Chapter 49 – Secrets

Chapter 49: Secrets

Upon discovering Su Muluo had broken his formation, the man first fell silent, then looked astonished.

“It seems I’ve underestimated you,” he said, “I didn’t expect that thousands of years later, you would still be—”

Before he could finish his sentence, a dragon roar thundered from outside the small building, sweeping away all shadows with its overwhelming presence. Long Ling charged into the building, saying, “Phoenix!”

Su Muluo replied calmly, “I’m fine.”

In reality, he had only been trapped by the formation for a few seconds. The reason he was caught was because he hadn’t been on guard.

Long Ling, upon hearing this, was still not entirely reassured. He sniffed the scent on the Phoenix and confirmed that he was indeed uninjured, before casting his icy gaze into the air—

Now that the formation had shattered, a dragon bone floated in mid-air, surrounded by dark electric light, emitting an ominous hue.

At the sight of the dragon bone, Long Ling’s pupils contracted suddenly. In an instant, Su Muluo sensed the soaring hostility and murderous intent emanating from his own dragon’s spine.

He knew why, because that was the spine of his dragon.

He had once had a nightmare, in which his dragon lay bathed in blood, collapsing into his arms… At this moment, that dream finally had an answer.

Su Muluo wanted to move forward with Long Ling, but was stopped by him.

“Don’t move, Phoenix,” Long Ling’s eyes, tinted with a dark golden hue, were icy, yet his tone remained gentle when facing Su Muluo. “This is mine. I must reclaim it.”

Su Muluo looked at him and nodded after a few seconds. “Alright.”

The man obviously could hear their conversation, sneering coldly. The dragon bones flew out of the small building enveloped in black electric light — at the same time, Long Ling chased after without hesitation.

The next moment, two loud dragon roars almost simultaneously echoed. Su Muluo quickly stepped out and saw a large golden dragon soaring in the sky above the valley, instantly entangled with another black dragon.

“Oh my god!” The spirit of the jade pendant was shocked speechless, “I-Is that… Lord Long Ling’s kin?!”

Su Muluo remained silent with a calm expression. He had previously speculated whether the man behind the demonic spirit was a dragon, and now it seemed his speculation was confirmed.

The golden dragon was obviously fully grown, its scales shining like pure gold, standing majestically above the valley, resembling a sun ruling over all.

But if it was a sun, then the black dragon was a bottomless abyss, swallowing all light. It matched the golden dragon in size and was equally imposing, unaffected by the golden dragon’s brilliance, exuding an equally overwhelming aura.

The battle between the black and golden dragons was like two mountains colliding, their roars shaking the surroundings, their claws splitting mountains and shattering rocks. For a moment, darkness engulfed the sky, and the valley floor trembled, yet the small building stood firm, unaffected.

Spirit of the jade pendant: “Ahhhh, so frightening!!”

After all, it was just a spiritual entity and could not withstand such an impact like Su Muluo, who was the Phoenix himself. It immediately wanted to retreat into the jade pendant… But as it turned around, it suddenly saw something inside the small building and exclaimed.

“Lord Phoenix! Look there!”

At this moment, all of Su Muluo’s attention was on the battle of his dragon. It took several calls from the spirit of the jade pendant to distract him — it was this glance that caught his eye.

Inside the small building, a shadowy figure in a black robe with silver hair sat quietly in a chair.

It was a young man with silver hair loosely tied behind him, wearing a white shirt adorned with white feathers and dr4p3d with a black robe. His slender fingers rested on the table, knuckles slightly bent, eyelashes lowered as if contemplating, yet also waiting.

His skin was pale as snow, his features delicate and beautiful like a serene lake — Su Muluo silently watched him, a profoundly strange feeling welling up inside him.

This was himself.

The difference was that he now had black hair, while this version of himself had silver hair.

Outside, the battle between the black and golden dragons continued to intensify. Su Muluo waited for a few seconds and noticed that the shadowy figure hadn’t moved at all, seeming to be merely an illusion. He turned to go back to observe the battle.

But this time, it was again the spirit of the jade pendant that reminded him, saying, “Lord Phoenix, it seems like this illusion is about to disappear!”

Su Muluo halted, seeing the shadow on the chair gradually becoming transparent, as if about to dissipate. In that moment, as if guided by some force, he subconsciously walked over, lifted his hand, and touched the illusion —

At the same time, the illusion completely dissipated, a faint light merging into Su Muluo’s body, his pupils slightly contracting.

In an instant, he felt as if he had fallen from a great height once again, plunging into a cold abyss. The familiar sensation enveloped him, but this time, he truly seemed to sink into the depths, unable to breathe… It wasn’t until several seconds later that the suffocating feeling slowly faded away.

Boom!

A thunderous roar tore through the dark sky, and heavy rain poured down. Su Muluo realized he was no longer in the valley, or perhaps not in the time a thousand years later, but back thousands of years ago, in the original territory of the Phoenix clan.

He was dr4p3d in a white robe, drenched from head to toe in rain, his ink-black hair clinging wetly to his face. He coughed violently from the lack of oxygen… But as he lifted his head and surveyed his surroundings, he froze.

A dark sky hung over the land, rain washing away everything. He saw devastation all around, the exquisite pavilions reduced to rubble, only fragments remaining.

Mud and water flowed over the charred land, the air still tainted with the smell of blood and burnt flesh. This was supposed to be the ancient territory of the Bird Clan thousands of years ago, yet it resembled little of the vibrant valley of Tujian today.

Su Muluo looked around bewilderedly, intending to search for traces of his kin, only to realize he had been kneeling in the rain for who knows how long. His legs had gone numb, and as soon as he stood up, he collapsed into the cold rainwater.

His hands pressed against the ground, a stabbing pain shot through his fingers and spread throughout his body. When he lowered his head, he saw his hands drenched in blood, nails broken, fingers caked with mud…

Suddenly, a tremendous sense of panic engulfed him. It was a feeling of helplessness, as if everything had already happened and he could only watch, powerless. Ignoring the pain and numbness in his legs, Su Muluo struggled to stand up, staggering through the rain.

With each step, his heart sank deeper. The torrential rain seemed to have washed away everything, and he found nothing, saw nothing, about his people… It was as if they were all gone.

Suddenly, Su Muluo stopped in his tracks.

He saw a feather.

A bloodstained… blue feather.

This feather pierced into Su Muluo’s eyes like a sharp needle, tearing open the bloody truth. All his hopes shattered completely, as if plunging into an icy abyss, uncontrollably trembling.

At the same time, countless images flooded into his mind, his brain felt like it was splitting with pain, and he bent over in agony.

Accompanied by these images rushing in, he saw countless thunderbolts descending from the sky, like a torrential waterfall pouring down from the heavens, instantly swallowing the entire Phoenix territory —

The silent pavilions and towers vanished without a sound, the sorrowful cries of many Phoenixes echoed through the sky, blood-stained feathers fluttered, flesh and bones rapidly disintegrated, layer upon layer of blood splattered on the earth, staining the soil crimson…

This hellish scene lasted only a moment, but within an instant, it was over.

Then came the pouring rain, lasting for days, as if the heavens wept cold tears of destruction, washing everything away… The Phoenix clan also perished in this torrential rain.

His head felt like it was being gnawed by countless insects. Su Muluo knelt to the ground, feeling his internal organs torn apart, his flesh and blood severed, unbearable pain engulfing him.

Why… Why did it have to be like this…

Looking up, tears of blood streamed from the corners of his eyes. His once dark hair now turned white with shock. He wanted to speak, but could only utter hoarse and brief syllables — at that moment, he had even lost the ability to speak.

It was then that he heard a very faint sigh.

The sigh was close, right by his ear, and very familiar. It was his own voice.

“Some things, perhaps it’s better not to know them than to know.”

The voice spoke softly,

“Thousands of years ago, my clan was destroyed by the Heavenly Dao. I expended all my Nirvana power but couldn’t save them… It was then that I glimpsed some secrets of the Heavenly Dao.”

“Later, I sealed away my memories and part of my power, entering a deep slumber. However, I advise you not to unlock all the seals, because the final truth may not be what you wish to know.”

“But if one day he faces danger and your current power cannot protect him… then unlock the last seal.”

“Even if everything cannot be undone, at least you can save him.”

The voice faded gradually from Su Muluo’s ears. He clenched his fists tightly, feeling as if he was submerged in icy water, chilling him to the bone.

Those were words left to him by himself from thousands of years ago, and the “he” in the last sentence referred to Long Ling.

Su Muluo could even recall his expression back then, one of resignation and sadness… But why?

Why did he seal his own memories and specifically warn himself not to unlock the final seal?

And the secrets of the Heavenly Dao… were they related to him? Were they related to the demise of the Phoenix clan, and why he was the only Phoenix left?

Su Muluo’s mind felt like it was about to split apart. In those few short seconds, countless questions flashed through his mind. It was as if he had touched upon another world, one that he had never encountered before but was extremely perilous…

Cold sweat dripped from his forehead, his vision began to darken, and as the scenes of that great rain and the Phoenix territory faded from his sight, he finally lost consciousness and fell down.

Boom!

The sound of mountains collapsing echoed through the entire valley. A golden dragon slammed heavily into a cliff, causing the rocks beneath it to crumble inch by inch, turning into rubble.

It let out a cry of pain and anger. Its tough scales were torn off forcibly, revealing a deep wound on its abdomen that exposed bone, blood splattering and forming a bloody rain in the valley.

“If my power had fully recovered, how could I let you, you lowly…”

The golden dragon gritted its teeth, looking up at the black dragon towering above it with deep hatred in its eyes.

“Just you wait!”

Before finishing its words, the golden dragon disappeared from its original spot, while the black dragon did not pursue.

Although it had severely wounded the golden dragon, it too was injured. Just like how the golden dragon couldn’t kill it, it couldn’t easily kill the other either.

Moreover, there was something more important—just now, it sensed no trace of the Phoenix.

Returning to the small building with its dragon bones, the black dragon landed and reverted to its human form.

“Phoenix!” Seeing his Phoenix lying on the ground, his expression changed suddenly. He rushed over and held Su Muluo in his arms. “What happened to him?!”

The latter half was spoken to the spirit of the jade pendant. When Su Muluo passed out, the spirit transformed into a barrier to protect him, and now seeing Long Ling, it immediately recounted everything that had just happened.

“Lord Phoenix saw the apparition left behind from thousands of years ago, walked over to it, and stood there motionless. I called out to him many times, but he seemed not to hear me.” The spirit of the jade pendant said, “Just now, he suddenly passed out.”

After finishing speaking, it observed Long Ling’s condition and hesitated, “Wait, Lord Long Ling… are you injured?”

Long Ling did not speak. Just now, he had noticed that something had happened to the Phoenix. Even if he had to be injured, he had to deliver a fatal blow to the golden dragon quickly.

And now, his Phoenix lay in his arms, eyes tightly closed, perhaps trapped in a nightmare, with a pained expression.

Long Ling lowered his head and gently rubbed Su Muluo’s soft face against his own ear, gently coaxing him until his Phoenix’s expression eased somewhat, then he lifted him up.

When the man stood up, his eyes were dark, like a sea about to set off a storm, so much so that even the spirit of the jade pendant felt fear.

It silently shrank back and returned to the jade pendant.

Ignoring it, Long Ling hugged his Phoenix and turned away.

Chapter 87 – The master is poisoned

Chapter 87 (Extra 10)

“Master.”

Yu Wuxia’s voice trembled as he looked steadily at Jiaheng.

Jiaheng’s face burned with heat, flushed with embarrassment. No, his entire body was flushed, his eyes shimmering with a watery glow, reflecting the flickering flames, inexplicably making his eyes appear dazzling and captivating, stirring the soul.

“You ungrateful disciple.” Jiaheng’s lips hesitated for a long time, racking his brains to come up with just this one reproachful phrase, “Turn me back now!”

“Master… it wasn’t me who changed you.” Yu Wuxia spread his hands, looking innocent.

“If it wasn’t you, then how… how did I end up like this?” Jiaheng saw Yu Wuxia moving closer to him. Instinctively, he retreated, wanting to put some distance between them. He didn’t know what he had bumped into, but suddenly a sharp pain came from his tailbone.

He instinctively let out an “ah” and shrank back, turning around to see an upright dried branch on the ground. The branch had pierced the skin near his tailbone, leaving a faint trace of blood.

Yu Wuxia also saw this, his expression changing slightly. He stepped forward to support Jiaheng’s arm. “Master, don’t move.”

Jiaheng, as if scalded, pushed Yu Wuxia’s hand away.

When Yu Wuxia got close, the aura surrounding him made Jiaheng’s heartbeat erratic, as if he was trapped, unable to breathe.

“Don’t come near me.”

Yu Wuxia had no choice but to say, “Alright, Master, I won’t come near you. But let me take a look at your injury first.”

Perhaps fearing Jiaheng would refuse, Yu Wuxia added a request difficult to decline, “Master, I’ll lend you my robe to cover yourself, so you won’t feel embarrassed.”

Jiaheng: “Is this robe conjured by magic?”

Yu Wuxia shook his head. “No, maybe when I transformed into a relic, I was wearing clothes, so the clothes remained after I changed form.”

Jiaheng said no more, took Yu Wuxia’s robe, and put it on. With a cold expression, he said, “Wipe your nosebleed.”

Yu Wuxia quickly lowered his head to wipe his nose, only then realizing that he was actually having a nosebleed!

He glanced awkwardly at Jiaheng. The loose-fitting robe clung to Jiaheng, outlining his slender figure. Since he didn’t give Jiaheng the trousers, Jiaheng’s two slender, toned calves were exposed under the hem.

Yu Wuxia swallowed hard, reluctantly shifting his gaze away. “Master, there are many poisonous trees in this mountain. I’m afraid you accidentally touched a poisonous branch just now. If you got poisoned by the tree sap, it could be life-threatening. Please let me check.”

Jiaheng originally didn’t believe Yu Wuxia, but the wound at his tailbone felt hot, with a faint stinging spreading out, indeed like signs of poisoning…

He blushed, his lips pressed tight, caught in a dilemma.

Yu Wuxia said, “Master, lie down. I’ll only check your wound, nothing else. Besides, we’re both men, we should be straightforward about this.”

Jiaheng felt reproached, as if his modesty implied he had ulterior motives. He couldn’t help but glare at Yu Wuxia. Unnoticed, Yu Wuxia had already moved closer, his long arms lightly encircling Jiaheng’s waist.

“Master, just lie down.”

Above his ear was a bewitching voice.

“I only need a quick look.”

Jiaheng believed him, lying down in Yu Wuxia’s arms, not noticing that at the moment he lay down, Yu Wuxia’s eyes filled with an inky black desire, his intense gaze practically materializing on Jiaheng’s waist.

He gently lifted the hem of the inner garment, seeing the raised lines below the tailbone, his breathing suddenly irregular, another nosebleed bursting forth. Calmly wiping it away, his gaze nearly greedy, inching upward, resting on the spot pierced by the branch.

The wound was rather coincidental.

Right below the tailbone.

He reached out, touching the wound, feeling Jiaheng’s body suddenly tense. He steadied his breath, “Master, don’t worry. This wound looks strange, turning black. The branch might indeed be poisonous.”

Jiaheng didn’t speak, trying to get up, but Yu Wuxia lightly pressed on his waist. He felt that wherever Yu Wuxia touched, it was particularly hot, even more so than the wound.

“Master, don’t move. Let me examine it further.”

Yu Wuxia bent down, his breath falling on the area above Jiaheng’s tailbone. Jiaheng’s breath hitched, his hands instinctively grasping, only to find he was holding Yu Wuxia’s trousers, quickly letting go.

Behind him, Yu Wuxia’s voice sounded again.

“This black blood is indeed poison. I need to help you suck it out.”

“…” Jiaheng.

Before Jiaheng could react, Yu Wuxia’s lips descended. Jiaheng felt as if scalded, wanting to get up, but Yu Wuxia held down the back of his neck.

With just one wrist, he couldn’t move.

His head was pressed against Yu Wuxia’s leg. Yu Wuxia bent down, focused on “sucking” out the poison.

He could even feel the shape of the other’s full lips, like peach blossom petals, opening and closing on that nearly hidden spot.

Inexplicably, his body trembled, eyes filling with tears, his throat choked with words of refusal that couldn’t come out.

If only… if only he had known he needed to continue cultivating, he wouldn’t have ended up like this, utterly unable to resist.

A bizarre thought flashed through his mind: if Yu Wuxia decided to use force now, he wouldn’t be able to stop him.

Yu Wuxia saw the redness all over Jiaheng’s body and his own eyes turned red as well. He forced himself to look away from the swelling at the base of Jiaheng’s spine.

The wound was initially small, but after a few licks, it had become swollen and red. Of course, there was no poison. The branch wasn’t poisonous either; Yu Wuxia had only used it to scare Jiaheng.

To make Jiaheng believe him, Yu Wuxia even cast a spell to make the wound feel like it was burning.

He had deceived Jiaheng, not just about this, but also about having regained a portion of his cultivation after taking on human form. Simple spells were within his capability.

But he couldn’t let Jiaheng know now, or Jiaheng would give him the cold shoulder again.

Seeing it was enough, he released Jiaheng’s hem. “Master, it’s done.”

Jiaheng sat up, his hands pressed against Yu Wuxia’s chest, feeling the defined, strong muscles that seemed to twitch under his touch. Startled, he quickly pulled his hands back.

Somehow, all the strength seemed to leave his body, and he collapsed back into Yu Wuxia’s embrace.

Yu Wuxia chuckled softly, “Master, in the human world, this would be called ‘throwing yourself into someone’s arms.'”

“You… stop talking nonsense.” Jiaheng’s face turned red, and he could only manage this one sentence.

Yu Wuxia smiled, supporting Jiaheng. If he had known that his master’s cold demeanor was due to his lack of eloquence, he would have used words to conquer him long ago.

“Master, your dizziness is because the poison hasn’t been completely extracted. I need to help you draw it out once a day until it’s all gone.”

Jiaheng pulled his robe tighter, his brow furrowing as he looked at Yu Wuxia suspiciously.

He felt Yu Wuxia was deceiving him, taking advantage of him, but when he met Yu Wuxia’s “honest and upright” gaze, he felt like he was being paranoid.

After all, what was there to covet in that place?

Jiaheng asked, “Isn’t there a way to remove the poison all at once?”

“No, so it’s better for me to check on you daily, Master.”

Jiaheng said no more. The spot where the branch had pierced him didn’t feel like an ordinary wound; it burned, as if some toxin remained.

He bit his lip, uncertain, and asked again, “You really haven’t regained your cultivation?”

“Mm,” Yu Wuxia replied confidently.

He usually couldn’t lie in front of Jiaheng, but now his lust had emboldened him, making him unusually calm.

“Then how did I suddenly return to human form?” Jiaheng muttered to himself, puzzled.

After becoming a tiger, he had no desire to cultivate back into human form.

When Yu Wuxia fell into the demonic path, the Immortal had warned Jiaheng that form is emptiness, and emptiness is form. By losing form, one loses desire and thought.

So Jiaheng believed his human face caused Yu Wuxia’s wicked thoughts. He transformed into an aged figure, later a tiger, which he accepted and no longer cared about appearances.

Yu Wuxia reassured him, “Master, you were once an Immortal of the Thirty-Three Heavens. Your transformation is different from an ordinary tiger’s. You don’t need to worry. Whether in tiger or human form, your true nature remains the same. Master, you shouldn’t be troubled by this.”

“…” Jiaheng.

He hadn’t expected to be lectured by his disciple one day. He shot a glance at Yu Wuxia, turned his back to him, and closed his eyes, unwilling to engage further.

Suddenly, something came to mind, and he reluctantly said, “I heard you. I’m sleepy.”

He feared that if he didn’t respond, Yu Wuxia would kiss him again.

Yu Wuxia’s voice echoed in the cave, tinged with amusement, “Alright.” After a pause, Yu Wuxia added, “Master, sleep well.”

Jiaheng didn’t actually sleep well. His mind was chaotic, unable to shake off the image of Yu Wuxia kissing his tailbone.

He didn’t feel repulsed; rather, it felt tingly and numb, reminding him of the black panther Yu Wuxia once transformed into in the Thirty-Three Heavens.

He also remembered their time doing good deeds in the human world, how Yu Wuxia held his hand when they descended the mountain.

He thought about many things—growing clarity in his affection, unresolved mysteries.

The next morning, when Yu Wuxia woke up, he saw Jiaheng standing outside the cave, blending into the white mist.

Yu Wuxia’s heart tightened. He approached and called out, “Master.”

Jiaheng responded, looking up at the mist-covered morning light, “Follow me.”

Yu Wuxia didn’t ask any questions and followed Jiaheng down the mountain. The two walked in silence until noon, when Jiaheng finally stopped.

Looking at the calm river before him, Yu Wuxia suddenly remembered this place.

It was where they first descended the mountain to do good deeds, and where his faith in the Immortal first wavered.

“Do you remember the father who was trapped in a cycle because he saved his daughter in the flood instead of the pregnant woman?”

“Yes.”

“I told you that once you advanced in your cultivation, you’d understand the reason. But it became a knot in your heart instead.”

Hearing this, Yu Wuxia’s face reddened slightly.

Jiaheng sighed, “You only saw the father’s plight and felt indignant for him, but you didn’t see the entanglement between the father and the pregnant woman. Initially, the father brought his daughter here to escape a plague. It was they who spread the disease. The villagers despised them and drove them into the forest. Only the pregnant woman, occasionally kind, brought them food.”

“Later, when the flood came, the father and daughter were trapped in a landslide. It was the pregnant woman who brought them to the shore. But as the floodwaters rose, the bridge collapsed, and the pregnant woman and the man’s daughter both fell into the water.”

“The man didn’t save the pregnant woman, who was within reach, but instead swam to the center of the lake to save his daughter. That’s why the pregnant woman’s resentment was so strong—it trapped the man because she just wanted him to save her once.”

Yu Wuxia looked up at the calm surface of the lake. The resentment had dissipated. It seemed that after countless cycles, the father finally had an epiphany and broke the pregnant woman’s curse.

Or perhaps it was the pregnant woman who let go.

In this world, good deeds don’t always yield good outcomes.

They both needed to let go.

Only by letting go could they be reborn.

Chapter 86 – Really a wicked person

Chapter 86 (Extra 9)

Yu Wuxia didn’t dare to hold down Jia Heng directly, so he pretended to twist his ankle and fell onto Jia Heng.

The tiger groaned as he was hit, his black eyes half-closed, seemingly looking at Yu Wuxia with some disdain.

Yu Wuxia didn’t get off the tiger. Instead, he took hold of the tiger’s two front paws, staring intently at him.

The tiger felt embarrassed and avoided his gaze.

Yu Wuxia asked, “Master, why won’t you look at me?”

The tiger ground his teeth but said nothing.

Yu Wuxia’s Adam’s apple moved slightly as he swallowed. He leaned down, his breath scattering on the tiger’s face, and kissed the tiger’s furry face.

The tiger’s eyes widened instantly, his black pupils shrinking in shock, staring at Yu Wuxia like black beans.

How… how could he kiss him!

Such frivolous behavior!

Yu Wuxia swallowed again. “Master, I told you before, if you don’t respond when I ask you something, I’ll kiss you until you do.”

Jia Heng had probably never heard such shameless words before, his chest shaking with anger as he exposed sharp claws, ready to swat Yu Wuxia away.

Yu Wuxia quickly said, “Master, I just formed my human shape. If you hit me with your paw, I might revert to my original form.” To see Jia Heng sooner, he didn’t dare to slack off for even a moment while cultivating as a relic, allowing him to come out seven years earlier than planned.

Jia Heng’s movements froze upon hearing this, though the anger in his eyes didn’t diminish, and he let out a threatening growl.

“Master, if you want to scold me, just say it directly. Don’t express it with your eyes.

Otherwise, no matter how long you glare at me, I won’t know what you’re saying.”

Yu Wuxia spoke “honestly,” still not getting up, pressing down on Jia Heng and feeling his clean, smooth fur through the layer of clothes.

Even though there was a layer of clothing, the fur felt very good to touch.

Master is perfect in every way.

When in tiger form, his fur is smooth. In human form, his lips are red, and his teeth are white.

Jia Heng closed his eyes, initially not wanting to deal with this troublesome disciple, but remembering his disciple’s threat, he reluctantly spoke, “Let go of me.”

No matter how dissatisfied he was with Yu Wuxia, Jia Heng had cultivated to become an Immortal for many years and had never uttered a curse word.

Yu Wuxia noticed his master speaking, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly. As long as his master spoke, it was good enough for him.

Even if it was to scold him.

He released Jia Heng, who immediately stood up, shaking the dirt off his body and letting out another low growl to show his displeasure.

Yu Wuxia took a step forward, reaching out to touch Jia Heng, who turned abruptly, pretending to bite his finger, intending to scare him away.

But to his surprise, Yu Wuxia’s arm didn’t dodge, and his teeth sank into Yu Wuxia’s finger. He quickly let go, but it was too late. Yu Wuxia’s index and middle fingers were skinned, his teeth reaching the bone, and blood gushed out.

Jia Heng opened his mouth, his face full of tiger fur showing no emotion, but inexplicably giving off a sense of guilt.

Why… didn’t Yu Wuxia dodge?

Yu Wuxia clutched his fingers, tears welling up in his eyes from either pain or sadness, biting his lip as he looked at Jia Heng.

Jia Heng met his gaze, feeling more and more guilty.

He had just wanted to scare him.

“Master, your teeth are very sharp.”

Yu Wuxia didn’t complain much, just this simple sentence made Jia Heng’s previous dissatisfaction vanish, leaving only guilt.

Jia Heng said, “Why didn’t you dodge?”

Yu Wuxia held back his joy, for his master had voluntarily spoken to him again. He put on a facade of toughness, “Master, I’m currently without cultivation, weaker than an ordinary person, I couldn’t dodge.”

Jia Heng’s lips moved slightly, and after a moment of silence, he said, “The herbs you ground earlier, apply them to your wound when you return.”

“Okay.”

Yu Wuxia followed behind, his eyes burning as he looked at Jia Heng, his gaze filled with madness and possessiveness, never waning.

As he followed, his body suddenly lost control and turned into a relic, falling to the ground.

Jia Heng noticed the lack of presence behind him, turned around, and lowered his head to find the grayish-brown relic in the grassy field. Due to his finger injury, there was a tiny scratch on one corner of the relic.

A moment of stillness passed through Jia Heng’s eyes as he picked up the relic with his mouth and returned to the cave.

He placed the relic down, surprised to see it turn completely red, the redness almost bleeding, making him study it carefully.

How strange.

The relic could change color.

Was something wrong?

He leaned in, his breath lightly touching the relic, seeing it turn even redder, almost bleeding. He guessed it might be stained with blood from Yu Wuxia’s injury.

But how could such a small wound bleed so much?

Jia Heng couldn’t figure it out, feeling a bit guilty, saying, “Cultivate well, apply the medicine yourself once you return to human form.”

After saying this, he turned away, no longer looking at the relic.

That night, he couldn’t help but turn his head occasionally to check the relic, wondering when Yu Wuxia would transform.

Until the next evening, the relic hadn’t transformed, but the strange red color had faded.

He had no heart for hunting, staying in the cave, already a day and night without Yu Wuxia transforming. Could that bite have seriously hurt Yu Wuxia?

He got up to check the relic again, focusing on it, discovering that the relic was turning red again, initially with spots of red, gradually merging into patches.

Jia Heng clicked his tongue, guessing this wasn’t an injury, but an expression of Yu Wuxia’s emotions.

Was it blushing?

Realizing this, Jia Heng felt uneasy, letting out a low growl, turning away from Yu Wuxia again. When he had brought the relic back yesterday, it was completely red, probably because…

Jia Heng’s face turned red too, with a faint heat.

Feeling unsettled, he shook his fur and ran out, dashing and leaping through the forest, trying to suppress or vent something. The moonlight filtered through, like thin fog floating in the forest, as he weaved through the mist, running over rocky hills, never stopping.

The wind howled in his ears, as if chasing him.

He squinted his eyes and ran to the top of the mountain. Only then did he stop, standing at the peak, facing the fierce night wind. The strange irritability in his heart hadn’t subsided; instead, it had grown stronger. His mind involuntarily drifted to Yu Wuxia.

The tiger sighed helplessly, crouching on the ground like a bewildered big cat.

It wasn’t until dawn, after finishing the hunt, that the tiger returned to the cave.

As soon as he entered the cave, he bumped into a tall, slender man. The tiger paused, avoiding his gaze. The man wasn’t wearing a cassock, just a thin white robe that clung to his body.

He bent down and patted the tiger’s head. The tiger, feeling as if his reverse scale had been touched, roared angrily to intimidate him.

“Master, where did you go?”

The tiger didn’t want to respond, turning his head to rest on the stone bed, but Yu Wuxia grabbed his ear. Hugging the tiger’s neck, he kissed the tiger’s forehead, looking into his confused and even terrified eyes.

“…,” the tiger thought.

“Master, where did you go?” Yu Wuxia repeated slowly, turning the tiger’s head to face him. His rosy lips moved as he spoke, so close that the tiger could feel his breath.

The tiger was really angry, not understanding how someone could be so shameless. Seeing Yu Wuxia leaning in for another kiss, the tiger reluctantly said, “Hunting.”

“Oh.” Yu Wuxia’s eyes curved with a warm smile. “Master, you don’t need to hunt anymore. I’ll make food for you.”

Yu Wuxia turned around, and only then did the tiger notice the pile of firewood inside the cave, with two flints nearby, a small fire slowly burning, and a plucked wild chicken roasting on a spit.

While expertly roasting the chicken, Yu Wuxia said mysteriously, “Master, don’t you think this wild chicken looks like the Demon Lord’s true form?”

“…,” Jiaheng thought.

He didn’t expect that after all this time, Yu Wuxia still remembered the Demon Lord.

Jiaheng, afraid of the fire, kept his distance. “Do you still want revenge on him?”

“No.” Yu Wuxia smiled, flames dancing in his eyes. “I’ve won so many times; it’s time to let him win once.”

Though he said this, Yu Wuxia felt that losing once outweighed winning a thousand times.

Only after losing did he realize that his master cared for him too.

After finishing roasting the chicken, Yu Wuxia handed it to Jiaheng. Jiaheng said, “I’m not hungry, you eat.”

“I’m currently in my true form; I don’t need food. What I need is…”

“What?” Jiaheng asked, biting into the chicken.

“The essence of a man.”

“Ugh.”

The tiger coughed violently, his chest trembling and his back twitching. Yu Wuxia gently patted his back, his voice husky in the dim light, “Master, you’re the best.”

“Yu Wuxia!”

The tiger glared at him, unaware that a piece of chicken was stuck to his fur, making his angry expression oddly comical.

Yu Wuxia’s eyes darkened, and he leaned in, licking the chicken off the tiger’s mouth, smiling deeply, “Everything Master eats becomes especially delicious.”

“…,” Jiaheng thought.

Jiaheng wanted to slap him away but held back upon seeing his pale face.

“Master, can you transform into a human? You’re always in tiger form, and it’s a bit inconvenient for me.”

“What inconvenience?” Jiaheng asked coldly.

“Just some inconvenience.” Yu Wuxia noticed that his master’s thoughts were now influenced by him, calming his excitement, and hugged the tiger’s neck.

The tiger’s body suddenly stiffened.

“It’s inconvenient to get close to you.” Yu Wuxia’s gaze lowered, his long eyelashes almost brushing against the tiger’s fur. The tiger, uncomfortable, struggled to push him away, but in the next moment, the tiger suddenly transformed into human form.

Jiaheng wasn’t tall, but his figure was thin and delicate, with fair skin and a youthful face. Suddenly transforming from a tiger to a human, he was completely naked.

Every inch of his white skin was exposed, illuminated by the flickering firelight, like a veil of firelight.

Jiaheng hadn’t seen himself in human form for a long time. Upon seeing himself, he instinctively curled up, trying to cover his naked body, but there was nothing in the cave.

He had to cross his arms over his chest, glaring angrily at Yu Wuxia.

Yu Wuxia, at this moment, was staring intently at Jiaheng, with blood slowly trickling from his nostrils.

“…,” Jiaheng thought.

What a wicked disciple.

Truly a wicked disciple.

Chapter 85 – Ignored and kissed

Chapter 85 (Extra 8)

Jiaheng didn’t say anything, turning his head as if he hadn’t noticed the person behind him. His breathing grew heavier, and even his steps became heavier.

He hadn’t expected Yu Wuxia’s cultivation to progress so quickly. It was supposed to take ten years to take human form, but now it had only taken three.

Yu Wuxia must have already taken human form days ago, but he had been hiding it, deliberately deceiving him.

The person behind him remained silent for a moment, then slowly followed the tiger into the cave.

The light inside the cave was dim, as if stained by ink. The tiger lay down on a stone platform, as if sulking, without saying a word.

Yu Wuxia, pale-faced, sat opposite the tiger, admitting his mistake.

“Master, I didn’t mean to deceive you. I can only return to human form for one moment each day, so I didn’t tell you.”

In fact, he was afraid that if he told his master he had already taken human form, his master would abandon him.

He didn’t know his master’s current attitude towards him, so he had to be extremely cautious.

Jiaheng finally raised his eyes to look at him, his eyelids drooping, his expression hidden by the dense tiger fur on his face. “You still retain your previous memories?”

“Yes…” Yu Wuxia didn’t want to admit it, but under Jiaheng’s gaze, he couldn’t help but tell the truth.

It seemed he was always like this, unable to hide anything when facing Jiaheng.

Even though the person in front of him was no longer the lofty Immortal but just a tiger, his reverence for him remained unchanged.

Jiaheng had thought that once the relic cultivated back into human form, it would forget the past and turn into a baby, so he could take good care of it and be honest with Yu Wuxia.

But unexpectedly, Yu Wuxia remembered everything.

So…he really didn’t know what to say or what could be said.

The tiger felt a bit reclusive.

The reclusive tiger then put on a cold and aloof demeanor, ignoring Yu Wuxia. After asking this question, he turned his head and lay on the cool stone, lightly dozing.

Yu Wuxia opened his mouth but was speechless. He didn’t know what his master’s reaction meant and was too scared to breathe heavily, afraid that his master would find a fault and drive him away.

A quarter of an hour later, Yu Wuxia’s body transformed back into a relic with a “bang” and fell to the ground.

Jiaheng opened his eyes, looked at the relic on the ground without any emotion, picked it up with his mouth, and placed it on the stone platform.

When he turned around, he didn’t notice that the originally gray-brown relic had inexplicably turned red.

Even though his master had become a tiger, his mouth was still soft, and his tongue was also soft, seeming very kissable.

Yu Wuxia was delighted, and the silver light surrounding him began to flicker with joy.

Jiaheng walked out of the cave. The night was the best time for a tiger to hunt, with its senses particularly sharp. He lay in wait near the stream, waiting for prey to come for a drink.

Moonlight shone on the stream, reflecting shimmering waves. Occasionally, a fish would leap out of the water, seemingly playing joyfully. Usually, birds and beasts would come to drink by the stream, but tonight, despite lying in wait for a long time, Jiaheng didn’t see any prey. Tonight was indeed unlucky.

He returned with an empty stomach, not realizing that his erratic breathing while hiding in the grass had scared off the nearby animals.

It seemed that ever since he saw Yu Wuxia, he couldn’t calm down, though he hadn’t noticed it himself.

Fortunately, on the way back, he found a wild chicken killed by a previous beast’s hunt. He picked up the uneaten flesh and bones, barely filling his stomach.

The tiger returned to the cave but didn’t go in. Instead, he lay at the entrance, with fallen leaves and weeds perfectly covering his body.

He closed his eyes and fell asleep in the tranquility.

He didn’t know how long he had slept when he was awakened by the sound of grinding medicine. Raising his head, he first saw the wildly growing weeds, with golden sunlight streaming through, slightly dazzling.

The tiger lowered his eyelids and looked towards the sound, seeing Yu Wuxia grinding medicine with a stone.

Earlier, Yu Wuxia had stopped the bleeding on the tiger’s paw but hadn’t dared to apply medicine, fearing the tiger would discover his identity. But now that the tiger knew, he took the opportunity to gather herbs and grind them into powder to apply to the tiger’s paw.

“Master, have you lost all your cultivation?”

The tiger didn’t refuse his actions of applying the medicine nor did he respond, looking away into the distance.

Yu Wuxia awkwardly lowered his head. Perhaps due to his higher cultivation, he could now maintain his human form for longer periods. After applying the medicine, he asked, “Master, who hurt you?”

Jiaheng still didn’t speak. At that moment, a familiar scent of blood wafted through the forest. Jiaheng narrowed his eyes, his agile body leaping forward like the wind.

Yu Wuxia quickly followed behind, reaching a dense forest area with his master.

They saw a tigress trapped in a hunter’s trap, her back pierced by a blade, lying in the mud unable to move.

A tiger was trying to claw at the tigress, but couldn’t reach her, and instead, lost his balance and fell into the trap, his paw and chest pierced by knives, letting out a howl of pain.

Jiaheng circled the trap, the tiger inside growling menacingly, thinking Jiaheng was there to take advantage.

Jiaheng observed the tigers’ injuries. They were both trapped by knives and couldn’t move. He looked around, trying to find something useful, but there were only dead branches and leaves.

Yu Wuxia sensed Jiaheng’s blood on the tiger and glanced at the unhealed wound on its chest, realizing that this tiger had injured Jiaheng.

And now, Jiaheng wanted to save them.

Without asking, Yu Wuxia found a stone and threw it into the trap. The tiger initially endured the pain, pulling itself from the knives, protecting the tigress behind him, and growling at Yu Wuxia, trying to intimidate him.

When Yu Wuxia realized that the stones he had thrown hadn’t harmed the tigers, the male tiger’s roaring gradually subsided. The female tiger, despite the pain, pulled herself off the knife’s tip. Fortunately, the knife hadn’t damaged her vital organs, only piercing the skin on her back.

Seeing this, the male tiger immediately began licking the female tiger’s wounds, and she reciprocated by licking his.

Yu Wuxia, having stacked the stones sufficiently, watched the tigers licking each other’s wounds and estimated that they could climb out of the trap. He stopped throwing stones.

He looked at Jiaheng with a sense of accomplishment, his eyes conveying a desire for praise.

However, as usual, Jiaheng didn’t say much. His tail flicked slightly, and without even making eye contact with Yu Wuxia, he turned and left.

Yu Wuxia glanced at the tigers still engrossed in their mutual affection and then followed Jiaheng.

He felt a bit envious of the tigers, able to groom each other and express their affection, while he couldn’t even get his master to talk to him.

Could it really be as Si Lan said, that his master disliked him because of his bad temperament and inability to speak well?

Just as Yu Wuxia was deep in thought, his body suddenly underwent a change. He didn’t even have time to call out to his master before transforming into a relic and falling to the ground.

The last thing he saw was the ground covered in fallen leaves and Jiaheng’s receding figure.

Yu Wuxia felt a pang of sadness. He couldn’t move or speak now. The air around him was filled with the scent of earth, and with the wind blowing leaves everywhere, he feared that if he was covered by leaves, his master might not find him for a while.

As he was lamenting his situation, he suddenly sensed a shadow overhead, nearly blocking out the sky. In the next moment, something soft and warm enveloped him, picking him up in its mouth.

The breath from the other’s mouth was hot and engulfed his entire being.

The relic inexplicably began to glow red.

Master… Master had realized he had turned into a relic so quickly.

So, his master did care about him, just pretended not to.

Realizing this, the “red stains” on the relic floated gently, as if excited blood was coursing through them.

The tiger, naturally unaware of the relic’s changes, brought it back and then lay down on the stone platform to rest.

The relic focused intently on the tiger, and if his gaze could kill, the tiger would have long been dismantled and devoured.

His master, now in the form of a tiger, seemed kind-hearted but had lost his Buddhist compassion and no longer pursued cultivation, appearing content to remain an ordinary tiger.

Yu Wuxia hazily thought that if he wanted to be with his master in the future, he would have to take the form of a tiger.

He couldn’t help but recall the scene of the two tigers in the trap showing affection, causing the relic to glow even redder.

If his master would let him help groom him, he’d be willing to remain a tiger for a lifetime.

But now, his master wouldn’t even talk to him…

His master was so reserved, never saying much. How could he always guess what his master was thinking?

Perhaps he should follow the unreliable advice of that demon lord.

With this thought, Yu Wuxia felt much happier, and the relic seemed to move, almost like it was about to spin and leap.

Jiaheng, hearing the noise, glanced at the relic. After a moment of silence, he tucked his tail under himself, covering what needed to be covered.

Though he couldn’t hear the relic’s laughter, he could sense it was probably laughing mischievously.

“…” Yu Wuxia.

The next day, after Yu Wuxia transformed back into human form, he didn’t find Jiaheng in the cave, so he hurried out to search for him.

Lacking much cultivation, he could only rely on faint traces of aura to track Jiaheng, finding him slowly drinking water by a stream.

Yu Wuxia approached, but Jiaheng didn’t react, continuing to drink water.

Yu Wuxia thought to himself that his master had probably become so used to being an Immortal that he had lost all vigilance. Even when he got close, there was no reaction.

The tiger, after drinking, instinctively shook its fur and turned to see Yu Wuxia washing his face in the stream.

The tiger seemed to pause for a moment but still said nothing. As it turned to leave, Yu Wuxia’s voice rang out behind him.

“Master, I have many things I want to tell you.”

The tiger’s steps faltered slightly before continuing.

Undeterred, Yu Wuxia followed, saying, “Master, you said before that you did four things wrong regarding me. But I never thought you did anything wrong, nor did I ever blame you.”

The tiger, guessing what Yu Wuxia was about to say but not wanting to hear it, sped up, moving gracefully through the forest.

Once the veil was lifted, he knew what awaited them. He wasn’t resistant but wanted to retreat.

Or rather, he wanted to maintain the current situation.

Isn’t this just fine as it is?

Why do people always need to dig deeper?

Yu Wuxia, undeterred, chased after him, shamelessly saying, “Master, after turning into a relic, I’ve reflected on many things. I was too extreme back then, trying to change the six realms for my own sake.”

“I always thought you didn’t value me, that you hated me. But after reflecting, I understood your dilemma. For someone who tried to destroy your cultivation but claimed to love you, not killing him was already lenient.”

“But back then, I was foolish and couldn’t understand your good intentions. I forced you to be with me. If I had been smarter and understood your heart, we wouldn’t have ended up like this.”

The running tiger, hearing Yu Wuxia’s nonsense, couldn’t help but growl and glare back at him.

What nonsense was he spouting?

Why did it sound like they had long been secretly in love?

“Master, don’t ignore me. It makes me very sad.”

Jiaheng hadn’t expected Yu Wuxia to suddenly “act spoiled,” and almost stumbled.

This person was getting crazier.

The tiger ran out of the forest and into the fields, with Yu Wuxia chasing close behind.

He shouted, “If you won’t respond to me, I’ll kiss you every time you ignore me until you speak.”

“…”

Hearing this, the tiger slipped and fell into a ditch.

In the next instant, Yu Wuxia’s figure pounced, pinning the tiger into the dirt.

Chapter 36 – I want to bite the dog man back!

Chapter 36 – I want to bite the dog man back!

Zhao Qi tensed all over when Rong Tang embraced him like this, feeling waves of heat rising to his head.

This wasn’t their first intimate contact. Zhao Qi had been forcibly restrained by Rong Tang several times before, almost having his dragon egg squeezed to bursting. But until last night, no matter how close they were, he had never felt like this before. Normally, they were both men, and he was used to touching and joking around with his buddies, nothing serious.

However, everything had changed because of last night. He was no longer the carefree, happy straight guy he used to be; now, he was someone who had experienced both pain and pleasure with another man… a poor soul indeed. Just the thought that Rong Tang might be the one who had given him such conflicting feelings made him unable to meet those godly handsome looks head-on.

In his heart, Zhao Qi lamented: Ah, could it be that he no longer deserved the title of “straight guy”?

Before Zhao Qi could respond, Rong Tang tightened his grip a bit. “Zhao Qi?”

Zhao Qi struggled to maintain composure. “I’m afraid not.”

Rong Tang raised an eyebrow. “?”

“I am a sovereign of a nation. I meet many ministers every day. How could I possibly focus on just one person like you?” Zhao Qi said, “Unless we were stranded on a deserted island with no one else.”

Rong Tang smiled faintly. “That sounds nice.”

Zhao Qi couldn’t understand what was good about it. He couldn’t bear this ambiguous, uncertain atmosphere. Summoning courage, he turned around to meet Rong Tang’s calm gaze. “Rong Tang.”

“Hmm?”

Carefully choosing his words, Zhao Qi asked, “Last night, I drank too much. I don’t remember much. I didn’t do anything to you, did I?”

Rong Tang paused. “…”

Perhaps it was Zhao Qi’s imagination, but he felt that Rong Tang seemed a bit… shy?

Rong Tang cleared his throat lightly. “You called my name, and then I…” His gaze fell on Zhao Qi’s lips. “I didn’t expect you to bite so hard. I’m sorry.”

Instinctively, Zhao Qi covered his mouth. Indeed, he was right; his lips were bitten by Rong Tang. This was disastrous; his ideal image of Rong Tang as a celestial being was crumbling—how could a celestial man bite someone!

Rong Tang seemed amused by Zhao Qi’s reaction, a hint of a smile in his eyes. “It’s my lack of experience. It won’t happen again.”

Weakly leaning on the table, Zhao Qi sighed, “Yes, there won’t be a next time.” He would never repeat the mistake of last night. “After biting me, did you… do anything else to me?”

Rong Tang frowned slightly. “What do you mean?”

The words “did you top me” stuck in Zhao Qi’s throat. His face flushed; he couldn’t bring himself to say it.

Zhao Qi gave up and changed the subject. “Someone saw you meeting with the Prince Huai in the Imperial Garden.”

Rong Tang’s expression changed slightly.

“What did you both talk about?” Without waiting for Rong Tang’s answer, Zhao Qi continued, “Actually, I already know. Prince Huai has always wanted to rescue you from the palace. Yesterday, he probably brought it up again.”

Rong Tang did not deny it. “The palace banquet was crowded and noisy. He asked me to disguise myself as his attendant and seize the opportunity to leave the palace.”

“You didn’t agree because you knew I would let you leave the palace?” Zhao Qi asked.

“That’s one reason.”

“Are there other reasons?”

“Yeah.”

“What?”

Rong Tang looked at him. “You.”

Zhao Qi paused. “Oh…”

The two stared at each other for a long time. Zhao Qi tried to decipher something from the myriad emotions in Rong Tang’s eyes, but with his emotional intelligence, all he could see was Rong Tang staring at him like he was a fool, his expression bewildered and helpless.

”Your Majesty, let’s return to Yonghua Palace,” Rong Tang suggested, “that is where Your Majesty’s chambers are.”

”Hmm…” Zhao Qi almost agreed, “Let’s discuss it tomorrow. I’ll inform the Prime Minister tonight.”

Rong Tang’s tone was indifferent, “Your Majesty needs the Chancellor’s permission to decide where to sleep?”

”Exactly,” Zhao Qi complained, “You have no idea how tightly he controls me.”

After a moment of silence, Rong Tang compromised, “Alright. You can stay at Haiyan Hall tonight, but in the future, return to Yonghua Palace—I’ll wait for you.”

Zhao Qi thought Rong Tang believed both Haiyan Hall and Yonghua Palace were part of his harem. Tonight he would favor one person, and tomorrow he would need to favor another to maintain harmony in the harem.

After Rong Tang left, Zhao Qi turned over the paper with writing on it and, after careful consideration, circled the character ‘Rong’ of his name.

Before bed, Jiang Dehai helped Zhao Qi change clothes and noticed bite marks on his shoulder. “Your Majesty, does it hurt here?”

Zhao Qi shrugged. It did hurt a bit, but his whole body ached almost to numbness. The pain on his shoulder was nothing compared to somewhere else. “It’s alright.”

Jiang Dehai said worriedly, “These marks are deep. I saw blood.”

”Really?” Zhao Qi turned to look and couldn’t help but curse, “Damn, is that person even human?”

Jiang Dehai anxiously said, “Your Majesty, if these marks scar, what should we do?”

Gritting his teeth, Zhao Qi vowed, “Then I’ll bite back until he can’t function!”

Jiang Dehai sighed helplessly, “Let me apply some medicine for Your Majesty. There’s still plenty left of the ‘Jade Dew Snow Lotus Paste’ that Master Zhao Si brought last year.”

Zhao Qi snorted, “Zhao Qiao sells fake medicine. I dare not use his.”

Despite his words, Zhao Qi still let Jiang Dehai apply the medicine. He didn’t want any reminders of his life’s stains on his body.

As Jiang Dehai applied the medicine, he commented, “These bite marks have two circles. Did that person feel one bite wasn’t enough and had to add another?”

The cool ointment was comforting on his skin. Zhao Qi half-closed his eyes and muttered angrily, “Damn scoundrel.”

Jiang Dehai asked, “Your Majesty, I saw you circled the character ‘Rong’. Does this mean the ‘scoundrel’ is Young Master Rong?”

Zhao Qi shook his head, “I’m not completely sure yet. But…” He licked the corner of his split lip, wondering if Rong Tang had taken his first kiss.

Because of the ointment on his shoulder, Zhao Qi could only sleep on his stomach. The feeling of pressure on his chest was uncomfortable, making it feel like he couldn’t breathe even in his dreams.

Suffocating, hot, he tossed and turned in bed, his cheeks flushed, sweat pouring down like rain, his long hair sticking to his face, blocking his view.

A pair of cool hands touched his forehead. It was like a lost wanderer in the desert seeing an oasis, eagerly leaning towards the person and murmuring vaguely, “Help me take it off… so hot…”

Without hesitation, those hands skillfully removed his last piece of clothing. Yet he was still not satisfied, still hot. He knew only the man beside him could help.

The man’s fingers brushed his cheek, coming slowly to his slightly open mouth. His tone was cold, “If no one else touched you, how did this happen?”

He didn’t understand what the man was saying, instinctively taking those slender fingers into his mouth, kissing them to please.

The man’s breathing grew heavier, suddenly flipping him over from behind, covering him, gripping his shoulders, sternly asking, “And this? How did this happen?”

  Zhao Qi shook his head, “I don’t know, I don’t know…”

”If I hadn’t arrived in time, you…” The man didn’t finish his sentence, instead stripping himself, turning Zhao Qi’s face towards him, and biting his mouth roughly, covering the previous marks.

Wide-eyed, Zhao Qi stared blankly. Besides the fluttering gauze, he couldn’t see anything. The voice in his ears made his heart race even more, even the man was amazed at his response. “You like this so much, hmm?” He whispered by Zhao Qi’s ear, lightly laughing, “It’s so wet here.”

  …

Startled awake from his dream, Zhao Qi gasped for breath, realizing he was drenched in sweat. A voice sounded beside him, “Awake?”

Seeing the person sitting by the bed, Zhao Qi was momentarily stunned, unable to distinguish between dream and reality for a while before saying, “Brother?”

In the faint light, Xiao Shiqing’s face seemed clouded, “Hmm. Just got back, came to see you. Your face, very flushed.”

Zhao Qi used the back of his hand to feel the warmth on his cheeks, “A little.”

Xiao Shiqing frowned, “Are you feverish?”

Zhao Qi wiped his sweat, “I don’t think so. I just had a, uh, nightmare.”

”A nightmare?” Xiao Shiqing chuckled, “A nightmare that looks so amorous. Your Majesty truly is talented.”

Zhao Qi forced a dry laugh, “N-nothing like that. What time is it now?”

Xiao Shiqing poured a cup of tea and handed it to him, “Just past midnight.”

Taking a sip of the cool tea, Zhao Qi felt much better, “It’s so late already. Has Brother been busy?”

Xiao Shiqing replied, “Chen Li has identified the poison that afflicted the Western Xia Crown Prince.”

Zhao Qi hurriedly asked, “What poison?”

  ”Feng Return Powder.”

Zhao Qi was taken aback. He knew this poison; it was a secret drug of the Grand Jing Palace, typically used to execute imperial concubines, hence its name “Feng Return”.

”So, you’re saying the one who poisoned the Western Xia Crown Prince is someone from within the palace?”

Xiao Shiqing nodded slightly, “That’s a possibility. But if you were the culprit, would you use such a blatantly identifying poison?”

Understanding dawned on Zhao Qi, excitement rising, “This is a setup, an attempt to sow discord between us and Western Xia!”

Xiao Shiqing ruffled his hair, “You’ve thought this through. You’ve learned a lot recently.”

Zhao Qi smiled awkwardly, “Brother, should we inform Western Xia about this?”

  ”Yes.”

Zhao Qi was surprised for a moment, then quickly realized, “Anyway, if we don’t say it, the one who poisoned will find a way to let Western Xia know. It’s better if we tell them ourselves.”

  ”Mm.”

Zhao Qi looked worried, “But the people from Western Xia won’t think this through. Once they learn about Feng Return Powder, they’ll surely escalate the situation.”

Xiao Shiqing casually replied, “Let them make a fuss. You don’t need to worry about it. Taking care of your health is more important.”

Zhao Qi suddenly recalled the scenes from his dream earlier, cautiously probing, “Brother, why do I need to take care of my health? I’m not sick.”

Xiao Shiqing glanced down at him, “Didn’t you say your waist hurts?”

”Oh, right.” Zhao Qi felt embarrassed, “It’s my waist, haha, getting old, you know.”

He must have been overthinking. There’s no way Xiao Shiqing, the dignified Prime Minister, could be that scoundrel who would say embarrassing things like “flooding”…

After studying him for a moment, Xiao Shiqing suddenly said, “I haven’t given you your birthday gift yet.”

”Oh,” Zhao Qi grinned, “I thought you forgot.”

”I didn’t.” Xiao Shiqing handed him an exquisite sandalwood box, “Open it and see.”

Chapter 48 – Whom Do You Want to Kill?

Chapter 48: Whom Do You Want to Kill?

Long Ling stared at Su Muluo silently.

Su Muluo met his gaze and turned his face away.

Long Ling: “?”

He suddenly grasped Su Muluo’s hand and said, “I’m not happy!”

Why was he being called ugly?

Where was he ugly!

Thinking of this, he hugged Su Muluo tightly, determined to get an explanation from his Phoenix.

Su Muluo laughed as he was being swung around. “Alright, alright, you’re not ugly at all.”

Long Ling stopped swinging him and asked, “Really?”

Su Muluo nodded. “Really, you’re the most handsome.”

Long Ling hmphed and rested his chin on Su Muluo’s shoulder. “So, I was picked up by the Phoenix even before I hatched?”

Su Muluo replied, “You were picked up by Frost Li and then given to me.”

Long Ling nodded, “Oh,” and said, “Then I should thank him for letting me stick to the Phoenix even before hatching.”

Su Muluo’s eyes dimmed upon hearing this, his voice softened. “We probably won’t see him again.”

The Phoenix clan had long since fallen, and what they encountered earlier was likely just a remnant soul left by Frost Li thousands of years ago.

Despite the many years that had passed, Frost Li’s remnant soul remained, reacting to the presence of his people, guiding them to the Abyssal Ravine.

If he was here, were the other members of the Phoenix clan here too?

Su Muluo looked around, hoping to find remnants of other clan members, but all he saw was a desolate valley.

Long Ling noticed the subdued expression of his Phoenix and spoke gently, “Phoenix, don’t be sad. Since we’ve come here, we should be able to find more about them.”

Su Muluo nodded silently. Then he remembered something and asked, “Was it Frost Li who brought you here after I fainted?”

Long Ling replied, “No, I still haven’t seen him, but I felt we were approaching the Abyssal Ravine, so I brought the Phoenix down here.”

“He might have already left…” Su Muluo murmured, paused, and said, “Let’s go, let’s explore around.”

By now, the valley was faintly lit by dawn, but the light only lingered above the narrow sky at the top of the valley, never reaching the depths below.

With each step Su Muluo took, his heart sank further. In his dreams, the Phoenix territory was still lush with green hills and blooming flowers. But upon waking, all he saw was dry, cracked earth under a darkened sky, like a huge net pressing down on this lifeless valley, where not even a breeze could penetrate.

The Phoenix clan had fallen thousands of years ago, and even intact souls couldn’t last that long. Thus, he knew deeply that what they had just encountered was not the real Frost Li, but merely a remnant soul, a fleeting presence.

But he still held onto a glimmer of hope, thinking perhaps he could encounter other clan members or discover remnants of their former habitation. Yet, the desolate and lifeless valley was like a brutal hammer smashing his illusions, telling him that such hopes were futile.

Even if hope lingered in his heart, reality was immutable. His people had long departed from him, their very existence erased over the passage of time.

“Phoenix?” Long Ling sensed his Phoenix’s unease and gently held his hand. “If you’re not feeling well, we can rest before continuing.”

Su Muluo shook his head lightly and whispered, “I’m fine.”

Long Ling frowned. “Are you sure?”

Su Muluo remained silent.

In truth, when he was living alone in the mountains with a dragon egg yet to hatch, he never imagined he had a past closely tied to the Phoenix clan. He simply thought he was the last egg left behind before their downfall, separated by thousands of years from his kin. Even if he felt nostalgia, it was tinged with unfamiliarity.

But now, knowing he existed in that ancient time, lived with his clan, and possibly witnessed their departure before him—suddenly, an indescribable sadness surged within him, overwhelming him until he struggled to breathe.

“Phoenix,” Long Ling pressed his forehead against Su Muluo’s, embracing him tenderly. “If it hurts, just let it out. I’ll be here with you.”

“…,” Su Muluo slowly gripped the hem of Long Ling’s clothes, head bowed, and murmured softly, “I’m just wondering why I’m the only one who stayed.”

“…Why could I save myself, but not my people?” As he voiced this question, his heart was filled with confusion and sorrow, emotions that tortured him like insects.

What had his feelings been as he watched his people leave, one by one? Had he made efforts to save them, only to find himself powerless in the end?

Or had he simply stood by, watching them depart without doing anything?

In that moment, Su Muluo’s mind raced through many thoughts. He even felt a sense of helpless despair, eventually clinging tightly to Long Ling, closing his eyes, burying his face into his chest.

“If only I could have done more,” his voice, though calm, carried a hint of choked-up sorrow. “If only I could have saved them… even just one.”

Long Ling’s clothes were slightly damp, his brows furrowed as he looked at Su Muluo with distress. He raised his hand and gently stroked his own phoenix-like soft hair.

He didn’t speak, because he knew that what the phoenix needed now wasn’t consolation, but an embrace, a support, a place where his phoenix could release all emotions.

The valley quieted down, no wind, only faint sobbing. After some time passed, Su Muluo took a gentle breath, still tears on his face, but finally calming down.

“Pheonix,” Long Ling spoke at this moment, wiping the tears from Su Muluo’s eyes, softly comforting, “The demise of the Dragon and Phoenix clans may have been a destined fate, beyond anyone’s control. It’s not your fault.”

“And your survival might be what your people hoped for, perhaps even their choice to let you live… After all, as long as you’re here, the Phoenix clan is not truly extinguished. You will return here and remember them.”

Su Muluo’s eyes still glistened with tears, silently staring at Long Ling.

Long Ling smiled softly, kissed Su Muluo’s face again, and said, “So don’t be sad. Your people will guide you even after a thousand years, proving they don’t blame you.”

After a while, Su Muluo softly responded and leaned against his own dragon.

Thankfully, he still had his dragon by his side.

He thought.

Otherwise, if he came here alone, facing everything alone… he might really collapse.

Thinking of this, Su Muluo held Long Ling’s hand again, refusing to let go.

Long Ling’s heart softened, feeling like he had a clingy little chick beside him, couldn’t help but kiss Su Muluo’s face again.

Su Muluo looked at Long Ling without saying a word.

A smile crossed Long Ling’s eyes as his fingertips interlocked with Su Muluo’s, holding hands with him.

The valley was vast, and the two walked for a long time, seeing only desolate land along the way, as if it would never end.

After a while, Su Muluo remembered the jade pendant in his pocket, took it out, and awakened the spirit inside.

“Lord Phoenix!” The spirit of the jade pendant exclaimed as soon as it appeared, “Rest assured! Today, I will definitely— Oh?”

It looked around in surprise, “We’ve arrived! When did we get here!”

“Just now, I was guided here by Frostweed,” Su Muluo said, “Do you know Frostweed?”

The spirit of the jade pendant hesitated and weakly said, “You don’t seem willing to mention your people to me…”

This sentence further confirmed to Su Muluo that when he created the spirit of the jade pendant, his people had already left him. If they were still around, he would never have kept it from mentioning them.

“But I know why I keep getting lost!” The spirit of the jade pendant quickly continued, “Because there’s a force here that interferes with my direction. The closer we get, the stronger the interference—so it’s very difficult for outsiders to enter here. This should be a protective measure left over from before!”

Su Muluo realized, “So is your direction correct now?”

“Yes! Ever since we entered the Abyss, the interference disappeared!” The spirit of the jade pendant said, “Lord Phoenix, please come with me. I’ll take you to where you used to live!”

It pointed in a direction, Su Muluo and Long Ling glanced at each other and followed.

Before long, they arrived in front of a small building. The building was made of wood and had stood for thousands of years, without any signs of aging.

“Indeed, it’s still here!” The spirit of the jade pendant exclaimed joyfully, “Lord Phoenix, Lord Long Ling, we’ve arrived!”

Su Muluo looked at the small building in front of him, feeling an extremely familiar sensation rushing over him. He was sure he had lived here for a long time… But why did all the other buildings in the Abyss leave no trace, while this small building remained?

He asked this doubt, and the spirit of the jade pendant listened and said, “Actually, back then, there was only this small building here. You set up a barrier on it, saying that you hoped that when your future self returned many years later, you could still see it.”

Su Muluo was slightly stunned and asked, “Is there really only this wooden building here now? Are all the other houses gone?”

The spirit of the jade pendant nodded and said, “That’s right.”

Su Muluo didn’t say anything. He had thought that the old residence of his people would gradually disappear with the passage of a thousand years, but he didn’t expect that it had already vanished a thousand years ago.

Who could have done all this?

Su Muluo couldn’t understand all this. He needed answers urgently and walked forward quickly.

Long Ling said, “Wait, Pheonix.”

He held Su Muluo, and the next moment, thick black smoke emerged from the desolate land. The black smoke surged and condensed into twisted figures, like resentful spirits from hell, rushing towards the two.

Long Ling raised his hand, a strong momentum swept away, instantly obliterating those shadows. But very soon,

The black smoke condensed again, forming a pile of dark humanoid figures. These shadows weren’t individually strong, but they were incessant. Just as one was dealt with, ten more would appear—blink, and they had layered around the entire small building and the two figures in front of it.

Su Muluo frowned. “Are these the things left behind by that person?”

He remembered the man behind the demon spirit telling them about “Abyss,” saying he had left a gift there… These might be what he meant.

“Blowing hot air,” Long Ling scoffed lightly, then said to Su Muluo, “Phoenix, go inside first.”

Su Muluo shook his head. “I’ll go with you.”

“No need. It might take some time to deal with these things, but it won’t be troublesome,” Long Ling said. “You go in and see what’s inside first, in case they do something to this building if we delay too long.”

Su Muluo looked at him, and Long Ling gently said, “Go on. I’ll be right at the door of the building. You’ll see me as soon as you turn back.”

As he spoke, he raised his hand and swept away a large number of shadows.

Su Muluo hesitated for a moment. He knew those shadows couldn’t harm Long Ling at all, but he still cast a barrier around his dragon so those shadows couldn’t approach him.

“I’ll take a look inside and be back soon,” Su Muluo said. “Don’t go far. I want to be able to hear your voice the whole time.”

Long Ling nodded. “Got it.”

With that, he leaned over and lightly bit Su Muluo’s lips.

The spirit of the jade pendant exclaimed, “Oh!”

Su Muluo: “…”

He tugged at Long Ling’s clothes, turned, and walked into the small building.

Long Ling stood guard at the door of the small building. When Su Muluo opened the door, he found the interior was as clean as new, after millennia, not a speck of dust anywhere.

The spirit of the jade pendant sensed his confusion and said, “This is also the law Lord Phoenix set up back then. Because you found it troublesome to clean here, you specifically studied the dust-free spell.”

Su Muluo fell silent. Back then, he seemed stronger than now. This spell, including the barrier around the small building, surviving to this day, explained a lot.

The furnishings in the small building were simple, with only some furniture casually placed on the ground floor. He saw a carved peach-red wooden table, and on the table was something wrapped in cloth. He stepped forward.

—On the square tabletop lay an elongated object wrapped in cloth, but he didn’t know what was inside.

“Did I leave this here too?” Su Muluo asked.

“Ah… I’m not sure about this,” the spirit of the jade pendant struggled to remember. “Perhaps it was left behind after you gave me to the avian clan?”

Su Muluo considered this possibility. Glancing back at Long Ling, who was still guarding the door, he felt reassured and picked up the object—

Just as his hand touched the cloth, black lightning suddenly surged out from underneath. In an instant, ominous thunder pierced through the entire room, accompanied by the intense sound of electricity, as countless chains seemed to bind Su Muluo tightly, while at the same time, a formation appeared under his feet!

Su Muluo doubled over in pain, ancient bells roaring in his ears, shaking his very soul. Blood surged in his throat, barely hearing his dragon’s voice speaking to him from afar… Only one voice was so close, right next to his ear.

“Fenghuang, do you know why I can enter here?”

The cold, sinister voice chuckled softly, like a sticky venomous snake crawling over his body, causing a nauseating disgust.

“Because I have a piece of that vile black dragon’s spine, taken from him by my own hands—”

Su Muluo’s vision darkened. He struggled to lift his eyes and saw something floating in the air under the cloth… It was a section of dragon bone shrouded in black aura.

“And now, I will kill him right in front of you… This is my gift to you.”

“Hahaha—”

The man finished speaking with a roar of laughter, his voice filled with triumphant malice.

——But in the next moment, Su Muluo pressed his hand down forcefully. His slender fingers and bones surged, gripping the tangible black lightning that bound him, tearing it apart forcefully.

The formation shattered instantly, and the man’s laughter abruptly stopped.

The chaotic black lightning reflected off Su Muluo’s snow-white skin. His ink-black eyes were as cold as the eternal snow on a mountain, radiating a chilling intent to kill.

He said coldly, “Who did you say you were going to kill?”

The man: “…”

Chapter 35 – My waist hurts.

Chapter 35 – My waist hurts.

Zhao Qi: ???

Hello, do you have something to say? If not, don’t speak nonsense, I can’t take anymore, thank you.

Xiao Shiqing glanced at Zhao Qi, his eyes writing two big words: Explain.

Zhao Qi felt wronged, waving his hands, “I don’t know, I don’t know anything!”

Li Chisu, with an “I understand” look, said, “Then it was my mistake. Prime Minister, just pretend you didn’t hear anything.” He paused, speaking meaningfully, “If Your Majesty wants to drink in the future, remember to invite me.”

Zhao Qi: “…Huh?”

Li Chisu smiled, “When Your Majesty is drunk, the things you do are not only interesting but also… hard to resist.”

Zhao Qi felt the urge to cough up blood. Seeing Xiao Shiqing’s face darken and Li Chisu’s mischievous expression, he couldn’t help but cry out inwardly: This is a disaster!

Xiao Shiqing’s smile faded, and his tone turned cold, “Does the Emperor treat everyone the same when drunk, regardless of who they are? Interesting indeed.”

Zhao Qi, unable to bear it any longer, pointed at Li Chisu and stood up abruptly, “Li Chisu, if you keep talking nonsense, don’t blame me for being ruthless! Ouch—ouch—ouch—” A sharp pain shot through his waist, causing Zhao Qi to cry out, “Help, my waist, it’s twisted!”

Li Chisu stepped forward to support Zhao Qi, but Xiao Shiqing got there first.

“What use are you,” Xiao Shiqing gently massaged Zhao Qi’s waist, “You should just go back to the palace and rest.”

Zhao Qi, holding onto Xiao Shiqing’s hand, sat back down weakly, “I’m fine.”

“Your Majesty doesn’t look fine. Prime Minister, your technique for massaging the waist seems inexperienced, why not let me try?” Li Chisu smiled, “I am confident my technique is better.”

Xiao Shiqing sneered, “Prince Zhaonan is indeed skilled in this area, I naturally can’t compare.”

Was it his imagination? Why did it feel like Li Chisu and Xiao Shiqing were… flirting?

Zhao Qi calmed himself and asked, “Prince Zhaonan, when are you returning to Nanzhou?”

Li Chisu: “…”

“My birthday is over, if you have no other matters, pack up and leave soon.” Zhao Qi said sincerely, “The officials and people of Nanzhou need you.”

“To be honest, Your Majesty,” Li Chisu smiled, “Before I left for the capital, the civil and military officials of Nanzhou repeatedly reminded me to return with a wife.”

Zhao Qi, puzzled, asked, “What do you mean?”

Xiao Shiqing said indifferently, “He means he’s looking for a princess to marry.”

At this, Zhao Qi’s heart tightened. He wasn’t sure if Li Chisu had given up the idea of marrying him as the princess, so he tentatively said, “Then the officials of Nanzhou must have the same thought as me and the Empress Dowager. My younger sister, Princess Jiayan, is seventeen and unmarried…”

Li Chisu said, “Your Majesty, the Prime Minister summoned me here for an important matter, didn’t he?”

“Oh, right, right. The main business is important, I almost got sidetracked by you guys.” Zhao Qi was a bit annoyed. Look at them, three of them, one emperor, one powerful minister, and one vassal prince, instead of discussing important matters, they spent half the day talking about who had better skills—at this rate, how could the Great Jing not be destroyed?

Xiao Shiqing said, “Last night at the palace banquet, the first prince of Xixia left midway and disappeared; after the banquet, he was found dead behind a rockery in the Imperial Garden, bleeding from all orifices, with no other wounds on his body, indicating he was poisoned. It was heard that Prince Zhaonan was also seen alone in the Imperial Garden last night. What were you doing there?”

Li Chi Su calmly said, “The reason I went to the Imperial Garden was because I was invited by someone.”

Xiao Shi Qing raised an eyebrow slightly. “Who?”

Li Chi Su shook his head lightly. “I don’t know either.” He took out a note and handed it to Zhao Qi. “This is what I received at the palace banquet.”

Zhao Qi read the note aloud, “Please have the Prince come to the Imperial Garden for an important matter—unsigned?”

“Yeah, I waited for a long time in the Imperial Garden, but the person who invited me didn’t show up.”

Zhao Qi passed the note to Xiao Shi Qing. “Prime Minister, take a look.”

Xiao Shi Qing pinched the note with his fingertips, then sniffed it lightly. “I will have someone investigate this.”

Li Chi Su nodded. “During the brief time I was at the Imperial Garden, just two cups of tea, I didn’t see the person who invited me, nor did I see the Prince of Western Xia. However, I did see two interesting individuals.” Li Chi Su paused halfway through his words and asked Zhao Qi, “Your Majesty, care to guess who they were?”

Zhao Qi didn’t give him any face. “I won’t guess.”

Li Chi Su sighed helplessly. “Your Majesty.”

“If you want to say it, say it,” Zhao Qi said woodenly, “I won’t force you.”

Xiao Shi Qing’s lips curled slightly. “Prince Huai and Rong Tang.”

“What?” Zhao Qi exclaimed.

“Prince Zhaonan saw them both in the Imperial Garden.”

Li Chi Su smiled. “Truly, nothing escapes the Prime Minister’s eyes.”

Curious, Zhao Qi asked, “How did the Prime Minister know?”

“At the palace banquet, they left their seats one after another, and considering their previous relationship, it’s normal for them to make private arrangements.”

“Does Your Majesty wish to summon Rong Tang and Prince Huai for questioning?” Li Chi Su asked.

Zhao Qi hesitated. “This…”

Xiao Shi Qing glanced at Zhao Qi and asked, “After Prince Zhaonan didn’t meet the inviter, where did he go?”

Li Chi Su pressed his lips together. “I can’t say, and I dare not say.”

Suddenly, Zhao Qi had a guess. “Please trouble Prince Zhaonan to make a trip. The Prince can go back to rest.”

“Alright.” Li Chi Su looked at Zhao Qi affectionately. “Your Majesty, we’ll drink together as you promised.”

Pointing outside the window, Zhao Qi said, “Do you see that tree outside?”

“I see it.”

“It’s cooler there. Go and wait.”

Teased like this, Li Chi Su laughed instead of getting angry. “Ah, if only Your Majesty were as lovely as last night more often.”

With that, Li Chi Su walked away, paying no heed to how displeased the two behind him looked.

Xiao Shi Qing seemed to be suppressing his anger, while Zhao Qi, though unaware of the reason, nervously twisted his fingers. “Brother?”

Xiao Shi Qing uttered a grunt. “Come here.”

“Brother called me over. Is… something wrong?” Survival instinct made Zhao Qi’s tone slightly coquettish. “My back hurts, and I can’t walk.”

Xiao Shi Qing remained silent for a moment before asking, “Why does it hurt?”

Because that bastard went too hard.

Did you think I’d actually say that?! I’m not stupid!

Zhao Qi thought for a moment. “Because I drank too much last night? I heard that some people’s backs hurt when they drink too much.”

Xiao Shi Qing looked at him with complicated emotions. “…Forget it.” He walked up to Zhao Qi. “Come.”

“Go where?”

“Back to the palace to rest.”

“Oh. Wait, ‘come’?”

Xiao Shi Qing said coldly, “You said you can’t walk.”

“…Yes, but can’t you carry me on your back?” Zhao Qi couldn’t understand why everyone liked to princess-carry him. Shouldn’t the normal reaction of a straight guy be to carry on the back to show off his strength?

Xiao Shi Qing said coldly, “No.”

“Oh.”

Zhao Qi lay on Xiao Shi Qing’s back. “Brother Prime Minister, if you’re tired, just put me down. I can walk by myself.”

“Not tired.”

“But Brother, you’re obviously walking slower than before.”

“Shut up.”

“I won’t.” Zhao Qi said, “Brother, the Hall of Government is quite far from Yonghua Palace. You’re not Changzhou. How can you carry me so far?”

Xiao Shi Qing stopped. “Then let him come and carry you?”

Zhao Qi thought it was a good idea. “Okay.”

Xiao Shi Qing chuckled.

In any case, Xiao Shi Qing carried Zhao Qi back to Haiyan Palace. After putting him down, he left without saying much. Zhao Qi scratched his head. Didn’t he just say he was going back to Yonghua Palace?

At night, Jiang Dehai brought supper. Seeing Zhao Qi sitting at the table with a troubled expression, he said, “The Imperial Kitchen made Emperor Xi’s favorite pig’s trotters. Please have one, Emperor.”

Zhao Qi didn’t look at him. “Take it away, take it away, and I’m not hungry.”

Jiang Dehai put the pig’s trotters aside and walked over to Zhao Qi to see. “Is it Rong, Li, Xiao, He… Your Majesty, are you writing a little person?”

“Um, these four people went to Yonghua Palace last night. Each one of them has the suspicion of sleeping with me!” Zhao Qi stared at the four words, and hated not to stare at a hole. “Who is it, who is it! Lao Jiang, what do you think?”

Jiang Dehai thought, “The slave thinks it’s Prince Zhaonan.”

Zhao Qi shook his hands. “I don’t like your answer, you give me a change!”

Jiang Dehai replied, “That’s the prince?”

Zhao Qi bowed his head. “I can’t accept this answer.”

Jiang Dehai smiled bitterly. “That is the General He?”

“Changzhou is not that kind of person.” Zhao Qi uses a pen to cross the word “He” and crosses the word, “he is my brother, he can’t come up hard.”

Jiang Dehai shook hands, “that is the only remaining premier.”

Zhao Qi said and shook his head, “he considered the future, I was a word in the puppet to make a puppet – who has seen that?”

The master and servant fell into silence together. Jiang Dehai said, “Could there be someone else who entered Yonghua Palace that His Majesty isn’t aware of?”

Zhao Qi’s face turned pale. “No, four people are already too much. If there are more, I might as well just throw myself off a cliff.”

Outside, Xiao Jinzi’s voice came, “Your Majesty, Young Master Rong is here.”

Why would Rong Tang come to find him so late? Remembering the kiss Rong Tang had pressed to his forehead this morning, Zhao Qi’s cheeks flushed. “Tell him I’m already asleep.”

Xiao Jinzi replied, “Yes.”

“Wait,” Zhao Qi turned over the paper with writing on it, “actually, let him in.”

After Rong Tang entered, Zhao Qi couldn’t seem to focus his gaze. “What are you looking for me for?”

“Well,” Rong Tang said, “why hasn’t Your Majesty returned to Yonghua Palace?”

Zhao Qi didn’t expect him to ask this right away, almost like a spot check. “I forgot.”

Rong Tang looked at him calmly. “Your Majesty promised me.”

“Yes,” Zhao Qi felt overwhelmed, “but I still have matters to attend to.”

At this moment, Zhao Qi felt like a scoundrel, spinning lies to placate his spouse.

Rong Tang’s demeanor turned icy. “Is it matters, or is it someone?”

Zhao Qi was baffled. “Huh?”

Rong Tang stared into his eyes. “I’ve been waiting for you. How much longer do you want me to wait?”

Wide-eyed, Zhao Qi said, “Rong Tang…”

Zhao Qi’s astonishment softened Rong Tang’s heart. He sighed and some of the chill around him dissipated. He embraced Zhao Qi from behind, resting his chin on his shoulder, and whispered softly, “Zhao Qi, don’t look at anyone else, just look at me, okay?”

Author’s Note: Rong Rong has finally lightened up a bit, but he’s going to turn dark again. Warning, Your Majesty, into the little black room.

I’ve read all the comments from yesterday. I’ve decided to take a girl’s suggestion and give the little one a name —

Little One: Father, why does my little brother have such a nice name and mine is so ugly? (╥╯^╰╥)

Qi Qi: Because your name was given by me, and your little brother’s was given by your father.

Little One: Then why did Father name me “Zhao Cao”? ←_←

Qi Qi: Because when I was pregnant with you, the word “Cao” (it means f*ck in mandarin) was on my mind the most. Hahaha.

Little One: Am I really Father’s biological child? (Thoughtful consideration)

Chapter 47 – Many Years Ago

Chapter 47: Many Years Ago

“…”

After Long Ling spoke, there was a moment of silence in the bathroom.

Tick, tock.

The room was extremely quiet. Long Ling heard a drop of water fall in the bathroom, landing on the floor… At that moment, he couldn’t wait any longer. He opened the bathroom door directly and stepped inside.

The steam hadn’t dissipated in the bathroom. His phoenix was curled up under the shower, his snowy white shirt soaked from neck to face, his cheeks flushed red, and his beautiful eyes shimmering with moisture.

He trembled all over, his black hair messy and scattered over his shoulders, his entire demeanor just as chaotic and enticing as Long Ling had imagined.

Long Ling walked quickly over, bent down, and lifted his phoenix. He felt the astonishing heat of his skin in his palm. Su Muluo reached out and gripped his shirt tightly, burying his face deeply in his chest.

Long Ling said, “Phoenix?”

Su Muluo didn’t speak.

So Long Ling turned around, carried his phoenix back to the bed, afraid he might catch a cold. He pulled the blanket over his exposed long legs, gently cupped Su Muluo’s face with one hand, and whispered, “Phoenix, don’t be afraid of me.”

“…”

Su Muluo still didn’t speak, just lowered his eyelashes. He curled up in Long Ling’s embrace, his consciousness stretched to the breaking point, about to snap at any moment.

However, in his dazed state, he had a premonition that this estrus was different from the last time, seemingly not something that could be resolved with just a kiss…

In the midst of Su Muluo’s confused thoughts, Long Ling had already kissed his lips. Like before, he did not refuse.

But after the kiss, the heat on his body did not subside. He still trembled, clutching Long Ling’s shirt tightly.

This was a situation Long Ling hadn’t anticipated. He looked down in surprise at his phoenix.

Su Muluo buried his face, his ears tinged with a deep crimson, his voice low and filled with embarrassment: “I… don’t want to be here…”

He didn’t want to be in this unfamiliar place, in this strange hotel, with his dragon…

After a brief astonishment, Long Ling quickly understood. This time, the situation was clearly more serious than before, and a kiss wouldn’t solve it.

But his phoenix was unwilling.

After pondering for a moment, Long Ling’s hand gently stroked Su Muluo’s slender back, soothing his phoenix’s tension and unease.

“Phoenix, don’t worry,” Long Ling murmured into Su Muluo’s ear, “It’s okay if you don’t want to be here. I won’t push it to the end.”

Su Muluo’s eyelashes trembled, he looked up at him, his ink-colored eyes like a pool of fine wine, hazy and intoxicating.

Long Ling softly said, “There’s another way… I can teach it to you.”

The next morning, the morning sunlight spilled through a corner of the curtain, and Long Ling opened his eyes.

The chaos and ambiguity of last night had passed. The low moans and pleading cries still echoed in his ears. Long Ling lowered his head and looked at the phoenix in his arms.

After the night, the blush at the corners of Su Muluo’s eyes had not faded, and there were still traces of tears on his face. He nestled softly in Long Ling’s arms, deeply asleep, showing no signs of waking up.

A smile uncontrollably crept onto Long Ling’s lips. He leaned over and gently nuzzled his phoenix a few times, then kissed him on the cheek.

They hadn’t gone all the way last night, but before that, they had done what needed to be done.

The tears and gasps of his phoenix throughout the night were tightly held in his hands, unable to let go.

Long Ling hugged Su Muluo tightly, feeling joyous in his heart, and couldn’t help but kiss his phoenix’s face again.

Perhaps next time, he would truly possess his own phoenix.

Just as Long Ling was thinking this, Su Muluo in his arms stirred gently.

Just waking up, Su Muluo’s mind was still somewhat blank. He raised his head drowsily— and met Long Ling’s smiling amber eyes.

“Phoenix,” Long Ling chuckled softly, “Did you sleep well?”

Su Muluo: “…………”

He stayed in Long Ling’s embrace for a few seconds, then suddenly reverted to his original form and flew away.

Long Ling: “?”

He immediately sat up, watching as Su Muluo transformed back into a little phoenix and landed on the bedside, silent, turning his back to him.

Withdrawing into himself, not wanting to talk.

Long Ling thought his phoenix wanted to fly away, but unexpectedly, he just landed on the bedside. He sighed in relief, leaned over, lightly poked it, and said, “Is the phoenix unhappy?”

The little phoenix remained silent.

Boldly, Long Ling reached out and scooped up the round little phoenix directly into his arms, stroking its head and asking with a smile, “Do you want a kiss?”

Little phoenix: “…Chirp.”

I’m not paying attention to you.

“I didn’t do anything wrong. Why are you ignoring me?” Long Ling blinked innocently, “It was the phoenix’s own choice,” he added fearlessly, “And didn’t the phoenix also like it last night?”

Little Phoenix: ?

Upon hearing this, Little Phoenix immediately pecked Long Ling.

Long Ling laughed and held his phoenix in his hands, quickly petting it.

Little Phoenix: …

Little Phoenix remained silent for a few seconds, fluttering its wings to fly to the top of Long Ling’s head. Instead of pecking him again, it quietly nestled down.

Long Ling thought to himself: His phoenix is shy.

Feeling pleased, Long Ling continued to have the small phoenix on his head as he headed to the bathroom.

While washing up, Long Ling looked at the little phoenix through the mirror, noticing how it would quickly turn its head away when caught looking, which made him want to laugh.

But since the phoenix was shy right now, laughing would only embarrass it more, so Long Ling just coughed lightly with his fist against his mouth.

The shy phoenix is so cute, incredibly cute.

He thought.

However, if it’s shy like this now, what will its reaction be next time?

Thinking about this, Long Ling felt a bit of anticipation in his heart, but he didn’t say it aloud—he knew if he did, he’d probably get pecked.

After washing up, the dragon and the phoenix set off again. Outside the hotel, Long Ling took out a jade pendant and said, “This time, don’t point us in the wrong direction again.”

The spirit in the jade pendant immediately swore with great determination, “You can rest assured! Today, we will definitely reach the Su Yuan!!”

Long Ling raised his head slightly, and the little phoenix on his head made a chirping sound.

Seemingly not entirely convinced.

Long Ling said, “I see.”

The spirit in the jade pendant didn’t understand the chirp of the little phoenix, nor did it know what they were talking about, “Lord Long Ling, what did you say?”

Long Ling said, “It’s nothing, just lead the way.”

Although the spirit in the jade pendant had been insisting that Su Yuan was very close to them and they would definitely reach it today, Long Ling still maintained a skeptical attitude… Hours later, he found his suspicions were correct.

“No, this can’t be!” The spirit in the jade pendant collapsed, “It must be here! How could I have gone wrong?!”

By now, they had been walking in a deep mountain forest all day, surrounded only by tall trees as far as the eye could see, seemingly endless.

And now, the sky was dark, the air humid, and rain seemed imminent.

Long Ling remained silent, and so did the little phoenix. After a while, Long Ling spoke first, “Didn’t you say you wouldn’t be wrong?”

“I-I-I-I,” the spirit in the jade pendant stuttered, “I think I shouldn’t have been wrong, and the aura of Su Yuan is indeed very close to here… I’m sure, it should be around here!”

Long Ling raised an eyebrow, “But there’s nothing here.”

And he and his phoenix didn’t feel anything special either.

Spirit in the jade pendant: …

Suddenly, the spirit in the jade pendant whispered, “My energy seems to be running low again.”

Long Ling: …

“Sire Long Ling, rest assured! We’re really close!! Su Yuan is definitely nearby!!” The spirit in the jade pendant shook violently, “Tomorrow, by tomorrow, I will definitely lead you there!!”

After saying this, it exhausted its last strength and retreated back into the jade pendant with a swoosh.

Long Ling: …

The little phoenix jumped down from his head, transforming back into a human and stared at him.

Long Ling clicked his tongue, “Can I just throw away this jade pendant?”

Su Muluo sighed, “Forget it, didn’t it say we’re already very close? We should be almost there.”

Long Ling held the hand of his phoenix and asked, “What should we do now?”

“Let’s see if we can find a place to rest for a while,” Su Muluo suggested, “It looks like it’s going to rain soon.”

He wasn’t wrong. Moments later, a downpour began, and the sky darkened completely.

But just before that, Su Muluo and Long Ling had found a cave to take shelter in. Long Ling lit a fire and used the large branches he had collected earlier to block the cave entrance, forming a makeshift door.

Inside the cave was damp and chilly, with only the fire driving away some of the cold. Su Muluo looked around and thought miserably that it was quite memorable, so he took out his phone and snapped a few pictures.

Long Ling sat down next to his phoenix and said gently, “The phoenix can transform back and sleep in my clothes.”

Su Muluo shook his head, indicating no, and said, “It’s warmer if we lean against each other.”

A smile flickered in Long Ling’s eyes as he hugged his phoenix and affectionately rubbed against him.

As the rain intensified, it gradually subsided. Su Muluo watched the fire and gradually felt sleepy.

He leaned against Long Ling’s shoulder and drifted off to sleep. He didn’t know how long he had slept when he suddenly woke up.

—He sensed something was wrong.

“Phoenix?” Long Ling hadn’t slept, he had been watching over his phoenix. Seeing the phoenix awake, he gently touched its hair and asked, “What’s wrong? It’s not yet dawn.”

Su Muluo didn’t speak. He grabbed Long Ling’s sleeve and stared straight at the entrance of the cave.

It was still dark outside, pitch black. Despite the branches blocking it, there was still a gap.

And standing at that gap was a figure whose face couldn’t be seen.

“…”

Perhaps Su Muluo had been staring at the person for too long, because Long Ling asked in confusion, “Is there something outside?”

Su Muluo blinked slightly, then turned to Long Ling and asked, “You can’t see it?”

Long Ling: ?

He looked at the phoenix, then at the cave entrance, saying, “Can’t see.”

Su Muluo was even more surprised, saying, “There’s a person with an indistinct face at the cave entrance.”

Long Ling: “…”

He stared motionlessly at Su Muluo. After a few seconds of eye contact, Su Muluo stood up, took Long Ling’s hand, and walked towards the person at the cave entrance.

However, as soon as they approached, the person immediately turned around and left their original position.

Su Muluo didn’t hesitate, saying, “He’s gone, let’s follow him.”

Although unable to see the person’s face clearly, and unsure if they were even human, he had a strong intuition that this person was here to guide him.

Long Ling followed his phoenix without objection. By now, the rain had stopped, and outside the cave in the deep night, the person walked between muddy mountain paths without touching the ground, seeming to float all the way.

The two followed this person through the deep mountains like this. After an unknown time, the person stopped.

Guided by him, Su Muluo and Long Ling arrived at the edge of a cliff. Above the cliff, a cold moon hung in the sky, and below it, a bottomless abyss.

Seeing Su Muluo stop in his tracks, Long Ling asked, “Have we arrived?”

“Should be?” Su Muluo looked somewhat uncertainly at the person standing at the edge of the cliff, saying, “He’s not moving.”

At the same time, a doubt arose in his mind.

Su Yuan… Could he be right under this cliff?

But who exactly is this person?

——As if hearing his doubt, the person slowly turned his head at this moment.

Under the moonlight, his body appeared semi-transparent and gradually dissipated. Before dissolving completely, his features emerged, allowing Su Muluo to see his face clearly.

In an instant, Su Muluo’s mind went blank. A name that was clearly unfamiliar yet felt like it had been known for years suddenly surfaced.

Shuangli.

It was precisely when this name came to mind that the scene before him abruptly changed. He felt as if he was rapidly plummeting into a deep pool, engulfed by watery memories.

Those long-sealed memories quickly turned into shattered bubbles, enveloping him and swallowing all his consciousness… causing him to faint.

“Chief, Chief!”

Where the Phoenix Clan lived, flowers bloomed abundantly. It was still early morning when a young man in blue stopped the Phoenix Clan chief who was admiring the flowers and proudly opened his hands to him, “Look what I found!”

The Phoenix Clan chief, dr4p3d in a robe adorned with white feathers, his black hair loose and hanging loosely behind him, heard the youth’s words and slightly turned his head. A strand of black hair slid from his shoulder, brushing past his gentle and beautiful eyebrows.

After seeing what the youth held in his hands, his expression showed slight surprise as he said, “Is this… a newly hatched clan member?”

——In the youth’s hands was an egg, a small, white egg.

“Come on, our little ones in the clan aren’t that ugly.” The youth poked at the egg and said, “It’s almost like the eggs of the neighboring Dragon Clan… Although the Dragon Clan’s eggs don’t seem to be that small.”

Thinking about it, the Phoenix Clan chief said, “Where did you pick it up?”

“Just over there on the back hill, floating down with the water all the way.” The youth said, “I saw it floating on the water, neither sinking nor breaking. It definitely doesn’t seem like an ordinary egg, so I scooped it up.”

The Phoenix Clan chief smiled slightly and said, “It seems to have a connection with you. Why don’t you keep it?”

The youth immediately waved his hand when he heard this, saying, “I don’t want it. I came to find the chief just for this!”

“I don’t have the patience to keep it. If I accidentally break it while raising it, or if some strange and ugly thing crawls out of it one day, how can I manage—so I think I’ll just give this egg to the chief.”

The Phoenix Clan chief fell silent for a few seconds upon hearing this, then said, “You’ve said that something strange might crawl out of it, and you want to give it to me.”

The youth grinned and said, “Just in case, and even if some strange monster crawls out, the chief can definitely suppress it.”

“Besides, if nothing hatches from it, the chief can just stew it and it’ll nourish your body!”

The Phoenix Clan chief was probably touched by his concern and remained silent for a while.

Seizing the moment of his silence, the youth stuffed the egg into his hand and quickly ran off.

“Phoenix… Phoenix?”

A deep voice echoed in his ears, and Su Muluo woke up from his dream, slowly opening his eyes.

He found himself in an unfamiliar place, and suddenly, it all started to make sense.

The youth from his dream was already gone, but he still remembered his name.

Shuangli.

“Phoenix, you awake?”

Long Ling was right beside Su Muluo, holding him close, letting him lean against his chest.

“Why did you suddenly fall asleep? Are you feeling unwell anywhere?”

“…No.”

Su Muluo sensed Long Ling’s concern, turned his face to nuzzle him, and said, “Just remembered some things.”

Seeing his expression, Long Ling guessed something, “Is it about that person just now?”

Su Muluo nodded, recalling the dream scene, and slowly said, “He’s from my clan, Shuangli. We should have been close… A thousand years ago, he even gave me an egg to raise.”

“Wait a minute,” Long Ling’s attention shifted suddenly, “Phoenix, you’ve raised other eggs before??”

He immediately grabbed Su Muluo’s clothes, looking like he was ready to demand answers.

Looking at him, Su Muluo was silent for a few seconds before saying, “That egg wasn’t very good-looking. It was small and rough, like a chicken egg.”

“And then?” Long Ling asked eagerly, “Did the Phoenix still raise it? It’s outrageous to raise such an ugly egg! I won’t—”

Before he could finish, Su Muluo calmly interrupted him and continued, “No, what I meant is, precisely because that egg was ugly, and bare, like a not very appetizing chicken egg, so it…”

“It was very likely ]you.”

Long Ling: “……”

Long Ling: “???”

Chapter 84 – Master, I'm back

Chapter 84 (Extra 7)

The rain started falling in the mountains.

The fine drizzle wove a curtain, linking the quiet valley, undulating hills, and verdant trees into a picturesque scene.

Birds took flight, and beasts ran swiftly.

A yellow tiger with dark stripes suddenly leapt from the withered leaves, its body drawing powerful, agile, and sharp lines in mid-air.

It caught two stray mountain birds, and with the hunt complete, it carried the birds in its mouth, moving like the wind through the rain curtain, disappearing into a cave obscured by wild grass.

The cave must have been filled with the tiger’s scent, as no other birds or beasts dared to seek shelter there, even in the rain.

The tiger skillfully killed the birds and ate their meat.

Then it sat on the ground, licking its fur dry from the rain, meticulously grooming itself before falling asleep to the sound of the gentle rain.

On a stone platform in the cave lay a grayish-brown relic. As night fell, the relic emitted a faint silver glow, as if absorbing the essence of the sun and moon to cultivate.

At midnight, the tiger was startled awake by a thunderclap. It instinctively turned to look at the relic.

Seeing that the relic was unharmed, the tiger lay down again, its eyelids drooping, half asleep and half awake.

If the relic wished to transform into human form, it would need at least ten years.

Now, it has only been three years.

The tiger dreamed of its days in the thirty-three heavens.

Back then, it wasn’t a tiger; it was an Immortal revered by all.

That night, in the spacious Immortal hall, a cold wind blew through the corridors as the Immortal sat cross-legged on a grass mat, eyes closed, chanting sutras.

A black panther stealthily entered the hall, extending its warm, wet tongue to lick the Immortal’s cheek.

The fine barbs on the tongue pricked the skin, sending shivers and tingles through it, like countless tiny ants crawling into his bones.

The panther thought it had hidden well, but its aura had long betrayed its identity. Its tongue brushed over the Immortal’s robe, parting the collar. The cold night wind carried a chill, grazing the fragile body, but the skin touched by the panther’s tongue burned hot.

The fire-carrying ants inside devoured and gnawed at him inch by inch. For a moment, the Immortal statue closed its eyes. The Immortal sitting cross-legged on the mat wavered in his concentration.

In that instant, his practice was broken, never to recover.

But in this dream, the Immortal broke through the panther’s enchantment. Upon opening his eyes, instead of shattering the panther’s illusion with a palm strike, he looked calmly at it.

It was as if he was facing his own desires.

A red thread tied to the Immortal’s wrist connected to the panther’s paw.

From the moment they met in the forest tens of thousands of years ago, the dying tiger and the dying Immortal’s fate had been intertwined.

Love or hate, resentment or infatuation.

The Immortal slowly reached out, touching the panther’s illusion.

The illusion gradually dissolved before his eyes, turning into a brilliant light, blossoming in his vision.

The tiger woke up with a start, lifting its head. Its sharp gaze swept through the dim morning light, seeing the scene outside the cave through the branches.

The rain had stopped.

The tiger sat up and then noticed the relic that had been on the stone platform was now in its lap. It held the relic, silently examining it.

After being reborn, the tiger had nearly lost all its cultivation and couldn’t sense the relic’s condition. It didn’t know how far along the relic’s cultivation was, but it had felt recently that the relic was progressing rapidly, even coming to its lap.

It placed the relic back on the stone platform, stood up, shook its fur, and walked out of the cave. The forest, washed clean by the rain, was vibrant and colorful.

The faint sounds of birds chirping could be heard.

The tiger looked up and roared, startling a flock of birds in the valley. It leapt through the valley, its powerful claws quickly catching stray birds and rabbits, snapping their necks with its jaws.

In this life, it no longer pursued compassion, abandoning its roots of wisdom to live as an ordinary tiger.

However, it did not regret being an Immortal.

Yet, after its heart wavered, it was no longer worthy of receiving the worship of countless disciples in the thirty-three heavens.

One thought creates a world, and one thought creates hell.

After eating its fill, the tiger went to a stream in the valley to drink. It sensed something amiss, as the mountain wind carried a strange beast’s scent. Turning, it saw a large male tiger.

Behind the male tiger stood a female tiger, clearly in heat, staring intently at the drinking tiger.

The male tiger, seeing this, became jealous and approached for a fight.

The male tiger advanced step by step, growling menacingly.

The tiger did not want to fight and had no interest in the female. As it turned to leave, the male tiger, thinking it was being looked down upon, suddenly lunged at it.

The tiger was pinned down, and the male tiger’s sharp teeth aimed for its neck to deliver a fatal bite. It quickly extended its paw to block, its right forepaw getting bitten by the male tiger’s sharp teeth.

It couldn’t help but let out a low growl, its black eyes gradually turning blood-red. Suddenly, it flipped over, pinning the male tiger to the ground with overwhelming strength, biting its cheek and clawing its chest.

The male tiger let out a pained hiss as it was struck hard twice by Jiaheng. The blows left the male tiger dazed.

However, after exacting his revenge, Jiaheng didn’t deliver a fatal blow but leapt away from the scene.

Behind him, the female tiger made a strange noise, wanting to follow him, but was stopped by the defeated male tiger.

Jiaheng ignored the two tigers, enduring the pain in his right foreleg as he returned to the cave.

Now in his tiger form, it was inconvenient to treat the wound, so he simply cleaned it and fell asleep on a straw pile.

In a half-asleep state, the tiger sensed a white light flashing before his eyes, but he was so exhausted that he couldn’t lift his heavy eyelids.

His injured paw was held by someone. Though no words were spoken, the gentle and slow actions conveyed a sense of concern and tenderness.

The person touched the wound lightly, doing something that quickly relieved the pain.

Warmth spread over the wound, surprising the tiger, who wanted to wake up but was too tired. His furry head was gently cradled in the person’s arms.

Feeling comfortable, the tiger didn’t struggle, his breathing soon becoming steady.

The next morning, upon waking, the tiger recalled the dreamlike scene from the previous night. He looked around cautiously but saw nothing unusual.

Was it just his imagination?

Lowering his head, he saw that the previously torn wound on his right forepaw was now neatly stitched together, leaving only a faint scar.

The wound had healed too quickly.

Swallowing his surprise, the tiger stood up, his gaze falling on the relic on the stone platform.

The relic lay there as usual, emitting a faint silver glow.

The tiger walked over to the relic, his black and yellow eyes staring at it without any discernible emotion. After a while, he walked out of the cave.

Unexpectedly, as soon as he stepped out, he saw the female tiger from yesterday in heat.

The female tiger wagged her tail, the black stripes on her yellow and white fur, her eyes carrying a unique tiger’s haughty expression.

Half fawning, half testing, she approached Jiaheng.

The scent of a female in heat naturally enticed the newly awakened male tiger.

Jiaheng stood still, his gaze unchanged, allowing the female tiger to approach him.

She first sniffed Jiaheng’s scent, detecting a faint smell of blood. Despite his injury, Jiaheng stood tall and strong, like a king overlooking the valley.

At first sight, the female tiger had fallen in love with Jiaheng.

Unfortunately, the male tiger had been a constant nuisance, unwilling to leave her side despite her pleas. After Jiaheng’s beating yesterday, the male tiger had sulked in his nest, allowing the female tiger to follow Jiaheng’s scent and find him.

The female tiger nudged her head close to Jiaheng’s cheek, rubbing against him. Seeing no rejection from Jiaheng, she assumed he accepted her advances.

Happily, she wagged her tail, gently nibbling at the soft fur on Jiaheng’s face, flirting, when suddenly she stopped, sensing something amiss. Her eyes filled with caution, alertness, and even fear as she looked behind Jiaheng.

Behind Jiaheng was the pitch-dark cave.

From the cave emerged a shadowy figure, standing tall and slim, with an eerie ghostly presence.

Stepping out of the shadows, the figure’s appearance became clear.

His face was unnaturally pale, except for his eyes and brows. His black, sinister eyes were like those of a demon from hell, glaring at the female tiger with a murderous intent.

The female tiger, inexplicably frightened, let out an uncontrollable roar.

Finally finding a suitable mate, only to be interrupted by this unwelcome guest, the female tiger didn’t want to flee but felt an overwhelming fear upon meeting his gaze.

Sometimes, a mere look can determine the outcome.

Seeing the female tiger frozen in place, the man grinned, revealing a horrifying smile.

Terrified, the female tiger let out a scream and fled as if she had seen a ghost.

“…” Jiaheng.

Jiaheng didn’t turn around, but the moment the figure transformed, he sensed his presence. His furry face showed no expression as he stared straight ahead.

Behind him, the man finally spoke first.

“Master, I’m back.”

Chapter 83 – The majesty of the dragons

Chapter 83 (Extra 6)

Things turned out better than Si Lan imagined. Instead of taking seven days to leave the palace, it only took six and a half.

On the evening of the sixth day, Haowei received an urgent report from Yu Wudao, stating that both the Jing River and the East Sea had been disturbed by the demon clans.

The Qing Xiaoyao clan of the Jing River, forced to live in the marshlands by the demons, had their clan leader directly flayed and hung on the shore to dry like shrimp. The Dragon King of the East Sea had his tail severed, and several generals from the East Sea were beaten within an inch of their lives.

Haowei hadn’t expected Quze to act so swiftly.

The Dragon King of the East Sea was one of the Four Sea Dragon Kings and a prominent figure among the aquatic beings, holding a high position in the Heavenly Realm.

Now, with the Dragon King of the East Sea humiliated in this manner, if he didn’t step forward to seek justice, it might lead to dissatisfaction among the officials of the Heavenly Realm.

But Haowei had previously promised Si Lan not to intervene in the East Sea…

His silence made Si Lan mistakenly think he was considering it. Si Lan feared he would go after Quze, so he pondered briefly and decided to employ the “handsome man strategy.”

He stretched out his foot—his toes were as tender and white as spring onions—and slid it along Haowei’s spine. Haowei withdrew his gaze and turned to look at Si Lan on the bed.

In the twilight of the Ninth Heaven, as the light dimmed, shadows obscured Haowei’s eyes, concealing his emotions. His breath visibly hitched.

With one hand supporting his head and the other poking Haowei’s arm, half taunting and half teasing, Si Lan said, “Already giving up so soon?”

Haowei’s lips twitched slightly, emitting a muffled chuckle. Leaning forward, he seemed to descend like layers of cumulus clouds pressing down, squeezing the air thin.

Haowei grabbed Si Lan’s ankle; the warmth of his palm was scorching. His fingers slowly moved up from Si Lan’s ankle.

“Who said we should stop just now? Why are you lying on me?”

Though Si Lan had cried several times before, ending up as a “wild chicken” in the end, which made him uncomfortable, he reluctantly let Si Lan go for the time being.

Just as he was catching his breath, Si Lan came challenging him again.

Si Lan grasped his rebellious hand, placing it on Haowei’s chest. With both hands hooking around Haowei’s nape, he lightly kissed the corner of Haowei’s lips, his voice tinged with a hint of coquettishness. “Now I’ve rested.”

“Sure about that?” Haowei’s voice softened a few degrees, his trailing question inexplicably making Si Lan’s heart race.

Si Lan felt intimidated but pretended to be relaxed as he deflected, “Hmm… I…”

Before he could finish his sentence, Haowei silenced him with a kiss.

For the sake of his armless disciple, he didn’t mind sacrificing his dignity.

Tsk tsk.

Haowei found it rather amusing. Therefore, he deliberately increased the strength in his hand, causing Si Lan to lie on the mandarin duck pillow, his face and expression covered, vaguely discernible from the protruding veins on his side face and the degree of fluctuation in his Adam’s apple, indicating that he endured until his expression became ferocious and his spirit was on the verge of collapse.

Help!

Why does this world have creatures like dragons?

One is tired, and there’s another.

They say there’s no land that can’t be cultivated, only oxen who die from overwork.

But if this ox is two-headed, the land has already been overworked.

Si Lan felt like he was the overworked land, unable to bear it anymore.

In the end, he played dead, withdrew his consciousness, and avoided the torment. During the period of withdrawing his consciousness, he incidentally returned to the demon realm to check on Quze’s situation.

But soon Haowei noticed his consciousness had left his body.

He whispered threateningly in Si Lan’s ear, “Recently, the Nine Heavens’ Biwu Branch has grown new branches. Your tender white body would fit perfectly hanging there.”

Still unmoved, Si Lan pretended not to hear him.

Haowei continued, “What would we do hanging there? Why not swing on a swing and intertwine our necks? I heard the Phoenix clan likes to nest in Biwu while intertwining.”

Si Lan’s consciousness instantly returned to his body, angrily retorting, “Shameless.”

Haowei stifled a laugh, “How am I shameless? Wasn’t it you who provoked me first?”

Unable to argue with him, feeling guilty, Si Lan changed the subject, “I miss the children. Shall we go get them?”

“The Goddess Mother said they should stay for another half month, so the time isn’t up yet.”

“…”

Seeing there was no way out, Si Lan couldn’t help but sigh.

Why, these past few days, did Haowei show no signs of boredom or fatigue and still seemed so enthusiastic? Could it be because of the position, causing their sensory experiences to differ?

After hesitating for a while, Si Lan leaned close to Haowei’s ear, revealing his thoughts.

Haowei’s face stiffened, his eyes tensing at the corners, and he asserted without question, “Don’t even think about it.”

He patted Si Lan’s head heavily, as if questioning what Si Lan’s little brain was thinking about every day. The reason for the extended time was related to their races.

Once dragons enter mating season, it can last from three days to a month, so he was already considered a restrained male dragon.

As they were conversing, outside the palace, the voice of the celestial servant was heard.

In recent days, celestial servants did not dare to approach the palace, and now that there was an emergency, they had found their way inside.

“Your Majesty, the disciple of the Goddess Empress, Quze, is seeking forgiveness outside the Palace of Jade Clear.”

“Oh?” Haowei glanced at Si Lan, suspecting that Quze’s act of forgiveness was a directive from Si Lan.

After all, it’s better to come and ask for forgiveness than to wait to be questioned and accused.

It seems Si Lan, while pretending to deal with the corpse, also withdrew his consciousness to find Quze. Tsk tsk, such indecisiveness deserves punishment.

Haowei took out the gift the celestial lords sent when he and Si Lan formed their bond, finding a thick, long black jade ruyi scepter.

Si Lan widened his eyes, wanting to stop Haowei, but the ruyi scepter seemed alive and couldn’t be pulled out at all.

Si Lan blushed in embarrassment; this was their first time playing like this as an old married couple.

Haowei adjusted his clothes, looking at him calmly, pretending to be angry: “Tidy yourself up and come with me to see Quze.”

  ”…” Si Lan.

He understood. This troublemaker was deliberately getting back at him.

He endured the discomfort and accompanied Haowei to see Quze.

Quze had stripped his upper clothes, a bundle of thorns on his back, kneeling straight on the ground. His black iron arm protruded abruptly, starkly contrasting against his fair and muscular body.

Seeing him like this, Haowei knew his act of penitence was false, merely showing off his severed arm to gain sympathy.

This scheme was probably Si Lan’s idea.

Haowei sat coldly on the high seat. Si Lan originally intended to stand aside but was pulled by Haowei to sit beside him.

Haowei said, “Quze, you thought coming to the Heavenly Realm to make amends after the incident with Jinghe and East Sea would suffice?”

”I accept any punishment,” Quze said slowly.

On the high seat, Si Lan’s expression faltered. He had not instructed Quze to respond this way; he wanted Quze to explain everything and perhaps shed a few tears.

Haowei was not swayed by tough talk; maybe he wouldn’t say anything.

As a result, Quze now just stood there foolishly without explanation.

  This blockheaded disciple!

Haowei glanced at Si Lan and continued, “Considering you did not commit murder but sought vengeance for your clan, I see your intentions. Therefore, you will be confined to Zhuyun Peak for ten years as punishment.”

This penalty was tantamount to no punishment at all.

Quze looked up at Haowei, surprise fleeting in his eyes. Clearly, he hadn’t expected Haowei not to punish him despite his lack of plea. His gaze shifted to Si Lan, understanding that Si Lan might have advocated for him in secret.

He nodded in acknowledgment and left Yuqing Palace.

As he left, he turned back, wanting to speak to Si Lan, only to see Haowei embracing Si Lan tightly on the high seat. Haowei’s hand slipped under Si Lan’s robe.

Quze froze for a moment. In the next instant, the doors slammed shut, blocking his view.

Standing outside, his ears slowly reddened. No wonder Si Lan looked so worn out and fragile when communicating with him through spiritual senses.

”You promised me that you wouldn’t meddle in the East Sea affair, yet you punished my disciple.” Si Lan took advantage of the situation.

Haowei adopted Si Lan’s knack for being difficult: “I promised not to meddle in the East Sea affair. I’m currently dealing with your disciple. If he hadn’t come to make amends, it wouldn’t concern me.”

  ”…” Si Lan.

So by letting Quze make amends, he inadvertently harmed Quze?

Si Lan couldn’t help but grind his teeth, standing up to leave, only to be grabbed by Haowei’s elbow.

Haowei looked at the water stains left on his leg, his voice slightly hoarse: “You leaked.”

  ”…” Si Lan.

After another intimate moment on the high seat, Haowei finally let him go.

Finally, biting his neck, Haowei’s voice carried a hint of anger: “I already promised not to intervene in this matter. Yet you had Quze come to the Heavenly Realm to make amends because you don’t trust me.”

He felt he would hold Quze accountable in the future, so he decided to preemptively have Quze apologize by coming here.

Haowei was genuinely a bit upset, otherwise he wouldn’t have taken out the ruyi scepter just now.

Si Lan pursed his lips, his voice breaking: “Uh, it’s not that I don’t trust you, I just don’t want you to bear too much pressure.” If he didn’t deal with Quze and didn’t seek “justice” for the East Sea, the Heavenly Realm would pressure him.

Now that Quze has come to the Heavenly Realm so publicly to make amends, punishing Quze was also a way to protect his reputation.

He neither wanted Quze to be severely punished nor did he want him to bear the title of “incompetent ruler”.

Haowei thought he was calculating everything for Quze’s sake, realizing Si Lan also cared about him. His lips curved slightly upwards, but he tried to maintain his composure: “You speak so persuasively, I can’t always tell what’s true.”

Si Lan hugged his waist, burying his head in his chest, full of drowsiness: “Nonsense, I’ve always been straightforward. It’s actually you who used two pseudonyms when we first met.” This made Si Lan think carefully each time he spoke to Haowei, fearful of calling him by the wrong name.

Haowei pursed his lips and explained, “At that time, my body fluctuated due to divine injuries, sometimes growing larger, sometimes smaller, so I had to use a pseudonym to deceive you.”

Si Lan snorted but didn’t say anything more, his breathing gradually calming down.

Haowei turned his head and saw Si Lan struggling to keep his eyelids from closing. He stopped talking and gently stroked Si Lan’s back.

Suddenly remembering something, Haowei leaned close to Si Lan’s ear and softly called out, “Sigan.”

Si Lan, who was almost asleep, suddenly heard this and widened his eyes, looking at Haowei strangely.

Haowei explained, “I heard it’s your childhood nickname, Sigan.”

He repeated “Sigan” again, causing Si Lan’s scalp to tingle. “Who told you my nickname? No, who told you this was my nickname?”

These three words were a sore spot for him.

“It was Xie Li.” When Haowei last visited the Demon Realm and didn’t bring candy for Xie Li, he wasn’t pleased. Then Xie Li told Haowei that Si Lan’s childhood nickname was Sigan.

Si Lan loves it when others call him by his nickname.

Thus, it was during tender moments that Haowei would utter Si Guoyi’s name.

 ”…” Si Lan.

Si Lan’s lips twitched slightly. He hadn’t expected Xiao Xie to start teasing people now.

Truly, good habits don’t learn, but bad ones do.

At this moment, far away on the Yun Peak, Xiao Xie, who was keeping Quze company while he was under house arrest, inexplicably sneezed.

”I heard from Xiao Xie that you only allow close people to call you by this name. You never told me before. Did you think I didn’t deserve to call you that?” Haowei’s voice softened, his face showing a hint of grievance, though his large hands weren’t honest as they rested on Si Lan’s waist.

He suddenly understood whose tea-scented air he had inherited.

”No, I…” He looked into Haowei’s eyes and felt that if he said anything harsh, the other might tear up. So, he compromised, “You can only call me that when we’re alone.”

A hint of cunning flashed through Haowei’s eyes. “Alright, Si Guoyi.”

”…” Si Lan couldn’t help but clench his fists.

For the first time, a desire arose in his heart to clean up his act!

He had slept in the palace for several days before recovering. During these days, he had been surrounded by “Si Guoyi,” from initial embarrassment to now accepting it calmly.

Si Guoyi was just Si Guoyi.

In this world, besides him, no one else knew what Si Guoyi meant.

A few days later, he and Haowei rode in a carriage to Lingxiao Palace to pick up the child.

Halfway there, passing by somewhere, they faintly heard a familiar voice.

Si Lan lifted the curtain and saw in the undulating lines of the mountains and fields, a black figure swiftly moving like a bean, with a tiger running swiftly ahead of it.

Si Lan instructed the carriage to stop, and he heard the complaining voice of the black figure pierce through the sky like wind and thunder into his ears.

“I said you ignored me, then I said that I would kiss you until you spoke to me.” The black figure chased the tiger, threatening as he ran.

Upon hearing this, the tiger paused momentarily and then ran even faster.

In the fields full of blooming wildflowers, one person and one tiger, and one world.

Si Lan counted on his fingers, only three years.

Yuwuxia actually achieved human form again in three years.

Truly the other side of the Heavenly Way.

Of course, it might also be impatient to achieve human form, and wanted to achieve the true fruit with the Immortal Jiaheng.

 Tsk tsk.

Haowei also followed Si Lan’s gaze and saw the man and the tiger. He closed the curtain, blocking Si Lan’s view.

 “It’s all over now.”

 “Yeah.”

 Everything is over.

Whether it’s the tiger becoming an Immortal, the Immortal becoming a demon, or all living beings, we must look forward and embrace a new life.
