Chapter 14 – Apprentice sent poisoned wine

Chapter 14

At the banquet, everyone was busy exchanging pleasantries, tasting the exquisite Immortal Wine, and completely ignoring the little incident on Si Lan’s side.

After the Immortal Wine feast, it was time for the Immortal Cranes to perform their dance.

In the realm of cultivation, the higher the cultivation level of the couple getting married, the more Immortal Cranes would participate in the dance.

As Lou Yu, the number one cultivator in the cultivation world, a total of eighty-one Immortal Cranes gathered on Xuanling Mountain.

In the sky, the Immortal Cranes gracefully glided through the white clouds, their white feathers simple and pure, their postures elegant and graceful. They danced freely, sometimes flapping their wings in a carefree manner, sometimes stretching their necks and singing high in the sky.

The gazes of the crowd involuntarily turned to the sky, enjoying the dance of the Immortal Cranes.

The disciples of the Xuanling Sect also joined in, performing sword dances and playing the flute in harmony with the cranes. Their robes fluttered, and the entire Xuanling Mountain was enveloped in the joyful and festive sounds, resembling a paradise on earth.

However, Si Lan alone had a solemn expression. Although his eyes were fixed on the Immortal Cranes, his thoughts were still dwelling on something he hadn’t fully contemplated yet.

“Wow, Master, what formation is that?” Xie Li suddenly reached out and pointed to the sky.

Si Lan’s thoughts were interrupted, and he listened to Xie Li’s soft voice. He couldn’t help but smile. “That’s the Immortal Crane Play Cymbals Formation.”

“Oh
” Xie Li pretended to understand and nodded.

Behind them, Quze noticed that their attention was completely focused on the Immortal Cranes, so he quietly left and went to the end of the courtyard.

He glanced around to make sure no one was following him before cautiously pushed the door open and entered.

The shadow of the window coffin cast on Quze’s face, making his slightly immature face appear somewhat sinister.

A huge snake head gradually emerged behind Quze. Its black scales gleamed with silver light, and its brown eyes seemed to almost bleed. Its voice seemed to come from a distant underground cave, silent and ominous, creating an invisible sense of pressure.

“He refused to drink that wine; perhaps he has discovered something. Mix a drug in it and serve it to him in person. It will ease his vigilance significantly.”

“Understood.”

Quze responded expressionlessly.

The snake head gave its orders and then disappeared into thin air.

Quze walked out of the room and saw Si Lan and Xie Li still enjoying the dance of the Immortal Cranes on the open terrace.

The midday sun was scorching, leaving everyone feeling parched. Quze requested a pot of tea and, after placing it nearby, poured a cup of tea for Si Lan.

“Your Excellency, it’s quite hot today. Have some cold tea.”

“Thank you.” Si Lan took the teacup, and as he was about to bring it to his lips, his eyes suddenly flickered. He looked at Quze and curved his lips, revealing a smile that was neither a smile nor a smirk. “The tea is quite good.”

Quze’s heart raced. Meeting Si Lan’s gaze, he thought Si Lan had discovered something. However, Si Lan downed the tea in one gulp. Quze cleared his throat. “I’m glad Your Excellency likes it.”

“You foolish Demon Lord.”

After finishing the tea, Si Lan suddenly heard a mocking voice in his spiritual consciousness. He couldn’t help but pause and asked, “What?”

“Hehe.”

Si Lan listened to the sound of “hehe” and confirmed that it wasn’t his imagination; someone was truly communicating with him through his spiritual consciousness.

“Who are you?” He responded through his spiritual consciousness, but the other person remained silent.

Si Lan furrowed his brows and asked Quze to prepare another cup of tea.

Seeing this, the small white dragon closed his eyes, giving up all resistance.

There was no hope left.

Why should he worry about the Demon Lord? He was only staying by his side to suck his blood.

If he died, well
at most, they would have some less fresh blood to drink.

Thinking of this, the little white dragon realized that he hadn’t had blood for most of the day.

Si Lan was defenseless against him; his collarbone and chest were exposed to him, and he could see the veins and even the blood vessels under Si Lan’s skin. Perhaps it was his imagination, but he always felt a faint fragrance emanating from Si Lan’s embrace, very pleasant.

At present, it wasn’t a good time to drink blood, but he could certainly enjoy the fragrance.

The little white dragon lowered his head to Si Lan’s collarbone, about to close his eyes and inhale the scent when he caught Xie Li sneakily glancing at him again, curiosity filling his big eyes.

The little white dragon suddenly turned around, let out a furious roar in his spiritual consciousness, scaring Xie Li, who shivered and quickly averted his gaze, standing up straight.

The little white dragon arrogantly turned his head, and his gaze fell on Si Lan’s other disciple, Quze. Quze was currently watching Si Lan’s nape, his expression neutral, and his emotions hidden.

The little white dragon suddenly felt some pity for Si Lan.

His two disciples, one was a fool, and the other was getting ideas.

Tsk tsk.

“What’s that?” Suddenly, an exclamation echoed.

The gazes of the crowd subconsciously followed the sound, only to see countless small snakes rapidly crawling up from the forest towards Xuanling Mountain. They came in a dense, unstoppable mass.

“Snakes
why are there so many snakes?”

They were sister snake clan!

Si Lan stood up abruptly, his eyebrows furrowing. He didn’t expect them to attack Xuanling Sect again. He had already warned that little sister snake to advise their people not to act recklessly. Why didn’t they listen?

“Quick, set up the barrier!”

However, before the cultivators could set up the barrier, a huge two-headed sister snake roared, raising its heads from the forest. Its massive, terrifying blood-red eyes almost darkened the sky as it stared fixedly at the people on Xuanling Mountain.

In the next instant, all the cultivators who met the gaze of those blood-red eyes fell into an illusion.

Si Lan had been affected before and quickly shouted, “Don’t look into the snake’s eyes!”

Quze and Xie Li immediately closed their eyes.

Unfortunately, most of the people were still ensnared in the illusion, and only a few remained clear-headed, albeit shocked by the scenes before them.

Si Lan immediately set up a barrier that enveloped the entire Xuanling Mountain, keeping the sister snakes out. However, the sister snakes, unable to break through, relentlessly slammed into the barrier as if they were willing to die.

The two-headed sister snake, which had used the illusion technique, retracted its blood-red eyes and turned its gaze toward Si Lan, testing the waters. It asked, “Are you Demon Lord Si Lan?”

“Yes,” Si Lan replied, his expression cold. “You’re no match for Xuanling Sect at all. Why attack recklessly?”

“The Snake Queen is running out of vitality. If we don’t act now, we’ll be beyond redemption.” Knowing this was a trap, they had no choice but to make their final stand.

“Where is the Snake Queen? I’ll help you save her.”

The two-headed sister snake fell silent, assessing Si Lan, as if pondering if he was worth trusting. Soon, it retrieved a pill from its pocket. “This pill can roughly indicate the direction of the Snake Queen.”

“Which direction?”

The TĂłu Pill emitted a green glow, floating in mid-air. The two-headed sister snake was about to speak when a vine that had been lurking on Xuanling Mountain suddenly shot countless tendrils toward it.

It dodged hastily but was still pierced by one tendril.

At the foot of the mountain, the root-like tendrils of the vine seemed like tentacles, breaking through the barrier and quickly advancing toward the little sister snakes. The sister snakes were not as lucky as the two-headed one and were caught. Their insides were crushed.

Brown snake blood gushed like a waterfall, staining Xuanling Mountain, and a pungent snake odor filled the air.

Si Lan drew his Xuan Heart Whip and, in an instant, appeared above the vine. He struck the main stem of the vine.

The vine, as if it had a soul, sensed Si Lan’s intentions and quickly extended several tendrils toward him. However, the tendrils were cut off by the Xuan Heart Whip before they could get close to Si Lan. They fell to the ground, and the tendrils on the ground continued wriggling toward Si Lan.

Si Lan cast a spell, turning the tendrils into ashes.

At this moment, the barrier surrounding Xuanling Mountain was suddenly broken by a sword qi. Si Lan looked up and saw Purple-robed Immortal Monarch, who held a long sword and stared coldly at everything happening at the foot of the mountain.

As the barrier shattered, the small sister snakes went mad, rushing toward Xuanling Mountain. Si Lan tried to stop them, but they seemed out of control. They climbed up the mountain like a frenzy, attacking the vine.

The vine was dense with branches and leaves, wrapping around the sister snakes, leaving only crimson blood flowing out.

Saturated with fresh blood, the vine grew even more vigorous, extending its roots in a way that resembled human veins.

“What on earth is this?” Si Lan asked.

“It’s sister snake bones.”

That familiar voice suddenly echoed in Si Lan’s consciousness again.

Si Lan suddenly understood. This vine was not a plant or a demon, but a spinal column. The person behind all this had painstakingly used the blood of the sister snake clan to nourish the vine, aiming to reconstruct a flesh and bone spinal column.

What a sinister method.

“Quick, order the sister snakes not to attack the vines,” Si Lan immediately conveyed to the two-headed sister snake.

The two-headed sister snake also realized the seriousness of the situation and immediately conveyed the message to the other sister snakes.

“Stop attacking Xuanling Mountain!”

The sister snakes stopped their attacks. However, the vine, now resembling a bloodthirsty monster, refused to relent and actively attacked the sister snakes.

The sister snakes tried to escape, but a massive purple barrier suddenly enveloped them, trapping them inside. In an instant, the sister snakes within the barrier seemed to be hit by a powerful force, emitting screams.

Si Lan and the two-headed sister snake, seeing this, immediately flew toward the vine, attempting to stop it.

At this moment, the vine extended a huge tendril toward the group

of cultivators who were still trapped in the illusion. Si Lan had to deal with the tendril, but he turned to Quze and said, “Quze, protect the others!”

“Yes,” Quze replied, drawing his sword and pulling Xie Li behind him.

Xie Li, with a pale face, stood dumbfounded, watching the scene before him. He had only come to the banquet, and yet, he was inexplicably dragged into a fight.

“Hiss
 Whoa
”

Inside the barrier, the sister snakes subjected to the formation attack burst one by one, and their blood gathered into a river, flowing toward the vine’s roots.

The two-headed sister snake, witnessing this, was filled with anger and desperately attempted to attack the barrier to rescue their people. However, their cultivation level was inadequate, and they were rebounded by the barrier, leaving them severely injured on the ground.

Si Lan didn’t have time to think about anything else. He gently shook the whip handle, transforming it into a longsword.

Holding the longsword, he struck the barrier, creating an opening. The sister snakes still clinging to life quickly crawled out of the crack.

But the vine ceased its attack on the sister snakes. It appeared sated, quickly retracting its tendrils.

Under the sunlight, the vine emitted a brown halo, akin to the spread of a bloodstain. The roots shook, causing clusters of petals to fall, revealing an intact network of roots. Or, more accurately, a complete, pale spinal column.

It was the spinal column of a snake.

At first glance, it resembled a centipede clinging to Xuanling Mountain.

The two-headed snake, lying on the ground, looked at the snake bones and seemed to recall something, and its face suddenly changed.

In the next moment, the snake bones coiled around Xuanling Mountain, shook violently with great force, and the sky spun while the ground trembled. Rocks tumbled from the mountaintop, and streams at the base of the valley reversed their flow. Birds in the forest screeched as if the world was about to shatter, and it felt like the onset of an apocalyptic scenario.

A strange screeching sound echoed over Xuanling Mountain, and the people trapped in the illusion suddenly trembled, their bodies in pain, blood oozing from their seven orifices.

“Double-Head, quickly release them from the illusion,” Si Lan said, trying to shield the people inside the illusion from the falling rocks and the haunting sounds.

However, the two-headed sister snake coldly stated, “The lives and deaths of humans are of no concern to me. Our purpose here is to rescue the Snake Queen.”

Hearing this, Si Lan didn’t hold back any longer. His longsword instantly transformed into a whip that coiled around the two-headed sister snake’s neck, choking it, causing the sister snake’s face to distort and its eye sockets to bulge.

“Don’t make me say it a second time,” Si Lan warned with a stern gaze.

The two-headed sister snake displayed a hint of fear on its face. Reluctantly, it took out a horn and blew it gently, instantly releasing the illusion.

Chapter 13 – Suicide to redeem love debt

Chapter 13

Since that day, Lou Yu announced his seclusion for meditation and no longer received guests.

Si Lan didn’t know what kind of emotions Lou Yu had after realizing the misunderstanding with the Moth King. Lou Yu was always one to keep a straight face, and you couldn’t tell anything unusual from his appearance.

But he vaguely felt that Lou Yu’s aura had lowered significantly.

Lou Yu sat on the jade stone by the hidden stream, closed his eyes, and immersed himself in his cultivation. Days passed while he remained motionless, deeply focused, but perhaps a bit too focused.

Si Lan noticed that as Lou Yu continued his meditation, his complexion worsened, and his spiritual energy became unstable. Faint traces of demonic energy flickered in his forehead. Si Lan suspected that Lou Yu’s spiritual core was tainted by a malevolent force. If he continued this way, it could ruin his cultivation.

“Lou Yu
”

Si Lan shouted, but he couldn’t change the past that had already occurred.

Suddenly, Lou Yu coughed up blood, his face turned deathly pale, and the malevolent energy invaded his spiritual core, causing his inner energy to go haywire.

He had broken the rules of his emotionless cultivation practice – the heartless Dao.

His previous cultivation was now backfiring, as if a wild beast was rampaging through his internal organs, meridians, and vital energy pathways. It sought to tear his flesh apart. If he didn’t regain control soon, he would fall into demonic cultivation.

“Lou Yu
”

Si Lan’s heart leaped into his throat. After the heartless Dao was shattered, if he couldn’t regain control of his inner energy, he would fall into demonic cultivation, leading to a reversal of blood and energy flow. In severe cases, it could even lead to death.

Though he knew Lou Yu couldn’t hear or see him, Si Lan continued to chant incantations and guide Lou Yu in his cultivation.

Lou Yu slowly wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and rose from the ground. He resumed his meditation, his eyes closed.

After some time, the chaotic energy around him gradually subsided, and a hint of color returned to his pale face.

Si Lan sighed with relief. He initially thought that Lou Yu had not been moved, but now he realized that Lou Yu had been enduring his feelings. Centuries of cultivation had nearly been lost.

“More devoted than me,” Si Lan suddenly mused, with a touch of self-deprecation. “I lost three wives and was just heartbroken for a few hundred years. My cultivation is still intact.”

The little white dragon in his arms perked up and cast a cold, indifferent glance at Si Lan.

Si Lan suddenly realized what he had said and chuckled awkwardly, explaining, “Although I married three wives, I only met them once, and I never touched them.”

After saying that, Si Lan couldn’t help but mutter to himself in his heart that he was explaining things to a little white dragon who probably had no idea what a wife was.

After finishing his meditation, Lou Yu’s face was as white as paper. He appeared like a lifeless body, devoid of expression, as he left the Xuan Ling Sect.

Si Lan had no idea where he was heading, but in his current state, he would be vulnerable on the road. Even ordinary cultivators could pose a threat to him.

Si Lan followed closely behind Lou Yu and watched as he arrived at the Sacred Demon Valley.

The raging fire had burned for three full days before finally subsiding. The demon valley now resembled a massive, sunken ruin, covered in nothing but dust.

Si Lan saw Lou Yu leap down to the valley floor.

Lou Yu lightly waved his sleeve, and the dust on the ground dispersed. In the corner, a purple barrier became visible, inside of which lay Zhong Mu, dressed in a red wedding gown.

A sword was impaled through Zhong Mu’s chest, and her eyes were gently closed. Her enchanting and glamorous face, now peaceful as a child, appeared like a breathtaking painting.

Lou Yu stepped gently into the barrier and touched Zhong Mu’s face.

At that time, when he thrust the sword into her, what was he thinking?

Did she hate him?

Did she resent him for not trusting her?

Did she blame him for not giving her a chance to explain?

Lou Yu stared fixedly at Zhong Mu’s face, and he slowly pulled the sword from her chest. He had heard the Moths’ words earlier, knowing that using the Cleansing Dragon Branch on the sword and stabbing it into their hearts would seal them.

However, when he pulled out the sword, Zhong Mu in his arms didn’t awaken. Instead, she gradually turned into dust and dissipated in the wind before his eyes.

His calm expression faltered as he reached out to grasp the dust, but his efforts were in vain.

“How could this be?”

He had thought that pulling out the sword would break the seal, and Zhong Mu would come back to life. But why did her body disintegrate like this?

Lou Yu was in despair, as if he were making his last struggle. He clung tightly to the head of the person in his arms.

“Don’t
”

Don’t disappear, don’t leave.

If you really hate him, you should work hard to survive, and you should seek revenge from him!

“Zhonggu
”

“Zhonggu
”

He shouted the name of the person in his arms over and over again, but unfortunately Zhong Mu’s body still disappeared, leaving not even a trace of him.

He hurriedly used the soul-searching bracelet to search for Zhongmu’s soul, but there was no trace of Zhongmu in the six realms and five elements.

How so?

The Dragon fruit juice inserted into Zhong Mu’s heart can obviously only seal Zhong Mu’s soul, but why is Zhong Mu’s soul now scattered?

No body, no soul.

Lou Yu couldn’t bear it for a moment and vomited blood. Then he picked up the sword in his hand and slashed around like crazy. Wherever the sword energy hit, bursts of dust were stirred up, and the entire Demon Valley was shrouded in ashes. .

Si Lan’s line of sight was also blocked, and he subconsciously called Lou Yu’s name.

“Lou Yu! Calm down!”

At this moment, Lou Yu’s qi and blood attacked his heart, his inner breath was disordered, and he vomited blood again.

He didn’t understand why Zhong Mu was so distraught?

He had no intention of killing Zhong Mu completely, he just wanted to seal him away forever.

“Zhong Mu
”

Lou Yu covered his heart and knelt on the ground.

It started to rain heavily, and the raindrops washed Lou Yu’s face, making it look even paler.

He suddenly remembered the tears that Zhong Mu shed at the last moment, and the wind blew across his eyes

He couldn’t help but stretched out his hand and touched his eyes.

It seemed that he had never even said a sincere word to Zhong Mu, but Zhong Mu had already left him forever.

Master once said that his life has been so smooth that he has never experienced regret, but once he experiences it, it will be unforgettable and heartbreaking.

For the first time in his life, he had doubts about his cultivation method.

Afterwards, the seeds of doubt destroyed the worldview he had built up over hundreds of years.

He obviously killed monsters and maintained order in the world, but why did he lose the person he loved most? Too painful to live?

The whole figure seemed to have been crushed into pieces and turned into mud.

I can no longer find a complete place.

Is this the fruit of the Great Dao’s cultivation method?

Si Lan wanted to comfort Lou Yu, but the hand he stretched out passed through Lou Yu’s body. He saw Lou Yu lying on the ground, curled up together in pain.

The heavy rain is still falling, and the whole world has become gloomy and gray.

Si Lan’s eyes were also red, thinking that if he could appear at Lou Yu’s side at that time and comfort Lou Yu, Lou Yu would not be so sad.

“Why?”

Lou Yu suddenly spoke, as if talking to himself out of thin air, but looking at him, he looked like he was having a conversation with someone.

Si Lan was shocked and followed Lou Yu’s line of sight, but saw nothing.

“Is it because he doesn’t eat raw meat that his cultivation is weakened and his soul is gone?”

Lou Yu stood up from the ground, lowered her eyelids, and blood-colored tears fell down drop by drop.

His Zhongguan has no reincarnation, no afterlife, and has disappeared from this world forever. He destroyed it with his own hands.

“I just want Zhong Mu now
”

He never knew what it felt like to love, he just felt that he must choose the most correct path. But this path made his life worse than death.

In the first half of his life, he promised Taoism, but in the second half of his life, he regretted it and only wanted Zhongmu.

He wanted to be selfish for once.

Si Lan didn’t know who Lou Yu was talking to. He looked around and saw no one at all. The Demon Valley at this moment is like a bloody mouth, full of weird and bizarre meanings.

Si Lan felt inexplicably horrified, as if there was a big hand invisibly controlling them. Just when he was suspicious, he saw Lou Yu in the heavy rain without any hesitation, directly drew his sword and killed himself, and blood sprayed out instantly.

“Lou Yu
”

The scene in the Demon Valley came to an abrupt end, and Si Lan and Xiao Bailong were instantly freed from the illusion of the Purification Curse. The fake building jade in front of him moved his eyelids slightly, and he was about to wake up.

Seeing this, Si Lan quickly probed into the opponent’s spirit, only to see that the spirit was completely deserted, with only a black evil controlling the body.

Since he couldn’t find any information from Jialouyu, he cast a spell to leave and returned to the banquet without anyone noticing.

But he couldn’t calm down at the moment. He held the wine glass to try to calm down, but the slightly trembling wine still betrayed his emotions.

Although he only experienced the Demon Valley incident from the perspective of a bystander, those scenes were flashing in his mind now. The Demon Valley was burned to the ground, the soul of the Moth King was destroyed, and Lou Yu committed suicide

Scene after scene, the information conveyed was so complicated that he had so many thoughts in his mind, but he had nowhere to say it. He unconsciously opened his mouth, revealing a hint of bitterness.

Everything in the world is determined by fate, and it is never up to anyone.

The last stage of Lou Yu’s tribulation period was the love tribulation. Lou Yu once thought that the love tribulation came from his junior sister Yun Lan, so he thought about killing demons outside to avoid the love tribulation. However, he never thought that at that time, the love tribulation was in the catastrophe. It started when he killed the demon.

Si Lan sighed, closed his eyes, and put his fingers between his eyebrows.

The last scene in the Purification Curse shows Lou Yu talking to an invisible person.

What did that person say that made Lou Yu willing to commit suicide?

Is he the same person who controls Lou Yu’s body now?

Si Lan was lost in thought when he suddenly heard a familiar voice.

“Your Majesty
 Your Majesty
”

It was Xie Li’s voice.

Si Lan suspected that he was hallucinating, so he turned around and saw a small dumpling in green robe breaking into the banquet and shouting loudly. The little dumpling looked left and right, and when he saw Si Lan, he ran towards Si Lan with excitement on his face.

“
” Si Lan.

It turned out to be Xie Li! After Xie Li died, Qu Ze followed suit.

Xie Li threw himself into Si Lan’s arms and murmured softly, “Oh, Your Majesty, I miss you.”

Thought Si Lan was fake, but craving a feast was real.

Xie Li was young and always eager to join in the fun. He used to tag along at various occasions like weddings and other worldly matters in the demon realm. However, this time, Si Lan had gone out for a feast without informing him. Once he found out the location, he immediately rushed over.

After all, there was nothing more important than feasting.

Si Lan could only helplessly massage his temples and then looked at Qu Ze, “How did you both get here?” Qu Ze was usually quite diligent, but this time, he had made a mistake and allowed Xie Li to come to such a dangerous place.

Qu Ze quickly bowed and admitted his mistake, “My Lord, I failed to watch over Xie Li properly. Please, punish me.”

At this point, Si Lan didn’t want to impose further punishment. He just sighed, rubbed his temples, and said, “Qu Ze, please take care of Xie Li.” Now that they were here, they probably couldn’t leave.

Fortunately, Qu Ze had a relatively high level of cultivation, and even with just one arm, his combat power in the demon realm was second only to the twelve peak lords. Si Lan felt relieved entrusting Xie Li to his care.

Qu Ze respectfully acknowledged the order.

“Uh, why is it all drinks? Where’s the food?” Xie Li grumbled, grabbing Si Lan’s belt with one hand, trying to climb into Si Lan’s lap. However, in the next moment, Xie Li’s consciousness suddenly heard a threatening voice.

“Stay away from him.”

Xie Li raised his head and saw a small white dragon with golden eyes glaring at him with anger.

“Or I’ll turn you into a pig’s head.”

The little white dragon squinted its eyes, but its mouth didn’t move; it only transmitted its voice directly to Xie Li’s ears.

Xie Li shivered, realizing that his true form was a beautiful brown jade, invisible to others. How did this little white dragon know? And he even threatened to turn him into a pig’s head!

Frightened, Xie Li quickly climbed down from Si Lan’s lap. With his heart pounding, he cast a fearful glance at the little white dragon and dared not demand food any longer.

The little white dragon, seeing Xie Li had yielded, retracted its head.

Clumsy and unruly, without any manners.

How did the Demon Lord educate his disciples, after all?

Chapter 12 – The Sea of Fire Swallows the Dragon

Chapter 12

Si Lan had no choice but to cast another barrier, separating their line of sight.

No impropriety was allowed.

Although he had vaguely guessed the outcome, he had not expected the process to be like this. He could tell that at this moment, Lou Yu did not love the Moth King, and everything he did was merely to kill the Moth King.

However, the more it was like this, the more worried he became. Because once Lou Yu’s heart was moved, even if it was just a little, for Lou Yu, it would be an irreversible hell.

Si Lan furrowed his brow deeply, worrying about Lou Yu in his heart.

The Little White Dragon looked up at Si Lan, flicking its dragon whiskers.

Everything in the illusion had already happened.

No matter how much he worried, it wouldn’t change anything.

After an unknown amount of time, Lou Yu’s voice came from outside, with a hint of hoarseness.

“Why is your foot injured?”

“Uh, it happened while walking.” Zhong Mu’s voice was as if it had been soaked in water, inexplicably carrying a soft, sticky tone. “I’m not used to walking.” But ever since he met Lou Yu, he had been walking on two legs like a human.

Lou Yu fell silent for a while and then asked, “Why do you like me?”

“I saw you in a dream a long time ago. I saw you standing under the Soaring Dragon Tree, wearing a red wedding gown. When I walked towards you, you suddenly turned and smiled at me. Your smile was beautiful. But when I hugged you, your figure disappeared with the wind.”

Zhong Mu spoke seriously, but Lou Yu didn’t believe this reason. He closed his eyes, concealing all of his emotions.

He couldn’t understand Zhong Mu’s affection.

Zhong Mu still clung to him closely, seeming a bit shy, burying his head deeply in his neck, mumbling, “Although I have taken on a male form after transforming, I can also treat you like a woman would, and I
”

Lou Yu’s cheeks inexplicably grew hot, interrupting Zhong Mu, “I’m a bit thirsty.”

He was a cultivator of the unfeeling path and didn’t like to talk about matters of romance. What happened just now was simply Zhong Mu helping him recover, similar to the cultivation practice of “dual cultivation” in the cultivation world.

The more Lou Yu thought about it, the hotter his cheeks became.

Zhong Mu immediately got out of bed to fetch water for Lou Yu and almost tripped due to his weak legs.

When he brought the water over, he saw that Lou Yu had fallen asleep again.

Zhong Mu set the water aside, propped his chin with one hand, and lay on the bed, quietly watching Lou Yu.

Si Lan couldn’t help but feel that his friend was acting like a scoundrel who ignored the other person once he was satisfied, as if nothing had happened.

He looked at the Moth King’s affectionate eyes, feeling extremely complicated. This Moth King was somewhat cruel in his innocence and naive in love.

Perhaps spending too much time in the dark Demon Valley, where he only saw soft, white moths, led to his infatuation with Lou Yu, a remarkable and elegant cultivator. He fell in love at first sight.

But he hadn’t thought about how pie could fall from the sky or how a handsome man could appear in the demon realm. All of this was just a trap.

Thinking of this,Si Lan looked at the little white dragon, which he had found unconscious in the desert. Wasn’t it also somewhat strange?

The little white dragon sensed his scrutinizing gaze and instinctively retracted its claws, looking wary.

Because of Lou Yu’s injury, the wedding had to be postponed.

Zhong Mu heard somewhere that in the human world, after a wedding ceremony was held, the husband would devote himself entirely to his wife. If they had children, their relationship would become even stronger. So he was eager to conclude the marriage with Lou Yu, wanting to firmly bind this human to him.

After half a month of recuperation, Lou Yu’s body had fully recovered. Zhong Mu couldn’t figure out the human customs, and Lou Yu was equally clueless. So he brought a few humans to Demon Valley and inquired about the ceremony.

However, those humans were terrified when they saw him and even attempted to attack him with knives. But he suppressed the urge to kill, remembering his promise to Lou Yu. After some coercion and temptation, he finally learned about the wedding ceremony.

Since both he and Lou Yu had no parents, they regarded the Soaring Dragon Tree as their father and mother.

On the day of the wedding, Zhong Mu wore a red wedding gown, the first time he had worn so many clothes in his life, and he felt a bit nervous and excited.

He walked up to Lou Yu and looked at him expectantly. Lou Yu’s gaze flickered, but he didn’t say anything.

Seeing this, Zhong Mu sighed. He probably wasn’t suited for human clothing.

The two of them stood in front of the Soaring Dragon Tree, paying their respects to heaven and earth, to their parents, and to each other.

Si Lan could see that on that night, the Moth King was very happy. He drank a lot of wine and didn’t even notice Lou Yu’s covert actions.

Si Lan, though not directly involved, felt a heavier heart than those directly affected. The festive red that filled Demon Valley seemed to be replaced by a sinister shade of red.

This relationship began with slaughter, bonded through slaughter, and ended with slaughter.

Zhong Mu, in a drunken stupor, leaned against Lou Yu.

Lou Yu placed him in front of the bed and, in the darkness, silently watched him.

Zhong Mu, with a half-smile, absentmindedly tugged at the corner of Lou Yu’s clothing, like a child, pressing his head against Lou Yu’s clothes.

“The groom in the dream will fade away, but in reality, I’m holding the groom. It seems that dreams are not always reliable.”

Zhong Mu finished speaking with a smile but didn’t hear Lou Yu’s response. He lifted his head and saw Lou Yu’s face shrouded in shadows, unclear.

In the next moment, a burst of firelight outside the window illuminated Lou Yu’s cold features.

Zhong Mu felt an inexplicable unease and before he could say anything, the moths outside suddenly screamed in agony.

The sea of fire silently approached, like a raging fire, spreading from the Soaring Dragon Tree, consuming Demon Valley along with its red lanterns and banners.

The Soaring Dragon Tree was a spiritual form created by the thoughts of past Moth Kings, weaving a powerful protective barrier around the entire Sacred Demon Valley. Now, the Soaring Dragon Tree was being devoured by the flames.

The barrier was broken, and numerous human cultivators arrived.

Zhong Mu finally realized that something was wrong, stumbled out, and saw that Demon Valley was engulfed in flames. The gory redness was unmistakable.

These human cultivators, who appeared from nowhere, wielded their swords like the wind and moved like phantoms.

The moths, weakened by not consuming meat and now without the protection of the Soaring Dragon Tree, were no match for the cultivators.

Demon Valley was filled with the desperate cries and screams of the moths.

“Your Highness, run.”

An injured servant rushed over, grabbing his arm, trying to take him away.

He pushed the servant aside, turned around, and saw Lou Yu approaching step by step.

“Why?”

“Zhong Mu, Xuan Zhi is just my pseudonym. My real name is Lou Yu.” Lou Yu’s voice was unfamiliar, cold and ominous, like a demon in hell.

Zhong Mu’s face turned pale, and he couldn’t help but stagger backward. In his ears, he heard the words Lou Yu had spoken to him when they first met.

“Do you know that Lou Yu, the Sect Master of the Xuanling Sect in the mortal world, has a mission to exterminate demons and monsters? The Water Monster of the Qing River and the Eagle Demon of the Enchanted Forest have already perished by his hand. The next might be you.”

So, this man was Lou Yu.

Zhong Mu seemed to find it hard to accept and asked, “Why?”

“As you said, it’s a world where the strong prey on the weak. You devour humans, and now, humans are exterminating demons.”

Zhong Mu burst into laughter at the phrase “the strong preying on the weak.”

Ridiculous!

Clearly, Lou Yu had deceived him!

Deceived him into preventing the moths from consuming meat and revealing the secret of the Soaring Dragon.

At this moment, a cultivator swung his sword toward Zhong Mu. The servant rushed forward to shield Zhong Mu from the attack but was torn in two by the sword’s force, yet he used his last breath to plead.

“Your Highness, run.”

Zhong Mu wanted to escape, but the cultivators were relentless, and he had to transform into his true form. His crimson wings instantly swept away numerous cultivators.

His only thought at this moment was not to disappoint his people; he needed to escape

However, when he soared out of the sea of fire and into the sky, Lou Yu was already holding a sword, waiting for him.

In the night sky, Lou Yu’s wedding gown fluttered in the wind, and his face remained unclear in the shadows. Only the sword was visible, gleaming with a chilling light.

Zhong Mu looked at the sword in Lou Yu’s hand, self-mockingly curling his lips. It seemed that Lou Yu had long found out how to kill him in secret. Coating the sword with the branch of the Soaring Dragon was an attempt to destroy his soul.

Zhong Mu clenched his teeth, his gaze fierce, and initiated an attack on Lou Yu. However, he had lost the protection of the Soaring Dragon and was no longer a match for Lou Yu. After just a few moves, he sustained several injuries.

He spread his wings, attempting to encircle Lou Yu, but Lou Yu seized the opportunity and drove the sword into his heart.

His eyes widened in an instant, intense pain spreading from his heart throughout his body.

“I originally
” Lou Yu approached him, and the two were very close, nose to nose. “Didn’t plan to kill you, but why did I discover that you were preying on humans?”

Preying on humans?

He hadn’t preyed on humans!

Suddenly, he remembered that he had captured humans and brought them to Demon Valley, but it was to ask them about human wedding customs

Could it be that Lou Yu had misunderstood him and thought he was preying on humans because of that?

He wanted to open his mouth to explain, but the longsword was deeply embedded in his heart, causing excruciating pain, making it impossible to speak.

As he fell rapidly, his body was frozen in place, and he gazed at Lou Yu, tears uncontrollably streaming down his face and crossing Lou Yu’s cheek.

It was unfortunate.

Unfortunately, Lou Yu had never loved him, never believed in him.

Unfortunately, he had poured out all his sincere feelings in vain.

—

At first, Si Lan was eager to kill the moths for their treatment of humans. However, when he saw the moths being burned alive by the fire, his mood became heavy once again.

From the moment of birth, life is not equal, but at the moment of death, it is. And in the journey from birth to death, if it can truly be summarized with the phrase “the strong prey on the weak,” then everything becomes simple.

He looked up at Lou Yu in the sky. As a spectator, he had a moment of belief that Lou Yu had fallen in love with Zhong Mu.

But at this moment, he had his doubts.

If it was true love, why could Lou Yu be so heartless?

Is it true that those who practice the Heartless Dao are truly without feelings and desires?

The scene continues, and after leaving the Sacred Demon Valley, Lou Yu returns to the Xuanling Sect.

Lou Yu, alone, successively exterminated three demons and monsters that had harmed humans, earning great fame in the cultivation world. Countless people came to the Xuanling Sect to meet him, including some of the humans who were once captured and taken to the Demon Valley by Zhong Mu.

“Master, thanks to you, we were rescued from the Demon Valley. However, that Moth King is really strange. He captured us but didn’t eat us; instead, he asked us some weird questions.”

Lou Yu, sitting in a high seat, supports his head with one hand. Upon hearing this, he raises his eyelids gently. “What questions?”

“Well, it’s about the human wedding ceremony. Every detail, he forced me to explain to him all night. It’s really funny. He’s a moth, yet he’s asking about these things.”

Lou Yu slowly relaxes his hand and sits on the high seat without uttering a word.

He recalls the words Zhong Mu once said to him, “I’ve heard that you humans have a wedding ceremony, and if a couple becomes husband and wife, the husband must forever protect and not betray the wife. I, too
”

At the time, he interrupted Zhong Mu because he didn’t want to hear that moth talking about love and romance

So, that unfinished “I, too” was a reference to his intention to marry him according to human customs?

Did he capture those mortals just to understand the purpose of a wedding ceremony?

Chapter 11 – The Immortal is trapped in love

Chapter 11

Luo Yuqing gazed back at him with deep eyes, “Xuan Zhi.”

Luo Yuqing, whose courtesy name was Xuan Zi.

So he didn’t exactly lie to him.

Zhong Mu suddenly smiled, “Xuan Zhi, it’s my first time walking this long as a human. My feet hurt a bit. Will you carry me?”

“
” Luo Yuqing.

“
” Si Lan.

Not only did this Moth King look like a child on the outside, but his behavior was also childlike. One moment he was complaining, and the next he was acting cute

But Luo Yuqing, the cold-faced demon, probably wouldn’t fall for this.

However, in the next instant, Si Lan saw Luo Yuqing bend down and pick up the Moth King. He widened his eyes, doubting if he had seen it correctly. Did Luo Yuqing actually carry someone like a princess?

In front of his beautiful junior sister, wasn’t Luo Yuqing always indifferent?

Zhong Mu’s arms naturally wrapped around Luo Yuqing’s neck, and his lips lightly touched Luo Yuqing’s neck, exhaling warmth.

Luo Yuqing, however, maintained a stoic expression, as if he hadn’t sensed Zhong Mu’s intentions.

Si Lan followed the two of them, watching the scene with mixed emotions. Unconsciously, he stroked his dragon horns and said, “The most unforgettable image for Luo Yuqing, how could it be these?”

The dragon’s horn was gripped, and his face was filled with anger.

An impolite Demon Lord.

Luo Yuqing’s most unforgettable memory was not these images but the person in this scene.

Luo Yuqing’s death was probably related to the current Moth King.

But if it remembered correctly, half a year ago, the Earth Immortal had reported this matter to it. The Moth King of the Holy Domain’s Demonic Valley was pierced through the heart by a cultivator’s sword, and his soul was destroyed.

All the other demonic creatures in the Holy Domain’s Demonic Valley were burned to ashes.

It didn’t mention what happened to the cultivator.

Inside the cocoon

Luo Yuqing placed Zhong Mu on a white jade platform, and Zhong Mu suddenly asked with curiosity, “Are you considered a strange person among humans?”

Luo Yuqing raised his eyelids and replied, “Why do you ask that?”

“Because you have no expression, unlike other humans who always have fear on their faces,” Zhong Mu reminisced.

“
” Luo Yuqing.

That was because when they saw you, their faces would naturally show fear.

“Have you not asked me
I want to hear you ask me
” Zhong Mu’s eyes sparkled with anticipation as he tilted his head and smiled.

Luo Yuqing hesitated about whether to kill Zhong Mu, but then he remembered what his Master had mentioned. Zhong Mu was not afraid of normal injuries.

Luo Yuqing put away the whip in his sleeve and slowly approached Zhong Mu. “Well, I ask you.” Reluctantly, he spoke with a husky and magnetic voice, which strangely sounded sexy to Zhong Mu’s ears.

Zhong Mu looked at him steadily. “If all humans were as good-looking and had such a pleasant voice as you, I wouldn’t be willing to eat them.”

“
” Luo Yuqing.

“By the way, do you have a wife?”

“No.”

“So
what kind of person do you like?” When Zhong Mu asked this question, there was a hint of nervousness in his tone.

He was hinting something to Luo Yuqing, not knowing if this handsome human could understand.

Luo Yuqing met Zhong Mu’s gaze and slowly replied, “No one.”

Zhong Mu’s disappointment inched onto his face, but he still reached out and embraced Luo Yuqing, resting his chin gently on Luo Yuqing’s shoulder.

Having no one might not be a bad thing.

“Will you stay in the Demonic Valley with me? Otherwise, I might have to give you to those moths outside to eat.”

Zhong Mu sounded like he was threatening Luo Yuqing, but also like he was casually speaking, his tone flat.

Luo Yuqing lowered his head and saw Zhong Mu’s long, thick eyelashes resting against his forehead, making Zhong Mu’s fair skin even whiter.

If Luo Yuqing hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he would have thought that the young man in his arms was just a delicate young noble, not the ruthless Moth King.

He hadn’t had a chance to reply when Zhong Mu, after his threat, fell asleep heavily in his arms.

Luo Yuqing looked at him, furrowing his brows in thought. He was probably wondering why the Moth King trusted him so much. Wasn’t he afraid of what Luo Yuqing might do while he slept?

Luo Yuqing’s hand hesitated in mid-air, unsure whether to hold him or push him away. Eventually, he let his hand drop and leaned back against the white jade platform, lost in thought.

Without his cultivation, he was starting to feel a bit tired and soon drifted off to sleep.

Si Lan, seeing that both of them were asleep, emerged from the corner and watched his slumbering friend with mixed feelings.

Luo Yuqing was now a cultivator in the Nascent Soul stage, and this physical body was just a vessel for him
So even if the body perished, Luo Yuqing wouldn’t die.

So, the only person who could kill Luo Yuqing would be someone with a higher level of cultivation than him. During this time, Si Lan had observed the Holy Domain’s Demonic Valley and found no such person.

As for the Six Realms, the Four Realms of humans, ghosts, spirits, and demons, there were hardly any individuals who could match Luo Yuqing. The relationship between the two higher realms, the gods and immortals, and the cultivation world was always close, so it was highly unlikely for a Nascent Soul stage cultivator to be killed inexplicably.

In the Demon Realm, Si Lan was revered, and he would never harm Luo Yuqing.

“So, who exactly killed you?”

Si Lan stared at Luo Yuqing’s face, muttering to himself. Just as he was completely puzzled, the scene in front of him changed once again.

Shortly after Luo Yuqing fell asleep, the Moth King got out of bed and went to another room.

The room was filled with a strong smell of blood, nauseating. After a while, there were sounds of bones breaking and chewing in the room, particularly clear in the dark night.

Si Lan vaguely understood what was happening but chose not to follow.

He covered the little white dragon’s ears, fearing that it might be a bad influence.

At that moment, Si Lan saw that Luo Yuqing had also awakened at some point. Luo Yuqing walked through him, following the sounds directly to the door. His face turned ashen as he grasped the doorknob, his fingers turning white.

Zhong Mu was sitting in a pool of blood, likely hearing Luo Yuqing’s footsteps approaching. He turned, facing Luo Yuqing, and suddenly smiled.

The smile was candid, innocent, yet eerie and seductive.

Luo Yuqing instinctively took a step back, a look of reluctance in his eyes.

Zhong Mu stood up and suddenly threw himself into Luo Yuqing’s arms.

“You’re awake.”

“Don’t touch me,” Luo Yuqing said coldly.

Zhong Mu’s body trembled, and he bit his lower lip, “You don’t like me eating
”

“Yes.”

Zhong Mu seemed childlike, sighed, and said, “Then I’ll become a vegetarian.”

Luo Yuqing heard this and coldly remarked, “Can moths even be vegetarian?”

“We can maintain a vegetarian diet, but it affects our bodies and cultivation. Eating meat regularly ensures our strength.”

Luo Yuqing lowered his eyelids, his expression inscrutable. “I don’t like you this way.”

Zhong Mu struggled with his thoughts, then raised his head, looking at Luo Yuqing pitifully. “How about I have meat every ten days? Would that be acceptable?”

“No.”

“But if I don’t eat this, I
”

Seeing Luo Yuqing’s unyielding expression, Zhong Mu sighed, “Alright, I won’t eat it. How about this, can you smile at me? No, from now on, you have to smile at me every day, okay?”

As he said this, his tone slightly flirtatious.

Luo Yuqing remained silent for a while and finally said, “Hmm.”

“Then you can start by smiling once
”

Luo Yuqing seemed somewhat hesitant and tried to smile, but he didn’t quite know how. So, he awkwardly stretched his lips into a smile, which made Zhong Mu burst into laughter.

“You smile like this
”

Zhong Mu tiptoed, reached out to lift the corners of Luo Yuqing’s eyes and lips, and said, “Both your eyes and mouth need to move together to make a real smile.”

Luo Yuqing tried to smile tentatively, his eyes deep, and a gentle smile on his face.

Zhong Mu stared at him blankly, then burst into laughter and buried his head in Luo Yuqing’s chest, holding him tightly.

But Zhong Mu didn’t see the fleeting grimace that crossed Luo Yuqing’s face.

In the following days in the illusion, Luo Yuqing was constantly looking for ways to get rid of Zhong Mu. He was secretly restoring his cultivation while trying to persuade Zhong Mu not to allow the moths to eat humans.

So, the entire Demonic Valley turned into a place of vegetarian moths, which led to their dissatisfaction.

Si Lan had an instinct that Luo Yuqing couldn’t stay in the Demonic Valley any longer, not out of fear for his life, but for his emotional well-being.

Luo Yuqing practiced a heart-based cultivation path, so even if he got married, had children, and led a normal life, it wouldn’t affect his cultivation. The only thing that could impact him was emotional attachment.

Si Lan was afraid that if Luo Yuqing kept calculating and planning, he might eventually calculate himself into a corner.

But Luo Yuqing showed no intention of leaving.

In the illusion, Zhong Mu was blissfully unaware of any impending danger. He was busy preparing for his upcoming wedding with Luo Yuqing.

Following human customs, he decorated the once dark Demonic Valley with red lanterns and banners, filling the entire valley with a festive atmosphere.

On the day before the wedding, a group of servants tried to capture Luo Yuqing with the intention of devouring him. They didn’t want to see the Moth King played with by a human.

When Zhong Mu found them, Luo Yuqing was already severely injured. His right arm had been bitten, and blood was flowing profusely.

Zhong Mu immediately transformed into his true form and rushed to save Luo Yuqing. He grabbed Luo Yuqing and used his wings to attack the servants, sending them flying. They lay on the ground, spitting blood.

The servants were not Zhong Mu’s match, and they lay injured on the ground. Still, they refused to give up and wanted to attack Luo Yuqing.

“King, even if you kill me, today, I will kill this human!”

“King, we will never allow you to be with a human!”

They all kneeled on the ground, willing to die in order to threaten Zhong Mu. Even if they couldn’t kill Luo Yuqing today, they would do it tomorrow. Even if they died, other servants would continue their mission.

Zhong Mu was infuriated and used his magic to transport them beneath the Soaring Dragon Tree.

Zhong Mu pointed to the enormous tree and threatened, “If you kill him, I will destroy the Soaring Dragon Tree. If you’re not afraid to die, then neither am I. We will die together.”

The servants were shocked by this threat, their faces full of disbelief.

Zhong Mu was willing to destroy the entire Demonic Valley for a human?

He’s gone mad!

Hearing this, Luo Yuqing raised his head and looked at the Soaring Dragon Tree, his eyes gleaming.

This strange tree seemed different from the rest of the Holy Domain’s Demonic Valley.

“King
”

The servants wanted to say something more, but at that moment, Luo Yuqing suddenly fainted from his severe injuries. Zhong Mu hastily caught him.

“Don’t say anything more. My mind is made up.”

Zhong Mu finished speaking and, carrying Luo Yuqing, vanished in the blink of an eye.

Luo Yuqing had suffered numerous injuries, with the most severe being the chunk of flesh torn from his right arm, causing blood to flow continuously.

Zhong Mu helped stop the bleeding and used magic to stabilize Luo Yuqing’s injuries. Likely because he had exerted too much inner energy to save Luo Yuqing, Zhong Mu’s face turned slightly pale as he leaned against Luo Yuqing’s chest.

When Luo Yuqing woke up from his unconscious state, he found himself looking into Zhong Mu’s unusually pale face. Zhong Mu was sleeping lightly, his breath falling gently on Luo Yuqing’s chest.

The area under his touch seemed to swell and throb.

Zhong Mu’s voice became softer as he asked, “How are you?”

Luo Yuqing nodded gently.

Zhong Mu raised his head, his gaze fixed on Luo Yuqing. They were close, just inches apart, their breaths mingling.

Zhong Mu suddenly tugged at the corner of his lips, closed his eyes, lowered his head, and kissed Luo Yuqing’s lips. Luo Yuqing didn’t push him away.

Countless white lights appeared out of thin air, forming a barrier around them, tightly enveloping the two of them.

Inside the barrier, there were sounds of love and pleasure.

Si Lan hadn’t expected to witness such a scene. He stood outside the barrier, feeling a bit awkward. Instinctively, he covered the little white dragon’s eyes, and then, recalling something, he also covered the dragon’s ears.

“No peeking, and no eavesdropping!” Si Lan warned the little white dragon.

The little white dragon remained silent.

Chapter 10 – The Demon King Loves the Immortal

Chapter 10

The moth spirit, upon hearing these words, awoke from his slumber. He lazily yawned, stretching and sitting up. He had no upper clothing on, and his snow-white skin was prominently exposed.

Si Lan instinctively averted his gaze, but his peripheral vision caught an unexpected glimpse of the spirit’s body. Upon realizing that the spirit was male, Si Lan maintained a stern expression and continued to observe.

This moth spirit had a subtly androgynous, beautiful appearance, making it difficult to distinguish their gender.

“Lift his face,” the moth spirit tilted his head and instructed. The attendants promptly raised Lou Yuqing’s face.

The moth spirit, with a lazy expression, examined Lou Yuqing’s face closely, and suddenly, a glint of fascination appeared in his eyes, as if he had discovered something amusing. He approached Lou Yuqing, closely studying his features.

“This human is quite handsome. I find it hard to devour him,” the moth spirit said languidly. “How could he have fallen into the Demon Valley and survived?”

The Demon Valley, located on the outskirts of the Holy Realm, was protected by an array. Ordinary humans who fell into it would have their internal organs turned to ash. Even practitioners would be left powerless, if not dead. Yet, this man who had fallen appeared only unconscious.

“Perhaps he miraculously survived, but living prey is more nourishing,” an attendant said, showing deference.

The moth spirit chuckled oddly, “Keep him here, and the rest of you may leave.”

“Yes.”

The moth spirit placed Lou Yuqing on the white jade platform, his own body partially resting against Lou Yuqing’s. His gaze seemed a mix of curiosity and obsession as he studied Lou Yuqing’s face.

Si Lan, witnessing this scene, furrowed his brow. He couldn’t fathom the moth spirit’s intentions. The spirit simply continued to gaze at Lou Yuqing for a while, and then, surprisingly, used a strand of hair to touch Lou Yuqing’s face
 and his throat.

The more you look into it, the more it seems to be explicit.

Si Lan was debating whether to look away when Lou Yuqing, lying on the white jade platform, suddenly opened his eyes.

“Cough
”

Lou Yuqing coughed unexpectedly and opened his eyes.

“You’re awake?” The moth spirit moved closer to Lou Yuqing. His soft body almost pressed against Lou Yuqing’s chest as he spoke. His black hair cascaded down gently on Lou Yuqing’s cheeks.

Lou Yuqing, confronted with the close proximity of this figure, seemed momentarily unable to react. His gaze slowly drifted downward, and when he saw the delicate, fair collarbones, his eyes abruptly shut, and he turned his head, his face turning crimson.

Si Lan, observing this, couldn’t help but smirk. He hadn’t recognized the moth spirit either, so it wasn’t entirely his fault.

At that moment, Si Lan noticed movement on his clothing. He lowered his gaze to see two small pink claws emerging from his collar, followed by two pink dragon horns and a pair of golden eyes.

Si Lan was surprised to find that Little White Dragon had also ventured into this illusion with him. It seemed to be curious about everything, even if it was a true dragon’s offspring, it couldn’t resist its inquisitive nature.

“Hahaha
Why is this human so adorable?” The moth spirit reached out to playfully rub Lou Yuqing’s blushing ears, as if he were handling an amusing toy.

Upon hearing the spirit’s voice, Lou Yuqing’s furrowed brows slightly relaxed, and he became aware that the spirit was male. He tried to use his magic to push the man away but found himself unable to use his powers.

It seemed that his cultivation had been sealed by the formation when he jumped into the Demon Valley from the Holy Realm.

Lou Yuqing’s expression grew somber as he opened his eyes, realizing he couldn’t employ his magic. He asked, “Where is this?”

“It’s the Demon Valley in the Holy Realm.”

The moth spirit tilted his head and inched closer to Lou Yuqing. The dark strands of his hair gently brushed against Lou Yuqing’s face as he spoke.

Lou Yuqing stared at the face right in front of him, appearing completely unresponsive at first. His gaze then dropped, and when he noticed the man’s exquisitely fair collarbones, he instantly closed his eyes, turned his head away, and blushed.

Si Lan watched the scene, amused by the fact that Lou Yuqing, like him, had initially mistaken the spirit for a woman.

However, Lou Yuqing’s expression changed when he noticed the delicate situation. He opened his eyes again and attempted to use magic to push away the man before him, only to realize that his powers were sealed. It appeared that his cultivation had been restricted when he descended into the Demon Valley.

Lou Yuqing’s gaze darkened, and he sat up on the white jade platform, distancing himself from the moth spirit. The spirit, undeterred, still sat close, even placing a hand on Lou Yuqing’s shoulder.

Lou Yuqing wanted to say something, but then he noticed the moth spirit’s massive wings behind him and refrained from speaking. The person before him, seemingly of ambiguous gender, was actually a monster!

The moth spirit saw Lou Yuqing scrutinizing his wings and, to show off, folded his wings against his chest, shaking them a few times for Lou Yuqing to see clearly.

“In our Holy Realm, the stronger your cultivation, the more beautiful your wings become.”

Lou Yuqing remained silent, his brow slightly furrowed. He instinctively went on guard against the moth spirit. He hadn’t forgotten his mission to enter the Demon Valley of the Holy Realm to kill the troublesome creature that caused havoc in the mortal realm, the Moth King.

At this point, Lou Yuqing was likely injured by the formation and saved by this moth spirit.

His top priority now was to find a way to recover his cultivation quickly.

“Do you like my wings?” The moth spirit fluttered his wings and leaned in closer to Lou Yuqing. Lou Yuqing, looking at the spirit’s striking red wings, furrowed his brow.

Seeing Lou Yuqing’s reaction, the moth spirit wasn’t offended. He laughed and leaned over Lou Yuqing’s shoulder, gently pressing his pale fingers against Lou Yuqing’s skin.

Lou Yuqing stiffened, and his gaze turned strange as he looked at the moth spirit. He wondered why this male moth spirit lacked a sense of propriety.

“I know that you humans don’t appreciate our form, but it’s alright; I can take on a human appearance as well
”

With that, the moth spirit was surrounded by a white mist, and his wings slowly disappeared within the mist, revealing an entirely human body.

This body was perfectly proportioned, with flawless fair skin, akin to a finely carved jade sculpture. Although also a man, Lou Yuqing’s face turned red immediately when he saw this transformation. He hurriedly turned his head.

“What is this? Please
 please put on some clothes.”

The moth spirit muttered, “You humans are so concerned about appearances.” Yet, he couldn’t help but chuckle, clearly enamored by this handsome human.

The moth spirit grabbed a thin veil from the edge of the white jade platform and dr4p3d it lightly over himself. He looked like a seductive enchantress, partially veiled, with every move radiating an irresistible charm.

He approached Lou Yuqing’s face, and Lou Yuqing immediately withdrew, maintaining a distance. Lou Yuqing seemed wary, but the spirit couldn’t resist teasing him. “You humans are so afraid of me
”

“Don’t worry, I won’t eat you.” The moth spirit circled around to the other side of Lou Yuqing, his eyes intense, but the expression in those eyes was even scarier than wanting to devour him.

Lou Yuqing, unsure of the moth spirit’s intentions, didn’t want to speculate on the thoughts of a mere moth spirit. Since the spirit didn’t seem hostile, he tentatively asked, “Since this is the Demon Valley in the Holy Realm, where is the Moth King?”

“I am the Moth King.”

Si Lan, hearing this, was mildly surprised. The young figure with snow-white skin, clean features, and androgynous looks was the Moth King?

Lou Yuqing, at this moment, appeared just as surprised as Si Lan, staring at the young man before him with a puzzled expression.

The young man’s long hair cascaded loosely down his back, with a strand of black hair resting on his chest. This, combined with the delicate figure underneath the white veil, created a mesmerizing and captivating sight.

Lou Yuqing averted his eyes, unable to reconcile the figure in front of him with the ruthless and ferocious Moth King he had learned about.

The Moth King was known for his brutality, delighting in devouring humans, especially when they were alive. Anyone who fell into the Demon Valley was usually consumed by the moths. As a result, the number of victims dropped, and the Moth King led his moths to actively capture humans.

The Moth King excelled in illusions and song, luring humans to their doom. In one of his most horrifying acts, he led the moths to devour an entire village of humans overnight.

Lou Yuqing’s master, responsible for investigating the bloodbath in the village, had instructed Lou Yuqing on his deathbed to slay the Green River Water Monster, the Lost Forest Eagle Demon, and the Moth King in the Holy Realm. Over the years, Lou Yuqing had managed to kill the Green River Water Monster and the Lost Forest Eagle Demon, leaving only the Holy Realm Moth King.

In the illusion, the Moth King smiled and introduced himself, “They all call me the Moth King, but you can call me Zhong Mu.”

Zhong Mu found that Lou Yuqing was silent all the time, so he came close to Lou Yuqing. The tip of his small nose was directly next to the tip of Lou Yuqing’s nose, and his slender eyelashes almost touched Lou Yuqing’s eyes when they blinked.

That charming and beautiful face gradually enlarged in Lou Yuqing’s pupils, like a blooming poppy flower, filled with toxins.

“Why are you not talking?”

Lou Yuqing calmed down and stepped back calmly, trying to avoid Zhong Mu. In the end, Zhong Mu directly grabbed Lou Yuqing’s lapel and suddenly pulled Lou Yuqing forward. Lou Yuqing was caught off guard and bumped into Zhong Mu’s face, the corner of mouths touched.

Si Lan saw this scene and quickly reached out to cover the little white dragon’s eyes.

This scene was not suitable for children.

“
” The little white dragon.

Lou Yuqing’s pupils dilated instantly and his limbs stiffened. Zhong Mu was like a greedy child, and he moved and kissed along the corners of Lou Yuqing’s lips little by little, as if he was tasting something delicious and new. His eyes didn’t look like a devil at all, but were clean and bright, as pure as a child’s, looking at Lou Yuqing intently.

“Well, it’s obviously not sweet
” But he still really wanted to touch him.

Zhong Mu felt his heart beating thumping, which was the impulse and possession of unknown love. His heat seemed to have come early
I didn’t expect that his first estrus would be for a weak and pitiful human being.

Zhong Mu still wanted to feel the touch of kissing, and was about to kiss Lou Yuqing again, but didn’t know that Lou Yuqing obtained a sharp piece of rattan.

Lou Yuqing held on to the cane tightly and was about to stab Zhong Mu in the neck when Zhong Mu was not paying attention.

At this time, a horn suddenly sounded outside.

Zhong Mu’s thoughts were interrupted instantly. He let go of Lou Yuqing’s clothes, looked out the door and murmured, “It seems that the results of this hunt was not too bad.”

With that said, Zhong Mu turned around and looked at Lou Yuqing, “Do you want to go see the trophies with me?”

Lou Yuqing wiped the corners of his mouth and hid the cane in his sleeves, his eyes dark and deep, “Yeah.”

Si Lan’s vision also changed with the two of them, and came outside.

In the dark valley bottom, a group of moths gathered together, holding weapons and cheering in celebration, and the cheers were mixed with the painful howls of humans.

Most of the “trophies” tied together by the rope net are dead, and the living ones are just hanging on and struggling to survive.

Blood covered the entire ground, and the smell of blood was everywhere. Even after living in the demon world for more than a thousand years, Si Lan couldn’t bear to look at it and turned away.

Zhong Mu sat on the high platform and looked down at the group of celebrating moths below. He leaned on his seat, supported his head with one hand, and listened casually to his subordinates’ report on the capture.

Lou Yuqing clenched her fingers tightly and moved the corners of her lips, “Those who are still alive, can you let them go?”

“Are you begging me?”

Zhong Mu tilted his head, opening his beautiful eyes like a child, looking at Lou Yuqing for a moment.

Lou Yuqing’s Adam’s apple bobbed, as if he wanted to say something, but he held it back, with a look of unhappiness on his face. If it weren’t for his total lack of cultivation, why would he bow his head like this? He had never been so aggrieved in his life.

“If I beg you, would you let those people go?”

Zhong Mu nodded.

Lou Yuqing closed his eyelids and was just about to ask for mercy when Zhong Mu snuggled softly onto Lou Yuqing’s shoulder and said, “Please beg me again when you go back. I think I only want to see you beg me in private.”

Lou Yuqing looked at Zhong Mu’s hand on his shoulder, his expression stiffened, but he didn’t avoid it.

Lou Yuqing is a practitioner of the ruthless way and cannot understand love. In his eyes, those joys, tears, infatuation, and lingering are meaningless expressions of emotion.

But he never thought that one day he would use this emotion to achieve some purpose.

Zhong Mu turned around and ordered the moths to release the humans who were still alive. After hearing this, the moths all showed expressions of surprise and dissatisfaction, and their eyes towards Lou Yuqing were filled with hatred.

“King, you must not be enarmoured by a human being.”

Si Lan saw the anxious look on the moth’s face when he spoke, and suddenly understood what the moth was feeling.

In the world of moths, moths fall in love with humans, which is probably the same as in the world of humans, humans fall in love with roast duck.

Very funny.

Si Lan exhaled and lowered his eyes to look at the little white dragon in his arms. He didn’t know if his pheasant was also food in the eyes of the little white dragon

Thinking of this, Si Lan shuddered.

Zhong Mu ignored the moths’ advice and made a gesture. The moths reluctantly retreated and let out the humans who were still alive. Then the carnival began, and they danced around the piled corpses, spreading their wings and shouting.

After the carnival, there is a gluttonous feast.

Lou Yuqing avoided his gaze and tried his best to hide his anger. Zhong Mu saw Lou Yuqing’s discomfort and took Lou Yuqing away.

Zhong Mu said casually as he walked, “After you humans catch the chickens, you pluck the feathers, chop them into pieces, stir-fry, braise, or deep-fry them. You can eat them however you want. You don’t think that’s remotely cruel at all.”

As a member of the chicken clan, Si Lan couldn’t help but nodded when he heard this, and then shook his head
It seemed to be the truth, but it seemed not to be the truth.

He saw Lou Yuqing’s expression condensed, and there was a faint feeling of disgust between his eyebrows.

Lou Yuqing said, “That’s different.”

“How could it be different? When you eat others, you say that the weak eat the strong. But when others eat you, you start talking about benevolence and morality, and even regard those races that harm you as evil people, and kill them all. It has risen to the level of doing justice for heaven, punishing evil and promoting good. But at this time, why don’t you say that the weak should eat the strong?”

Lou Yuqing’s voice was neither soft nor serious, “Humans are not necessarily weak. Do you know that Lou Yuqing, the master of the Xuanling Sect in the human world, his mission is to kill monsters. The Qinghe water monster and the confusing forest eagle monster have already died at his hands. The next one could be you.”

“Lou Yuqing?” Zhong Mu didn’t care, “No cultivator has ever been able to enter the Demon Valley unharmed. I’m not afraid of them.”

Lou Yuqing said nothing.

After walking a distance, Zhong Mu suddenly stopped in his tracks, turning to look at Luo Yuqing.

“By the way, I forgot to ask, what’s your name?”

Chapter 9 – Humanoid Moth Spirit

Chapter 9

Si Lan had noticed before that Little White Dragon could repair its internal energy on its own, so he didn’t take it to see a doctor. But he didn’t expect that the little thing’s internal energy had gone haywire again.

“Little one, hold on for now. After the wedding, I’ll take you to see a healer,” Si Lan said.

Little White Dragon blinked its eyes, which was its way of responding to Si Lan.

After a night’s rest, Si Lan’s mood had calmed down considerably. He pushed the door open and saw the Teng Ying plant crawling on the Xuanling Mountain, and he could now calm his mind.

The weather today was nice, with the golden sun high in the sky. Floating clouds gently moved above the mountain peak, obscuring beams of golden sunlight. The valley breeze brushed through the trees, causing the branches and leaves to sway gently.

Si Lan performed a spell, and countless brown feathers materialized in his palm. These feathers seemed to have a life of their own, floating in mid-air and flying around the Xuanling Mountain.

They were his little spies.

“No matter what happens today, make sure you stay in my arms. Don’t run off on your own,” Si Lan touched Little White Dragon’s head.

Little White Dragon looked up at Si Lan with a hint of seriousness in its expression.

What would this Demon Lord do today?

Xuyi, leading a group of disciples, arrived. Seeing Si Lan talking to Little White Dragon, he respectfully greeted, “Master Si Lan, the banquet is about to begin. I’ll escort you.”

The marriage ceremony in the cultivation world was quite elaborate, and Xuyi was worried that Si Lan might not understand, so he had come to find him.

“Thank you,” Si Lan nodded slightly.

Xuyi noticed that Si Lan’s eyes were a bit tired and couldn’t help but ask, “Master Si Lan, did you rest well last night?”

“Um, last night around midnight, I heard some insects outside the window, and I couldn’t sleep. Are there insects in Xuanling Mountain with teeth that look like
human teeth?” Si Lan coughed slightly as he spoke, seeming somewhat embarrassed.

Xuyi was stunned, “Insects with teeth that look like human teeth? I’ve never seen anything like that
”

Were there no such insects?

Si Lan unconsciously touched his neck. If it weren’t for the faint pain in his neck, he would have thought it was just his imagination.

If it wasn’t insects, could it be demons?

What kind of demon could bite him without him noticing?

He couldn’t help muttering to himself in his mind, but he didn’t notice that Little White Dragon in his arms buried its head even deeper.

This wedding in Xuanling Gate had attracted prominent figures from the cultivation world.

During the banquet, people gathered in small groups, chatting and mingling. Although they wore robes from different sects, they all exuded an otherworldly and elegant aura.

Si Lan glanced at the people, then withdrew his gaze and took a seat on the side.

As soon as he sat down, a cultivator leaned over and asked, “Brother, you look unfamiliar. May I ask which sect you belong to?”

Si Lan looked at the man’s attire, white inner robe with a blue silk Zen robe on the outside, exactly the same as Song Guang’s attire.

Probably due to his unfavorable impression of Song Guang, and by extension, his fellow disciples, Si Lan casually replied, “I’m an unaffiliated cultivator.”

As soon as he said this, the expressions of the nearby cultivators subtly changed.

In the cultivation world, a cultivator’s background was highly regarded, and it was believed that those from renowned sects and families had the potential to reach great heights. Therefore, unaffiliated cultivators were always seen as the lowest in the cultivation hierarchy.

In other words, unaffiliated cultivators were at the bottom of the food chain in the cultivation world.

The Nascent Soul stage cultivator who had initially thought that Si Lan was some hidden immortal now didn’t want to get too close after hearing that he was an unaffiliated cultivator. He gave a perfunctory smile and turned to continue his conversation with the people around him.

“Has anyone seen Brother Song Guang today? I went to his room this morning, and he wasn’t there. I thought he had already come,” someone said.

“Yeah, Song Guang usually loves to join in the fun
”

“Have any of you seen him today?”

“No.”

“I haven’t seen him either
”

Si Lan listened to the conversation of the people nearby and quietly played with the glass of lustrous wine in front of him.

If everything went as expected, they probably wouldn’t see Song Guang again.

Shaoqing, a Xuanling Gate disciple, carried a green jug and entered to serve the guests. The faint fragrance of the wine instantly filled the air, clear and enticing, impressing the cultivators.

“What kind of wine is this? It’s so fragrant
”

Si Lan glanced at the wine in the glass. It was clear and transparent, but the halo reflected on the glass was colorful and looked rather peculiar.

Just as he was about to pick up the glass to examine it closely, he suddenly heard the voices of the cultivators.

“Lord Lou is here!”

Si Lan raised his head and saw Lou Yuqing emerging from behind the bead curtains.

Lou Yuqing wore a brown jade crown on his head, and he was dressed in a red wedding robe, making his handsome features even more striking. He deliberately kept a distance from everyone and stood on the high platform at the banquet, addressing the crowd from afar, “Today’s ceremony is quite elaborate, and if there are any lapses in Xuanling Gate’s hospitality, please forgive us.”

The people below hurriedly responded with polite words, “Lord Lou, you’re too kind. The disciples of Xuanling Gate have taken excellent care of us.”

Lou Yuqing remained silent, maintaining a smile on his face. His gaze swept over the crowd, locking eyes with Si Lan across the space.

Si Lan smiled, and the fake Lou Yu, seeing this, nodded in return. Soon, he averted his gaze and addressed the crowd, “Everyone, the wine in the green jugs before you is called Xiangdan Nectar. It’s made from the hundred-year jade lotus of the Zunsheng Mountain. A single cup can add decades to your cultivation. Please enjoy it slowly.”

“Lord Lou, you are really too kind. How can you serve us immortal nectar when we are mere mortals?”

“Yeah, just a bit of wine is enough. After all, we have gathered here today mainly to celebrate Lord Lou’s return with his beloved. Whether we drink or not doesn’t matter.”

The cultivators, on the surface, continued to exchange polite words, but in their hearts, they were already excited upon learning that a single cup of wine could add decades to their cultivation.

One cup for ten years, two cups for twenty years
wouldn’t ten cups be a hundred years?

This kind of celestial nectar was offered by Xuanling Gate as a common wine, revealing that Xuanling Gate was truly a treasure trove that made people envious and a little covetous.

Lou Yuqing took a sip of wine, then excused himself and retreated. The disciples took over to serve the guests.

Si Lan’s gaze remained fixed on Lou Yuqing’s departing figure, and the hand holding the wine glass unconsciously tightened.

This fake Lou Yuqing was deliberately avoiding him, and it seemed that he also knew that approaching him would expose his true identity.

But now, Si Lan needed to find an opportunity to get close to him, so he could use the Purification Curse on Lou Yuqing’s body and see everything Lou Yuqing had experienced in the past year.

“Would you like to try the celestial nectar, sir?” The Nascent Soul stage cultivator, seeing Si Lan frowning in contemplation and showing no interest in the celestial nectar in front of him, leaned closer and asked.

Si Lan smiled and explained, “I’m afraid that if I drink too much, I might make a fool of myself.”

“Oh, that’s a shame.”

The Nascent Soul stage cultivator spoke without looking at Si Lan, but his gaze was fixed on the glass of lustrous wine in front of Si Lan. His eyes revealed unmistakable greed.

Si Lan pushed the glass toward him, and he quickly put on an appearance of gracious acceptance, saying, “How can I accept this?” But he didn’t refuse and drank the wine in one go.

Everyone was immersed in the celestial nectar, toasting and chatting.

Si Lan felt out of place and decided to leave. As he walked through the crowd, a cultivator accidentally bumped into him and hurriedly apologized.

Si Lan took a closer look at the young man. He appeared to be around sixteen or seventeen, with a wounded eyebrow, and a rather delicate appearance. However, the young man seemed reluctant to make eye contact and, after apologizing, intended to leave.

Suddenly, Si Lan detected a familiar scent on the young man—a hint of a snake’s odor

Si Lan grabbed the young man’s elbow with a sudden force.

Startled, the young man tried to break free, but Si Lan cast a spell and instantly transported the two of them to an empty corner.

“What
What are you doing?” The young man panicked and tried to push Si Lan’s arm away. When he spoke, his voice was distorted, and his words were barely intelligible.

“Are you trying to get yourself killed? How dare you come back to Xuanling Gate!” Si Lan stared coldly at him. The young man he held was the Little Enchanting Snake whose two poisonous fangs Si Lan had extracted earlier.

He had released it to carry a message back to the Enchanting Snake clan, but he didn’t expect it to return.

Yu Shi realized his cover was blown and swallowed nervously, “I’m not afraid to tell you, the Enchanting Snake clan is planning to go down with Lou Yuqing.”

From the last attack of the Enchanting Snake clan on Xuanling Gate, it appeared that they were annihilated even before they could approach Lou Yu. How could they talk about going down with him?

Si Lan couldn’t understand the Enchanting Snake clan’s suicide mission.

“How many of you have infiltrated here now?”

Yu Shi didn’t want to talk, but the two missing fangs in his mouth still caused him pain, and he had a lingering fear. “Including me, there are three of us. The others don’t have strong enough demon power; if they infiltrate, they will be discovered.”

“Are you planning another suicide attack, just like the previous one?”

“What suicide attack? This is faith, it’s fervor. Even if it means sacrificing the entire clan, we must rescue the Snake Mother.”

“But you don’t even know where the Snake Mother is now.”

“
” Yu Shi fell silent.

“I will find a way to rescue the Snake Mother. In the meantime, you should refrain from reckless actions.”

Yu Shi looked at Si Lan but didn’t say anything.

After their second attack on Xuanling Gate, the Snake Mother had stopped transmitting information through dreams. The elders said it was because she didn’t want them to die. However, through Teng Dan, they had sensed the Snake Mother’s aura growing weaker. It was feared that once today’s wedding was over, Lou Yuqing would use the Snake Mother’s blood to break the seal. So, if they wanted to rescue the Snake Mother, today was their last chance.

At this moment, several Xuanling Gate disciples approached from the distant corridor. Si Lan quickly waved his hand and created a barrier to conceal himself and Yu Shi.

After the departure of the others, reiterated, “The situation inside Xuanling Gate is not as simple as it seems. Your actions now are putting your lives at risk.”

Yu Zhi raised an eyebrow, not really trusting . He believed that  was no different from Lou Yuqing and, therefore, didn’t take his warning to heart.

gently touched Yu Zhi’s forehead, concealing his aura to prevent his limited cultivation from being instantly exposed when facing the fake Lou Yu.

However, Yu Zhi remained cautious. “What did you just do to me?”

“I placed a forbidden curse on you. If you don’t obey, your internal organs will explode.”

Yu Zhi stared at  with a mixture of fear and anger, and  couldn’t help but laugh. With a swift motion, he left the area.

“Treating a snake too harshly
 really too harsh
” Yu Zhi muttered through gritted teeth as he watched ‘s departure.

Through the scattered feathers placed in Xuanling Gate,  quickly located the fake Lou Yu. However, he was surrounded by disciples of Xuanling Gate.

he concealed himself, quietly slipping into the room and opening a window to observe the situation inside.

Inside the room, shadows played on the window frames, and the scent of sandalwood wafted from the stove.

Within a set of twelve folding screens, Lou Yuqing stood in front of a dressing table, speaking softly with Yun Lan. Yun Lan sat in front of a bronze mirror, motionless.

After a moment, Yun Lan suddenly stood up, reached out to touch Lou Yu’s face, her eyes filled with tenderness. Lou Yuqing embraced Yun Lan’s waist, and the two stood closely together, like celestial lovers.

His eyes revealed a surge of killing intent. This imposter, pretending to be Lou Yuqing and trying to claim Lou Yuqing’s junior sister, was unforgivable.

He had no intention of letting this imposter linger before him any longer.

After a few more words between the two inside the room, Lou Yuqing left. His disciples reported on the situation at the banquet as Lou Yuqing listened and walked away.

However, as he reached a corner of the courtyard, a streak of red light suddenly rushed toward him. Lou Yuqing instinctively tried to dodge, but in that instant, he found himself frozen in place.

A figure gradually materialized before him, a young man.

“Si
”

Before Lou Yuqing could finish his sentence,  had already used magic to enter Lou Yu’s consciousness and cast the Purification Curse.

The Purification Curse allowed one to see the most vivid memories from the past year of the deceased. It had been categorized as forbidden magic by the heavenly realms due to its frequent misuse in dark and twisted ways. However as a great demon lord, he feared no such restrictions.

As the caster of the curse, also found himself appearing in Lou Yu’s memories, witnessing everything that Lou Yuqing had experienced but unable to change the course of events.

He had expected to see the final moments before Lou Yu’s death in Lou Yu’s deepest memories, but what he discovered was different.

The scene that unfolded before his eyes was that of a lush, sprawling celestial tree, casting its shade and extending its massive roots like beastly claws into the ground. The ground was covered in layers of withered leaves emitting a foul odor.

Puzzled by this scene, he was about to move closer when a strong gust of wind blew, scattering the accumulated leaves and revealing a corner of a purple robe.

It was Lou Yuqing!

He watched as a group of creatures, humanoid in appearance but with wings of various colors, quickly gathered around.

They picked up the unconscious Lou Yuqing and headed toward a colossal chrysalis. This chrysalis, resembling a silkworm cocoon, was about six or seven stories tall, with layers of brown ridges on its surface. At the bottom was a door covered in white silken threads, and a few moth spirits carried Lou Yuqing inside.

He followed suit, entering the chrysalis and discovering an otherworldly space inside.

Countless fireflies clung to the inner walls, their bioluminescence illuminating the surroundings.

In the center stood a massive white jade platform, and on the platform lay a pure white
 moth spirit.

The moth spirit had beautiful crimson wings that covered most of its body, leaving only its black hair and a clean, white neck exposed.

“King, this is the new intruder. Please enjoy,” a voice said.

Chapter 8 – Immortal becomes a puppet

Chapter 8

It seemed like he had sensed what he was thinking. Slowly, Si Lan transformed his shape within the dark mist.

Si Lan intentionally cast a spell, allowing only Song Guang to see him. In Song Guang’s complex and shocked gaze, he calmly removed the seal on his forehead.

The ordinary cultivator’s seal couldn’t control him at all, and this decaying black mist was terrifying to mortals but meant very little to him, a demon lord who had lived for over a thousand years.

Previously, he had avoided the black mist out of fear that it might attract the attention of Lou Yu.

He didn’t want to stir up too much trouble.

Song Guang struggled, trying to crawl towards Si Lan. His eyes changed from shock to a plea, as if he wanted Si Lan to save him again. However, only cracking sounds were heard from his mouth, the sound of bones breaking.

Si Lan continued to watch him with an expressionless face. If Song Guang hadn’t betrayed him earlier, he might have considered saving him. But now, this man deserved his fate.

“So, it was you.”

Lou Yu’s figure slowly became clear in the pitch-black stone passage. His purple immortal robe was shrouded in black mist, flowing elegantly without any wind, and his gaze was stern and sharp, with a hint of a strange aura.

Upon hearing Lou Yu’s voice, a strange, despairing wail escaped from Song Guang’s throat. He stared fixedly in Si Lan’s direction and tried to crawl closer to him.

Seeing that Si Lan refused to lend a helping hand, Song Guang used his gaze to implore Lou Yu. There was someone else there, and he wanted to use them as a shield in his final moments.

Unfortunately, before he could reach Si Lan, his body was engulfed by the black mist. Initially, his limbs twitched, but they gradually fell still. After the mist dissipated, only a skeleton remained on the ground.

Lou Yuqing cast a cold gaze at the skeleton, which instantly turned to ashes. He then walked slowly, as if he had recalled Song Guang’s gaze just moments ago, and his eyes happened to look in Si Lan’s direction.

Si Lan’s heart leaped into his throat, and he involuntarily held his breath. He had used invisibility magic at the moment and was concealed above the tunnel’s ceiling. He wasn’t sure if Lou Yu, with his current cultivation level, could detect anything.

Fortunately, Lou Yuqing furrowed his brow, concentrated for a moment, but didn’t notice anything unusual. He then proceeded towards the round platform with the mist spirit.

Si Lan, however, fell into silence. He gazed at Lou Yu’s departing figure, his brows furrowed.

The little white dragon in his arms, seeing Lou Yuqing leave, couldn’t help but tug at Si Lan’s collar, urging him to leave quickly.

There were many traps in this tunnel, and they had already raised Lou Yu’s suspicions. If   Lou Yuqing managed to extract any information from the snake spirit, escaping would become difficult.

But at this moment, Si Lan seemed to have lost his spirit, staring blankly and motionless.

The little white dragon had to bite Si Lan’s chest to get his attention. Si Lan snapped out of it, his form turning into a streak of blue light as he left the secret passage.

Once back on the surface, the little white dragon gave Si Lan an annoyed look and flicked his two dragon whiskers.

A procrastinating demon lord.

He couldn’t even understand its hints.

If they were too slow, who knew what might happen.

It couldn’t help but look at Si Lan with a sense of frustration. After observing Si Lan’s expression carefully, it suddenly froze.

Si Lan’s face was frozen, his eyes vacant, and he mechanically moved forward like an emotionless puppet.

The little white dragon felt something was wrong and tugged at Si Lan’s collar.

Si Lan lowered his gaze and looked at the little white dragon, and it noticed a glimmer of moisture in his eyes.

Suddenly, he smiled, but there was no hint of joy in his eyes.

Why did Lou Yuqing, who had always been focused on cultivation, suddenly get married? Why did the compassionate Lou Yuqing turn into an executioner who showed no mercy? And why had Lou Yu, whom he had known for years, always avoided him?

He finally understood now.

It was because Lou Yuqing was dead.

When the fake Lou Yuqing walked up to him, Si Lan realized that Lou Yu’s core was corrupted, his soul had left his body, and his flesh had long been dead.

The current   Lou Yuqing was merely a puppet manipulated by dark magic. His internal organs had been hollowed out, and his scent was masked by a strange fragrance.

But Lou Yuqing was an Immortal at the Tribulation Crossing stage, and there were very few in the Six Realms who could easily take his life

How could he have died?

Si Lan couldn’t comprehend it.

The grayish-white moonlight spread like a vast, all-encompassing net, piercing through to Si Lan’s core. The bone-chilling cold seeped into his flesh and bones along the lattice, freezing his boiling blood. The intense sorrow felt like a sharp sword deeply embedded in his back.

He stood on the mountaintop, facing the chilly wind, his face pale, eyes bloodshot. He wanted to control himself, but his fingers trembled uncontrollably.

He didn’t know how long he had been standing there, but by the time dawn approached and the crescent moon hung high in the sky.

He remembered that he had first met Lou Yuqing at a similar time.

Back then, because of the failure of his third marriage, he was depressed and withdrawn, finding solace in a secluded cave and sleeping all day.

One day, while he was soundly asleep, the cave suddenly collapsed, burying him under a pile of rubble.

Angrily, he brushed aside the dirt and rubble to reveal his head. He saw a menacing black eagle with spread wings attacking a cultivator on the ground. Each step the eagle took shook the earth, and the cave he had been sleeping in was crushed by the eagle’s talon.

He generally avoided getting involved in matters of other realms, especially when it concerned the mortal realm. But today, this eagle demon had overstepped its bounds, and it was asking for trouble!

He lashed the eagle demon’s back with his whip, causing it to screech in pain. The sharp-beaked eagle suddenly turned towards him and launched an attack. Its enormous wings flapped, stirring up dust in the air.

He refused to be outdone, revealing his own massive phoenix wings, and with a single stroke, he made the old eagle disappear without a trace.

He slowly retracted his wings, transforming back into human form, and descended gracefully in front of the wounded cultivator.

The cultivator was covered in blood, his features barely discernible, and his purple robe was soaked in crimson. However, he still tightly held onto his longsword, even in his near-death state, maintaining a fighting stance.

Si Lan silently sighed in his heart, feeling it was a shame. If this man weren’t a cultivator, he would have taken him to the demon realm.

He took out a medicinal fruit from his storage bag and gave it to the wounded man to eat, then paid him no further attention.

Several days later, the eagle demon came for revenge, using human children as bait to lure Si Lan into a trap. Si Lan was on the verge of death when a purple aura came from the east, slicing through the trap.

He turned around and saw a cultivator in a purple robe and a jade belt descending from the sky.

The cultivator had a handsome face and a cold expression. Though he wasn’t a god, he exuded an aura similar to one.

Si Lan took a glance at the cultivator and deduced that he was the wounded cultivator from that night. So what Xu Yi had said about him being Lou Yu’s savior wasn’t entirely accurate, because   Lou Yuqing had also saved him.

Between the two of them, it didn’t matter who owed whom.

He knew that humans feared and despised the demon race, especially the vengeful cultivators. So, after he and Lou Yuqing had jointly defeated the eagle demon, he had prepared to fight Lou Yuqing again.

However, to his surprise, Lou Yuqing tossed him a spiritual fruit.

The fruit was from the hundred-year-old cypress tree on White Dragon Mountain, capable of extending one’s spiritual power by twenty years.

Si Lan looked at Lou Yuqing with confusion. Lou Yuqing calmly said, “Consider it a repayment for your fruit.”

As he turned to leave, Lou Yuqing added in a calm tone, “Thank you for that night.”

Si Lan held the fruit in his hand for a while, then smiled faintly.

This was the first time he had smiled since his third wife had passed away.

In the following years, whenever he encountered misbehaving demons in the mortal realm, he often crossed paths with this cultivator. They indirectly witnessed the cultivator’s transition from the Golden Core stage to the Tribulation Crossing stage.

Unknowingly, they had become friends.

Even though there were times when Si Lan and the cultivator didn’t see each other for years due to their seclusion in cultivation, their friendship remained strong.

But now,  Lou Yuqing  had suddenly died, in a gruesome and mysterious manner, without a word.

What was even more ironic was that he was supposed to attend Lou Yu’s wedding celebration tomorrow!

Thinking about this, Si Lan couldn’t help but clench his fists and stared fiercely at the massive and bizarre Teng Ying tree in front of him.

It looked like a wild beast, coiled on the Xuanling Mountain, showing off in the night wind. Its appearance seemed like a challenge to Si Lan, telling him that it was responsible for all of this, and he couldn’t escape it.

Si Lan couldn’t resist taking out his Xuanxin whip to discipline the creature, but as he lashed out at Teng Ying, his sleeve was suddenly grabbed.

He turned to see the little white dragon tugging at his clothes with both paws.

Though it didn’t say anything, its crimson eyes were filled with concern. Its two front paws clung to Si Lan’s sleeve, and it shook its head.

The enemy was hidden in the dark, while they were in the light. It wasn’t wise to startle the snake in the grass.

Si Lan’s lips moved, as if he wanted to say something to the little white dragon, but he felt a bitter lump in his throat and couldn’t speak.

He slowly closed his eyes, then opened them again. The raging flames in his eyes had dissipated, replaced by a calm demeanor.

He put away the Xuanxin whip, which coiled around his right arm like a vine, instantly transforming into an embroidery pattern on his clothing.

He embraced the little white dragon and whispered in its ear, taking a deep breath.

He needed to stay calm.

Right now, he had no idea how powerful the person behind all this was, and he didn’t know their intentions. Recklessly making a move now would only worsen the situation.

The cold wind blew, cooling his anger. After calming himself down, he returned to his chamber.

The enchanting snake he had captured yesterday still lay in the corner, looking weak.

Si Lan cast a spell to release the snake and heal its external injuries. “I saw your snake mother today. Go back and tell your people that she’s currently safe.”

With those words, he extinguished the oil lamp and went to sleep.

The snake hesitated for a moment and then, as if realizing something, quickly disappeared from the room.

In the darkness, Si Lan’s back gradually relaxed, as if it could ease some of the discomfort in his heart.

The little white dragon sat by the bed, coiled its tail, and watched silently.

At first, it didn’t know what had happened, but from his reaction, it began to guess what might be going on.

Poor Demon Lord.

His cultivator friend was now just a puppet supported by dark arts.

However, from that puppet, it had faintly sensed a familiar aura, suspecting that the person controlling the puppet was the same one who had disrupted its tribulation.

But why were they now targeting the friend of the Demon Lord? Was it ultimately to draw the attention to the Demon Lord?

Thinking about this, the little white dragon’s golden eyes grew solemn.

It didn’t take long for Si Lan to fall into a deep slumber, but he was awakened by eerie hissing sounds in his dream, with the overwhelming scent of blood filling his nostrils.

He opened his eyes and suddenly found himself in a dark dungeon, surrounded by invisible monsters that pressed against his skin. The intense smell of blood hung in the air, but he couldn’t see anything. All he could hear was the dripping of water, and rhythmic, echoing sounds in his ears.

A shiver ran down his spine, and he hastily turned around, only to see a massive serpent head materialize behind him.

The serpent head had a gaping maw, and it devoured him in one swift motion.

He jolted upright from his nightmare, fear in his eyes. Sweat drenched his hair, and a few strands stuck to his face.

It was just a bad dream.

Could it be that dealing with snakes these past few days had led to such strange nightmares?

He wiped the sweat from his face, took a deep breath, and sat in front of the bronze mirror. However, his mind couldn’t help but wander back to the recent series of events at the Xuanling Sect, making his head spin. He decided to pause for a moment, tidy up his hair, only to discover a row of bite marks on his neck.

These bite marks were in the same place as yesterday’s, but they were of different sizes.

He hadn’t realized that he had been so heartbroken last night, and even the spirits of this Xuanling Mountain didn’t forget to take a bite of him in the middle of the night.

They were truly pushing their luck.

Unable to contain his frustration, Si Lan tapped the table, and the vibration woke up the little white dragon in his bed. The dragon opened its eyes groggily and heard Si Lan’s angry muttering.

“If I find out who bit me, I will definitely squash that little bug.”

The little white dragon:

It curled its tail, feeling guilty. Last night, it had been afraid for his safety, so it had silently guarded him. But while guarding, it suddenly found him somewhat enticing and couldn’t resist taking a bite.

However, after sating its hunger, it forgot to destroy the “evidence.”

Could it be true, as Yugan said, that its smaller form has made it a bit less intelligent?

Si Lan cast a soul-binding array on himself. If the little critter came to suck his blood again tonight, the array would capture it. He wanted to see which audacious creature dared to sneakily drink his blood.

He had initially wanted to ask the little white dragon if it noticed anything strange last night. But when the dragon met his gaze, it immediately turned its head away and buried it under its body.

Thinking it didn’t want to talk to him, Si Lan didn’t press the matter.

Little did he know that the dragon was feeling guilty.

He reached out to touch the dragon’s spiritual void and realized that it was even less vibrant than it had been during their time at the Seven-Stringed Cave. How could it deteriorate while being taken care of?

“Little one, what have you been up to recently?”

Chapter 7 – The origin of the Snake Mother

Chapter 7

The Little White Dragon twiddled its whiskers and didn’t respond.

Si Lan hadn’t expected the Little White Dragon to answer, but its actions still made him chuckle.

Despite its young age, it had such a cold, aloof disposition. He figured that when it grew up, it would be quite a handful.

Si Lan lifted the Little White Dragon’s two horns and said, “As a dragon, you should be polite and not frown so easily.”

The Little White Dragon subconsciously extended its leg to kick Si Lan, but its limbs were too short, and it couldn’t reach him. Si Lan couldn’t help but smile, and his heart softened.

He decided to use a combination of encouragement and authority, so he took out a colorful feather from his storage pouch and handed it to the Little White Dragon. “Here, I only have three of these colorful feathers on me. This is one of them, very precious. I’m giving it to you as a gift. If you behave well, I’ll give you the other two.”

“
” The Little White Dragon.

A colorful feather

They say that when birds of courtship give a beautiful feather to each other, it’s a sign of affection.

So, is this bird implying something?

The Little White Dragon scowled, but the other person’s attitude was so firm that he simply stuffed the feather into its arms. It reluctantly hugged it with its tiny paws.

As soon as Si Lan couldn’t see, it promptly tossed the feather away.

Si Lan quickly tidied himself up a bit and carried the Little White Dragon with him to find Lou Yuqing at Song Qing Pavilion to inquire about the snake mother’s matter.

However, the disciples of Song Qing Pavilion informed Si Lan that Lou Yuqing was busy preparing for tomorrow’s wedding and had no time to see him.

Si Lan had a gut feeling that Lou Yuqing was deliberately avoiding him. Thinking back to the scene he saw of Lou Yuqing last night, most of Lou Yuqing’s face was hidden in the shadows, not very clear, but his aura was still unique and unmatched. He was definitely the real person.

He wondered what was bothering Lou Yuqing and why he was acting so strangely.

The giant plant, Thorned Orchid, which was sprawled on Xuanling Mountain, now glistened with red flowers under the sunlight, emitting a brilliant red glow.

These flowers looked even more vibrant than the ones that had bloomed yesterday.

Si Lan sniffed the air delicately, detecting not only the faint scent of flowers but also a lingering trace of a snake-like odor.

At this moment, Xu Yili and a group of disciples came over, carrying a cloud-patterned bronze tray with items for the bridal chamber. They gently covered them with red silk.

Upon seeing Si Lan, Xu Yili and the others immediately bowed, “Greetings to Master Si.”

Si Lan suddenly thought of a way to approach Xu Yili and asked if he could accompany him since he wasn’t familiar with Xuanling Mountain and was considering taking a stroll in the vicinity. Xu Yili was a warm-hearted person, so he readily agreed and handed over the items to the other disciples, leading Si Lan on a tour.

“Master Si, I’ve been at Xuanling Mountain for over ten years, and I’m extremely familiar with every plant and stone here. You’ve found the right person for guidance.”

Si Lan smiled, “That’s good.”

The two of them walked down a stone staircase, following the unique terrain of Xuanling Mountain. The area was abundant with lush trees and vibrant flora, with an unusually high presence of wildlife.

After walking for a while, Si Lan casually asked, “The last time I saw your Master, he was entirely focused on cultivation. I didn’t expect him to suddenly marry.”

Xu Yili scratched his head, “Perhaps Senior Lan of Yunlan touched Master’s heart after all
”

Si Lan knew about the relationship between Lou Yuqing and Yunlan. Yunlan’s father was Lou Yuqing’s master, the former head of Xuanling Mountain, and Yunlan and Lou Yuqing had grown up together. Yunlan had admired Lou Yuqing from a young age, but Lou Yuqing had shown no romantic interest in her.

When the former head of Xuanling Mountain was on his deathbed, he entrusted Yunlan to Lou Yuqing, hinting at a marriage promise, but Lou Yuqing only said he was born for the Dao and had no consideration for love.

The former head of the mountain breathed out his last before closing his eyes forever.

After taking the position of the new head, Lou Yuqing secluded himself for several decades to sever any romantic feelings Yunlan had for him.

Si Lan chuckled, “Has something happened recently that made your Master change his mind?”

Xu Yili suddenly glanced around, ensuring there were no eavesdroppers, before saying, “It’s probably because Master had an experience in the Sacred Domain Demon Valley. When he returned, his priorities had shifted.”

“?”

Si Lan was surprised and curious, and even the Little White Dragon poked its head out from his collar, listening to the gossip.

Xu Yi lowered his voice and said, “Well, in order to fulfill the wishes of our ancestors, our Master has been hunting down the three major demons that threaten humanity. The first two demons were relatively easy to deal with, but this third one, the Holy Domain Moth King, is causing some trouble.”

With a sigh, Xu Yi continued, “Ah, three months ago, after our Master jumped into the Moth Valley, he lost contact with the outside world. When he returned, it was as if he had changed completely. It didn’t take long for him to propose the idea of marrying Senior Brother Yun Lan.”

Si Lan had heard about the three major demons from Lou Yuqing before, but at that time, Lou Yuqing mentioned it in the context of overcoming the ordeal of love and avoiding Junior Sister Yun Lan, saying he had been hunting demons outside. What on earth happened in that demon valley to make Lou Yuqing give up his ruthless path?

Si Lan was perplexed and furrowed his brow. As they walked halfway up the mountain, a cluster of TĂ©ng YÄ«ng flowers danced in the wind and came towards them. Si Lan reached out to catch the vines and gazed at them, saying, “The TĂ©ng YÄ«ng flowers seem to be blooming more vigorously than yesterday.”

Xu Yi smiled and replied, “Yes, the flowers are getting better day by day. Maybe it’s because of the good Feng Shui of Xuanling Mountain.”

Si Lan neither confirmed nor denied this, but during their conversation, he discreetly checked for the presence of the Serpent Mother’s aura. Unfortunately, the entire Xuanling Mountain seemed to be saturated with the scent of the serpent clan, making it impossible for him to detect the Serpent Mother’s presence.

He could only continue walking while observing possible locations where the Serpent Mother might be held captive.

He remembered asking Xu Yi about the Charming Serpents last night, and Xu Yi seemed genuinely unaware of why they attacked the Xuanling Sect. So, he tentatively asked, “I’ve heard that Charming Serpents are usually led by a Serpent Mother. When they attacked Xuanling Gate last night, it seems we didn’t spot the Serpent Mother.”

Xu Yi looked bewildered and said, “Is that so? I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Serpent Mother.”

Si Lan observed Xu Yi’s expression and concluded that he genuinely didn’t know about the Serpent Mother’s captivity in the Xuanling Sect. This meant that the other disciples of the sect were probably also in the dark.

What was LĂłu YĂč, in secret, doing behind the entire Xuanling Sect’s back?

As they passed by several locations, Si Lan casually asked questions, but he found nothing unusual.

Dusk had quietly descended over Xuanling Mountain, enveloping the entire place in a faint twilight. Si Lan was growing anxious as he hadn’t discovered anything yet. However, just when he was in deep thought, the small white dragon in his arms suddenly emerged.

With its four tiny pink paws, it scuttled through the grass towards a waterfall up ahead.

The waterfall was located on the left side of Xuanling Mountain, cascading down from steep cliffs. The stream was very shallow, with layers of yellowish stones in the water. The setting sun’s rays shimmered on the surface, creating a beautiful display.

The small white dragon crouched by the stream, drinking water.

Si Lan suddenly remembered that he had been so focused on feeding the small white dragon Immortal Fruits these past few days that he had forgotten to give it water. He felt a bit guilty about it.

He bent down, intending to remind the small white dragon to drink slowly, but his gaze fell on the stones in the stream, and he suddenly froze.

At first glance, the pile of stones in the middle of the stream seemed no different from the ones on the side. However, upon closer inspection, he realized that these small stones were connected, forming a dense and orderly pattern. This seemed to be the entrance to a hidden passage, cleverly disguised as a stack of stones.

Si Lan remained composed. After the small white dragon had finished drinking, he picked it up and thought to himself that this little creature was quite resourceful, even in something as simple as drinking water. Bringing it to Xuanling Mountain had been a good idea.

Xu Yi, who had been cautious earlier, now felt more comfortable around Si Lan and asked, “Master Sì, what kind of snake can change color in your arms?”

“Oh, it’s a chameleon snake,” Si Lan made up a response, not revealing the true identity of the small white dragon to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Upon hearing “chameleon snake,” the small white dragon ground its teeth.

“Xu Yi, it’s getting late. You should go back and attend to your tasks. I’ll take a walk by myself.”

“Sure, Master Sì, if you need anything, just call me.”

“Alright.”

Red banners fluttered in the wind on Xuanling Mountain, and red lanterns lit up along the ridges, resembling a dragon of joy, creating a festive atmosphere across the entire mountain.

Tomorrow was the wedding day, and most of the preparations were complete. Many early arriving guests had also made their way to the mountain.

After wandering around the mountain for a while and confirming that no one was following him, Si Lan used a spell to conceal his presence and approached the waterfall. He ran his fingers along the stones in the middle of the stream, making sure it was a stone door, and then used magic to pry it open.

At the moment the stone door moved, the waterfall suddenly stopped, and the stream froze, creating an eerie scene, as if it had been subjected to a petrification spell.

Inside the stone door was a narrow, winding passage that extended into darkness, seemingly endless. Si Lan didn’t hesitate and jumped in.

As the stone door closed behind him, the world instantly became pitch black.

Faint sounds of dripping water could be heard from all around, creating a mysterious and somewhat eerie atmosphere in the otherwise silent space.

Si Lan conjured a small flame and flew it ahead to provide some illumination.

The stone passage was surrounded by huge rocks, and the dim light revealed a network of intricate patterns on the surface of these rocks, giving them an eerie appearance.

After walking for some time, he suddenly reached a fork in the road, with tunnels leading in all directions.

He was unsure which path to take when the small white dragon in his arms tugged at his collar and flew towards the left path.

In this left direction, there was a distinct scent of snakes, stronger than in the other three directions.

Si Lan quickly grabbed the small white dragon and said, “Little one, don’t wander around!” This place was strange, and caution was essential.

As expected, as he approached the next corner, an unfamiliar presence suddenly emerged, and a powerful strike of palm wind aimed for Si Lan’s head.

Si Lan moved aside just in time to dodge the attack and quickly circled behind the assailant, pinning him against the stone wall.

The assailant was an ordinary cultivator in the YuĂĄn YÄ«ng stage.

“Don’t kill me! Are you here for the treasure too?” the man hurriedly begged for mercy, turning his head with a fawning expression.

Si Lan scrutinized him. The man wore a white robe over a blue Taoist robe, had a thin build, and a crafty-looking face with sunken eyes, giving him a somewhat cunning appearance.

Si Lan released his grip, maintaining his composure, and replied, “Hmm.” Although he didn’t know what the man meant by “treasure,” he pretended to understand, ensuring that he didn’t make any mistakes.

“I’m a cultivator from the Tiān Jí Sect, Song Guang. May I ask, friend, what’s your name?” Song Guang inquired.

Si Lan spontaneously provided a false name, “Luo Ting.”

“Luo Fellow Daoist, it seems you’re a kind-hearted person. How about we team up to steal this treasure and cultivate together?” Song Guang proposed.

Si Lan felt the small white dragon in his arms shift and gently patted its back, trying to calm it. He responded, “Sure, SĂČng Fellow Daoist. May I ask how you learned about the treasure here?”

Song Guang lowered his voice and spoke in a secretive manner, “A few days ago, I infiltrated the Charming Serpent Clan while hunting demons. I overheard it accidentally from an elder of the Charming Serpents. It seems the Sect Leader Lou Yuqing achieved his current strength at a young age thanks to this treasure. Haha, the Xuanling Sect had been boasting about Lou Yuqing being a once-in-a-millennium genius, but he’s nothing more than an opportunist.”

Si Lan neither confirmed nor denied this information. As Song Guang continued to speak, it became clear that the Serpent Mother had sent a dream to the Charming Serpent elder, revealing that the Xuanling Sect had imprisoned her to access the Golden Orb Immortal Box.

This mysterious treasure was hidden within the Immortal Box, which had been safeguarded beneath Xuanling Mountain for centuries.

As they continued walking, Song Guang suddenly asked, “By the way, Luƍ Fellow Daoist, how did you know the treasure was here?”

Si Lan pointed ahead, changing the subject, “Look over there!”

Song Guang immediately turned around and saw a massive circular platform at the end of the stone passage. It resembled an ancient sacrificial altar, adorned with peculiar runes on all sides. Four chains descended from different directions, suspending a massive iron cage.

Inside the cage, a green serpent lay motionless. Runes were affixed above its head, rendering it motionless like a wooden sculpture.

Si Lan and Song Guang cast spells to levitate and observed the green serpent.

Song Guang exclaimed in surprise, “Could that be the Serpent Mother?”

Si Lan nodded. The serpent before them had an elliptical head, a thicker tail, vivid and colorful patterns on its body, and a brown gem adorning its forehead, all signifying its identity and status – a member of the Charming Serpent Clan, the Serpent Mother.

Si Lan gently waved his hand, causing the seal on the Serpent Mother’s forehead to instantly vanish.

In the next moment, the Serpent Mother slowly opened her eyelids, revealing two large black eyes, like pearls, which turned to focus on Si Lan and Song Guang.

Excited, Song Guang stepped forward and eagerly asked, “Serpent Mother, do you know where the Golden Orb Immortal Box is hidden?”

The Serpent Mother ignored Song Guang’s question, instead slowly rising, swaying her tail, and causing the cage to creak.

Looking down at Si Lan, she asked, “Who are you?”

“I’m Luo Ting,” Si Lan calmly told a lie.

“Are you working with that old Daoist?” she inquired.

Si Lan heard the term “old Daoist” being used to refer to Lou Yuqing for the first time. “No, that Lou
Old Daoist, why did he capture you?”

“He’s a madman! He caught me and deliberately lured my clan members to rescue me, intending to use their blood to nourish the TĂ©ng YÄ«ng flowers
I can’t let my clan members die trying to save me again
” The Serpent Mother suddenly became emotional, swaying her tail as if trying to break free from the cage.

However, her core was sealed, and the cage was covered in runes. As she struggled, silver beams of light fell from above, and she let out a howl of pain.

“Don’t move! Si Lan glanced at the runes on the cage and was contemplating how to free the Serpent Mother when Song Guang interrupted.

Song Guang impatiently approached, “Luƍ Fellow Daoist, the longer we stay here, the more dangerous it becomes. Our top priority is to find the Golden Orb Immortal Box.”

As he spoke, Song Guang greedily looked at the Serpent Mother.

The Serpent Mother gasped for breath, tears welling up in her eyes due to the pain. She said, “I don’t know where the Golden Orb Immortal Box is!”

“I distinctly heard your elders talking about it. Lou Yuqing captured you to unlock the seal of the Golden Orb Immortal Box,” Song Guang’s face grew darker, thinking the Serpent Mother was deceiving him. He suddenly grabbed the cage and asked, “So why couldn’t you possibly know where the Immortal Box is?”

Si Lan extended his hand to stop Song Guang’s action, but he was too late.

When Song Guang touched the cage, it triggered a mechanism. With a loud rumble, the cage plummeted rapidly, and the circular platform beneath their feet suddenly split open, absorbing the cage before seamlessly closing.

Strange sounds echoed from the walls of the cave. Black mist seeped out of the cracks, gradually coalescing into a terrifying face, resembling a faceless beast with a gaping mouth. It lunged at Si Lan and Song Guang.

“Run!”

The black mist was a Mist Demon, and it could rot the skin upon contact. More and more black mist emerged from the cave walls. Simultaneously, other mechanisms were triggered, sending countless silver arrow-like lights rushing toward the two.

Si Lan hurriedly chanted a spell, his figure transforming into a green radiance, as he swiftly left the circular platform.

However, Song Guang was accidentally hit in the shoulder by one of the arrows, and he let out a cry of pain, falling to the ground. Seeing this, Si Lan grabbed Song Guang’s clothes and pulled him away.

As the black mist advanced and the silver lights closed in, Song Guang couldn’t keep up. The tunnel ahead had a narrow path that could accommodate only one person at a time.

Si Lan directed the wounded man to go ahead while he created a protective barrier at the tunnel entrance. However, the black mist was fast, and it soon caught up.

Just as it was about to reach them, Song Guang suddenly placed a rune above Si Lan’s head, freezing Si Lan’s body in place, attempting to use him as a shield against the mist.

“Sorry, Luƍ Fellow Daoist. I’ll repay this life-saving favor in the next life,” Song Guang said with a grin. After saying this, he turned and tried to run away. However, just a few steps later, he suddenly let out a sharp cry of pain.

“Ah
 Ugh
”

In the darkness, the Supreme Immortal in purple robes and a jade belt appeared, holding a long sword and slowly advancing towards Song Guang against the light.

“You
 you
 you
”

As Song Guang saw the face of the approaching figure clearly, he was overcome with fear and despair, falling to the ground.

The black mist closed in from all sides, and a pair of hands emerged from the dense fog, gripping Song Guang’s throat. The skin that came into contact with the black mist quickly rotted away.

Song Guang struggled in agony, but he couldn’t break free. He desperately turned his neck, trying to seek help from behind. However, the figure of Si Lan, who had been fixed at the tunnel entrance, had suddenly disappeared.

Song Guang was left stunned and bewildered. What was happening? Where was Si Lan?

Chapter 6 – Devil's Food and Sex

Chapter 6

Si Lan was now determined to kill the serpent. In this wilderness, there were no beautiful maidens to be found.

Moreover
he glanced at the little white dragon beside him, wondering if it was just his imagination, but the dragon’s face seemed a bit grim at this moment.

To avoid leaving a bad impression on his future husband, Si Lan took out two wild fruits and coaxed the little white dragon to eat them on the side.

Then, Si Lan used magic to bind the seductive snake and threw it into a corner. The snake cursed with its leaky mouth, so he added another seal to keep it completely silent.

Afraid that he might do something inappropriate, he set up a barrier around himself, not allowing anyone to see what was happening inside and not permitting anyone to enter. Then, he sat cross-legged on the bed, working on purging the seductive poison.

Seductive poison wasn’t truly a poison in the conventional sense. It trapped people in an illusion, making them sink into a hallucinatory dream from which they couldn’t escape until their spirit was depleted and they perished.

Si Lan felt that this kind of death was a bit cruel, especially when it was to protect his non-existent pure reputation. So, he fervently recited a purification incantation in his heart.

As his body temperature gradually rose, tiny beads of sweat formed on his forehead. His senses seemed to be heightened by hundreds of times, making even the subtle movement of the air around him excruciatingly clear, tormenting his nerves.

As the sweat flowed more and more, he used magic to remove his green robe, wearing only a white inner garment. The sweat had already soaked through it, clinging tightly to his body.

Suddenly, his mind was filled with fleeting virtual illusions, but they disappeared as quickly as they came. After a few times, he began to relax slightly, thinking that he had overcome the poison’s influence. However, in the next moment, his thoughts were invaded by seductive illusions.

He saw three incredibly beautiful and seductive women, dressed provocatively and behaving in a flirtatious manner, captivating the soul.

His expression remained unchanged as he closed his long eyelashes. His hands quickly performed a secret technique, causing the three women to immediately vanish.

However, in the illusion, three handsome and well-built men appeared.

“
Si Lan.”

Did the illusion think he wasn’t interested in women, so it replaced them with three men?

He closed his eyes, intending to use the secret technique again, but he couldn’t lift his arm, as if an invisible force was restraining him, and his willpower was on the verge of giving in.

The three men got closer, and he had to lower his head and hold his breath while reciting the purification incantation more rapidly. Suddenly, a delicate touch brushed against his neck, making his heart skip a beat. He unconsciously opened his eyes and saw the exceptionally handsome men teasing and seducing him in an exaggerated manner.

He frowned, his expression stern, and with all his strength, he raised his arm and chanted, “Break!”

The three men instantly turned to dust and vanished.

He breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he had broken free from the illusion. However, the mist around him still obscured his vision. At this moment, another tall and handsome man in white appeared in the mist.

Will it ever end?

Si Lan was almost infuriated, glaring at the man with a sinister look.

As the mist dissipated, the man’s face was fully revealed.

Si Lan was slightly startled, and the hostility in his eyes was gradually replaced by amazement.

The man had a cold and haughty countenance, his gaze imperious, exuding an air of superiority, as if nothing in the world could affect him. He had a broad shoulder, a slim waist, and a tall and graceful figure. As he approached Si Lan, the mist around his feet dissipated, leaving a faint, elusive glow swirling around him, making him even more mysterious and alluring, like an unattainable god, tempting beyond reason.

Well, this one actually fits Si Lan’s aesthetic.

But at the thought that he would have to strike down this man with a palm, Si Lan couldn’t help but feel a pang of reluctance.

The man approached him, standing tall and looking down at Si Lan, his eyes inscrutable. Si Lan lifted his head to meet the man’s gaze, his ears involuntarily reddening, and he lowered his head in embarrassment.

The illusion was too real.

He couldn’t bear it.

He quietly clasped his hands, intending to cast a spell to scatter the other person, but he saw his slender right hand touching him. His heartbeat couldn’t help but accelerate, and he momentarily forgot to move his hand away.

The man’s hand fell on his cheek, and there was a warm touch on his fingertips.

At this moment, Si Lan seemed to be able to hear his own heartbeat, badump badump badump. Just when he was at a loss, the other party’s hands suddenly pressed down on several acupuncture points on his body. A warm and cool sensation immediately spread along the acupuncture points to all aspects of his body, slowly calming down the accumulated heat in his body.

He raised his head to see what the other person was doing, but the illusionary world in front of him suddenly intertwined with the real world. His consciousness was already on the verge of reaching its limit. After returning to the real world, he couldn’t hold on anymore and fainted backwards.

Fortunately, an arm caught him in time and he didn’t crash to the ground.

Haowei lowered his eyes and looked at the sleeping person in his arms. The white undershirt was soaked with sweat and stuck to his body, outlining his narrow waist and slender legs. A faint fragrance oozed from his sweat, a sort of fruity smell.

He frowned and avoided looking at him while he put one hand on Si Lan’s waist, and helped Si Lan go to bed to rest. However, when he touched Si Lan’s waist, he could really feel the slender lines and the damp sweat between his fingers.

Haowei froze for a moment and his breathing became disordered for a moment but he quickly adjusted himself and helped Si Lan to the bed.

Si Lan seemed to be murmuring in his sleep, with his full lips slightly open. Haowei’s eyes couldn’t help but fall on the two bright reds buds on his chest in front of him. His mind suddenly recalled the previous scene of Si Lan kissing his forehead, and his face quietly tightened.

This demon lord, despite being frivolous with him, actually wanted to form a contract with him.

You are so courageous.

Haowei narrowed his eyes, and when he turned his head, his eyes accidentally glanced at Si Lan’s lower half of his body. He was stunned, with shame and anger rising on his face.

How shameless.

Even after escaping the illusion

But soon, Haowei realized that this was the charm poison at work. Simply rescuing Si Lan from the illusion wasn’t enough; it was necessary to completely remove the residual poison from his body. Otherwise, the poisoned person would continue to experience these symptoms.

Haowei couldn’t help but sigh, feeling a bit disgusted. In the end, he extended his hand to cover Si Lan’s acupoints, using his cultivation to help detoxify him.

Haowei had nearly recovered, but this time, breaking into the illusion to save Si Lan and detoxify him once more weakened his internal energy. He might turn into a child again soon.

Thinking about this, Haowei’s fingers brushed Si Lan’s neck, and his gaze darkened.

So, now that he’s just taking a bit of his blood to replenish his body, it shouldn’t be too much to ask. After all, he has lost so much cultivation to save him.

Haowei slowly leaned down, suddenly biting into Si Lan’s neck.

The opponent’s vulnerable major artery is right in front of him, with veins visible beneath the white skin. Above his line of sight are the slightly red corners of the lips and the tip of the nose.

Haowei’s brow moved inexplicably, and he suddenly realized what fruit Si Lan resembled, like a ripe peach just plucked from the water.

Clear in color, shining brightly.

Si Lan, in pain from his dreams, emitted a faint moan and instinctively grasped the person’s clothes in front of him, as if struggling for breath, making his breathing rapid.

Soon, intermittent sounds came from between their lips, faint as a mosquito’s, leading to all sorts of wild thoughts.

In no time, Haowei blushed and lifted his head.

Shameless demon lord.

He’s just drinking his blood; what’s with all the moaning

In a corner, the charming snake witnessed the entire process, dumbfounded.

It had originally thought that the “Little White Snake” by Si Lan’s side, just like itself, was a normal snake demon. It never imagined that this “Little White Snake” could not only take on human form but also effortlessly remove charm poison.

Charm poison is no ordinary toxin; even if a heavenly immortal were to be afflicted, they would have to endure it. So, who exactly is this Little White Snake?

The charming snake’s eyes revealed fear. At this moment, from its perspective, it suddenly saw Haowei leaning down, his ear close to Si Lan’s, and they seemed to be intimately entangled.

Afterward, strange sounds came from behind the bed curtains.

“
”

The charming snake felt like its worldview had collapsed. What
What were these two people doing on the bed?

Why were they making moaning sounds?

At this point, Haowei seemed to be turning, and the charming snake, in fear, quickly closed its eyes, pretending to be dead.

After a rustling noise, there were no more strange sounds from the bed.

It was a long time before the charming snake dared to cautiously open its eyes and look toward the bedside.

Inside the room, two sets of even breathing intersected. At the bedside, the Little White Snake curled up and slept soundly.

—

Si Lan had slept heavily, and when he woke up, he felt disoriented. His body ached all over, as if it had been crushed by a heavy stone.

He sat up from the bed, his head momentarily fuzzy. Then, memories of the scenes from the illusion last night flooded back to him, culminating in the image of the beautiful man reaching out to touch his face

“
”

A faint blush crept onto Si Lan’s face as he was lost in thought. However, at that moment, he felt a strange pain in his neck. He went to a bronze mirror and saw a row of bluish-purple bite marks on his neck.

He blinked, then confirmed it several times. Indeed, it was a row of bite marks!

Moreover, from the shape of these bite marks, it was clear that the other person had good teeth!

“
”

Who on earth had bitten him for no apparent reason?

Was it the man in white who had held his head? But wasn’t the man in white just an illusion?

Si Lan furrowed his brow, looking around the room. He saw the Little White Dragon lying on the bed, sleeping, and the charming snake in a daze in the corner. Everything appeared normal, with no trace of the man in white.

He had set up an array around him last night. If someone had actually broken into the array to save him, their abilities must have surpassed his own.

But there was no one like that on Xuanling Mountain

He rubbed the bite marks on his neck, creating a large red area that made his skin look like it had been roughly sucked by someone.

Realizing this, he quickly stopped.

He figured that after breaking out of the illusion last night, he was utterly exhausted and forgot to close the bed curtain, so he might have been bitten by some creature with a mouth somewhat human-like.

The reason he didn’t suspect the Little White Dragon was because the bite marks looked like they were made by an adult man, which didn’t match the small, sharp teeth of the Little White Dragon. Moreover, given the Little White Dragon’s cultivation, it wouldn’t have been able to break into the illusion to save him.

When the Little White Dragon opened its eyes, it saw Si Lan trying to rub the bite marks away with his hand, and its gaze shifted away.

It had exerted a bit too much force last night, which is why the bite marks were somewhat deep.

“This is really strange,” Si Lan shook his head.

Fortunately, there were no marks on other parts of his body; otherwise, he would have suspected that the creature might have been a lascivious disciple.

Seeing the Little White Dragon awake on the bed, he approached and smiled affectionately, gently poking the dragon’s belly.

The Little White Dragon immediately curled its tail and glared at him.

An impolite demon lord.

How could he casually touch such a private part like his belly

Si Lan asked with a smile, “Little one, did you see anything strange last night?”

Chapter 5 – The Poison Creates Illusions

Chapter 5

“Congratulations, Your Excellency, for bringing the beautiful bride!”

“Hurry, hurry, escort Your Excellency to the bridal chamber. A moment of spring night is worth a thousand gold!”

Si Lan stood in front of the brightly lit palace door, momentarily dazed before being pushed into the room by the demon soldiers.

He lowered his head and saw himself wearing a bright red wedding gown. The doors and windows were covered with the character for “happiness,” and the table was adorned with red dates, peanuts, and longans.

Something flashed through his mind, but he couldn’t grasp it.

Why was he here?

And why was he getting married?

He had no memory at all.

He walked forward slowly, peering through the vermilion curtain, and saw the bride, dressed in phoenix coronet and rosy robes, sitting on the bed. The inner chamber was dimly lit, with the fragrance of spring lingering in the air, and an alluring charm in the atmosphere.

Hesitating for a moment, he lifted the beaded curtain and approached slowly. “Lan Lan?”

There was no response from the person on the bed. As he got closer, he realized that the bride’s figure was unusually tall, more like a man.

He tentatively lifted the bride’s veil, but her face was veiled in a mist, concealing her beauty. He only faintly sensed a trace of an unfamiliar scent emanating from her.

At this moment, the bride suddenly stood up and, with an unusual tone, as if intentionally strangling her voice, asked, “Husband, am I beautiful?”

“Yes, yes. You’re indeed beautiful
”

“Then, husband, won’t you give your wife a kiss?”

Si Lan looked at the bride who was taller and broader than him, staying silent.

Was this bride Lan Lan’s reincarnation or someone else?

He had found Lan Lan’s fourth reincarnation once, but the fourth reincarnation retained memories from the previous three lifetimes. As soon as she saw him, her attitude changed dramatically, and she wouldn’t allow him to get close.

Lan Lan said that she would never be enchanted by him again in this lifetime. She already had a loving husband, and he should let go of his hopes.

The husband mentioned by Lan Lan was her first-life husband who had passed away early.

He was an honest and loving man who cared deeply for Lan Lan.

Later, when the two of them got married, Si Lan had also sent gifts. So, the bride in front of him wasn’t Lan Lan. Who could she be?

Si Lan racked his brain but couldn’t figure out who he was marrying this time.

“Husband, do you despise me? Why won’t you kiss me?” The bride’s tone was full of bitterness.

Si Lan heard the forlorn voice and quickly smiled apologetically. Out of courtesy, he tiptoed and leaned in to kiss the bride. However, he had no idea where the bride’s mouth was.

Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his tiger’s mouth. He stopped the kiss and saw two small bloodstains in his hand.

Just as he was about to inspect it, the bride became impatient, reached out, and hugged his waist, lifting him onto her.

Si Lan: “
”

“Husband
”

The bride was impatient, bringing her veiled face close to Si Lan.

Si Lan frowned, looking conflicted, and instinctively leaned backward, feeling an inexplicable aversion to the kiss.

A bright red, agile tongue suddenly extended from the bride’s mouth, heading towards Si Lan’s cheek. But as it was about to touch him, a sharp pain surged from the flesh between his thumb and index finger.

In pain, he raised his hand and, “accidentally,” slapped the bride.

In an instant, the surroundings shattered, and the red bridal chamber turned into a room on Xuanling Mountain. The bride in front of him transformed into a gigantic mouth.

A massive black snake held him, its mouth gaping, fangs menacing, and the snake hissed loudly.

Si Lan’s face twisted in fear. It turned out that this beautiful lady was a giant snake!

As the gaping mouth lunged towards him, Si Lan quickly drew his Xuanxin whip and struck the snake’s fangs. The snake screamed in pain and tightened its body, attempting to strangle him.

He immediately recited an exorcism spell, and the whip handle emitted a blue light, piercing the snake’s neck.

The snake instantly loosened its grip, falling to the ground, writhing in pain. In a moment, the snake’s body rapidly shrank, becoming a tiny serpent about two inches long, lying motionless on the ground.

Si Lan thought it was dead and approached, but the tiny snake suddenly leaped towards his eyes.

He blocked it with his hand, and the snake bit his elbow, injecting venom into him.

He quickly used magic to stop the venom’s spread and then grabbed the snake’s neck, reaching into its mouth and pulled out its two long fangs.

Blood sprayed out instantly, accompanied by the snake’s cries of pain.

Watching this, the little white dragon, who had been observing, instinctively clenched its two fangs in its mouth.

“Who sent you?” Si Lan squeezed the snake’s throat.

This little snake could use its eyes to cast enchanting illusions, indicating it was from the snake-charming clan. It was quite skilled, having reached the level of speaking.

Unfortunately, it was uncooperative and refused to speak.

Si Lan slapped it again, sending it flying against the wall.

It spat out blood, trembled a few times, and lay motionless on the ground. This time, it had genuinely fainted.

Outside the room, there was a piercing, ear-splitting scream that echoed through the sky, like a magical curse, making one’s heart race.

Si Lan couldn’t care less about the enchanting snake. He immediately pushed open the door to check the situation.

Under the moonlight, Xuanling Mountain was enveloped in a nauseating scent of snake blood, with scattered fragments of the snake-charming clan members’ bodies, a horrifying scene.

The crimson snake blood gathered together, forming a river of blood that slowly flowed towards the peculiar plant.

The great battle had ended, and all the snake-charming clan members were annihilated.

On the mountaintop, the Purple Robed Immortal stood alone, with a sharp sword in hand, and in an instant, the snake-charming clan’s corpses dissipated into smoke.

Only the strong stench of blood in the air testified to the massacre that had just taken place.

Si Lan’s expression turned serious as he immediately cast a spell and flew towards the Purple Robed Immortal on the mountaintop.

In the shadows, Lou Yuqing’s face wasn’t very clear, but her eyes were unusually dark. When she saw Si Lan arrive, she seemed to deliberately keep her distance, turning slightly to the side.

“Lou Yuqing, why did these snake-charming clan members attack Xuanling Sect?” Si Lan asked.

“Snake-charming clan members harm the common people and have always been our mortal enemies at Xuanling Sect,” Lou Yuqing replied in a calm voice, devoid of any emotion.

Si Lan felt that something was amiss. From the battle just now, it was evident that the fighting capabilities of the snake-charming clan were like eggs hitting a rock when compared to Xuanling Sect. Even if they were enemies, the snake-charming clan wouldn’t willingly throw themselves into such a deadly situation. Furthermore, Xuanling Sect had killed all the snake-charming clan members, leaving no survivors, a behavior not typical of cultivators.

“Si Lan, get some rest. Don’t let these filthy creatures disturb your peace of mind,” Lou Yuqing said indifferently before turning and leaving.

Si Lan wanted to say more, but Lou Yuqing had already walked away, denying him the opportunity to speak.

He watched Lou Yuqing’s departing figure and sighed heavily.

Their relationship had really become distant.

Lou Yuqing’s attitude used to be far from this cold

He floated in the air for a while, lost in thought. Suddenly, he remembered something and was frightened. He quickly used magic to return.

“Little one!”

He had forgotten about the little dragon’s existence!

He pushed open the door, frantically searching for the little dragon but couldn’t find it anywhere.

Could it have been eaten by the snake-charming clan members already?

He turned pale with worry and was about to interrogate the snake-charming clan members on the ground when something fell from the room’s ceiling, hitting him on the head.

He caught the object and saw that it was a partially bitten wild fruit. He looked up and found the little white dragon perched on the ceiling beams, gazing down at him with its golden eyes.

He breathed a sigh of relief, cast a spell, and brought the little white dragon into his embrace.

“Thank goodness you’re okay, little one.”

The little white dragon nonchalantly flicked its whiskers.

What an immature Demon Sovereign.

If it weren’t for its fear that directly killing the snake-charming clan members would prevent Si Lan from escaping the illusion, it would have already dealt with them.

At this moment, one of the snake-charming clan members in the corner woke from unconsciousness. After observing the situation, it attempted to crawl away quietly. However, as it reached the door, it was suddenly slammed shut with a loud bang.

A sinister voice came from behind, “If you try to leave through that door, Xuanling Sect will tear you apart.”

The snake-charming clan member turned, hissing with a menacing look, trying to intimidate Si Lan. But the words that came out of its mouth were incomprehensible.

It suddenly remembered that its two fangs had been pulled out by Si Lan and closed its mouth, embarrassed.

Si Lan held the little white dragon and used a spell to make the snake-charming clan member’s body levitate, bringing it in front of him.

He grabbed the snake’s neck and pressed for answers, “What’s the grudge between the snake-charming clan and Xuanling Sect?”

The snake remained silent, its eyes filled with hostility.

Si Lan didn’t expect this little snake to be so stubborn. He reached out and patted its belly. “I suddenly remembered, I haven’t had dinner yet tonight.”

He then cast a spell to create a small fire and used some bamboo leaves to wrap the snake tightly, leaving only its head exposed.

“Little one, have you ever eaten roasted snake with bamboo leaves?” Si Lan asked the little white dragon, which yawned and remained silent.

Si Lan was used to its indifference and continued talking to himself. “Roast the snake slowly until it’s about seventy percent cooked, then sprinkle some seasoning. At around ninety percent cooked, you open the bamboo leaves. By that time, the fragrance of the bamboo leaves will have been infused into the snake meat, making it fragrant and tender.”

The snake-charming clan member shivered upon hearing this. Its eyes were full of fear as it looked at the intense flames beneath it.

The bamboo leaves had turned black, and the rising heat was suffocating, making it hard to breathe. The snake-charming clan member couldn’t help but screech in terror.

“You hypocritical cultivators, just get on with killing me! I’m not afraid!”

“You’ve got it wrong; I’m not a cultivator.”

“If you’re not a cultivator, then why are you conspiring with them?”

Si Lan heard this accusation and furrowed his brows. He had never heard someone say that he was conspiring with the cultivators. In the past, they had always accused him of conspiring against the cultivators.

“Are you really not a cultivator?” The snake-charming clan member sniffed the air, failing to detect the aura of a cultivator around Si Lan. Even Si Lan’s spiritual energy seemed elusive to it.

This person’s magical power was far beyond its own.

“Okay, can you now tell me why you attacked Xuanling Sect?” Si Lan inquired.

“Why should I tell you?” The snake-charming clan member, despite revealing its intentions when it spoke, remained stubborn, raising its head.

Si Lan pointed at the area beneath the snake-charming clan member. “If you don’t tell me, you’ll get charred.”

“Ah
” It screamed in panic and struggled to escape. However, Si Lan pressed it back down.

It extended its snake tongue, and Si Lan’s expression shifted as he reached out to grab its tongue. It suddenly remembered something and was terrified. It shivered, trying to speak but slurring its words. “I
I’ll talk, just don’t pull out my tongue!”

Si Lan released its snake tongue and waved his hand, causing the fire beneath it to disappear instantly.

The snake-charming clan member

hastily tore the bamboo leaves apart. Its belly was already charred, and tears welled up in its eyes as it began to speak, “Half a month ago, our Snake Mother was captured by Lou Yuqing and imprisoned in Xuanling Mountain. We attacked Xuanling Mountain multiple times to rescue Snake Mother.”

“Snake Mother? Why did Lou Yuqing capture Snake Mother?” Si Lan’s expression grew serious as he listened to the snake-charming clan member’s words, trying to determine the truth behind its story.

“I don’t really know. All I know is that this Lou Yuqing is a hypocrite, with a heart as vicious as a beast’s. He’s been exterminating our snake-charming clan
” The snake-charming clan member choked back tears as it spoke.

The snake-charming clan had launched two rescue missions to save Snake Mother, but both had failed. They were planning a third attempt with the entire clan, and if that failed, they would face extermination.

Si Lan understood Lou Yuqing’s character. He knew that Lou Yuqing was not a hypocrite with a vicious heart.

On the contrary, Lou Yuqing was benevolent, wholeheartedly focused on cultivation, and one of the few Immortal Sovereigns who could distinguish right from wrong and had no prejudice against demons and monsters.

Si Lan felt that there must be a misunderstanding.

He thought for a moment and decided that he would talk to Lou Yuqing to get to the bottom of the snake-charming clan’s situation after daybreak.

“By the way, you bit me earlier. Is there any lingering effect?” Si Lan knew about the snake’s venom, that it wasn’t lethal, but he wasn’t sure if there were any side effects.

Upon hearing this, the snake-charming clan member’s eyes flickered. “Well, you already have a lingering effect
”

“
” Si Lan took out a bronze mirror and realized that his tongue had extended, and he was making a hissing sound from his mouth. No wonder he felt like something was off while speaking.

He asked with an expressionless face, “Are there any other symptoms?”

The snake-charming clan member lowered its head. “Our snake-charming clan’s venom, also known as snake venom, as the name suggests
”

“
” Si Lan felt something was amiss now. His body temperature was abnormally high, and he initially thought it was due to the fight, causing his nerves to overreact.

“So, how do I get rid of this snake venom?” Si Lan asked.

“Find a beautiful lady.” The snake-charming clan member replied nervously.

“
”
