Chapter 15

The woman next to Pei Qing looked to be in her twenties, wearing a blouse and a skirt, with long curly hair. She was very beautiful.

Zhan Weiyang kept staring at the woman, wondering who she was.

Pei Qing noticed Zhan Weiyang’s gaze and said to him, “This is the sister of the company where I am interning. Her name is Qin Yishan. You can call her Shan jie.”

Qin Yishan smiled and said, “He can call me jiejie, but you don’t have to.”

Pei Qing smiled and said nothing.

Zhan Weiyang was still staring at Qin Yishan in a daze.

At this time, the traffic light at the intersection had turned green, and Pei Qing said, “Let’s cross the street first.” When he was about to walk forward, he saw that Zhan Weiyang was not moving, so he reached out, grabbed his wrist, and led him across the street before letting go.

They walked across the street and stopped again.

Pei Qing asked Zhan Weiyang, “Why are you here?”

Zhan Weiyang was stunned for a moment, then came to his senses and said, “I’m here to find my classmates.”

Pei Qing asked him again, “Did you find them?”

Zhan Weiyang thought that he had already met Xie Ling, so he said, “Yes.”

Pei Qing said, “Have you eaten?”

       Zhan Weiyang shook his head.

Pei Qing said, “We are getting ready to have dinner. Let’s go together.”

Qin Yishan stood by the side with her arms crossed in front of her chest. Her gaze shifted between Pei Qing’s face and Zhan Weiyang’s face. A faint smile lingered on her own face throughout.

Zhan Weiyang didn’t think much, nodded, and said, “Okay.”

Pei Qing then turned to Qin Yishan, “Where is the restaurant you mentioned?”

Qin Yishan looked forward and said, “We’re almost there.”

The three of them walked forward side by side. Zhan Weiyang felt a little awkward walking beside Pei Qing.

Qin Yishan asked Pei Qing as she walked, “You said your family isn’t from here, right? Then how come you have a younger brother here?”

Pei Qing said, “This is my younger cousin, Zhan Weiyang.”

Qin Yishan glanced at Zhan Weiyang, who was walking on the other side of Pei Qing, and said, “Younger cousin, no wonder you don’t look alike.” She looked at Zhan Weiyang’s school uniform and asked, “High school student?”

Pei Qing responded, “Second year in high school.”

Qin Yishan smiled at Zhan Weiyang.

Zhan Weiyang wasn’t actually very happy, but he still smiled back at Qin Yishan out of politeness.

Qin Yishan took them to a restaurant specialising in beef. When they entered, there was an empty booth by the window. Pei Qing asked Zhan Weiyang to sit inside, and he sat beside him. Qin Yishan sat opposite them and waved for the waiter to come and take their order.

When the menu was brought, Qin Yishan took it and handed it to Zhan Weiyang, saying, “Younger cousin, you can order whatever you want. Jiejie will treat you to dinner today.”

Zhan Weiyang looked at the menu in front of him and felt momentarily at a loss.

Pei Qing lowered his head, approached Zhan Weiyang and said softly, “Just order it, I’ll treat you.”

When Qin Yishan heard this, she immediately said, “That won’t do, we agreed that it’s jiejie’s treat.”

Pei Qing said, “Didn’t you say that I don’t have to call you jiejie?”

Zhan Weiyang couldn’t help but look up at Qin Yishan and saw her looking directly at Pei Qing with a completely different smile on her face, which Zhan Weiyang couldn’t describe. He reached out and pushed the menu in front of Pei Qing and said, “I don’t know what to order.”

Pei Qing took it and handed it back to Qin Yishan, saying, “It’s better if you do it.”

Qin Yishan no longer refused this time and familiarly ordered three dishes and a soup, handed the menu back to the waiter, and then said, “This restaurant really tastes good.”

Pei Qing nodded, “What you recommended must be good.”

Tonight, Pei Qing was working overtime for a while at the company where he was interning. When it was about to end, Qin Yishan, who worked in the company, took the initiative to invite him to have dinner. The two of them had some contact at work, but not much. Pei Qing was a little surprised but didn’t refuse.

This restaurant was also Qin Yishan’s suggestion. It was not far from their company. It took the two of them less than twenty minutes to walk from the company. If they hadn’t met Zhan Weiyang on the way, it would have been faster.

The restaurant’s business was so good, but the food service seemed a bit slow.

While waiting for the food to be served, Pei Qing had been chatting with Qin Yishan, and the two of them were talking about things related to their work. Because Pei Qing was only a senior in college, Qin Yishan also gave him a lot of career advice about his future.

“Are you planning to go to graduate school?” Qin Yishan asked Pei Qing.

Pei Qing replied, “I’m considering it.”

Zhan Weiyang could understand at most a third of what the two of them were talking about. He had been sitting quietly. At first, he was listening to their conversation and watching them, but later, he was shaking his legs restlessly.

Pei Qing stretched out a hand under the dining table to hold down Zhan Weiyang’s shaking legs, looked at him, and asked, “Are you hungry?”

Zhan Weiyang was actually hungry, but he shook his head and said, “Not hungry.”

Pei Qing’s hand did not move away from his leg. Through the thin layer of school uniform pants, Zhan Weiyang felt the warmth and pressure of his palm. When Zhan Weiyang couldn’t help but fidget again, Pei Qing’s fingers even tightened inward, giving him a little pinch.

Zhan Weiyang felt itchy from being pinched by him and did not dare to move.

Pei Qing called the waiter and asked her how long the food would have to wait. When the answer was a little perfunctory, she asked the waiter if there were any snacks that could be served immediately.

The waiter said there was Ice Jelly1Bingfen, also called ice jelly, is a Chinese dessert native to Southwest China in provinces such as Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan. It is served as a bowl of iced transparent jelly, made from the seeds of the Nicandra physalodes plant, along with toppings like haw flakes and wolfberries.

Pei Qing looked at Qin Yishan, “Yishan jie, do you want it?”

Qin Yishan said, “I don’t eat cold food.”

Pei Qing said to the waiter, “I want a bowl.”

The waiter turned and left and quickly brought them a bowl of brown sugar Ice Jelly and placed it on the table. Pei Qing released the hand holding Zhan Weiyang’s thigh and lifted it up to hold the small spoon in the bowl, stirred the brown sugar liquid that was covered on top of the Ice Jelly before pushing the whole bowl in front of Zhan Weiyang and said, “You eat first. “

Zhan Weiyang lowered his head, took a spoon and took a spoonful of Ice Jelly, and put it into his mouth. He felt that the Ice Jelly was sweet, and he felt less anxious instantly. He turned his head and looked up at Pei Qing.

Pei Qing was also looking at him, and after meeting his gaze, he smiled at him.

Zhan Weiyang then also smiled, lowered his eyes and continued to eat the Ice Jelly.

Qin Yishan supported her chin with one hand and looked at them for a long time before saying, “You take good care of your younger cousin.”

Pei Qing said, “I am now living in their home. My uncle and grandma take good care of me. It is my duty to take care of him.”

Strictly speaking, Zhan Weiyang’s grandmother was Pei Qing’s grandmother, but in the end, there was no blood relationship. After Pei Qing came here, he had been calling Zhan Weiyang’s grandmother, Grandma, and no one thought there was anything inappropriate.

Qin Yishan didn’t know about Pei Qing’s relationship with the Zhan family, so naturally she thought nothing was wrong. She just looked at Pei Qing with a smile and said, “Your character is much more mature than your actual age.”

Pei Qing smiled and said, “Maybe I just look older.”

“I’m talking about personality, not appearance,” Qin Yishan said, “When you first came to our company as an intern, I felt that you were calmer than other college students. Nowadays, many men are still like children after they graduate from college and work. You… On the contrary, are still a student but feel more stable and reliable than them.”

Pei Qing laughed, lowered his head, picked up the chopsticks on the table, and put them down gently without saying anything else.

At this time, the waiter finally brought the dishes.

Qin Yishan asked Pei Qing, “Want to drink some beer?”

Pei Qing said, “Do you want to drink? If you want to drink, I can accompany you.”

Qin Yishan shook her head, “I don’t drink.”

Pei Qing said, “Then I won’t drink either.”

Hearing this, Qin Yishan said, “Drink some. This kind of weather is suitable for a bottle of beer.”

Pei Qing seemed to hesitate for a moment, then raised his hand and asked the waiter to open a bottle of beer and bring it over.

The beer was frozen, and the glass bottle was covered with a layer of white mist.

Zhan Weiyang had just finished eating the Ice Jelly and saw the mist on the wine bottle. He couldn’t help but stretch out his finger to wipe it.

Pei Qing reached out to pick up the wine bottle and put it on Zhan Weiyang’s face.

Zhan Weiyang said, “Oh!” and hurriedly ducked to the side with his neck scrunched up. When he couldn’t hide away, he raised his hands to cover his face.

Pei Qing asked him, “Want to drink?”

Zhan Weiyang covered his face, which was red from the cold, and nodded.

Pei Qing stretched out the mouth of the beer bottle in front of him. He really thought that Pei Qing wanted him to drink, so he leaned over and as soon as his lips touched the mouth of the bottle, Pei Qing took the bottle away and said, “I just remembered. You are still a high school student, you can’t drink.”

Zhan Weiyang wanted to say that he had actually drunk with Chen Youyou, but he was afraid that Pei Qing would be angry if he found out, so he said, “I just remembered too.”

Pei Qing immediately looked at him and smiled.

Chapter 41 – Homeward Journey (2)

There has never been a day as lively as today on All Universe 818. The forum is dominated by a big red headline, ‘Live Broadcast! Imperial Wedding! Grand Celebration! Unparalleled! Invincible True Love!’.

There was a lot of excitement in the palace. Ba Jin directed more than a dozen butlers to prepare things for the wedding, including sceptres, swords, crowns, royal family cloaks… Fortunately, Duke Arthur sent his team of butlers, and Ke Qing was currently helping everyone lay out the carpets.

When Shen Zhuofan arrived, Qin Yun was struggling with the outfit in the master bedroom. He had put on his shirt and trousers and was busy tying his bow tie halfway through putting on his vest. His hair was too messy, and there was no time to style it. He only wore one sock, and he didn’t know where the other had gone… He was on the verge of tears when he saw Shen Zhuofan.

“Come and help me get it! Armbands! And tie clips…” Qin Yun started to look for socks, “Where are my shoes?!”

Shen Zhuofan was speechless, “…You don’t look like you are getting married…”

Qin Yun finally dug out his shoes from under the bed and complained, “I told Xi Zhao last night to ask him to wait a few more days, but he refused!” The Queen-to-be held the shoes and climbed out of bed, saying, “I didn’t sleep well all night! I’m so nervous that I feel like peeing every moment…”

“…” Shen Zhuofan rolled his eyes and said, “Sit down, and I’ll help you comb your hair first.”

       Qin Yun quickly agreed, “Okay!”

Moschery came in while he was halfway through combing his hair. He was dressed in the highest-grade commander uniform, a black high-collared military suit. He wore the Emperor’s Medal on his chest, and a heavy crimson royal cloak hung straight down to the ground from his back.

Shen Zhuofan looked at Qin Yun with an expression of ‘look how reliable your husband is’. He stood up and saluted the Emperor respectfully, “Your Majesty.”

Moschery nodded slightly and looked at his guide, “Can you wear it?”

Qin Yun awkwardly said, “Just so-so…?”

Shen Zhuofan couldn’t help but laugh. He neatly combed Qin Yun’s hair and said cheerfully, “I’m going to work in the front. Your Majesty will do the rest for you.”

“…” Qin Yun watched helplessly as he abandoned him. In desperation, he could only stare at Moschery innocently.

His Majesty the Emperor raised his eyebrows. He slowly took off his gloves and took a few steps forward to help Qin Yun stand up.

Vest, bow tie, bow tie pendant… Moschery’s fingers carefully pressed Qin Yun’s front. He lowered his head with a serious and meticulous expression.

Qin Yun watched the Emperor kneel down on one knee, put his cloak on the ground, lift up one foot and put on a sock, then the other, and finally put on military boots and tie the shoelaces.

“Come.” Moschery stood up, opened his white military jacket and motioned for Qin Yun to reach out.

“…” Qin Yun was too cautious to move and allowed the other party to adjust his belt, put on his sword and put on the medal. Moschery took the royal family’s cloak that was placed on the tray, shook it off and put it on the back of his guide.

“Don’t be nervous.” Moschery lowered his head and kissed Qin Yun’s lips. He gently pressed his forehead against his, “I’m by your side.”

Qin Yun opened his mouth, “I’m afraid of what will happen if I tremble when I put the ring on…how many people will see it?”

His Majesty the Emperor’s expression was a little subtle, “A live broadcast… can probably be seen by the whole universe.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

Ba Jin knocked on the door a few times to urge the two of them. Qin Yun was still struggling with the issue of ‘the whole universe could see it’. He checked his appearance one last time and muttered, “If so many people are watching, what if I get nervous and trip? Will the Cabinet cause trouble? Should I carry a high-energy cannon just in case…”

“…” Moschery stroked his forehead patiently. He felt that even without the guide, his mania would be cured a little bit every day, “I will support you and prevent you from falling. Skarter already has his eye on the Cabinet, so there won’t be any trouble. As for the issue of so many people watching…”

A gentle smile appeared on the Emperor’s face, “I don’t think that is a problem at all. At the very least, so many people have seen that you married me, and it won’t be easy to get a divorce even if you want to in the future.”

“…” Qin Yun curled his lips disdainfully, “That makes two of us…don’t even think about finding a mistress in the future.”

       Moschery: “…”

The doors from the bedroom to the main hall slowly opened one after another. Ba Jin bowed respectfully and saluted. The Emperor held Qin Yun’s lower back and stepped on the red carpet that was spread all the way to the door.

The morning light shines brightly into the terrace in mid-air, and Moschery’s rhinestone-covered aircraft leads the Royal Guards into the sky.

The salute was fired, and the sunlight fireworks bloomed brightly in the air.

Qin Yun turned to look at Moschery beside him. His Majesty the Emperor took the ring box from Ba Jin and spread his palm towards his guide.

The platinum ring was smoothly inserted into Qin Yun’s ring finger. Qin Yun took a deep breath and held Moschery’s hand…

“…” Qin Yun was about to cry without tears. He couldn’t stop shaking. He tried putting the ring on the Emperor several times but failed. The Emperor’s face darkened, and finally unable to bear it, he snatched the ring and put it on his own finger.

“Trash!” Moschery said bitterly. He couldn’t help but pinched Qin Yun’s neck, pressed the back of his head and blocked his mouth.

Tristana took the lead and whistled cheerfully under the balcony, “This is a global live broadcast, Your Majesty! Don’t let Her Royal Highness the Queen get off the stage!”

Qin Yun’s face turned red. Moschery took a while before letting him go, his thumb deliberately or unintentionally wiping the water stains at the corner of his lips, “Klaas’ Bonding Heat potion has been developed.” His Majesty the Emperor suddenly said. His gaze, staring at Qin Yun, was a little dark, and his voice was low. He said, “We can try it tonight.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

The evening banquet was attended only by close friends and family of Qin Yun and the Emperor. Moschery found them too noisy and wore a displeased expression all night. Arthur held a wine glass and teased him, “Don’t be too impatient. Starting tomorrow, you can take a long honeymoon. You have plenty of time to enjoy yourselves.”

The Emperor thought thoughtfully, “Do you still have the pheromone suppressant?”

“Yes.” Arthur said frivolously, “What’s wrong?”

Moschery, “I’ll trade you a Bonding Heat potion, and you give me all the pheromone suppressant potions you have.”

Arthur was silent, “How many times do you plan to do it tonight?”

Moschery did not answer directly. He said impatiently, “It’s always good to be more prepared. I can’t hurt him…” After a pause, the Emperor looked a little embarrassed, “And I’m also afraid that I can’t control myself.”

“…” Arthur understood very well. He patted Moschery’s shoulder sympathetically, “I understand. It’s been really hard on you after being a virgin for so many years.”

       Moschery: “…”

Qin Yun drank a little too much, and his hair, which had been combed during the day, was messed up. His bangs were stuck to his forehead. The smell of alcohol was a little on his face, and he looked at Moschery with bright eyes and smiled.

“What are you talking about to Duke Garcia?” Qin Yun untied his tie and opened his collar a little, “I just logged in to All Universe 818. The videos and photos were pretty good… It’s just that I looked a bit silly. I was so nervous that I forgot to smile. ”

Moschery narrowed his eyes and lingered near his exposed collarbone, “You don’t have to smile at others…” The Emperor couldn’t help but stretch out his hand to help him fasten the button again and said solemnly, “Take it off when you get back.”

Qin Yun craned his neck and muttered something that Moschery didn’t hear clearly.

Everyone at the dinner table had long lost their usual seriousness and restraint.

Shen Zhuofan was already sleepy, half-dozing in Arthur’s arms. Skarter, having taken off his military uniform, propped up his head and gazed affectionately at Lin Dongliang, who was peeling shrimp for him. Only Tristana remained energetic, challenging Chen Xiao to a drinking game with clenched fists…

“I never thought we were really married.” Qin Yun sighed. He stretched out his hand to shake the ring on his ring finger, but the Emperor held it in his palm mid-air.

Moschery clasped his fingers with him and said in a disdainful tone, “What else can we do if we don’t get married? I told you I would give you half of the sovereignty of this country.”

Qin Yun laughed and said half-jokingly, “What else can you give me besides this?”

“I can give you a lot more.” Moschery took his hand and placed it near his heart. He looked into Qin Yun’s eyes and said slowly, “All my love and all my life.”

Qin Yun was speechless for a long time. He only felt that his hand seemed to be able to touch Moschery’s fiery beating heart. The temperature was so hot that it seemed to burn the palm of his hand.

Chapter 39 – Chunjun

The inhumane abuse on the stage continued, and Song Jun was horrified. He stood up again and tried to stop them but was knocked to the ground again by Ling Xiao.

Ling Xiao stepped on Song Jun’s chest with the hard soles of his leather boots and asked the question again, “Are you really Chunjun?”

Song Jun said, “What Chunjun?! I don’t know what you are talking about!”

Ling Xiao stretched out a hand to raise Song Jun’s face, looked at it carefully for a moment, and said, “He is very similar to Chunjun.”

At this time, the tall man who brought Song Jun in came over and said, “Ling Xiao, you can see clearly. This man is really Chunjun, and I have seen him with Demon Zhen with my own eyes, and now Fengliu1Feng Junyuan and Longshao2Long Xing and Yueya[/mfn]Xi Anling[/mfn] have appeared, and the person next to that old demon can only be Chunjun.”

Ling Xiao’s expression was icy cold, and no one knew what he was thinking. After a while, he said, “Do you understand any of what I just said?”

The man was stunned when he heard this.

Ling Xiao said, “I have never seen Chunjun show such pure and kind eyes. How could the former best killing sword in the world become like this?”

Song Jun still didn’t understand what they were talking about. He turned his head with difficulty and looked at the stage. The young man had been whipped to the point of dying. Song Jun has heard of this kind of punishment in ancient times. People who have been flogged may or may not die, but he always believed that it was caused by wound infection due to a lack of medical conditions in ancient times. But today, he might have to see how a person was beaten to death with a whip.

The boy was lying on the stage at this time, and the clothes on his back had become tattered, and the flesh and blood oozing out of it could be seen. Although his mouth was blocked, Song Jun could still hear his ragged gasps. There was a wheezing sound, and the rhythm of the breathing began to become slower and slower.

The audience in the bar was very excited. At first, they were attracted by the commotion in Song Jun’s direction. Later, when they saw Ling Xiao catching the person, they all turned their attention back to the stage. At this time, some people were even whistling and cheering, and some shouted, “Kill him!”

Song Jun looked back at Ling Xiao and said, “He is really going to die.”

Ling Xiao said to him, “So what if he dies? You have been stained with the blood of so many people. Why are you so pretentious now? Is it possible that by ascending with Demon Zhen, you can really develop a bodhisattva heart?” Ling Xiao laughed out loud, “What a joke!”

Song Jun looked confused. He had no idea what Ling Xiao was talking about, but he vaguely felt that it had something to do with him.

At this time, the boy was grabbed by his legs and dragged towards the backstage.

The stage lights were turned off and replaced with soft music, restoring the original atmosphere.

Song Jun wondered if there was a way for him to escape after witnessing all this. Could he call the police? Would Xia Hongshen come to him if he found out that he was missing? Was there any way Long Xing could find out his whereabouts?

While he was thinking anxiously, Ling Xiao grabbed him and threw him on the sofa next to him.

Song Jun struggled to stand up when he suddenly saw the dying boy who had been whipped on the stage walking out from the backstage. He had changed into a set of clothes, and his whole body looked intact, without any trace of injury.

Seeing his appearance, Song Jun was stunned.

The young man also noticed Song Jun looking at him and walked towards this direction. Suddenly, he transformed into a golden fox and rushed towards Song Jun, wanting to bite him.

As a result, Ling Xiao grabbed the back of its neck, threw it aside, and hit the drum kit next to the stage hard.

The little fox turned over and stood up, baring his teeth.

Ling Xiao shouted, “If you make trouble again, get out.”

The little fox glanced at Ling Xiao, finally restrained his claws, and sat down to stare at Song Jun.

Song Jun’s face turned pale with fright because he had seen Xiang Wenshi before, but now he finally reacted quickly and said, “A demon?”

“Are you afraid of demons?” Ling Xiao sneered, “You have been with that old Demon Zhen for so long, and you are still afraid of demons?”

Song Jun still shook his head, “I don’t understand what you are talking about?”

Ling Xiao was about to speak when suddenly, the little fox sitting on the ground said, “He killed my brother!”

Song Jun looked at the little fox. Although he knew he was a demon, he couldn’t help but ask in surprise, “He was clearly beaten up just now…”

“It’s just an illusion,” Ling Xiao explained, “Xiang Wenxi doesn’t have any other abilities. He’s just good at illusion.”

Song Jun looked at the little fox named Xiang Wenxi and asked, “Are you Teacher Xiang’s younger brother?”

Ling Xiao snorted coldly, seeming to be very disdainful of Xiang Wenshi.

Song Jun thought of another thing, “So you stole my mobile phone? You wanted to steal pieces of Thousand Years Lamp?”

Before Ling Xiao could speak this time, he suddenly heard a fierce banging sound coming from the door of the bar.

The originally noisy environment in the bar immediately became quiet. The guests all stood up and looked towards the door of the bar. Then they heard another noise, and it turned out that someone was banging on the door outside.

       Ling Xiao said, “Demon Zhen.”

The whole bar suddenly became commotion because of these two words.

Ling Xiao grabbed Song Jun and threw him at the little fox, saying, “Take him first!”

The little fox grew taller and bigger than a person. It used its tail to wrap up Song Jun on its back like Xiang Wenshi had done before and ran towards the back of the stage.

Song Jun only felt that the scenery in front of him was changing rapidly. He couldn’t see anything clearly at all. He only felt that the fur under his body was soft. He was being carried by this golden fox, and he didn’t know where he was running.

After an unknown amount of time, the little fox stopped, slowly walked forward a few steps, loosened its tail, and let Song Jun roll to the ground.

Song Jun’s stomach jolted, and he almost vomited.

The little fox also turned into a human form. He reached out and grabbed a handful of shaggy golden hair on his head and pulled out the pendant around his neck from his collar. Song Jun saw that it was clearly a piece of Thousand Years Lamp, which had been used as a mobile phone chain before on his phone.

“Where is this?” Song Jun asked, stroking his chest.

Xiang Wenxi said, “This is an abandoned building in the north of the city, fenced off and waiting for demolition.”

Song Jun stood up and found that the surrounding area was pitch black. It looked like an abandoned building, and the entire floor was very open. It might have been a large shopping mall or supermarket in the past.

Until now, Song Jun didn’t know much about what happened except that the boy in front of him was a fox demon. He didn’t even know why he escaped with him.

The surroundings were dark and terrifying.

He asked Xiang Wenxi, “Why do we come here?”

Xiang Wenxi stood quietly and said, “Waiting here for Ling Xiao to come over.”

Song Jun was not willing to stay here and wait for Ling Xiao to come over. Because the surrounding was a completely closed environment, there was no light at all. He didn’t even know which direction to go.

But he still tried to take a step and then heard Xiang Wenxi say, “Don’t move recklessly, or you might get trapped in my illusion.”

“What illusion?” Despite asking, Song Jun still tried to take a step forward.

At this time, he saw light coming from a distance.

“Who is it?” Someone asked loudly from a distance while walking in the direction with a flashlight.

Song Jun looked back at Xiang Wenxi and saw that Xiang Wenxi had not moved, so he took two steps in the direction of that person and asked, “Who are you?”

The man walked closer and closer with a flashlight. Song Jun finally saw his appearance clearly. He was a simple middle-aged man. The man said, “I’m the gatekeeper. Who are you? This building is scheduled for demolition. Why did you come in? There’s nothing here!”

Song Jun breathed a sigh of relief and said, “I’m sorry, I’m going out right now.”

“Tsk!” the middle-aged man said, “I don’t know how you sneaked up here. Young people nowadays really think there is nothing here. What is there to do? Come on, follow me out!”

Of course Song Jun would like someone to take him out.

Looking back, Song Jun wanted to find Xiang Wenxi but found that he had disappeared.

The middle-aged man urged him, “Let’s go quickly.”

Song Jun hesitated, and asked the man, “Uncle, did you just see a young man with me?”

When the middle-aged man heard this, he said, “Where is the young man? I only see you.”

Song Jun said, “The one standing next to me.”

The middle-aged man held up a flashlight and waved around, “There’s no one around. Don’t scare people by telling nonsense at night. I saw you were alone from the beginning to the end.”

Xiang Wenxi was a demon, and Song Jun had not forgotten it. Compared with the demon, Song Jun felt that the uncle in front of him was more reliable. After hearing the middle-aged man’s urging again, Song Jun followed him forward.

When they were far away, Xiang Wenxi appeared on the spot, looked at the direction Song Jun left and said, “I told you not to walk around casually.”

Whether it was a supermarket or a shopping mall, it was surrounded by a completely closed environment. It was already night, and the lights from outside couldn’t penetrate at all.

The road Song Jun could see was illuminated by the middle-aged people next to him holding flashlights.

He didn’t know which direction they were walking in, but large shopping malls like this usually only had elevators, and the stairs were often in the corners of the shopping mall, making them not easy to find. The old shopping mall had a power outage, so of course, it was impossible to take the elevator downstairs. Maybe they could go down from the stopped elevator, but he didn’t know if it had been demolished, so the middle-aged man around him probably took him to the stairs to find the safe passage.

“It’s so dark. How did you find your way up?” the middle-aged person asked. “Aren’t you afraid?”

Song Jun didn’t know how to answer, so he had to say, “I originally had a flashlight, but it ran out of power just now.”

The middle-aged man responded, “Oh… What’s so fun about this? You’re still a student, right? A middle school student?”

“No, I’m a college student,” Song Jun was embarrassed to say that he was a graduate student.

As the middle-aged man walked, the flashlight in his hand swayed up and down according to his walking posture. Song Jun could not see in the distance. He could only see the road ahead, which was full of dust and waste.

The two people walked to a wooden door. If they expected correctly, there should be a safe passage behind this fire door.

Song Jun was half a step behind the middle-aged man, and he waited for the middle-aged man to open the door.

At this time, the middle-aged man said again, “It’s so dark. How did you find your way up? Aren’t you afraid?”

Song Jun was about to answer him when he suddenly realised that this middle-aged man had only asked this question once before, and the content of the question was exactly the same as his previous question.

After hesitating for a moment, Song Jun said, “My flashlight is out of power.”

Then, he heard the middle-aged man say, “Oh… What’s so fun about this? You’re still a student, right? A middle school student?”

After hearing these words, Song Jun’s arms were instantly covered with goosebumps. He slowly raised his head and looked at the middle-aged man’s face.

Chapter 40 – Homeward Journey (1)

Qin Yun was not in a relaxed mood on the way back. He communicated with Lin Dongliang via video once, and the other party comforted him.

“Don’t worry, even a god-level person can’t easily guide His Majesty.” The Secretary of State said with a gentle smile, “Although the other party wanted to, they didn’t succeed after all.”

Qin Yun couldn’t help but ask, “His Majesty… Is he okay?”

Lin Dongliang hesitated for a while before replying, “It’s okay; Kyle’s mental power is not strong enough to harm His Majesty.”

Qin Yun frowned. He always felt that the other party seemed to be hiding something from him, but he couldn’t find the reason to pry. He could only repeat it again, “I will be there tomorrow afternoon; don’t forget to tell him.”

Lin Dongliang smiled and replied, “Alright.” He waited until the other party turned off the video before turning around.

Moschery leaned against the bed with a pale face. Unlike the guide, the sentinel did not have strong mental power. Although the barriers erected by their consciousness cloud could defend against the guide’s mental attacks to a certain extent, it was simply torture to the brain when encountering the same level.

“He will arrive tomorrow afternoon.” Lin Dongliang looked at the Emperor worriedly, “Your consciousness cloud has been severely damaged… It is impossible for Qin Yun not to notice it.”

“It doesn’t matter.” Moschery said calmly, “He can’t see Zhongyan. As for me… I can ask a makeup artist to cover.”

Lin Dongliang disagreed. He had witnessed a head-on confrontation between one god-level and another today. Although Kyle was forced to have a mental breakdown in the end, Moschery was not much better. His consciousness barrier was riddled with holes, and he almost came close to having mania several times.

The Emperor took Zhongyan back into the realm of consciousness. The dragon’s wings were covered with scars. It carefully wrapped its tail around itself, turned its head, and licked the blood on its wings.

Even if Lin Dongliang couldn’t see it, he still knew that the Emperor’s spiritual link was injured. Although the god-level had strong self-healing ability, the pain he suffered was still the same.

“I will pick him up at the port tomorrow.” Moschery seemed to have thought of something, with a slight smile on his face, “Fortunately, the wedding is almost ready.”

The Crested Ibis arrived at the port at noon the next day. Before Qin Yun landed, he saw the royal escort waiting below. Moschery stood in front, his scarlet cloak behind him, flying up and down by the air current.

The Emperor smiled when he saw him.

Qin Yun couldn’t wait for the cabin door to be fully opened and jumped down. Moschery opened his arms and took him firmly into his arms. The two hugged him for a long time until Bixi, who was following Qin Yun, couldn’t help but say, “Alright, although a short parting is better than a honeymoon, at least pay attention to the occasion.”

“Hey.” Qin Yun let go of Moschery with some embarrassment but did not let go of the Emperor’s hand, “This is Bixi.” He introduced her to Moschery, “The first representative of Averio Academy.”

Bixi curtsied gracefully and looked at her prospective son-in-law, “Nice to meet you, Your Majesty.”

“Welcome to our wedding.” Moschery bent down slightly, took Bixi’s hand and kissed the back of her hand, “You are younger and more beautiful than I imagined.”

Bixi smiled with wrinkles almost appearing at the corners of her eyes, “Little Rainbow Dash is indeed right, Your Majesty; you have such a sweet mouth.”

Qin Yun didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He carefully looked at Moschery’s face. Although he didn’t find anything unusual, he still felt a little strange…

The Emperor had not yet reacted when his chin was held. Qin Yun was so close to him that he almost touched the tip of his nose. The other person frowned and stared at his face.

“Are you wearing makeup?” Qin Yun asked uncertainly, “Why is your skin colour so unnatural?”

“…” Moschery replied by biting the other directly on the mouth.

When he encountered the Olympus men at the entrance of the palace, Moschery’s expression was so gloomy. He didn’t expect that Kyle would recover quickly and still have the strength to cause trouble.

The god-level guide’s face was almost translucently pale. Standing there with a somewhat delicate appearance, he seemed a bit pitiful. When he saw Qin Yun’s face, he clearly paused for a moment. However, upon realising that the other was just an ordinary person, he immediately calmed down.

Moschery knew something was wrong when he saw Kyle’s normal eye slowly turn golden. He shouted anxiously, “Qin Yun!” Before he could take action, the other party stepped in front of him.

Kyle said in surprise, “How did you…” But before he could finish his words, Qin Yun punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground.

       Moschery: “…”

Qin Yun flicked his wrist, looking down at the guide who was lying on the ground unable to get up for a long time, and said coldly, “I heard that you want to divert my sentinel?”

       Kyle: “…”

Qin Yun: “Do you know that you can’t touch other people’s things casually?” He turned to Tristana and told Tristana, “Bring the high-energy cannon.”

Kyle watched with horror as the other party easily carried the huge cannon barrel, and Qin Yun pressed the muzzle heavily against the god-level guide’s head.

“Get out of here right away.” Qin Yun lowered his head and said coldly, “Or else, I’ll kill you right now.”

Old Butler Ba Jin saw off the Olympus ship with a smile on his face, but as soon as he returned to the palace, he found the queen-to-be with his arms folded and staring at His Majesty with a serious expression.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were injured?” Qin Yun frowned. His high-energy cannon was placed at his feet, which made Ba Jin couldn’t help but look over.

Moschery had an unpleasant look on his face. It was probably the first time in his life that the Emperor looked so embarrassed. He said harshly, “It’s just a minor injury…it will be fine in a few days.”

Qin Yun sighed, “The wedding will be held after you recover from your injury.” He turned around and stopped looking at Moschery, “I will sleep by myself tonight.” After that, he picked up the high-energy cannon and went to the guest room alone.

“…” The Emperor stared at Qin Yun’s back in shock. He turned his head in disbelief and asked Ba Jin, “Is he… angry with me?”

Ba Jin asked, “I think… so?”

Moschery: “…How dare he be angry with me?!”

       Ba Jin shrugged.

The Emperor let out a displeased “Ha”, turned around and left with an ugly expression on his face, only to step back after a few steps and grunted awkwardly, “Young ladies just have a bad temper…forget it, I’ll go and coax him!” “

       Ba Jin: “…”

Qin Yun looked at His Majesty the Emperor standing at the door of the guest room with no intention of getting out of the way. He leaned against the door with his arms folded and said calmly, “Do you know what you did wrong?”

Of course Moschery didn’t feel that he was at fault. He hesitated for a long time with a stiff face and didn’t know what to say.

“Even if I lose my guide ability, I am not useless at all.” Qin took a deep breath, “You are not the only one who wants to protect me.” He closed his eyes and said slowly, “I also want to be the one you rely on.”

Moschery opened his mouth, and he said impatiently, “Then let’s get married right away; no need for delays.”

Qin Yun tilted her head and looked at him.

“Let’s get married.” The Emperor promised with all his might, “I will rely on you.”

Qin Yun made a ‘pfft’ sound, “Do you know what I mean by relying on?”

“I understand.” Moschery looked at him seriously, “I will believe you, respect you, cherish you…and love you for the rest of my life.”

“…” Qin Yun held his forehead helplessly, “That’s not relying on… you are confessing. It’s too foul.”

Moschery didn’t defend himself. He suddenly stepped forward to hold the door, lowered his head and kissed Qin Yun’s lips. The latter finally couldn’t help but stretch out his hands and wrap his arms around the Emperor’s neck.

“Let’s get married tomorrow.” His Majesty the Emperor muttered vaguely, “I’ll help you try the dress to see if it fits you later.”

Qin Yun was in a daze after being kissed, “How can I try it…”

“I’ll help you try it on.” Moschery raised his head and stared into Qin Yun’s eyes, “I will be responsible for helping you put it on and then take it off.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

Chapter 38 – The Bar

Xia Hongshen clearly didn’t seem too concerned about the fact that Song Jun had lost the fragment of the Thousand Years Lamp he had worked hard to collect.

Song Jun, however, was quite bothered by this because the item was lost while in his possession. Moreover, he noticed that lately, Xia Hongshen’s interests had changed into dilly-dallying with him. Song Jun felt very puzzled by this behaviour, as their relationship wasn’t like that. The constant hugging and touching felt almost like a form of harassment.

Since Xia Hongshen didn’t seem to care, Song Jun thought of someone—Long Xing.

Long Xing was a policeman, so finding a thief who stole mobile phones would not be a big problem.

Song Jun gave Long Xing a call for this purpose. Long Xing asked him in detail the brand and model of his mobile phone, where he lost it, and who might have stolen it.

Hearing his careful question, Song Jun also recalled the incident carefully, and suddenly, he remembered the young man who passed by him.

Song Jun said, “When I was going out, a boy bumped into me. I don’t know if it was to steal my mobile phone.”

Long Xing then asked him to recall the boy’s appearance and clothing.

Song Jun thought for a while and told Long Xing everything he could recall. Long Xing then told him that he would check it out and asked him to just wait for the news.

Two days later, Long Xing came to the Forensic Medicine building and told Song Jun that he had discovered something strange.

       “What?” Song Jun asked.

Long Xing said, “I’ve asked quite a few people, but it seems that no one at the campus saw anyone matching the description of the young person you mentioned that day. I even checked the surveillance camera at the intersection ahead during the time you specified, and there was no young person with the characteristics you described passing through there.”

Song Jun was a little disappointed.

Long Xing said to him, “Let me check again. Most of these thieves are habitual thieves, and I’m sure they’ll do it again.”

Song Jun thanked him and then said, “My mobile phone is actually not important. The important thing is that it has Senior Brother Xia’s Thousand Years Lamp fragments on it.”

“Oh?” Long Xing was also a little surprised when he heard this, “Have you ever thought that that person might not have come to steal your phone but came for the Thousand Years Lamp?”

Song Jun looked at him and suddenly felt a little terrified for some reason. If they were there for Thousand Years Lamp, then that person probably was not an ordinary person, and he didn’t know what kind of weird stuff it was.

The place where the two met was in Xia Hongshen’s office. While they were talking, Xia Hongshen suddenly came in from outside.

Today, there was a case for autopsy on the first floor. He didn’t take off his white coat, and there was still a trace of blood. When he walked in and saw Song Jun, he came over and hugged him.

Song Jun was startled and disliked the fact that he was dirty, so he quickly wanted to push him away.

When Long Xing saw Xia Hongshen, he happily shouted, “Teacher Xia!”

Xia Hongshen reached out and touched Long Xing’s head and then continued to hold Song Jun, rubbing his face against the top of his head.

Song Jun pushed him away with great strength and said, “I’m leaving first!” Then he ran out of Xia Hongshen’s office with a red face.

Upon returning to the dormitory, Song Jun had no choice but to take off all his clothes and change. He thought to himself since it was Xia Hongshen’s stuff anyway, so he wasn’t in a hurry. He couldn’t figure out why he was in such a hurry, so he decided not to bother about it and let things be.

However, losing a mobile phone was always a troublesome thing. After changing clothes, Song Jun sat in front of the computer, searching for a new mobile phone.

In the evening, Song Jun went to the supermarket near the campus alone.

He stood in front of the pet supplies counter, and Song Jun was in a daze. The little black cat seemed to have not come to him for a long time, and he didn’t know what it was doing…

Song Jun picked up a bag of cat food, but he put it back afterwards. When he turned around, he saw the boy with curly yellow hair and fair skin again.

The boy was carrying a backpack and seemed to be visiting the supermarket.

As soon as he saw him, Song Jun followed him subconsciously. When he got closer, he stopped again, thinking that even if he rushed over, that guy probably wouldn’t admit that he had stolen his mobile phone.

Song Jun kept chasing him after paying the bill and walking out of the supermarket. He didn’t expect to be able to stop him but just wanted to follow the man to see if he went back to campus. As long as he knew which dormitory he lived in, he could stop, tell Long Xing the situation and let Long Xing investigate.

The young man didn’t seem to notice anyone following him. He came out of the supermarket and walked in the direction of the campus.

Song Jun followed him at a close distance. One after another, they walked to the street at the south gate of the campus. This street was very lively every night. In addition to many restaurants, there were also a lot of bars and pubs, and the milk tea shop where Song Jun works was also on this street.

Seeing that he was getting closer and closer to the campus gate, Song Jun could confirm that the boy was a student of the campus, but he saw him standing at the door of the public toilet on the right side of the street and stopped.

The boy looked up at the public toilet door for a while. Just when Song Jun thought he was going in, he walked into a small alley next to the public toilet.

       It was a dead end.

Song Jun passes this street almost every day. He didn’t need to confirm it at all. He could definitely say that there was no road in that alley; it was just a dead end between the public toilet and a barber shop next to it.

There were no lights in the alley, but it was not completely dark because there were tall street lights next to it.

He cautiously leaned closer to take a look but found that there was no sign of the young man in the alley. The boy disappeared in this roadless alley.

Unable to resist, Song Jun took a few steps towards the inside, wondering if the young man had noticed being followed and had jumped over the wall to enter the school directly from there. Suddenly, he noticed an iron gate at the end of the alley.”

Was there ever a gate here? Song Jun found that he really couldn’t remember clearly.

He stood there blankly for a while and made up his mind to turn around and leave immediately, but before he could leave, a tall man suddenly appeared behind him, put a hand on his shoulder and said, “What? Do you want to go in, classmate? Come with me.”

       Song Jun said, “I don’t…”

The man’s hands were very strong, and he obviously didn’t listen to what Song Jun had to say. He only said two words, and the person already pulled him behind the iron gate.

Inside the iron gate was a bar.

It looked like a very ordinary bar, with people drinking and chatting. But it didn’t look like the bars that appeared around the campus because the people here didn’t look like students.

There were a lot of people in the bar, and Song Jun felt less scared after he came in because, with so many people, there wouldn’t be any demons suddenly appearing.

He turned to look at the man next to him and found that he was very tall, probably close to two meters tall, and very strong.

The man smiled at him and patted his back, almost knocking him down.

Many people in the bar looked in this direction and seemed a little surprised to see Song Jun. Some people asked, “Who is he? How did he get in?”

The tall man said, “I brought him here.”

Many gazes were directed in this direction. The man took Song Jun’s hand and walked forward, saying, “Where is Ling Xiao?”

The bartender in front of the bar said, “There’s a show tonight. The boss is in the back explaining things.”

The man smiled and said, “That’s great.” He grabbed Song Jun’s hand and walked to the table on the side to sit down. “Stay and watch the show.”

Song Jun’s arm felt hurt from being pulled by him. At this time, he finally had the opportunity to ask, “Who are you? What on earth is this place?”

The man crossed his legs, hugged his right knee with both hands and said to him, “The Bar.”

Song Jun stood up, “I’m leaving.”

But the man pulled him hard and said, “Sit down and watch the show.”

Seeing the tension in the man’s muscular arms and the absence of a smile on his face, Song Jun felt a bit nervous. The man’s countenance appeared dark and serious. Suddenly, Song Jun turned his head and glanced at the bar once again.

The bar still looked nothing special, with a small stage in the middle. At this time, all the guests’ attention fell on the stage in the middle, but at the same time, many people were paying attention to him.

He felt like this was a small bar where the guests were all familiar with each other, but he was a stranger who had barged in for no reason, and everyone was wary of him.

The performance was about to start. Song Jun didn’t know what kind of performance it would be, but he suddenly felt a little excited at this time.

Before the performance officially started, a waiter came to Song Jun’s table. While looking at Song Jun, he whispered something in the man’s ear. The man waved his hand and said, “It’s okay, call Ling Xiao to come over later, he knows.”

The waiter said nothing more, apologised and left.

Song Jun asked softly at this time, “What kind of performance is it?”

The man said to him, “Murder.”

Song Jun was stunned when he heard this.

At this time, the spotlight on the stage lit up, and the performance officially began. Song Jun saw a young man being pushed out of the stage with his eyes covered, his mouth gagged, and his hands and feet bound.

The person was clearly the boy with yellow curly hair from before.

Song Jun stood up in surprise and was pulled to sit down by the man next to him.

Unable to calm down, he asked, “You want to kill him?”

The man said, “I’m just watching the show, why are you so anxious!”

Next, Song Jun saw another man go up to the stage. The man held a whip in his hand and slapped the boy hard on the face.

Immediately, blood flowed from the young man’s face.

Immediately afterwards, the whip in the man’s hand struck the young man’s body one after another. The young man groaned miserably, and soon, blood seeped out all over his body.

Song Jun looked at this scene in disbelief, his hands trembling a little. He simply couldn’t believe that there was such a terrible and dehumanising performance just outside the campus separated by a wall. No. How could this called a performance? This was a massacre.

He stood up again, and the man reached out to pull him. He grabbed the man’s arm and bit him hard.

The man waved his hand, and Song Jun was pushed away by a strong force, and his body knocked over a table next door. Ignoring the pain and the commotion, he got up from the ground and rushed towards the stage. He wanted to stop the cruel performance from continuing.

However, he still failed to go up. When he first stepped onto the stairs, he was stopped by a man. The man was wearing black clothes and pants, with strong features and a scar diagonally across one cheek.

Song Jun was hugged directly by him, and he looked at each other face to face. He heard the man’s deep voice and asked doubtfully, “Chunjun?”

The moment he heard these two words, Song Jun felt as if his head had been hit hard by something. Something surged up, but he couldn’t catch anything.

However, the man immediately threw him away and said, “You are not Chunjun. How could Chunjun be like this?”

Song Jun fell heavily to the ground.

At this time, the man who brought Song Jun in came over and shouted, “Ling Xiao.”

Ling Xiao, the man in black, looked towards him.

The tall man leaned into his ear and said something unknown.

Ling Xiao’s cold face showed a slightly surprised look, and then he looked at Song Jun and said, “Are you really Chunjun?”

Chapter 20 – Confinement

When Lin Hui noticed that Zhuo Yue’s hand holding the cup was trembling unconsciously, he finally couldn’t bear it anymore and dialled Fang Mingyan’s number.

The drama of the TV series finally came to an end, and Lin Hui drove him back to his apartment.

Zhuo Yue leaned in the back seat in a daze; his head was groggy and exhausted even though he was resting. It wasn’t until the car left the city centre that he noticed something wrong with the route and asked, “Where are we going?”

Lin Hui spoke hesitantly, “Chairman Fang said he wanted to see you.”

Zhuo Yue froze and frowned, “Did you tell him about me taking some medicine?”

“Ge, I can’t see you going on like this.” Lin Hui gritted his teeth helplessly, “Those medicines are bad for your health, you can’t take them anymore.”

The person in the back seat was quiet for a long time and said softly, “He can’t help me.”

When Zhuo Yue stepped into Hanguan No. 15, Fang Mingyan frowned slightly.

He had lost weight all over; the flesh he had gained at this place was all gone, his chin sharpened, his face devoid of any colour, and the vitality in his black eyes was gone entirely, leaving them empty and lifeless.

“Chairman Fang.” Lin Hui greeted in a low voice.

“I’ll give you a week’s leave.” Fang Mingyan, who was wearing a loose-knitted sweater, put down the stack of documents in his hand and said, “He has been staying at my place recently. I have already asked Shen Luo to cancel all his recent schedules. Please go and verify.”

Lin Hui responded, secretly looking at the face of the person next to him and whispering, “Ge, I’m leaving first.”

Zhuo Yue did not respond and just stood quietly. After Lin Hui left, he looked at the man in front of him and said, “There is nothing wrong with my body.”

“It’s not up to you to decide.”

“It’s not up to you to decide either.” Zhuo Yue frowned, “You have no right to cancel my schedule without permission.”

Fang Mingyan looked at him calmly, “The contract you signed stated that the company designated all your activities. As the current president of the company, I don’t think I don’t have that right.”

“That doesn’t make…any sense at all!”

“Whether it makes sense or not, you have no right to object. From today on, you will be under my direct control. The company will not arrange any itinerary for you without my permission.” Fang Mingyan’s uncompromising attitude left no room for negotiation.

“It took a lot of effort for me to gain my current popularity. What’s the difference between doing this and ruining me?” He gritted his teeth and asked.

There was a joking smile in the man’s dark eyes, “It doesn’t need to be so complicated to destroy you. I just need to find a doctor to issue a mental evaluation of you. An artist with psychological issues, dependent on addictive drugs to control his emotions—who else do you think would be willing to film with you?”

Zhuo Yue’s heart trembled, and there was a bit of panic in his eyes.

“In the next period of time, I will handle your problems my way. During this process, I need your absolute cooperation.” Fang Mingyan said slowly, “I will no longer treat you with the courtesy of a landlord treating a tenant. I am your master, in control of you, and you, as my sub, are at my disposal.”

As Zhuo Yue’s mind flashed with the image of Nick crying out in climax, his face suddenly flushed red. He muttered ‘boring’ under his breath and turned to leave. The door wasn’t locked, but just five minutes after he pushed it open, he was intercepted by two tall security guards and forcefully escorted back in front of the man.

The two of them bowed and said, “Mr Ming, according to your request for full-day perimeter surveillance and repatriation services, we have returned your guest.”

“Quite efficient.” The man said with a leisurely smile, “It seems that this guest has been leaving without permission quite frequently recently.”

“We will focus on surveillance and assign special personnel to patrol outside your residence.” After saying this, the two of them nodded and left without saying a single unnecessary word. They were very well-trained.

Fang Mingyan looked at him calmly, “Are you going to cooperate, or are you going to continue to resist?”

“I’m not interested in playing that ridiculous game.” As soon as Zhuo Yue finished speaking, the man grabbed his wrist and pulled him straight upstairs. The other party’s strength was astonishing, and his resistance was completely futile. He was clumsily dragged up to the fourth floor and then had his arms locked into handcuffs hanging from the beam while his legs were bound to the semi-circular steel ring set into the floor.

He roared angrily, “Fang Mingyan! Are you crazy? This is illegal detention!”

The man approached slowly, standing before him. There was still a cynical smile playing at the corner of his lips, but his eyes, as deep as the night, held no trace of amusement, emitting a solemn and chilling aura.

He didn’t care about the charge of ‘illegal detention’ at all, but he really wanted to lock him up here.

Zhuo Yue, who was restrained by the shackles, felt cold all over, and there was a hint of compromise in his tone, “…let me go, I will go to the hospital and stop taking the medicine.” Seeing that the other party was unmoved, he gritted his teeth and said, “Even if you lock me here and give me hundreds of lashes, I won’t comply.”

“You don’t necessarily need to use a whip to make people obey.” Fang Mingyan said calmly, “I have many faster ways to make you obey my rules. Today we will try the fastest one.” With that, he turned and walked to the side of the door. Something was covered with cloth, with only a triangular frame visible underneath the fabric.

Zhuo Yue looked at the outline of the thing and intuitively had a bad feeling in his heart. He shook his head hastily and said, “Don’t…”

However, the moment he made the sound, the man had already raised his hand and pulled off the grey velvet fabric covering it.

A camera with a dark lens was pointed squarely at him.

       His blood seemed to solidify.

It felt like a bucket of ice-cold water had been poured directly over him in the midst of winter. His body was frozen stiff by the irresistible cold, devoid of sensation. His breathing became heavier and heavier, and his neck felt as if someone had choked him, making him unable to breathe. That dark lens was entangled with his nightmares, wielding a blade of torment and burying his deepest fears within him. The continuous suppression and excessive medication hadn’t made it disappear; instead, the madness grew and spread wildly, entangling him tightly and dragging him deeper into darkness.

       Medicine…

He needed the medicine; he wanted to escape, but at this moment, he could only be trapped in place, forced to face the dark lens, unable to do anything.

“Let me go, let’s talk…” Zhuo Yue tried his best to calm down, but there was an uncontrollable tremor in his voice.

“There is no need for us to talk before you agree to obey my rules.” The man turned on the camera, and the green indicator light appeared.

       The machine was turned on.

Then, the electronic screen in front of Zhuo Yue also lit up, and what was displayed on it was a picture of him captured by the camera in real-time.

“Do you like the way you are tied up?” Fang Mingyan raised the corners of his lips, “Besides that one, there’s a camera in each of the four corners of the room, and they’re all covered now. Until I hear the answers I want, I’ll activate one every twenty minutes.”

Zhuo Yue turned pale and said intermittently, “You can’t do this… Fang Mingyan, you can’t do this…”

“I’ll give you plenty of time to think it over without interruption. When you have an answer, you can call me at any time.” After saying that, he neatly left, leaving Zhuo Yue alone in the ‘cage’.

The sky outside the window was hazy, and there were no lights on in the room, making the whole space look gloomy and dark.

The camera was like a huge black eye socket that had been hollowed out, staring blankly at him, with a strange green light glowing from time to time. He closed his eyes and tried to hypnotise himself, but such self-deception didn’t work at all. Fear, like a swarm of tiny insects, emerged from the depths of his heart, gnawing away at his sanity, inching him closer to despair.

The mental oppression brought about a chain reaction in the body, and as time passed, little by little, the trembling became more and more intense. Cold sweat dripped down his forehead, and his throat was filled with a bitter and sour taste. He began to retch, unexpected dizziness followed, and the image in front of his eyes appeared as a shaky shadow.

“Fang Mingyan!” Zhuo Yue shouted the man’s name in a hoarse voice. When he saw him appearing in front of him again, he begged sadly, “I need to take medicine, give me medicine… I will die if this continues… “

Fang Mingyan’s eyes were very indifferent. He spread his right hand, and there was a small white medicine bottle in his palm containing the pills that Zhuo Yue had been taking. “Want it?” he asked.

Just like a thirsty traveller in the desert seeing a clear spring, Zhuo Yue looked at the medicine bottle with trembling eyes and nodded his head.

The man unscrewed the cap and slowly tilted the bottle under Zhuo Yue’s gaze. The white pills fell to the ground one after another, making a slight sound. When the bottle was empty, he threw it on the ground, turned to the left corner, pulled off the covering, and started the second camera.

Despair enveloped everything, and Zhuo Yue began to struggle like crazy.

“Fang Mingyan! Believe it or not, I will kill you!” He screamed with red eyes and pulled the chain loudly. However, the special steel shackles were indestructible, and the thick soft rubber wrapped in the inner ring only added some faint red marks on his wrists and ankles. Lack of sleep and dependence on drugs nearly emptied his body. After struggling for a while, he lost strength and hung his head, breathing heavily.

He didn’t dare to raise his eyes to look at the two machines. The fear he felt was like that of someone afraid of heights standing thousands of meters above ground, of someone afraid of snakes being wrapped by a python, of someone afraid of darkness walking in pitch-black night, or of someone afraid of ghosts passing through a vast graveyard. Every time he saw a camera, he felt like he was back in that moment of he was molested, plunged once again into that despair and helplessness.

The quiet, enclosed space intensified these emotions.

The nightmares were everywhere, like maggots attached to bones.

Excessive fear finally crushed his spirit. He vomited uncontrollably, cursed, screamed, and laughed nervously, venting all his pent-up emotions like a true psycho. Finally, he burst into tears—like a trapped animal that had given up its struggle, trembling in a snare, sad and helpless.

The light was fading, and in the dim room, he could vaguely make out the outline of the person in front of him through his tear-blurred eyes. He lowered his head and said in a hoarse voice, “Please… let me go…”

The man raised his chin, “I need an answer.”

At this moment, Zhuo Yue was exhausted. He trembled and said, “I can do anything… please, let me go…”

“Okay, the contract is established from now on.” Fang Mingyan unlocked his shackles. Due to his arms being suspended, Zhuo Yue couldn’t bend over, and there was a lot of vomit stuck to his lapel. However, the man seemed oblivious to it, holding him in his arms and carrying him away from that terrifying room.

Many years later, Zhuo Yue still clearly remembers that evening.

The man who held him in his arms said earnestly, “Zhuo Yue, I will make you feel better.”

Chapter 39 – The Bloom (3)

Zhongyan didn’t have rhinestones on his body today, so he didn’t react for a long time when he was called upon. The dragon blinked, looked up at Moschery, and then turned his head to stare at Kyle.

The guide smiled faintly at it. It was obvious that he could see it.

“No need to feel offended,” Kyle’s smile was gentle; he had an East Asian face, but his hair was silver, “I’m just like you.”

Zhongyan lay on the ground in a defensive posture and suddenly roared angrily when the other party’s guiding tendrils approached.

The dragon spread its black wings fiercely, and the glass on all sides of the reception room was directly shaken by the airflow and shattered to the ground.

“Don’t touch it with your dirty hands.” Moschery glanced coldly at the face of the other person who resembled Qin Yun and said with disgust, “Go back to where you came from and don’t let me see you again.”

Kyle withdrew his guiding tendrils and raised his eyebrows without showing any embarrassment, “I didn’t mean anything else, Your Majesty. You are also born as a god-level. I think you also need…”

Moschery interrupted him coldly, “I don’t need it.” He took off his military hat, and the dragon eyes behind the mask slowly became a straight line, “You are not a god-level at all.”

“Just a defective product.” His Majesty the Emperor sneered mockingly, “You are not qualified to talk to me.”

When she learned that Qin Yun was leaving, Bixi could not help but have words written all over her face, such as ‘paying more attention to a lover than his own mother’, ‘forgetting your mother when they have a wife’ and ‘I know you can’t help but be lustful, little seductress!”

“…” Qin Yun handed over the invitation, “Will you go back with me to attend the wedding?”

Bixi hummed. She opened the invitation and saw what Moschery had written, and her expression was surprised, “This is…”

“Very romantic, isn’t it?” Qin Yun smiled stupidly and raked his hair, “His Majesty is very kind to me and is a sweet talker… Well, he is also virtuous.”

“…” Bixi: “Isn’t this what you should do?”

Qin Yun was stunned, “I do them too… I coax him when he is angry.” After a pause, he felt a little depressed, “Although sometimes he gets angry for no reason…”

Bixi: “…With a husband as incomprehensible as you, I’m probably going to be irritable all the time.”

       Qin Yun: “??”

Tristana was in a bad mood while video chatting with the Secretary of State. The female general wanted to poke his face with her finger, “You just let them stay like that?! Blow them away! How does that old song go again… I’ll send you away! A thousand miles away!1it’s actually Jay Chou’s Song-Faraway

Lin Dongliang was helpless, “The peace treaty is still valid, and we have no right to intervene during a normal state visit.”

“How is this normal?” Tristana gritted her teeth, “What do they want to do by sending a god-level person here?! Bullying our Qin Yun for not having the ability to guide?! That Kyle is a better Queen?! Oh my!”

Lin Dongliang was amused by her, “Calm down… His Majesty certainly wouldn’t do anything to him.”

Tristana crossed her arms and grunted.

“Skarter has already gone to check.” Lin Dongliang said seriously, “Olympus has always been persistent in researching the gene cloning of god-level guides. It is the first time in so many years that a guide with a god-level gene fusion rate of more than 80% has appeared, which can be said to be a miracle.”

       Tristana frowned, “80%?! So high…”

“That’s right.” Lin Dongliang nodded, “If Helu is still here, he may really become the Queen of the Empire. Unfortunately, it’s His Highness who is in power now.”

Tristana remained silent. Everyone knew that Helu’s god-level gene fusion rate was only 65%. In recent decades, the god-level gene lineage of the Issa royal family has been degenerating. Generations of replication have caused the fusion rate of Sentinel to fluctuate below 80%, until Moschery’s birth.

Although Helu was weak and incompetent, he was not stupid. He knew that the Cabinet’s political system was stubborn and conservative but unable to change, so he used the gene of the first-generation god-level sentinel to clone his son without telling everyone.

“The only way to change powerful things is to be stronger than them.” Helu once said this while holding the young Moschery under the wisteria trellis. Even if the genes of the first-generation god-level sentinel were used, Because of his bloodline, Moschery still could not be 100% integrated.

The gene backfired, causing one of Moschery’s eyes to turn into a ‘dragon’s eye’, and the lack of strength prevented his spiritual link from showing its full form in the quantum space. No one except himself and his father could see that hideous dragon.

During his adolescent period, His Majesty was once resentful about his heritage, but as he grew older, he finally understood the meaning behind Helu’s words back then.

His father may not have given him love, but in the end, he gave him the courage to love.

“You are just a defective product whose fusion rate has just reached 80%.” Moschery took off half of the mask on his face and stared at Kyle coldly with his golden-red dragon eyes, “You don’t even have the so-called god-level spiritual link.”

The smile on Kyle’s face gradually faded. As Moschery said, he could only integrate 80% of the god-level guide gene. Not only that, but the gene backfired and caused complete blindness in his right eye, with no pupil and only a golden white.

But no matter what, he was the only guide in Olympus with a degree of integration above 50% in the past hundred years, and he was one of the few who has survived adulthood.

“Your Majesty.” Kyle sighed. He imitated Moschery’s actions and removed the mask on his face, looking at him with his only visible eye, “But after all, you and I are equal. Only I can see your dragon, right?”

“You don’t have a suitable guide by your side right now.” Kyle is confident that Moschery will accept him. After all, there were very few gods-level. “It’s impossible to have someone immune to your pheromones, and you wouldn’t want to be overwhelmed by mania one day, causing irreversible consequences, right?”

“Ha.” Moschery’s face was full of sarcasm, “Then you try it.”

“Look at your mental power.” His Majesty the Emperor stretched out a finger, tapped his temple, and said coldly, “Can you unblock my consciousness cloud?”

Upon learning that Olympus had sent a god-level guide, Chen Xiao’s first reaction was, “It won’t be a 100% match, right? If the guide makes a move, and our Majesty responds… what if they publicly emit Bonding Heat?!”

       Qin Yun: “…”

Tristana: “…I really want to take off my underwear and stuff it in your mouth!”

Chen Xiao glared at her: “My worries are completely warranted, okay! Sentinel and guide were naturally attracted to each other from the beginning!”

Tristana was about to curse him again when she heard a click. Qin Yun loaded a high-energy cannon and carried it on his shoulder with one hand.

“…” Tristana hugged Chen Xiao and quickly stepped back a meter…

“??” Qin Yun was confused, “I just plan to carry it to the spaceship… We’ll set off tonight, right?”

“Yes, yes, yes!” The female general immediately threw her sentinel aside in disgust, and the latter leaned on Qin Yun’s shoulder with a look of overwhelming regret.

“It’s too much…” Chen Xiao mockingly cried in a mournful tone, “I only just touched little canon girl’s hand a little… Wuwuwuwuwu!”

Qin Yun said calmly, “It’s okay. When I get back, I will issue a decree to have you both in relationship.” After a pause, he looked at Chen Xiao with some uncertainty, “Does the Queen have this right?”

       Tristana: “…”

Chapter 37 – Stolen

For so many years, Wan Mingguang’s soul had possessed this oil lamp. It was unclear whether the lamp was driven by his resentment or if his resentment had been growing under the influence of the lamp.

Did he hate it that much? He didn’t even know it himself. He actually didn’t want the whole village to be buried with him. He was satisfied watching these teenagers die one by one and watching the whole village suffer for this.

If it weren’t for the sudden intrusion of people like Xia Hongshen, he wouldn’t be where he is now.

He looked at the man standing in front of him. This man was his cousin. Since when had his cousin turned grey-haired and couldn’t even walk steadily? So much time had passed, but it was as if he was always trapped in that past and couldn’t get rid of it.

Wan Mingguang looked at Song Jun. He had noticed him since these people entered the village. This young man had very abundant spiritual power, even more abundant than the oil lamp he possessed, which made him yearn for him. This young man also knew his past; he was very anxious now, and this young man was looking at him and trying to persuade him.

The oil lamp had been extinguished, and Xia Hongshen’s finger touched the wick. He could take back this wick at any time, but at that time, he himself would lose his shelter, and even his soul would disappear from this world completely.

Actually, he should have expected such a day. From the day he decided to take revenge, he had already seen his own ending.

Wan Mingguang closed his eyes. His face was smooth and handsome, with soft lines. At the same time, the wailing villagers quieted down, the burning pain disappeared, and the blisters on their bodies also disappeared.

The surrounding fog became thicker and thicker until the figures of the villagers were buried in the fog, and the figure of Wan Mingguang standing opposite Song Jun became indistinct.

Wan Mingguang stopped, but Song Jun could still feel his resentment. He didn’t let go of his grudge; it was just a hopeless compromise.

At this moment, the old man standing in front of Wan Mingguang suddenly knelt down and said to Xia Hongshen, “Please let my cousin go. He was killed and he is innocent.”

It was a pity that Xia Hongshen didn’t feel compassion.

The old man said, “He didn’t kill those people; they were all killed by me! In order to avenge him, I bribed the medium back then. I exploited the villagers’ fear of their ancestors, forcing them to kill and collect lamp oil. It wasn’t Mingguang’s doing; it was all my doing!”

Song Jun looked at the old man in surprise, and Wan Mingguang’s eyes began to tremble.

The old man said, “I will pay them with my life. Please let my cousin go!”

When he finished speaking, he bumped his head against the pillar of the ancestral hall next to him. Blood immediately spread from his forehead. He closed his eyes, slid to the ground, and died immediately.

Wan Mingguang watched all of this in a daze, just not saying a word.

       Xia Hongshen said, “Longshao.”

The long whip was immediately retracted and transformed into Long Xing standing next to Xia Hongshen.

Wan Mingguang’s body lost its restraints, but he still stood motionless.

“Do you still resent?” Xia Hongshen asked him.

Wan Mingguang didn’t answer. He just suddenly felt confused and overwhelmed and lost the purpose of continuing to survive.

Xia Hongshen looked at his expression and nodded. He suddenly raised his hand, dispelling the fog that filled the sky and also dispersed the ghosts who wanted to swarm him.

Song Jun grabbed Xia Hongshen’s arm nervously, and Xia Hongshen said, “Don’t worry, I won’t eat him.”

Xia Hongshen raised the oil lamp in his hand and said to Wan Mingguang, “Come here.”

Wan Mingguang’s body began to shake, and his soul was leaving the body, as if he felt the attraction from the direction of Xia Hongshen, and finally slowly floated over and possessed the oil lamp.

The body of the young man possessed by Wan Mingguang also slipped to the ground and lost consciousness.

Xia Hongshen placed a seal on the oil lamp, then threw it to Long Xing and asked him to put it away.

Song Jun grabbed Xia Hongshen’s hand and didn’t let go, meaning to ask him what he planned.

Xia Hongshen told Song Jun, “I will take him out of here.”

Song Jun was relieved when he heard this.

As for these villagers, although they did not die of fear and fire, they would pay for the lives of so many innocent teenagers they had killed.

Because the roads were cleared overnight, when the sun climbed up the mountain, vehicles from the county public security bureau also drove into the mountain village.

The elder of the village and his son supported the crazy wife and came to the police to surrender.

The county public security bureau immediately reported the situation, and the city bureau promptly sent reinforcements. Guided by the elder of the village, they unearthed more than twenty sets of remains, all belonging to those who had lost their lives at a young age. Now, only bare bones remained.

Song Jun and the others were sent down the mountain, mainly because Song Jun’s tongue was seriously injured and needed to go to the hospital for treatment.

While Song Jun was undergoing treatment, Xia Hongshen called Yun Po and told him that there was big business on the mountain.

Yun Po angrily exclaimed over the phone, “Screw your big deal! Have you paid up?”

Xia Hongshen said, “Didn’t you accept Fengliu’s money last time?”

Yun Po yelled, “Is that your money?”

Xia Hongshen said expressionlessly, “Fengliu is mine. There’s no question about his money.” After saying that, Xia Hongshen hung up the phone.

Long Xing went to the small supermarket outside the hospital and bought a few bottles of water. He then gave one bottle to each of them.

Xi Anling took the milk tea she asked for. After twisting the lid for a long time without opening it, she stretched out her hand and handed it to Xia Hongshen.

Xia Hongshen took it and unscrewed it for her, then gave it back to her.

After waiting for a while, Song Jun came out of the treatment room. His tongue was anaesthetised and had stitches. Although it didn’t hurt so much now, it would be difficult to eat in the coming days.

After leaving the hospital, they went to the Public Security Bureau to cooperate with the investigation.

They all tacitly ignored Wan Mingguang’s incident and only said that they felt that the atmosphere in the village was not normal. Later, when they went to the ancestral hall on the mountain, they discovered lamp oil mixed with human fat and were besieged by the villagers.

The matter was settled, and their car’s tires were changed, and they drove down the mountain. At that time, although it was late, Xia Hongshen decided to drive back, even if it was going to be midnight when they returned to the city.

On the way back, Long Xing and Xia Hongshen took turns driving.

Song Jun was sitting in the back seat. Because he couldn’t speak, he leaned on Xia Hongshen’s shoulder and fell asleep after getting in the car. Along the way, Xia Hongshen got out to switch seats with Long Xing and drove. Song Jun then leaned on Feng Junyuan’s shoulder, continuing to sleep. Fortunately, Feng Junyuan didn’t mind his presence.

It was indeed midnight when they returned to the city. Long Xing showed his work ID to the security guard at the school gate and asked the security guard to open the door for him. He drove the car downstairs to Xia Hongshen’s dormitory.

Song Jun was so sleepy that he didn’t even know the car had stopped. He woke up because Xia Hongshen directly picked him up and carried him out of the car.

Song Jun woke up suddenly and struggled to get down.

Xia Hongshen didn’t force him; he put him on the ground and said goodbye to Long Xing and the others.

Song Jun also walked to the car and wanted to talk to Long Xing. Unfortunately, although the effect of the anaesthetic on his tongue was over, he still couldn’t speak very clearly.

Long Xing said to him, “I know what you mean. Go back and rest early. I will see you again in a couple of days.”

       Song Jun nodded.

He and Xia Hongshen returned to the dormitory together. In fact, they had been in the mountain for two days, and they hadn’t washed themselves properly. Now, they had time to take a comfortable bath, but Song Jun felt too tired. He thought about changing the sheets and comforter in the morning. Once back in the room, he lay down and fell asleep immediately. As for whether Xia Hongshen went straight to his own room or not, Song Jun had no recollection.

The next day was already Tuesday, and he only had the second class in the morning.

Song Jun woke up and saw that it was already past ten o’clock. Even if it was for the second class, he was still late. After some hesitation, he simply buried his head and fell asleep for a while.

After getting up, Song Jun sat on the edge of the bed and was stunned for a moment. He thought of Wan Mingguang and wanted to know what Xia Hongshen was going to do with Wan Mingguang.

Since he hadn’t had time to take a shower, Song Jun put on the dirty clothes from yesterday and went to Xia Hongshen’s room in his slippers to knock on the door. However, no one answered him after knocking for a while.

Bu Hui suddenly opened the door of his room and poked his head out to see Song Jun, “You’re back, Junior Brother?”

“Senior Brother Bu,” Song Jun called out. His tongue was still a little sore, and his words were slurred. “You didn’t go to the hospital?”

Bu Hui nodded, “Senior Brother Xia went out early in the morning. Maybe he went to work in the teaching and research office.”

After saying that, Bu Hui walked towards him, “What’s wrong, your mouth is hurt?”

Song Jun opened his mouth and showed him her tongue.

“Oh,” Bu Hui said, “this poor thing, don’t talk anymore. Rest well, and have some porridge for lunch.”

       Song Jun nodded.

In the afternoon, Song Jun took off all the sheets and quilt covers, went to the school bathroom to shower, and threw all the dirty clothes and sheets and quilt covers into the laundry room.

After tidying up, Song Jun planned to go to the lab and meet Xia Hongshen.

He had just come out of the dormitory when a young man passed him by, and the two of them bumped into each other accidentally.

“I’m sorry,” Song Jun apologised subconsciously. He turned to look at the boy and saw that his skin was very white, and his hair was curly and dyed yellow. At first glance, he looked like a mixed race.

The young man also looked at him and left without saying anything.

Song Jun continued to walk to the Forensic Medicine building. He found Xia Hongshen in the office upstairs, knocked on the door, walked in, and asked, “Senior Brother Xia, how are you going to deal with Wan Mingguang’s matter?”

Xia Hongshen didn’t answer, turned the swivel chair to face him, and waved for him to come over.

Song Jun walked over and stood in front of him.

Xia Hongshen said, “Open your mouth.”

       Song Jun opened his mouth.

Xia Hongshen looked at the wound on his tongue and wanted to lick it for him.

Song Jun didn’t know what he was thinking, so he asked again, “Will Wan Mingguang be punished?”

Xia Hongshen suddenly reached out and hugged him, let him sit on his lap, rubbed his face against Song Jun’s neck, and said, “He did something wrong. Shouldn’t he be punished?”

Song Jun felt that this position was extremely inappropriate! But he was a little reluctant to part away from Xia Hongshen as he felt Xia Hongshen rubbing his neck. He hesitated and then asked, “What kind of punishment should he receive? Although he did something wrong, in that situation, if it were me, I would probably retaliate like crazy.”

Xia Hongshen asked him, “Then what do you think is appropriate?”

Song Jun said, “I don’t know, at least it shouldn’t be too harsh a punishment.”

Xia Hongshen thought for a while and said, “I gave him to Yun Po and asked him to take him back to the temple. He was suppressed in the temple, chanted Buddha’s name, practised, and washed away his sins.”

Song Jun was a little surprised when he heard this, “Is it possible?”

       Xia Hongshen said, “Yeah.”

The spiritual power imbued in the wick of the Thousand Years Lamp over the years persisted even after removing the wick. The lamp itself now possessed spiritual energy. Wan Mingguang’s ghost was attached to the oil lamp. All that was needed was to hand it over to Yun Po to take back to the temple. After his cultivation and merits were complete, perhaps they could guide him to another reincarnation.

Song Jun finally breathed a sigh of relief when he heard what Xia Hongshen said. He suddenly became concerned about their position. He was worried about what he would think if someone came in suddenly.

He thought it was time to find an excuse to leave, so he reached for his phone to check the time, but when he reached into his pocket, he found that the phone was not there at all.

Song Jun was taken aback and rummaged through several of his pockets, but he was pretty sure he had taken his cell phone with him when he went out because he stood in the corridor and checked the time when he closed the door.

       He lost his cell phone!

Losing a phone wasn’t a huge deal; it wasn’t valuable, and the model was outdated. However, what concerned him was the phone charm Xia Hongshen had given him – it was a fragment of the Thousand Years Lamp!

Song Jun simply didn’t dare to look at Xia Hongshen. He was afraid that Xia Hongshen would be angry if he found out about this. The piece of Thousand Years Lamp he worked so hard to find was now lost again due to his own carelessness.

But it was impossible not to say anything. Song Jun finally made up his mind and said to Xia Hongshen, “It’s over. I lost my phone.”

Unexpectedly, Xia Hongshen had no reaction.

Song Jun then added, “The fragments of Thousand Years Lamp are still hanging on the mobile phone…”

Xia Hongshen finally gave a ‘hmm’, “I know.”

I personally feel that these chapters are written quite smoothly. Later on, the horror element might not be so horrible, with a greater focus on advancing the main plot.

Chapter 38 – The Bloom (2)

Bixi raised a ridiculous number of horses that Qin Yun felt like he was living back in the days before he turned 18. He brushed and fed the horses every day and took the horses for a walk. Fortunately, Moschery only had one dragon; if not, like Bixi, there would be more than a hundred Zhongyan every day… That picture was so beautiful that he dared not look at it!

Being with horses all day long, Qin Yun wanted to learn how to ride a horse first. He found a mare that seemed quite tame and stroked the horse’s back for a long time. He almost fell asleep while waiting for the horse before he got on it.

Bixi couldn’t stand it and looked at him, “If you’re going up, go quickly. Don’t dawdle.”

“…” Qin Yun struggled for a long time, “I have a trauma! I always feel that I can’t ride a horse… this kind of creature.”

Bixi was a little surprised, “Do you still remember?”

       “?” Qin Yun, “Remember what?”

Bixi: “Your spiritual link before you were eight years old…”

Qin Yun was horrified, “I have a spiritual link?!!!”

“What’s all the fuss about?” Bixi sneered. “You’ve become the guide of a god-tier sentinel. How much weaker can you be?”

Qin Yun: “…” What is this?! His 10 years as a sanitary pad were in vain!!

Bixi was riding on the horse. She controlled the reins and let the horse pace slowly, “I worked at the Guide Research Institute of Olympus 30 years ago. At that time, the Empire was still in the early days of Helu, and Olympus had not yet become independent, but the Land of Gods had its own ambitions.”

“God-level guide plan?” Qin Yun asked with a frown.

Bixi sighed, and her expression became solemn, “Of course, it’s not just about a god-level guide… Gene replication, cloning and combination are all experiments I do every day. How do you think His Majesty’s current abilities come from?”

“If sentinel is human wisdom.” Bixi looked at Qin Yun tenderly, “Then guide is human compassion.”

“In the year 2484, after 50 years of research, nearly a thousand scientists initiated genetic reform, and the ‘sentinel’ with terrifying five senses and combat power, super willpower and spiritual link was born.” Qin Yun paused, “That’s from the third year textbook of Averio Academy.”

Bixi said narrowly, “I didn’t expect that you, little Rainbow Dash, would be very serious about studying.”

“What’s the use of being serious… I’ve been a loser in the academy for 5 years…” Qin Yun said depressedly. He thought for a while and couldn’t help but ask Bixi, “Do you mean that sentinel can be cultivated to a higher level by means of gene duplication or cloning?”

“That’s right.” Bixi nodded, “The genes of the Issa royal family can be passed down to this day through generations of copying and cloning. Although god-level sentinels are precious and rare, sometimes their abilities are incomplete due to genetic instability. This is a consequence left over from the evolution through scientific means… It is human wisdom that promotes the purity and development of the sentinel bloodline.”

“However, there are also heights that human wisdom cannot reach, and that is evolution itself.” God Bixi took a breath. She seemed to be lost in memories; her eyes were heavy and sad, “Olympus tried to use the same method to cultivate the perfect god-level guide gene, but it has never been successful. The compatibility rate of god-level genes is even less than 50%, and the clones cultivated cannot be compared with the god-level sentinel.”

Qin Yun did not speak. He stroked the mane of the horse beside him and looked up at Bixi, “In other words, is it really impossible for a god-level guide to exist?”

“No, that’s not the case.” Bixi lowered her head and looked deeply into Qin Yun’s eyes, “Olympus is pursuing the wrong way of evolution, but miracles and hope often come by accident.”

Qin Yun didn’t seem to understand very well. When he wanted to ask again, he was interrupted by Bixi, “You will understand on your wedding night.”

“…” Qin Yun was speechless, “…Why do we have to wait until then?”

Bixi held the riding crop and laughed, and she replied nonchalantly, “Young people, well, being passionate and a bit impulsive is only natural. Just enjoy it to the fullest.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

When the Olympus fleet arrived near the Imperial Palace, it did not receive the welcome it deserved. The other party’s public relations minister, Breaux, had a gloomy face. He tapped the back of his chair with his fingers and finally had no choice but to get off the aircraft by himself.

In the end, there was only a Doberman below that barked at him ferociously for a couple of times.

       Breaux: “…”

The butler, Bajin, arrived a bit late. The elderly gentleman smiled elegantly and subtly, “Apologies for the tardy reception. His Majesty is currently choosing a wedding venue and lost track of time. Therefore, I am here to welcome you all.”

Breaux snorted with a smile, “Newly married, of course, I understand. However,” He turned back and glanced at Ba Jin, “I heard that the Queen is an ordinary person?”

“The Emperor and Queen love each other deeply.” The smile on Ba Jin’s face faded a little, “What does it matter if she is an ordinary person.”

“It doesn’t matter.” Breaux shrugged indifferently, “But His Majesty Moschery is not an ordinary person… Has he been in good spirits lately?”

Ba Jin frowned slightly. Just as he was about to refute, he saw four or five young men getting off another aircraft. One of them was wearing a white hooded cloak from head to toe.

Breaux immediately greeted him with a respectful expression. He seemed to have some exchanges with the other party before he turned to Ba Jin and said with a haughty expression, “His Royal Highness Kyle wants to meet the Emperor alone. Please help me pass on a message.” The gentleman replied, and Breaux continued, “Let’s just say that the god-level guide wants to provide mental guidance for your majesty, and I hope His Majesty will be able to honour us with his presence.”

“God-level guide?” Moschery narrowed his eyes and repeated, “That’s what they said?”

Ba Jin hesitated but still nodded.

“Although it has been rumoured that Olympus possesses god-level genes…” Lin Dongliang frowned deeply, “But didn’t the investigation show that the cloning was unsuccessful?”

Moschery’s expression was cold. He stood up, put on his military cap, and showed a sarcastic smile, “Since the other party has said so, it would be a pity not to go see him.”

When Breaux saw His Majesty the Emperor striding forward in the corridor, he was so shocked that he almost fell to his knees on the ground. Moschery raised his chin and signalled indifferently, “Open the door.”

Ba Jin bent down to salute, and he opened the door of the reception room over Breaux, who was standing stiffly.

Kyle was standing by the window. He turned around when he heard the noise.

Moschery looked at the other man silently.

“Your Majesty.” The guide bowed his head slightly in respect. He stretched out his slender white fingers and took off the hood on his head. The moment he saw the other person’s face clearly, Lin Dongliang, who was standing behind the emperor, took a gentle gasp.

Moschery’s face was as cold as frost.

Kyle smiled. He was exactly the opposite of Moschery, with a silver mask on the right half of his face.

“Your Majesty.” His gaze fell on the Emperor’s feet. After looking at it for a while, he slowly said, “You have a beautiful and mighty dragon.”

Qin Yun was so tired after brushing the last horse that he could hardly lift his arms. He simply took off his clothes and lay on the haystack, vaguely thinking about taking a nap, but as soon as he closed his eyes and prepared to squint for a while, the sound of buzzing wings suddenly came from above his head.

The emerald fax bird flew back and forth several times and finally landed on Qin Yun’s shoulder. He lazily reached out and took out the invitation from the Emperor.

Moschery’s handwriting was much better than the first time he saw it. He wrote Bixi’s name on the title page.

Qin Yun couldn’t help but open it. In the blank space in the middle of the invitation, the other party carefully transcribed the contract oath between sentinel and guide.

I would like to be your lighthouse, guiding your way, smoothing the scars of loneliness and the surges of stormy seas.

Your life belongs to me, and my soul will be with you.

His Majesty the Emperor then wrote another line, “On the day of X, month, XXXX, I made this oath with Qin Yun, etching it in my heart, never to be betrayed.”

Qin Yun looked at it for a long time before closing the invitation. He shook the envelope and found that there was an extra piece of paper inside, with only one sentence on it.

“The flowers are blooming on the road, and you can return home slowly.”

Notes:
So I was actually going to make a quick note for the next chapter 39, because I found something odd
Chapter 34-36 title is 陌上 = The road(field)
While Chapter 37-39 is 花开 = The bloom (flowers blooming)
Chapter 40-42 is 归途 = Homeward Journey (journey to home)
Together they make 陌上花开归途, which means flowers blooming on the road(field) on the way home
At first I was wondering if it’s intentional but after reading the last sentence on this chapter. Yup, it’s intentional

Chapter 36 – Revenge

Song Jun suddenly reached out and grabbed Feng Junyuan’s neck. He opened his eyes wide, full of hatred; his face turned blue, and his nails gradually turned black.

Feng Junyuan tried hard to pry off his fingers and shouted with difficulty, “Song Jun—”

Long Xing came forward to help hold Song Jun but found that he was so strong that he couldn’t pull him away at all.

The oil lamp that had been extinguished suddenly started burning again and the air was filled with a thick smell of burning human fat, making people gag.

Xi Anling pressed her body against the door. She felt the people outside banging on the wooden door behind her as if they could push the door open at any time. She suddenly asked hurriedly, “What should I do?”

The smell of burning grease was getting stronger and stronger. It was obviously just a small oil lamp, but for some reason, the temperature in the entire ancestral hall began to rise. Xi Anling had her back pressed against the wooden door, but suddenly, she couldn’t lean on it anymore. She stood up straight and said, “It’s strange. This wood is hot.”

“Hahaha!” Song Jun suddenly laughed loudly.

Feng Junyuan’s face turned a little pale. Long Xing reached out and grabbed Song Jun’s neck, twisting hard to make him let go. Unexpectedly, Song Jun seemed not to be affected at all and still strangled Feng Junyuan’s neck.

Seeing this, Xia Hongshen stretched out a hand and grabbed it with five fingers. Song Jun’s expression changed, and his body couldn’t help but bump towards Xia Hongshen.

Feng Junyuan covered his neck, bent over, and coughed violently.

Long Xing stretched out his hand to support him, “Are you okay?”

       Feng Junyuan shook his head.

At this time, Song Jun had fallen into Xia Hongshen’s hands. He wanted to struggle, but Xia Hongshen easily restrained his movements. He held him in front of his chest with one hand and pinched his chin with the other hand to force him to raise his head and say over Song Jun’s head, “What are you going to do?”

Song Jun smiled wildly, “I want the entire village to be buried with me!”

“What a strong hatred,” Xia Hongshen said in his calm tone.

Song Jun said, “It’s useless for you to catch me. Do you feel it? This ancestral hall will burn down soon. Since you won’t leave, just stay and be buried with them.”

Xi Anling heard this and said angrily, “We have nothing to do with you!”

Song Jun sneered and said nothing.

The villagers outside the ancestral hall also smelled the greasy smell. One person asked strangely, “What’s going on? I feel very uncomfortable.”

Hearing this, the old man standing at the front opened his sleeves and touched his arms with his fingers. He felt an indescribable greasiness as if someone had applied a layer of grease on his body.

       “It’s so hot!” someone said.

The old man also noticed it. He took a step forward and reached out to touch the door of the ancestral hall. He felt that the place he touched seemed to be burning. He suddenly became agitated and choked up while standing in front of the door. He stretched out his hand to push the door open, but then he calmed down and said, “Don’t be nervous, everyone. Wait here. The ancestors of the Wan family will definitely bless us.”

In the ancestral hall, Xia Hongshen said to the person in his arms, “Leave his body.”

Song Jun’s hands were controlled and unable to move, so he bit his tongue hard and soon blood overflowed from his mouth, but he maintained a weird smile on his face.

Xia Hongshen finally frowned, raised Song Jun’s face, and kissed his lips.

The ghost of Wan Mingguang, who possessed Song Jun, felt a terrible force attracting him. He did not dare to stay in Song Jun’s body; otherwise, he would become Xia Hongshen’s food, so he chose to leave Song Jun at that moment.

The first thing Song Jun felt when he regained consciousness was pain. His tongue hurt so much that he couldn’t even speak. At the same time, he felt someone kissing him. After a trance, he discovered that the person kissing him was Xia Hongshen.

He was licking his tongue gently. It seemed that it was not as painful as it was at the beginning, and the blood did not continue to flow. It was very warm and comfortable.

Song Jun subconsciously wanted to close his eyes, but suddenly he heard Long Xing cough twice. He suddenly came back to his senses and realised where he was.

What happened? Song Jun distanced himself from Xia Hongshen and opened his mouth to ask but found that his tongue hurt badly when he tried to speak. Even though the blood stopped flowing, there were still blood stains everywhere on the corners of his mouth.

Although Xia Hongshen left Song Jun’s lips, his kiss immediately fell on the tip of Song Jun’s nose and forehead, like a gentle comfort.

Song Jun realised that everyone was still looking at them, and even though he was still weak, he couldn’t help but want to blush.

Xi Anling turned away angrily and pursed her lips.

Feng Junyuan had caught his breath by this point and said, “Where did that evil ghost go?”

However, Xia Hongshen was still holding Song Jun and touching his face with his lips. Song Jun couldn’t help but push him away and wanted to call out senior brother, but his tongue was so painful that he couldn’t speak.

       “Outside,” Xia Hongshen said suddenly.

“Ah?” Xi Anling was a little surprised and looked out the door.

Xia Hongshen said, “He wanted to burn all these villagers here.”

Song Jun shuddered when he heard the words. He wanted to speak but couldn’t say anything. When Wan Mingguang possessed him, he saw Wan Mingguang’s past memories with his own eyes. He knew that he was innocent and pitiful. He was full of hatred for these people, but the village had already killed so many young people because of him, and it would be too cruel to drag an entire village to die with him.

He couldn’t express his emotions, so he could only grab Xia Hongshen’s shirt and shake it, signalling Xia Hongshen to find a way to stop Wan Mingguang.

Seeing his anxious expression, Xia Hongshen raised her hand and called out, “Yueya1crescent moon.”

No one else reacted. Xi Anling was startled, and then she felt that her body could not help but fly towards Xia Hongshen’s hand. When it landed in Xia Hongshen’s hand, Xi Anling had turned into a bell. It was a bell in the shape of a crescent moon, and the small round piece struck the curved metal crescent moon, emitting a clear and crisp sound.

Xia Hongshen shook the crescent bell in his hand, and the sound spread far and echoed throughout the small mountain village.

Song Jun looked at Xia Hongshen in surprise and wanted to ask what it was, but when he opened her mouth, he covered his mouth in pain.

But Long Xing noticed Song Jun’s reaction, so he kindly asked for him, “What can this bell do?”

Xia Hongshen simply said two words, “Calling Souls.”

The crescent bell was used to summon spirits. Xia Hongshen rang the bell gently, and the sound of the bell spread throughout the mountain village. The lonely ghosts wandering around the mountain village all began to gather in this direction.

These ghosts were living sacrifices that had been killed by the villagers over the years, and the grease that was extracted for burning in oil lamps.

In fact, these dead teenagers were no longer the young people who persecuted Wan Mingguang back then. These people were innocent children, but they were deprived of their lives because of Wan Mingguang’s hatred that was stagnant in those years.

Their ghosts lingered around this mountain village for many years until Xia Hongshen and the others appeared.

It was the ghosts of these teenagers who caused the accident and made them be left behind when going down the mountain. They hoped that someone could stay and save the village so that no more people would be killed.

No one knew when the thin fog would become thick again. The villagers surrounding the ancestral hall feel more and more hot. Suddenly, someone exclaimed, “My body is blistered!”

The man stretched out his hand, and there were two blisters on his arm, which clearly looked like he had been burned by the high temperature. However, everyone only felt hot and did not feel the temperature of being burned at all.

Next, another man also found that his skin was burned. He shouted loudly, saying that there was something strange here and that his ancestors were angry, and rushed down the mountain.

The old man leading the crowd was still telling everyone to calm down, but someone found that his white beard had been burnt.

The man who had just rushed down the mountain broke into a heavy fog, but soon he came back from the fog. There was no way down the mountain. He ran straight forward, and in the end, he could only return to a small area near this ancestral hall.

At this time, everyone started to panic.

Someone said, “Those people offended the gods, kill them!”

       Others also chanted, “Kill them!”

A group of people rushed to break down the door of the ancestral hall, but as soon as their bodies touched the wooden door of the ancestral hall, their skin started to burn.

In addition to the old man, a young man stood in the crowd, looking at these crazy people expressionlessly.

Suddenly, the door of the ancestral hall was opened from the inside. As soon as they saw Xia Hongshen at the entrance, those people rushed forward, but Xia Hongshen held a silver whip in his hand. With a gentle flick, the whip struck the ground, producing a crisp sound and raising a cloud of dust.

Others wanted to rush forward, but Xia Hongshen’s long whip struck their arm. They immediately felt bone-piercing pain and rolled on the ground holding their arms.

For a moment, everyone stared at Xia Hongshen warily, and no one dared to approach.

Except for the young man standing quietly in the corner, who made no move, Xia Hongshen wouldn’t let him off. Xia Hongshen gently extended his hand forward, and the silver whip in his hand suddenly elongated, tightly binding the young man’s body, rendering him unable to move.

He saw the young man struggling, and suddenly, his appearance changed, turning into a handsome man, and his clothes changed into a long gown.

No one in the village knew who he was except the old man. When he looked at the young man, he suddenly knelt down with tears in his eyes and shouted, “Cousin.”

Wan Mingguang struggled but was still unable to break free from the shackles of the whip, so he looked up to the sky and laughed, saying, “No one can escape today anyway, so stay and die together!”

“Cousin!” An old man knelt on the ground and rushed toward Wan Mingguang, hugging his legs.

Wan Mingguang didn’t look at him, just maintained a cold smile on his face.

Xia Hongshen suddenly said, “I’m afraid you won’t get what you want.”

After he finished speaking, Song Jun came out of the ancestral hall with an oil lamp in his hand. Seeing Wan Mingguang, Song Jun suddenly felt heartache. Perhaps it was because when he was possessed by Wan Mingguang, the memory was so painful that it was still difficult to get rid of it. He wanted to open his mouth to dissuade him, but he couldn’t say a word. He could only shake his head at Wan Mingguang.

Xia Hongshen said, “You are just using the wick spiritual power of the Thousand Years Lamp to do evil. Without this wick, you are just an evil ghost with a grudge. How much power do you have to cause trouble?”

Wan Mingguang watched Song Jun hand the oil lamp to Xia Hongshen.

Xia Hongshen waved his hand, and the oil lamp went out.

“Without the wick of the Thousand Years Lamp, there are countless unjust souls in this village waiting to seek revenge on you. Do you have the ability to confront so many spirits? I think it would be more satisfying to let me devour you,” Xia Hongshen said.

As soon as he finished speaking, cries and wails echoed around the hill, full of sorrow and lamentation. It wasn’t just the countless youths who had been victimized; it also included the endless resentment left by parents who had lost their sons.

At this time, Song Jun pulled Xia Hongshen’s sleeve and shook his head vigorously.

Xia Hongshen turned around and saw that the corner of Song Jun’s mouth was still stained with blood, so he leaned over and licked it gently.

The old man held Wan Mingguang’s legs and stood up with difficulty. He stood in front of Wan Mingguang and said, “What are you going to do to my cousin?”

The surrounding villagers became more and more anxious, but they did not dare to come near due to the power of the whip in Xia Hongshen’s hand. Someone was already screaming and tearing his hair because he thought it was about to catch fire.

Song Jun also felt uncomfortably hot, and sweat dripped down his face. He had something to say but couldn’t say it out. He was so anxious that he almost vomited blood.

Xia Hongshen suddenly said, “He told you to stop.”

Song Jun was stunned and looked at Xia Hongshen.

Xia Hongshen continued, “He said that so many people have died. The children and grandchildren of those who killed you have also died because of you. Your revenge has been avenged. There is no need to bring the entire village to be buried with you.”

Song Jun nodded vigorously and looked at Wan Mingguang.

The weather is too hot. Be careful of heatstroke recently, especially girls who have to run outside. I wish everyone a happy weekend.
