Chapter 50: Feather Touch
Long Ling carried his phoenix and walked towards the second floor.
Although he had no specific memories, he subconsciously knew the layout of this small building and the location of the bedroom on the second floor.
After a millennium, this wooden building seemed sealed by time, with all decorations intact as if untouched by years.
Long Ling entered the bedroom, elegantly arranged with a large soft bed by the window, its corners dr4p3d with light curtains, which made him pause momentarily.
At the same time, flashes of images crossed his mind—it seemed like thousands of years ago, he and the phoenix were on this bed…
Long Ling stiffened slightly, lowering his gaze to his phoenix—Su Muluo was still asleep, one hand unknowingly clutching his clothes, unwilling to let go.
A smile quickly crossed Long Ling’s eyes. Tenderly, he brushed Su Muluo’s forehead and gently laid him on the bed.
As the light curtains lifted and fell, Long Ling lay down beside his phoenix, reaching out to embrace his slender waist.
Unconsciously, Su Muluo buried his face in Long Ling’s chest, even in his dreams, clinging to his dragon.
Long Ling soothingly patted Su Muluo’s back, holding his phoenix close as they fell asleep together.
—
Su Muluo slept deeply, unaware of how much time had passed before he finally woke up.
Everything from the dream had faded away. He felt himself lying on a soft bed, tightly held in the arms of his dragon—lifting his head, he noticed Long Ling still asleep.
Silently, Su Muluo shifted, burying his face in Long Ling’s shoulder. He wanted to smell the scent of his dragon, but soon frowned.
There was a hint of blood on his dragon’s body.
Was he injured?
Su Muluo immediately looked at Long Ling’s face, finding him still asleep. He reached out, intending to unbutton his clothes—
But his hand was stopped by another slender hand.
“Phoenix,” Long Ling opened his eyes, a slight smile on his lips, “what are you doing?”
Su Muluo met his gaze, not withdrawing his hand. “Are you injured?”
Long Ling paused for a moment, then quickly replied, “No, I’m fine.”
Su Muluo said, “Then let me check your clothes.”
Long Ling fell silent.
Knowing he wouldn’t admit it, Su Muluo didn’t press further. Instead, he took matters into his own hands and continued unbuttoning Long Ling’s clothes.
Long Ling protested, “Phoenix, you’re undressing me, trying to take advantage of me!”
He tried to cover up something, but Su Muluo remained unfazed. Amid their struggle, Long Ling’s outer garment was eventually pulled open by his phoenix.
As Su Muluo suspected, Long Ling’s smooth muscles were covered with several scars, each one long and sharp, inflicted by the golden dragon’s claws.
However, being a dragon, Long Ling had immense vitality and healed quickly. Most of these wounds had already scarred over, and some of the less severe ones were almost completely healed.
Despite this, when Su Muluo saw these wounds, he was momentarily stunned, unable to speak. His heart felt like it was bleeding, aching intensely.
Long Ling cautiously watched Su Muluo’s expression, sensing his phoenix was deeply upset, wearing a sullen face, clearly unhappy.
Like a bullied, dejected fledgling bird.
“Phoenix,” Long Ling’s heart ached, leaning closer to stroke Su Muluo’s face, softly comforting, “Don’t worry, these are just minor injuries, they’ll heal quickly.”
“And you didn’t see how that dragon looked, I nearly stripped him of his protective scales, he nearly lost his life.”
Su Muluo ignored this small boasting in dragon talk. His brows furrowed tightly, suddenly remembering something, he lowered his head and kissed that wound.
Long Ling: “…”
He almost couldn’t control his gasp of cold air, and even wanted to press his phoenix on the bed to touch the feathers.
But he also knew that his phoenix did not mean that, just wanted to help him heal-the phoenix’s saliva is also a kind of precious treasure, with extremely precious healing effects.
The bedroom was quiet, and Long Ling looked down at his phoenix’s forehead, trying hard to stay calm and thinking in his heart: I knew I should have been injured more.
Su Muluo seemed to hear his thoughts, and at this moment he looked at him quietly.
Long Ling: “…”
He immediately kissed Su Muluo, smiling and saying: “The Phoenix looks really good, I like Phoenix the most!”
Su Muluo did not speak, raised his hand, and gently touched Long Ling’s wound.
In just a few seconds, those wounds healed without leaving a trace – but even so, Long Ling still had a grim scar on his abdomen.
Su Muluo saw this scar clearly in the hotel two days ago, and now he also knew who left it.
“Where is that person?”
“I drove him away with a serious injury,” Long Ling said proudly, pressing his jaw on Su Muluo’s shoulder, “I thought he was very strong, but it turned out to be nothing.”
He looked like he was going to praise Phoenix, and Su Muluo’s eyes showed a little smile, touching his head and saying, “So amazing.”
But if his dragon is stronger than the golden dragon, how could he have been seriously injured and lost his bones thousands of years ago?
Or did the golden dragon use some means that cannot be seen?
Su Muluo’s face was slightly darkened again when he thought of this, and he said to Long Ling, “What about your dragon bones?”
Long Ling casually reached back and took the dragon bones that he had thrown on the bedside.
This is a section of spine, all white, with a layer of black mist enveloping it, which makes it clear that it is not an ordinary product.
Su Muluo carefully took it-overlap with this section of spine, and his eyes suddenly flashed with a lot of images.
A golden dragon pressed a black dragon under its claws, the blade tore off the scales, pierced the abdomen, and forcefully pulled out a bloody bone…
“Don’t!”
In that instant, Su Muluo couldn’t help but scream, he even forgot that he was still in reality, grabbed Long Ling’s arm in horror, and sweated coldly.
Fortunately, the next second, those pictures disappeared, he was hugged by Long Ling, patted his back and comforted, “It’s okay, Phoenix, nothing happened, you see, I’m still good here.”
“…”
Su Muluo looked at Long Ling for a few seconds in a daze, suddenly hugged him tightly, and buried his face in his chest, no longer wanting to leave this embrace.
Although it was just a few fragments, he seemed to have experienced the pain of losing his dragon in a nightmare again, so clear… He couldn’t imagine how his dragon would endure all this.
”It’s all in the past. I don’t even remember that pain anymore.” Long Ling stroked Su Muluo’s hair gently and said softly, “My bones had already grown out when I broke free from the shell, so it’s okay.”
Su Muluo remained silent, still tightly gripping Long Ling’s clothes. He had just experienced in his dreams the pain of losing his clan and witnessed his dragon being stripped of its bones. Cold sweat trickled down his back, and he remained silent for a long time.
Long Ling comforted his own phoenix for a while until he noticed the phoenix’s mood improving. He glanced at the piece of dragon bone and considered throwing it away.
Su Muluo suddenly grabbed his hand and asked, “What are you doing?”
”It’s useless to me and only makes the phoenix sad,” Long Ling said. “So I want to throw it away.”
Holding onto the dragon bone, Su Muluo refused to let go. “You’re not allowed to throw it away.”
It was something from his dragon; how could he casually discard it?
Long Ling looked at the dragon bone and then at his phoenix. “Then, should I make it into a dagger and let the phoenix carry it with us?”
After thinking for a moment, Su Muluo nodded and finally handed the dragon bone back to him.
Long Ling looked at his precious phoenix and the dragon bone in his hand. A slight smile appeared on his lips. “I even gave my own dragon bone to the phoenix. How will the phoenix thank me?”
Upon hearing this, Su Muluo glanced at him, then shifted his gaze to the feather bracelet he was wearing.
Immediately, Long Ling concealed his feather bracelet in his sleeve and quickly said, “Alright, I didn’t say anything.”
Despite his words, he leaned over and kissed Su Muluo on the cheek, gleefully taking advantage of the situation.
Su Muluo said nothing, allowing him to take advantage, and after a while, he said, “Here, I saw the apparition left by me from a thousand years ago, and he left me a message.”
Long Ling made a sound of acknowledgment, “Hmm, what did he say?”
Su Muluo recounted word for word what his dream-self had told Long Ling. After hearing it, he fell into contemplation.
“Seal…” He furrowed his brows slightly, “What kind of seal is it that’s related to the heavenly path?”
Su Muluo shook his head. “I don’t know either.”
Now it seemed that in order to restore his previous power, he needed to break the seals on his body. There should be several layers of seals, with only the final one that couldn’t be undone—because once it was undone, it would touch upon some truths from his past that he had desperately wanted to conceal.
And that truth probably involved the downfall of both the Dragon and Phoenix clans… as well as the hidden secrets of the heavenly path.
Long Ling and Su Muluo locked eyes for a few seconds. Long Ling gently touched his Phoenix’s forehead and said, “In that case, the Phoenix doesn’t need to unlock the last seal.”
“I will always protect the Phoenix.”
Su Muluo didn’t say anything, just nodded.
However, despite his outward agreement, what he was thinking inside was that if his dragon were really in danger someday, he would definitely spare no effort to undo that last seal.
Apparently, he had thought the same way a thousand years ago, otherwise he wouldn’t have left these words for his present self.
While Su Muluo was lost in thought with his eyes lowered, his face suddenly became slightly moist—Long Ling had kissed him on the cheek.
“…” He stared at Long Ling and, after a few seconds, said, “I’m not giving you another kiss.”
Long Ling: “Don’t want it.”
After speaking, he shamelessly leaned in and kissed him again, who knows how many times.
Su Muluo: “…”
Su Muluo remained silent again.
With a sullen face on the surface, he actually held onto Long Ling’s clothes corner and refused to let go.
Long Ling noticed his little gesture and the smile in his eyes almost overflowed.
After his Phoenix woke up, it became extremely clingy and adorable, saying he shouldn’t be kissed, but in reality, he still indulged him.
So he happily buried his face in Su Muluo’s shoulder and rubbed it back and forth, lifting his head only after he had enough, asking, “Does the Phoenix want to go back now?”
By now, they had explored Suyuan thoroughly. Although they hadn’t fully recovered their memories, they had gained a lot.
After thinking for a moment, Su Muluo nodded and said, “Let’s go.”
They were just leaving temporarily; they could come back here again. And he also planned to think carefully after returning about how to unlock the other seals on his body except for the last one.
Long Ling wanted to hold his Phoenix’s hand and leave, but Su Muluo didn’t let him. Instead, he spread out his arms at him, blinking and staring at him.
He wanted a hug.
Long Ling was slightly stunned, then burst into laughter, lifting his Phoenix horizontally and nuzzling him affectionately, “The Phoenix is so clingy to me. Why didn’t you want to kiss me a few more times just now?”
Su Muluo remained silent, burying his face in his shoulder, pretending to be a quail.
Long Ling couldn’t resist his adorable Phoenix at all, immediately agreeing, “Okay, whatever the Phoenix wants.”
Su Muluo was finally satisfied, like a child who got candy, pressing his soft face against Long Ling’s and rubbing it affectionately.
Long Ling immediately kissed his Phoenix’s cheek again, holding his beloved Phoenix tightly.
It took two days to go from Lin City to where they were, but returning only took a few hours. In the evening, Long Ling returned to Lin City with his Phoenix in his arms and asked, “Do you want to go to the coffee shop first?”
Su Muluo shook his head and said, “Let’s go back, I’m tired.”
— But they had only slept a few hours ago.
Long Ling suddenly became alert and asked, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
Su Muluo said, “No,” and whispered, “I just want to go to bed early.”
This puzzled Long Ling even more, as the Phoenix seemed perfectly fine just moments ago… but he didn’t say anything, instead carrying his Phoenix back to their rental house.
Inside the rental house, Su Muluo took a shower first and then urged Long Ling to do the same.
Long Ling was puzzled, “But it’s still early, only seven o’clock.”
“I want to sleep,” Su Muluo said, “I want you to hold me.”
He was wearing soft pajamas and smelled of fresh shower gel. He tugged at Long Ling’s clothes gently, swaying slightly.
Long Ling immediately surrendered and went to take a shower.
After showering, he found that the lights in the living room had been turned off by Su Muluo. His Phoenix had curled up under the blankets in the bedroom, only showing a pair of eyes, quietly watching him.
Long Ling thought to himself: Today’s Phoenix seems unusually obedient.
He then walked over and lay down on the bed, embracing his soft Phoenix.
“Should I turn off the lights?”
Su Muluo made a sound of agreement, and Long Ling turned off the lights in the room, plunging it into darkness.
With darkness came silence. Su Muluo lay silently in Long Ling’s arms, feeling the warmth he brought… He looked up and saw his dragon quietly watching him in the darkness.
They gazed at each other for a while. Long Ling spoke softly, “Does the Phoenix want to tell me something?”
His voice was deep and gentle, filled with affection and fondness. His dark golden eyes were deep and profound, like bottomless pools, threatening to engulf Su Muluo gently.
“…”
Su Muluo hadn’t spoken for a while. Just when Long Ling thought he might not respond, he suddenly saw his Phoenix lower his head, clutching Long Ling’s sleeve, and softly saying,
“I want… to let you touch my feathers.”
Long Ling: “…”
