Chapter 60

Qian Xiaoke said, “Hubby, I really wish every day were Christmas.”

Jiang Tongyan was drenched in sweat and held Qian Xiaoke, who was just as soaked, in his arms. When Jiang Tongyan heard that, his whole body jolted, and he felt an ache in his kidneys.

“Well, uh,” Jiang Tongyan felt his sweat pouring down like a waterfall as he earnestly tried to reason with him. “It’s once a year, that’s why it’s precious. If every day were Christmas, wouldn’t it lose its meaning? Don’t you think so?”

Qian Xiaoke listened and thought it over seriously, then nodded. “That does seem to make sense.”

Jiang Tongyan finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He felt that he might still have lingering aftereffects. His impotence had been cured, but his kidneys were weak.

For a man, being ‘not able to do it’ was a minefield that absolutely could not be stepped on.

Ever since Jiang Tongyan recovered, every time he would leave Qian Xiaoke like this or that, gasping delicately and crying softly. Almost every time, it ended with Qian Xiaoke holding back tears as he begged his husband to hurry up and finish.

But tonight, Qian Xiaoke’s interest had been far too high, and Jiang Tongyan had almost failed to keep him under control.

It had been way too dangerous.

Jiang Tongyan had always believed that letting Qian Xiaoke climax first, and only doing it himself at least twenty minutes later, was the normal process. A domineering CEO had to have this kind of ability.

In the past, his actual performance had been pretty good, but today, he had actually climaxed together with Qian Xiaoke.

Qian Xiaoke had gone crazy today. He wore a tight-fitting reindeer outfit that was irresistibly tempting, and throughout the entire process, he kept his middle finger wearing a diamond ring raised.

Qian Xiaoke was in great shape, and Jiang Tongyan honestly was not bad either, but once the two were compared, the gap became obvious.

Just tonight alone, over the course of an hour and a half, Qian Xiaoke had actively asked to change positions at least five times, and each time he said to Jiang Tongyan, “Husband, hang in there a bit more~! I’m just so happy today.”

To be honest, Jiang Tongyan even felt that his skin had been rubbed raw.

In short, he finally managed to hold on until the two of them reached life’s great harmony together. Qian Xiaoke’s small face was flushed pink as he contentedly snuggled up against Jiang Tongyan and lay down. Jiang Tongyan, meanwhile, had trembling fingers. Of course, it was not only his fingers that were shaking.

       How useless.

       This was far too embarrassing.

Luckily, today he had used the ‘long-lasting’ type that Qian Xiaoke had bought before.

Jiang Tongyan lay there, frowning deeply, and planned to search online for ways to extend the duration of this kind of activity once Qian Xiaoke fell asleep.

       It was very uncomfortable.

       His heart felt sour.

Completely unaware of Jiang Tongyan’s worries, Qian Xiaoke yawned contentedly and snuggled closer into his arms. He then said, “Husband, look at me wearing this ring. Does it look good?”

This question had been asked at least three times tonight during their ‘Santa Claus riding a reindeer’ game.

“It looks good,” Jiang Tongyan said, grabbing his hand and kissing it. “Come on, let’s go take a shower. After that, we should sleep early.”

This place was not like America. No matter how late you messed around on Christmas night, you still had to go to work the next day obediently.

Qian Xiaoke was very well behaved. He dragged his completely exhausted husband off to take a shower and even energetically sat in the tub to scrub his back.

Qian Xiaoke said, “I also know how to do cupping. I’ll let you experience it some other day.”

Jiang Tongyan did not know what cupping was, but since his wife had said it, he obviously had to agree.

So a few days later, one night, Qian Xiaoke, who had finally gritted his teeth and bought a full set of cupping tools, pulled Jiang Tongyan over, had him lie prone, thoughtfully planted a kiss on his back, and then started applying the cups.

The whole process was extremely stimulating, and Jiang Tongyan’s terrified screams echoed throughout the house.

As for cupping, Qian Xiaoke said, “Cupping is really comfortable, but a friendly reminder: if you haven’t learned or trained, please don’t do it casually by yourself. It can be dangerous.”

Jiang Tongyan thought to himself, even if he didn’t remind people, no one would be doing this anyway.

However, very soon, after Qian Xiaoke finished cupping him, Jiang Tongyan was completely won over.

“Cupping is one of the greatest creations of our Chinese nation over five thousand years,” Qian Xiaoke started spouting nonsense again. “Look at your back. It’s no idea how much sexier than before.”

Jiang Tongyan went to the bathroom to look in the mirror, and nearly fainted.

Qian Xiaoke said proudly, “This is art!”

Jiang Tongyan did not know whether to laugh or cry at what he said, but could only nod along and respond, “Yes, yes, art.”

He thought to himself that when he went to see his parents on New Year’s Day, he absolutely could not let them see his back like this. Otherwise, they would probably think Qian Xiaoke had been abusing him at home.

Actually, his parents were far more knowledgeable about the world than he was. He was the only one who did not know what cupping was.

In the days after Christmas, aside from the time spent doing cupping, the usually optimistic Qian Xiaoke remained in a state of anxiety.

There were only two reasons. First, losing weight was really hard. Second, New Year’s Day was coming, and he was going to meet Jiang Tongyan’s parents.

Dating Jiang Tongyan did not scare Qian Xiaoke, but meeting the parents absolutely did.

Qian Xiaoke knew very well what he was worth. The gap in family background and social status between him and Jiang Tongyan was so obvious that he was afraid the elders would think they were not well-matched.

       Anxious, anxious.

Every day at the company, Qian Xiaoke looked like a wandering ghost, no longer showing any dedication to his job.

Jiang Tongyan noticed something was off. He thought Qian Xiaoke might be physically unwell and was terribly worried. That night, when they got home, he pulled him over and said with great earnestness, “Wife, even though people say husband and wife are birds of the same forest, but when disaster strikes, they fly off separately—we are not like that. Heaven and earth can witness my sincerity toward you. We’ll share joy and hardship and get through difficulties together.”

Qian Xiaoke was completely confused by this. He tilted his head and asked doubtfully, “Why are you suddenly saying this? Did you lose money doing business? Do you want me to live a hard life with you?”

       “Huh?”

“It’s fine.” Qian Xiaoke had lived through hard times before. Every day now was the sweetness that came after years of bitterness, and he was least afraid of suffering.

But then he thought about it again. Jiang Tongyan definitely would not be able to handle it.

His Jiang Tongyan had been born with a silver spoon in his mouth, wrapped in gold and silver since childhood, living the life of a young master. If he suddenly fell from heaven to the ground, he would need a lot of comforting, soothing, and careful care.

Qian Xiaoke reached out and patted Jiang Tongyan’s hair. “It’s okay, don’t worry. I will absolutely never leave you.”

       “You’ll never leave me?”

“Yeah,” Qian Xiaoke said. “I may be poor, but my character is still decent.”

Jiang Tongyan was baffled. Wasn’t it supposed to be him who would never leave Qian Xiaoke?

Or had Qian Xiaoke learned something incredible behind his back?

Jiang Tongyan grabbed Qian Xiaoke’s hand. “Wait. Explain this clearly to me. What do you mean by never leaving me?”

“Sigh, you’re my husband,” Qian Xiaoke said. “As the saying goes, in the business world, wins and losses are common for domineering CEOs. Even though we took a loss this time, we can make a comeback. I’ll definitely stay with you.”

Jiang Tongyan frowned. “Took a loss? Who took a loss? Whose loss was it? Did Cheng Sen do something behind my back and lose the company?”

       “Huh? I don’t know.”

“Then what are you talking about?”

“Aren’t you asking me to face hardship together with you because you lost money in business?”

“…Your thinking is really broad.” Jiang Tongyan was about to explode with anger.

Was this kid cursing him? What good would it do him to curse him into poverty?

“Wake up.” Jiang Tongyan raised his hand and flicked him on the forehead. “I meant that I want to face hardship together with you.”

Jiang Tongyan sighed. “You’ve been frowning lately. Did you run into some kind of trouble?”

As soon as he finished speaking, inspiration suddenly struck him. His hand moved to Qian Xiaoke’s stomach. “Wife, did you get pregnant?”

Qian Xiaoke looked at Jiang Tongyan as if he were watching an idiot perform.

Jiang Tongyan gently stroked Qian Xiaoke’s rounded belly. Yes, for Qian Xiaoke, no matter how troubled he felt, meals still had to be filling and good. As for losing weight, he had to eat his fill to have the strength to lose weight.

From this, it was clear that his determination to lose weight was not sincere at all, and perhaps he really should feel anxious.

“Getting pregnant is a good thing,” Jiang Tongyan said. “It’s the crystallisation of our love. Don’t worry. Once the child is born, I’ll give him the best life.”

Qian Xiaoke blinked, then pressed his lips together.

       “What are you thinking about?”

Of course, Jiang Tongyan knew Qian Xiaoke could not possibly be pregnant. They were not in an mpreg novel, and no matter how capable Qian Xiaoke was, he still could not give birth.

That said, every time they did that kind of thing, Qian Xiaoke would cling to him and shout loudly about wanting to bear his child. Used to set the mood and add interest, it was actually quite effective.

“Then what is wrong with you?” Jiang Tongyan said. “It’s been days. You’ve been so worried. If you’re not pregnant, could it be that Cheng Sen docked your pay without permission? Wait here. Your husband will go get justice for you.”

Only then did Qian Xiaoke finally understand why Jiang Tongyan had dragged him over and started acting crazy.

It was because his behaviour these past few days had been too abnormal, and the other man was worried about him.

Qian Xiaoke smiled. He leaned in, wrapped both arms around Jiang Tongyan’s neck, nestled into his chest, and acted spoiled.

       “You were worried about me?”

“Who else would I worry about?” Jiang Tongyan said. “It wouldn’t be appropriate to worry about anyone else.”

Qian Xiaoke grinned, biting his lip. “Why are you so good?”

“Just average,” Jiang Tongyan said. As soon as Qian Xiaoke praised him, his tail practically shot up to the sky. “Basically, if I call myself second in this world, no one would dare call themselves first.”

Qian Xiaoke was amused by his thick skin and laughed out loud.

“So,” Jiang Tongyan said, “tell me. What’s really going on?”

Just then, Jiang Tongyan’s phone rang.

He picked it up, glanced at it, and suddenly smiled. “Well, this is something new.”

Qian Xiaoke watched him answer the call and heard Jiang Tongyan say, “Mom, why are you calling at this hour?”

“Huh? You’re already outside the complex? You don’t have an access card and got stopped by security? I’m not at my own place. I’m next door. Yes, yes, at Xiaoke’s place.” As he spoke, Jiang Tongyan smiled at Qian Xiaoke and pulled him up from the sofa. “Alright, wait there. Xiaoke and I will come down to get you.”

After hanging up, Jiang Tongyan said, “My parents came early. Surprised? Shocked?”

Qian Xiaoke nearly fainted when he heard that.

He grabbed the corner of Jiang Tongyan’s clothes and said, “This is exactly why I’ve been worried these past few days…”

       It was over.

The in-laws had arrived, and he was still fat. Qian Xiaoke wailed inwardly. Thinking of the scene in domineering CEO novels where someone says, “Here’s five million, leave my son,” he suddenly felt that he might be about to take the money and walk away.

Chapter 59

Qian Xiaoke truly lived up to being Qian Xiaoke.

Jiang Tongyan thought to himself: as expected of the person I chose.

Putting that song out of his mind, this gift was still full of tenderness and affection.

The little reindeer in Qian Xiaoke’s heart was hopping around excitedly at that moment. He had actually been a bit nervous about giving this gift. It was his first time knitting a scarf, and it felt just like how a mother looks at her own child—no matter how she looked at it, it seemed wonderful, but that didn’t mean other people would feel the same.

He was afraid he hadn’t knitted it well and that Jiang Tongyan would dislike it.

But he had forgotten that he was the ‘child’s’ mother, who had ‘carried’ it for a long time before ‘giving birth’ to it, and that the ‘child’s’ father was Jiang Tongyan.

Parents were all the same—when they looked at their own child, it was always a treasure.

In the northern winter, indoor heating was excellent. Usually, when the two of them got home, they practically wanted to wander around the apartment in nothing but their underwear. Right now, Jiang Tongyan was wearing a Santa Claus outfit and was already feeling stifled.

But once Qian Xiaoke presented his gift, Jiang Tongyan didn’t care about any of that. Liking it so much, he immediately wrapped it around his neck.

       It was really warm.

The thick, soft knitted scarf even carried Qian Xiaoke’s body scent or at least, the body scent Jiang Tongyan imagined.

“How are you so skilful?” Jiang Tongyan said with a scarf around his neck and sweat all over his head. “I don’t even know how to praise you anymore.”

       He should really go learn.

He needed to join some kind of ‘learning how to praise’ group, and praise his wife every day when he got home.

“You don’t need to praise me,” Qian Xiaoke leaned in, hugging his waist and acting spoiled. “As long as you don’t dislike it.”

“Huh? What nonsense are you talking about?” Jiang Tongyan kissed Qian Xiaoke on the forehead. “You don’t have a fever, do you?”

Qian Xiaoke let out an ‘Aiya’ and said, “Other people use thermometers to check temperature. You’re using your mouth?”

“Why not?” Jiang Tongyan said. “We’re basically conjoined twins. I don’t need to measure—one kiss, and I know whether you have a fever.”

The ‘little reindeer’ Qian Xiaoke lay against his chest, pressed his lips together, and then said something that almost made Jiang Tongyan pass out on the spot.

He said, “But… forehead temperature isn’t accurate.”

He blinked his big eyes, his small face flushed red, and even wriggled a bit in Jiang Tongyan’s arms.

“Santa Claus, do you want to use your ‘thermometer’ to measure the reindeer’s rectal temperature?”

Qian Xiaoke nearly bit his own tongue after saying it. It was too embarrassing. How could he be this embarrassing? He was a pure, innocent boy, unparalleled in the universe.

The unparalleled-in-the-universe pure boy Qian Xiaoke felt that he should probably read fewer of those unspeakable novels in the future. Turning everyday life into that kind of story was really morally degenerate.

Even though that was what he thought, being the protagonist of one of those novels was still kind of exciting.

Qian Xiaoke tilted his head up, and what he saw was…

“Husband, why are you having a nosebleed?” Qian Xiaoke panicked. He hurriedly struggled out of Jiang Tongyan’s arms. His eyes were wide with shock, and he raised his hand to wipe at Jiang Tongyan’s nose.

If he hadn’t said anything, Jiang Tongyan wouldn’t have even noticed he was bleeding. His mind had been completely occupied by what Qian Xiaoke had just said.

Thinking about it, it was really embarrassing. When they had first met, he had gone impotent for a long time because of a single sentence from the other person. And now, on the very night of a successful proposal, he was bleeding from the nose again because of something the other person said.

Jiang Tongyan felt this was completely unreasonable. No matter how you looked at it, he was a powerful, dominant CEO—so why did these laughable, awkward incidents keep happening to him?

If Baidu ever had an entry called The Encyclopedia of Jiang Tongyan’s Awkward Moments, then once you opened the page, there would probably be an extremely long list, long enough to go perfectly with alcohol.

Or if a TV station gave him a segment called Cold Sweat Confessions, he could guarantee a full 24-hour live broadcast every day, without repeating content.

       It was just that embarrassing.

       And very sad.

With one wipe, Qian Xiaoke smeared Jiang Tongyan’s face, making it look even more alarming.

He hurried off to grab some tissues, then turned back and saw Jiang Tongyan tilting his head up. He immediately stopped him. “No, no! You can’t tilt your head back!”

Holding the tissues, he ran over and made him stand upright. “If you tilt your head back, the blood will flow backwards, and you’ll choke on it! Don’t you have any common sense?”

Seeing how flustered he was, Jiang Tongyan smiled and hummed softly.

He had just instinctively tilted his head back—otherwise the floor would be covered in blood. Anyone who didn’t know better might think the two of them had gone at it too hard and someone had died.

Jiang Tongyan stuffed tissues into his nose and watched Qian Xiaoke bustle around with a smile.

“You’re still laughing!” Qian Xiaoke complained.

Still dressed in the sexy reindeer outfit, Qian Xiaoke ran into the bathroom again. When he came back out, he was holding a towel that had been rinsed with cold water.

He pressed the towel against Jiang Tongyan’s forehead. It was ice-cold and instantly refreshing.

“Why did you suddenly get a nosebleed?” Qian Xiaoke asked. “Could you be sick? Should we go to the hospital tomorrow?”

If it were Qian Xiaoke himself having a nosebleed, he wouldn’t treat it as anything serious at all. He might even take a selfie, make a silly face, and post it to his WeChat Moments.

But Jiang Tongyan having a nosebleed was different. That had to be taken seriously.

Everything about Jiang Tongyan had to be taken seriously.

This was the manifestation of Qian Xiaoke’s deep affection and care for his fiancé!

“It’s nothing,” Jiang Tongyan said. Qian Xiaoke pulled him to sit down on the sofa, where he leaned back and waited for the bleeding to stop, though his mind was filled with unspeakable thoughts.

That wasn’t really his fault. He had never been able to handle teasing very well. And Qian Xiaoke was already dressed provocatively enough today, then went and said those words to seduce him.

The fact that he hadn’t fainted on the spot was already impressive.

“Come here,” Jiang Tongyan said. “Sit on my lap. Let me touch you a bit.”

Qian Xiaoke was still worried about his nosebleed when he suddenly heard him say something like that. He immediately shot him a sharp look.

Unfortunately, it didn’t scare Jiang Tongyan at all.

That ‘sharp look’ wasn’t very professional. It was more like a flirtatious glance—one with a hook on it. And once it was thrown, it hooked Jiang Tongyan’s soul.

The hopeless Jiang Tongyan had his heart completely caught. He leaned over and forcibly pulled Qian Xiaoke closer.

“Let’s make out for a bit,” Jiang Tongyan said, dragging his partner in the tight, sexy reindeer outfit over and making him sit on his lap.

“Oh.” Qian Xiaoke was so embarrassed he almost started smoking.

“What is it now? What are you ‘oh’-ing about again?” Jiang Tongyan said. One hand held the damp towel on his forehead, while the other wandered over Qian Xiaoke’s waist. Despite wearing a Santa Claus outfit, he showed not the slightest bit of Santa’s kindness—he looked entirely like a lecherous old landlord.

“You… that…” Qian Xiaoke was so shy that he looked like a virtuous virgin. “It’s poking me.”

Jiang Tongyan looked down and laughed so hard his body shook.

       Poking him?

       Wasn’t that even better?

The lecherous landlord showed no intention of restraining himself. He kept kneading Qian Xiaoke’s waist, his hands gradually moving lower, making Qian Xiaoke squirm like a fish.

“Ahn!” Qian Xiaoke grabbed his hand. “Wait a bit before you do that!”

       He was worried about him!

Qian Xiaoke was a little eager too, but they had to stop the nosebleed first. Otherwise, doing that while blood was still flowing would be extremely bloody! It would be a scene that wouldn’t even pass censorship on a novel website!

“Wait for what? I’m dying of impatience,” Jiang Tongyan said. “Haven’t you heard that a moment of passion on a spring night is worth a thousand gold pieces? If we keep waiting, think of how much I’m losing!”

“Your Chinese literature education isn’t bad,” Qian Xiaoke said. Jiang Tongyan pulled him into his arms, and he obediently rested against his chest. When he lifted his head to speak, he ended up with a mouthful of yarn.

Yes, Jiang Tongyan was vain. His wife had knitted him a scarf, so he insisted on wearing it all the time, even though he was already sweating profusely.

Even though there were no outsiders at home and no one to show off to, he still wore it.

This was his persistence as Qian Xiaoke’s fiancé.

Qian Xiaoke reached out, took the scarf off him, and muttered, “It’s so warm at home; why are you still wearing this?”

“This is your love,” Jiang Tongyan said, having secretly been studying lately. His words now flowed smoothly. “As the husband you carefully chose and finally kept by your side, of course I have to carry your love with me at all times.”

Qian Xiaoke said, “…What have you been reading lately?”

       “Nothing.”

“Give me your phone. Let me see.”

Jiang Tongyan hesitated for a moment, then handed it over.

As a good husband of the modern era, if his wife wanted to look at his phone, how could he refuse?

Qian Xiaoke didn’t look at anything else. He didn’t have a habit of reading other people’s chat histories. To him, loving someone meant trusting them, and he was very certain that Jiang Tongyan would never mess around outside.

Of course, ‘trusting him’ referred to trusting his feelings, not his taste in reading material.

Sure enough, when Qian Xiaoke opened Jiang Tongyan’s reading app, the titles he saw were things like The Wickedly Charming Husband’s One Thousand and One Nights, The Arrogant Domineering CEO’s Guide to Spoiling His Wife, and The Domineering CEO is the Top, He is the Bottom.

Qian Xiaoke read web novels too, and he was a seasoned reader at that. But even he felt his right eyelid twitch when he saw those titles.

“Old Jiang, why don’t you read the novels I recommended to you?” he asked.

Jiang Tongyan stammered for a long while before saying, “It’s not that I don’t want to read them, but…”

“But what?” The two of them, who were originally about to engage in deeper physical interaction, had somehow drifted into a serious and earnest ‘literary discussion’.

“The ones you recommended are good,” Jiang Tongyan said, “but whenever it gets to the critical moment, they skip over it. It feels a bit… unsatisfying.”

He said very seriously, “As an adult, I still want to read that kind of thing.”

Qian Xiaoke glared at him. “That’s all you amount to.”

“Not exactly,” Jiang Tongyan said, hugging him with a grin. “I’ve got other talents too.”

“Huh? Like what?” Qian Xiaoke was thinking about which truly adult novels he should send him later, but before he could finish sorting them out in his head, he had already been picked up.

Jiang Tongyan’s nosebleed had stopped. The lecherous landlord—no, Santa Claus—carried his reindeer toward the bedroom.

“Don’t judge those novels by their tacky titles,” Jiang Tongyan said. “The content is really worth studying.”

       Studying?

       Studying what?

Qian Xiaoke hadn’t figured it out yet when he was tossed onto the bed.

“My little reindeer,” Jiang Tongyan said, “are you ready?”

Qian Xiaoke smiled coyly. “So annoying. Don’t ask.”

When Jiang Tongyan leaned in, he pressed close to his ear and said, “I’ve decided—when I have time, I’ll write a novel too. I’ll call it The Domineering Santa Claus Riding a Reindeer for One Thousand and One Nights.”

Chapter 58

       It’s great to be rich.

Qian Xiaoke’s very first reaction when he saw the ring was that he also wanted to buy Jiang Tongyan a ring just as big for him to wear.

He wanted to give Jiang Tongyan all the best things in the world, including himself.

Put that way, it sounded a little thick-skinned. How did he end up counting himself as ‘the best thing’?

But Qian Xiaoke felt that Jiang Tongyan would probably be very happy being with him, and anything that could make someone happy was the best thing.

“Hey,” Jiang Tongyan called out to him. “Even if you’re going to turn me down, do it later. At least agree first. There are so many people watching, I’ll lose face otherwise!”

Qian Xiaoke had been drifting off into space, and Jiang Tongyan was still kneeling on one knee, waiting for an answer.

“Yes, yes, yes!” Of course he would!

Qian Xiaoke finally snapped back to his senses. He hurriedly took the flowers, then asked Jiang Tongyan, “This ring… Is it real?”

A diamond ring this big, he had only ever seen on Taobao, the kind that cost 9.9 yuan with free shipping, the kind you could tell at a glance was fake.

Did a proper, genuine diamond ring really get this big?

Jiang Tongyan laughed. “How about we find a piece of glass and scratch it to test?”

Qian Xiaoke was amused by him and leaned into his arms, laughing. “I apologise for my recklessness.”

As he laughed, Qian Xiaoke’s nose started to sting again.

“Come on,” Jiang Tongyan said. “Gege will put it on for you.” He gently pushed him out of his arms so Qian Xiaoke could stand properly.

Holding him could wait until they got home. Once they were back, not only could he hold him, but he could do other things too.

At this moment, the most important thing was to secure Qian Xiaoke first.

As Jiang Tongyan put the ring on his finger, he said, “Once you wear my ring, you’re mine. From now on, gege will be your lover-gege.”

Qian Xiaoke lowered his eyes and looked at the outrageously large diamond ring now on his finger. He pursed his lips, wanting to cry.

“What’s wrong?” Jiang Tongyan noticed something was off the moment he looked up. “Why are you crying?”

Qian Xiaoke was stubborn. “I’m not crying. I’m laughing wildly.”

After he said that, Jiang Tongyan burst into exaggerated laughter. “See? This is what wild laughter looks like. I suspect you have some kind of misunderstanding about emotions.”

Qian Xiaoke puffed out his cheeks, crying as he laughed. “You’re so annoying! I’m touched! And you’re making fun of me!”

He touched the big diamond ring on his finger. “I suddenly feel like I’m really lucky.”

Jiang Tongyan looked at Qian Xiaoke and reached up to smooth down a little tuft of hair sticking up on the top of his head. That strand had been flattened and bent by his knitted hat with bunny ears, and no matter how he smoothed it, it wouldn’t lie flat.

So be it—let it stick up.

       Just like their love.

“You are pretty lucky,” Jiang Tongyan said. “I bought the ring blindly, and the size still fits perfectly.”

Of course it hadn’t been a blind purchase.

Jiang Tongyan had secretly measured Qian Xiaoke’s finger while he was asleep, and the diamond itself had been carefully chosen.

You only proposed once in a lifetime, how could he possibly be casual about it?

But Jiang Tongyan cared about his pride. He would never admit that he had been so nervous about proposing that he hadn’t slept properly for days, nor would he admit that worrying Qian Xiaoke might dislike such a ‘gaudy’ diamond ring had made him so anxious he was nearly constipated.

“That’s not what I meant!” Qian Xiaoke raised a fist to punch his shoulder, but the ring on his finger suddenly flashed and dazzled his eyes, and he experienced firsthand what it meant to have a soft hand after taking someone’s gift.

Once you had taken someone’s ring, you couldn’t even bring yourself to hit them anymore.

“So,” Jiang Tongyan said, “does that mean this proposal ceremony is over?”

“Do you have anything else planned?”

       For example: forcefully kissing me.

For example: sweeping me up in a princess carry in front of everyone.

       “No.”

Qian Xiaoke had nothing to say.

Still, it was fine. He had never expected Jiang Tongyan to suddenly propose today in the first place.

       “Ah!”

“What are you ‘ah’-ing about now?” Jiang Tongyan asked. “Don’t like the ring?”

“No!” Qian Xiaoke said. “You should’ve told me you were going to propose! I should’ve worn the new sweater I just bought!”

Jiang Tongyan laughed out loud and wrapped an arm around him as they went back to the table.

“Alright, alright. You’re not some big celebrity. Getting proposed to isn’t going to make the trending list.”

“…Hey, how about you propose again after we get home?”

       “Huh?”

“When we get home, I’ll change into a new outfit, then put on some foundation and blush, dress myself up all pretty, and then you can propose to me all over again.”

Jiang Tongyan looked at him like he was looking at an idiot.

Qian Xiaoke held it in for a moment, then finally couldn’t help himself and collapsed to the side laughing.

“I’m joking! You really don’t have a single humorous cell in your body!”

“I’m not a comedian,” Jiang Tongyan said. “What do I need humour cells for?”

Qian Xiaoke looked at him with a bright smile. After watching him for a bit, he said, “That’s true. Anyway, no matter what you’re like, I like you. No matter what you’re like, you’re my lover-gege.”

This time, it was Jiang Tongyan’s ears that turned red.

How could a domineering CEO get shy?

A domineering CEO was just feeling hot, that was all.

The overheated domineering CEO forced himself to suppress his smile and finished the meal with the little darling at the tip of his heart. During that time, he asked him eight times, “You really are willing to marry me?”

At first, Qian Xiaoke answered sweetly, but later he got impatient. “Jiang Tongyan, what’s wrong with you? Do you not believe me?”

“I just…” Jiang Tongyan coughed awkwardly, then lowered his voice and said indistinctly, “I don’t dare believe it.”

“What’s there not to dare believe?” Qian Xiaoke thought to himself that the one who should be afraid this was all a dream ought to be him.

Jiang Tongyan smiled at him. “It’s fine. Eat up. After we’re done, we’ll go home and make love.”

“Not a chance.” Qian Xiaoke lowered his head and smiled to himself, glancing now and then at the heavy, oversized diamond ring on his finger. “Such an expensive restaurant—I’m going to savour it properly.”

       ============

By the time Jiang Tongyan and Qian Xiaoke got home, it was already very late. According to Qian Xiaoke’s recent habits, he should have been sleepy by then.

But today was different. There were so many things worth getting excited about that he would probably be unable to sleep for two or three days.

This was very unhealthy and not something anyone should learn from.

The moment they opened the door, before they even stepped inside, Qian Xiaoke was pulled into Jiang Tongyan’s arms and kissed until his mouth and face were all wet.

He made soft, muffled sounds, his legs felt a little weak, embarrassed and flustered, but also a little excited.

Once inside, Jiang Tongyan, the big pervert, immediately tried to strip off his fluffy bunny pants. Qian Xiaoke grabbed his hand and said, “Husband, wait a second!”

       Husband.

That word went straight to Jiang Tongyan’s heart.

Qian Xiaoke had occasionally called him that before, especially in bed, sweet and coy. He called him like that every time until Jiang Tongyan’s bones went soft, while that part went rock hard.

       But this time was different.

Now, Jiang Tongyan really was his husband.

       A husband-to-be.

“Husband can’t wait anymore.” Jiang Tongyan still tugged his pants off. “You calling me that clearly isn’t because you want me to wait.”

“Hey! Wait!” Qian Xiaoke struggled free and slipped away.

Jiang Tongyan, having been rejected, stood at the entryway looking pitifully at Qian Xiaoke bending over to pull his pants back up. “You don’t love me anymore? Has marriage really become the grave of our love?”

Qian Xiaoke looked up at him. “What nonsense are you talking about? I have a gift for you.”

After pulling his pants on, Qian Xiaoke ran into the house. “Wait for me!”

Before going in, he even poked his head back out deliberately. “Husband, remember to put on Santa Claus’s outfit, okay? Muach muach.”

The schedule today had really been packed too full. The impatient Jiang Tongyan had almost forgotten the special reserved act he had prepared—Santa Claus riding a reindeer.

Qian Xiaoke ran into the bedroom, quickly changed his clothes, and then pulled out the Christmas gift he had hidden under the bed.

The gift was wrapped tightly in red wrapping paper and tied with a bow.

As he hugged the present and walked back out, his gaze flicked again to the diamond ring on his finger. He took a deep breath and walked toward Jiang Tongyan outside.

He knew that, no matter what, he and Jiang Tongyan came from two different worlds. For Jiang Tongyan, he could arrange a proposal at the city’s most expensive restaurant with the best service, commission a one-of-a-kind, oversized diamond ring, and create romantic surprises that Qian Xiaoke had only ever seen in idol dramas. Those were all things Qian Xiaoke could not do.

But he also had his own way of expressing his feelings.

The gift in Qian Xiaoke’s arms was something he had prepared with great care. He believed Jiang Tongyan would definitely be able to feel the affection behind it, and that he would like it and cherish it.

Jiang Tongyan had never been the kind of person who measured feelings with money. About that, Qian Xiaoke was confident.

Wearing the reindeer outfit, he opened the bedroom door.

Outside the door, his Santa Claus stood there waiting for him, smiling brightly.

“Does it look good?” Qian Xiaoke stepped out and asked.

       He was quite shy.

Jiang Tongyan really was too flashy. The reindeer outfit he had designed for Qian Xiaoke could basically be described as ‘barely covering anything’. A perfectly good reindeer had turned into a reindeer spirit.

       So embarrassing!

       Way too embarrassing!

Qian Xiaoke hugged his gift, his face red like a little tomato.

       Jiang Tongyan was completely stunned.

“You…” Jiang Tongyan swallowed. “Why does your butt look perkier?”

In the past, Jiang Tongyan had always said Qian Xiaoke had a flat butt. That wasn’t really his fault; Qian Xiaoke’s butt really had been flat.

But today, it looked kind of tempting.

Qian Xiaoke chuckled. “I learned from Zhou Mo.”

       “Huh?”

“He has a set of glute exercises. Lately, when you were working overtime, I was doing them at home.” He had only tried them with a casual mindset, but unexpectedly, they really seemed to work a little.

Qian Xiaoke walked over and handed the gift to Jiang Tongyan. “Husband—ah, no, Santa Claus—will you accept the reindeer’s gift?”

At that moment, Jiang Tongyan had no interest at all in opening a gift. He only wanted to unwrap this little reindeer first.

       But he couldn’t disappoint him.

Overcome with desire, Jiang Tongyan forcibly restrained himself from pouncing and biting him, and instead took the exquisitely wrapped box from his hands.

The box wasn’t heavy, but it was fairly large.

He carefully unwrapped it, not even willing to damage the wrapping paper.

Jiang Tongyan didn’t ask what was inside. He wanted to open it himself.

When the box was opened, inside lay a black knitted scarf.

Qian Xiaoke said, “When I was in college, the girls in my class would knit scarves for the guys they liked every winter. This one is the scarf I knitted for you. Do you like it?”

He liked it. He liked it very much.

But at that moment, for some reason, a song echoed in Jiang Tongyan’s mind—I knitted a sweater for an idiot.

It was fine. At least it was a scarf, not a sweater.

“If you like it,” Qian Xiaoke said, “I still have yarn. I can knit you a sweater too.”

Chapter 57

Jiang Tongyan had a dream of being the male lead in an idol drama.

Jiang Tongyan was the kind of man who harboured a dream of being the male lead in an idol drama.

Of course, this was something he absolutely could not let anyone else know. After all, it would be pretty embarrassing if it got out.

He couldn’t say it, but he could act it out.

For this Christmas, he had spent over a week planning everything from start to finish, even going so far as to personally selecting each dish at the restaurant with great care.

So far, it looked like nothing more than the two of them going out to eat after work, but Jiang Tongyan had a plan.

Qian Xiaoke had no sense of romance and no flair for atmosphere. Aside from having a sweet mouth and calling him ‘gege, gege’ all day long, he didn’t really know how to do anything else. Naturally, the responsibility of creating romance fell squarely on Jiang Tongyan’s shoulders.

Being a domineering CEO was exhausting.

A domineering CEO had to manage his career and manufacture romance.

But the domineering CEO did it willingly.

Because the domineering CEO really, really liked this sweet-talking, fluffy little bunny.

The taxi came to a stop, and Qian Xiaoke leaned forward to look outside.

       He knew this restaurant.

When he used to take the bus home, he often passed by it. The clean, minimalist exterior design had once made him think nothing of the place. Later, a coworker told him that the average meal cost here exceeded their monthly salary.

And hidden within that statement was another important detail: the coworker who said it earned two thousand more than Qian Xiaoke.

Qian Xiaoke’s eyes went wide. “We’re… eating here?”

Wasn’t this a bit too extravagant?

Qian Xiaoke knew he was just a small, bottom-tier city dweller who had never experienced the life of the wealthy. Every month’s salary had to be stretched and split carefully. Spending that much money on a single meal honestly made his head feel like it was about to explode.

“Get out of the car.” Jiang Tongyan got out first and held the door open for him. “Weren’t you hungry?”

       Qian Xiaoke wasn’t hungry.

       Qian Xiaoke was feeling guilty.

Seeing his hesitation, Jiang Tongyan smiled and physically pulled him out of the car. “Come on—don’t delay the driver from picking up his next passenger.”

Qian Xiaoke snapped back to his senses, quickly thanked the driver, and got out.

The two of them stood by the roadside, and Qian Xiaoke stared at the three-story white building in front of him.

“I’m really broadening my horizons by sticking with you,” Qian Xiaoke said. “Old Jiang, aren’t we being a bit too luxurious?”

“It’s only Christmas once a year. A little extravagance is fine.” And besides, this wasn’t just any ordinary Christmas—Jiang Tongyan had a surprise waiting for him.

Jiang Tongyan tugged at the sleeve of Qian Xiaoke’s down jacket and led him inside like he was guiding a child.

       “Remember, stay calm later.”

       “Huh?” Qian Xiaoke said. “Oh.”

Qian Xiaoke assumed Jiang Tongyan was worried that he—a poor, inexperienced nobody—might let out ghost-like exclamations upon entering such a high-end restaurant.

       But he wouldn’t.

Even though he was dying to know what it looked like inside, and whether the food was made of gold or diamonds, now that he was here, he knew he had to put on a calm, indifferent front. Qian Xiaoke understood that much.

Hearing his ‘oh’, Jiang Tongyan laughed inwardly. Oh my ass—just wait, you won’t even be able to say ‘oh’ later.

As soon as they reached the entrance, two handsome men in uniform stepped forward to open the doors for them. Qian Xiaoke immediately grasped something important—this place was expensive for a reason. Hiring such handsome guys just to stand guard at the door couldn’t have been cheap.

Qian Xiaoke stole a couple more glances at the handsome men, and just as he turned back, Jiang Tongyan caught him in the act.

“You’re the most handsome,” Qian Xiaoke said. “They’re nowhere near your level.”

Jiang Tongyan smiled with satisfaction. “Very good.”

The exceedingly well-behaved fluffy bunny followed Jiang Tongyan inside. Before they even sat down, a waiter took their coats, and another pulled out the chairs. Everything, absolutely everything, was arranged neatly by the staff.

Having never enjoyed this kind of service before, Qian Xiaoke felt extremely embarrassed. His little face flushed red, like a pink, ripe peach.

       Jiang Tongyan was tempted.

       He wanted to eat.

After sitting down, Qian Xiaoke cautiously glanced around and whispered to Jiang Tongyan in an extremely soft voice, “Wouldn’t this restaurant go bankrupt?”

“Hm? What’s wrong?” Jiang Tongyan asked him.

Qian Xiaoke said, “It’s peak dinner time right now, but the entire restaurant only has the two of us.”

Jiang Tongyan smiled faintly. “Probably because…everyone else had other plans today.”

Qian Xiaoke pursed his lips, feeling a bit sorry for the restaurant.

In winter, night fell early, and by the time they got off work, it was already completely dark.

The restaurant was lit with warm orange lights, and just by turning his head, Qian Xiaoke could see the night outside through the nearby windows.

Jiang Tongyan handed the menu to Qian Xiaoke and said he needed to go to the restroom first.

The moment he stood up, Qian Xiaoke’s eyes stayed fixed on him.

With Jiang Tongyan gone, Qian Xiaoke felt even more unsettled. He glanced down at the menu and immediately felt dizzy.

The text on the menu was neither Chinese nor English. He had no idea what language it was. It was something foreign, with thin, worm-like letters that he couldn’t read at all.

Not being able to read it was one thing. Qian Xiaoke thought he might just pick something that seemed reasonably priced, but then he realised that none of the dishes had prices listed.

Did rich people order food without looking at prices?

       It was truly headache-inducing.

Qian Xiaoke decided not to put on airs. He would just wait for Jiang Tongyan to come back and let that experienced rich man do the ordering.

As he was thinking this, the lights in the restaurant suddenly went out.

Was there a sudden power outage?

Qian Xiaoke muttered, “Even a place this fancy can lose power?”

With the interior lights gone, the night view outside looked even more captivating.

Qian Xiaoke propped his chin on his hand and looked out the window, planning to ask Jiang Tongyan when he came back whether they should just go home instead.

Back home, he still had a gift prepared for his fierce boyfriend.

However, Qian Xiaoke’s plan to go home was interrupted because in the pitch-dark restaurant, piano music suddenly began to play.

He turned toward the sound in surprise. Before he could react, candlelight flickered to life throughout the room.

       A candlelight dinner?

Qian Xiaoke’s mouth fell open in astonishment.

With not a single electric light on, the entire restaurant was bathed in gentle candlelight, glowing with warm tones.

At the very centre of the restaurant stood a white grand piano. When they had entered earlier, Qian Xiaoke had thought it was merely a decoration, but now, someone was seated there, playing.

The piece was one Qian Xiaoke knew extremely well. Years ago, countless people had used this very song, ‘Wedding in a Dream’, as their phone ringtone.

But that wasn’t the important part. What mattered was that the person playing looked oddly familiar. It seemed like…

       “Old Jiang?”

Qian Xiaoke’s voice reached Jiang Tongyan’s ears. The domineering CEO, elegantly playing the piano, merely curved his lips upward and smiled discreetly.

Qian Xiaoke, who had been sitting there, unconsciously stood up and began walking toward Jiang Tongyan step by step.

He hadn’t known that Jiang Tongyan could play the piano.

Of course, a domineering CEO like Jiang Tongyan had many skills; he just hadn’t had the chance to show them before.

As Qian Xiaoke slowly approached, he looked at the sensual curve of Jiang Tongyan’s profile, then at his fingers dancing nimbly across the piano keys. His heart pounded wildly; he was practically being enchanted to death by his boyfriend.

The piece wasn’t long, and Jiang Tongyan soon brought it to an end.

He turned to look at Qian Xiaoke and smiled slightly.

Qian Xiaoke exclaimed, “That sounded so good! You’re amazing!”

He had never been stingy with his praise for Jiang Tongyan—men were meant to be praised!

The hearts in Qian Xiaoke’s eyes were practically shooting straight at Jiang Tongyan’s forehead.

Jiang Tongyan was so happy he could barely contain himself. He raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

At the same time, music filled the restaurant again. This time, it was violin music, but not Jiang Tongyan playing. Instead, a small ensemble suddenly appeared not far away: two men and two women, dressed in formal attire, playing violins.

Qian Xiaoke thought to himself that this was kind of amazing.

Wasn’t this the sort of scene that only showed up in idol dramas?

High-end restaurants really were different!!! Service this attentive was on another level!

Little did he know that none of this had been arranged by the restaurant at all. It was entirely designed by his Old Jiang himself, and it had cost quite a lot of money.

Along with the violin music came one of the restaurant’s handsome waiters.

Qian Xiaoke watched as the handsome waiter pushed over a small cart. On it stood a Christmas tree covered with decorations, and beneath it were several beautifully wrapped gift boxes.

The handsome waiter wheeled the cart right up to Qian Xiaoke. Jiang Tongyan said, “Your Christmas present.”

“A tree?” And a handsome guy?

The tree he could accept. The handsome guy, no.

Qian Xiaoke thought to himself that handsome guys were great, but one Jiang Tongyan was more than enough for him.

He really wasn’t greedy at all.

Jiang Tongyan couldn’t hold it in and laughed. “Yes, a tree.”

       Idiot.

Jiang Tongyan pointed at the tree. “Look for it. There’s a special gift.”

Qian Xiaoke glanced at it, walked over to the Christmas tree, bent down, and picked up the gift box on the far right.

There were six gift boxes in total under the tree, each labelled with a number. The one Qian Xiaoke picked up was marked “No. 1.”

He opened it. Inside was a slip of paper, on which Jiang Tongyan had written, in handwriting barely better than an elementary schooler’s: Wife, muah muah muah!

Qian Xiaoke laughed so hard he nearly blacked out.

“What is this?” he said, laughing as he lightly punched Jiang Tongyan’s shoulder, the note still in his hand.

But as he laughed, his nose started to sting. It was clearly just a piece of paper. It wasn’t as if no one had ever kissed him before. And yet, for some inexplicable reason, he was so moved he wanted to cry.

Qian Xiaoke complained to himself that he really was a delicate little flower, moved so easily.

“There’s more,” Jiang Tongyan said. “Open them one by one, in the order they’re placed.”

This was obviously planned out. Even though Qian Xiaoke wanted to rebel a little, he knew this wasn’t the right time to do so.

He obediently opened the gifts in order.

       Wife, muah muah muah!

My precious sweetheart, today is the who-knows-how-manyth day since we met!

You little pig probably don’t even know how long we’ve known each other!

But that’s okay—your husband loves you, muah muah muah!

Comrade Qian Xiaoke, Merry Christmas. When you open the last gift later, don’t cry. Stay calm!

Clutching all five notes in his hand, Qian Xiaoke looked at Jiang Tongyan.

“Go on,” Jiang Tongyan said. “Open the last one.”

For no apparent reason, Jiang Tongyan felt nervous. His back was already slick with sweat.

Qian Xiaoke turned to look at the final box and asked, “What is it?”

As he spoke, he picked it up and carefully opened it.

The moment Qian Xiaoke opened the box, a ring flashed before his eyes.

At the same time, as if by magic, a bouquet of roses appeared in Jiang Tongyan’s hand. It set off his domineering CEO face so much that it even seemed to be tinged with red. He dropped to one knee and asked,

“Qian Xiaoke, would you be willing to marry me, this unsophisticated rich man?”

Chapter 56

Qian Xiaoke said he was unhappy, but the smile on his face never stopped.

Jiang Tongyan said, “You’re really something—getting the benefits and still acting coy.”

‘Boss’s wife’ Qian Xiaoke straightened up, put on a serious expression, and said, “No, I’m genuinely worried.”

“I can’t tell,” Jiang Tongyan said. “You look pretty happy to me.”

Qian Xiaoke was grinning so wide his gums were almost showing. He had already started planning how he would deal with everyone calling him ‘boss’s wife’ once he got to the office the next day.

       However, his expectations fell flat.

No one called him ‘boss’s wife’. Instead, several people crowded over and asked, “Xiaoke, how did you manage to win over Chairman Jiang?”

That immediately displeased Qian Xiaoke. “Why does it have to be me chasing him? Couldn’t he be the one chasing me?”

A coworker narrowed their eyes. “You are cute, sure, but someone like Chairman Jiang—a domineering CEO who’s seen the world—he must’ve seen plenty of cute people. Seems unlikely. Very unlikely.”

“Why is it unlikely?!” Qian Xiaoke pouted. “He was the one who chased me!”

After vaguely brushing off his coworkers, Qian Xiaoke sat there and began to reflect seriously on the development of his love story with Jiang Tongyan.

       Who had chased whom first?

Who had fallen for whom first?

Qian Xiaoke puffed his cheeks and held his chin to think about life, and then he was called into the office by Cheng Sen.

The office area upstairs had finished renovations and would be put into use after New Year’s Day. Cheng Sen had called Qian Xiaoke over to discuss a job transfer—from this floor to the one upstairs.

From working in front of Cheng Sen…to working in front of Jiang Tongyan.

To be honest, Cheng Sen was rather reluctant. Qian Xiaoke had worked here for many years and had always done well. He was diligent, reliable, and quick-witted, and he was extremely well-suited for the job. Handing such a capable employee over to Jiang Tongyan just like that felt a bit wasteful.

Still, reluctant or not, he had been the one to bring it up first. A man had to keep his word.

Cheng Sen said, “After New Year’s Day, the upstairs offices will officially be in use. Tongyan’s side is hiring new staff, and there’s no suitable candidate for the front desk.”

He then played a small tactical move. “I figured I would see what you want. If you’re willing, you can go upstairs and help him. If you feel it’s inconvenient, you can stay here.”

He took a sip of tea and said in a very official manner, “After all, you’re one of our company’s outstanding employees. Any position transfer should prioritise your own wishes.”

What Cheng Sen was thinking was: if Qian Xiaoke didn’t want to go, he could reasonably keep him.

But how could Qian Xiaoke possibly be unwilling?

After hearing Cheng Sen out, Qian Xiaoke put on an affected, shy act. “Oh, but Old Jiang and I… oh dear…”

“You don’t want to?” Cheng Sen saw hope. “Then—”

“No!” Qian Xiaoke hurried to explain. “I’m not unwilling at all. I just got shy for a moment.”

       Alright then.

Cheng Sen really should have expected this from the two of them.

“Okay, then it’s settled,” Cheng Sen said, reminding him, “But I still have to say this—although our company doesn’t prohibit office relationships, the two of you should… well, watch your boundaries.”

Cheng Sen was very serious when he said this.

Recently, he had noticed that the two of them were being a bit too clingy.

Jiang Tongyan was shameless enough to post intimate photos of the two of them on his Moments every day. At first, Cheng Sen had been puzzled—weren’t they supposed to be keeping things secret? Why was he posting photos so openly?

Only later did he learn that Jiang Tongyan had learned how to set up audience groups in Moments. Every time he posted, aside from himself and Qian Xiaoke, only two people could see them—Cheng Sen and Shen Huiming.

Childish. Extremely childish. He had never seen someone so childish at thirty years old.

Cheng Sen really wanted to complain—people like Jiang Tongyan deserved to be complained about for a thousand and one nights.

“Don’t worry, Chairman Cheng, really, don’t worry!” Qian Xiaoke raised his hand and swore to the heavens, making solemn promises. “We will absolutely control ourselves. Even though I’m a beauty, I will not be a femme fatale! Please rest assured!”

       A beauty?

       A femme fatale?

Cheng Sen looked at Qian Xiaoke and smiled faintly. “Alright. I’ll try.”

I’ll try to be reassured, but it’s not very promising.

Feeling extremely pleased, the so-called beauty turned femme fatale Qian Xiaoke returned to his seat and even began imagining various indecent scenarios of himself and Jiang Tongyan in different corners upstairs.

After finishing his daydream, Qian Xiaoke blushed and fell into self-reproach.

Qian Xiaoke, how could you think like that? You must love your job and respect your work. You absolutely cannot do such obscene, vulgar, shameful things in the workplace!

He took a deep breath and corrected his attitude.

After all, he was the boss’s wife now. He had to act like one.

       ==============

‘Boss’s wife’ Qian Xiaoke had a wonderful Christmas. While the other single coworkers went out for a group dinner, he went on a sweet date hand in hand with his boyfriend.

From the very beginning, the relationship between Jiang Tongyan and Qian Xiaoke had never followed the usual path. They had never really gone on a proper date, and Jiang Tongyan felt that simply wouldn’t do. If others had it, his Qian Xiaoke had to have it too. A cool, flashy, luxurious date—arrange it immediately.

Originally, Jiang Tongyan had planned to let Qian Xiaoke choose the restaurant, but then he suddenly realised that if he did, there was a good chance their Christmas would end up being spent in a snail noodle shop. He promptly abandoned the idea.

He would arrange this date and take Qian Xiaoke out to properly ‘see the world’.

So after work, Jiang Tongyan wrapped an arm around his ‘little darling wife’ and swaggered out of the office building, openly showing off their affection as if no one else existed.

Qian Xiaoke said, “Old Jiang, you know, here in China, when people are gay, they usually aren’t this open.”

“So what?” Jiang Tongyan shot him a sideways glance. “What does it have to do with me whether they’re open or not?”

Qian Xiaoke poked him. “I just mean people usually keep a low profile.”

“Then let them keep a low profile.” Standing by the roadside, Jiang Tongyan waved down a car. “I’ll be able to pick up my car the day after tomorrow. After that, we won’t have to take taxis to work every day.”

He raised an eyebrow at Qian Xiaoke and smiled. “The gas money gets reimbursed by Cheng Sen.”

Qian Xiaoke blinked. “Isn’t that kind of like fleecing the company?”

“I raised this sheep myself. What’s wrong with shearing a bit of wool?” Jiang Tongyan opened the car door and let him get in. “You need to start adjusting your mindset now.”

“What mindset?” Qian Xiaoke fell silent, calculating in his head. He felt this couldn’t go on forever. Ever since they got together, it seemed he had been constantly taking advantage of Jiang Tongyan.

Living in his rented apartment, using his car, and soon even taking a salary paid by him.

Qian Xiaoke understood that Jiang Tongyan did all this because he liked him, but he still felt uneasy accepting it so readily.

Since childhood, his parents had taught him not to owe others. Even in a romantic relationship, giving and receiving should be equal. Qian Xiaoke truly couldn’t accept all this with a clear conscience.

For days now, he had been thinking about what he could do to respond to Jiang Tongyan’s efforts.

       But he was honestly confused.

Jiang Tongyan was better than him in every way and lacked nothing. Aside from love, what else could he possibly give?

Qian Xiaoke felt incredibly foolish. He felt so foolish that he couldn’t even handle something like this, and it made him feel miserable.

“What are you thinking about?” Jiang Tongyan noticed his distraction and thought he might be hungry. “It’s not far. Hang in there a bit longer. Eat more later.”

Qian Xiaoke tilted his head to look at him and nodded heavily, full of worry.

Jiang Tongyan had been quite busy lately. The two of them rarely went out to eat. Even when they did, it was usually just a simple late-night snack at a small restaurant downstairs from their place.

He found it refreshing. Late at night, wrapped in coats, the two of them would run downstairs to eat a bowl of noodles. It felt full of everyday charm.

He realised that he had already adapted to Qian Xiaoke’s way of life—frugal, careful, treating everything and everyone seriously.

Growing up, Jiang Tongyan had always been extravagant with money. Having never lacked money, he had no real concept of ‘saving’. And precisely because of that, he rarely felt an intense desire for anything, because if he wanted something, he could easily get it.

After getting together with Qian Xiaoke, Jiang Tongyan felt that he had drawn closer to real life.

Still, after walking close to the ground for a while, he wanted to take the one he loved up into the sky for a bit.

Qian Xiaoke had taken Jiang Tongyan to ‘see the world’ in his own way, and Jiang Tongyan also wanted Qian Xiaoke to experience things he’d never experienced before.

He wanted to lay out everything good in front of Qian Xiaoke and let him choose freely.

Back when they had just gotten together, Jiang Tongyan had proudly said to him with his tail practically in the air, “Comrade Qian Xiaoke, you’ve now latched onto a rich man. You can spend freely. If there’s anything you’ve always wanted but couldn’t afford, say the word—this rich man will make your wish come true!”

But Qian Xiaoke’s response back then had shocked Jiang Tongyan so much that his jaw nearly dropped.

Qian Xiaoke had said, “I don’t want you to help me fulfil my wishes.”

At the time, Qian Xiaoke was naked, curled lazily in Jiang Tongyan’s arms. He yawned languidly like a little cat and snuggled closer.

       “Why?” Jiang Tongyan asked.

Poking Jiang Tongyan’s belly button, Qian Xiaoke said, “You’re not Santa Claus. I’m not with you to collect gifts or have my wishes granted.”

“I know,” Jiang Tongyan said. “I just feel like now that you have me, you can have whatever you want.”

Qian Xiaoke looked at him and smiled. “Nope.”

Smiling sweetly, Qian Xiaoke climbed onto Jiang Tongyan and pressed him down until Jiang Tongyan let out an ‘ow’.

Qian Xiaoke said, “You’re here to satisfy my desire for love, not my material desires. The things I want, I’ll work hard to earn myself. I don’t want to rely on you.”

Jiang Tongyan was a lover, not a tool for making wishes come true.

Qian Xiaoke was very clear about that.

Still, many things really couldn’t be avoided, simply because the gap between them in so many aspects was too wide.

At this moment, the two of them sat in the taxi as countless Santas passed by outside the window, handing out small gifts to pedestrians.

Qian Xiaoke said, “Oh right, I also prepared a gift for you.”

Jiang Tongyan was a little surprised. “Aren’t you the reindeer? Giving Christmas presents is Santa’s job.”

“The reindeer also wants to give his Santa a present!” Qian Xiaoke said. “I’ll give it to you when we get home tonight. You’re not allowed to dislike it!”

Jiang Tongyan smiled at him and pinched his little nose. “I’ll think about it and decide depending on the situation!”

Even though he said that, even if Qian Xiaoke only bought Jiang Tongyan a pair of three-yuan socks, Jiang Tongyan would treasure them like a priceless heirloom.

Love really did make people blind.

Chapter 55

Jiang Tongyan was enjoying his love life to the fullest, and after returning to the country, his career development was going quite smoothly as well.

The office had not even finished renovations yet, but several deals had already been closed. Everything was going so well that Jiang Tongyan was riding high, feeling full of confidence and already starting to plan how to spend Christmas with Qian Xiaoke.

For Qian Xiaoke, Christmas was really just an ordinary workday—at most, a bit more festive. The company would put up a Christmas tree in the lobby, and the boss would hand out big apples to everyone.

But for Jiang Tongyan, Christmas was a major occasion.

He was a kid who had grown up overseas. To him, Christmas was equivalent to the Spring Festival in China. It was something that had to be celebrated in a big way.

He started making preparations early, even hauling an enormous Christmas tree straight into Qian Xiaoke’s apartment.

Qian Xiaoke actually liked holidays too, but when he had been on his own before, he always kept things simple. The main reason was to save money. Now things were different. With Jiang Tongyan around, even if Qian Xiaoke wanted to save, his man would not allow it.

“This is the first holiday we’re celebrating together,” Jiang Tongyan said. “We can’t be careless about it.”

When he said this, he was in the middle of measuring Qian Xiaoke’s waist, hips, and head circumference.

He was being ridiculously extra. He insisted on having Santa Claus and reindeer costumes custom-made. Buying them online was not acceptable. As a wealthy man, Jiang Tongyan had high standards and strict demands when it came to life, so everything had to be custom.

Qian Xiaoke said, “Santa outfits are big and baggy, so you don’t need to measure so accurately.”

“Who told you you’re wearing Santa’s outfit?” Jiang Tongyan smiled faintly. “You’re the reindeer. The one I’m going to ride.”

       Nasty!

       Shameless!

Qian Xiaoke blushed and swung his little fist, lightly punching Jiang Tongyan in the chest.

Jiang Tongyan had far too many unspeakable thoughts. Who would have guessed that Boss Jiang, who looked so handsome, suave, and refined on the outside, actually had a head full of colour-coded, adults-only PowerPoint slides?

To satisfy his own twisted tastes, he even personally designed Qian Xiaoke’s reindeer costume.

Anywhere that should be exposed had to be exposed.

Cute and sexy—Qian Xiaoke deserved it.

The day before Christmas, the head of the administrative department went to Cheng Sen with a proposal: they could organise a dinner outing for single employees after work on Christmas Day.

At the time, Qian Xiaoke was helping Cheng Sen tidy up the tea set on the office coffee table. When he heard the supervisor say that, his hand jerked, and he nearly dropped one of Chairman Cheng’s teacups, each worth several thousand yuan.

Still shaken, Qian Xiaoke held the teacup with both hands and pricked up his ears, desperately hoping Chairman Cheng would disagree.

So far, Qian Xiaoke’s relationship with Jiang Tongyan was still a secret. Although he had always lived openly and honestly, Jiang Tongyan was different—he was a partner in the company, practically a boss. Qian Xiaoke worried that if everyone found out he was the ‘boss’s wife’, people would start keeping their distance from him.

Qian Xiaoke thought about a lot of things.

He was also a little embarrassed. Back when he and a few coworkers had agreed that whoever got into a relationship first would be a dog, yet he had gone and secretly gotten a boyfriend and such a fierce one at that. He was afraid that others would feel envious or jealous and end up under psychological pressure.

Of course, that last reason was entirely his own overthinking—pure self-directed drama when he had nothing better to do.

In any case, he simply was not ready to make the relationship public yet. He always felt the timing was not right.

Jiang Tongyan had been preparing for this Christmas for a long time. No matter what, Qian Xiaoke could not let his mighty Jiang be disappointed.

       Reject it!

       Please, Chairman Cheng—reject it!

“You decide how to arrange it,” Cheng Sen said. He had never been very enthusiastic about group employee activities. He felt that most people probably did not enjoy company gatherings anyway. Even if coworkers went out to eat together after work, they likely would not be able to relax truly. That said, as a boss, and knowing that collective activities were sometimes unavoidable, he could not be bothered to manage them. He left it to the admin team to handle, as long as they didn’t go overboard.

Hearing Cheng Sen say that, Qian Xiaoke internally collapsed. He felt like he had gone bald on the spot.

The head of the administrative department left with light, cheerful steps, leaving Qian Xiaoke behind to pack up the tea set with a deeply worried expression.

He had to come up with a proper excuse to turn down the event tomorrow night!

He absolutely could not go. Otherwise, his fierce boyfriend might blow up the entire apartment building.

Qian Xiaoke was anxious and racked his brain, but he could not come up with a reasonable excuse.

That evening after work, Jiang Tongyan was busy with business and had to work late. He messaged Qian Xiaoke, telling him to leave first and not wait for him.

But how could Qian Xiaoke not wait—especially at a time like this?

Qian Xiaoke stood at the front desk, watching his coworkers leave one by one, playing Candy Crush on his phone while waiting for Jiang Tongyan.

Jiang Tongyan had no idea Qian Xiaoke was still waiting outside. He and Cheng Sen discussed a project proposal until after eight in the evening.

By a little after eight o’clock, the entire floor was left with only the three of them.

Qian Xiaoke had used up all his energy in the Candy Crush game, and out of sheer boredom, he had no idea when he ended up slumped there and fell asleep.

After Jiang Tongyan finalised the plan with Cheng Sen, he prepared to leave. His delicate wife was waiting at home—there was no way he was going to keep wasting time with Cheng Sen.

When he stepped out, the motion-sensor lights in the hallway turned on. He had not expected anyone else to be there, and when he suddenly saw someone lying at the front desk, it startled him.

Qian Xiaoke was wearing his white down jacket, hood pulled up, sprawled there fast asleep, looking like a small cake that had just been baked.

Jiang Tongyan took a closer look and smiled, his heart growing warm and soft.

He walked over quietly and used his phone to secretly take a dozen photos of Qian Xiaoke. The guy was sleeping so soundly he was almost drooling—who knew what sweet dream he was having.

After taking the photos, Jiang Tongyan poked Qian Xiaoke’s cheek with his finger.

       Soft and plumper.

Ever since Qian Xiaoke had gotten together with Jiang Tongyan, his life had been carefree. He ate well every day and had gained weight straight from happiness.

But a chubbier Qian Xiaoke was even cuter. Every time Jiang Tongyan held him, it felt like hugging a fat little rabbit.

Of course, Jiang Tongyan dared not tell Qian Xiaoke that he had gotten fat. Ever since he found out he would be meeting Jiang Tongyan’s parents after New Year’s Day, he had been yelling nonstop about losing weight. If he took it seriously and stopped eating properly, the one who would worry would still be Jiang Tongyan.

When Jiang Tongyan poked him like that, the person sleeping there jolted awake.

Still half-asleep, Qian Xiaoke lifted his head and instinctively raised his hand to wipe his mouth.

Jiang Tongyan laughed at him. “Were you dreaming about me?”

       “Huh?”

“Was I in your dream also a feast for the eyes?”

       “Huh?”

“Look at how greedy you are. Come on, let’s go. Go home. Go home and your husband will satisfy you.”

       “Huh?”

Qian Xiaoke looked at him. He was too embarrassed to admit that he really had been dreaming—but there had been no Jiang Tongyan in the dream, only a gigantic piece of cheesecake.

“Don’t just stand there. It’s already past eight,” Jiang Tongyan said as he pulled his hand. “Let’s go. Eat first, then go home and have sex.”

“Sex again?” Qian Xiaoke stood up and obediently zipped up his down jacket.

“What do you mean by that?” Jiang Tongyan instantly became alert and glared at him. “Are you tired of me?”

He turned around and pinched Qian Xiaoke’s cheek. “You’re really a love scammer! We’ve only been together for how long? And you’re already bored?”

Qian Xiaoke did not feel any pain at all. He smiled like a little candy ball. “No, no. What I meant was, husband, your stamina is really amazing.”

Jiang Tongyan was pleased. He rubbed Qian Xiaoke’s face, picked up his small backpack, took his hand, and left.

Sometimes, the more you fear something, the more it happens.

Qian Xiaoke was still thinking about what excuse he should use tomorrow to get out of the group activity when he followed Jiang Tongyan into the elevator. The moment they stepped out of the company building, they ran straight into several coworkers.

Jiang Tongyan had long wanted to make their relationship public. He wanted to send a message in the company group saying “Thanks everyone, we’re together,” tag Qian Xiaoke, and even hand out red envelopes. He had been fully prepared. But Qian Xiaoke had always felt too shy, so it never happened.

In hindsight, it would have been better to tell everyone earlier.

Usually, the two of them did not walk too close after work. They would only take another side road before hailing a taxi together.

Jiang Tongyan’s house and car were still not settled yet, and he complained about it all the time, but Qian Xiaoke thought this was actually quite nice.

Because they left late that day and most coworkers were already gone, they had let their guard down and walked out holding hands. Who would have thought that a few coworkers—the most gossip-loving ones—had not gone straight home after work? They had gone to a small restaurant nearby to eat together, and just happened to come out at that moment, passing by the company on their way to the subway station.

       Several pairs of eyes met.

Qian Xiaoke’s soul left his body.

       Jiang Tongyan looked smug.

As for those coworkers, the flames of gossip burned fiercely in their eyes.

Was this a case of unspoken rules1being sugar baby?

       Or a proper, legitimate relationship?

Qian Xiaoke was impressive—Chairman Jiang had only been here for a short time and the two of them were already together!

They would have to learn from Qian Xiaoke’s flirting techniques. Maybe next month they could also land a rich partner!

After a moment of delicate silence, Jiang Tongyan calmly held Qian Xiaoke’s hand and walked over to greet everyone.

“You guys are still here this late?” he said, composed and unhurried.

Chairman Jiang truly lived up to the title. Even in a situation like this, he remained unfazed.

“Be careful on the way,” Jiang Tongyan said. “Xiaoke and I will head home first.”

       Xiaoke and I.

       Going home.

Qian Xiaoke lowered his head and pressed his lips together. He was so guilty that he did not dare look at his coworkers. He was dragged along by Jiang Tongyan straight into a taxi.

Once inside, Qian Xiaoke immediately sprawled across Jiang Tongyan’s lap.

“Oh no, oh no, we’re done for!” he whined. “How did we get found out?”

“So what if they found out?” Jiang Tongyan did not care. “They should have noticed long ago.”

This was good. At last, they did not need to keep up a secret relationship anymore.

“Let me ask you,” Jiang Tongyan said sourly, a little unhappy. “Do you think I’m something to be ashamed of? Is that why you’re always sneaking around?”

Qian Xiaoke lifted his head, clicked his tongue, and said, “You don’t understand.”

“How do I not understand?” Jiang Tongyan flicked his forehead. “Say it. I’m listening.”

Qian Xiaoke replied in a sticky, mumbled voice, “I was just worried.”

He let out a small ‘ah’ and flopped back onto Jiang Tongyan’s lap. “What if they find out about us and start calling me the boss’s wife every day? Wouldn’t that be so embarrassing?”

Chapter 50

Everything unfolded beyond Shen Liu’s expectations. Before he even had time to feel startled, the intense stimulation from the tip of his c0ck squeezing into that narrow entrance spread through his body like a snake slithering in all directions. He instinctively tensed his entire body and drew in a deep breath.

Shen Liu usually loved to play the rascal in daily life, yet in matters of intimacy, he was always gentlemanly, exceedingly attentive to Qin Mu’s feelings. Whenever Qin Mu showed any desire to take the lead, he would enthusiastically cooperate. When Qin Mu acted as the Dom, he possessed a unique kind of sensuality; merely holding a whip was enough to make Shen Liu’s blood boil. Tonight, he had intentionally planned to yield the initiative, even performing an enema and dilation while showering, but who could have known that Qin Mu would completely deviate from the script.

The ‘little rascal’ between Shen Liu’s legs was truly impressive when aroused, and even though Qin Mu had prepared in advance, it was still extremely difficult. His soft intestinal walls were gradually stretched open by the thick and hard c0ck, bringing a teeth-aching discomfort. The sensitive prostate received pressure, creating an unstoppable butterfly effect throughout his entire body. A tingling pleasure arose from it, like an uncontrollable electric current—drilling mischievously toward his groin on one path, making his erection swell even higher, and crawling upward along his spine like a gecko on another, coursing through his limbs and bones. Qin Mu’s legs lost their strength; he braced his hands on Shen Liu’s waist and began breathing rapidly.

In matters of passion, he was always restrained, rarely letting go so proactively like this; his movements were clumsy, almost like those of an adolescent boy. His furrowed brows as he endured, his trembling Adam’s apple, his heaving chest, the deliberately softened curve of his waist… The sight of an abstinent man breaking his restraints was no less than a potent aphrodisiac in Shen Liu’s eyes, causing him to become fully aroused beyond control. The erect c0ck between Shen Liu’s legs grew even thicker and more ferocious.

It had already been difficult to enter down there, and now it became even more challenging—truly a situation where one could neither advance nor retreat. Qin Mu could not help but emit a sound of pained endurance. That sound was different from usual; the moan mixed with gasps, making it ambiguously provocative. He grew embarrassed, his eyelashes trembling lightly, his face already burning red, and even the passage below tightened. Shen Liu, beneath him, was nearly brought to climax by this, enduring with extreme difficulty.

Once that tormenting c0ck was fully buried inside, sweat had already broken out on Qin Mu’s back. He rested for a good while before tentatively moving, lightly lifting and slowly lowering his hips, swaying his body back and forth, allowing the upright c0ck to thrust shallowly inside him.

Pleasure continued to layer upon itself, rising and falling like tides crashing against the flesh. The man actively offering himself before him wore a shy expression that contrasted fatally with the licentious movements of his body. It was like a finely detailed ink painting of an erotic scene—romantic and sensual, with every stroke at the brows and corners of his eyes exuding allure. Shen Liu smiled bitterly; in his mind at that moment, it seemed as though countless wild beasts were relentlessly battering their cages, roaring, craving, and venting their most primal desires—

       Not enough, still not enough…

He wanted to pin that man beneath him, to thrust vigorously into that soft, tight depth, to ravage him fiercely until he could not help but cry out…

But he could not. The rules of the game superseded everything; as the submissive party, he had to do his utmost to obey his master’s commands—he could not move, was not allowed to come, and was even forbidden from begging for mercy. Qin Mu held the sword over his vital point, leaving him in agonising torment yet utterly helpless.

In his entire life, Shen Liu had never submitted as a sub to anyone else; only Qin Mu could torment him like this. Yet he was willing because he knew that only in front of him would Qin Mu lower all defences and reveal his most genuine desires.

Lust surged and steamed between their two bodies. Qin Mu’s hip movements grew wider in amplitude; more than half the c0ck withdrew from his body before plunging back in, each time penetrating deeper than the last. The lubricant overflowing from the passage soaked the place where they joined, producing embarrassing sticky sounds amid the thrusting and stirring. He half-closed his eyes, tilting his head back slightly to gasp, the mist in his gaze flickering beneath the shadow of his lashes. The constantly stimulated prostate caused clear fluid to seep from the tip of his erect c0ck. Sweat trickled down along the lines of his muscles, dripping onto Shen Liu’s body.

The body’s pleasure brought ecstasy, while the forced endurance inflicted pain. Shen Liu no longer knew whether he was in heaven or hell at that moment; he could only tightly interlock his hands that were pinned beneath him, forcing himself to maintain the last shred of clarity amid the surging waves of desire. In their entanglement, Qin Mu suddenly lost balance and sat down hard; the rigid organ plunged fully into the depths, and both men let out a muffled groan simultaneously.

“Who permitted you to make a sound?” Qin Mu’s voice was somewhat hoarse. He stopped moving, deliberately clenching his buttocks, and trailed his fingers over Shen Liu’s firm chest, toying with his hardened nipples as he asked, “Do you want to cum?”

Shen Liu remained motionless, allowing the torment, his eyes tinged with suppressed red as he answered, “Yes, Master… I want it very much.”

       “Beg me.”

“Please grant it to me.” His gaze held desire, attachment, and devotion.

Qin Mu curved the corners of his lips, hooked the red cord around his neck, and tugged it. Shen Liu abruptly arched his waist and sat up. The two faced each other; the angle of penetration shifted with the movement. Qin Mu trembled, resting his forehead against Shen Liu’s as he panted, then undid the knot at his back, pulled out the cord, and tied a butterfly knot around his neck, saying, “You belong to me.”

Shen Liu gazed at his face as if entranced and repeated, “I will always belong to you, Master.”

Qin Mu closed his eyes briefly and said, “I’ll give you a chance to satisfy me. If not, you won’t be allowed to cum tonight.”

       The restraint was lifted.

The cage shattered into dust, and the frenzied beast of desire burst forth in full force.

Before the words “Yes, Master” could fully leave his lips, his mouth had already sealed over the other’s. Teeth and tongues entangled, saliva mingled; the actions were rough and unrestrained. His newly freed hands finally found their purpose—one wrapped around Qin Mu’s waist, the other cradling the back of his head.

The kiss deepened; it felt as though the air in their chests had been sucked dry. Qin Mu even felt dizzy from lack of oxygen. When their lips finally parted, he realised he had already been pressed beneath the other man.

Shen Liu leaned down, kissing along Qin Mu’s neck; the bell tinkled crisply, adding an ambiguous, erotic tone. He took the small bud on Qin Mu’s chest into his mouth, licking, biting, and sucking as he asked, “Does Master like it when his slave sucks here?”

Qin Mu was already deeply aroused and could not withstand such stimulation; his face flushed as he commanded in a low voice, “Enter me.”

“Does Master want me to enter from the front or from behind?” Shen Liu asked.

Qin Mu knew he was deliberately coaxing him into saying shameful things; embarrassed, he covered his eyes with his arm and said, “From the front.”

The man chuckled softly, pulled over two pillows to elevate Qin Mu’s hips, lowered his head to kiss the base of his thigh, and said, “Please, Master, spread your legs so this slave can thrust inside.”

Under his gaze, Qin Mu slowly parted his legs, closing his eyes in shame. Shen Liu knelt between them, grasped his ankles, and pulled his legs open to an even wider angle, deliberately exposing the wet entrance completely. He pressed his c0ck against the opening, feeling the light tremor of the man beneath him, and said softly, “Master’s little mouth down here is so beautiful; it makes one unable to resist filling it completely, fvcking it hard until it can’t close.”

“Shut up.” Qin Mu’s ears burned red; he gritted his teeth and said, “Hurry up…”

Before he could finish, the thick, scorching c0ck thrust in fiercely, plunging straight to the hilt without any gentleness. Qin Mu whimpered, arching his back and tensing his waist.

“Is that fast enough, Master?” Shen Liu savagely pounded into the warm passage, his movements growing heavier with each thrust. The desire that had accumulated for so long now surged like a flood breaching a dam, crashing through the walls of reason. The ferocious beast within him roared with red eyes, intent on devouring the beautiful body beneath him.

Such fierce assault was hard for Qin Mu to withstand; he instinctively clenched his rear passage, only to be stretched open again by the man’s savage thrusts. Pleasure whipped densely across his body like lashes, making him crave both life and death. He could only clutch the sheets beneath him tightly, like a survivor adrift at sea clinging to a lifeline, his uncontrollable moans taking on a sobbing tone as he curled his toes in agony.

For a time, overlapping gasps, the shaking bell’s tinkles, the sticky sounds of lubricant, and the sharp slaps of sac against buttocks mingled together, weaving a net of love and desire within the room that ensnared the two men tightly, inseparable.

“Does it feel good?” Shen Liu asked amid his vigorous movements, his voice even deeper and sexier when aroused. “Master looks so beautiful right now—should your slave fvck you even deeper?”

Qin Mu submitted without resistance to his invasion, his gaze falling upon him through hazy and watery eyes.

Their bodies intertwined, their gaze locked. In this moment of merging, their soul and flesh became one. Shen Liu clearly saw the emotion in Qin Mu’s eyes—it was an uncontrollable, unmasked, naked love. His heart trembled, and his movements softened instantly. He supported himself on his arms beside Qin Mu, leaned down to kiss his eyes and cheeks, and finally took his earlobe into his mouth, softly mimicking a cat’s meow.

“Master, I will always be your cat.”

Even if eroded by storms, ravaged by cannon fire, and having endured pain and hardship.

The Sphinx would forever stand guard here, generation after generation, protecting the Majesty Pharaoh and his sleeping soul.

His long-drifting heart seemed finally filled—heavy, solid, and warm. Qin Mu raised his arms to embrace his back, tilting his face up to kiss him.

This bout of lovemaking lasted a long while. When the two climaxed together, they felt each other’s heartbeats through their tightly pressed chests. One heart so close to another—like spotting a wisp of cooking smoke in a boundless desert, like seeing a fisherman’s light on a lonely sea, like hearing a distant echo from the starry universe—soothing the innate loneliness they were born with.

The next day, when the two woke, they were still embracing in sleep. Shen Liu kissed his forehead and said, “Sleep a bit more; I’ll go make breakfast.”

“When are you returning to J City?” Qin Mu asked.

“…” Shen Liu put on an aggrieved expression. “Wasn’t I attentive enough last night? You’re chasing me away first thing in the morning?”

Qin Mu leaned against the headboard and said, “I’m asking seriously. What are your plans going forward?”

Shen Liu poured him a glass of water and handed it over. “That depends on you.”

       Qin Mu looked at him.

“I said before that I want to live the life you want to live, and I truly meant it.” Shen Liu met his gaze. “So, Log, in the life you’ve imagined, is there a place for me?”

Qin Mu fell silent for a moment, then stood up, took something from the bedside drawer, and tossed it to him. Shen Liu caught it—it was a small velvet box containing a silver ring, its inner band engraved with the value of π and two English letters: S.L.

The ring was still very bright; it was clear its owner had kept it well preserved.

Shen Liu stared in stunned silence. The ring seemed to carry warmth, burning hot in his palm. He saw Qin Mu extend his hand toward him; his eyes suddenly grew hot. He slipped the ring onto Qin Mu’s ring finger and could not resist lowering his head to kiss it.

At that moment, something moved around his neck. Qin Mu snapped the red cord, removed the ring that had always hung there, and similarly placed it on his ring finger, kissing it lightly as he said, “The contract takes effect. From this moment on, I belong to you.”

In that instant, the car lights in the snowy night, their first kiss in the apartment, the heavy rain in Tingyun Town, the embrace in the secret room, the farewell under the small building… Countless past fragments scattered like snowflakes, blown by the wind, fluttering away toward the distant past. Amid the wind and snow, there seemed to be two small snowmen standing shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand.

This reunion had come too late, trapping them in lonely cages for far too long. Shen Liu’s eyes were red, his voice carrying a slight tremble, “I love you, Qin Mu. You are the person I’ve loved in this lifetime, the one I love now, and the one I will love forever.”

Qin Mu looked at this uncharacteristically emotional Shen Liu and glimpsed in a trance that ray of light from their youth that had once made his heart flutter. He smiled and said, “I know.”

       He knew.

       He had always known.

Many years ago, they had entrusted their true hearts to each other and grown apart across mountains and rivers. Many years later, upon reuniting, although their appearances had changed, and their positions had shifted, the hearts in their chests remained as fervently hot as in those days. Those feelings that could not be erased even across vast distances, those lingering attachments that persisted amid the entanglements of love and hate, those unspoken yet deeply hidden understandings—they were the inescapable fate and tribulation of this lifetime.

They had forged through thorns and thistles all the way, never submitting to destiny, unwilling to submit to power and desire, yet willingly surrendering to each other. The two hands wearing rings finally clasped together, like two incomplete circles that had found their own π, complete at last.

       I love you.

From this day forward, I will whisper these words of love to you for the rest of my life.

 [The End]

Chapter 49

Qin Mu symbolically ate less than half a bowl before setting his chopsticks down. He was not actually hungry; he had cooked it specifically for Shen Liu. Shen Liu understood this perfectly and ate with great relish.

Dongjing meowed from beneath the table. After Qin Mu lifted it up, it sniffed the bowl and promptly lost interest, lazily flopping down. When Qin Mu touched its paw, it pressed its soft pads against his fingers. One person and one cat went back and forth, clearly enjoying themselves.

Shen Liu watched them through the rising steam and felt his whole heart warm through. Even his pulse seemed livelier, and without realising it, the corners of his lips lifted.

Seeing that he had stopped eating, Qin Mu said, “If you don’t want any more, just leave it.”

“I do. It’s ridiculously good,” Shen Liu said, stuffing a big mouthful in. It was a bit hot, and he hurriedly puffed cool air through his mouth.

Qin Mu leisurely stroked the cat while Shen Liu buried his head and finished the bowl down to the last drop. Satisfied, he let out a sigh and said, “You go rest. I’ll wash up.” Qin Mu did not push and let him do it. After feeding the cats, he picked a movie and sat on the sofa to watch.

Shen Liu tidied up the kitchen and then sat down beside him, naturally resting an arm along the back of the sofa.

The posture looked as though he were holding him. Qin Mu kept his eyes on the screen and did not move.

It was a science fiction film. The interstellar scenes were spectacular, and although the male lead wore heavy special-effects makeup, his eyes were extremely expressive.

“This is… Zhuo Yue?” Shen Liu only recognised him after watching for a while.

“Yes,” Qin Mu said. “Fang Mingyan directed the film. He invited me to the premiere, but I was too busy at the time to go.”

“I didn’t expect him to shoot this kind of genre. Did it do well at the box office?”

“Pretty well. It even won awards overseas.”

They watched until the scene where the male lead was about to go into battle and kissed the female lead goodbye aboard the spacecraft. Shen Liu clicked his tongue. “Director Fang really knows the rules. The romance comes in fast. Doesn’t he get jealous of letting Zhuo Yue film kissing scenes?”

“According to him, his professional ethics are so strong that jealousy is impossible. According to Zhuo Yue, after filming that scene, he was tormented so badly he could barely get out of bed. As for whose version is more credible, you can judge for yourself,” Qin Mu replied.

Shen Liu laughed and said with evident experience, “Not getting jealous sounds easy, but it’s hard actually to pull off.”

Qin Mu shot him a sideways glance. “Like you could say anything about it.”

Shen Liu burst out laughing. “Oh no, you’ve got my weakness covered. You’ll laugh at me for a lifetime.”

       He said ‘a lifetime.’

Qin Mu’s gaze flickered, but he did not respond.

The room fell quiet. The two of them sat side by side watching the movie. Once the space battle began, the pacing quickened. Qin Mu was watching intently when he suddenly felt a faint itch in his ear. It turned out that someone, bored, was secretly teasing his earlobe with fingers looped around from behind.

       Once.

       Twice.

       Three times.

Unable to take it any longer, Qin Mu turned to look at him.

Shen Liu stared solemnly at the screen, as if the mischievous hand had nothing to do with him. Feeling Qin Mu’s gaze, the smile at his lips deepened, carrying the childish triumph of getting his way. “Am I more interesting than the movie?”

“How old are you, still playing such childish tricks?” Qin Mu said disdainfully.

Shen Liu smiled at him, then suddenly looked toward the dining area in surprise. “Beiwei is fishing the goldfish again.”

       Qin Mu turned to look.

The fish tank sat perfectly intact on the dining table. There was not a cat in sight.

Puzzled, he turned back—straight into Shen Liu’s closing face.

Their noses brushed. The light, clean scent of Darjeeling tea quietly enveloped him, leaving him momentarily dazed.

In that brief pause, the warm lips brushed lightly against his cheek. Shen Liu’s eyes were full of sly amusement as he teased him back. “How old are you? Still falling for something this childish?”

Heat crept uncontrollably up the back of Qin Mu’s ears. He stiffened his face and said, “Are you asking for a beating?”

“Yes.” Shen Liu pushed his luck, tilting his head to kiss along the side of his neck. His low voice grew thick with sticky ambiguity. “Whenever you want to lay a hand on me, I can strip naked and lie down anytime, letting you do whatever you want…” His voice grew softer and softer. His breath, along with the faint, almost imperceptible contact between their skin, turned into a subtle but undeniable tingling that slid down the spine like a slowly burning fuse leading toward some dangerous territory.

Qin Mu felt his throat tighten and tilted his head slightly away. The other man refused to let him go. His tongue teasingly curled against Qin Mu’s earlobe, holding it for several seconds before he said softly, “I’ve been so well-behaved lately. Doesn’t Master want to reward me with something?”

Qin Mu quietly drew a deep breath and lowered his lashes. “Go take a shower.”

       Shen Liu chuckled softly. “Alright.”

Qin Mu’s apartment was quite spacious, with both the living room and the master bedroom having their own bathrooms. When Shen Liu finished showering and came out, he saw Qin Mu in the bedroom drying his hair, clearly having bathed as well.

Qin Mu wore loose cotton sleepwear, looking relaxed and at ease. His hair hung damply, and he was not wearing his glasses. In the slightly dim lighting, he looked exactly as he had back then, and the sight made Shen Liu momentarily drift back into old memories—back when Qin Mu was still young, bullied by classmates and seen by him in that state. Shame and grievance had mixed together, and he had been unable to hold back his tears. Yet after nothing more than a shower, he had calmed down, displaying a maturity that made one’s heart ache. Shen Liu had never personally gotten into a fight before; that time had been his first exception. In a foul mood, he had struck hard, beating those handsy little bastards soundly, and had taken several hits himself as well. Afterwards, he had endured the pain and pretended nothing was wrong, playing the hero in front of the kid. Thinking back on it now, it had been truly foolish.

But he did not regret it in the slightest.

Being able to fight once for Qin Mu in this lifetime had been worth it.

Seeing the expression on his face, Qin Mu asked, “What are you smiling about?”

“Thinking about the past. You were especially cute back then. You would cry in front of me.”

Hearing him bring up old matters, a faint redness crept up behind Qin Mu’s ears. He hung the towel aside and sat down at the edge of the bed.

Shen Liu pulled off the bath towel dr4p3d over him and stood half-naked in front of Qin Mu. Beads of water still clung to his body, slowly sliding along the rise and fall of firm muscles and disappearing into the line of his waist. Qin Mu’s gaze was drawn to him, and it was not until his chin was tipped up and he met those deep, dark eyes that he came back to himself.

Shen Liu forced him to lift his face and meet his gaze, his voice carrying a provocative ambiguity. “You’re even cuter now. Makes me want to make you cry.”

Qin Mu’s Adam’s apple moved slightly. In the next moment, his fingers hooked the red cord around Shen Liu’s neck and pulled with a bit of force, making the other man bend down closer.

Their gazes met, like a silent standoff.

He spoke lightly, “In my place, a cat that casually lays its claws on its owner gets punished.”

Shen Liu curved his lips into a smile, withdrew his hand, and slowly knelt down between his legs. The undercurrents in his eyes were like countless wandering spirits in the night, hiding threads of obsession that tangled without end. “I like everything Master gives me.”

Positions shifted, perspectives reversed. They still shared an unspoken coordination. Between looking down and looking up, they confirmed each other’s roles and opened the night’s secret game of sex and desire.

Qin Mu released the red cord and ordered, “Go to the bottom drawer of the wardrobe, pick a rope you like, and bring it back in your mouth.”

“Yes, Master.” Without permission to stand, Shen Liu crawled over using both hands and knees, like a docile large cat.

What he brought back was a thick red hemp rope, about a meter long, with small golden bells tied to both ends. With the slightest movement, they chimed softly.

“Stand up with your back to me, hands behind you.” Qin Mu’s commands were always concise and clear. He crossed Shen Liu’s wrists behind his back and bound them, but only tied a very loose slipknot. “If the rope comes loose, thirty lashes.”

This kind of binding imposed more psychological restraint than practical effect. Its essence was to require the slave to maintain constant self-restraint, keeping the hands under control with no large movements. Shen Liu understood this well. With his hands crossed and gripping his own wrists, he knelt again. “Yes, Master.”

His kneeling posture was precise and beautiful. Whether in muscle lines or bodily form, it was pleasing to the eye. When such a man submitted beneath one’s feet, becoming a private plaything to be ravaged at will, it could stir almost every Dom’s deepest desires. Qin Mu was no exception. This time, he did not deliberately restrain himself and said in a low voice, “Slave, please me.”

With his hands bound, the available methods were obvious. Shen Liu moved on his knees between Qin Mu’s legs, lightly biting and tugging down the edges of his pyjama pants and underwear, then tilting his head to lightly lick Qin Mu’s c0ck. The warm, soft, sensitive touch made Qin Mu draw in a sharp breath and close his eyes.

Aside from Qin Mu, Shen Liu had never performed oral sex for anyone else. He slowed his pace, caring for every inch of Qin Mu’s most private places with the meticulous attention of a cat licking its food. His lips and tongue licked the small opening at the tip, sucked at the soft sac, kissed the dense hair at the base, and then took the hardened length into his mouth.

The sensation was too intense. Qin Mu’s face flushed as he braced himself with his hands and leaned back slightly. This reaction made the man below him grow even more attentive. He deliberately grazed the coronal ridge with the tips of his teeth, pressed his tongue against the vulnerable opening and rubbed repeatedly, drawing Qin Mu’s breathing faster and faster. Suddenly, most of his c0ck was taken into the hot, wet mouth, and the tip was thrust deep into the throat. An almost overwhelming pleasure erupted with the pressure of repeated swallowing. Qin Mu groaned uncontrollably. His fingers buried themselves in Shen Liu’s hair and pulled back. “Enough. Stop.”

Deep-throating could easily cause throat pressure and difficulty breathing. After withdrawing, Shen Liu coughed lightly. Knowing that Qin Mu was worried he would endure discomfort, he smiled and asked, “Doesn’t Master want to feed me some more?”

“Did I allow you to speak?” Qin Mu lifted his foot and kicked him punitively between the legs. His bare toes, through the underwear, tormented the soft sac and shaft. Shen Liu’s c0ck had been hard since Qin Mu started panting, and now the teasing hurt so much that he could only obediently admit his fault. “I was wrong, Master.”

       “Lie down on the bed.”

Shen Liu lay on his back. Qin Mu had already removed his clothes. He worked out regularly, his physique flawless, and paired with that calm, restrained face, he was all the more stirring.

The link between flesh and desire stemmed from human instinct—primitive and rough, yet impossible to escape. Just looking at Qin Mu naked made Shen Liu feel unbearably hard.

Qin Mu spread his legs and straddled him. He squeezed lubricant onto Shen Liu’s fully erect c0ck, and said, “Without my command, you’re not allowed to move, not allowed to make a sound, and not allowed to ejaculate.” Then he lowered his waist, aligned the fierce tip with his own hidden entrance, and slowly sat down.

Chapter 54

Ever since Qian Xiaoke started dating Jiang Tongyan, their sense of shame seemed to be completely eaten by dogs. They were sticky and cloying, utterly shameless, and the things they said when chatting were frankly unbearable to hear.

To avoid any ‘accidents’, Qian Xiaoke had sternly ordered Jiang Tongyan not to talk to him at the company.

But rules were rules, and outstanding young people of the modern age had never been known for obeying them.

Jiang Tongyan went to the company after having sex at home. Whenever he had nothing to do and passed by Qian Xiaoke’s front desk, he did not care whether there were people around and would openly throw him flirtatious looks.

They had only been dating for half a month, yet rumours were already spreading like wildfire.

For example: the newly arrived Chairman Jiang seemed to flirt with Qian Xiaoke every single day, but their Xiaoke did not fall for it at all—his heart belonged solely to work!

For example: the newly arrived Chairman Jiang seemed to be trying to have a hidden relationship with Qian Xiaoke, but their Xiaoke had principles and had never agreed!

And another example: the newly arrived Chairman Jiang seemed so hungry for Qian Xiaoke’s body that he could hardly contain himself, even wanting to transfer Xiaoke upstairs to be a front-desk receptionist there—and this time, Xiaoke had agreed!

Qian Xiaoke was someone who was very slow on the uptake in this regard, and it was not really his fault. When people gossiped about him, they were definitely going to avoid the person involved. By the time Qian Xiaoke had muddleheadedly become the centre of company gossip, he himself still knew nothing about it.

He continued to bounce around every day, dutiful and devoted to his post. When Cheng Sen told him that after New Year’s Day, he would be going upstairs to work, he pretended to be coy and shot a few reproachful looks at Jiang Tongyan for abusing public power for private gain, then happily agreed.

When no one else was around, Qian Xiaoke and Jiang Tongyan stood in the pantry, each holding a small teacup as they filled it with water to drink.

Qian Xiaoke wanted to laugh, but still had to put on a reluctantly troubled expression. “How can you be like this? You can’t do this anymore. It really puts me in a difficult position.”

Jiang Tongyan laughed at him. “What’s so difficult for you?”

Qian Xiaoke pursed his lips, then glanced around furtively to make sure no one else was nearby before answering him. “Wanting to have sex with you in your office but not being able to—that’s what’s difficult for me!”

Jiang Tongyan had finally realized that Qian Xiaoke was not pure at all.

If anyone ever said Qian Xiaoke was pure again, he would kill them on the spot.

That said, he liked Qian Xiaoke exactly like this.

No, that was not quite right. To be precise, no matter what kind of Qian Xiaoke he was, Jiang Tongyan liked him so much it was practically life or death.

       Pathetic.

He did not look anything like a domineering CEO at all.

“No need to feel conflicted,” Jiang Tongyan deliberately teased him. “I absolutely won’t have sex with you in the office.”

As soon as Qian Xiaoke heard that, he was unhappy. He rolled his eyes, turned around, and left, and did not pay any attention to Jiang Tongyan all the way until they got home after work.

Qian Xiaoke might be small, but his temper was not.

Still, ‘throwing a tantrum’ was one thing. After getting home, Qian Xiaoke changed clothes and went straight into the kitchen, opened the cooking app, and tied on an apron printed with Sailor Moon.

       Jiang Tongyan sidled over. “Baby.”

       Qian Xiaoke snorted. “Hmph!”

       Jiang Tongyan smiled ingratiatingly. “Bao-bao.”

       Qian Xiaoke snorted again. “Hmph!”

Jiang Tongyan went straight over, wrapped his arms around him, and shook him. “Wife, wife, wife, can I have a kiss, mwah mwah mwah.”

Qian Xiaoke got goosebumps all over from how cheesy it was.

“What are you doing?” Qian Xiaoke pushed him away. “Are you crazy?”

“Cheng Sen taught me,” Jiang Tongyan said very seriously. “This afternoon I told him I would made you angry, and he said comforting someone like this works amazingly well.”

Qian Xiaoke rolled his eyes and pushed the person clinging to him again. “Stop learning this stuff!”

“It’s so cheesy it can kill people,” Qian Xiaoke said.

Even though Qian Xiaoke himself was a little monster who went crazy saying cheesy things once he was in love, he really could not stand Jiang Tongyan being like this—so tacky and so stupid. Absolutely not acceptable.

“So you’re not angry anymore?” Jiang Tongyan asked.

Qian Xiaoke curled his lips, muttering while preparing the ingredients. “Actually, I wasn’t angry to begin with.”

He had just been deliberately messing with him.

Commonly known as throwing a tantrum for no reason.

It could also be called having nothing better to do.

“Not angry?” Jiang Tongyan poked his butt cheek. “Doesn’t seem like it. When I wanted to walk home with you after work, you didn’t even acknowledge me.”

Just because Qian Xiaoke ignored him, and because Jiang Tongyan could not bear to let Qian Xiaoke walk home alone, the end result was that the two of them ended up squeezing onto the subway again.

On the subway, Jiang Tongyan kept edging closer to Qian Xiaoke. As it happened, there was a strange guy who insisted on wedging himself right between them, and from time to time he even sent covert flirtatious glances toward Jiang Tongyan.

Of course, Jiang Tongyan did not receive any of those signals at all. His entire attention was fixed on Qian Xiaoke—he kept stretching his neck to look at him. However, that guy’s behavior did not escape Qian Xiaoke’s notice, and Qian Xiaoke muttered to himself: Stop dreaming—this man is my husband!

Qian Xiaoke was the classic type who completely failed to perform in the heat of an argument and started to reflect after quarreling with others. So it was not until he and Jiang Tongyan had already exited the subway that he regretfully thought: back on the subway, he should have kissed Jiang Tongyan passionately right in front of that little vixen!

Forget it. This time counted as that guy being lucky. If they ran into each other again on the subway, Qian Xiaoke would absolutely let him know what a French wet kiss was!

That was what Qian Xiaoke thought. Whether he could actually do it was another matter—thinking it through felt great anyway.

Jiang Tongyan rested his chin on Qian Xiaoke’s shoulder. “You were angry.”

“I wasn’t,” Qian Xiaoke said, pouting as he started cooking. “I’m very understanding.”

       He really was quite understanding.

Jiang Tongyan laughed. “Right. Not only are you understanding, but you also know how to add a little spice to life.”

“Huh? What do you mean?” Qian Xiaoke did not understand at all, thinking: What spice did I add to life?

“This right here is spice,” Jiang Tongyan said, and suddenly pulled Qian Xiaoke into his arms and kissed him hard. The big potato in Qian Xiaoke’s hand rolled straight onto the floor.

The scene was extremely like an idol drama.

Though in the dramas, typically the leads were not usually peeling potatoes at moments like this. What they held were rosy little apples.

Held in Jiang Tongyan’s arms and kissed until he felt light-headed, Qian Xiaoke lost all other thoughts.

He realised that he was really far too easy to subdue.

       One good meal.

       A few sweet words.

       A kiss.

Or a completely shameless round of sex.

When Jiang Tongyan finally let him go, Qian Xiaoke tilted up his small face and said, “I really wasn’t angry today. I was just messing with you.”

“I could tell,” Jiang Tongyan said. Of course he could tell; he was not an idiot.

If he really counted it up, the two of them had not known each other for very long. Excluding that period when they were ‘online hook-up buddies’, the time they had actually spent together was even shorter.

But Jiang Tongyan felt that he had already seen Qian Xiaoke through.

Qian Xiaoke was actually a very simple person—simple and optimistic. He did not overthink things, had no scheming thoughts, and although he could be a bit slow at times, he was not stupid. He was the adorably clumsy type.

He did not easily get angry over a few joking words, not because Qian Xiaoke had an exceptionally good temper, but because he had a genuinely good nature.

The most precious parts of his personality were probably his optimism, positivity, and kind sincerity.

Jiang Tongyan both liked him and admired him deeply.

Jiang Tongyan kissed his cheek. “If I couldn’t even tell what you’re thinking, I really wouldn’t be fit to be your husband.”

Qian Xiaoke pursed his lips. Even as he did, there was a smile hidden in his eyes.

“So annoying!” Qian Xiaoke reached out. “Go—pick up the potato for me. Wash it clean. Peel it.”

“Yes, Your Majesty!” Jiang Tongyan briskly picked up the potato and went to the sink. As he washed it, he asked, “If you’re going to peel it anyway, why do you still need to wash it first?”

       “Because I’m a clean freak!”

Jiang Tongyan laughed. “Alright, you really do pick things up fast when it comes to this stuff!”

In a great mood thanks to his outstanding learning ability, Qian Xiaoke decided to add a little extra meat to Jiang Tongyan’s dinner that night.

“Oh right, there’s something I want to ask you,” Qian Xiaoke said as he sliced the meat. “If one day I made you angry, how would I have to comfort you for you to stop being mad?”

“Me? Angry?” Jiang Tongyan scoffed. “Am I an idiot? Why would I get mad at you?”

That answer made Qian Xiaoke happy, but he still pressed on. “What if, though? Teach me in advance, so I don’t panic when it happens.”

Qian Xiaoke was very earnest. “You know my brain doesn’t work that well. I’m afraid I wouldn’t calm you down and would end up messing things up even more.”

Jiang Tongyan glanced at him and smiled. “You really don’t need to worry about that. I’m not someone who likes to get angry in the first place.”

He finished washing the potato and carefully began peeling it.

“If something comes up between us, we can just talk it through properly,” Jiang Tongyan said. “Why insist on getting mad? Sulking doesn’t solve anything, and it hurts the relationship between the two of us.”

       Qian Xiaoke nodded in agreement.

       “I’m even more curious now.”

“What are you curious about this time?” Jiang Tongyan said to him. “Read fewer web novels when you’ve got nothing to do. Those melodramatic tropes aren’t going to happen in our home. Don’t keep imagining things and adding extra drama for yourself.”

“Hehehe,” Qian Xiaoke had been called out and lowered his head with an embarrassed smile. “They’re fun to read.”

“Fun?” Jiang Tongyan looked completely baffled. “That day, I just went to the bathroom for a moment. When I came out, you were holding your phone, crying over a novel like your husband had died. You scared me so badly I almost knelt down on the spot. And you’re telling me that’s fun?”

Qian Xiaoke pressed his lips together and smiled. “Hey! Don’t change the subject!”

He looked at Jiang Tongyan and nudged his arm with his elbow. “How about you tell me what situation would actually make you angry? I’ll behave myself and avoid stepping on your landmines.”

Jiang Tongyan blurted out instinctively, “No matter what you do to me, I wouldn’t get angry with you.”

But after saying it, he felt the answer might be a little careless. He thought about it seriously and suddenly straightened his expression.

“There really is one,” Jiang Tongyan said, suddenly turning serious.

“What?” Qian Xiaoke perked up. “Tell me.”

As he continued peeling the potato, Jiang Tongyan said very earnestly, “If you stopped loving me, I would be very angry.”

Qian Xiaoke froze. He had not expected Jiang Tongyan to say that.

“But I guess it wouldn’t really be anger at you,” Jiang Tongyan continued, keeping his head down as he peeled. “I would probably be more angry at myself.”

“Wh… why?” Qian Xiaoke’s voice was soft and careful, as though he were holding Jiang Tongyan’s heart in his hands, afraid of startling it or dropping it.

Jiang Tongyan thought for a moment and curled his lips. “Do we really have to take the sentimental route?”

“Yeah, stir it up a little. Go on, I want to hear it.”

Jiang Tongyan accepted the order and obediently went full sentimental.

“Because I would feel that if one day you stopped loving me, it would have to be because I hadn’t done well enough—because I hadn’t made you feel my love, and that was why you wanted to leave me.” Jiang Tongyan pursed his lips. “I have to eliminate the possibility of that ever happening.”

He looked at Qian Xiaoke. “Wife, come here and give me a kiss. Right now, immediately—feel your husband’s blazing love for you!”

Qian Xiaoke laughed, put down the knife, and pounced on Jiang Tongyan. The two of them stopped cooking altogether and kissed in the kitchen, sticky-sweet and shamelessly affectionate.

When Jiang Tongyan said those words earlier, he had deliberately used a joking tone, but Qian Xiaoke knew that he was being completely serious.

This version of Jiang Tongyan made it impossible for Qian Xiaoke not to love him.

Qian Xiaoke even felt that while Jiang Tongyan was speaking, he could see his heart beating, and right in the centre of that heart were three words written clearly—Qian Xiaoke.

       He was deeply moved.

As Qian Xiaoke kissed Jiang Tongyan, he decided that later he would have another commemorative banner custom-made for him. This time it would read:

China’s Most Touching Boyfriend — The Peerless Mighty Top, Jiang Tongyan!

Chapter 48

The next day, Qin Mu woke up a little late. Even though his expression appeared calm, traces of embarrassment inevitably showed through in the small details. Shen Liu understood perfectly well and, to spare him any awkwardness, did not mention a single word about what had happened the night before.

Qin Mu quietly let out a sigh of relief. He had never known how to define the relationship between the two of them. Over so many years, he had long grown accustomed to living alone. His work and daily life were orderly, his social interactions proper and regulated. Everyone had been placed by him in an appropriate position, with clear boundaries and a measured distance. Shen Liu alone was the exception.

Rationally, he knew he should not allow this ambiguity to continue. When it was time to cut things off, he should do so decisively. Yet when it truly came to that point, he found he could not bring himself to act. When he should have been calm, he could not help but lash out at that man. When he should not have wavered, he instead softened again and again. The bottom lines he had drawn were revised repeatedly, until in the end even he himself no longer knew which one he was supposed to hold fast to. All he could do was play deaf and blind, tacitly allowing Shen Liu to draw closer time after time.

Shen Liu was not in a hurry. He knew that Qin Mu had not yet figured things out. The entanglements of gratitude and resentment, love and hatred between them could not be explained clearly in a few words, nor could the knots in one’s heart be erased with a single stroke in just a few days. He was very satisfied with the current state of affairs. It was like a stubborn traveller braving a sky full of yellow sand in search of the lone city from his memories—he had walked too far and searched for too long, and the moment he finally glimpsed the city walls, he was so happy he was nearly driven mad. That magnificent spectacle from ten years ago, when the entire city bloomed like a dream, had only taken a single glance to bind him with longing for a lifetime. He was willing to wait. When it came to Qin Mu, he had always possessed more than enough patience.

Thus, the two of them tacitly used ‘letting things take their natural course’ as a pretext, maintaining this vague yet delicate relationship. They lived together, slept in the same bed, exchanged familiar jokes, and had even shared certain special ‘interactions’, yet they strictly adhered to an unspoken boundary. With mutual understanding, they avoided explaining the current situation, did not interfere in each other’s private affairs, did not force the other to make changes, and did not rush to take things further. It was like two neighbouring countries on friendly terms; they benefited each other through exchanges, yet each retained complete sovereignty and refrained from interference. This was not their first time living together. They were well acquainted with each other’s habits, and getting along felt entirely natural. Only one thing was slightly awkward—Qin Mu had another sub.

Some time ago, Lu Cheng had been busy dealing with matters at the medicinal herb base. Now that things had been resolved, he took the initiative to invite Qin Mu out. When Qin Mu received the message, he was sitting in the car Shen Liu was driving to take him home. He deliberated for quite a while before finally speaking. “Shen Liu.”

“Hm? Have you decided what to eat tonight?” Shen Liu asked while driving. He had been staying for over half a month. He had not only figured out every street and alley in K City but also memorised a wide range of distinctive restaurants, bars, and cinemas, making him more useful than a navigation app. “I heard from the young lady at your front desk that a new Thai restaurant just opened on Fuxing Road. The environment is nice too. Interested?”

“Lu Cheng asked me to have dinner, and I agreed.”

Shen Liu froze slightly at the words and fell silent for a few seconds. He then said naturally, “Alright. Where are you meeting? I’ll drop you off.”

       “Beishan Street intersection.”

The car turned right at the junction. Shen Liu stopped at the zebra crossing to wait for an elderly person with mobility issues to cross before slowly starting again. “Is it a Spanish restaurant?”

       “Yes.”

“I think I’ve seen it before. That place has pretty good ratings. Try it first, and if it’s good, remember to take me there next time.”

“Alright.” Qin Mu agreed, then thought for a moment and asked, “What will you eat tonight?”

Shen Liu laughed. “Are you worried I’ll go hungry?”

Qin Mu glanced at him and said nothing.

When they reached the destination, Shen Liu asked, “Do you need me to pick you up later?”

       “No.”

“Okay. You probably won’t be back very early, so I’ll make my own arrangements.” Shen Liu bid him farewell with a smile, not forgetting to add, “Have fun.”

       Qin Mu: “……”

Between the two of them, that kind of well-wishing sounded awkward no matter how he listened to it.

The restaurant was called Moustache. The servers were all international students from nearby universities. Their Chinese was somewhat halting, but they were extremely enthusiastic. The ingredients were carefully chosen, the plating refined, and the flavours were very good. This was the first time Qin Mu had agreed to meet him in a public place. Lu Cheng was especially happy and ordered a table full of dishes.

Qin Mu seemed different from their previous meetings today. He appeared very relaxed. Two buttons of his shirt collar were undone, and he sat with one arm casually resting on the edge of the table. Perhaps it was the angle, but Lu Cheng felt that even the light in his eyes had softened, making him appear even more alluring. Unable to resist, he called out softly, “Master.”

“In public places, you can just call me by my name,” Qin Mu said.

Call him by his name directly.

Lu Cheng suddenly felt inexplicably excited. He carefully drafted what he wanted to say in his head several times. When he finally spoke, his voice unconsciously softened. “Qin Mu.”

The man curved his lips slightly, cut the braised beef tongue in front of him into neat pieces, and passed the plate over.

“Thank you, Mas…Sir.” Lu Cheng felt flattered and overwhelmed. He still could not quite make the turn in his head and awkwardly corrected himself mid-sentence. He pushed the salad plate over. “This Iberian ham is pretty good. You should try it.”

“Alright.” Qin Mu tasted a piece. The meat was fresh and tender, melting in the mouth, and paired with arugula and vinaigrette, it tasted light and refreshing.

They discussed the renovation project at the medicinal herb base, the future prospects of the traditional Chinese medicine industry, and several business cases and disputes. During the conversation, Qin Mu’s extensive knowledge, incisive thinking, and measured yet engaging way of speaking utterly captivated Lu Cheng.

After dessert had been served, Qin Mu set down his fork and said, “Our contractual relationship has lasted about a year and a half now. I’d like to hear your thoughts.”

“To me, you’re a perfect Dom,” Lu Cheng answered sincerely.

Qin Mu smiled. “Perfection is only a surface impression. In a scene, a Dom needs to take control of everything, so what I’ve shown you has always been a strong and composed side. In reality, I’m not always like that. I also have moments of hesitation and emotional impulsiveness.”

This was the second time he smiled that evening. Lu Cheng found it hard to look away, like a poor scholar whose soul had been stolen by a spirit. Acting on impulse, he blurted out his true feelings. “I want to understand every side of you. If you’re willing to give me a chance… I mean, I really like you.”

Qin Mu had not expected a confession at this moment and was slightly taken aback. Over the years, he had handled many situations like this, and his response was composed and solemn. “I’m very sorry, but I can’t reciprocate your feelings. I accepted you as a sub because of Fang Mingyan’s commission, and the contract clearly states that our relationship does not involve private emotions. According to the agreement, either of us may terminate this relationship at any time…”

“I take back what I just said.” Lu Cheng panicked when he heard this and spoke with a hint of pleading. “I’ve never interfered with your private life, nor have I done anything that crossed the line. What I said just now was a moment of impulsiveness and poor judgment. Please forgive me.”

“Lu Cheng, my decision to end the relationship isn’t because you haven’t done well. It’s simply due to some personal reasons.” Qin Mu’s tone was very gentle. “I hope you understand that a good emotional relationship should be one of equality. There shouldn’t be one person who is always dominant and another who is always subservient. You’re very good—whether in terms of personality, appearance, or ability, you’re someone worthy of being loved. Don’t keep compromising yourself for the sake of others.”

Lu Cheng froze. A flood of emotions surged up inside him, impossible to suppress without losing control elsewhere. His eyes reddened as he lowered his head, steadying himself for quite a while before speaking. “I know I shouldn’t ask, but I can’t help it… Is your personal reason that the person called Shen Liu?”

Qin Mu fell silent for a moment, then answered, “Yes.”

“In your heart, I can’t compare to him.”

“There’s no meaning in making that kind of comparison,” Qin Mu said slowly. “He appeared too early.”

       Lu Cheng understood.

So Qin Mu’s years of restraint and emotional coldness were simply because someone had already taken up residence in his heart long ago. The old acquaintance had gone away, and so the lone city sealed shut. After that, every encounter could only ever be a passing one, and all affection was like drifting clouds and smoke.

And he himself had merely been dazzled by a mirage, one of the countless ordinary people stranded outside the city.

Lu Cheng felt utterly miserable. Forcing himself not to lose composure in front of him, he clung to a trace of faint hope and asked, “Will you still meet me in the future?”

“Not in the near future.” Qin Mu paused, then smiled when he saw his crestfallen expression. “Once you’ve adjusted your mindset, we can meet again as friends. So I’ll pay for this meal today. Next time, it’ll be your turn.”

He was willing to be his friend.

Lu Cheng stood there in a daze, momentarily disoriented, and only nodded after a long while, saying yes.

When they parted, he lingered in place, watching Qin Mu’s figure recede farther and farther away, until at last he let out a dejected sigh.

       Unrequited love was truly bitter.

He had lost unwillingly, yet there was nothing he could do about it.

When Qin Mu returned home and pushed the door open, he immediately saw the man sprawled on the sofa, lying on his back with a cat in his arms.

Shen Liu had not expected him to come back at this hour and was startled. Like a naughty boy caught red-handed by a teacher, he reacted instinctively. He scrambled to his feet in a flurry, his long leg accidentally knocking over the beer cans beside him. Full and empty cans rolled all over the floor, startling both cats into stunned confusion.

Qin Mu’s gaze moved from the carpet soaked with beer to the open bag of chips on the sofa, then to the flustered man, his eyes narrowing slightly.

“Why are you back so early?” Shen Liu asked, wiping the carpet while putting on his signature smile to cover the awkwardness.

“Your ‘self-arranged’ evening looks pretty eventful,” Qin Mu said teasingly.

Shen Liu cleared his throat and showed a rare trace of embarrassment. “I wasn’t very hungry, and there happened to be a game on, so I thought I would just have some snacks to tide me over.”

“Didn’t someone just yesterday lecture me very seriously about eating on time?”

“I was going to order takeout, but then I thought… Without you here, eating alone would’ve felt too lonely.” There was a hint of grievance in his voice, awkward and restrained.

The corner of Qin Mu’s mouth lifted imperceptibly. He had seen through it long ago—Shen Liu was nothing more than a stubborn duck putting on a tough front. On the surface, he spoke magnanimously and played the gentleman, but inside, he had already been pickled through with jealousy, drowning his sour mood here with alcohol.

       Childish and ridiculous.

Shen Liu tossed all the empty bottles and chip packaging into the trash, then casually rubbed the side of his nose with a finger and asked, “You came back at this hour—did you not go with him to… that?”

       “That?” Qin Mu asked knowingly.

“Didn’t you have a contract? Your Friday interaction?”

       “The contract was terminated.”

Shen Liu froze for a moment, staring at Qin Mu in astonishment.

Qin Mu looked back at him.

They held each other’s gaze for several seconds.

Shen Liu’s lips curved upward. This time it was a genuine smile, joy showing clearly at the corners of his eyes and brows. “So that means I’m your only sub now?”

“Did I ever admit that?” Qin Mu shot him a glance that was half-smile, and walked into the kitchen. After washing his hands, he took out a pot and put water on to boil.

“What are you making? You’re still not full?” Shen Liu followed him over.

“Noodles. Want some?” Qin Mu busied himself without looking back, efficiently slicing the greens into fine shreds.

Shen Liu thoughtfully helped him tie on an apron, but refused to leave. He leaned in close behind his ear and murmured suggestively, “Of course. Whatever you make down there, I like eating it.”

Perfectly ordinary words, twisted into innuendo by him. Qin Mu’s ear went numb and itchy. Unable to stand it any longer, he raised the gleaming kitchen knife, his face stiff, and said coldly, “Get your ass back to the sofa.”

“As you command.” Shen Liu flagrantly disobeyed by taking the opportunity to plant a kiss on the back of his neck before slipping away.
