       Chen Yuncheng stared at the small and exquisite ring box on the dining table in a daze.

       The dinner was a steak fried by Ning Junyan, accompanied by red wine. If a candle was lit in the middle of the table, it would really have that kind of vibe.

       When Chen Yuncheng woke up the next morning, he saw that Ning Junyan hadn’t woken up yet. He rarely saw Ning Junyan sleeping in. Ning Junyan had probably drunk too much last night.

       He went out to buy breakfast for Ning Junyan and came back. He sat alone at the dining table for a while, thinking that he didn’t know how to face Ning Junyan later, so he packed up early and went out.

       This awkward atmosphere continued under the stalemate between the two.

       The beer in Ning Junyan’s hand was taken out of the refrigerator, and the can was still covered with cold mist. He raised his hand and pressed the beer can to Chen Yuncheng’s face, saying, “I will stop before I get drunk. I do not want to hurt you.”

       Chen Yuncheng was obviously worried that Ning Junyan would do something to him just now, but he still said, “You will not hurt me.”

       Ning Junyan slowly slid down the hand holding the beer and pressed the cold body of the can to Chen Yuncheng’s neck.

       When Long Zhanyu took Guan An Lin in to make a statement, Chen Yuncheng did not rush to leave, instead, he squatted at the door of the police station, and slowly finished the cigarette in his hand.

       He was not addicted to smoking, nor did he actually like how the cigarette tasted, just that he was in a trance thinking that Ning Junyan must not like the taste.

       After waiting for almost half an hour, Guan Anlin came out from inside. He walked in front of Chen Yuncheng with a gloomy face, without saying a word.

       Chen Yuncheng’s feet were numb from squatting for so long, so he stood up and said to him, “Something happened to Zhou Yan.”

       Guan Anlin found his words inexplicable and could only assume he was drunk, but he felt uneasy and left the driver his number so that he could contact him if Chen Yuncheng passed out from drunk.

       Chen Yuncheng was not so drunk that he was unconscious, he just had something on his mind. After drinking all night, he always felt that being drunk could solve his worries, but in fact, it didn’t work well. He sat in the back seat with his eyes closed, and his heart was still stuffy and uncomfortable.

       Ning Junyan was about to close the book that was spread out on his lap, but when he heard him call him, he paused in his movements.

       Ning Junyan asked, “Do you think you are responsible?”

       Chen Yuncheng didn’t answer, he just said, “I didn’t say anything at the time because I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to borrow the money successfully and make him happy for nothing. Or maybe it would have been fine if I hadn’t given him the message that the police were investigating them and had them just arrest him that day.”

       Ning Junyan listened quietly, watching the redness on his face gradually spread to his ears.

       Chen Yuncheng was a little emotional, “Just like Guan Anlin, I thought I could help him at that time, but it turned out that I couldn’t help anything.” After he finished speaking, he bent down as if in pain, kneeling on the edge of the bed and curling his whole body up.

       “I’m reluctant.” Chen Yuncheng opened his eyes and looked at the ceiling blankly, “But I don’t have money, so I can’t feed us both.”

       Ning Junyan asked him, “Then come and pick me up when you grow up, okay?”

       Chen Yuncheng was stunned for a long time, not knowing what to answer.

       Ning Jun extended his hand to touch his reddened ears, “Now that I have enough money to support both of us, no one can force us to steal and no one can beat you, can I not leave?”

       The two of them walked to the parking lot yard in front of the police station. The air here was much better than inside.

       Long Zhanyu said, “On the night when we first arrested Zhang Wenyong, Zhou Yan went to see Zhang Wenyong. It was you who gave him the slip at that time, right?”
