Chapter 43

“Have you eaten yet?” Li Zhenran asked him.

At that moment, Li Zhenruo decided to tidy up his messy emotions. He touched Li Zhenran’s hand, held it, and said, “Not yet, how is your father?”

Li Zhenran took his hand to make him stand up, sat on the office chair by himself, and then held Li Zhenruo’s waist and let him sit on top of him.

This was a bit awkward, well, it was not too awkward, since Li Zhenruo has long been used to sitting on Li Zhenran’s lap.

As Li Zhenran rubbed Li Zhenruo’s side waist lightly, he said, “It’s nothing, he’s going to stay in the hospital for a few days for observation.”

Li Zhenruo asked him, “Then why did you come back?”

Li Zhenran said, “The hospital has nurses, so I don’t need to watch the night. Eldest brother and the third child have already rushed over.”

       Li Zhenruo said, “That’s good.”

Li Zhenran suddenly chuckled, and Li Zhenruo turned to look at him inexplicably.

Li Zhenran tilted his head with a smile in his eyes, “My dad said that the boy who rescued him in the elevator pretended not to know him at first, but when he saw him sick, he immediately knew who he was.”

Li Zhenruo pretended to be bashful, “It’s my fault for being a little nervous about being in the elevator with him. I’m afraid he would suspect our relationship.”

“What’s our relationship?” Li Zhenran held his hand tightly.

Li Zhenruo shook his upper body gently, “Isn’t it the relationship between the owner and the pet?”

This sounded like it had a double meaning, and Li Zhenruo knew that it would definitely be an answer that would satisfy Li Zhenran.

Sure enough, Li Zhenran let out an “um—” sound. “You know, there are some things the owner will worry about. As a pet, all you have to do is to make the owner happy, right?”

Li Zhenruo wanted to roll his eyes, but his mouth was exceptionally smart, “I know, Master.”

Li Zhenran reached out and pulled the collar on his neck, “Let’s go, I’ll take you to dinner, what do you want to eat?”

Li Zhenruo replied, “Eat whatever you want, as long as it’s not cat food.”

At this time, the driver had been sent back by Li Zhenran, and when he came out of the company, Li Zhenran personally drove the car and took Li Zhenruo around on the street without a destination.

Later, when he saw a long queue at a small restaurant on the side of the road, Li Zhenruo pointed out, “Let’s eat that.”

Li Zhenran didn’t object. He found a place to park the car nearby and walked over to eat with Li Zhenruo.

Before getting out of the car, Li Zhenran took off his suit jacket and tie, made an opening on his collar, and rolled up his sleeves. In summer, the evening temperature was nearly 30 degrees. Li Zhenran usually stayed in places with air conditioning. Suddenly walking on the street like this made it look like he was dressing too thick.

And Li Zhenruo dressed casually in a T-shirt and sweatpants, like a student.

When Li Zhenran rolled up his sleeves, Li Zhenruo suddenly felt that he was terribly sexy.

“Let’s go,” Li Zhenran patted Li Zhenruo’s head, opened the door and got out of the car.

It was just a quick glance just now. Li Zhenruo only saw a lot of people lining up outside the restaurant and didn’t know what they were eating. Only then did he come to know that it was a shop selling spicy crayfish.

They took a number and asked the restaurant waiter. They knew it would take almost half an hour to line up.

Li Zhenruo was a little hesitant because it was too hot outside, but Li Zhenran didn’t care and sat down on the small stool.

It was a strange feeling. If it were in the past, even if he were killed, he wouldn’t believe that one day he and Li Zhenran would sit in line outside a small roadside restaurant, waiting for a meal of crayfish. Even if it was really delicious, Li Zhenruo would only ask someone to buy it for him, instead of sitting here stupidly queuing up, let alone with Li Zhenran.

Suddenly, Li Zhenran reached out and held the hand he had placed beside him.

Li Zhenruo could not help but tense up for a moment and tried to see if anyone around noticed. At this time, the people in line were either chatting or looking down at their mobile phones. No one paid attention to them anyway. After a little twitching, he took Li Zhenran’s hand back as a matter of course.

The two of them didn’t speak, they sat on the side of the road and held hands quietly. Even if it was their first love, Li Zhenruo had never tried to be so clingy with others.

After waiting for about ten minutes, Li Zhenruo saw a young man and woman pass by in front of him. They looked like they were dressed like college students.

When he passed in front of him, the man stopped in his tracks, and the long-haired girl continued to walk forward to find the waiter in the restaurant to line up.

The boy stood still, turned his head and looked at Li Zhenruo.

Li Zhenruo was stunned and looked at the boy, only to see that he was tall and thin, with fair and handsome features. The boy was wearing a plaid shirt and denim trousers and looked very refined.

The boy looked at Li Zhenruo’s eyes with some doubt, but Li Zhenruo felt his heart beating violently at this moment. He looked at the boy and almost couldn’t help standing up, but when he moved, he felt that Li Zhenran was holding his palm with the strength increased slightly.

Li Zhenruo turned to look at Li Zhenran and saw that Li Zhenran was frowning at him before he snapped out of it.

At this time, the girl who was with the boy got the number, went back to him and joked with him, took his hand and walked to the vacant seat next to him to sit down and wait for the number.

The two left Li Zhenruo’s sight, and he heard Li Zhenran ask him in his ear, “Do you know him?”

Li Zhenruo shook his head a little dazedly.

Li Zhenran said, “Then what are you looking at?”

He felt that Li Zhenran’s tone was a bit unhappy and quickly said, “I just think…… He might not be human.”

Li Zhenruo said this nonsense casually in order to divert Li Zhenran’s attention. It was a bit strange to tell the truth just now. The reason for the rapid heartbeat was that Li Zhenruo felt an indescribable attraction. At that moment, he even thought he was in love with the boy at first sight.

But when he thought about it carefully, there was something wrong. The attraction was not so much a mental attraction, but a physical one, completely out of the control of his own thinking. Li Zhenruo thought it was strange, so he decided to remember this matter and consult Xia Hongshen when he had time.

And Li Zhenran was successfully distracted by him, “Not a human?”

Li Zhenruo nodded, “I guess he’s my kind. You should be more careful next time you see him.”

Li Zhenran had no idea in his mind, so he ignored his words.

After waiting in line for half an hour, it was finally the two of them’s turn.

Li Zhenran sat down and read the menu for a while, then raised his head and asked the waiter, “Can cats eat crayfish?”

Li Zhenruo was wiping the table with a piece of paper, and looked at him for a while, and saw that he had a serious look on his face.

The waiter froze and said, “Ah, can it? Don’t cats like to eat fish? Fish and shrimp should be similar, right?”

Li Zhenran thought about it for a while and seemed to think it made sense, so he said, “One pound each for fried and steamed.”

The two had a full meal outside, and then the young man and woman came in and happened to be sitting at the table behind Li Zhenran. As soon as Li Zhenruo looked up, he found that the boy on the opposite side was looking at him. When he looked over, the boy didn’t turn his eyes away and just stared straight at him.

Later, Li Zhenruo didn’t dare to stare at him for too long, for fear that Li Zhenran would notice and it would make him unhappy.

As they returned to Li’s house in the evening, Li Zhenruo hid in the car and changed back to the appearance of a cat. The clothes that fell off were folded by Li Zhenran and brought back upstairs for him.

Li Zhenruo followed Li Zhenran into the living room and saw Wen Chun talking to Wang Ma in the dining room.

When Wang Ma saw Li Zhenran, she stood up from her chair and said, “Did you take your father to the hospital today?”

       Li Zhenran nodded.

Li Zhenruo stuck his head out from his leg and saw Wang Ma also look worried.

“How did he have an attack in the elevator?” Wang Ma asked with a sigh.

Li Zhenran said, “It’s probably due to the elevator malfunction. It’s already fine, don’t worry, Wang Ma.”

“Oh dear—” Wang Ma shook her head and said, “As you get older, your health just gets worse and worse.” He didn’t know if she was talking about Li Jianglin, or herself.

Wen Chun was sitting by the dining table with a water glass in her hand, but she also stood up and asked Li Zhenran, “I heard that the person who gave dad first aid in the elevator today was your new assistant?”

       Li Zhenran nodded, “Yes.”

Wen Chun said strangely, “How come I haven’t seen him before?”

Li Zhenran said to her, “The new one is still on probation.”

Wen Chun replied, “Oh…” After she finished speaking, she noticed the cat following Li Zhenran’s legs, smiled and waved, “Dumpling.”

Li Zhenruo wanted to raise his paw to wave at her, he half raised his paws and felt it was not quite right. So he grabbed Li Zhenran’s trouser leg, pretended to be afraid, and pressed his face to Li Zhenran’s leg.

Li Zhenran glanced at him and said to Wen Chun and the others, “I’ll go upstairs first.”

Li Zhenruo sprang out from his legs and ran upstairs first.

Early the next morning, Li Zhenruo turned over beside Li Zhenran’s bed and didn’t notice that his cat’s paw hit Li Zhenran’s face and woke him up.

Li Zhenran opened his eyes and grabbed his paw. He was originally about to throw Li Zhenruo off the bed, but he just put Li Zhenruo’s paw on his lips and kissed it lightly.

Li Zhenruo opened his eyes inexplicably, looked at him with sleepy eyes, and scratched his eyes with his paws.

Li Zhenran sat up and called the hospital to ask about Li Jianglin’s condition.

Li Zhenruo turned over and got out of bed to go to the bathroom. When he came out, he had become a naked young man. He walked to the bed and sat cross-legged, yawned, and asked, “Is dad all right?”

Li Zhenran threw the phone aside, leaned his body back against the bed, looked at him and said, “You called him so affectionately?”

Li Zhenruo was still half awake, and when he heard Li Zhenran’s question, he quickly got up and rushed forward, wrapping his arms around Li Zhenran’s neck, almost touching his lips and saying, “Then what should I call him? Grandpa?”

Li Zhenran put one arm around his waist and rubbed lightly, “Then aren’t you going to call me dad?”

Inside his heart, Li Zhenruo was thinking, Li Zhenran you are so shameless, I really didn’t see this before! But his mouth said, “What are you talking about!” After that, he kissed Li Zhenran’s lips.

An inexplicable conversation developed into a passionate scene early in the morning. Li Zhenruo felt that he should be cautious and not make Li Zhenran suspect him. Otherwise, Li Zhenran wouldn’t always be able to be fooled, and he would definitely doubt him over time.

Maybe Li Zhenran had suspected him for a long time, but his thoughts were too deep to let Li Zhenruo see it.

Li Zhenruo was panting slightly, his sweaty head resting on Li Zhenran’s shoulders, his arms wrapped around his waist.

Li Zhenran said suddenly, “Dad asked you to come over.”

Li Zhenruo wanted to ask “What did Dad call me over for?”, but he knew that he couldn’t say it without saying the word “Dad”. With a knot in his head, he said, “What did Grandpa tell me to do?”

Li Zhenran laughed, his chest shook, and he pinched Li Zhenruo’s face and saying, “He wants to see the grandson.”

No matter how thick-skinned Li Zhenruo was, he couldn’t help being a little ashamed. He scratched his face and said, “What if he suspects us?”

“What can we do?” Li Zhenran said, “It doesn’t matter.”

Li Zhenruo looked up at his expression and saw that Li Zhenran’s expression was calm as if he really didn’t care if Li Jianglin knew that his son was entangled with a man.

Li Zhenran had already got up at this time, patted Li Zhenruo’s head, and said, “Son, go take a bath, and follow me to the hospital later.”

Li Zhenruo knew that his temporary slip of the tongue would definitely be made fun of by Li Zhenran for a long time. He wanted to go out and call Li Zhenran dad, but after all, he couldn’t say it, because it reminded him of Li Jianglin, so he could only endure the sulking.

When he went out with Li Zhenran in the morning, he was still a cat, but when he arrived at the hospital, he became a handsome young man. But it was a pity that the clothes were the same as yesterday.

“You left all your clothes in the company,” Li Zhenran said impatiently, “My dad can see if you are wearing my clothes.”

Li Zhenruo took the T-shirt and smelled it, and could still smell the smell of crayfish.

Li Jianglin lives in the VIP ward and was guarded by a dedicated nurse and a doctor who was directly in charge of his hospital bed. It didn’t matter even if there was no family to accompany him.

Li Zhenran knocked on the door first, then twisted the door handle to go in.

Li Zhenruo stood by the door and did not follow up immediately, but quietly leaned against the wall to wait for him. After a while, Li Zhenran opened the door and said to him, “Come in.”

Li Jianglin had already woken up and leaned on the bed. He seemed to be in good spirits.

Li Zhenruo walked in, bowed respectfully and greeted, “Mr. Li.”

Li Jianglin looked at him for a moment, then smiled and said, “Are you Zhenran’s assistant?”

Li Zhenruo said quickly, “I’m still in the internship period, and I haven’t officially become the second assistant.”

Li Jianglin asked him, “What’s your name?”

Li Zhenruo glanced at Li Zhenran and said, “Jason.”

Li Jianglin said, “What about your Chinese name?”

Li Zhenruo took a deep breath, hating himself for not being able to rush over to strangle Li Zhenran. He gritted his teeth and said, “My name is Li Tuan1he deliberately didn’t say Tuanzi(dumpling) to avoid suspicion..”

Li Jianglin couldn’t help frowning slightly and then asked, “Which Tuan2he’s asking about what Chinese word is his Tuan. See note below.?”

Li Zhenruo said, “Tuan as in regiment.”

Li Jianglin laughed when he heard the words, “Does your family want you to be a soldier?”

Li Zhenruo thought to himself, thank God that Li Jianglin didn’t think of a cat called Tuanzi in the Li family, and replied with a wry smile, “Yes, my dad didn’t tell me.”

Li Jianglin looked at him for a while, “How old are you? You look quite young.”

Li Zhenruo said, “I am nineteen years old.”

Li Jianglin heard the words and said, “Looks like a high school student. Why did you work at the age of nineteen and didn’t go to college?”

The more he talked, the more issues were exposed. Li Zhenruo was unable to make up an identity story out of the blue, he was afraid that the story would be too careless, and Li Jianglin would know that there was a problem after checking.

So if you tell a lie, you need to keep lying to make up the lie, which was really painful.

Li Zhenran answered at this time, “He is doing an internship while going to university, and it is just summer vacation now.”

Li Jianglin nodded. It was hard to say whether he believed it or not. He propped himself on the mattress with his hands and wanted to change to a more comfortable position.

Li Zhenruo hurriedly stepped forward to help him.

Li Jianglin patted the back of his hand to show his thanks and then motioned for Li Zhenran and Li Zhenruo to both sit down, since there was no need to stand while talking.

When Li Zhenran sat down beside the bed, he said, “Jason is Luo Fei’s cousin.”

Li Zhenruo bit his lip and pretended to be a little embarrassed.

Li Jianglin nodded with understanding and said, “Is that so.” Then he asked Li Zhenruo, “If you know me, why did you pretend not to know me in the elevator at first?”

Li Zhenruo’s fingers were crossed and he squeezed them nervously, “When I rushed in, I thought it was you but I weren’t sure. And after hesitating, I was embarrassed to speak, so I pretended not to know you. Didn’t I worry about you afterwards?”

As Li Jianglin heard him say so, he smile and shook his head.

Li Zhenruo asked cautiously, “Old man, is your body okay?”

Li Jianglin said, “It’s nothing, since you are Luo Fei’s cousin, just call me Uncle Li, you don’t need to be so distant.”

Li Zhenruo nodded, coyly afraid to call out.

Li Jianglin asked him again, “How do you know that I have medicine on me?”

Li Zhenruo said, “One of my uncles has a heart attack. He said that he takes medicine with him wherever he goes. So I thought I’d give it a try then, thinking it would be good if I could find it. I hope it has helped you.”

Li Jianglin smiled at him, “You have helped me a lot, thank you, young man.”

Li Zhenruo lowered his head and smiled.

Notes:
This happens a lot to Chinese when they are asking for names. For example, if your name is Zhang, they will ask you which Zhang as in which character is the Zhang is written to know the meaning of their name. In the story, Li Jianglin was asking which Tuan because the character 团 (tuán) can mean several things such as round, lump, ball, regiment, group, and society.

Chapter 23 – He took a shower and left

Chapter 23 – He took a shower and left

The driver turned around and asked, “Where do you want to go?”

Jian Luo said to the driver, “Wait a minute.”

He turned on the information bracelet and contacted Jiang Jiang urgently. When he was chatting with Jiang Jiang before, Jiang Jiang said that he lived in Dark Star and it was within the inner ring1In China, cities are divided into circles. Those within the more inner layers of the circles (more metropolitan areas) were considered to be more rich than those in the outer rings.. The location was very good and he lived alone.

I’m counting on you now, Jiang Jiang!

Jian Luo sent him a message: “It’s an emergency. Can you come and pick me up? Something happened.”

Jiang Jiang replied quickly: “What’s wrong with you, where are you?”

“Tell me a place.” Jian Luo replied, “Where can we meet?”

Jiang Jiang over there was also a cheerful person, and quickly set the location, Jian Luo breathed a sigh of relief and reported the address to the driver.

The driver responded and started the car.

Sitting in the back seat, Jian Luo felt that his entire body was going to be crippled. He gasped lightly, thinking that Lu Shifeng was a beast and a bastard, not a human being!

Quickly

The driver arrived at the place: “Mr. Jian Luo, we are here.”

Jian Luo got up with difficulty and trembled as he opened the door, but the driver was faster and had already gotten out of the car to open the door for him.

“Thank you.” Jian Luo still remembered to be polite.

The driver was also an honest man: “No need, Madam Lu. Oh no, I meant Mr. Jian. Please have a good journey.”

“…”

Jian Luo glanced at him.

The honest driver touched his head and pretended that he didn’t say anything.

Jian Luo reluctantly retracted his gaze. He had inquired before that the Dark Stars were not as conservative. They did not require those who have slept together to be married, like some traditional societies, so someone like him and Lu Shifeng having a one night stand was fine.

Everyone was mature, so it must be casual for them to get together before breaking up.

“Jian Luo!”

A boy’s voice came from not far away.

Jian Luo turned his head and saw a slightly chubby boy in black clothes standing on the side of the road. He was tall and strong.

Jiang Jiang strode over: “How are you?”

Jian Luo stretched out his hand tremblingly: “Hold my hand.”

Jiang Jiang supported him in a panic: “It’s alright. You are really going to scare me to death. When I got the call today, I was going to hang up.”

“…”

Jian Luo gasped lightly: “Go back first, I want to take a bath.”

Jiang Jiang answered and led him back, but he didn’t ask any more questions. He looked back frequently along the way, and it seemed that he had a lot to say, but he held back.

Jian Luo simply said, “What do you want to ask?”

“You have a piece of it…” Jiang Jiang seemed to be thinking about the words: “It seems to be the scent of a Dark Star.”

Logically speaking, Jian Luo was a human being, so how could he smell like a Dark Star?

And this smell was very overbearing and it made people a little uncomfortable after whiffing it.

Jian Luo sighed lightly: “Be confident and remove your stammering assumptions.”

Jiang Jiang was stunned, he had something more important to ask: “Luoluo, tell me. Did the other party force you? Don’t be afraid, if the other party really dared to force you, even if he is a Dark Star, he will not be exempted. The military will maintain order, so we don’t need to be afraid.”

“…”

The military did it to me.

Jian Luo sighed leisurely: “Forget it, no one forced me, I’m tired and hungry now, will you hurry up and drive?”

“…Okay.”

The two quickly returned to the residence in a car.

Although Jiang Jiang lives in the inner ring, it was an ordinary residential building. No one would have thought that the headquarters of Jinjiang Live Broadcasting Network was in such a simple place.

Jiang Jiang led Jian Luo to stop at a door. The biometric detector on the door scanned his pupils and made a mechanical sound: “Beep, pass.”

The door opened and two people walked in.

Jian Luo was helped in by him, and Jiang Jiang said, “Who was it? He didn’t take pity on you at all.”

Jian Luo echoed: “Too inhumane!”

The furnishings in the room were very simple. There was a small dining table in the living room. The kitchen was also very small. There was one bedroom and a study.

Jiang Jiang said, “You can sleep in the bedroom, I’ll just sleep in the study.”

Jian Luo shook his head: “No.”

“Why are you being so courteous with me?” Jiang Jiang asked him to sit beside the bed: “To be honest, I don’t usually use the bedroom. I sleep in the study because there are many things to monitor on the website. There are also bugs from time to time that I have to fix.”

Jian Luo was a little surprised: “It turns out that Jinjiang is so laggy because you are the only programmer?”

“Is it that laggy?” Jiang Jiang said confidently, “I think it’s okay!”

“…”

I’m afraid you have some misunderstandings about your own website.

Fortunately, Jian Luo didn’t bother to argue with him about these matters now. He sat down on the bed and asked, “Can you take a shower here, I feel uncomfortable.”

Jiang Jiang nodded quickly: “Yes, yes, I’ll adjust the water temperature for you.”

Jian Luo nodded: “Thank you!”

Jiang Jiang waved his hand and left. As soon as he walked away, Jian Luo covered his stomach. He seemed to be leaking something. He couldn’t feel any sensation below his legs. He recalled that last night was like a nightmare. Fortunately, although Lu Shifeng is not a human being, he did not transform into his dragon body to mate with him, otherwise he might not be alive now.

“Luoluo, it’s ready!”

Jiang Jiang’s voice came from outside.

Jian Luo responded: “Okay.”

He took off the information bracelet. The conditions at home were not good so the bracelet he bought was not a particularly high-end model. As such, it was not waterproof. The bracelet was placed outside as he asked Jiang Jiang to lend him a shirt before he went inside.

On the other side

In the military base.

When Lu Shifeng woke up, it was already noon. The black dragon shook his head comfortably. There was still a hint of sweet fragrance in the air, which was very tantalizing.

It was the smell of that human being.

By the way, what about that human?

Lu Shifeng turned his head. He didn’t need to look around much. There was no one else in this room and the smart dragon quickly came to a conclusion.

The dragon’s tail shook on the floor unhappily.

“Ding Dong”

The doorbell rang outside.

Lu Shifeng regained his human form. Without the dragon scales, his skin was revealed with a mottle of blue and purple scratches on it. It was very terrifying.

Secretary Jin was exhausted and worried waiting outside.

“Beep.”

The door opened and Lu Shifeng’s voice sounded from inside: “Come in.”

Secretary Jin felt as if she had been granted amnesty, and hurriedly walked in. The person sitting on the sofa wore a tattered military uniform and coat. One could faintly see the scratches on their neck and Secretary Jin who saw it felt shocked. There was not a single trace of the person who left, making it seem like it was brother Jian who was the ruthless one.

Secretary Jin thoughtfully said, “Marshal, His Majesty called you to enter the palace urgently. He said that there is something he needs to discuss with you.”

Lu Shifeng said, “I don’t have time.”

“Cough.” Secretary Jin felt a little difficult so she said quickly, “Your Majesty said that if you are in a hurry, he can take the initiative to come over on his own.”

“…”

Lu Shifeng’s handsome face instantly darkened.

It’s not that he was afraid of the little emperor. The main reason was that the little emperor was too difficult to deal with. That person was like a disgusting brown-sugar candy, sticky and can’t be torn off or kicked away.

After thinking for a while, Lu Shifeng said, “Let him come.”

Secretary Jin responded quickly, ready to find the right time to run away.

“Stop.” A cool voice came from behind and Lu Shifeng said slowly, “Did I pardon you?”

Secretary Jin stopped and walked back in small steps: “What is your order?”

Lu Shifeng said slowly, “Where’s Jian Luo?”

“…”

Marshal, wake up, I beg you.

What’s wrong with Jian Luo, he ran away early.

The other side

When Jiang Jiang was in the study room, he heard a sound coming from the information bracelet in the room. He shouted to the bathroom: “Luoluo, you seem to have a call!”

Jian Luo was having a hard time. He thought that Su Liang called him to ask why he didn’t return all night, so he said, “Please pick it up for me. Tell them you are Jiang Jiang, and that I stayed at your house.”

Fortunately, he thought about it well in advance and told Su Liang that if he had something to do in Sky City temporarily, he would stay at his good friend Jiang Jiang’s house first.

Jiang Jiang responded, but didn’t even realize that he was answering a call from the previous caller.

From the other end of the phone came a low and steady male voice with a magnetic tone: “Jian Luo.”

“Hey, I’m not Jian Luo, I’m Jiang Jiang.”

The head paused: “Where is he? I’m looking for him.”

“Ah, he went to take a bath!” Jiang Jiang scratched his head: “He slept with me today, don’t worry.”

“…”

Chapter 22 – Never go home

Chapter 22 – Never go home

The next day

When Jian Luo just woke up, he thought that he had been run over by a car again.

This kind of feeling was not something ordinary people could go through with. His limbs were sore and weak, and his entire body felt like he had been roasted over and over over a fire. Both hot and sore. He couldn’t move at all, but that’s also good as he doesn’t dare to recall what just happened.

“Boom!”

Jian Luo rolled off the bed. He let out a sigh as the bottom of his hand felt something icy cold to the touch. He looked down cautiously and saw that it was a dragon’s tail!

The huge body of the black dragon had occupied the entire bedroom. The whole dragon was resting. At this moment, he was satiated with his eyes closed. If he understood the natural behavior of the Dark Stars a little more, he would know that an adult dragon will never be in a place other than in his nest and with no one other than their partner. Plus when they fall asleep, it will be into a deep sleep that is difficult to wake up from.

Jian Luo’s eyes widened: “Dragon savior?”

A fragment of his memory flashed by, and Jian Luo suddenly recalled that before, it seemed that Lu Shifeng’s hurried dragon scales were black, which meant that his life-saving dragon was actually Lu Shifeng!?

Shit!

Now Jian Luo just wants to swear, does that mean that he really follows the rules of the rivers and lakes and promises his life-saving benefactor?

Suddenly

The dragon’s tail moved, and Lu Shifeng seemed to be waking up.

Jian Luo’s heart was stuck in his throat. He didn’t know where his strength suddenly came from, but he endured the pain and stood up. One of the advantages of Interstellar Technology was that there was a small grid in the information bracelet used as a storage space for clothes.

“Clothes, clothes…”

Jian Luo took out the white coat he had stored before shaking it and putting it on.

Step by step, he carefully moved to the door. When he opened the door, he was met by the people outside with big eyes and small eyes1O-o. Secretary Jin said, “Luoluo?”

Jian Luo leaned against the door and smiled at her: “Secretary Jin, your office is really interesting.”

Secretary Jin was sullen and she was about to cough a mouthful of blood: “That, Luoluo, I have to say… that is not my office, this is the marshal’s lounge.”

? ? ?

Jian Luo gnashed his almost shattered teeth as he trembled with anger: “Why did the little adjutant bring me here?”

Secretary Jin couldn’t figure it out either. Right now, she had something else more important to figure out, that is, why did this human being… smell like the marshal?

There were only two possible explanations.

One is that this human drank the marshal’s dragon blood, but that was impossible. Ignoring considerations about whether a human could withstand the dragon’s blood or not, it was an offense to Lu Shifeng’s people. Even if the god of war came, he may not be able to taste dragon blood.

This human?

Secretary Jin glanced at Jian Luo in front of her. The young man’s white apparel was covering him tightly, but there were still some traces on his neck that could not be ignored, but they didn’t look like traces of violence, but like oh no…

Secretary Jin suddenly had a bold idea: “Luoluo, you didn’t…”

Jian Luo shuddered. His face was dark and he didn’t want to speak: “Secretary Jin, I remember the contract we signed before, that is if something unpleasant happened to me during work, I can terminate the contract at any time.”

Secretary Jin remembered that this was true, she nodded: “What happened to you, Luoluo, can you tell me?”

“…”

Like I would tell you shit!

Jian Luo felt so uncomfortable sohe took a breath: “Secretary Jin, can you do one thing for me?”

Secretary Jin said quickly, “I can do it!”

This person may be the marshal’s future wife. Taking that into consideration, he might be the master of the other half of the military in the future. Was there anything she couldn’t do for him?

Jian Luo gritted his teeth: “Call me a car.”

Secretary Jin looked inside hesitantly: “But marshal…”

“Forget it.” Jian Luo said, “I’ll call one myself.”

Secretary Jin quickly changed her words: “Hey, hey. I’ll call for one. You can rest, I’ll call a car!”

As expected of the number one secretary of the military, her work efficiency is very fast. Secretary Jin originally wanted to follow, but was rejected by Jian Luo. Jian Luo had already figured it out. If he went home in a ghostly way, wouldn’t Su Liang and his younger brother make trouble?

No, no, wherever he was going, he had to find a hotel in Dark Star by himself!

Jian Luo said to the driver, “Please take me to a hotel.”

The driver turned his head to the front: “Sir, just to ask, do you have a registered permanent residence?”

“…”

What the hell?

Jian Luo sighed, “No.”

“You can’t stay in the Dark Star’s hotel.” The driver dutifully said, “I’ll take you home.”

Jian Luo’s head was buzzing all of a sudden, and he glanced at the driver with some resentment. But after thinking about it, it didn’t seem to have anything to do with the drivers, so he just looked away and laid down on the car’s chair blankly.

After quite a while

Jian Luo finally thought of somewhere to go!

T/N: Yes. If you’re wondering if they did the nasty. Yes, yes they did. Unfortunately, it’s censored… I’m so sad, but hey they say imagination is the best tool, so I’ll just leave whatever happened between Jian Luo and his draggo hubby up to your imaginations, huh? ✍(◔◡◔) I wonder how dissapointed Aidalba must’ve been when reading the beginning of this chapter. Chapter 31 – This is for borrowing!

Chapter 31 – This is for borrowing!

Xing Zhongwan was video calling in the bathroom. After the three finished talking about their business, Cheng Zhengzhe lifted his two long ponytails and pouted his lips thick with smoky makeup, “Lao Xing, I heard that you and Qi Yun are getting married? Brother didn’t get anything for you yet so I’ve sent a link, I’m thinking of getting the four-piece set.”

Xing Zhongwan mercilessly kicked the person out of the call, but Cheng Zhengzhe was soon let in by Xue Qing who sent him an invite to join back. She had a facial mask on while eating durian, “Lao Xing, you really want to go to Jiangnan with Qi Yun? Jiangnan has lots of beautiful mountains and rivers. It’s where a love story is most likely to happen.”

Xue Qing was then kicked out by Xing Zhongwan but Cheng Zhengzhe quickly invited her back in, “Lao Xing, if you want to go there. Pay attention to your personal safety and protect the chrysanthemum1his behind lol behind you.”

Xing Zhongwan rolled his eyes, “Get straight to the point, otherwise you will both be blocked!”

Xue Qing, who had just been invited back, ripped off the mask on her face, “Seriously, I’m bringing Professor Gao back tomorrow. I know only you and Qi Yun are aware of what’s going on in your hearts. We’re just joking and hope that you don’t become too involved with the Qi family. You already have some ideas about it and I know you have some sense so we are not worried about you. Go ahead to Jiangnan and pay attention to your own safety. If anything happens, contact us. We can take action if necessary.”

Xing Zhongwan shook his head, “Nothing’s happened yet so don’t worry.”

Cheng Zhengzhe’s face got closer to the screen of his mobile phone, startling both Xing Zhongwan and Xue Qing, “Lao Xing, when you go back, pray to your mother for us too. We miss her very much. If there is something amiss, remember to ask her to appear in our dreams to let us know.”

“You, take off your makeup. You’re going to scare everyone to death!” Xing Zhongwan and Xue Qing said in unison, kicking Cheng Zhengzhe out of the group chat

In Qi Yun’s room, Chen Ying stood at the side, “Master Yun, everything has been arranged in Jiangnan. You can leave at any time.”

Qi Yun rubbed his eyebrows and nodded slightly. Chen Ying thought for a while, “The thing you ordered me to do last time has been done. The bait has been released, now we are just waiting for the fish to take the bait.”

Qi Yun slowly opened his eyes. There was some coldness in those eyes, “I want the fourth young master, Qi, to never be able to get up again.”

Chen Ying stroked the glasses on the bridge of his nose, “I shouldn’t have meddled with some things, but… Young Master Yun, let me ask you one more thing. Don’t you care a little too much about the young madam?”

Qi Yun didn’t respond and asked, “Is this about the will that was released to the Qi family?”

Chen Ying said, “Yes, the old lady made two wills. One is public and I have secretly disclosed some of the contents to Madam Qi. I think the other side should not be able to sit still.”

“Your grandfather is still quite calm.”

Qi Yun looked on indifferently, “He is sitting on the fence while watching the tigers fight, I wish to provoke and hurt both sides.”

After a pause, the indifference on his face dissipated, “Send more people to protect Wanwan well.

Chen Ying frowned internally, “You really don’t need me to investigate the identity of the young madam?”

Qi Yun turned to face the window. He knew that the sun was shining and there was the crisp sound of birds chirping in his ears, but he couldn’t see it at all.

“As soon as you make a move, the Qi family will know and they will also investigate it. Don’t touch Wanwan.”

“How am I supposed to let the people who harm me live at ease in the world? How am I to not let them fall into the darkness one day?”

Qi Yun’s words were deep and cold. Each one was like a sharp knife that dug deep into one’s bones and Chen Ying’s palm was slightly sweaty, “Master Yun, the chairwoman’s health is getting worse and worse, you… She really wants to see you.”

Qi Yun lowered his head and tugged at the bandages on his hands, “She never liked me ever since I was a child. She could still pretend in front of my grandma, but as soon as grandma died, she couldn’t wait for me to die. What was the point of meeting each other?”

Chen Ying’s sweat was soaking the shirt he wore inside his suit, “Master Yun, the chairwoman had a hard time hiding from the you back then. She is not who you think she is.”

Qi Yun snorted coldly, “Chen Ying, you’ve been with her for a long time. Have you finally been assimilated by her? You’ve been with my grandma for so many years and you will know how sincere she really is towards me. She hates my father and hates me even more. She even feels disgusted just glancing at me because of my bloodline. Don’t say anything else and please take good care of her body.”

Qi Yun closed his eyes and didn’t want to say anything anymore. Chen Ying lowered his head and bowed to Qi Yun. As he walked out slowly and opened the door, Qi Yun’s deep voice sounded behind him, “Don’t touch Wanwan, unless you want to test my limits!”

Chen Ying paused and went out gently as he shut the door behind him.

As soon as he looked up, he saw Xing Zhongwan who was walking towards him. The sun was behind him so he couldn’t see Xing Zhongwan’s face clearly. Chen Ying felt a slight sense of oppression as he thought of Xing Zhongwan’s face. It flashed across his mind quickly, and a drop of sweat fell between his eyebrows. Chen Ying didn’t know whether Qi Yun’s feelings for this man were real or not, but Chen Ying knew how much influence this man had on Qi Yun. It’s been like this just after a few months of getting along together. What would happen if Qi Yun saw Xing Zhongwan’s appearance in the future…?

Chen Ying didn’t dare to think about it…

On the day he was about to leave for Jiangnan, Xing Zhongwan looked at Qi Yun’s luggages and the dozens of accompanying people.

He looked at his own little duffel bag and rubbed his nose.

Throwing the duffel bag into the trunk, Xing Zhongwan turned around and saw a strange girl following the entourage into the car. She had an ordinary appearance, but looked very obedient.

Xing Zhongwan shrugged and opened the car door. As soon as Qi Yun smelled Xing Zhongwan’s scent, he relaxed. Xing Zhongwan took a vacuum flask from the side, opened the lid and handed it to Qi Yun, “Hey, it’s time to drink your medicine.” Qi Yun took it and looked up. Without frowning, he drank the whole bowl of chinese medicine2Extremely bitter. into his stomach. Xing Zhongwan peeled a lollipop and stuffed it into Qi Yun’s mouth, the sweet and greasy taste instantly dispelled the bitterness.

After the two talked it out, Xing Zhongwan never had a lollipop again and the remaining ones he had all went into Qi Yun’s mouth. Didn’t this person have to drink chinese medicine anyways? Qi Yun only frowned when Xing Zhongwan put the candy in his mouth for the first time and then accepted it readily subsequently.

Xing Zhongwan looked at Qi Yun with a lollipop in his mouth. His cold face obviously didn’t match the white paper stick sticking out, Xing Zhongwan held back a smile, “Hey, why is there a girl in the group?”

When Xing Zhongwan finished speaking, Qi Yun took out the lollipop from his mouth, his face was a little unsightly.

“Is that girl very beautiful?”

Xing Zhongwan replied casually, “Not bad!”

As soon as he finished saying those words, Qi Yun grabbed his hand and said coldly, “Don’t look at her!”

Xing Zhongwan was stunned stupid. He asked dumbfoundedly, “Why? Are you still restricting me to this?”

Qi Yun was unhappy, “Is she prettier than me?”

Xing Zhongwan saw that his face had turned blue so he opened his mouth and said, “Of course not as beautiful as you are. There are probably very few people in the world who are more beautiful than you.”

Xing Zhongwan’s mouth has always been accustomed to flirting, and if he wanted to coax people, he would do it. Qi Yun’s ears slowly turned red, “Then why are you looking at her? Just look at me.”

As soon as he finished speaking, his ears were already fully red.

Xing Zhongwan couldn’t help laughing out loud, “I just feel that there was one additional person suddenly, and I don’t know whose spy that might be, so I asked. What are you thinking about?”

He couldn’t help but add internally that the person was not his taste. In terms of appearance, she wasn’t necessarily that good-looking and he doesn’t think he’ll pick that person.

Only then did Qi Yun’s face relax, “Don’t worry, she was specially chosen by my mother to leave it to me.”

“For you?”

Xing Zhongwan said in surprise, but seeing Qi Yun leaning on his shoulder and closing his eyes, it was obvious that he didn’t want to say more.

Xing Zhongwan was a smart person so he understood as soon as he thought about it. She was borrowed to be the surrogate!

Madam Qi moved really fast and she didn’t delay it at all.

T/N: Owo just thinking about how Qi Yun’s mother could just heartlessly bring in another women for the sole reason of reproducing an heir for her disgusts me. Poor Qi Yun, with a mother like that, it’s better to not have one at all… I also feel bad for the girl, cause she was probably made a deal with Madam Qi out of desperation too.

Chapter 21 – Once the Spring Breeze comes

Chapter 21 – Once the Spring Breeze comes

Jian Luo now feels that Dark Star people really are an enthusiastic bunch!

As he walked, he said to the little adjutant, “Before I came here, I actually heard a lot of rumors about this place. I didn’t expect to feel so cordial after I came here.”

The little adjutant opened his eyes and spouted nonsense: “Damn, don’t listen to the nonsense outside. Our welfare support is high and the treatment is good. Even the marshal is very concerned about his subordinates!”

“…”

God, please forgive his lies!

When Jian Luo thought of Lu Shifeng, his brain hurt a little: “Well, there is something I want to ask you about.”

The little adjutant said generously, “What did you want to ask?”

“That is if… if, and I mean if someone accidentally said something wrong and offended the marshal.” Jian Luo was on the verge of dying and continued frantically: “Tell me… what would happen?”

“…”

There was a moment of dead silence in the air.

The little adjutant tentatively said: “I think, if that was the case, it would not be very serious.”

Jian Luo breathed a sigh of relief, it seemed like it was not that bad.

“It’s definitely possible for them to keep their corpse intact!” The little adjutant smiled: “But the Marshal’s temper has not been very good recently, so maybe he’ll even let them keep their ashes!”

“Boom……”

The dishes clinked a few times.

The little adjutant looked at the person next to him suspiciously: “What’s wrong with you, Luoluo? Are the dishes too heavy, why don’t I hold them for you?”

Jian Luo’s hands shook uncontrollably as he forced a smile: “No, no, no need to help me. I like serving dishes very much.”

The little adjutant was still a little worried: “Are you alright?”

“…”

There was something wrong!

This was a huge matter!

It seems that the matter regarding his resignation was urgent. If he accidentally bumped into Lu Shifeng, he may not even be able to preserve his ashes.

The little adjutant stopped: “Luoluo, it’s here. I won’t go in as I still have something to do. You can call me later if there’s anything.”

Jian Luo said, “Wait for me, we’ll go back together.”

The little adjutant did not dare to.

He was afraid that the marshal would call him in after a while.

Thinking of this, the adjutant exerted his usually slow brain: “I still have a job to do and the discipline in the military is strict, you know I can’t delay.”

Jian Luo nodded: “Okay then.”

So the little adjutant took off and ran away.

Jian Luo pressed on the door switch and the door opened in response. According to his understanding, he should be able to see a desk or something in the office as soon as the door is opened, but it was just the opposite. All kinds of golden guns were shining brightly.

“Secretary Jin has such a knack for collecting these, I really didn’t expect it.”

Jian Luo murmured to himself as he walked in with the meal bowl. This office was really too big. He passed by rows of shelves and went up the steps. Finally, he saw a desk. He walked in quickly and put down the bowl. When he was about to turn to leave, he heard from behind:

“Boom!”

A loud bang sounded from the lounge behind and the ground shook three times.

Jian Luo paused. Logically speaking, wasn’t this Secretary Jin’s office? Was there something back there or was it a thief?

Should he go or not go to check it out?

Jian Luo stood there a little confused.

Finally.

He decided to take a look around. This was a military base, so there shouldn’t be any thieves. Besides, it shouldn’t be a big deal to just take a look, it shouldn’t be a big deal.

Thinking so, Jian Luo went around the desk and walked towards the back.

He quietly slowed down his steps, ready to take a look and leave in a bit. When stopped at the corner of the wall, he quietly stuck out his head, and peered inside with one eye.

“Um!”

A pair of hands stretched out from behind the wall, and his world went spinning in an instant as his center of gravity was unbalanced. Then, there was a weight pressing on him, making it hard to breathe.

Heavy breathing sounded in his ears, making his heart beat faster.

Jian Luo didn’t dare open his eyes: “I-I didn’t see anything. I’m just a little cook, please spare my life.”

As soon as he spoke, there was no movement around and it was frighteningly quiet. This short calmness made Jian Luo suddenly feel a sense of security, so he opened his eyes cautiously.

A pair of scarlet eyes were facing him.

There were actually black dragon scales faintly appearing on that handsome face. Lu Shifeng’s whole body was pressed on him. Help.

“…”

Jian Luo was about to faint. He stammered: “M-Marshal?”

Lu Shifeng lowered his head and breathed lightly beside Jian Luo’s ear, as if he was sniffing his scent. The man’s voice was low and hoarse: “You smell so nice.”

Something was wrong with you.

Jian Luo felt difficult: “You get up first. I have something to say.”

He struggled a bit.

As a result, he didn’t know how he irritated the other person but dragon scales began to appear on not just Lu Shifeng’s face, but also on his hands. The ice-cold dragon scales rubbed against the skin of Jian Luo’s human cheeks, causing him to tremble all over.

Jian Luo used all his strength and roared angrily, “Get up quickly, I’m really going to be crushed to death!”

The deep masculine voice echoed in the room, and finally, Lu Shifeng was brought back to his senses.

Lu Shifeng sat up slowly, his voice hoarse: “How did you get in?”

“The little adjutant opened the door for me.” Jian Luo rubbed his sore bones: “Why are you so heavy?”

Lu Shifeng glanced at him sideways and Jian Luo didn’t dare to speak.

The terrifying pressure in the air finally dissipated and Jian Luo glanced at him a little scared: “Are you alright? You don’t look so good.”

Lu Shifeng’s breathing was unstable: “I’m okay.”

Jian Luo stood up trembling: “Then as for me, I’ll be leaving.”

He took two steps forward cautiously, trying to sneak away unnoticably. In fact, he clearly mentioned before that Lu Shifeng was definitely a very handsome man. But even if spring has finally come for him on his own accord, he still didn’t want to get into trouble.

Just when he was about to leave successfully, his hand was held and Lu Shifeng lowered his voice: “Don’t go.”

Jian Luo felt his wrist get hot. It was really hot.

Lu Shifeng raised his face, the man’s handsome face was no longer as cold and indifferent as before, but a little more bewitching as he repeated: “Don’t go.”

“…”

This, this was too unfair!

It’s true that Jian Luo was a face-con1Someone who likes pretty/handsome faces., but wasn’t he also handsome? Although he was still a child, it does not mean that he does not know those things, and he has fantasized that one day, there will be a beautiful person or a formidable top accompanying the arrival of his springtime. He just didn’t expect this day to come so quickly!

If Lu Shifeng was very stubborn about it, then Jian Luo would’ve definitely fought to the death just now. However, upon facing this unfairly handsome face, it was really difficult to refuse.

T/N: Special thanks to Polgara and Aidalba for the kofi <3 Me always appreciate it as a broke, hungry student (✿◠‿◠)

Chapter 42

Finding someone to unlock Zhao Yuqiong’s former residence was much easier than Li Zhenruo expected.

At first, he was worried that the next-door neighbour would come out and accuse him as a thief, but he didn’t expect that the building was really about to be demolished, and even the few remaining residents had moved out.

Li Zhenruo found an unprofessional locksmith and spent 100 yuan for that person to help him unlock the door.

The locksmith took the money and left. Li Zhenruo slowly pushed open the wooden door that had been covered by dust for a long time, and the old mouldy smell filled his nostrils. Actually, the house was kept clean. Although Zhao Yuqiong had left, Li Jianglin had found someone to clean the room. All the furniture was covered with white cloth, and the windows were all locked from the inside.

It was just that Li Jianglin seemed to have forgotten about the house after he found someone to clean it up. No one has come in and touched the furniture for so many years.

The furniture in the house was very simple. It was just a small apartment with one bedroom, one living room, and a very old TV style. Li Zhenruo has some doubts that if it could be used at all now. He stood quietly in the living room for a while, and in a trance, he seemed to see a young woman with a big belly sitting down on the sofa with difficulty, then lowered her head and gently stroked her belly.

He took a deep breath and walked toward Zhao Yuqiong’s bedroom.

The bedroom has a large bed, a bedside table, a desk and a wardrobe. Since the room was not big, the furniture was arranged compactly.

Li Zhenruo reached out and opened the cabinet, and thought that he could see Zhao Yuqiong’s previous clothes. To be honest, his emotions were very complicated, and he was even a little scared, but when he opened the door of the cabinet, he found that there was nothing inside.

He was stunned for a moment, Li Zhenruo wondered if there was a custom to burn all the clothes of the deceased. He didn’t know much about it, but he seemed to have heard of it when he was a child.

So he walked to the front of the desk. Li Zhenruo sat down and opened the drawer.

There were some miscellaneous items in the drawer, including some women’s small jewellery and one ruby necklaces that looked very tacky now. The ruby was obviously an artificial fake gem, and it was not worth much, but Zhao Yuqiong still carefully store it away.

Li Zhenruo found an album in the drawer on the right side, he hurriedly took it out and opened it, but found that it was an empty album with no photos posted in it.

After he stared blankly for a moment, Li Zhenruo noticed that it was a children’s album, from the baby’s one-month-old birthday to the age of one or two, recording the trajectory of the child’s growth. He thought that this might have been prepared for him by Zhao Yuqiong, but unfortunately, she was not able to accompany her son to grow up.

There were a lot of emotions that he thought he wouldn’t care about, but at this time they came out in a flood. Li Zhenruo lowered his head and put the album back, and slowly closed his eyes.

He rummaged through the drawers of the desk and couldn’t find anything of value. He didn’t find a letter or the diary he hoped for, just as this empty room didn’t leave many records about this woman.

Li Zhenruo stood up and put his last hope on the bedside table.

There were two drawers on the bedside table. The one on the top was filled with keys and some old certificates, while the one on the bottom was empty. The bottom was covered with newspapers, perhaps previously used to put socks and underwear within the personal belongings.

Li Zhenruo was originally squatting on the edge of the bed and wanted to get up at this time, but suddenly noticed that there seemed to be a white piece of paper under the mattress, showing a small corner on the outside. If he didn’t look carefully, he wouldn’t notice it at all.

He reached out and grabbed a piece of paper, raised the mattress with the other hand, and pulled out the piece of paper. Only then did he see clearly that it was the back of a photo, and there was not only one photo under it. He hurriedly pulled out the other one as well.

As he flipped the photo to see the front, Li Zhenruo saw that it was a group photo of two people. The colour in the photo seemed to be too old and had begun to turn yellow. The background of the photo was probably a scenic spot in China, and there were two people in front, one of them was a young Zhao Yuqiong, and the other was a young man. Because the person was photographed somewhat small, it was difficult to see the man’s face clearly, but Li Zhenruo was sure that it was not Li Jianglin.

He flipped through another photo, this time it was a one-person photo. It was the man in the photo just now, wearing the same clothes, standing in front of a stone monument in a scenic area. This photo was so clear that Li Zhenruo can see his facial features carefully.

He unconsciously tightened his fingers while holding the photo, because he could see clearly that the man’s appearance was clearly similar to his.

If that man were to stand with Li Jianglin, he would probably doubt that he was not Li Jianglin’s biological son just by looking at him.

Li Zhenruo’s legs become a little numb after squatting for a long time. He got up and sat down beside the bed regardless of the dust on the bed. He never took his eyes off the photo. He knew what these two photos meant. If Li Jianglin saw these two photos at the beginning, then he would not be Li Zhenruo, maybe his surname was Zhao, or maybe it was something else.

Before, he had been thinking about who had discovered what clues and began to doubt his relationship with Li Jianglin. Now he was holding these two photos in his hand, and he began to have some thoughts in his heart.

Li Zhenruo bent down and carefully looked at the traces under the mattress. He believed that these two photos should have been pressed here for more than 20 years and no one could find them. When he pulled it out just now, it was even stuck to the bedboard and needed to be removed with force. So are there other pictures? Could it be that the man in this photo has appeared?

He sat up straight and raised his hand to rustle his hair.

If he had discovered these two photos a few years ago, his first reaction would have been to destroy the remains, but now it was no longer necessary. Anyway, it was a secret that was no longer important.

He stood up with the photo and planned to take it away. There were other things besides the picture, and it seemed that Li Jianglin has completely forgotten about the existence of this house. Even if it was demolished, he would definitely not come to remove the things, because it was meaningless to him. At that time, this stuff would probably be transported and disposed of together with the construction waste. If he wanted to take away some memories of Zhao Yuqiong, then there was only now.

But Li Zhenruo also has a problem, that was, that he had no place of his own now, and he must live with Li Zhenran. No matter where these things were stored, it would be difficult not to be discovered by Li Zhenran.

After he hesitated for a while, Li Zhenruo put away the photos, including the tacky ruby necklace in the drawer and the blank photo album, and put them into an empty file bag, then quietly exited and closed the door.

Li Zhenruo left Zhao Yuqiong’s former residence and called Feng Junyuan.

Dr. xiao Feng was still working in the hospital at this time and received a call from Li Zhenruo asking him to come to the hospital to find him.

Li Zhenruo took a taxi and found him in the surgical department where Feng Junyuan worked. He handed the file bag to him and said, “Doctor Feng, could you please help me keep these things?”

Feng Junyuan saw that his attitude was so solemn, and asked, “Is it a very valuable thing?”

Li Zhenruo shook his head, “It’s not worth the money, but it’s important to me.”

Feng Junyuan looked down at the old and yellowed file bag, nodded and replied, “Okay.”

Li Zhenruo couldn’t help but smile, “Thank you so much, you have helped me a lot, but please don’t tell Mr. Luo about this, I don’t know if it’s okay?”

Feng Junyuan replied, “Well, but even if Luo Fei knew about it, he wouldn’t say anything to Li Zhenran.”

Even when he knew what he was thinking was seen through by the other party, Li Zhenruo didn’t care, and said, “It’s nothing really, I just don’t want him to know something now.”

       Feng Junyuan said, “Don’t worry.”

For some reason, Li Zhenruo felt very relieved when he heard Feng Junyuan say “don’t worry”. He has a strange sense of trust in Feng Junyuan and Song Jun, probably because Feng Junyuan offered him a helping hand when he was most at a loss and helpless, making him feel that this person was truly reliable.

As he left the hospital, Li Zhenruo saw that it was late, so he took a taxi back to Yunlin.

The security guard downstairs already knew him, and no one came forward to stop him. It was almost time to get off work at that time, and Li Zhenruo was in a hurry to leave, afraid that Li Zhenran would call him later. He hurried into the VIP elevator leading to the 22nd floor and above. When he looked up, he found that there was still a person standing inside, and it turned out to be Li Jianglin.

The elevator came up from the first floor, and Li Zhenruo was frozen. He realized that Li Jianglin had probably returned from something temporarily, and had just come out of the underground parking lot to go up to the twenty-fourth floor where his office was located.

The elevator dedicated to the Li family was not forbidden to be used by other employees, but except for new employees or people from outside who occasionally made mistakes, the company employees usually do not use this elevator.

When Li Zhenruo rushed in, Li Jianglin just glanced at him, stood up straight with crutches in his hand, and said nothing.

He didn’t ask, Li Zhenruo simply pretended not to know, and even pretended not to recognize Li Jianglin, pressed the elevator door with his back to him, and pressed the button leading to the twenty-third floor.

The elevator went up smoothly, Li Zhenruo lowered his head and wanted to hum some songs pretending to be indifferent.

When they reached the tenth floor, the elevator seemed to shake. Li Zhenruo immediately looked up and saw that the elevator was still going up, but as it goes up two more floors, the elevator shook more and more. Li Zhenruo began to feel that something was wrong, so he reached out and pressed the nearest elevator floor and want the elevator to stop.

Sure enough, when it reached the thirteenth floor, the elevator stopped, but it stopped completely. After making a clanging sound, it stopped firmly, but the elevator door did not open.

Li Zhenruo hurriedly pressed the door button, but there was no response, and the light above his head flashed and suddenly went out.

Now he could be sure that he has encountered an elevator failure. After he dazed for a little, Li Zhenruo pressed the call button outside and called for help.

“Anyone?” Li Zhenruo shouted. He didn’t hear a reply from outside, and he didn’t know if the communication line was malfunctioning, or if no one could hear his call for help.

At the same time, Li Zhenruo heard a crisp sound behind him. He didn’t realize what it was at first, but then he suddenly remembered that Li Jianglin was still inside, and the sound just now sounded like Li Jianglin’s crutch fell to the ground on the elevator floor.

Not only did Li Jianglin fall down on his crutches, but he also seemed to be very uncomfortable. His hand was propped on the elevator wall and looked like he was trembling.

Li Zhenruo could barely see Li Jianglin’s figure by the emergency light on the elevator panel. He stepped forward to help him and asked, “Old man, are you alright?”

With the help of Li Zhenruo, Li Jianglin stood up forcibly, covering his chest with one hand, as if he was too uncomfortable to speak.

Li Zhenruo knew that Li Jianglin had a heart problem, but he didn’t expect that he would suddenly fall ill at this time. At this time, he couldn’t care to continue to call for help. He could only help Li Jianglin to lie down first, and knelt on the ground to let him rest on his knees. He reached out to touch Li Jianglin’s jacket pocket. He knew that Li Jianglin had the habit of carrying medicines with him.

After he found the medicine bottle, Li Zhenruo hurriedly unscrewed the cap, poured out the medicine and fed it to Li Jianglin’s mouth, saying, “Old man, take the medicine first.”

Li Jianglin opened his mouth and swallowed the medicine.

Li Zhenruo then immediately took out his mobile phone and called Li Zhenran. His tone was hurried. As soon as Li Zhenran answered the phone, he said, “Your father and I are trapped in the company elevator. Your father has a heart attack now, quickly find someone to get him out!”

Li Zhenran asked calmly, “Which floor are you on?”

Li Zhenruo said, “The thirteenth floor! We’re in the VIP elevator, hurry up.”

Li Zhenran seemed to have already acted, and he said, “Wait for me.”

He didn’t hang up the phone, but Li Zhenran didn’t care to talk to him. He called out to Hua Yibang to call the engineering department and the security department, while he took another elevator to go down to the thirteenth floor.

In the small and dark space, Li Zhenruo could only hear Li Jianglin’s rapid breathing, and he couldn’t help raising his hand to wipe the sweat from Li Jianglin’s forehead.

Li Jianglin was not his biological father. Although he knew it for a long time, he still felt nervous and heartbroken at this time.

Li Zhenran’s side was very efficient. In less than two minutes, many people had gathered outside the elevator, planning to pry open the elevator door directly.

When Li Zhenruo heard Li Zhenran calling him on the phone, he quickly put it to his ear and said, “I’m here.”

Li Zhenran asked, “Are you all right?”

Li Zhenruo said, “I’m fine, but your father is not very well.”

At this time, Li Zhenruo found that the elevator door had been pried open, and soon after that, several security personnel opened the elevator door that was powered off for safety. Li Zhenruo half supported and carried Li Jianglin first and sent him out.

Li Zhenran reached out and took Li Jianglin, picked him up in person, and hurried into the elevator next door. He had to take Li Jianglin to the hospital.

Li Zhenruo was a little out of strength and stretched out his hand to hold the inner wall of the elevator. The staff outside called him loudly. With the help of others, he got out of the elevator, waved his hand and said nothing, and then stood quietly with his back against the wall for a while.

       “Are you okay?”

Li Zhenruo suddenly heard someone ask him, and turned to see that it was Hua Yibang.

Hua Yibang said to him, “Zhenran asked me to take you back first. Shall we go now?”

Li Zhenruo was stunned for a while and thought that he would definitely not be able to go back to Li’s house like this. He was somewhat ashamed to turn into a cat in front of Hua Yibang, so he simply shook his head and said, “No, I’ll go to Ran ge’s office and stay there for a while, you can go first, don’t worry about me.”

Hua Yibang was obviously hesitant because Li Zhenran ordered him to send this… um… his cat back to Li’s house.

Li Zhenruo pointed upstairs, “His office is unlocked, right?”

Hua Yibang took out the card from his pocket and gave it to him.

Li Zhenruo took it and said with a smile, “Thank you, xiao Hua ge,” and then walked to the side and pressed the elevator upstairs.

Hua Yibang did not follow him upstairs but called Li Zhenran to say that his little cat refused to go back, and was in his office now. In fact, Hua Yibang’s word in his heart was “your little stray cat”, but he was too embarrassed to say it.

Li Zhenran said to Hua Yibang, “Let him go, you don’t have to worry about him.”

Li Zhenruo went up to the 23rd floor alone, opened the door of Li Zhenran’s office with a key card, and then turned on all the lights. He walked slowly to the desk to sit down.

Li Zhenran’s office was almost the same as his previous office. He sat on a chair with his eyes closed and seemed to be transported back to the past.

Li Zhenruo experienced too many things in just one day, and he was a little exhausted. As soon as he closed his eyes, an old photo of Zhao Yuqiong appeared in the darkness, and the sound of Li Jianglin’s rapid breathing in the elevator just now sounded in his ears.

Li Zhenruo began to make up stories for the two of them in his head, thought about how they met, how Zhao Yuqiong had fornicated with other men and got pregnant and then tricked Li Jianglin into handing over the child to him.

When he opened his eyes, those pictures disappeared. Li Zhenruo knew that he would never be able to piece together a complete truth just with imagination, but the deeper he dug, the sadder and exhausted he felt.

He took a deep breath, Li Zhenruo sat on the table and chair, turned for half a circle, slid forward a certain distance and stopped in front of the floor-to-ceiling glass window. He stared at the city outside motionlessly and saw that the sky was slowly darkening until it was pitch black, the surrounding tall buildings were lit up one after another, the streets were jammed with cars, and the colours looked like a gorgeous river.

He stared blankly. He didn’t know how long it was, and suddenly heard the sound of the office door being opened.

       Li Zhenran was back.

He was still wearing the suit he used to go to work today, his slender legs wrapped in straight suits and trousers, and walked slowly towards the window. When he passed the desk, he threw the key card on it and made a crisp sound, and then stood behind Li Zhenruo.

“What are you looking at?” Li Zhenran asked Li Zhenruo.

       Li Zhenruo did not answer.

Li Zhenran reached out with one hand, and pressed his palm against Li Zhenruo’s neck, slowly stroking it upwards.

His palms were dry and warm, full of irresistible force, holding Li Zhenruo’s lower jaw to raise his head, then bent down and kissed Li Zhenruo’s lips.

A kiss full of encroachment, after the kiss ended, Li Zhenruo found himself gasping for breath.

Chapter 41

When Li Zhenran came down to eat breakfast, Zhu Kai said to him with great interest, “Zhenran, are you swimming in the afternoon?”

Li Zhenruo went downstairs before Li Zhenran and was lying next to the dining table looking at today’s breakfast. When he heard this, he turned his head to look at Li Zhenran.

Li Zhenran smiled and replied, “Yes.”

Li Zhenruo knew that Li Zhenran’s swimming skills were very good. He remembered that Li Zhenran seemed to have participated in a national swimming competition when he was in high school. Although Li Zhenran only won second place in the end, Li Zhenruo felt very amazed at that time.

In his memory, he had seen Li Zhenran more than once in front of the swimming pool at home, wearing a pair of dark swimming trunks, stretching his slender body and jumping into the water, swimming forward like a fish through the waves.

Later, as he got older, his time at home gradually became less, and he had less communication with Li Zhenran. Unexpectedly, there was nothing much to remember.

The workers at home spent the morning cleaning out the swimming pool and began to fill up the water at noon. In the afternoon, Li Zhenruo took a nap and was lying on the window sill of Li Zhenran’s room on the third floor. He looked down and saw the rippling water as if he could feel the cool water coming to his face.

Zhu Kai was the most energetic. He changed into a pair of swimming trunks, revealing a slightly thin and pale body. He stood on the edge of the pool, and shouted at the window of Li Zhenran’s room, “Zhenran, come down and swim!”

Wang Ma took her unfinished sweater and sat under the parasol next to the swimming pool, smiling and watching Zhu Kai making a fuss by the swimming pool.

Li Zhenruo jumped out of the window at this time. He ran to the bed and slapped Li Zhenran, who was still taking a nap with his paws, urging him to go swimming.

Li Zhenran rubbed his eyes and sat up, went over to open the closet and started rummaging for his swimming trunks.

When Li Zhenran stood in front of the swimming pool wearing swimming trunks, Li Zhenruo felt a little excited for no reason. Li Zhenran’s figure was much better than Zhu Kai’s. He has broad shoulders, a narrow waist and tight muscles. He made a standard exercise for entering the water, while Li Zhenruo spun on the side and almost fell into the pool.

Then he calmed down and thought to himself what he was getting excited about.

Li Zhenran didn’t jump into the water, but raised his hand and patted Li Zhenruo’s butt next to him, and patted him to dive in first.

Li Zhenruo fell into the water with a “slap” sound, only splashing a little water. Then he immediately started to be flustered and scrambled up. He was supposed to be able to swim, but at this time his limbs were uncoordinated and he didn’t know how to swim up.

Wang Ma let out a burst of laughter.

Immediately afterwards, Li Zhenran jumped into the water and supported Li Zhenruo’s forelimbs with his palms to lift him up.

Li Zhenruo was still in shock, spit out the water he swallowed and gasped for air.

Li Zhenran raised his hand and placed him on the shore of the pool, then stretched his arms to cut through the waves, and his slender and vigorous body was wrapped in white water and shot out like an arrow shot from a bow.

Li Zhenruo stood on the shore, the fur all over his body was wet and sticking to his body. He looked thin and pitiful and sneezed twice. He stared at Li Zhenran in the water and was stunned.

Zhu Kai sat aside, and patted Erhuang on the head, letting it go play by itself.

Erhuang came towards Li Zhenruo, lowered his head and sniffed at him.

Li Zhenruo quickly got up and moved away.

Erhuang followed and seemed to be full of curiosity. Erhuang leaned close to Li Zhenruo’s head and sniffed hard.

At this time, Li Zhenran had already swam back and forth to the edge of the swimming pool. He reached out and grabbed Li Zhenruo and put it on his shoulders. Li Zhenruo was afraid of slipping off, so he quickly grabbed Li Zhenran’s neck with his paws.

“So lively today?” Li Zhenzi’s voice suddenly came from the shore.

Li Zhenruo turned to look and saw Li Zhenzi wearing a casual suit and black leather shoes stepping on the white tiles next to the pool.

Zhu Kai just jumped into the water. When he saw Li Zhenzi, he said, “Daniel, come down and play.”

Li Zhenzi hasn’t come back since last night’s charity dinner. He should’ve spent the night at Yu Bingwei’s. He squatted down on the edge of the pool at this time and said with a smile, “I can’t swim, so I’d better watch my second brother swim. His movement is the most beautiful, and is all professional.”

Li Zhenran’s wheat-coloured skin was stained with bright water droplets, and it shone in the sun. Li Zhenruo hugged his neck and stuck his head out from his shoulders, looking down. He was seeing the firm and supple chest, flat belly lines clearly extended to the swim trunks inside, covering the most beautiful scenery.

Well, Li Zhenruo knew what the powerful thing that was underneath, and he suddenly felt a little shy when he thought of it, just like a young girl in love.

He buried his face in Li Zhenran’s neck and rubbed it hard, and felt that Li Zhenran raised his hand to hold his ass.

He didn’t know when, but Li Jianglin also came to the edge of the pool on his crutch.

Wang Ma quickly got up and gave him her seat, and took another small stool to sit next to him.

Li Jianglin was sitting on the chair, his eyes passed over Li Zhenran, looked at Zhu Kai, and finally waved to Li Zhenzi who was by the swimming pool, “Come here.”

“Dad?” Li Zhenzi hurriedly walked over when he heard the words, slightly bending down and waiting for him to speak.

Li Jianglin asked, “Where did you go last night?”

Li Zhenzi often spends the night outside, and Li Jianglin knew this son well. He usually didn’t ask much, so no one expected him to ask such a question suddenly today.

After a little hesitation, Li Zhenzi said, “I went out to play with my friends.”

Li Jianglin’s eyes fell on the swimming pool, and he said to Li Zhenzi, “Your eldest brother is getting married. You’d better behave yourself during this time.”

What did Li Zhentai’s marriage have to do with Li Zhenzi? What was the use of asking Li Zhenzi to behave?

Li Zhenzi frowned slightly, and replied obediently, “Yes, I know.” But he couldn’t help but think more.

In the swimming pool, Li Zhenruo was still holding on to Li Zhenran and refused to let go.

Li Zhenran didn’t pull off his paws but simply sank into the water. Li Zhenruo could only follow him to sink into the water, drank a few mouthfuls of water, and was picked up by Li Zhenran.

This time, he didn’t want to hold on to Li Zhenran anymore, but swam desperately to the shore, waving his little paws.

Li Zhenran didn’t tease him anymore. He grabbed him and threw him ashore.

It could be said because Li Zhenran swam in the afternoon, he was exhausted and went to bed as soon as possible at night. But somehow, he seemed to have not depleted all of his energy. In the end, he caught Li Zhenruo and torment him hard at night.

Li Zhenruo felt like he was drowning again. With Li Zhenran’s violent movements, moving up and down. He dizzily thought that fortunately, Li Zhentai and his wife went out and were not downstairs. Since no matter how good the soundproofing of this floor was, it would not be able to cover the voice wholly. It was estimated that when tomorrow morning came, they would think that Li Zhenran was a pervert.

Although the air conditioner was on, Li Zhenruo was sweating and felt sticky on his skin. He was hugged by Li Zhenran from behind, struggling to take a shower.

Li Zhenran didn’t feel sleepy at this time, he tightly wrapped Li Zhenruo’s waist with one hand, and pulled his face with the other hand to make him turn to look at him.

       Li Zhenruo’s neck almost broke.

Li Zhenran said, “Are you a cat demon?”

This topic has not been brought up for a long time, and Li Zhenruo almost forgot. When he had just transformed into a human form, Li Zhenran had doubted him and felt that Li Zhenruo knew too much, and he didn’t look like an ignorant little demon who had just transformed into a human form.

Later, he interrupted him. Li Zhenran hasn’t mentioned it for a long time. Li Zhenruo didn’t know what he did today that made Li Zhenran suddenly grab and asked him about this matter.

Li Zhenruo said, “Yes, otherwise what am I?”

Li Zhenran squeezed his face with a lot of strength, “I think you are a thousand-year-old demon?”

Li Zhenruo wanted to roll his eyes and retorted, “From where is that age from?”

Li Zhenran said, “Did an old demon from Montenegro send you to seduce men and suck people’s Yang energy?”

Li Zhenruo took a deep breath, grabbed Li Zhenran’s hand and pushed it away, “Don’t talk nonsense, you are the one tormenting me to death yourself, and now you have the nerve to blame me?” He rolled over and sat up, his waist was still a bit sore and weak.

Li Zhenran propped his head on one hand and looked at him with a faint smile on his face.

Li Zhenruo turned his head, hesitated, and then turned his whole body around. He casually sat cross-legged in front of Li Zhenran and said, “I’m not a thousand-year-old demon, I’m just an ordinary young demon. I met some catastrophe and suffered some injuries. Then in order to defend the core, I transformed into a cub, and ended up in a pet store just to be bought by someone.”

This was complete nonsense. If Li Zhenran wants to insist on getting to the bottom of the matter, Li Zhenruo may not be able to complete the whole story, but he felt that with Li Zhenran’s character, he would not ask too much.

Originally, it was bizarre enough for a cat to become a human, so let’s make it a little more mysterious and make up a reasonable history for himself.

Besides, there really were demons in this world. Didn’t you think Xia Hongshen is?

Li Zhenran really did not pursue it until the end. He just raised his hand, touched Li Zhenruo’s chest, right where the heart was, and asked him, “Is the injury healed?”

Li Zhenruo felt his heart pounding wildly, he stared at Li Zhenran and said, “Yes, you see I can even maintain my human form.” After speaking, he licked his lips again, trying to hide his nervousness, and said, “In the past, only when I was in a rut, and the spiritual power was unstable, it was possible to transform into a human form.”

Li Zhenran raised his hand and stroked Li Zhenruo’s moist lips with his fingers.

This kind of tender look at Li Zhenruo really made Li Zhenruo feel a little uncomfortable. He simply closed his eyes, rushed towards Li Zhenran, pressed him on the bed and kissed his lips.

What’s the point of talking so much? You’d better do it directly.

On Sunday night, Li Zhentai and Wen Chun returned from Saipan after taking their wedding photos. They didn’t go for a long time this time, mainly because there were still many things to prepare for the wedding, and there was not too much time to rest.

Because Li Zhenzi was hammered by Li Jianglin, he has been abnormally well-behaved in the past two days. After dinner, he went back to his room and locked himself up without harassing Wen Chun.

During dinner, Zhu Kai asked Wen Chun, “Is it fun?”

Wen Chun smiled, “Where’s the fun, just busy taking pictures and feeling exhausted.”

Zhu Kai said with a smile, “At the most beautiful moment of a woman’s life, with her favourite man, wearing the most beautiful clothes and leaving a memory of love in the most beautiful place, what is a little tired?”

Wen Chun heard the words and still smiled, but if one looked closely, the smile was somewhat reluctant, with a little unclear meaning.

Li Zhenruo was lying on the side and thought that Zhu Kai must have done it on purpose. In the beginning, he made a special call to ask Zhu Kai to tell Li Jianglin of Wen Chun’s affair, of course, Zhu Kai couldn’t have forgotten it so quickly.

He knew that Wen Chun had a problem with Li Zhentai’s feelings, and he deliberately said it to irritate people.

Zhu Kai is such a s/ut!

Li Zhenruo licked his paws and looked at Li Zhentai, who was talking to Li Jianglin: Was it you who called Yue Zijia that night?

On Monday morning, Yunlin had a relatively large board of directors, and Li Jianglin was invited to attend.

Li Zhenruo followed Li Zhenran into Yunlin, but Li Zhenran ignored him. He packed up and walked towards the conference room. He left Li Zhenruo to put on a set of clothes by himself and rummage through the cabinets. He still could not find his ID card, so he could only collect the money and card and went out.

Hua Yibang had also followed Li Zhenran to the conference room at this time. Li Zhenruo had just come out of Li Zhenran’s office when he saw the door of the opposite office open, and Li Zhenzi hurriedly walked towards the elevator.

Seeing Li Zhenruo, Li Zhenzi suddenly stopped, and then smiled at him, “Are you here to find my second brother?”

Li Zhenruo pretended to be timid, “Ran ge said he had a meeting and told me to go first.”

Su Yao came out after Li Zhenzi and was a little surprised to see Li Zhenruo, but she reminded Li Zhenzi, “We’re going to be late.”

Li Zhenzi didn’t have time to talk nonsense with Li Zhenruo. He pressed the elevator and hurried in.

Li Zhenruo waited for him to leave, then pressed the elevator button-down and stood in the corridor waiting quietly.

He has something he intended to do today, which has been in his heart for a long time, and he has not acted because he was worried about Li Zhenran.

To this day, he still wore the collar that Li Zhenran put on him by himself. And in order to make him less obtrusive when maintaining his human form, Li Zhenran gave him a thinner collar. If one didn’t look carefully, it seemed like he was wearing a necklace around his neck. This collar still has a positioning function, and apart from cutting it with scissors, Li Zhenruo couldn’t take it off without knowing the password.

The reason for wearing the collar was because Li Zhenruo had sneaked away once, and Li Zhenran said that this kind of behaviour should be put to an end. But Li Zhenruo didn’t know whether Li Zhenran would always keep track of his whereabouts and observe where he went. In fact, for Li Zhenran, even without this collar, it was not difficult to know where he went.

Of course, Li Zhenran would not necessarily do this.

After overhearing the phone call between Yue Zijia and “that person” of the Li family at the charity dinner, Li Zhenruo had a thorn in his heart. He had already decided that the call must have been with Li Zhentai, and there was always a voice telling him to rule out the possibility of it being Li Jianglin.

Where did Yue Zijia get Li Jianglin’s semen? Did she hook up with the son and then hooked up with his father?

Li Zhenruo was restless. He thought about Zhao Yuqiong’s former residence. The last time he went, he thought about finding someone to unlock it and go in to see if he could find any of Zhao Yuqiong’s remnants. After that, he had to temporarily put the idea down because of various things.

Now, Li Zhenruo felt that he couldn’t wait any longer.

When he stepped out of the elevator, he suddenly thought about how he should answer if Li Zhenran knew and asked him. After thinking about it, he felt that he had no way to answer because Li Zhenran was a smart person. If Li Zhenruo’s mother was involved, Li Zhenran would not believe it if he said he wanted to distance himself and hide the relationship.

Then let’s do it at that time, Li Zhenruo thought to himself, anyway, he was sure that Li Zhenran had nothing to do with this matter.

Chapter 20 – I'll take you into the room

Chapter 20 – I’ll take you into the room

After Jian Luo took a leave of absence to deal with the matter, he was indeed preparing for the live broadcast.

A lot of things have been delayed these days. He rarely goes on the live broadcast platform, so now he feels embarrassed.

The information bracelet received a message from Jiang Jiang: “Are you all right?”

“I’m okay.” Jian Luo quickly replied: “It’s just that I encountered some problems during this time. Thank you for your concern. I’ll resume live broadcasting.”

Jiang Jiang breathed a sigh of relief: “That’s good.”

Jian Luo smiled: “I will send you the food I made today.”

“Okay!” Jiang Jiang said, “Thank you, brother.”

Jian Luo started to log in to Jinjiang. The web page buffered for a long time, but it was still blank. No matter, it honed his patience.

After placing the small ball down for the live broadcast, he started:

“Hi everyone, let’s make shrimp chips today.” Jian Luo smiled: “We can’t sell the french fries from before because of a copyright issue regarding our french fries so we’re making shrimp chips today.”

He thought that he had not started broadcasting for many days and should not be popular, not expecting the opposite:

“God, the anchor is on!”

“I waited day and night!”

“Anchor, I’m begging you. Open the popcorn for purchase!”

Jian Luo glanced at the barrage and said in a relaxed tone: “Well, I’m going to open up the bulk physical purchase of several kinds of food soon. The anchor now has an assistant who can help with packing and shipping, but there is not enough staff, so only a limited amount will be available per day. Fifty shares. These fifty shares will be lucky-drawn in the live broadcast room. Is everyone in favor of this?”

The barrage was very cooperative:

“I support this.”

“What do you want to eat today?”

“I’m tired of shrimp, I thought you had something new.”

Jian Luo ignored some discordant remarks and just continued to prepare the shrimp. He didn’t like to show his face during the live broadcast and generally only liked to show the food to the video-recording console at most.

While handling the shrimp, Jian Luo said, “This shrimp must be handled well. Not just the shrimp head, the shrimp line should be picked out from the shrimp meat.”

Handling shrimp is not only labor-intensive, but also time-consuming.

His hands were white and slender, and he worked swiftly while handling them.

“Don’t waste too much of the shrimp heads.”

“Is this delicious?”

“The anchor doesn’t eat the suffering of the world.”

Jian Luo didn’t know that the Dark Stars originally ate the shrimp heads together. He felt helpless, but he still insisted on his own prep-work: “Then just put all the shrimp meat together.”

Because the barrage gradually became discordant, he tried his best to do more instead of speaking.

Suddenly-

“Drop!”

There was a donating notification sent by the small ball.

Jian Luo turned his head in surprise. As soon as he turned his head, he saw a prompt:

User: [Feng] sent a deep-water torpedo1Usually, they give a certain fixed amount of donations cute names in live-streaming apps. A deep-water torpedo sounds pretty hefty, so I’m guessing it’s a huge sum of money..

That was a lot of money.

Jian Luo felt very happy and said, “Thank you for the gift. It’s expensive, so I’ll mail you a copy after the shrimp sticks are made.”

The barrage crowd was also stunned by the generous gestures of the local tyrant2A watcher who dominates a live broadcasting room. Because he donated a large sum of money, the other viewers will often know his presence, and the broadcasting anchor will usually also acknowledge/thank them every time they donate..

Jian Luo began staring at the barrage.

After a while there was finally a very prominent message box.

[Feng]: How much will it take for you to show your face?

? ? ? ?

What a strange request.

The barrage is also very excited:

“Please show us your face.”

“I’m curious too.”

“The anchor cooks deliciously. I want us to get married.”

“The anchor must be good-looking. I look forward to it. I like the anchor very much.”

Jian Luo was a little embarrassed. In fact, it was okay for him to show his face, but he just didn’t like showing his face. He was hesitating when Feng suddenly said, “Forget it. No need to show it.”

? ? ?

I haven’t promised you anything yet!

Jian Luo was stunned by the willfulness of the local tyrant, but he could only endure the incoming complaints and continue: “Then let’s continue cooking.”

After that, with the addition of Feng, the live broadcasting room became very lively.

Whenever he doesn’t speak, the local tyrant fan will swipe another deep water3Donation.. If he doesn’t speak, he will swipe, so that Jian Luo doesn’t dare not to speak. He feared that others would think it was an attempt to get his undivided attention.

In the end, he could not do it anymore.

Jian Luo said while frying shrimp sticks, “This… Brother Feng, you don’t need to butter me up so much. I will speak when I should.”

His voice fell.

Feng swiped one more and said, “Tell me more.”

“…”

I suspect your brain is sick.

Of course, Jian Luo shouldn’t get in trouble with the gold master, so he could only nod his head in agreement. He then submitted a friend request and was going to ask for an address to send the things over.

After the friend request was submitted, Jian Luo went into waiting.

After waiting a long time, his request to be accepted was not approved so Jian Luo had no choice and simply gave up. His friend’s request was not accepted and that legendary customer can do whatever he wants. He was happy with that.

The next day.

“Jian Luo!”

Secretary Jin walked over with high heels and she looked excited.

Jian Lu’s hand trembled while holding the rice and he almost dropped the plate, but he steadied himself: “What’s wrong with Secretary Jin, did I do something?”

“No no no no no.” Secretary Jin smiled: “I’m just happy to see you back from vacation.”

If I don’t come back, my mother will be killed.

But I can’t leave!

Jian Luo smiled: “It’s okay, I’m officially back at work now.”

“That’s fine, that’s fine.” Secretary Jin pointed to the inside: “Please send it in by yourself. I still have something to do, so I’ll go first.”

Jian Luo was taken aback: “What?”

Secretary Jin slipped away faster than anyone else and she had already run a long way ahead when she said: “Take care of yourself. Just send it to the innermost office in the west!”

“Hey…wait!”

Jian Luo couldn’t carry it anymore and wanted to call her but she ran so fast that she disappeared in a blink of an eye.

“I’m a mess, I can’t tell the direction at all.” Jian Luo held the plate with a confused look. Didn’t Secretary Jin send it in before, so why is she so busy today?

Jian Luo has always been unclear to whom this meal was given.

But he thinks that the office on the west side should be Secretary Kim’s office!

Then never mind.

Secretary Jin should be relatively busy, so it would be better if he walked a few more steps.

Thinking of this, Jian Luo walked towards the office on the west side. This military base is too complicated. He already walked inside, but he didn’t meet anyone else. It was really outrageous.

“Huh? Is that you?”

At the corner, the little adjutant almost collided into Jian Luo.

Jian Luo was overjoyed when he saw him: “Hello, I’m here to deliver a meal. Secretary Jin said she wanted me to deliver…”

The little adjutant suddenly realized and interrupted him: “I see, she let you in, didn’t she?!”

“Yes, yes.” Jian Luo thought he understood: “Please show me the way, I really can’t find the place.”

Guiding the way was simply an easy task.

Secretary Jin was very knowledgeable. The marshal was having his manic period at the moment. The courtship problem of the dragon race will become more and more serious as time goes on. He was heated up and was now resting in the bedroom.

It was not a suitable time for anyone to deliver meals to him this time.

Jian Luo really was in time for the rain.

Thinking of this, the adjutant said quickly, “Come, come, I’ll take you, I’ll take you!”

Chapter 19 – Dragon's estrus

Chapter 19 – Dragon’s estrus

Jian Luo now found it difficult.

He originally thought about not resigning too late, but now it seems that this was not a question of whether he would resign or not, but instead, whether he can still live.

Lu Shifeng.

Why did he mess with him, did he not cherish his life?

Su Liang saw Jian Luo’s expression changing again and again, so she pulled him over to sit down on the sofa: “Luoluo, you have become a lot more sensible since the last time you were sick. Although you have forgotten a lot of things and your temperament is not the same as before, mom is still very happy. For mom, as long as you and your brother can be well, mom is willing to do anything.”

Jian Luo’s heart tightened: “Mom…”

“Mom doesn’t want to be in the spotlight of the Dark Stars and I don’t want you to be Lu Shifeng’s lover. Mom wants you to just be good and happy.” Su Liang touched Jian Luo’s face: “Although mom is incompetent, mom never wants you to make a sacrifice on what you want to do.”

Jian Luo sighed: “Mom, don’t worry. I really have nothing to do with the marshal. Don’t worry, it really was an accident. At that time, after I fell on my head, it was not easy and I forgot a lot of things, but in the future I will remember it slowly, don’t worry.”

Su Liang lowered her head and a strange look flashed across her eyes.

“I…” Jian Luo pursed his lips, wondering if he should tell Su Liang the truth: “Mom, actually this body…”

Su Liang suddenly held his hand: “Luoluo!”

Jian Luo stopped for a moment.

“Mom knows, Mom knows.” Su Liang’s beautiful eyes flashed with tears, but she quickly put on a smile and hugged Jian Luo: “As long as you survived, you can still live.”

For a moment.

Jian Luo had mixed feelings in his heart.

He didn’t know what to say, but he wasn’t sure if the poor woman had already known the fact that her son was not here anymore.

Jian Luo had never thought about hiding it from her, nor was he ever careful about avoiding it because he wanted to let the family know the truth in a relatively easy going way.

Jian Luo patted Su Liang on the back: “Mom, let’s move out of here in the future. If you believe me, I can take you out of here.”

Su Liang hesitated for a moment, before finally nodding: “Okay, mom believes in you.”

At the military base.

The entire base was shrouded in unease.

Of course, there is no other reason apart from because the annual manic period of the dragon clan is coming. Since ancient times, those in the dragon clan have been very belligerent and bloodthirsty during this period. Their fighting strength is extremely strong, so it is very dangerous.

The little adjutant was very distressed: “Secretary Jin, won’t the marshal go to the aliens this year?”

Secretary Jin was also very worried: “Usually the marshal will be fighting at this time, but this year is very special. Several galaxies around have already been subdued, plus now that there is a meal on the Dark Star that suits his liking, I don’t think the marshal will go.”

The little adjutant had a sour face: “But if the marshal can’t take his anger out of the enemy, he will take it out on our soldiers.”

During this period of time, Lu Shifeng set up a test for the entire army. Almost every soldier had to fight two moves with him, and after, everyone needed to be repaired to the extent of their broken bones fixed. How many people will have the strength left to go into battle to kill the enemy?

Life is not easy. Secretary Jin sighed: “Of course I also know about this, but it seems that the Marshal is going to retreat recently and go to the Dragon Valley.”

Little adjutant: “Really?!”

Secretary Jin nodded: “Actually, as you know, it’s referred to as the manic period, but actually it’s…”

The adjutant nodded quickly: “I know, I know, courting season.”

In order to ensure the regular reproduction of dragons, there is always an anxious courting season lasting half a month every year. Adult dragons will be very anxious and impatient at this time. If there is an object of adoration, they may make a move.

However, none of these applied to Lu Shifeng.

The marshal has not slept with anyone. The old, single dragon has not talked to anyone for five or six hundred years, let alone courted them. Every year during courting season, he vents his anger at the enemy on the battlefield. This year was the only exception.

Secretary Jin carefully said: “However, the dragon clan has not given birth for thousands of years, so it is still not too bad for the marshal.”

“Ding dong!”

There was a message sound, which startled Secretary Jin.

The little adjutant was timid: “It’s the marshal’s.”

Secretary Jin nodded. She had to go to the training base to find Lu Shifeng. At this time, she could only go in with determination.

“Boom!”

There was the sound of the ground cracking as the door was opened.

Secretary Jin was panicking in her heart, but she was used to being calm on the front. She walked along the ground that was still unbroken: “Marshal, you called me for something?”

Lu Shifeng sat on the chair. The man’s uniform was still meticulous but the training ground looked like it was about to be finished. All the tiles were cracked and the equipment was broken. The perpetrator of everything was so calm as if he was just sipping tea.

Lu Shifeng said, “Go and tell Jian Luo that the meals in the future will be changed. Let him make more to deliver.”

Secretary Jin was taken aback: “A second meal?”

“Can’t you do that?” Lu Shifeng lifted his eyelids to look at her. Those blood-red eyes became scarlet after they shifted and she trembled, scared.

Secretary Jin was afraid but she held her courage: “Of course it’s okay, but the contract with Jian Luo was not signed like this, so he can’t always stay at the military base. He has to go back at night.”

And……

It was a temporary contract. Jian Luo was not a regular employee.

But Secretary Jin dared not say this.

Lu Shifeng said: “I don’t need him at night. Let him bring it to me during the day.”

“Okay… um?” Secretary Jin was taken aback: “Don’t I always bring the meals to you?”

Lu Shifeng frowned, a little displeased: “He doesn’t want to deliver the meals he cooks. Are you his secretary?”

“…”

That’s not what I meant.

Secretary Jin was a little aggrieved, but she didn’t dare to say more. These days, Lu Shifeng was in the manic period and he was really someone who could eat people.

She responded quickly: “Yes, yes, yes. I will carry it out well.”

Lu Shifeng closed his eyelids. The ancient blood of the dragon race was surging in his body. The stronger the dragon race, the more difficult it would be to suppress his mania. He could either rely on violence to vent, or be relieved by his partner only. In fact, his manic period came a little early but he found a way to suppress it.

“Go let him cook and deliver it.” Lu Shifeng ordered.

Jian Luo’s meals had the ability to promote the secretion of dopamine and also suppress the wild instinct of the dragon race. Lu Shifeng thought it was because of the meals, but it was not until he met Jian Luo that he realized that this aura came from Jian Luo himself.

He needed to see Jian Luo.

Secretary Jin didn’t know that she was going to hurt her colleague: “He won’t come today, he’s on leave.”

Lu Shifeng’s face was as dark as the bottom of a pot: “Why did he ask for a leave again?”

“…”

Secretary Jin shivered.

Suddenly, she activated her witty brain and thought up an excuse: “Marshal, although Jian Luo has taken a leave today, I know that he will have a live broadcast in a bit. His live broadcasting room will feature holographic sharing so if you watch the live broadcast, it is equivalent to being able to taste his food!”

Lu Shifeng lifted his eyelids: “Watch his cooking?”

Secretary Jin was at a loss again. She hesitated: “Um, you don’t want to watch it?”

Lu Shifeng didn’t care about this, he asked, “Can you see the person?”

“…”

I have never heard of such a request.

Chapter 30 – So this was how the Qi family’s daughters-in-law are brought in

Chapter 30 – So this was how the Qi family’s daughters-in-law are brought in

Xue Qing opened the door of the cab, watching as Xing Zhongwan got into the car. Placing both hands on the door, she looked at him. Her handsome face was less carefree now and more serious, “Don’t you think that this is weird?”

Xing Zhongwan started the car, “It is weird. I still can’t find any clues but I’m taking it one step at a time. It’s a fake marriage anyway. I’ll move my mother back first.”

Xue Qing stared at Xing Zhongwan and saw that he looked unsure.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

Xue Qing squeezed herself into the driver’s seat, “Be honest, are you interested in Qi Yun? We’ve been good friends for so many years. Tell me so I can give you my take on things.”

Xing Zhongwan pushed her away in disgust, “Move aside. Laozi might be doing something stupid now, but my mind is not confused. It’s impossible for me and Qi Yun.”

Xue Qing snorted. His words were harsh but who would secretly take some dumpling back to give that somebody a taste. It’s not like Qi Yun has never eaten any delicious food before.

He took out a bottle of perfume from her pocket and threw it over, “Hey, when I came, that sissy asked me to bring this to you. He said the old you would’ve quickly used it up. Don’t you think he’s being a little pretentious, nagging you on how you should use this perfume.”

Xing Zhongwan took the bottle of perfume. “You should learn more from Lao Cheng, then your heart will become more delicate.”

Xue Qing rolled her eyes, “He’s your general manager. If he’s not careful or delicate, who will be? Hurry up and go now, else your Qi Yun will cry later.”

Xing Zhongwan swore at her before slamming the door heavily. He then stomped on the accelerator and drove away.

As soon as Xing Zhongwan entered the villa, he saw that Qi Yun was dressed neatly and already waiting for him at the door. Xing Zhongwan got out of the car and asked about the strangeness, “Is there anything happening today? Why are you wearing… such formal attire?”

Qi Yun looked indifferent. He then saw a familiar face, it was Madam Qi’s secretary.

“Young madam, today is the day for you and the third young master to register your marriage.”

Xing Zhongwan glanced at Qi Yun in surprise. So quickly? Was it too late to think on his decision before taking action?

After getting in the car, Xing Zhongwan lowered his head and said in a low voice, “Hey, what is your mother doing? They won’t really take us to the marriage registration office, will they?”

Qi Yun turned his head slightly, “My mother is the best at acting, you might as well enjoy this play.”

Xing Zhongwan thought to himself, I’m afraid that in your mother’s eyes, we’re the ones in the play.

Qi Yun turned his body sideways, leaned on Xing Zhongwan, closed his eyes, the scent of pine wood on his body was stronger tonight and it smelled very comforting.

Xing Zhongwan leaned to the side subconsciously. The embarrassment from this morning had not subsided and now he has to go to a fake marriage. Xing Zhongwan felt that his brain was really broken.

Suddenly remembering that there was a Chinese mugwort dumpling in his pocket, he took it out and tapped on Qi Yun’s arm, “Hey, do you want to eat some? These mugwort dumplings are delicious.”

Qi Yun listened to that voice speak like it was offering treasures and curiously straightened his body before taking the unidentified object with a soft fragrance in his hand…

He opened his mouth and took a small bite. Xing Zhongwan looked expectantly, “Is it delicious?” Qi Yun nodded, “It has a special taste.”

Xing Zhongwan smiled and said, “It still doesn’t taste as good as the Jiangnan main store. The Chinese mugwort dumplings in the main store have a strong aroma, but they are delicious. I really want to go back and eat a few.”

Hearing what he said, Qi Yun hurriedly picked it up and took a big bite, “When things have ended here, we’ll go to Jiangnan to live for a while.”

Xing Zhongwan turned around in surprise, “Why?”

Qi Yun said, “Listening to the local accent from your mouth made me really want to go see the place where you once lived.”

Xing Zhongwan was stunned for a moment. After staring at the sesame foam sticking to Qi Yun’s mouth for some time, he took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped it gently for him.

After he finished wiping, Xing Zhongwan felt a little embarrassed. His actions felt a little ambiguous. Putting the handkerchief back into his pocket, he grabbed the half-eaten mugwort dumpling in Qi Yun’s hand, “You don’t have to finish it if you don’t like it.” He shoved it into his own mouth, only to find out that something felt off after he finished chewing it, so he could only swallow it. When doing so, he accidentally choked and couldn’t help but beat on his chest a few times. Qi Yun frowned, “What’s wrong?” Xing Zhongwan coughed for a long time before finally swallowing it successfully, his eyes turning red.

Qi Yun handed the thermos cup that was originally prepared for him to Xing Zhongwan, “Drink some water.”

Xing Zhongwan took it, opened the lid and took a sip. Qi Yun patted him on the back, “Why are you so careless?”

Xing Zhongwan closed the lid with a guilty conscience, looking at the faint worry on Qi Yun’s face, he didn’t know what to feel.

Qi Yun still knew his mother very well. She really was a good actor. As expected, she came to the marriage registration office, but it was only held in the VIP room. Someone was already waiting inside and the documents were already prepared. They just had to sign the documents. Xing Zhongwan read the marriage registration application very carefully. He even followed through with the procedure seriously.

It’s just that on his page, his actual name was not written on it. There were only two words, ‘Wanwan’. Plus, the gender column was also left blank. Xing Zhongwan felt that it was funny. Madam Qi, you are pretending to play family in this official department. You’re so arrogant, is the director of marriage registration aware of this?

Xing Zhongwan wrote the words ‘Wanwan’ in the blank space for his signature and couldn’t help laughing while writing it down. After signing, Qi Yun held the pen with a serious expression. Xing Zhongwan smiled and walked to his side, guiding his hand to the blank space for signing, “Come, sign it here.”

Qi Yun nodded and signed his name very solemnly.

When the two came out of the marriage registration office, Qi Yun held the document bag containing their marriage agreement firmly to his chest.

Xing Zhongwan was puzzled, “It’s just waste paper, why are you holding onto it so tightly?”

Qi Yun’s hands stroked the rough document bag, “This is not waste paper, one day I will make it real.”

The smile on Xing Zhongwan’s mouth gradually disappeared and he coughed awkwardly, “What did you promise your mother for her to be willing to play along with you like this?”

Qi Yun looked ahead, the corners of his mouth curved slightly, “Wanwan, this is just the beginning.”

Qi Yun returned to the villa and asked Xing Zhongwan to put the document bag in the safe. Xing Zhongwan closed the safe, “It’s not some valuable thing, is this necessary?”

Qi Yun lay on the bed and said, “It’s very important.” Xing Zhongwan didn’t want to discuss the importance of a few pieces of waste paper with him and stretched before going downstairs to get something to eat.

Qi Yun stopped him, “Wanwan, it was for real when I said we would go to Jiangnan. We will leave the day after tomorrow. I have asked Chen Ying to contact the hospital there. I can go to the hospital there for rehabilitation.”

Xing Zhongwan thought that he heard wrongly, “We’re really going? I thought you were joking.” As the Qingming Festival was approaching, he could also go back and worship his mother.

“Will your mother let you leave?”

Xing Zhongwan expressed the doubts in his heart.

Qi Yun said, “Wanwan, help me up.”

Xing Zhongwan went to help him up and Qi Yun leaned against the bedside, “You know why she agreed to let me marry you?”

Xing Zhongwan shook his head. He really didn’t know, although he was curious.

“If you were a woman, you might not be in this world anymore. Who is the fourth young master,  Qi? I know too well that someone useless won’t be able to hold up his own fight. My mother can’t rely on him, he is just a shield. What she needs most now is someone who can provide her an heir who she can control and this heir should preferably have the blood of the Shen family. My grandfather has too many grandchildren so this is the only edge she has in order to stabilize her power. “

Qi Yun stopped looking in Xing Zhongwan’s direction.

“I was abandoned by her. She will not place her hopes on me, but on my child. My child’s mother must be someone she personally picked to hold in the palm of her hand. Your sister Xing Zhongjie didn’t run away on purpose. When she made a deal with Xing Zhengping, she specified that she did not want a woman.”

“You can’t give birth to a child. Moreover, I like you. She went through with this farce just to appease my heart and earn my obedience in the future.”

Xing Zhongwan frowned, “Qi Yun, your deal with your mother is to give her a child?”

Qi Yun stretched out his hand and the bandaged hands stayed still in the air, waiting for Xing Zhongwan. Xing Zhongwan was stunned for a moment before taking a few steps to hold it.

Only then did Qi Yun’s face show a hint of relief, “I have to protect you, Wanwan, or she will take action against you sooner or later. You gain some and lose some. You should understand this truth.”

Xing Zhongwan’s face was gloomy and he could feel the cold hand he was holding through the bandage, “You have come to a decision so I can’t say anything. I will accompany you through this storm. Right now, I’m going to go downstairs to get you something to eat. Want to go together?”

Qi Yun nodded. Xing Zhongwan bent down and let Qi Yun climb onto his back. He couldn’t help saying, “Qi Yun, you’ve sunk low.”

Qi Yun put her arms around Xing Zhongwan’s neck, “Wanwan, I’ll have surgery after we return from Jiangnan. I want to see you. I want to see you so bad that I’m going crazy. My Wanwan must be the most beautiful person in the world.”

Xing Zhongwan was amused by him, “You’re right, I am good-looking, but not as good-looking as you. You look like when you were young. When I think about it now, I…”

Qi Yun snorted, “Have you seen me when I was younger?”

Xing Zhongwan was shocked and realized that he had run his mouth, “How is that possible? I was only imagining what you looked like when you were young. Hey, what do you want to eat tonight?”

He was quickly trying to find another topic to talk about.

The dirty little boy flashed in Qi Yun’s mind inexplicably. It was only for a moment before he had completely forgotten what the child looked like.

“When I’m healed, I’ll carry you through the path of Sycamore trees of our Qi family’s old house. All the daughter-in-laws of the Qi family are carried into our house like that.”

Xing Zhongwan stopped walking and had a worried face, “Hey, hey, have you had enough? Carrying me? Through a path of Sycamore trees? Not to mention, daughter-in-law? You really don’t know how to restrain yourself. Be careful, I might toss you away.”

After saying that he was about to let go, Qi Yun was not afraid and even leaned on Xing Zhongwan’s back, “My Wanwan is not such a person, you will not leave me.”

Black lines appeared on Xing Zhongwan’s face. Qi Yun, where did you get your confidence!?

Thinking like this, he tightened his grasp on Qi Yun’s leg a bit and went downstairs steadily…

T/N: I want someone to romatically carry me through a path of Sycamore trees too… Realistically, maybe a mechanical crane would have to do the work in order to lift such a heavy load. When I think about it, perhaps it’s not such a good idea after all.
