Chapter 5

Hope always took a turn for the worse against our expectations the second before it turned for the better.

Suo Yang left and the rain was still raining outside. Shen Huiming sat there and continued to drink his wine with a napkin with a series of numbers written on it was laid on the table in front of him. Even on the soft napkin, he could see clearly that the man had good handwriting.

After the last sip of wine, Shen Huiming smiled and put the number in his mobile phone, then carefully folded the piece of tissue paper and put it in his suit pocket.

He took a taxi back to the hotel and sent Suo Yang a message before going to bed: Good night.

When Suo Yang woke up in the morning, the first thing he saw was Qiu Chao who hadn’t even changed his clothes.

The man drank a lot last night and was lying on the bed as soon as he returned. Suo Yang didn’t care about him and didn’t even help him take off his shoes, because it was unnecessary. If you drink by yourself, you should bear all the consequences yourself, and no one was obliged to take care of you. Suo Yang just closed the curtains, took another shower and slept comfortably.

Because of the late night yesterday and the return flight in the morning, the group hadn’t actually slept for a few hours.

Suo Yang got up and cleaned up and patted Qiu Chao, who was still drowsy, and said mercilessly, “I’ll leave you here if you don’t get up.”

With a jolt, Qiu Chao sat up from the bed and dazedly went to clean up, like a wind-up toy.

Suo Yang ignored him, sat while drinking coffee and picked up his mobile phone. Only then did he see the message that Mr. Shen sent him at three o’clock in the morning yesterday.

Almost no one sent text messages these days, and almost all his messages in the box were system messages, but Suo Yang was indeed a bit compulsive in this regard, and will not let any “red dots” linger on his phone for too long.

He actually didn’t realize who sent the text message at first. After all, a string of unfamiliar numbers could be anything.

But he suddenly remembered the mobile phone number he left for the man when he left last night and guessed that it should be the other party.

He didn’t save or reply to the message. After taking a look at the weather today, he finished his coffee and waited for Qiu Chao to go out together.

It was still 19 hours back, and when they landed on the territory of their motherland again, they even had to make a point of looking at the date to be sure what day it really was.

Qiu Chao yawned and walked beside Suo Yang and said, “Yang ge, I really admire you, you don’t get tired from all the tossing.”

Suo Yang smiled and said, “Drink less wine and dance less, so you are not tired.”

Qiu Chao laughed, “I’ve learned it!”

In fact, it was impossible to say that he was not tired. Suo Yang, who was seriously lacking in sleep, went home and went straight to the bathroom, almost falling asleep in the bathtub.

He came out of the bathroom after washing and heard the phone ringing.

“Yang ge, don’t forget the day after tomorrow!”

The person who called him was called Zhoumo, and he used to work for their company too. Back then, they were in the same group, and they often flew on the same line.

Suo Yang was not a person who liked to make friends. He grew up with few close friends and kept in touch with each other. He was one of those people who only had one or two close friends at a time, but when they moved on to the next stage of their lives, they stopped seeing each other every day and gradually broke off contact.

Back when they were still in the company together, the two of them had a good relationship. At that time, Suo Yang hadn’t bought a house yet, and Zhou Mo was still single. The two rented a two-bedroom apartment near the highway intersection together and became roommates for a while.

Later, Zhou Mo began to talk about a boyfriend and they met on the plane. The two decided to live together shortly after they were sure of their relationship. In order to for Zhou Mo to spend more time with his boyfriend, he finally decided to change careers.

Zhou Mo’s current job was introduced by his boyfriend. At first, he was the lobby manager of a five-star hotel, but he was promoted last year. After all, he was also on an international flight crew at the beginning. His English was good enough, and Zhou Mo was able to speak fluently. Now he was the sales manager of their hotel, specializing in some joint overseas sales jobs, and the salary was already beyond Suo Yang’s expectations. At the beginning of the year, Zhou Mo called Suo Yang to ask if he wanted to change careers. After all, a career change was the general trend for these people. At that time, Suo Yang refused, on the grounds that he had not flown enough.

As Zhou Mo was one of the few a friend who kept in touch with Suo Yang after resigning, it was natural for Suo Yang to be there for his birthday the day after tomorrow.

Suo Yang was quite willing to go. He rarely attends these gatherings. It’s better to relax, but one could never really refuse to socialise.

“I didn’t forget.” Suo Yang said, “I have prepared a birthday present for you.”

“What gift?” Zhou Mo was full of excitement, “A macho man?”

Suo Yang laughed, “Don’t let Mr. Cheng hear you.”

“It’s alright, I’ve been trying to persuade him to invite a striptease boy band to dance for my birthday,” Zhou Mo said with a smirk, “It’s a birthday party, you must liven it up.”

Suo Yang laughed helplessly and said nothing.

“Okay, anyway, don’t forget about this. There are a lot of people here, all of them are serious and close friends. My old Cheng has two friends who are also gay, and their circumstances are good. I’ll introduce you to them when the time comes and you develop some relationship.”

“Come on, I’m so busy, I don’t want to hurt people.”

“Busy is not an excuse!” said Zhou Mo, “It depends on whether you have the intention or not. Look at me, weren’t we just as busy at first? And what happened? I met my true love on a plane!”

Suo Yang sat on the sofa and laughed as he wiped his hair, saying that Zhou Mo was just lucky.

“It’s destiny, and I can’t stop it. Maybe your destiny is at my birthday party, so you should dress better then.” Zhou Mo paused and said, “Forget it, you’re usually handsome enough. Don’t be too handsome the day after, and don’t overshadow me or I’ll hold a grudge against you!”

“Who can overshadow you,” Suo Yang smiled, “Aren’t you the dancing queen? I can’t compare.”

The two ended the call with Zhou Mo’s triumphant laughter, Suo Yang flipped through his schedule again and reconfirmed that he didn’t have a job that night.

After flying back from New York, he took a day off before continuing to fly.

It was a short trip this time, and although it wasn’t much easier, at least he could go home and sleep at night.

On Zhou Mo’s birthday, he had a flight arrangement in the morning and arrived home after three o’clock in the afternoon.

He cleaned up the house, took a shower, had a quick bite to eat and was out the door by 6 pm.

He knew very well that he was going to drink this night, and he was afraid that he would get drunk soon if he didn’t fill his stomach in advance. Zhou Mo was a man who loves to party. It was his birthday, and his boyfriend must have let him get away with it, and from past experience, no one was likely to leave until they were drunk.

So Yang didn’t drive because he knew he was going to drink, so he took a taxi to the nightclub the birthday boy had booked, with a present for him.

Zhou Mo’s boyfriend was a businessman, and although the word immediately conjures up images of a middle-aged man with a pot belly, in fact, his boyfriend was young and promising. He was in his early thirties and he was unbeatable in every way. At the end of last year, he took Zhou Mo abroad to get married.

It was said that every man has his own life, and this was absolutely true.

Sometimes Zhou Mo found it unbelievable that Suo Yang, a handsome guy who made people drool every time he stood, was still single after all this time. He always sighed, “If it were not because you were taking care of me, I really wanted to pounce on you.”

Suo Yang knew it was a joke, Zhou Mo and Cheng Sen were too good to not be together.

Halfway through the drive, Zhou Mo phone call came again.

“My Yang ge! Where are you, old man?”

“Almost there,” Suo Yang glanced at the driver’s navigation, “Six hundred metres to go.”

“That’s really fast,” Zhou Mo said, “It’s okay, there’s no rush. I’m just asking, the people are not all there yet, it’s my stripper group that’s already waiting. I’m thinking about taking you to feel what sexy muscles are first!”

Suo Yang laughed, “You can’t keep taking advantage like that, don’t make trouble.”

“You don’t understand, these guys are having a lot of fun being touched by me.” Zhou Mo couldn’t help laughing, “Okay, okay, I’ll pick you up at the door, see you later.”

Within minutes of hanging up the phone, Suo Yang arrived. He paid the money and got out of the car. Before he could stand still, he heard Zhou Mo’s voice.

“Yang ge! Long time no see!”

It had indeed been a while since they saw each other. Last month, on Suo Yang’s birthday, the two originally planned to have a meal together, but there was an emergency over the weekend, so they hadn’t been able to make it.

“Happy birthday.” Suo Yang handed him the gift, “I’m not too late, am I?”

“No! Come on, let’s go in first.” Zhou Mo took Suo Yang inside, “Today, old Cheng took care of everything in this place. Feel free to make a scene, don’t worry.”

He looked at Suo Yang and added, “Okay, I guess it’s someone else who will make trouble for you.”

After they entered, Zhou Mo took him in and pushed the door into the huge innermost room, and Zhou Mo said mysteriously, “Old Cheng brought him here. It’s the childhood friend I mentioned to you before. I think he’s good. You can pay more attention and give it a go.”

He said with great excitement, then pushed open the door, “Everyone! Here comes the most handsome flight attendant in our industry!”

There must be a dozen or so people present at the moment, Suo Yang went in and said hello to Cheng Sen, and then he was pulled aside by Zhou Mo, “Come, come, sit here!”

At this moment, Suo Yang saw Shen Huiming sitting on the sofa while drinking and chatting with people. He felt a bit unbelievable. Two people met three times in one week, isn’t this a bit too…

Suo Yang thought: Could this Mr. Shen be Cheng Sen’s childhood?

If it was, that was quite a coincidence.

However, life was always very full of drama. Shen Huiming was indeed Cheng Sen’s friend, but he was not the legendary childhood friend.

Zhou Mo pulled Suo Yang to the man who was chatting with Shen Huiming, and introduced him, “Jiang ge, here he is, this is my good friend, Suo Yang!”

Shen Huiming raised his head and was stunned when he saw Suo Yang.

The man sandwiched between Shen Huiming and Suo Yang smiled and said to Suo Yang, “Hello, I’ve heard a lot about you, my name is Jiang Tongyan.”

Chapter 4

This accidental encounter was unexpected for them. The fact that two people met in such a way in the middle of the night in the largest city in the United States really makes you think of the word ‘fate’.

When Suo Yang turned around and looked over, he was completely surprised.

Shen Huiming returned to his sense earlier than Suo Yang, and said politely, “I didn’t expect to meet again here.”

       Suo Yang smiled.

Even though he had already taken off his uniform, Suo Yang still had the right smile on his face, and there was not much surprise in his tone. Compared with him, Shen Huiming seemed somewhat impulsive.

“Good evening, Mr. Shen.” He stood up straight and looked at Shen Huiming very calmly.

The more Suo Yang was like this, the more restless Shen Huiming became.

He came over, regardless of whether he would disturb the other party or not, and forced himself into Suo Yang’s night

“Why are you out alone so late?” Shen Huiming kept a distance to interact with him, not too far or near, and it was just right.

“I’m not alone.” Suo Yang replied with a smile, “I came out to play with my colleagues, I’m getting some air.”

Shen Huiming glanced in the direction he came from with the row of bars over there.

At the airport, Shen Huiming had already been rejected once before, and according to his character, even if they met again, he would just exchange pleasantries and go his own way. However, when he bumped into Suo Yang, he actually said, “Want to have a drink together?”

Suo Yang obviously did not expect this Mr. Shen to be so persistent. He could see that he was an arrogant person. Generally speaking, this kind of person would not give others the chance to reject him twice.

“Let’s go to that pub across the street.” Shen Huiming could see his hesitation, “I’m tired from the meeting I had right after I got off the plane today, I want to drink some and relieve my fatigue.”

Suo Yang didn’t want to go, and it was not that difficult to say no.

But he raised his hand and looked at the time, then said, “Okay.”

He seldom accepts invitations from others, especially from people he hardly knew.

It was just that he was also very tired, but he thought that it would be inappropriate for him to go back to the hotel first, which would spoil the enthusiasm of his colleagues. And he didn’t want to go back to that noisy bar, so the best option was to go to a pub for a drink.

It was just that the person he went with happened to be this Mr. Shen.

Shen Huiming was ready to be rejected again, but he didn’t expect Suo Yang to agree.

“Okay, wait for me a moment.” Shen Huiming turned around and went back to the car. He let his assistant go first, and said that he would take a taxi back later.

After explaining everything, he walked back to Suo Yang. When the two walked towards the opposite side of the road, the light drizzle entangled them, and the slightly cool evening wind swept around them. Shen Huiming smelled the scent of the other party’s body, a woody scented perfume that he had also bought.

The pub was very comfortable, and they sat by the window on the second floor.

Suo Yang sent Qiu Chao a WeChat message, telling him that he had met a friend and was nearby for a couple of drinks, and to call him when everyone was going back to the hotel.

Shen Huiming said, “I’m quite surprised.”

“About?” Suo Yang’s fingers gently rested on the wall of the glass, and he wore a seemingly affectionate but detached smile when he asked.

Shen Huiming smiled more sincerely than him, “I didn’t expect you to agree to come and drink with me.”

Suo Yang smiled softly, “I didn’t expect it either.”

Suo Yang picked up the wine glass, and Shen Huiming touched the glass lightly as he received the signal, and the two took a sip of wine each.

       “You’re flying back tomorrow?”

“Yes,” Suo Yang said, “I’m flying back in the morning, 19 hours.”

“It’s been too hard.” Shen Huiming asked him, “Have you thought about changing careers?”

In their industry, it was true that many people changed careers after a few years, and did whatever they wanted to do after that.

“No such plan for the time being.”

Suo Yang spoke very little. He almost answered whatever Shen Huiming asked, and the content of the answer would never be extended, and he would not give the other party any chance to use the question to find new topics.

This person lived a very cautious life.

Shen Huiming didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, he felt that coming to drink with him was probably the most careless thing Suo Yang did.

With this in mind, he picked up the wine glass and took a sip, and then stopped asking any more questions, and followed Suo Yang to look out the window and listen to the music in a daze.

The late night rain continued to fall, not getting heavier, but not stopping either.

Shen Huiming seemed to have never wasted time sitting by the window with anyone like this.

No, that was not really the right word.

He was indeed a person who strictly managed time and did not allow himself to waste even a single second, but during the relatively silent hour or so sitting here with Suo Yang, he hadn’t felt that time had been lost in vain.

Although they barely spoke to each other, and even only a little eye contact. Most of the time they were mostly silent, trapped in their own thoughts, piecing together some questions that did not need to be thought about to kill this long silence, but he didn’t feel that his time was wasted in the slightest.

He thought of the so-called ‘Romantic Fatalism’, the irresistible feeling that everyone experiences at least once in their lives, knowing that they couldn’t have it, but still falling into it.

“Is Mr. Shen here on a business trip?” Suo Yang finally felt that his long silence was a little rude, so he took the initiative to break the silence and pick a topic to talk about.

“Yes, there is a partnership to discuss.” Shen Huiming was very happy to chat with him about anything. “The other party is very difficult to deal with, and my head is all over the place after this day.”

Suo Yang smiled after hearing this, “It must be very hard.”

“It’s not easy for everyone.” Shen Huiming said, “If you want to have something in return, you have to give something. Just like if I want to make friends with you, I have to be cheeky and ask you for contact information. “

Suo Yang didn’t expect him to mention this again and showed a rare display of embarrassment.

He licked his lips and took a sip of wine.

Shen Huiming said, “Just kidding, I won’t force you.”

Suo Yang looked at him, put down the cup and said with a smile, “Mr. Shen, I’m a very boring person. Making friends with me… I’ll probably be the dullest person on your friend list.”

“You are dull?” Shen Huiming understood what he meant, and Suo Yang was just tactfully persuading him to quit. However, he still had to say what he should say, because Shen Huiming knew that since it had reached this point today, either he would never have anything to do with him again, or he would get Suo Yang’s mobile phone number smoothly.

The fate between people was also limited, and two people would not meet three times in a world so vast that one didn’t even know where the boundaries were.

       Twice was the limit.

The first time, he failed. Shen Huiming wanted to forget this person from then on, but God arranged a second meeting for him. It was like preferential treatment out of thin air and felt it was a pity if he didn’t seize this chance given by God.

“Are you saying that the plain water is dull? But there are people who have eight glasses of water a day.” Shen Huiming said, “People are different, some people like heavy flavours without spiciness, and some people like clear soup with little water. Can we say what is good and what is not? I think they are all good.”

Suo Yang laughed softly at what he said but did not respond.

Shen Huiming tried hard, but it seemed that there was still no result.

This was really an iron plate, and the other party was still indifferent even if he kicked his toe bones to pieces.

Qiu Chao called and asked where Suo Yang was.

Suo Yang said a few words to him briefly, made an appointment for the meeting place, hung up the phone and held the cup, clinking with Shen Huiming lightly, and drank the little wine left in it.

“Mr. Shen, my colleague is waiting for me. I have to leave first. Thank you for your wine. I had a great evening.” Suo Yang took the napkin on the table and wrote a series of numbers on it with the pencil on the menu holder, “My mobile number, good night.”

Chapter 79

Zhu Kai was discovered by the family gardener the next morning.

He was completely cold at the time, but fortunately, his hands were not tied too tight, so there was no poor blood flow.

Wang Ma was taken aback and asked him what happened, but he refused to tell him. He only said that Li Jianglin was not in good health, so no need to alarm him. At that time, Li Zhenran and Li Zhenzi didn’t come back. There were a lot of rumours among the workers at home. Some people said that Zhu Kai had tied himself up since he was already a nutjob.

Li Zhenruo thought he would call someone out loud, but he didn’t expect Zhu Kai to hold out all night.

The next morning, while holding a tissue to wipe his nose, Zhu Kai searched Li’s house up and down and even opened the door of Li Jianglin’s room to find him.

Li Jianglin had just eaten breakfast and opened his eyes to look at him, “What are you doing?”

Zhu Kai sucked his snot and said, “I’m going to find something, you can just sleep.” After that, he squatted beside Li Jianglin’s side, picked up his sheets and looked, but he still couldn’t find anyone.

This morning, he asked the doorman to make sure that no one came in or out, not even the car, so he began to rummage the Li family up and down, trying to find someone.

He even asked the cleaning aunt to open all the locked rooms for him to see. After rummaging through every corner, he was sure that no one was at home.

Then he went to the surveillance at the guard’s office, checked the surveillance while eating breakfast, and made sure that no one had been in or out of Li’s house that night.

Zhu Kai was inexplicable, where did that kid slip away last night?

Then he began to look at every worker in the Li family with scrutiny, doubting whether there was such a thing as a disguise in this world.

Li Zhenruo lay lazily on the armrest of the sofa and didn’t want to move. He was just wondering why Li Zhenran didn’t come back.

He already knew what he had learned from Zhu Kai last night, but he just wanted to confirm it. When he really heard Zhu Kai say that, he still felt a little uncomfortable, and he didn’t sleep well last night, and the whole cat was not in good spirits today.

       Li Zhenruo yawned.

He saw Zhu Kai dangling in front of him with his red nose all morning. He knew what Zhu Kai was thinking, but it was very interesting that even if Zhu Kai suspected that there were really ghosts in this world, he would not suspect him as a cat.

       This identity was so convenient.

He yawned again, rolled over on his side and accidentally fell off the back of the sofa chair. He didn’t bother to get up when he landed on the carpet, so he continued to lie on his stomach.

It was almost noon when Wang Ma answered a call, which sounded like a call from Li Zhenran.

Li Zhenruo got up from the ground, ran to Wang Ma’s feet and raised his head to look at her and “meow meow” to her.

Wang Ma nodded “ey ey” and looked at Li Zhenruo to make him quiet. After hanging up the phone, Wang Ma told him, “Your master won’t be back for dinner at noon. There are too many things on his side. He may have to work overtime for a few days. He told you to wait at home.”

Li Zhenruo was a little discouraged all of a sudden, he knew that Li Zhenran must be unable to get away from work now. Maybe it was possible to work overtime for a few days, but it was really uncomfortable for him to do nothing and just wait at home.

So after lunch, Li Zhenruo slipped away as if he smeared the sole of his feet with oil.

Li Zhenran was really busy these two days, and even Li Zhenzi added two days of overtime. Later, he couldn’t bear it and cursed loudly in the office.

When Li Zhenruo entered the office, Li Zhenran didn’t lift his head and thought it was Hua Yibang who came in.

Until Li Zhenruo sat down on his desk, took off his shoes and straightened his legs and stepped on his shoulders.

Li Zhenran raised his head and smiled at him, “Don’t make trouble.”

Li Zhenruo saw a large pile of documents on Li Zhenran’s desk, and the coffee cup next to him was empty. He was dressed neatly, but his face was a little tired, and with his foot on top of him, “So hard?”

Li Zhenran grabbed his feet and said, “Not that bad. If I want to take over again, I have to sort out the mess. These people can’t help me, and I don’t feel at ease.”

Li Zhenruo slipped his feet down and stepped on Li Zhenran’s chest.

Li Zhenran asked, “What? The estrus season is coming again?”

Li Zhenruo didn’t take back his feet, but just said, “Let me help you.”

He accompanied Li Zhenran to read the documents all afternoon. Li Zhenruo sorted out the one about the western project and explained the key points to him directly so that he would not spend time reading it again.

Later, Li Zhenran turned his head and saw that Li Zhenruo fell asleep beside the desk.

He put down the documents in his hand, walked over and carried Li Zhenruo.

On the way, Li Zhenruo woke up and looked at him blankly, “You’re done?”

Li Zhenran put him on the bed in the lounge and said, “You can sleep for a while, and I’ll call you for dinner later.”

“Okay,” Li Zhenruo responded, pulling the quilt over him.

Li Zhenran walked outside, and when he reached out to close the door, his cell phone suddenly rang. He took out his cell phone and connected the call, then went back to the desk and sat down.

Li Zhenruo was a little more awake at this time, and he heard Li Zhenran say, “He went to see those two people?”

He was stunned for a moment, Li Zhenruo sat up from the bed.

Li Zhenran continued, “Keep an eye on him, especially find someone to keep up with the couple and see if there is a way to hide a locator on them. Don’t be discovered.”

Li Zhenruo got out of bed, opened the lounge door and walked out.

Li Zhenran was still on the phone, he turned his head to look at him, and said to the person on the other side of the phone, “Keep an eye on them. If the situation is not right—call the police.”

When Li Zhenran hung up the phone, Li Zhenruo asked him, “Is it about Li Zhentai?”

Li Zhenran raised a long leg, turned the swivel chair to face Li Zhenruo, and said, “His biological parents have found him.”

Li Zhenruo was stunned and asked Li Zhenran, “What do you mean by calling the police?”

Li Zhenran frowned slightly, “I’m just a little worried all of a sudden.”

       “What do you mean?”

Li Zhenran said, “In the end, we don’t know how much Li Zhentai knows about this matter. We didn’t know if he still thinks that he is Li Jianglin’s own son, or not. So with his ruthlessness, it was very likely that he will be ruthless to his biological parents. “

Li Zhenruo couldn’t help but say, “Do you think it’s possible?”

Li Zhenran said softly, “I don’t know, but I led the couple to find Li Zhentai. I can’t see what happened to them, so I told people to keep an eye on them.”

Li Zhenruo thought about it and said, “Where are they?”

Li Zhenran stood up, “What do you want to do?”

Li Zhenruo said, “I want to go and see them.”

Li Zhenran took his arm and said, “No need to rush, be a good boy, and listen to me.”

They left the work behind for the time being. Li Zhenran drove a car himself and hurried away with Li Zhenruo.

On the way, he answered a phone call and the one who handle told him that Li Zhentai took the old couple away.

“Taken away?” Li Zhenran asked, “Where to?”

The person on the other side of the phone said, “The direction is towards the outskirts of the city. Just now, in the city, we were stopped by a red light and they got lost, but the locator was still in the old lady’s cloth pocket, and now it shows that it is still moving.”

Li Zhenran said, “Call the police and give me the address.”

Li Zhenruo was a little worried, “Li Zhentai won’t be serious about killing to silence them, right?”

Li Zhenran replied, “You forgot how he treated you in the first place?”

Li Zhenruo suddenly smiled bitterly, “Actually, I also want to help him find an excuse to prove that he is not such a heartless person. If he really did such a thing, I would not pity him, but just pity myself.”

When he heard him say this, Li Zhenran took him by the shoulders, pulled him over, and kissed his forehead.

When they arrived at the destination, Li Zhenran and Li Zhenruo got off the car.

This was a pretty desolate weedy area on the outskirts of the city, and you could see a large area of hills in front of it, and there were several small two-story buildings erected here and there.

A black car was parked next to it, and two people got down and said, “Mr. Li, Li Zhentai led someone to drive the two old people into the villa in front. We have already called the police, and said that someone was kidnapped.”

       Li Zhenran didn’t speak.

So another person asked, “Want to go in and have a look?”

Li Zhenran said, “Don’t go in if you’ve already called the police.”

Li Zhenruo suddenly said at this time, “I’ll go take a look.”

After he said that, he turned and ran towards the villa.

Li Zhenran’s two subordinates were stunned for a moment, hurriedly trying to stop him, but Li Zhenran said, “It doesn’t matter, let him go.”

Li Zhenruo turned into a cat in a corner that no one could see, then ran towards the two-story building, jumped up the window with ease, and looked towards the facade.

He was in the kitchen where no one could see or notice him as a cat.

For safety, he first disguised himself as a black cat.

Today, he could see his reflection in the glass window. Although at first glance, he looked like a sturdy black cat at first glance, his face was still round and flat, and he was not at all as imposing and handsome as his master.

With some dissatisfaction, Li Zhenruo ran inside.

His movements were silent as he walked into this empty two-story building. Before he entered the living room, he stopped because he saw the old couple, Li Zhentai’s biological parents, sitting on the sofa in the living room.

In addition to them in the living room, there was a young man sitting across from him smoking a cigarette.

The husband and wife looked nervous, and neither spoke. They just sat on the sofa, and the woman held a non-woven bag in her hand, which looked tattered and torn.

Li Zhenruo then turned and ran towards the stairs.

He went up to the second floor and heard voices coming from a room, so he got closer to eavesdrop.

Among them, Li Zhentai’s voice could be clearly distinguished, and he said, “Send the two of them away.”

Another young man’s voice, “Where to?”

Li Zhentai said, “Send them to a place where they will never come back.”

“Tai ge, where can they be sent that they can’t come back? Apart from sending them to hell, I can’t guarantee that they won’t come back.”

       Li Zhentai did not speak.

The young man lowered his voice, “Tai ge, what are you afraid of? It’s not the first time anyway.”

Li Zhenruo raised his head in shock. After he heard this sentence, he suddenly became curious about the identity of the young man. He couldn’t help leaning against the wall and slowly approaching the door, sticking his head out to look.

He saw Li Zhentai sitting on a chair in the room, and a man standing beside him, tall and thin, wearing a peaked cap.

He had clearly seen this man. It was this man who suddenly stopped him and asked him, “Are you Li Zhenruo?”

Li Zhenruo raised his head inexplicably, “Who are you?”

The man smiled, covered his mouth with one hand, and stabbed his lower abdomen with a knife with the other.

And now, this man was standing beside Li Zhentai and was negotiating with him to send Li Zhentai’s biological parents to hell.

Li Zhentai didn’t agree but didn’t refuse, he just said, “I can’t be here.”

Unlike Li Zhenruo, if the couple died here, the police would definitely be able to find a lead to Li Zhentai.

The man said, “Let’s go to other places before we do it. It’s better to be in the deep mountains and old forests to deal with the corpses.”

Li Zhentai still did not respond.

At this moment, the man said “It’s just, Tai ge. For such a dangerous thing, you should settle our account first.”

Li Zhentai looked up at him, “How much do you want?”

The man said, “Not much, two million.”

Li Zhentai sneered, “Do you think I will owe you two million?”

The man said, “That’s hard to say. Who doesn’t know that your eldest young master of the Li family is different now?”

Li Zhentai’s face would not look good, he said, “I—”

“Who?” The man interrupted him and roared suddenly. It turned out that he had inadvertently noticed the black cat hiding by the door and peeking inside, and immediately walked over.

Chapter 9

From that day onwards, the rain continued to fall for several days in a row.

Apart from a few familiar customers who came to buy cigarettes every day, Chen Yuncheng’s kiosk did not do much business. The rain made him restless, and he couldn’t even watch the TV very much. He spent much of his time leaning on the counter, looking out at the cold, damp street.

The rain stopped by the end of the day, but the streets outside were still very deserted. No one was seen passing by for a long time, and because of the gloomy weather. The sky darkened earlier than usual, and no light was visible before eight o’clock.

Chen Yuncheng came out of the kiosk, stood for a while under the dim street lights, closed the store door, and walked outside against the dry ground under the eaves.

After walking for more than 20 minutes, Chen Yuncheng turned into a gleaming street with many bars, each with its own dazzlingly lit sign. At night, the business was lively, and this was the gathering area for the X-ethnic people.

Chen Yuncheng entered a familiar bar. Even though it was said to be familiar, he hadn’t been here for quite a long time. When he entered the bar, he found that most of the waiters had changed into unfamiliar faces, except for the owner, who was still the same.

The bar owner’s wife was also a part of the X-ethnic people, but she was dressed no different from the local Han people. She sat at the bar and noticed someone approaching as she looked up and saw it was Chen Yuncheng.

She flashed a smile at Chen Yuncheng, “Long time no see.” There was a subtle accent to the Chinese language she used that could not be detected unless one listened closely.

Chen Yuncheng walked over and sat down in front of the bar, and said, “Yeah, long time no see.”

The owner’s name was Namu. She looked like she was in her late twenties and early thirties. Her bar had been here for some years and Chen Yuncheng guessed she must be in her thirties, but never asked her.

Namu said to Chen Yuncheng, “Why are you alone?”

Chen Yuncheng smiled and said, “Are single customers not welcome now?”

Namu smiled and said, “You haven’t been here for a long time. I thought you got married.”

Chen Yuncheng said, “I’m not married. I just opened a shop, and I’ve been watching the shop at night, so I don’t have time to come out.”

Namu didn’t continue to ask, but just asked him, “What would you like to drink?”

Chen Yuncheng said casually, “A beer.”

Namu turned around to pour a beer.

Chen Yuncheng also turned around and glanced around the bar. It wasn’t too late and there weren’t too many customers in the bar at this time of night, so he could almost see all of them at once.

He didn’t expect to find the two people that Long Zhanyu said easily. In fact, he wasn’t too keen on helping Long Zhan Yu find them. He knew that Long Zhanyu used him as an informant, but he didn’t like Long Zhanyu’s almost sort of coercive attitude. It was his duty as a citizen to report crimes, but it was not his responsibility as an ordinary citizen to find the suspects. So he could help if he wanted to, but if not, there was nothing Long Zhan Yu could do about it.

Chen Yuncheng picked up the beer mug in front of him and took a sip. When he put down the beer mug, he suddenly felt a little warm, so he reached out and unzipped the down jacket and took it off.

He placed the jacket on the back of the chair, and Chen Yuncheng took the phone out of his pocket. He saw a WeChat message from Ning Junyan with only a word that asked him, “Where?”

Ning Junyan hadn’t contacted him for several days, and Chen Yuncheng didn’t know why Ning Junyan suddenly remembered him today. Chen Yuncheng stared at the message for a while and replied, “Where are you?”

Unexpectedly, Ning Junyan sent him a photo, and Chen Yuncheng was a little surprised to find that it was the closed shutter door of his kiosk.

“Why did you come all of a sudden?” Chen Yuncheng typed one after another, “I’m drinking at a bar, come over and I’ll buy you a drink.”

After sending these two lines, Chen Yuncheng then sent his location over.

       Ning Junyan replied quickly, “Okay.”

Until he put the phone on the bar, Chen Yuncheng still felt surprised. He didn’t understand why Ning Junyan came to look for him without greeting him in advance. It was also so late, and he didn’t know why Ning Junyan was looking for him. Did he want to have a chat?

Namu had already returned to the inside of the bar counter. She was standing in front of Chen Yuncheng, with one hand resting on her face as she chatted with Chen Yuncheng, her perfume emitting a light scent.

She asked Chen Yuncheng, “Why are you still single?”

Chen Yuncheng smiled, “You want to introduce me to a girlfriend?”

Namu actually responded seriously, “I know a few good girls, all of them are from the X ethnicity. Would you like to meet them?”

Chen Yuncheng put his fingers on the cold glass outer wall of the wine glass and smiled, “Girls look down on me a lot. I have no money.”

Namu said, “We X-ethnic people are different, our girls are not so snobbish, and they are all about feelings. You are so handsome, so there will definitely be girls who like you.”

Chen Yuncheng said with a smile, “The men of your X-ethnic people are all tall and have deep facial features. I’m not really that handsome in comparison, I guess.”

Namu smiled back as she said, “I think you are handsome.”

Perhaps because it was not his mother tongue, Chen Yuncheng often felt that Namu was very direct in her words when she communicated, and there were not so many euphemisms and pedantry.

He thought about it seriously, if he really wanted to get married, he didn’t mind whether the other party was from Han or X people, but he didn’t want Namu to introduce him to girls. He sometimes felt a bit lonely on his own but was not desperate to start a family, and what exactly he wanted in the future was something Chen Yuncheng himself had not yet considered.

Namu chatted with him for a while and then left.

Chen Yuncheng glanced at the time. It had been ten minutes since Ning Junyan sent him a message. If Ning Junyan drove from his store, he should have arrived long ago.

He put down his phone and glanced around the bar subconsciously.

This time, Chen Yuncheng saw a tall man come out from the direction of the bathroom. He was walking alone to a seat against the wall of the bar and sat down and hold his mobile phone to talk to someone on the phone.

Even if the bar was dimly lit, Chen Yuncheng could still see the person’s appearance clearly. It was one of the X-ethnic people who Long Zhanyu had shown him the photo.

Chen Yuncheng picked up his mobile phone, secretly took a photo of the man, and sent it directly to Long Zhanyu.

Long Zhanyu immediately dialled his number and asked him, “Where?”

Chen Yuncheng said the name and address of the bar.

Long Zhanyu asked again, “Is he alone?”

Chen Yuncheng gave a soft “En.”

Long Zhanyu said, “Don’t alarm him, see if he has any contact with any local people later.”

Then Chen Yuncheng made another “En” and hung up the phone.

After a few minutes, Ning Junyan pushed open the door of the bar and walked in.

Chen Yuncheng had his back to the door, but when he felt the cold wind blowing in from the door, he saw Namu in the bar suddenly looking up, so he turned his head to follow suit and saw Ning Junyan wearing a black cashmere coat.

Ning Junyan’s appearance was too conspicuous. When he came in, many guests in the bar glanced at him, including the X-ethnic person who was leaning against the wall.

The man had just finished the phone call, and when he looked up and saw Ning Junyan, no one knew what he was thinking. The man suddenly got up and walked towards the door.

Chen Yuncheng saw him pass by Ning Junyan. Ning Junyan also saw Chen Yuncheng and was walking toward him.

“I’ll transfer the drink money to you by WeChat,” Chen Yuncheng said to Namu. He took the beer mug and drank the last sip of beer in it, grabbed his down jacket and got up, and walked over to meet Ning Junyan.

At this time, the X-ethnic person had already left the bar.

Chen Yuncheng walked up to Ning Junyan, and before Ning Junyan spoke, he grabbed Ning Junyan’s wrist and pulled him out, and whispered in his ear, “Follow me.”

Ning Junyan glanced down at his wrist and walked out of the bar behind Chen Yuncheng.

Chapter 3

How many times had this been?

Soyo couldn’t remember how many people had asked him for his contact details, not that he was being presumptuous, but he could almost confirm that this man’s intention was not a simple ‘thank you’.

Although Suo Yang dared not say that he has read countless people, but he understood the implicit meaning in human beings very well.

People were not as good at concealing their desires as they thought. Some people write desires on their faces, and some on their eyes.

This Mr. Shen in front of him seemed to be more sincere and a little more intelligent than some of the people before, and his method of asking for contact information was more sophisticated. In this way, even if he was rejected, it would not be too awkward.

Neither of them would be too embarrassed.

Suo Yang was still polite and thoughtful, and said with a smile, “You’re too kind. I’m just doing what I should do.”

After that, he wished Shen Huiming a pleasant journey once again, before he turned around and left.

Shen Huiming stood at the same spot without rushing to leave. His fingers gently rubbed the cut on his airline ticket holder again, his gaze kept falling on the man who had already walked away.

Suo Yang was not short. Standing in front of Shen Huiming, who is 1.87 meters tall, he could almost see him at eye level. The appearance of the other party in uniform reminded Shen Huiming of pygmy bamboo1. Even just looking at the back of the other party made Shen Huiming feel relaxed and it was enjoyable.

Is this the legendary pleasing to the eye kind of person?

Shen Huiming smiled and thought that this airline was quite good at selecting people.

Suo Yang had already drowned in the crowd of people at the airport. Shen Huiming, who failed to strike up a conversation, didn’t feel too disappointed and turned back to wait for the arrival of his luggage.

He secretly set a romantic definition for this flight—as a trip fling.

Although it was only his one-sided affair.

This is quite interesting, Shen Huiming thought as he dragged his suitcase out. A rose suddenly bloomed in his dull life. Although it was only a mirage that dissipated in the blink of an eye, his fatigue was swept away and he could go to the meeting in full energy.

Shen Huiming’s company had encountered some difficulties recently. Although it was not a matter of life and death, if this partnership could be obtained, there was no need to be nervous even if they did not take on new projects in the next few years.

But if the deal didn’t go through, then this project would fall into the hands of the competitors, and they would probably be suppressed for a long time.

It was precisely because of this importance that Shen Huiming came to talk in person.

Before he came, he knew which leprechaun he was going to deal with. Although he had a headache, he was well prepared.

Shen Huiming was taken to the hotel by the assistant who came to pick him up at the airport. He washed off his dusty body and changed into a decent suit. He looked calm and poised.

The two set off for the venue.

The assistant said, “Mr. Shen, are you sure you really don’t need to rest for a while?”

“No,” Shen Huiming said, “I understand that guy. If I don’t meet him first when I come, he’ll make sure to take advantage of the situation.”

Who was the target of the negotiation?

It was a classmate from his undergraduate days, someone who had once treated him as an imaginary rival in love.

Shen Huiming felt that he was wronged. At that time, he lived a little far from the school, and he drove to and from school every day, picking up other students on the way.

At that time, there was a boy who was quite close to him, but no matter how close they were, he was only a friend. Shen Huiming had no intention of being in a relationship at that time.

He had no intention, but the other guy had an intention.

Unexpectedly, it attracted the dissatisfaction of the rival.

Everyone was in their twenties when they were students. No matter how precocious they were, they were still young and naive compared to today.

Back then, Shen Huiming was not as calm as he was now. He was annoyed by a few words and fought with the other party.

It was the first and only time in his life that he had fought with someone. The two of them had a tie, and neither of them got any advantage.

Later, although the two were still classmates, they were almost on the opposing side.

The guy who was the main cause of the argument between them didn’t end with either of them later. In their junior year, that guy made a white boyfriend, saying that he enjoyed some fine lovemaking.

Shen Huiming smiled at this, but the ‘rival in love’ who had fought with him felt that he was offended. At lunch one day, he sat in front of Shen Huiming with a dinner plate.

The other said, “I’m actually not smaller than a white man.”

Shen Huiming looked at the other person in surprise and then both of them laughed.

Later on, they unexpectedly become friends, and the other party learns that Shen Huiming had no intention of being a rival in love with him at all.

If that was the end, then today’s cooperation was actually quite easy to talk about. However, the problem was that they then fell out again.

Like God’s will, whoever that person liked would take a fancy to Shen Huiming.

It was not that the other party’s conditions were much worse than Shen Huiming’s. On the contrary, Shen Huiming always felt that others were more popular than himself, but he couldn’t escape this curse.

Once after a drink, the two of them disagreed, but they didn’t quarrel, but the conversation fell apart and they never spoke to each other again.

       That was undeniably childish indeed.

After that, the two hardly contacted. Shen Huiming heard that the other party had been staying in New York, but he just heard about it. He didn’t expect the world to be so big and yet so small that they would meet again at the negotiating table.

When Shen Huiming walked into the building, he thought to himself that a fierce battle was about to begin.

Suo Yang and the others had a layover in New York and flew back the next morning.

In the first year or two, people regarded this as a so-called ‘company-paid travel’, where they could play wherever they stopped, but gradually, they began to prefer to rest in hotels rather than go out to play.

They didn’t toss and turn anymore.

When they arrived at the hotel, Suo Yang shared a room with a colleague. He was a young guy in the economy class, and his name was Qiu Chao, who also came last year, with He Tian.

This young guy was fun-loving and talkative. He usually talked a lot, but he was not a bad person by nature.

As soon as he put down his suitcase, Qiu Chao said excitedly, “Yang ge, do you want to play later?”

As Suo Yang changed his clothes and prepared to take a bath, he said, “Go ahead, I can’t toss around.”

“No!” Qiu Chao followed him to the door of the bathroom, “If you don’t go, I’ll be the only guy, I’m shy!”

Suo Yang laughed, “You’re still shy?”

“Why not! I’m super shy!” Qiu Chao leaned against the door frame of the bathroom and begged him, “Yang ge, let’s go with me, or else the girls won’t like to take me.”

Suo Yang looked at him, smiled helplessly, and finally nodded.

“Ouye!” Qiu Chao cheered directly at the door and was immediately locked out.

Suo Yang was really not a frequent visitor to a place like a bar. If he didn’t have friends and colleagues to show up, he would never come himself.

It wasn’t that he had anything against such places, he was just lazy.

And he didn’t know if it was because he had really gotten ‘old’ in the past two years. He began to prefer to stay at home quietly. Usually, he was busy and tired from work, and it was better to rest at home if he had time.

He followed the noisy handsome guys and beauties into the bar, most of them were blonde and blue-eyed white men and women as far as the eye could see.

Suo Yang walked last and sighed softly.

Even if he was going to a bar, he should have gone to a gay bar.

With a wry smile, he continued to walk in.

A few people came over, some for drinking, some for dancing, and Suo Yang was purely to accompany the guests.

He sat there casually looking around, drinking a drink that feel like much.

Occasionally someone came to strike up a conversation, it was all girls, and he politely refused.

In the second half of the night, it was too stuffy and tiring. Suo Yang couldn’t say he wanted to leave first, so he had to find an excuse to go out and get some air.

He went out of the bar and stood on the side of the road blowing wind.

It was September, and there was a cool light rain.

He walked along the street in boredom. There were far fewer vehicles and pedestrians on the road at this time.

       “Suo Yang?”

His name was suddenly called, and Suo Yang turned around.

He was surprised as the man get out of a car, and vaguely remembered that the man’s surname was Shen.

(Vol.2) Chapter 12 – Become the door guardian while I leave

Chapter 12 – Become the door guardian while I leave

The person outside the villa did not affect Xing Zhongwan’s sleep and he slept till dawn. He got up in the morning and simply washed up, put on some exercise clothes and went downstairs for a morning run. Before that, he connected his headset and dialed his secretary’s phone. Due to the time difference, Xing Zhongwan was used to dealing with his conglomerate’s affairs in the morning. While listening to the secretary reporting his daily appointments in an orderly manner, Xing Zhongwan opened the door and walked out.

The car was still there, as well as the people too. It wasn’t very bright in the morning during early winter after six o’clock. Xing Zhongwan put on a pair of earphones and turned a blind eye to the man standing at the door. He instructed his secretary with a few words to make some preparations before running around the community.

Shen Congxin leaned against the car door and bit into a fruit pancake. He felt that his cousin-in-law’s figure was really priceless. If only he could have half of his build. When he turned his head in disappointment, he accidentally saw Qi Yun. Seeing the man who hadn’t slept all night while acting as the door guardian, staring into the direction where Xing Zhongwan ran away in a trance made Shen Congxin swallow the pancakes in his mouth with difficulty, “Big cousin, we have to go back. It’s almost time for you to go back and change your clothes at nine o’clock in the morning.”

Qi Yun didn’t reply and just stood there in a daze. Qi Yun told himself not to be sad about Xing Zhongwan’s attitude towards himself because it was just a front, so his heart was very steady. It was okay to ignore him, as long as he could see him, it was fine.

Qi Yun closed his red eyes, he really should leave.

When he moved his already stiff legs and feet, the piercing pain hit him and he almost couldn’t stand. The bodyguard beside him stepped forward to help him but he was stopped. He opened the car door and sat in the car. His face did not look good as Shen Congxin handed him a thermos cup. Qi Yun did not raise his hand to accept it, but instead covered his forehead, “You stay and watch.”

Shen Congxin opened the door and prepared to get out of the car when Qi Yun suddenly changed his mind, “Forget it. Wanwan doesn’t like people watching him, let’s go.”

Shen Congxin moved his aching buttocks from sitting all night, “Big cousin, what if my big cousin-in-law goes back to country X?”

Qi Yun silently looked out the window. Shen Congxin stopped asking questions as this is what his big cousin is afraid of. If his cousin-in-law really leaves, will he chase him or not? He was not happy after chasing his cousin-in-law, but he was also unsettled if he didn’t chase him. Whatever he did, it was all wrong.

Xing Zhongwan ran back while the sky turned bright. The cars and people downstairs have gone. Wiping the sweat from his forehead, he entered the door passcode and entered the villa. Turning on the TV to watch the news, Xing Zhongwan took a bath, changed his clothes and came out in good spirits. He was just pouring himself a glass of milk when the doorbell rang.

Xing Zhongwan opened the door, it was the courier company. The dozen or so large boxes stunned him. He signed the order and asked the delivery man of the courier company who delivered it. Just as he was about to call Xue Qing, his cell phone rang. The number was an unfamiliar one, so Xing Zhongwan picked it up. There was some noise on the other side, but Xing Zhongwan was familiar with the voice of the speaker.

“Have you returned home? I sent over a few things you could use…I…have you had breakfast?” Qi Yun’s tone seemed to be deliberating for a long time, but Xing Zhongwan was not surprised that he was so quick to find his mobile phone number. This was not country X, so it was quite difficult to conceal his actions from him.

Xing Zhongwan felt very irritated while looking at the dozen large boxes, “First of all, thank you for your kindness, but I don’t need it.” After he finished speaking, he hung up the phone neatly and then called the community property staff to find a few people to throw the things away. The dozen or so big boxes didn’t even get a chance to be opened and looked at. He then got out his car keys and got ready to go out for a walk. He will be leaving tomorrow so he wanted to have a good meal. Just after he put on one of his shoes, Xue Qing’s phone call came. Xing Zhongwan felt funny. Why are you giving me a call so early in the morning?

“Laoxing, Zhong Gang has been admitted to the hospital and he won’t be able to come out for ten days to half a month. During this time, you should take care of the branch’s affairs.”

Xing Zhongwan stopped putting on his shoes and switched his hand to answer the phone, “That can’t be, he was still so lively last night. How did he end up in the hospital and won’t be able to get out for ten days to half a month? What’s the situation?”

“He has delayed his appendix operation until now for the company. Yesterday he was in pain and went to the hospital to get help. As a boss, show some conscience.”

Xing Zhongwan snorted, “What appendix operation? Is it so serious that he needs to be hospitalized for ten days to half a month?”

Xue Qing explained, “He hasn’t ever taken an annual leave for two years since he came to China, so you should give him some time. He needs a good rest. Don’t talk nonsense. There are so many people looking after the head office for you. But not the branch office. I have something to do with Laocheng and we are going to fly back today. That’s all, so let’s hang up.”

“Hey! Hey! Hey!” Xing Zhongwan looked at the phone blankly. Zhong Gang, you really chose this time to be sick.

Zhong Gang, who wasin very much pain, was indeed admitted to the hospital. It was true that he had dragged the appointment to cut his appendix. He had the operation last night, but he didn’t have the absolute need to rest for ten days to half a month. When Xue Qing called, he was pressed by Cheng Zhengzhe on the hospital bed as he listened to Xue Qing’s serious nonsense, who described his hard-working image, working for the company until he became so weak that he would fall if the wind blew on him. The only thing that made him happy was that Cheng Zhengzhe was next to his body. Being sick had its perks.

“Zhong Gang, during this period of time, you should take a vacation and take a good rest. If Laoxing asks, you can just say you don’t feel good. Didn’t you always say that this branch was treated like an adopted son? Let him watch over it these few days, and let Laocheng stay and take care of you.”

As soon as these words came out, Zhong Gang’s handsome face immediately lit up and Cheng Zhengzhe immediately jumped several meters away from him, “I’m leaving, I’d rather go to shit.”

Xue Qing lifted her wrist to look at the time, “Stop talking, I have to go. Remember, don’t let unnecessary words slip from your mouth.”

Cheng Zhengzhe followed closely behind her and Xue Qing was extremely disgusted, “Stay and take care of Zhong Gang.”

Cheng Zhengzhe’s face turned pale, “A nurse is enough for him. Is he such a delicate big man?”

When Zhong Gang heard this, he immediately covered his wound and groaned. Cheng Zhengzhe frowned and crossed Xue Qing to open the door before quickly walking out.

Seeing his appearance, Zhong Gang smiled bitterly and said to Xue Qing, “I’m not in a hurry, give him time.” Xue Qing really wanted to step forward and kick him when he saw Zhengzhe’s noncommittal appearance, “Then I’ll go first back first and settle some things. I’ll come back when I’m done. I’ll have to trouble you and Emma during this time. The matter of Qi Yun depends on Laoxing’s attitude, if he doesn’t say anything, we’ll just do our part.”

Zhong Gang nodded to show his understanding and Xue Qing then went to catch the plane with confidence.

As soon as Xue Qing and Cheng Zhengzhe left, Xing Zhongwan came in the afternoon and came to visit his good employee with a fruit basket and flowers.

Xing Zhongwan looked at Zhong Gang up and down. This man looked well to him although Xue Qing said on the phone that he was going to die. He took a deep breath, “You have a good rest. You can ask Emma to handle the affairs of the branch, as well as leave it to me.”

“Has boss gotten used to living there? Please tell me if you need anything during your time in China.”

Xing Zhongwan took out an apple from the fruit basket and tossed it in the air twice. “I really need a car.”

Zhong Gang picked up his mobile phone and made a call to his secretary. Soon the secretary came over with the keys and Zhong Gang handed them to Xing Zhongwan, “Boss, this is the key to the basement below the branch office. If you like the cars in it, please take them.”

Xing Zhongwan bit the apple and took the key unceremoniously before gesturing to him an ‘ok’.

Xing Zhongwan left the hospital and went to the basement of the branch office. When he opened the basement door, he couldn’t help but whistle. Zhong Gang really collected a lot of good cars. Xing Zhongwan went in and looked at the cars before taking out his mobile phone. He called the secretary far away in country X, “I guess it will take a while. Ask No. 3 and No. 4 to prepare to fly over as soon as possible.” In Xing Zhongwan’s secretary office, all of the secretaries were numbered for the convenience of summoning them. He thinks that since he has to stay with the people around him for a while, he has to be able to use them easily so his work efficiency will be greatly improved if he transferred the people from the head office over here.

Choosing a black 4×4 vehicle, Xing Zhongwan drove out of the basement and onto the elevated road. Xing Zhongwan frowned and decided to buy a car.

When he arrived at the 4S store, he was told that it would take more than a month for all the cars he wanted to be imported. Xing Zhongwan was depressed and simply called the secretary to have his car shipped by air. Only then did he decide on a place to eat at, with satisfaction. As soon as he started the car, his phone rang. Xing Zhongwan glanced at the number and didn’t want to answer it. But the caller obviously didn’t want to give up, so his phone kept ringing. Xing Zhongwan glanced at the phone’s battery and took it without a choice, “Hello?”

After a while of silence, a deep male voice came from the other end of the phone, “It’s time to eat. Have you eaten?”

“Don’t call me again.”

After speaking, Xing Zhongwan neatly hung up the phone and blocked the number.

Qi Yun stared blankly at the phone with a black screen before dialing it, but the line was always busy. As the secretary on the side watched his face get darker little by little, his voice which had been reporting on work also got softer and softer. Qi Yun covered his phone on the table. Who knew what he was thinking. The door of the office opened and the visitor said a few words in the secretary’s ear, before he signaled for him to go out with a smile on his face, “There is news from the foreign affairs office that the young madam has extended his visa period.”

Qu Yun raised his head. The corner of his mouth couldn’t help but tug upwards. If that was extended, does it mean that he won’t be leaving in the near future?

The secretary knew that Qi Yun was happy, “I heard that the young madam went to look at car today, but he didn’t choose any.”

Qi Yun got up and walked a few steps, his pale face was probably brightened by the happiness in his heart, “Call Shen Congxin.”

It was past 10 pm when Xing Zhongwan returned to the villa. He ran on the treadmill for half an hour, took a shower and got ready to sleep. He passed by the floor-to-ceiling windows and saw some people downstairs with the same car as last night.

Xing Zhongwan looked at the time. It was after eleven o’clock at night. Was this person not going to sleep? With a cold snort, he turned off the lights and went upstairs. He didn’t know that the man downstairs was stunned for a long time because of his figure passing by the floor-to-ceiling window.

Qi Yun was very tired. After a day’s journey, his body urgently needed a rest, but he couldn’t help himself. The urge to see Xing Zhongwan made his tired body extremely excited. He just wanted to watch him quietly, even if he did not see anyone, he just wanted to guard his house.

He took out the medicine bottle from his pocket, poured two pills out before swallowing them raw. Three months later, there will be the general election, and various events will follow. Qi Yun was considered young to be in his current position, and there were many people who were jealous and wanted to pull him down. On the surface, he has been promoted very quickly in the past few years, but only he himself knew how much suppression and how many conspiracies there were. He made it step by step, soaked in blood, and he was only one step away from the top. He should keep a low profile and not let people get a handle on his weakness but he didn’t want to. He knew very well who he was here for, fighting for things he didn’t like and doing bloody things for half his life. He was tired, but he couldn’t stop. Because his Wanwan is too good, he must have the ability to keep his current position if he wants to keep Wanwan. Qi Yun can only imagine how much resistance there will be for someone of his identity and Wanwan’s identity to be together, but he is not afraid of trouble. Xing Zhongwan was the luck of his life, and Qi Yun was willing to use all of his’ to get him back.

Xing Zhongwan got up early in the morning and was about to visit the branch office. When he went out, Qi Yun was gone, but what was going on with the dozen or so sports cars parked at the door?

It was not known where Shen Congxin popped out from, “Big cousin, you You want to go out.”

Xing Zhongwan pointed to a row of cars at the door, “What’s going on?”

Shen Congxin ‘hehe’-ed, “Seven days a week you can choose any car to your liking. If you don’t like them, I will change them until you like them.”

Xing Zhongwan beckoned to him while looking at the rows of very exaggerated supercars of different colors. Shen Congxin ran over happily. He was much shorter than Xing Zhongwan, so he could only raise his head to look at him, “Cousin-in-law, do you have something to tell me?”

Xing Zhongwan squinted slightly and those long and narrow eyes looked straight at him. Watching this scene so early in the morning made him a little riled up. Shen Congxin’s nose started to heat up again after being hit by this beauty.

“Change what you call me and we can still be friends. Do you know where to have fun at night around here?”

Xing Zhongwan really liked this child. He was happy-go-lucky which made others happy when they saw him too. He truthfully didn’t want to see Qi Yun, but there was no need to turn his anger on Shen Congxin.

Shen Congxin took a breath, “That, of course I know. Cousin-in… Ai, Zhongwan bro, I’ll take you there.”

Xing Zhongwan smiled and pointed to the row of cars, “Take these all back. Parking here will only block the road for others.”

After speaking, he turned around and got into Zhong Gang’s plain-looking 4×4 vehicle.

Qi Yun, you are too fast. When I wanted to buy a car in the front, you have already sent the cars here in the back.

He called Zhong Gang, “Zhong Gang, how many houses do you own?”

T/N: Yes. It’s exactly what you think it is. He’s going to keep moving around as long as Qi Yun pesters him. Well… pester might be an overly strong word to use.

Chapter 78

Zhu Kai came out of the room, looked around, saw Wang Ma in the living room, and asked, “Did anyone enter my room just now?”

“Your room?” Wang Ma was burying her head and sorting out the teacups on the coffee table in the living room. She heard the words and looked at him, “No, who entered your room?”

At this time, neither Li Zhenran nor Li Zhenzi had returned. Besides him, there were only Wang Ma and Li Jianglin in the family. No one should have entered his room.

Zhu Kai turned back and felt gloomy in the room for a while, so he walked to the living room sofa and sat down, raised his legs on the coffee table, and rubbed his fingers against his lips, but he remembered the claim he had received a long time ago. A phone call claiming to be from Li Zhenruo.

At that time, he thought that someone was going to put Li Zhentai in order and called him in the name of Li Zhenruo. Although that person knew something that others didn’t, he didn’t take it too seriously.

Right now, Li Zhentai was already like this, who was still pretending to be Li Zhenruo to provoke him?

At this time, Wang Ma suddenly hit him on the thigh, “Can’t you put your feet down? I just cleaned up the table!”

Zhu Kai hurriedly put his feet down and thought that it must be impossible for Wang Ma and Li Jianglin. There were still some workers in the family, but he didn’t know if any of them have received money to do this kind of thing.

But the handwriting was very similar to Li Zhenruo’s.

Was there really a ghost in this world?

In the evening, Li Zhenruo was lying on the windowsill waiting for Li Zhenran to come back.

In the evening, he deliberately left a note in Zhu Kai’s room, the purpose was to intimidate Zhu Kai.

Li Zhenran didn’t go home for a long time. After a while, Li Zhenruo heard the phone ring, ran over and pressed it with his paw, and found that Li Zhenran had sent a text message saying that he would not be able to return from overtime at night, so that he didn’t have to wait for him to go to bed earlier.

It seemed that Li Zhenran was entangled in work matters. As he thought of this, he couldn’t help but blame Li Zhentai for leaving such a big mess and making others help him clean up.

Li Zhenruo jumped back to the window sill and thought that Li Zhenran would not come back anyway, he would have more time to play with Zhu Kai.

That night, when Zhu Kai slept until midnight, he was suddenly awakened by the sound of knocking on the window. It was weird, like someone tapping a finger on the glass, and it’s very rhythmic.

Zhu Kai got up from the bed, turned on the lamp at the head of the bed, then got out of bed and walked to the window and opened the curtains. Sure enough, it was pitch black outside the window.

He opened the window and looked left and right and saw nothing. He closed the window, and when he turned around, he heard someone knocking on the window again.

Zhu Kai turned back quickly but still didn’t see anything.

Li Zhenruo huddled in the corner, with his paws on his chest, and his heart pounding. He thought that fortunately, he was a cat, otherwise, it would be difficult for such a big person to find Zhu Kai’s blind spot and hide.

Zhu Kai stood silently for a while and suddenly returned to the window to reach out and open the window, and in one swoop tumbled out of the room. The room was on the first floor, he jumped out and landed in the grass, stood up, and looked left and right.

When Li Zhenruo heard the sound of him opening the window, he quickly jumped up to a big tree next to him. At this time, he hid behind the shade and looked at Zhu Kai. He thought that he was fortunate enough to react quickly enough, or this time he really wouldn’t have a good place to hide.

Zhu Kai didn’t find any suspicious person, so he couldn’t help but walk a few steps forward with his slippers.

In the middle of the night, the back garden of Li’s house was very quiet. There was a tennis court in front of it, with grass and trees on both sides. The weather was cold, and even the sound of insects couldn’t be heard. The entire building behind him and all other windows were dark except for his room.

Li Zhenruo was lying on the tree, watching Zhu Kai walking towards the back, and suddenly had an idea.

He thought since he had the ability to use spiritual power to disguise a suit, was there any way to use spiritual power to change his appearance? He raised his claws and tried to wrap them with spiritual power, turning the original yellow and white colour into black.

It was just an attempt, but Li Zhenruo was surprised to find that he succeeded.

The black fluff instantly covered his whole body. He looked down and saw that his nose and mouth had also turned black. When he stood up, he was completely a slender black cat. The only thing wrong is that the nose still seems to be very flat. He raised his paws and touched his face, and found that his face was still very round, which didn’t seem to match the image of a beautiful black cat he imagined.

It’s a pity that he couldn’t look in the mirror here, but it didn’t matter, as long as Zhu Kai doesn’t recognize him.

Zhu Kai moved forward cautiously in the dark.

There were streetlights near the villa just now, but there were no lights in this area, and there were infrared cameras and alarms on the outer walls farther away.

He didn’t believe that there were ghosts in this world, and all the things that science couldn’t explain were just because science had not developed enough to perfection, so instead of going back and lying down and waiting restlessly, it was better to go and find out what was going on in the middle of the night.

The surroundings were quiet and only the sound of his own footsteps could be heard. Suddenly, Zhu Kai saw something running quickly in the dark. He subconsciously chased after it for two steps, and then something jumped on the back of his head from behind.

This time the force was not too light. Zhu Kai was originally thin, but he didn’t expect that he was slammed into the tree next to him and knocked unconscious.

Li Zhenruo watched Zhu Kai’s body fall softly, and couldn’t help but be stunned for a moment and quickly turned into a human figure and reached out to catch him. He always knew that Zhu Kai was an embroidered pillow, but he really didn’t expect him to be so useless. If he knew, wouldn’t there be a need to painstakingly become a black cat to hide his identity?

Zhu Kai was later woken up by the splash of water. He slowly opened his eyes, and after a while, he realized that he was covered with a black cloth and his hands were tied behind him to a big tree.

“Who?” Zhu Kai asked in a low voice.

Someone leaned into his ear and whispered, “I’m Li Zhenruo.”

The voice was so soft that he almost spoke in an airy tone. Zhu Kai couldn’t tell who it was for a while, he just sneered and said, “You are Li Zhenruo? Li Zhenruo died a long time ago, you crawled out of the ground?”

Zhu Kai didn’t believe that this was Li Zhenruo. If it was a ghost, why bother to help him tie it up to cover his eyes? Although he couldn’t see it, he believed that he should be in the woods behind Li’s house. There were surveillance cameras all around, and no one should be able to move him out without anyone knowing it.

He even believed that this person was someone from the Li family. He said, “Believe it or not, someone will come soon after I yell.”

Li Zhenruo leaned into his ear and said, “I believe you. Just scream, but no one can see me, and I will continue to come to you tomorrow night.”

Zhu Kai was silent, and said after a while, “Okay, you are Li Zhenruo, what are you doing?”

Li Zhenruo said, “We have been friends for so many years. Before, I have been scolded by my father in the past to help you. Why do you want to harm me?”

Zhu Kai laughed, “Blame your father.”

Li Zhenruo was not angry, he stretched out a hand and touched Zhu Kai’s chest, slowly touching down with some ambiguous action, and when he touched the lower abdomen, he asked Zhu Kai, “Did my Dad touch you like this?”

Zhu Kai’s voice suddenly turned cold, “Take your hand away.”

Li Zhenruo took his hand away obediently, leaned into his ear and asked in a low voice, “Have you been fvcked by him? You’re hiding deep enough, I didn’t even see it after all those years.”

“No!” Zhu Kai said, “Are you Li Zhenruo? You think of your father like this?”

Li Zhenruo said, “I know you’re doubting me, but I know more than you think, do you want to hear it?”

Zhu Kai didn’t answer. After being quiet for a while, he said, “Sometimes, I think the way you talk is indeed very much like Li Zhenruo.”

Li Zhenruo reached out and touched his face, “Yes, as I said, we’ve been friends for so many years and we are too familiar with each other.”

Zhu Kai turned his head hard and threw off his hand.

Li Zhenruo didn’t reluctantly, retracted his hand and continued, “For the paternity test, are you the one who obtained Li Jianglin’s semen?”

Zhu Kai said, “What if you know this?”

Li Zhenruo slipped his hand against his lower abdomen, “I just want to know, otherwise I will not be reconciled and will entangle you. In fact, there is nothing to hide. You asked Aunt Wu to steal the bloody tissue from my room, took my dad’s semen and handed it over to Li Zhentai. Li Zhentai then asked Yue Zijia to send it for a paternity test, and then put the test results in Li Jianglin’s office for Li Jianglin to see.”

Zhu Kai felt Li Zhenruo’s hands wandering around him. He got goosebumps and said irritably, “Don’t you know everything? What else do you want to ask?”

“Why?” Li Zhenruo asked him, “I thought we were friends.”

Zhu Kai sneered when he heard this, “How much is a friend worth?”

Li Zhenruo said, “Okay, it’s not worth much, but why is it me, not Li Zhentai? There is something you should know, right? In fact, Li Jianglin is unable to have a child, and he has no real son.”

Zhu Kai didn’t answer, just smiled to show that he knew.

Li Zhenruo asked him, “Why did you choose me? Not someone else?”

Zhu Kai tilted his head slightly in his direction, “I didn’t choose you, someone chose you. Do you know where the photos from Li Zhentai came from?”

What he meant was the photo of Li Zhenruo’s mother and his biological father.

Li Zhenruo knew the existence of the photo and always thought that Li Zhentai got the photo by accident. Now that he thought about it, he really didn’t investigate how Li Zhentai got the photo.

Zhu Kai said, “What else do you know? Want to know something? Let me tell you, Li Jianglin has never had sex with me. I remember when I was a child, I fell asleep several times and woke up, feeling him watching by the bed and touched me. At that time, I was very scared, and I couldn’t sleep well every night for a while. Do you think I should not hate him?”

Li Zhenruo did not answer his words.

Zhu Kai continued, “Later I found out about the photo, and Li Zhentai began to doubt your identity, so I found him and said to help him collect the materials for the paternity test, but he had to have someone to do the test, and he agreed. I got Li Jianglin’s semen, and I gave him oral sex. He was happy, angry, and guilty. He even went to cry at Zhu Yun’s photo, are you interested? Want to hear the details?”

Li Zhenruo said, “I’m not interested.”

Zhu Kai smiled, “Also, I didn’t participate in the plan to kill you, the one who killed you was Li Zhentai.”

Li Zhenruo shook his head, “I don’t understand, I’m no longer a threat to him, why would he still want to kill me?”

Zhu Kai said, “After you were kicked out of the house, your father was very angry. At that time, he put down his words in front of the three brothers and told them whoever was behind the scenes, that he should pack up and get out of the Li family with you.”

Li Zhenruo said softly, “Because I wanted to try my best to find out the truth, so Li Zhentai was afraid that Li Jianglin was really angry about this, so he asked someone to kill me?”

Zhu Kai said, “Maybe. After you died, your father really didn’t continue to investigate. He suddenly became disheartened and felt that sacrificing one of you was enough, and he didn’t want to continue to involve all the remaining sons.”

Li Zhenruo leaned against the tree next to him and raised his head to look at the darkness where he could not see anything.

Zhu Kai suddenly said at this moment, “Well, now it’s my turn to guess your identity?”

       Li Zhenruo looked at him.

Zhu Kai smiled, “You are the boy next to Li Zhenran, right? With the same name as Li Zhenruo, Jason?”

Li Zhenruo neither admitted nor denied it, and now he was not too afraid of Zhu Kai guessing his identity anyway. They both knew so many unspeakable secrets about each other.

Zhu Kai said, “You have a little bit of Li Zhenran’s perfume on you, it’s very light, but I can smell it. Your hands are very tender and your voice is very young. If you listen carefully, you can still guess it, right?”

Li Zhenruo laughed when he heard the words, and did not answer Zhu Kai’s words, but walked slowly outside. Whoever Zhu Kai called, no one could catch him anyway.

Notes:
In the past, I saw an NU comment saying that Li Jianglin actually r4p3d Zhu Kai and I was pretty anxious because even though Li Jianglin is like that I do think he was somewhat a decent and reasonable person. Well.. It cleared up in this chapter, he didn’t r4p3 but he did touch child Zhu Kai since he was similar to Zhu Yun. It’s disgusting but I guess that’s what a person who was left by their partners could do. Love really is a momentary lapse of judgement

Chapter 2

While his colleague gave a safety demonstration, Suo Yang was preparing for his next work. For him, today’s flight was no different from every other one before.

19 hours sounded terrible, but he was used to it.

He knew all the procedures by heart, to the point where he had developed muscle memory. He didn’t even need to think to know what he should do next.

Their company stipulates that they can be upgraded to first-class after flying for the specified number of hours. When he first arrived, he flew as much as he could and was one of the people who was promoted to first-class soon afterwards. During the same period, he also took on the task of broadcasting.

“Welcome aboard Huanxing flight AS5311 to New York. The distance of this flight…”

Suo Yang was sitting in the seat, holding the book in one hand and the microphone in the other. It was no exaggeration to say that it was done at ease.

When the broadcast sounded, everyone knew that the journey was about to officially begin.

Shen Huiming sat in a comfortable seat and listened to the broadcast with his eyes closed. At first, he just thought that the male voice was nice, cool and non-aggressive, with the right tone and speed. Listening to him, he suddenly remembered that the voice was a little familiar. He had just heard it just now.

At that time, he was not too far away from the young flight attendant, and he could clearly hear the voice of the other party.

       It was him.

Shen Huiming smiled, and thought that the person was just like his voice.

He began to think about how to strike up a conversation,  or at least find a reason to leave his contact details with each other.

But this kind of thing was not easy for him at all. He was a person an energetic person with great ability at the negotiation table, but he becomes timid in this kind of thing.

Although he had grown up with a privileged life since childhood, he was not the good-for-nothing young man from wealthy parents type at all. He had never done anything like striking up a conversation with someone, so he had no experience.

If the plane hadn’t taken off at this moment, he could have turned on his mobile phone and called his cousin who was an expert in love to ask for an experience, but the plane had already started to glide, and he was too late.

Shen Huiming opened his eyes and looked out the window, everything at the airport was rapidly receding.

It was hard to say whether he would have a chance to talk to the other side during the next 19 hours of flight.

How to exchange contact information with an unfamiliar flight attendant in a reasonable, polite and dignified manner had become the most important issue for Shen Huiming today.

After the plane entered the stratosphere, the flight attendants began the cabin service.

There were only eight seats in this plane’s first-class, and it was not full, so the service was not so stressful.

Suo Yang began to ask the passengers’ needs one by one from the front.

Shen Huiming felt that this was probably a good opportunity. When he heard the other party ask softly what other people needed, he had already begun to plan his next move.

When Suo Yang came over, the man in front of Suo Yang seemed to be thinking about something. He then asked him softly, “Hello sir, can I get you something to eat?”

Shen Huiming was clearly in a daze. He was thinking from the start that the flight attendant was switching to his frequency. Before boarding the plane, he was looking at a contract, and by now he was pondering about the content of the contract.

Suo Yang’s voice was just right, the tone and volume are just right, and the speech was not bad. He was not calling out to Shen Huiming for him to answer him and didn’t suddenly disturb and startle him.

As a family of businessmen, Shen Huiming grew up in a crowd of people. He knew how to treat people and deal with others. He understood all too well that there were some elites around him, no matter how good his ability at work was, at least he had enough emotional intelligence when it comes to getting along with others.

But he rarely met a person like this flight attendant. Everything was just right with him. It was as if there was a ruler in this person’s world. Even a smile, a speech, and even a look were measured to the right degree.

This kind of person was the best and most difficult person to deal with.

Shen Huiming’s interest was sparked一from his appearance to his personality.

He took the menu handed over by the other party, and at the same time glanced casually at the badge pinned on the man’s uniform.

Shen Huiming saw his name clearly: Suo Yang.

He restrained his smile and calmly flipped through the menu while quickly making his selection.

Because it was an early flight, Shen Huiming, who was a little tired, said after ordering breakfast, “Give me a cup of black coffee first, thank you.”

Suo Yang smiled lightly, “Sir, drinking coffee on an empty stomach will stimulate the stomach and may also cause a rapid heartbeat.”

Shen Huiming was the kind of person who had a cup of coffee first thing in the morning when he woke up. This habit had been maintained for more than ten years. Before going out this morning, for fear it would be inconvenient, he didn’t drink at home, but he made up for it when he got to the airport.

He was tempted to joke with the other party, and just say: Not on an empty stomach, I already have a cup in my stomach.

But when he thought about it, he let it go and said with a smile, “Okay then, I’ll listen to you, I’ll drink it after a meal.”

Suo Yang smiled at him, “Okay, please wait a moment.”

After Suo Yang left, Shen Huiming breathed a sigh of relief.

He had never felt nervous when he was with a person, but it had just happened.

He smiled self-deprecatingly, then closed his eyes.

Suo Yang has always been meticulous in his work. He carefully checked the needs of each passenger and then delivered them one by one.

“Sir, your breakfast.” Suo Yang placed the breakfast on the table in front of Shen Huiming, and even the angles of the individual small plates were surprisingly consistent.

Shen Huiming couldn’t hold back and asked, “Do you have obsessive-compulsive disorder?”

Suo Yang was startled and looked at him in confusion.

“Ah, I’m sorry, it’s a bit presumptuous for me to say that,” Shen Huiming looked at him with a smile, “I just think you are very meticulous.”

He pointed to the plate, “Each plate is equally spaced..”

Suo Yang smiled at him, “It’s not an obsessive-compulsive disorder, it’s just professionalism.”

Having said that, Suo Yang straightened up. Still with the standard professional smile, “I wish you a happy meal.”

       He was hard to approach.

After Suo Yang left, Shen Huiming thought about him while eating.

However, it didn’t take long for his thoughts to return to work.

Suo Yang’s professionalism made him meticulous to the point of near perfection.

And Shen Huiming’s professionalism prevented him from spending too much energy on things that were not profitable.

After breakfast, Shen Huiming pressed the call button and asked someone to clean up the plate. This time he didn’t take the initiative to talk to Suo Yang, and the other party just said some professional words without emotion to him. Then after cleaning the table, he left with an empty plate.

Shen Huiming shrugged and felt that his love at first sight was likely to die.

As the plane weaved through the clouds, Shen Huiming looked out the window, relaxed his mind for a few seconds, then took out his laptop and started to look at the contract.

He had a very important partnership to discuss in New York this time, and his assistant had arrived a day early, just waiting for him to arrive.

The 19-hour flight was exhausting for ordinary people, but for people like Suo Yang who were used to it, there was not a trace of fatigue on their faces.

He thought it was an extremely unbearable journey, but as he focused on his work, and enjoyed rest and sleep intermittently, Shen Huiming felt that the time had passed quickly.

When he was about to get off the plane, he didn’t pay that much attention to Suo Yang, and only looked twice when he walked past.

He was busy and so was the other party.

Although he was curious and enchanted, for people like them, love did not seem to be a necessity, but work was.

Shen Huiming thought that the intersection between the two of them was limited to this. Before the plane landed, he once again enjoyed a soothing voice like an ‘ear massage’ on the radio, and then waited for the plane to land and parted ways with this handsome young man.

It was like he had put on a play himself and it was time for the curtain to go up, although he felt a bit sorry, life was already a pile of countless ‘pities’ and ‘regrets’, and this one was no exception.

At the end of the 19-hour flight, Shen Huiming was so tired that his temples were throbbing.

When they got off the plane, Suo Yang stood there to say goodbye to them one by one, Shen Huiming glanced at him, and the two smiled at each other.

It was still the kind of standardized handsome smile without any personal emotion.

Shen Huiming walked past him, ready to pick up his luggage.

However, while waiting for his luggage, Shen Huiming suddenly found that his ticket holder was missing. He recalled it and thought it was possible that he had left it on the plane.

He was already tired, but he had to get up again and walk back. He planned to ask at the information desk.

Just when he turned around, he saw Suo Yang walking towards this side quickly.

“Mr. Shen, is this your ticket holder?” Suo Yang walked too fast and was a little out of breath.

       Shen Huiming smiled, “It’s mine.”

He took it and said to Suo Yang, “I was just about to go back for it.”

“I saw you as soon as you got off the plane. However, you ended up walking too fast, but at least I caught up.” Suo Yang smiled at him, “I wish you a smooth journey, I’ll go back first.”

“Hey, wait a minute!” Shen Huiming stopped him subconsciously without even thinking about it.

“Your name is Suo Yang, right?”

Suo Yang smiled faintly and nodded.

“Leave your contact information.” Shen Huiming said, “So that I can find a chance to thank you later.”

Chapter 77

Li Zhenruo was sent back to the Li family by Li Zhenran early in the morning, not in the appearance of a human obviously, but in the appearance of a cat.

It could be seen that Wang Ma missed him very much, but at this time, she was really not in the mood to hug him a lot, and she just patted his head and placed him aside.

Zhu Kai was also at home. When Li Zhenran and the others came to pick up Li Jianglin in the morning, Zhu Kai just watched, but he didn’t say a word.

The few words he heard that night pieced together the incomplete and complicated relationship between Zhu Kai and Li Jianglin. He wouldn’t be able to know more unless Zhu Kai himself was willing to speak up.

But after a while, Li Jianglin was sent back. He was directly taken out of the car by Li Zhenran and sent back to the bed in the room. The doctors and nurses also followed suit. Their footsteps were messy, and Li Zhenruo was almost stepped on. So he carefully stuck himself to the wall.

Later, Li Zhenzi and Li Zhentai also came back.

Li Zhentai was not allowed to enter Li Jianglin’s room. Li Zhenruo squatted in the corner and saw that Li Zhentai actually knelt down at the door of Li Jianglin.

Not only Li Zhenruo, but even Li Zhenzi and Zhu Kai were a little surprised.

If he hadn’t hated Li Zhentai from the bottom of his heart, Li Zhenruo would have wanted to praise him for his ability to be so adaptable.

No one knew what Li Zhentai was thinking. In the past, he was the one who always could not maintain his composure the most. Now, he could only give up his pride and give up his dignity and wanted to use this method to exchange for Li Jianglin’s forgiveness.

Li Zhenzi was still leaning on crutches and sat on the sofa with the help of Wang Ma, while Zhu Kai leaned against the armrest of the sofa and looked at Li Zhentai without saying a word.

Li Zhenran was in Li Jianglin’s room, came out after a while, stood at the door looking down at Li Zhentai, and said, “Dad said he doesn’t want to see you.”

Li Zhentai didn’t speak, didn’t even look up at him, just kneeled like that.

Li Zhenruo squatted not far from him. He knew that this was Li Zhentai’s bitter plan, and of course, he would not feel sorry for Li Zhentai. But he felt that Li Jianglin was too hard-hearted, and since Li Zhentai really wasn’t his biological son, he could give him up mercilessly.

Just like how it was with him back then, did Li Jianglin also drive him out of the house with this mentality?

In his heart, they were probably not as good as Zhu Kai, the illegitimate son Zhu Yun gave birth to outside.

After Li Zhenran said this, he walked from the front of Li Zhentai. He walked to the corner and picked up Li Zhenruo, then walked to the sofa and sat down. He then said to Wang Ma, “Prepare more meals today, we will all eat at home.”

The family had been deserted for a long time, and Wang Ma had been looking forward to this day for a long time. However, she did not expect that when the second and third children came back, this kind of thing happened to the eldest again. Wang Ma was in a complicated mood, but she nodded and went to the kitchen to give some orders.

It was quiet in the living room.

After a while, Li Zhenzi asked Li Zhenran, “Second brother, do you want to move back?”

Li Zhenran replied, “Dad is not feeling well right now. Let’s talk about some things later.”

As soon as the word left his mouth, the phone in Li Zhentai’s pocket, who was kneeling on the ground, suddenly rang.

This situation was actually a bit embarrassing. Li Zhentai’s genuine remorse seemed to be interrupted by the ringing of the phone. He reached out and took out his mobile phone, glanced at the caller ID, and chose to answer the call.

They didn’t know what the other person on the phone was saying.

At this moment, Li Zhentai suddenly stood up, and said, “I see, I’ll go over now.” After he said that, he glanced at Li Zhenran and the others, and hurriedly walked outside.

It was strange at this time. What was more important to Li Zhentai than getting Li Jianglin’s forgiveness?

Li Zhenruo remembered something and looked up at Li Zhenran, but Li Zhenran just reached out and scratched his neck. So Li Zhenruo softened instantly and reluctantly gave his belly to Li Zhenran for him to scratch it down.

After Li Zhentai left, he never came back.

After lunch, Li Jianglin called Li Zhenran and Li Zhenzi into his room, and Li Zhenran took the cat in.

Li Jianglin didn’t seem to mind, and his mental state was better than when he came back in the morning, but he still looked weak. He asked them both to sit by his bed.

Li Zhenran first helped Li Zhenzi to sit down, and then sat down on the chair beside the bed.

Li Zhenruo was lying in his arms, looking at Li Jianglin lying on the bed. For some unknown reason, he suddenly felt that the other party was telling his last words.

Li Jianglin said, “You know everything about your eldest brother, didn’t you? I indulge him every day until now, but I didn’t expect that he would really do some things.”

Neither Li Zhenran nor Li Zhenzi spoke.

“You—” Li Jianglin first looked at Li Zhenzi, “Look at you.”

Li Zhenzi lowered his head and said nothing.

Li Jianglin took a deep breath and said, “If you don’t restrain your private life, you will kill yourself sooner or later. You Bo is not a difficult thing to deal with. If you change him to someone whose power is too powerful to be shaken by our family, then you would only tie up the Li family and die together.”

Li Zhenzi said softly, “Dad, I’m sorry.”

Li Jianglin sighed, “I don’t even know how long I can live. You can take these words today as my last words.”

“Dad,” Li Zhenran said, “Don’t say that, you will recover soon and live a long life.”

Li Jianglin didn’t answer his words, and just said, “I’ll tell you some things, second child, Yunlin will be handed over to you in the future.”

Li Zhenran’s expression was calm, and he gently stroked the top of Li Zhenruo’s head with his palm.

Li Jianglin then said to Li Zhenzi, “Third child, I hope you can help your second brother, and don’t stir too much trouble. Yunlin and Yunyi are originally a family.”

       Li Zhenzi replied, “I understand.”

Li Jianglin closed his eyes and rested for a while, then continued, “As long as Zhentai doesn’t lose the shares of Yunlin in his hands, he will have enough food and clothing in this lifetime. He is your eldest brother after all, so don’t drive him away and exterminate him.”

Neither Li Zhenran nor Li Zhenzi agreed with his words.

“As for Zhu Kai,” Li Jianglin looked a little dazed, “Yunlin has nothing to do with him, I leave a property for him.” Having said this, Li Jianglin paused, and then said, “Look at you, if you don’t take him as a brother, you don’t have to worry about him.”

Li Zhenzhi sniffed and asked, “Can we kick him out?”

Li Jianglin glared at him, “Have you considered me dead?”

Li Zhenzi apologized quickly, “No, Dad, don’t get me wrong, I didn’t mean that.”

Li Zhenran said to Li Jianglin, “Dad, don’t think too much, you will recover soon.”

A few days ago, Li Jianglin was not so much sick as he was sick at heart. He was so angry with Li Zhentai that he could not sleep peacefully all day and night, but he still endured and watched Li Zhentai come to this point.

He could come forward to stop him, but he was unwilling to do so. Li Zhentai, as Yunlin’s biggest unsettling factor, Li Jianglin thought that he must remove it when he still had the energy to spare. He couldn’t wait for this mess to drag Yunlin down after he was gone and make Yunlin the victim of the brothers’ struggle.

The fourth child being the first sacrificial lamb was hard enough for him.

“Zhenran,” Li Jianglin suddenly called Li Zhenran’s name, “I don’t have to ask about you and that boy, but Yunlin must have someone to inherit in the future, so you take care of your own business.”

Li Zhenran gently scratched the soft hair under Li Zhenruo’s neck with his fingers, “I know.”

Back in the room, Li Zhenran’s first thing was to open the window to breathe.

He and Li Zhenruo hadn’t come back to live for a long time. Although the room was cleaned every day, no one had lived for a long time, and it felt like the room had lost a little personality.

Li Zhenruo jumped on the windowsill and lay down, and looked downstairs. The swimming pool was still sparkling, and the blue water reflected the blue sky and white clouds.

He raised his paws and scratched his ears, suddenly feeling a little unreal. Li Zhentai was kicked out of the Li family like this, and Li Jianglin also accepted the relationship between him and Li Zhenran, and then what?

Li Zhenran came out of the bathroom, and while loosening his rolled up sleeves, he said, “Then, we are going to beat the drowning dog1to pulverize an (already defeated) enemy.”

Li Zhenruo was stunned for a moment, wasn’t that the inner monologue in his heart just now? Did he actually say all of it out loud? Did Li Zhenran hear that?

Li Zhenran walked to the window and raised his round face with one finger, “Until now, you still don’t know whether the person who did it to you is Li Zhentai or not.”

Li Zhenruo looked outside, then checked if the door was locked, then jumped to the bed and changed into a human shape, sat cross-legged on the bed, and said, “Do you think it’s Li Zhentai?”

Li Zhenran said, “I think so.”

       Li Zhenruo did not speak.

Li Zhenran asked him, “Do you sympathize with him?”

Li Zhenruo shook his head, he did not sympathize with Li Zhentai, but he did not hate him either.

The longer time passed, the more he felt like an outsider. As if all the grudges and feuds had nothing to do with him.

He sat sullenly for a while and asked Li Zhenran, “Who called Li Zhentai on that phone?”

Li Zhenran sat down beside him, “How do I know?”

Li Zhenruo looked at him, “Did Li Zhentai’s biological parents find him?”

Li Zhenran did not answer his question.

Li Zhenruo thought for a while, “If he knew that he has biological parents and that I am not Li Jianglin’s biological son, do you think he will know that none of you is Li Jianglin’s son?”

Li Zhenran reached out and pinched his nose, “He doesn’t know. If he knows, he will not give up so easily.”

Li Zhenruo was a little dazed, “Then what exactly does he know? And what is he planning?”

In the afternoon, Li Zhenran took a call and went out. Soon after, Li Zhenzi also asked the driver to take him out. It was estimated that they were going back to deal with the mess that Li Zhentai left in Yunlin. The brothers did not come back for two nights for dinner.

When Li Zhenruo was having dinner, he lay motionless on the back of the sofa and stared at Zhu Kai.

After eating, Zhu Kai walked the dog and didn’t go far. He just let Erhuang shit in the yard. Anyway, a gardener would clean it up. When he turned around, he saw a pair of bright eyes looking through the window. He looked at him carefully, only to find that it was Li Zhenran’s cat, what was its name? Oh, dumplings.

After walking the dog, Zhu Kai went back to his room and saw a note on the table, he picked it up and read it, it said: Zhu Kai, a friend for more than 20 years, you were together with Li Zhentai to harm me?

There was no signature, but Zhu Kai could see that it was Li Zhenruo’s handwriting.

He turned around suddenly, the room was quiet and he was alone.

Chapter 1

Article 1: Someone at 30,000 feet high must have been fiddling with our fate.

At a quarter past three in the morning, Suo Yang’s alarm clock rang.

It was the first flight of the month, and as usual, it was an international flight, with a flight time of 19 hours and a departure time of 6.15 am.

The flight was at quarter past six, and he had to check in at half-past four.

Suo Yang was accustomed to this kind of life—it always had nothing to do with working from nine to five.

He got up, picked up a glass of water, drank it, and took a simple shower. He then came back to quickly changed clothes and went out with a suitcase.

He didn’t even need to organize his suitcase, because when he came back the day before yesterday, he had already switched his clean clothes, so as not to be in a hurry before leaving again.

Suo Yang was a person with a very disciplined life. His rules were different from ordinary people’s. This kind of rule was formed under the perennial irregularities of flight attendants.

It was raining outside, and he turned on the wipers as he drove out of the underground parking lot.

Fortunately, it was not raining hard enough to make any difference to anything.

Suo Yang drove to the airport along a very familiar route and picked up a colleague on the way.

“Good morning, Yang ge.” The girl’s name was He Tian, and she looked sweet. She only came here last year. The two would occasionally be in the same crew, and Suo Yang would take her to and from get off work along the way.

       “Good morning.”

Suo Yang had worked in this airline for four years. Because he was handsome and easy to get along with, he could handle all kinds of incidents—from big flight emergencies to small emergencies such as difficult passengers. He handled it all well and was a very reliable person at least at work and everyone quite liked him, especially the new young girls.

The reason why it was ‘especially the new girls’ was that the new girls didn’t know him well and were easily fooled by the illusion of him being “easy to get along with”. In fact, he was the kind of person who seemed to be very friendly but always kept a safe distance from you.

After working for four years, the number of colleagues and even tourists who made advances to Suo Yang was no longer able to be counted by hands and feet. However, Suo Yang always politely and suavely declined, not giving anyone a chance to get close to him, even the opportunity to ‘start as friends’ was not given.

This guy was emotionally hard-hearted, everyone says so.

Suo Yang drove He Tian to the airport in the car, the girl sat in the passenger seat, and it didn’t take a while before she started to unexpectedly sob.

Suo Yang glanced at her in surprise, took out a tissue and handed it to her, “What’s wrong?”

“Thank you Yang ge,” He Tian took the tissue and carefully wiped her tears in the mirror, for fear of wiping off her makeup, “I haven’t slept all night.”

Suo Yang smiled, “Been working hard lately?”

“No, I’m just angry.” He Tian said, “My boyfriend cheated.”

       What to say about this?

Suo Yang had seen quite a few.

They were busy at work, they were not at home, and they have irregular work and rest periods. Not to mention boyfriend or girlfriend, even the married older brothers and sisters in the unit had experienced several of these kinds of incidents.

It was very heartbreaking and very helpless.

He Tian sniffed and said, “Yang ge, do you guys also care about a company? He said I can’t always be there for him, so that’s why he found someone else.”

“Everyone cares about companionship,” Suo Yang looked ahead, “That is not a reason for cheating.”

He Tian raised her head and tried her best to keep her tears flowing, “I told him the same, but he seemed to think he was very reasonable. It was the nature of my job that forced him to cheat.”

Suo Yang laughed softly, “Are you sure you still want to shed tears for a man like that?”

He Tian was startled and wiped away a line of tears that had fallen.

“Yes, he doesn’t deserve it.” He Tian gritted her teeth and said, “I was blind to be with him for three years.”

“It’s not that you are blind, it’s that he doesn’t know how to cherish.”

On a rainy day, the road was slippery, so Suo Yang drove very carefully.

He Tian turned to look at him, was silent for a while, and asked softly, “Yang ge, are you never in a relationship because you were worried about this?”

Suo Yang smiled again, “Of course not, it’s just that the time has not come.”

The airport was still noisy in the early morning.

On the way to the meeting with He Tian, Suo Yang said, “Adjust your emotions and ask questions before the flight so that you don’t make any mistakes.”

He Tian dragged her suitcase and walked beside Suo Yang quickly. She said”En” and continued, “Yang ge, I envy you a little bit.”

Suo Yang smiled and said nothing.

       What is there to envy?

       Not everyone is the same.

The period before boarding was the busiest time for passengers. Fortunately, the entire crew was well-trained, and all checks and preparations were done in a neat and error-free manner.

There was no time for small talk, Suo Yang was busy with his own affairs, glanced at He Tian who was checking the number of blankets, and confirmed that the girl had adjusted her state and would not go into work emotionally.

Everything was ready, and Suo Yang returned to the first-class cabin.

While waiting for the guests, Suo Yang suddenly remembered the question He Tian asked him: Is it because he was worried about this that he never fell in love?

       It wasn’t really the case.

The answer he gave at the time was that fate has not come, but fate was such a wonderful thing, whether it existed or not was another matter, let alone whether it would come or not.

He Tian envied him for not being tied down to a relationship and shouted long live singleness and freedom.

But when he came home every day, it was so cold that even the sound of his breathing was clearly discernible, which was actually quite heartbreaking.

       “Guests on board”

Suo Yang regained his senses and put on a professional and just right smile.

       “Hello, welcome to this flight.”

“Hello ma’am, let me help you.”

       …

Who in this world should envy who?

Suo Yang thought: Isn’t everyone living a hard life?

Shen Huiming’s aeroplane ticket holder was slashed by someone. It was a pure leather luxury brand limited edition, and today was his second time using it. The other party was a young girl, and what slashed his ticket folder was a charm on her bag.

The girl didn’t seem to notice that she had ‘injured’ something, checked the seat number, and continued to walk inside.

It was only when he stood up and looked back at the girl that he noticed Suo Yang standing behind him, he didn’t know Suo Yang’s name at that time.

A young flight attendant, with a tall and straight posture and a handsome face. His white uniform and black tie, made this person have an air of asceticism that cannot be played with.

Shen Huiming had seen many beauties, and those in uniform were not uncommon. The flight attendants of this airline were all handsome and beautiful, but this person alone made him forget what he was standing up for.

It was as if he was meant to see this guy in the first place.

If he had to say what was so different about this person from the others, Shen Huiming could only answer ‘his temperament’. He was not extraordinary, but when he looked at him, a cold light shone into his eyes.

Shen Huiming never believed in love at first sight, especially in the adult world where everyone understood too well what this word was all about.

The cliche sentence was not a bad joke, but the truth of the world—the so-called love at first sight was nothing more than a ploy.

It was a superficial person’s inability to resist a beautiful outward appearance.

Shen Huiming didn’t admit that he was superficial before, but now he admitted it because he was superficially attracted to this young male flight attendant’s appearance.

Don’t crusade against him because of this, this was also his first time in 30 years.

Shen Huiming had always had eyes on the top of his head. He was so arrogant that he was both liked and hated. He was also a master who refuses one who came along. It was a mishap in his life that such a person could be attracted to another person at a glance.

Someone spoke from behind, a sweet but not intimate voice, “Sir, do you need any help?”

Shen Huiming turned back to the well-mannered flight attendant with a slight smile and said, “It’s okay.”

He sat back down again, holding the ticket holder in his hand and rubbing his fingers over the cut hole, waiting to start what seemed to be a significant flight.

       It was very romantic.

Shen Huiming, who had always scoffed at romance, suddenly felt that he was trapped in one. He didn’t even know the other person’s name and sexual orientation, but he was already looking forward to meeting that person’s eyes.
