Chapter 26 – The Mist (2)

Moschery shielded Qin Yun’s head and waited until the turbulence of takeoff had passed before bracing himself.

“Qin Yun?” He lifted up the other person’s drenched bangs. The whites of the guide’s eyes had turned pure gold, and the pupils were staring unfocused at one point.

“Chris!” Moschery shouted. He held Qin Yun in his arms and shouted again at a higher volume, “Chris!”

There was a crackling sound from the c0ckpit, and Chris ran out in a panic, shouting, “I-It’s my first time to fly a spacecraft! My driver’s license is expired…” He was startled when he saw Qin Yun and then exclaimed, “Oh my God! How much stimulant did he use?!”

Moschery remained silent with a stern expression. He watched as Chris took out the detection device and skillfully began the examination.

“How is he?” The Emperor asked nervously, “Is he okay?”

Chris gave him a strange look, “Isn’t he your guide… Shouldn’t you know the situation best?”

Moschery, of course, didn’t want to admit that he hadn’t made the final mark with Qin Yun yet, so he could only scowled and coldly said, “Shut up!”

Chris pursed his lips and complained in a low voice, “Such a bad temper… Your guide must be too doting on you.”

       Moschery: “…”

Qin Yun regained some consciousness and saw Chris tending to the needle marks on his wrist, and the young researcher felt the man under his hand struggle.

“Ah…I’m not a bad person.” Chris quickly raised his hands and added weakly, “Although I once went astray…but I have changed my ways now!”

Qin Yun relaxed and found himself leaning against Moschery. The sentinel lowered his head, grabbed his chin and kissed him without saying a word.

“Ahem…” Chris was embarrassed. He shifted his gaze and started whistling.

Qin Yun blushed, and Moschery, on the other hand, kissed quite earnestly. After a while, he moved away, furrowing his brow and asking, “Why didn’t the pheromones work?”

Chris finally had the chance to come over, “No way…” His eyes fell on Qin Yun’s neck, “What is this?!”

“…” Qin Yun reached out to cover the eye of the needle and said vaguely, “It’s nothing… I’ve been injected with a suppressant…”

Chris’ expression became serious. He didn’t speak and didn’t listen to Qin Yun’s explanation. He stubbornly carefully put the blood collected previously into the instrument and chose the option to test the ‘guide’ value.

Moschery’s expression didn’t look good, “What on earth did they inject you with?”

“…Nothing.” Qin Yun said weakly. He pretended to look around and changed the topic, “Where is Zhongyan?”

Then he saw the Emperor’s expression almost crumbling in an instant.

Moschery was silent for a long time. He stared closely into Qin Yun’s eyes and said word by word, “It’s right at your feet, can’t you see it?”

At the same time, the red light on the tester rang sharply…

Lin Dongliang, amidst the recent conflicts between the cabinet and the military, received the main war declaration from the Eta Star. His expression changed drastically upon seeing the war decree. The pretext used was ‘territorial infringement’, and the transmitted images clearly displayed Qin Yun’s unchanged military boots with the Imperial Military Department insignia. Below was the proof of Lan Zhi’s brain death and detailed information about the other party’s high-level SSS guide.

Berlin sat across from him calmly. Her eyes fell on Skarter’s face with contempt, “The general’s soldiers are indeed extraordinary. If I remember correctly, isn’t he also a low-level guide?”

Lin Dongliang took a deep breath. Unable to expose the relationship between Qin Yun and Moschery yet wanting to protect the former, he almost didn’t hesitate to take the responsibility himself, “It’s me…”

“I sent him there.” Skarter said with a smile. He took a deep look at Lin Dongliang with gentle eyes, “I suspected that there was a god-level gene on Eta Star, so I asked someone to investigate.”

Berlin raised her eyebrows, laughed, and stretched out her hands to straighten her hair, “Violating the peace treaty is a serious crime, General. Haven’t you thought about the consequences?”

Skarter did not answer. He stood up, took off the military medal on his shoulder and gently placed it on Lin Dongliang’s table. He looked sideways at Berlin and said, “I will accept Eta Star’s declaration of war… regardless of the outcome. But I’ll handle it on my terms.”

Moschery stood in the c0ckpit and watched the holographic video sent by Lin Dongliang in silence. The other person no longer had his signature gentle expression; his eyes were as cold as ice, and he had a Skarter military badge on his chest.

“The military department was seized of half of its troops by the cabinet under the pretext of investigation… Eta Star asked Olympus to increase its troops, and the number of guides and sentinels was more than three times ours.”

“Skarter has gone to the front line immediately, and I will go there later to assist the General.”

“General Tristana Lane will do his best to contain the cabinet and wait for the safe return of you and Guide Qin.”

“On the issue of military support, I have sent a request to Duke Garcia… but as of now, there has been no response.” Lin Dongliang lowered his head and reached out to cover the military medal on his chest, “Your Majesty, I have one last personal request.”

He smiled and looked at Moschery on the other side of the screen, “We will fight to the last moment. If something unfortunate happens, please bury me and General Skarter together.”

“I believe that one day, justice will break the shackles of the system.” Lin Dongliang bowed respectfully, “I look forward to the time when you regain Olympus.”

Chris carefully observed Moschery’s face from the side. After a while, he finally couldn’t help but hesitantly say, “In half an hour… he will completely lose his ability to guide… Why don’t you go and take a look?”

Moschery didn’t answer. He turned around and walked to the back cabin. Chris behind him scratched his hair and could only follow helplessly.

The temporary spaceship did not have a rest area. Qin Yun slept quietly on Moschery’s clothes, and Zhongyan positioned him in the middle. When Moschery entered, he saw that the rhinestone Toothless made by the guide was hung around the neck.

The other end of the pendant was held in Qin Yun’s hand. He could no longer see the dragon. He could only tell where Zhongyan was by relying on the small pendant.

Chris turned away, unable to bear to look any further, but Moschery’s expression did not change.

He knelt down and gently loosened Qin Yun’s fingers, and took him into his arms.

       Qin Yun woke up.

“What’s wrong?” Even though he was about to lose his guide ability, Qin Yun could still detect Moschery’s emotional problems immediately, “Did something happen to the royal family?”

Moschery held the hand that the other party extended, and he stroked the bandage on Qin Yun’s wrist, “It’s fine. Go back to sleep.”

“Can’t sleep anymore…” Qin Yun muttered, and he adjusted his position to make himself as comfortable as possible in the arms of His Majesty the Emperor.

Moschery opened the visor of the rear cabin. The spacecraft had not yet left the atmosphere of Eta Star, and the floating clouds were filled with golden morning light.

“How much longer?” Qin Yun suddenly asked, “My guide ability?”

Moschery didn’t speak. After a long time, he answered indirectly, “It’s my fault. There are no god-level genes on Eta. We fell into Olympus’s trap.”

“Oh…” Qin Yun was stunned. He didn’t expect Moschery to apologise, so he could only pretend to be relaxed and said, “Fortunately, we didn’t make the final mark… Otherwise, I wouldn’t have the confidence to hypnotise your consciousness.”

“Do you want me to forget about you?” Moschery looked down at him.

“…” Qin Yun opened his mouth.

       Moschery: “You are my guide.”

“…I will no longer be a guide.” Qin Yun said sternly, “And…there may be real god-level in the future…”

“There won’t be any more god-level.” Moschery said calmly, “From now on, I only have you.”

Qin Yun raised his arms to cover his eyes. He could clearly feel that his mental power was gradually dissipating. Moschery interlaced his finger with his, lowered his head and kissed each other tenderly.

“I… I want to perform the ritual.” Qin Yun’s eyes were red, but no tears fell. He was somewhat nervous. After taking a deep breath, he hesitated for a long time before speaking in a hoarse voice, “I would like to be your lighthouse, guiding your way, smoothing the scars of loneliness and the surges of stormy seas.”

This was the oath that the guide made when they first signed a contract with the sentinel. Qin Yun didn’t know whether Moschery understood it or not, so he looked at the other party with some anticipation and caution.

Moschery smiled; he closed his eyes piously, put his forehead against Qin Yun, and said in a low and sweet voice, “My life belongs to you, and your soul…”

The Emperor embraced his guide under the rising sun, and the golden light fell on them.

“And my soul, will be with you.”

The author has something to say:
It’s not actually that heartbreaking… considering I’m typing on my knees (just kidding)

Chapter 8 – To Fall Ill

Zhuo Yue did not reject the idea of homosexuality and thought it was just another form of love, but he did not consider himself homosexual. He had a girlfriend when he was studying at drama school. Although they didn’t have a substantial relationship, he did feel something during the kisses. That impulse stemmed from the instinct of a man.

But at this moment, he had the same impulse from witnessing the SM behaviour of two men. That desire grew wildly like weeds in the spring breeze. When he found that he had started caressing his genitals without knowing, he trembled all over, got up and rushed into the bathroom.

Because masturbating for this kind of thing was really hard for him to accept. He doused himself with cold water and finally suppressed the evil fire with a trembling body. When he woke up the next day, his head was groggy, and his breathing was heavy and blocked.

       He obviously…caught a cold.

Zhuo Yue struggled to get up, washed briefly and then went downstairs to have breakfast. When he saw Fang Mingyan, his face turned red. He said, “Morning” and looked away.

“You look so bad. You didn’t sleep well?” the man asked while drinking coffee.

“…Yeah.” He responded softly, drank a small bowl of porridge, and then returned to the room to recite his lines.

Fang Mingyan raised his lips silently at his back. Today he had some work matters to deal with, so he went to the company after breakfast. When he came back in the afternoon, the butler Zhou Chi said, “Young Master Ming, Mr. Zhuo barely had anything to eat at noon, and he said there was no need to call him for dinner. So can you…”

“I’ll go up and have a look.”

The man stood outside the guest room door and knocked, but there was no movement. He pushed the door open and entered, the room was dark with no lights on. He looked around and saw no one. He was stunned for a moment, and then he noticed a pile of quilts on the single sofa by the window. He took a closer look and saw Zhu Yue was curled up in a ball under the quilt. He tilted his head like a rice dumpling and fell asleep, holding a book in his hand.

“Zhuo Yue?” Fang Mingyan called softly.

The other party’s eyebrows moved. He woke up in a daze, and his black and white eyes looked at him confusedly.

       “It’s time to eat.”

“Yeah, coming.” His voice was muffled.

The man noticed something strange and raised his hand to turn on the light. He found that the man huddled under the quilt was listless, and his face was abnormally red. He put his hand on his forehead and frowned, “You have a fever.” He said. Then he removed the quilt and said, “I’ll take you to the hospital.”

Unexpectedly, upon hearing this, Zhu Yue grabbed the quilt tighter, like a snail shrinking into its shell, and refused, “I’m not going.”

Fang Mingyan was puzzled by his stubborn attitude, “Why?”

“It’s just a cold. I’ll be fine after a good night’s sleep…” He was breathing hard and had a heavy nasal voice.

“Whether it’s a cold or not, that needs a doctor to determine.”

       “I won’t go.”

The man shook his head helplessly and simply picked him up with the quilt on his side and placed him on the bed. Then he came in with a medicine box and took his ear temperature with a thermometer. “Thirty-eight point five degrees. Zhuo Yue, the temperature in the room is constant. Why do you catch a cold?”

He lay there with a bit of embarrassment in his eyes and said nothing.

“Do you want to answer the question, or do you want me to roll you up in a quilt and take you to the hospital?”

He turned his head slightly and whispered, “I took a cold shower yesterday.”

A trace of surprise flashed in Fang Mingyan’s eyes, and then he curled his lips in understanding and did not continue to ask. After a while, a middle-aged man in his forties came to see a doctor in a white coat. He confirmed it was just a common cold and fever, prescribed some medicine and left. The man forced him to eat a few mouthfuls of hot porridge, then took fever-reducing medicine. The man put a small ice pack on his forehead to cool down and joked, “Taking a cold bath. You are very self-restraint.”

Zhuo Yue was so groggy that he didn’t hear clearly what he said, so he just sighed, closed his eyes and fell asleep. The distant and indifferent gaze in his eyes was covered, making him look a little more gentle. The eyelashes quivered gently between breaths, like the wings of a small insect.

Fang Mingyan looked at the sleeping face sunken into the soft pillow, smiled lightly, and reached out to tuck him in.

In order for the master to have a comprehensive understanding of the slave’s behaviour, numerous prisms at different angles were embedded in the walls of the cage. Zhuo Yue’s whereabouts were revealed the moment he appeared at the stairs that night. What surprised the man was that his eyes did not show disgust or rejection when he looked at their behaviour. Instead, his eyes turned from shock to shame, and finally, he ran away quietly. It now appeared that he had developed a desire, and instead of masturbating, he took a cold shower.

This approach fits his personality very well and was very interesting.

Zhuo Yue’s constitution was not very good to begin with. Recently, he was pursued for debts, narrowly avoided a compromising situation, and was stressed about auditions. All of this left him physically and mentally exhausted. Finally, he relaxed a little under Fang Mingyan’s wings, but his vitality hadn’t fully recovered. The ordeal with the cold was quite severe, with a fluctuating fever persisting for three days before the temperature finally subsided.

He opened his eyes and looked at the man leaning on the bedside reading the report. The other party personally took care of him patiently and meticulously for three days. He was so grateful for the patience and care he had received, but he didn’t know how to say it.

The room was very quiet. Fang Mingyan felt his gaze, lowered his head and asked, “You’re awake, are you thirsty?”

Zhuo Yue shook his head and said with some embarrassment, “I’m sorry for causing trouble to you these days.”

The man smiled and naturally stretched out his hand to touch his head, “If you feel sorry, please get better soon.”

A cold like this was easy to get rid of and sometimes lasted for ten days and half a month. Fang Mingyan cared about everything for him and asked the chef to prepare nutritious meals for him without showing any signs of inconvenience. Zhuo Yue, though grateful, was not adept at expressing his feelings eloquently. He just took the initiative to make him a cup of tea or cut some fruits and silently did the trivial things he could. Fang Mingyan never acted like a boss towards him. Ever since he discovered Zhuo Yue’s tendency to blush, he often teased him deliberately. After getting along for a period of time, Zhuo Yue, who was cautious at the beginning, gradually adapted to the situation and became familiar with each other’s styles.

That night, the two had dinner. Zhuo Yue made black tea and handed it to Fang Mingyan.

“Sit down.” The man stopped him.

A variety show was playing on the TV, and a popular girl group sang and danced happily on the brightly lit stage.

“What do you think?” Fang Mingyan asked.

Zhuo Yue looked at it for a while and said, “It’s pretty good.”

“If you could pick someone to be your girlfriend, who would you choose?”

He was stunned and asked, “Are you going to create a scandal?”

Fang Mingyan smiled faintly and did not respond.

Since there was already an agreement to hand over oneself to the other party, Zhuo Yue stopped asking, looked at it again and said, “The second one from the left.”

       “Reason?”

“Looks relatively gentle and not very scheming.”

The man curled his lips while looking at the TV, picked up the teacup on the table and took a sip, “This kind of scheming heart, if it’s noticeable to others, indicates a low level of sophistication. In the entertainment industry, there was no such thing as true unity or peaceful coexistence. If you observe carefully, you will find that the person you chose answered the host’s questions at least twice and deliberately fell down to steal the spotlight in the game. It’s just that she did it more naturally, without any obvious signs of intent,” He glanced at Zhuo Yue and said, “Your insight is terrible, but your choice is correct. If you want to stir up sex scandals, it is best to choose such a useful and smart girl.”

“No matter what the company arranges, I will cooperate.”

Such a serious and rigid attitude amused Fang Mingyan, who leaned on the sofa and looked at him with half-squinted eyes.

Zhuo Yue felt uncomfortable and asked awkwardly, “What’s wrong?”

“When you are serious.” The man’s lips curved into a smile, “You do exude a restrained charm.”

       “…it’s called boring.”

“Then let’s talk about something that’s not boring.” Fang Mingyan changed the subject, “For example, why do you resist going to the hospital?”

Zhuo Yue was stunned. He was silent for a moment, and said, “The atmosphere in the hospital feels very depressing.”

“You know I can tell if you’re lying.” The man’s eyes were as clear as cold stars.

Zhuo Yue’s gaze shifted, turning towards the teacup in his hand, and slowly said, “My biological mother suffered from gastric cancer. When it was discovered, it was already in the late stage, and she eventually passed away in a hospital bed. She was extremely thin in those last days. I was very young at that time and couldn’t do anything except cry. When she was in intense pain, she would bite the pillow and her own arm, and her mouth would be filled with blood. I didn’t dare to sleep every night because I was afraid that if I fell asleep and woke up again, she would… be gone.” He paused for a moment and continued, “Later, she died, and I couldn’t contact any relatives, so I stayed in the morgue for two days. Later, several kind-hearted neighbours helped organize the funeral, and she was cremated. I don’t like going to the hospital; it gives me a sense of fear.” These words were spoken very slowly, without any embellishments on past events, yet they conveyed the desolation and despair of a six-year-old child at that time. Many years had passed, but he still harboured a fear of the place that took his mother away.

Seeing him showing his vulnerability to himself without reservation, Fang Mingyan felt a little unbearable, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t ask these things.”

“It’s been a long time.” Zhuo Yue smiled at him and suddenly said, “If Chairman Fang feels sorry, why not tell me something you’re afraid of in exchange.”

The man was startled for a moment, then smiled like a spring breeze, “Cat.”

“You’re afraid of cats?” Zhuo Yue opened his eyes wide.

Fang Mingyan saw his surprised look and smiled, “You look like you’ve discovered a new world.”

“Why are you afraid of cats?”

       “I won’t tell you.”

Zhuo Yue raised his eyebrows and smiled. His handsome face was like a white plum blossom reflecting the snow, as beautiful as a painting.

Chapter 25 – The Mist (1)

The corridor of the laboratory was damp and dark. As Qin Yun walked, he couldn’t help but smell the remaining scent of Moschery’s pheromones on his body. None of the gatekeepers doubted his identity as a ‘sentinel’ and let him pass after looking at the name tag.

The squeaking sound of military boots on the ground was a bit loud in the quiet corridor. Qin Yun lowered the brim of his hat and slowly peered through the windows one after another. His expression was tense as he carefully expanded his mental web.

When he was almost at the end, someone stopped him.

“Why is it so slow today?” The person who came was a sentinel, grumbling under his breath and pushing Qin Yun’s back, “The innermost room. Hurry up and get it in.”

Qin Yun nodded vaguely. He stumbled a little because he was pushed. As he hastened forward, he almost collided with the door. Fortunately, the door was slightly ajar

He pushed the door open with the corner of the dinner tray, and Qin Yun discovered that it was a very large laboratory. There was an unconscious avian man tied up in the corner, the lower half of his body bruised and battered.

Several strong sentinels pressed a slender boy onto the experimental table, ignoring the other’s screams and struggles.

“Where’s the syringe?” Qin Yun heard one of them ask, “Try to see if there’s any resistance…” The other person seemed to be in a good mood and smiled, “I heard that the blood of these beasts is like an aphrodisiac for humans, is that true?”

“Don’t overdo it,” another person warned.

“We’re just having some fun. It won’t kill anyone.”

Qin Yun stood stiffly on the spot, and the dinner tray in his hand fell to the ground with a ‘bang’ sound…

Lan Zhi stopped resisting when he saw the sentinel that was holding him down suddenly fall to the ground and fall unconscious. He looked up at Qin Yun blankly and then stared at the ground in a daze, “Are they… dead??”

The whites of Qin Yun’s eyes glowed with light gold. He took off his clothes and covered the boy, “No. Just hypnotised.” After a pause, he looked at Lan Zhi, “Can you stand up? I’ll take you out of here.”

The young man seemed to have tried it and said in frustration, “No… I don’t have any strength in my legs…”

Qin Yun frowned. He bent down, and as soon as his arm wrapped around the young man’s back, a sharp pain suddenly came from his shoulder blade, and Lan Zhi’s hand somehow had an extra dagger condensed with spiritual energy.

Qin Yun shook him off violently and said angrily, “You’re a guide?!”

Lan Zhi didn’t say anything. He smiled strangely and made a strange gesture. Before Qin Yun could recover from the pain, he was clipped with both arms backwards and pressed face down hard on the experimental table.

“…” Qin Yun almost fainted from the pain and closed his eyes with a pale face.

“He’s a guide.” The sentinel pressing him sniffed lightly, “He’s been marked.”

Qin Yun remained silent. Lan Zhi grabbed his hair and forced him to look up, “Where is your sentinel?”

As expected, he didn’t get any answer. Lan Zhi didn’t mind. He stood up and directed the other standing sentinel, “Take that thing out.”

The other party seemed to hesitate for a moment and took out a tube of reagent from his pocket.

“Do you know what this is?” Lan Zhi shook the needle and stretched out his fingers to press Qin Yun’s carotid artery, “Tell me where your sentinel is?”

       Qin Yun clenched his fists.

Lan Zhi clicked his tongue and shook his head, “What a pity… You didn’t establish the final mark with him? You are obviously a low-level…” The young man’s eyes suddenly widened, and his whole body trembled uncontrollably. The sentinel was the first to notice something was wrong. He quickly hugged him, and when he turned around, he saw Qin Yun had opened his eyes at some point, and the golden colour in his eyes seemed to overflow.

“In-inject him..!” Lan Zhi screamed with his last bit of consciousness, and then he was like a puppet whose strings were suddenly cut off, and in an instant, he lost his life.

The golden colour in Qin Yun’s eyes slowly faded, and he looked like he had just been fished out of the water. His bangs were wet and stuck to his pale face.

The sentinel, who was holding Lan Zhi, had an ugly expression on his face, “Brain dead? …How did you do it?”

Qin Yun moved his lips, but he no longer had the strength to speak.

The sentinel narrowed his eyes. It took some effort for him to pull out the tightly held needle in Lan Zhi’s hand. He took a few steps forward and stared at Qin Yun condescendingly, “You are that person’s guide.” He said with a firm tone, and then he stretched out his hand and pressed Qin Yun’s neck.

When the cold needle touched his neck, Qin Yun trembled subconsciously. He lowered his head and looked at the slowly decreasing liquid in the needle from the corner of his eye.

“It’s too late,” another person exclaimed in fear, “that person is here.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a huge dragon claw overturned the entire roof of the building from the outside.

Qin Yun struggled to get up from the experimental table, his shoulder blades aching. He tried several times before pulling off the label on the reagent. When he saw the words on it clearly, Moschery had already walked up to him with a sword in hand.

Qin Yun slowly raised his head slowly and was taken into the Emperor’s arms without a word.

The raised roof filled with the morning breeze. Qin Yun stretched out his hand tremblingly to hug Moschery’s back. He loosened his clenched fist, and the label was blown away. It curled up a few times before it landed in the distance, revealing the front.

Serial Number: First Class Forbidden Substance.

Name: Brain Nerve Disruptors.

“Let’s go.” Moschery embraced Qin Yun thoroughly before carrying him up, “Let’s get out of here.” He said, calmed down and carefully checked the other party’s injuries, “What’s that in your neck?”

Qin Yun said nonchalantly, “Ah, they gave me a normal suppressant…”

“Why would they give a low-level guide a suppressant?” Moschery frowned. He stretched out his thumb and pressed the eye of the needle, “Does it hurt?”

Qin Yun opened his mouth, but he didn’t know how to answer.

Moschery observed his expression, “Is it that painful?” He lowered his head and got close to Qin Yun’s neck, “I’ll lick it for you…”

Qin Yun didn’t say anything. He held Moschery’s shoulders tightly and buried his face in the other person’s neck.

Moschery, with a somewhat smug disdain, remarked, “You are already this old yet still acting like a baby.” However, his grip on Qin Yun tightened even more.

There were already many avian folk and sentinels gathered outside the experimental building, but Moschery didn’t take them seriously. He rode on the back of the dragon and signalled Zhongyan to attack the second body of the bird people directly in the air.

“You assist Zhongyan in clearing the way, and I’ll deal with those behind.” Moschery drew out his sword, held the back of Qin Yun’s head, lowered his head and kissed his lips.

Qin Yun only kissed the Emperor for a while, then reluctantly pushed the Emperor away. He wiped his mouth awkwardly, “That’s enough…”

Moschery was not very happy, but he couldn’t let his displeasure show too much and asked the others to kiss him again, so he could only snort angrily and jump off the dragon’s back with his sword in hand.

Qin Yun breathed a sigh of relief. He took out the stimulant from his bag with shaking hands and injected himself with one without hesitation.

But his mental power was still being depleted.

Qin Yun gritted his teeth, stretched out the guiding tendrils, and used the second stimulant.

Zhongyan let out a low dragon roar, and Qin Yun controlled his guiding tendrils to split into a mesh, protecting the dragon’s chest and back like armour.

The avian-man defence circle in the sky was severely torn open by Zhongyan, and the huge black wings were like a raging storm, indestructible.

Qin Yun crushed the last stimulant syringe. His vision was blurry, and his wrists were stained with blood.

Moschery had already run to the side of the spacecraft. Chris pulled up the handle in the c0ckpit, and Zhongyan flew down quickly. Moschery opened his arms to embrace Qin Yun and rolled in the moment the hatch closed.

Chapter 24 – The Little Girl

Song Jun could not imagine what kind of accident would cause the hospital to seal up the entire staircase, but under these circumstances, he was not in the mood to inquire in detail with Feng Junyuan.

This staircase suddenly appeared here, and it was an obvious trap waiting for them to step into.

However, even if they didn’t go, there seemed to be no other better option.

Feng Junyuan suddenly took a step forward, and Song Jun grabbed his hand.

Song Jun was not a person who liked taking risks, but Feng Junyuan was different. He preferred to face danger head-on. Even if it might not end up well, it was better for him than waiting at the same place.

Feng Junyuan said to Song Jun, “You go back and wait.”

He always believed that he was the one who got Song Jun into trouble, that the little girl was against him, and that Song Jun was just innocently dragged in.

Song Jun was a naturally kind-hearted person. The more Feng Junyuan said that he didn’t want to implicate him, the more worried he became about Feng Junyuan. Finally, he let go of Feng Junyuan’s hand and said, “I’ll go with you.”

Feng Junyuan did not refuse him, and the two of them walked towards the stairwell.

As soon as he stepped in, Song Jun saw a little girl wearing a patient’s uniform sitting on the steps with her back to them at the bottom of the stairs, humming softly.

Feng Junyuan also stopped at this time, glanced at Song Jun, and then said to the little girl, “Are you Zeng Yuanyuan?”

       The little girl stopped humming.

       Feng Junyuan walked towards her.

“Yuanyuan,” Feng Junyuan said as he walked down the stairs, “Do you hate me? Do you want to seek revenge on me?”

The little girl raised her hand and hooked her fingers through her long hair and shook it gently.

Feng Junyuan walked up to her and reached out to touch her shoulder. The little girl suddenly disappeared from there.

Song Jun looked at Feng Junyuan’s movements and felt extremely nervous. At this moment, he suddenly felt someone tugging at the hem of his clothes. He turned around and saw the little girl standing next to him, pulling on the hem of his clothes and looking up at him with her pale little face.

Song Jun was immediately frightened and took two steps back, almost falling down the stairs. Fortunately, he held on to the handrail in time.

The little girl took a step forward to pull him, but suddenly, her eyes widened, and her expression became distorted. She raised her hands to cover her chest as if she was in pain.

Song Jun took the opportunity to run towards Feng Junyuan, grabbed Feng Junyuan’s hand, and ran downstairs.

Feng Junyuan glanced back at the little girl but did not stop and ran downstairs with Song Jun.

The two of them ran three floors, and then they saw the little girl blocking their way. She stretched out her arms and held them back, refusing to let them pass.

Song Jun gasped, grabbed Feng Junyuan’s arm and pulled forward hard.

Feng Junyuan was almost knocked down by him and said, “What are you doing?”

Song Jun said, “Can’t you transform? Why don’t you change quickly at this time?”

Feng Junyuan suddenly became furious and yelled at Song Jun, “I can’t! I don’t know what’s going on!”

After saying that, Feng Junyuan pulled Song Jun back to the upper floor, pushed open the stairwell door, and entered the corridor.

After walking to the corridor, Feng Junyuan stopped because he found that this floor was the operating room.

Compared with other inpatient floors, the operating room was more closed and dark, without any light.

Feng Junyuan and Song Jun sat down against the chairs beside the corridor wall, and Song Jun sensed that Feng Junyuan was a bit furious.

He didn’t spend much time with Feng Junyuan, but he knew that Feng Junyuan was a person with a bad temper. At this time, the two of them didn’t know where to go, so Song Jun asked Feng Junyuan, “When did you start seeing those things?”

Feng Junyuan leaned his head against the wall and said, “Since I was little, I don’t remember when.” After that, he added, “It’s not like I can see everything; I can just see things from time to time.”

Song Jun said, “I only saw those things when I came here to study. Last time you said I was marked, did you also see something?”

Feng Junyuan looked at him and said silently, “I saw the scratches on your face. I know that they are not visible to ordinary people. It was a mark left by evil spirits.”

Song Jun subconsciously raised his hand and scratched his face, “I think demons and ghosts like to haunt me. I don’t know why.”

Unexpectedly, after hearing what he said, Feng Junyuan said, “Me too.”

Song Jun took a long breath, “What should we do now?”

Hearing this, Feng Junyuan stood up and suddenly shouted, “Zeng Yuanyuan, come out! If you want revenge, come at me. Don’t play tricks on us like this!”

After speaking, Feng Junyuan pushed open the door of the operating room and walked inside.

Of course, Song Jun didn’t want to wait alone. He followed Feng Junyuan in and saw Feng Junyuan running inside, opening the operating room doors one after another, looking for the little girl.

Song Jun thought he was going crazy, but there was nothing he could do to stop him at this time.

When Feng Junyuan pushed open a door in front of him, he suddenly stopped.

Song Jun followed, stood next to Feng Junyuan and looked into the operating room. He found that there was someone inside and an operation was being performed.

Feng Junyuan looked at the people on the operating table in a daze. The person lying on it was clearly a little girl, and among the people standing next to him, one of them was Feng Junyuan.

This was an operation that had happened in the past. During this operation, a little girl named Zeng Yuanyuan stopped breathing and passed away from the world she had briefly lived in.

Feng Junyuan watched the people next to the operating table unplug the little girl’s intubation, remove the anaesthesia needle, and suture her surgical incision. When all this was done, the people beside the operating table left silently, including himself, who was standing there. A minute later, he also left from the operating table.

The little girl was the only one left on the operating table, and the lights dimmed. She had stopped breathing, and suddenly, her chest began to rise and fall as if she was in pain.

She held her chest and began to breathe heavily, then slowly sat up from the operating table, turned sideways, jumped down, and walked towards Feng Junyuan’s direction with difficulty.

Song Jun originally wanted to speak, but when he saw Feng Junyuan standing motionless, he fell silent again. He felt that Feng Junyuan was probably not as indifferent to the death of the little girl as he appeared on the surface.

When Song Jun was very young, he had once dreamed of becoming a doctor. Sometimes, when his grandmother wasn’t feeling well, he would accompany her to the hospital and think that if he could become a doctor, he could prescribe medication for her. As he grew older, many of his childhood dreams became less realistic, and in the end, he didn’t choose that path.

He didn’t feel like he had anything to regret, but at this time, he felt that he could understand Feng Junyuan’s mood.

The little girl walked to Feng Junyuan. He squatted down, raised his hand to touch the little girl’s hair, and said, “I’m sorry, Doctor Feng can’t save you.”

The little girl raised her head, looked at Feng Junyuan, and suddenly stretched out her hand and handed him something.

Song Jun saw that it was a paper crane made of sugar paper.

Feng Junyuan was stunned for a moment and said, “This is the paper crane I folded for you. Do you like it?”

The little girl just looked at him with innocent eyes.

Feng Junyuan said to her, “If you like it, should I fold it for you again?”

The little girl didn’t speak, but in the next moment, her expression suddenly became ferocious.

Song Jun was startled, thinking that the little girl wanted to hurt Feng Junyuan, but he didn’t expect the little girl to reach out and cover her chest with a very painful expression.

“Yuanyuan?” Feng Junyuan called her name.

The little girl took two steps back, leaned against the operating table, and slid to the ground.

At this time, Song Jun heard the sound of footsteps coming from outside. It was the sound of leather shoes, pacing neither hurriedly nor slowly, neither lightly nor heavily, echoing towards their direction.

The little girl raised her head as if someone was holding her throat.

As the footsteps approached, Song Jun suddenly felt nervous. He subconsciously retreated towards the operating room and then listened to the footsteps until the sound walked to the door of the operating room. Then Xiang Wenshi appeared at the door of the operating room.

He didn’t know why, but when Song Jun saw Xiang Wenshi at this time, he didn’t feel at all at ease.

Xiang Wenshi seemed slightly relieved when he saw Song Jun and Feng Junyuan. He said, “So you are here. Come with me quickly.”

Song Jun did not move but glanced at Feng Junyuan.

Feng Junyuan stood up and said to Xiang Wenshi, “Teacher Xiang? Why are you here?”

Xiang Wenshi said, “I know something happened to you, and I came to pick you up.”

Song Jun didn’t believe him at all and was also afraid that Feng Junyuan would believe him easily, so he immediately asked, “How did you know?”

Before Xiang Wenshi could speak, suddenly the little girl appeared at his feet and grabbed one of his feet. He frowned slightly.

Song Jun felt something was wrong, and he looked at Xiang Wenshi, “Who are you?”

Xiang Wenshi seemed to suddenly lose patience to continue acting. He raised one hand, and the little girl immediately displayed a distressed expression as if she were being choked.

Then Xiang Wenshi raised his hand, and the little girl’s body was thrown away.

Song Jun heard Xiang Wenshi say, “Someone like you also want to stop me?”

Feng Junyuan shouted loudly, “What are you doing? Let her go!”

Xiang Wenshi smiled and said, “She’s just a little kid who doesn’t know any better. If you bear it, I won’t hurt her.”

Song Jun slowly retreated to Feng Junyuan, “Who are you? What do you want to do?”

Xiang Wenshi spread his hands, “Don’t be afraid, xiao Jun. I just want to take you somewhere with me.”

“Where?” Before Song Jun spoke, another voice asked.

Xiang Wenshi’s expression suddenly changed, but Song Jun suddenly felt relieved when he heard the voice. He shouted loudly, “Senior Brother Xia!”

Xia Hongshen appeared behind Xiang Wenshi. He raised his hand, and the little girl’s body, which Xiang Wenshi had just thrown away, flew into the air. She was held up by Xia Hongshen and placed gently on the operating table.

Xiang Wenshi stared at Xia Hongshen, “How did you enter the barrier I set up?”

Upon hearing this, Xia Hongshen gave a cold chuckle, “Someone like you want to stop me?”

Chapter 24 – Eta (3)

Eta Star, covered by 70% of primitive forests, was not suitable for travel at night. Moschery put away the small aircraft and handed his flare to Qin Yun, who spread the map on his knees.

“Take this direction… we can arrive before 5 o’clock tomorrow.” Qin Yun put on his hood, “But we have to speed up.” He waited for a long time but did not hear Moschery’s answer. He looked up in confusion and was suddenly gagged.

Moschery tilted his neck slightly, with the tip of his nose touching Qin Yun’s cheek. He stretched out his tongue, brushed the corner of Qin Yun’s lips, and ordered in a low voice, “Open your mouth.”

Qin Yun: “…It’s not like we just consumed mental energy.”

“…” Moschery no longer had the energy to be angry with this idiot. He pressed the back of Qin Yun’s head hard and roughly pushed his teeth open.

When their lips parted, both of them were panting a little. Moschery patted his face gently, “Let’s go.”

“…Oh.” Qin Yun agreed quietly. When he stood up, he realised that Moschery had shouldered everything, leaving him with empty hands and a light feeling.

Moschery: “Watch your steps and try to keep up with my speed.” He tied a rope around Qin Yun’s and his own waist, “Don’t force yourself where you can’t get through.”

“Okay.” Qin Yun became a little nervous. He moved his hands and feet and turned around to see Moschery extending his fist towards him.

Qin Yun hesitated for a moment, then carefully clenched his fist and touched it with him.

       Moschery smiled, “Let’s go, comrade.”

What Qin Yun said about speeding up was obviously very different from what Moschery thought… At first, he could keep up with the Emperor, but halfway through, he was basically being pulled by the rope between the two. In the end, Moschery couldn’t stand to look at it anymore and directly pick him up.

“I’m really sorry…” Qin Yun said awkwardly, “I really did endurance training before coming here…”

Moschery said contemptuously, “You trained into the dog’s belly1training in vain?”

       Qin Yun: “…”

Moschery held him and easily jumped up the tall tree. The two of them hid behind the lush branches and leaves. After waiting for a while, they finally saw several dark shadows slowly crawling underneath.

“…What is that?” Qin Yun asked softly in shock.

Moschery didn’t answer immediately. He squinted and looked at the slowly moving black figures.

It was human-like in stature, nearly 2 meters tall. It could not stand due to its twisted hind limbs and could only crawl. One of them suddenly raised its head, and Qin Yun could clearly see a human face covered in filth.

“Hybrid defect.” Moschery said coldly. He saw the deformed wings on the black shadow’s back.

Qin Yun remained silent. He grabbed Moschery’s sleeve with so much force that even his fingernails turned pale.

Moschery sighed, stretched out his hand, and covered Qin Yun’s eyes with his palms.

“Don’t look.” The Emperor’s tone was calm and cold, “You can’t save everyone.”

Moschery wasn’t about to waste his energy before entering the fortress on Eta Star. He waited until the hybrid was completely gone before he came down from the tree with Qin Yun in his arms.

“We are about to enter the Avianman’s guard circle.” Moschery drew out his long sword and ordered Zhongyan to fly to a high place, “We will try not to alert the large army and only kill the lone ones… Are you listening?”

Qin Yun was looking at the map intently. When Moschery asked him, he realised, “Ah, yes!”

Moschery frowned, “What are you thinking about.”

Qin Yun scratched his hair in annoyance and pointed to a place in the fortress on the map, “This is marked as a laboratory, which should be the place where… hybrids are cultivated.”

Moschery looked at him calmly. Qin Yun mustered up the courage and said slowly, “I want to go there. Maybe I can do something.”

“You’ll have to go alone.” Moschery suddenly said, his finger crossing the centre of the map, “I have to get the genes of the god-level guide.”

“I know.” Qin Yun nodded, “We will operate separately, and I will protect myself.” He pretended to be relaxed and patted his backpack, “I brought a stimulant…it is still useful at critical moments.”

Moschery rarely objected. He stared firmly at Qin Yun’s face and suddenly stretched out his hand to hook his guide’s neck.

The two of them pressed their foreheads hard against each other.

“Don’t fight when you are in danger.” Moschery took off his eyepatch, revealing his golden-red dragon eyes, “Wait for me to come and get you.”

       Qin Yun smiled, “Okay.”

The surroundings of the laboratory were mainly controlled by the sentinel. After all, Eta Star was affiliated with Olympus, and the status of the avian folk was, at best, a tool to be exploited.

Qin Yun was hiding in the dark. His guiding tendrils split into webs and tried to cover every corner of the experimental building. There were more sentinels than he thought, and it was not easy to get in.

At 5 and 6 o’clock, the Eta Star was filled with thick morning mist. Qin Yun was calculating the number of sentinels who needed to be hypnotised. When he glanced at it, he saw a sentinel coming from a distance carrying a tray…

“Name, age, height, weight?” Qin Yun asked while changing clothes. He glanced at the things in the tray and found that they were all liquid food.

The sentinel stood naked, opening and closing his mouth and answered mechanically, “Number 13. 17 years old. 176 centimetres tall. 65 kilograms.”

Qin Yun clicked his tongue, “It’s over…I’m 4 centimetres taller than you.” He looked down at the missing trouser leg and had no choice but to put his military boots back on, “I hope they won’t notice… “

The hypnotised sentinel didn’t respond at all. Qin Yun was afraid that he would be frozen, so he covered him with his coat, pinned his name tag on, and picked up the tray.

“How many times are you on duty today?” Qin Yun confirmed again, “Is it the same every day?”

Sentinel: “The first time, it’s different.”

Qin Yun thought for a while and figured it out. He checked his attire one last time before walking towards the laboratory building with the dinner tray in hand.

Unlike the laboratory building, the fortress’s gene bank was a bit ridiculously large. When Moschery sneaked in, he discovered that the huge semicircular fortress on the land surface only accounted for less than one-third of the total area.

In order to facilitate storage, the temperature of the gene bank was extremely low. When Zhongyan flew in, he wanted to considerately spray a fireball on his master, but was stopped by the Emperor’s murderous eyes…

The giant dragon shrank its wings in grievance and could only play with burning its own tail…

In the gene bank, most were ordinary human scientists, moving tightly wrapped in the middle of rows of tall shelves. Moschery had to wait for someone to pass by, then quickly moved around to the front of the shelf and swiftly scanned the labels on the gene canisters.

He scanned nearly ten rows but still found nothing.

Moschery’s expression became more and more gloomy. Because of his unstable mood, Zhongyan became irritable. He could feel his dragon’s eyes changing, and the irritated nerves ached…

As the youngest and most promising genetics professor on Eta Star, Chris has always been obsessed with academic research. Still, yesterday, he accidentally peeked into the so-called ‘species evolution’ in the laboratory building, and his whole outlook was affected. The shock caused him to stay up all night and come to the gene bank before dawn.

And when he was being held in a corner by his throat, poor Chris thought that his sneaking had been exposed and he was going to be silenced…

“Where is the god-level gene?” Moschery’s golden pupils were narrowed. He tore off the opponent’s anti-freeze shield. Chris instantly felt as if he had frostbite on his face…

“What, what god-level genes?” He stammered, shaking, and his words were incoherent: “I, I know you caught me sneaking yesterday… But, I still want to say that that’s wrong… too… too cruel……”

       Moschery: “…”

The expression on Chris’ face was unyielding, “K-kill… Just kill me! I, I won’t, work for you anymore!”

Moschery looked at the work card that Chris threw on the ground coldly and did not pick it up immediately. He relaxed the shackles in his hands a little.

“You can quit if you want.” Moschery took advantage of the situation and said, “First, tell me where the god-level genes are.”

Chris was really stupid and naive and was fooled, “They say there are no god-level genes anymore… Are you a senior executive? Don’t you know that a while ago, Olympus revoked the god-level gene transfer mission and sent over a batch of clones instead?” He pointed to the work card on the ground, “If you don’t believe it, you can use my card to swipe all the gene categories here. My card has the highest authority.”

In order to prove that he was not lying, Chris actively swiped his work card Nth times to show Moschery. After it was completely confirmed that there was no god-level gene, His Majesty’s face was as ugly as it could be.

“I’m not going to do it anyway…it’s too cruel, too inhumane, and simply has no human rights.” Chris muttered, “I’ll give you the card… What’s wrong with you?!”

Moschery looked pale and clutched his chest. Chris was so frightened that he quickly went to help him, “If you can’t find it, you can’t find it. Is there any need to have a heart attack? Have you brought any medicine?!”

“No…” Moschery moved his lips with difficulty, “Qin Yun…”

“Qinyun?” Chris asked with a question mark on his face, “What kind of medicine is this? Why haven’t I heard of it?”

Chapter 23 – Power Outage

On Friday, Song Jun had to go to the hospital to get the second batch of blood samples.

He returned relatively early this time, but upon arrival, the girl from the clinical laboratory he had contacted had something to attend to and said she would come later. Other members of the clinical laboratory team advised him to come in about half an hour, by which time the girl should have arrived.

Song Jun thanked them and exited the clinical laboratory department, thinking the time was too short to go back to the lab. Instead, he decided to find a place to sit in the garden outside on the first floor for a while.

As soon as he walked to the small garden, Song Jun met Feng Junyuan, who was going to deliver blood samples for blood crossmatching.

Feng Junyuan said to him, “Why don’t you go to my office and sit for a while.”

Feng Junyuan was a somewhat awkward person. After getting along with him, Song Jun had almost figured out his character. Also not very talkative, Feng Junyuan was much more difficult to get along with than Xia Hongshen, but once he got to know him, he found that he was not as cold as he seemed on the surface.

Song Jun still didn’t know why Feng Junyuan wanted to disrupt the middle of the 7th month Hundred Ghost Parade. But he knew that Feng Junyuan could see ghosts just like him. This feeling was not very pleasant. Maybe he had difficulty controlling his emotions at that time.

He took Song Jun to his office, and Feng Junyuan poured him a glass of boiled water from a paper cup.

Seeing Feng Junyuan sitting in front of the computer issuing medical orders, Song Jun leaned over to take a look and asked, “Are there any surgeries scheduled for today?”

Feng Junyuan shook his head, “Not for my bed.”

He was talking about the bed he was in charge of. The bed number that Song Jun saw he was giving medical orders to was No. 15. If he remembered correctly, Feng Junyuan said that Bed No. 15 was the bed number of the little girl who died.

When he thought of the little girl who died on the operating table at a young age, Song Jun couldn’t help but feel a little uncomfortable. He said, “Have you ever thought about finding a Dharma Master to help her transcend?”

Feng Junyuan stopped typing and said nothing, but Song Jun saw his hesitant expression.

“Ah!” A scream suddenly came from outside the office.

Song Jun and Feng Junyuan looked at each other, stood up and walked out of the office at the same time.

There was a lot of noise outside, and a circle of people gathered around the nurse’s station. A patient covered his arm and said he had seen a ghost.

This patient was the patient of bed no. 15 under Feng Junyuan’s care. He was admitted to the hospital yesterday and has not yet undergone surgery. He said that he heard a child crying all night last night. He went to the toilet, but as soon as he opened the toilet door, he saw a child’s hand pulling the door tightly from the inside.

Everyone in the circle around the nurse’s station turned pale when they heard this, obviously frightened. Of course, there were also those who didn’t believe it and said he was talking nonsense.

The patient then rolled up his sleeves and said, “Look, he was caught by a ghost.”

Everyone looked over and saw a blue mark on his wrist, which was shaped like a child’s palm.

Song Jun and Feng Junyuan looked at each other.

An old lady next to me said, “Oh, that’s really creepy. Bed no.15 is that little kid who died under Dr. Feng’s table, right?”

Everyone around looked towards Feng Junyuan. The patient in Bed no.15 said, “Doctor Feng, can you change my bed? I’m afraid I’m haunted by a ghost.”

“Where did the ghost come from?” Suddenly, a man came out of the doctor’s duty room and said loudly, “Don’t talk nonsense here. There are no ghosts in this world.”

Feng Junyuan turned around and saw that the person walking over was the chief resident.

The chief resident said, “Don’t make the hospital look like a park. Everyone should go back to the ward and don’t surround the nurse’s station.”

       The patients then dispersed.

The attending physician asked Feng Junyuan, “Have you finished issuing the doctor’s orders?”

       Feng Junyuan nodded.

The chief said, “Just do what you have to do; don’t get involved.”

After saying that, he walked towards his office.

Song Jun looked at Feng Junyuan and wanted to persuade him not to pay attention, but when he thought that the little girl did exist, he couldn’t help feeling a little chilly and didn’t know what to say.

Feng Junyuan said, “I’ll go to Bed No. 15 to have a look.”

Just as he finished speaking, there was a sudden power outage in the corridor.

There were wards on both sides of the corridor extending from the nurse station, and there was only a small balcony at the end of the corridor, so the lighting was very poor. Once the power went out, the eyes that were accustomed to bright light could not adapt to the darkness for a while, and it would be as if it were pitch black.

Both the nurses and the patients cried out in surprise as if they had not expected that there would be a sudden power outage in the hospital.

Generally speaking, even if there were a power outage in a hospital, there would be a backup generator to ensure the operation of various medical instruments.

However, the power had gone out but did not come back on immediately.

Feng Junyuan and Song Jun were standing there. They had just adapted to the dark environment of the corridor when they heard a patient’s scream from a ward in front.

That voice was the voice of the Bed no. 15 patient who had just said he had seen a ghost.

Feng Junyuan immediately ran in that direction. Seeing this, Song Jun quickly followed.

The ward was a double ward with beds number 15 and 16. Because it was a shared ward, the doors of hospital wards were generally not locked, but at this time, the door of this ward was closed.

Feng Junyuan pushed the door, but it didn’t open.

It wasn’t that it wasn’t locked, but more like someone was pushing the door from the inside.

Feng Junyuan pushed hard again, and the door opened slightly. He suddenly let go of his hand, and the door was closed again.

Song Jun was standing next to Feng Junyuan. He could clearly see half of the child’s grey-blue face emerging from the gap, looking out with one round eye.

Feng Junyuan looked at Song Jun, and Song Jun asked him, “Did you see it too?”

“Yeah,” Feng Junyuan said, “it was her, the child who died on the operating table, named Yuanyuan.”

Song Jun felt a little numb in his back.

However, unexpectedly, Feng Junyuan suddenly hit the door with force.

The door to the ward was suddenly knocked open by him. Feng Junyuan walked in and saw no sign of the little girl. Not only was the little girl missing, but even the original patients in the fifteen or sixteen beds were gone.

There was a large window in the ward, which was much brighter than in the corridor outside.

Song Jun followed Feng Junyuan in and looked at the bathroom with the door open but saw no one.

“What’s going on?” Song Jun asked.

Feng Junyuan shook his head, “I don’t know.”

They were all a little dazed and stood in the ward for a while. Feng Junyuan even walked to the window and took a look outside.

Suddenly, Song Jun said to him, “Don’t you think it’s quiet outside?”

Feng Junyuan was stunned and turned to look at him.

It was really quiet outside, so quiet that it was a little abnormal. It was noisy when the power went out, but now there was no sound at all.

Song Jun and Feng Junyuan walked towards the corridor outside, one after another. When they came out, they saw that the entire corridor was empty, and there was no one.

The patient and his family were gone, as were the nurses and doctors. The entire thoracic surgery department was silent as if they were the only two people left.

Song Jun and Feng Junyuan both knew something was wrong. Of course, it wasn’t that everyone here suddenly ran away, but that the two of them were probably blocked off from reality by some force, like that time when they saw a hundred ghosts walking at night by the river.

“What should we do?” Song Jun asked.

Feng Junyuan was silent for a moment and said, “Get out of here first?”

“I…” Song Jun was about to speak. He always felt that something was wrong with the atmosphere, that maybe they couldn’t leave here easily. But before he could speak, he suddenly heard a girl’s laughter coming from the end of the corridor.

Both of them turned around and saw the little girl, Yuanyuan, hiding behind a door. She stuck her head out to take a look at them. When she saw them looking over, she quickly retracted her head.

Feng Junyuan said, “That’s the stairs over there.”

Song Jun was stunned and then said, “She doesn’t want us to leave.”

Feng Junyuan looked a little confused, “Why?”

Song Jun shook his head. How could he know why.

Knowing that the little girl was trying to stop them, Feng Junyuan had no intention of trying. He said, “Let’s go back to the office first.”

The two men returned to the doctor’s office.

Song Jun walked behind and reached out to lock the door.

The current situation reminded him of what happened in the lab at that time. He still remembered that the female ghost was pestering him, making it impossible for him to leave.

But this time, it didn’t feel so scary. Maybe it was because there was an extra person, Feng Junyuan, and Song Jun knew that Feng Junyuan was not an ordinary person and that those ordinary ghosts and demons should not be able to hurt him.

There were also windows in the doctor’s duty room, and the light outside was bright. Song Jun stood at the window and looked outside, but there was no one in the bustling hospital.

“Does she want to kill me?” Feng Junyuan suddenly asked.

Song Jun said softly, “I don’t think so. She’s just a child, and maybe her parents don’t understand what’s going on with her life. I believe she wouldn’t be unaware of it herself.”

‘Drrk drkk drrk’ The two of them heard a sound coming from outside at the same time, like the sound of a nurse pushing a cart walking down the corridor.

Song Jun stood still and didn’t move.

Feng Junyuan walked to the door, opened it slightly and looked outside. He saw a nurse’s work cart sliding slowly in the corridor, but no one was pushing it.

“Let’s go,” Feng Junyuan said suddenly, “I don’t want to wait here any longer. No matter what she wants to do, I’m not afraid of her.”

       Song Jun hesitated.

Feng Junyuan said, “Then you wait here alone. She should be here for me, and it has nothing to do with you.”

Even if it really had nothing to do with him, Song Jun couldn’t let Feng Junyuan face it alone. He took a deep breath and said to Feng Junyuan, “Let’s go, I’ll go with you.”

Feng Junyuan opened the door, stood by it waiting for Song Jun to come, and walked out with him.

The cart was still slowly coming in their direction. The two of them were walking forward, and the cart slid in front of them and suddenly stopped.

Feng Junyuan and Song Jun walked around the cart and continued walking forward.

Suddenly, Feng Junyuan stopped and looked at a staircase that appeared out of thin air on the side of the corridor.

Song Jun naturally saw it too and couldn’t help being stunned and asked, “Were there stairs here?”

Feng Junyuan said, “Yes, but it has been stopped and sealed early.”

       “Why?” Song Jun asked.

“Because I heard there seemed to be an accident,” Feng Junyuan said solemnly.

Chapter 23 – Eta (2)

When Shen Zhuofan finished handling the cat poop, he saw Lin Dongliang waiting outside the door. The Secretary of State took off his hat and saluted with a gentle smile, “Good morning.”

Shen Zhuofan sighed, “You’re becoming a regular here… How about I give you half a membership card? Regulars get a 1000-credit charge, and every visit after that is half price.”

Lin Dongliang was embarrassed by the sales promotion. Shen Zhuofan smiled evilly and sidled over to let him in.

After all, the two of them were very familiar with each other, and Shen Zhuofan could roughly guess Lin Dongliang’s reason for coming. He listened to the other party’s request but did not say anything and just made a pot of tea and put it on the table.

“Want some?” Shen Zhuofan poured out a cup and pushed it in front of Lin Dongliang, “The new tea just launched this month. It tastes pretty good.”

Lin Dongliang took a sip and nodded, “It’s indeed good.”

Shen Zhuofan smiled. He held his chin and was a little distracted, “Senior, you haven’t changed. You will clearly express whatever plan you have in mind. It’s as precise as an instrument.”

Lin Dongliang coughed awkwardly, “I always feel that by saying it out loud, there’s room for choice. The results and the risks to be borne—you can either do it or not…”

Shen Zhuofan didn’t speak. He looked through the haze outside the window, seeming to see a long time in the past.

“Senior, you and I are still different after all.” Shen Zhuofan said quietly, “I have changed a lot.”

Lin Dongliang looked at him gently.

Shen Zhuofan stretched out his hand and gently covered his chest, “I don’t have a heart as strong as yours.”

Early in the morning, Tristana got up early to deal with the troublesome lawn, and just as she had finished, the specially designated aircraft of the Secretary of State landed without any prior notice.

       Tristana: “…”

Lin Dongliang’s hair was still stained with morning dew. He greeted her with a somewhat apologetic expression, “Hello…”

Tristana’s expression was grotesque, “If it weren’t something like the news that His Majesty is about to die, I would definitely let the Crested Ibis peck the Yuanbao’s tail bald!”

       Lin Dongliang: “…”

As the only female guide general in the high ranks, Tristana, despite having a masculine character, had a somewhat flirtatious lifestyle. No one could imagine that she, who could be full of foul language and engage in verbal sparring, could start a ship and board a fort without saying more than three words. In her eyes, anyone with a pulse was fair game for her to criticise…

“Don’t just believe in the All Universe 818.” Tristana carefully took the baked apple pie out of the oven, “Considering you’re a politician,”

Lin Dongliang pretended to close the gossip page as if nothing had happened. He looked at the horrible apple pie on the baking sheet…

“I made stars, moons, birds, and cats.” Tristana introduced them one by one. She put her hands on her hips in a bossy manner, “You can take three minutes to praise me before you can eat it.”

Half of the lawn in the garden was in a mess, with the Secretary of State’s aircraft parked on it, while the other half had been planted with tulips, which bloomed in golden or red-pink colours that were subtle and graceful.

Lin Dongliang ate the sticky apple pie without complaining. He finished one piece after another, and even Tristana couldn’t stand to see it.

“Okay… I know what my capability is, so you don’t have to give me a face like this.” Tristana snapped.

Lin Dongliang said with a smile, “It’s actually delicious, really.”

       Tristana made a face, “Hypocrite…”

Lin Dongliang didn’t deny it, “I seem to have always been like this.” He finished the last bite of apple pie, “I’m used to it.”

“But you are like this…” Tristana described awkwardly, “It’s not lovable.”

Lin Dongliang raised his eyebrows, “None of the politicians is likeable, and I didn’t become a sinner just to please people.”

Tristana: “That’s right, you always have a well-thought-out plan, including the final result. It seems like you are giving the choice out, but in fact, you have already calculated even the other person’s character… Just like Shen six years ago, impulsive, proud, and daring to dedicate.”

The female general sighed, “You are very gentle.” She stretched out her hand and touched Lin Dongliang’s chest, “But this… It’s very hard here.”

Lin Dongliang was silent. After a long time, he slowly said, “The birth of a complete and centralised new regime requires the sacrifice of countless people and feelings.”

Tristana couldn’t help but ask, “So…will you sacrifice Skarter?”

The light of the morning sun softly outlined Lin Dongliang’s profile, “No.” He looked at Tristana and showed a gentle yet sad smile, “I will sacrifice myself.”

“The Secretary of State’s plan?” Qin Yun looked surprised. After they had sent Alice and Maggie back to the Star Thief’s headquarters—the Stallion Balls, they had planned to take a break and then head to Eta Star.

Moschery spent the whole day in the armoury at the bottom, and Qin Yun naturally waited on him all the time. The two somehow managed to get into a conversation about Shen and Duke Garcia’s gossip.

“Politicians are all a bunch of heartless bastards.” Moschery said indifferently. “Don’t think too highly of Lin Dongliang; it’s all just a facade.”

Qin Yun boldly joked, “You mean… you are also heartless?”

Moschery gave him a look that seemed to say, ‘Why are you acting like a little brat?’ and asked, “Am I not gentle enough with you?”

Qin Yun touched his nose awkwardly and said nothing.

Moschery threw the picked bow into the arms of his guide, “The birth of a new regime will inevitably involve sacrifices, and even I am not immune.” He looked at Qin Yun calmly, “This is why Skarter and Lin Dongliang haven’t completed the final mark after being together for so long…because they love each other so much that they are even willing to restrain the natures of sentinel and guide, just so that the other can still live safely when one has to leave.”

Qin Yun’s face looked slightly ugly, “The consequences… are really too heavy.”

Moschery curled his lips disdainfully, “If you ask me, Skarter spoils Lin Dongliang too much. You shouldn’t pamper your spouse too much; sometimes you need to be fvck them.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

Because Maggie provided a lot of information about Eta Star, she and Alice were essentially completely detached from Olympus. Chen Xiao seemed even more enthusiastic about this than the parties involved.

“Where are you going in the future?” He crossed his arms and winked at Moschery, “Do you have any plans?”

Maggie’s waist injury has basically healed. She picked a silver whip from the armoury. It looked very thin but was actually heavy. Qin Yun couldn’t shake it with both hands.

“We haven’t thought about it yet.” Alice said honestly, she was a little confused, “Is this considered treason?”

Moschery sneered, “Olympus calls itself an alliance, but the empire doesn’t recognise it, so how can it be called treason?”

Maggie didn’t speak. She clearly saw that the other person was the one with the highest status among them all, but her attitude was still neither humble nor arrogant. “Then where do you think we should go?”

Moschery glanced at her with appreciation in his eyes, “Go to the Imperial Capital. It’s more suitable for you.”

“But I heard.” Maggie smiled playfully, “The Emperor’s regime is not stable, and there are many obstacles to implementing the new democratic deal. What’s more, it is still unknown whether Olympus will return in the end.”

Qin Yun frowned, “You don’t believe in the Empire?”

“I just trust what I see more.” Maggie pointed to her eyes.

She bowed respectfully to Moschery, “Your Majesty, we will be waiting for your triumph in the Empire.”

The author has something to say:
Lin Dongliang and Skarter embodied the saying: To like is to be wild, but to love is to be restrained. XD

Chapter 22 – Meow Meow

On Wednesday night, Bu Hui, who rarely had free time, made plans to go out for dinner with Song Jun.

Bu Hui was interning at the hospital recently and had some disputes with the department director, and the other party was kind of trying to obstruct his internship. Because of this matter, Cheng Ruijing had another quarrel with him and asked him to go find the other party and give him a gift to apologise. Even with Bu Hui’s optimistic and cheerful personality, he felt depressed. When he returned to the dormitory in the afternoon, he met Song Jun, so he took him out to have dinner with him.

Song Jun also had something on his mind. Although he felt that his problems were nothing compared to Bu Hui’s, under the influence of Bu Hui, he felt even worse.

Bu Hui ordered several bottles of beer and complained to Song Jun about recent troubles while drinking.

Song Jun, of course, didn’t bring up his own matters. He simply listened to Bu Hui while unconsciously consuming a considerable amount of alcohol.

Later, when he came out after paying the bill, Bu Hui was walking in front. Suddenly, he ran a few steps faster and threw himself next to the trash can to vomit.

“Huh?” Song Jun felt a little dizzy and wanted to follow him, but he stumbled on the edge of the steps and almost fell to the ground.

Fortunately, someone caught him from behind.

Song Jun was hugged from behind, and he didn’t react for a moment. He looked back blankly, only to see that the person holding him was Xiang Wenshi.

“Teacher Xiang?” Song Jun first wondered why he saw Xiang Wenshi here, but he didn’t realise that this posture seemed a bit ambiguous.

Xiang Wenshi smiled at him and said, “Be careful.”

       Song Jun said, “Thank you.”

Xiang Wenshi let go of him but still held one of his arms and said, “Are you drunk?”

Song Jun felt a bit embarrassed; he had indeed drunk a lot. While not completely intoxicated, his mind was a bit muddled. Feeling uncomfortable with Xiang Wenshi holding his hand, he tried to pull away. But he didn’t expect that the other person’s grip was very tight; he flinched but couldn’t break free.

Xiang Wenshi asked him, “Where are you going? I’ll take you off.”

Song Jun suddenly remembered Bu Hui, and he turned around to look for him, “Where is Senior Brother Bu?”

Unexpectedly, Xiang Wenshi grabbed him and refused to let him leave.

Song Jun was confused and looked at Xiang Wenshi, “Teacher Xiang?”

“Teacher Xiang,” at the same time, another cold voice suddenly sounded.

Song Jun and Xiang Wenshi turned around at the same time and saw Feng Junyuan walking in their direction.

Xiang Wenshi finally let go of Song Jun’s hand and said to Feng Junyuan, “Xiao Feng, what a coincidence.”

“Yeah,” Feng Junyuan said softly. He was still wearing slippers, his hair was slightly damp, and he was holding a plastic bag in his hand as if he had just come out to buy something after taking a shower.

Song Jun had a headache and hit his forehead with his hand.

Feng Junyuan walked up to Song Jun and said to him, “Are you going to come back to the dormitory with me?”

Song Jun was a little afraid of getting entangled with Xiang Wenshi again, so he nodded and turned around to find Bu Hui.

Seeing this, Xiang Wenshi said, “Then you all go back together. I’ll leave first, so be careful.”

       Feng Junyuan didn’t answer him.

Xiang Wenshi smiled and waved, turned and left.

At this time, Song Jun saw that Bu Hui had finished vomiting and was holding a tree with one hand while talking on the phone. He got closer and heard that Bu Hui was calling Cheng Ruijing, so he didn’t disturb him.

When he returned here, he saw Feng Junyuan still standing there waiting for him.

Song Jun shook his head and said, “That Teacher Xiang is a bit weird.”

Feng Junyuan just shook his head, and it was unclear what he was thinking.

The two stood for a while. After Bu Hui finished his phone call, he came over and told Song Jun to leave him first.

Song Jun was a little worried about him and asked, “Senior Brother, are you okay alone?”

Bu Hui patted him on the shoulder, “Xiao Jing will be here soon. You go ahead, I’m fine.”

After Song Jun heard this, he felt relieved and said to Feng Junyuan, “Let’s go.”

It was getting dark, but there were still people playing soccer on the field. They probably intended to continue under the lights when it got even darker.

Song Jun and Feng Junyuan sat by the football field for a while.

The injury on Feng Junyuan’s face had not completely healed, but the gauze had been removed. Song Jun held his face with his hands and secretly turned his head to look at Feng Junyuan, thinking that it would be a pity if there were scars on such a beautiful face.

“I saw that little girl,” Feng Junyuan said suddenly.

Song Jun was stunned and then realised that the little girl Feng Junyuan was talking about was probably the one he saw in the shower room that day.

Feng Junyuan’s tone was very calm. He said, “There is an operation this afternoon, and it was a bit complicated. By the time the surgery was done, it was already quite late. The operations in other operating rooms have been completed, and the lights have been turned off.”

His voice was so soft that Song Jun felt a little scared.

“I went to take a shower first when I came out. After finishing, I realised I had left my glasses in the operating room. So, I went back to retrieve them. By then, everyone had already left, and all the operating rooms were empty, pitch black inside, with only the cold operating tables. When I returned to our operating room from the afternoon, I found that the door was closed. I pushed it open and saw someone lying on the operating table.”

Song Jun sobered up from the alcohol almost instantly.

Feng Junyuan stretched out his hand and grabbed his hair, “That someone looked like a child. Because the light was very dark, I couldn’t see clearly. The patient from the surgery we performed in the afternoon was an adult man, definitely not a child and he had been sent away long ago. It suddenly struck me that the operating room was the same one where we operated on the little girl from Bed Fifteen, who had passed away. Then, I saw the person on the operating table sit up, turn around, legs hanging over the edge of the table, trying to climb down…”

       Song Jun asked, “What then?”

Feng Junyuan looked at him, “Then I got scared, closed the door and ran away. I didn’t even take my glasses.”

Although it was still evening and the surroundings were very lively, Song Jun felt the cold atmosphere from Feng Junyuan’s words. He couldn’t help but wince and asked, “Is it her?”

Feng Junyuan said, “It should be her.”

Song Jun was silent for a moment, “Why did she come to you?”

Feng Junyuan shook his head and said after a while, “Maybe it’s because I killed her.”

“Don’t say that,” Song Jun said, “It’s not your fault.”

Feng Junyuan raised his head, looked at the football player in the distance, and suddenly asked Song Jun, “Do you want to eat a skewer?”

“Huh?” Song Jun was stunned when asked.

Feng Junyuan picked up his plastic bag, and Song Jun realised that he had bought a bag of grilled skewers.

“You haven’t had dinner?” Song Jun asked him.

Feng Junyuan nodded, “I came directly from the operating room.”

Song Jun said, “I’m not eating. I ate a lot just now; take your time.”

Feng Junyuan silently lowered his head and continued eating.

Song Jun sat for a while and suddenly remembered what Xia Hongshen said about being careful about Xiang Wenshi. He said to Feng Junyuan, “You have to be careful of that Teacher Xiang.”

Feng Junyuan glanced at him, “Huh?”

Song Jun didn’t know what happened, so he could only say, “I don’t know, Senior Brother Xia said it.”

At this moment, someone on the field took a powerful shot, but the ball went astray, flying in their direction.

Because it was too dark, Song Jun didn’t notice it at first. He only saw Feng Junyuan next to him raise his hand as if to block the soccer ball. As a result, the whole ball broke in half from the middle and fell to the ground.

Song Jun was a little dazed, and Feng Junyuan was also stunned. He looked down at his hands, wondering what he had done.

The soccer ball players came over to pick up the ball, but they never thought that Feng Junyuan had cut the ball. They stood there in confusion for a long time, not knowing what happened.

“Not bad,” a voice suddenly said behind them.

“Senior Brother Xia!” Song Jun stood up suddenly.

Feng Junyuan also stood up and turned around to look at Xia Hongshen, who suddenly appeared behind them.

Xia Hongshen said to Feng Junyuan, “Remember the sensation in your body; those things won’t dare to come near you casually in the future.”

Feng Junyuan looked at Xia Hongshen for a while, his eyes a little fierce, and then turned and left without saying a word.

Song Jun looked at Feng Junyuan’s leaving figure and said to Xia Hongshen, “He seems to reject you.”

Xia Hongshen said ‘hmm’ and looked indifferent.

Song Jun wanted to ask something, but he was afraid that Xia Hongshen would dislike him for being nosy, so he didn’t ask.

“There’s no more cat food in your room,” Xia Hongshen said suddenly.

Song Jun was confused and didn’t understand why he mentioned this. He hesitated and said, “Because I only bought a small bag, and the kitten has a big appetite. But how did you know?”

Xia Hongshen said, “I saw it last time I went to your place.”

Song Jun couldn’t react for a moment. He had forgotten the last time Xia Hongshen went to his room.

Xia Hongshen asked him, “Are you going to buy it?”

“Ah?” Song Jun was stunned for a moment, then said, “Oh, let’s go then.”

The two of them walked towards the outside of the football field. Xia Hongshen came close to his neck and smelled it, “Have you been drinking?”

Song Jun always felt that this action was a bit ambiguous and said sheepishly, “I drank a little with Senior Brother Bu.”

Xia Hongshen asked him, “Why didn’t you call me?”

Song Jun was unsure how to respond to the question. He thought to himself that it was Senior Brother Bu’s treat, and he didn’t ask him to come over, so how could he bring it up? After hesitating for a moment, he didn’t answer Xia Hongshen’s question.

Fortunately, Xia Hongshen stopped asking any more questions, and the two of them walked towards the supermarket outside the school.

Song Jun was choosing cat food in front of the pet supplies aisle. He planned to continue buying the brand he bought last time because the little black cat liked to eat it.

However, since the little black cat didn’t visit often, he hesitated and decided to buy a small bag so it wouldn’t spoil if left unused for too long.

Xia Hongshen stood behind him and reached for a large bag on the shelf above.

“It’s too big!” Song Jun said.

Xia Hongshen ignored him, put the cat food into the trolley, and then reached for a large bag of tuna whiskas.

Song Jun was going crazy, “Have you seen the cat? Why are you taking care of it so much?”

Xia Hongshen stopped and turned to look at him, “You don’t like it?”

Song Jun said “Uh… I like it, but the treatment is too good. I haven’t eaten that well myself.”

Xia Hongshen said, “You can eat it with it.”

Song Jun said helplessly, “Forget it, I haven’t reached that level of craving yet. Buy it, go buy it, just go buy it…”

In the end, he carried back big and small bags full of food for the kitten. He thought to himself that Senior Brother Xia was so strange. He had never even seen the cat, and yet he was so kind to it. In comparison, he didn’t treat him that well; Xia Hongshen didn’t even think of getting him some snacks.

He didn’t realise that Xia Hongshen was actually genuinely thinking that they could eat together, but he obviously wouldn’t appreciate that.

Chapter 22 – Eta (1)

The process of finding the spacecraft was smoother than Qin Yun imagined. Surprisingly, Alice did not go berserk again after waking up.

A pair of sentinel and guide who had undergone the final marking, even if one of them was injured, their combat capabilities were still formidable. They coordinated perfectly, and almost all of their potential was fully utilised. If it weren’t for Qin Yun’s presence earlier, there was a possibility that Maggie could have killed Chen Xiao.

“I don’t have a weapon in hand.” Maggie reloaded the bullets in the gun in her hand. Her spiritual link was a black mamba with its cold snake tongue flickerings and coiled around its owner’s waist.

“You think you are a Medusa or something…” Of course Chen Xiao refused to show weakness. He indignantly said, “Two against one is inherently unfair!”

Maggie raised her eyebrows frivolously and stopped talking. She waited patiently for Alice to finish checking the spacecraft’s main control room.

“The fuel is enough for us to fly to the coordinates you gave us.” Alice took off the hat on her head, her long golden waves dr4p3d over her shoulders like sunshine. She looked at Moschery. “We need two pilots.”

Moschery sat in the driver’s seat without saying a word. Maggie’s wound had been simply bandaged. She hesitated and finally walked towards the passenger seat.

Alice released her spiritual link, a dwarf winter white russian hamster, all snow-white, with only the tips of its ears and the tip of its nose having fine grey fluff.

The hamster quickly ran up to Black Mamba’s head, let the snake king support it, and climbed onto Maggie’s shoulders. The latter stretched out her hand and scratched the little guy’s chin.

Alice’s eyes were very gentle. She looked at Maggie intently, her guiding tendrils soothing her sentinel consciousness cloud.

The gunfire at the Shura Gate Port was intense and fierce. Moschery’s face was as dark as water under the light mirror. Maggie was not much better. Even Alice’s forehead was covered with fine beads of sweat.

Qin Yun couldn’t sit still. He tried to extend his guiding tendrils and penetrate into Moschery’s consciousness cloud. After a while, the Emperor’s expression finally seemed to relax a little.

“There are pursuers behind us.” Chen Xiao frowned and looked at the scanner, “Four heavy weapons spacecraft.”

Maggie gritted her teeth, “We only have three naval guns.”

“That’s enough.” Moschery quickly opened the main control board, pulled up the handle, and smiled mockingly, “Finish them off.”

The trajectory of the naval gun was eerily accurate in Moschery’s hands. The enemy no longer dared to advance after getting two ships hit in a row, but Moschery did not choose to retreat.

The last naval gun hit the main control room of one of the spacecraft. The remaining spacecraft was obviously panicked and fired a tracking bomb without hesitation.

Maggie finally understood Moschery’s intention at this moment.

His Majesty the Emperor piloted their spacecraft towards the enemy spacecraft carrier at an incredible speed. The moment he was about to collide with the spacecraft, he suddenly swerved over the hull of the ship and staggered violently. The tracking bomb behind him did not react in time and directly blew up the opponent’s flank.

       “Yo—” Chen Xiao whistled excitedly.

Qin Yun was half speechless as he looked at the carrier that had blossomed behind his arse.

Maggie was lying on the passenger seat and almost lost her strength while Moschery took off his goggles with a relaxed expression. He sat still in his seat and curled his fingers at Qin Yun.

“?” Qin Yun walked over and bent down.

Moschery looked into his eyes and said nothing but lazily stretched out his finger and tapped his lips.

Qin Yun held the other person’s face helplessly and muttered, “Can’t we wait until no one is around to do this…”

“Shut up.” Moschery pressed the back of his head impatiently, “You are the only one who talks too much.”

Qin Yun thought that maybe for Moschery, every kiss was really just the most ordinary supply of pheromones… so he felt a little uncomfortable.

The Emperor frowned slightly after kissing for a while, then he separated and said, “You are not paying attention…what are you thinking about?”

Qin Yun opened his mouth, his expression changing several times, and finally, he just sighed and said, “It’s nothing.”

Moschery had a look of disbelief on his face but stopped asking.

Maggie finally regained some strength under Alice’s comfort. She leaned back on the chair and held her guide in her arms.

After Chen Xiao set the coordinates, the spacecraft entered automatic navigation. He stood behind Moschery and looked across at the sentinel with a solemn expression.

“Now, you can explain it.” Chen Xiao asked, “Why do you want to leave Olympus and not want to go to Eta Star?”

Maggie and Alice looked at each other. She seemed to have made a lot of determination and then slowly said, “Eta Star has been the first fortress of Olympus for the past 50 years, and sentinel guides are stationed every three months to guard the god-level genes…”

“We all know this.” Moschery said disdainfully, “Don’t fool me with such worthless info.”

“I don’t intend to hide anything.” Maggie smiled bitterly, “What I said is only on the surface.” She looked at Moschery with an angry cold look in her eyes, “Do you know why the birth rate of guides in Olympus has been so high in recent years? The avian people on Eta Star have high mental power, yet they only have males and can’t reproduce.”

Maggie took a deep breath; her emotions fluctuated greatly, and she had no choice but to rely on Alice for comfort, “Olympus actually planned to cross-breed these beasts with human guides and sentinels, and the experiment was successful… with the birth rate of…80% are high-level guides.”

“Where’s the other 20%?” Qin Yun couldn’t help but ask.

Alice glanced at him, her expression pitiful and disgusting, “Nothing… neither an avianman nor a human, no IQ, only know brutal attacks.”

“Is Olympus crazy?” Chen Xiao murmured, “This happens every three months…doesn’t anyone notice?!”

Maggie: “Not many guides were sent, and brainwashing is so severe internally… Sentinels even cooperate with higher-ups to get stronger and more guides.” She closed her eyes and said calmly, “In Olympus, it has always been survival of the fittest, natural selection. The law is the elimination of the weak by the strong. Anything can be done in pursuit of the god-level. It’s just as normal as it gets.”

The spacecraft was flying smoothly in space, and when Qin Yun suddenly woke up, he realised that Moschery was not around.

The fluorescent panel in the main control room illuminated the Emperor’s expressionless face. When he turned his head, Qin Yun realised that he had been staring at the other person for a while.

“Why are you awake?” Moschery rubbed his eyebrows. He looked at the guide, who was only wearing a single shirt, with disapproval, “Come here, aren’t you cold?”

Qin Yun sneezed belatedly after hearing this. He rubbed his nose and let the sentinel take off his coat and put it on him.

“What are you looking at?” Qin Yun asked as he leaned closer and stretched his neck.

Moschery handed him the antique tablet in his hand, “This is from Lin Dongliang.”

Qin Yun: “Request for additional personnel?”

“Yeah.” Moschery said with a cold face, “I sent the situation in Olympus over. They are worried that you and I may not be able to handle it.”

“…” Qin Yun was embarrassed to say that he was also worried…

Moschery could clearly see what the other party was thinking. He suddenly reached out and pinched Qin Yun’s neck, “Don’t think foolishly. I can protect you.”

Lin Dongliang held his forehead in frustration when he received the third rejection notification of the additional personnel request. Skarter picked it up casually and glanced at it a few times.

“His Majesty always has his own reasons for not accepting the increase in personnel.” Skarter comforted, “After all, there is no doubt about his strength.”

Lin Dongliang sighed, “I was…just in case… Judging from this situation, the situation on Eta Star is completely different from what we originally imagined. It is always easy for things to go wrong if the plan cannot keep up with the changes.”

Skarter said nothing. In his opinion, Moschery had always been conceited, but Qin Yun’s performance along the way also proved that he was not a simple low-level guide.

“Have you found Qin Yun’s adoptive mother?” Skarter suddenly asked.

Lin Dongliang shook his head, “If the high-level SSS guide deliberately wants to stay hidden, it is not easy to find… and the cabinet may have found something recently, bypassing us and putting pressure on Tristana the removal of low-level guides from the military.”

Skarter sneered, “Those meddling women just won’t give up, huh?”

“Berlin has wanted to do this for a long time.” Lin Dongliang looked worried, “She has always advocated replacing lower echelons of the military department with high-level guides from the academy…”

“Ha, those high-end porcelain dolls of hers?” Skarter said angrily, “Can they go to the battlefield? Letting my soldiers fight on the front line while they hide behind?”

Skarter gritted his teeth and said, “Don’t even think about it.”

Lin Dongliang did not retort. He stretched out his guiding tendrils to soothe Skarter’s consciousness cloud. The red panda raised its head and crawled to sleep next to the king crocodile. Its big tail covered the crocodile’s eyes.

“I’m thinking of a way.” Lin Dongliang said gently. He paused and said firmly, “I think we need the support of Duke Garcia now.”

Skarter’s mood had calmed down, but his expression was not optimistic, “He managed to remain neutral after Shen’s accident six years ago. It is not so easy for him to switch sides now.”

“If…” Lin Dongliang thought, “If Shen comes back, maybe the situation will be different?”

Chapter 21 – Xiang Wenshi

Dr. Xiang’s full name was Xiang Wenshi. He was one of the most handsome bachelors in the C University Affiliated Hospital, known as the golden bachelor. Of course, these were all things Song Jun heard from others later.

However, Song Jun felt quite comfortable getting along with Xiang Wenshi. He was the youngest deputy chief physician of the Thoracic Surgery Department, but he didn’t put any airs at all when getting along with them. He has a friendly attitude, and his speech and behaviour were also very charming.

Song Jun actually wanted to be a doctor, but he felt that he didn’t have the mental capacity to bear that kind of pressure. So when he saw Xiang Wenshi looking elegant in a white coat, he unconsciously felt a bit envious, but of course, Song Jun felt that no one could wear a white coat better than Xia Hongshen.

Lunch was eaten in the hospital cafeteria. Xiang Wenshi ordered three one-pot stir-fries with his meal card. For Song Jun, it was indeed an improvement in his food.

Although the three of them were sitting in the corner of the cafeteria, they still attracted attention. Song Jun didn’t notice it at first, but later, he found that the nurses at several tables were looking at them, and he suddenly felt a little embarrassed.

Xiang Wenshi had been chatting with them.

Feng Junyuan still looked in a bad mood. He was originally a sensitive person and was not very good at dealing with interpersonal relationships. Even when Xiang Wenshi took the initiative to talk to him, he looked listless.

However, Song Jun felt otherwise; at least, he thought it wasn’t very polite. As a result, most of the time, it was him and Xiang Wenshi who were talking.

Xiang Wenshi talked about some hospital and academic matters, and Song Jun also listened with interest and felt very interested.

After eating, Song Jun went back to the inpatient building with them, took a blood sample, and planned to leave.

Before leaving, Feng Junyuan actually said ‘thank you’ to Song Jun.

Song Jun was stunned for a moment and reflexively asked, “What?”

Feng Junyuan immediately turned away, “It’s nothing.”

Song Jun raised his hand and scratched his head, “Be careful yourself.”

He thought of the little girl and her parents, who wouldn’t let go of Feng Junyuan.

Feng Junyuan touched the gauze on his face and said softly, “Hmm”.

Back in the lab, Song Jun collected the blood samples, looked at the experimental results, opened his mouth and yawned. After eating, he wanted to sleep. He stretched and decided to go back to the dormitory to take a nap before talking about it in the afternoon.

At the door of the dormitory room, Song Jun was taking out the key to open the door when he suddenly heard the sound of breathing in his ears.

Because the distance was so close, he was frightened to the point he dropped the key. He suddenly turned around and realised it was Xia Hongshen.

Song Jun pressed his chest, “Senior Brother Xia, are you going to scare me to death?” What he said was not an exaggeration at all. Having seen strange things in the hospital in the morning, his mental endurance was a bit fragile now.

Xia Hongshen didn’t react at all. He moved his head close to his neck, seeming to be inhaling and smelling his scent.

       “Huh?” Xia Hongshen said.

Song Jun felt a little embarrassed and a little strange, “What’s wrong?”

Xia Hongshen smelled it for a while, then suddenly raised his head and said, “What a strong and unpleasant smell.”

Song Jun suddenly opened his eyes in disbelief and looked at Xia Hongshen with his face flushed. He didn’t understand what Xia Hongshen meant.

After saying that, Xia Hongshen left his side and went back to her room.

Song Jun stood at the door for a long time, then picked up the key and went back to the room. The first thing he did was to take off his clothes and smell them. His clothes had just been changed today, and they only smelled like soap.

But he was so concerned about Xia Hongshen’s words that he couldn’t help but take a kettle and take a shower in the water room.

After taking a shower, Song Jun suddenly felt a little chilly.

Before he knew it, it was already the end of September, and it was already October, and the weather was getting colder and colder. A lot of things had happened this summer since he entered school. When he thought about it now, it felt like it was a lifetime ago.

At noon that day, Song Jun sent text messages to several close classmates at the university one by one to ask how everyone was doing.

After receiving the reply, Song Jun smiled, raised his arms and stretched his body, planning to spend these three years of graduate school life well.

After getting up from a nap, Song Jun knocked on Xia Hongshen’s door on his way out. He was startled by him at noon and forgot to tell him about Feng Junyuan. Now that he remembered it, Song Jun decided to tell Xia Hongshen.

After hearing this, Xia Hongshen said, “Hmm” calmly.

Song Jun felt a little strange, “Aren’t you going to help him? Is he not your—” He couldn’t find the right words to describe the relationship between them.

Xia Hongshen said, “It doesn’t matter, he will be fine.”

After listening to this, Song Jun suddenly thought that Feng Junyuan was so powerful that it was indeed not easy for those ghosts and demons to harm him. Since Xia Hongshen believed in him so much, there was no need to worry too much, so he nodded, “Okay, I understand.”

After a weekend like this, Song Jun didn’t hear any more news about Feng Junyuan from the hospital. He thought that the little girl’s parents probably just couldn’t figure it out for a while, and it might be fine after it passed.

On Monday, Song Jun had classes all morning.

He sat in the classroom all morning, and by the time he got out of class, it was almost time for lunch.

Coming out of the classroom with books, Song Jun met Xiang Wenshi, who was coming out of the next classroom.

“Teacher Xiang?” Song Jun greeted him proactively when he saw him.

Xiang Wenshi held a water glass and a computer bag and smiled at Song Jun, “What a coincidence? Are you in class?”

Song Jun nodded, “Teacher Xiang is here for class?”

Xiang Wenshi said, “That’s right, to teach the clinical undergraduates.”

Song Jun smiled and couldn’t think of anything to say, so he asked, “Teacher Xiang, are you going to eat?”

He just asked casually, but he didn’t expect Xiang Wenshi to answer him, “Okay, let’s go eat together.”

Initially, it was he who had invited first, so Song Jun found it difficult to refuse. In fact, he didn’t really want to go to dinner with Xiang Wenshi. It was not that he didn’t like Xiang Wenshi but that Song Jun had a timid personality. When dining with someone he didn’t know well, he couldn’t help but find a topic to talk about, and he would always feel uncomfortable.

On the way to the cafeteria, Xiang Wenshi said that he forgot to bring his meal card. Song Jun quickly said, “It doesn’t matter, I’ll treat you today.”

He was too embarrassed to treat others to a bad meal, so Song Jun asked Xiang Wenshi to find a seat while he queued up for a small stir-fry meal.

There were a bit too many people at the small stir-fry side. Song Jun stood at the end of the queue and took out his phone to check it out while queuing.

Suddenly, a hand was put on his shoulder, and Xia Hongshen asked in his ear, “Is the food good?”

Song Jun quickly turned around and asked, “Senior Brother Xia?!”

Xia Hongshen looked expressionless and asked him, “Who are you inviting to dinner?”

When he asked this, Song Jun knew that he probably saw him and Xiang Wenshi entering the cafeteria together and quickly said, “That is the clinical teacher. He didn’t bring a meal card, so I invited him to have a meal.”

       “Oh,” Xia Hongshen said.

Song Jun suddenly felt that he was probably unhappy.

Xia Hongshen put a hand on Song Jun’s shoulder and had no intention of leaving, but he didn’t say anything else.

Song Jun asked, “Would you like to eat together?”

       Xia Hongshen said, “Oh.”

Song Jun was getting a bit frustrated.

Song Jun simply asked Xia Hongshen to help him wait in line for the stir-fries and went to order two more dishes. When he returned to the table, Xiang Wenshi stood up when he saw Xia Hongshen.

“Huh?” Song Jun felt that Xiang Wenshi’s reaction was a little too much, “Teacher Xiang?”

       Xiang Wenshi smiled at him.

Song Jun quickly introduced Xia Hongshen to Xiang Wenshi, “This is a senior fellow student from my college. He is a doctoral student in pathology; his name is Xia Hongshen. And this is Director Xiang from the Thoracic Surgery Department.”

Xia Hongshen looked at Xiang Wenshi coldly.

Song Jun noticed Xia Hongshen’s gaze, felt that he was a little impolite, and carefully pulled his sleeve.

But he didn’t expect Xiang Wenshi to suddenly say, “Just received a call. There’s an emergency surgery that came up suddenly. I won’t be able to join you for this meal. Thank you, student xiao Song.”

Song Jun was stunned, “So urgent?”

Xiang Wenshi smiled and said, “I’ll treat you to dinner next time when I get the chance.” After saying that, he took his things, turned around and walked towards the cafeteria door.

Song Jun still didn’t react, so he put the food on the table and said to Xia Hongshen, “Only the two of us can eat it.”

Xia Hongshen sat down opposite him.

Song Jun saw that Xia Hongshen didn’t seem very happy, so he reached out and put a chopstick of fish into his bowl. Song Jun decided to get this fish on the spur of the moment after seeing Xia Hongshen.

He bit his chopsticks and suddenly asked, “Senior Brother, are you a cat?”

Xia Hongshen raised his eyes to look at him.

Song Jun suddenly remembered that the Night Patrol God had said before that Xia Hongshen was a monster. What kind of monster? Song Jun started thinking and said in surprise, “Senior Brother, are you a cat demon?”

Xia Hongshen’s expression didn’t change at all, and he didn’t answer him at all.

But Song Jun was used to it. He said, “There are often little wild cats that break into my dormitory. I’ll introduce you to them next time.”

Xia Hongshen hit him on the head with his chopsticks.

       Song Jun smiled.

“Be careful of that person,” Xia Hongshen said suddenly.

“Huh?” Song Jun was confused, and then he reacted, “You mean Teacher Xiang?”

Xia Hongshen picked up the bowl, picked up the fish, put it into his mouth and chewed it slowly.

Song Jun was pained by the fact that he only spoke halfway and asked, “Why should I be careful about him? Are you saying I can’t have contact with him?”

Xia Hongshen said, “You can decide it yourself.”

Song Jun was stunned. He picked up the bowl to take two mouthfuls of rice and then said to Xia Hongshen, “That Teacher Xiang is the director of Feng Junyuan’s internship department.”

Xia Hongshen picked up another piece of fish with chopsticks and ate it slowly and methodically. He just nodded slightly and didn’t say anything.

At night, Song Jun opened the window and felt the cool breeze outside blowing on his face, so he took a deep breath, climbed up to the window and sat with his legs hanging outside the window sill.

Song Jun felt that Xia Hongshen liked him, but sometimes, he felt that Xia Hongshen’s attitude was unclear, and he had no idea what the other person was thinking.

       “Ah—” Song Jun suddenly shouted.

A little black cat on the square roof opposite who was about to jump over seemed startled. He paused as if he was about to jump over and then suddenly rushed over and jumped in from the eaves above the first-floor window into Song Jun’s arms.

Song Jun was startled by it, and he breathed a sigh of relief after seeing clearly that it was the black cat.

The little black cat changed its direction, sat down on his lap, and looked out the window with him.

Song Jun touched its head and sighed secretly.
