his feelings and was not very good at it. For Suo Yang, those sweet words were not so easy to say, and Shen Huiming knew this very well.

From the time they got acquainted to the time they fell in love, Suo Yang only said only a handful of cringy words, but on this night, when Shen Huiming was working till dizzy, Suo Yang seemed to have finally opened himself up and willing to confess his deepest feelings to him.

For Suo Yang, liking someone might not be the most challenging thing. Admitting that he likes the person was the most difficult thing.

But now, he was willing to admit and tell the other party.

Because he wanted Shen Huiming to be happy, and on a busy and exhausting evening, a little bit of happiness might make life a little bit easier.

Shen Huiming didn’t expect that his little tricks in Moscow would be discovered like that. Now Suo Yang said such sweet words with a gentle smile in his eyes, but he felt a little embarrassed.

“So I was found out.” Shen Huiming chuckled, “I didn’t dare to hold it too much at the time because I was afraid I would annoy you when you woke up.”

Suo Yang was actually a little sorry. He could feel that Shen Huiming had put a lot of thought into him. Shen Huiming’s life was not easy, and being tossed by him like this must be so tiring.

He squeezed Shen Huiming’s hand, “Hurry up and eat. The food will be cold later.”

Shen Huiming nodded with a smile and ate obediently.

The love talk was over, and the stomach was full after dinner.

Shen Huiming continued to work at the table, and Suo Yang tidied up the lunch box and threw it away.

When he came back from throwing out the trash, he happened to pass by the pantry. He remembered that Shen Huiming was going to make coffee before, so he turned around and walked in.

He turned on the light, stood by the door and scanned around.

Shen Huiming’s company pantry area was quite large, complete with all kinds of utensils, drinks and instant food in stock. There were two small round tables near the window for people to rest.

Suo Yang saw that the coffee beans he had brought were placed on the shelf, so he walked over to prepare to grind some coffee beans and make a cup of coffee for Shen Huiming.

He was not as obsessed with coffee as Shen Huiming, and he couldn’t even distinguish the difference between coffee from different places. The only coffee knowledge he had about coffee was for work.

But the coffee beans were very fragrant. He held it in front of his nose and smelled it, and he could smell the rich aroma through the bag.

He ground the coffee beans and made coffee. Suo Yang was surrounded by the mellow aroma of coffee in the pantry by himself.

A cup of coffee was ready. He hesitated for a moment and did not add sugar.

He remembered that Shen Huiming never added sugar or milk.

Suo Yang returned to Shen Huiming’s office with the coffee. The other party looked up at him, and he smiled and said, “Mr. Shen, your coffee is ready.”

The two looked at each other and smiled. As if they were on the plane, Suo Yang served Shen Huiming a cup of coffee in the middle of the night.

Suo Yang carefully put the coffee by Shen Huiming’s hand and said softly, “Thanks for your hard work.”

Was it that much of a hard work?

It was definitely hard to work overtime at this hour, but with someone to keep him company and someone to love, the suffering was not so unbearable.

Afterwards, Shen Huiming worked until almost eleven o’clock, and Suo Yang, who had enough sleep, took a book from his bookshelf and read it to accompany him.

When the two left the office building, some of the offices in the building were still lit. Everyone was trying to survive and live with their tired bodies and drooping eyelids and had no time to enjoy the brilliant night sky and the night breeze.

It might sound a bit heavy to say, but everyone was crawling forward like this.

       ===

After a few days of not seeing each other, everything happened as a matter of course—Suo Yang stayed over at Shen Huiming’s house as a matter of course, and Shen Huiming kissed Suo Yang and fell into bed as a matter of course.

On a night without the slightest hint of alcohol, the two of them were like two balls of flames, and the sheets were like a forest, burnt to nothing but ashes.

Shen Huiming wished to live this kind of life with Suo Yang every day in the future— holding hands to and from work and hugging each other to sleep on the same bed.

But he knew very well that he could not rush.

He would not let Suo Yang make sacrifices for him, whether in life or in work.

Since Suo Yang liked his job, then he should continue to roam in his blue sky.

To enjoy flying at an altitude of 30,000 feet and to enjoy love on the ground full of traffic.

Before drifting off to sleep, Suo Yang felt a kiss landed on his forehead; he subconsciously hugged the other man tighter and soon fell asleep.

Suo Yang had no dreams all night and slept soundly, even more deeply than he slept in his own home.

In the morning, he was woken up by the ringing of the alarm clock and turned over with a frown. Before he woke up, he saw Shen Huiming, who was wearing an apron, rushing in to turn off the alarm clock on his phone.

Suo Yang lay there wrapped in a quilt and looked at him a little absent-mindedly, all in a daze.

Such Suo Yang looked more soft and cute. Shen Huiming leaned over with a smile, gently rubbing his messy hair, “Did I wake you up?”

Suo Yang shook his head and grabbed his hand.

At seven o’clock in the morning, Suo Yang didn’t want to get up yet, but Shen Huiming was already full of energy, making breakfast for his boyfriend.

“You can lie down for a while longer.” Shen Huiming said, “I’ll put it in the pot to keep the food warm when it’s ready, so you can eat it when you get up.”

“Are you leaving?” Suo Yang glanced at the time.

He had almost forgotten that Shen Huiming had to go to work today.

“Seven thirty.” Shen Huiming said, “I have to go early today.”

Suo Yang thought for a while, then sat up.

When he got up, the quilt slid down to his waist, and the bright crimson mark under the collarbone was very eye-catching.

But Suo Yang himself didn’t know that there was a hickey there.

Shen Huiming looked at the hickey, and his heart was tickled, but he was going out later, and there was no time for him to fool around.

“What? Not going to sleep anymore?”

“Well,” Suo Yang pointed to the hanger beside the bedroom wall, “Help me with my pyjama pants.”

Shen Huiming smiled and went over to help him bring over his pyjamas.

Suo Yang got dressed and walked out of the bedroom with Shen Huiming.

One of them went into the kitchen, and the other into the bathroom.

By the time Suo Yang finished washing up, Shen Huiming’s breakfast was ready.

During the meal, Shen Huiming asked him, “What’s the arrangement for today?”

“I’ll meet up with you later,” Suo Yang said, “I’ll go home first.”

       Shen Huiming nodded.

“Go back and tidy up briefly, and then maybe meet Zhou Mo for dinner.”

       “Zhou Mo?”

“Well, after he knew about our affairs, he insisted on asking me to treat him.” Suo Yang smiled, “I guess he just wanted to hear gossip.”

Shen Huiming also smiled, “Okay, when the time comes, you can decide the time and place. I can accompany you if I have nothing to do here.”

       “Aren’t you busy today?”

“I have a meeting this afternoon, and I should be fine after that.” Shen Huiming took a sip of water, “You can’t be so busy every day; you have to have some time to relax and to do romance.”

Suo Yang smiled, “Okay, I will be in touch then.”

After the two left, they parted at the gate of Shen Huiming’s residential area. Originally, Shen Huiming wanted to send Suo Yang back, but Suo Yang said, “It’s too troublesome for you to go back and forth during the morning rush hour. I’ll take a taxi and go back.”

They are not children, so there was no need to engage in the drama of insisting on sending someone home, not to mention, it was just a taxi on the side of the road, so there was no need to worry about it.

The only problem was that Shen Huiming wanted to see Suo Yang more.

He pulled over and stopped until Suo Yang took a taxi and left, then returned to his car and drove towards the company.

After parting, they went about their business.

When Shen Huiming arrived at the company, he began to deal with the affairs at hand and prepare for the afternoon meeting, while Suo Yang went home to pack his suitcase, wash his clothes, and then take a comfortable bath.

Their lives seemed to be the same as before, but great changes had taken place.

Suo Yang made an appointment with Zhou Mo to have dinner together and then spent time alone at home leisurely.

At three o’clock in the afternoon, Shen Huiming sent a message asking him what he was doing.

At that time, Suo Yang was about to change all the sheets and quilt covers and was halfway through the process when he called Shen Huiming.

“Changing the quilt,” Suo Yang asked, “Are you done?”

“Well, I’m getting ready to leave early.”

Suo Yang smiled, “Then… come to see me?”

“To your house?” Shen Huiming was quite curious as he had never been to Suo Yang’s house.

“Well, do you still remember where my house is?” Shen Huiming sent him back on the day the two confirmed their relationship. At that time, Suo Yang wanted to invite him to sit down, but Shen Huiming was in a hurry to go to the company.

Suo Yang said, “Why don’t you come over and have dinner together with Zhou Mo tonight.”

“Of course I remember!” How could he forget the address of Suo Yang’s house?

Shen Huiming was happy and agreed cheerfully.

Suo Yang’s house was quite far from Shen Huiming’s house. When Suo Yang bought a house, he deliberately chose a place close to the highway out of the city. It was convenient to go to work1assuming that usually, airports are quite far from the city centre so it was convenient for Suo Yang to travel, and this side of the city was much quieter than the city centre, and the house price was also much lower.

Shen Huiming company wasn’t too far from the house, and he drove for nearly 40 minutes to get there.

Before he went there, he bought a bouquet of red roses and rang the doorbell of Suo Yang’s house with the flowers in his hand.

When Suo Yang came to open the door, he had already cleaned up the house, and everything that needed to be changed and washed had also been tidied up.

This place, which seldom had guests, was really welcoming a distinguished guest this time.

When Suo Yang opened the door, the first thing he saw was not Shen Huiming but the big bouquet of red roses.

He froze for a moment, then laughed.

       “What is this for?”

“For you,” Shen Huiming said, “it’s the first time I give roses to someone, and I feel like I’m in an idol drama.”

Suo Yang looked at him with a smile and took the flowers from his hand.

       “Come in.”

Suo Yang prepared slippers for him and stood aside with flowers in his arms, waiting for him to change his shoes.

Shen Huiming followed Suo Yang into the house. This not-so-big apartment was clean and tidy, with good lighting.

It turned out that our handsome flight attendant lived in a house like this. Shen Huiming scanned the room and thought it was really nice here.

Suo Yang had a vase at home, but he had never bought flowers. He and Shen Huiming sat on the floor and trimmed the roses and then put them into the vase one by one.

The autumn afternoon sun slanted in through the bright windows, wrapping the two of them and the rose in soft light.

Shen Huiming looked at Suo Yang who was fiddling with roses with his head down, and said softly, “I want to kiss you.”

Chapter 84

When the old man Ning celebrated his birthday, it was customary for all the younger members of the family to go back to celebrate his birthday. This year, Ning Zhanghong had just been discharged from the hospital after a serious illness, so tomorrow’s meal would be even more formal and meaningful.

However, Ning Junyan didn’t plan to take him back on his grandpa’s birthday but instead went back a day earlier for dinner. He didn’t care what his family would think of his relationship with them, but he was worried that Chen Yuncheng would care.

Chen Yuncheng was indeed conflicted and uneasy. On one hand, he wanted to meet Ning Junyan’s grandfather; on the other hand, he felt that no matter how good a person Ning Junyan’s grandfather was and how much he loved Ning Junyan when he saw that Ning Junyan’s lover was a man, he would definitely still be disappointed. Obviously, he was waiting with hope for his grandson to bring home a girlfriend, but it turned out to be a boyfriend, so the old man must be uncomfortable in his heart.

But he didn’t refuse Ning Junyan, he felt that this matter must be important to Ning Junyan, and at least he didn’t want to disappoint Ning Junyan.

Although Chen Yuncheng didn’t wear a suit and tie that day, he was dressed more formally than usual.

Ning Junyan drove to the trade market to pick him up and said to him after he got into the car, “Don’t be nervous.”

Chen Yuncheng nodded but did not speak.

When they drove out of the market, they met a white BMW at the gate that was about to enter.

This car was a second-hand BMW bought by Chen Yuncheng with a mortgage. It was usually placed in the parking space outside the store. He didn’t usually drive it very much and usually only drove it when he went out to discuss business. The car was driven out by Guan Anlin this afternoon and had only returned from outside now.

When the car passed by each other, Chen Yuncheng pressed the window and asked Guan Anlin, “Where did you go?”

Guan Anlin waved his hand and did not answer but asked Chen Yuncheng, “Aren’t you coming back tonight?”

Ning Junyan replied for Chen Yuncheng, “Not coming back.”

Guan Anlin showed a dissatisfied expression, pressed the window and drove the car into the market.

Chen Yuncheng cursed in a low voice, “Brat.” And he didn’t say anything more.

When they arrived at the villa complex where his grandfather lived in the city, Ning Junyan parked the car in the roadside parking lot in the community, opened the door and got off, waiting for Chen Yuncheng to come down and walk there with him.

Chen Yuncheng spoke very little and seemed to be concentrating on walking.

Ning Junyan walked all the way to the door of the villa; before pushing the door to go in, he suddenly held Chen Yuncheng’s hand, and without giving him time to react, he just dragged him inside together.

Grandpa Ning was waiting for guests while watching TV news in the living room, when he heard the voice, he raised his head and looked towards them.

“Grandpa,” Ning Junyan said after entering the door, “I brought someone back.”

Grandpa Ning first showed a smile on his face and said, “You’re back.” Then he looked at Chen Yuncheng for a while and became puzzled again. He asked Ning Junyan, “Is this a girl?” He didn’t quite understand, he knew that some girls would be dressed up like a boy, but the young man in front of him didn’t look like a girl.

       Ning Junyan said, “No.”

Chen Yuncheng was very nervous and said, “Grandpa, I am Chen Yuncheng.”

“Oh—” Grandpa Ning nodded and trailed off, but he still didn’t understand, so he could only greet him, “Come in and sit down.”

Chen Yuncheng wanted Ning Junyan to let go of his hand a little bit, but Ning Junyan made it worse, he slipped fingers between Chen Yuncheng’s fingers to hold him tighter, led him to the sofa, and sat down side by side.

Grandpa Ning kept looking at the two of them, and when they sat down, he asked Ning Junyan, “Didn’t you say you were bringing your girlfriend back?”

Ning Junyan said, “I never said that, I said I would bring my lover back.”

Grandpa Ning seemed to be taken aback for a moment. He looked Chen Yuncheng up and down, and after a while, he looked at Ning Junyan with a question.

Ning Junyan nodded, “This is Yuncheng, the person I told you about.”

The old man was actually very surprised, but he had excellent self-control. He nodded at first and thought for a while on his own with a puzzled expression. Then he seemed to understand and nodded again, “I see.”

At this time, Chen Yuncheng hurriedly gave the present to Grandpa Ning; it was a pot of beautifully packaged rice wine, which was not cheap either.

Grandpa Ning accepted it with a smile, expressed his thanks repeatedly, and then asked the housekeeper if it was time to start dinner and told them to go to the dining room for dinner.

During the course of the meal, Grandpa Ning kept chatting with Chen Yuncheng, with a very gentle attitude,  like a casual conversation between an amiable elder and a junior, without a word of difficulty.

Chen Yuncheng gradually relaxed and chatted a lot with the old man as they ate.

Later, while Chen Yuncheng got up to go to the bathroom, Ning Junyan asked his grandfather, “Do you like him?”

Grandpa shook his head and sighed, “It’s not a matter of liking him or not, you have to think about it anyway.”

Ning Junyan picked up the napkin and wiped his mouth lightly, and said, “I’ve thought about it for a long time.”

After dinner, they accompanied Grandpa Ning back to the living room to sit down and drink tea.

After chatting for more than ten minutes, footsteps came from outside the house, and then someone opened the door and came in, calling out, “Dad.”

The people in the living room turned their heads to look at the same time and saw that the person who opened the door was Shu Rong, and the person who followed Shu Rong was Ning Zhanghong who was supported by Ning Zhangyu.

       The scene instantly became awkward.

Chen Yuncheng slowly stood up, and as he did so, Ning Junyan took his hand and stood up with him.

When Shu Rong saw Chen Yuncheng sitting in the living room, Shu Rong’s face changed undisguisedly, and the little smile that had been on her face vanished into thin air.

The two siblings, Ning Zhanghong and Ning Zhangyu who were following Shu Rong, both showed surprised expressions and stood at the door, forgetting that they should come in.

It was still Grandpa Ning who said, “Why are you standing in a daze? Come in and sit down when you come back.”

Shu Rong looked at Chen Yuncheng but did not respond.

Ning Zhangyu said at this time, “Big brother and sister-in-law, go in and sit down first.”

Shu Rong moved her body and walked towards the sofa in the living room.

The family sat down by the sofa in the living room in an awkward atmosphere. Grandpa Ning ordered the housekeeper to bring a cup to pour tea, and all were quiet for a time without speaking.

Originally, it was the old man’s birthday tomorrow, and the children didn’t plan to come here today, but because Ning Zhanghong was sick and had just been discharged from the hospital, a distant relative in another place called and said that he would come to celebrate the old man Ning’s birthday and visit Ning Zhanghong at the same time, so Ning Zhanghong and his siblings came over tonight came over, intending to discuss with the old man to book two tables at the restaurant tomorrow instead of preparing at home.

Ning Zhangyu thought Ning Zhanghong was in poor health just after being discharged from the hospital, so she asked her husband to drive to pick up her elder brother and his wife.

Her husband, whose name is Huang Jin, parked the car outside the villa when they arrived and told them to get out first. He went to find a parking space himself and came over two minutes late.

Ning Zhangyu had met Chen Yuncheng in the hospital before. Although Shu Rong didn’t tell her who this young man was, Ning Zhangyu felt that there was some unusual ambiguity between Ning Junyan and him. When she saw the two of them holding hands again just now, she immediately guessed in her heart.

But Huang Jin came in from the outside, but he didn’t know what was going on. He only saw Ning Junyan sitting on the sofa and a young man next to him, and greeted him, “Junyan is here too? Is this your friend?”

Huang Jin just asked casually, Ning Junyan looked up at him and said, “This is my lover, I brought him here to see grandpa.”

Chen Yuncheng froze for a moment and turned his head towards him.

Ning Junyan’s attitude was very calm, and he held Chen Yuncheng’s hand again.

Huang Jin didn’t react for a while and said, “What?”

Ning Zhangyu noticed that Shu Rong’s face suddenly turned pale, and she quickly said to her husband: “You sit down first. So much nonsense.”

Huang Jin said: “No, what did Junyan say just now?” He suspected that he had heard it wrong.

Ning Junyan suddenly gave a very soft laugh and said, “Then let me introduce you formally. This is my lover, Chen Yuncheng.”

Shu Rong stood up from the sofa all of a sudden and said sharply to Ning Junyan, “I think you are crazy!”

Ning Zhangyu quickly stretched out his hand to pull her, “Sister-in-law, there are better words to be said.” After she said that, she quickly winked at Huang Jin again.

Huang Jin came to his senses and hurriedly persuaded, “Sister-in-law, take it easy. There may be some misunderstanding.”

Ning Zhanghong lowered his head and said nothing, so no one could see exactly what expression he was wearing.

Ning Junyan looked up at Shu Rong and said, “Then just think I’m crazy. I didn’t ask anyone’s permission, I just told the elders.”

Ning Zhangyu couldn’t help but say, “Junyan, don’t do this. Do you want to piss your mother off?”

Ning Junyan shook his head, “I’m not angry with her. She’s the one who’s angry with herself. I’m thirty years old, I’m perfectly capable of arranging my own life, and I’m living a good life. I don’t understand why she’s angry.”

Ning Zhanghong finally spoke, and he said in a deep voice, “Your mother is also doing it for your own good.”

Ning Junyan frowned, “So I don’t know if I’m alright, yet she knows?”

Chen Yuncheng sat next to him and reached out to gently tug at Ning Junyan’s sleeve.

Ning Junyan turned to look at him, leaned close to his ear and whispered, “Do you want to go back? Then let’s go.”

After he said this, Ning Junyan stood up, holding Chen Yuncheng’s hand, and said to grandpa, “Grandpa, Yuncheng and I are going back first, and we will come to see you some other day.”

Grandpa Ning was about to nod when Shu Rong roared, “Don’t leave! No one is leaving until we get this straight today!”

Chapter 83

When Ning Junyan came to pick up Chen Yuncheng, he saw Chen Yuncheng squatting in front of the store feeding stray cats with ham.

There were several stray cats in the trade market, and Chen Yuncheng would feed them whenever he was free. The stray cats recognised him, and they would come close to him when they saw him, and act coquettishly.

When Ning Junyan’s car approached, the two cats in front of Chen Yuncheng ran away at once and hid in the distance. When they saw that there was no threat, the cats rushed back to continue eating the ham sausage on the ground. Ning Junyan opened the door and got out of the car, and walked to Chen Yuncheng’s side.

Chen Yuncheng crouched down and didn’t get up, only tilting his head to look at Ning Junyan.

“Shall we go?” He asked Chen Yuncheng.

Chen Yuncheng smiled and said, “Wait for me for two minutes.” He patiently continued to feed the cat.

Ning Junyan squatted down beside him and looked at the two stray cats in front of him.

Chen Yuncheng turned to look at the smooth lines of his side face and asked, “Do you want to feed them?”

“No,” Ning Junyan refused him mercilessly.

Chen Yuncheng surprisingly found him cute even with his indifferent tone. He looked at Ning Junyan with a smile, and said, “Forget it then.”

After feeding the cat, Chen Yuncheng went into the shop to greet Guan Anlin and then got into the car with Ning Junyan. He sat on the passenger seat, fastened his seat belt and asked, “Is your dad okay?”

Ning Junyan started the car and answered him at the same time, “He’s recovering well.”

At first, Chen Yuncheng didn’t know how serious acute aortic dissection was. Later, when he came back to the trade market and chatted with the people in the store next door, he heard that this disease was very dangerous. Even if the operation was successful, it might not necessarily save his life, so he began to feel scared.

Of course, fearing that something might happen to Ning Zhanghong was one thing, but he was also afraid that if Ning Zhanghong really died on Ning Junyan’s operating table, it would have a significant impact on Ning Junyan’s psyche. So he couldn’t help but ask Ning Zhanghong how he was recovering, hoping that Ning Zhanghong could recover and be discharged from the hospital as soon as possible.

After knowing that Ning Zhanghong was doing well, Chen Yuncheng asked again, “What about your mother? Is she still angry?”

Ning Junyan replied, “Yes, she won’t even talk to me when she saw me today.”

“I’m sorry,” Chen Yuncheng apologised earnestly.

Ning Junyan glanced at him, “None of it was your fault.”

Chen Yuncheng said, “It was Guan Anlin who was rude to her that made her angry.”

Ning Junyan said, “Well, that’s why none of it was your fault.”

“Is she still doing business with Yu Jie?”

       “She said she wasn’t.”

       Chen Yuncheng nodded, “That’s good.”

In the evening, Ning Junyan received a call from the hospital and temporarily participated in a long-distance video consultation. He went to the study room and left Chen Yuncheng alone in the bedroom.

Chen Yuncheng lay on the bed and played some games without paying much attention. After a while, he felt bored and put the phone aside, sat cross-legged on the bedside and pulled the iron chain with his hands.

A leather collar hangs from the end of the chain and hung against the wall over the pillow.

Chen Yuncheng started to untie the collar from the iron chain, looked at it in his hand, got up and walked to the door to look outside. He heard Ning Junyan’s voice from the study, and it was estimated that the video over there would not be over for a while. So he slipped the collar around his neck, fumbled for the clasp, and went into the bathroom to look in the mirror.

The short-haired young man in the mirror had a straight nose, soft eyebrows, and a black leather collar around his neck. For some reason, he looked particularly sexy. Chen Yuncheng was not very interested in Ning Junyan’s messy sexual fetishes, but sometimes he thought it was a good spice in bed.

After all, when Ning Junyan was in high spirits, Chen Yuncheng would be aroused by him, and the feeling would be particularly strong.

He looked around in the mirror and after a while returned to the bed to take off the collar and hung it back on the chain.

The matter on Ning Junyan’s side was not over yet, and Chen Yuncheng didn’t want to disturb him, so he lay down on the bed and played games for a while. Chen Yuncheng then felt tired and fell asleep, leaving a lamp on beside the bed for Ning Junyan.

However, this sleep did not last long. Chen Yuncheng was awakened by Ning Junyan’s kiss.

He opened his eyes, Ning Junyan was kneeling on one leg by the bed, and his fingers unbuttoned his shirt, revealing a large part of his firm chest. When he saw that Chen Yuncheng woke up, Ning Junyan bent down and continued to kiss him while unbuttoning, and after a while, he threw the shirt he had taken off to the side.

Chen Yuncheng raised his hand and hugged Ning Junyan’s neck. After being kissed by him for a while, his cheeks and neck felt itchy, so he avoided it with a smile and reached out to touch the phone, “What time is it?”

Ning Junyan grabbed his hand and fixed it above his head. Instead of answering the question of what time is it, he said, “Did you play with my collar?”

Chen Yuncheng was stunned momentarily, then looked up at the collar hanging on the bed, “How do you know?”

Ning Junyan stroked his hair and said in a low and slow voice, “There is surveillance in the room.”

Chen Yuncheng felt that he was suddenly awake, subconsciously raised his head to look for the surveillance in the room, and said, “Are you crazy? What kind of surveillance is installed in your own room?”

Ning Junyan watched him panic momentarily, clasped the buckle of the iron chain with one hand and took off the collar. A faint smile appeared on the corner of his mouth, but it disappeared quickly, “The buckle you put on is different from where it was before.”

Chen Yuncheng looked at his expression and knew that Ning Junyan was teasing him, so he let out a slight sigh of relief.

But immediately afterwards, Ning Junyan put the collar on Chen Yuncheng’s neck, “Just keep wearing it if you like it.”

“Of course not!” Chen Yuncheng twisted his neck and said, “People will definitely think I’m crazy.”

Ning Junyan pressed Chen Yuncheng’s hand with his left hand, hooked up the collar with the fingers of his right hand, inserted his fingertips into the narrow gap between Chen Yuncheng’s neck and the collar, rubbed it with his fingertips, and said, “You can engrave your name here, do you want it inside or outside? If you engrave it on the outside, everyone will know that you are mine.”

Chen Yuncheng looked at him without saying a word, with a slight smile in his eyes.

Ning Junyan pulled the collar, “Speak.”

Chen Yuncheng’s head was pulled up, then fell on the pillow again. He couldn’t help but say, “It hurts!”

       Ning Junyan said coldly, “Weak.”

Chen Yuncheng struggled to free his hands from Ning Junyan’s and then stretched out two hands towards him.

This was a gesture of asking for a kiss. Ning Junyan quickly bent down and kissed him. After a long kiss, Ning Junyan held him on his lap, kissed his Adam’s apple through the collar, and said, ” Come on your knees.”

Chen Yuncheng didn’t reply, and he felt a little awkward and hesitant.

Ning Junyan said, “You promised me, but you deceived me again.” Those words were obviously coquettish words, but his tone was low and serious.

Chen Yuncheng remembered what he said in his office that day about trying it out with him, tried to convince himself to make up his mind, and warned him, “Don’t mess around.”

Ning Junyan looked up at him, “I love you so much, I can’t bear it.”

Chen Yuncheng blushed, first hugged him and kissed him forcefully, then turned around and knelt down on the bed reluctantly.

For a moment, Chen Yuncheng thought he really loved Ning Junyan so much that he couldn’t refuse any messy request, and even if he refused, he still couldn’t help but agree after a long time passed. He later thought that his bottom line was something that was constantly being broken, and in the end, he would find that there was actually no bottom limit and no upper limit.

It was early in the morning when it ended. Chen Yuncheng couldn’t bear it physically and refused to keep up with Ning Junyan. Ning Junyan’s energy was bottomless. As long as Chen Yuncheng didn’t refuse, he wouldn’t stop easily.

Chen Yuncheng didn’t even have the strength to get up to take a bath and was panting slightly while being held in Ning Junyan’s arms, feeling the leather collar sticking to his skin with sweat.

He tried to untie it with his fingers but gave up after trying several times without success.

Ning Junyan’s breathing calmed down quickly, and his palms were pressed against Chen Yuncheng’s lower abdomen, hugging him and leaning against his body.

“It’s my grandfather’s birthday next month. Want to come with me to meet him?” Ning Junyan asked in Chen Yuncheng’s ear.

Chen Yuncheng subconsciously refused, “No, I can’t.” He had the psychological trauma of meeting Ning Junyan’s family.

Ning Junyan said, “My grandfather is different. He wants to meet you.”

Ever since Ning Junyan mentioned that there was someone with his family last time, his grandfather called Ning Junyan several times and asked him to bring his girlfriend back for dinner.

Chen Yuncheng actually had no hope that any of Ning Junyan’s family members would accept him. Still, he didn’t want to disappoint Ning Junyan, so he hesitated and said, “Your family will all be back on your grandpa’s birthday, and I’m afraid of making a scene then.”

“No, we’ll go back alone. We don’t need to see anyone else.” No one else mattered in his eyes.

Chen Yuncheng looked at him, “Is that okay?”

       Ning Junyan said, “Of course.”

Chen Yuncheng still hesitated, but Ning Junyan did not urge him to make a decision.

The skin around his neck, where the collar was attached, began to itch, and once again, Chen Yuncheng reached out to untie it. This time Ning Junyan helped him and quickly took off the collar.

Chen Yuncheng’s neck was a little red from the restraint, but it was not serious.

Ning Junyan lowered his head to gently kiss the skin around Chen Yuncheng’s Adam’s apple.

Chen Yuncheng suddenly remembered something and asked Ning Junyan half-jokingly, “You don’t really install surveillance cameras in the room, do you?”

Ning Junyan’s kissing stopped suddenly. He propped up his upper body on his elbows and looked down at him.

Chen Yuncheng observed his expression and saw nothing unusual.

Afterwards, Ning Junyan turned his head to look at the top of the closet. Chen Yuncheng followed his gaze and saw nothing, not even an ornament that could accommodate a pinhole camera.

Ning Jun slowly turned his gaze back, inserted the fingers of his right hand into the middle of Chen Yuncheng’s hair, supported it against Chen Yuncheng’s ear, and said two words in a hoarse voice, “I don’t.”

Chapter 28

There was a lot of space in the extended car, so after Chu Yu finished speaking, he leaned on the backrest and closed his eyes to rest. After a while, Xu Ye heard rustling sounds, and the seat beside him moved.

The man’s starry eyes opened slightly to see the man kneeling at his feet without an inch of clothing. A small shiver of nervousness and embarrassment washed over his pale skin as he looked at him with pursed lips and dark eyes. As Xu Ye saw the man looking at him, he straightened his back a little awkwardly.

“Say what you want to say.” Chu Yu opened his mouth.

Xu Ye opened his mouth in panic, “Master, I was wrong…”

“I’ve heard this sentence before.” The man sat with his arms crossed. His black pupils were calm and unwavering, “I’ll only give you a minute, so you better hurry up and say something I haven’t heard before.”

Xu Ye’s face was flushed red, and his eyes flickered as he eagerly said, “Master…you can punish me however you want. I promise I won’t make this kind of mistake again…can you please don’t be angry…” What made him feel alarmed was Chu Yu’s attitude. Those warmthless gazes were no different from how he was looking at the landscape outside the window.

The second young master Chu raised his hand and looked at his watch, and only after a minute had passed did he speak again, “First of all, as a slave, everything about you belongs to me completely, and I can punish you in any way as a matter of course. Secondly, your assurance is meaningless to me. In the end, you know very well what has upset me. Since you did it, you should have the self-awareness to bear everything. A word of advice for you, whatever I do to you in the future, you had better not struggle unnecessarily, for that will make me even more unhappy.” After he said that, he closed his eyes again, “Stay quiet, or I will leave you naked on the road.”

“…Yes, Master.” Xu Ye lowered his eyelids, hiding all his emotions.

The car mat was soft, and the knees won’t hurt when kneeling. What was scary, however, was the time.

The drive from Qianchuan back to City H took at least two and a half hours.

Xu Ye just knelt quietly without moving. When the car stopped, Xu Ye’s legs were numb, and he couldn’t feel anything.

There was a noise outside the car door, and he trembled in panic. The glass of the car window was dark, so the inside of the car could not be seen from the outside. If the driver opened the door, his naked body would be shown in front of others. There was a buzzing in Xu Ye’s head. He looked at the man in front of him with a blue face and a pleading look in his eyes, “Master, can I be allowed to put on my clothes…”

Chu Yu sat leisurely and glanced at him indifferently.

The sound of footsteps outside the car door was getting closer and closer, Xu Ye was so panicked that his eyes even turned red, and he kept saying, “Please… Master, please…”

The drivers of the Chu family were all people with vast experience, and those who follow Chu Yu were even more clever. When he saw the second young master put down the partition screen while driving, he had already guessed what was going on in the back seat and had already notified the bodyguard to wait outside the car. Who would have the guts to pull the door without the second young master’s orders?

Chu Yu was silent for a moment, then opened the window by a gap, and immediately a bodyguard waiting outside the car door came over, “Bring me the box I left in the living room, plus a blanket.”

In no time at all, the items were delivered. When Chu Yu pressed the car window to take the things, the tall bodyguards looked away and did not dare to look inside. Even so, Xu Ye still shrank into a ball with his face reddened and his head bowed.

“I give you the right to choose, slave.” The man put the light blanket on the back seat and then opened the cardboard box in his hand. What stood out was a brown leather collar, two fingers wide, with a ring of diamonds neatly inlaid in the centre and a small silver bell hanging from the front. Unlike the one he had worn before, this collar did not have a metal clasp, and the tightness couldn’t be adjusted. Instead, it has a snap-on silver metal interface with the English abbreviation C.Y. engraved on it. It seemed that this collar was customized according to the neck circumference.

“I won’t allow you to wear clothes.” The man put the cardboard box on the seat and said clearly, “If you want to wear this blanket when you get off, put it on.”

He seemed to be given a choice, but in fact, there was no room for negotiation. Chu Yu’s methods were straightforward and neat, just like when he took off his mask to declare his sovereignty in the club. He wanted to expand the scope of this game, and Xu Ye was powerless to resist.

At this moment, Xu Ye’s gaze shrank suddenly as if being scalded by the collar, and he looked at the man in front of him with a pale face and some despair. This small leather collar was a mark of complete ownership, a mark that showed everyone that he belonged to someone else.

After a long time, he reached out with his eyelids down to take the collar and slowly wrapped it around his fair and slender neck. With a click, it clasped. He hung his head and wrapped his naked body with a thin blanket, his bangs covered his eyes, and the line of his pursed lips was stretched even tighter.

Chu Yu got out of the car and opened the door for himself on his own.

There were some well-trained bodyguards and drivers standing outside the courtyard of Hanguan No. 8. Everyone’s eyes were focused on the car, and when they saw a piece of blanket slowly poking out, they all understood what was happening and moved away.

Xu Ye had been kneeling for too long, and his blood flow was not smooth, so his legs had already gone numb. He couldn’t exert any strength when his feet touched the ground. During the movement, the blanket was torn off a little, exposing the entire right shoulder and collarbone, and of course, the collar around his neck. He panicked and tugged at the only cloth that could cover his body, and the silver bell trembled and jingled as he moved. With a slight flick of his feet, he was already being picked up by the man.

“Ge, you are too merciless.” Chu Xuan leaned against the side of the car, squinting his eyes and teasingly, “It’s pitiful that you can’t even stand up properly.”

Chu Yu glanced at him, “If you have so much free time, why don’t I ask elder brother to transfer you to Tangze to supervise the project?”

Chu Xuan’s expression changed, and he said aggrievedly, “I was arrested early in the morning to be a henchman, and now I’m going to be driven away…” He complained, but he darted into the car and left, apparently fearing that he would be sent to work in a place where birds do not live.

Chu Yu carried Xu Ye upstairs, kicked open the door of the guest room without saying a word, and walked straight into the bathroom before releasing his grip. Before the slave fell into the bathtub, the blanket wrapped around his body had been ripped off. The man raised his hand and threw the blanket on the floor, then lifted his jaw.

Xu Ye didn’t dare to move and let the man’s hand move around his neck. He heard a soft beep, and the collar was taken off.

It turned out that the collar was equipped with a fingerprint lock.

Xu Ye bit his lower lip and knelt silently.

Chu Yu turned the faucet to the maximum. The water poured down from the shower like pouring rain, and Xu Ye couldn’t even open his eyes, and he was slumped in the slippery bathtub. Fortunately, the water temperature was just right and not too cold.

The man tossed the collar on a shelf beside him and looked at Xu Ye, “Wash yourself and come downstairs with it.”

“Yes, Master.” Xu Ye’s voice seemed weak amidst the sound of water.

After Chu Yu left, he leaned his head against the edge of the bathtub and sat with his face up for a while, then raised his arms to cover his eyes and sighed heavily.

The ‘washing’ that man referred to was not just external cleaning. Xu Ye had been on his knees for too long before, and he was so exhausted after doing bowel cleaning and basic lubrication four times. He washed his body several times and dried it. Someone had already placed a pair of white underwear and a set of long clothes by the bed. The loose white cotton and linen texture was very comfortable to wear next to the skin without any decoration on the clothes. The V-shaped neckline was cut low, revealing his collared neck and collarbone. The trousers were lace-up and loose-fitting.

He was not asked to be naked in front of others, which should be regarded as the tolerance of that man. Xu Ye breathed a sigh of relief and walked down the stairs barefoot. He stopped at the stairs on the first floor, looked at the living room occupied by some strangers with some embarrassment. He hesitated for a moment, turned around and wanted to retreat, but heard a sentence from behind, “Young Master Xu.”

He turned around in surprise, looking at the middle-aged man who was holding a fruit plate and smiling at him. The man nodded slightly to him, with a respectful and gentle attitude, “This is the first time I officially meet you. I am the head butler of this house, Xiao Xun.”

       Chu Yu’s… butler?

Xu Ye looked around the entire first floor, Uncle Ye was busy in the kitchen, and there was a young girl helping the cook by his side. The two servants who came down from the second floor saw him standing at the stairs and hurried back with their heads lowered. It was only later that he realised that there were many more people in this house than when he visited the previous few times. He used to be curious about how Chu Yu lived alone before, but now he realised that the man had deliberately let everyone leave during the weekends in consideration of his mental capacity during the training.

Xu Ye pursed his lips, feeling sad and regretful. The man treated him with great care and tenderness. But he had been careless enough to make such a mess and upset the other party. If he hadn’t gone to that ‘family gathering’, the current situation would be completely different…

“Hello.” Xu Ye didn’t know what to say, so he fell silent after holding back the word.

Xiao Xun saw his uneasiness and said with a smile, “The young master is having afternoon tea with the guests over there. Why don’t you come over?”

Xu Ye turned his head and glanced at the living room. The slight friction between the collar on his neck and the skin reminded him of his situation instantly. He lowered his eyes and said softly, “I’ll wait a while…”

“Come here.” His words were interrupted by a sudden low voice. Chu Yu used a commanding tone, which also meant that there was no room for tricks. Although he didn’t mention his name, he knew who Chu Yu was calling. Xu Ye trembled when he heard the voice and raised his head to meet the man’s gaze. There was a heavy sense of oppression coming from the air in those deep black eyes.

Chapter 82

Yu Jie let go of his hand, and half of his cheeks gradually became red and swollen visible to the naked eye. He pressed his tongue against it, but he didn’t get angry, shook his head at Ning Junyan and then said to Guan Anlin, “Xiao Guan, we might have a misunderstanding.”

But Shu Rong said, “What misunderstanding? Why can’t we talk about it properly? How can you hit someone? Are you a barbarian?”

Guan Anlin glanced at her impatiently, “None of your business, you damn old woman!”

Chen Yuncheng pulled Guan Anlin, looked at Shu Rong, and when she saw her, her face turned livid.

Shu Rong probably hadn’t had much contact with people like Guan Anlin, her chest rose and fell violently, and she asked Ning Junyan, “Is this the friend you made?”

Ning Junyan said indifferently, “He’s not my friend.”

Shu Rong looked at Guan Anlin with an angry face and then turned to Chen Yuncheng.

Chen Yuncheng was about to say something, but Guan Anlin came to his senses first. He remembered that this woman was Ning Junyan’s mother, which was Chen Yuncheng’s evil mother-in-law, so he had to be a little more polite, so he changed his tone and said, “Auntie, it’s none of your business in the first place, who is he to you? Are you his accomplice in drug manufacturing and trafficking?”

Shu Rong didn’t speak, but her complexion became uglier. For a while, she didn’t know whether she should respond to the title “Auntie” or to the “drug manufacturing and trafficking” thing.

Yu Jie frowned, his eyes swept across the faces of Shu Rong and Ning Junyan—mother and son as if he had made a choice, and said to Guan Anlin, “Xiao Guan, we will explain the misunderstanding between us slowly.” Then he said to Shu Rong “I originally came to visit President Ning today, but it’s inconvenient now, please help me wish him a speedy recovery, and I’ll come back another day when I’m free.” He picked up the flowers on the ground and handed them to Shu Rong.

Shu Rong hesitated, reached out to take it, and only nodded.

Yu Jie was still able to smile at Ning Junyan at this time, turned around and walked away steadily.

Shu Rong gave Guan Anlin and Chen Yuncheng a sharp look, turned around and opened the door of the ward, walked in, and then closed the door heavily from the inside.

Chen Yuncheng looked at Ning Junyan, and it happened that Ning Junyan was also looking at him.

Ning Junyan said, “I’ll see you off.”

Chen Yuncheng pulled Guan Anlin a step slower, not wanting to run into Yu Jie again, Guan Anlin felt annoyed and cursed in a low voice.

“There’s nothing you can do about him now,” Chen Yuncheng said, “If you really hit him hard, won’t you be arrested and put back in jail?”

Guan Anlin said indignantly, “So just drop it?”

       Chen Yuncheng did not speak.

When Guan Anlin was first arrested by the police, Chen Yuncheng did not give up. He wanted to find out about Yu Jie who was the person behind Guan Anlin. He tried to find clues by himself, asked Zhang Wenyong for help, and even asked the police, but all to no avail. Now that Guan Anlin had been released from prison for two years, it was naturally more difficult to arrest Yu Jie.

Guan Anlin also knew in his heart that after he came out, that’s why he didn’t try to settle accounts with Yu Jie. If he hadn’t met Yu Jie by chance today, this matter might not be resolved.

As he said, he was stupid at the beginning, and he paid the price for his stupidity.

Walking all the way to the elevator, Chen Yuncheng said to Ning Junyan, “Your mother is angry.”

Ning Junyan let out an “En” and didn’t seem to care much. He stopped and said, “I won’t accompany you downstairs.”

Chen Yuncheng nodded, “U’m going to work.”

Ning Junyan suddenly reached out, hooked the back of his neck and lowered his head to kiss him on the lips, then quickly left and said, “I’ll pick you up tomorrow afternoon.”

       Chen Yuncheng smiled and nodded.

Guan Anlin got angry for a moment and felt that Ning Junyan had insulted Chen Yuncheng by kissing Chen Yuncheng in front of him, but soon he saw Chen Yuncheng smiling and felt that his anger was unreasonable. So he suppressed it and only urged Chen Yuncheng to say goodbye, “Let’s go.”

Ning Junyan stood where he was, watched them enter the elevator, and waited for the elevator door to close before turning around and leaving.

He went back to the single ward where Ning Zhanghong stayed, and when he opened the door to enter, he saw Shu Rong sitting on the chair beside the bed with anger still on his face.

When she heard the sound of the door opening, Shu Rong turned her head to look at Ning Junyan and quickly turned back without saying anything.

Ning Zhanghong lay on the hospital bed with a tired face and simply closed his eyes.

Ning Junyan asked Shu Rong, “Are you having dinner at the hospital?”

Shu Rong stood up immediately, and she asked Ning Junyan, “Look who are those people?”

Ning Junyan said, “Are you talking about Boss Yu?”

Shu Rong choked for a moment and quickly said, “That person just now wasn’t your friend, it was Chen Yuncheng’s friend, right?”

Ning Junyan did not answer her question,

Shu Rong took two steps forward. Since Ning Zhanghong’s emergency operation that day until now, she has had no time to talk to Ning Junyan alone. At this moment, she finally couldn’t bear it anymore and asked, “What exactly is your relationship with that Chen Yuncheng?”

Ning Junyan walked to the window, arranged a few bouquets on the window sill, and asked casually, “What do you think?”

“What do I think?” Shu Rong sounded anxious, “I think you guys aren’t normal!”

Ning Junyan turned his head and saw that under Ning Zhang Hong’s closed eyelids, his eyes rolled gently but did not open. He looked at Shu Rong again, “I think it’s quite normal, falling in love, sleeping together, getting married. What else do you want to know?”

Shu Rong’s face turned red in an instant,  she froze in place for two seconds before turning around to grab Ning Zhanghong’s arm, “Listen to what your son is saying?”

Ning Junyan frowned, “Don’t touch him. He shouldn’t be grabbed like that.”

But Ning Zhanghong finally opened his eyes and said weakly, “Don’t quarrel. Speak up if you have something to say.”

Shu Rong quickly gave up on Ning Zhanghong. She walked up to Ning Junyan, grabbed Ning Junyan’s arm, and said to him angrily, “Have you gone mad? Even if you don’t care that he’s a punk with no parents, he’s a man; why are you in love with a man? I worked so hard to raise you and provide you with the best conditions for your education, not so you can fall in love with a man and get married!”

Ning Junyan looked down at Shu Rong that was grabbing his hand. She grabbed him so hard that her fingernails turned white. Ning Junyan asked her in a calm tone, “And what are you in it for? What did you want to get from raising me after all your hard work?”

Shu Rong said, “I want you to be good, I want you to be talented, I want you to marry a woman of comparable condition, have two children, and I want you to have a better life than others!”

Ning Junyan said, “I have a better life with Chen Yuncheng than anyone else.”

“You’re crazy,” Shu Rong turned around and returned to the bed, and said to Ning Zhanghong, “Your son is crazy. His head probably hasn’t been healed, you should get out of the hospital quickly and find a specialist to look at him.”

Ning Zhanghong sighed and said, “Junyan, this is not right.”

Ning Junyan said to him, “You’d better get some rest, and whether it’s right or not will be discussed when you’re discharged from the hospital.”

Ning Zhanghong looked at Shu Rong, “Don’t worry, the child will be taught slowly.”

Shu Rong said angrily, “How else am I supposed to teach? Are you going to teach me?”

Ning Zhanghong simply closed his eyes, and his brow furrowed as he stopped talking.

Ning Junyan said to Shu Rong, “Stop arguing with him, don’t you want him to be discharged from the hospital?”

       Shu Rong finally calmed down.

Ning Junyan walked towards the door and said to Shu Rong before opening the door, “That Yu Jie, last time Yuncheng asked me to tell you that his background is not clean, and told you not to associate with him.”

Shu Rong folded her arms and didn’t look at Ning Junyan, “I know what’s going on in my mind, I have no business dealings with him.” After she finished speaking, she couldn’t hold back and said again, “And what’s with Chen Yuncheng? How could his friend speak to me like that?”

Ning Junyan said, “He didn’t say anything wrong. What’s it to you if he beats up Yu Jie? In the future, when you come across such things, don’t get involved in nosy things. Just stay away from them.”

Shu Rong was almost trembling with anger at his words and took deep breaths to calm down.

Ning Junyan had already left the ward and closed the door gently.

On the way back, Guan Anlin was still driving, and Chen Yuncheng sat in the passenger seat.

Guan Anlin thought about it and felt a little worried. He asked Chen Yuncheng, “Is what I said to Ning Junyan’s mother unpleasant? Why is she so angry?”

Chen Yuncheng laughed a little suddenly, propped his head lazily with one hand against the window, and said, “It’s alright.”

Guan Anlin was puzzled, “How can you still laugh? I’m afraid of offending someone, and it will cause you more trouble in the future.”

Chen Yuncheng sighed and said, “I didn’t expect her to accept me either.”

From the way Shu Rong had sneered at him during New Year’s Eve to the way Shu Rong had ignored him on the day of Ning Zhanghong’s surgery, Chen Yuncheng already knew very well in his heart that no matter what he did, Shu Rong would not accept him and still harboured an inexplicable hostility towards him.

His courtesy and care for Shu Rong stem from his nature, but it did not mean that he had unrealistic delusions about Shu Rong. Therefore, he was not too concerned about whether or not Guan Anlin would offend Shu Rong and even felt a little secretly funny when he saw Shu Rong’s face change.

Guan Anlin asked him, “Then what are your plans?”

Chen Yuncheng said, “No plan, I’m going to leave it to Ning Junyan.” After he said this, he suddenly realized that Ning Junyan was too reliable in his heart. No matter how Shu Rong obstructed him, he would always trusts Ning Junyan. There was absolutely no way Ning Junyan would give up on him because of that.

Notes:
Good thing Chen Yuncheng is not the typical I need your mom and dad to accept me kind of partner. But it must also be because Ning Junyan give him good assurance too

Chapter 81

Ning Junyan pressed himself against Chen Yuncheng and lowered his head as he patiently unbuttoned Chen Yuncheng’s pyjamas one by one.

Chen Yuncheng asked him, “Have you had enough sleep this afternoon? Are not you tired now?”

Ning Junyan didn’t stop moving and just said, “I’m tired, but I need to feed myself first.”

Chen Yuncheng couldn’t help but laugh, “I don’t know what’s going on in your head all day long.”

Ning Junyan looked up at him, “Thinking about you quite a lot.”

When he really took off Chen Yuncheng’s pyjamas, Ning Junyan hugged him again and did nothing else, closed his eyes, and said slowly, “You said you’d try anything with me.”

Chen Yuncheng stroked his hair, “There must be a bottom line.”

Ning Junyan said, “What’s your bottom line?”

Chen Yuncheng thought for a while and said, “I can’t say it now. I can’t promise you all the weird things.”

Ning Junyan said softly, “My bottom line is you. Nothing else matters.”

Chen Yuncheng glanced at him and saw that his eyes were still closed, and the expression on his face probably didn’t change when he said this.

After a while, Ning Junyan fell asleep. Chen Yuncheng gently moved his hand away and rolled out of bed to clean up his changed clothes and wet towels in the bathroom. He waited until everything was tidied up, then turned off the light and went back to bed, lying beside Ning Junyan to sleep.

Ning Zhanghong stayed in the ICU for a few days and was transferred to the general ward when his condition stabilised.

After Chen Yuncheng found out about it, he thought he should go and visit him.

It just so happened that afternoon Guan Anlin accompanied him to a second-hand car dealership to look at the cars. Chen Yuncheng actually didn’t really think much about famous brand cars, and he never felt that he needed a mortgage to buy a second-hand famous brand car, but he also felt that what Sun Shiliang said was very reasonable. In business, the richer people think you are, the more willing they are to deal with you.

Guan Anlin was quite interested in these cars, and he was very happy during the test drive.

On the way back from the used car dealership, Guan Anlin hummed to the radio while driving the van.

Chen Yuncheng said that he wanted to go to the hospital to visit Ning Junyan’s father.

Guan Anlin had already heard him mention this matter and said, “Going to see your father-in-law?”

Chen Yuncheng gave him a blank look and didn’t bother to talk to him.

Guan Anlin continued, “You said his father is the director of some hospital, right? Do you think he’d jump up from his hospital bed in fierce opposition if he knew about you two?”

Chen Yuncheng imagined Ning Zhanghong’s character and temper and was really not sure how he would react. He was definitely against it, but he didn’t know whether Ning Zhanghong would oppose it for himself or for his wife’s sake.

When he thought of these things, Chen Yuncheng couldn’t help being a little upset and said, “His mother is more difficult to deal with than his father.”

Guan Anlin nodded in understanding, “An evil mother-in-law. What are your plans?”

Chen Yuncheng said, “I have no plans, I believe in Ning Junyan.”

Guan Anlin said, “It’s not like it’s your mother anyway.”

Ning Junyan was on the night shift tonight, and Chen Yuncheng planned to return to the store with Guan Anlin after seeing the patient.

Guan Anlin parked the car in the hospital parking lot, accompanied him to buy fruits and flowers in front of the hospital, and then went up to the hospital room.

When he reached the door of the ward, Chen Yuncheng saw that the door was only ajar, and Ning Junyan was sitting next to the bed in a white coat, while Ning Zhanghong was lying on the bed, looking like he had already woken up and was talking to Ning Junyan.

Guan Anlin didn’t go in but sat on the chair at the ward’s door and waited for Chen Yuncheng.

Chen Yuncheng raised his hand and knocked on the door.

Ning Junyan and Ning Zhanghong looked at the door at the same time. Ning Junyan stood up and walked towards Chen Yuncheng, “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”

The time was now past four o’clock in the afternoon, Chen Yuncheng said, “I’m afraid you are still busy, so I didn’t call you.” After he said that, he turned to Ning Zhanghong and greeted, “Uncle Ning.”

       Ning Zhanghong nodded.

Ning Junyan took the flowers and fruit basket from him and put them on the window sill of the ward. Chen Yuncheng walked to the bed and asked, “Is Uncle feeling better now?”

Ning Zhanghong said, “It’s much better. Thank you, please have a seat.”

Chen Yuncheng seemed a little cautious and did not sit down.

Ning Junyan walked behind him and pressed his shoulders so that he could sit in the chair while he himself sat by the hospital bed, which was very close to Chen Yuncheng.

A few questions and answers were exchanged between Chen Yuncheng and Ning Zhanghong, all about Ning Zhanghong’s health. Ning Zhanghong’s attitude towards Chen Yuncheng was somewhat similar to Shu Rong’s in that he was polite in a distant way, but he was different from Shu Rong, in that his politeness was superficial and seemed to be the same in the face of anyone.

After he said a few words, Chen Yuncheng felt that he had nothing to say. He was just here to visit, and now that he had achieved his goal, he could leave, so he glanced at Ning Junyan.

Ning Junyan was also looking at him, noticing his gaze, and said, “Is there something you want to tell me?”

       Chen Yuncheng said “En”.

Ning Junyan stood up and said to Ning Zhanghong, “You should rest first.”

Chen Yuncheng immediately got up and said goodbye to Ning Zhanghong, “Uncle, I’m going to leave in a bit, I wish you a speedy recovery.”

       Ning Zhanghong nodded, “Take care.”

Ning Junyan and Chen Yuncheng came out of the ward together and reached out to close the door. Chen Yuncheng heaved a sigh of relief and said in a low voice, “I don’t know what to say to your father.”

“I know,” Ning Junyan said, “so didn’t I tell you to go?”

       Chen Yuncheng smiled.

Guan Anlin was sitting outside right now, concentrating on playing games on his mobile phone without even raising his head.

Chen Yuncheng walked over and kicked his leg, “Let’s go.”

Guan Anlin only said, “Right away.” He turned around and continued his game.

“Leaving?” Ning Junyan asked Chen Yuncheng.

Chen Yuncheng said, “Why wouldn’t I leave, aren’t you on duty today?”

Ning Junyan asked, “You just came to see my dad?”

Chen Yuncheng answered him with a smile, “Yes.”

Ning Junyan looked at him and didn’t speak.

Chen Yuncheng said, “I’ll come over tomorrow night.”

Just when Guan Anlin finished a game, he raised his head and glanced at the two of them with an annoyed look on his face. He stuffed the phone back into his pants pocket, stood up and said to Chen Yuncheng, “Let’s go.”

       Chen Yuncheng nodded, “Let’s go.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he heard the sound of high heels coming from the other end of the corridor. He subconsciously looked up, and saw Shu Rong walking towards the ward in a light blue suit today.

There was a middle-aged man beside Shu Rong, holding a bouquet of flowers in his hand and turning his head to talk to Shu Rong. It was Yu Jie whom Chen Yuncheng had met at Shu Rong’s place when she accompanied Ning Junyan home for dinner during the New Year.

       Chen Yuncheng frowned slightly.

Yu Jie was talking to Shu Rong with a smile at first, but he seemed to have noticed the sight from this side. He raised his head and saw Chen Yuncheng and the others. His eyes turned to Guan Anlin as if he didn’t know him. He maintained a smile on his face and went on and said something to Shu Rong.

Shu Rong also showed a polite smile.

When she got closer, Shu Rong looked at Ning Junyan and asked, “Is your father awake? Boss Yu came to visit him specially.”

Ning Junyan said, “He took a nap at noon and woke up just now.”

Shu Rong turned to face Yu Jie and said, “Then let’s go in.”

Yu Jie nodded and followed Shu Rong to enter the ward. He passed by Chen Yuncheng and Guan Anlin with flowers in his arms without looking up at them again.

But at this time, Guan Anlin made an unexpected move. He punched Yu Jie in the face and cursed, “Old fvcking dog!”

His punch was so heavy that Yu Jie’s face suddenly turned to the side, and the flower in his hand fell to the ground.

Chen Yuncheng held Guan Anlin when he was about to punch him a second time and shouted, “Stop!”

Shu Rong had one hand on the doorknob of the ward, but turned around with a look of surprise, looked at Chen Yuncheng and Guan Anlin, and said, “What are you doing?”

Yu Jie covered his face and stood up straight.

Shu Rong asked him, “Boss Yu, are you okay? I’ll call the police right away.”

Ning Junyan reached out and pressed Shu Rong’s hand, which was about to hold the phone, and said, “No need.” He looked at Yu Jie, “Boss Yu, are you okay?”

Chapter 45

When Suo Yang opened his eyes, it was already dark, and he was in a daze for a while before realising that he had fallen asleep.

There was only one lamp turned on in Shen Huiming’s office, and the person at the desk was frowning at the computer and revising a proposal.

Suo Yang lay on the sofa and didn’t get up immediately, but just watched Shen Huiming quietly in the dark for a long time.

He was obviously the person who Suo Yang had the most intimate moment with, but looking at him like this, seemed a little strange.

This kind of strange feeling did not make Suo Yang feel uneasy, on the contrary, he felt the wonderful pleasure of discovering a new world. He had never been a person who liked to encounter new things and meet new friends, but when it comes to Shen Huiming, he was happy to feel the freshness that this person brought to him from time to time.

He just stared at him for a while, then got up and rubbed his sore neck.

As soon as Suo Yang moved, Shen Huiming immediately looked up at him.

       “Just woke up?”

Suo Yang smiled, “Well, this sofa is quite comfortable.”

Shen Huiming got up, walked over, crouched down beside Suo Yang’s legs and looked up at him.

       “What’s wrong?” Suo Yang asked.

Just after he asked, Shen Huiming suddenly came up to him and kissed him.

“Nothing, I just want to take advantage of the opportunity.” Shen Huiming lingered before standing up and turning on the light.

“You’ve been working?” Suo Yang also stood up and stretched his shoulders.

“Well, I thought I’d get it done quickly so we could go home.”

Suo Yang glanced at the time and found that it was already past eight o’clock, “How’s the progress? Will it be a while yet?”

Shen Huiming said apologetically, “It will take a while, I really shouldn’t have asked you to come with me.”

Suo Yang didn’t care how long he waited, anyway, wherever he was, it was the same—he would’ve fallen asleep just the same.

“Are you hungry?” Suo Yang asked him, “I’ll go downstairs and get some food, so you can eat and rest a little.”

“I planned to take you out to eat after I finished my work…”

Suo Yang gently squeezed his shoulder, “I’ll go downstairs and take a look around, you should finish your work.”

It was common for Shen Huiming to work overtime, and it was strange not to work overtime. However, when he used to work overtime and stay up late, at most he dragged his assistant to accompany him. Sometimes the two of them would quarrel over a detail of a plan, like killing enemies on the battlefield, and it had never been this cozy.

He took Suo Yang’s hand, “Thank you for your hard work.”

Suo Yang smiled, “It’s still harder for you.”

Suo Yang went downstairs, Shen Huiming stretched his waist and continued to work.

Shen Huiming’s company was in a good location, and when he went downstairs, there were quite a few restaurants nearby.

When Suo Yang went downstairs, he searched and found a restaurant with a good reputation on the internet. He packed a few dishes and took them home.

As he walked back with the packed bag, Suo Yang looked up at the office building.

It was almost nine o’clock in the evening, and the office building was still brightly lit, with lights on every floor.

This was the world they lived in, and no one had it easy.

But even so, everyone was still working hard to move forward.

Thinking about it this way, it was a bit tragic.

He looked towards the ninth floor, where Shen Huiming was sitting was the only office with the light on.

Suo Yang looked at the floors below for a while, then stepped up and walked into the office building.

He couldn’t make Shen Huiming wait too long, and he didn’t want the other party to wait too long either.

On the elevator, Suo Yang raised his arms and looked at the dishes he had packed through the bag. He didn’t know if Shen Huiming would like these dishes. He hoped that the other party would like them and that his hard-working boyfriend could enjoy his meal.

When Suo Yang came back, Shen Huiming was about to make a cup of coffee, and the two happened to meet in the corridor.

“Let’s eat first.” Suo Yang grabbed Shen Huiming’s hand and pulled him back, “Eat before you drink.”

Shen Huiming was smiling as he was pulled by Suo Yang and returned to the office obediently.

Three dishes, two bowls of rice.

Suo Yang took the food out of the bag, and Shen Huiming went to the water dispenser to fetch two glasses of water.

“Not bad,” Shen Huiming sat next to him, “This restaurant has the best taste around here.”

When Suo Yang heard what Shen Huiming said, he breathed a sigh of relief, and said proudly, “I checked it online before I went.”

       Shen Huiming smiled, “Clever.”

The two sat on the sofa to eat. Although this restaurant had good reviews on the internet, and Shen Huiming also said that it tasted good, Suo Yang felt that this restaurant’s chef skills might be a bit inferior compared to Shen Huiming’s cooking skills.

He didn’t know if this was the so-called ‘love filter’, but he did prefer the dishes made by Shen Huiming.

As they ate, the two chatted softly.

Shen Huiming talked to Suo Yang about work matters—various project proposals, meetings and negotiations.

Suo Yang asked, “You are the boss, why do you need to write the plans?”

He had never worked in this kind of business, so he really didn’t know much about it.

“How should I put it?” Shen Huiming took a sip of water, “It was more reassuring to do everything by myself. But it was not a good thing for me to do so, since the people under me will never be able to take care of themselves.”

Suo Yang nodded, he felt that it was really tiring for Shen Huiming to be like this.

“In fact, they did a good job, but I just don’t feel at ease. I have to follow every project. Even when they come up with a plan, I have to read it word by word, and circle the problematic ones for them to change.”

“So much work.” Suo Yang didn’t expect Shen Huiming’s job to be like this.

“Once you get used to it, it’s just as usual.” Shen Huiming smiled, “It used to be even more difficult. In the beginning, when the company was registered, there were only two people working with me. The three of us supported the company’s work. There is no distinction between bosses and employees, and we had to do everything ourselves.”

Starting from scratch was easier said than done, and the hardships and pressures involved were unimaginable to those who had never experienced it before.

“When the company grows bigger and more outstanding people join, I will slowly be able to let go.” Shen Huiming deliberately teased him, “Do you want to consider coming to our company? A high salary is offered, and the job description is to work with me every day so that I can watch you de-stress.”

Suo Yang knew he was joking, so he teased him with a smile, “A high salary? How high?”

“I’m giving you the owner of this company. Don’t you think this salary is high enough?”

Suo Yang tried his best not to laugh, then bit his chopsticks and looked at him thoughtfully.

Shen Huiming asked, “What are you thinking?”

“Thinking about how much you are worth.”

Shen Huiming laughed out loud, “How much do you think I’m worth?”

Suo Yang thought about it seriously, and then said, “Priceless.”

A priceless treasure that couldn’t be exchanged for a thousand pieces of gold.

In such a big world, it is so rare to meet such a person.

Obviously, the two were joking, but there was something heartwarming in the way they said it.

Shen Huiming put down his chopsticks, took a sip of water, and suddenly pulled Suo Yang over for a kiss.

Suo Yang was a little surprised at first but quickly responded. The two kissed on the sofa in the office for a while, and Shen Huiming said, “Why do I like hearing you praise me so much?”

“Then let me praise you more,” Suo Yang looked at him with a smile, “If you’re in a good mood, ate a lot, and work hard when you’re full, we’ll go home early.”

Shen Huiming hugged the man in his arms and let out a long sigh of relief.

This feeling was really good, this love talk was making him happier than he imagined.

“Let me tell you something.” Shen Huiming looked in the direction of the window, and the big glass window reflected the two hugging each other.

       “Okay, tell me.”

“At that time we went to New York, and we almost missed each other.” Shen Huiming said, “My assistant originally booked me the previous flight, but something happened and it was delayed, so I had to change it. If I hadn’t changed it then, maybe we would have still met later, but how we would have developed, it’s all uncertain.”

       Indeed.

Everyone knew about the butterfly effect.

A butterfly flapping its wings in the rainforest could cause a tornado in Texas two weeks later.

Not to mention a missed encounter.

“The time I saw you, it was really…” Shen Huiming smiled, “Sort of just because of your appearance?”

Suo Yang also laughed, “So straightforward?”

“Because it sounds a bit hypocritical to say it’s love at first sight. I’m simply attracted by your appearance.”

       “You are honest.”

“I must be honest with you,” Shen Huiming said, “but I can guarantee that you are the only one who has made me fall in love over the years, so I’m not that superficial, am I?”

Suo Yang didn’t make a sound, but his eyes were always full of smiles.

He liked being hugged by Shen Huiming and listening to Shen Huiming talk.

Two people from completely different worlds were hugging and chatting together as if the two worlds were slowly mingling.

“Let me ask you a question.” Shen Huiming smiled self-deprecatingly, “Why do I have so many questions today?”

“Ask away.” Suo Yang was willing to answer as many questions as possible.

“How did I stand out from the crowd of suitors?” Shen Huiming let go of him, and looked into those smiling eyes, “Tell me about it and make me proud.”

The two were very close, and this scene of exchanging heartfelt affection was a bit overly cozy.

“That night in Moscow, you made me feel horrible.”

       “Horrible?”

“En.” Suo Yang paused for a moment, lowered his eyes, and looked at his hands.

His hand slowly reached out to hold Shen Huiming, and the two of them clasped their fingers tightly.

“I didn’t know that someone could see through my strange thoughts at a glance.” Suo Yang said, “It’s like the most difficult lantern riddle I devised was solved by you, and suddenly I met my soulmate.”

He raised his head and looked at Shen Huiming, “I watched a drama before, and there was a line that I still think is the truth of life.”

       “What lines?”

“In our lives, encountering love and sex was not rare, but what was rare was encountering understanding.” Suo Yang said, “I didn’t realise before that I was so desperate to be understood, and that stormy night you touched my soft spot straight away.”

Suo Yang smiled, and continued, “Also, when the sun came out, you secretly held my hand, and I was…a bit reluctant to let you go.”

Shen Huiming said in surprise, “You were awake then?”

“Well, I know you held my hand.” Suo Yang said, “At that time, felt that my heart was captured by you.”

Chapter 27

       How did they get here?

       At this time too…

Xu Ye didn’t know what expression he had on his face at this moment. He only felt that the blood in his body had frozen and rapidly lost its temperature. He stood stiffly at the door, watching Xu Ting and Song Wanhua’s respectful and polite flattery to the visitor, watching the polite but indifferent smile on Chu Yu’s face, watching him walking towards him step by step. It was as if a sticky paste had been poured into his head, and he couldn’t move anymore.

“What are you doing here?” Xu Ting accompanied Chu Yu to the front of the building. He saw Xu Ye standing at the door with a dazed expression on his face, scolded him in a low voice, and turned to introduce Chu Yu, “Second Young Master, this is my son, Xu Ye.”

Xu Ye trembled as if waking up from a dream, his eyes trembled, and he looked at the man in panic.

Chu Yu stood under a few steps and looked towards him. His eyes were light and distant, “I remember we met at the hospital once before, didn’t we?”

Xu Ye’s heart stopped suddenly. He moved his lips but said nothing. The atmosphere was momentarily awkward. Xu Ting immediately came to the rescue, “This is the boy who offended the third young man with his recklessness and ignorance. The Second Young Master didn’t blame him and would give away the painting as a gift. Your magnanimity is truly admirable.”

Chu Xuan smiled moderately behind him and asked Song Wanhua on the side, “Uncle Song, does this house belong to you?”

“I built it ten years ago and have since renovated it. The main reason is that the environment here is nice and quiet, which is suitable for the elderly like us to recuperate.” Song Wanhua replied.

“I think this is not only suitable for the elderly to maintain their health but also very suitable for young people to have a tryst.” Chu Xuan’s eyes were fixed on Xu Ye, and he arched his eyebrows in a meaningful smile, “I have long heard that the two families are interested in tying the knot. So it seems that the two heirs are indeed a good match.”

These words made Xu Ting and Song Wanhua laugh. Song Wanhua quickly took the opportunity to solicit, “If the two of them do become a couple, we must invite you to a wedding banquet.”

Song Yueran blushed, moved to the side behind Xu Ye, and said coquettishly, “Dad, what are you talking about…”

Xu Ye’s face turned white, his arms hanging by his sides were tense, and his eyes were shaking. He didn’t know where to look, but he still couldn’t completely leave the man who was close at hand. He wanted to explain, but he couldn’t explain. So he could only stand speechlessly as if a boulder pressed his chest, and he was so stuffy that he couldn’t breathe.

The corners of Chu Yu’s mouth slowly rose, but there was no trace of a smile in his eyes. He looked into Xu Ye’s eyes, and he said word by word, “I am looking forward to that day.”

Xu Ye’s pupils shrank suddenly, and he even stopped breathing. He felt himself being yanked back by Song Yuran and took a step backwards stiffly, allowing the man to walk past him. The white coat that he was wearing brought up waves of the air, and the familiar smell of perfume passed before his eyes.

It was the first time Xu Ye felt so panicked. It was as if he had been kicked down from a height of ten thousand feet, losing all sense of security that he could cling to.

“What’s wrong with you?” Song Yueran asked worriedly, “You look so pale.”

Xu Ye shook his head and smiled bitterly.

Chu Yu and Chu Xuan came to discuss business.

Xu Ye heard the general picture from their conversation. Early this morning, Song Wannian received a call from Chu Xuan, asking him to discuss the development of the land in Donglin. The third young master said lightly, “The meeting room is too boring. I heard that the scenery of Qianchuan is beautiful”, and Song Wannian immediately invited them here.

Xu Ye was not stupid, he didn’t think that someone like Chu Xuan would be keen to discuss projects with the two old foxes on his day off, and he also didn’t think that Chu Xuan would happen to know that Song Wannian has such a secret villa in Qingchuan. The only answer was that he had been instructed to do so.

Someone with an insight into the flow of information.

Someone who could easily control his own movements.

Someone who could command Chu Xuan.

       Who else could it be?

Not a moment too soon, not a moment too late. It was at the exact moment when he was staying out for a night alone, with a cold and strong sense of oppression, that made him feel at a loss for what to do and his heart beating like a drum. At this moment, this man named Chu Yu was telling him clearly that no matter where he was or what he had done, everything about him was under this man’s control. When he thought about it carefully, the sentence ‘Don’t always let me hear the word ‘sorry’’ was not idle talk but a warning.

He had been warned a long time ago, but he had foolishly and ignorantly broken the taboo.

Xu Ye’s eyes shakily circled around the man, and his palms were covered with cold sweat. But the other party didn’t look at him at all and was listening to Xu Ting’s presentation of the project while flipping through the architectural design booklet.

In terms of psychological stalemate, Xu Ye was no match for Chu Yu. He couldn’t figure out the other person’s mind at all and didn’t know what he would do to him. It was like having a shiny guillotine hanging over his head, not knowing when it would fall down and end him. All of his emotions were tugged and pulled out in a long wave of anxiety and panic.

His previous few painful experiences gave Xu Ye a clear picture of what would happen to him if he angered Chu Yu. At this moment, his only thought was to explain everything before the situation worsened. After he thought about it, he took out his phone, typed and deleted a message, briefly explained what happened yesterday, especially last night, and then sent it.

The phone on the table lit up. Chu Yu only glanced at the sender and put it aside, not even bothering to look closely. But Chu Xuan, who was sitting beside him, looked over at Xu Ye, his eyebrows and eyes all filled with teasing.

Xu Ye’s face was as white as frost.

Under Song Wannian’s careful arrangement, the Chinese foods served were exquisite and interesting. There were no four seafood delicacies1abalone, sea cucumber, shark fin, and fish maw, no greasy fishy smell, only seasonal fresh vegetables were selected for a few small stir-fries, and the non-vegetarian dishes were served with tender bamboo shoots paired up with bacon, steamed mullet fish, and a stewed old duck soup pot. Obviously suits the light taste of the two young masters. It was indeed a skill to cater to one’s preferences in a short period of time.

Xu Ye had no appetite at all, so he didn’t move his chopsticks after taking two bites. But he didn’t dare to leave the table, so he could only sit and keep company.

After the meal, Chu Xuan proposed to go for a walk on the mountain, so the group walked along the mountain road while talking. Xu Ye was full of desire to speak, but he kept hesitating. He finally waited for the distance between the few people on the narrow mountain road to widen. He quickened his pace and chased after Chu Yu, not daring to walk with him, so he could only call out in a low voice behind him, “Master…”

Chu Yu’s footsteps paused slightly, and he turned to his side. His starry eyes shimmered with dim and unclear light amidst the swaying shadows of the trees.

Xu Ye felt that the sight could almost penetrate his skin and bones. He froze from head to toe and muttered, “Can you give me a chance to explain…”

When he heard this sentence, Chu Yu’s eyes showed a hint of amusement, and he asked with a half-smile, “What do you want to explain?”

Xu Ye didn’t expect that he was willing to listen, so he was taken aback for a while and immediately explained what happened yesterday honestly.

The man stood under the tree and listened quietly. When he saw that Xu Ye had stopped speaking, he asked, “Are you finished?”

Xu Ye responded in a low voice, “Yes, I am.”

“Okay.” Chu Yu narrowed his gaze slightly, “Now it’s my turn to ask you an answer. Did anyone force you to go to Song Yuran’s appointment?”

“At the time, I thought it was a family gathering…” Xu Ye was anxious to defend himself, but he was interrupted.

The man’s voice was as cold as water, “I don’t want to hear unnecessary explanations.”

“…No.” Xu Ye lowered his eyes and answered. He did indeed enter the gate of this villa himself.

“Did you get a chance to leave before the two of you spent the night together?”

Xu Ye lowered his head and said dryly, “Yes.” With the convenience of communication facilities, if he insisted on leaving, he could have done so, but he did not.

“Raise your head.” Chu Yu’s voice was deep and cold, with undeniable strength.

Xu Ye trembled and raised his face. His eyes were full of fear.

“I allow you to make friends and arrange your own time.” The man’s eyes seemed to be full of wind and snow, “Did I allow you to stay out at night and share a bed with others?”

“…You didn’t.” Xu Ye didn’t dare to lower his head. His eyes were full of panic and regret as he bit his lips after forcing out the words.

“One last question. Before I got here, did you ever think about asking me for help or telling me everything?” This was what Chu Yu really cared about. Xu Ye’s attitude towards him seemed intimate, but there was a thick barrier behind him. He didn’t rely on him, he didn’t bother him, and he even tried to hide things from him when something happened.

Xu Ye opened his mouth but did not make a sound. His gaze trembled so much that he could only murmur, “Master…. I was wrong….”

The corner of Chu Yu’s lips lifted into a faint smile, his voice was gentle, yet it carried a pervasive coldness, “Xu Ye, there are many ways to play the game between you and me, but you have to choose the most unpleasant one.”

While talking, the people who were walking in front had turned back, and the group returned to the villa again and ate some fruits. Chu Xuan looked at his watch and said that there were still arrangements in the afternoon, so he wanted to leave.

Xu Ting and Song Wanhua rushed out, followed by Xu Ye and Song Yueran.

Chu Yu stood upright on the steps, turned around and asked casually, “Which party is leading the investment this time?”

Both Xu Ting and Song Wanhua were taken aback. The second young master Chu smiled faintly, “This piece of land has been in my father’s hands for some years. I mentioned to him the matter of building a resort a few days ago, and he is quite interested. Although there are many resorts under the Golden Eagle, there are only a few good ones. The idea that Xu Ye mentioned just now is very good, and it has been carefully considered, which is a little more innovative than the booklet Uncle Song showed me before.”

After these words were said, the whole room fell silent. Song Wanhua suddenly looked sideways at Xu Ting, who looked at Xu Ye blankly, and Song Yueran also looked at Xu Ye with wide eyes.

Xu Ye froze, feeling cold sweat on his palms and forehead. Everyone had seen how he had spoken to Chu Yu just now, but he could not refute Chu Yu’s words, so he could only remain silent. His silence is equivalent to acquiescing that the Xu family had set up a new scheme on the back of the Song family.

The Xu family had secretly made a different design to bypass the Song family and work directly with Golden Eagle. How could the Song family tolerate such an act of crossing the river and demolishing the bridge2betrayal?

Song Wanhua sneered, “This is a very good move by brother Xu.”

Xu Ting didn’t know what was going on and wondered if his son really had some good idea that won the second young master’s approval. He felt very happy to have the Golden Eagle’s attention, so he laughed and said, “I also don’t know. It must be this kid’s own idea.”

How could Song Wanhua believe it? Since the two Chu family members were present, they couldn’t have a fit, so he kept his face darkened and didn’t speak.

Chu Xuan hid any expression on his face, and when he saw Xu Ye’s changing expression, he couldn’t help laughing inside. He had been temporarily recruited as the second-in-command, and the business talk was just a cover. The real purpose of this trip was for his second brother to teach his unruly pet a lesson. Just a few words made the two families that were close enough to form an alliance, became full of suspicion. This was a very sharp move to cut off the root of the problem. The alliance between the Xu and Song families was probably about to break down, and the fate between Xu Ye and his rumoured girlfriend had also come to an end.

“Xu Ye, I’m very interested in your design concept and business philosophy.” Chu Yu got into the car with a faint smile on his face, “How about taking my car back and discussing it in detail on the way?”

Xu Ye only felt a chill run through his body. The tenderness this man gave him made him sometimes completely forget the other identity of the other party—the second young master of the wealthy family who called the wind and rain and covered the sky with one hand. When Chu Yu withdraws his gentleness, everything would be turned into a disaster.

Xu Ting was overjoyed to see the invitation from the second young master and gave his son a push. Song Wanhua was so angry that his hands were shaking, and he stood silently with his preoccupied daughter. Chu Xuan gave up the back seat with a wink and went to the back of the car.

Xu Ye got into the car with a pale face without saying a word and sat next to Chu Yu.

The extended Mercedes-Benz S550 gallops on the mountain road.

Silence filled the entire carriage, and the whole mood was depressing. Xu Ye plucked up his courage and tentatively called out, “Sir…” There was a driver, so he changed how he addressed Chu Yu.

The man glanced at him from the corner of his eyes and said, “Do you want to talk about design with me as a collaborator, or do you want to talk about other things with me?”

Xu Ye was stunned momentarily and replied, “I don’t understand design.”

“Okay.” Chu Yu pressed a button, and the partition screen unfolded, separating the front seats and enclosing the rear seats into a relatively airtight space. He looked at Xu Ye indifferently and said, “Then show the appearance that a slave should have. Take off your clothes, kneel down, and then talk to me.”

PS: 回HEL亲: It’s true that not every dom and sub pair will fall in love with one another. There are also situations in BDSM where one is together due to physical compatibility, similar to a one-night stand. It is also common for a dom to have multiple subs because of group size differences.

Notes:
I was actually confused on how to say 淺川, if I googled it, it’s called Asakawa, but I felt to translate it as Asakawa would make it awkward since it’s a word that sounds more like a place in Japan instead, so I decided to use the literal pinyin that is Qianchuan

Also Xu Ye this entire chapter:
