Chapter 23 – Qi Yun’s Wife

Chapter 23 – Qi Yun’s Wife

“Isn’t Qi Yun excellent? That child has never let me down ever since birth. He’s unlike any other.”

Madam Qi sat down gracefully and pointed in the direction opposite to her, “Sit down.”

Xing Zhongwan obliged and sat down in front of Madam Qi while Lao Hu poured a cup of tea for each of them. Madam Qi picked up the cup, “Come try and see if the tea from our Qi family is to your liking.”

Xing Zhongwan looked at the woman in front of him who had a smile plastered on her face. She was wearing a mask, making everything seem alright on the outside, even if it was all pretense.

Xing Zhongwan smiled before picking up the cup and taking a sip, “As expected, even the tea from a family as grand as the Qi’s is different.”

Madam Qi looked at him quietly without speaking for a long time. Xing Zhongwan didn’t panic and looked back at her with a smile. The two looked at each other for a long time before Madam Qi suddenly clapped her hands, “You’re really calm, it’s no wonder my son likes you so much.”

Xing Zhongwan played with the cuffs of his sleeves and narrowed his eyes, “Madam. If you have any questions, let’s get straight to the point. Don’t waste your time on me.”

Madam Qi’s eyes fell on Xing Zhongwan’s slightly exposed bracelet, “Do you know what that bracelet serves as?”

Xing Zhongwan rolled up his sleeves, “Madam, please elaborate.”

Madam Qi’s mouth curled up. It looked exactly like how Qi Yun would do it, “You are really a little sly fox, but I like it. I like to negotiate with smart people, I won’t need to waste my energy.”

“What does Madam want to talk to me about?

Madam Qi stood up, “I want you to stay by Qi Yun’s side. Regarding your mother’s matter, I will help you to settle it.”

Xing Zhongwan couldn’t help but laugh, “Although my father is useless, he takes his role as the head of the Xing family very seriously. He will not let outsiders interfere in the Xing’s household affairs. If Madam Qi intends to use power to oppress him, considering Xing Zhengping’s scoundrel-like personality, he will bite back if you pressure him. The change for the family head is just around the corner, if anything comes up, your father-in-law will… Madam, I know you won’t take this risk. You probably won’t meddle with the affair regarding my mother. “

The smile on Madam Qi’s face gradually faded, “I really underestimated you.”

Xing Zhongwan picked up the cup on the table and took a sip. She wanted to threaten me with my mother’s affairs. But there was no way it would happen. The Xing family had fallen a lot but it was impossible to simply interfere. Xing Zhengping was not just mindlessly sitting as the head of the family either.

“Since the third young master trusts you, you should take good care of him and stay by his side. He even gave you the bracelet, so you should continue to be Miss Xing. My son’s health has improved and you have spent a lot of effort on it too. But I also want to remind you that Ms. Xing will always remain as Ms. Xing. You shouldn’t get in touch with the Shen family. Know your place and don’t think about other impossible things.”

Xing Zhongwan suddenly felt that he couldn’t blame Qi Yun for how his personality turned out today. It was already a blessing that with such a selfish mother, his personality did not degenerate much more.

What did her words earlier mean? Since Qi Yun thinks that you are Miss Xing, then you will continue to abide by this role, keeping up with your identity as a nanny to take care of his daily needs without having any delusions about other things. A nanny will and should remain a nanny. He shouldn’t assume anything regarding his position in this situation. If his mother wanted to enter the Xing family smoothly, Xing Zhongwan would have to be obedient, otherwise Madam Qi wouldn’t mind making trouble for him.

Xing Zhongwan sneered, Madam Qi, you really thought it out well.

“Madam, I want to ask you. Is Qi Yun your real son? “

Xing Zhongwan got up, hiding his smile and feeling a chill.

Madam Qi, who was about to leave, stopped for a second, “He is from the Qi family so he should know his duty.”

Lao Hu opened the door and Madam Qi left without looking back.

Xing Zhongwan snorted, this time he really wanted to smoke a cigarette.

Xing Zhongwan was escorted out of the Qi’s house by Lao Hu. This Qi family was really something else, they brought Laozi here but didn’t care to send him back. How am I going to get back? Laozi didn’t drive here.

Xing Zhongwan was so angry that he really wanted to kick down the door. He’s wanted to do it since a long time ago! They were still as wicked as before, even the two guards who stood at the door were the same.

Xing Zhongwan’s cell phone rang, “Where are you? My plane just landed yesterday.”

Xing Zhongwan said with a sullen face, “I will send you a location. Come pick me up, Laozi was kidnapped and then left behind at the front gates.”

A woman’s laughter came over the phone, “Lao Xing, even you also have days like this, hahaha. Send the location to big sister and big sister will pick you up!” Xing Zhongwan endured the urge to throw his phone away and sent his location to Xue Qing. He felt some resentment in his heart, this time he got caught off-guard by this woman and was made into a joke.

Xing Zhongwan put the phone back in his pocket and looked up at the sky. The weather was really damned clear for some day like today. Qi Yun’s panicked eyes flashed in his mind, Xing Zhongwan couldn’t help but sigh. Qi Yun, Ah, Qi Yun, even you also have your moments of panic. You used to be an untouchable person, why would you let Wanwan be your weakness now?

That beautiful fifteen or sixteen-year-old boy from many years ago appeared in Xing Zhongwan’s mind. In the hospital, he took his hand. Although the young boy was under Mrs. Qi’s protection and was a prideful rascal, he was far from the cold-hearted person now. When Mrs. Qi passed away, he was only a half-grown child. In just a few years, his personality changed drastically. During this time, Xing Zhongwan could guess what he had experienced without even thinking about it.

Madam Qi regarded Qi Yun as a tool. A tool for seeking power.

After Mrs. Qi passed away, Qi Yun had no one who cared for him anymore. He had always been alone.

In the lobby of the Qi’s family villa, Qi Yun had been waiting at the door for a long time in a wheelchair. The old housekeeper advised him to eat first, but Qi Yun did not respond, and the servants dared not approach him.

Qi Yun’s face was pale and he looked forward with hollow eyes. It was obvious that he couldn’t see anything but didn’t want to close his eyes. In the evening, the weather gradually grew cooler so the old housekeeper took a blanket to put it on Qi Yun’s lap. Qi Yun turned around indifferently, “What did my mother promise to give you?”

The old housekeeper froze up and suddenly bowed down, “Third young master, I… I…”

“Money, fame and fortune? Or to erase the tens of millions of losses for your son?”

The old housekeeper turned pale, knelt on the ground and kowtowed to Qi Yun, “Third young master… Young master Qi, I can’t help it either. I only have one son and I can’t watch him die like this, Young master Qi.”

Qi Yun listened indifferently to the endless kowtows that reach his ears, “Things shouldn’t have turned out like this way for you and me, Auntie Jiang “

The old housekeeper’s forehead was reddened, and her dull eyes were full of tears. Aunt Jiang fell softly to the ground, “I’m sorry, Master Yun, I’m sorry!”

The man in front of her was the one she raised. She entered the Qi house in her twenties and took care of the little child sincerely and raised him like her own son, but when did it all change? He even used to pull on her sleeves. The little child who once asked for candy now made her tremble with fear with one glance.

The waning warmth of those years can never come back.

As the old housekeeper murmured sorry, Qi Yun turned his head away. He was still waiting, waiting for that someone to come back. The only one who gave him a glimmer of light in the endless darkness, the one who did not give up on him when he was down in the dirt and hated himself.

Qi Yun closed his eyes, before opening his bloodshot eyes, revealing a sense of conviction.

“Go tell my mother that I will accept her demands, but in exchange, she must promise me one thing.”

“I want to marry Wanwan.” The old housekeeper stopped her tears in surprise, “Third young master, this… this…Miss Xing is not…”

Qi Yun interrupted her, “You need not say more. Wanwan is Wanwan. Since you didn’t mention this from the beginning, let whatever you want to say rot inside your stomach.”

For Qi Yun, only that person can be his wife!

“That is to say, everyone was in the act of calling you Miss Xing even though they know you are a man? So Qi Yun may have been misled into thinking you are a woman?” Xue Qing took a sip of red wine, her face was full of disbelief, “Are you filming a drama?”

Xing Zhongwan waved his hand while wearing the bracelet, “I’m wearing his family heirloom and just regarding Qi Yun’s recent actions…” Xing Zhongwan held his forehead, “I really don’t think he knows that I am a man.”

Xue Qing put down the glass, “Do you want to listen to my opinion?”

Xing Zhongwan motioned for her to continue.

Xue Qing twirled the unruly strands of red hair on her head, “With the kind of person Qi Yun is…I’ve never had any contact with him but I’ve heard a lot about him. He is a man who is ruthless, has a cruel heart, not to mention he is just plain ruthless. The list of unscrupulous things goes on and on…”

Xing Zhongwan slapped the table with his palm, “Get to the point!”

“If he could see, he might’ve also pretended that you were a woman!”

Xing Zhongwan swung his palm over but Xue Qing grabbed it, “Lao Xing, don’t take it to heart and think rationally. We all know that your mother’s affair has been your deepest regret for many years. You’re anxious to settle things but Qi Yun has a complex mind. Don’t step into this, you’ll get pulled in again.”

Xing Zhongwan pulled back his hand, “You mean he was playing tricks on me?”

Xue Qing opened his hand, “So what you mean is that when I contacted Chen Ying, the person did not explain everything clearly and that he was never on my side at all. After all, he’s already seen me before but still calmly called me the Young Madam. Just who is the great Shen family? Will they really allow a man to be the Young Madam? I really don’t believe that there’s no one instigating this behind the scenes. There’s something wrong.”

“Qi Yun has endured humiliation for so long, why did he plainly hit rock bottom right in front of you?”

Xue Qing looked at Xing Zhongwan’s face getting darker and darker.

“Either he really likes you or he is using you! Lao Xing, weigh it out in your heart, only you can make a decision about this!”

T/N: Lao Xing, better make up your mind~

Also, talk about bad parenting… Qi Yun’s mother really is something else. That terrible woman… Does she have a reason for being so cold and clinging onto power? And as for the old housekeeper, I can’t say that I’ll be able to forgive her if I were in Qi Yun’s shoes, but at least she has some sympathy for her own son vs. Madam Qi who only regards her own son as a tool.

I hope you’re well and all is good in your lives, if you like cats (i love love love cute fluffy stuff <3) I reccomend you check out Revenge of the Garfield, translated by my friend. Don’t be fooled by the name though, I believe it has minimal face-slapping and more fluffy moments!!

This Sly Dragon’s Getting a Little Too Close For Comfort Chapter 2

After a few weeks had passed, when Wenyi and Jueqing began to realize that Zhennan would not regain his memory, they began to act strange. That was what his sister Rongtze had said anyway. To Zhennan, they had always been strange from the very beginning.

Before Zhennan had come here, he was sure the original owner of his body was already receiving some crazy spartan training from Wenyi. However, according to Rongtze, Aunt Wenyi would never cross the line and endanger his life for the sake of making him stronger. Aunt Jueqing would usually also speak up for Zhennan and ask her to tone it down, but for the past 6 months, they had treated him like they were training a battle slave.

Or at least that was what his sister had been shouting as she clutched Zhennan’s scarred hands tightly. The tears streaming down her face reminded him of his own older sister in his original world who was also quite protective of him after both their parents died in an accident. He wondered if his real sister would be alright after finding out about his death. He hopes she won’t be too sad.

As Rongtze was angrily reciting profanities, Wenyi’s face was also dark but she didn’t say a word back and silently let her niece berate her. Zhennan felt bad watching this family fight break out but he couldn’t butt in.

He literally could not. With his entire body bandaged up like a mummy after sustaining those (probably) life-threatening injuries from falling off Thundering Peak’s slippery cliff while sword fighting with Aunt Wenyi. Most of his bones were broken after falling from that height but oddly enough, he didn’t feel much pain, really. He felt more hurt looking at Rongtze and Wenyi fighting.

He felt himself getting more and more tired before everything faded to black.

“Hey, Secretary Li. What are you looking at?”

He almost jumped ten feet into the air.

“Oh, it’s nothing.” Zhennan quickly closed the app and tucked his phone away into his pocket.

He was almost caught slacking off at work. He was hardly distracted during work, but the novel he picked up last night was just too intriguing.

His boss frowned and that was when Zhennan knew that he was about to be fired.

However, before he could explain himself, a gentle hand reached out to ruffle his auburn hair.

“Have the rest of the day off, the dark circles around your eyes are getting worse these days.”

???

He was ready to receive a scolding at the bare minimum, but this was…

Could his boss have meant: ‘You can go back home but don’t come back or show your face at work ever again if you intend to really leave??

A shiver went up his spine, however before his boss could say another word, Zhennan profusely bowed at him.

“I’m really sorry, director. I will be more diligent next time!” As he was about to run off to his office, his arm was grabbed tightly.

Turning around, he realized that it was the director’s hand that was stopping him. It must’ve been his imagination, but for a second, the look the other had on his face… was it one of hurt? That was impossible. Director Qiu was a cold, complex man that no one could read. There was no way he could’ve made that pitiful expression. Zhennan thinks he should really stop staying up late to read this novel, it made him hallucinate something strange.

When he took a second glance up at the other’s face, it was already replaced by a smile.

“Since you have the rest of the day off, let’s go have lunch together.” His boss had spoken nonchalantly while leaning in close to his face.

Was his boss inviting him to his own farewell lunch?!

He wanted to take a few steps back, anything to increase the distance between them, but he couldn’t due to the firm grip his boss had on his arm.

“Ahaha… It’s alright. I’m going back to work right this instant.” And please don’t fire me, he thought.

When his boss finally loosened his hands, Zhennan could no longer walk away. Turns out it wasn’t his imagination after all…

“Why… Zhennan, why are you always running away from me?” His boss, no– Linghua was looking down and due to their height difference, Zhennan could clearly see the emotion he had on his face. It made him look like a kicked puppy.

Huh?! Why are you the one crying? I’m the one who’s going to be out of job soon!

Feeling awkward, Zhennan quickly took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped away the tears that were threatening to trickle down his boss’ face.

“Haih… we have a general conference scheduled in thirty minutes. I can’t promise you lunch, but we can both get off work earlier to have dinner… Is that okay, director Qiu?” He added the last part quietly. After all, who would be daring enough to ask their boss whether they could leave early, much less apply for half a days’ worth of leave.

As soon as Zhennan finished speaking, his boss straightened up right away. Any trace of his previous fragility completely disappeared.

“Alright then, it’s a promise.” He had said as the corners of his eyes creased.

“What about the promise?”

Zhennan could still hear shouting.

“There’s no more time, we have no choice!”

He slowly opened his eyes, but there was a cool, wet cloth blocking his vision. His head hurt and his entire body felt hot. Did he have a fever?

“It’s for his own good! He’ll never survive out there if we don’t…”

The loud voices had slightly changed from before. As he slowly got up, the cloth naturally fell away from his face. Who was shouting…?

“There’s no point if you kill him yourself before the gates open!” Jueqing had her forehead buried in her hands as she towered above Wenyi. Wenyi sat on a stone stool with her hands crossed. Her eyes were shut tight but the area around them was reddened.

“His departure ceremony… isn’t there a way we could just-”

Jueqing shook her head. “It’s… our obligation. The only thing we can do for him has to be done now, we can’t…”

“What departure ceremony?”

The two women looked towards the direction of a third voice. It was hoarse and weak but held more conviction that the two combined.

Wenyi got up from her seat. Her mouth opened and closed a few times but no words came out.

The novel Zhennan read was called 《画龙点眼》. Literally, the meaning of its title was to dot the eyes on the dragon. What it really meant was to add-on to perfection, making something more perfect. Before reading the novel, most readers would probably think that the title was meant to describe the protagonist and the female lead. However, after Zhennan read half the chapters, he began to think that maybe the author was alluding to the protagonist’s and the villain’s relationship. Though the protagonist’s life was tough and he often got involved in conflict, he somehow managed to turn the situation around to its most desirable outcome, making it a perfect world.

Somehow, wherever the protagonist went, the dragon villain was always there too. The dragon was not evil, Zhennan thinks. In fact, both the protagonist and dragon both shared similar ideals, which was to ultimately make the world a better place. However, no matter how much the effort the protagonist made in ensuring that his world was perfect, the problem that the real world faced was much harder to fix.

In this world, ether was slowly beginning to fade and become corrupted. Whether it was from overuse or if it were because the Gods have abandoned the now independent creatures on Earth who have long forsaken them, no one knew why this was happening.

Ether was an important commodity for magic to work. Growing crops, moving mechanical machines and even the simplest magic spells required ether. As such, there were many greedy people who wanted to hoard as much magic for as long as possible. Many who were over-reliant on the once abundant ether began to suffer.

This dragon villain was not only as powerful as the protagonist (or perhaps even more). They even worked together to protect the Golden Pavilion City from an evil third party. It was there where they both gained a higher respect for one another. Of course, at the time, both parties did not know it was each other even if it was not the first time they both met. The protagonist only thought that it was a random stranger who was as well-matched as him in terms of power. The dragon had transformed into a different human form while the protagonist donned an identity-sealing mask. After they defeated the evil third party, they were dragged into the ninth layer of hell. Even though the evil third party had attacked his home, the protagonist still wanted to forgive him. But as the evil third party was at the brink of death; he refused to admit defeat and used a forbidden cursed technique.

It was there where they both gained a sort of trust and respect for one another, but ultimately where they understood that both of them will never be on the same side. During the tribulation to open the second layer of hell’s doorway, the protagonist blocked a fatal attack for the still-disguised dragon, causing his mask to crack and its magic identity-sealing properties to fade away. At the time, the dragon quickly brought him away and healed the unconscious protagonist. After that, they quickly cleared the remaining tribulation which sent them both to different locations. The last tribulation happened to be the simplest, which was to answer a single question honestly.

After he went back to the Golden Pavilion City, the Herma female lead had sensed some dark magic on him. Only a handful of people knew how to use dark magic proficiently, one of them being the dragon villain. When he thought back on the mysterious stranger’s fighting techniques, he immediately realized that it was that same dragon villain all along but also began wondering if the other was truly evil.

Whatever happened next, Zhennan thought it was weird how a dragon, which was a creature born of magic, wanted to destroy magic while the protagonist, who was a human, wanted to save it.

“Big brother…” Rongtze was out of breath. She finally managed to locate him in the library after looking for him everywhere.

After Zhennan was told of his fate, he began to work harder during physical and ether manipulation training. Even though he stayed in the same room as his sister, they hardly saw each other. They used to eat their meals together, however, to be cost-efficient about his time, Zhennan had opted to eat magical pills to sate his hunger and fulfil his daily nutrition intake requirements. He wished that they had magical pills in his previous world, it would’ve made his work a lot easier and he wouldn’t have passed out so often when he forgot to eat for a few days.

He was never much of an outdoors person, however after knowing the contents of the novel, he’d be pretty damned if he didn’t try his best to learn as much as he could while he was still permitted to stay in Secret Vermillion Forest City. The last time he properly exercised was probably when he was still in high school for some compulsory marathon event, but even then, he was sure he came in dead last for his category.

Even so, luckily once he puts his mind into doing something, he won’t give up so easily. Even if the daily training Wenyi and his other teachers put him through was tough, he will have to put up with it to prepare for the eventual apocalyptic event that occurs in the novel.

When he first overheard Wenyi and Jueqing’s argument, he wasn’t even angry that he was the only one who had to leave. If anything, he felt almost nothing but numb. After all, some children in his world were chased out by their parents as soon as they turned 18. He could just treat it as something similar to that. Besides, aunt Wenyi and Jueqing along with Rongtze weren’t really his actual family. The only family he had left was his sister, who he had left behind after passing on to this world. Both his parents had left him early too, when his real sister and him where just 16 and 12 respectively. None of their relatives would take him in because they believed he was a child of bad luck, and although they did not outright say it, he believed they also blamed him for his parent’s death.

This should’ve been an easy thing to accept, he’s experienced this before. But for some reason, what he couldn’t accept was why he had to experience the same thing in his new life too. Even if he wanted to get angry and yell at the elders for coming up with such a ridiculous prophecy or even his aunts for just allowing this to happen, he had no right to. After all, this life wasn’t really his. In fact, it was just someone else’s life that he borrowed.

Four months had already passed since he came to this world.

“Talk to me, please.” Rongtze begged. “I hardly get to see my favourite twin anymore these days, what’s wrong?”

Zhennan kept quiet. They weren’t supposed to talk in the library anyways.

“Li Zhennan.” Rongtze hardly used that tone with him.

Re-ravelling his scroll, he turned to face his sister. She looked so alike to him; except she had a sharper gaze.

“You mean your only twin?” Zhennan whispered.

Rongtze sat down on top of the table in front of him before hugging his head.

“Don’t worry. I won’t ever leave you alone. We will find a way.”

Zhennan only sighed before hugging his sister back.

To be honest, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to stay either. If he were to choose between the brutal training and crazy women, or the incoming apocalyptic event in the future, he’d take his chances on the outside world, far from Secret Vermillion Forest City. Besides, there were still a few other places that were said to be safe from ether corruption, such as the Golden Pavilion City where the protagonist lived.

Of course, for now he could still endure a few more years here. He’ll treat it as some mandatory bootcamp to prepare him for his upcoming departure, but to live here for the rest of his life and undergo such strict daily regiments?! He used to be a sedentary office worker… to suddenly be thrust in such an active lifestyle was torture to a modern-day human like himself.

Squirming out of his sister’s strangely strong hug, he said. “I’m going to wash up. Wenyi wants us to practice sword fighting again at Thundering Peak at sunset.”

Walking out of the library, he was about to shut the door gently when his sister followed him outside too.

In silence, they walked through the open courtyard corridors, passing by a field where many other Herma disciples were training. When they finally reached their shared room, he slowly opened the bamboo doors only to be pounced by a very familiar looking phoenix. As it made itself comfortable on his shoulders and dr4p3d its wing feathers around his face, it also began to lick Zhennan’s short hair. He had cut it short after he recovered from his fever. As a modern-day person, having long hair felt a little weird to him, especially when some of the strands would tickle the back of his head. After the people around him noticed that he trimmed his hair, they were shocked but said nothing about it. They looked away guiltily, probably thinking that he had a deeper reason for doing so, but really, he just thought it was too much of a hassle to maintain. Plus, summer was coming and it was getting hotter and hotter every day.

Back to the strange creature… As soon as it started ‘grooming’ Zhennan’s hair, he recognized it right away. It was that stinky firebird from last time!! What was it doing in their room?! Seems like it has gotten smaller since the last time they saw each other…

His sister behind him quickly tried to grab the offending creature.

“Oi, you damn chicken! Don’t eat Zhennan’s hair!” She shouted while pulling it from its neck. Too bad it didn’t budge, instead, it clutched onto Zhennan more tightly with its claws.

Rongtze always had a short temper, much like aunt Wenyi. Getting angry, she immediately squeezed its head and forcefully pulled on it. Because it was a particularly prideful bird, at the risk of its head feathers being torn off, it quickly got off Zhennan’s shoulders and flew away to perch on the table inside their room.

It made an aggrieved chirp at Rongtze before starting to tend to its own feathers with its beak.

Zhennan gave it a quick glance before entering the room himself and gathering fresh new clothes to change into after his bath. The phoenix had probably gotten smaller after moulting off its previous round’s fireskin. Sure enough, when Zhennan took a closer look, the stinky firebird had an additional seventh feature on its tail now.

“Why is this thing in our room?” He asked.

Rongtze looked casually between him and the firebird before replying. “Well, probably it’s mating season and the turkey’s restless so the conservation department decided to let it fly freely for a while. A training collar has been put on it so if anything happens, they can stun and recapture it immediately.”

The prideful phoenix hissed at Rongtze for a moment when the word ‘turkey’ came out of her mouth.

Zhennan nodded thoughtlessly, not really listening as he was tired. “Perhaps we could let her stay inside in the meantime so she won’t be chased by other ho-ny male birds.”

He picked up the stinky firebird and wanted to pat its head feathers, feeling that the tiny thing seemed a little pitiful. However, before he could do so, his sister quickly cast a space-splitting spell directed towards the phoenix in his hand. “You…! Get away from my brother!”

And just like that, there was now a massive hole in the wall where the spell hit. The lucky phoenix managed to dodge the potentially feather-decimating spell and quickly flew out the freshly-made hole.

Originally, Zhennan felt sleepy. Now he was wide awake.

Looking at his sister, he was bewildered at her reaction.

Could she have been jealous?

He slowly walked over to her and reached out his hand to pat her head, just like his older sister used to.

Rongtze only swatted his hand away and shouted at him, “Stay here!”

Without any further explanation, she quickly rushed outside. What came back was a bobbing large wooden basin with a paper folding screen inside it. The large wooden basin was plopped on the floor and behind it was his sister. She took out the paper folding screen and summoned a water spirit to fill the tub.

“Zhennan. From now on, don’t bathe in the clear cavern pool anymore.” At that moment, his sister’s eyes looked particularly deadly so he only gulped and nodded.

When his sister went to get some soap, he quickly stripped and went to sit inside the tub. The water was cool and refreshing, making him sigh. When Rongtze returned, she insisted on helping him scrub his hair. He was too tired right now to refuse.

“Promise me you’ll come back to rest tonight?”

Zhennan nodded, at the brink of dozing off as his sister comfortably massaged his scalp.

Before he went out to meet Wenyi, he opened the window by his bed, feeling a little bad at the thought of the phoenix being chased around by other birds though the thought of more tiny chirping baby birds did seem cute.

That night after he returned from the tough training, he was about to pass out in his bed but realized that it was filled with many high-ether crystals and colourful feathers. He reached out his hand to remove the strange assortment of objects but quickly retracted them when he touched a white glue-like liquid.

“That damn chicken is going to become sticky honey roast tomorrow!” His sister had suddenly appeared right behind him.

Zhennan sighed as he wiped his hands using the clean parts of the quilt. Just what is that weird-smelling liquid?

“It’s alright, I’ll just sleep in your bed tonight.”

His sister was fuming earlier, but after hearing the second part of his sentence, she brightened up significantly.

“Oh okay! Let’s go now~” She chimed, hooking her arm with her brother’s.

That night, Zhennan had no way of knowing but as Rongtze watched his peacefully sleeping face, she was muttering under her breath.

“Must somehow keep brother locked inside, can’t let other ho-ny males come near…”

A/N: When Zhennan realizes that there is something wrong with his sister, it would probably be too late. Lul

Chapter 22 – Which male vixen managed to captivate you?!

Xing Zhongwan decided to teach Qi Yun a lesson and pulled his own mattress closer towards the door.

Although Qi Yun couldn’t see this, judging from the sounds he heard, he could probably guess what Xing Zhongwan was doing.

“I was wrong, please come back.” Qi Yun felt helpless and Xing Zhongwan snorted, “Shut up, I don’t want to listen to you now.”

Qi Yun helplessly furrowed his eyebrows, “I will shut up if you come back. Going so far away… if I call you at night. What will you do if you can’t hear me?”

Xing Zhongwan opened his quilt and was about to lie down, “Just yell louder.”

Qi Yun lowered his head. He looked like he had just suffered a great loss. Xing Zhongwan lifted his quilt again. Looks like I really owed you a lot in your previous life1This is a common chinese saying. In our culture, we believe in reincarnation. So when you find yourself doing a lot for someone else, perhaps you might’ve owed them a lifetime’s worth of debt, which carried forward to your current life.. Xing Zhongwan pulled the mattress back to its original position and got inside the quilt, “I came back. You can sleep now.”

Qi Yun said helplessly, “I’m still sitting up, can you help me?”

Xing Zhongwan’s face was dark but he turned around, “Aren’t you capable of that yourself? You weren’t afraid of the pain when you fell down today.” After saying that, he got up to tuck Qi Yun into bed and even covered him with the quilt.

While he was doing so, he also turned off the lamp.

The room was silent and Xing Zhongwan’s soft breathing soon filled the room. Qi Yun previously suggested that he should place another small bed in the bedroom but Xing Zhongwan refused without even thinking twice about it, saying that he was fine with lying on the ground. Qi Yun knew in his heart that Xing Zhongwan was just worried that he would bump into the bed if the room was too crowded as his eyes could not see.

Qi Yun dropped his hand and felt around for a while before finding Xing Zhongwan’s hand and holding it for a while. His skin was smooth and the fingers were long and well maintained. Qi Yun’s hand gradually moved up and across from Xing Zhongwan’s neck to his face. He brushed Xing Zhongwan’s chin, lips, bridge of nose, eyes, eyebrows and forehead for a bit before Qi Yun’s mind had a very vague outline of his appearance. Although he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he was certain that Xing Zhongwan was very beautiful and that his facial features were very delicate.

Qi Yun slowly retracted his hand before looking at the ceiling with both his eyes wide open.

No matter who you might be, since you have come to me, I will never let you go.

The bright morning sun shone on Xing Zhongwan’s face. He frowned and opened his eyes as his fuzzy consciousness gradually became clearer. He took a deep breath and sat up slowly. Out of habit, he looked in Qi Yun’s direction. He was still sleeping quietly. His skin was pale and almost translucent as the morning light hit his face. Xing Zhongwan stretched out and yawned before his eyes stopped at Qi Yun’s crotch where there was a suspicious bulge…

Xing Zhongwan turned his head and coughed twice, all men understood this phenomena very well. Brother, you are very energetic, haha. Xing Zhongwan felt that he couldn’t bear to stay in this room anymore so he got up, quickly packed up, and quietly returned to his room on the second floor.

As the door was gently closed, Qi Yun on the bed opened his eyes as his right hand slowly reached towards his crotch, his face expressionless.

When eating breakfast, neither of them spoke. The dining room was quiet and scary. Today, Xing Zhongwan didn’t feel like he wanted to speak much and Qi Yun was even more unlikely to take the initiative to speak first. The servants on the side were all trembling, hoping to become invisible.

Xing Zhongwan slowly ate sandwiches. He was in a strange mood. Turning his head, he glanced at Qi Yun who was holding the bowl steadily and eating the porridge in small sips. Suddenly, it was as if he had telepathy, he looked at Xing Zhongwan, “Wanwan, are you looking at me?”

The sandwich in Xing Zhongwan’s hand fell on the table with a thud. Qi Yun, you’re actually not blind, are you?

Just as he was about to pick it up, a group of people arrived at the door.

Without a word, they walked towards Xing Zhongwan. A hand then landed on his shoulders, “Miss Xing, the Madam wants to see you.”

Qi Yun paused with the bowl in his hand. He had a rare expression of panic on his face, “Go back and tell mother if there is anything, she should come to me. Don’t trouble Wanwan.”

The person’s face became cold and didn’t leave any room for Qi Yun’s pride, “Third young master, Madam only wants to see Miss Xing. Naturally, she will send Miss Xing back after she is done. Let’s go, Miss Xing.”

Xing Zhongwan was put in a tight spot. He frowned and said to Qi Yun, “I’m alright. I’ll be back soon.”

Qi Yun shifted uncomfortably and the bowl in his hand was not properly placed back on the table. It fell onto the marble floor and shattered into pieces…

“Wanwan!” Qi Yun’s face was pale. He knew that he wanted to stop what was happening but his legs were too weak. He stretched out his hand to hold Wanwan back. Xing Zhongwan smiled, “I’m fine. Just wait.” Qi Yun’s hands came back empty as the sound of tables and chairs dragging along the floor reached his ears. He could feel Xing Zhongwan’s breathing and body warmth getting further and further away from him. Qi Yun dived forward but the wheelchair was unstable so he fell to the ground. The servants around couldn’t help but gasp. Qi Yun clenched his fists tightly against the smooth ground. The sound of his nails against the floor was grating and his hands were popping with veins. Qi Yun’s eyes were bloodshot as he raised his head with much difficulty, calling out for Wanwan.

Xing Zhongwan was escorted forcefully out of the villa. He said lightly, “Let go, I can walk on my own.” The person holding him obviously didn’t want to let go so Xing Zhongwan took a deep breath. With a quick backhanded smack, the person fell to the ground. A straight jab came at him from the back but Xing Zhongwan managed to avoid it, grabbing the person’s arm, he forcefully twisted it. A crisp sound followed by a painful scream followed. Xing Zhongwan then kicked the person down and dusted off his shoulders, “Laozi wants to solve this peacefully. Don’t force me to do this. I hate strangers touching me the most.”

He narrowed his eyes as a trace of anger flashed through them. From nearby, a black car stopped in front of him and a person came out, applauding Xing Zhongwan, “I’ve heard of you before. Only now have I finally got to meet the famous Second Young Master Xing. “

Xing Zhongwan looked at the person who just arrived and interrupted him, “The Xing family has not had two young masters for a long time now. Go back and ask Xing Zhengping, does the Xing family have such a person?”

The man bowed slightly, “Whether it is Second Young Master Xing or Xing Zhongwan, the Madam wants to see you. It was us who were rude just now. Please come with me.”

Xing Zhongwan took out a lollipop from his pocket, “What should I call you?”

The man smiled, “I am the personal secretary of Madam Qi, you can call me Lao Hu.”

Xing Zhongwan patted the dust on the trench coat. Lao Hu wasn’t just a common lapdog, he was also a sly old fox.

Xing Zhongwan originally thought that Madam Qi would find a hidden place to see him, but he did not expect it to be at the Qi family’s estate. Xing Zhongwan got out of the car and looked at the door of Qi’s house. He looked around but didn’t know if that trash can from that time was still there.

Xing Zhongwan was taken to the living room on the third floor. Led by Lao Hu to the study, he was informed that Madam Qi would arrive in a while. Xing Zhongwan looked around boredly and found a few photos on the desk. When he walked over, he saw Qi Yun. Qi Yun in the photo was wearing a black suit with a cold temperament. Those eyes looked straight at the camera without a trace of emotion. Xing Zhongwan thought that the photographer back then was probably sweating in fear. He left the desk and the row of cabinets behind were filled with lots of awards and certificates, apart from the occasional rows of obscure books. Xing Zhongwan looked around more before realizing that this was Qi Yun’s study when he was still living in the Qi’s house. It was no wonder he felt cold as soon as he came in. The room seemed to have taken after its owner.

“I’ve wanted to meet you for a long time now. We finally meet.” A lady’s voice suddenly came from behind. It was cold, utterly cold. Xing Zhongwan looked back and saw a woman in a red suit. Her hair was neatly combed behind her and she looked very young as her figure was well maintained. You could tell by just looking at her face that she must’ve been related to Qi Yun since they looked so alike.

It’s just that Qi Yun looked ethereal and hard to get close to, while the woman in front of him was beautiful but had features that were too sharp; for instance, her eyes were sharp like a knife.

Xing Zhongwan smiled, “Hello, Madam Qi.”

A tall woman in the luggage waiting area was talking on the phone. There were people around her secretly watching her.

The woman was tall with her hair cut very short. The sides of her hair on both sides were shaved off while the top of her head was dyed in a bright burgundy shade. She wore a pair of sunglasses on her high-bridged nose and a low-breasted, black vest under her small leather jacket. There were also a pair of straight and slender legs in fishnet stockings under her short skirt. The high heels that she wore were more than ten centimeters high, making her stand out more from the crowd.

“Sissy, I’m here waiting for my luggage. You can rest assured that I will take care of your old professor.”

She chewed gum in her mouth before suddenly taking off her glasses and casting a wink at the man who was staring at her. The man took a deep breath and almost fainted.

Cheng Zhengzhe was still working overtime late at night, holding a mobile phone in one hand and a document in the other, “Xue Qing, keep a low profile when you go back this time and don’t cause any trouble for Lao Xing. Come back immediately when you settle things there and take good care of Professor Gao.”

Xue Qing hummed before hanging up the phone.

She took out her mobile phone and sent a text message. Chen Ying, I brought the person. Decide on a time and send me the location.

Xue Qing slipped her phone in the bag and put on her sunglasses again.

Lao Xing, Lao Xing. I want to see which male vixen managed to captivate you and I want to thank him properly for stealing away the scrooge that you are and letting potentially thousands of innocent men and women live their love lives properly.

T/N: Hey guys! Hope you’re well. Here’s another update.

I really love strong, powerful woman allies in danmei/BL stories. I’ve read of petty, homophobic female rivals doing everything they can to make sure that the MC and ML don’t get together more times than I can count. It makes me a little sad. After all, I feel that it kinda gives women a bad rep. Well, they DO exist in reality sometimes but the kind-hearted, smart and strong female friend trope needs more love okay?

Xue Qing’s super feisty and we’ll get to see more of her in the future ᕙ(`▿´)ᕗ

Chapter 2 – Puffy Food

Chapter 2 – Puffy1When food is deep-fried, it expands a little and becomes sort of puffy-looking. Food

He didn’t know if it was his own imagination but he felt the Lightbrain become silent for a moment, as if he was talking about an impossible dream.

Jian Luo became angry: “Are you lagging?”

The Lightbrain finally spoke: “There are two conditions that need to be fulfilled to become an excellent farmer.”

Only two? This will be easy.

“First: Total household savings must reach 1 million Stars Dollars.”

“Second: Have a Dark Star registry ID account.”

This was beyond Jian Luo’s common knowledge. The first one was relatively understandable. As for the one regarding the account, was it not commonplace for one’s ID account to be registered from birth?

Jian Luo hesitated: “How do I get a Dark Star ID account?”

The Lightbrain froze for a second, as if it was questioning Jian Luo’s IQ.

Jian Luo became annoyed and angry: “Are you going to spit it out?”

The Lightbrain checked very quickly: “Humans need to meet two conditions in order to obtain a Dark Star household registration. First, make a special contribution to the Dark Star. Second, the total household output must reach 10 tons of vegetables per year.”

Jian Luo felt like cold water had been poured over him: “So I don’t stand a chance?”

The Lightbrain was still processing: “No, you do.”

“Really?” Jian Luo was suddenly excited: “What must I do?”

“By marrying a Dark Star, you will be able to get a Dark Star account. In doing so, you can also leave Peace Paradise and head to the Sky city.”

As a dependent race, human beings were only allowed to live in Peace Paradise which was at the bottom. Most of the Dark Stars were basically living in Sky city, which was the most prosperous and high-tech capital of Dark Star.

The corner of Jian Luo’s mouth twitched: “What a joke. How could I marry2In the chinese language, the word marry is gender-specific. Jià 嫁 is to marry into a guy’s family while Qǔ 娶 is specific for marrying a woman out of her family. a man? Why don’t you just tell me to get pregnant?”

The Lightbrain said: “As of now, the possibility of marriage for you is 20%. As for the probability of pregnancy…”

Jian Luo was actually f/king curious, he had to hear this: “How much is it?”

“0%.” The Lightbrain said: “According to Big data calculations, if you manage to successfully marry a Dark Star, you can obtain a registered ID. The Dark Stars have stopped giving birth to new life a hundred years ago. If you can get pregnant successfully, you will become the entire planet’s hope.”

Jian Luo was stunned: “A hundred years? Then how was this race still the strongest in the universe? Wasn’t it going extinct?”

“You don’t have to worry. The Dark Stars have the best technology for cloning and regeneration.” The Lightbrain felt as though he was giving a lesson: “Especially for dragons like the Marshal or His Majesty. It is not a problem for them to survive for hundreds of years.”

Jian Luo was still puzzled: “Why was there no new life being born?”

Could it be that the entire species was infertile?

This was too shocking.

“Dark Star’s people are born brave and good at fighting as well as elites in various fields. The more advanced the children of the race are, the harder it is for them to be conceived.” The Lightbrain lightly explained with an example: “For the powerful dragon clan and blood clan, even after a hundred years, it is difficult for them to conceive cubs. In the universe, this is just common sense.”

Jian Luo was silent for a while: “Why do I feel as though you are shaming us humans?”

The Lightbrain said carefully: “Humans rarely have twins. Most of them have one child at a time so their level can also be considered high.”

Okay, that makes sense.

Jian Luo was actually persuaded by its logic.

“Forget it, let’s not talk about these unrealistic things.” Jian Luo asked, “Is there an entertainment section? Like live broadcasting or something? I’ll have a look.”

The Lightbrain thoughtfully transferred him to the largest entertainment section. Live broadcasts regarding food will always be the most popular channel on Dark Star, because this powerful planet loves delicious food.

Jian Luo scrolled around and found that there were various kinds of food but almost all of them were limited to cooking with new flavors of nutrient solution or meat. None involved vegetables.

In his previous life, he was a blogger and liked to study marketing.

As such, he was naturally interested in new platforms. After being introduced to it, he wouldn’t be able to lose interest so quickly.

After spending all morning in his nest, Jian Luo got hungry again in the afternoon. He tried to get up from the bed but started coughing wildly before he could take another two steps. His whole body even started to tremble.

“Brother?” His younger brother appeared at the door and came to support Jian Luo.
Jian Luo’s face turned red: “It’s okay.”

The younger brother helped him to sit down: “Brother hasn’t recovered yet, don’t simply walk around.”

“It’s okay.” Jian Luo felt that he might finally hear the reason why he was in this state: “Mom isn’t here so can you tell me how I got hurt?”

The younger brother was shocked for a moment before he closed his eyes with a guilty conscience.

Jian Luo frowned: “Are there only three of us in the family?”

His younger brother nodded. He knew about his brother’s amnesia, so he said, “Dad passed away very early on and our mother has always been the one to raise us.”

Jian Luo thought that sure enough, even though his body was only in its early 20s, he was a little weak, like a farm chicken that hasn’t been fed well.

The younger brother hesitated for a moment: “Big brother, you were injured after trying to protect mom.”

Jian Luo: “Tell me more about it.”

So next, his younger brother briefly explained the ins and outs of the matter. In Dark Star, the law was that the strong ate the weak. This was especially true in Peace Paradise, which was under looser regulations. Whoever had money and power had the greatest right.

Peace Paradise’s main source of income came from growing and exporting melons and fruits.

Both Jian Luo and his younger brother, Jian Sheng were still students, so the burden of the family fell on the woman named Su Liang. How much labor could a woman bear? Her efforts would only amount to a single drop in a bucket.

That was not the worst part.

Su Liang was beautiful and her husband was dead. Naturally, it was easy for her to become coveted. After the original owner of his body came back from school, he happened to see someone trying to r/pe his mother, so he fought the other person. However, he was too weak, resulting in his beat up appearance now.

His younger brother, Jian Sheng said, “Big brother, that group of people was really too much. They even threatened us to pay for their medical expenses!”

Jian Luo widened his eyes: “What?”

“It’s because you hit him in order to protect mom so he came back to ask us to pay for his medical expenses.”

Jian Luo was fuming: “Mom was afraid that they would cause trouble, so she could only give them the money.”

Jian Luo: “Isn’t this illegal?”

Jian Sheng sat cross-legged on the bed: “It’s because of their little sister.”

Jian Luo: “So what?”

“Their little sister is married to a Dark Star.” Jian Sheng said, “That’s why they can do whatever they want in Peace Paradise.”

“…”

Jian Luo was speechless: “Do Dark Stars have so much power?”

The younger brother smiled and said, “In school, humans cannot study with the Dark Stars. If humans violate the rules, they will be expelled from school. If the Dark Stars violate them, they will just receive a scolding.”

Jian Luo fell silent.

He’s travelled to the future, but the future was dark.

This family only had a house with four walls to protect them. His only mother was coveted by those evil b/stards and his younger brother has to go to school. The remaining one capable of labor was Jian Luo, who was still crippled in bed.

“…”

What a painful life.

Jian Luo looked at his younger brother who followed his gaze. He didn’t notice it before but he realized that although this child looked scrawny and his skin was an unhealthy yellow, he had big eyes.

He was only about ten years old and the clothes he was wearing were tattered.

Jian Sheng asked cautiously, “Big brother, will you be okay?”

Jian Luo snapped out of his thoughts and said kindly: “Choi3An exclamation similar to touchwood, what can happen to your big brother, aren’t I still healthy right now…cough cough!”

He couldn’t control himself and started coughing wildly.

His younger brother patted him on the shoulder and said, “Big brother, I don’t want to go to school anymore.”

Jian Luo wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes: “What nonsense are you saying? When I’m no longer here, what can you do when you’re just a little brat?”

Jian Sheng looked at him: “But big brother, with you like this now…”

“I won’t die!”

Jian Luo was not a pessimist, nor was he someone who will sit still. Thinking of the entertainment channel he watched today, it seems that he would need to sign with them to become a host there. However, the potential host must submit a gourmet dish first and pass the broadcast reviews before they will be accepted.

There was a voice outside. Su Liang came in and asked: “Luoluo, are you hungry? There are still some potatoes left at home, do you want mom to cook it for you?”

Jian Luo stood up: “No, Mom. I’ll go to the kitchen with you.”

The woman was a little puzzled, but Jian Luo insisted.

Exiting the room, the outside was shabby too, but at least it was clean. There was a small sofa in the small living room and a window on one of the walls. The sun shone in, adding some vitality to the house.

Jian Luo walked to the kitchen and found that there were only nutrient solutions in the cupboards. Other than that, there were potatoes and corn on the chopping board.

Su Liang asked, “Luoluo, what do you want to eat? Shall mom cook it for you?”

“No.” Jian Luo walked to the chopping board and began to think about how to make a delicious dish with corn and potatoes.

First of all, people in Dark Star must have eaten corn and potatoes before, so they can no longer be considered delicious food. Furthermore, cooking would be too unrealistic. After all, there were no peppers or other condiments here.

Jian Luo looked around the kitchen and noticed that there was a basin of water in the corner: “What is that?”

Su Liang came over to take a look: “It’s the vegetable oil left over from the machine when I was selling potatoes yesterday. It’s useless and mom didn’t have time to throw it away.”

Was that oil?

This was absolutely good stuff!

Jian Luo was overjoyed. He had an idea and turned his face away: “Mom, could you pass me that corn too?”

Su Liang was stunned for a moment, that was for his younger brother, Su Sheng to eat…

Jian Luo quickly added: “Mom, don’t worry, I will definitely make a lot of money in the future and let the family eat vegetables every day.”

“This child…” Su Liang sighed softly before gently smiling: “Okay, I’ll pass it to you.”

It’s not too big of a deal. If anything, she’ll just have to work harder to feed Su Sheng for the next few days.

After Jian Luo received his answer, he got to work. First, he asked his brother and mother to help grind the corn up into powder, then he found a knife and began to cut the potatoes into strips the size of a pinky finger.

Su Liang and his younger brother looked at Jian Luo’s odd behavior. It seemed like it would be a waste of food, so they were a little puzzled.

Jian Luo smiled: “It’s alright, trust me!”

Su Liang felt that there was something abnormal going on with her son’s head since he woke up from his injury, However, her son has always been autistic and because he seemed more cheerful now, she just let him continue.

Jian Luo wrapped the potato strips in cornflour before heating the oil in the pan and putting them into the pan to start frying them when the oil was ready.

As more time passed, the aroma slowly wafted into the air. The potato strips slowly became golden and crispy. As the oil was boiled, the soft and waxy potato strips gradually became harder. The wonderful smell of deep-fried food began to tickle their noses.

His younger brother sniffed the air and was suddenly hungry.

He used to think that potatoes were fragrant, but for some reason, this one fried in oil was even more fragrant!

“Okay.” Jian Luo turned off the fire and fished out the potato pieces. He picked up a piece using chopsticks and turned his face to look at his younger brother. Smiling slightly, he said: “Come on, help big brother try it.”

The younger brother was a little apprehensive but he still came over and bit the fries held between his chopsticks.

The golden crispy fries entered his throat, filling him with a wonderful satisfaction.

Jian Luo didn’t know if he was successful or not, so he could only ask, “How is it?”

The younger brother slowly widened his eyes. They were full of amazement: “This is the best thing I’ve ever eaten!”

Su Liang also came over to taste it. Taking the deep-fried snack into her mouth, she also displayed the same surprised expression as his younger brother.

Knowing that it was successful, Jian Luo hurriedly turned on his informatic wristband to enter the taste and shape of the food before uploading it to the live streaming broadcast platform for review.

As long as the fries can successfully pass the review, he will be able to livestream and make money!

He was just unsure if the people of this interstellar age would like snacks…

Chapter 1 – To become a well-rounded powerhouse as the underdog

Chapter 1 – To become a well-rounded powerhouse as the underdog

“Why are you crying for my child?”

“It’s all my fault. If my brother can’t wake up, I’ll just follow him to death too…”

“What kind of nonsense are you saying?”

It’s so noisy…

Jian Luo felt his head buzzing. He remembered that he was in a car accident. Before he had a chance to react, he was hit and his entire world went dark. What was going on now at the scene of the car accident?

Jian Luo opened his eyes but the scene of the expected car accident did not appear. In front of his eyes was a dark ceiling and shelves packed full of miscellaneous things. The room was also filled with a very strange sour and musty smell. There were two people chattering beside him.

“Stop fighting……”

Jian Luo opened his mouth with difficulty. His voice was hoarse and weak.

Like a switch, his words suddenly ended their chattering and caused both the boy and the woman who were talking to rush to his bedside.

“Luo’er!”

“Big brother!”

Both of them jumped on him and the sudden pressure made Jian Luo feel that he could faint in the next second.

The woman asked eagerly, “Are you feeling okay?”

“I…” Jian Luo was weak so the woman picked up his trembling hand as she approached him.

The woman wept sadly and held his hand: “Do you have any last words to tell mother? Tell me.”

Jian Luo used up all his strength to speak: “Don’t press on me, I can’t breathe.”

The woman’s expression froze.

The little boy pushed her aside: “Mom, big brother said you were going to crush him to death.”

“…”

The woman straightened up embarrassedly. Still worried, she asked: “Luo’er, are you alright? Why aren’t you speaking?”

Less stressed now, Jian Luo took two breaths before replying: “I have a headache.”

The woman hurriedly said, “Then drink some medicine quickly!”

The tiny room was void of any light. The woman in front of him was holding a bowl of pure green soup. Some bubbles appeared on the soup’s surface from time to time. Take note, the soup was actually bubbling like a chemical weapon. Just looking at it would make one send shivers down one’s spine.

Suddenly, Jian Luo remembered the sentence – Da Lang, it’s time to take medicine1A cn meme. Quoted by a TV character in a warm manner, but is actually full of malice and intention to harm the person..

Jian Luo clutched his head as he said: “I think my head doesn’t hurt so much anymore.”

The woman was still very worried and still wanted Jian Luo to drink the medicine but fortunately, Jian Luo was quick-witted. Like he was possessed by an award-winning actor, he quickly clutched his chest in pain, thus successfully escaping the tough predicament.

The little boy who had been standing next to him asked, “Big brother, are you hungry?”

Jian Luo was so moved that he almost cried. He was hit by that car because he was too hungry and went out to buy something to eat. Now, despite not knowing what kind of situation he was in, he was still hungry!

The little boy said, “Big brother, wait, I’ll get you something to eat.”

What a good kid. It didn’t matter if we were siblings before, from now on, we are brothers!

As the child and woman left to procure some food for him, Jian Luo sat beside the bed and began to inspect the room. The roof was dark and the shelves were stuffed full of strange, colorful glass spheres.

The only source of light in the room was coming from the walls. Yes, there was indeed no light. In fact, the lighting was provided by the wall.

While Jian Luo was still looking around, the door opened. The little boy trotted over cautiously as if he was holding some treasure: “Big brother, mother said you were injured so you’ll need some nutritious food. This is rich in vitamins and minerals. It’s for you to eat.”

As he said that, he took out a glass tube from his pocket. It contained a green liquid. Maybe because it was shaken a little, the liquid bubbled up again.

Jian Luo: “…”

The little boy placed it in his hands. With his round eyes looking at him expectantly, he said: “Drink it quickly.”

Jian Luo glanced down at the test tube and finally couldn’t help but blurt out, “Is this place hell?”

The little boy was stunned.

“I’m dead, right?” Jian Luo boldly proposed: “So you want to punish me like this, by bringing me to this world where I drink poison every day?”

The little boy took half a step back, frightened.

Jian Luo thought he guessed correctly: “Is it true?!”

The little boy suddenly ran away: “Mom, big brother’s mentally unwell after being beaten in the head!”

“…”

This was too much.

Next, Jian Luo finally figured out the situation amid the woman’s cries and the little boy’s incessant chattering. That’s right, he, Jian Luo, a food blogger who wanted to eat supper in the middle of the night but was hit by a car that passed by.

He had passed on and was no longer on Earth but on another planet!

According to the woman’s description, the earth became uninhabitable 300 years ago so the humans were forced to migrate. They left the solar system and after a long period of wandering, they were finally accepted by aliens.

The planet that accepted human beings was the Dark Star, the ones with the most advanced and strongest interstellar technology. Although the humans lived here, the backwardness of their civilization and the fact that they are very dependent on the Dark Star people caused their status to became very low

Overall – the situation was tough.

After hearing this, Jian Luo’s mood was complicated.

The woman who was also his current mother, Su Liang, noticed his depressed mood and asked gently, “Xiao Luo, what’s wrong?”

Jian Luo was silent for a while before he finally said: “I was thinking, will I have to drink that green water in the future too?”

What the hell, why did humans have to suffer?

Su Liang was shocked for a while before she said, “How about mom go get you some vegetables?”

Jian Luo’s eyes lit up: “Okay, I want to eat some!”

It would be alright as long as he could eat. As long as he could still eat vegetables, who cares about the lowly position he had as a fellow human? Originally, when he lived on Earth, wasn’t he also just some petty citizen?

His position was lowly before too, the only thing that’s changed was the location. The details were trivial.

After waiting, the woman outside finally came back. She brought a plate of boiled potatoes and said: “Come on, eat up then!”

Jian Luo: “…”

The vegetables she brought back were indeed bona fide vegetables.

The potatoes were of the golden variety. It lay on the plate, peeled and did smell like potatoes. It was indeed a pure potato, but…!

Why did it really look like any plain, old potato2He’s probably just shocked at the way the potato was prepared. Like it was plainly boiled?

Couldn’t you fry it or at least slice it?!

Su Liang thought that Jian Luo was too happy to speak so she smiled and said, “Don’t worry, we still have some savings at home. These vegetables are worth two meals so eat them quickly.”

Jian Luo silently took the plate: “Mom.”

Su Liang: “Huh?”

“I need to know what’s going on here in detail.” Jian Luo was so sad that he couldn’t eat: “Describe the current living conditions at home especially, in detail.”

Only then did Su Liang confirm that her son really did lose his memory.

Through her explanation, Jian Luo finally understood why the powerhouses in the universe like the Dark Stars would accept the fragile Earthlings. The reason was really very simple!

It was because they were foodies!

The people from Earth had no other advantages, other than knowing how to eat well. All kinds of vegetable seeds could be turned into delicious food, which was very popular among Dark Stars and even other major planets.

Jian Luo: “Isn’t this a good thing? If you have the seeds, you can plant them on a large scale, right?”

Su Liang glanced at him: “Our seeds are all from the earth, however after the survival rate of our people was greatly reduced after the environment changed and the group of people who survived at the beginning, that is, our ancestors, were all high-tech researchers. How would they know how to cultivate the lands?”

Jian Luo’s heart sank: “So, what do you mean?”

“Many seeds failed to germinate due to light and environmental problems.” Su Liang sighed sadly: “Vegetables like potatoes have been planted successfully but these vegetables have to be paid back and taxed. How could we be willing to eat them?”

Jian Luo understood it a little more now. He had one question: “Since these aliens were so high-tech, can’t the seeds be planted in batches?”

Su Liang laughed: “For generations, their main source of food has been this nutrient solution, how would they know how to grow crops?”

So today’s human beings relied on farming as a job to survive. Without this job, wouldn’t they have been a lot worse off?

Jian Luo thought: “By the way, Mom, how did I get hurt?”

Speaking of this, Su Liang had an embarrassed look on her face.

Jian Luo guessed that something unpleasant must’ve happened.

“It’s not a big deal. If it’s money, mom will find a way.” Su Liang’s eyes were a little red. She looked very gentle, but she was tenacious: “You just need to peacefully recuperate.”

Well, it must’ve been a big deal.

Jian Luo looked around the house and determined that the family was really short on money.

“I see.” Jian Luo nodded: “I will rest.”

Su Liang said quickly, “Then eat the potatoes. Mom will go out.”

Jian Luo nodded. Although the potatoes were tasteless, they were better than that nutrient solution. While holding the potatoes, he connected a sort of information bracelet on his wrist to learn about the world.

The bracelet seemed to be hidden internally inside his bones and did not usually appear outwardly. A black smart ring will only appear on one’s wrist when you need to look at it.

Su Liang said: “If you need anything, just recite them in your heart.”

Jian Luo tentatively recited “Information Search” in his heart, and sure enough, a search box appeared before his eyes.

Unlike modern browsers, the interstellar search box is powered by AI. As a small glowing ball, it asked, “How can I help you?”

Jian Luo: “Search for the types of vegetables that can be grown and produced now.”

The little ball flickered before the information was presented in front of Jian Luo, complete with pictures and texts.

The first page in the search box was: wheat, potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, pumpkin…

“Twenty-five.”

After Jian Luo finished counting, he despaired.

In his last life, not only was he a gourmet, he was also a spice-lover. What crushed him the most was that there were no chili peppers among the list of plantable things!

Moreover, the method developed by humans of eating these vegetables were to all be boiled!

He felt a shiver run through him.

Just when Jian Luo was about to become disheartened, his focus was suddenly diverted to another page – Seed Collection.

He hurriedly said to the Lightbrain, “What is seed collection?”

“If your planting achievements reach great heights, you will obtain the right to cultivate the listed new varieties.” The Lightbrain replied: “The taxable amount will be reduced too.”

Jian Luo looked at the collections page and found that chili peppers were listed on the first page!

Turns out it wasn’t all lost.

It just has not yet been cultivated yet!

“Okay, okay.” Jian Luo cheered up: “Then, how do I become an excellent farmer?”

He couldn’t wait to start cultivating the lands to become a well-rounded powerhouse as the underdog. Among the working people, he’ll become the most glorious!

Chapter 21 – Who is going to give you a baby!

Chapter 21 – Who is going to give you a baby!

It’s a pity that Xing Zhongwan quickly snapped out of it and quickly pushed Qi Yun away without a second thought. His thin back hit the wall with a crisp sound. Xing Zhongwan coldly said, “Qi Yun, you’re crazy!”

Qi Yun endured the pain and his face turned pale, “I just followed my heart and did what I wanted to do.”

Xing Zhongwan stood up and looked at him condescendingly, “You reflect on this by yourself, I’m going to leave first.”

Xing Zhongwan went out of the hall with a dark face. He clenched his fists tightly. God knows how hard it was to hold himself back from punching him.

The old housekeeper kept calling out “Miss Xing” and Xing Zhongwan said coldly, “Shut up!”

The maids on the side immediately covered their mouths. They’ve never seen Miss Xing angry but never thought that it would be this bad. Those cold eyes wanted to kill.

Xing Zhongwan went into the bathroom, turned on the faucet and rinsed his mouth with water. It was not enough. He picked up the toothbrush and brushed his teeth several times until his lips turned red. It was terrible to look at.

Xing Zhongwan became more angry the more he thought about it. He threw his toothbrush out of the bathroom and opened the cabinet. He began to pack his clothes. After finally squeezing all his clothes in, he threw the duffel bag on the bed in annoyance. Xing Zhongwan lay down on the bed, trying to calm himself down, why was he angry? Didn’t he just get kissed by a man? He should treat it like he was…. bitten by a dog.

Xing Zhongwan rubbed his face, turned over and buried himself in the quilt, why did he feel so weird in his heart? He suddenly didn’t want to see Qi Yun. What should he do?

Xing Zhongwan decided to be cold to Qi Yun so he took his car key and went out. After drinking at the bar until two o’clock in the morning, he called for a cab to take him back.

Xing Zhongwan entered the room reeking of alcohol. The hall was brightly lit like it was daytime and the hall was full of people. Seeing Xing Zhongwan, the old housekeeper showed a relieved expression; which she rarely made. Xing Zhongwan fiddled with the car key in his hand and looked at the crowd with a puzzled expression.

“Are you lining up to welcome me home? This is too grand.”

Nurse Xiaocheng had her forehead bandaged, “Young madam, please go in and have a look. Master Yun hasn’t snapped out of it, so he throws things when we go in. If anything happens, we…”

At the end, her voice faltered off into sobs.

Xing Zhongwan frowned and looked at his watch. It has been several hours since then and he was still throwing a temper tantrum.

Xing Zhongwan tossed the key in his hand to the old housekeeper and went to the side hall. As soon as he opened the door, he saw Qi Yun in the dimly lit room, holding the parallel training bars with both hands, trying hard to stand up. His casual, black clothes were drenched. He didn’t know how long the other had been practicing alone.

Xing Zhongwan leaned against the door with his arms folded and looked at him coldly. Qi Yun, just you try keep up this attitude.

Qi Yun’s legs still didn’t have much strength in them. After several attempts, he hit the ground hard and didn’t get up again. There were still a lot of glass shards on the ground. As a result, Qi Yun’s body was very scratched up.

Xing Zhongwan couldn’t stand it anymore when Qi Yun tried to get up again. Xing Zhongwan walked forward and hugged him and put him back on the ground, “Okay, time to rest. Continue this tomorrow. You’re all scratched up, you know?”

Qi Yun’s face was pale. His lips were bitten and had a lot of dried blood on it while his face was all sweaty. He lowered his head, “How long have you been at the door?”

Xing Zhongwan said, “Quite a long time.”

Qi Yun let out a self-deprecating snort, “Is this unsightly?”

Xing Zhongwan sat down beside him, “Unsightly indeed. But it’s not like I’ve never seen your ugly side. I’m afraid it’s too late now to be worried about that.”

Qi Yun was taken aback for a moment and a bit of bitterness flashed across his face, “Yes, there’s not a single embarrassing part of myself that you have not witnessed before. I…I thought you left.”

Xing Zhongwan: “Leave? Where will I go?” How can Laozi go when things are still incomplete? I have already held on for this long, if I gave up, am I still Xing Zhongwan?

Xing Zhongwan took a deep breath, “Qi Yun, I want to tell you something clearly, I…”

Qi Yun suddenly leaned his head on Xing Zhongwan’s shoulder. Xing Zhongwan turned his head in shock.

“Wanwan, don’t say anything else further. It doesn’t matter who you are and why you decided to stay by my side, just don’t leave me.”

Qi Yun’s voice sounded faint and Xing Zhongwan could feel his body trembling.

Xing Zhongwan sighed, “Don’t let yourself get angry. Your body isn’t strong enough to bear it, and also, next time don’t… don’t do something like that again suddenly. I don’t like it.”

Qi Yun was taken aback. Xing Zhongwan couldn’t see his expression but he could see his long eyelashes trembling gently, along with his aggrieved look. It’s not like I was the one who bullied you!

Xing Zhongwan got up, “Come on, I’ll carry you back upstairs to rest.” Qi Yun climbed on Xing Zhongwan’s back and replied lightly, “I won’t do it anymore in the future.”

Xing Zhongwan carried Qi Yun’s as his leg dragged on the floor. Compared to before, his body was much sturdier. He was also a lot heavier now. Qi Yun was getting better. This was a good thing for Xing Zhongwan. It’s almost time to push Xing Zhengping to fulfill his end of the deal.

Under the gaze of others, Xing Zhongwan went upstairs carrying an unusually well-behaved Qi Yun on his back. The jaws of everyone downstairs almost fell to the ground. The old housekeeper wanted to speak but when Qi Yun suddenly raised his head, those lifeless, dull eyes made the old housekeeper lower her head quickly. The crowd was instantly petrified and they didn’t dare breathe loudly.

Qi Yun turned his head and caught a whiff of the strong smell of liquor on Xing Zhongwan’s body before his furrowed his eyebrows, “Girls should drink less.”

Xing Zhongwan almost threw away the man on his back on an impulse. Qi Yun, you’re really a piece of work. Laozi surrenders!

Xing Zhongwan bathed Qi Yun. Fortunately, the wounds on his body were not deep so it didn’t matter if they were drenched in water. The bruises all over his body from when he fell during rehabilitation however, were a bit scary.

Xing Zhongwan deliberately didn’t look at them. With some anger still in his heart, he lathered the shampoo on Qi Yun’s head. Qi Yun rubbed his eyes, “Wanwan, some water got into my eyes.”

Xing Zhongwan snorted, “Wipe it away yourself!”

Qi Yun was a little aggrieved and he raised his hand, “I don’t have a towel.” Xing Zhongwan pulled a towel from the side and tapped it on Qi Yun’s forehead, “Take it!”

Qi Yun expressionlessly pulled down the towel and wiped his eyes, “You’re so fierce, but I want you!”

The anger in Xing Zhongwan’s heart soared, “You’re still not over that are you? I don’t need anyone to want me. Those who like me can go to hell.”

Xing Zhongwan took the bath scrub from the side and wiped down his body. Laozi tried hard his best not to rub your skin off. He slid his hands between Qi Yun’s legs, accidentally bumping into something hard.

Xing Zhongwan froze for a moment. What the hell was that? He reached out to touch it again but Qi Yun’s hand quickly grabbed him, “Don’t touch it.”

Xing Zhongwan’s narrowed his eyes with joy, “Qi Yun, you’re not disabled there. You can have a reaction now? Did you tell the doctor? It’s a good thing.”

Xing Zhongwan didn’t feel that there was a problem with what he said. He was really happy for Qi Yun as a man. There was a major difference between not wanting to use ‘that thing’ and not being able to use ‘that thing’.

However, Xing Zhongwan found that Qi Yun’s reaction was a little weird. Qi Yun blushed, and his whole body turned slightly pink. His skin was originally pale so a little red would look particularly obvious.

Xing Zhongwan patted Qi Yun on the shoulder, “It’s a good thing, why are you being so shy?”

Xing Zhongwan really didn’t realize it at this time because he thought that they were both men. I don’t mind being a ‘bro’ to you at this point of time. However, right now, Qi Yun still treated him like a girl…

“Are you very happy?” Qi Yun threw out these words inexplicably.

Xing Zhongwan didn’t think twice about it, “Of course.”

When he said this, Xing Zhongwan felt that something was wrong because he realized that Qi Yun was smiling. Oh my God, Qi Yun could smile. This child whose grim face that had been frozen for over a thousand years and could make an evil spirit cry; he was now smiling… although the smile was quite stiff…

Xing Zhongwan quickly looked away. Even if his skin was really thick, he couldn’t bear this. Don’t f/king smile anymore, Laozi is about to have a nosebleed…

“That’s good then. Wanwan. Do you want to have a boy or a girl? Perhaps we can have both in the future.”

Qi Yun’s voice was clear but faint. Xing Zhongwan turned his head abruptly and his face was flushed. He yelled, “Who is going to give birth for you!? Qi Yun, you better come to your senses!”

Qi Yun lowered his head and the corner of his mouth twitched. Wanwan, how can you be so cute?

T/N: Yes, ‘that thing’ is EXACTLY what you thought it was. If you still haven’t figured it out, I’ll give you a clue. You can also call it a meatstick. Is it edible? Yes. You can even eat it or take it in using multiple holes in your body (͡• ͜ʖ ͡•)

Chapter 20 – What should I do if I can’t let go

Chapter 20 – What should I do if I can’t let go?

Chen Ying answered the phone. Shen Qinghong’s voice sounded exhausted, “Have you met them already? Tell me about it.”

Chen Ying held the phone thoughtfully. “I checked the young madam’s car, it was registered under the name of the Xing family. Although his style of dressing was simple, the price of each piece of garment was not low. He has not touched the card. They were obviously expensive but it was all bought using his own money. As an illegitimate child, having that much is a bit unfounded.”

“Continue.”

“And…” Chen Ying hesitated for a moment, “he was quite…beautiful.”

Chen Qinghong paused before giving a muffled laugh. “Chen Ying, Chen Ying ah. You’ve spent so many years around the old lady. With your standards, you judged the person to not only be of a high caliber, but to be pretty as well. I am a little curious about her. What kind of child could make Qi Yun change his heart and become sincere?”

“Chairman, do you need me to contact the Xing family? I still feel a little worried.”

Shen Qinghong smiled. “It’s not the time yet. Don’t act rashly and alert them just yet. What kind of attitude does Yun’er treat her with?”

Chen Ying brows. “Young master Qi Yun places a great amount of trust in the young madam, plus he… really likes the young madam. “

Shen Qinghong closed up the files with documents on the table. “Oh? Has Yun-er’s stone heart opened up? Where did Xing Zhengping find such a precious thing, a beautiful doll that stole my Yun’er’s heart? “

Chen Ying said with a sullen face, “Chairman… not a doll, but a bonafide man.”

Shen Qinghong’s voice suddenly disappeared. After a long time, there was a burst of laughter from the phone line, “Chen Ying, please leave this matter alone in the future. Just take care of Yun’er’s legs. This situation seems interesting. A man?! Qi Yun, just where do your interests lie?”

Xing Zhongwan sent a message to Cheng Zhengzhe after he returned to the villa and gave him Chen Ying’s number to allow him to bring the specialist directly to him. After the message was sent, Xing Zhongwan threw his phone on the bed. Xing Zhongwan pulled out the toolbox and was about to find a way to pry open the bracelet in his hand…

As he was about to do this, a loud noise came from downstairs. Xing Zhongwan tossed away the wire cutter that was in his hands, annoyed. Can he not have a single moment of peace today?

Chen Ying’s people are here. So noisy. Was this the medical team or engineering team, and were they coming to demolish the house?

Xing Zhongwan’s face was dark. The old housekeeper looked at him questioningly. Xing Zhongwan said that he had nothing to do with this matter.

“I don’t know about this, you can ask Qi Yun yourself.” The old housekeeper went up to the third floor unwillingly. After a while, there was a sound of heavy objects falling and the old housekeeper came out of the room with a sullen expression and let the engineering team through the door.

Xing Zhongwan fished an apple in the kitchen and watched the boisterous group of people pass by the side hall on the first floor. He bit the apple and went upstairs. When he went in, he saw Qi Yun struggling as if he wanted to get up. Xing Zhongwan held the apple in his mouth and helped the person up, “They are here. By the looks of it, they want to build you a space for rehabilitation and physical therapy. Hey, with such a big ruckus going on, aren’t you afraid of the ones who are dumbly staring at you because they don’t know about what’s going on? “

Qi Yun faced Xing Zhongwan, “Once the Shen family gets involved, the Qi family will not interrupt. As for other people… they do not dare offend the Shen family.”

Xing Zhongwan bit the apple, “Then why didn’t you look for the Shen family earlier? Suffering by yourself for so long and in vain.”

Qi Yun stretched out his hand towards Xing Zhongwan, “I still haven’t met you at the time, remember? Now give me a bite.”

Xing Zhongwan glanced at the porous apple that was bitten by himself, “I’ve already bitten into it.”

Qi Yun said, “It’s okay, just give it here.”

Xing Zhongwan shockingly passed the apple in his hand, watching Qi Yun slowly put it to his mouth and took a bite at the same parts where he had bitten. The juice soaked up his lips, gradually turning it rosy, “Today’s apple is not bad, very sweet.”

Xing Zhongwan was dumbfounded, his face flushed. F/ck, you… Qi Yun, you savage!

He hurried downstairs and took a new apple, putting it in Qi Yun’s hand, “This is for you, I will supervise the work downstairs.”

After saying that, he ran like he was flying away. Qi Yun felt the apple in his hand, his lips curled into a smile. That person can’t stand to be teased… when they get married in the future, what should he do?

The people that Chen Ying brought in were really efficient. A nearly perfect rehabilitation room was built in two days. The medical team also arrived that afternoon. There was a professional team to take care of Qi Yun and help him recover. Xing Zhongwan was very happy and felt that he could finally relax. He even went out to make an appointment. He did not expect Qi Yun to ask him to be with him by his side. Not just at night, but during the day too. When he got sweaty, Xing Zhongwan had to bathe him and change his clothes.

Simply put, the medical team would only be responsible for the technical work. He was still dependent on Xing Zhongwan for the rest, like getting fed meals, being clothed and getting around. It was almost the same as before. Xing Zhongwan’s dream of rolling around the sheet every day was shattered as he guarded the grown man day and night. Looking after the big man Qi Yun, he felt that he was not far from going insane.

On the contrary, Qi Yun was cold and frosty, and his temper was unpredictable. Several nurses were scolded by him to tears. Xing Zhongwan felt embarrassed as he watched from the side, the girl had such pretty and soft features, how could you continue to scold her? If it were me, I’d feel so bad.

Holding out a lollipop to comfort a few nurses until they started smiling, Xing Zhongwan thought, you have to rely on them to rehabilitate and get better, what good does it serve you to scold them to the point of crying?

“He’s just like that. After a long time of being ill, he inevitably developed a bad temper. I’m sorry for you all. Miss nurses, I’ll give you these sweets and let you eat them every day.” A few young nurses were convinced to laughter by Xing Zhongwan and said “Thank you, young madam.”

Xing Zhongwan’s heart felt so bitter. Miss nurses, were you all blind too?

Of course Miss Nurses’ eyes were not blind but rather good. Before coming here, the medical team had signed an agreement that they should be very strict about what should be spoken and what should not.

The young madam is the young madam, even if a dog was called the young madam, then it is the young madam.

Those who carried out the task had to respect their benefactors. It wasn’t that they didn’t feel shy saying it, but this way, they could keep their lives by controlling what came out of their mouths.

Everyone in this house knew that Xing Zhongwan was a man, but they all ignored his gender. One after another, they called him Miss Xing, the young madam. It’s really no wonder Qi Yun believed that he was a girl lately.

Sometimes when Xing Zhongwan said a few more words to the little nurses, Qi Yun would ask him to wipe his sweat after hearing their conversation. Then, he would tell him not to talk to the little nurses too often. His expression looked terrible when he said this.

Xing Zhongwan didn’t understand this. You think I’m a girl so what if Miss nurses and I say a few more words? Why are you not happy? Could it be that those little nurses are the ones who actually changed their gender?

Qi Yun, you are too controlling.

That being said, although Qi Yun’s rehabilitation was progressing slowly, there is still some progress. This person’s fatigue was never obviously plastered on his face, no matter how painful it got or how tired he was, his mouth stayed silent. At night, he was sweating but he hid under the quilt without complaining. Fortunately, there was one time where Xing Zhongwan found out and was frightened half to death, thinking what was happening to him? He called the doctor in the middle of the night to find out that it was a normal development and let the doctor teach him a few soothing massages. At night, he rubbed Qi Yun’s legs and waist for him.

When Qi Yun was sweating profusely, Xing Zhongwan also sweated profusely. After all, he had to take baths and change clothes for Qi Yun. After such an ordeal, Xing Zhongwan was so tired that he wanted to go to heaven to see his mother. He was exhausted when his head hit the pillows.

What Xing Zhongwan didn’t know was that every night, there was always a pair of eyes facing his face with a very complicated expression. A slender hand with well-defined knuckles always hung down beside the bed, looking for Xing Zhongwan’s hand before holding them gently.

“Wanwan, I will definitely get better, wait for me.”

Xing Zhongwan came back from outside today. Last night, Qi Yun said he wanted to eat Java apples so the ‘babysitter’ Xing set out early in the morning. When he came back, there was a group of people standing on the side of the hall trembling and dared not leave. Xing Zhongwan gave the bag in his hand to the servant, and the servant hurried to the kitchen as if she was running for her life.

“What’s the matter?” Xing Zhongwan looked at the old housekeeper. The old housekeeper was calm but suddenly there was the sound of the glass shattering from down the hall.

“Go away, get out!” It was Qi Yun’s voice. Xing Zhongwan walked quickly towards the hall and a few nurses came out from the door, one of them was even bleeding from her forehead.

Xing Zhongwan was shocked, “What’s the matter?”

The head nurse was calm, “Master Yun, well… He still couldn’t stand up today. Master Yun…”

Xing Zhongwan understood in a second, “I understand. Quickly take nurse Xiaocheng away to have her wound treated. I’ll go in and have a look.”

Several nurses nodded quickly. They couldn’t afford to offend the angry person inside the room.

Xing Zhongwan went in and it was a mess inside. Qi Yun leaned against the wall and panted, with his head hanging down, the expression on his face couldn’t be seen. Xing Zhongwan walked around the glass shards all over the floor and approached Qi Yun, “What’s wrong?”

He squatted down in front of him, “What are you doing with such a bad temper? Physical rehabilitation needs to be done slowly, you can’t rush it. Why are you getting mad at those little nurses?”

Qi Yun was panting and he slowly raised his head. His face was still thin, but his appearance had changed a lot from when they first met. On multiple occasions, Xing Zhongwan has seen the others in the same room blushing after looking at Qi Yun’s face.

“You’re still speaking on their behalf!”

Qi Yun’s voice was deep. By now, his voice has basically returned to the tone he had before the accident.

“I’m not speaking for them, I just wanted to say that you shouldn’t push yourself too hard?”

Xing Zhongwan explained patiently.

“Are those girls very beautiful?”

Xing Zhongwan was stunned. Qi Yun, was I talking to you about this?

“Does this have anything to do with whether the girls are beautiful? You!”

Qi Yun opened his arms and pulled Xing Zhongwan closer to hug him. Xing Zhongwan was already squatting in an unstable position. Qi Yun pulled in his whole body and was almost completely pressed on him.

“F/ck, what are you doing?”

Xing Zhongwan was a little angry but Qi Yun hugged Xing Zhongwan and buried his face in his neck.

”Wanwan, you are mine. No one can hurt you.”

Qi Yun’s warm breath was on Xing Zhongwan’s neck, brushing on his skin little by little. There was an itchy feeling in his heart.

“No one will hurt me, Qi Yun, let go of me first.”

Xing Zhongwan was afraid that if he used his strength, he would hurt Qi Yun, but the sudden hug made him very uncomfortable.

Qi Yun raised his head, “What should I do if I can’t let go?”

Huh!?

Xing Zhongwan didn’t hear clearly, “What did you say?”

Qi Yun cupped Xing Zhongwan’s face with both hands, and stopped his fingers beside his lips.

Xing Zhongwan’s mind was about to explode, this was really the most ‘magical’ moment he has ever experienced…

T/N: This update was brought to you by Uncle Peeps 😀 tHANKS fOR dONATING!1! <3 Lub u

Heyhey! I promised another update two days ago right? Here it is!!! Hope you enjoyed the chapter~~

(ɔ◔‿◔)ɔ ♥ BTW, do you know what Java apples are? Where I grew up, we call them Jambu Air, which translates to Water Figs I think… I love them quite alot, even prefer them a little more than normal apples. They’re softer, yet more crunchier than our regular common apples, and perfect for my weak-old-man teeth kek. I also like how they’re not too sweet, yet very juicy. Maybe if ya’ll get a chance, I would recommend it!!

Also, some of them come in a really pretty shade of pink, though I’m not sure if those are edible, since I’ve always eaten the red varieties. Maybe they all turn red after they’re ripe…

ASDFG!!! Also, I think Qi Yun just kissed Xing Zhongwan hehe (⊙.⊙) I can’t wait t share with y’all his reaction to it in the next chapter. If it wasn’t obvious enough, our little shou is actually straight. In fact, he’s quite a playboy and even sleeps around. I wonder if his 3 world views will all be shattered. He’d probably even get angry so his gong husband will have to placate him. Who knows? Continue reading to find out hehe 🙂

This Sly Dragon’s Getting a Little Too Close For Comfort Chapter 1

While he was still spaced out, the doctor and Wenyi approached him again. Wenyi had begrudgingly allowed him to return to his room after bickering a few with the doctor, who was named ‘Jueqing’. He found this out while they were obviously flirting with one another while disguising it to be an argument between simple colleagues with no s-xual tension going on behind at all. None whatsoever.

Zhennan wanted to curse out loud, but only did it in his heart in fear of what the two Jiejies might do to him as they tossed innuendoes after innuendos at each other (well, mostly Jueqing at Wenyi) while occasionally remembering to discuss about his mysterious amnesia. Not to mention Wenyi’s violent behavior and retorts that she often resorted to after she turned pink as Jueqing’s silver tongue outwitted her own.

Jueqing herself was not far off from turning pink either. If anything, she was dripping red herself, and from her temple, down to her neck. There was literal blood coming out of her from various places where Wenyi had struck her out of embarrassment. In fact, the garden path where the 3 of them were standing at was about to be fully repainted with the doctor’s own lifeblood.

“Just leave at once, if you’re going to be a nuisance!” Wenyi had shouted, her face was red and she seemed more out-of-breath trying to converse with Jueqing than she would’ve, fighting the legendary phoenix. She shoved Jueqing aside shyly.

Zhennan was the one who really wanted to leave. As a normal human being from the modern world, these two were far too dangerous to be around.

Jueqing was slammed into a pillar, which made a Jueqing-shaped dent at contact. But the doctor only nonchalantly smiled as she flicked the blood off her face before slithering an arm around Wenyi’s petite waist. She was about to soothe (tease) the other when she realized that there was an audience to their farce-argument (flirting).

“What are you still doing here? Didn’t your aunt let you leave? You should do so before she changes her mind again~”

Wait. Wasn’t she referring to you earlier?! Zhennan averted his eyes shamefully at the scene. Just a few hours into his life in this magical world, but the only magical thing he’s witnessed was really how the others walking past them acted as if there was nothing wrong with what was happening. In fact, as they passed by Zhennan, they seemed to whisper and sigh among themselves.

Poor Wenyi, being bullied by Jueqing again…

“I was referring to you! Stupid!” Wenyi shouted back, “but yes, Zhennan. You should go back to rest in your room. Tomorrow, we’ll continue where we left off…”

She trailed off after Jueqing sent her a wink and gave her waist a squeeze, her blush deepening, determined to not lose her composure in front of her nephew, and much more, in front of her disciple.

“How about we continue where we left off last night-” Jueqing was cut off from completing her sentence with an endearment when she was sent flying into the tiles. Though this time, probably for good Zhennan thinks.

With Jueqing unresponsive, Wenyi locked eyes with Zhennan.

“Go back to your room then. Auntie will allow it for tonight. Jueqing is right sometimes too…”

Zhennan would gladly oblige. In fact, he would’ve done so half an hour ago, if only it weren’t for…

“I don’t know where my room is…”

…..

Zhennan slowly waved away at Wenyi’s disappearing back as it became smaller and smaller before closing the door, as soon as he made sure she was far away and definitely not coming back in the meantime.

After he opened his mouth to ask where his room was, Wenyi’s eyes went as wide as saucers before a light blush tinted her cheeks. It seems she’s already forgotten about the reason why she and Jueqing were bickering in the first place. Of course, Zhennan flinched away as soon as he saw her lift her hands.

Thankfully the final destination of those robust paws were towards her own face, else his own final destination would probably be to God himself. She slapped her hands on her head before nodding to Zhennan, as though she suddenly remembered something important.

“We might really need to take a break from training like Jueqing said…” She trailed off as she grabbed Zhennan’s hand and led him to his room.

Which brings us to right now. He was now finally left alone to reorganize his thoughts. Up till now, it still seemed unreal to him that he’s died.

What exactly did he die of anyway?

Thinking about it, he did have a lot to drink after his boss invited him to join him. However, it wasn’t to the point of death by alcohol poisoning. He remembered that while they were talking, his boss did mention something about a persistent migraine of his. His boss even used this reason to order himself a glass of orange juice. Even so, that Linghua still insisted that Zhennan drink on his behalf.

Now that he was sober, thinking of it made his insides boil. Why did he have to drink?! When they bumped into each other, he probably picked up his boss’ painkillers instead of his candy. They were both in similar containers after all, one that they both bought together as a 2-in-1 deal during a company trip. No wonder the candy he chewed was tasteless. Paracetamol pills were a terrible combination with alcohol.

To have passed on just like that… What terrible luck.

A part of him still held out hope that if he went to sleep, he would wake up from this weird dream.

Dream or not, he should probably sleep it off. After all, today’s strange turn of events should’ve left him feeling tired too, with that, he slipped into the rather large but archaic bed that was enough for two in the room and closed his eyes.

If it were any other day, he’d be fast asleep by now.

Except today, he couldn’t quite sleep.

Kicking off the sheets, he raced towards a vanity desk at the corner of the room. He knew he didn’t see wrongly! When he came inside this room, he thought he had seen a stranger walk past the silver reflection. Who would’ve known that it was really his own image behind the mirror.

Patting and tracing the curves of his face, he had to admit that this new look was… not too bad. Before he could inspect his new self any further, there were suddenly two of him in the mirror.

To his shock, the other ‘him’ was carrying a bamboo scroll in their hands as they walked past, behind him.

When he turned around, the same person stood directly behind him. The doppelganger smiled and buried him in their arms before he could react.

“Big brother!”

Zhennan felt himself choking in that vice-like hold. Was everyone or everything here freaking strong? Or was he just freaking weak? As he was hugged, he could feel that the person before him had something he did not. An additional two mounds of flesh on her chest. Was this person not his brother… But his sister?

He was about to pass out when the other finally let go of him.

“Come on! Let’s go wash up together!” His sister had said, wrapping her hands around his’.

Well, he did need a bath after being licked by that stinky firebird earlier.

Quietly, he let himself be led away by the mysterious person. She seemed familiar and friendly enough, unlike the other strange women he’s met so far. Before this, they had told him not to let too many people know that he had ‘lost his memory’ since it’ll all come back soon. Though he himself didn’t dare tell them that perhaps, their nephew didn’t lose his memory, but was actually possessed by another soul instead. Perhaps the real Zhennan’s soul ascended to heaven after the tough ordeal he went through…

If he told them, they would probably exorcist him, wouldn’t they?

“Is there something wrong? Did Auntie Wenyi bully you too much?” The other person had asked, “You’re awfully quiet today. Usually, you’d complain about how hard training was.”

Before he knew it, they had arrived at someplace secluded. Around them were trees with plenty of vines hanging down. There were dimly-lit lamps hung upon them, brightening up the place so it wasn’t too dark even though it was night-time.

Suddenly, the girl unraveled her sash which was holding together her robes. Zhennan panicked internally as the robes slipped off her shoulders and landed on the grass. They might be siblings, but siblings don’t usually bathe together even if they’re close, do they? At first, she had her back turned towards him, but soon turned around when she didn’t hear the ruffling sound of clothes being taken off.

“Hey, what are you doing? It’s chilly tonight so we better quickly get into the pool.”

When she turned around, Zhennan received the shock of his life. After arriving at this place, full of beautiful but rufian-like women, he had correctly deduced that this place was indeed the Secret Vermillion Forest City inhabited by a rare race who had unparallelled magical power…

But this was not mentioned in the novel!

It was natural for a man’s eyes to be drawn to ahem, certain parts of a woman but this was just… He wanted to look away but he couldn’t… He wanted to bleach his eyes so badly. God please forgive him for staring at his ‘sister’.

There was something scary hanging between his sister’s (?) legs. It looked heavy and too large for someone as elegant and gentle-looking as this person to have. In fact, there should’ve been nothing there at all! What the hell was this?! He didn’t read about this in the novel! Not that he managed to finish reading it but…

Zhennan rubbed his eyes again, but the massive veiny thing did not disappear.

“Oh… so you lost your memories?” Rongtze nodded understandingly as she scrubbed her hair in the clear cavern pool.

Zhennan hummed out a ‘mhmm’ as he hugged his legs at the opposite corner where the waters were shallower, facing away from Rongtze. His face was red and he was thankful that the steam rising from the waters hid everything from his view. If he had to look at that monster one more time, he’d probably faint.

Looking downwards, he internally sobbed. His pride as a man was trampled half to death, by his own sister nonetheless. The novel he read hasn’t ended but if he had to guess, the author seemed pretty intent on having the main character end up with the Herma female lead… He’ll be in for a surprise on their wedding night, Zhennan chuckled darkly.

Most of the Hermas he’d seen earlier were pretty. He hasn’t seen a single ugly or even plain-looking one since coming here, but his sister was on a whole other level. Her beauty was ethereal, and if the others were to stand beside her, they’d all look like squids in comparison. It was just too bad that, well… she had something a little extra that would probably scare most men away.

However, that wasn’t the only surprise he was hit with today. Hiding his face into his knees, he used his right hand to reach down in between his legs.

Seemed like he himself had something a little extra too. Just between his p/nis and butt was a tiny opening that wasn’t there before. Brushing his fingers against its sensitive, wet folds, he could feel himself heating up. Seems like the biology classes from his previous world were useless here. After all, how can a man like him have a v/gina?!

A/N: ASDF… I know I said that I was gonna finish this by Feb, but well… life happened and I was suddenly busy, so I had to prioritize translating over writing this, but hopefully the next chapter will be up next week 🙂 Hope you like the update. There’s still a lot of world-building to do…

Chapter 19 – I’m thanking you, young madam Qi

Chapter 19 – I’m thanking you, young madam Qi

After getting off the highway, Qi Yun showed Xing Zhongwan the way and Xing Zhongwan couldn’t help but say, “Are you actually not blind at all. I almost thought there was a map laid in front of your eyes.”

Qi Yun said, “I am familiar with this place.”

Xing Zhongwan casually asked: “What place?”

Qi Yun’s woeful eyebrows flashed with a faint sadness, “My grandma’s burial grounds.”

Xing Zhongwan placed Qi Yun in a wheelchair and looked around. This was the place where the f/cking appointment was, the wilderness. Qi Yun closed his eyes quietly, naturally putting his hands on his legs.

A black car came by and stopped in front of the two. A man in a suit got out of the car. He was in his forties, had a hook nose, sported a pair of rimless glasses and was very tall. He respectfully walked in front of Qi Yun and bowed down. “Master Yun.”

But his eyes were looking at Xing Zhongwan, who was standing next to him. Seeing the bracelet on his wrist, his eyes flashed with surprise but he quickly returned to his calm demeanor.

“Book a hospital for me.”

Qi Yun’s words made the man’s face flash with joy, “Master Yun is finally willing to receive treatment? I’ll make the arrangements, Master Yun. Please follow me to the car.”

Qi Yun stretched out his hand and tugged at Xing Zhongwan, “Follow him.”

Xing Zhongwan replied with an ‘en’ but saw the man with a hooked-nosed man smile at him. “How should I address you?” Just as Xing Zhongwan was about to speak, Qi Yun spoke, “How you should do it, you don’t know?”

Chen Ying was startled and couldn’t help but take multiple glances at the bracelet on Xing Zhongwan’s wrist. Xing Zhongwan was embarrassed and wanted to pull his arm away, but Qi Yun was pulling his hand so he couldn’t break free.

Chen Ying suddenly bowed to Xing Zhongwan respectfully, “Young madam.”

Xing Zhongwan: …

All of you from the Qi family are all good at talking nonsense with your eyes open!

It wasn’t only the Qi family, but also the Shen family who were good at speaking nonsense. Chen Ying was Shen Qinghong’s personal secretary. Qi Yun was bound to take over the Shen family so he went to the Shen family’s hospital. However, this hospital was special and not open to outsiders. It is a private nursing home for the Shen family with the best medical team.

Qi Yun was pushed forward for an inspection and asked Xing Zhongwan to wait outside before going inside, instructing Chen Ying to take good care of him with that rigid tone not leaving his voice for even a moment.

After Qi Yun entered, Xing Zhongwan stared at the entrance of the examination room with Chen Ying. Xing Zhongwan grinned, “Hey bro, let’s go out for a smoke.”

Chen Ying looked down at the suddenly raised eyebrows and coughed twice before raising his head and regaining his composure. “Please, young madam.”

Chen Ying received news from the bank that someone had come with a bank card and Chen Ying immediately notified the bank deputy to go meet them. When he learned that the person was a man, Chen Ying couldn’t come back to his senses for the whole day. Shen Qinghong hadn’t come back from official business and was still abroad, plus the matter had not been confirmed yet so he didn’t dare to report it to him casually. That was, until today when he saw the actual person and the bracelet, only did Chen Ying believe it himself that the young madam of their Shen family was really a man.

Xing Zhongwan took the cigarette that Chen Ying handed him and held it in his mouth but didn’t light it. Chen Ying smiled at Xing Zhongwan and Xing Zhongwan said, “You can’t light it, if you light it, the one in there will kill me.”

He could guess what Qi Yun would say.

He would say, Wanwan, it’s not good for a girl to smoke…

Xing Zhongwan felt a deep sense of powerlessness, “you have nothing you want to ask me?” Xing Zhongwan held the dangling cigarette in his mouth and leaned against the wall of the corridor. His medium-length hair was casually tied with an elastic band. He had a dark gray jacket over his white shirt and dark blue jeans over a pair of straight and slender legs.

Chen Ying shook her head, “Master said that you are the young madam, so you are the young madam. Other than that, it’s not up to me.”

Xing Zhongwan snorted. The open-mindedness of the Shen family was really eye-opening.

“You knew from the start that Qi Yun’s legs can be cured?”

Xing Zhongwan was not curious, he just felt that it was strange. The Shen family should have been aware of Qi Yun’s situation but left him alone, waiting for Qi Yun to find a way out on his own. What was their plan?

“You should know that the young master still had some feeling in his leg. The master had diagnostic examinations done by our own doctors to prove this.”

Chen Ying smiled at Xing Zhongwan. Xing Zhongwan was stunned for a moment, then laughed out loud, “You really did have good intentions.”

Chen Ying bowed down. “Young madam is wise.”

The door of the examination room opened, Xing Zhongwan turned around, lowered his face, crushed the cigarette in his hand and threw it into the trash bin by the side. There was nothing else good to add to this.

Upon entering, Qi Yun was slowly buttoning his shirt. He heard the door open and said, “Wanwan, come and button me up.”

Xing Zhongwan rolled his eyes in his heart. Am I your babysitter!?

He went over and fastened the button for him.

The doctor saw Qi Yun’s attitude towards Xing Zhongwan and was a little bit stunned. Xing Zhongwan noticed the look he gave and smiled at him. The younger doctor next to the old professor blushed immediately.

The old professor glanced sideways at the apprentice beside him.

“What are you looking at? Is the young madam just someone you can look at casually?” Qi Yun said blankly.

The old professor hurriedly rectified his apprentice, “Master Yun, he is still young and ignorant, you…”

Qi Yun flicked his hand, “Can my legs get better?” The old professor hurriedly got up, “I will send a few people to go back with you. With their assistance, as long as you continue to rehabilitate, there is still hope for your legs to recover.”

“My eyes.” Qi Yun had been calm all this time. The old professor was silent for a while and glanced at Chen Ying on the side.

Chen Ying said indifferently, “Just tell the truth.”

“There is a professor abroad who is a professional in this area. If she can be invited, maybe young master Yun will have hope in regaining your eyesight.”

“What’s the rate of success?” Qi Yun pulled on Xing Zhongwan’s hands, his hands were cold. Xing Zhongwan glanced at him. Although his appearance was calm, Qi Yun was still nervous.

“That’s hard to say. We still have to run some tests before we can draw a conclusion.”

“Alright. Wanwan, let’s go back.” Xing Zhongwan said ‘oh’, bent down and carried Qi Yun to get him into the wheelchair. Chen Ying came up and wanted to help but Qi Yun slapped him away. With that amount of force, Xing Zhongwan saw that the back of Chen Ying’s hand was red.

“Master Yun, the chairman has been waiting for your call.”

Qi Yun snorted coldly, “Let’s go, Wanwan.”

Xing Zhongwan pushed Qi Yun’s wheelchair, thinking to himself, why are you pushing him away so harshly? I didn’t expect you to be so hostile towards him. This Qi Yun really wasn’t someone who could be pushed around.

After getting in the car, Qi Yun closed his eyes as he was a little tired and Chen Ying watched them as their car left. Xing Zhongwan looked at Qi Yun, “You sleep for a bit first, I will wake you when we arrive.”

Qi Yun opened his eyes and rubbed his own forehead, “If you have any questions, just ask?”

Xing Zhongwan started the car. “I don’t have anything to ask.”

The corners of Qi Yun’s mouth twitched, “I can only protect you when I get better. My mother should be coming to bother you soon.”

Xing Zhongwan thought, I really don’t need your protection.

“But the Shen family’s intentions are indeed not sincere.”

Qi Yun faced Xing Zhongwan’s direction, “What do you mean?” Xing Zhongwan opened the car window, “Shen Jiaming knows that your legs are good, but deliberately concealed it. Your grandpa completely abandoned you. They want you to return to Shen’s house. This method is too roundabout.”

Qi Yun lowered his eyes and said lightly, “My grandfather is not necessarily unaware of all this. In fact, no one is clearer than that old man about those who are pulling the strings behind the scenes.”

“They treat you like an object.”

Xing Zhongwan was deeply affected. He’s seen this many times. Even after Qi Yun became disabled, he was still being used like a chess piece to the bitter end.

“Do you know why they treated you so respectfully? It’s not because of me.”

Xing Zhongwan blurted out, “Why? Is it because I’m visually appealing?”

Qi Yun raised his head, “Grandma made a will before she died and everything in her Shen family is to be handed over to the grandson and granddaughter-in-law. Chen Ying was someone who stayed by Shen Qinghong for his whole life before my grandmother was born, they only acknowledged the bracelet, not the person.”

Xing Zhongwan slammed the brakes, if Qi Yun did not have his seatbelt fastened, he would’ve flown out the car.

“What are you saying?”

Qi Yun looked at him calmly, “I said that they only agreed to treat me because of you, so I’m thanking you, young madam Qi.”

The corner of Xing Zhongwan’s mouth gaped open, why is Laozi getting dug deeper and deeper into this pit!

Chapter 18 – If you lie to me, I will drag you together to hell.

Chapter 18 – If you lie to me, I will drag you together to hell.

“You’re saying Qi Yun even gave you his family heirloom! Hahahahahaha, I’m gonna die of laughter! Let me catch my breath, hahahaha.”

Xing Zhongwan hung up the phone with a dark face. Not long after, Cheng Zhengzhe called back, suppressing his laughter, “Lao Xing, just go with it.  Qi Yun’s sincerity, it’s a big deal for you to ride in this life. Hahaha.”

“Cheng Zhengzhe, have you had enough of life?” Xing Zhongwan’s face was dark. Looking at the bracelet in his hands made him so annoyed that he exuded an oppressive atmosphere.

“Or else, you can top him!” Cheng Zhengzhe was very close to abandoning his desire to survive.

“It’s not a question of me or him topping, I am a straight man!” Xing Zhongwan was on the verge of storming off.

“What straight man? Just bend yourself. Lao Xing, did you realize that the issue we’re discussing right now is about gender issues, but you never mentioned that you hated Qi Yun. In my opinion, it doesn’t matter if you’re straight. The question is whether you like him or not! Could it be that you fell for him?”

Xing Zhongwan almost choked on his saliva, “What are you talking about, how could I fall for him? I’ve been pushed around by you for long enough, we haven’t even gotten down to talking about the real deal. Di you get your things done?”

Cheng Zhengzhe smiled. “I’m doing it, don’t worry. Just set a time to come back with Xue Qing.”

“How did you do it?”

“Don’t worry about that. Laozi has his ways~”

Cheng Zhengzhe scratched his back as he said this. You think Laozi has it easy because of you? I have to recoup this favour!

Xing Zhongwan was a little embarrassed facing Qi Yun in the following days. Every time he undressed and took a bath, Cheng Zhengzhe’s words would flash in his mind inexplicably, just bend himself and everything would be alright. Xing Zhongwan shook his head fiercely. No, absolutely not! I am here to repay my gratitude and I must not cave in. Xing Zhongwan fumbled around a lot and Qi Yun wondered what was going on. He stretched out his hand and pulled on his sleeves. “What’s wrong?”

When Xing Zhongwan turned around, he was stunned. They were together everyday so he didn’t realise that after more than a month, Qi Yun had more meat on his face now. That face… Xing Zhongwan turned his head back abruptly. Qi Yun, hurry up and get better, Laozi has to quickly leave soon.

Xing Zhongwan was going to take Qi Yun out but the old housekeeper was unwilling to let them go. She blocked the door, the only thing missing now was her holding a knife to her own throat. “Old lady, what are you doing? It’s a new age now, you’re still living in the past. Should I hand a knife to you too?”

“You can’t take the third young master out, if something goes wrong none of us can take responsibility for it.” The old housekeeper was very determined, her expression was like she was ready to act out at any moment.

“Scram!” Qi Yun’s voice was not loud. The old housekeeper looked at Qi Yun who was sitting in the wheelchair. His complexion was very good. He was still thin but he looked much better compared to more than a month ago. The palms of the old housekeeper were sweating a lot and she knelt forward in front of Qi Yun, “Master Yun, you can’t go out. If anything were to happen to you, our house won’t be able to survive.”

Qi Yun’s hand slowly felt around to his side, reaching up to Xing Zhongwan’s sleeve, gradually pulling his hand down. Xing Zhongwan was startled and wanted to break free, but Qi Yun increased his strength. Xing Zhongwan didn’t want to stare too much at the old housekeeper’s eyeballs that were about to fall out.

“You are my nanny, I don’t want to ruin your image. If you are afraid of getting implicated, you can call my mother. But today, you can’t stop me.” The old housekeeper fell softly to the ground, “Master Yun. You, You, and Xing…Miss Xing. You both…”

Qi Yun’s hollow eyes looked forward without focus. “Was this not what you wanted to see? It’s just as you guys wanted, now scram!”

The old housekeeper climbed to the door. “I won’t let you go out even if I die today.”

The old housekeeper looked at Xing Zhongwan as if looking at a monster. Xing Zhongwan’s hand was held by Qi Yun and there were goosebumps forming on his back, he really wanted to break free.

Qi Yun turned his head. “Wanwan, go to the kitchen and get a knife.”

Xing Zhongwan happily agreed and finally broke out of his hand’s grasp.

He took a fruit knife and handed it to Qi Yun. Qi Yun threw it to the ground. “If you want to die, then let me make your wish come true.”

The cold and ruthless voice was akin to Hell’s Asura. The old housekeeper bowed down, “Master Yun, you can’t do this to me. I watched you grow up, you…”

Xing Zhongwan couldn’t listen to her words any longer. He didn’t know his woman turned out to be Qi Yun’s nanny. The person who fed Qi Yun her milk ever since he was a baby could actually watch him rot on the bed.

The hypocritical scene of the old woman kneeling on the ground made Xing Zhongwan feel particularly sick.

He walked over and dragged the old lady aside, and said to the shivering maids. “Take care of the old housekeeper. The old housekeeper is old now. If anything happens, you guys don’t have to think about living anymore.”

“Don’t touch me. You! I really underestimated you, what methods did you use to confuse the third young master, you…you…”

The old housekeeper was so angry, her eyes turned red. Xing Zhongwan bent down and whispered in her ear. “Say it. Tell Qi Yun that I was not a ‘Miss Xing’ all along. That I am a man, a real man. Say it, do you dare? You think that Qi Yun doesn’t know about the dirty plan of your master and the Xing family’s ploys. This old lady should take care of herself. If Qi Yun can get better, who do you think will be the first one to go under the knife?”

The old housekeeper was stunned and trembling all over. Xing Zhongwan raised his eyebrows, turned and walked towards Qi Yun. It felt so good to use Qi Yun as a shield. Sure enough, in Qi’s house, Qi Yun was the evil demon.

Xing Zhongwan carried Qi Yun into the car, fastened his seatbelt, and made him comfortable with a cushion before getting into the driver’s seat.

“Do not drive straight to the destination, go around the city centre.” Qi Yun spoke faintly. Xing Zhongwan nodded and looked at Qi Yun wearing a white shirt and khaki coat from the rearview mirror. He was the one who chose Qi Yun’s entire outfit today. Qi Yun was still skinny but his face has gradually gone back to what it looked like back then. Xing Zhongwan coughed a few times to hide his embarrassment.

“Are you ill? Caught a cold? “

Qi Yun’s voice was monotone, but there was some rare concern in his tone.

Xing Zhongwan replied with a single ‘no’ before starting the car and driving out of the villa.

Sure enough, not long after driving on the open road, Xing Zhongwan realised that they were being followed.

“There’s someone tailing us.”

Qi Yun said an ‘en’,”Do not worry about him. Drive towards the city. Someone else will draw them away. I have a location tracker on me. “

Xing Zhongwan blew a whistle. Not bad third young master Qi.

“What kind of girl whistles, it’s not elegant.”

Xing Zhongwan decided to take back his ‘not bad’.

“It couldn’t be that you also have a wiretap on you too, right?” “Xing Zhongwan’s originally meant for his remark to be a joke but Qi Yun answered seriously, “At this point, not yet. But I have not ruled it out.”

Xing Zhongwan: …

Let’s just drive properly for now.

After going around the city center a few times, the car that was following them disappeared. Xing Zhongwan took out his mobile phone and started the GPS. Qi Yun said, “Don’t use the GPS, I’ll show you the way.”

Xing Zhongwan looked at him with a stupid expression. Qi Yun said, “I am blind but my brain hasn’t gone bad. First, drive up the highway around the city and then just listen to me after you get off the highway.”

Xing Zhongwan turned off the GPS and drove on the elevated roads to the freeway.

“I didn’t expect the old lady to be your nanny. She really had a hand in raising you.”

Xing Zhongwan took out a lollipop from his pocket and stuffed it into his mouth. He can’t smoke so although he doesn’t like eating sweets, his empty mouth was really uncomfortable.

Qi Yun looked out the window sideways, “After staying in Qi’s house for a long time, I have lost my heart. Maybe the relationship me and her had back then was somewhat sincere. In the first place, it was because I lost my power. Those with no backing in the Qi house cannot survive, she’s only counting the gains and avoiding any losses. It’s just human nature.”

Qi Yun said this calmly.

“Then you don’t hate her?”

Qi Yun turned his head, “Why hate her, she doesn’t matter to me. “

Xing Zhongwan bit the milk-flavored lollipop in his mouth. He was really coldhearted.

“But one day, if you lie to me, I will drag you together to hell. Wanwan, I will not forgive you.”

Qi Yun’s deep voice made Xing Zhongwan chew the candy in his mouth and raise his head. Qi Yun in the rearview mirror was looking straight at him.

Xing Zhongwan slammed the brakes and the car behind him honked their horn and drove past them. He looked back at Qi Yun who was already looking sideways out the window.

Xing Zhongwan gritted his teeth and cursed a ‘fvck!’

A/N: Heyhey! You’re probably wondering why the updates are so often now. Welp! I found a new novel I’d like to share with you guys so I’m hoping to quickly finish up this one so I can get to work on the next!

Also another shameless plug, check out my original work here! If you like dragons and fluff and er sm-t, then I’m sure it’ll be your cup of tea! I’ve written the ML to have tons of self-control and although he might be cold and ruthless to world, he is in-actuality very clingy and childish towards the MC, though only because he cares of MC. I’m not a big fan of novels where ML is possessive but ruins stuff for the MC. To me, that just sounds kinda like lazy writing, where the author makes conflict happen just because of ML’s feelings. Welp, that’s only my opinion though, I prefer conflict to happen because of a bigger picture, or at least when multiple characters and ploys interact with each other to form a huuge clusterf-ck hehe. ASDFG… what am I rambling on about, if you do like it, please leave a comment, I appreciate it tons!
