Chapter 60

Article 5: We needed to be duty-bound to think about two people getting old together.

Suo Yang’s proactive expression of love quickly left Shen Huiming lost in such a state. In the blink of an eye, it seemed that any object became an obstacle blocking them from conveying their feelings.

The two loving people were about to go to the bedroom when Shen Huiming suddenly pulled Suo Yang, “Wait a minute.”

He hugged the person, turned around and blew out the candle.

In the darkness, the two looked at each other, smiled, and returned to the room with their fingers clasped.

The bedroom door was closed tightly, and a table of prepared dishes had to wait for their return quietly. On a winter night, the two of them were sweetly in love, and the wind and snow outside the window did not affect the people inside the house at all.

Originally he planned to eat first, but because of Suo Yang’s ‘husband’ word, his sanity collapsed, and he went to bed directly. When the fierce lovemaking was over, Suo Yang said with a smile, “The dishes must have cooled down again.”

Shen Huiming kissed his finger, “It’s all your fault this time.”

Suo Yang smiled, “Yeah, my fault.”

He leaned over and hugged Shen Huiming, breathing a long sigh of relief.

“I blew out the birthday candles,” Shen Huiming said, “You haven’t made a wish yet.”

“Is it still too late to make a wish now?” Suo Yang looked up at him, “But you should be able to make my wish come true for me.”

       “Let’s hear it.”

“I hope you stay healthy despite being busy.” Suo Yang said, “My wish is still quite easy to fulfil, right?”

Shen Huiming hugged the person over and kissed the man’s sweat-dampened hair with his eyes closed.

       He was somewhat touched.

It was a great honour and luck for a person to be willing to share his birthday wishes with others.

“It’s really not difficult. I’ll apply for a dual card in a while, and you go with me.”

Suo Yang leaned against him and laughed, “Why did you involve me in it?”

“In our family, I can’t be healthy alone. You must also be healthy.” Shen Huiming said, “There’s a gym near my company, I’ll explore it tomorrow, and if it’s good, I’ll get a card. It’s also your birthday present.”

Suo Yang reluctantly bit his shoulder gently and then took him to take a shower.

Shen Huiming finished showering before Suo Yang, changed the sheets, opened a small gap in the window for ventilation, and then went into the kitchen. When Suo Yang came out, the food had been reheated.

Suo Yang picked up the clothes they had thrown away and put them into the dirty clothes basket, then went over and kissed Shen Huiming again.

“Did you have a happy birthday?” Shen Huiming put her arm around his waist and sat down at the dining table, then carefully cleaned the candles on the cake.

“This is the happiest birthday in my life.” Suo Yang helped him put the chopsticks away. “I didn’t even know that birthdays could be celebrated like this.”

Shen Huiming looked at him and said jokingly, “Thought we should celebrate it like Zhou Mo’s?”

Suo Yang leaned against him and laughed.

It was already late at night, and the two of them didn’t really have much of an appetite left, but they still ate some of each dish. After all, they shouldn’t waste it.

At almost twelve o’clock, they stood on the balcony of Shen Huiming’s house wrapped in sweaters and coats. The two of them huddled closely together, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the New Year.

The sound of the countdown came from the small square in the distance, and many young people gathered there to celebrate the New Year.

       Five, four, three, two, one.

Along with the cheers, there were also fireworks exploding in the sky.

The heavy snow continued to fall, and fireworks burst amidst the snowflakes. Suo Yang was mesmerized by the scene.

Shen Huiming raised his hand, put his arm around Suo Yang’s shoulders, and said softly, “Happy New Year, my dear.”

Suo Yang turned around and hugged him.

====

On the first day of the New Year, Suo Yang and Shen Huiming stayed at home for most of the day. In the evening, they set off again to fly to distant countries and cities.

Shen Huiming drove him to the airport, and the two met Suo Yang’s colleagues as soon as they got out of the car.

They met He Tian, who used to hitchhike with Suo Yang.

He Tian met Suo Yang on the airport bus before. She knew that Suo Yang was in a relationship, but Suo Yang didn’t have the habit of revealing all his private life to his colleagues. Almost no one knew that he was not straight.

“Yang ge!” He Tian just got off the bus and waved to Suo Yang.

Suo Yang looked over and smiled at her.

“My colleague.” Suo Yang said softly to Shen Huiming.

Shen Huiming understood and followed Suo Yang towards the other party.

“Are you flying tonight too?” Suo Yang asked politely.

“Well, flying to New York.” He Tian saw the man next to Suo Yang, “Is this your friend?”

Shen Huiming was handsome and had a good temperament. He Tian couldn’t help but take a second look at her.

“Yes, I took his car here.” Suo Yang saw He Tian’s eyes brightening when he looked at Shen Huiming and couldn’t help but want to laugh.

He turned to Shen Huiming and said, “Then I’ll go in first and contact you when I get back.”

“Okay.” Shen Huiming originally planned to accompany him in, but since he met his colleague, he couldn’t continue to follow. “Have a safe trip.”

Suo Yang smiled at him, “Bye.”

As the two of them walked in, He Tian couldn’t help but look back, “All the handsome guy’s friends are also handsome guys!”

Suo Yang lowered his head and chuckled, saying nothing.

Shen Huiming stood there and watched them go in. He didn’t turn around until no one could be seen anymore.

He returned to the car and looked up at the planes flying overhead with a thunderous roar. In just over three hours, his beloved would be taking off once again.

The snow was still falling, but it’s not as heavy anymore.

Shen Huiming kept playing a song on the way back, the same song ‘Berlin’ they listened to all night in Moscow.

They had just parted ways, and already the longing had begun.

Shen Huiming didn’t know whether he should laugh or cry. He couldn’t believe that he had turned into a clingy person.

====

Suo Yang, who just celebrated his birthday, was in a good mood and looked happy when he saw everyone.

This time, the other colleagues on the crew were all old partners, and the only one who was not too familiar with them was the boy who told Suo Yang that he had a crush on him before.

Suo Yang read the message sent by the flight attendant and then remembered the other person’s name. He didn’t mind who he worked with. He just wanted to minimize communication with the other person because he really didn’t like to discuss his private life with his colleagues.

More importantly, this man had seen him with Shen Huiming before when they went to Berlin.

At that time, Suo Yang and Shen Huiming were not together yet, and the other party had already misunderstood their relationship. Suo Yang didn’t say much at that time and didn’t bother to explain because it was unnecessary.

He went to the meeting as usual and told himself that he could not let these unimportant things and unimportant people affect his work.

As soon as Suo Yang entered the room, the boy greeted him with a smile.

“Yang ge, we are together again!”

Suo Yang smiled politely at him and said nothing.

       “It’s been a while.”

Suo Yang went over and stood up, and the other party stood next to him, “You became handsome again.”

“Song Kai, aren’t you too enthusiastic?” A girl came over and slapped Song Kai on the back, “Flirting with everyone! Yang ge, don’t let him do that either!”

Suo Yang took advantage of their quarrel to go to the other side and waited quietly for the steward chief to come over for the meeting.

This trip still went to Berlin, with a stopover in Moscow.

Suo Yang took a special look and found that he and the guy named Song Kai were both in first class this time.

He calmly continued to look through the information in his hand, and when he looked up, he found that the other party was looking at him again.

Suo Yang pretended not to see it and followed everyone to prepare for the flight after the meeting.

While he was busy counting the lunch boxes, Song Kai came over and said, “Yang ge, was it your birthday yesterday?”

Suo Yang didn’t want to chat with him, but he nodded politely.

Song Kai smiled and took out a small velvet bag from his pocket, “It’s a birthday present. It’s a little late, I hope you don’t mind.”

Suo Yang smiled at him, took a half step back and said, “I accept your kindness, so there is no need for the present.”

“No, I chose it specially for you.” Song Kai said, “I called you yesterday, but you didn’t answer.”

Suo Yang did have a missed call from an unknown number yesterday, but he never answered numbers he didn’t recognise.

However, he never expected that the call would come from a person named Song Kai.

“Is that so?” Suo Yang said perfunctorily while continuing to work, “I didn’t hear it.”

“So I’m here to give you a present now.” Song Kai looked at him with a smile and put the velvet bag in front of him.

Suo Yang glanced at the small bag, straightened up and said to Song Kai with a cold face, “I’m sorry, I don’t casually accept gifts from others, and I’m about to serve customers soon. I’m quite busy right now.”

Song Kai looked at him with a slight smile, “Okay, then you go about your business first.”

After saying that, Song Kai picked up the present he had carefully prepared and turned around to do his own thing.

Suo Yang turned back and sighed with his back to the direction Song Kai left. He really didn’t want to have a conflict with others, but Song Kai was obviously not very good at reading people’s eyes.

Or, he actually could but pretend not to understand.

Suo Yang couldn’t be bothered with him. There were still many things to be done, and such a trivial matter wasn’t worth his attention, not even as a side note.

There were very few first-class passengers on this flight. In fact, Suo Yang could handle it by himself, but after all, the route was long, so he had to accept Song Kai and get along with him.

In the beginning, everything seemed ordinary. Although Song Kai had annoyed Suo Yang a bit before, he behaved professionally after the passengers arrived. There was no sign of any improper behaviour; he greeted customers, conducted safety demonstrations, and everything was carried out step by step.

While the plane was ascending, Suo Yang and Song Kai were sitting in their respective seats, so close that they could see each other when they raised their heads.

But Suo Yang didn’t want to look up and kept turning around and looking out the window.

This flight was really unpleasant, but Suo Yang knew that he must not work with emotions, and he had to adjust himself as soon as possible.

For him, the most effective way to regulate his emotions was to think about Shen Huiming.

His Mr. Shen was an elegant and upright person. Whether he was revising the plan with a frown on his face at the company or cooking for him at home wearing an apron, he was particularly charming.

Suo Yang had never met such a charming man. Shen Huiming was the only one in the world, and he belonged to him.

As he thought of Shen Huiming, Suo Yang couldn’t help but smile. When he rushed into the clouds, he began to miss his lover.

Chapter 48 – I’m Back (II)

Xu Ye thought that going to bed meant doing it, but Chu Yu just held him and kissed him for a while and said, “Go to sleep.”

The room darkened, and a warm yellow wall lamp in the corner gave off a faint light like a firefly. His naked body was sunk between the soft mattresses, and the only sound in his ears was the steady breathing of the other person. Xu Ye kept his eyes open, watching the man before him, who had closed his eyes to sleep, illuminated by a faint glimmer.

In his twenty-eight years of life, he never thought that one day he would keep such a person in his heart, trust him wholeheartedly, rely on him without any fears, and willingly surrender everything.

It was a strange feeling, like a comet that had travelled alone for a long time and finally changed its trajectory due to strong gravity and fell to the solid surface. To be accepted, to be tolerated, and never again to have to walk alone with secrets he was too ashamed to reveal.

Xu Ye was looking at the man quietly, but unexpectedly, the man suddenly opened his eyes. He panicked, quickly closed his eyes, and pretended to sleep. Chu Yu chuckled and said, “After staring at me for so long, you’re closing your eyes now?”

Xu Ye couldn’t pretend anymore; his eyelashes fluttered, and he opened his eyes. The dim light hid the blushing embarrassment on his face, and he murmured, “Master, I didn’t mean to disturb your sleep, I’d better turn around.” He said it awkwardly, truly turning to the side and earnestly shifting a bit toward the edge of the bed.

The man didn’t speak; Xu Ye only felt the bed move, and then the arm stretched out from behind, wrapped around his waist and pushed him back. When his back pressed against that warm and solid chest, the touch on his back made Xu Ye freeze completely.

The skin-to-skin contact was completely unobstructed by clothing. Both of them were naked, his back and Chu Yu’s chest, his waist and hips and Chu Yu’s lower abdomen, fitting together closely.

Xu Ye was a little incoherent, “Master, you…”

“Shh—” The breath behind his ear softly brushed the back of his neck, slightly warm. A warm hand was placed on Xu Ye’s waist, and his slightly bent body was fully embraced. Chu Yu’s voice was soft and gentle, like the feathers of a young bird, soft and fluttering behind his head. “Close your eyes, relax your body, feel the frequency of my breathing, and then adjust your rhythm.” The man’s voice has a hypnotic magic that makes people easily addicted, “I will be behind you and hold you until you fall asleep.”

The gentle voice lingered in his ears like a breeze, and his chest’s slow and similar rise and fall was like a tide, gently caressing every tiny gravel on the beach. Xu Ye leaned back slightly, relaxed his tense body, and gently closed his eyes.

There was no erotic embrace, just comfort and companionship.

The night was dark, and everything was silent.

In this way, he sank little by little into the dream of the deep sea.

He waited for Xu Ye to sleep peacefully. Chu Yu raised his hand and gently stroked the scar on his forehead. In the past ten days, he had simultaneously pacified and ruthlessly wiped out the rebel forces that Song Wanhua had set off in the Black Eagle Organisation. The enemies who were involved in the underworld were naturally not easy to handle. He himself was attacked several times, and several of his bodyguards were killed or injured. The moment he rushed back under the stars and saw Xu Ye crying, he suddenly felt that all his suffering was worth it.

Under the gorgeous sceptre lay splattered blood, echoed agonizing screams, and lurked ugly desires. Once grasped, no matter how burdensome, it could not be easily relinquished. Yet, this was his way of protecting Xu Ye.

No one could touch his weakness easily.

Xu Ye moved uneasily in his deep sleep. Since that accident, he often woke up in the middle of the night and curled up unconsciously when falling asleep. This self-defensive posture stems from his deep inner insecurity. The impact of that incident on Xu Ye was not as light as he made it seem. The fear of dying still lingered in his subconscious, coming out to cause trouble from time to time. And Chu Yu’s departure made the situation more serious until it was impossible to sleep.

The man kissed his naked back, hugged him tightly, and whispered comfortingly, “I’m back…”

Chapter 47 – I’m Back (I)

The sound of gunshots pierced the silence.

Xu Ye watched helplessly as the bright red blood spread little by little on the warm chest, resembling enchanting flowers blooming on a white shirt. In the boundless darkness, Chu Yu looked at him with sorrowful eyes. A strong wind suddenly rose, breaking the silhouette into tiny red fragments scattered and lost to the unknown. A harsh, soundless scream echoed, and despair rose like an engulfing tidal wave, swallowing him whole.

He woke up in a cold sweat, and it took him a long time to break free from the nightmare. He took a few deep breaths to calm down as if he wanted to expel the suffocating air stuck in his chest.

A small night light left in the room gave off a bright yellow light. Xu Ye got up and opened the window. The late autumn night wind was blowing a bit cold. He sat quietly by the window with his clothes on, looking at the night sky covered with clouds and moon, and closed his eyes tiredly.

Ten days. It had been such a long time since Chu Yu left. It was like he had disappeared from the world out of thin air without any news. Even though he casually mentioned going to handle some trivial matters, Xu Ye understood in his heart that these matters were dangerous enough to keep him from being able to focus on himself. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have left himself alone at the Chu family’s main base. The atmosphere in the main house was also very tense. Xu Ye could see many solemn-looking people entering and leaving here every day. The eldest son Chu Qin, and the third son Chu Xuan almost never came back. All the battles were going on where he couldn’t see, and the only thing that floated on the surface was Golden Eagle’s stock price, which changed from high to low.

Xu Ye began to suffer from insomnia, and even when he was tired enough to fall asleep, he would suffer from nightmares. In his dream, he lost Chu Yu again and again. The nightmare tormented him, almost dragging him down. Two days ago, he had no choice but to ask the old man’s personal doctor to prescribe sleeping pills for him.

It was like returning to the days before he met Chu Yu, feeling anxious and suffocated. The old house was located in Donglin, so he ran to the construction site every day, followed by a bunch of bodyguards. After eating two mouthfuls of rice every day, he put down my chopsticks and devoted himself to work as if this would prevent him from thinking about that man.

The sleepless nights are particularly unbearable. Xu Ye glanced at the medicine bottle on the table and sighed helplessly. Just as he was about to get up and take medicine, he caught sight of a figure in the courtyard downstairs and was stunned.

The moon emerged from the clouds, and its clear and bright light fell silently on the man, blurring his outline. No one knew where the stars were hidden. In the quiet night, even the wind became quiet.

Xu Ye’s eyes became moist. He stood by the window of the second-story building, and the man looked up at him and said with a tired look, “Did you miss me?”

“…No.” Xu Ye replied innocently, but the water in his eyes could no longer be held back and slipped from the corners of his eyes.

“Liar.” Chu Yu smiled, “What are you crying for? I’m back, right?”

The moment he went upstairs and hugged Xu Ye, who was wearing pyjamas, the man’s body and mind, which had been tense for many days, finally relaxed. This familiar and warm feeling was what he had been missing. He unconsciously tightened his arms and hugged the person in his arms tighter.

His jaw sharpened, waist narrowed–how did Xu Ye become so thin in just a few days? Chu Yu’s gaze swept over the scattered documents and the open computer on the table, landing on the conspicuous medicine bottle at the bedside. Frowning slightly, he released him and asked, “What medication are you taking?”

Xu Ye was a little stiff, hesitated for a while, and said hesitantly, “I couldn’t sleep well at night. I went to see a doctor, and he said…”

“You now rely on sleeping pills to fall asleep, don’t you?”

“Master…” Xu Ye was like a rabbit whose tail was caught, looking at him in panic and confusion.

That expression made him feel distressed and angry. When he thought that this was how he had been living for the past ten days, the fire in Chu Yu’s heart completely burned. “I’m away for just ten days, and you’ve turned yourself into this.” He threw his coat on the chair, took out his belt, and said coldly, “Kneel down.”

Xu Ye knelt down silently after hearing the order.

       “Tell me who you are.”

       “I am your slave.”

       “Tell me your rights.”

“All my rights come from what you have given me.”

       “Tell me your duty.”

“To make you happy…” When he said these four words, Xu Ye lowered his eyes and looked at the ground.

Suddenly, a sharp and swift wind brushed past the ears, followed by the crisp sound of a thick belt hitting the ground. Xu Ye trembled all over and raised his face in panic.

Chu Yu’s deep eyes were like the vast and cold night, but they were also quiet, soft and gentle. He stared at the person kneeling on the ground and asked, “Do you think I will be happy if you make yourself like this?”

Xu Ye’s eyes trembled, his nose felt sore, and he said, “I was wrong, Master, forgive me…”

“There’s more.” The man pinched his chin and forced him to look up at him, “What should be the first thing you do when you see me come back?”

Xu Ye was stunned for a while before he remembered the ‘rules’ the man had set before and replied with some embarrassment, “Go to the door to welcome and greet proactively.”

       “What did you just do?”

Xu Ye was a little aggrieved but didn’t dare to defend himself, so he could only say in a low voice, “I was wrong.”

Chu Yu sat on the edge of the bed, tossing the belt aside. When used, this thing would leave welts on the skin, and he couldn’t actually use it on Xu Ye. “Today, I’ll give you a chance to make amends. Start over.”

Xu Ye stood up and approached him, closed his eyes and put his lips towards him. Seeing that he didn’t respond for a long time, he opened his eyes in embarrassment and called softly, “Master.”

“Is this the extent of your passion for me?” The man looked at him with a smirk, “Take off your clothes, get into bed.”

Chapter 59

In the book that Suo Yang and Shen Huiming had been flipping through, there was a sentence—Confession is often more difficult than everyday communication.

Suo Yang was a very introverted person in emotional expression. Compared with saying ‘I love you’, he was more willing to integrate this emotion into every detail of life to be perceived and discovered by the other party.

He knew that confession was not something to be ashamed of, but he always had a hard time saying it.

But at this moment, as they skated on the ice, the accelerated excitement made him feel derailed. He was detached from his original self, and he was desperately in need of conveying his love.

He shouted loudly, calling his lover’s name and the phrase ‘I love you’ that Shen Huiming rarely heard.

Shen Huiming actually knew very well that Suo Yang seldom said this sentence, not because the other party didn’t love him; it was all due to his personality. Whether a person loved himself or not, it didn’t matter what the other party said; what mattered was what he had done.

Love was such a thing; although it sounded vague and elusive, had no substance and couldn’t be touched, in fact, once it really came, both the lover and the loved one could feel it.

Shen Huiming felt Suo Yang’s love, so he was not obsessed with the phrase ‘I love you’.

However, at this moment, he unexpectedly received Suo Yang’s confession, loud and clear, a few words thrown into the air, exploding into fireworks in broad daylight.

When the two left the ice rink, Suo Yang was still in a giddy state. Their arms were tightly pressed together, and the backs of their hands touched each other from time to time.

Back in the car, Shen Huiming turned around and pulled Suo Yang for a kiss without hesitation. He couldn’t worry so much anymore. Even if he was seen, he didn’t care.

It had just snowed heavily the night before, and now it was snowing again.

On the last day of the year, snowflakes silently covered the city, burying all the noise in the clean snow.

Shen Huiming took Suo Yang to a cake shop, and the two made a birthday cake for Suo Yang with their own hands. After finishing the work, Suo Yang carefully wrote on it: Happy Birthday Shen Huiming’s Boyfriend.

There were so many words squeezed into the cake that was not too big, and almost everything couldn’t fit in it at the end.

Suo Yang leaned against Shen Huiming and smiled, “It looks like I’m very greedy.”

“You can be more greedy,” Shen Huiming said, “after all, you are Shen Huiming’s boyfriend.”

Suo Yang smiled, “You are a really arrogant person sometimes.”

“That’s true,” Shen Huiming said again, “After all, I am Suo Yang’s boyfriend.”

The two looked at each other and smiled, then went home with the cake.

They went back to Shen Huiming’s house together because it was rumoured that there would be fireworks not far from here during New Year’s Eve, and they could see clearly from the balcony of Shen Huiming’s house without any mishaps.

In winter, it got dark early, and it was already dark when they arrived home.

They put down the cake, and they went downstairs to the supermarket to buy ingredients together. Shen Huiming was going to cook a birthday meal for Suo Yang tonight personally.

When Suo Yang lived alone, he didn’t like to go to the supermarket. He ordered everything online and delivered it directly to his door. But after being with Shen Huiming, he suddenly began to enjoy the feeling of going to the supermarket with him.

The two people walked into the warm supermarket, one pushing the shopping cart, the other picking the ingredients and turning around from time to time to ask, “How about this? Do you like this?”

One of the most important things in life was the so-called ‘fireworks’. A strong sense of excitement that could arouse a person’s desire to live a good life.

In the past, Suo Yang’s life was uneventful, let alone others; even he himself felt it lacked flavour and excitement.

He was as bland as water1metaphor used to describe something ordinary/mundane, and it seemed that there was a kind of romantic independence from the world, but in fact, after experiencing the gentle world brought to him by Shen Huiming, Suo Yang never wanted to return to the cold and indifferent days before.

It was like—he had seen the ocean; he couldn’t pretend he hadn’t.

The two bought a cart full of ingredients, including some snacks.

None of them liked to eat snacks, but when passing by the shelf, Shen Huiming carefully selected two packs of candies and put them in the shopping cart.

He said, “In the future when you have a flight, put a candy I bought in your pocket. Consider it as me accompanying you on your journey.”

Suo Yang laughed at him for being sentimental, but he confidently said, “That’s right, people in love always talk like this.”

They returned from the supermarket, and the snow fell even more.

Shen Huiming said, “We should come out and have a snowball fight and build a snowman.”

He asked Suo Yang, “Did you have snowball fights with people when you were young?”

Suo Yang’s hometown was only a three-hour high-speed train ride from the city where he currently lives. Both were in the northern region, so the climate and lifestyle were actually quite similar.

But because of his family’s upbringing and his own personality, he never played anything.

Suo Yang followed Shen Huiming into the building door, “No, when I was young, I hardly went out to play after school. Now that I’ve grown up, I can’t afford to play either.”

“Then you haven’t met me,” Shen Huiming took his hand upstairs, “If you met me when you were a child, I would go to your window every day and ask you to come out to play.”

Suo Yang imagined that scene and thought it was a bit funny.

“Then I might get annoyed with you,” Suo Yang said, “You interrupted my study.”

In the elevator, the two laughed together. Even a little joke between lovers was utterly adorable.

This year, Suo Yang finally celebrated his birthday properly. His lover accompanied him and carefully cooked a large table of delicacies for him. In the middle of the table was the cake they made together. It didn’t look perfect, but because they made it by themselves, it had infinite added value.

Shen Huiming put in a candle, and the number ‘28’ was lit.

Shen Huiming said, “After today, until my birthday, there will be only a two-year age difference between the two of us.”

       “You care about age?”

“No, what I mean is, even if you’re 28, I’m still your brother.” At this moment, the lights in the room were all turned off, with only the flickering candlelight reflecting on their faces. Both of them looked very gentle. Shen Huiming said, “You were very cooperative with me when we rented the sledges today. Have you been wanting to call me ge all along?”

Suo Yang looked at him with a smile, “It’s just fine.”

       “Fine?”

“Well,” Suo Yang paused, looking at him through the candlelight, “You enjoyed hearing it?”

“You called me quite sexily,” Shen Huiming said. “As nasty as it sounds, it’s true. I almost couldn’t hold back my hard-on when you called me ge at that moment.”

Suo Yang leaned on the table with both hands and couldn’t help laughing out loud.

       “I can’t believe you’re such a person.”

“It wasn’t originally,” Shen Huiming said honestly, “After meeting you, maybe I’ve picked up some bad habits.”

       “Did I corrupt you?”

“No. there are people who unintentionally captivate others, and I lose my composure every time I see you.” Shen Huiming thought for a while, then lowered his head and smiled, “Otherwise, I wouldn’t have asked you for your mobile phone number.”

That was the first time they met. Suo Yang found Shen Huiming’s ticket holder and returned it to him. Seizing the opportunity, Shen Huiming tried to ask for Suo Yang’s contact information but was rejected.

Shen Huiming always thought that he was a very self-controlled person, but since he met Suo Yang, this good quality of himself had disappeared in front of the other party.

“Well… there is another nickname. You may like it better.” Suo Yang said, “Although today is my birthday, to thank you for making me so happy, I’ll give you a gift. Do you want me to call you ‘ge’ or choose another nickname?”

       “What could it be?”

“You choose first, and then I’ll tell you.” Suo Yang looked at him with a smile, “Do you want to play safe? Or do you want to take a risk?”

Shen Huiming looked at him, with a table of delicious food and a birthday cake between them.

He stretched out his hand, “Touch my hand, let me sense it.”

Suo Yang laughed out loud, complaining about his childishness, but still reached out to him.

Shen Huiming held his hand, rubbed the back of his hand lightly, and said, “I’ll choose another one.”

       “No regrets?”

       “No regrets.”

Suo Yang went around the dining table and walked to Shen Huiming’s side.

He approached slowly and put his arms around his neck.

Their foreheads touched, and Suo Yang’s lips parted slightly, “Husband.”

His voice was so soft that Shen Huiming couldn’t even tell if it was his hallucination.

Shen Huiming suddenly put his arms around Suo Yang’s waist and asked him uncertainly, “What did you call me just now?”

“Husband.” Suo Yang looked at him and smiled, the lips of the two almost touched together “Do you like me to call you this?”

Suo Yang himself couldn’t explain why he suddenly became so bold today; he confessed loudly outside and broke through his shame when they returned home and called Shen Huiming, his husband.

Shen Huiming was dazzled by the joy. He never expected Suo Yang to call him that.

From ‘Mr. Shen’ to ‘Huiming’, it took him a lot of thought and effort. Shen Huiming knew Suo Yang’s character very well, and he never expected to ask for more from the other party.

He didn’t ask for it, but his Suo Yang took the initiative to give it to him.

Shen Huiming couldn’t help hugging and kissing him, regardless of whether the burning candle had dripped on the cake or whether the cooked food was getting cold, he pushed Suo Yang against the wall, and the two of them embraced each other in a passionate and lingering kiss.

The book they read together said—we began the longest and best kiss in human history.

As for Suo Yang, he also understood another sentence in the book—it is easier to fire Cupid’s arrow than to receive them, and it is easier to give than to receive.

It turned out that expressing love was such a joyful thing. When he watched Shen Huiming excited and satisfied because of his expression of love, his life seemed to become richer and more worthy of celebration.

“Why are you so proactive today?” Shen Huiming bit Suo Yang’s lip lightly and asked.

“Because I love you.” Suo Yang looked straight into his eyes and said, “And I also hope you can know that I love you.”

Chapter 46 – Weakness

Xu Ye never asked about the cause and result of that accident. He vaguely felt that those people were coming for him, but he didn’t know what he had done to provoke those people to kill him.

His master had been very busy during this period, but despite this, he often stayed with him at home, and sometimes even meetings were held at home. Xu Ye had an intuition that the things Chu Yu was dealing with were related to the accident and that things were far more complicated and troublesome than he imagined. So he was not in a hurry to explore the truth because he knew that Chu Yu would definitely give him an answer.

The days he spent leisurely at home were also quite fulfilling. In addition to reading boring economic and legal books, Xu Ye also learnt cooking skills from Uncle Ye. Yesterday, accidentally shattered the celadon bowl that Chu Yu had acquired through a high-priced auction. Uncle Ye and the kitchen assistant were so frightened that their faces turned pale. The three of them studied for a long time and couldn’t glue it back together. Finally, Xu Ye confessed and was punished by kneeling for an hour.

On Thursday morning, he was following the steps on the computer to learn how to bake cookies when the doorbell rang. It was Chu Xuan who came, and there were more than a dozen well-trained black-clad attendants standing outside the door.

Before xiao Xun could finish his sentence, “Third Young Master, why are you here?” the other party had already turned to Xu Ye and said coldly, “Follow me.”

“Third Young Master!” Xiao Xun stopped him in a deep voice, “I can’t let you take him away until I receive a direct order from the Second Young Master.”

Chu Xuan raised an eyebrow, his eyes narrowing into a playful expression, “Can you stop me?”

The atmosphere suddenly became tense. Eight bodyguards who stayed outside the house jumped in from the window and protected Xu Ye in the centre. And more than ten men in black outside the door also approached the house.

Chu Xuan raised his hand to stop their actions and looked at Xiao Xun calmly, “If I haven’t received orders, I won’t come to snatch someone from Second Brother’s territory. You should already know who has the authority to give me orders. I must take him away today. As for whether things get physical, that’s for you to consider.”

Silence spread. Butler Xiao, who had always been calm, looked a little pale at the moment. The Second Young Master had been unable to be contacted since just now. Once Xu Ye was taken away from here, it would be difficult to predict what would happen. However, he couldn’t disobey the person who gave the order…

“I’ll go with you.” Xu Ye, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke.

“Young Master Xu!” Xiao Xun was shocked.

“It’s okay.” He rubbed his hands covered with sticky dough on his apron and smiled at Chu Xuan, “Please wait a moment. I have to wash my hands and change my clothes. It wouldn’t be presentable to go out like this.”

The car was speeding on the straight road, getting further and further away from the centre of K City. This road was very familiar to Xu Ye; it was the direction to Donglin.

“Why aren’t you asking any questions?” Chu Xuan, who was sitting next to him, said calmly.

Xu Ye raised the corner of his lips, “Even if I ask, you may not necessarily answer. Rather than making both sides awkward, it’s better not to ask anything. In the end, we’ll find out anyway.”

The man looked at him for a while and said, “You are different from before.”

“For the better, or for the worse?” Xu Ye turned his face sideways.

Chu Xuan was stared at by his deep, dark eyes, and for some reason, a wave of restlessness surged in his heart. He turned away without speaking.

The car stopped at the gate of a manor.

Xu Ye followed Chu Xuan through the intricate Chinese-style garden, walking along the ornate corridor towards the main residence. Everywhere they looked, there were beautifully designed rockeries and clear ponds, lush trees, and blooming flowers. The black-clad bodyguards within the estate respectfully stepped aside in silence as they approached.

There was a bitter smell of traditional Chinese medicine in the large reception room. The sunlight filtered in through the open wooden lattice window, casting a layer of soft light on the intricately carved mahogany furniture. The man sitting on the main seat held a white porcelain bowl in his hand, frowned slightly, and drank the black concoction in one gulp.

“Father.” Chu Xuan, abandoning his usual aloof demeanour, straightened his posture and talk in a low voice, “I brought him here.”

Xu Ye’s heart skipped a beat. Even though he had made a rough guess on the road, he still felt nervous when he saw the real person. After all, this man was a renowned underworld figure, a wealthy legend in the business world, and Chu Yu’s father. The man, who had a dominating reputation, didn’t emanate the sinister and ruthless aura Xu Ye had imagined. Instead, he was lean and elegant. But when he raised his eyes, the sharpness contained in those bright eyes with a sense of oppression made people unconsciously hold their breath in awe. This kind of imposing presence, not born of anger but sheer authority, was crafted through the trials of time, and it exuded from his very essence, impossible to replicate.

The empty bowl in his hand was taken over by the attendant servant, and Chu Guangye glanced at Xu Ye lightly.

“Hello, Mr. Chu, I’m Xu Ye.” As someone younger, he should naturally take the initiative to greet him.

“Sit down.” The man’s hair was dyed grey with time. He was wearing linen Chinese clothes. There was no emotion or anger on his thin face. He asked, “How long have you been with my second son?”

He sat down on the mahogany chair next to Chu Xuan and answered honestly, “More than three months.”

“What do you think of him?”

Xu Ye looked slightly red and replied, “…very good.”

“So after you get Donglin’s land, you still don’t plan to leave him?” In Chu Guangye’s eyes, there were surges of hidden turmoil.

Xu Ye was startled, with a wry smile on his lips, “Mr. Chu knows the character of the second young master very well. If I approached him with that kind of motive, I’m afraid I wouldn’t have the chance to sit here and meet you today.” He paused, his long eyelashes drooped slightly, “I’ve put in a lot of effort to secure the Donglin project. The Second Young Master’s decision to invest wasn’t solely based on our personal relationship. From the current perspective, the project is progressing smoothly. I can’t guarantee what the financial situation will be like after the grand opening next spring, but I’m confident that Golden Eagle’s investment won’t go to waste. As for the relationship between us…” He pursed his lips and said softly, “As absurd as it may sound, I love him. You are his father, and I would very much like to have your permission.”

This was said very sincerely. Chu Xuan, who was sitting next to him, looked at him silently, with a bit of surprise in his eyes. He didn’t expect Xu Ye to be so calm in front of the old man.

In fact, the person involved was already so nervous that even his fingers were cold. He sat stiffly on the chair, his heart beating as if he was overspeeding.

Chu Guangye looked at him for a while and said, “What if I don’t allow it?”

Xu Ye was stunned, tightened his fingers, and raised his face with determination, “I will not leave Chu Yu until he lets me go.”

As if hearing something interesting, Chu Guangye smiled and said, “Young man, you need to understand one thing. If I don’t agree, the Second won’t have the ability to keep you.”

The strong sense of oppression in that gaze made Xu Ye shiver. He knew this wasn’t a bluff. After Chu Guangye started the Black Eagle Society and successfully cleaned it up, he left all business matters to his three sons, and he lived in seclusion and seldom took any action. However, what he saw and heard when he entered this mansion made Xu Ye feel that the old man Chu was the one who really controlled everything. No one could challenge his authority.

“I’m not the old-fashioned, stubborn man you think I am. It doesn’t matter what Chu Yu likes to do or whether his bed partner is a man or a woman. Your relationship is your business, and I won’t interfere. Life is short, and I never waste time on trivial matters.” He looked at Xu Ye, who was completely stunned and continued, “Originally, I didn’t need to meet you, but the Second did something that crossed the line, and I need to teach him a lesson.” He made a gesture, and not long after, two black-clothed bodyguards pushed the door in, and then a figure walked in.

When he saw clearly the figure, Xu Ye could no longer sit still; he stood up suddenly, but Chu Xuan grabbed him and warned him in a low voice, “Sit down obediently. This is not a place where you can do whatever you want.”

He sat down stiffly, his eyes tremblingly falling on the whip-scarred Chu Yu, and he felt as if his heart was being tightened. The white shirt was torn out by the whip, and red marks were faintly revealed, which must have been broken skin and blood.

Chu Yu, who was kneeling in the middle of the room, also saw him. His pupils shrank suddenly, and he looked at his father with steaming anger in his eyes. His voice sounded like ice, “He has nothing to do with this matter.”

“The rules are always determined by the stronger party. Until you’ve fully matured, everything is decided by me.” Chu Guangye took a sip of tea leisurely, “After receiving thirty lashes, do you now know where you went wrong?”

Chu Yu lowered his eyes, “Calling the Dark agents without your consent. Taking the risk of touching those old guys without adequate preparation. A miscalculation that escalated the situation.”

“That’s all?” Chu Guangye smiled, “Go on, ten lashes.”

Watching the bodyguard wielding a soft black whip without hesitation towards Chu Yu’s back, Xu Ye couldn’t help but want to plead, only to hear Chu Xuan say in a deep voice, “In the Chu family’s rules, pleading intensifies the punishment. Do you want the Second Brother to be hurt even more severely?”

Chu Yu forced himself to endure the pain and remained silent, keeping his eyes on Xu Ye as if to reassure him. Watching the man who had always walked ahead steadfastly, shielding him from wind and rain, the man he looked up to, now kneeling quietly and enduring the lashes, each strike felt like a blow to his own heart for Xu Ye. He bit his lip tightly, his eyes reddening.

After ten lashes, Chu Guangye asked, “Do you understand now?”

The whip used for this kind of punishment was wrapped with black gold wire. It was thin and heavy, and it hurt terribly when it hit the body. Chu Yu panted lightly and said, “Understood. I wasn’t ruthless enough. I had too many concerns about those old folks, gave Song Wanhua the opportunity to gather support and form factions.”

“You still have to be beaten to learn quickly.” Chu Guangye raised the corner of his lips, looked at his second son kneeling on the ground and said, “Figure out the next steps on your own. If your actions are not smooth and cause instability in the entire Golden Eagle, I won’t hesitate to abandon you and use you as a target.”

“I understand, father.” Chu Yu stood up, and a bodyguard in black immediately put a clean coat on him.

“As for your weakness, leave it with me for the time being.” After Chu Guangye finished speaking, he stood up and left.

Xu Ye looked at the injuries on his body, stretched out his hand, but did not dare to touch it. There was a bitterness in his throat that would not go away, and he asked softly, “Does it hurt?”

Seeing the worry in the other person’s eyes, Chu Yu couldn’t help but smile. “It hurts, but…” He pointed his index finger at Xu Ye’s lips and said, “If someone could comfort me, maybe it wouldn’t hurt as much.”

Xu Ye’s face turned slightly red, and he raised his neck and kissed the slightly curved thin lips. He took the initiative to open his mouth and wrap it around the man’s tongue, letting the other person sweep every inch of his warm mouth. It was a familiar scent that made him feel at ease.

The sunlight shone in from the window, forming rays of light that were within reach, illuminating the tiny rolling dust particles in the air.

The room was charmingly cosy and warm.

A slight cough broke the kiss between the two. Xu Ye took half a step back as if his tail had been stepped on, blushing in embarrassment.

How could he ignore the big man beside him…

“Second brother.” Chu Xuan said bravely, “It was the old man who ordered me to bring Xu Ye here.”

Chu Yu glanced at him, “I will settle this account with you slowly when I have time.”

“…I’ll get you some ointment.” He quickly disappeared.

Xu Ye couldn’t help but laugh, “Why is the Third Young Master so afraid of you?”

“Because I often beat him when I was young.” Chu Yu sat down on the stone bench in the yard, and Xu Ye sat next to him, watching the koi fish swimming slowly in the pond. The man raised his hand and touched his head, “Are you scared to come here alone?”

“It was a bit overwhelming at first, but then I saw you…well, I felt a lot more at ease.”

“The old man likes you very much.” Chu Yu looked at his expression full of disbelief and smiled, “Otherwise, he wouldn’t allow you to stay.”

“Allow me to stay?” Xu Ye was confused and looked at the man with flashing eyes. The phrase ‘As for your weakness, leave it with me for the time being’ suddenly flashed through his mind, and he was stunned.

The wind passed between the two of them, blowing up the dark coat on the man’s body, and there was a unique gentleness in his deep voice.

“Xu Ye, my only weakness is you.”

Chapter 45 – Inconvenience

Under Chu Yu’s arrangement, Xu Ye’s treatment process could only be described as ‘very positive’. Xu Ye felt that his master might think that he was no longer smart, so he had to actively rescue him to prevent him from becoming stupider.

In the past two days, he was forced to do all the examinations he could. He was forced to go through all the possible checks, examining himself thoroughly inside and out, even until some cavities were discovered. Chu Yu mobilized a team of experts to study his brain for a whole day and finally determined that there were no other abnormalities except a forehead skin injury and a moderate concussion.

He felt that Chu Yu was blaming himself, so he said nothing and let the doctors and nurses push him in and out for examination. Chu Yu wouldn’t let him get out of bed, and he would lie down obediently. Chu Yu would feed him, and he would eat in big bites. Chu Yu would push off his work and stay with him every night without saying anything, but… Xu Ye was completely speechless when he saw another bed being pushed in by the bodyguards and placed tightly next to his hospital bed.

Second Young Master Chu was not used to sleeping on the sofa, so he wanted to make a double bed in the ward!

Xu Ye also remembered that after Leopard woke up from surgery the night before yesterday, he wanted to see him, but the man carried him directly into the ward next to him. Leopard and the doctors and nurses didn’t know where to look. He, too, couldn’t speak with a blushing face in that man’s arms.

If this continued, the ward would be converted into a bedroom. Xu Ye saw Chu Yu lying down, leaned over a little, and called softly, “Master…”

This was the first time Xu Ye called him that way after the injury. Chu Yu curled his lips and spoke in a gentle tone, “Do you need something from me?”

Xu Ye, who was exposed by the words, blinked, “I want to go home.”

       “Your injuries haven’t healed yet.”

“It’s just applying some medicine next, anyway, and then get some more rest; it’s the same at home. Besides, staying in the hospital is boring, and it’s inconvenient.”

The man raised his eyes, “What’s inconvenient?”

Xu Ye looked at him with those clear black and white eyes for a while, then leaned over and pecked him quickly on the lips, then pulled back, blushing and whispered, “This kind of inconvenient.”

Chu Yu smiled, touched his head and said, “I’ll take you back tomorrow. Now, sleep well.”

The second young master kept his promise and allowed him to be discharged from the hospital the next day.

Before leaving, Xu Ye made a special trip to see Leopard.

The tall and sturdy man was wrapped in gauze and lay flat on the bed like a mummy. Four of his ribs were broken, one of which was stabbed diagonally into his lung, and he underwent four surgeries in two days. He was able to come back from the brink of death, firstly, by his own strong will, and secondly, by timely and effective surgical treatment. Chu Yu spent a lot of resources to save him, asked a team of experts to formulate a postoperative recovery plan, and hired three professional nurses to take turns taking care of him day and night.

Xu Ye stood beside the hospital bed, looking at Leopard lying motionless. He thought of the way he rushed over to protect him, and it pained him deeply. He said with red eyes, “Leopard, I owe you a life. Whatever I can do to help, as long as you ask, I will try my best to do it for you. You should get better soon.”

Leopard couldn’t move or speak. He only blinked at him to show that he heard him, and there was a bit of warmth in his eyes.

He used to be a soldier. After he was discharged, he worked as a security guard in a commercial building owned by Golden Eagle. When he saw his supervisor molesting a female employee, he went up and beat him up without saying a word. Surprisingly, it was not him but the supervisor who was fired the next day, and he became the head of the security team. Not long after, group executive Tang Can came to him, and the first thing he asked was, “Are you willing to sell your life to me?”

He was an orphan and had nothing to worry about. His employer offered him a generous salary, so he was willing to dedicate his life to his employer. But he didn’t expect that the person Tang Can asked him to protect was actually the young master of a wealthy conglomerate. During the more than two years with Chu Yu, he worked diligently and carefully. Chu Yu trusted him very much and never excluded him from discussions, even on extremely important occasions. He once asked the second young master face to face how he could believe him, and Chu Yu smiled and replied, “People with clear eyes are usually loyal.” An old man was described as having ‘clear eyes’, which made him so embarrassed that he didn’t know what to say. He was moved by such trust and secretly determined to remain loyal to the Second Young Master Chu for the rest of his life, even if it meant to die taking a bullet for him.

Later, when Chu Yu sent him to be Xu Ye’s bodyguard, he felt a little aggrieved. In his eyes, Xu Ye was just a vase or a pet, not worth following at all. But since the second young master said, “I’ll leave his safety to you. Take good care of him”, he did his best. When his arm was broken, he smiled bitterly in his heart. It was a pity that he had to die for a pet. But when he saw Xu Ye rushing out of the car to save himself, he suddenly felt that it was worth sacrificing his life here. He really didn’t realize that this kid was actually a man…

When he woke up after the operation, he made up his mind again. When he got better, and if the second young master agreed, he would work as a bodyguard for this kid again and never let anyone hurt a single strand of his hair in the future.

Of course, Xu Ye didn’t know what was going on in Leopard’s heart. At that moment, all he felt was guilt and unbearableness. He made a long promise, promising to compensate him in this way and thank him in that way. He even said, “If you are bored, I can come to the hospital every day to chat with you, read to you, or watch a film with you.” Leopard glanced at the second young master, whose smile didn’t really reach his eyes and almost broke into a cold sweat. He thought to himself, ‘I finally survived. Young master Xu, you are trying to kill me again…’ Unable to speak, he expressed his plea through his eyes, seeking help from his boss, Tang Chan, who stood behind him.

Tang Can suppressed his laughter and advised, “Master Xu, Leopard needs to rest.”

Xu Ye snorted and made an appointment to see him next time before following Chu Yu. Leopard breathed a sigh of relief, closed his eyes and continued his mummification.

Back at Hanguan No. 8, xiao Xun and his servant stood at the door to greet him.

As soon as Xu Ye entered the door, he breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, “It’s good to be back and feel at ease.” After saying this, he suddenly realized that his words were completely inappropriate, and his cheeks immediately flushed with embarrassment.

When did he start to consider this place as his home by default in his heart?

       “Second Young Master.”

       “Second Young Master.”

Someone spoke in unison. Xu Ye looked towards the living room when he heard the sound and found six or seven senior executives standing respectfully. He was immediately embarrassed, nodded his head to say hello, and then looked at the man next to him with a blushing face. When he saw the playful smile in the other person’s eyes, he finally turned completely red. He whispered, “I’m going back to the room first.” and was about to run away, but Chu Yu grabbed his wrist.

“I have something to tell you.” The man stopped smiling and looked very serious.

       Xu Ye stopped in surprise.

“First, for the sake of your health, you will stay here until the wound heals.” There was no room for bargaining in Chu Yu’s tone.

Xu Ye nodded. He didn’t hate life here, and he seemed to be getting more and more used to being around Chu Yu, feeling safe and relaxed.

“Second, for your safety, during this period, you are not allowed to go out without my permission.” This clause involved movement restriction. Chu Yu thought he would resist, but Xu Ye thought for a while and obeyed. He nodded again, like a gentle and harmless rabbit.

“As for the third point, it’s a matter of discipline.” The man’s eyes were filled with warmth and as gentle as water. “When I come back from now on, I expect you to welcome me at the door and greet me proactively.”

“Greetings?” The rabbit, who listened carefully with his ears perked up, expressed confusion. Did this mean he wanted him to bow…

“As a demonstration.” Before Chu Yu finished speaking, he suddenly put his arm around his waist, raised his chin with the other hand and lowered his head to kiss him. Xu Ye was startled by the sudden kiss, and an unuttered exclamation was blocked in his throat. It was not until the man’s aggressive lips and tongue completely invaded his mouth that he instinctively closed his eyes and raised his neck.

With warm body temperature, soft lips, and the sweet taste of chocolate eaten on the road, they were close enough that they could feel each other’s heartbeats.

The person he held close to his heart was still alive, and he had almost lost him.

This thought made Chu Yu’s movements more intense. He clasped the back of Xu Ye’s neck and went deeper and deeper out of control like a thirsty traveller encountering a sweet spring. He lingered, entangled, and demanded until the person in his arms became soft and unable to breathe. After falling into his arms, he reluctantly let go and asked, “Have you learned?”

Xu Ye was so confused by his kiss that he even lost his ability to think. When he came back to his senses, he remembered that there was a circle of spectators nearby. He was so embarrassed that he wanted to dig a hole and bury himself. He was embarrassed to say anything for a long time.

“Want me to demonstrate again?” Chu Yu said with a smile.

Xu Ye held back his blushing face in embarrassment and choked out two words that sounded like mosquitoes’s cry, “It’s okay…”

“Very good.” The man looked in the direction of the sofa and said, “Say hello. They are all my subordinates.”

Xu Ye was a little confused because he had no interaction with these people, and there was no need to know them. But he knew that Chu Yu’s arrangements always had his reasons, so he said softly, “Hello, I am Xu Ye.”

“Young Master Xu.” Several people responded at the same time and then introduced themselves respectively. They were all kind and respectful.

The senior executives under Chu Yu were well aware of their young master’s interests and hobbies. To them, the second master’s subs were just pets, and there was no need for interaction or respect. So Xu Ye’s appearance took them by surprise. They checked Xu Ye’s background and described it in four words—clean, ordinary, safe and harmless.

It’s precisely because of individuals like him that the usually calm as ice Young Master’s heart became less passive. Looking back now, Chu Yu’s expression at the moment of Xu Ye’s accident still made them palpitate. They didn’t expect that this timid-looking young man would rush out to save a bodyguard in that situation. These executives, who navigated both sides of the law, naturally understood the value of camaraderie, bravery, and kindness in times of crisis. That incident made Xu Ye’s status in their hearts begin to change, and even the usually proud Tang Chan developed a measure of respect for him.

Xu Ye didn’t understand why Chu Yu wanted to introduce him to his subordinates, but these cadres understood. This was the second young master clearly indicating Xu Ye’s status to them. In this formal introduction, Chu Yu did not explain Xu Ye’s identity because this identity no longer needed to be explained.

       —He is my man.

Everyone knew the hidden meaning behind this sentence.

“Go upstairs and rest for a while.” Chu Yu looked at him with extremely gentle eyes.

Xu Ye nodded and smiled at him.

Chapter 58

It might have something to do with the nature of his job, but it was difficult for Suo Yang to sleep well if he was not at his own home. However, since he met Shen Huiming, he could sleep well even if he stayed at the other party’s home. He also slept very comfortably that night at his parents’ house. He had a dreamless night, and when he woke up, he felt no fatigue.

When he opened his eyes, Shen Huiming had already woken up and was lying there replying to his assistant’s message.

“Morning.” Suo Yang greeted him softly.

Shen Huiming turned to look at him, smiled and kissed him, “Happy birthday.”

Suo Yang almost forgot that today was his birthday.

He lay there, looked at Shen Huiming and smiled, “Thank you.”

After replying to the assistant’s message, Shen Huiming lay down again, hugged Suo Yang and asked, “How was it? Did you sleep well last night?”

Last night, after Shen Huiming finished showering, Suo Yang was already sitting in the bedroom chair, waiting for him. They chatted for a while, mostly about family matters. Suo Yang mentioned that, if possible, he would like to find time to go back home and visit.

Actually, he had been thinking about it all along, wanting to return, even if it meant just catching a distant glimpse of his parents and asking the neighbours about their well-being. However, he never had the courage.

However, he never dared to do so.

Suo Yang, who often appeared invulnerable, was not truly invulnerable. He had his own worries and fears about things he hesitated to do.

He used to be afraid, but now, with Shen Huiming in his life, he felt that Shen Huiming and Shen Huiming’s parents had given him new hope and courage.

Maybe everything wasn’t so irreparable after all.

After chatting for a while, the two fell asleep, lying on the same bed, covered with a quilt.

They embraced each other and soon fell asleep, inhaling the scent of each other’s shampoo and shower gel, which was the same as their own.

“Very good.” Suo Yang kissed Shen Huiming’s forehead, “Especially when I saw you as soon as I opened my eyes, I felt better.”

Shen Huiming smiled, “When did you learn to say such cheesy things?”

       “That cheesy?”

“A little bit,” Shen Huiming’s fingers lightly brushed his collarbone, “but I like it very much.”

Suo Yang smiled, grabbed his fingers and kissed him, “Let’s get up? Don’t let Uncles and Auntie wait for us.”

“Alright, I’ll count three, two, one, and we’ll sit up together.” Shen Huiming said, “Three, one!”

       Then he sat up first.

Suo Yang looked at him helplessly and smiled, “Very childish.”

Shen Huiming pulled him up, “Then do you like it?”

“Quite like it.” Suo Yang sat up and stretched.

The two got out of bed and left the room. Shen Huiming’s father had already prepared breakfast.

Like a warm family of four, they sat down together eating buns and porridge.

After eating and drinking enough, Shen Huiming’s parents were ready to go to work, and the two juniors were also ready to go out.

Today was Suo Yang’s birthday, and Shen Huiming had come up with a last-minute plan.

When they came out from Shen Huiming’s parents’ place, Shen Huiming said, “Suo Yang, why don’t we go back to your hometown today?”

Suo Yang was stunned. He didn’t expect Shen Huiming to say this so suddenly.

Although Suo Yang asked Shen Huiming to accompany him back when he got up in the morning, he was actually not ready yet, and he was still nervous, worried, and afraid.

“It doesn’t matter if you don’t want to visit today,” Shen Huiming said, “I just thought today is your birthday, we’ll have New Year’s Eve tonight, and tomorrow is New Year’s Day. It’s a perfect day for a family reunion.”

       Suo Yang hesitated.

When Shen Huiming saw his hesitation, he held his hand and said, “It’s okay, let’s talk about it some other time. Let’s stick to our original plan today.”

Suo Yang looked at Shen Huiming gratefully.

“Don’t look at me like that,” Shen Huiming smiled, “This is what I should do.”

“No,” Suo Yang said, “Even if you are a lover, you don’t have all the obligations to do these things. If you do it, it is due to your affection, and if you don’t do it, it is a matter of course. Your willingness to consider all this shows how well you treat me.”

Shen Huiming clicked his tongue. There was really nothing to be done about him.

The two of them went home first, changed their clothes, took a brief rest and then went out.

Since Suo Yang didn’t want to go back to his hometown now, they should spend this day according to the original plan.

Before going out, Shen Huiming asked Suo Yang to wear thicker clothes and then drove to the shopping mall to buy thick hats and gloves.

       Suo Yang asked, “Going skiing?”

Shen Huiming smiled, “It’s more interesting than skiing.”

Suo Yang was very curious but didn’t ask too many questions. He kept his thoughts to himself and obediently followed Shen Huiming wherever he went.

Shen Huiming drove him to the small park where the two of them used to row boats. The last time they came was in autumn, but now the lake was frozen, and the boating event had already stopped.

The boat could no longer be rowed, but there are new ways to play.

When Suo Yang stood by the frozen lake, his expression was surprised.

“How is it? Are you afraid?” Shen Huiming asked him with a smile.

At this time, the lake was covered with thick ice, and many adults and children were playing around on it.

“When I was young, I used to come here to sledge in the winter.” Shen Huiming said. “At that time, there were no merchants renting sledges here. My little sledges were made by my father himself.”

Suo Yang never had such childhood memories.

In his memory, he rarely came out to play. He usually went to school and cram school, and his parents locked him at home when they went out to work during the holidays.

He had very few friends since he was a child, and he wasn’t very fond of making friends. He didn’t have much interest in these fun things outside and couldn’t understand why so many classmates enjoyed going out to play.

Later, as he grew a bit older and went to college, he gradually interacted with more people and experienced a lot of things. He suddenly realised that his limited past experiences had left his perspective very narrow. He came to understand that the seemingly dull things in life weren’t really dull; he just hadn’t enjoyed them before, and no one had ever told him how to enjoy them. So, he had simply kept his distance to avoid feeling out of place.

Shen Huiming said, “It’s very safe, don’t be afraid.”

Suo Yang used to be afraid of water, but Shen Huiming held his hand and swam in the lake.

Facts had proved that as long as Shen Huiming was there, everything seemed to be nothing to be afraid of.

He smiled, “Okay, let me experience the joy of your childhood today.”

Shen Huiming smiled at him and took him to rent a sledge together.

Most of the people who came here to play with the sledges were children. They were two adults, or two men, renting the sledges. The boss was a big brother in his forties and jokingly said to them, “You two seem to have a lot of zest for life!”

Shen Huiming smiled, “Yes, my little brother’s birthday is today, so I brought him here to reminisce about his childhood.”

Standing behind Shen Huiming, Suo Yang suddenly felt that the title ‘my little brother’ was cute.

He also smiled, “Ge, should we rent a bigger one?”

Shen Huiming almost reacted when he called him ‘Ge’. He looked back at Suo Yang and happened to bump into his smiling eyes.

A somewhat less ‘elegant’ thought popped up in his mind, which he suppressed for the time being, but he could bring it up again at night.

“A bigger one will do,” said the boss, “It looks like both of you have long legs. The shorter one might feel uncomfortable and a bit cramped!”

The two of them rented a large-sized sledge, the kind where two people could sit together. Typically, double sledges or multi-person sledges have front and back seats, but this place had the ‘luxury edition’ where you could sit side by side, like a double-seat mini sofa, perfect for couples to play together.

Of course, the boss only thought of them as brothers who had a good relationship but didn’t look alike and didn’t think of them as lovers at all.

After paying the deposit, the boss reminded them of the precautions and confirmed the time with them. Finally, he said, “Have fun.” and opened the door to let them out.

After the two went out, Shen Huiming asked Suo Yang to sit down first and then sat beside him.

Suo Yang was actually a bit afraid. He felt like he might have a tendency towards irrational paranoia. Even while walking on the ice, he subconsciously imagined the ice cracking and them falling into the winter lake.

Shen Huiming sat down and handed a long stick with a sharp steel drill to Suo Yang, “Use this to stick on the ice, push it backwards, and we can slide forward.”

Suo Yang, who had never played before, found it novel, so he took it and stuck the sharp point on the ice.

“Yes, that’s it.” Shen Huiming held Suo Yang with one hand, and with the other hand holding the long stick, he stuck it on the ice, “I’ll count to three, two, one, and we’ll push together. “

“Wait a minute!” Suo Yang suddenly stopped.

“What’s wrong?” Shen Huiming asked him suspiciously.

Suo Yang looked at him and said, “Do you count three, two, one this time or three, one?”

Shen Huiming remembered his prank from the morning and leaned against him and laughed out loud, “Three to one, it’s three, two, one, this time I will definitely not mess with you.”

Suo Yang was relieved, nodded solemnly and said, “Okay, then you count.”

Shen Huiming held back a smile and finished counting ‘three, two, one’. The two of them pushed hard at the same time, and the ice sledge carried them out.

This feeling was quite different from rowing a boat. When rowing, it was more leisurely, with plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. However, sliding on the sledge was faster, and it provided a more thrilling and exciting experience.

At the very beginning, Suo Yang was a little scared. He held Shen Huiming tightly with his gloved hand, and his muscles were a little tense. He dared not relax at all, and the two of them held hands from beginning to end.

On his twenty-eighth birthday, Shen Huiming took him back to the time when he was eight years old.

In the twelfth lunar month of winter, regardless of the cold wind, even if their face was freezing and burning, they still kept laughing.

People who love each other would not only grow up together and grow old together but also unload all the baggage together to return to a carefree childhood.

As they glided across the ice, Suo Yang suddenly remembered the feeling of flying as a flight attendant for the first time, very free, very satisfying, carefree and at ease.

“I love you!” Suo Yang suddenly yelled forward as the ice sledge moved forward quickly.

Shen Huiming was taken aback for a moment, then turned to look at him in surprise.

Suo Yang held Shen Huiming’s hand tightly, and he shouted, “Shen Huiming! I love you!”

Chapter 44 – An Accident

The Donglin project was progressing smoothly. This coveted treasure land finally fell into White Crane’s hands, which surprised many people. On the day the construction began, Mr. Chu, who had always kept a low profile, was actually present in person, which attracted even more interest in the resort.

Ever since he found out that his son and Young Master Chu were together, Xu Ting had aged a lot a while, and his enthusiasm for the project had also faded. Apart from handling affairs in the company, he just enjoyed flowers and birds at home, and his relationship with his wife had gotten much better. Xu Ye went to the construction site almost every day for project construction matters. When he and his father met occasionally, they only talked about business matters, and both of them avoided talking about things that might cause conflicts.

That day, Zhou Jia called him and asked him to go home for dinner. Xu Ye was completely stunned when he saw Chu Yu at the dinner table.

The meal turned out to be unexpectedly harmonious. Zhou Jia was diligent in picking up the food while Xu Ting and Chu Yu were talking about business matters. Xu Ye seemed like an outsider, lowering his head to eat, but immediately slowed down when the man glanced at him.

After dinner, Chu Yu went into the study and talked with Xu Ting for about half an hour.

Xu Ye was leaning on the door like a gecko and eavesdropping. However, the soundproofing performance of the study was so good that not a single sound could come through. When the door opened, he had no time to hide. He staggered and almost fell but was held by Chu Yu. His face was hot, and he moved his arms grandly, “Uh, it’s a bit boring. I’m exercising my body…”

Xu Ting glanced at him and said, “You’ve got to be kidding.”

Chu Yu smiled faintly and said, “I’ll take my leave now, Uncle Xu and Auntie. I’ll come see you two when I have time.”

“Okay. Xu Ye, you can send Xiao Yu off for me.”

Xiaoxiaoxiao…Xiaoyu?! What’s up with the scary names ‘Uncle Xu’ and ‘Auntie’? Xu Ye stared at the familiar strangers before him with wide eyes, speechless and choked. After accompanying the man to the door, he finally couldn’t help but ask, “Master, what did you and my dad talk about?”

After a few steps, Chu Yu turned around, and a hint of a playful smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, “Want to know? Let me have a lot of fun tonight.” After saying that, he left, leaving Xu Ye standing with a red face.

That night, Xu Ye started out very excited, planning to get some information out of the situation. However, in the end, he ended up bound to the bed, blindfolded, and cried until the cloth covering his eyes soaked. He didn’t even have the strength to plead and barely remembered what he originally intended to do. He could only faintly recall his master holding him and whispering intoxicating words that made him want to listen to it over and over again.

In mid-November, Chu Yu’s birthday was approaching. Xu Ye managed to find some free time in his busy schedule and squeezed out a moment during lunch to have Leopard take him to the Huilong Building to buy a gift.

After carefully considering his options, Xu Ye finally decided to buy a necktie as a gift for Chu Yu. He thought that Chu Yu was not short of money and had seen plenty of luxurious and extravagant things. Instead of spending money on something flashy but impractical, he chose to give something more useful. Besides, Xu Ye couldn’t help but imagine how Chu Yu would look wearing the necktie he picked out, which made him blush. He selected a few ties that caught his eye, comparing them before ultimately choosing a handmade, deep blue tie with small silver diamond-shaped patterns.

In the afternoon, Xu Ye had to go to Donglin’s construction site. As the car was driving through the outskirts of the city, he was trying to relax with his eyes closed when suddenly, a sudden brake caused him to bump his head against the front seat headrest, and his vision momentarily blacked out.

The situation happened so suddenly that before he could react, he heard the Leopard’s urgent roar, “Lock the door and don’t come out!”

In a daze, Xu Ye saw Leopard rush out of the car and punch a man in black who was approaching, knocking him to the ground. However, two other men in black armed with iron rods soon rushed over. Shocked, he followed Leopard’s instructions and locked the doors, observing the situation outside, a growing sense of dread filling his heart.

Two vehicles in front blocked their car and surrounded by two more from behind, leaving them with no way out. Dozens of people emerged from these cars, all wielding thick, short iron bars, their faces filled with a menacing demeanour as they encircled the car like a lone boat in a storm.

Leopard fought against them with his bare hands and knocked down two of them in an instant. The murderous look in his eyes made him look like a real beast, roaring at the approaching enemy, revealing his white fangs. However, it was difficult for two fists to beat four hands, not to mention that these people were all robust fighters. Each of the blows he received broke his skin and made him bleed.

Several people gathered around and started to smash the car window glass with iron rods. Fortunately, the glass was very thick and could not be broken in a few hits. Those banging sounds made Xu Ye’s heart skip a beat every time. He tried to calm down in the panic, dialled a number with trembling fingers, and was connected almost instantly.

“Xu Ye.” Chu Yu’s voice came through.

“We are surrounded. I am in the car, and Leopard is outside the car. He is injured…” Xu Ye huddled in the middle of the back seat, his voice trembling because of panic. “Chu Yu, they are smashing the car.”

“Don’t be afraid. I know where you are. I will come to you soon; don’t be afraid.” Chu Yu’s voice remained steady and gentle, carrying a reassuring strength. “The car windows are bulletproof, and they won’t break for a while. Calm down and do as I say.”

Xu Ye took a deep breath, calmed down his emotions, and said, “…Okay.”

“There is a small electric baton under the car’s back seat. Take it out. If the window shatters, press the red electric shock button to deal with them.” The man was so calm that there were almost no ripples in his voice. “Listen carefully, Xu Ye, all your actions are in self-defence. Act quickly, and don’t show mercy. Do you understand?”

The sound of slamming the car window and every tremor of the vehicle filled Xu Ye with suffocating fear. He had never experienced anything like this before and was both anxious and terrified. It was not easy to maintain his composure. He glanced at the electric baton in his hand and then at the badly beaten Leopard surrounded by the assailants. Fear welled up in his eyes, making them moist. “If this continues, Leopard will be beaten to death by them… The glass seems to be about to shatter…”

“Do as I say and protect yourself.” The man tried his best to comfort him, “Just hold on a little longer; I’ll be there soon.” The man’s voice on the phone was calm and gentle, but Chu Yu, who was sitting in the car, had eyes as cold as ice. It was extremely cold as if they were filled with a raging blizzard that wanted to devour everything. A strong and chilling sense of oppression filled the long car cabin, making people suffocate as if their throats were strangled. It made Tang Can and Jian Haoping, who were making arrangements in the car, feel chilled all over.

The second young master was angry.

They exchanged a glance, and in each other’s eyes, they saw tension and pressure. Publicly, they held positions as executives in the Market Department of the Golden Eagle Group, but in secret, they were high-ranking cadres of the Black Eagle Organization, responsible for personnel deployment and management. The Black Eagle Organization had never disbanded; it had always been there. Just like the interplay of golden light and black shadows, the members with dual identities seamlessly transitioned between the two worlds, guiding the eagle as it soared through the skies.

When Leopard’s first-level emergency alert was received, Chu Yu was holding a regular meeting of high-level cadres. For a moment, the huge conference room almost froze. The Second Young Master said nothing, glanced at everyone in the conference room with his cold gaze, and then walked out quickly. At that moment, these fearless cadres felt like they had been skinned alive.

They all knew who Leopard was protecting.

Within half a minute, an emergency order to assemble manpower was issued, and all second-level and above Black Eagle members in K City and Donglin were notified to rush to the incident scene for reinforcements.

The long S5501Mercedes S550 was speeding along the road, followed by more and more vehicles. They quickly passed the red lights in front of them like a fearless school of fish rushing in the same direction.

Tang Can, and Jian Haoping’s minds were in a mess as they listened to the conversation between their Second Young Master and that man. The Second Young Master’s men were attacked under their noses, but they had yet to find out the other party’s identity, didn’t know their motives or reasons, and had received no prior warning or information. Their anxiety grew with each passing moment.

       Simply incompetent.

This would be more humiliating than giving each of them a slap in the face.

Their anxiety was in sharp contrast to Chu Yu’s calmness. However, they both know better than anyone else that the calmer the young master was, the more terrible the consequences would be.

Chu Yu’s grip on the phone tightened. The trembling voice on the other end of the phone transmitted Xu Ye’s fear, panic, helplessness, and forced composure. Every emotion tugged his heart, making him feel distressed and guilty.

He was too careless. His long life of ease and overconfidence in his prestige prevented him from even considering that a situation like this would arise. Leopard was the only one besides Xu Ye, and he was not equipped with any effective weapons at all. Under siege by many people, the worst result would be…

His heartbeat seemed to have stopped for a moment, and Chu Yu closed his eyes.

Because of his own negligence, he had put the person who should have been properly protected in danger.

       It was his fault.

Under the heavy impact of the steel pipe, the glass had cracked into a spiderweb-like shape. Leopard knocked down five people and was beaten until he was covered in blood. He leaned against the car door, blocking the broken window with his body, trying his best to keep those people away. His left hand was obviously broken, but he didn’t even grunt when the iron rod hit his body.

Xu Ye’s eyes turned red when he saw him risking his life to protect him. He tried his best to suppress the panic in his heart and asked on his mobile phone, “How long will it take?”

       “Three minutes.” Chu Yu replied.

“Three minutes…” he repeated unconsciously, his eyes falling on Leopard outside the car who was desperately protecting him, and he tightened his grip on the electric baton, trembling with every word he spoke, “Chu Yu, they’re after me, and I can’t just stand by and watch Leopard get killed.”

The Second Young Master, who had always maintained his composure, suddenly changed his expression and suddenly raised his voice, “Xu Ye! Don’t go out! Stay in the car, and don’t move!”

Tang Can and Jian Haoping were also surprised.

They heard a muffled sound from the other end of the phone, followed by shouts of “He’s out, catch him!”

“Xu Ye!” At that moment, Chu Yu felt like someone had a grip on his throat, leaving him gasping for breath with a sense of suffocation.

There was no response, just a loud, vague noise.

The finger bones of the man’s left hand holding the phone turned white, and his voice turned icy and ominous, “You must get there within one minute.”

Xu Ye knew in his heart that these people were coming for him, and Leopard was almost dying. As long as he came out, he would be able to lure them away.

He gritted his teeth and forcefully kicked open one of the car doors, knocking over the people who were blocking it. Although he had no fighting experience, his physical fitness was not bad, and his movements were quite agile. He used the electric baton to stun two people who approached him and then turned to sprint away. His intention was to lead them in pursuit to buy some time, but to his surprise, he received a harsh blow from behind, causing him to stumble, and he soon found himself surrounded by those people.

The group of people were afraid of the electric baton in his hand. After hesitating for a moment, they all pounced on him. Xu Ye had no way of guarding against so many people. In the chaos, the electric baton was snatched from his hand, and his body was pushed to the ground and beaten several times.

“Beat him to death!” Someone shouted those words, though it was unclear who.

Xu Ye felt a stick hit his head. He felt dizzy and fell to the ground, exhausted. In the blur, he saw Leopard rushing towards them, knocking them away and protecting him with his body.

All his senses became dull, and his vision went black for a while. A warm and sticky liquid flowed from the forehead to the eyelids, dyeing everything red.

Chu Yu, if you don’t come here, I will die…

Such thoughts popped into his confused mind.

The roar of the car engine comes from far to near.

Two gunshots rang through the air.

Screams rang out, and countless messy footsteps approached.

       Then, all was quiet.

There was a light movement on his body, and the man who was protecting him with his body was moved away. Xu Ye, in his dazed state, clung tightly to Leopard’s clothing, refusing to let go stubbornly. This was the person who had wholeheartedly protected him in times of danger, his sole reliance when he was left with no one else.

“Xu Ye, it’s me.” A low and familiar voice lingered in his ears from far to near.

He wanted to open his eyes, but his eyelids were stuck with blood, and there was only a hazy red colour, making it impossible to see anything clearly. Yet that voice was one he was familiar with and attached to. “…Chu Yu?” His voice trembled, and he uncertainly reached out to touch the person’s face.

“It’s me, I’m here.” His hand was held, and the man comforted him softly, “It’s okay, you’re safe.”

“Chu Yu…” The panic and helplessness were finally released at this moment. He called out his name tremblingly, “Save Leopard…he…” After being struck with the rods, he showed clear signs of a concussion, and his speech became laboured and intermittent.

“Don’t worry, a doctor is looking after him.” Chu Yu looked at Xu Ye, whose face was half stained with blood, and felt as if his heart had been pierced by a knife. Under the watchful eyes of hundreds of Black Eagle members who rushed over, he held the man in his arms as patiently and tenderly as he would caressing a lost animal. Xu Ye, who was placed on the mobile stretcher, reached out and grabbed his sleeves, with panic in his eyes, “Chu Yu…”

The strong attachment that appeared after being frightened came from a sense of insecurity. The man looked at him, feeling even more guilty. He held his hand and said, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here, and I’ll stay with you. Don’t think about anything else; just have a good rest.”

Xu Ye’s chest rose and fell irregularly as he gasped for breath a few times, and then he weakly closed his eyes. Doctors and nurses immediately approached, placing an oxygen mask on him and lifting him onto an ambulance to attend to his injuries. Chu Yu never let go of his hand, and just before getting into the ambulance, he uttered only some icy and bone-chilling words.

“Block the news. None of these people are allowed to die before I give my permission.”

By the time the police car arrived, the scene had been thoroughly cleaned. Jian Haoping brought everything to an end with an understatement of ‘traffic accident’. With so many personnel gathered, the abrupt gunfire, and the lingering bloodstains on the ground, it didn’t look like a traffic accident by any means. However, the other party’s identity was clear, and after so many years of cooperative development, the police knew when to turn a blind eye.

The eighteen people who attacked Xu Ye were all detained by the Black Eagle Organization. The command of ‘no death’ was sometimes much crueller than ‘kill them’. These eighteen thugs experienced this firsthand in the underground torture chamber of the Black Eagle Organization.

The head of the torture chamber, Tang Chan, personally participated in the interrogation.

Ignorance is bliss, and asking questions sometimes brings shocking revelations. When Tang Can emerged from the underground interrogation room, his face was as grim as it could be. He stood in the dimly lit corridor, lit a cigarette, and smoked it in silence, and only then did he start making his way upstairs.

The eighth team, fifth-level low-level members.

These guys were actually Black Eagle’s own people.

In the VIP ward of the hospital, Chu Yu, who was by the bedside, was silent for a while after listening to Tang Can’s briefing.

The leopard was sent directly to the operating room and had not come out yet. He suffered multiple fractures and ruptured internal organs, and his life was hanging on by a thread. If it weren’t for him stepping in to protect at a critical moment, they were afraid the person being rescued right now would be…

Chu Yu looked at Xu Ye, who fell asleep under the influence of the medicine. His head was wrapped in gauze, and the wound on his forehead required six stitches. The concussion caused by the heavy blow made him groggy, and he vomited several times. There were six or seven skin injuries on his body, but fortunately, none of them hurt his internal organs. At this moment, he was sleeping peacefully. The blood on his face had been wiped clean, and his face looked a little weak and pale. He seemed still uneasy in his dream, and his brows were slightly frowned.

The man walked to the window and said in a calm and cold tone, “Bring Song Yueran here.”

Chapter 57

Regarding the matter of staying overnight, Shen Huiming specifically asked for Suo Yang’s opinion. He was worried that Suo Yang might feel uncomfortable staying here.

However, Suo Yang agreed nonetheless, even though it would indeed be a bit awkward. But he understood that Shen Huiming’s parents meant well; it was snowing heavily outside. It would be quite troublesome for them to return so late at night.

Shen Huiming squeezed Suo Yang’s leg and said to him softly, “Thank you.”

       Suo Yang smiled, “For what?”

Shen Huiming shook his head with a smile, then set down the water glass and led Suo Yang into the bedroom to change clothes.

This bedroom was the one Shen Huiming used to live in before he moved out. He had moved when he was in his third year of high school, and now it had been over ten years. It could be said that Shen Huiming’s youthful memories had left their traces here.

Two sets of dark blue striped pyjamas were neatly laid out on the bed, which they noticed as soon as they entered.

The two of them changed their clothes in the bedroom, and after changing, Suo Yang looked at the certificates on the wall and smiled.

“They’ve all faded,” Shen Huiming sat beside him. “It’s been a long time.”

The wall was half-covered with awards that Shen Huiming had received during his school days. On the bookshelf, there was a section filled with red award certificates. Suo Yang could even imagine how much Shen Huiming had been favoured in school back then.

He looks handsome and excels in his studies, the typical ‘kid from someone else’s family1this refers to the kid the parents would always compare their children with, typically because this kid is better than theirs’.

Suo Yang said, “Auntie must be very proud of you.”

After all these years, these certificates and awards were still well-preserved, not a speck of dust even in the corners of the bookshelf.

He suddenly thought of his own room, the small bedroom in the old house in his hometown. He wondered if anyone had entered it again after he left.

“How should I put it…” Shen Huiming sat on the edge of the bed with Suo Yang, looking up at the awards posted on the wall. “Back then, I didn’t understand many things, didn’t think too much about it. I just knew that my parents were happy when they saw me come home with awards, and I wanted to make them happy. So, I worked hard to do better and win more awards. I thought that’s what they wanted, a sense of family pride, and I felt obligated to uphold it.”

Suo Yang turned to look at him.

“But as I grew up, I realized that what they truly wanted wasn’t just a stack of certificates and awards. ‘Family pride’ didn’t need to be maintained in this way,” Shen Huiming said. “As parents, what they most want to see is their child living well. Not in terms of how much money they earn, how many possessions they acquire, or how much fame and fortune they gain, but in terms of living the life they truly want, being with the person they genuinely love.”

Suo Yang listened to Shen Huiming’s words and looked down at his hands resting on his knees.

Shen Huiming stretched out his hand and put his warm palm on the back of Suo Yang’s cool hand.

“All parents are actually the same; it’s just that some of them need time to admit it,” Shen Huiming said. “Let’s go have dinner; my dad is waiting to have a drink with us.”

Suo Yang knew he was comforting him, so he reached out and shook his hand, smiling as he stood up.

“Let’s go, don’t make Uncle wait too long.”

====

Having dinner with Shen Huiming’s family initially made Suo Yang very nervous. However, once he immersed himself in the scene, it seemed like all the pressure dissipated along with the steam rising from the hotpot.

The four of them sat around the dining table in the cosy warmth of their home, all wearing pyjamas and relaxing their nerves.

This was their second meeting, and this time, there wasn’t the same cautiousness during their conversations. They ate more meat some vegetables, and had another glass of wine.

Suo Yang’s face quickly turned red, and he couldn’t quite tell if it was because of the heat, the alcohol, or maybe because Shen Huiming’s parents were so easygoing that it made him a bit shy.

The more time he spent with Shen Huiming’s family, the more he loved Shen Huiming.

A man who grew up in such a family atmosphere will always be kind and gentle in the deepest part of his heart.

Halfway through drinking, the topic turned to Suo Yang’s parents.

This time, Suo Yang didn’t evade the topic; he answered Shen Huiming’s mother’s questions before Shen Huiming could change the subject.

“My parents still don’t know that I’m together with Huiming,” Suo Yang said, gripping his chopsticks a little harder, trying to speak in a more relaxed tone. “I came out to my family a few years ago, but it didn’t go well. I didn’t handle it properly, so we didn’t have contact for several years.”

His words made everyone quiet for a few seconds, and it was Shen Huiming’s father who broke the silence first.

He said, “It’s not easy for the parents to accept when they are suddenly told about this. It took me and Auntie a long time to process it.”

Speaking of this, Shen Huiming actually felt uncomfortable. He knew that his parents had put in much more effort than he had when it came to dealing with this matter.

He considered himself lucky to have parents like them. Whenever something happened, they never blamed their child first; instead, they reflected on themselves first.

Even now, Shen Huiming remembered the day he came out to his parents. His mother was silent for a long time, and the first thing she said to him afterwards was, “I’m sorry, it’s been so long, and my mother didn’t notice it at all.”

At that time, his mother had asked him if hiding the secret for so many years had been painful, if he had been sad, and if he had felt conflicted. Shen Huiming, who rarely cried, had held his mother and cried loudly that day.

After that, he was liberated, but his parents had been caught in a difficult, sad, and conflicted situation. To avoid burdening their son, they even sought psychological counselling.

Parents like them were truly irreplaceable and hard to come by.

“You’ve all been through a lot, but it’s not easy for your parents too.” Shen Huiming’s father said, “Giving each other some time to cool down is good, but those emotional knots must be untangled sooner or later. Most importantly, don’t leave room for regrets.”

Suo Yang understood what he meant and held back tears as he said, “Thank you, Uncle.”

Shen Huiming’s mother took over and said, “Xiao Suo, if you want to come home, just come back with Huiming. Don’t hesitate to ask if there’s anything we can help with.”

Suo Yang felt that he was unworthy to receive such tenderness.

But because it was too rare and precious, he couldn’t refuse it.

He thought, ‘Let me be selfish this once. I know I don’t deserve it, but I’ll accept all this kindness.’

Once these topics were over, the atmosphere became light-hearted again.

Shen Huiming’s parents shared stories about Shen Huiming’s childhood, and his mom even mentioned, “I once went to have Huiming’s fortune told to find out when he could get married. The fortune teller at the time told me in a roundabout way that he might not get married in this life. I was so angry back then, thinking the fortune teller was a scam artist. But not long after, maybe six months later, Huiming told me he liked men. Well, the fortune teller was right!”

Suo Yang smiled and listened with delight.

Shen Huiming said helplessly, “Mom, how come I didn’t know about this?”

“Then can I let you know? There are many things you don’t know. What would happen if you knew them all?” Shen Huiming’s mom continued, “Later, I went to look for that fortune teller to apologize. After all, he had been quite accurate. But it turned out the fortune teller had retired and gone into seclusion in the mountains.”

“It would have been nice to know about this earlier,” Shen Huiming joked, “He should have told me when I would strike gold in my business.”

       His words made everyone laugh.

Because they didn’t plan to leave at night, Suo Yang and Shen Huiming accompanied their parents to drink openly. At the end of the night, Shen Huiming’s mother called a halt, urging everyone to go to wash up and go to bed.

Shen Huiming’s parents went to wash up first, leaving the two young men behind to tidy up.

Once everything was cleaned up, Shen Huiming said, “I still smell like hotpot.”

“Go take a shower first.” Suo Yang said, “I’ll wait for you.”

“No, let’s go together,” Shen Huiming teased with a smile.

Suo Yangming knew it was a joke, but his ears were still red.

It was not that the two of them hadn’t washed together, but after all, they were currently at Shen Huiming’s parents’ home, so they couldn’t be too bold.

Seeing that he was embarrassed, Shen Huiming put his arm around his shoulder and smiled, “Just kidding, you go first. I’ll talk to my mother for a while.”

Suo Yang nodded and went to take a shower.

Shen Huiming, who smelled like hot pot, went to chat with his mother, and the topic naturally revolved around Suo Yang.

Suo Yang came out soon after washing. When he saw those two people on the balcony, he hesitated whether to call Shen Huiming or not.

Fortunately, Shen Huiming saw him before he made a sound.

       “Done showering?”

Suo Yang nodded and then greeted Shen Huiming’s mother politely.

“Alright, I’ll go wash up now,” Shen Huiming said as he walked over, giving Suo Yang’s shoulder a light pat, “Would you like to chat with my mom for a while?”

“Me?” Suo Yang was a little surprised.

       “Yeah, go ahead.”

Shen Huiming went into the bathroom, leaving Suo Yang and his mother in the living room.

Suo Yang walked over and took a shawl from the sofa, offering it to Shen Huiming’s mom, “Auntie, it’s cold on the balcony.”

Shen Huiming’s mom smiled and wrapped herself in the shawl, saying, “You’re such a considerate child.”

Suo Yang couldn’t quite tell whether he was a considerate person or not. From a young age, he had worked hard to be an obedient and considerate child. However, on the day he left home, his mom’s final words to him were, “Why are you so inconsiderate?”

“I chatted with Huiming just now.” Shen Huiming’s mother looked out of the window. In the middle of the night, the snow fell even harder. “He said that tomorrow is your birthday.”

“Yes, the last day of the year.”

“It’s your birthday, and you’re a year older.” Shen Huiming’s mother looked at him with a smile, “Auntie just found out about this, and I didn’t even have time to prepare a gift for you.”

“Please, no need for the trouble. It’s already my honour to spend today with Huiming.”

“You see, you won’t let me be troubled, but you’re still so polite when talking to me.” She smiled at Suo Yang. “Uncle and I were introduced by colleagues at work at that time. We met, got to know each other a bit, and then decided to start a relationship leading to marriage. Back then, we didn’t have a grand love story. It developed as we spent more time together. For a lasting relationship, there are many factors to consider. Your lives are probably more challenging than we can imagine, but Uncle and I both believe that your choices have been well thought out. Neither of you is the type to make impulsive decisions.”

Suo Yang nodded, “Yes Auntie, we take our relationship seriously. We understand that matters of the heart are not to be taken lightly.”

“Yes, I believe in both of you. In the future, if you face any difficulties or troubles in life or work, come and talk to us. This place is your home too.”

Chapter 43 – Drunk

After signing the contract and walking out of Golden Eagle’s building, several project department members instantly got excited as if they had won a jackpot. They lost all their pretence of being reserved and surrounded Xu Ye to ask questions in a variety of ways.

“I heard that Second Young Master Chu is very picky. But this time, he actually praised our design so favourably, it’s simply too surprising!”

“Wanhua’s design is definitely not as good as ours.”

“That’s right, with Golden Eagle investment, I feel more confident.”

“Mr. Xu, you don’t know. Zhou Wei just said that he planned to sacrifice her looks to seduce General Manager Chu, hahahaha…”

      “Damn it! I was joking!”

“Aren’t you the one who keeps saying how handsome you are with your eyes straight?”

“Where is our General Manager Xu?” The female staff member named Zhou Wei turned to him, “By the way, what on earth did Mr. Xu convince him to do?”

The corner of Xu Ye’s mouth twitched. The feeling of having been penetrated still lingered, and his waist was also sore. This ‘persuasion’ method made him blush when he thought about it, so he changed the subject and said, “Everyone has been working hard lately. Since the contract is signed, let’s celebrate together tonight. My treat.”

This time, it was a complete explosion, and they all proposed to eat expensive and good food until Mr. Xu’s wallet was empty.

Xu Ye was also very happy and simply let them make trouble. After drinking some wine during dinner, he planned to leave first but was held back by the group, so he had to follow them to the bar to continue celebrating.

Zhou Wei, the deputy project manager, was twenty-nine years old. She had been with the White Crane group for three years and had always admired this young master. It was a rare opportunity to be so close to him this time, so she pretended to be drunk and leaned softly on his shoulder. Xu Ye was startled and reached out to help her, but she hooked her arm very naturally. The woman’s long chestnut hair hung on her shoulders, and her every breath was filled with a warm and soft fragrance.

“Zhou Wei?” He shook her gently. She let out a vague hum and moved her whole body closer to him.

The rest of the staff were already drunk and staggering around. Young Master Xu, known for his gentlemanly demeanour, would surely personally escort her home. He also drank a lot. If she took the initiative tonight, they might be able to spend a passionate night together. With such thoughts in mind, Zhou Wei was still unwilling to wake up, so she just hugged Xu Ye and pretended to be drunk.

In the end, after a phone call, it was his secretary Lily who got into the taxi home with her.

“Okay, stop pretending.” Lily, who was called out temporarily to give him away, sneered with a dark look on her face, “This trick of yours won’t work on him.”

Zhou Wei was so angry that she turned to look out the window and said, “Mind your own business.”

Lily sneered and said, “He already has someone in mind. I advise you not to make any trouble.”

“Who is it?” Zhou Wei’s eyes widened.

“It’s not you anyway.” Lily glanced at her and said nothing. She knew exactly what to say and what not to say.

After sending these worried subordinates home, Xu Ye, who came out of the bar, stood on the side of the road and folded his collar. His eyes fell on the black Mercedes parked opposite, and he smiled widely.

The man had come to pick him up personally.

After opening the car door and getting in, Chu Yu, in the back seat, turned to look at him.  Xu Ye, who had been drinking, had a vague smile on his face. He hugged the man, rubbed his head against his chest, and said in a daze, “I drank too much.”

Such a reaction amused Chu Yu, and he asked, “So?”

“Well…” He tilted his head and thought seriously, then narrowed his eyes and said, “Tonight, you belong to this great me.”

“Oh?” The man’s thin lips formed a nice curve, “So, what are you going to do to me?”

Xu Ye grinned, stretched out his fingers to pull at the other person’s clothes buttons, and said, “As long as you are good, this great me will take good care of you tonight.” He had a domineering look on his face.

Chu Yu chuckled softly and said to the driver, xiao Ou, who was stunned by the conversation, “Drive the car to the river.” Xiao Ou was sharp, so he naturally knew what the second young master wanted to do. He drove the car to a secluded spot by the riverside and discreetly left the vehicle to give them some privacy.

Xu Ye fumbled for a long time without unbuttoning a single button of his shirt. With a look of displeasure on his face, he tugged hard and pulled the shirt open, causing the buttons to fall off. Chu Yu didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. He lay down on the spacious back seat and let him make a mess of it. He even took the initiative to lie down, looking indulgent.

“You are mine.” On the moonless night, Xu Ye’s eyes looked like magnificent black pearls. He leaned down and kissed the man beneath him, lingeringly and passionately. He kissed until he was almost out of breath before breaking apart. He lowered his head and licked the nipples of the other person’s chest, imitating what Chu Yu had done to him, leaving his own mark on the man’s tight body little by little. Like a gluttonous puppy, he went all the way down, unhooked the man’s belt, took off the inner and outer layers of pants, and kissed all the way to the lush jungle between the other person’s legs. Then he raised his head, showing a confused expression.

“Have you forgotten what to do next?” Chu Yu stroked his head, straightened his lower body slightly and said, “I’ll teach you. Open your mouth and take it.”

Xu Ye followed his instructions almost instinctively, taking the slightly ferocious and huge c0ck into his mouth and carefully pleasuring it. After taking it for a while, he realised something was wrong and ducked away angrily, saying, “Not this!”

The man smiled and sat up, holding him on his lap face to face, binding his hands with a belt, then rummaged for a bottle of lubricant, squeezed it on his fingertips, and inserted it into the small opening that had been warmed at noon. The remaining consciousness in Xu Ye’s head knew what would happen next. He twisted and struggled restlessly, “I want to be on top…”

“Aren’t you on top now?” The smile in Chu Yu’s eyes was full of danger.

“No, ngh…” Xu Ye looked aggrieved, like a child who had been robbed of candy.

“What’s wrong?” After the expansion was completed, the man picked him up and pressed the top of his c0ck against the hole between the two buttocks. Then he relaxed his strength little by little and let him sit down slowly with his weight.

“Aahh—it hurts…” When the whole thing was inserted, the body’s weight made the giant thing penetrate deeper, and the hole was stretched to the limit. Xu Ye gasped, leaned into Chu Yu’s arms, and sobbed, “It’s uncomfortable… I don’t want this… I want to be on top…”

“Be good. You’ll be fine in a moment.” The man stroked his back and kissed his lips, suppressing the surging pleasure and waiting for him to adapt.

Everything happened naturally. Xu Ye’s waist was tightly controlled by strong hands. He was moved up and down, again and again. He was forced to taste the hot and solid iron c0ck with his small mouth below. They had already had a round of sex at noon, and now he was weak and had no strength, so he could only let the man invade him as he wished. After that, he completely sobered up and cried for mercy, “Master… it’s going to break, wooo… I don’t want it anymore… I can suck it in my mouth for you… please… ahh…”

There were many ways to play in a small space. Xu Ye was forced to change several positions to withstand the man’s fierce attack. When the man’s hot essence shot into his body again, Xu Ye, who had climaxed at the same time, lay helpless on Chu On Yu’s body, his long eyelashes were half-closed, as if he was about to fall asleep. Chu Yu caressed the back of his neck, kissed his tears away, licked his lips like a satiated cat, and said dotingly, “I am yours.”

The result of provoking Second Young Master Chu was spending the entire morning in bed. Thinking of the ambiguous car sex last night, Xu Ye was so ashamed that he almost wanted to find a crack in the ground and crawl into it. He had just had sex at noon and then went to the car to ask for sex at night. This was just…hurting his brain.

He went downstairs holding his waist and saw the man sitting on the sofa in the living room. He was shocked, “…Why are you here?”

Chu Yu put down the presentation in his hand and asked in return, “Is it strange for me to be in my own home?”

“I thought you went to work.” He explained as he blushed, “I really drank too much last night…”

“Are you using such excuses to intend on abandoning me after starting this?” The man looked at him with a smile, “Last night, you told me in my ears that I was yours.”

“…” Xu Ye was confused. What did he do yesterday?!

“Come here.” The man asked him to lie on his lap and gently rubbed his waist. “Your stamina is too low. From now on, swim two evenings a week. That way, when I hold you, both of us can enjoy it more.”

Xu Ye nodded with a blushing face.
