Chapter 126 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 126: Cycle of a Hundred Years (2)

The scene on the planet of Jaha was just a microcosm amidst the clarion call of war, one among numerous planets.

For the commencement of this war, the insect race seemed thoroughly prepared. Just through the spatial-temporal portal, thousands of warships appeared in a grand procession, looming over the skies of several dozen human planets.

However, the human response seemed faster than anticipated by the insect race.

Even before the insect race’s warships could breach the front line, they were already significantly intercepted by the vast alliance fleet at the periphery.

The team Lu Jingning belonged to had received orders from Jiang Quan. At this moment, they were maneuvering along a secluded interstellar route, circling around to the rear of the nearest planet.

On the warship, the members of the Stargaze team were bustling around, occasionally glancing towards the figure standing at the command console. Their expressions hinted at thoughts they hesitated to express.

Just as they received the orders, everyone seemed somewhat bewildered.

They couldn’t fathom how Lu Jingning and Wen Xingchen, who were just ordinary captains before, had suddenly ascended to the rank of colonels.

Shouldn’t promotions and increments follow a logical progression? This was completely out of the ordinary!

Lu Jingning confirmed the warship had aligned correctly and turned to Yan Hebin, saying, “Double-check the communication systems, make sure not to miss any signal source. We have only one chance, if we fail, everything will be on the line here.”

Yan Hebin nodded, saying, “I’ve got it covered, don’t worry.”

Lu Jingning leisurely took out a mint cigarette, not lighting it, just dangling it between his lips, swaying it up and down. “Let’s fight this battle well, and after it’s over, let’s have Commander Jiang treat us to a big meal!”

The others cheered in agreement.

The “Commander Jiang” in Lu Jingning’s words referred to Jiang Quan. Over the years, while everyone’s psychological shadow concerning Jiang Quan hadn’t lessened, it was only Lu Jingning who could casually say such things. His sheer audacity made him a captain worthy of respect.

When Wen Xingchen walked in from outside, this was the scene he encountered.

He walked over, pinched the cigarette dangling from Lu Jingning’s lips, smiling somewhat enigmatically. “You’re still smoking at this time?”

Lu Jingning glanced at him, swiftly snatching the cigarette back, hinting with his gaze towards the other’s scent gland, muttering, “Can’t I indulge a bit?”

“Of course, you can.” Wen Xingchen brushed aside the slightly longer strands of hair near his face, gently smiling. “Once this battle is over, indulge however you wish.”

Beside them, Cen Junfeng was adjusting the ship’s ammunition system. At the words, his hands trembled slightly, almost firing on the spot. Unable to hold back, he exclaimed, “Can you two keep your suggestive banter appropriate for the occasion? Damn it, are us single folks destined to have no say?”

Lu Jingning glanced indifferently at him, “Isn’t there an available Omega here? If you want comfort, should I release some pheromones for you to sniff?”

Cen Junfeng’s lips twitched, “Are you a spy sent by the insect race? You’re worse than Yan Hebin and Wen Yan in this!”

Yan Hebin, expressionless, added, “I’m out.”

Cen Junfeng: “…”

Lu Jingning nonchalantly tutted, “The view outside is pretty good, do you want me to toss you out to take a stroll and change your mood?”

Cen Junfeng felt a chill down his spine and fell completely silent.

At that moment, several red dots appeared on the console in front of Yan Hebin.

He calmly reminded, “Stop fooling around; we’re not far from the insect race fleet. Judging from the current situation, the nearest should be a small-scale fleet, consisting of seven warships, four patrol ships, and one supply ship. Judging by our current course, we’ll collide head-on soon. If we want to proceed without being detected, the best course of action is to directly take them down.”

Lu Jingning looked up following his words. The playful expression on his face gradually faded, replaced by a calm tone as he directed, “Contact Squad One and Squad Three. It’s time to get ready.”

The Elite Team’s task this time was to perform a rear assault, a highly risky mission even amid intense frontline battles.

They absolutely couldn’t afford any traces to be noticed by the insect race before entering the target area.

After the communication, the three top-notch warships were already fully prepared in the blink of an eye.

All the team members returned to their positions, devoid of the casual demeanor they usually carried, their expressions incredibly serious.

In war, there’s no room for complacency.

Moreover, the success or failure of this mission wasn’t just about their fate but could potentially impact the life or death of billions of humans.

Until today, they had endured countless sleepless nights, tirelessly engaging in various simulated exercises, all in preparation for this day’s arrival.

And now, it was the moment to validate the fruits of their training.

Although there lingered a bit of puzzlement among the members of each elite team—why were the responses of the Empire and the Federation so well-coordinated under such a sudden attack by the insect race? This approach seemed as if they had anticipated the enemy’s moves in advance.

However, regardless of the numerous questions in their minds, now wasn’t the time to delve into them.

Seated in the central command room, watching the approaching insect race warships in the viewport, Lu Jingning’s eyes flashed with a hint of concealed excitement.

As the distance between both sides reached a critical point, at the most precise moment, he decisively issued the command, “Now, commence action!”

The cannons roared.

Confronted with the excessively agile defense lines established by humans, the insect race felt an immense shock. What surprised them more was, in such chaos, the enemy could orchestrate such a fierce rear assault.

Within a short time frame, this seemed impossible.

Though only three relatively small-sized warships, they appeared like three whistling blades, forcibly dispersing the insect race formation, creating a gap in what was initially an impregnable army.

Following that, countless warships seemed to premeditate their appearance, converging from all directions through the spatial portals, encircling the insect race’s fleet tightly.

The confidence once plastered on the face of the insect race commander froze instantly.

Suddenly, a ludicrous thought flashed through his mind, sending shivers down his spine. The premature completion of the Crystal of the Night’s restoration had plunged the insect race momentarily into endless joy. They had thought that with a sudden attack on unprepared humans, they could avenge a century-old disgrace. But now, the situation suggested that their presumptuous assault had made them the trapped ones.

But how could humans know their plans?

It was impossible!

The commander fiercely clenched his teeth, his expression turning somewhat savage. Seeing his fleet’s ships continuously destroyed, his eyes seemed on the verge of bleeding.

The passive insect race reluctantly initiated their counterattack.

In the first battle, flames blazed for seven days and seven nights, completely dyeing the skies above various planets crimson.

Though the ships inevitably suffered tremendous damage, after successfully disrupting the enemy’s formation, the Stargaze team smoothly completed their return journey as per the prearranged route, utilizing the spatial portals.

Before the insect race went completely berserk, they withdrew from the chaotic central war zone, returning safely to the temporary base.

As they disembarked from the ships, everyone appeared drenched in sweat.

Despite the day’s intensity not demanding much physical exertion compared to their usual training routines, the unprecedented tension from being so deeply embroiled in the conflict made their steps involuntarily tremble.

Lu Jingning subconsciously reached for his pocket, only to realize that the hidden pouch of mint cigarettes had vanished amidst the chaos. He could only sigh and pocket the emptiness.

Glancing at their team’s rather dilapidated warship, his eyes carried a tinge of distress. “Damn, this blasted mission! It’s all Commander Jiang’s fault. I’ll make sure he compensates me with a new ship!”

Captain Tang Jiaze, who happened to pass by, halted at the remark, casually adding, “While you’re at it, have him replace our team’s ship too.”

Lu Jingning retorted, “Get lost, deal with it yourself!”

Tang Jiaze remarked, “You have no sense of camaraderie, do you?”

Lu Jingning rolled his eyes, ignoring him, and looked towards the distant horizon where the flames still raged, furrowing his brows.

Despite their mission having been successfully completed according to the plan, for the grand-scale racial war, everything was just beginning.

Humanity’s strategy had ingeniously maneuvered the insect race’s fleet into complete passivity.

对于整个战局来说,有时甚至微弱的优势,在这样的时刻也可能至关重要。

Lu Jingning’s gaze flickered amidst the distant flames, reflecting off the colors in intermittent waves. It wasn’t until a hand gently tapped his shoulder that he snapped out of his reverie.

Wen Xingchen’s voice came from beside him, “What are you thinking about?”

Lu Jingning fell silent for a moment, then shrugged slightly, “I was thinking… our contributions back then seemed undervalued.”

His tone carried a tinge of regret.

Regret! This almost historic discovery, which could be said to determine the life or death of humanity, ended up granting only a promotion to Colonel for the two of them?

Thinking back, Jiang Quan probably mocked them privately as a couple of fools after they left?!

Wen Xingchen couldn’t help a small smirk at his words, grabbing his arm and leading him towards the rest area, “Stop thinking about it. Let’s go take a shower. I bet new orders will be coming soon.”

Lu Jingning walked along as Wen Xingchen pulled him, gazing at the figure in front of him for a moment before suddenly smiling and winking, “Bro Wen, care to join me in the shower?”

Wen Xingchen paused, turning to look at him.

“I lost my cigarette,” Lu Jingning said shamelessly, unaffected by his gaze. “Didn’t you say I could indulge however I wanted? Time’s short, let’s make the most of it!”

In the midst of speaking, he subtly moved his nose, perhaps hinting at something.

Wen Xingchen noticed everything, his expression softening a bit, “Alright then, let’s make the most of it.”

Chapter 125 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 125: Cycle of a Hundred Years (1)

In the eighth star system, the planet of Jaha continued its day of prosperity and thriving.

Being the most remote trading planet in this star system, it boasted top-tier population and technological advancements.

Upon graduating from the Qiang Cang Academy, he was assigned to the Fifth Legion, stationed on the planet of Jaha.

In a way, it could be considered part of the frontier defense force, crucial in safeguarding the Empire’s security.

However, today, he wasn’t on duty at his post. Instead, after requesting a few days off from his superior, he appeared in the bustling and lively market, dressed neatly and presentably.

With the appointed time still ahead, Yu Qingcang held a bouquet of vibrant flowers in his hand, his face adorned with a bright smile.

As he couldn’t help but imagine the scene of their meeting later, a luxurious spacecraft suddenly roared in, initially seeming like it would zoom past, yet unexpectedly coming to a sudden halt.

The strong airflow tousled his hair.

Yu Qingcang lifted his head to glare, about to reprimand, only to see the car door open, revealing a familiar figure stepping out from above.

Ren Jin wore a light blue top paired with black trousers. Although it was a very ordinary attire, Yu Qingcang found it inexplicably adorable.

At this moment, due to his apology, there was a faint blush on his cheeks, resembling the just-ripened apple.

Yu Qingcang couldn’t help but gaze at that face a little longer than intended, preparing to say something, but his attention was diverted by someone behind.

This type of spacecraft cost far more than just millions on the market; driving this model indicated considerable wealth. And the man who accompanied Ren Jin appeared quite young, dressed in a classic, aristocratic style. He sported a pair of glasses, exuding a refined aura.

This scene momentarily caught Yu Qingcang off guard, and a series of thoughts flashed through his mind: “Am I about to be dumped?”, “Has Ren Jin found a new Alpha?”, “Being in the military was a mistake; long-distance relationships never work.” His lips involuntarily tightened with a hint of hostility.

Just as he hesitated about releasing a bit of pheromones to intimidate the seemingly clueless young man, the person opposite, despite his flashy appearance, greeted first: “Hey, old Yu, long time no see. Why do you seem more ferocious now?”

This voice carried a familiar tone.

Before Yu Qingcang could react, the other person playfully pulled down the sunglasses from his nose, revealing an extremely familiar and somewhat arrogant face.

After all these years since graduation, Jiang Luan remained as carefree as during their time in the Imperial Navy.

At this moment, grinning mischievously, “What, should I thank you for bringing your little boyfriend here?”

Beside them, Ren Jin gently coughed, explaining, “My spacecraft malfunctioned midway, and Jiang Luan happened to be nearby. He heard I was coming to see you and offered to come along.”

Yu Qingcang looked at Ren Jin and then at Jiang Luan, finally remembering his sovereign duty. He pulled the person over in one swift move and thrust the bouquet into his hands, “Here, darling!”

Ren Jin was momentarily stunned, “Ah… thank you.”

The excessively ostentatious spacecraft drew too much attention. The three didn’t linger and found a suitable place to park, settling in a roadside restaurant.

After graduating, Ren Jin failed to be recruited by the military, much like most Omegas. Instead of persistently pursuing a career in the armed forces, he found a job as an ordinary employee.

Because of this, unlike Yu Qingcang, who was immersed in various military training within the army, he managed to maintain more contact with relaxed old friends like Jiang Luan.

As they discussed each other’s lives for a while, the conversation inevitably turned to Lu Jingning and Wen Xingchen.

Yu Qingcang evidently had a better grasp of their news than the other two. As he started speaking, his enthusiasm soared, “You guys have no idea. Those two kids might be invincible now! You know, what kind of place the Alliance Army is? It’s a den of wolves! Yet, now, the entire elite team worships them; it’s absolutely amazing!”

Ren Jin listened attentively, eagerly jotting down notes, prompting, “Details? What specific feats? Tell me quickly! Our support group sisters have been relying on internal news!”

Jiang Luan felt momentarily powerless to comment, casually popping a peanut into his mouth and chewing vigorously, “What, your shoddy support group hasn’t disbanded yet?”

“Kidding, how could our Brother Lu’s support group ever disband! He’s forever the Omega’s beacon of light!” As the long-time captain of Lu Jingning’s support group, Ren Jin hadn’t forgotten his duty, emphasizing to Jiang Luan, “Brother Lu will forever be the most admirable man in my life, no one else!”

Seeing his little boyfriend idolizing his childhood friend so fervently, Yu Qingcang couldn’t help but gesture towards himself, “If he’s your most admired man, then what about me?”

Ren Jin pondered for a moment and confirmed, “You can be the second!”

Yu Qingcang’s lips twitched, eventually conceding, “Fine, being second is okay.”

Upon careful consideration, if the first position was his road dad, it didn’t seem like too much of a loss, right?

Jiang Luan, on the side, was already laughing uncontrollably, “Yu Qingcang, what’s up with you? You’re satisfied with this?”

Yu Qingcang shot him a glare, “You, cunning merchant, keep quiet!”

Jiang Luan raised an eyebrow, neither confirming nor denying.

By now, he had essentially taken over the family business entirely. Under his command were not less than ten top-tier companies. He was an absolute winner in life, and he didn’t need to waste words with this brute.

After all, he was a man worth millions in a second, each word he uttered was pure gold!

Glancing at the time on his terminal, Jiang Luan stood up, saying, “Alright, I’ve seen everyone; I’ve got things to do. I’ll take my leave.”

Ren Jin exclaimed, “Huh, leaving so soon?”

Jiang Luan hung his coat on his arm, smiling and winking at Ren Jin, “It’s called being considerate. I came to visit, not to disturb your lovebirds.”

Ren Jin’s face blushed slightly.

Yu Qingcang, with no good temper left, gave Jiang Luan a kick from afar, “Alright, if you’re leaving, leave quickly!”

Though they said that, both stood up and escorted Jiang Luan to the door.

Jiang Luan grinned as he watched the two standing side by side, bidding farewell. Just before leaving, intending to tease a bit more, he suddenly felt the ground tremble slightly under his feet.

Immediately after, screams erupted, chaos ensued.

This scene was all too familiar.

Just as the surroundings dimmed suddenly, the three instinctively looked up. The seemingly clear sky was torn apart as massive warships appeared without warning, completely blocking the starlight.

The entire city plunged into utter panic due to these unexpected visitors.

This operation through the spatial signal gate instantly reminded several recent Imperial Navy graduates of the devastating memories of pirate attacks from years ago.

Yu Qingcang’s communicator buzzed quickly. Simultaneously, several anti-aircraft gates emerged unexpectedly from the ground like mushrooms.

As if anticipating this day, while the alarms blared, personnel on duty swiftly organized the masses to seek refuge in the air-raid shelters.

“Reporting to the commander, I’ll be back at the base immediately!”

After replying, Yu Qingcang looked deeply at Ren Jin, gritting his teeth as he handed him over to Jiang Luan, instructing, “At the second right turn of the next street, there’s an entrance to an air-raid shelter. Hurry there! And remember, don’t run out on your own, understand?”

After saying this, just as he was about to turn around, the edge of his clothes was lightly tugged by Ren Jin.

It was evident that the fear of the unknown had tinged his eyes slightly red. Although his voice trembled, he tried to maintain a calm tone, “Don’t worry about me, but please, ensure your own safety!”

Yu Qingcang paused for a moment, then smiled and ruffled Ren Jin’s hair firmly, “Don’t worry, after this fight, we’ll continue our date!”

Jiang Luan urged, “Go quickly. I’ll take care of your little boyfriend’s safety for you.”

“Thanks!”

Yu Qingcang saluted him and concentrated the pheromones in his feet, without looking back, rushing towards the direction of his military base.

Explosions echoed incessantly along the way, screams and cries accompanying them.

In the field of vision, numerous ordinary citizens scrambled towards various air-raid shelter entrances, completely disrupting the peaceful scene.

These scenes, involuntarily, overlapped with the pirate attack years ago.

However, this time, compared to back then, it was evidently more devastating.

But for Qingcang, one thing was entirely different now.

He wasn’t the clueless new student anymore; he was a true soldier, carrying the mission of defending the empire!

Qingcang remembered, just a few days ago, jokingly remarking to his superior how extravagant it seemed for the empire to spend so much on constructing numerous air-raid shelters in such a peaceful era.

At that time, his superior only smiled and remained silent.

It’s only now that he suddenly realizes, perhaps long ago, the Empire had anticipated this day’s arrival and had long been in preparation.

Enemy troops on the warships began landing with small aircraft, starting their rampant plunder on the ground.

On the other side, Imperial warships could be seen rapidly approaching from a distance.

Orderly and unafraid.

Although he hadn’t directly encountered the insect race, during Lu Jingning’s participation in the bounty competition, Yu Qingcang had seen the creature called the White Morning Star Female through a live broadcast. Now, as he observed the enemy forces resembling those vertical pupils, even though he was running, he felt his blood momentarily congeal.

Yu Qingcang subconsciously glanced at the dim and darkened sky, quietly clenching his fists.

It had been over a hundred years since the last war between humans and the insect race. He had never imagined he would witness the beginning of a historic war once again.

On that day, peace shattered once more, and the second inter-species war erupted in full force.

A hundred years’ cycle.

Chapter 124 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 124: Nightfall in Yunlin (3)

Alpha’s onset of sensitivity was aggressive and irregular. This time, they could only be thankful that they had returned to the base. If this had occurred during a mission, it would have been a genuine ordeal.

For ordinary AO partners, the onset of sensitivity would have seemed relatively manageable. However, both Bing Yunlin and Wen Ye were Alphas. This period undoubtedly became one of the most challenging times for them since being together.

During Alpha’s sensitivity period, there were no specific medications available, and Bing Yunlin’s situation couldn’t possibly receive Omega reassurance.

As the scent of pheromones gradually intensified amidst the aroma of tea, a faint crimson tint appeared in his eyes. His entire aura surged, as if an invisible hand imperiously claimed a territory around him.

Wen Ye could sense the overwhelming oppression directed at him.

If it were anyone else, they would likely have been suffocated by the pressure long ago. Even now, Wen Ye had to mobilize his pheromonal energy discreetly to restrain it.

Looking up, he caught a glimpse of an extreme level of restraint in Bing Yunlin’s eyes.

Bing Yunlin typically presented a mild and tranquil demeanor. However, due to the onset of sensitivity, it seemed as though a dormant volcano had erupted, becoming somewhat uncontrollable.

Everyone knew that Captain Wen Ye was a born S-Class pheromone bearer, undoubtedly a prodigy. But very few knew that Bing Yunlin, when he was still in the quasi-S-Class phase, had once completely defeated Wen Ye during a sparring session.

Because Bing Yunlin usually followed Wen Ye casually, content with being in the background, even though they had known each other for years, Wen Ye always remained the center of attention whenever they appeared together.

Yet only Wen Ye knew the sheer power this man possessed, suffocatingly potent.

As both were top-tier Alphas, the eruption of sensitivity and territorial dominance during this period compelled Bing Yunlin, whether willing or not, to harbor intense hostility and vigilance towards Wen Ye.

Bing Yunlin caught sight of Wen Ye slightly curling his lips. Even amidst the danger level of Alpha during sensitivity, Bing Yunlin, while retaining a semblance of rationality, took a deep breath and stood up abruptly, “I’ll go to the room. Remember to lock the door.”

This was their most common way of handling each onset of sensitivity.

To prevent excessively strong attacks against each other due to difficulties in self-control, they often isolated themselves.

Possibly due to the excessive fatigue from the recent mission, the overwhelming onset of sensitivity made Bing Yunlin feel as if countless streams of energy were wildly colliding within him. Before taking two steps forward, his steps involuntarily wavered.

Instinctively reaching out to grasp something nearby, the touch of Alpha skin felt like an electric current to the touchpoint.

A sense of being offended surged within Bing Yunlin, and almost instinctively, he grabbed the hand, intending to forcefully push the person down.

Fortunately, Wen Ye had been prepared in advance and firmly held him down.

Bing Yunlin didn’t understand why Wen Ye would risk physical contact at this moment. In the tug-of-war between impulse and reason, he, with a head about to explode, glanced sideways.

Utterly different from his usual gentle demeanor, the long and narrow eyes bore a deep melancholy, akin to an unfathomable and dangerous abyss.

With this glance came an intense Alpha’s overpowering presence.

Instinctively, Bing Yunlin, despite knowing the person opposite was Wen Ye, uncontrollably desired to make him submit.

Wen Ye was well aware of the almost torturous nature of Alpha’s sensitivity. Yet, precisely because of this, he didn’t choose to evade under such overwhelming pressure. Instead, he tried to balance it with pheromones as much as possible while simultaneously taking steps, pulling Bing Yunlin along, “Come with me.”

Bing Yunlin knew that they had to isolate themselves completely before the onset of sensitivity fully erupted. However, when his gaze brushed over Wen Ye’s slightly furrowed brow, he managed to control the impulse to shake off that hand, solely relying on the last shred of rationality.

Lowering his eyes, he tried his best to let down his guard and allowed Wen Ye to lead him out.

This choice, apart from trust, was also because Bing Yunlin knew that the current level of pheromones wouldn’t affect Wen Ye in the slightest.

However, they seemed to have forgotten to consider the endurance capacity of others.

Within the Third Legion base, figures in military attire moved back and forth.

Yet, at this moment, many people walking around seemed uncontrollably pale.

Their weak endurance soon became untenable. They barely managed to hold onto nearby railings to prevent themselves from collapsing, expressing a chorus of distress.

Which officer’s sensitivity had come? Not only failing to contain it but also running around everywhere?

Chapter 124: Nightfall in Yunlin (3)

There’s an instinctive rejection between Alphas during their sensitive periods. Yet, such a faint trace of pheromones causing such intense oppression spoke volumes about the person’s strength.

People looked around, hoping for some mercy from that figure. All they saw were two casually dressed figures flashing by in their periphery. Before they could discern their faces, they had disappeared into the training hall.

At this time, the training hall was bustling with soldiers engaged in various exercises. Initially, they paid no attention to the newcomers. But when the overly dominant pheromones surged, everyone’s expression turned unpleasant.

Wen Ye spoke directly and succinctly, “Sorry for the interruption, we’ll use the training hall for a bit.”

Feeling the extreme dominance of pheromones, each soldier, recognizing the remarkably famous face, and glimpsing the evidently sensitized Bing Yunlin, immediately without hesitation, leaned against the walls and laboriously made their way out.

The sensation of being utterly suppressed was suffocating, intolerable.

Previously, they only knew this vice-captain was strong. But now, they realized that a simple ‘strong’ might not be sufficient to describe him.

Once everyone departed, Wen Ye decisively shut the training hall door, sealing all pheromonal traces inside.

Turning around, he glanced at Bing Yunlin, who, in extreme restraint, seemed somewhat crimson at the corners of his eyes. Wen Ye casually stretched his muscles, “Feeling uncomfortable holding it in during the sensitive period? Why not let it all out? I’ll be your opponent.”

Indeed, apart from receiving Omega reassurance, facing this restless and irritable sensation within, there couldn’t have been a more suitable method than letting it all out.

However, Bing Yunlin hadn’t expected Wen Ye, usually so rule-abiding, to choose this course of action for him.

For this person, such an act was quite out of character.

With slightly lowered eyelids, masking the dim expression, Bing Yunlin’s lips curled slightly, “Occupying the training hall without permission doesn’t seem like something you’d do, Aye Ye.”

Wen Ye fell silent for a moment before saying, “Worst-case scenario, it’s a punishment. Still better than you suffering for days.”

“Punishment just for a fight?”

Bing Yunlin murmured this sentence repeatedly, gradually lowering his voice. Suddenly, he took steps toward Wen Ye.

Although the pheromonal outbreak from his Alpha side was increasingly uncontrollable, he walked up to Wen Ye with a calm expression.

With firm and steady eyes fixed on the man in front of him, Bing Yunlin reached out, pulled him closer, and then kissed him recklessly.

The strong rejection between sensitive Alphas caused chaos in the surrounding pheromonal aura. Skin contact triggered a severe discomfort, feeling like countless electric currents wildly darting around. Yet, it didn’t hinder Bing Yunlin’s deep and prolonged kiss.

Countless voices roared in his mind. Only when Bing Yunlin felt he was about to explode did he finally release Wen Ye.

Breathing slightly heavily, his voice husky, he chuckled, “Let’s have a good fight then.”

According to insiders, the scenario that day unfolded as follows—

Colonel Wen Ye and Colonel Bing Yunlin forcibly occupied the training hall and engaged in an intense battle lasting two days and two nights. During this time, anyone passing by could hear thunderous and earth-shaking sounds from inside… um, intense combat. When the doors opened two days later, the exact details of the fierce battle remained unknown. However, both appeared disheveled. Maybe due to their excessive physical exertion, it was Colonel Wen Ye who carried out Colonel Bing Yunlin, and both fell into a coma shortly after reaching the medical team, only awakening several days later.

This entire process was full of twists and turns, so based on the known results, who was stronger between the two?

It seemed the mystery remained unsolved.

But one thing was certain—it became a legendary tale.

From then on, everyone in the Third Legion knew that Colonel Wen Ye violated military rules for his beloved, resulting in both receiving their first disciplinary notice since joining the military.

After a few days of recuperation, Bing Yunlin had slightly recovered. Seeing the disciplinary notice, he didn’t seem the least bit displeased; instead, he seemed quite content.

By now, he no longer exhibited the restless and agitated behavior of the sensitive period. He had returned to his usual amiable self, cheerfully remarking to those around him, “Aye Ye, doesn’t this disciplinary notice hold special commemorative significance?”

Wen Ye: “…”

After contemplating for a moment, Bing Yunlin seemed to recall something particularly enjoyable. His narrow eyes softened, “Next time when you’re in your sensitive period, I’ll help you release. How about that? Then, we’ll collect all the disciplinary notices. Wouldn’t that be quite interesting?”

“…”

Wen Ye: “I won’t need the trouble during my sensitive period. No thanks.”

Finding collecting disciplinary notices interesting? Perhaps on this point, he’d never reach an agreement with Bing Yunlin.

Seeing his tense expression, Bing Yunlin smiled and replied, “Alright, I’ll think of some other way then.”

Chapter 123 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 123: Nightfall in Yunlin (2)

The Third Legion’s spacecraft inspection center.

Under the guidance of the receiving platform, a fleet of warships descended slowly and orderly entered the inspection bay.

Once docked, the hatch opened, and a group of people steadily disembarked from the spacecraft.

The man leading the way wore a straight military uniform, his simple steps still exuding a textbook-like demonstration of precision.

The person behind him, after the long journey, had his hair slightly longer, faintly swaying in the gentle breeze. A hint of a smile lingered in his narrow eyes, his gaze always fixed on the man in front of him. He appeared respectful, yet there was an eerie aura surrounding him.

The news of the successful return of the first search team had already circulated internally. It was said that during this expedition, they had collectively slain nearly a hundred insectoids, once again breaking the Legion’s record.

The personnel at the inspection center, involuntarily, paused their work and subconsciously directed their gaze towards them, eager to catch a glimpse of the true faces of the two rising stars.

Someone couldn’t resist nudging the shoulder of the person beside them, “Huh? Are they Wen Ye and Bing Yunlin?”

The person beside them looked amazed, “This looks… somewhat different from the rumors, doesn’t it?”

According to the internal legends of the Third Legion, these two were like hellish warriors, capable of surpassing even the most extraordinary Alphas. But their current appearances seemed far from matching such descriptions.

A soldier passing by couldn’t help but chuckle at their conversation, “What are you thinking? Lieutenant Colonel Wen Ye and Lieutenant Colonel Bing Yunlin are top-tier even among S-class Alphas! But don’t let their looks deceive you. Once they step onto the battlefield, those bugs hear their names and start trembling in their pants!”

The staff listened with reverence, yet with a hint of regret, sighed, “It’s a pity, though. These two godlike Alphas are in an AA relationship!”

The soldier sneered, teasingly, “Is there a shortage of AA relationships in the military? What, you don’t have the luck, so you’re denying it to others? In my opinion, they are simply meant to be, created for each other!”

The staff member wanted to say something more but suddenly felt a chill down their spine.

Instinctively, they looked up, only to find Bing Yunlin looking directly in their direction.

Whether it was an illusion or not, from such a distance, it felt like he was truly staring at them.

The warmth that should have been in those eyes seemed as icy as a frozen cellar. The person felt frozen in place, unable to speak.

Wen Ye walked halfway and noticed the slowing steps behind him. He turned back and inquired, “Is something wrong?”

“No, nothing,” Bing Yunlin casually withdrew his gaze, gently chuckled, “Just some kittens meowing randomly. Found it amusing, so I took a glance.”

“Wondering where the cats are from within the Third Legion?” Wen Ye raised an eyebrow.

As usual, after reporting all the data from this voyage, the team members finally got a brief period to rest in their quarters.

In this race against time, the search and seizure of energy sources had become the top priority for all search teams. So-called rest lasted only a few days.

The repeated search tasks seemed like an endless patrol. No one knew when it would come to an end.

Or perhaps, precisely because they knew what would happen when this task officially stopped, they preferred to stay busy.

In this era accustomed to prolonged peace, no one wished to engage in a formal war against the insectoids.

After their marriage, Bing Yunlin and Wen Ye applied for a shared suite within the military. Three rooms and a living room, clean and bright.

The intelligent AI, following commands, diligently brewed lemon tea, filling the entire room with a subtle fragrance of tea.

Unnoticed, Wen Ye had grown fond of this familiar scent.

Outside office hours, he had changed into comfortable casual wear, sitting on the sofa flipping through recent military magazines, a slight frown on his forehead.

Though these public-oriented magazines always presented a rosy picture, subtle clues could still be gleaned from their glossed-over content.

Under the Empire’s arrangement, all residents of the Noahs’ system were announced to be relocated from that poverty-stricken system to a habitable planet in the Third System.

It seemed like preferential treatment for the impoverished area, but if memory served, the Noahs’ system happened to be one of the blocks closest to the insectoids’ territory.

Behind such an operation seemed to carry a significant and suggestive implication.

Wen Ye was engrossed in the reading, unaware of the halted sound of water in the bathroom or the quietly opened bedroom door.

Bing Yunlin, wearing a loose bathrobe with a towel hanging casually around his neck, delicately wiped his still damp hair. Water droplets slowly trailed down his face, and the slightly open neckline revealed the distinct contours of his collarbone.

Spotting the serious expression on Wen Ye’s face on the sofa, Bing Yunlin couldn’t help but smile. Circling around, he leaned slightly forward from behind, curiously asking, “What’s on your mind again?”

The use of the word “again” was particularly apt.

Only someone like Wen Ye, naturally suited to leadership, would take pleasure in worrying about national affairs in his free time.

In this position, the falling hair brushed against the skin, and the sudden coolness made Wen Ye come back to his senses. He lightly smelled the lingering refreshing scent of the bath and replied, “If I’m not mistaken, the war is about to start.”

A rare look of surprise flickered across Bing Yunlin’s brows, “So soon?”

Clearly, this was much earlier than the time he had anticipated.

Wen Ye gently held his wrist, pulling him onto the sofa and handed him the reports he had read multiple times, starting a simple analysis.

This serious demeanor resembled his attitude during weekly team meetings.

After listening for a while, Bing Yunlin’s gaze shifted from the military magazine to Wen Ye’s face, tracing from the eyebrows, the curve of the cheeks, then the tip of the nose, finally settling on those lips that never seemed to lose their appeal.

After several back-and-forths of this observation, Wen Ye noticed the distraction and raised an eyebrow, “Are you even listening?”

Bing Yunlin casually withdrew his gaze, smiling lightly, “Of course.”

After saying that, he smoothly took the military magazine from Wen Ye’s hand and neatly placed it aside. Looking at him with amusement, he said, “Why worry about something that hasn’t happened yet? If a war breaks out, deal with it then. Don’t you agree, A Ye?”

Wen Ye fell silent for a moment, unable to find any logical loopholes.

Just as he was about to say something, his nose twitched slightly.

Whether it was an illusion or not, the once subtle tea fragrance in the air seemed to have intensified.

He looked up at Bing Yunlin, hesitated for a moment, and asked, “Yunlin, when was your last sensitive period?”

With that question, Bing Yunlin realized that today his possessiveness seemed to be a bit too strong.

Chapter 122 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 122: Nightfall in Yunlin (1)

The establishment of a military alliance between the Empire and the Federation had spread across the stars a year ago.

Since then, the armies of both nations seemed to have entered an endless stage of busyness.

Every day, thousands of warships roamed through space, fervently searching for the whereabouts of major top-tier energy sources, under the puzzled gaze of the general public, unaware of the reasons.

With the occurrence of a little-known explosion in a remote star system, a race against time with the insect race inadvertently and officially commenced.

On a battleship in the sky of a certain star system, Wen Ye held a terminal, conducting the final data verification.

As one of the investigation teams under the Third Legion of the Imperial Army, they had just successfully completed their mission and were currently on their way back.

Since officially joining after graduation, it had been two years. His status had shifted from the captain of the Imperial Sea Patrol to the captain of the Third Legion’s investigation team, holding the rank of colonel.

Factions within the military were always intricate. For a newcomer, his speed of promotion was indeed enviable.

Outside the window, various planets appeared, some distant, some close, among them, a few sparkled brightly, dazzlingly radiant.

A gentle knock on the cabin door, followed by it opening.

Bing Yunlin slightly turned, leaning in from outside, his expression mild. “Reporting, Commander, all the ship’s instruments have been checked and are functioning normally without any anomalies.”

Wen Ye’s gaze swept over the last line of records. He looked up, a faint smile flickering in his eyes. “Thank you.”

“Not at all, it’s my duty,” Bing Yunlin said, stepping inside and handing over a report. “Here are all the energy-related information we gathered during our mission. I’ve organized it. Take a look, and if it’s fine, we can report it directly.”

Wen Ye took it. “Okay.”

Bing Yunlin stood still for a moment, staring into his eyes. Suddenly, he leaned in a bit closer, his eyelashes slightly lowered. “Why do you have dark circles? Did I push you too hard last night, tire you out, and hinder your sleep?”

Wen Ye paused slightly, noticing the hint of a smile in those eyes. Helplessly, he pushed him away a bit, explaining seriously, “This morning, I received news of possible activity from the insects in the nearby region. With our fleet being relatively small on this journey, it’s only prudent to be more cautious.”

Bing Yunlin recalled the empty bed beside him upon waking up and immediately understood. “So, you’ve been up since early morning?”

Seeing Wen Ye nod, he fell silent for a moment before saying, “Ah Ye, I think we should establish a rule.”

“During work hours, you should address me as Commander.”

If there was something that hadn’t changed throughout their time in the service, it was their constant rise through the ranks. Bing Yunlin had always been by his side, and even now, he remained his deputy.

“Yes, my Commander,” Bing Yunlin smiled faintly, but he pulled Wen Ye over, effortlessly pressing him onto the sofa, one hand gently placed at his waist. “So, let’s negotiate. With our current speed, it’ll take at least another half a month to return to base. During this time, odd-numbered days, you’ll handle the patrols, and I’ll take your place on even-numbered days. How about it?”

Glancing at the eyes so close to his, Wen Ye furrowed his brows slightly. “But I am the captain…”

“I am also the vice-captain,” Bing Yunlin interrupted softly, his attitude increasingly gentle. “Commander, captains need rest too. And when you’re too tired, you tend to lose focus on important matters.”

At this point, his gaze fell meaningfully on the lips in front of him. “Have you ever considered that this might make me feel disrespected?”

Wen Ye: “…”

A few images flashed through his mind, and he felt a warmth rise to his ears.

Seeing Wen Ye’s silence, Bing Yunlin, with narrowed eyes, leaned in a bit closer. “Commander?”

Feeling the warm breath against his face, Wen Ye’s heart skipped a beat. He instinctively agreed and then gently pushed his hand away. “Get up first, I haven’t finished reviewing the documents.”

“Commander, at present, we have…” The communication officer, noticing the open door, stepped in without much thought, but upon witnessing the scene, nearly bit his tongue off.

Wen Ye’s attention was still on the report. “What happened?”

The officer struggled to find his voice. “Ah… We’ve officially entered the return trajectory. Please confirm the communication lines with the space station on the way, if… if you have the time?”

As Bing Yunlin threw a glance, the officer’s voice grew fainter, eventually lowering his head and remaining silent, staring fixedly at his own feet.

“I’ll check it now,” Wen Ye said.

Bing Yunlin casually released his grip, standing up.

Continuing on, naturally, Bing Yunlin effortlessly took the documents from Wen Ye’s hands. “Let me do the final check for you. You carry on.”

Wen Ye nodded and walked towards the door before suddenly remembering something. “Forgot to tell you, I’ve drafted a route for the next voyage. I left it on the table in your room last night. If you have time, remember to take a look.”

Bing Yunlin casually poured himself a cup of tea, sipping it gently, a hint of a smile forming on his face. “I’ll go there in a while. Remember to come find me tonight, so we can discuss it thoroughly.”

Wen Ye acknowledged with a reply and turned to leave. Meanwhile, the communication officer, amidst this meaningful conversation, felt his legs weaken, almost kneeling on the spot.

Although the relationship between these two was never a secret, receiving such a large amount of intimate information all at once was… a bit overwhelming to handle!

Despite the vice-captain’s usual harmless and genteel demeanor, everyone always remembered the scene from their first mission, where he effortlessly tore through the insect race.

Even now, this story circulated widely within the Third Legion. The title of the “Smiling Grim Reaper” even had the power to calm crying children, showcasing its profound and terrifying impact.

Shivering internally, the communication soldier didn’t dare to lift his head, hastily following behind Wen Ye.

Though their captain was serious and somewhat aloof at times, compared to being with the vice-captain, it felt incredibly secure!

As the footsteps faded, silence enveloped the surroundings.

Bing Yunlin didn’t rush to review the documents. He sat by the window in the rest area for a while, calmly watching the planets speeding by.

Since the issuance of their first search mission by the military, it had been over a year. However, for most people, it was still regarded as ordinary tasks of searching for energy sources.

Although many teams encountered insect soldiers during missions, few realized the ongoing race for time between the two races.

According to Bing Cang’s information, this apparent calmness wouldn’t last for long.

Even with humans’ considerable efforts, the crystal of the poisonous night was in its final stages of active restoration by the insect race.

Five years—the false peace wouldn’t last more than five years, or perhaps even shorter.

It was possible that after two years, the inter-species war recorded in history books might officially begin.

A battle once merely documented in sparse details would soon unfold before humanity’s eyes.

It would be an utter catastrophe.

Bing Yunlin disliked fighting, loathed war even more, but if that day truly arrived, he felt he would make the same choice as Wen Ye—don the military uniform and step onto that incredibly brutal battlefield.

It was the destiny of every soldier.

Bing Yunlin’s eyelashes drooped slightly as he took a sip of tea and picked up the materials lying nearby.

Before the war officially arrived, the first thing to do was to assist his captain in completing their tasks diligently.

Wen Ye, for all his virtues, was overly conscientious. If failing to complete a task meant not being allowed to rest tonight, that would indeed be a headache.

Bing Yunlin couldn’t help but recall the scene from last night, and a deeper smile formed between his brows.

Since their wedding half a year ago, the level of understanding between this couple seemed to have increased significantly.

It was truly something worth celebrating.

Chapter 121 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 121

The engagement banquet between the Wen and Lu families was probably the grandest event within the empire recently.

While Wen’s family’s status within the military needed no introduction, though the specifics of Lu’s family might not be widely known, the higher echelons were quite aware.

Aside from high-ranking military officials, notable figures from the political sphere graced the occasion. Glancing around, familiar faces from news reports populated the venue.

The banquet hall glowed softly with symphonic music providing the gentlest backdrop.

Guests from all walks of life moved through the hall. Rather than a betrothal ceremony for two rising stars in the military, it resembled more of an elite social platform, exuding tremendous grace.

The impromptu decision by Lu Kongbin resulted in such a grand setup within a short span, showcasing the stature of both families.

However, initially, when most received the invitation, it was quite a shock.

After all, Lu Kongbin’s long-standing enmity with Wen Muqiao was widely known. Suddenly becoming in-laws, beyond marveling at the whimsical nature of the world, many were at a loss for words.

Ye Ling dressed in light-colored attire engaged in lively conversation with Yu Zhi. Both were top-tier Omegas in appearance. Even as mothers, standing there, they remained a striking sight, drawing frequent glances from the guests.

While chatting, Ye Ling spotted the two approaching from outside the banquet hall and waved them over from a distance.

Today, Lu Jingning and Wen Xingchen were both dressed formally, standing tall. Perhaps due to the festive occasion, they appeared slightly different from usual, a tad reserved yet exuding a composed demeanor that carried a trace of vigor in their expressions.

Ye Ling saw through her son’s inner anxiety at a glance but merely smiled without exposing it. She handed champagne to both, addressing Wen Xingchen, “Anning can’t hold liquor and has poor taste. When toasting later, keep an eye on him. He’s in your care from today. Remember to take good care of him.”

Lu Jingning scoffed, “Mom!”

Wen Xingchen chuckled, glanced at him, and replied, “Auntie, rest assured, I will.”

Yu Zhi teased from the side, “Still calling her auntie?”

Wen Xingchen hesitated for a moment, the curve of his lips lifted, and he casually followed the tide, “Mom.”

Hearing Ye Ling’s amused response, Lu Jingning felt a slight warmth on his face even before taking a sip of the drink.

At that moment, someone’s gaze fell upon him. Sensing it, Lu Jingning looked up, meeting Yu Zhi’s immensely expectant gaze.

Lu Jingning: “…”

He paused briefly, “Mom.”

Yu Zhi smiled, her eyes narrowed, “Ah.”

The two mothers spent a good while instructing and advising the two before finally letting them go.

Even as they walked away, Lu Jingning felt as if the buzzing words still lingered in his ears. He couldn’t help but rub his temples, feeling a slight headache. “Brother Wen, is it going to be like this all day?”

Wen Xingchen chuckled, “Don’t worry, I’m here with you.”

Lu Jingning didn’t feel reassured at all hearing this, but considering he wasn’t alone in this battle, he calmed down, silently boosting his morale, “Persistence is victory. Let’s begin!”

With luminaries from various fields present today, as the protagonists of the engagement banquet, taking turns toasting was inevitable. Lu Jingning’s words made it sound like heading into battle, evoking a rare sense of solemnity.

Despite no explicit instructions from Ye Ling, Wen Xingchen was well aware of Lu Jingning’s tolerance for alcohol and made sure he didn’t drink much. Quietly and seamlessly, those who could be shielded from toasting were shielded, and for those who had to drink, lower-alcohol fruit wine was substituted whenever possible.

After toasting the important figures one after another, when it came to their familiar friends, Lu Jingning finally breathed a sigh of relief.

As his childhood friend, Yu Qingcang, naturally had to attend. He looked quite dashing in a suit today. When he saw Wen Xingchen, without hesitation, he crisply addressed him, “Stepdad!”

Wen Xingchen: “…………”

Why did that sound off somehow?

Yu Qingcang came with Ren Jin. In fact, from afar, Lu Jingning noticed their overly affectionate demeanor.

Though Ren Jin always bore the responsibility of being the captain of his support team, Lu Jingning couldn’t recall when these two became so close.

When Ren Jin wasn’t paying attention, Lu Jingning discreetly pulled Yu Qingcang aside, seeking gossip, “Bro, what’s the deal between you two?”

Yu Qingcang, upon being asked, surprisingly bashful for someone usually rough around the edges, scratched the back of his head before reluctantly disclosing their past interactions.

Lu Jingning hadn’t expected that Ren Jin was the one who noticed Yu Qingcang first. Despite his usual soft and easily shy demeanor, when it came to pursuing someone, Ren Jin didn’t hold back at all.

After hearing from Yu Qingcang, Lu Jingning fell silent for a moment and asked, “So, you’ve completely given up on Yan Hebin?”

Yu Qingcang replied, “I’ve seriously thought about it. It seems we aren’t really compatible. The academic achiever might just be the unattainable moonlight for me, while Jinjin is the one who can always be by my side.”

Lu Jingning was surprised by Yu Qingcang’s newfound understanding. It took him a while to sigh and say, “Kid, you’ve finally grown up!”

In truth, he had always known that Yan Hebin didn’t quite ignite sparks with Yu Qingcang. Seeing Yu Qingcang finally come to terms with this was genuinely comforting.

However, there was one thing he hadn’t revealed yet. He couldn’t bring himself to tell Yu Qingcang that his moonlight might soon be whisked away by another good friend.

This, he thought, better wait until things settled between Yan Hebin and Su Qian, although it seemed imminent.

When the time came for the engagement ceremony, all guests were seated, and the lights shone upon the magnificent stage at the center.

As Lu Jingning found it bothersome, the final engagement process was kept quite simple.

During the signing of the engagement agreement, Wen Xingchen hardly glanced at the content above and directly wrote his name, just as he had promised, without a hint of hesitation.

Standing beside him, Lu Jingning couldn’t help but smile at Wen Xingchen’s focused yet gentle demeanor.

Occasionally, flashes lit up from cameras below, capturing moments of today’s ceremony. Some were journalists reporting on the grand event, while others were friends capturing this beautiful scene.

In these photos, the soft glow enveloped the two figures. Without needing many words, the faint flavor of happiness permeated through them.

The straightforward procedures didn’t take much time. The final step was exchanging engagement rings.

Lu Jingning lowered his gaze slightly, watching as Wen Xingchen half-kneeled and gently lifted his hand.

He could feel the cold touch of the ring sliding onto his finger and gazed at the man full of affection in his eyes, feeling somewhat dazed.

Unintentionally, he began to anticipate what the wedding might be like.

As the evening progressed and discussions at the tables shifted from their engagement to discussions about Bing Yunlin and Wen Ye’s wedding, Lu Jingning tugged at Wen Xingchen’s sleeve, and the two quietly slipped away.

The backyard appeared exceptionally serene amidst the night. All the noise was completely shut out by the gates.

Lu Jingning, dressed in formal attire, lost the formal demeanor he had inside the hall and leaned against the railing carelessly, muttering with a smile, “Damn, that President is such a sly fox, who knows when he’ll snatch my crush away!”

Wen Xingchen leaned against the wall, raised an eyebrow slightly at the comment, “If you still care about your crush, we can still amend the agreement.”

Lu Jingning thought for a moment, “Forget it, if that happens, tomorrow’s headlines will turn into a melodramatic tale of aristocratic love and hate.”

Wen Xingchen leaned closer, flipped him over, held his jaw, and lifted it slightly, “Do you really want to change it?”

Guided by such suggestive gestures, Lu Jingning met his gaze, tilted his head, and chuckled, “How could I, Brother Wen? In this life, I only want you.”

A sentence full of affection, yet he managed to say it so casually.

Wen Xingchen leaned in a bit closer, their lips almost touching.

Lu Jingning’s eyelashes trembled slightly, and as his gaze shifted downward, he first saw the man’s alluring Adam’s apple, followed by the gland emitting a faint scent of pheromones involuntarily.

With the fireworks in his mind and without waiting for Wen Xingchen to speak, Lu Jingning suddenly tilted his head up and lightly bit his lips.

This teasing action made Wen Xingchen’s heart skip a beat. The previously still situation suddenly seemed somewhat out of control.

He responded with a kiss, his fingertips sliding calmly, seemingly unnoticed, across the intricate buttons of his formal wear. But just as he prepared to unfasten them, the door behind him was suddenly pushed open.

Under the newcomer’s ambiguous gaze, the atmosphere became incredibly awkward for a moment.

However, Bing Yunlin not only lacked the self-awareness to not disturb others but also turned to Wen Ye with a smile, saying, “Look, this is how love should be! As an elder brother, you should learn a thing or two.”

Wen Ye pondered, “I’ll try my best.”

Lu Jingning, Wen Xingchen: “…”

If it weren’t for the inappropriateness of fighting at the moment and the high probability that they couldn’t win, they’d very much want to silence the intruder.

Yet, Wen Ye remained composed, “Father wants you both to see the guests off.”

Pausing for a moment, he added, “Some things don’t need to be rushed. After seeing off the guests, there will be plenty of time.”

His words sounded remarkably comforting.

Seeing both of them turn slightly red, Bing Yunlin couldn’t help but burst into laughter before pulling Wen Ye away just before an explosion occurred.

Wen Xingchen fell silent for a moment, took a deep breath, and stood up, “Well, let’s go then.”

Lu Jingning watched him refasten the two buttons he had just undone. Despite the rare annoyance on his face, a faint smile appeared in his eyes.

Just as Wen Xingchen turned, Lu Jingning grabbed his hand, suddenly leaned in close to his ear, and whispered, “Tonight, completely mark me, alright?”

Wen Xingchen’s spine stiffened slightly as he looked over, “Do you know what you’re saying?”

“Of course, I just want to give you everything,” Lu Jingning gazed at him steadily, softening his expression, “Congratulations on our engagement, I love you.”

All words eventually returned to tranquility.

The fireworks in the sky had quietly faded, leaving behind dazzling traces in the night.

A faint curve appeared at the corners of their mouths, followed by ink-like traces spreading gradually, forming a scenery.

Wen Xingchen said, “Anning, I love you too.”

Their hands, adorned with rings, gently clasped together as they walked towards the distant lights.

There would be an immensely long road ahead, and they would walk it together, hand in hand, forever.

In that moment, there was nothing else they desired; they only wished for a lifetime together.

(End)

Certainly, here’s the translation of the text:

After all the guests had left, the entire night fell into complete silence.

The suite had been prepared early on. Just as he pushed the door open, Wen Xingchen felt a force suddenly pulling at his tie, guiding him towards the bedroom.

In a split second, as he realized, a slight curve appeared at the corner of his mouth, “Are you that eager?”

Previously interrupted midway, Lu Jingning was already quite displeased. Now, in response to his words, without hesitation, he replied, “Yeah, extremely.”

A flicker of amusement gleamed in Wen Xingchen’s eyes. The moment he stepped into the bedroom, he used the tip of his foot to kick the door shut, smoothly pressing Lu Jingning’s shoulders backward, firmly pinning him against the wall.

In the next instant, he leaned in and deeply kissed those highly tempting lips.

Such a predatory move instantly ignited the desire within Lu Jingning, intensifying with the sinking depths of the kiss. The pheromones around them surged and diffused fiercely.

The insatiable feeling left his throat parched, waves of heat recklessly collided within him, and his tone, softened by desire, trembled slightly, “Hmm… aren’t you even more impatient than I am?”

Wen Xingchen finally relented, his deep gaze falling as he murmured, “Yeah, extremely impatient.”

Lu Jingning hadn’t expected him to repeat those words at this moment. Panting, he raised his head to glare at him.

However, such a look evidently held no intimidation in this setting. Witnessing Lu Jingning’s reaction, Wen Xingchen’s lips curled up. He reached out and gently caressed Lu Jingning’s cheek for a moment, his eyes tender, “Ah Ning, let’s do this.”

Just as Lu Jingning was about to say something, a soft kiss landed again, lightly brushing against him. Suddenly, his entire body felt light as he was effortlessly lifted around the waist and placed on the bed in the blink of an eye.

Wen Xingchen knelt at his side, swiftly discarding his clothes. Seeing Lu Jingning, so emotionally charged, his eyes holding such deep emotions, for a moment, unable to restrain himself, he unexpectedly reached out and caressed his thighs without warning.

Due to years of training, his fingertips had a thin callus. Touching such a delicate area caused Lu Jingning, already engulfed in fiery passion, to involuntarily emit a comfortable hum, and his member slowly engorged further with desire.

Wen Xingchen’s Alpha pheromones intensified by the moment, spreading overwhelmingly, dominating the surroundings. Despite being an overwhelming presence to Lu Jingning’s senses, it held a fatal allure, making him struggle to contain his rationality, refraining from immediately lunging at the guy.

To come on so brazenly from the get-go, shameless!

Yet, Wen Xingchen’s teasing gestures persisted. Under such “service,” what was initially direct stimulation turned almost torturous.

Gritting his teeth, Lu Jingning, unable to resist, straightened slightly, urging, “Faster…”

As he spoke, he responded in kind, openly reciprocating with his own pheromones.

A hint of crimson edged Wen Xingchen’s eyes. The person before him, in that moment, with an autumnal gaze, proved fatally enticing. Finally abandoning his teasing, he leaned down, lightly kissing his forehead, tracing down from his nose to his chin, slowly descending.

Each move, like a dragonfly skimming water, heightened the burning desire between them.

Finally breaching the threshold, utterly losing control, they fully embraced each other.

The moment Lu Jingning was filled, an involuntary, husky moan escaped him. Simultaneously, he rhythmically moved, feeling the fusion at their union, responding in sync.

His eyes, ablaze with passion, held not just vulnerability but an intense craving, a paradox of contradictions in harmony.

Wen Xingchen felt his own desires completely ensnared, the intense comfort causing his breaths to deepen. Amid their bodies’ intense collision and overwhelming emotions, as he reached the peak, he leaned down, firmly capturing the other’s lips.

Below raged a wildfire; above, their tongues intertwined.

In that fleeting moment, both lost themselves in a chaotic haze, with only one thought remaining: to completely meld the person before them into their lives.

Their passionate entanglement left them breathless. Lu Jingning, now taking charge, hungrily nibbled Wen Xingchen’s lips, hands roving his sturdy physique.

His legs tensed, body taut, indulging in the contours of the other’s perfect frame.

Not just proportional, it feels amazing.

In a daze, his subconscious murmured.

Seemingly sensing Lu Jingning’s distraction, Wen Xingchen abruptly lifted his sliding legs, thrusting upward.

Lu Jingning grunted, burying deeper into the sheets. The forceful and frequent thrusts intensified.

A blend of immense pleasure and pain caused his moans to growl low and intermittent. Uncontrollably, a tear traced down his cheek amidst the fervent scene.

Unleashing himself, he felt Wen Xingchen more intensely today than ever before.

“Did I hurt you?”

Noticing the haze in his eyes, Wen Xingchen slowed.

Lu Jingning hadn’t felt it earlier, but being asked this way, a warmth flushed his face. “Impossible, just tired of this position.”

Wen Xingchen’s gaze flitted over his stubborn yet desire-filled face, a soft tone, “Hmm, my bad.”

Lu Jingning, suddenly feeling something amiss, tried to process, but the overwhelming sensations dulled his thoughts. Then, as he regained his senses, he noticed Wen Xingchen withdrawing abruptly. As he blinked, the scenery had shifted to the bathroom. The two were tightly pressed together, facing the mirror on the vanity, his crimson-faced reflection vividly clear.

The desire that had subsided surged wildly upon seeing his own aroused expression.

“Satisfied with this position?”

Wen Xingchen leaned down behind him, blowing lightly in his ear.

The teasing tone nearly made Lu Jingning lash out, but before he could react, Wen Xingchen plunged back in from behind, and the sound at his lips turned into an utterly intoxicating moan.

The rush of pheromones within Lu Jingning made him feel somewhat weak from the overwhelming passion. His legs were giving in when Wen Xingchen firmly held him as he slid down, the figure behind him huskily murmuring, “Look at me.”

Lu Jingning’s gaze through the nearby mirror met Wen Xingchen’s eyes, both completely entangled in an embrace without a single stitch of clothing.

A certain indescribable sensation surged within him, followed by increasingly intense thrusts, waves of pleasure flooding his mind.

Under continuous stimulation, Lu Jingning clung tightly to the counter, under the influence of alcohol and pheromones, unabashedly moaning.

The relentless climaxing sensations brought the ultimate peak nearer. Just as he felt on the brink of release, sensing Wen Xingchen’s subconscious retreat, Lu Jingning suddenly grabbed his arm forcefully, almost embedding into his flesh.

“Wen-ge, mark me, completely mark me.”

Wen Xingchen hesitated momentarily.

Before Lu Jingning could say more, the desire surged again, overwhelming him. The intense sensation caused his neck to arch involuntarily, then a surge of heat flowed out from within.

Simultaneously, warmth spread within, engulfing the depths of his core, the excessive pleasure inducing a prolonged blankness in his mind.

Lu Jingning hadn’t anticipated that a complete marking would feel like this, never thought he’d experience such a moment of blissful detachment.

After the release came a profound sense of exhaustion. Just as he was about to collapse, a hand firmly supported him from behind. Amidst his foggy consciousness, he heard Wen Xingchen’s husky voice, “An Ning, shall we stop here?”

Almost instinctively, he replied, “Don’t stop, continue.”

This was a decision he had painstakingly made—he intended to completely surrender himself today.

The process of complete marking was intricate and complex, merging an Alpha’s mark entirely into an Omega’s body wasn’t an easy feat.

However, conveniently in the bathroom at that moment, after rinsing away the thin sheen of sweat with the dispersing hot water, they resumed against the bathroom wall, entwined in continued intimacy.

Repeatedly marking, one after another, neither remembered how many times they did it. Finally, without bothering to turn off the shower, they completed the entire marking process amidst the warm mist.

When Lu Jingning woke up, he found himself lying in bed. Trying to sit up, he felt a piercing pain in his lower abdomen, involuntarily sucking in a breath.

This movement caught Wen Xingchen’s attention. Opening his narrow eyes, he pulled Lu Jingning into his embrace, softly asking, “Is it hurting?”

Gritting his teeth, Lu Jingning replied, “Try it yourself.”

Wen Xingchen chuckled, countering, “So, how does it feel now?”

Lu Jingning was momentarily stunned, unable to come up with an immediate response.

The entire process of complete marking was lengthy and intense, but now, in the calm aftermath, it almost felt like a distant dream.

If asked what had changed, he couldn’t pinpoint it immediately. Yet, if asked if nothing had changed, he felt a subtle shift in the atmosphere between the two of them.

After a brief silence, a smile crept onto his lips. Coiling around Wen Xingchen like an octopus, he sighed, “Well, it’s probably like feeling attached to you?”

Wen Xingchen’s eyes softened, “Then cling to me for a lifetime.”

Chapter 120 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 120

Just by seeing Lu Jingning, who came over as if nothing happened to invite him for a meal, Wen Xingchen knew that he probably forgot everything from last night again.

Wen Xingchen raised an eyebrow slightly and gathered the books in his hands, “You woke up at the right time. The commander said there’s something he wants to discuss with us. He said to wait for you to get up before going together.”

“Weren’t we just back at the base? Why is he looking for us at this time? Could it be another mission?” The hangover from yesterday made Lu Jingning feel like his entire head was throbbing. He furrowed his brow, rubbing it, and suddenly a thought flashed through his mind, “Ah, could it be news about recognition for our deeds so soon?”

“It’s possible.” Wen Xingchen patted his head and pulled him outside, saying, “Let’s go and find out.”

There was no one else in Jiang Quan’s office. It seemed like he had been waiting for them. Seeing the two enter, he calmly closed the door behind them.

Sensing the serious atmosphere inside, Lu Jingning glanced at Wen Xingchen, feeling puzzled.

This expression doesn’t seem like good news. Could he have misunderstood something?

Fortunately, Jiang Quan wasn’t interested in prolonging the suspense. He placed an electronic document in front of them, getting straight to the point, “Both military departments are highly concerned about this matter. Yesterday, I met with your Empire’s authorities. According to them, theoretically, your performance this time can be considered as outstanding merit, earning you the rank of Colonel, which isn’t unreasonable.”

Lu Jingning was initially pleased, but then his thoughts turned, realizing it couldn’t be that simple. He asked with a half-smile, “But?”

Jiang Quan, being seen through, maintained a neutral expression and continued, “However, because the discovery this time is of significant importance, to ensure our strategies against the insect race in the future and recover the energy stones, this matter cannot be disclosed to the public for now.”

Lu Jingning’s expression shifted from disdain to disgust, “So, are they planning to casually brush aside the merits we’ve risked our lives for? These high-ranking officials in your military are all the same, one more sinister than the other, squeezing us, the labor force at the bottom.”

Hearing this, Jiang Quan choked a bit on his own words, unable to suppress a cough.

Having led so many soldiers, at least those individuals outwardly advocated for the greater cause of their race. Seeing someone so shamelessly rushing for credit was a first for him.

As if anticipating this, Wen Xingchen timely offered a prepared cup of tea.

However, at this moment, the calm and composed demeanor only added an uncomfortable undertone to the situation.

Jiang Quan glanced at him with a complicated expression, finally calming himself after a few sips, and said, “Kid, if you can’t speak sensibly, better keep quiet! The military has always rewarded based on merit. None of your deserved merits will be discounted! But, it’s just not the right time yet!”

Lu Jingning’s expression changed from disdain to contempt, “Is this how the current military operates? Still holding debts? I… “

He was about to say something more when he felt the intense pressure in Jiang Quan’s glare, so the words at the tip of his tongue changed very timely, “I… think this is fine! Look, everything is clearly stated in this document. Although it can’t be disclosed externally until we officially engage the insect race, in practice, both Wen Xingchen and I have rightfully attained the rank of Colonel. Isn’t that what it means?”

“If you like to understand it that way, then do so!” Jiang Quan gritted his teeth, trying to explain as calmly as possible, “All corresponding privileges at the Colonel level within the military system have been granted to you both. Except for not being publicly disclosed yet, you can unconditionally enjoy all benefits of the Colonel rank.”

At these words, Lu Jingning’s eyes completely lit up, sincerely saying, “Thank you, Commander!”

However, Jiang Quan had no intention of giving him any more attention, impatiently waving his hand, “Now, go!”

Exiting the office, Lu Jingning was practically bouncing in his steps, as if he could fly at any moment.

His dreams, his life’s goals, from this moment, seemed to have finally gained acknowledgment of their existence.

While walking, he couldn’t help but boast to Wen Xingchen, “Brother Wen, we’ve only been in the service for a short time, and now we’re already Colonels!”

Wen Xingchen watched his ecstatic expression and added at the right moment, “And currently the youngest Colonels in both military departments.”

Lu Jingning continued to swell with pride, “No, I should say, the only Omega Colonel in the entire galaxy!”

Wen Xingchen chuckled, “You’re amazing!”

Lu Jingning, uplifted by his words, suddenly realized something was off and stopped, looking suspiciously, “You’re being so supportive today. Honestly, do you want something from me?”

Seeing his thoughts shift so quickly, Wen Xingchen didn’t hide anything, raising an eyebrow and suddenly closing in, pinning him against the wall.

Their gazes met at a breath’s distance.

Wen Xingchen didn’t show any panic at being seen through but smiled faintly, speaking calmly, “This morning, Wen Muqiao called me, saying both Uncle Lu and he are quite eager. So, I thought I should request your permission. When can we take some time off and arrange our engagement?”

Under the enveloping scent of Alpha, Lu Jingning unconsciously responded to his words, “Ah, this matter can be approved, no problem.”

Wen Xingchen lightly touched his face, “Then, thanks in advance, Brother Lu.”

Having received the answer he wanted, Wen Xingchen chuckled softly, stood up, and left.

Lu Jingning stood in place for a while, his gaze lingering on that departing figure for a long time before he snapped out of it.

Damn, did he just agree too casually?!

What surprised Lu Jingning was that the urgency in Lu Kongbin’s insistence on his engagement wasn’t something made up by Wen Xingchen.

That same night, he received a communication from his own father, setting a date and warning him to return home early, or else the engagement wouldn’t proceed.

Lu Jingning stayed silent for a long time in response to this complete reversal of attitudes. Only after asking did he realize that incidents from earlier had reached the ears of both sets of parents.

The recent crisis made them suddenly aware that their sons, after entering the Joint Elite Force, faced too much uncertainty during missions. Some things needed to be sorted out quickly.

But with this pace, Lu Jingning strongly suspected that the next step might involve them being urged to have grandchildren.

Given his father’s instructions, he did request time off from Jiang Quan.

Probably understanding the purpose of their return, when approving the leave, Jiang Quan didn’t inquire much, just raising an eyebrow at them, “Don’t forget my invitation.”

“Of course, we won’t!” Lu Jingning smiled warmly, but as he turned away, he secretly sighed.

Damn, if that hadn’t been brought up, it might’ve been overlooked!

Since they couldn’t travel together, Wen Xingchen saw Lu Jingning off as he boarded the ship, lightly embracing him and whispered near his ear, “The next time we meet, it’ll be at the engagement banquet.”

Lu Jingning didn’t feel much initially, but with this tease, his ears suddenly felt a bit warm.

Just as he was about to say something, Wen Xingchen released him, gently patting his head, “Until then, my soon-to-be fiancé.”

Lu Jingning was briefly startled, then smiled, “Until then!”

Initially, it sounded more like an impulsive decision for an engagement ceremony made by Old Lu. Surprisingly, it was meticulously arranged.

It wasn’t until Lu Jingning returned home that he realized even Lu Jiyuan and Lu Xuebai, the two perennially absent bigwigs, had also stayed at home, an uncommon sight.

The engagement agreement was personally drafted by Lu Jiyuan.

The two engagement rings were said to be made of rare minerals sent by the Wen family, customized by Lu Xuebai using the latest scientific techniques, exquisite and unique.

Even Lulu, the little robot, cheerfully wore two bright roses on its head, one on each side, wrapped in black silk, resembling the two pigtails of a character from an ancient mythological book.

Lu Kongbin was busy finalizing the specific arrangements for the banquet with the Wen family. Ye Ling was repeatedly confirming the number of arriving relatives and friends for that day.

In comparison, Lu Jingning, the protagonist, oddly became the most idle one.

Roaming aimlessly from upstairs to downstairs, then downstairs to upstairs, he, who usually attracted attention wherever he went, was now being treated like a mobile signboard, ignored by everyone as if he were just a moving figure.

When Lu Jingning engaged in a holographic video call with Wen Xingchen that night, he vented about the cold treatment he received.

After listening, Wen Xingchen had a meaningful smile in his eyes, “Do you know what state you’re in right now?”

Lu Jingning: “What state?”

Wen Xingchen glanced at him, “Pre-wedding syndrome.”

Lu Jingning: “…………”

He hadn’t thought about it before, but now, when he reflected on his overall state in the last few days, involuntarily imagining himself as a bride-to-be, surprisingly, he felt no dissonance.

After a moment of silence, he retorted, “Just engaged, what does that have to do with pre-wedding syndrome? Unless, do you want to skip the wedding?”

Wen Xingchen smiled faintly, “Of course, we’ll have the wedding. But since we’re already engaged, do you think I’d let you run away again?”

“Know that it was my big brother who drafted the engagement agreement? Don’t be too sure. After you’ve seen it, dare to sign it then!”

Seeing Lu Jingning’s pretend calmness, Wen Xingchen couldn’t help but let out a laugh.

Lu Jingning glared at him, “What’s so funny? Be serious!”

“Uh-huh, serious.” Wen Xingchen cleared his throat, though the curve of his lips disappeared, his voice still carried a hint of suppressed laughter, “But Ah Ning, as long as I can keep you by my side forever, do you think there’s any agreement I wouldn’t dare to sign?”

Even though it was just a holographic image, under the firm gaze of the other, Lu Jingning suddenly felt a bit overwhelmed.

In the end, with a flushed face, he forcefully squeezed out a sentence, “Signing is a must! If you dare not sign, on the day of the engagement, I’ll break your legs!”

Wen Xingchen pondered for a moment, his brows slightly raised, “A must-do, obvious thing, I won’t dare not to do so.”

Chapter 119 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 119

Lu Jingning paused for a moment before recalling, immediately crawling out of the ground, then bending down to pull Wen Xingchen out from behind.

It was only then that Feng Pei realized they hadn’t died, kicking over the half-burnt incense on the ground as he rushed forward.

“Where the hell did you two go?” Cen Junfeng rubbed his eyes repeatedly, confirming it wasn’t an illusion, making the quiver in his voice more pronounced, “Damn it, you had us searching everywhere!”

He did want to rush over for a hug, but both of them were covered head to toe in bloodstains, appearing as if not a single part of them was unscathed, making him instinctively hesitant to touch them, fearing he might cause pain.

Afraid of hurting them.

Lu Jingning finally managed to step back onto the ground, feeling a mix of emotions from the reactions, and said, “I also want to know where we went.”

That experience was quite bizarre; it seemed unbelievable even when spoken about.

Yan Hebin had been standing in the same spot, gazing for a long while. Now, he hid the relief in his eyes and reminded, “Let’s hurry back, the commander is still waiting for us.”

Feng Pei tapped his head, agreeing, “Yes, let’s go back first!”

Lu Jingning didn’t get a chance to say anything before being supported from both sides. Seeing their cautious demeanor, it was as though they were afraid he’d fall apart with just a little force.

Looking back, Wen Xingchen was receiving the exact same treatment.

When their gazes met, both couldn’t help but smile wryly.

Upon hearing the news of Lu Jingning and the others being brought back, Jiang Quan hurriedly rushed to the medical cabin. There, he found the two sitting shirtless on the bed, surrounded by tattered clothes stained with blood.

The medical staff stood still, appearing somewhat perplexed.

Lu Jingning sighed, feeling helpless, “I’ve said it so many times, we really are fine. Why won’t you believe us?”

The medical staff: “…”

Given their disheveled appearance just a while ago, saying they had no injuries at all—who would believe that?!

Yan Hebin had been by their side all this while. Now, after a moment of silence, he said, “I’ll inform Su Qian.”

Lu Jingning watched him leave, feeling a bit surprised.

When did these two become so close?

Jiang Quan stood nearby for a while, realizing no one had noticed him. He coughed lightly.

Lu Jingning turned at the sound, instantly brightening up, “Commander, we have something to report!”

Initially intending to offer some words of comfort, Jiang Quan found the other party more direct, and almost choked on his own saliva after a cough, waving his hand to ask everyone else to leave temporarily.

With only the three of them left in the room, Lu Jingning and Wen Xingchen exchanged glances and took out the energy stone they had concealed.

The translucent box contained a crystal-clear stone emitting a faint green light.

Jiang Quan initially thought their return alive was a stroke of luck, but he hadn’t expected them to find an energy stone. His surprised expression flickered momentarily, and then he noticed something different, “This stone…”

Wen Xingchen briefly explained their experience and discovery.

Jiang Quan listened quietly, sinking into a prolonged silence. Eventually, he carefully took the energy stone and, with a solemn expression, said, “You two are heroes of all humanity!”

The title seemed a bit too weighty, but Lu Jingning didn’t seem to mind at all, casually saying, “No need for too many compliments. Just mention it to the higher-ups and give us some random military rank. Nothing too high, Colonel sounds good to me.”

Jiang Quan: “…”

He regretted his earlier praise. Why did he have to compliment this cheeky kid?

Seeing the grin on Lu Jingning’s face, Jiang Quan felt a slight ache in his heart. However, before leaving, he gritted his teeth and left a remark, “Just wait!”

Lu Jingning beamed, “Thank you, Commander!”

Wen Xingchen timely held him back, not letting him continue blabbering, fearing Jiang Quan might come back and give them a kick.

After everyone left, the entire ward fell into silence.

Lu Jingning felt a strong wave of drowsiness washing over him. Changing into clean clothes, he yawned, “So tired, finally, I can rest.”

Also, can’t remember how long it’s been since I had a good night’s sleep. Being underground, without daylight—if it weren’t for the timely energy stone restoring their stamina, just digging non-stop day and night, they might’ve truly been buried alive there.

Lu Jingning felt sore all over and was about to lie down for some rest when he noticed Wen Xingchen on the next bed had pulled the covers back a bit, looking at him with a half-smile, “Want to sleep together?”

Lu Jingning blinked, and immediately, a smile twinkled in his eyes. Without hesitation, he jumped straight off the bed, “Of course!”

In an instant, another person appeared in Wen Xingchen’s embrace.

His eyes filled with a deeper smile, Wen Xingchen gently wrapped his arms around Lu Jingning, and they quietly slipped into slumber.

Truly, they were exhausted.

The existence of the healing energy stone was evidently top-secret, and Jiang Quan hadn’t informed anyone else about it.

The Star Gaze Team only knew the two had narrowly escaped death. The next day, in a very humane manner, they waited until nearly noon before waking them up.

However, as soon as they pushed the hospital bed, the first thing they noticed was the empty bed opposite.

Cen Junfeng vaguely remembered Lu Jingning had slept there yesterday. He was wondering if this guy had suddenly stopped sleeping in, but then, he caught sight of the unusually swollen blanket on Wen Xingchen’s bed.

Cen Junfeng: “…”

Damn, did these two return just to save on meal expenses?!

As if hearing some commotion, Lu Jingning’s head popped out from under the covers, rubbing his eyes groggily.

As the Star Gaze Team contemplated whether they should leave to avoid suspicion, Lu Jingning casually greeted, “Morning, everyone!”

The group: “…Morning.”

So, what exactly were they mulling over?

Lu Jingning clearly had no awareness of anything amiss. When he sat up on Wen Xingchen’s bed, he even pinched the person beside him lightly, “Brother Wen, it’s time to get up. The sun’s shining on our butts.”

A lazy response came from under the covers where Wen Xingchen was nestled, “Mmm.”

The Star Gaze Team watched expressionlessly as Lu Jingning tossed the covers aside and got up, rummaging around his bed for a while, finally pulling out a set of military attire. With a yawn, he headed into the adjacent bathroom.

During this process, the conspicuous golden tuft on his head swayed gently with each movement.

Wen Xingchen also sat up from his bed, his face carrying a hint of drowsiness, seemingly displeased at being disturbed.

Noticing the direction of everyone’s gaze, he narrowed his eyes dangerously, “Anything else?”

The tone cut through the air, and a palpable pressure emanated from the Alpha, as if a strong sense of coldness surged up the spine.

Cen Junfeng’s voice raised abruptly, “We’re here to wake you up for breakfast. After eating, we’ll board the ship back to base. Since you’re awake, hurry up, we’re about to leave!”

Almost without pause, he dragged the others away in a hurry, seeking survival instinctively.

It was only after traversing several corridors that they felt the chilling pressure finally dissipate.

The group exchanged looks, hesitantly asking, “Did you guys feel it… Wen Xingchen seems to have become much stronger again?”

Others thought the mission hadn’t been completed, returning to the base with a sense of unease, fearing Jiang Quan’s reproach or intensified training.

Unexpectedly, upon reaching the base, Jiang Quan, this living judge, not only showed no sign of reproach but actually gave them a few days off, insisting they rest properly.

It was truly surprising and felt a bit overwhelming.

To celebrate Lu Jingning and Wen Xingchen’s miraculous survival, everyone from the Elite Team took a spacecraft to a nearby asteroid and had a good meal there.

Returning fully fed and with wine in their veins, it was already late at night, and the starry sky became the most beautiful decoration.

No one noticed the disappearance of the two as soon as they disembarked.

In the corridor beside the dormitory building, Lu Jingning cornered Wen Xingchen. In this close proximity, he could feel the scorching breath brushing against his skin.

Partly due to the alcohol, his face was blazing hot. He reached out playfully, lifting Wen Xingchen’s chin, bringing his neck closer, eyes filled with allure, “Come, take a bite, mark me, be a good boy.”

For some reason, he had an impulsive desire, sparked by alcohol, to receive Wen Xingchen’s mark—a yearning to be bound to this person for life.

Wen Xingchen looked at him.

Under such unrestrained teasing, some distant memories suddenly flashed in his mind. His lips curved involuntarily, “Getting drunk and acting out like this… doesn’t this scene feel familiar to you?”

Lu Jingning squinted, a bit impatient, “Huh? Are you marking me or not?”

Wen Xingchen chuckled, glancing at Lu Jingning’s eager expression with half-lowered eyelashes, “At your service.”

He reached out, pressing Lu Jingning’s slender Omega wrist against the wall, his gaze falling on the gland exposed at the neck, and then he leaned in and bit.

Lu Jingning let out a soft hum, gradually losing himself in the fusion of pheromones, succumbing to the enchantment of that embrace.

The second group, returning to the dormitories, had just arrived nearby. Among them, Feng Pei had drunk the most today. Though his steps seemed unsteady, his vision was surprisingly clear.

Inadvertently catching a glimpse of two vague figures in the corner, he mustered all his strength and shouted, “Who’s there?!”

Cen Junfeng, dizzy and eager to climb into his comfortable bed, jolted at the shout. As he looked in that direction, the alcohol-induced haze cleared a good deal.

Seeing Feng Pei’s slightly widened eyes, about to approach to investigate, Cen Junfeng hastily reached out, subduing the guy with poor observation skills, pressing him firmly to the ground, and firmly covering his almost-sinning mouth.

After a couple of muffled sounds, Feng Pei’s glare seemed to depict someone viewing a traitor to the cause.

Cen Junfeng, his already splitting headache worsening, pleaded, “Stay still, buddy. Trust me, you’ll thank me for saving your life tomorrow…”

Slightly melancholic, he glanced up at the intense night sky, a hint of determination flickering in his eyes.

Seems like it’s time to no longer be single.

Chapter 118 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 118

The massive explosion was more than ten times greater than the previous one, and even the elite members ambushing in the distant area were affected by the flying rocks and soil.

Covered in dirt, looking quite disheveled.

Tang Jiaze had already found Fanzhou and others, currently hiding in a secluded place, waiting for Lu Jingning and Wen Xingchen to join them.

In this situation, his expression became unpleasant.

On this desolate planet, besides Lu Jingning and Wen Xingchen, he couldn’t come up with a second guess about who would confront the insect race.

Fanzhou coughed repeatedly, and in the end, he coughed up some water in his eyes. “Could it be…”

“Do not draw conclusions without certainty!” Tang Jiaze sternly organized him to refrain from speculating further. However, looking at the scope of this explosion and considering the safety of the remaining people, he could only grit his teeth and say, “Board the ship, return!”

Someone choked, “What about Lu Jingning and the others?”

“This is an order!” Tang Jiaze commanded.

A solemn silence enveloped the surroundings. Finally, people began to move towards the remaining warship.

Just when the last group of elite members was about to evacuate, everyone thought that someone who had sacrificed for the country had opened their eyes in the dimness.

Did someone survive?

The first thought that flashed in Lu Jingning’s mind.

It wasn’t until he tentatively moved his body, feeling the heavy pressure on him, that he realized he wasn’t dead!

Realizing this, he quickly pushed aside the rocks on his body one by one and finally sat up.

Slowly getting used to the dimness around him, he saw the person next to him.

Wen Xingchen lay there motionless, eyes closed, without any sign of breath, as if…

Lu Jingning subconsciously controlled himself not to think further.

In an instant, he felt a bit cold, almost without any thought, he tried to recall the first aid operations he had learned during the special training.

Clearly pressing on Wen Xingchen’s chest over and over again, he felt as if a huge hammer was pounding heavily on his heart.

Lu Jingning felt the blood in his body gradually solidifying with each passing moment. Seeing no effect, he couldn’t stay calm anymore. With crimson eyes wide open, he bent down towards that mouth.

For the first time, he regretted his usual carefree attitude and lack of ambition. Otherwise, at this critical moment, he wouldn’t be helplessly resorting to artificial respiration.

Breath after breath entered, followed by another…

Lu Jingning didn’t know how long it had passed.

The only thought at this moment was that no matter the cost, Wen Xingchen must survive.

Unconsciously, sweat gathered on his forehead and silently dripped down.

Lu Jingning vaguely didn’t notice the slight tremor in the eyes of the person in front of him.

Just as he raised his head to breathe again, a hand suddenly reached from behind, pulling him into an embrace.

The soft touch on his lips felt somewhat unreal at this moment.

Lu Jingning couldn’t help but freeze, feeling the dry corners of the lips brushing against a somewhat rough friction.

Wen Xingchen’s voice was low and hoarse, somewhat teasing, “How come I didn’t realize you were so fierce before? You’re almost biting through my lips.”

Lu Jingning raised his eyelashes and met a pair of gentle, somewhat helpless eyes.

His fingertips moved slightly, and the dim environment seemed to brighten at that moment.

He couldn’t help but punch the chest in front of him, not daring to use too much force. “You’re awake and still playing dead!”

Wen Xingchen hooked his mouth. “Just woke up.”

After examining the wounds, Lu Jingning realized that due to Wen Xingchen protecting him, his entire back was affected by the explosion.

It was a gruesome sight of flesh and blood, truly shocking.

This made him feel a pang of heartache, but in the current dim and narrow space, they had already wasted a lot of time. They had to leave here as soon as possible.

The two supported each other and began to grope towards the depths of the cave.

Lu Jingning’s sleeves were soaked in blood, but compared to Wen Xingchen, he felt embarrassed to call himself a casualty.

Every step was agonizingly painful. Wen Xingchen tried to divert their attention: “How did we get here?”

Lu Jingning shook his head, “I don’t know, I woke up here.”

Wen Xingchen furrowed his brow, “The explosion created by Bai Chen was intense, how could it…”

Lu Jingning seemed to recall, “Right, I think I saw the ground glowing at that moment.”

At that angle, he was facing Bai Chen.

At this critical moment, the only thought was to suppress everything with pheromones without holding back.

But before reaching Bai Chen, cracks appeared on the ground around him, and a faint green beam leaked from the earth.

Struggling to remember the scene before his faint, Lu Jingning’s gaze inadvertently caught a glint at the end of the dim cave.

He hesitated slightly, “That light, it’s that one!”

As they approached, the light became clearer.

When they finally emerged from this deep cave and saw the scene before them, both of their faces revealed a hint of astonishment.

According to their earlier assumptions, they had entered the depths of this desolate planet for some reason, but everything before them overturned their understanding once again.

In normal perception, the underground should be dark and silent.

But here, all they saw was lush vegetation, far more vibrant than the desolation above ground.

With colorful petals everywhere, bathed in a mysterious green light, it seemed surreal.

Feeling Wen Xingchen gently holding his hand, Lu Jingning cautiously stepped onto the land, heading towards the source of the green light.

Their presence didn’t disturb the tranquility; it was as if even their breaths blended seamlessly into it.

With each step, Lu Jingning felt the gentle light enveloping him, soothing the irritation from his wounds like an incredibly gentle hand.

Simultaneously, the waves of pain that should have surged began quietly dissipating.

He couldn’t find words to describe this sensation, almost as if it were celestial healing.

Lost in this excessively dreamlike environment, Lu Jingning was brought back by Wen Xingchen’s voice, “The wounds are healing.”

Instinctively, he looked at his arm.

The bloodstains remained outside, but through the torn sleeve, the skin looked smooth, without the gruesome scar of the injury.

At that moment, they finally saw what emitted the light.

A completely green, translucent crystal.

Lu Jingning incredulously looked at the small object in his palm, “This should be the energy stone we were looking for, it saved us.”

Wen Xingchen, gazing at his healed wounds, murmured, “A healing type? I’ve never heard of it before…”

He met Lu Jingning’s gaze, “I think I understand why Bai Chen self-destructed.”

Lu Jingning added, “I think I do too…”

Given Bai Chen’s perverse nature, no matter how one thought of it, choosing self-destruction without a direct fight seemed too eerie.

Now, the only plausible possibility was—before their mission, he had already received a directive to destroy it at any cost if unable to acquire it.

No wonder Bai Chen’s team had so many experts stronger than him. In retrospect, those Zerg soldiers were merely testing their strength, gauging the necessity of self-destruction.

The Zerg clearly didn’t want humans to know about this healing-type energy source.

It wasn’t difficult to comprehend; only this way could they silently repair the toxic night crystals and catch humans off guard.

Despite being usually eccentric, at the critical moment, Bai Chen chose unconditional compliance with orders.

Lu Jingning realized for the first time that Bai Chen was indeed a soldier.

Standing still for a moment, he sighed with some emotion, “It seems surviving a disaster brings unexpected fortune! Do you think we accidentally made an extraordinary military achievement?”

Wen Xingchen lightly smiled, “Yeah, quite remarkable.”

The Zerg obviously inferred what happened upon discovering the explosion on the surface. The warships scattered around the desolate planet were already at a disadvantage under the siege of the Second Legion, and at this point, they no longer persisted, retreating completely. Jiang Quan had been closely monitoring the rescue operations on the desolate planet. However, among the returning personnel, Lu Jingning and Wen Xingchen were nowhere to be seen. A slight dimness flickered in his eyes, “Well done, go rest.”

As the words fell, someone beside stepped forward, resolute in tone, “Commander, I request permission to return to Kaidos.”

Jiang Quan glanced up.

Feng Pei met his scrutinizing gaze, unconsciously straightening his back, gritting his teeth and speaking again, “Please grant permission, Commander!”

Yan Hebin also stepped forward, “Please grant permission!”

“Please grant permission!”

“Please grant permission!”

In a blink, one after another, the other members of the Starwatch team also stood up.

Jiang Quan looked at these youthful faces, his heart faintly jumping, accustomed as he was to the departures and farewells. Even though he knew it was likely just another disappointment for them, when the words were about to leave his lips, he sighed deeply, “Go, then, go.”

The Second Legion gathered nearby, already conducting a comprehensive search of the desolate planet under Wu Lu’s orders. Seeing the Starwatch team still unwilling to give up and choosing to stay, no one said anything. The legion’s search ships began leaving one after another.

Finally, on the remaining half of Kaidos’ surface, only a lone small spacecraft remained, with a few figures sitting sporadically around a campfire.

Feng Pei planted three incense sticks in the vast soil, looking mournful. The days of searching had left fatigue etched on his face, deep dark circles framing his eyes. His voice was hoarse from the dryness, “Lu Jingning, Wen Xingchen, though I had some grievances against you initially, in reality, you were decent people. Apart from the occasional annoying pretense, you were tolerable. Now that you’re gone, I don’t know what to say. In the future, whenever I have the chance, I’ll come here to burn incense for you. Safe travels.”

Beside him, Cen Jun’s voice choked, nearly crying like a fool.

Yan Hebin’s eyes reddened. Reluctant to believe, the information gathered over the past few days forced him to accept this reality. His lips pressed together slightly, about to say something when, illuminated by the firelight, he suddenly noticed the ground beside them subtly shift.

Feng Pei, annoyed by the others’ silence, said, “You claim to be their good friends, and now that they’re gone, you don’t have anything to say…”

Before he could finish, the ground, previously rolling slightly, suddenly burst open with a thud.

Immediately after, a disheveled head unexpectedly appeared in front of them.

Feng Pei’s heart skipped a beat, almost biting his tongue. As he vaguely recognized the face, his breath involuntarily stopped for a few seconds before he screamed at the top of his lungs, “Ghost—!!!”

Lu Jingning, who had managed to tunnel back to the surface from below, blinked in confusion: “???”

Chapter 117 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 117

The thought in Lu Jingning’s mind flashed by, and before he could step forward again, a hand had already stopped him.

Wen Xingchen’s face was as calm as water. “Stand behind me.”

For the first time in his life, Lu Jingning enjoyed the treatment of a hero saving the beauty. A hint of laughter flashed in his eyes, and he leisurely stopped his steps, obediently saying, “Sure, Brother Wen.”

The dialogue between the two seemed to stimulate Bai Chen’s nerves. A hint of gorgeous crimson was bitten out at the corner of his lips. His voice was cold, “Attack them all!”

Wen Xingchen responded, “As you wish.”

The pheromones belonging to Alpha exploded, sweeping the surroundings with an unprecedented fierceness. The oppressive force was so strong that even Lu Jingning, standing behind, felt an uncontrollable tingling on his skin.

A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.

Whether it was because of anger or the opponent’s overwhelming strength, in any case, it was the first time he saw Wen Xingchen exerting his full power.

However, such high-intensity outbreak evidently imposed a significant burden on the body itself.

Lu Jingning stood still for a moment, with a furrowed brow, deeply sighing.

The feeling of doing nothing like this was truly uncomfortable, like sitting on pins and needles, like walking on eggshells, like having a fishbone stuck in the throat.

Forget it, being a delicate beauty really doesn’t suit him.

Glancing at the crimson that had been effectively stopped on his arm, he took a step and instantly joined the battle.

Wen Xingchen could feel the familiar breath approaching suddenly. After skillfully avoiding an energy beam from the enemy, he couldn’t help but ask, “Didn’t I tell you to stand behind me?”

Lu Jingning gestured to his position, grinning, “Of course, I didn’t run ahead of you.”

Wen Xingchen: “…”

Seeing his displeasure, Lu Jingning added sincerely, “I just feel safer standing by your side!”

Wen Xingchen’s tone paused slightly, reminding, “Don’t move too much, be careful of your wound.”

If such words were heard on ordinary occasions, Lu Jingning might find them nagging, but because it was Wen Xingchen who spoke, in the current situation, it strangely felt sweet, like honey: “Okay, Captain!”

Wen Xingchen couldn’t help it and finally revealed a faint smile on his tense face.

Really, not forgetting to be talkative even in such a situation.

The cooperation between the two was always tacit. At this moment, they assisted each other seamlessly, and there were almost no flaws in the offense and defense.

The insect soldiers tried to launch attacks several times but were overturned one after another.

During the offensive, Lu Jingning casually picked up a knife from a corpse. The material was unknown, probably a rare metal. In his hands, it was like a toy for a child, more lethal than those new high-tech weapons.

In other words, he was a walking humanoid weapon.

Although he didn’t say much before, the fact that he got injured in this situation made him feel extremely frustrated.

Even when he was brawling with Lao Lu, at most, he would just get a scratch. But facing these bugs, why the hell did this happen?

The joint attack of the two was fierce. In a blink of an eye, except for Bai Chen standing in the rear, there were only three insect creatures left on the battlefield.

The one with blue hair was obviously the strongest. After losing several times, his eyes narrowed slightly. He flew forward like a ghost, directly attacking Lu Jingning.

His nails instantly lengthened sharply, extremely sharp, aiming to pierce his neck.

In the moment Lu Jingning swiftly retreated, Wen Xingchen had already lifted his hand to block. The sharp friction sound echoed around.

Lu Jingning, with limited knowledge of the insect creatures, had never heard of such a method of enhancing body parts to the extreme for attack. In surprise, he couldn’t help but hesitate.

The soldier’s attack missed, and he regretfully licked his sharp nails with his tongue. “Ah, what a pity.”

The sticky green liquid passed over his tongue. Obviously, it was the venom commonly used by the insect creatures.

Before the words fell, instead of retreating, he became even more aggressive.

Swinging his claws created a chilling wind, forcing the two to step back repeatedly.

Lu Jingning sidestepped to avoid an incoming claw. Seeing the deep crack on the ground where he had just stood, the corners of his mouth involuntarily lowered.

After such intense fighting, the wounds that had just healed were torn open again. Without looking, one could imagine the blood flowing once more, accompanied by the agonizing pain.

Damn, it really hurts!

He gritted his teeth, no longer retreating. With a forceful step, he suddenly changed the momentum and directly charged towards that damn insect.

Damn it, never-ending annoyance!

At this moment, Wen Xingchen was concentrating half of his physical information energy, and he caught a glimpse of the figure that darted out. It almost disrupted his energy.

The insect, in the midst of an attacking spree, didn’t expect this sudden move. Feeling like the prey had willingly come to him, a smirk appeared on the corner of its mouth.

Just as he was about to viciously attack that beautiful face, he suddenly felt a heavy pressure coming straight at him, crashing into him.

In the moment of being dazed, a rain of intense punches from the opponent mercilessly struck him.

Lu Jingning: “Damn it! Enjoying the fight, huh? Let me give you a real thrill! Want another round of excitement?!”

He had had enough!

Where there is oppression, there is resistance. Concentrating all the pheromones into his fists, Lu Jingning, after avoiding the annoying claws, unleashed a barrage without a second thought.

Today, he won’t stop until the opponent sees stars. Otherwise, they might never understand why flowers are so red!

Lu Jingning’s fists were now incredibly powerful, even smashing into rare metal ores would leave an imprint, let alone the small body of the insect creature.

In no time, the skin burst, flesh became a blur of blood and gore.

If it weren’t for finding this scene too disgusting, Lu Jingning would have wished to turn them into a lump of meat paste.

Only after the lifeless mess on the ground for a long time did he catch his breath, disdainfully wiping his hand stained with green insect blood. “Damn, shouldn’t have been polite to them! Too used to it!”

Wen Xingchen: “…”

When Lu Jingning turned around and met his gaze, just as he was about to say something, Wen Xingchen turned expressionlessly away.

Next, almost invisible movements unfolded. In an instant, he had the other two insect creatures pinned to the ground.

After resolving the situation, Wen Xingchen calmed the surging pheromones within him and turned to Lu Jingning, saying casually, “These guys, nothing special.”

This time, it was Lu Jingning’s turn to be silent.

Although there were no unnecessary words, for some reason, he felt that Wen Xingchen seemed to be taking the opportunity to showcase something to him—something like an incredibly strong power.

Before, Ye Ling said Alphas liked to establish a tall image in front of their mates. Now, it seemed to be true.

How extraordinary Wen Ge was, and he always said that Lu Jingning was the flashy one. Look now, obviously, he was the one who enjoyed it the most.

However, such a scene on Wen Xingchen did seem somewhat absurd.

After suppressing the crazy smile that surfaced, Lu Jingning turned to look at Bai Chen.

At this moment, with no soldiers following him, he stood alone, still on the distant mound, looking down at them.

Bai Chen obviously didn’t expect that the elite he brought would be dealt with so cleanly. A fleeting look of surprise flashed in his eyes, but there was no panic as the two approached.

It was Lu Jingning who looked at him, and Bai Chen, with a pleasantly surprised smile, said, “Indeed, the Omega I chose is truly extraordinary.”

His gaze seemed to carry a hint of greed, sticking to Lu Jingning’s body, making him feel intensely uncomfortable from head to toe.

Lu Jingning’s brow involuntarily furrowed. Just as he was about to speak, Wen Xingchen silently blocked him.

Wen Xingchen spoke to Bai Chen, “You have no way out.”

Bai Chen, who had lost to Wen Xingchen in the bounty competition, now standing alone in front of the two, admitted his disadvantage without hesitation, “Yes, no way out.”

Because of being blocked, his gaze was forced to fall on Wen Xingchen. There was disgust all over his eyes, but the smile on his face became even more triumphant. “However, what does it matter? As a warrior, dying on the battlefield is the best ending. Although I regret not being able to make a name for myself, but…”

Pausing slightly, his smile became more sinister, “But, having you two accompany me is also such a delightful thing.”

Lu Jingning stared at him without blinking, suddenly noticing the faintly shining color in that hand. His heart jumped, “Xingchen, be careful!”

However, Wen Xingchen’s reaction was even faster than his.

Almost instinctively, he turned and directly pulled Lu Jingning into his arms, using his entire body to tightly shield him.

Lu Jingning lifted his head and met the deep gaze. In that moment of eye contact, he responded with a soothing smile.

His heart suddenly skipped a beat, and in an instant, all the pheromone energy in his body erupted completely. It felt like an invisible giant hand, a fierce wind, pressing heavily towards the area where Bai Chen was.

At the same time, the light in Bai Chen’s hand unexpectedly exploded.

Centered around it, a massive crimson light burst out like hungry ghosts from hell, wildly spreading around and quickly devouring all the land in the vicinity.

The once silent desolate planet, due to the tremendous explosion, was now tainted with the color of half the sky. Even the warships in the interstellar battle above were attracted by the glaring light.

Jiang Quan, who had been closely monitoring the situation, abruptly stood up from his chair, staring fixedly at the screen.

Looking down from high above, one could see that a portion of the ground on the desolate planet seemed to have been carved out, deeply sunken, surrounded by numerous cracks, a shocking sight.

A slight tremor ran through his heart.

He was, of course, familiar with the means the insect creatures used for mutual destruction, but to push the opponents to this extent in the elite team, could it be…

Jiang Quan’s hand holding the controller trembled slightly.

For a moment, he was hesitant to delve further into his thoughts.
