Tomorrow, Zhang Ruo would be leaving, so today, Wen Xingchen took him around the city center for a casual stroll. After returning to the hotel, they planned to have afternoon tea. At this time, it coincided with the time of the university mech exchange meeting, so after sending Zhang Ruo back to his room, Wen Xingchen intended to wait in the lobby for someone’s return.

Wen Xingchen didn’t want to give him false hope, so he answered honestly, “I probably won’t be able to make it.”

At a corner, Lu Jingning’s lips slightly pressed down. He observed them, who appeared quite familiar with each other, but he couldn’t identify what emotions he was experiencing. He knew he should have returned to his room to rest by now, but inexplicably, he found himself following them.
In his heightened state due to the heat cycle, he wasn’t sure why, but he could clearly sense his displeasure. Or maybe it was due to his Omega’s overpowering possessiveness during the heat cycle, making him not want to see Wen Xingchen getting too close to other Omegas.
Zhang Ruo didn’t reveal his disappointment for too long. He quickly sorted out his emotions and then remembered something. Turning around, he took a beautifully wrapped small bag from the numerous purchases and handed it to Wen Xingchen. “By the way, thank you for taking care of me these past few days. This is a little gift from me, I hope you like it.”
Wen Xingchen accepted the bag and, upon opening it, found a delicate and unique badge that appeared quite valuable. He politely smiled and graciously accepted it. “Thank you.”
Lu Jingning narrowed his eyes as if something surged inside him, causing him to lose control over his body. Another Omega passed by, noticing that something was amiss, and approached him quietly. “Um… Do you need any help?”
Even if Lu Jingning was slow to pick up on the situation, he realized that his pheromones were leaking uncontrollably.
Meanwhile, Wen Xingchen was about to bring the wine glass to his lips when he suddenly froze in place. In that moment, he seemed to catch a faintly familiar scent.
Subsequently, the pheromones became increasingly oppressive.
He quickly turned around but didn’t find the person he remembered from his past. However, it was clear that many Alphas around them had turned pale.
The intensity of the pheromones was so overwhelming that it even made others stop their conversations.

The two Beta hotel staff blocking their way exchanged a glance and finally hesitated, allowing some space for them to pass.
Wen Xingchen couldn’t wait any longer and rushed over in an instant, snatching Lu Jingning away from the Omega’s arms. Lu Jingning, who was still feeling a bit dazed, found himself in a spacious embrace, surrounded by the familiar scent of an Alpha. Slowly, he lifted his head and said, “Wen Xingchen?”
Seeing Lu Jingning’s reaction, the others finally believed that the two indeed knew each other and eased their tension slightly.
Zhang Ruo, who was also observing the situation, noticed Lu Jingning’s impending heat and reminded, “Don’t linger here, quickly take him back to his room.”
Wen Xingchen agreed, lifting Lu Jingning effortlessly in his arms.
Lu Jingning, with his hazy mind, caught sight of Zhang Ruo, and for some reason, flashes of their interactions from before played in his mind. He narrowed his eyes slightly, gazing fixedly at Zhang Ruo while holding tightly onto Wen Xingchen’s neck.
Before others could react, Lu Jingning claimed his territory by biting Wen Xingchen’s gland, as though declaring his sovereignty. The Omega who had recently come of age couldn’t help but let out a timid “Ah” and covered his eyes, red-faced.
Even Wen Xingchen, who was already being teased by the pheromones, was stunned by Lu Jingning’s bold move. Despite the overwhelming desire, he controlled himself and managed not to pounce on him right there.
Although suffering from the influence of the pheromones himself, Wen Xingchen couldn’t help but laugh helplessly at Lu Jingning’s antics. “Alright, I won’t touch you. Tell me where the suppressant is, and I’ll get it for you.”
Lu Jingning pointed to the backpack beside the bedside table, and Wen Xingchen found the newly opened pack of suppressants in one of the compartments. He frowned, “You already injected one?”
Lu Jingning’s voice was a bit muddled, “Yeah, my pheromone concentration is high. One dose isn’t enough to suppress it.”
After waiting for a while with no movement, Lu Jingning grew impatient and stuck his head out from under the covers, “Did you find it or not?”
“Found it,” Wen Xingchen said as he walked back to the bed with the suppressant in hand. He looked at Lu Jingning for a moment, “Will two doses be too much?”
“It won’t be,” Lu Jingning replied and added, “And it’s none of your business if it is.”
Wen Xingchen didn’t know what he had done to deserve this treatment from Lu Jingning, feeling somewhat speechless. Though he was struggling with the arousal due to the pheromones, he suppressed it and carefully read through the instructions before giving in, “Fine, I’ll help you then.”
The intense arousal made Lu Jingning desperately want to pounce on Wen Xingchen, and controlling that impulse consumed much of his energy. Despite the condition, he still managed to summon the strength to respond with a lazy sneer, “I don’t need your help. I’m fine now. You can go.”
Wen Xingchen was already accustomed to Lu Jingning’s dismissive attitude, so he remained unfazed, “The instructions mentioned that there might be side effects with two doses. I need to watch over you.”
Lu Jingning snorted, “What’s there to watch? This is a date, isn’t it? If you’re leaving, then leave quickly, don’t make that pretty Omega outside wait anxiously.”
Wen Xingchen was just about to sit on the nearby couch when he froze mid-motion, seemingly realizing something amusing. The corners of his mouth curled up uncontrollably, “If I’m not mistaken, are you… feeling jealous?”
His words lingered in the air without receiving a response.
Lu Jingning hadn’t even considered that possibility before, and for a brief moment, he seemed frozen. Then, suddenly, his face turned red with heat, and he impulsively grabbed the pillow beside him, hurling it forcefully at Wen Xingchen, “Get out of here, you handsome devil!”
Wen Xingchen caught the pillow and, with a playful glint in his eyes, leaned closer to Lu Jingning, almost nose-to-nose, “Speaking of the date, aren’t you playing the seduction game a bit too boldly? When do you plan to take the final step?”
Seeing Wen Xingchen’s eagerness to resolve his matter early, Lu Jingning decided to play it cool, lounging in a comfortable posture. He raised an eyebrow and said, “Are you in such a hurry to hear a confession? But what can I do? I don’t have any such plans right now. How about you beg me instead? Maybe, if you plead enough, I’ll change my mind, Brother Lu?”
As he spoke, there was a hint of provocation in his eyes.
Lu Jingning expected this attitude to catch Wen Xingchen off guard, but to his surprise, Wen Xingchen’s lips curved into a confident smile. He seemed to have no qualms at all as he replied, “Sure, I’ll beg you.”
Lu Jingning was taken aback by his audacity, realizing that Wen Xingchen was willing to go to such lengths to be with that pretty Omega. His expression turned colder at the thought.
With a disdainful click of his tongue, Lu Jingning elongated his tone lazily, pretending to be unimpressed, “Oh, since you’re begging me like this… Fine then, Wen Xingchen, do you want to be in a relationship with me?”
“Sure.” Wen Xingchen responded without hesitation, as though he had been waiting for this question. His two words seemed to flow seamlessly with Lu Jingning’s tone.
It wasn’t the response Lu Jingning had expected, and his facial expression froze in place.
Wen Xingchen, just inches away, gazed at him with a smile, “So, from now on, please take care of me, my boyfriend.”
Lu Jingning was taken aback for a moment, not anticipating such a direct and positive response. His initial attempt to play it cool seemed to have backfired.
With a mixture of emotions swirling inside him, he looked back at Wen Xingchen, who was still smiling warmly. In a rare moment of vulnerability, Lu Jingning couldn’t help but return the smile, “Sure, my boyfriend. Take care of me too.”
