Chapter 29 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 29

After clarifying the specific situation with Yu Qingcang, Lu Jingning ended the communication. Seizing the opportunity while no one was paying attention, he pulled Yan Hebin aside and asked in a hushed voice, “Yan, do you remember the terrain near Building E on the west side of our school?”

Yan Hebin didn’t understand why he suddenly asked this but nodded hesitantly, “Yes, what’s the matter?”

Lu Jingning was overjoyed and quickly set up a temporary modeling system on his terminal to create a simple representation. He asked, “Look, if we get trapped in this area, is there a way we can evacuate through another route?”

Yan Hebin glanced at him and casually adjusted the virtual model, pointing to the left, “Building E is linked to the adjacent Building F through an aerial platform system that is not used much, so it’s easily overlooked. But if the routes on the upper and lower levels are blocked, we should be able to escape through this system. However, there’s one thing, the floating platform is usually retracted at the top of Building F. I’ve only heard about it and I’m not sure how to activate it.”

Lu Jingning exclaimed, “That’s enough! Thanks, buddy!”

Yan Hebin noticed Lu Jingning’s eager expression and vaguely sensed that something was off, “What’s going on? Are you planning to go out?”

Lu Jingning feigned a worried look and spread his hands, “I have no choice; my son is trapped outside, and I have to go out and find him.”

Yan Hebin was speechless, “Son?”

Lu Jingning continued, “A big, tall, and foolish son. If he survives this ordeal, I’ll introduce him to you!”

Yan Hebin’s lips twitched slightly, “No thanks.”

Realizing it was not the time for idle chatter, Lu Jingning didn’t say much and glanced at where An Huo was. He then pulled Yan Hebin’s shoulder and said, “One more thing, could you help me with something?”

Yan Hebin replied, “Hmm?”

For some reason, he had an intuitive feeling that this wasn’t going to be something good.

Due to An Huo’s vigilance at the entrance, it was impossible for Lu Jingning to leave in such a conspicuous manner. Even if he came up with a compelling reason to go out, they wouldn’t allow a freshman to take risks at such a critical moment.

Thus, he had to sincerely implore Yan Hebin for help.

Yan Hebin owed Lu Jingning a significant favor from their previous incident involving the Mecha Club. Being someone who repaid kindness, he found himself unable to refuse, even though he wore a strange expression. He walked over and tried to divert the attention of a certain senior sister.

When An Huo saw Yan Hebin suddenly approaching, she felt something was off, “What’s the matter, junior brother? Do you need anything?”

With one eye on Lu Jingning’s location, he received a signal from the other party and suddenly cleared his throat, struggling to force out a seductive tone, “Senior sister, are you interested in my pheromones?”

Such words were full of allurement and, under normal circumstances, he probably wouldn’t have dared to say them out loud.

An Huo clearly didn’t expect him to make such a move and was momentarily stunned, “Huh?”

Yan Hebin’s face was almost burning, but it had come to this point, and he had no choice but to bite the bullet, “What I mean is, senior sister, how do you feel about me?”

This time, An Huo couldn’t even utter an “ah.”

Though Lu Jingning had improvised this technique in a playful manner, he couldn’t help but chuckle at Yan Hebin’s iceberg-like allure. After seeing his successful reaction, he took advantage of An Huo’s momentary confusion and, in a flash, slipped away through a side door.

As he left the airspace, the deafening sounds of explosions outside became clearer. Lu Jingning, now acting alone, reduced his target size compared to when they were in a group. After a few glances at the sky, he quickly assessed the current distribution of enemy firepower.

Taking a deep breath, he concentrated his psychic energy and enhanced his leg strength, then moved with incredible speed.

Lu Jingning’s movement speed was impressive, and in no time, he was close to the E building, where Yu Qingcang and the others were being held captive.

As described earlier, the lower half of the building was riddled with bullet holes, and the upper section was engulfed in raging flames, looking like it could collapse at any moment.

The only silver lining was that the battle had shifted towards another direction due to the intense fighting, leaving some space for future actions.

Lu Jingning didn’t focus on the E building and turned around, heading directly for the relatively intact F building.

The aerial platform Yan Hebin had mentioned, capable of accommodating hundreds of people, was docked quietly on the rooftop of the F building. Previously, it was mainly used for leadership inspections and visits, and no one would have thought that it would be used for a rescue operation one day.

The plan seemed foolproof, but sometimes things didn’t go as expected. When Lu Jingning reached the top floor, he was unexpectedly stumped by an AI intelligent password command.

Lu Jingning couldn’t help but be speechless, “AI, can’t you be more accommodating? This is a life-and-death situation!”

The AI intelligence was as unyielding as ever, “To activate the rescue platform, please connect to the fire system within the building. It’s not under my jurisdiction.”

Lu Jingning gritted his teeth, “Do you believe I’ll dismantle you after this?”

The AI intelligence responded, “If threats worked, we wouldn’t need the interstellar police. You’re too naive.”

Lu Jingning exclaimed, “Damn it!”

He resisted the urge to dismantle the stubborn AI on the spot and was pondering whether such actions would be effective against the AI. Suddenly, he heard footsteps behind him.

When he turned around, he found himself face to face with Wen Xingchen.

Both of them were taken aback for a moment before almost simultaneously asking, “What are you doing here?”

The sudden air raid left no time for them to worry about others’ situations, or it might be more accurate to say that, in such a life and death situation, it was a blessing to ensure their own safety, let alone concerning themselves with others. So, if Yu Qingcang hadn’t contacted them to say goodbye, Lu Jingning probably wouldn’t have considered contacting anyone at all.

However, now that they ran into each other face to face, it was a different situation.

In the next moment, they almost simultaneously asked, “Anyone injured?”

The question slipped out, and Lu Jingning couldn’t help but laugh, “Alright, alright, the injured won’t come running here.”

Seeing Yan Hebin’s soaked clothes, he gestured to him, “So, are you here for the same thing?”

Wen Xingchen nodded, “Jian Luan is trapped. I came to check on him.”

Lu Jingning didn’t know what to say. Both Yu Qingcang and Jian Luan were troublesome characters, and he admired Wen Xingchen for worrying about them like this, just like he did with

his father.

Unfortunately, both of them were Alphas; otherwise, it would have been quite fitting to have a story of destined love or something like that.

As he had these thoughts, he casually asked, “You got the password then? This AI is a blockhead and won’t allow any exceptions without a password.”

The AI intelligence chimed in, “You’re pig headed too!”

Lu Jingning couldn’t bear it anymore, “Do you think I won’t dismantle you?!”

AI intelligence retorted, “If threats were effective, there wouldn’t be any need for interstellar police. You’re too naive.”

Lu Jingning grumbled, “Ugh!”

Seeing him argue with the AI at a time like this, Wen Xingchen couldn’t help but be in awe of his courage. He lightly patted Lu Jingning’s shoulder to signal him to move aside and then entered a series of codes on the nearby panel.

AI intelligence responded, “Welcome to activate the Sky Platform System, which will provide you with an entirely new sightseeing experience. I wish you a pleasant journey.”

Lu Jingning was stunned, “How did you get the password?”

Wen Xingchen had already stepped into the platform and looked back, “Aren’t you coming?”

Lu Jingning, seeing his outstretched hand, smiled slightly and unceremoniously accepted the offer, jumping up alongside him, “Lao Wen, you’re reliable!”

As the two of them operated the aerial platform, it descended onto the connecting platform of Building E. The teachers and students who had escaped death were overcome with tears of joy.

Many people inevitably got injured during their escape, but at this moment, a new glimmer of hope appeared on their previously lifeless faces.

When Yu Qingcang saw Lu Jingning, he rushed over wailing and tightly embraced him, “Daddy Lu, you really came!”

Lu Jingning struggled to break free from the bear hug, nearly passing out from the pressure, but seeing Yu Qingcang’s lively appearance brought joy to his heart. He patted his shoulder heavily and said, “Good son, when we get back, I want to eat braised pig’s trotters!”

Yu Qingcang ingratiated himself, “Sure, I’ll prepare a potful for you!”

After everyone successfully transferred to the platform, they began their slow return along the original route.

Beyond the transparent barrier, fires raged, and deafening explosions filled the air. Gradually, the jubilant atmosphere gave way to silence.

As they witnessed the scene of fiery warfare, they couldn’t help but fall into a state of contemplation.

Lu Jingning leaned against the transparent barrier, his gaze fixed on the mother ship in the sky. For a long time, he remained silent.

From this angle, the view was vastly different from observing under the anti-air zone. The perspective was now lateral, magnifying the details several times. He could even discern the faint blue energy beams gathering at the bottom of the mother ship, as if… as if they were charging up!

A sudden realization flashed in Lu Jingning’s mind, causing his blood to momentarily freeze. At that moment, an undeniable sense of coldness washed over him.

Wen Xingchen noticed his abnormality and looked over, his tone surprisingly calm, “It seems you’ve noticed too.”

When Lu Jingning turned to meet his gaze, he saw the same shock in Wen Xingchen’s eyes.

Noticing the glance from Yu Qingcang beside them, Lu Jingning calmed down, “Can you contact the command center?”

If they managed to obtain the password for the aerial platform, it meant Wen Xingchen had at least communicated with the mid-to-high level management.

Wen Xingchen nodded, “I can try.”

As Yu Qingcang was bewildered by their cryptic conversation, his recent experience left him still feeling dizzy, making him uninterested in probing further. Some matters were best left for these two bigshots to handle, and he didn’t want to get involved needlessly.

After descending from the aerial platform, the medical team, who had received prior notice, was already waiting below, efficiently conducting the safe transfer.

Relieved to see things settled, Lu Jingning sighed in relief. However, his relief was short-lived as Wen Xingchen approached with a serious expression. Lu Jingning couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong?”

Wen Xingchen furrowed his brows slightly, “Communications have been jammed since a moment ago, most likely due to interference.”

Lu Jingning glanced at his communicator and confirmed that he could no longer receive any signals.

It seemed that the enemy had entered the final phase of their preparations.

Wen Xingchen asked, “I’m going to the central command. Are you coming with me?”

Lu Jingning thought for a moment, “I’ll stay here.”

His response was indeed unusual, and Wen Xingchen looked at him with suspicion, “What do you plan to do?”

Lu Jingning stared back at him with a strange expression, “What can I do?”

“Better that way,” Wen Xingchen assessed his demeanor, still uneasy, and before leaving, he reminded, “I’ll be right back. Wait for me in the safe zone.”

“Hurry back!” Lu Jingning waved him off, watching Wen Xingchen’s figure receding into the distance. Finally, he couldn’t help but raise an intriguing smile, murmuring, “What’s there to wait for? Naive! Of course, I have my own plan!”

In reality, he didn’t think that the intelligence even the two of them, as school students, could uncover would have gone unnoticed by the command center’s experienced personnel. However, informing them was still a necessary precaution.

On the other hand, if the military had indeed noticed the enemy’s intentions but still refrained from taking action, it indicated a high possibility that they were unsure how to handle the situation.

The blue energy level’s charging had already reached a considerable magnitude, and in terms of destructiveness, a single explosive discharge could easily obliterate ten Imperial Navy fleets.

Given the ad hoc composition of the operation and their current control over the battlefield, successfully intercepting such a self-destructive energy source would be virtually impossible.

Lu Jingning had heard countless stories of heroes, but he never considered dying young. His father was still waiting for him to pay his respects back home; he couldn’t just give up so easily.

Thus, in the face of the uncertainty surrounding the school and military authorities, he could only contemplate executing his own little plan.

Looking around, he casually grabbed a member of the medical team and asked, “Excuse me, do you know where the Omega students from the dormitory building were relocated to?”

After a moment’s thought, the person pointed in a direction, “You mean those Omegas? They were sent to the No. 23 anti-air zone over there, I believe.”

Lu Jingning glanced in that direction.

As expected, the view revealed a tumultuous scene of fire and explosions.

For some reason, the interstellar pirates seemed particularly interested in that area. Numerous mini-bomber planes hovered above, heavily guarded. They had seemingly taken full control of the vicinity.

A knowing smile formed on Lu Jingning’s lips as he murmured with great interest, “So it’s the Pruxians, huh? Quite the fascinating hobby they have…”

Chapter 28 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 28

The mecha society was engulfed in a fierce battle of practical combat operations. Lu Jingning huddled up with Yan Hebin, and from the sidelines, he couldn’t help but make comments: “This mecha is actually quite good, but the operator’s performance is lousy. I really suspect they are deliberately holding back for dramatic effect. Look, look, the ballistic trajectory at such a close range missed again.”

Yan Hebin, after enduring Lu Jingning’s complaints for a while, couldn’t help but speak up: “It’s tactical cover. Didn’t you notice how the exploding smoke effectively obstructed the opponent’s vision?”

Lu Jingning dismissed it with a scoff: “Cover my foot! If they were real men, they’d just charge in!”

Yan Hebin: “…”

You make a good point, and I can’t argue with you.

As another missile was launched, the entire battlefield erupted in a dazzling display of fireworks, evoking an exclamation of awe from everyone: “Wow!”

Lu Jingning enthusiastically joined in with a “Wow” before he could say anything else. However, the entire combat scene was suddenly shrouded in flashing red lights, accompanied by blaring alarm sounds.

Lu Jingning paused for a moment, the playful expression in his eyes gradually fading away, “What’s going on?”

Despite his usual unserious demeanor, Lu Jingning grew up in a family of military background. Having witnessed surprise attacks while wandering with Lu Kongbin during his childhood, he quickly reacted to the situation.

Yan Hebin’s tone turned serious: “It’s a red alert.”

Others might not have reacted as quickly, but after a moment of confusion, they gradually regained their composure, though still somewhat panicked.

Lu Jingning didn’t have time to delve into Yan Hebin’s unusually composed attitude and quickly surveyed the surroundings. He spotted An Huo, who was still standing in place, and shouted loudly, “Senior Sister, snap out of it! Organize the members and evacuate safely!”

Though uncertain of what was happening, they knew that a red alert was the highest level of crisis warning. Even a one-second delay could result in significant casualties.

An Huo was immediately reminded by his words and quickly organized the staff members to gather and move towards the safe zone.

Yu Zeyang seemed well-prepared. At the first sign of the alarm, he quickly arranged a temporary passageway, and upon seeing Lu Jingning’s decisive response, he glanced at him before immersing himself into the emergency command.

Most members respected and feared Yu Zeyang’s fierceness, so they followed his evacuation orders without daring to take a deep breath, maintaining a smooth and orderly progress.

As Lu Jingning and Yan Hebin passed by Yu Zeyang, he suddenly spoke up again, “You two Omegas better stick with the main group and not act alone, understand?”

Lu Jingning gave him a direct eye roll, expressing his inner thoughts.

“…” Yu Zeyang was irritated by his attitude but didn’t have time to argue further. He sternly said, “In times like this, you must follow orders! Hurry and go!”

Both of them followed the other members of the mecha society through the safe passage.

After walking for a while, Yan Hebin couldn’t help but look back at Lu Jingning and asked with some concern, “You wouldn’t really be planning to do something reckless, right?”

Lu Jingning was speechless for a moment. “What are you saying? Am I the kind of person who causes trouble at critical moments? I was just teasing him!”

Compared to others, he perhaps understood better the consequences of acting like a hero in an inappropriate situation. In military terms, Lu Kongbin had practically drilled it into him through punches and kicks.

Yan Hebin seemed surprised by Lu Jingning’s unexpectedly calm and composed response, and he said, “That’s good.”

Finally, they reached the open area.

The radiance of the stars instantly spread around them, but in that moment of expanded vision, a loud explosion tore through the air, stunning everyone.

Startled by the direction of the explosion, they saw the teaching building they had recently attended classes in now under intense bombardment. Faculty members were actively evacuating, but many were still trapped inside, and cries for help and screams echoed in the air.

The assault, however, continued relentlessly.

Lu Jingning looked up to the sky and saw an ancient, enormous black spacecraft seemingly materializing out of thin air, ominously hovering above the Imperial Navy University.

The blood-red skull pattern on the hull was striking and seemed to stimulate everyone’s vision, like a nightmare invading their minds.

Someone nearby exclaimed, “Oh my god, it’s the interstellar pirates!”

After that voice, others seemed to awaken one after another.

“This emblem belongs to the Eastern Star System, the Wartorn Clan!”

“I remember hearing that during the joint operation, it was actually the Patrol Team that infiltrated the enemy’s camp and eliminated the leaders!”

“They’re retaliating! These pirates must be seeking revenge!”

“So, they’ve come to find the Imperial Navy Patrol Team?”

“But didn’t they say the entire Wartorn Clan was wiped out? Why are there still so many of them?”

“Oh god, are we going to be caught in the crossfire?”

In the midst of anxious discussions, fear spread, and voices grew louder. Some even began to wail, “Those interstellar pirates were already lawless. This time, they won’t spare us!”

Most of the students present were freshmen and sophomores who hadn’t experienced a real war. Placed suddenly on the frontline of the battlefield, all the knowledge they were taught in class disappeared under the overwhelming tension.

Lu Jingning couldn’t help but turn his head to look at his anxious classmates. He couldn’t help but smirk.

Remembering not long ago when the members of the Imperial Navy Patrol Team returned to the campus as heroes, welcomed and adored by countless fans, he found the scene quite ironic now.

Amidst the chaotic gunfire, a high-energy laser beam exploded nearby, leaving a large hole in the ground, completely blocking their path.

The moving group had to come to a halt, and panic spread through the crowd.

Seeing that the interstellar pirates’ reconnaissance ship had detected their movement, a series of dazzling beams shot out from the side, intercepting the incoming fire and slicing a small warship in half at close range.

Lu Jingning turned to look and saw a massive new-type mecha emerging from behind the teaching building. The person in the c0ckpit had stunning and flamboyant curly hair. Despite the critical moment, she even took the time to open the c0ckpit door and blew a kiss at the startled crowd, “Keep moving forward, sweethearts. Let the combatants handle this place.”

Lu Jingning: “…”

Such show-offs.

Some people, however, seemed to fall for it and couldn’t help but scream in excitement, “Go, Senior Sister Kang Hanyun!”

Kang Hanyun from the Imperial Navy Patrol Team winked playfully. As the c0ckpit door closed, the light whip in her mecha’s hand swiftly wrapped around a low-flying warship, slamming it heavily onto the ground.

The resulting explosion and debris sent an electric current through their hearts, briefly raising their spirits.

Seeing someone stepping up to protect them, An Huo didn’t waste any more time and raised his voice, “All staff members, clear the way ahead! Other members, keep following me, stay close, and don’t get separated!”

The previously obstructed group finally started moving again.

Perhaps inspired by Kang Hanyun’s motivation, everyone felt a little more reassured. Some even noticed Lu Jingning and Yan Hebin at the back of the group and deliberately came closer to joke, “Ah, no wonder the vice president reminded you. You two Omegas really need to be careful! I heard that those interstellar pirates from the Eastern Star System, the Pu Stars, are particularly obsessed with Omega pheromones. They used to capture a few Omegas and take them back to have some fun. If you accidentally fall into their hands, they might really suck you dry!”

Lu Jingning gave the person a deadpan look, “Oh? How about I demonstrate how I can suck you dry right here and now?”

The person was clearly taken aback by Lu Jingning’s suggestive remark and looked shocked, “Are you really an Omega? Why do you speak like that?”

Lu Jingning smiled mysteriously, “Just talking doesn’t mean anything. I wonder if you want to give it a try?”

“…” The person felt embarrassed, his face alternating between red and white, and then he walked away dejectedly.

At that moment, the group finally reached the entrance of the anti-aircraft area. After entering the code and opening the metal door, everyone heaved a sigh of relief.

The anti-aircraft area was an underground space with a one-way transparent material for the ceiling, extremely sturdy and capable of withstanding several high-intensity artillery attacks.

Once they settled in, everyone, still feeling a little shaken, observed the increasingly intense battle scenes outside. It was the first time for most of them to be so close to a real war, and it was understandably overwhelming.

This was no simulation they had experienced in class; this was real warfare!

Lu Jingning found a spot to sit down lazily, leaning against the wall. His eyes flickered with an inscrutable gleam as he watched the intense battles outside.

Yan Hebin noticed the seriousness in his expression and approached him, asking, “What’s wrong? Did you notice something?”

Lu Jingning furrowed his brow, “I can’t quite put my finger on it, but something feels off.”

The military should have received intelligence earlier, and the reinforcements arrived swiftly. With their arrival, the situation on the battlefield was quickly brought under control.

However, it was precisely because of this that Lu Jingning couldn’t help but sense that something was amiss. Just like what his classmates had said, this attack was carried out by the Eastern Star System’s pirate remnants. But if they were truly seeking revenge against the Imperial Navy Patrol Team, even if they had just suffered heavy losses, this kind of attack seemed a bit too much like a childish play.

At least, if it were him, with such a deep-seated grudge, he would ensure a sure-fire plan for the attack!

Lost in thought, Lu Jingning raised his head and looked towards the enemy’s mother ship at the far end of the sky.

It remained still among the clouds, its blood-red skull emblem eerie and striking, appearing like an observer, waiting for the perfect moment to strike its prey.

Just as Lu Jingning was immersed in contemplation, his communicator suddenly buzzed.

He didn’t expect Yu Qingcang to contact him at this moment. He answered the call and asked, “What’s the situation? Are you in the safe zone?”

Yu Qingcang’s voice came through, filled with a tearful tone, “Don’t even mention it! We have been terribly unlucky! We got involved in the center of the war zone during the evacuation! Lu bro, I’m calling to say my last words! If I die, remember that you’re my real daddy!”

“…” Lu Jingning listened to the sound of battle roaring in the background of the communicator, remained silent for a moment, and then said unkindly, “Get lost! Stop thinking about taking advantage of me all the time. I’m your real daddy? You might just die like that!”

Chapter 27 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 27

Leaving the sight of others, the two of them stopped under the shade of a tree. There, with his hair soaked in sweat, Wen Xingchen had a towel hanging from his neck, but he just leaned against the tree trunk and remained silent without initiating the conversation.

Wen Ye glanced at his expression and sighed softly, “Still upset with Father?” Wen Xingchen responded, “It’s quite rare to have you as a mediator this time.”

Wen Ye said, “I can’t really be considered a mediator. I only learned about this matter after coming back. I’m planning to visit home in a few days and meet the new stepfather. If you have nothing else to do, why not come along with me?”

Wen Xingchen didn’t respond directly but gave him a cold glance, “Bringing the new stepfather along, big brother, you seem to be going with the flow more and more.”

Wen Ye remained silent for a moment under his attitude and said, “You know Father’s personality. After all these years, aren’t you used to it by now?”

“Some things are impossible to get used to, big brother. Besides, promiscuity should not be associated with personality traits.” Wen Xingchen’s eyes lost all amusement, and he recalled someone’s figure, a touch of mockery appearing on his lips. “Sometimes I really admire you. Over the past ten years, Mr. Wen has changed eight legal spouses like a revolving lantern, yet you can still stand in his shoes and speak for him. How can you bring yourself to do it?”

Wen Ye remained silent.

Regarding their father’s well-known amorous nature throughout the empire, finding excuses to justify it was indeed somewhat strained. If it weren’t for receiving a communication from Wen Muqiao when he returned, crying and saying that he had upset their precious son again, Wen Ye wouldn’t have bothered to come and invite trouble.

Blame it on that man’s incorrigible lack of self-restraint. Whenever he saw an Omega he liked, he couldn’t control himself, especially under the influence of his favored pheromones. He couldn’t care less about anything else, the epitome of someone with a pure love-brained.

Among all those short-lived marriages, the five years he spent with Wen Xingchen’s mother were already the longest.

Wen Xingchen was clearly completely different when it came to emotions. He had watched his father and stepmothers change in and out like revolving lanterns throughout his life, and he couldn’t reconcile that with his mother’s suffering on the outside. Although the two elders’ relationship was still fairly decent, the rift between father and son naturally deepened.

“If you don’t want to go back, forget it.” Wen Ye tried to fulfill his duty by mentioning it and promptly changed the topic. “While I’m still at the military academy for these few days, consider joining the Imperial Navy Patrol.”

Wen Xingchen glanced at him and asked, “What’s the reason?”

During the new student challenge match, he deliberately lost the third round, so Wen Ye should already know he didn’t want to get involved with these matters.

Although Wen Ye was rigorous and methodical, he had never forced him to do anything. But this time, right after returning to school, Wen Ye came looking for him, clearly having a reason he couldn’t avoid.

“Our patrol suffered heavy casualties in the recent operation, especially the condition of Wei Qushu which requires at least half a year of rest.” Wen Ye’s explanation was very business-like and straightforward. “The inter-school competition is about to start, and according to regulations, we need to submit at least three names. Besides, your strength is evident to me. At such a moment when we should bring glory to our school, it should be natural for you to be chosen.”

Wen Ye’s personality indeed prioritized the bigger picture, but at this moment, Wen Xingchen was clearly focused on something else.

“With heavy casualties?” He frowned slightly and asked, “What about you?”

Wen Ye replied, “I’m fine.”

Wen Xingchen nodded and said, “I’ll think about it.”

“Alright.” Wen Ye didn’t insist and after exchanging a few more words, he left.

Alone again, Wen Xingchen stood still for quite some time, leaning against the tree, looking up at the stars in the sky absent-mindedly. The brilliance of the stars was somewhat dazzling, but he stood in the shade of the tree, seemingly determined not to let their light touch him.

Though Wen Xingchen and Wen Ye were half-siblings, they had always gotten along quite well from childhood. In fact, if it weren’t for their philandering father bringing new loves home after his peaceful divorce from their mother, the family as a whole could be considered harmonious.

From a young age, Wen Xingchen knew that there was a certain type of Alpha, inherently promiscuous, and he would never become a person like his father.

He wondered what kind of Omega their father had brought home this time and whether, after indulging Wen Muqiao, they would end up crying, throwing tantrums, or even attempting suicide once they woke up from the honeymoon phase.

Wen Xingchen took a deep breath, removed the towel from his neck, and walked towards the training ground.

The class bell had long since rung, and the training ground was now empty, devoid of any figures.

However, just as Wen Xingchen walked into the training ground, a golden head suddenly popped up among the lush grass.

It seemed like he had been napping, but when he drowsily looked toward the entrance, he hesitated for a moment upon meeting Wen Xingchen’s gaze before his expression gradually cleared up.

The next moment, Lu Jingning jumped up from the ground, exclaiming, “Hey, Wen, you’re back!”

Wen Xingchen: “…”

The change of atmosphere was too sudden, and it took him a moment to adjust his mood.

As Lu Jingning walked toward him while fiddling with his sleeves, he babbled, “The more I thought about it, the more I felt the victory was a bit disgraceful. Come, let’s have another match while no one’s around.”

Wen Xingchen thought he was just saying that but was surprised when Lu Jingning really made a move. He quickly reached out to stop him and said speechlessly, “Aren’t you tired?”

“Tired? How could that be! The word ‘tired’ doesn’t exist in Brother Lu’s dictionary!” Lu Jingning said brazenly.

“In that case, you win,” Wen Xingchen conceded.

“???” Lu Jingning was puzzled.

“Because I’m tired,” Wen Xingchen replied nonchalantly, stepping to the side, “Brother Lu, move aside.”

Lu Jingning reluctantly made way for him.

Wen Xingchen walked over to pick up his jacket hanging on the railing, and on his way back, he seemed to recall something, “Brother Lu, did you buy the laundry detergent?”

“Laundry detergent? What laundry detergent?” Lu Jingning asked.

“Last time you asked me about it, the green plum-scented laundry detergent. Were you waiting for me to provide it to you?” Wen Xingchen replied with a hint of amusement.

Lu Jingning thought about it seriously and said, “Maybe.”

Wen Xingchen smiled, “I never realized until now that you’re actually quite outstanding.”

Lu Jingning cheekily grinned, “Flattery, flattery.”

For the first time, Wen Xingchen found himself at a loss for words in front of someone. After a brief moment of silence, he finally couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

Lu Jingning had never seen Wen Xingchen’s so forthright smile before. The curved eyes seemed to have softened his usual aura of being a poser, making him inexplicably likable.

However, this clearly wasn’t the point now. The point was—

“Are you mocking me, Wen Xingchen?” Lu Jingning furrowed his brows.

Wen Xingchen waved his hand, still with a smile in his voice, “No.”

“Still denying it?” Lu Jingning tightened his frown.

Wen Xingchen suddenly reached out and ruffled his hair, his usually cool tone softening a bit, “Really, I’m not.”

Perhaps sensing Lu Jingning’s annoyance over his sudden laughter, when he returned to the dorm, Wen Xingchen sent him a gift the next day to express his apology.

Excitedly, Lu Jingning opened the package and found two full bags of green plum-scented laundry detergent inside.

Lu Jingning: “…”

When Yan Hebin returned to the dorm, they saw Lu Jingning pouring something from the bags into the laundry machine and couldn’t help but ask, “What are you doing?”

Lu Jingning didn’t look back but they could hear the gritting of his teeth in his voice, “Someone likes the scent of green plums, and I’m trying my best to satisfy him. I don’t believe I can’t smoke him out with this!”

Yan Hebin: “???”

The first club activity of the Mecha Society was scheduled for the weekend.

As Lu Jingning and Yan Hebin entered the society, they saw the committee members bustling about, busy with something.

At first glance, Lu Jingning saw the Alpha woman who had received them at the entrance on the day of recruitment. She walked over and greeted her casually, “Senior sister, what are you preparing for?”

As she turned her head, An Huo noticed the two new Omega juniors standing nearby, so she enthusiastically introduced, “Today is the first club activity, and we’re preparing to set up a battlefield. The core senior members of the society will give you a live demonstration of mecha combat.”

Live combat was completely different from virtual combat; though holographic simulations were highly realistic, the sensory experience of real combat with live ammunition was much more thrilling.

Lu Jingning raised his head to observe the rough layout of the venue. With An Huo’s command, a transparent light barrier instantly enveloped the surroundings.

Although it looked thin, anyone familiar with Imperial Interstellar’s defense technology knew that it was the primary material used for protective shields, indicating the society’s considerable financial backing.

“Ah, Yan Hebin, I didn’t expect the Mecha Society to be so interesting.” Just by looking at the setup, Lu Jingning knew they were preparing to bring out something big, and he, being someone who enjoyed stirring up trouble, naturally couldn’t miss such an opportunity.

In contrast, Yan Hebin, who was originally obsessed with the Mecha Society, seemed much calmer. “Hmm,” Hebin responded, his gaze falling on the newly introduced mechs that were just brought in from outside. He calmly said, “These mechs are all newly launched models in the past five years. They are not top-tier in terms of firepower, but they are a good choice for a stage show. However, if they don’t plan to use highly lethal hidden ammunition, a liquid fusion barrier is enough. They don’t need to go through so much trouble to lay down a light barrier.”

An Huo, who heard this impromptu lecture, was stunned for a moment. “Junior brother, your knowledge is quite extensive…”

“An Huo, how’s the preparation going now?” Yu Zeyang walked over and noticed Lu Jingning. He cast a disinterested glance at him as if he didn’t see him at all.

Lu Jingning was infuriated by this disdainful attitude, wanting to give him a kick right away.

But could he?

An Huo quickly reported the situation, glancing back and noticing only Yu Zeyang present. He couldn’t help but ask, “Vice President, why is it only you here? Where’s the President?”

“I don’t know either. When I just came over, Yun Lin sent me a message saying he had something to deal with temporarily and asked me to take charge of today’s activity.” Yu Zeyang spoke as he walked toward the other area, saying, “I’ll go take a look over there.”

An Huo acknowledged and watched him leave. Still a bit puzzled, he muttered softly, “Strange, what could it be? The President isn’t the type to casually miss a club activity…”

Lu Jingning listened on the side and chimed in, “Yeah, if I had known that the President wouldn’t come, I wouldn’t have bothered coming today either. It’s just a Vice President, but he acts like his nose reaches the top of his head. People who don’t know would think he’s the Vice Chancellor!”

After speaking, he was still annoyed and added, “The Vice Chancellor can’t hold a candle to him!”

An Huo couldn’t help but laugh, “Don’t say that, despite Vice President’s stern demeanor, he is actually quite kind-hearted. You’ll know once you get to know him better.”

Lu Jingning snorted disdainfully, “I can’t tell at all. I better not get to know him.”

As Yu Zeyang turned around and left, he didn’t let anyone see the deep, contemplative look in his eyes. He glanced at the current time and frowned slightly, “I hope it’s just a false alarm…”

At the same time, in the grand conference hall of the Imperial Navy Headquarters, it was already filled with people.

From their attire, there were high-ranking university officials, honorary professors who also held positions in the military, ordinary faculty members, and outstanding senior students.

The members of the Imperial Navy Patrol Squad were particularly conspicuous, wearing the uniform white military suits that were neatly aligned.

Headmaster Bing Cang sat in the central position, no longer appearing gentle as usual. His slightly narrowed eyes flashed with determination as he said, “Does everyone from the major departments already know about the situation?”

Despite the urgency of the situation and the limited time they had, the information they received about the enemy’s attack was vague and uncertain, but they had to be fully prepared for any possibility.

The naval university’s students were future soldiers, always ready for the battlefield.

Hearing Bing Cang’s words, Wen Ye could feel his teammate, Zhe Shan, clenching his fists tightly on the wheelchair, his expression full of unwillingness. Wen Ye patted his shoulder calmly, “This time, let us handle it.”

At the same time, headmaster Bing Cang’s voice rang out again, calm yet solemn, “Raise the alert, all personnel be on guard—!”

Chapter 26 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 26

When he stepped out of the Mecha Society, Xingchen had already walked away briskly. Although they hadn’t exchanged many words, it was evident that his emotions were different from usual.

Lu Jingning furrowed his brows and followed Yan Hebin and the others silently towards the dormitory. However, midway, he suddenly stopped in his tracks. The others turned around to look at him.

Ren Jin asked, “What’s wrong, Lu bro?”

Lu Jingning scratched his head. “It’s nothing. I just suddenly remembered something. You guys go ahead; you don’t need to wait for me.”

Without waiting for their further inquiries, he turned around and started running frantically.

Looking into the distance, they could see his golden hair shimmering in the wind, leaving the others slightly astonished. What urgent matter could it be?

Lu Jingning ran all the way along the path that Xingchen had taken but couldn’t find a trace of him. Finally, after searching around the nearby teaching building, he spotted Xingchen in the corridor of Zone B.

Xingchen was leaning against the railing, holding a mint-flavored cigarette between his fingers. The smoke enveloped him, blending with the starlight and casting a faint halo around him. The breeze gently lifted his hair.

Just as he was skillfully about to bring the cigarette to his lips, he seemed to sense something and subconsciously turned to look. He caught sight of Lu Jingning standing at the stairway’s entrance.

Glistening beads of sweat adorned Lu Jingning’s golden hair, making him even more radiant than usual.

The cigarette paused midway to Xingchen’s lips, and he inexplicably felt as though he had been caught red-handed. After an eerie standoff, he cleared his throat, trying to act casual. “Hah, why haven’t you gone back yet?”

Lu Jingning remained silent, merely raising an eyebrow in response to the cigarette in Xingchen’s hand.

After a moment of silence, Xingchen extinguished the cigarette, and as Lu Jingning leisurely approached, he teasingly asked, “What? Don’t tell me you don’t like this scent?”

The lingering smell of smoke was still present when Lu Jingning approached, and he couldn’t deny it, the scent was as alluring as Xingchen’s pheromones.

However, this time, Lu Jingning wasn’t buying into Xingchen’s tactics. He replied, “Why should I like it?”

Xingchen chuckled, “Don’t like it? Then why were you so eager for my pheromones before?”

Lu Jingning realized that Xingchen was the type who didn’t just irritate himself but others too. Just like now, he couldn’t feel at ease if he didn’t have a few jabs at him.

To be honest, in some aspects, this guy was even more childish than him.

Actually, not just childish, he was also narcissistic – in short, his personality was just terrible.

Lu Jingning mentally rolled his eyes and decided not to continue this pointless discussion of whether the mint smell was good or not.

He reached into his pocket, took out a mint candy, removed the packaging, and lifted his hand, directly stuffing it into Xingchen’s mouth without giving him any chance to resist, “Experience this, the mint flavor of this candy is much more pleasant than the smell of cigarettes.”

Xingchen didn’t even have a chance to react before he tasted the instant sweetness in his mouth.

Lu Jingning, on the other hand, opened his candy and leaned lazily against the railing, squinting his eyes as if enjoying it. “See, this is what life is about!”

Staring at Lu Jingning’s back, Xingchen was momentarily stunned. After a while, he asked, “So, what made you so anxious to find me?”

Lu Jingning seemed to have just remembered why he ran after him and propped his head up with one hand, turning to look at Xingchen, “Oh, right, I wanted to ask you, what scent of laundry detergent do you like?”

Xingchen raised an eyebrow, “Laundry detergent?”

Chewing on the mint candy, Lu Jingning nodded slowly, “Yeah, you asked me to clean my coat before returning it to you, right? I’ll use whichever scent you like. You’re so picky, so it’s better to avoid any hassle later on.”

Xingchen remained silent for a moment before replying, “Green plum sauce scent.”

Lu Jingning: “???”

Lu Jingning looked at him, and the corners of Xingchen’s mouth lifted slightly as he continued, “I said I like the green plum sauce scent.”

A gust of wind swept by, dispersing some of the bitter cigarette smell around them.

The clamor around them gradually faded as the group of people from the Imperial Navy Patrol Unit passed by.

They were a mix of males and females, all with slender figures, clad in uniform white military suits, with delicate badges on their shoulders signifying their distinguished identities.

Among them was one person sitting in a wheelchair, pushed by a wavy-haired female Alpha, seemingly injured.

Nevertheless, this didn’t diminish the excitement the others felt upon their arrival.

With his excellent hearing, Lu Jingning easily caught fragments of their conversation as they passed by.

“Ah! It’s the Imperial Navy Patrol Unit! They finally returned to campus!”

“I heard they assisted the military in wiping out the War Scourge Team in the SU8052 battle. They’re so cool!”

“Wuwu, I guess I’ll never have a chance to participate in such thrilling military missions in my life.”

“But this time was extremely dangerous! Look, even Senior Qiu Shu got injured. I wonder if it’s serious. It’s really worrying.”

“Is that Kang Hanyun? Oh my God, he’s so cool!”

“Kang Hanyun is my goddess; everyone else can move aside!”

“Senior Wen Ye finally came back. I haven’t seen him for nearly half a semester.”

“Wen Ye is really something. He’s said to have earned a second-class military merit this time. I bet he’ll go straight to an important position in the military after graduation, being the first among us in the Imperial Sea Army.”

Listening to the last part, Lu Jingning realized that the topic had shifted to the current team leader of the Imperial Sea Patrol Unit, Wen Ye. The adulation and flattery seemed endless, as if they were trying to lift him up to the heavens.

He couldn’t help but think, “Is he really that amazing?”

This was the first time Lu Jingning formally encountered the legendary Imperial Navy Patrol Unit. Although he was curious about them, he instinctively looked back at Xingchen, whose gaze was focused on the man at the forefront of the group. His expression was once again emotionless, impossible to discern.

Lu Jingning blinked; he might finally understand the real reason behind Xingchen’s reluctance to join the Mecha Society.

So, was it because of his elder brother?

The surrounding noise slowly faded as the group from the Imperial Sea Patrol Unit moved further away.

The two stood there in silence for a while before finally deciding to return.

“Well, let’s go back,” Xingchen’s emotions seemed to have plummeted again, but at least he didn’t look as agitated as before.

Lu Jingning also had a few older brothers, but they had always doted on him, and he had never experienced any tension with them. Not knowing the specific circumstances of Xingchen’s family, he didn’t inquire further. He just followed him on their way back and suddenly remembered something, “By the way, Lao Wen, do you know the president of the Mecha Society?”

Xingchen responded, “Yeah.”

Lu Jingning asked, “What’s his background? It’s weird; I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere before.”

Xingchen’s footsteps paused slightly, and instead of answering, he counter-questioned, “Have you met the Principal?”

Lu Jingning looked baffled, “Yes, I have.”

“You don’t think they look alike?” Wen Xingchen raised a meaningful smile, “Bing Yunlin is the grandson of Principal Bing Cang. So, while it’s highly unlikely that he would harm you, it’s still best to keep some distance from such a man. Otherwise, you might find yourself counting his money after he sells you off. I hope you understand what I mean.”

Lu Jingning: “……”

Lu Jingning: “!!!”

Damn it? No wonder he had this strange feeling of familiarity. These two are like a cunning old fox and a young fox cub!

Usually, club activities took place on weekends, so Lu Jingning didn’t meet the members of the Mecha Club again so soon. However, the next day in the afternoon during the combat class, he found himself facing Wen Xingchen.

Previously, he hadn’t noticed it, but now he realized that his classmates had already connected him and Wen Xingchen together as a team when it came to team battles.

Given that the total number of students in the Quadruple Faculty wasn’t large, all sixty students from the three classes were gathered together on the training ground, creating a spectacular scene.

The teacher explained the points of force for body strength during the combat class. Two students stood facing each other, and they had to push the other person down with their own strength to win. They were divided into six groups of ten students each.

As the students of the fifth group finished their bouts, the combat instructor blew the whistle. “Last group!”

Thus, Lu Jingning found himself standing there face to face with Wen Xingchen, attracting everyone’s attention.

The atmosphere around them was electric.

Upon hearing the command, Wen Xingchen got into position, but Lu Jingning, lost in his thoughts, couldn’t remember the instructions the teacher had given earlier. He mimicked Wen Xingchen’s posture as best as he could and asked, “Where do I put my hands? Like this?”

“Spread both hands open, palms facing down, then lock them together. No, not like that,” Wen Xingchen fell silent for a moment. “Stand properly. Give me your hand, and I’ll help you.”

Lu Jingning raised his hand, and as Wen Xingchen adjusted his posture, he couldn’t help but smile and say, “I know the last part, locking our hands together. It’s like this, right?”

Before Wen Xingchen could react, Lu Jingning’s fingers suddenly twisted, interlocking with his between the gaps of their hands, tightly connected.

They could feel the warmth from each other’s palms in that moment.

Wen Xingchen: “……”

The combat instructor was checking the correctness of each group’s postures. When he turned around and saw the two of them tightly holding hands, he couldn’t help but exclaim, “What are you two doing? I asked you to compete, not to hold hands and bond!”

Everyone’s attention was now focused on the conspicuous pair.

Accustomed to being the center of attention, Lu Jingning felt his palms heating up and found it hard to maintain his composure. “Ahem, Teacher, please correct our stance!”

The combat instructor walked over and adjusted their postures. “See, this is the proper form!”

Lu Jingning modestly said, “Yes, we see. You’re an amazing teacher!”

Wen Xingchen couldn’t help but laugh softly. “You’re good at flattery.”

Lu Jingning gave him a disdainful look. “Are you still laughing? If you weren’t such a lousy instructor, we wouldn’t have to endure being mocked by the teacher!”

Wen Xingchen nodded, “You’re right.”

Two minutes later, the last group was ready.

With a whistle in his mouth, the combat instructor stood nearby and blew it loudly. “Ready, begin!”

Though it started as a joke, Lu Jingning immediately focused when he heard the command.

They pushed against each other with all their strength, fully engaged in the duel.

As the combat class mainly focused on their physical strength, and they weren’t using their information auras, there wasn’t much risk of accidents.

Gradually, the other groups finished their bouts, leaving only the last group.

Everyone knew about Lu Jingning’s strength, and the students from the other two classes were surprised to see him holding his ground against Wen Xingchen for so long.

After all, Omega’s physical condition was naturally weaker than that of an Alpha. Although Lu Jingning’s S-class aura affected his strength, Wen Xingchen, as an S-class as well, should have been on an equal footing.

As the time passed, the contest became more intense.

Others began to feel the pressure, but Lu Jingning remained focused.

However, he sensed that his stamina was slowly dwindling due to the prolonged battle. Without being certain about Wen Xingchen’s situation, he knew he needed to end this quickly based on his past experiences.

Lu Jingning’s eyes filled with determination as he gathered all his strength and focused it in his hands.

In the next second, just as he was about to push forward with full force, a deep, hoarse voice suddenly sounded from the entrance of the training ground, “Excuse me, Instructor Chen. I’m looking for someone.”

At the familiar voice, Wen Xingchen was momentarily distracted.

Before he could react, a powerful force came crashing towards him. He didn’t have enough time to respond, and he was completely overwhelmed.

Lu Jingning hadn’t expected Wen Xingchen to be distracted at that moment.

Helplessly watching the situation unfold, he couldn’t stop the collision. They ended up falling together in a cloud of dust, with Lu Jingning ending up on top of Wen Xingchen in a rather suggestive position.

The onlookers were left dumbfounded, witnessing the unexpected spectacle of the two equally matched opponents suddenly entangled in such a compromising manner.

The crowd couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow!”

This scene is so thrilling! Wen Xingchen lay beneath Lu Jingning, and through their thin clothes, they could feel the erratic heartbeat when they were pressed so close together.

Everything happened so suddenly that even the thoughts that had scattered earlier due to the newcomer were instantly pulled back by the intense impact.

For a brief moment, their minds seemed to go blank.

Lu Jingning seemed a bit dazed as well. Winning was undoubtedly his goal, but the current winning position was far beyond his expectations.

What exactly was happening?

Lu Jingning’s gaze slowly dropped, and he found himself looking at Wen Xingchen’s graceful neck.

Perhaps due to feeling a bit parched, he subconsciously swallowed down.

The surroundings fell eerily silent, and time seemed to freeze in that very moment.

Both of them were overheated, and even the air around them felt scorching.

After what felt like an eternity, Wen Xingchen finally managed to regain his composure and spoke in a calm and restrained manner, “Are you alright? Can you get up?”

Only then did Lu Jingning snap out of it.

He blinked his eyes and, while getting up from Wen Xingchen’s body, regained his usual arrogance, saying with a hint of pride, “See, I won again!”

“Uh, yes, you won,” Wen Xingchen replied absentmindedly. He took a deep breath before standing up from the ground and casually adjusting his clothes.

With all eyes on him, Wen Xingchen glanced at the man standing at the entrance.

It was an unexpected presence, and everyone was close to exclaiming with excitement.

Lu Jingning, however, remained calm, slightly furrowing his brows as the smile on his face receded slightly.

The man who had suddenly appeared was none other than Wen Ye, the current Captain of the Imperial Navy Patrol Team.

Nobody had expected him to show up here.

Wen Ye’s attention never wavered from Wen Xingchen. Only when their eyes met did he speak in a measured tone, “Xingchen, can we talk?”

Wen Xingchen casually grabbed a towel to wipe off the sweat from his forehead and replied calmly, “Sure, let’s chat.”

The combat instructor seemed familiar with Wen Ye and didn’t mind the interruption of the class. He immediately granted Wen Xingchen’s temporary leave.

As they left one after the other, the once-quiet training ground exploded with whispers.

“What’s going on? Wen Xingchen knows Wen Ye, the senior student?!”

“They both have the surname ‘Wen.’ Could they be brothers?”

“Come to think of it, that’s entirely possible…”

“My goodness, if that’s true, then it’s no wonder they’re both extraordinary with such fantastic genes!”

Amidst the intense discussions, Jian Luan had already slipped away, and Yu Qingcang had no one to ask. He could only approach Lu Jingning with a flattering expression, “Brother Lu, what’s happening? They say that Wen Xingchen is Wen Ye’s younger brother. Is it true or just a rumor?”

Lu Jingning was busy drinking water, and upon hearing the question, he gave Yu Qingcang a faint look and retorted with a rhetorical question, “From childhood till now, you’ve been my little brother. Do you think that’s true or just a rumor?”

Yu Qingcang: “…”

Lu Jingning: “If you love gossiping so much, why don’t you ask Uncle Yu to make you a security guard at the vegetable market? You’d be able to perfectly utilize your developed limbs and simple mind. It’d be a great fit for you.”

“…,” Yu Qingcang felt wronged.

Big brother, I just asked casually. What did I do to provoke you?

You weren’t like this before. Why are you becoming more and more like someone else with such a sharp tongue?

Chapter 25 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 25

The recruitment process at Mecha Society employs a virtual combat mode. After inputting the mech’s production data, a virtual mech model is automatically constructed. The operator merely needs to synchronize their consciousness with the virtual c0ckpit to engage in simulated combat.

Throughout this process, both the detailed specifications of the mech and the operator’s informational and aura fluctuations are reproduced with 100% accuracy, making it one of the most sophisticated mech operating systems in the entire galaxy.

This mode not only avoids the massive expenses of mech production and testing but also enables real combat simulations with absolute authenticity, all while ensuring no casualties. Special organizations like the Imperial Navy’s Grand Mecha Society, supported by mecha mobile units, are the only ones able to introduce such advanced equipment successfully.

The commotion quickly attracted the attention of onlookers. Hearing that an Omega was participating in mech combat, they curiously gathered around.

In the distance, a blond Omega was calmly warming up, while two others stood beside, cheering him on, creating a lively scene.

Onlookers: …Did he also come with his own cheerleaders?

Yan Hebin stood by for a while but couldn’t wait any longer. He looked at Lu Jingning, who was stretching, and asked, “Do you need me to introduce the mech’s performance to you?”

Each mech has distinct attributes, and even a slight deviation in understanding could lead to significant discrepancies.

Yan Hebin expected Lu Jingning to nod without hesitation, but instead, he shook his head and said, “No need. There’s not enough time. I’ll figure it out when I’m inside.”

“Figure it out?” Yan Hebin’s mouth twitched slightly. Time was indeed limited. On the other side, the receptionist Alpha had already called over a senior student, who pointed towards them, seemingly expressing reluctance.

Ren Jin complained indignantly, “Lu-bro, that senior over there bullied Yan Hebin earlier!”

Lu Jingning rolled up his sleeves and declared, “Don’t worry! I’ll make them regret it!”

“Bullied? Can we use a different word?” Yan Hebin said.

With the personnel ready, they all walked towards their respective prepared virtual cabins.

As Lu Jingning approached the cabin door, the senior couldn’t resist taunting him, “Junior, let’s finish this quickly in our match, okay? No need to drag it out.”

Lu Jingning responded with an innocent smile, “Sure, senior.”

Both entered their cabins, and the virtual link hubs descended gently on their heads, establishing a connection with their minds and the virtual mechs.

When Lu Jingning opened his eyes, he found himself in the c0ckpit of the mech. He scanned the surroundings but didn’t rush to confront his opponent on the other end of the square. Instead, he quickly familiarized himself with the control environment.

Yan Hebin could tell that Lu Jingning had indeed researched a lot about this mech when constructing it. Even the operating system was one commonly used in the military. For someone like Lu Jingning, who had frequent exposure to such systems, it was familiar territory.

Lu Jingning’s lips curved into a faint smile as he performed some test movements.

Meanwhile, the senior was preparing for the first attack when he saw Lu Jingning’s mech suddenly raise its forearm with no warning. In response, he instinctively performed an agile evasive maneuver.

However, after a moment’s wait, nothing happened. He saw Lu Jingning’s silver mech lazily lower its forearm and then raise the sidewall, waving it in a slow, casual manner.

It seemed as though he was doing a slow-motion demonstration.

The senior: …

Is he doing mecha choreography?

The holographic scene was projected onto the central observation platform, and even Ren Jin, who was cheering enthusiastically before, couldn’t help but pause, “Lu bro, what’s he doing, showcasing?”

Su Jianian hesitated, “I think it’s more like a provocation.”

Yan Hebin said, “No, he’s just getting familiar with the controls.”

The atmosphere grew silent for a moment. Then, Ren Jin sought reassurance, “Yan Hebin, Lu bro will definitely win, right?”

Yan Hebin looked at the silver virtual mech on the field, a hint of a smile barely visible on his face. “Of course, he’ll win.”

After his previous defeat, Yan Hebin acknowledged that his pheromone level couldn’t handle intense mech control. However, now, the person on the field was Lu Jingning, and he was more than capable!

With his familiarity with the controls, Lu Jingning simultaneously utilized the mech’s arms to launch a series of attacks, pushing the black mech to retreat continuously. A faint electric field enveloped the silver armor.

Just when the senior was caught off guard, the silver mech suddenly exerted force, and the situation between the two instantly reversed.

Lu Jingning never left any room for doubt. Once he became familiar with the control system, his several mech arms launched a coordinated attack, driving the black mech back steadily. A faint electric field enveloped the silver armor.

Watching the holographic image, everyone felt the intense confrontation and unconsciously exclaimed.

Aren’t they saying that an Omega is fighting an Alpha? How come it looks like an evenly matched battle? It doesn’t seem like it’s being staged!

The senior’s eyes were already filled with shock. His original plan was to use his absolute strength advantage to force the Omega’s mech out of the field, just as he did with Yan Hebin before.

However, to his surprise, during that brief probing exchange, he felt a force seemingly stronger than his own.

Still somewhat dazed, the senior found himself unable to react in time when the silver mech suddenly exerted force. Two high-speed missiles were launched at him.

Lu Jingning’s eyes revealed a hint of a smile. The electric current from his mech’s arms instantly gathered onto his legs. As the missiles approached, the silver mech’s image blurred for a moment. In the next second, it appeared ten meters away, perfectly avoiding all attacks.

Onlookers were astonished. “Did he just teleport?”

Space teleportation was one of the most advanced technologies in the field of mecha. Although Lu Jingning’s teleportation distance was extremely short, it was undoubtedly this highly advanced technique.

After a brief silence, the entire arena erupted.

What kind of mech is this? It’s a masterpiece!

Didn’t it come from a freshman? And it even has a space teleportation device?!

It should be noted that the number of people who could master this technology in the entire empire was probably not more than ten!

Yan Hebin could feel the curious gazes from all around, observing the active mecha battles on the field. Despite the enthusiasm displayed during the fights, his expression held a certain complexity.

He never expected that Lu Jingning could display such mastery over his mecha during his very first test drive. At this moment, even with numerous opportunities to defeat the opponent directly, Lu Jingning showed no haste in ending the battle. He seemed to understand the other person’s intention.

It was a grand performance.

As expected, after the electromagnetic sensing system and spatial teleportation, a series of new transformations followed, such as enhanced arm strength, laser beams, solidified defenses, and more. One after another, these new forms were presented during the battle, turning it into a comprehensive showcase of Yan Hebin’s mecha.

Finally, amidst the dazzled senses of everyone, a climax was reached.

Several consecutive particle beams were fired, completely disintegrating the enemy’s mecha, and the combat came to an official end.

Even after exiting the simulation system, the senior student still found it challenging to regain his composure.

Looking back on the entire process, he had been caught in an immensely passive rhythm from beginning to end. The opponent’s attacks were exceedingly fierce, leaving him almost no time to catch his breath or defend himself.

Anyone familiar with mecha combat knew very well that this high-frequency combat rhythm would heavily deplete an individual’s information-element and energy.

And to accomplish such a splendid series of maneuvers, one could only wonder at the level of proficiency Yan Hebin possessed with his information-element.

But the most astonishing revelation was that the person inside the opposing c0ckpit was actually an Omega?!

The senior student almost wore a bewildered expression as he stepped out of the virtual c0ckpit. Upon turning around, he noticed the adjacent c0ckpit’s door opening, and he locked eyes with the person inside.

Lu Jingning had a refreshed expression, showing no signs of having just experienced an intense combat confrontation. Meeting the senior student’s gaze with a friendly smile, he took the initiative to greet him, “Ah, senior, I apologize for not achieving the quick victory you requested.”

“…”

The senior student couldn’t help but clutch his chest.

Damn, every word hit hard, it was exasperating!

After holding back for a while, he finally walked over, asking with an awkward expression, “Classmate, you handle your mecha quite well. You must have had a lot of time to familiarize yourself with it before, right?”

“Familiarize? Not at all,” Lu Jingning looked surprised, “I just had my first encounter with this mecha. Did you not notice that I took some time to get acquainted with the operating system at the beginning? Luckily, I adapt quickly; otherwise, I might have really lost!”

Recalling the opponent’s strange actions at the start, the senior student now understood what was going on. However, this realization seemed to magnify the impact of his defeat.

Originally, he was also using a temporarily assigned mecha today. If the opponent had prepared with sufficient man-machine adaptation beforehand, losing to an Omega freshman might have been somewhat acceptable. But now, the opponent claimed to have just encountered the mecha for the first time.

The senior student’s expression couldn’t help but reveal a touch of astonishment, struggling to find the right words to respond.

Just as he felt immensely awkward, a voice suddenly came from behind, “Wan Chen, what are you standing here for? Not embarrassed enough?”

The senior student named Wan Chen’s back stiffened immediately as he turned to face the newcomer with a wry smile, “Vice President.”

The speaker’s tone carried an indescribable arrogance, with sharp brows and eyes, and a clean and tidy crew cut, adorned with a conspicuous red earring. This was none other than the Vice President of the Mecha Society, Yu Zeyang.

His appearance immediately drew the attention of everyone present, and without further ado, he grabbed Wan Chen by the collar, casually tossing him to the female Alpha following behind, and said in a low, oppressive tone, “An Huo, take this kid to the registration area outside. He’s being a burden by staying here.”

Wan Chen looked aggrieved and drooped his head, “Vice President…”

As Yu Zeyang’s sharp gaze swept over, Wan Chen immediately choked back the rest of his words.

The female Alpha named An Huo couldn’t help but chuckle softly, leading him out while soothingly saying, “Alright, alright, stop complaining. Don’t you know the Vice President’s temperament by now? Speak less and do more, be obedient.”

Standing aside and witnessing the whole process, Lu Jingning’s eyebrows couldn’t help but lift with interest.

If it were just a fierce but timid person, he wouldn’t have paid much attention, but the Vice President of the Mecha Society had always exuded a strong presence. Clearly, he was not someone who merely pretended to be imposing.

Moreover, it had been quite a while since Lu Jingning encountered someone even more arrogant than himself. This Alpha seemed quite intriguing.

As Yu Zeyang turned his gaze toward him, Lu Jingning leaned against the virtual c0ckpit door, lazily tilting his head as he observed.

His expression was undeniably audacious, to the point of arrogance.

When their eyes met, it seemed like invisible sparks were flying.

Yu Zeyang never expected that he would be challenged by an Omega one day. A faint twitch of the veins on his forehead and his eyes darkened as he said, “Kid, as the Vice President, I must congratulate you for passing our basic test.”

Lu Jingning naturally responded without hesitation, “Thank you, thank you.”

‘We are delighted that the Mecha Club has caught your attention and been considered. It is indeed a great honor for us,” You Zeyang said. Suddenly, his tone changed without warning, “However, I must regretfully express that our club”s recruitment plan for this year does not reserve any positions for Omegas. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with Omegas, but considering various factors, Alphas and Betas are more suitable for our club. Therefore, I’m sorry to inform you that the Mecha Club cannot accept you.’’

After he finished speaking, the surroundings fell into an abrupt silence.

Lu Jingning and the others couldn’t help but nervously observe Lu Jingning’s expression.

They thought he might erupt at any moment, but instead, he just chuckled without a hint of anger and said, ‘’Oh? So, Senior, what you mean is, regardless of the final results of the assessment, you won’t accept us just because we are Omegas?’’

You Zeyang was also straightforward, ‘’That’s right.’’

Upon hearing these words, Yan Hebin’s expression unavoidably dimmed for a moment.

Still maintaining his smiling expression, Lu Jingning retorted sharply, ‘’Nonsense!’’

You Zeyang’s brows furrowed, ‘’Mind your tone.’’

‘’Why should I mind? What if I don’t?’’ Lu Jingning had never liked this kind of Alpha, and today he seemed ready to explode at any moment. Without any restraint, he rushed forward and forcefully pushed You Zeyang against the wall.

With one swift move, he grabbed the collar of You Zeyang’s clothes, his expression full of disdain. ‘’I’ve never heard of any club having such ridiculous rules! Look down on Omegas, huh? Fine, I’m right here today. How about we have another match to see who the real weakling is?’’

You Zeyang couldn’t believe Lu Jingning would suddenly act this way. Caught off guard, he found himself pressed against the wall in full view of everyone. Regaining his composure, he looked annoyed. ‘’Let go of me!’’

Unyielding, Lu Jingning said, ‘’Let go? Simple, let’s fight again!’’

You Zeyang was already a hot-headed person, but seeing that Lu Jingning was an Omega, he restrained himself slightly. Now that the latter was trying to trample all over him, he was thoroughly provoked.

However, before he could react, a slender hand with five fingers appeared in his field of view.

In a split second, You Zeyang felt a tug on his clothes, and just like that, he was lifted off the ground without a sound.

Lu Jingning’s feet left the ground unexpectedly, and his arrogant expression gradually turned to bewilderment. When he turned around, he was met with a pair of slightly smiling eyes. ‘’Oops, sorry, our Vice President isn’t very good with words and may have offended our new classmates.’’

This face looked exceedingly harmless, with its slightly narrowed peach blossom eyes. If it weren’t for the towering height that symbolized genes, one could mistake the person for an Omega.

Although Lu Jingning was sure he had never seen this person before, he inexplicably felt a sense of familiarity.

After staring at him for a while, the person cleared his throat and gently said, ‘’Apologies for not introducing myself earlier. I am Bing Yunlin, the President of the Mecha Club. Please feel free to call me Bing. I look forward to working with both of you in the future.’’

Lu Jingning couldn’t help but smile, ‘Can you put me down first?’

‘’Ah, sorry.’’ Bing Yunlin said and gently released his grip.

Lu Jingning returned to the ground and looked at You Zeyang, who had suddenly become as quiet as a chicken. It seemed he had discovered a completely new food chain relationship.

Curiosity got the better of Lu Jingning, and he took a leisurely step closer to the seemingly harmless President of the Mecha Club. He couldn’t help but tease, ‘’So, President, with you just said… I’ll be looking forward to working with the both of you?’’

Bing Yunlin replied with a gentle smile, ‘’Yes, welcome to the Mecha Club. Let’s get along in the future.’’

Yan Hebin was slightly taken aback, ‘’Both of us?’’

‘’After watching the battle just now, I have to admit that your control skills are indeed dominant, but the creator of this mecha is an absolute mecha genius,’’ Bing Yunlin said, glancing at Yan Hebin with slightly curved eyes. ‘’It was a mistake for us not to recruit you earlier. I’m here to apologize on behalf of my members. At the same time, I sincerely hope you will consider joining our club. I wonder if this classmate would be willing to give us another chance to invite you?’’

Yan Hebin replied with a smile, ‘’Of course, I’d be happy to.’’

‘’…’’ Lu Jingning had initially thought the President was a sensible person and wanted to say something against the Mecha Club, but upon seeing You Zeyang’s hate-filled expression, he suddenly changed his mind.

Actually, staying here to provoke people seemed quite interesting?

So, he changed the words that were about to come out of his mouth, and with a light, carefree whistle, he leisurely started walking away, saying, ‘’Alright, we’re done here. Let’s go.’’

Ren Jin and Su Jianan had been watching in amazement and finally snapped out of their daze, hurriedly catching up.

Only Yan Hebin didn’t forget to nod to the two seniors inside the venue and said, ‘’Goodbye, seniors.’’

Bing Yunlin smiled, ‘’See you at our club’s activities.’’

You Zeyang, already displeased, suddenly saw Lu Jingning turn back at the doorway, making a disdainful and enormous grimace at him.

That arrogant face seemed to be saying, ‘’Aren’t you annoyed?’’

You Zeyang clenched his teeth, ‘’…This damn kid!’’

Suppressing the urge to rush up and beat him up in front of Bing Yunlin, You Zeyang grumbled, ‘President, why do you insist on recruiting those two Omegas?’

Bing Yunlin’s smile had already faded completely, and he lowered his eyelashes slightly, ‘’Those two are different from other Omegas. I have my reasons.’’

You Zeyang protested, ‘’What reasons could there be? Have you forgotten what happened with Wen Cu? What if…’’

His words stopped abruptly under the sudden, icy pressure of pheromones around him.

‘’There won’t be any “what if” this time!’’ Bing Yunlin’s tone also softened, ‘’Rest assured, I can guarantee that such a thing won’t happen again.’’

In the intimidating atmosphere, You Zeyang felt a cold sweat on his back, but remembering the accident from years ago, his expression also turned melancholic, ‘’I hope so.’’

Chapter 24 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 24

The Imperial Navy has always had a close relationship with the Military Department, making it a crucial talent pool. Therefore, those internal societies, although claiming to be campus organizations, often have certain influential support behind them. In a sense, they serve as important channels for the Empire’s major core departments to attract talents in advance. For example, the Combat Society is sponsored by the Individual Combat Division, and the Mecha Society is backed by the Mecha Mobile Division. The Entertainment Society serves as a fixed recruitment point for the Interstellar Performing Arts Troupe. As for the renowned Imperial Patrol Guard, many members already possess official military rank medals issued by the Empire, allowing them to directly enter key departments upon graduation.

Upon returning with the materials handed out by the counselor, Lu Jingning carefully studied them and hesitated as he singled out a few societies that seemed particularly intriguing.

Yan Hebin came back just in time, and Lu Jingning greeted him, asking, “Yan Hebin, did the teacher talk to you about the societies? Do you have any preferences?”

Yan Hebin, standing upright as he placed his shoes neatly at the entrance, replied without hesitation, “Mecha Society.”

Lu Jingning noticed that his roommate genuinely had a strong affinity for mechas; even when they chose their branches, Yan Hebin decisively opted for the mecha division, closely connecting himself with mechas even in the society.

In truth, the Mecha Society was also within Lu Jingning’s considerations, but its recruitment assessment involved two aspects: mecha construction and combat. As for mecha construction, it was undoubtedly something he didn’t need to think about. Making mechas? Compared to dismantling them, he might even be more skilled in the latter. However, virtual mecha combat, on the other hand, was a piece of cake for him.

If this were a usual time, Lu Jingning wouldn’t worry at all. However, he was currently going through a turbulent phase. Despite the temporary relief from Wen Xingchen’s mark, he hadn’t attempted to activate the pheromone aura again. Who knew if he might unintentionally stir up some trouble?

Lu Jingning felt his wallet had become particularly fragile lately. It might be better to play it safe. He sighed and said, “I’ll think about it some more.”

Yan Hebin responded with a simple “okay” and sat down at his desk, opening his light brain.

Lu Jingning had noticed that Yan Hebin had been spending a lot of time in the mecha construction system over the past few days. At first, he marveled at the diligence of a top student compared to a lousy students like himself. However, it wasn’t until now that he finally understood. With great interest, he leaned over and asked, “Oh? Are you planning to use this mecha for the Mecha Society’s interview?”

Yan Hebin replied with an unwavering tone, “Yes, I’ll do the final calibration tonight. I’m not sure if it will work.”

Lu Jingning took a glance at the appearance of the mecha and gave an unequivocal affirmation, “I think it’ll be fine!”

Yan Hebin’s tone remained indifferent, “Thanks.”

Lu Jingning: “…”

Why such an indifferent response? He genuinely thought it was fine, buddy!

Although he was indeed a mediocre student in mecha construction, he had seen hundreds of mechas, if not thousands, that his boss had touched. Just by looking at the structure and configuration of Yan Hebin’s mecha, he could tell it was a powerful creation. Although it might seem a bit immature now, with some guidance from a professional, it would undoubtedly become a formidable weapon on the battlefield.

However, from Yan Hebin’s reaction, it seemed like he didn’t take Lu Jingning’s praise to heart.

Lu Jingning thought it over and decided to drop the topic. He didn’t say much, just secretly pondering in his heart.

This kind of interview seemed quite interesting; maybe he should go with them to check out the Mecha Society’s recruitment event if he had time.

Unfortunately, the lively event didn’t come to fruition. In the afternoon, just as Lu Jingning was preparing to head out, he suddenly received a communication from the school.

Yan Hebin had already gotten ready with his roommates from the neighboring dorms, Ren Jin and Su Jianian, waiting at the door. Seeing Lu Jingning not moving for a long time, Ren Jin couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong? Why aren’t you coming with us?”

“Go ahead; I don’t think I can make it. The counselor asked me to go to the Academic Affairs Office urgently,” Lu Jingning said with some confusion. “I wonder why they’re calling me now. I’ve already compensated for the damages from the mecha class. I haven’t caused any other trouble, have I?”

Ren Jin was Lu Jingning’s number one fan, so when he heard this, he couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed. “Alright then, we’ll go first. Lu Bro, if you finish early, make sure to come and join us.”

Lu Jingning patted his head. “Got it, I’ll be there if I can make it.”

Ren Jin’s face visibly brightened, and he waved happily. “Goodbye, Lu Bro! We’ll wait for you!”

Lu Jingning watched them leave and then checked the communication records, furrowing his brows. He turned around and opened the wardrobe. There, he spotted the two jackets hanging in the corner. He paused for a moment.

He hadn’t noticed it before, but unknowingly, Wen Xingchen had already borrowed two jackets from him, and they were still here. He wasn’t sure if he had enough clothes to wear. Maybe he should return them at some point?

However, the request Wen Xingchen made when borrowing them echoed in his mind: “If you’re returning them, remember to wash them first.”

After a moment’s contemplation, he casually grabbed a jacket from the side and decisively closed the closet.

Forget it, he wouldn’t return them. Who knew if that guy would be unsatisfied with how he washed them? It would be such a hassle.

Visiting the Academic Affairs Office was a common occurrence for Lu Jingning. He had been there countless times in his life, so he didn’t feel any pressure. However, as he entered the office and saw it filled with people who didn’t look like school staff, he couldn’t help but pause for a moment.

There were a mix of male and females as well as old and young people.. If one didn’t know better, they might think they had mistakenly walked into some kind of all-age matchmaking event.

After a moment of hesitation, he finally managed to utter three words, “Excuse me?”

Seeing Lu Jingning about to leave after speaking, the head of the Academic Affairs Office, Zhu Zhai, hurriedly called him back. “Wait, don’t leave. They’re all here to see you.”

Lu Jingning looked at the group of people, a puzzled expression on his face. “Everyone here… who are they?”

At the moment Lu Jingning spoke, everyone’s eyes were already on him, and their expressions were quite complicated.

Finally, a middle-aged woman stepped forward, wearing a smile as she asked, “You must be Lu Jingning?”

Seeing the woman, everything became clear to Lu Jingning. He couldn’t help but feel like laughing, and he raised an eyebrow as he looked at Zhu Zhai. “Teacher, are you hoping I’ll step in to plead for Zhong Feng?”

Zhu Zhai’s expression didn’t look good either. He was well aware of how serious the matter was. Making Lu Jingning accept this offer to defuse the situation was something he couldn’t say out loud.

An elderly person, the oldest among those present, wobbled his way out of the crowd and kindly smiled, saying, “Lu, my dear student, you see, our Fengfeng already knows he was wrong. Ultimately, you haven’t suffered any injuries. Why not show some kindness and help resolve the matter? If you want any compensation, feel free to tell us, and we’ll do our best to meet your demands.”

Facing this seemingly well-intentioned face, Lu Jingning couldn’t muster a smile. He sneered slightly and said, “Zhong Feng knows he was wrong, and I haven’t suffered any injuries? Grandpa, you have quite the way with words. The way you downplay such a serious matter makes it seem like it’s not a big deal at all.”

The old man’s expression stiffened involuntarily, “Young man, how can you speak to your elders like this?”

“I speak to people in a way they deserve. Don’t try to pull the ‘respect your elders’ card with me.” Lu Jingning didn’t buy into the act of showing deference to the elderly. His smile vanished completely, and he continued, “This time, I indeed came out unscathed, but does it have anything to do with Zhong Feng? The only reason I didn’t face any harm is that they happened to lock me in the warehouse and not someone else. Instead of feeling grateful, you should be thankful. Imagine if they had chosen another Omega; things would have escalated to a much more severe extent, and the consequences would be more than just a few years in prison.”

The old man was rendered speechless by Lu Jingning’s words, clutching his cane tightly, shaking with anger.

The middle-aged woman couldn’t stand by either, “Things can be negotiated; there’s no need to be so absolute in your words. Don’t you know…”

Lu Jingning interrupted her with a smile that wasn’t a smile, “Indeed, many things can be negotiated, but not this one. As far as I’m concerned, even a few years in prison would be a light punishment for scum like Zhong Feng. If you keep pestering me, I might just go directly to the Supreme Court of the Imperial Star for an appeal. Who knows, they might extend the sentence by another ten years?”

Under his extremely arrogant attitude, the middle-aged woman’s face turned pale.

The Academic Affairs Director, Zhu Zhai, had been silently listening nearby. At this moment, he couldn’t help but cast a few more glances at Lu Jingning, filled with astonishment. Such a defiant Omega, he had never seen something like this before.

It was the old man who first regained his composure. He looked deeply at Lu Jingning and lowered his voice, “Young man, I advise you to discuss this matter with your family. You’re still young, and it’s understandable to act without considering the consequences. However, sometimes, you need to think about other people in your family. If your actions bring trouble to your parents, that wouldn’t be good.”

Lu Jingning could naturally sense the underlying threat in his words. Suddenly, he seemed to understand where Zhong Feng’s audacity came from. People like him could infiltrate the top military academy of the Imperial Fleet for a reason, with certain background support. It was hardly surprising.

However, he couldn’t help but find the old man’s attitude amusingly ironic. It turned out that it wasn’t wise to threaten just anyone, as it had backfired on him.

Although Lu Kongbin’s position wasn’t too high, he was a first-class hero of the empire, receiving the highest respect wherever he went. Not to mention his grandfather, who held significant influence even after retiring from the top echelons.

To avoid unnecessary trouble, he deliberately concealed his family background. Apart from the old principal, probably only a few top leaders at the Imperial Fleet Academy knew about his true background.

Unexpectedly, the members of the Zhong family couldn’t uncover his background and came to his door with unwarranted confidence, attempting to pressure him. Did they really believe that having some power could crush anyone?

Lu Jingning truly wanted to tell them that he hadn’t informed his father about this incident and, in fact, it was a virtuous act of repaying hostility with kindness. If Lu Kongbin ever found out, once he flew into a rage, not only would Zhong Feng never walk out of prison again, but even the entire Zhong family would likely be expelled from the military in a quick and silent manner.

Despite his kind nature, why couldn’t people understand him?

While Lu Jingning silently contemplated, he had a more profound realization of the term “idiot.” Seeing him remaining silent, the Zhong family members thought he was finally scared, and their arrogance intensified.

Just as they were about to speak again, someone at the door calmly interjected, “Sorry, I’m a bit late.”

Hearing the familiar voice, Lu Jingning instinctively looked over to see Wen Xingchen standing at the entrance, dressed in black, which accentuated his tall and perfectly proportioned figure.

As the top-ranking freshman, Wen Xingchen was, of course, familiar with the Academic Affairs Director. However, Zhu Zhai appeared somewhat perplexed, saying, “Wen Xingchen? I didn’t ask you to come.”

Wen Xingchen smiled faintly, “I heard about the matter involving Zhong Feng’s coercion of an Omega, and as a witness, I came to take a look.”

By using the term “coercion,” Wen Xingchen instantly escalated the severity of the crime, leaving the expressions of the Zhong family members looking less happy.

The middle-aged woman gritted her teeth, “Young man, please be mindful of your choice of words!”

Wen Xingchen’s lips curled into a slight smile, “Ah, my apologies. Perhaps I used the wrong description.”

The woman’s complexion improved a little, before she heard him speak slowly again: “It’s not seduction, it’s gang r4p3.”

“Pfft—!”

The surroundings fell into a strange silence, but there was a discordant voice bursting out laughing.

Lu Jingning noticed the gazes from around him, and waved his hands apologetically, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I couldn’t hold back. Please do continue. Go on, go on!”

It was probably around this time that he started liking Wen Xingchen’s vicious mouth.

Really, why was he so likable? He liked it so much that he couldn’t wait to pounce on him and kiss him hard.

He ignited the people from the Zhong family with just a smile. The two men behind him rolled up their sleeves menacingly and said, “How dare you speak like that!”

Lu Jingning could feel the pervasive scent of Alpha pheromones in the air, and suddenly raised an eyebrow as if seeking trouble.

This was getting interesting.

The two men released their pheromones, partly to pressure Wen Xingchen, and partly to stimulate Lu Jingning, the Omega.

Unfortunately, due to the excellent confidentiality measures taken during this incident, they had no chance to get to know Lu Jingning at all. Seeing that he remained composed and unaffected, they began to feel uncertain.

As they attempted to release more pheromones to test the situation, an overwhelming aura suddenly emanated, completely suppressing them. They subconsciously took a step back.

Several Alphas from the Zhong family couldn’t help but feel their scalps tingle. Even the Omega among them, feeling weak in the legs, hurriedly leaned against the nearby wall, with thin beads of sweat appearing on their backs.

No one had expected that a student could possess such a powerful aura. Silence fell, and they were left speechless in the tense atmosphere.

The middle-aged woman’s displeasure grew, mixed with mockery. She thought that Wen Xingchen was being reckless by releasing his pheromones so openly. Wasn’t he afraid of affecting his Omega classmate?

However, her thoughts vanished when she turned to look at Lu Jingning. He didn’t seem affected at all, maintaining his composure, and even appeared to enjoy the situation, twitching his nose as if he found the atmosphere delightful.

The people from the Zhong family could no longer maintain their arrogance, and fear remained.

What kind of place was this Imperial Navy University? Were all the people here monsters?!

The academic affairs director, Zhu Zhai, who managed to remain composed under Wen Xingchen’s pressure, stepped forward to mediate with a friendly attitude. He gently patted Wen Xingchen’s shoulder and said, “Student, ease up on the pheromones. We’re here to mediate. Even if you don’t accept it, there’s no need to make it too embarrassing.”

He then turned to the Zhong family and amiably inquired, “What do you all think? Isn’t that the right approach?”

The people from the Zhong family were naturally unwilling, but under Wen Xingchen’s overpowering presence, they instinctively felt fear and reluctantly backed down, saying, “Right, right, today, we disturbed you.”

Only then did Wen Xingchen discreetly withdraw his aura. Without giving them another glance, he turned to Lu Jingning and asked, “Shall we go?”

“Sure, let’s go!” Lu Jingning replied and bid farewell to the teacher and others, saying, “If there’s nothing else, then goodbye!”

The Zhong family wanted to stop them, but the chilling aura emanating from Wen Xingchen made them hesitant and anxious, and they could only watch them leave.

Once they were downstairs, Lu Jingning asked, “Where to?”

Wen Xingchen replied, “Where are you going?”

Lu Jingning checked the time and said, “I’m planning to go to the Mecha Club and see if Yan Hebin is still there. As a good roommate, I should give him some encouragement.”

Wen Xingchen appeared agreeable, “I have nothing to do, so wherever you want to go is fine.”

Today was the first day of club recruitment, and the first batch of clubs had officially entered the recruiting stage.

As one of the most popular clubs at the Imperial Naval Academy, the Mecha Club’s recruitment site was bustling with people, comparable to the scene of a top 500 interstellar enterprise’s job fair. The intense competitive atmosphere could be felt even from a distance.

Lu Jingning was about to contact his friends when he looked up and saw several familiar figures. He waved to them from afar.

As they heard his voice, they looked up and recognized his eye-catching golden hair. However, instead of being energetic like when they left home, they seemed downcast.

Lu Jingning noticed their expressions and also saw Yan Hebin’s stern face. He asked in surprise, “What happened? You didn’t make it in? That’s impossible, right?”

If he hadn’t mentioned it, the mood might have been different. Now that he spoke up, Su JiaNian’s already gloomy expression turned indignant, “Those Mecha Club people are nothing but a bunch of narrow-minded jerks! Yan Hebin’s mecha is clearly much better than the Alphas’, yet they made him undergo virtual combat. It was clearly designed to give him a hard time just because he’s an Omega!”

Ren Jin became angry, and even his cheeks turned slightly red, “Exactly! They had an A-class Alpha compete against Yan Hebin, knowing that their pheromone strength was vastly different. If he loses, they would say it’s because of the mecha’s problem! Why not just say they don’t want to recruit Omegas instead of bullying people like this?!”

As Lu Jingning listened to their complaints and understood the situation, he turned to Yan Hebin and asked, “So it wasn’t an issue with your mecha, right?”

Yan Hebin, who had remained silent, finally spoke. His tone betrayed no emotion but was firm, “The mecha I made is undoubtedly the strongest among those in the competition.”

Lu Jingning, who had already been irritated by the Zhong family, couldn’t contain his frustration. Now, he found another reason to vent. Hearing this, he couldn’t help but clench his fists, “Fine! Why do people everywhere look down on Omegas?!”

Wen Xingchen had been waiting idly by the door and couldn’t help but laugh when he heard Lu Jingning’s rant.

Ah, wasn’t this guy here to apply for the interview? It seemed more like he came here to stir up trouble!

Chapter 23 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 23

Following Wen Xingchen’s request, the doctor quickly prepared the medicine for them.

On the way back, Lu Jingning seemed a bit gloomy, and his gaze occasionally swept across Wen Xingchen’s lips, looking somewhat restless.

Wen Xingchen, under the hot gaze, calmly adjusted his collar and spoke tonelessly, “Stop looking, don’t even think about it.”

Lu Jingning sincerely suggested, “How about we have a fight, and the winner gets to decide?”

Wen Xingchen almost burst into laughter, “So, you want your pheromones to explode again and then take advantage of my complete loss of control to start a wildfire?”

Lu Jingning, his thoughts exposed, looked up at the sky nonchalantly, whistling, “Why would you say that? It’s like I’m coveting your beauty and trying to take advantage of you.”

Wen Xingchen suddenly stopped in his tracks, smiling slyly as he looked at him from the corner of his eye, “Isn’t it?”

Catching the starlight from the sky, it framed Lu Jingning’s handsome figure perfectly. He hesitated, and the word “no” suddenly felt hard to say.

Coveting beauty? Well, maybe… a bit?

Seeing that he didn’t respond, Wen Xingchen sneered.

Lu Jingning, provoked by his attitude, raised his voice in annoyance, “I just want to borrow your pheromones, what’s the big deal? Are you afraid I’ll use this as an opportunity to cling to you? I promise I’ll leave after I’m done, no strings attached!”

Wen Xingchen’s lips twitched uncontrollably, “Do I look like some kind of useful tool to you?”

Lu Jingning stuttered, “I didn’t mean it that way…”

“Since the medicine is ready, you better take it and don’t waste it!” With these parting words, Wen Xingchen turned and walked away without looking back.

Lu Jingning stood there for a moment, feeling like something was off about their conversation.

He was the Omega, after all, so why did it feel like he was forcing something?

It was frustrating. If it weren’t for the fact that others would go weak in the knees when they smelled his pheromones, why would he even have to rely on this surname Wen? He was an Alpha, and was it such a big deal to let him take a bite, not like he’d get pregnant!

The more Lu Jingning thought about it, the angrier he became. He returned to the dormitory with a disgruntled expression.

Yan Hebin glanced at the medicine he had in his hand, “Did you go to the hospital?”

Lu Jingning nodded and casually placed it on the table.

Ugh, he really hated taking medicine!

Seeing his potentially explosive mood, Yan Hebin didn’t ask further questions and continued working on the virtual panel for their mecha prototype.

Lu Jingning glanced over and was suddenly curious. He leaned in and exclaimed, ” Yan Hebin, is the curriculum in the Military Mechanics Faculty going so fast that you’ve already started building mechas?”

Yan Hebin pushed up their glasses and didn’t turn their heads, “The courses haven’t started teaching that yet; I’m self-studying.”

Lu Jingning suddenly had newfound respect for his roommate, “I didn’t expect you to be such a genius!”

Finally, Yan Hebin glanced at him, “What’s up?”

Lu Jingning rubbed his hands nervously, “I was wondering if you’d be willing to help me with the theoretical exams in the future?”

“Help” was a polite way of saying it; he was practically asking for cheating outright.

Under the intense scrutiny, Yan Hebin showed no emotional reaction, “Not possible.”

Lu Jingning felt a chill from his icy attitude, “Ah, Yan Hebin, with this kind of coldness, you won’t find an Alpha.”

Yan Hebin remained unfazed, “You’re not cold and unfeeling, but have you found an Alpha?”

A devastating retort.

Lu Jingning, “…”

His roommate was as difficult to deal with as Wen Xingchen. Lu Jingning wondered what would happen if these two sarcastic individuals ever crossed paths. It would be a spectacular clash of wits.

Lu Jingning’s mind suddenly conjured up the image of a tall figure. He blinked in surprise, and his face twisted in a rare expression.

He lost all interest in joking with Yan Hebin, washed away the hospital disinfectant from his body in the bathroom, and climbed into bed in silence. Before falling asleep, he had only one thought in his mind.

He couldn’t believe there was an Alpha he, Lu Jingning, couldn’t handle. Wen Xingchen, let’s see what the future holds!

Upon learning of Lu Jingning’s trip to the hospital, Yu Qingcang showed unusual concern. The next morning, he waited downstairs at the Omega dormitory with a hearty breakfast.

Lu Jingning had spent the entire night dreaming about overpowering a certain Alpha in a corner, and with poor sleep and a bad mood, not even delicious food could soothe his irritable temper.

Listening to Yu Qingcang’s aimless questions and feeling impatient, he interrupted him and got straight to the point, “Spill it, what’s the matter?”

Yu Qingcang cleared his throat and changed the topic, “The second round of the ancient basketball tournament is coming up. How are you feeling lately? Are you still able to play?”

Lu Jingning couldn’t help but roll his eyes. He knew this guy would bring up something unrelated sooner or later.

However, he wasn’t entirely sure about his recent physical condition, and the situation with the ancient basketball tournament was uncertain, so he replied, “We’ll see when the time comes.”

Yu Qingcang knew Lu Jingning’s personality too well to press further, so he nodded and said, “Alright.”

After all, they had already defeated the formidable Imperial Defence Faculty, and the remaining Combat Command Faculty and the Military Mechanics Faculty were no match for them. There was no need for this powerhouse to participate.

“There’s one more thing,” Yu Qingcang added, lowering his voice with a gossipy tone, “I have to ask, what’s the deal with you and Wen Xingchen? He accompanied you to the hospital, and the way you two acted… is it really as Jiang Luan said?”

Before he could finish his sentence, Lu Jingning threw a punch towards his head, “I don’t want to hear that name right now!”

Yu Qingcang, baffled by the sudden attack, rubbed his sore spot and looked at Lu Jingning’s indignant expression, forming countless words of love, hate, and intrigue in his mind.

Although Lu Jingning never behaved like a typical Omega, his current resentment seemed suspicious!

Unfortunately, class time was approaching, and he couldn’t indulge in gossip.

After parting ways with Yu Qingcang, Lu Jingning lazily entered the classroom while munching on a piece of bread. He immediately spotted Wen Xingchen sitting in the back.

Raising an eyebrow, he didn’t bother with greetings and simply moved to the back row, stashed his backpack in the drawer, and laid his head down to sleep.

Jiang Luan, who had planned to give up his seat when he saw Lu Jingning, froze in place when he noticed the situation. He had just stood up, but now he remained standing.

He turned to look at Wen Xingchen, who was absorbed in his textbook, his expression full of surprise.

What was going on? Had these two quarreled?

Wen Xingchen raised his head under Jiang Luan’s gaze and asked calmly, “Is there something?”

Jiang Luan, puzzled by their inexplicable behavior, kindly suggested, “How about I switch seats with Lu Jingning?”

Wen Xingchen’s lips curled into a slight, almost smiling arc as he responded, “With so much time on your hands, why don’t you go socialize with more Omegas?”

One sentence struck right at the heart.

Jiang Luan covered his aching chest.

This surname Wen was really something! Even though he knew that lately, some Omegas were divided between being attracted to him and being attracted to Lu Jingning, occasionally leaving a few single Omegas completely disinterested, why would he go socialize with an Omega?

Regrettably, class was about to start, and the conditions didn’t allow for deep gossip.

Lu Jingning wasn’t usually one to play games, but recently, perhaps due to the disruption in his pheromones, he found himself constantly in an irritable and drowsy state.

Moreover, whenever he saw Wen Xingchen, he couldn’t help but think about the enticing minty scent of his pheromones, a scent that made him want to stretch his neck towards the man and let him bite into it.

However, after the incident at the abandoned warehouse and Wen Xingchen’s two consecutive refusals, Lu Jingning was determined not to lower his head again. If he was going to be marked, he wanted Wen Xingchen to take the initiative!

When Lu Jingning looked at Wen Xingchen again, his gaze took on a predatory quality.

On the day of the non-basketball game against the Military Mechanics Faculty, as Wen Xingchen passed by the rest area, he suddenly caught a faint familiar scent of pheromones, barely noticeable.

His steps involuntarily faltered, and his first thought was that Lu Jingning’s pheromones were acting up again.

He subconsciously looked into the room, his gaze falling through the half-closed door, and he happened to see the young man with half of his shirt off, revealing a well-defined abdominal area with prominent abs.

Contrary to his seemingly slender appearance, the taut curve of his abdomen displayed robust muscles. Accompanied by the scent of pheromones in the air, every frame of this scene seemed to excite the strings of his rationality in his mind frantically.

Wen Xingchen: “…”

Setting aside other irrelevant factors, if you zoom in the lens to the point where it can only accommodate two people, it’s like a massive seduction scene.

Unfortunately, Lu Jingning showed no urgency in putting on his sports uniform. He casually ran his fingers through his disheveled hair, took a sip of water, and when he swallowed, his Adam’s apple rolled gently. He exuded an aura of a complete male transformation.

Wen Xingchen: “…”

Lu Jingning waited for a while but didn’t hear any movement behind him. He couldn’t hold back any longer and turned around. When their eyes met, he wore a surprised expression, “What are you doing here?”

As he spoke, he casually ruffled his hair, revealing a subtle gland when he tilted his head.

A faint and subtle scent of pheromones filled the air, incredibly ambiguous and tantalizing.

However, Wen Xingchen remained silent for a moment, and his gaze on Lu Jingning’s neck didn’t linger. He calmly said, “Contain your pheromones, don’t release them recklessly at this moment. Otherwise, when our college’s team arrives, do you intend to make them kneel directly on the court?”

Lu Jingning: “…”

“You don’t need to change into your sports uniform either. Given the situation, do you really want to play? Don’t go berserk later and demolish the court.” Wen Xingchen said casually, taking off his jacket and throwing it on top of Lu Jingning’s head, revealing a friendly smile. “I’ll lend you the jacket for now. Wear it securely, and don’t let any air leak. If you want to return it or not, it’s up to you. If you do return it, make sure to wash it clean in advance.”

Lu Jingning: “…”

It was as if Wen Xingchen didn’t notice the rapidly changing expressions on Lu Jingning’s face. He chuckled lightly, took a step back, and walked away.

From start to finish, he didn’t even step into the rest area’s door.

Lu Jingning was left alone, holding the still-warm oversized jacket.

Damn it, where did things go wrong?

Was it his own charm that had truly declined, or was this guy Wen Xingchen not really an Alpha?!

He cursed silently in his mind and was about to toss the jacket out the window when he raised it and caught a whiff of the minty scent of pheromones clinging to it. He couldn’t help but move his nose.

After pausing for a moment, he reluctantly put on the jacket.

Admittedly, that scent was somewhat enticing.

Besides, it was better than going without. He’d deal with the rest later!

Wen Xingchen didn’t actually go far.

In the empty corridor, as he turned a corner, he suddenly reached out to support the nearby wall. His expressionless face cracked for the first time, revealing a hint of conflict.

Under the temptation of pheromones, his Alpha possessiveness surged uncontrollably, almost driving him to rush towards that person.

Perhaps this was the result of a high compatibility, as if a switch had been turned on since the day in the warehouse, making it increasingly difficult to resist the effects of pheromones.

Honestly, he didn’t like this feeling of losing control, but he couldn’t resist the instincts that came naturally between AOs.

He took a shallow breath and rubbed his hair carelessly, muttering to himself, “Such a little devil!”

When Lu Jingning lazily sat down in the resting area, Jiang Luan inadvertently saw the jacket he was wearing. His face froze as he exclaimed, “Is that Wen Xingchen’s?”

Lu Jingning absentmindedly replied without noticing Jiang Luan’s gradually changing expression, “Yeah.”

Jiang Luan knew Wen Xingchen’s cleanliness obsession all too well. He didn’t allow anyone to touch his personal belongings, let alone something as intimate as a jacket.

Thinking about it, Jiang Luan couldn’t help but look towards the nearby figure.

Damn, Wen Xingchen was going too far! They had known each other for so long, and he had never received such treatment. His brother was really pushing it!

Lu Jingning was lost in thought and didn’t sense Jiang Luan’s resentment. He suddenly reached out and pulled him closer, asking, “Jiang Luan, can I ask you something?”

Jiang Luan: “???”

“Then there’s no reason to refuse. I’ve never been one to say no to a beautiful Omega. This isn’t what a gentleman Alpha should do…” Jiang Luan’s words came to a sudden halt here. It seemed that he had just realized something and looked at Lu Jingning slowly. “You’re not asking about Wen Xingchen, are you?”

Lu Jingning: …

His silence made Jiang Luan feel uneasy. His voice involuntarily rose, “You’ve actually reached the point of needing temporary… um, um!”

Lu Jingning quickly pressed him and said through gritted teeth, “Answer the question properly, and maybe I’ll spare you!”

Jiang Luan nodded repeatedly, his hand that had been covering his mouth finally let go, and he almost choked.

Finally catching his breath, he lowered his voice, “Ahem, if it’s about Wen Xingchen, well, you don’t need to worry too much. In matters of emotions, he’s a bit different from others. There are many complications, you understand, right? But no matter what he does, he has his reasons. Don’t get angry with him because of it!”

He sighed softly at the end, “There are some things I can’t say right now. It’s better to wait until he wants to tell you in person.”

Seeing his attitude, Lu Jingning became more certain of his suspicions, “So, he does have issues in that department, doesn’t he?”

“What?” Jiang Luan was momentarily stunned by his flexible thought process. After a while, he shook his head repeatedly, “No, absolutely not! That’s not what I meant!”

Seeing Jiang Luan’s intense reaction, Lu Jingning couldn’t help but become even more convinced. He patted his shoulder with a feeling of sympathy, “Alright, don’t worry. I, Lu Ge, am very tight-lipped. I won’t casually reveal anything!”

Thinking back to everything that had happened, his angry emotions dissipated somewhat, replaced by deep sympathy.

Just think about it, how could anyone resist such an outstanding Omega like him? If there were any issues with Wen Xingchen in his receiver or elsewhere, that would fully explain it!

“…”

Seeing Jiang Luan’s apparent misunderstanding, he felt dumbfounded and couldn’t help but glance in Wen Xingchen’s direction. He shuddered inwardly.

Sorry, buddy, I didn’t mean it that way!

Absolutely can’t let Wen Xingchen find out about this, or he might end up killing me?!

The subsequent matches went very smoothly for the Quadruple Faculty, and they advanced to the finals.

In the final match, they once again faced off against the Imperial Defence Faculty.

The matter of Zhong Feng being caught had already been resolved a few days ago. There was no way to wash away the fact that he had used inducement drugs to force Omega into heat. The final judgment was that he would spend five years behind bars. With this outcome, not only did his chances of entering the military diminish, but his entire life was essentially ruined.

However, no one had any sympathy for him in this matter.

Anyone who could do such a thing to an Omega was clearly scum. If he were allowed to graduate, he would likely become a menace sooner or later.

Zhong Feng’s case had clearly dampened the spirits of the Imperial Defence Faculty. They quietly played out the final match, and in the absence of Lu Jingning on the court, they had no chance to win the championship, losing by a large margin.

After winning the final match of the Ancient Basketball Tournament, the students of the Quadruple Faculty cheered and celebrated. Led by Jiang Luan and a few others, they organized students from several classes of the Quadruple Faculty to go out and have a good time that night.

Lu Jingning had been feeling down these past few days, so he didn’t have any reason to refuse such a good opportunity. He was particularly enthusiastic.

In stark contrast, Wen Xingchen’s attitude was completely different. After hearing what Jiang Luan had to say, he remained indifferent, “I won’t go. I wish you all a pleasant evening.”

Jiang Luan, enduring a bout of frustration, tried to coax him, “Lu Jingning will be there tonight, too. Lu Jingning, you know!”

Wen Xingchen replied, “Oh, what does that have to do with me?”

Jiang Luan exclaimed, “Of course, it does! Look, everyone going tonight except him is an Alpha. What if… um, you know what I mean?”

Wen Xingchen finally glanced at him, a faint smile playing at the corner of his lips, “What could possibly happen? Do you think you guys can do something to him?”

Jiang Luan said, “Of course not! What I mean is, we’re afraid Lu Jingning might do something to us!”

“…”

Wen Xingchen couldn’t help but recall the scene in the lounge before. Suddenly, he felt that, given the recent circumstances, if Lu Jingning did something like that, it wouldn’t be surprising at all.

He remained silent for a moment, then asked, “Time and place?”

Jiang Luan felt relieved and remembered the conversation he had with Lu Jingning on the basketball court. He wiped away a tear of bitterness in his heart.

Oh, Wen Ge, this is all I can do for you!

It had to be said that Jiang Luan was truly skilled in organizing events.

TheQuadruple Faculty had a total of sixty students from three classes, neither too many nor too few. After notifying everyone, those absent and those who were invited were all accounted for. They directly booked the entire lobby of a hotel not far from the Imperial Navy University for their celebration dinner, creating an atmosphere akin to a military award presentation.

This grand gesture drew eye-rolls from students of other institutes, who felt that the Quadruple Faculty had become overly inflated after winning the Ancient Basketball Tournament.

Lu Jingning, on the other hand, enjoyed this meal immensely. During the past few days of taking medication and recuperating, he had felt weak all over, with energy coming and going unpredictably.

That evening, he saw it as a chance to release some tension and enthusiastically participated in various drinking games. After completing a round of these games, he returned to his seat with a flushed face, saying, “Did you all see that, Lu Ge? I’m the most handsome guy at this table!”

Next to him, Yu Qingcang was about to add to the banter when he suddenly sensed a familiar scent. His posture froze, and he began to panic, pushing his chair back several meters in succession.

Lu Jingning, puzzled, asked, “What’s wrong?”

Yu Qingcang’s face turned pale as he said in a frightened tone, “Lu Jingning, your pheromones are leaking!”

It must be said that too much laughter can lead to tears. The other students at the table, who had been devouring their food like hungry tigers, instinctively moved back in fear.

Most of the other tables were filled with students from different classes, and they couldn’t quite comprehend the strange behavior on this side. They assumed it was some new game they were playing.

Within seconds, the area around Lu Jingning became deserted. Yu Qingcang looked around anxiously but soon spotted Wen Xingchen, who was sitting beside them, meticulously removing fish bones from his dish. Without hesitation, Yu Qingcang rushed over and exclaimed, “Wen-ge, save us!”

“…”

Wen Xingchen was suddenly put on the spot. He raised his head, and everyone’s expectant eyes met his gaze.

He glanced at Lu Jingning, and his intuition told him that it might not be a good idea to leave them alone together in this situation. But if he allowed Lu Jingning to stay and the pheromones acted up again, it could lead to a disastrous outcome.

After a moment of silence, he picked up the jacket from the back of his chair, walked over to Lu Jingning, and placed his hand gently on his shoulder. With a light pat on the head, he said, “Let’s go, I’ll take you back, little one.”

The others breathed a sigh of relief. They were grateful that Wen Xingchen was there to maintain order. If Lu Jingning, after drinking so much, were to let loose, even a group of A-level Alphas wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Lu Jingning didn’t seem too eager to leave, but given the circumstances of recent events, he had no choice. He swayed to his feet, waved to everyone with lingering excitement, and said, “I’ll head back now. Enjoy your meal, everyone!”

The others almost cheered, “Take care on the way!”

As they stepped out of the hotel, the cold night wind immediately nipped at their necks. Lu Jingning, wearing Wen Xingchen’s jacket, suddenly felt a throbbing headache. It was as if a burst of energy surged uncontrollably through his body, leaving him feeling breathless one moment and completely listless the next.

He couldn’t help but shake his head vigorously.

In fact, his alcohol tolerance had always been decent, but it seemed that when a person’s physical condition weakened, everything seemed to go awry. Just one round of drinking had left him feeling out of sorts.

The restaurant wasn’t too far from the school, but it wasn’t exactly close either. The two of them walked in silence, neither saying a word. The only sound was the streetlights casting their shadows, intertwining silently.

When they reached the second-to-last intersection before the school gate, Lu Jingning’s figure suddenly swayed. Wen Xingchen, who had been a few steps behind, quickly stepped forward and grabbed his arm. “Be careful.”

Lu Jingning’s head was throbbing, and he felt as if a fire was uncontrollably surging from his arm. He turned his head and, coincidentally, met Wen Xingchen’s gaze. After a slight daze, he suddenly smiled and said, “Oh, you really care about me!”

Under this overly bright smile, Wen Xingchen’s heart suddenly skipped a beat. At the same time, a gust of wind blew, carrying the faint scent of Omega pheromones to his nose.

Compared to earlier at the hotel, it seemed even stronger now, as if it was becoming more chaotic, fluctuating between peaks and valleys, and cautiously testing the waters.

Wen Xingchen hadn’t drunk much tonight, but at this moment, he felt an emotion that was trying to break free. He unconsciously tightened his grip on Lu Jingning’s arm, but when he saw Lu Jingning furrow his brows, he immediately realized what he was doing and released his hold.

Without the support of his grip, Lu Jingning, who was feeling quite dizzy, swayed for a moment before regaining his balance. He looked at Wen Xingchen’s reaction and, despite his current state, couldn’t help but grab the collar of his jacket, bending down closer and letting out a breath that brushed tantalizingly close to Wen Xingchen’s face. He smiled ambiguously, “What are you afraid of? I can’t eat you, you know.”

Before, he hadn’t noticed it at the dining table, but after the cold wind blew, he felt as though his internal pheromones had suddenly awakened and started surging. This made his fingertips subconsciously trace lightly on Wen Xingchen’s back.

The influence of alcohol, coupled with the scent of Omega pheromones, required Wen Xingchen to exercise great self-control not to be thrown off balance by the seemingly teasing touch of that hand.

However, even with his restraint, due to their high compatibility, the pheromones lingered faintly in the air, enough to keep both of them on the edge of losing control at any moment.

Separated by their clothing, Wen Xingchen could still feel the softness that belonged to an Omega. Suddenly, he realized that he might have been overly confident in his self-control.

He had always believed that he could maintain his prized composure in any situation. However, at this moment, the thin layer of alcohol in his system was constantly urging the pheromones to ferment, seemingly uncontrollably.

He could even feel that his pheromones were struggling to contain themselves for the first time, spreading recklessly with a strong possessiveness, as if they couldn’t wait to plunder.

In a voice that was approaching hoarseness, Wen Xingchen spoke, “Lu Jingning, at a time like this, it’s better if you don’t get too close to me.”

Lu Jingning, already feeling a bit dizzy from the alcohol, sensed the sudden presence of the Alpha’s aura after hearing those words. It reminded him of the conversation with Jiang Luan.

He sensually took a breath, showing no intention of maintaining distance. Instead, he lazily leaned in closer.

His gaze brushed over those sensual lips, and suddenly, in a provocative manner, he bent down and lightly pecked them. His eyes were misty as if veiled in a layer of mist. “I want to get closer. What can you do to stop me?”

Wen Xingchen’s heart trembled. Under this tender touch, his last defense finally shattered.

With a 99% compatibility, an overwhelming taste that led to obsession, if this person was the one… then so be it!

His voice was filled with suppressed hoarseness. “Do you want me to mark you? Have you thought it through? Will you regret it?”

However, Lu Jingning remained silent, and after a few seconds of contemplation, he suddenly reached out with his other hand and pushed Wen Xingchen away slightly.

Feeling the emptiness in his arms, Wen Xingchen’s eyes dimmed slightly. “Let’s… go back.”

Just as he was about to take a step away, when he lifted his head, he saw that the person in front of him had somehow loosened his collar.

He exposed the glands at the back of his neck between the loose clothing. In an instant, Lu Jingning pounced on him eagerly. “Go back? Where do you want to go back to? Wen Xingchen, I don’t regret it. Hurry up and mark me!”

Not only the torment of drowsiness these past few days but also the already ignited pheromones made Lu Jingning wish for nothing more than to have Wen Xingchen’s scent fully integrated into his body.

It was the most addictive scent he had ever encountered.

Sometimes, the compatibility between AO pairs was truly a wonderful thing. He had never wanted someone so urgently before.

He wished to resolve it right then and there!

However, Wen Xingchen, despite being on the edge of the abyss, still clung to his last shreds of rationality. While the surroundings were empty, they were still by the roadside, and if anyone passed by, they would easily see them entangled together in the dim light.

Looking at the gland that was already at his lips, he gritted his teeth internally. “Lu Jingning! Are you sure you want to do this here?”

Lu Jingning looked at him blankly and replied languidly, “It’s just a temporary marking. Do we need to perform some kind of ceremony?”

Wen Xingchen didn’t respond and, after glancing around, pulled the troublesome guy into the nearby bushes.

Grasping the other’s wrist, he finally felt the Omega’s softness.

Wen Xingchen raised Lu Jingning’s hands high, pressing them against the tree trunk. His gaze brushed over the gland on his neck, revealing a hint of longing. Finally, he no longer restrained himself and lowered his head to gently bite.

Lu Jingning’s body tensed for a moment, and after a brief shiver, their pheromones rapidly merged within his body. With the completion of the temporary mark, everything gradually settled down.

During this process, he felt as if he had had an incredibly comfortable dream. When he woke up, Wen Xingchen was still before him, and the moonlight filtered through the branches remained the same. However, the whole world seemed to have become incredibly fresh, even the strong scent of alcohol in his body had dissipated significantly.

He suddenly felt very comfortable!

As the doctor said, a temporary Alpha mark was more effective than any pheromone suppressants. That evening, most of the students from the Quadruple Faculty who attended the gathering got drunk, and the next day, they arrived at school with sleepy eyes and constant yawning.

In contrast, Lu Jingning, who had left the gathering early last night, looked completely different from the lethargic state he had been in for the past few days. He was spirited and had a glow on his face, leaving others puzzled.

What had happened? He had gone out for drinks, and somehow he had managed to drink his former self back?

Jiang Luan, amazed by the change, observed for a while. Unable to contain his curiosity, he approached Wen Xingchen and asked in a hushed voice, “What happened? Didn’t you send Lu Jingning back yesterday? What’s going on?”

His initial intention was to inquire whether the two of them had finally reconciled. Unexpectedly, instead of remaining silent, Wen Xingchen’s expression, which had been devoid of emotion, instantly turned icy when Jiang Luan asked.

Jiang Luan’s heart skipped a beat, sensing that something was amiss. Before he could withdraw, Wen Xingchen’s voice came out low and deep, uttering a single word, “Get out!”

The next moment, the chair under Jiang Luan received a sudden force, causing him to spin wildly, and when he finally regained his composure, he found himself sprawled across the rightmost row of seats, spanning nearly half the classroom.

Jiang Luan had unintentionally performed an acrobatic act. He was in shock and, upon reflection, realized how terrifyingly strange the events of last night must have been for even someone like Wen Xingchen to resort to vulgar language. What on earth had happened?!

Wen Xingchen, of course, also felt Jiang Luan’s hesitant gaze. However, he could assure you that if this person dared to ask one more question, he would be thrown out of the window at any moment.

But whether he liked it or not, he couldn’t help but recall what had happened last night in the bushes after they completed the temporary mark. He remembered Lu Jingning’s expressions and actions, as well as the carefree departure afterward.

As the faculty advisor, Lin Wei walked into the classroom, and all the students quieted down. She projected a document onto the screen panel and began, “Students, starting tomorrow, it will be the day for various clubs and organizations to recruit new members. I urge everyone to go home today and familiarize yourselves with the available options and consider signing up.”

With her words, everyone’s attention was focused.

Lin Wei continued, “The list I’m sharing now includes the names and classification levels of all the clubs and organizations at the Imperial Navy University. Different levels of clubs have varying difficulty in joining, so please choose wisely. The S-level clubs have strict requirements for admission. If you’re interested, make sure to understand the conditions beforehand. If you have any questions, feel free to consult me.”

Lu Jingning swiftly scanned the list of various on-campus organizations. When he reached the Imperial Navy Patrol Club’s booth, his gaze paused briefly at the S-level classification.

He remembered that newcomers could join unconditionally if they managed to complete a 1v3 challenge during the initiation contest. And why had Wen Xingchen deliberately lost the final match of the initiation contest? There had to be a reason.

No matter how he thought about it, Lu Jingning couldn’t believe that Wen Xingchen was afraid of stepping onto the battlefield. So, if it wasn’t for avoiding combat, then what could it be?

Puzzled, he turned his head to look at Wen Xingchen.

Unexpectedly, when he turned, he locked eyes with a gaze that was hard to read. Those beautiful eyebrows were furrowed, like an inspection and a questioning look combined. Lu Jingning didn’t expect Wen Xingchen to be looking at him, and just as he was about to say something, Wen Xingchen suddenly averted his gaze.

“???”

Lu Jingning’s mind was suddenly filled with question marks. He subconsciously touched his face. What was this attitude about? Did he get too excited during breakfast and accidentally smear minced meat on his face?

Chapter 22 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 22

This strange sensation passed in an instant, dispelling much of his drowsiness.

Lu Jingning suddenly felt energized and without thinking too much, he focused his attention.

After all, it was the first mecha class, and the content was straightforward. Each side controlled a mecha and used their pheromones to engage in a simple confrontation on the field.

This operation didn’t require a significant expenditure of pheromones. Although Lu Jingning had received the inhibitor injection yesterday, his overall pheromone capacity was vast. As long as the control intensity wasn’t too high, it wouldn’t have much impact. Sensory-wise, it was no different from playing pretend with them.

However, the other classmates clearly didn’t see it that way.

In their eyes, the two opposing mechas on the field seemed to exude a majestic background music on their own. When the two S-class pheromone holders made their move, it resembled a grand duel in ancient martial arts novels.

Everyone instinctively held their breath and watched as the two mechas took a step forward, their metallic arms clasped tightly together.

The scene seemed frozen for a moment. If it weren’t for the faint vibrations from the ground, one would almost think that these two were merely striking a pose on the stage.

People were astonished. Indeed, it was like a battle between two needlepoints. Neither side seemed to gain the upper hand!

After Lu Jingning entered the mecha, he felt restless excitement. In the c0ckpit, he could sense the powerful collisions between forces.

For some reason, at that moment, he recalled the faint scent of peppermint smoke from Wen Xingchen’s pheromones.

Unable to resist, he twitched his nose slightly and glanced at the iron armor in front of him. A surge of fighting spirit welled up in his eyes.

The presence of Wen Xingchen, an S-class Alpha, made Lu Jingning want to completely defeat him.

And after each successive outbreak, it seemed to ignite Wen Xingchen’s fighting spirit as well.

The strength on the arms of the two mechas gradually increased. Both sides exerted their efforts, but neither could overpower the other. They remained in a stalemate for a long time.

It seemed that someone vaguely saw a faint crack appearing on the tightly clasped mechanical arms of the two mechas.

Wuo Fei, the teacher of the mecha class, had been teaching at the school since he graduated. He had never witnessed such a situation before, so he was slightly taken aback before quickly regaining his composure and shouting, “Stop, both of you! That’s enough! We can end here!”

However, Lu Jingning had no intention of stopping.

After the prolonged confrontation, his pheromones seemed to be completely awakened. At this moment, they surged through his body, seeking an outlet for release due to the limited space of his small body. They uncontrollably transmitted through the sensors, fully manifesting in the mecha.

As his opponent, Wen Xingchen could feel a tremendous force continuously surging. Even he felt an unprecedented sense of pressure.

His brow involuntarily furrowed, and when he looked up, he witnessed the tightly clasped mechanical arms suddenly crack with a loud snap, distorting into a strange and peculiar shape.

At the same time, Wuo Fei’s face contorted in pain.

After all, it was his class, and how much would it cost to repair this damaged mecha? He didn’t even know if his salary for the month would be enough to cover it.

But at this moment, there was obviously no time for him to worry about compensation. At this point, the dark gray luster on the surface of the mecha that Lu Jingning was piloting gradually transformed into a crimson color.

It was the activation of the full-scale assault mode.

Wuo Fei couldn’t comprehend the specific situation inside the mecha, but he vaguely sensed that something was amiss.

As a teacher, his first reaction was to lead all his students to safety. When he turned around unintentionally, he saw the other mecha standing motionless. He shouted, “Wen Xingchen, come down first. We need to leave as soon as possible!”

However, Wen Xingchen didn’t respond and showed no intention of leaving. Instead, the periphery of his mecha began to emanate a blue glow.

Unlike Lu Jingning’s crimson color, this change indicated that he had entered full defense mode.

“…,” Wuo Fei had no idea what to say. He thought one Lu Jingning was enough, but now there was Wen Xingchen too. Suddenly gaining two talented students, he didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.

There was no time to linger at this moment. He quickly turned around and began guiding the other students to evacuate.

Just then, Lu Jingning’s mecha finally went completely berserk.

On the other side, Wen Xingchen took action as well.

Almost every time Lu Jingning was about to launch a devastating attack, Wen Xingchen managed to provide impeccable protection at the crucial moment, effectively minimizing the destruction around them.

Jian Luan huddled in a corner with the other students, both fearful and amazed. He looked at the now-riddled mecha classroom and couldn’t help but sigh, “Lu Jingning is indeed a genius!”

A nearby classmate added weakly, “Wen Xingchen is amazing too. Look at how hard he’s fighting to protect us. It’s so touching…”

Jian Luan couldn’t help but give him a sidelong glance and shook his head with emotion, “You’re still too young.”

The situation on the field was undeniably intense. However, Wen Xingchen, the ruthless individual he was, was not protecting them. It was quite clear that he was mostly defending Lu Jingning!

It was unclear how much time had passed, but the smoke on the field gradually subsided.

After the final electric punch, the crimson mecha seemed to suddenly exhaust all its energy. The color that enveloped it faded away after a brief flicker, completely dimming.

In the midst of rolling smoke, a figure lazily walked out of the c0ckpit.

Lu Jingning looked exhausted, reverting back to the state where he could sleep for days without waking up. He seemed completely unaware of his own actions. Yawning carelessly under the watchful gazes of others, he lazily stretched his sore muscles. “Ah, why is this mecha class so tiring?”

Insert a The crowd’s faces were indifferent.jpg.

They didn’t even bother to see how they had turned this perfectly fine classroom into such a mess. Consuming the pheromones at such a high intensity, it’s no wonder they’re truly exhausted!

Wen Xingchen also descended from the mecha and glanced at Lu Jingning, who had an expression as if nothing had happened, lost in thought.

Now there was hardly a place in the entire area where a person could stand. Wo Fei had to unilaterally announce the early end of the class, emphasizing with a reminder, “Lu Jingning, stay behind! I believe it’s necessary for us to settle the compensation issues!”

Lu Jingning: “…”

He really couldn’t control it just now, and he didn’t want to either!

It has to be said that the extent of the damage this time was indeed excessive, to the point where it surpassed what Lu Jingning could personally endure.

As he walked out of the office with the list in hand, he could almost imagine Lu Kongbin’s furious expression upon receiving the news, and couldn’t help but despairingly cover his face.

Setting aside everything else, getting a good beating at home was definitely unavoidable.

He couldn’t help but let out a sigh and, as he descended the stairs, he turned around and happened to see a familiar figure at the corner. He couldn’t help but be slightly stunned. “What are you doing here?”

Wen Xingchen raised his head. “Looking for you.”

Lu Jingning didn’t think too much and sincerely said, “Thanks for that, earlier in class.”

If it weren’t for Wen Xingchen stopping him, according to eyewitness accounts, he would have almost demolished an entire teaching building. In that case, the compensation cost would have jumped several times higher, and when he went back, it wouldn’t be as simple as getting a beating.

Wen Xingchen responded with a faint “Hmm” and didn’t hesitate to accept the thanks. He glanced at Lu Jingning, who was still yawning, and said, “Have you noticed anything strange after we went home yesterday?”

Lu Jingning looked puzzled. “No.”

He had been sleeping the whole time after he got back, so what could be wrong?

Wen Xingchen asked again, “What about during class just now?”

Lu Jingning was even more bewildered. “I’m not sure either, but I felt overwhelmed with pheromones, but it didn’t quite feel like being in heat.”

Wen Xingchen fell silent for a moment. “Well, maybe we should go to the hospital and get it checked out.”

Considering his own situation before, Lu Jingning thought Wen Xingchen’s suggestion made sense. He looked at him and proposed, “How about you come with me?”

Wen Xingchen didn’t even think about it. “Go by yourself.”

Lu Jingning said, “Oh, Lao Wen, don’t be so unsympathetic! Look, I have no idea what exactly happened before. You’re a bystander at least, so if the doctor asks something, you can help answer a few questions, right?”

Wen Xingchen: “…”

Without waiting for a response, Lu Jingning simply took it as a yes, pulled him along, and walked out. He babbled, “You know, Lao Wen, Lu bro is fearless, except when it comes to hospitals. I’ve always been terrified of going to hospitals since I was little. Just think of it as accompanying me to gather some courage.”

He said that, and Wen Xingchen couldn’t really refuse.

After registering at the hospital, the two headed straight for the specialist clinic. Before they could say anything, they were handed a bunch of test forms as per the usual procedure.

After a good two hours, they finally sat in front of the doctor.

The doctor received the test results on the terminal, looking at them one by one. His expression changed from astonishment to surprise, then confusion, and finally to shock before turning serious.

Under such an excessively dramatic change in expression, not a single word was spoken.

Lu Jingning couldn’t bear it any longer and said, “Doctor, what’s the situation? Can you just tell us?”

The doctor glanced at him. “Wait a moment, let me pull up your personal file and take a look.”

Wen Xingchen asked, “You have a personal file?”

Lu Jingning smiled. “How about that? Pretty impressive, huh?”

Wen Xingchen: “…”

He really likes showing off, doesn’t he?

After carefully reviewing the complete record in the personal file, the doctor asked in a deep voice, “Recently, have you forcibly used pheromones?”

Upon hearing this, Lu Jingning’s first reaction was the inducer that Zhong Feng used on him. He nodded, “I… I did? Is there a problem?”

“In theory, there can be some effects, but it shouldn’t have resulted in the current situation unless…” The doctor paused for a moment, looked up, and continued, “Unless, while forcibly triggering the pheromones, you were also influenced by Alpha pheromones in sync, which could lead to the excessively unstable situation you’re experiencing now. Being able to disturb your pheromones to such an extent indicates that the compatibility between that Alpha and you is at least 99% or higher.”

Lu Jingning was momentarily stunned by the words, and he instinctively looked at Wen Xingchen.

Wen Xingchen also happened to be looking at him.

There was a hint of surprise and doubt in their eyes, but the answer was about to reveal itself.

It took Lu Jingning a while to come back to his senses and said, “Doctor, so what should I do in this situation?”

The doctor pointed to two graphs of pheromone concentrations on the virtual screen and pushed them in front of Lu Jingning. “Take a look yourself. This is the normal Omega concentration index, and this is your current Omega concentration index. Whether it’s the peak or the trough, it far exceeds normal levels. The main thing is that these fluctuations were recorded within a mere five minutes, and the fluctuation is too significant…”

Lu Jingning interrupted his incessant explanation with a headache. “Um, Doctor, we don’t really understand the specifics. Can you just tell us the results directly?”

The doctor said, “The result is that the pheromones in your body are already extremely unstable. In addition to the naturally high concentration, if you continue in this current state, you may enter the uncontrollable state you mentioned at any time.”

Lu Jingning was stunned. “What should I do then?”

“If it was just ordinary unstability, we would generally choose to administer corresponding suppressants. But your situation is rather special. Forcing down such a high concentration of pheromones could potentially have the opposite effect. Therefore, for now, we can only opt for the recently introduced pheromone correction substance for gradual adjustment.”

When the doctor reached this point, he paused for a moment. “The only issue now is that this prolonged adjustment will test your personal endurance. Moreover, during the initial stages of adjustment, there is a high possibility of experiencing sudden pheromone outbreaks again.”

Lu Jingning: “…”

Today’s mecha class was already enough. If it erupts again, he won’t be able to handle it.

He really can’t afford to have it happen multiple times!

Seeing his despondent expression, the doctor couldn’t help but chuckle. “Actually, there’s another option. Using drugs to correct the pheromone chaos only serves as a forceful restraint. The most effective and direct method is an Alpha’s temporary marking.”

Lu Jingning: “Huh?”

The doctor emphasized, “The higher the compatibility with the marking Alpha, the better the effect. If there’s an Alpha willing to assist, I believe you can quickly overcome this difficult period of unstabiltiy

As soon as Lu Jingning heard this, he was momentarily stunned, and then a mischievous smile appeared on his face. “Lao Wen, how about…”

Wen Xingchen seemed as if he hadn’t heard Lu Jingning’s words. He turned to the doctor and said, “Please prepare some pheromone correction substances for him. Thank you.”

Lu Jingning: “Uh?”

Wen Xingchen acted as if he didn’t hear Lu Jingning’s words and turned to the doctor, saying, “Please prepare some pheromone correction substances for him. Thank you.”

Author’s Note: A long time later.

Wen Xingchen: Don’t ask. If you ask me about it, I deeply regret it…

Chapter 21 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 21

“Don’t be like this, just take a whiff.”

When Wen Xingchen saw Lu Jingning’s eyes fixated on his neck, he fell silent for a moment. One hand firmly supported Lu Jingning and created some distance between them, while the other hand took out the communicator from his pocket.

Jian Luan, who was waiting anxiously outside and unaware of the situation, felt confused when he received the call. He said in a bewildered tone, “What? Omega suppressants? What’s going on? Is Lu Jingning in heat?”

Wen Xingchen replied, “Less talk, more action.”

Upon hearing this unsympathetic response, Jian Luan vaguely sensed that his friend seemed to be in a bad mood. After asking for the specific location, he tactfully refrained from provoking further and promptly ended the call.

Although Jian Luan usually didn’t appear serious, he was quite efficient when it came to handling matters. Moreover, he held special concern for someone like Wen Xingchen, who rarely opened up. In just about ten minutes, he arrived at the scene with the suppressant.

In that short span of time, Wen Xingchen experienced an unprecedented torment. The person lying on top of him seemed to be burning like fire. The pheromones alone were enough to stimulate his nerves, and Lu Jingning, this oblivious Omega, occasionally moved his hand restlessly.

Wen Xingchen felt as if his self-control was on the verge of depletion. A fiery sensation seemed to ignite uncontrollably within him, almost escalating further. Seeing that he was nearing the point of endurance, he couldn’t help but push Lu Jingning away slightly and said, “Stop moving.”

Lu Jingning, in a dazed state, jokingly responded, “Just a little touch, what’s the big deal? Don’t be so stingy!”

Wen Xingchen: “…”

Was this a matter of stinginess or not?

As an Omega, this person really had no idea about the concept of playing with fire.

Wen Xingchen’s peripheral vision glanced at the empty ground nearby, and he suddenly thought that it wouldn’t be bad to just throw this person on the ground. As he raised his hand to take action, he finally heard Jian Luan’s voice coming from behind, “Hey, what’s going on here?”

Wen Xingchen turned to look, but he hesitated for a moment due to the astonishing outfit Jian Luan was wearing.

Wen Xingchen: “…”

Jian Luan was wearing the latest model of a gas mask on his head, and he was dressed in heavy decompression armor. Fully armed like this, except for the voice he just heard, it was nearly impossible to discern any facial features.

Wen Xingchen remained silent for a moment, then said, “Bring the suppressant.”

So many things were amiss that he didn’t even bother uttering the word “idiot.”

Only then did Jian Luan react and passed the suppressant to Wen Xingchen, bypassing the scattered “bodies” nearby.

Wen Xingchen took it and swiftly opened the package, injecting it into Lu Jingning.

Although Jian Luan was fully armed, he could still feel a subtle sense of oppression. It wasn’t until he saw the blush gradually fade from Lu Jingning’s face that he completely breathed a sigh of relief.

Looking at the disheveled appearance of the two, a playful thought suddenly crossed Jian Luan’s mind, “Hey, both of you have impressive self-control. Alone together in a room, and you haven’t even taken off your clothes?”

Wen Xingchen glanced at him, revealing a friendly smile. “If you like taking off clothes, I don’t mind serving you.”

Jian Luan froze and took several steps back. “No, no need! I don’t like it at all!”

Although Lu Jingning had calmed down from the chaos, the air was still filled with a strong scent of pheromones. Without the protective gear, he felt like he could collapse at any moment, just like those people on the ground.

Wen Xingchen usually appeared calm and casual, but deep down, he was more beastly than anyone else. He was capable of doing anything, and when he said he would take off his clothes, he meant it.

After the scorching heat in Lu Jingning’s mind receded, he gradually regained his clarity. In a daze, he couldn’t help but recall the scene when he was alone with Wen Xingchen. His gaze subconsciously glanced at Wen Xingchen’s fair and smooth neck, and he lightly licked his dry lips.

In addition to Yu Qingcang, he didn’t have many familiar Alphas. He had never realized that the scent of an Alpha could actually smell this good. It was a faint, minty aroma.

Though he momentarily got distracted, Lu Jingning quickly stabilized his breathing, which was still somewhat erratic. He couldn’t help but ask, “Should we do something about these people? Zhong Feng called the security team, and they should be here soon.”

Wen Xingchen pushed Lu Jingning away slightly and straightened his clothes. “Lets leave the rest to Jian Luan. I’ll take you back to rest.”

Jian Luan: “???”

Lu Jingning was indeed feeling dizzy, so after considering for a moment, he nodded, “Okay.”

He also made sure to give some instructions before leaving, “Make sure to tell the security team about Zhong Feng being in possession of an inducer. I refuse to believe he’ll get away with it!”

Wen Xingchen added, “Using such prohibited drugs is a significant offense, he’ll be locked away for at least three years. If you encounter any strange situations during the investigation, feel free to contact me.”

Jian Luan had an expressionless face. “…Oh.”

What else could he say in the face of these two who seemed to be perfectly synchronized?

The Omega dormitory buildings were off-limits to Alphas, so Wen Xingchen left Lu Jingning downstairs and departed.

When Yan Hebin heard the sound of the dormitory door opening, he turned around and saw Lu Jingning’s pale complexion, causing him to be taken aback.

Even the perennial ice-cold Yan Hebin couldn’t help showing a touch of concern. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”

“It’s nothing, I’m fine.” Lu Jingning casually replied, climbing into bed and immediately falling asleep.

Under the influence of the suppressant, the bursting pheromones were thoroughly suppressed, but it inevitably left him incredibly drowsy, more so than ever before.

After Wen Xingchen finished sending Lu Jingning off, he received a call from Jian Luan. He stood by the roadside and answered, attracting the attention of the Omega students returning to their dormitories.

According to Jian Luan’s description, the security team arrived shortly after they left. After explaining the situation, even the experienced officers were bewildered. Clearly, they had never heard of this kind of Omega pheromone. Since Zhong Feng, the person who made the call, had already fainted, the police decided to temporarily send everyone at the scene to the hospital for monitoring, while awaiting further investigation.

Wen Xingchen had no objections to this.

Such an openly exposed incident was easy to investigate. As long as Lu Jingning remained firm,

Zhong Feng’s expulsion would be a minor consequence. All the culprits, including Wen Xingchen, would be sentenced to a few years in prison.

The Empire had special protective regulations for Omegas, but it didn’t reduce the crime rate among those despicable Alphas. Whenever a case was discovered, it would be thoroughly investigated.

After hanging up, Wen Xingchen found Lu Jingning’s contact number and sent a concise message explaining the current situation.

As expected, he received no response.

He must be sleeping.

Lu Jingning saw the message the next morning.

The long sleep gave him a headache. After reading the message, he first went to the security team to give a statement, following Wen Xingchen’s reminder. They asked him to wait for further notice, so he walked into the mecha classroom, his messy golden hair resembling a bird’s nest.

Today’s class was about mecha control, which was undoubtedly novel and enticing for new students.

The classmates were enthusiastically discussing, but they fell silent for a moment when Lu Jingning entered the room, their gazes shifting towards him.

Within a day, the rumors about the warehouse incident had spread, and everyone had heard something about it. Although the rumors stated that after Zhong Feng used the heat inducer, the thugs fought each other for the Omega, after piecing together their own experiences with Lu Jingning’s pheromones, it was easy to guess what had happened.

On one hand, they despised Zhong Feng’s vile tricks, but on the other hand, they couldn’t help but feel sorry for those involved.

Well, they got themselves into trouble, right?

It was unfortunate but who told him to provoke Lu Jingning, the big troublemaker? It seemed like it was destined for him to court death!

Many concerned classmates gathered around to express their care, and Lu Jingning, for some reason, started feeling drowsy again. He yawned and responded absentmindedly before sitting down next to Wen Xingchen.

Wen Xingchen glanced at his expression. “Feeling tired?”

Lu Jingning replied, “Not really, I just feel like sleeping a bit.”

Jian Luan kindly reminded him, “Big bro, it’s okay to doze off in other classes, but today’s mecha class involves practical combat! Don’t miss anything, or you might end up causing an accident again.”

Lu Jingning yawned again. “Don’t worry, I’m tired of mechas. I can operate them even with my eyes closed.”

Jian Luan: “???”

You’re tired of mechas too? What kind of background do you have?

Perhaps to demonstrate that he could live up to his words, when the mecha instructor began explaining the first control theory, Lu Jingning simply rested his head on the desk and fell asleep instantly.

Wen Xingchen lowered his gaze and happened to see the smooth skin between his exposed neck, along with drool dripping from the corner of his soft lips.

Wen Xingchen: “…”

Lu Jingning peacefully slept through the comfortable first half of the class. However, when it came to the practical session, he couldn’t continue sleeping peacefully.

The first mecha class taught the most basic control techniques, mainly to familiarize students with the feeling of integrating their pheromone abilities into mecha control. Overall, it wasn’t too difficult.

After other classmates took turns going up to complete the practical exercises in teams, only two people remained: Lu Jingning and Wen Xingchen.

Both were S-class, and although it was just a basic exercise, no one wanted to be their opponent.

After all, no one liked the feeling of being completely dominated.

Having an S-class Omega and an S-class Alpha in the same situation was a match made in heaven!

When Lu Jingning entered the mecha control room, he was still yawning. He glanced at the control equipment and activated its pheromone integration mode.

Just as the instructor said, it was a moderately sophisticated low-level mecha.

To Lu Jingning, it was similar to the small mechas that Lu Kongbin used to give him to play with as a child. It could be said that it couldn’t get any simpler for him. However, during the integration process, he inexplicably felt as if the pheromones were faintly colliding within his body.

A surge of heat, like an electric current, surged from his feet, instantly rushing to his head.

But just when he thought it would explode in his mind, that strange feeling seemed to disappear without a trace, as if it had never happened, like a fleeting illusion.

Lu Jingning furrowed his brow with confusion.

What was going on?

Chapter 20 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 20

Outside the West Gate, two figures stood side by side on the roadside, drawing the attention of passersby.

Jian Luan had just returned to the dormitory when he was dragged out by Wen Xingchen. With a puzzled expression, he couldn’t help but ask, “So what are we doing here? If you wanted to find Lu Jingning, couldn’t you have come earlier? Now he’s not here, and don’t you think it’s a bit windy standing here?”

Wen Xingchen leisurely replied, “Who said I’m looking for him?”

Jian Luan said, “??? Then why did you call me out?”

Wen Xingchen glanced at him lightly and said, “For a walk.”

Jian Luan: “…”

What the hell, a walk?!

He rubbed his temples with a slight headache and decided not to pursue the topic further. “So, are we just going to stand here like this all the time?”

Wen Xingchen started walking and said, “Let’s wander around.”

Jian Luan had no choice but to reluctantly follow.

The area near the West Gate was not a bustling place. It was said to have been a military parts manufacturing base in earlier years, but it had since been relocated, leaving behind a bunch of abandoned warehouses with few people visiting on ordinary days.

Jian Luan followed behind Wen Xingchen, feeling amazed at his choice of “walking” location.

But what else could he do?

He didn’t know, and he didn’t dare to ask.

While he was silently complaining in his mind, Wen Xingchen suddenly stopped in his tracks, lost in thought, almost bumping into Jian Luan. “What’s wrong?” Jian Luan asked.

Wen Xingchen didn’t answer; he just lightly sniffed.

A faintly sour and astringent smell seemed to pass by, and it stirred something in his heart. His gaze changed slightly as he looked around and suddenly locked onto a direction, taking long strides toward it.

Jian Luan’s senses weren’t as keen as Wen Xingchen’s, so he felt a bit bewildered at first. But after walking a while behind him, he suddenly felt a tingling sensation on his skin.

His whole body’s hair stood on end, and in the familiar sensation, he instinctively stopped, tightly covering his mouth and nose, his tone filled with horror, “Is this Lu Jingning unleashing his power?!”

Wen Xingchen didn’t answer. Although he didn’t know the exact situation, he could vaguely sense a strange disorder within this pheromone.

It didn’t seem like intentional suppression but rather an uncontrollable outbreak, wildly erupting and wreaking havoc.

“Wait here,” leaving behind these words, Wen Xingchen quickened his pace once again.

Jian Luan still had lingering fear in his heart and wanted to stay as far away as possible. Of course, he had no objections and squeezed out a sentence with his finger in his nose, “I’ll wait for you to come back!”

On the other side, Lu Jingning was almost amused by Zhong Feng’s redundant behavior.

“You useless son of a bitch.”

Muttering under his breath, he took a deep breath and leaned to the side, closing his eyes in exhaustion under the overwhelming dizziness. He no longer looked at the trash in front of him.

Zhong Feng, feeling like he was given amnesty, suddenly found a glimmer of hope in his almost collapsing heart. With the last bit of strength, he crawled and rolled to the entrance of the warehouse.

Struggling to stand up on his weak legs, he thought he could finally escape this calamity. But then he discovered a large lock hanging on the tightly closed door.

“…”

His vision went black, and he nearly fainted. Despairingly, he roared, “Where’s the key?! Who has the key?!”

Most of the small-time hooligans had already fainted from dizziness, and the few survivors were on the verge of passing out. They gasped for breath and replied, “D… don’t know.”

Zhong Feng could feel the pheromones in the air becoming increasingly intense. Subconsciously, he turned to look at Lu Jingning, whose face had turned crimson. His breathing was even more rapid than before, indicating that he was about to enter his heat at any moment.

Looking at the “prey” that should have belonged to them, Zhong Feng couldn’t help but shudder instinctively, almost unable to imagine what he would look like when he completely fell into chaos.

At this moment, their roles had completely reversed, and the initiator, Zhong Feng, felt weak like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered. In this situation, he felt as if he were just one step away from instant death.

The last thread of rationality finally snapped in that instant. Zhong Feng no longer cared about the consequences and took out his communicator to dial the emergency hotline of the security team directly.

The customer service representative calmly asked for specific details and location, then said in a gentle voice, “I have relayed and submitted your request for assistance. Please wait patiently in your current location.”

Zhong Feng went crazy, “Wait?! How long do I have to wait?”

The customer service representative replied, “Since the security team just finished their patrol, based on the location, it will probably take around 40 minutes.”

Zhong Feng: “…”

He couldn’t be sure if he would still be alive after 40 minutes.

After the last glimmer of hope was extinguished, Zhong Feng felt his strength leave his body, and he collapsed heavily against the wall, closing his eyes in despair.

If he could start over, he would rather stab his past self to death.

As Zhong Feng was contemplating in chaos about his last words, there was suddenly a loud noise behind him as the warehouse door was impacted by a force, causing the ground to tremble slightly.

He opened his eyes in astonishment and couldn’t help but feel ecstatic.

Didn’t they say it would take 40 minutes? Unexpectedly, the security team arrived so quickly?

Before he could think too much, the door was forcefully kicked open from the outside, accompanied by a gust of wind that dispersed the concentration of pheromones in the air.

When Zhong Feng saw the person who entered, he couldn’t help but be stunned for a moment, but the joy of surviving overwhelmed his thoughts.

No matter who had come, he had finally made it through!

Wen Xingchen quickly scanned the surroundings, and finally, his gaze fell upon a figure in the corner.

At this moment, Lu Jingning leaned against the wall with a flushed face. Sensing someone’s gaze, he looked up, and despite his heavy breathing and terrible state, he couldn’t help but curl his lips into a teasing smile. “Oh, Wen, didn’t I tell you that you didn’t need to come?”

Under the dense concentration of pheromones, Wen Xingchen felt something recklessly colliding in his mind. With great effort, he managed to regain a shred of rationality, but his expression inevitably turned solemn.

Although the Alpha around them had fallen into a stupor, it was not difficult to guess what had happened from the situation.

Just at this moment, Zhong Feng, who wasn’t afraid of death, spoke up, “Thank you this time…”

Before he could finish the second “thank you,” Wen Xingchen lifted his leg without hesitation, and it was a swift kick to Zhong Feng’s face.

The tremendous force sent Zhong Feng flying through the air, and he crashed heavily into the wall before slowly sliding to the ground.

In that moment before he closed his eyes, a thought emerged in his mind with a sense of relief: It’s better to be unconscious.

Wen Xingchen, after kicking Zhong Feng away, seemed to still be unsatisfied. Perhaps it was because he needed something to release the intense emotions inside him.

In an instant, everyone in the vicinity who still had a shred of rationality was kicked down, one by one.

Finally, Wen Xingchen felt that the fiery heat in his chest seemed to have calmed down a bit. He bit his lip tightly and took a step toward Lu Jingning.

Lu Jingning had barely held onto his sanity, but when he saw Wen Xingchen approaching, he completely relaxed.

And once he relaxed, the effect of the pheromones seemed to become even stronger. As Wen Xingchen reached out to support him, Lu Jingning instinctively leaned toward him, feeling an indescribable comfort. Subconsciously, he murmured incoherently, “Wen Xingchen, it’s amazing that you’re not afraid of my pheromones… An Omega’s heat is so annoying. I’m so hot now. Are you hot? You know, I never realized how good-looking you are… Hey, can you help me? I feel a bit unsteady now…”

Wen Xingchen had encountered Omegas in heat before, but it was the first time he had such a strong impulse to press someone against the wall and ruthlessly ravage them.

Using all the self-control he had in his life, he managed to resist losing his sanity to this enchanting temptation.

With clenched fists, after a long while, he coldly and emotionlessly uttered five words near Lu Jingning’s ear, “Do you want suppressants?”

Lu Jingning raised his head in confusion, “Huh? What did you say?”

Wen Xingchen averted his gaze, avoiding eye contact, and repeated, “I’m asking if you want suppressants.”

Lu Jingning rested his head on Wen Xingchen’s shoulder, and the pheromones emitted an Alpha scent that felt cool and piercing like a menthol cigarette. Under the chaotic influence of the turbulent aura, he was momentarily captivated, and in a daze, he murmured, “I can, but do you want me?”

After a long time, a voice devoid of emotion due to restraint sounded in Wen Xingchen’s ear, “No.”
