Chapter 8 – Partner (2)

Cyprus was originally an island country, also known as the Holy Land of Love. Because one could enjoy the most beautiful rivers of stars in the universe on the seaside at night, thousands of ordinary couples flocked to it.

When Qin Yun and the others arrived, many people were already on the beach. Although ordinary people could not see the spiritual link, they couldn’t rule out that there would be a sentinel and guide couple.

“Is it okay if you put the spiritual link here?” Qin Yun asked worriedly, “Will it scare others?”

Xi Zhao had no time to lose his temper. He found a deserted rock and jumped on it. He turned around and stretched out his hand to Qin Yun, “Come here.”

Qin Yun stood next to Xi Zhao. Many couples were looking at them, and Qin Yun’s face felt a little hot under the scrutiny, “This place is too lively…it’s a bit bad with so many people…”

“Not good… No good…” Qin Yun slowly opened his mouth. He raised his neck mechanically and stared at Xi Zhao’s back in shock, “That… D-d-d-d-dragon offfh!” He abruptly covered his mouth with his hand, turned to look around, and noticed that a few couples had glanced in their direction, but their reactions seemed calm.

Qin Yun turned around carefully. The black dragon was still squatting on the spot. It followed Qin Yun’s movements and tilted its head. Its huge wings somewhat comically folded in front of its chest.

“I call him Zhongyan1great flames.” Xi Zhao’s tone was calm as if he was just saying that the weather was very good today, “No one can see him except you.”

The moon hung in the sky, the river of stars in Cyprus was vast and magnificent, and the lovers on the beach cuddled up to each other quietly, whispering words of love.

Zhongyan frolicked in the night sky, seemingly delighted by the stars. He always stretched out his claws to reach them or flew with his belly upward as if the whole dragon were nestled in the embrace of the starry river.

Qin Yun couldn’t help but laugh. He looked to his side and saw Xi Zhao lying on the rock with his eyes closed, both arms resting on the back of his head, breathing peacefully as he slept.

Qin Yun looked at him for a long time before turning his face again and looking at the vast starry sky above his head.

Zhongyan’s huge wings cut across the sky. It circled several times and landed in front of Qin Yun. He lowered his head, and around his chest hung a pendant adorned with shattered diamonds, shaped like a violent bear.

“…” Qin Yun: “So that phone case is yours…”

Zhongyan snorted and folded his wings shyly, trying to hide his huge dragon face.

Qin Yun cautiously reached out his hand, and Zhongyan blinked. He lowered his head obediently and allowed the other’s palm to caress his muzzle.

“You are such a beautiful and majestic big guy.” Qin Yun sighed. The touch under his palm was cold and smooth, and the black dragon scales glowed with a cool lustre in the moonlight.

Qin Yun simply stretched out his guiding tendrils and ‘stroked’ the dragon’s neck and back. Zhongyan turned over his belly comfortably, his wings swayed back and forth against the ground, and his huge tail slapped the seawater.

Qin Yun: “…” Born as such a cool and stunning dragon, is it really okay for you to be so good at being cute?!

Xi Zhao frowned and looked at Qin Yun, whose hands and feet were shaking from fatigue, and said disapprovingly, “Don’t give in to its every whim; you’ll spoil him.”

“It’s hard, he’s rare…” Qin Yun rubbed his sore arm, “It’s usually only you around him, which can be quite lonely for him.”

Xi Zhao cast a glance at him, his expression turning a bit sour.

Qin Yun chuckled and said half-jokingly, “Actually, coming to a place like this alone… must be lonely for you too, right?”

Xi Zhao didn’t say anything. He opened the aircraft door, turned around suddenly, and his face was almost close to Qin Yun’s. He pulled off the other person’s collar, looked at it, and whispered, “The mental marks seem to have faded a bit.”

Qin Yun: “…Have they?” He turned his neck to see behind him, but Xi Zhao suddenly clamped his chin.

“…” Qin Yun didn’t get many pheromones, but his lips were swollen from being kissed…

“Let’s come together next time.” Qin Yun fastened his seat belt and yawned, feeling a little drowsy, “The Cyprus Galaxy is really beautiful.”

Xi Zhao adjusted the autopilot and slowed down the aircraft to prevent it from bumping. He casually asked, “Why? Haven’t seen enough today?”

Qin Yun drooped his eyelids and complained drowsily before falling asleep, “Zhongyan is too big… blocking the front… I can’t see anything.”

       Xi Zhao: “…”

Shen Zhuofan was in the middle of opening a can for Sweetheart when Qin Yun’s face appeared on the communication device. Sweetheart didn’t even eat the can and rushed forward with a meowl, clawing at the image with her paws.

“Ah, it’s such a pity that I can’t touch you.” Qin Yun laughed loudly, and he greeted Shen Zhuofan, “I am going on a mission next month, and I have sent the stabiliser to you. Remember to collect it.”

Shen Zhuofan frowned, “Why are you going on a mission so soon? Is it dangerous?”

Qin Yun: “It’s a bit dangerous…but there will be a separate sentinel to protect me this time, so don’t worry.”

Shen Zhuofan was silent for a while and suddenly asked, “Qin Yun, do you know who the sentinel is that gave you a mental mark?”

“I know.” Qin Yun took a cat teaser and teased Sweetheart in the video, “What’s wrong?”

Shen Zhuofan took a breath, “His spiritual link is a dragon, right?”

Qin Yun’s movements paused, and he said awkwardly, “Hehe, you know…”

“The question is not whether I know it or not.” Shen Zhuofan rubbed his forehead with a headache, “The question is, who do you think has a god-level spiritual link?”

       Qin Yun: “??”

Shen Zhuofan rolled his eyes: “Moschery-Xi Zhao-Issa, this is the full name of the current emperor. His photos are on the front pages of all major websites. He’s the super VVVVVIP diamond bachelor on the universal dating sites. I heard that he had previously crippled the brains of several guides… Have you been in battle too much until you lost your mind? How come you don’t even know these gossips?”

Qin Yun looked at Shen Zhuofan like an idiot, and the cat teasing stick in his hand fell to the ground with a ‘pop’ sound. Sweetheart meowed, raised its paw pad, and slapped it on the communication device.

Qin Yun had been wandering around outside the palace alone for a long time. He came here early this morning. He got off at the wrong stop on the way because he was not familiar with it. When he got there, he realised that he was as clueless as an idiot… He didn’t even have Xi Zhao’s private communication identification number.

I am such a failure… Qin Yun thought depressingly. He was probably the first guide in the universe who had established a mental mark but didn’t even know who his sentinel was.

Just as he was hesitating whether to go back first, the palace gate suddenly opened automatically, and the stereotypical and kind voice of old butler, Ba Jin, rang out from the huge loudspeaker in the plaza.

“Dear Mr. Qin Yun.” Ba Jin said respectfully, “We welcome your arrival.”

Qin Yun reflexively bowed toward the loudspeaker, “Thank you, thank you! You are so polite!”

       Loudspeaker:”……”

Ba Jin coughed, looked at Moschery, who was flipping through documents in the study, and said with a smile, “Your Majesty, your little guide is very interesting.”

Moschery glanced out the window and said angrily, “What’s so interesting? He’s stupid as hell.”

Before Qin Yun went upstairs, he saw Ba Jin standing respectfully at the top of the stairs and bowing slightly to him, “Hello, Mr. Qin Yun.”

“No, no need to be so polite.” Qin Yun was so nervous that he almost crouched down, “Hello, hello!”

Ba Jin laughed and patted Qin Yun on the back, “Young man, don’t be nervous. I will take you to see His Majesty.”

Moschery’s study was very large, and there was a door in the middle that divided it into two rooms. When Qin Yun entered, he saw Zhongyan lying on the ground with his tail on his head, and he immediately raised his head when he saw him.

Ba Jin observed his expression and asked softly, “Can you see His Highness Zhongyan?”

“Ah, yes.” Qin Yun watched Zhongyan stand up and flutter his wings, straighten the dragon’s neck and snort. The huge dragon’s muzzle stretched out in front of him and rubbed his cheek. Qin Yun touched it for a while, then remembered that Ba Jin couldn’t see.

The old butler didn’t mind at all. He made tea for Qin Yun, handed it to Qin Yun with a plate of snacks, and said with a smile, “His Majesty may be busy for a while, so I’ll have to trouble you to stay here with His Highness Zhongyan.”

Qin Yun warily and hurriedly agreed, waiting until Ba Jin had left before letting out a sigh of relief.

“It’s just the two of us now.” Qin Yun touched Zhongyan’s head.

A spiritual link couldn’t be too far away from the owner. Since Zhongyan was here, it meant that Moschery was on the other side of the door. Qin Yun took a piece of biscuit, lay on the dark glass door and stared at it for a long time. Zhongyan also followed his example, lying next to him.

“How come I can’t see anything?” Qin Yun muttered as he made a face at the glass door, and Zhongyan also bared his teeth.

Qin Yun rolled his eyes, and Zhongyan also tried hard to roll his golden eyes upward.

Qin Yun made a pig snout gesture, saying, “Oink, oink!”

Zhongyan dilated his nostrils, “Huh! Huh!”

Qin Yun: “You are my little, oh little apple~”

Zhongyan flapped his wings from side to side, but his tail accidentally hit Qin Yun in the face…

       Qin Yun: “…”

The snacks made by Ba Jin were delicious. Qin Yun bit into a piece of apple pie as his eyes fell on Zhongyan’s neck.

“Toothless?” Qin Yun played with the shiny dragon-shaped pendant, “You must have attached these rhinestones yourself…the workmanship is really bad.”

Zhongyan blinked. He stood up and shook his wings vigorously. Then a bunch of rhinestones fell to the ground.

“…” Qin Yun, “Is this all yours?”

Zhongyan nodded proudly. It seemed a little excited. When it wanted to stand up, its foot suddenly slipped. The whole dragon fell into the pile of rhinestones. The Toothless dragon rhinestone, which was not very secure at first, suddenly crumbled into pieces.

       Qin Yun: “…”

       Chong Yan: “…QAQ”

Qin Yun: “I’ll stick it! I’ll help you stick it! No crying!!”

The giant black dragon shrank its wings and squatted aside, sobbing. Qin Yun lay on the ground, using tweezers to carefully mend the rhinestones while comforting it, “Don’t worry, I’ll stick an ultra-luxurious version of Toothless for you, dazzling everyone for sure.”

       Zhongyan nodded while crying.

Qin Yun sighed, took off his coat and handed it over, “Good boy, wipe your nose.”

When Skarter came in, Zhongyan was blowing his nose, and there was a coat floating strangely in the air with sticky liquid on it. Qin Yun was fully immersed in the realm of human and diamond integration, completely unaware that there was an extra person in the room.

He didn’t react until the middle partition door opened automatically.

“…” Qin Yun quickly got up from the ground, not forgetting to put the attached Toothless back on Zhongyan’s neck.

Skarter coughed and suppressed a laugh, “The dragon is not easy to coax…thank you for your hard work.”

Qin Yun nodded awkwardly and bowed, “Of course, of course.”

Skarter composed his expression and gestured in a welcoming manner, and Qin Yun quickly made his way, allowing the general to enter the study first. The general stopped the courtesy and entered the study room first. Qin Yun followed behind with relief. When the door closed, he subconsciously looked back. Take a look—

       Qin Yun: “???!!!”

Skarter only heard a ‘bang’ sound, and Qin Yun, like a dead fish, slammed into the glass door with a fierce expression on his face. However, from the general’s perspective, he could only see into the adjacent room, where a glittering Toothless pendant was bouncing around on the ceiling.

Skarter: “What’s wrong…? Oh, I forgot. This door can be seen from the inside but is dark from the outside. Isn’t it a good design?”

       Qin Yun: “……#¥%@#¥%*&”

Skarter looked confused behind the desk, His Majesty the Emperor, who was staring at the documents seriously, “What happened to him?”

“…” Moschery turned over another page with a blank expression.

Skarter looked strange and said, “…Your Majesty, why are you reading the “Bonding Heat Instruction Manual”?”

Notes:
Zhongyan is basically Toothless, lolol

Chapter 2 – Turning Point

Zhuo Yue hastily wiped away the tears on his face with the back of his hand. He stood up and picked up his clothes in embarrassment. He really couldn’t hold his liquor well, and now he was walking a little unsteadily. He finally managed to put on his clothes, lowered his eyes and apologised, “I’m sorry for bothering you tonight…” After saying that, he was about to run away in a hurry, but his legs were stuck on the low stool beside him. His balance shifted, and he fell toward the coffee table filled with bottles and glasses. Fortunately, Fang Mingyan grabbed his waist in time. Zhuo Yue, who was still in shock, clutched the other person’s arm tightly. It took him a long time to recover and let go of his hand in embarrassment.

“Okay, I’ll take you back.” Fang Mingyan spoke.

       “No need, I…”

“If something happens to you tonight, I will not be able to get out of it.” The man interrupted and glanced at him lightly, “Don’t worry, I don’t have a hobby of forcing others to go to bed.”

It would be unreasonable to refuse at this point, so Zhuo Yue got into Fang Mingyan’s car. He was silent the rest of the journey after telling him the address. With the surge of alcohol, his stomach felt uncomfortable, and his head felt heavy, so he leaned on the back seat and fell asleep in a daze.

The driver followed the address and drove the car to an old urban area. The government initially wanted to requisition this area, but it had to be put on hold because of the large number of residents and the difficulty of demolition. These houses were quite old, built densely and crowded, and the plaster on many exterior walls had peeled off to reveal the red bricks. A row of hair salons opened along the street, with pink gauze covering the windows. Inside, women with exposed milky-white thighs awaited customers. In the dark and narrow alley, one or two unhappy cats occasionally popped out.

This area belonged to the Black Eagle Society’s sphere of influence, and the police didn’t have much control over it. There were a lot of people from all sorts of religions, and there had been a murder and dismemberment case a while ago, which had not been solved yet.

The driver stopped the car on the side of the road and said, “Mr. Fang, the front is too narrow, and we can’t drive in.”

“Just stop here.” Fang Mingyan looked sideways at Zhuo Yue beside him and said.

He was sleeping peacefully, his brows furrowed slightly as if he had had a bad dream. Under the light of the street lamp that came in, the eyelashes cast a small shadow under the eyes, and there seemed to be traces of tears remaining in the corners of the eyes. Because of the alcohol, his breathing was slightly heavy.

Compared with when they met two years ago, he had lost a lot of weight, his chin was sharpened, his face was haggard, and he did not look as bright as he did at that time.

“Mmmm…” The person who had been asleep jolted awake with a sudden tremor in their throat. He covered his mouth and opened the car door in a panic. He stumbled out and vomited while holding on to a tree on the side of the road.

Fang Mingyan was stunned by his sudden movement, chuckled to himself, and got out of the car helplessly.

Zhuo Yue hadn’t had dinner and had nothing in his stomach except alcohol. At this moment, it was the reaction to alcohol intoxication. He vomited thoroughly, almost regurgitating the bitter bile. His body was limp and powerless, and his arms were supported by the person next to him.

“Open your mouth and rinse your mouth.” A mineral water was handed to his mouth, and Zhuo Yue followed the instructions in a daze.

Fang Mingyan helped him sit back in the car. After vomiting and regaining consciousness, he said softly, “Thank you…”

“How long have you lived here?” the man asked.

He pursed his lips and replied, “Two weeks.” He never appeared on variety shows before, and he was picky about advertisements. He didn’t earn much money. The money from selling the house plus his savings were not enough to pay off his foster father’s debt, so he could only afford to rent a more affordable place in the neighbourhood.

“How much money does your dad owe?” Fang Mingyan saw Zhuo Yue looking at him in shock and smiled, “It’s not difficult to have someone check your current situation.”

Zhuo Yue knew that he had many connections and did not hide it from him. He told the truth, “He co-signed a loan for someone, and that person disappeared with the money. The debt fell on him, and fearing his family would find out, he resorted to taking out high-interest loans from a loanshark to settle it. However, the interest kept accumulating, and now, even with all my money and selling the house, I’m still short by over three million yuan. I don’t have a job or any income, and starting this month, I can’t make the payments anymore…”

“Where is the other person now?”

“I asked the old couple to go to a relative’s house in the countryside for the time being.”

“You want to shoulder it alone?”

Zhuo Yue lowered his eyes and said nothing.

“I can give you a chance. But what I want you to sign is a contract. For the next ten years, regardless of what I arrange for you, you must comply. This includes taking on roles you’re not good at, participating in variety shows and events you don’t like, and attending social functions. Your scandals, your love life, and all sorts of publicity will be all under my control. You will have no choice or right to oppose. I will control all of your time, and you won’t have personal time without my permission. Can you accept these terms?”

This sudden turn of events shocked Zhuo Yue, and it took him a long time to react. He pursed his lips and said softly, “I know I am not qualified to make any demands, but…” His eyes trembled, “Is it possible to exclude any involvement in sexual activities?”

The man chuckled, “The company won’t force you to sleep with me. As for situations like that when socializing, it’s up to you how to deal with them skillfully.”

He lowered his eyes to hide all the emotions in his eyes and said, “I accept.”

Fang Mingyan slightly hooked his lips and told the driver, “Chen Li, drive home.” He looked at Zhu Ye’s confused and bewildered expression, and he said, “I won’t allow my artist to live in a place like this. Until we find a suitable apartment for you, you’ll stay temporarily at my place.”

Fang Mingyan lived in a villa area in the east of the city.

It was already so late, and he was so groggy that Zhuo Yue was in a daze and couldn’t see the name at the entrance clearly. When the car stopped, the driver came over and opened the door. As soon as he got out, someone hugged him. Zhuo Yue was startled and moved and heard the man say in a deep voice, “Don’t move.”

The other party was now not only his boss but also his benefactor. Zhuo Yue had no choice but to remain still as he was carried. At a height of 179 centimetres, it was the first time he had been carried like a young lady, and his hands awkwardly didn’t know where to rest, making his whole body tense.

Fang Mingyan carried him directly into the guest room on the third floor and put him on the bed, “You should rest first and talk about it tomorrow.” After that, he turned and left.

The room was warm. Zhuo Yue was still drunk; his head was dazed from the alcohol, and he didn’t have much strength. He reluctantly took off his coat, pulled the quilt to wrap himself up, and fell asleep in a short while.

He had many disorganized dreams one night in which debt collector gangsters came to his door with axes and machetes. He panicked and ran away, but he could not get rid of those people no matter what. With no way to escape, he fell from the tall building and woke up suddenly.

The quilt was kicked to the ground by him at some point. His throat was dry, and his head was numb, all from the reaction of being hungover. He sat for a while, then stood up and opened the curtains and was suddenly startled.

Wrapped around the villa was an exquisite courtyard. Snow covered the tall trees with fallen leaves, showing a unique winter beauty. On a distant hillside, there seemed to be other similar single-family houses, obscured by the shadows of the trees, which made it difficult to see them clearly. There was a lake as far as the eye could see. The vast mist on the water gradually dissipated, and the sun poured down from the clouds, casting a sparkling golden light on the lake.

K City, which had been engulfed by high-rise buildings, still had such a quiet place.

Sunlight streamed into the room through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The post-modern decoration style revealed a bit of yuppie1Yuppie, short for “young urban professional” or “young upwardly-mobile professional”, is a term coined in the early 1980s for a young professional person working in a city characteristic. The white undulating three-dimensional decorations on the wall formed a wave-like pattern, and a black pendant lamp hung in a simple inverted triangle shape. An exaggerated portrait of a certain country’s leader hung on the wall. The room was predominantly in black and white tones, with minimal red accents on decorative items and embellished by green plants, exuding a bold, lively, yet stable atmosphere.

Just as Zhuo Yue was looking around, there was a knock on the door.

He opened the door, and outside was a middle-aged man in a black suit. He handed him the clothes in his hand with a smile, “Mr. Zhuo, my name is Zhou Chi, and I am Young Master Ming’s butler. This is the clean clothes he asked me to prepare for you.”

“…Thank you.” Zhuo Yue looked down and saw the light grey underwear on the top, and his face turned red.

“Please come downstairs for breakfast after changing.” Zhou Chi’s attitude was generous and polite, and he didn’t forget to close the door for him before leaving.

Those clothes were all new, the tags had been cut off, and the price could not be seen. But Zhuo Yue knew this brand. It was a practical, high-end brand that discreetly marked its presence in inconspicuous places like cuffs or the back collar. It was definitely not inexpensive.

The smell of alcohol still lingered on his body, so he simply went to take a shower and put on his clothes one by one.

They were the right size, even his underwear and shoes.

He looked at himself wrapped in new clothes in the standing mirror and felt dazed for a moment. It seems like he had returned to the time two years ago when he was in high spirits, well-dressed and waiting to go to various events. It was a pity that he had long been like a different person, and now he was in such dire straits that even underwear had to be gifted by others.

The Zhuo Yue in the mirror smiled bitterly.

In the dining room on the first floor, Fang Mingyan was sitting, browsing and looking at the tablet in his hand. When he saw Zhuo Yue coming down, he took a sip of coffee and asked, “Did you sleep well last night?”

“Very good.” Zhuo Yue paused and said, “Thank you for yesterday…”

“I’m not interested in accepting thanks.” The man interrupted, “I’m a businessman. I don’t accept you to do good things but to gain profits from you. In short, you are my tool to make money.”

Zhuo Yue’s expression stiffened a little.

Fang Mingyan swept him a glance, “What, I said it too bluntly, you can’t accept it?”

“No.” He lowered his head slightly, “You are my boss. No matter what you say, I will accept it.”

This attitude was a bit out of Fang Mingyan’s expectation, and there was a pleasant smile on his lips, “Eat breakfast first, and then go out with me.”

Zhou Chi on the side immediately brought hot porridge and placed it in front of Zhu Ye together with several plates of refreshing side dishes. He didn’t know what was put in the porridge, but it smelled good. He had thrown up like that yesterday and was now hungry. He lowered his head and took a bite before remembering to ask, “Aren’t you going to eat?”

       “I have already eaten.”

“Oh.” He responded, scooped a spoonful of porridge and put it into his mouth. It was probably hot. He swallowed it with difficulty and hurriedly stuck out his tongue to inhale. Seeing Fang Mingyan looking at him with interest, he immediately blushed and covered his mouth with his hands.

“Do you need me to ask Zhou Chi to cool you down?” The man teased him deliberately.

“…No need.” Zhuo Yue paused for a while, lowered his head and continued eating. When he looked up, he saw Fang Mingyan sitting opposite, still looking at him with interest, and whispered in embarrassment, “Do you have to watch me eat like this?”

“How can you be an actor if you are so afraid of being seen?”

He was stunned by the other person’s rhetorical question, and it was only after a long time that he stifled his frustration and said, “I’m not acting right now.”

“Are you so shy when you’re not acting?” The man asked with a half-smile, “Or do you get shy so easily when I’m watching you?”

He was stunned, and his face turned red uncontrollably until even the base of his ears felt hot. He hurriedly lowered his head to avoid the sight, took a few more bites and said, “I’m full.”

Chapter 8 – Exorcism

This time of the day was probably the quietest and darkest time of the day in the school.

Just inside this secluded corner of the Faculty of Pharmacy building, where usually hardly anyone would walk around, Tian Xin’s soul was wondering. She was actually no longer a human being, but even if she was a ghost, she still had clear thoughts, and she could feel fear.

She knew the man before her was not an ordinary student. He was very powerful and terrifying. She had just seen the true face of this man in the mirror, and it made her hair stand on end.

Tian Xin couldn’t figure out why she was in the current situation. The mirror was not an ordinary mirror. The female ghost in the mirror bewitched her and killed her. However, the female ghost no longer existed now.

Xia Hongshen’s fingers were still touching the mirror, and Tian Xin saw a pale yellow light gradually emitting from his fingertips, spreading from a small area at first to a sudden intense light.

Tian Xin turned her head subconsciously, trying to avoid the intense light.

However, the next second, the mirror that had originally stood on the ground disappeared, and on Xia Hongshen’s spread palm stood a small leaf-sized, petal-shaped glass fragment.

The fragments were full of light and colourful.

Tian Xin suddenly sensed the energy that Xia Hongshen was talking about, and she subconsciously took a step forward, wanting to get closer to the fragment in Xia Hongshen’s hand.

However, Xia Hongshen held the fragment in his fingers, instantly blocking the spiritual energy leaking from it.

       Tian Xin stopped.

Xia Hongshen said nothing, turned around and left.

“Wait!” Tian Xin quickly stopped him.

Xia Hongshen stopped and looked at Tian Xin.

Tian Xin asked him, “What will happen to me?”

Xia Hongshen raised his head and glanced at the semi-enclosed stairwell. He then said, “You gave up your life and died in vain. Your soul is bound in this building and cannot be reborn. You will only repeat the situation of jumping off the building every night, and there will be no end.”

Tian Xin shook her head in horror.

Xia Hongshen said, “Since you made your own choice, you should bear the consequences.”

“No!” Tian Xin shouted, “Please help me.”

“I can’t save you,” Xia Hongshen said in an emotionless tone.

Tian Xin reached out to grab Xia Hongshen’s arm but found that she could not touch him at all. She was afraid that Xia Hongshen would leave, so she could only say in a hurry, “Can’t you eat me like that female ghost?”

Xia Hongshen looked at her and said, “Do you know that the ghosts eaten by me are equivalent to losing their souls and will never be reincarnated?”

Tian Xin said, “What’s the difference between that and me being stuck here?”

Xia Hongshen said, “This is not necessarily the case. Everything in the world changes in an orderly manner, and there is no such thing as eternity. You don’t have to be so desperate.”

Tian Xin knelt down in pain and choked with sobs, “I don’t want to wait any longer. I’m scared. I don’t want to be alone in this empty building, reliving the most painful experiences every night. I’d rather disappear completely from this world.”

Seeing that she was in inexplicable pain, Xia Hongshen just shook his head slowly, turned and left.

Tian Xin stopped begging and just squatted down, holding her knees and crying silently.

When Song Jun woke up, he found himself in Xia Hongshen’s room again, and Xia Hongshen was still not there.

Sitting on the bed, Song Jun vaguely felt that he still had a slight headache and reached out to press his hand on his forehead.

The sun was shining brightly outside, and he could clearly hear the birds and cicadas chirping. From time to time, he could hear the voices of people passing by downstairs and the whine of the engines of cars passing by.

But he didn’t want to do anything. He didn’t want to go to the lab, he didn’t want to go back to his room, and he didn’t even want to get off Xia Hongshen’s small bed.

After being in a daze for a long time, Song Jun saw a carton of milk and a bag of bread on Xia Hongshen’s desk. He was stunned for a moment and realised that it was the breakfast left for him. He suddenly felt hungry and a little embarrassed at the same time.

Song Jun got off the bed, walked to the desk, picked up the bread with one hand and opened the curtains with the other. The sun suddenly shone on his face, and he couldn’t help but squint his eyes.

There was a girl standing on the street downstairs. She was Cheng Ruijing. She was wearing a beautiful blue skirt today and was carrying a small dark green shoulder bag. She was waiting for someone.

Song Jun was a little scared when she saw Cheng Ruijing and quickly reached out to close the curtains.

After a while, Bu Hui ran towards Cheng Ruijing.

Cheng Ruijing took Bu Hui’s hand and said, “Let’s go!”

The two people walked not far away when a person suddenly blocked them.

The man was a young monk, wearing grey monk robes and carrying a slung cloth bag. Although he had been shaved, he still had handsome features and a clear appearance.

His appearance on the university campus was a bit abrupt, yet not too strange.

Cheng Ruijing thought he was asking for directions and said, “Is there anything I can do for you?”

Unexpectedly, the monk looked at Cheng Ruijing for a long time and said, “Miss Benefactor1the monk is addressing Cheng Ruijing in a polite and respectful way in Buddhism or traditional Chinese culture, it seems like there are ominous signs as your eyebrows are shrouded in dark aura.”

Cheng Ruijing was immediately unhappy when she heard this, frowned and said, “Who are you?”

Before the monk could say anything, Bu Hui asked, “How is it ominous?” Some time ago, Cheng Ruijing behaved a bit strangely. Bu Hui had sensed something but couldn’t quite put it into words. Now, listening to the monk in front of him, he suddenly became more attentive.

When the monk heard Bu Hui’s questioning, he lowered his voice and said, “It seems to be entangled with something impure.”

Cheng Ruijing became increasingly unhappy and said, “What nonsense are you talking about?”

Bu Hui, for no apparent reason, felt a sudden jolt in his heart and asked, “What impure thing?”

The monk looked around Cheng Ruijing and suddenly said, ‘tsk tsk’ twice, “I’m afraid evil spirits haunt her.”

Bu Hui’s expression changed. Ignoring Cheng Ruijing’s pulling him alongside, he asked the monk, “Is it true? What should we do?”

The monk stood still, but this time he smiled, reached out from his sleeve and took out a piece of talisman paper folded into the shape of a water chestnut. He then said to Bu Hui, “This talisman wards off evil and avoids calamities, keeping ghosts and spirits at bay. We have some fate between us. For two hundred yuan, take it and bring it back with you.”

Cheng Ruijing finally lowered her face and cursed, “Nuts!” At the same time, she pulled Bu Hui forward and said, “He is obviously a liar. What are you talking to him about!”

Upon hearing the monk mention two hundred yuan, Bu Hui’s expression changed. He was pulled away by Cheng Ruijing and didn’t pay any more attention to the monk.

The monk watched them leave, smiled and shook his head. He held the water chestnut paper and threw it into the air. Then he suddenly flicked his finger and threw it towards Cheng Ruijing.

Cheng Ruijing felt like something hit her on the back. When she turned around, she saw no one or anything on the ground, so she pulled Bu Hui and left in a hurry.

The young monk walked forward slowly alone until he reached the Faculty of Pharmacy building and walked straight in.

The building manager peeked his head out of the window to look at him but did not stop him. Not to mention that there was a religion major in University C. This building was usually crowded with people, so as long as it was not terrorists, there was nothing to be alarmed about.

The monk walked towards the elevator, entered the elevator with several young students, and had someone help him press the button for the fourteenth floor.

The elevator rose slowly, and several people inside were secretly looking at him. However, he lowered his head, furrowed his brow, and sighed inwardly, thinking that this was once again an unprofitable deal.

Song Jun finished breakfast and sat at the table in a daze. He was seriously considering dropping out of school. It was still early, and he hadn’t officially registered anyway. He was preparing to take another postgraduate entrance examination again. He would definitely not go to medical school. If possible, it would be far away from this city.

When it was almost noon, Xia Hongshen opened the door from the outside.

Song Jun turned back to look at him. Although he felt embarrassed, he still planned to stay with Xia Hongshen. He called out, “Senior Brother Xia.”

Xia Hongshen walked in and said, “Get ready and go out for lunch. I will accompany you to the lab in the afternoon.”

“Huh?” Song Jun was a little surprised.

Xia Hongshen said nothing more and stood by the door as if waiting.

Song Jun didn’t have the nerve to refuse, so he had to say, “Wait a moment, I’ll be ready soon.”

On the way to the lab in the afternoon, Song Jun suddenly felt that he was very spineless. Even though he had been considering dropping out, Xia Hongshen said something so non-negotiable that he couldn’t refuse and followed him obediently.

As soon as he entered the Forensic Medicine building, Song Jun tensed up so much that even talking to him loudly would scare him.

Xia Hongshen knew that he was still in shock. Actually, the female ghost would no longer appear to harass him, so he didn’t have to worry so much, but Xia Hongshen had no intention of telling him that as time went by, he would gradually calm down.

There were many people in the lab in the afternoon, and Song Jun, who had been cautious from the beginning, gradually started to become more normal.

There were other people doing experiments in the same small lab. Xia Hongshen stayed with him for a while, then took a phone call and left first.

“Are you leaving?” Song Jun chased to the elevator door and asked Xia Hongshen.

Xia Hongshen said, “Something happened. Please call me if you need anything.”

Xia Hongshen had been with him for so long, and Song Jun was of course embarrassed to ask him to stay here all the time, so he could only nod and say yes.

After Xia Hongshen left, Song Jun went back to continue his experiment. He had thought about giving up in the morning, but now he couldn’t help but feel nervous about the time limit of the experiment.

When Xia Hongshen returned to the dormitory, the visitors had also arrived.

The young monk clasped his hands together and said, “Amitabha, Benefactor Xia, the poor monk is here to collect money.”

Xia Hongshen opened the door to the room and said to him, “Come in and talk.”

The monk followed Xia Hongshen into the room and sat directly on the chair in front of his desk. He said, “Don’t go back on your word. I saved the female ghost who jumped off the building to transcend and dealt with the impurity of your friend along the way. Let’s call it 500. Considering our acquaintance, I’ll give you a 20% discount. Let’s settle for 400.”

Xia Hongshen said, “I have no money.”

The monk heard this and said, “Bullshit.”

Xia Hongshen looked at him and said, “You are a monk.”

The monk said, “What’s wrong with being monks? Can’t monks curse people and talk nonsense?”

Xia Hongshen shook her head and said, “Yun Po, did you send Tian Xin to be reincarnated?”

The young monk, whose Dharma name was Yun Po, looked a bit more solemn and said, “I went, but it turned out that the female ghost had too many grievances, which affected her to some extent.”

Xia Hongshen said, “The female ghost had already lost her body. After confusing Tian Xin and jumping off the building, she transformed into her appearance and haunted others.”

Yun Po held his head with one hand and frowned, not knowing what he was thinking.

Xia Hongshen said again, “Thank you.”

Yun Po rolled his eyes and said, “Cut the crap and bring the money.”

Xia Hongshen shook his head, “I have no money.”

Seeing that the topic had returned to its original point, Yun Po suddenly stood up and looked out the window.

Xia Hongshen followed his line of sight and saw Song Jun, who had finished his experiments, walking along the road, probably returning to the dormitory.

Song Jun was not in good spirits, and his footsteps were weak. When he reached the middle of the road, he suddenly stopped and looked ahead.

The young man standing not far in front of him, reading an advertisement on a roadside bulletin board, turned out to be Feng Junyuan.

Song Jun remembered the mark that Feng Junyuan once said. He intuitively felt that it must be related to the strange things he encountered recently, so he took two steps forward and shouted, “Feng Junyuan!”

Feng Junyuan clearly heard someone calling him, his eyelashes trembled slightly, but he did not turn his head.

Song Jun shouted “Feng Junyuan!” again and wanted to catch up.

But he didn’t expect Feng Junyuan to turn around and leave.

Song Jun was anxious and ran in his direction, but Feng Junyuan, who was about to leave, suddenly stopped at this moment.

Feng Junyuan turned around, raised his head and looked towards the two-story building next to the road.

Following his gaze, Song Jun discovered that it was the window of Xia Hongshen’s room. Xia Hongshen was standing in front of the window, and his gaze was also looking downwards, but his gaze did not fall on Song Jun; instead, he kept looking at Feng Junyuan.

Feng Junyuan pursed his beautifully shaped lips, and seemed to turn away with some displeasure.

Song Jun stood there, suddenly feeling a little confused.

The author has something to say:
The main characters are the ones named in the synopsis, and their relationship is a bit complicated, but it doesn’t follow the typical gong shou cannon fodder or cannon fodder supporting female character narrative

Chapter 1 – Opportunity

On a winter night, after a heavy snowfall, a thick layer of white frost was still on the roadside.

Zhuo Yue gathered up his scarf, put his hands in his pockets and quickly turned around the corner. Because he walked too fast, his face was slightly flushed, and his breath formed a small cloud of warm mist before him.

This was the most bustling entertainment district in City K, where passionate and lively people scattered in places filled with excitement and extravagance, indulging in a life of luxury. He stopped in front of a gorgeously decorated building and raised his face to gaze at the huge sign above his head. His face, hidden behind a dark collar, was revealed. It was a young and handsome face, and the neon lights reflected a mottled colour in his eyes, which were black and shining. Under the high bridge of the nose, the thin lips softly pronounced the establishment’s name.

       “The Lost City…”

He pulled out a black card from his pocket, glanced at it, held it tightly, walked up the marble steps to the brightly lit foyer, and calmly handed the membership card to the doorman. However, his slightly curled fingers revealed his uneasiness. The card was borrowed. Memberships for such high-end clubs often cost tens of thousands annually, and now he was simply unable to afford it.

“Welcome to the Lost City, sir.” The doorman swiped the card through the card reader and handed the card back with both hands. “Can I help you store your coat and scarf?”

“No need.” He secretly breathed a sigh of relief and pretended to have a bad memory, “It’s been a long time since I’ve been here…Which private room does Chairman Fang of Huasheng Entertainment use?”

“Please come with me.” The seductive female greeter came forward enthusiastically and guided the way with a smile.

The elevator went up to the eighth floor, and the greeter stopped in front of a door. She was about to knock on the door when he stopped him.

“No need for you. I’ll go in by myself.”

“Okay sir, I wish you a pleasant stay in the Lost City tonight.” She bowed slightly and turned to leave.

Zhuo Yue stood outside the door, looking at the dark door that blocked sight and sound. He hesitated for a long time and finally grasped the even colder metal door handle with his cold hands. He slowly exhaled and pushed it open.

A stream of warm air hit his face.

Inside the private room, the changing lights created an ambiguous atmosphere, the decadent music echoed in the ears, and the vibrating heavy bass seemed to beat at the heart. A young boy was standing in front of the big screen, singing an English rock song with a slightly husky voice. The man bartending at the bar saw him, raised his eyebrows and asked, “What’s the matter?”

Zhuo Yue pursed his lips and said, “I’m looking for Chairman Fang.”

The man turned back and shouted towards the semi-circular sofa area, “Marvin, someone is looking for you.”

The tall man sitting leisurely in the middle of the sofa was currently holding two handsome MBs1Money Boys or gigolos in his arms and telling some interesting jokes. When he heard that, he looked up at the door. His eyes paused on him, and a playful smile flickered in his eyes as he raised his hand in acknowledgement.

The singing stopped suddenly. The singer glanced at Zhuo Yue, turned off the music, and sat aside with a calm expression. For a moment, the entire private room was eerily quiet.

Zhuoyue walked to the sofa and said, “Chairman Fang, I’m here today because…”

“Mr. Zhuo.” The man interrupted him unceremoniously, “No matter what you want to talk about, isn’t it a bit rude to interrupt my private time uninvited like this?”

He stiffened, “I’m sorry. I couldn’t make an appointment with your secretary, so I had to…”

The other party smiled nonchalantly, “You came to me because you are considering changing jobs?”

Zhuo Yue pursed his lips and lowered his head slightly, “Yes.”

“You offended the investors with your rudeness, got abandoned by Fenglan, and now, with no other options, you want to turn to Huasheng. You’ve played your cards quite well.” The sarcasm in the smile on the man’s lips became more and more intense, “Do you think I,  Fang Mingyan, is a scrap collection station?”

These words were merciless, like a pair of hands slamming his self-esteem into the mud. Zhuo Yue’s face turned pale, and his nails were pressed so hard that they almost pierced his palms.

With exceptional looks and a natural charisma in his eyes, he had enjoyed a smooth sailing career since his debut. Before even graduating, he caught the eye of Shen Haofeng, the boss of Fenlang, and took on the leading role in a historical TV drama, “Conquest of Mountains and Rivers.” This move earned him the Best TV Newcomer Award. Rising to fame at a young age, he didn’t pay much attention to others, displaying a cold and proud demeanour, and was not good at getting along with others.

New talents were emerging constantly in the entertainment industry, and Zhuo Yue’s acting career had always been fixed on the young man in ancient attire. At the age of twenty-six, he was pushed aside by the young fresh faces. A few months ago, the company won him the leading role in a drama and asked him to accompany the producer. Perhaps due to some inappropriate advances from the producer, Zhuo Yue responded with a slap. Not only did he lose the role, it also caused the company to lose investment. Shen Haofeng, furious at the incident, decided to shelve him. His agents and assistants were all withdrawn, leaving him to fend for himself. The producer was quite powerful in the industry, and many historical drama crews did not dare to invite him again. In the past six months, he had not received a single advertisement, a role, or a notice. If he continued like this, he would soon fade out of people’s sight—it was undoubtedly a fatal blow to an artist. The high-interest loans his foster father had taken out had only worsened his situation, pushing him to a point of no return.

Zhuo Yue lowered his head, his eyelashes slightly drooped to cover the emotions in his eyes, and spoke with some difficulty, “I was careless with my words. The other party always said a lot of inappropriate things. I apologise…”

Two years ago, Huasheng extended his goodwill to him, offering a high salary to entice him to switch jobs. The boss, Fang Mingyan, even talked to him once in person. At that time, he was at the height of his popularity, so he refused without any room for manoeuvre, which was quite embarrassing for the other party. Now, he was asking for help because he was really desperate. Huasheng was larger than Fenglan, and Fang Mingyan held a high status in the industry, navigating both legitimate and less savoury circles, and even the producer had to give him some respect. Upon careful consideration, he was the only hope for making a comeback on his own terms.

“If you want to apologise, just saying it doesn’t seem very sincere.” Fang Mingyan leaned on the sofa, his voice was a bit lazy, “Drink this glass of wine.”

Zhuo Yue looked at the light cyan liquid in the goblet and tightened his lip. He was a light drinker and gets drunk easily, so he usually avoided drinking, but at this moment, he found himself in a difficult situation and couldn’t easily decline. He picked up the goblet, closed his eyes, tilted his neck back and swallowed. The alcohol was very high in alcohol content, and when he swallowed it, he only felt the flame burning all the way from his oesophagus to his stomach, which was hot and spicy. He forced himself to endure the discomfort and asked, “Does Chairman Fang think I am sincere enough now?”

“I accept your apology. However, from a business perspective, your range in roles is limited. You’ve stirred up trouble by offending investors, and you have been stuck at the bottom of the box for such a long time without exposure. Why do you think I should invest money in you?”

Zhuo Yue was silent for a long time, with a layer of cold despair in his eyes, as if his soul had been sucked out, and he said stiffly, “You really have no reason to sign with me.” After saying that, he turned around and walked out.

       “Stop.” came a deep voice.

He stood still, turned around and said coldly, “What else does Chairman Fang want? Forcing me to have another drink?”

       Fang Mingyan curled his lips.

This guy’s temper was still the same as two years ago, with a noble and cold arrogance coming from his bones, like a lotus flower in the mud, beautiful and clean. However, in this seething cauldron of industry, such people usually only had two outcomes: they lost power and faded away, or they became tainted. Sure enough, in just two years, he fell from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the valley and had to bow his head and ask for help. However, even when he was asking for help, his attitude was still so unruly, like a stubborn and untamed wild horse, unwilling to compromise.

Overall, Zhuo Yue was not bad. Unlike those actors who relied solely on their handsome appearance, his eyes were bright and clear. When focused, it was as if he peered into your soul. Every movement carried a graceful and serene charm as if he had stepped out of an ancient painting, leaving a lasting impression. This was why historical dramas preferred to cast him in leading roles. With proper nurturing, he had great potential. However, the first step was to smooth out those sharp edges he carried.

Fang Mingyan looked at the man indifferently, “If I give you a chance, what are you going to give in exchange?”

Zhuo Yue was confused for a moment.

He stood alone, with many indescribable emotions in his eyes. Finally, as if he had given up something, he lowered his eyes gently, “Everything I have.”

Hearing this answer, Fang Mingyan smiled and asked playfully, “Including your self-respect, perseverance, and limits?”

He was silent for a while and replied, “…Yes.”

“Okay.” The man sat lazily, with his long legs resting on the coffee table. “Since you’ve come here to seek my favour, you must have investigated my preferences. If you can satisfy me tonight, I’ll sign you.”

Zhuo Yue froze on the spot for a while, then took off his scarf and took off his coat as if he was resigned to his fate. The two MBs beside Fang Mingyan had already stood aside knowingly. Zhuo Yue sat down next to the man, picked up the foreign wine on the table, poured half a glass and brought it to the man. He didn’t say anything and looked at the man nervously with a pair of black eyes. The temperature in the private room was quite high. He had been wrapped in a thick coat and scarf just now, and there was a thin layer of sweat on his body. Moreover, the alcohol he had just consumed slowly came on, and his body also became hot, and his fair face was dyed with a faint red colour.

He never liked such occasions and never participated. Even at the opening banquet and closing banquet, he would only sit briefly before leaving. He was popular at that time, and Shen Haofeng didn’t force him. So until today, he had never taken the initiative to drink with someone, and he didn’t know what to say at all.

The man glanced at the small ice bucket on the table and continued to look at him calmly.

Zhuo Yue guessed that it probably meant adding ice cubes. He was not sure of the quantity, so he only took out two small pieces, put them into the glass, and handed them over again.

Fang Mingyan curled his lips and said to the two MBs standing aside, “The newcomer doesn’t seem to know how to accompany a drink. You guys can set an example.”

The two nodded. The taller one poured a glass of wine, took a big sip, and pointed to his bulging mouth, indicating that he didn’t swallow it, gesturing to Zhuo Yue. Then he hooked the short man’s neck, kissed him, and fed him the wine in his mouth. As lips and tongues intertwined, wine dripped from the corner of his mouth, and the sound made Zhuo Yue blush.

“Have you learnt?” The man sitting on the sofa looked at him leisurely.

Zhuo Yue felt stiff all over and stood helplessly.

He needed this opportunity. His acting career had reached an impasse, and the high-interest loans his foster father borrowed were about to come due. If he didn’t repay the money, those underworld gangsters would literally beat him to death…

He picked up the glass numbly, his mind in chaos.

There was a voice whispering in his ear over and over again—if you fail today, you will never get ahead again. Aren’t you an actor? Can’t you use your acting skills to put on a good show? The most you can do is sacrifice yourself. You have nothing left, so how much is this body worth? This is just an unspoken rule in the entertainment industry. They all do this, and you are not the only one…

Anyway, it was a show… He closed his eyes in pain. When he opened it again, his eyes had changed. The confusion was gone, and the dark eyes settled down, glowing with a gloomy light.

This was his state when he entered the play.

Zhuo Yue took a sip of wine and held it in his mouth, getting closer to Fang Mingyan, then stretched his neck and leaned in without hesitation. The lips touched each other and slowly opened. When he wanted to put all the wine into the man’s mouth, he was entangled by the tongue that suddenly came out. In the blink of an eye, the other person invaded his wet and hot mouth.

Zhuo Yue had only a few kissing experiences, so he was no match for him. He was defeated in a matter of minutes, allowing the other party to march in and take away control. After a while, his throat trembled, and he was forced to swallow all the wine. He was so tortured by the pressure between his lips and tongue that he couldn’t breathe. He put his hands on his chest and tried hard but couldn’t push the man above him away. He couldn’t help but make a guttural sound of “Woo…”

This was the first time he had been kissed by a man and the oppressive feeling of being controlled frightened him. After the kiss finally ended, Zhuo Yue gasped and leaned on the sofa, saying, “Chairman Fang, I’m not good at drinking. I’ll get drunk if I keep drinking like this…” There was a hint of pleading in his words, and his voice was also much softer.

Fang Mingyan curled his lips, “How much I drink depends on whether you feed me well.”

Zhuo Yue held the glass in his hand and leaned close to the man. He raised his face, looked at the man with his dark eyes, and said softly, “Does Chairman Fang think I’m stupid?”

Such a display of coquetry might be an easy flirtatious gesture for others, but for the usually aloof Zhuo Yue, it was pushing the limits. His body was getting closer, but his heart longed to escape immediately. The overly intimate proximity made the hand holding the glass so nervous that he couldn’t help but tremble slightly.

“It’s okay, I can teach you.” Fang Mingyan held his wrist, brought the glass of wine to his mouth and took a sip. He then lifted his chin and pressed it down. This time, the invasion was more forceful than before. He pinched Zhuo Yue’s chin semi-forcefully to make him open his mouth and even held the back of his neck forcefully. With a push of his tongue, the wine and ice cubes were pushed into Zhuo Yue’s mouth. The man’s tongue acted recklessly in the mouth full of wine, attacking the mouth that had been cooled by the cold wine, teasing the small ice cubes that were gradually melting, entangled with the shy and flustered soft tongue, and examining every inch of the territory that was filled with the cold wine.

Zhuo Yue, who was already drunk, was a little confused at this time, and the lack of oxygen made his head even more dizzy. He half-closed his eyes helplessly and gave up resistance. The wine in his mouth had already been swallowed by the man’s skillful teasing, and a small amount of wine dripped from the corner of his mouth, adding a bit of lustful feeling. He didn’t come back to his senses until the third button of his shirt was unbuttoned.

Seeing this situation, the other people in the private room wisely withdrew, leaving only him and Fang Mingyan. At this moment, he was being pressed on the sofa by the other party, being torn open like a package of express mail.

As long as you obey…it will be over if you endure it for a while…Only by completing this scene well can you please him…

Zhuo Yue tried his best to self-hypnotize, but his body was resisting, and he was so tense and stiff that he couldn’t make any movements. When the man opened his shirt, his naked upper body felt the coolness and could not help but shiver.

Fang Mingyan’s warm fingers lingered on the collarbone and then touched the sensitive breasts on his chest. He pinched them tightly with two fingers and pulled them, causing the man under him to gasp unbearably.

“Ah… don’t…” There was some feeble softness in that voice, which was touching people’s hearts. Zhuo Yue didn’t expect that he would make such a sound, so he covered his mouth with the back of his hand in shame.

“That’s a beautiful sound.” The man turned to the other bulge without mercy and ravaged it into the same beautiful crimson colour. “It looks like tonight will be a lot of fun.” As he said that, he moved his hand between his legs and kneaded the most vulnerable part through his pants.

Zhuo Yue shivered and shrank his body, but he couldn’t escape the man’s control. Instead, he was gripped by the suddenly tightened hand, causing him to groan in pain.

“Behave yourself if you don’t want to be hurt.” Fang Mingyan neatly tore off his outer pants and threw them aside along with his underwear.

His naked body was completely exposed to sight. Zhuo Yue’s delicate c0ck was very light in colour, like an abstinent boy, looking like he had never been to sex before. The slender legs that were trying to be closed were forcefully stretched to a painful angle, and even his buttocks were spread apart, revealing the tender secret point hidden between them.

Accepting another man’s inspection in such a shameful posture made Zhuo Yue’s face turn pale. He stiffly endured the other party’s teasing, and when the touch of his finger landed near the opening, he couldn’t help but tremble all over, and tears rolled down from his empty eyes.

He tried hard. He tried to make himself understand the current situation and try to please the man to gain opportunities. But thinking about what would happen next, the humiliation, fear, helplessness and panic made him completely collapse, and he struggled hard. It was a pity that he was much weaker in terms of strength, and with the alcohol, he couldn’t exert much strength. Not only was he unable to break away at all, but the man tied his hands behind his back with his shirt.

“No… please…” he cried and begged, “Fang Mingyan… please, let me go…”

“Can’t continue your act anymore?” The man pinned him down like a lion, his cold voice filled with sarcasm, “Wanting to receive but unwilling to give, aren’t you a bit too greedy, Zhuo Yue?”

Big tears welled up in his eyes. He choked and said intermittently, “I have no choice…it is clear that there is nothing left, and it is clear that I have made up my mind…but I still can’t do it…”

In many years, except for acting needs, he had never cried like this in front of others. The pressure and fear drove him to a complete breakdown. At this moment, Zhuo Yue was like a wronged and sad child, exposing all his vulnerability in front of Fang Mingyan.

The man narrowed his eyes slightly, pondered for a moment and let go of him, letting him cry to his heart’s content. He waited until he gradually calmed down before speaking again, “Have you cried enough?”

Chapter 7 – Partner (1)

Xi Zhao’s speed was frighteningly fast. For the first time, Qin Yun felt that his mental power was not enough. His face was covered with sweat, and the golden colour that glowed in the whites of his eyes was getting deeper and deeper.

In order to control the other party’s consciousness cloud, Qin Yun couldn’t afford to be distracted even for a moment. He was too embarrassed to ask Xi Zhao to come over and kiss him at any time. Seeing the other party appear so effortlessly in control, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of defeat.

“Little chicks.” Xi Zhao killed the last flame crocodile and walked over with a dagger, “Are your bows and arrows for decorations?”

Qin Yun was panting from exhaustion and muttered, “Do you think it’s so easy to use guiding tendrils? It’s not like with other sentinels, one lick and they’ll be fine…”

“O-ne-lick?” Xi Zhao said word by word. He narrowed his eyes dangerously, “You actually got licked by another man behind my back?”

Qin Yun: “…” Where did you get this inexplicable conclusion? Damn it?!

After the baptism of the Flame Crocodile, Qin Yun had already calmed down when the second batch of Mammoths came out. Compared to the Flame Crocodile, although the Mammoth had more substantial combat power and thicker skin and flesh, it was stupid enough. Even if it was very laborious to kill, they did not have to be afraid of being shaded from behind at any time.

Xi Zhao was beating a Mammoth mercilessly like a pig butcher in a slaughterhouse as he rode on its back. Qin Yun found it difficult to watch.

“Calm down…” Qin Yun was still tinkering with his bow. He wanted to try to see if he could condense his mental power into an ‘arrow’ and try to attack, “You have to realise many sanitary pads like us, oh, no, I mean, low-level guides like us generally have to guide numerous low-level sentinels on the battlefield. Occasionally being licked is also a special circumstance…”

The Mammoth let out a miserable cry. Xi Zhao fiercely pulled out the dagger from its eyeball, then stood on the corpse with a face full of blood and stretched out his tongue to lick the blade with an expressionless expression.

       Qin Yun: “…”

Xi Zhao: “Say it. Which bastards have licked you.”

Although sentinels had an unparalleled desire for exclusivity on guides that were linked to them, Qin Yun still found the situation tricky the first time he encountered it

He tried to use guiding tendrils to calm Xi Zhao’s restless consciousness and patiently explained, “I’m just talking about special circumstances… So far, no one has really licked me…” He looked at the other person’s expression and immediately added, “I will only let you lick me from now on!”

Xi Zhao seemed to be assessing the credibility of his words. He was silent for a long time before changing the subject and said, “What are you doing?”

“Oh, this.” Qin Yun raised the bow in his hand, “You can see, this is my mental power. I tried to make an ‘arrow’ that can attack the enemy’s brain from a long distance if I uh… shoot it accurately.”

Guide’s mental power basically had an offensive effect, but most of them controlled the opponent’s brain at close range, causing confusion and disturbing consciousness. Attacks that could damage the brain’s nervous system from a distance like Qin Yun’s were rare even among high-level guides.

“You shouldn’t be just a low-level guide.” Xi Zhao suddenly said, “You’re better than a lot of people.”

Qin Yun was a little flattered by such a straightforward compliment. He touched his nose embarrassedly, “But I don’t have a spiritual link… You should know the strength of a guide’s mental power determines the state of the spiritual link, and there’s no mistake about that.”

Xi Zhao did not retort. He suddenly stretched out his hand and pressed the top of Qin Yun’s head hard, “Even if you have sanitary pads, you must be at the level of diapers.”

“…” Qin Yun’s face was distorted as the top of his hair was messed up by Xi Zhao.

“You can’t be worse than any high-level guide because,” Xi Zhao looked seriously into Qin Yun’s eyes, “I am your sentinel.”

When Tristana rushed to the military headquarters, Moschery had already finished using the practice room, but he opened a small shooting range for Qin Yun to practice. Because it was fully enclosed and soundproof, the person who was focused on practising didn’t know that his immediate superior had arrived.

       “Your Majesty…” Tristana disagreed, “If I read correctly…he’s just a low-level guide?!”

Moschery didn’t deny it, and Tristana frowned with emotion, “Your Majesty, low-level guide has no right to bind any individual sentinel, let alone a god-level like you…”

“Tristana.” Moschery interrupted suddenly. He turned around and faced the female general without a mask for the first time, “Can you suppress my mania?”

Tristana opened her mouth. She had calmed down and said softly, “No, I can’t, Your Majesty. I don’t have the ability.”

“But he can.” Moschery looked at Qin Yun’s back in the shooting range, “He is my guide. I need him.”

Tristana had already left when Qin Yun came out of the shooting range. He was surprised when he saw the appointment letter in Xi Zhao’s hand.

“Our General was here?!” Qin Yun looked at Xi Zhao from top to bottom, “She didn’t do anything to you, right?”

Xi Zhao said disdainfully, “She’s just a guide. What can she do to me?” He copied the appointment letter into Qin Yun’s Smart System.

“Eta secret exploration operation…guide Qin Yun…sentinel…” Qin Yun paused and said in surprise, “Sentinel is you!”

“Why are you so loud?” Xi Zhao looked at him with disgust, “Who else would want you besides me?”

Qin Yun didn’t mind the other party’s attitude at all and said excitedly, “Oh my God! I actually have the opportunity to go on a solo mission with Sentinel!”

Xi Zhao snorted proudly, “You don’t even know who I am…”

Qin Yun: “Or to a classified mission!”

Xi Zhao: “…That’s why I said you should work hard these days.”

Qin Yun: “Do you know how much the bonus is for this kind of mission?!”

       Xi Zhao: “…no”

Qin Yun: “It must be very high! Oh my God! I can finally buy an apartment within the fifth ring road of the Capital!”

       Xi Zhao: “…”

When Tristana floated to Skarter’s mansion like a ghost, the young general thought something terrible had happened.

“Have you been marked?” Skarter poured her a glass of milk, “You look like you just had a bonding heat.”

“It’s worse than that…” Tristana glanced at him half-dead, “Do you know who the guide His Majesty marked is?”

Skarter was a little surprised, “Have you seen His Majesty’s little sweetheart?”

“…” Tristana gritted her teeth, “How dare you hide such a big thing from me?!”

Skarter raised his hands innocently, “I just don’t want Dongliang to know. You know, he’s always prone to worrying about this and that.”

Tristana was so angry that she didn’t want to pay attention to him. Skarter quickly comforted her, “It’s not too late to know now. How about it? What is His Majesty’s orders?”

Tristana hesitated for a while, then sighed and said, “He wants to get that low-level guide involved in the Eta Star operation.”

Skarter finally put away his cynical expression, frowned and said coldly, “Did His Majesty really say that?”

Tristana nodded feebly, holding her chin and muttering to herself, “I don’t know what His Majesty is thinking…”

“What about His Majesty thinks?” Lin Dongliang’s voice suddenly came from outside the door. He was wearing only a pair of pyjamas, barefoot and pinching the bridge of his nose in a somewhat sleep-deprived manner, “What are you guys talking about?”

Tristana’s mouth opened in horror, and she looked at Skarter, “Since when did you two live together?!”

“…” Lin Dongliang entered too hastily, and then he realised that his appearance was actually a bit ambiguous. When he was about to explain in embarrassment, Skarter had already picked him up first.

“Why don’t you wear slippers, Sir?” Skarter hugged Lin Dongliang in his arms. He looked behind Lin Dongliang and asked gently, “Where’s your little panda? It’s been a long time, I really want to hug it.”

Lin Dongliang: “… Your King Crocodile1it was actually a Sarcosuchus, but I think crocodile is good too always forces it to sit in your mouth… Do you think it dares to come out?”

For the next month, Qin Yun felt like he was in Nirvana. He was tortured by Xi Zhao in the training room from morning to night, crying and howling. He was so tired that he could fall asleep even after lunch with Sennas.

“…” Sennas reminded him in a low voice, “Your saliva is drooling.”

Qin Yun woke up with a gasp. He touched his chin in a daze, “Is there anything else?”

Sennas: “What are you working for so hard every day?”

Qin Yun held his head in pain, “It’s not easy to buy a house within the fifth ring road…”

Sennas said carelessly, “What’s the point of doing it until you are so tired? Might as well sell your kidney.”

Qin Yun muttered, “Selling a kidney is useless…I am simply selling my life!”

“Speaking of which.” Sennas frowned and sniffed hard, “The smell of mental marks on your body is getting stronger and stronger. Are you still in contact with that sentinel?”

“That…” Qin Yun felt guilty, “I am his younger brother now…”

Sennas: “…Other guides became a wife, but you just become a younger brother… Where is your dignity?! Even sanitary pads have dignity, okay?!”

       Qin Yun: “…”

“Dignity?” Xi Zhao cut off the head of the Silver Ring King Snake with a knife, “Are you talking to me about dignity?”

Qin Yun tried hard to defend, “I also have human rights! Look, I don’t have a spiritual link. You all know this. Where is your spiritual link? Since you let me give you mental guiding, why don’t you show me your spiritual link?”

Xi Zhao looked at him with a strange expression, “Do you want to see my spiritual link?”

Qin Yun: “This is the most basic form of mutual honesty, isn’t it…”

Xi Zhao stopped talking. He killed the last few Silver Ring King Snakes in the practice room. He seemed to have made a lot of determination and said with a face that looked like he was going to die, “I’ll show you my spiritual link.”

       Qin Yun nodded excitedly.

Xi Zhao wanted to say something else, but seeing Qin Yun’s expectant and stupid face, he finally just moved his mouth and muttered, ‘Forget it’.

Qin Yun didn’t react when he was urged to get on the aircraft. He opened the door and protested, “Don’t fool me into getting on the aircraft and then throw me down in the middle! I won’t be fooled!”

Xi Zhao clicked his tongue impatiently, “Shut up! Get in! Otherwise, I will throw you away now!”

Qin Yun: “…If we’re going, let’s go. Where to?”

Xi Zhao’s expression froze. He turned his face awkwardly and said stiffly, “Cyprus Galaxy.”

       “…”

Qin Yun: “Why do you have to go to a lovers’ sanctuary to see a spiritual link?!”

Xi Zhao said with a dark face and gritted his teeth, “My spiritual link likes it! Do you have a problem with that?!!”

       Qin Yun: “…”

Chapter 7 – Mirror

The sky outside hadn’t completely darkened, but it was getting darker. The lights were on in the lab, and the surroundings were clear. However, in this environment, Song Jun still felt scared.

He locked himself in this small lab, not knowing what to do.

The thick security door of the lab cut off the sound of footsteps in the corridor outside. He didn’t know if anyone was outside or if that person was human. He was not in the mood to look at the experimental results on the computer. He was just thinking about what he should do to get out of this place.

But after leaving here, where would it be safe to go? Even in the dormitory, didn’t that strange thing come to harass him?

He was sure that he was haunted by that female ghost, or in the words he heard Feng Junyuan say today, he was marked. But why him? He had never encountered these things since he was a child until he had graduated college. Everything had only happened since he came to study here. Was it an issue with him, or was there a problem with this university?

Song Jun leaned against the window, feeling the remaining warmth of the setting sun outside, but his body was still unable to warm up. He gradually slid down until he knelt on the ground; his mind was filled with nothing but panic and confusion.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the heavy security door.

Song Jun was surprised at first, but then he became hopeful. He was thinking that maybe other people in the lab would come over to do experiments after dinner. He held out hope and asked, “Who is it?”

       But got no response.

Song Jun stood up, hesitating whether to go over.

The knock on the door sounded again. This time it was a continuous and stereotyped sound, one after another, with precise intervals like a machine.

Song Jun asked who it was but never got a response.

He finally plucked up the courage and walked towards the door, slowly probing his head towards the peephole on the door.

Through the peephole, Song Jun saw the situation in the corridor. There was indeed someone outside, a woman wearing a white dress. She stood outside the door with her back to the lab.

The figure was identical to the one Song Jun had seen when he opened the door to the elevator just a moment ago.

The woman’s back was facing the door, but she stretched out her hand backwards in a strange posture and then made a sharp sound on the door with her sharp nails.

       The sound tormented Song Jun.

Immediately after, he realised that the woman was turning around and she was trying to turn her head around.

Song Jun’s first reaction was to move away, but it was as if his feet were frozen, and he couldn’t move at all.

Seeing that the woman was about to turn her head, Song Jun gasped for air, cold sweat dripping from his forehead.

At that moment, a massive dark shadow flashed before Song Jun’s eyes. The figure was so large that, in the next instant, it completely blocked the entire range visible through the peephole, leaving total darkness in front of Song Jun’s eyes.

The woman disappeared. Song Jun’s legs weakened, and he sat on the ground. He found that he could move again.

At this moment, Song Jun wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. His mind remained blank, unable to react. He didn’t know if he had narrowly escaped a disaster, and if he had indeed escaped, should he drop out and leave this eerie place?

Just when he didn’t know what to do, the knock on the door rang again.

Song Jun’s whole body tensed up, and then he heard a calm voice, “Song Jun, it’s me.”

       It was Xia Hongshen’s voice.

Song Jun quickly stood up and went to the peephole to take a look. Sure enough, he saw Xia Hongshen standing outside the door. He immediately breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time, he became nervous, fearing that it might be a trick played by the female ghost outside the door to trick him.

However, Xia Hongshen then said, “Don’t be afraid, just open the door.”

Song Jun put his hand on the door lock and hesitated for a long time before opening the door.

There was only Xia Hongshen outside, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Not far away, the door leading to the elevator was still open, and Song Jun could clearly see the light coming through.

There was nothing left, and everything returned to normal.

Song Jun hastily saved the experimental data on the computer, then packed up and left the Forensic Medicine building with Xia Hongshen.

He didn’t say anything the whole way. When Xia Hongshen walked downstairs, he said to him, “Please drink some water.”

Song Jun did not refuse. He went to the canteen with Xia Hongshen and asked the boss for a can of beer. He opened the lid of the can and took a few sips. Then he wiped the corners of his mouth with the back of his hand, panting slightly.

Xia Hongshen sat opposite him and looked at him.

Song Jun felt the cold beer sliding down his digestive tract and said to Xia Hongshen, “Senior, I seem to be haunted by a ghost. I’m going to die.”

As he spoke, he scratched his cheek with his fingers, remembering the scratches he had seen before.

Xia Hongshen said in his usual calm tone, “It will be okay.”

Song Jun said, “Really, if it weren’t for you suddenly showing up just now…” At this point, Song Jun took another big gulp of beer. He felt a bit uneasy, a sense of exhaustion after being severely frightened, leaving him emotionally low.

He began to think about some things in the past. He felt that his whole life was going well. He finally got into the school of his choice, but then he had to encounter such unthinkable things.

Song Jun raised his hands to cover his face and said, “I’m so scared. I want to drop out of school.”

Suddenly a hand was pressed on the top of his head, and Xia Hongshen’s voice rang out, saying, “Don’t be afraid. It won’t happen again in the future.”

Song Jun said, “It will be. Someone told me I was marked. He must have seen the female ghost haunting me.”

Hearing this, Xia Hongshen asked, “Who told you?”

Song Jun still had his face covered with his hands. He thought for a moment and said, “I saw that person last night. The one with the surname Feng.”

Xia Hongshen didn’t say anything. He raised his hand to call the owner, brought over a few cans of beer, and then asked Song Jun to relax and drink more.

Song Jun just drank to drown his sorrows and drank all the beer Xia Hongshen ordered. With an average alcohol tolerance and the burden of his thoughts, he ended up getting thoroughly drunk. When he saw a girl wearing a white dress and red shoes passing by, he shouted not to come over. As a result, he was shouted as a lunatic by the passerby.

Seeing that Song Jun was almost drunk, Xia Hongshen came over and helped him up with one hand, supporting him to walk towards the dormitory.

Song Jun staggered, and it was all thanks to Xia Hongshen’s support that he didn’t fall to the ground. As he walked, he kept talking to Xia Hongshen. He talked about his own experiences from childhood to adulthood. If these things happened when he was sober, he would definitely refuse to say it.

Xia Hongshen helped him back to the dormitory room, put him on his bed, and wiped his face with a wet towel.

Song Jun soon fell into a deep sleep, unaware of anything.

Xia Hongshen was still sitting in front of the computer surfing the internet until he saw that the time had reached three o’clock in the morning. He took off his glasses, rubbed the corners of his eyes and stood up.

He walked to the bed and gently touched Song Jun’s forehead. Seeing that he was sleeping peacefully, he stood up straight and walked out of the room.

Xia Hongshen left his room, slowly went downstairs, and then walked out of the old dormitory building.

It was late at night at school, and no one could be seen. He walked all the way to the Faculty of Pharmacy building and stood in front of the gate on the first floor.

The door had been locked, and the administrator had already fallen into a deep sleep.

Xia Hongshen put his hand on the door lock and waited quietly for a moment. Then, the door lock opened on its own.

The whole Faculty of Pharmacy building was dark, and the elevator had stopped.

Xia Hongshen didn’t stop and walked toward the stairwell on the right. In a dark environment, some moonlight and lights from outside can still shine through in the corridor, but the stairwell was sealed, and nothing could be seen.

Despite this, Xia Hongshen didn’t hesitate at all. He walked up the stairs and stopped at the corner between the first and second floors.

However, at this time, Xia Hongshen heard footsteps coming upstairs.

He paused and continued walking upstairs.

On the fifth floor, Xia Hongshen pushed the door from the stairwell to the corridor. There was a person in front of him, a woman wearing a white dress and red high heels, walking slowly forward. The footsteps were made by her, tap, tap, tap, tap, slowly echoing throughout the corridor.

Every night, she walked tirelessly inside this building, floor by floor. When she reached the fourteenth floor, she would jump from the window. In the early morning of the next day, she continued to get up from where she fell on the ground and repeated the process.

Until Xia Hongshen appeared in front of her.

Initially oblivious, she intended to pass through Xia Hongshen’s body and continue walking forward. However, Xia Hongshen’s hand, with fingers pressed against her forehead, emitted a slightly warm breath that she could feel.

Her blank brain began to move slowly. She stopped, looked at Xia Hongshen, and talked to someone for the first time after her death, “Who are you?”

Xia Hongshen retracted his hand and said to her, “My name is Xia Hongshen, a doctoral student in Forensic Medicine pathology.”

She heard Xia Hongshen say this, so she introduced herself, “My name is Tian Xin, a third-year pharmacology graduate student.”

After speaking, she asked Xia Hongshen, “Why are you here?”

Xia Hongshen did not answer her but asked, “Why are you here?”

Tian Xin was a little confused. She thought about it seriously, and then her eyes widened in shock. She said, “I caught my boyfriend cheating. I said, believe it or not, I’m going to die. He then said just go ahead. I will go to the top floor and jump off the building.”

Xia Hongshen looked at her and said, “Then what?”

“Then?” Tian Xin was thinking, “Then I really jumped.”

Xia Hongshen said calmly, “Yes, so you are dead.”

Tian Xin’s face turned from blank to full of horror, “I’m dead?”

Xia Hongshen told her, “You jumped from the 14th floor and died. You are just a ghost now.”

Tian Xin suddenly trembled violently all over, “I’m dead?! I’m a ghost now?”

Xia Hongshen’s tone sounded completely emotionless, “Your soul is bound to this place. Every night you walk from the first floor to the fourteenth floor, repeating the process of jumping off the building, unable to free yourself.”

Tian Xin raised her hands to cover her face, “I—”

Xia Hongshen said, “This is your own choice, giving up your life so easily for a man.”

Tian Xin started to cry. She was very sad, her body was trembling, and she kept sobbing, but she couldn’t shed a single tear. She hugged her chest, curled into a ball, and squatted down.

Xia Hongshen looked at her expressionlessly, showing no sadness or sympathy.

Tian Xin suddenly said, “No! I don’t want to commit suicide. I was confused! It’s that, it’s the mirror!”

“Mirror.” Xia Hongshen repeated in a low voice.

“It started out as a rumour from the Faculty of Pharmacy. I heard them talking about an ancient mirror in the college that can show you what you want to see. I didn’t believe it at first, but one night during a power outage, I went down the stairs on the right and saw that mirror at the corner leading from the second floor to the first floor. I had always suspected that my boyfriend was cheating on me, and at that time, I was in a bad mood. So, I asked the mirror, ‘Can you show me if my boyfriend is really cheating?’ In the end, I saw him in the mirror having sex with another woman.”

Tian Xin said these words slowly while walking downstairs with Xia Hongshen.

“I felt so distressed. I received too many negative emotions from that mirror. I became anxious and sensitive, completely unlike myself. Later, I had a fight with my boyfriend. I told him that if he continued to associate himself with that woman, I would show him me ending my life. To my surprise, he said go ahead. I was in so much pain and wanted to make him regret it, so that night, I jumped alone from the fourteenth floor. I didn’t want to! It was like I was under some kind of spell, and it all started because of that mirror!”

Tian Xin stretched out her hand and pointed at the full-length mirror standing quietly at the corner of the stairs.

The two of them had reached the second floor. If they walked further, they could stand in front of the mirror.

Even though Tian Xin couldn’t breathe anymore, she couldn’t hide her emotions. She really thought the mirror was confusing her.

Xia Hongshen slowly walked down the stairs and approached the mirror. When he reached it, he touched the cold mirror surface with his fingers and said to Tian Xin, “It’s not that this mirror is bewitching you. It’s the thing attached to the mirror that is bewitching you.”

“The thing attached? What is that?” Tian Xin asked.

Xia Hongshen’s fingers moved slowly, and a faint light appeared in the dark environment, slowly illuminating the surrounding outline.

Tian Xin looked at the mirror and found that she was like a shimmering mist in the mirror with Xia Hongshen next to her—she opened her eyes wide in surprise and looked at Xia Hongshen.

“This mirror is originally a spiritual object. The spiritual energy promotes the growth and nurturing of all things, making it susceptible to the influence of demons and spirits. Before this, the mirror was only inhabited by a female ghost. The scenes you saw were nothing more than illusions created by the female ghost. However, you were easily manipulated by her, losing control of your mind.”

Tian Xin raised her hand and put it on her chest. She said, “What about the female ghost now?”

Xia Hongshen tilted his head slightly, his jawline was elegant and smooth, and he said, “Eaten by me.”

Chapter 0 – Prologue

You walk alone and depressed, bearing countless scars as you walk on that long road full of thorns.

Lost in desire, wandering in embarrassment.

Indulged in deception and believed in illusions.

One day, I will wear a crown on my head, be clothed in beautiful clothes, and hold glory in my hands.

Until one day, with a crown on your head, adorned in splendour, holding the glory in your hands.

Who will be there to make you, walking under the dazzling lights, involuntarily turn around and look back?

Chapter 6 – The Capital (3)

After Qin Yun took a shower, he looked at his back in the bathroom mirror for a long time. As Shen Zhuofan said, although the area of the mental mark was large, the colour was too light, and even after looking at it for a long time, he couldn’t see what it was.

“But this is a bit too big.” Qin Yun muttered. He gestured and found that the size almost occupied the entire back. He reluctantly looked closer for a long time, “It seems… there are wings?”

Eagle? Qin Yun thought about it and put on a loose T-shirt. As he wiped the water from his hair, he passed by the living room and suddenly saw a figure from the corner of his eye.

Qin Yun’s hand holding the towel froze on his head.

Xi Zhao frowned impatiently, “Are you a woman? You take so long to take a bath.”

Qin Yun: “…” Who is this guy? Damn it! Is he really someone great?!

When Qin Yun returned to the bedroom after brushing his teeth, Xi Zhao had already claimed the only bed, holding an ‘antique’ phone while reading a novel. Qin Yun was almost blinded by the oversized rhinestone KITTY cat on the mobile phone case.

“…” He took a deep breath and pulled the quilt, “I’m going to sleep.”

Xi Zhao stared at the phone screen without raising his head, “Sleep.”

Qin Yun desperately told himself not to argue with a lunatic, and said patiently, “How am I supposed to sleep like this?”

Xi Zhao finally gave him a look, “Lie down yourself, do I have to carry you to bed?”

       Qin Yun: “…”

Xi Zhao sneered, “Don’t be angry, little girl.”

Qin Yun’s bed was not big, and it was a bit crowded when two men were lying side by side. There was no other way, so Qin Yun could only sleep on his side with his back to Xi Zhao.

While he was in a daze, Xi Zhao’s pheromones suddenly spread vaguely. Because the mental mark was established, Qin Yun subconsciously reached out for the guiding tendrils and skillfully reached into the other party’s consciousness cloud.

The more powerful the sentinel was, the more able they were to transform the cloud of consciousness into a mirage of reality. Because the spiritual connection was not established last time, Qin Yun never really entered there.

In the vast desert land, there was a huge black creature coiled on the huge sand dunes in the distance. Qin Yun glanced at the ‘blue dome’ above his head and confirmed that he was in Xi Zhao’s consciousness realm.

“What is that?” Qin Yun said to himself.

But Xi Zhao seemed to be asleep and no one would answer him.

At this moment, the sentinel’s consciousness realm was gentle and peaceful, but he could still see the traces of the barren land that once filled his eyes. Qin Yun knew that it was the after-effect of the mania episode. He looks around, and the guiding tendrils move along with him, but his attention is irresistibly drawn to the dark and unidentified giant creature on top of the sand dune.

…It seems like something shiny fell on its back?

Qin Yun squinted his eyes for a long time, and a strange expression slowly appeared on his face.

       HELLO KITTY’s…rhinestone phone case?!

Qin Yun was awakened by the sudden heat. He turned over at some point and huddled in Xi Zhao’s arms. With a slight movement, the other party also woke up.

The direct result of excessive use of mental guiding throughout the night was that Qin Yun couldn’t even move a finger now. He can only let Xi Zhao pinch the back of his neck and force his head to rise.

Qin Yun: “…I hafen brus mah teet yeh (I haven’t brushed my teeth yet)”

Xi Zhao’s kissing movement paused, and he clamped the other person’s chin with some bad temper, “At this time, just open your mouth obediently, don’t talk nonsense.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

After being forced to establish a mental mark for a long time, Xi Zhao finally let him go. Sentinel’s pheromone was simply a double-edged sword for the guide. Before the mark was established, it was an aphrodisiac, and after the mark was established, it became a super herbal tonic.

Qin Yun felt so comfortable after being kissed that he lay on the bed and refused to get up. He thought about the pheromone just now, and his brain finally became clearer. He didn’t understand why Xi Zhao marked him.

“Are you a high-level sentinel?” Qin Yun asked cautiously, “S-level?”

Xi Zhao glanced at him and bent down to put on his military boots.

Qin Yun refused to give up, “Averio Academy didn’t introduce anyone to you? There should be many guides willing to be marked by you, right?”

Xi Zhao’s expression didn’t look good, “You don’t want to be marked by me?”

“How is that possible?” Qin Yun widened his eyes and joked. For the guide, the strength of the sentinel determines the status of the military and politics. Even the guide who was very powerful still needed the pheromones of the sentinel to soothe the consequences of excessive use of mental power. Just like sentinel’s mania could only be controlled by a guide, the two were inseparable from each other.

“Thought so.” Xi Zhao sneered. He put on his shoes, stood up and looked at the other party condescendingly, “What qualifications do sanitary pads have to be picky?”

Qin Yun: “…” Damn it, who the hell was it that used the ‘sanitary pads’ so well last night?! I haven’t even complained about you being too much, and now you’re complaining that I’m too cheap?!

His military leave had expired, so Qin Yun started packing his luggage in the afternoon. Xi Zhao had nothing to do, but he didn’t help either. He watched and played with his incomparably gorgeous ‘antique’ mobile phone case.

“Don’t you need to go back to the military headquarters?” Qin Yun picked out a few handy ornaments and put them in his bag, “By the way, do you have a position in the military headquarters?”

Xi Zhao had a ‘it’s higher than yours anyway’ face.

Qin Yun couldn’t stand him, “Don’t you have anything else to do…”

Xi Zhao thought for a while, “I haven’t read today’s news yet.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

The Empire’s news network circulated important news every day, and when Qin Yun opened it, he happened to see the war on Eta Star.

As the third fortress of the Olympus planet, Eta Star was mainly stationed by a kind of highly intelligent bird-like people. There were not many of them, and they were only males. They had a very high mental power but not strong combat effectiveness.

Olympus nominally provided them with military equipment, but even the Empire didn’t know what they were doing privately.

“The population of Olympus is only one-fifth of the Empire, but the number of guides is twice that of ours…” Qin Yun frowned, “They are not even willing to send high-level guides to small places like G Planet. …”

“God-level guide project.” Xi Zhao looked at Qin Yun, “Olympus claims that they have the gene fragment of the god-level guide.”

Qin Yun was stunned, scratching his head, “This… telling me such a confidential matter…”

Xi Zhao sneered coldly, “Do you believe it?”

Qin Yun said seriously, “Since they said so, they must have something to make them that confident.”

Xi Zhao snorted, “I… no one can change the fact that the emperor will die alone.”

“…” Qin Yun, “It’s not that absolute, right? Even if one can’t find a guide… being together with someone one loves is always a possibility.”

“Together with the person you love?” Xi Zhao smiled sarcastically, “And then? One unable to control mania, the other deeply embroiled in political struggles, forced to harm, forced to separate, unable to protect even the beloved?”

Qin Yun’s mouth was half open, speechless.

Xi Zhao looked at him expressionlessly, “If that’s how one loves, then I would rather not have it.”

When Tristana was re-tending the lawn in her garden, she received the news that the S-level weapons warehouse in the military department had been opened. She thought it was Skarter, but was shocked when she saw the other party’s smart scanning card.

“Why is Your Majesty here at the military headquarters?!” Tristana quickly changed her clothes while contacting Skarter, “Didn’t he just change his sword a few days ago!”

Skarter was very calm, “Did you forget that he killed 500 sentinels on Planet G? Maybe the sword was broken.”

Tristana: “…Do you think the dragon scales are just pieces of tofu?!” As soon as she finished speaking, the password on her wrist rang twice more, “Wait! …The S-level battlefield simulation training room is also open?!”

Skarter was silent for a while and said sympathetically, “I sincerely hope the practice room will still be working when you arrive, General.”

       Tristana: “…”

Qin Yun had never been to an S-level weapons warehouse or practice room. He watched as Xi Zhao effortlessly swiped his face (…) and sensed the sinister malice of the level difference.

“Don’t you have a sword?” Qin Yun looked at Xi Zhao and picked out a pair of daggers, “Why do you need to change them?”

Xi Zhao stuffed one of the daggers into his boots and said calmly, “Can you afford to pay for the damage to the practice room?”

Qin Yun was shocked, “Of course I can’t afford it!”

       Xi Zhao: “That’s fine.”

       Qin Yun: “??”

Xi Zhao: “Go and pick one too.”

Qin Yun chose a bow and arrows in a daze. He glanced at the quiver1A quiver is a container for holding arrows or bolts. It can be carried on an archer’s body, the bow, or the ground, depending on the type of shooting and the archer’s personal preference next to him and hesitated for a moment before taking it.

Xi Zhao didn’t ask why. The moment the door to the training room opened, he lifted Qin Yun onto his shoulders.

“I don’t want this position, aaaaaaaaa!” Qin Yun grabbed the other person’s coat and screamed.

Xi Zhao turned a deaf ear to Qin Yun’s scream and quickly leapt to the high ground. The military training room was highly realistic, faithfully replicating the authenticity of the battlefield. The digitally simulated monsters could actually kill people.

Qin Yun was almost scared to death when he saw the first Flame Crocodile coming out. Born and raised as a rare native of D Star, where the Empire spent the longest time, with countless high-level guides and sentinels, even His Majesty Moschery, who had just ascended the throne, had to personally lead the expedition to conquer this troublesome territory. Everyone knew about the fighting prowess of the Flame Crocodile. The most disgusting part is that such a huge creature actually has intelligence. Indeed, a big brain does not grow for nothing!

“What level did you choose?!” Qin Yun no longer had time to worry about the pain in his stomach, “One, two, three, four… four?! What the hell are you going to do with four of them?!!”

“Are you here to count?” Xi Zhao said sarcastically. He threw out a dagger and inserted it into the neck of the nearest Flame Crocodile, and then jumped onto the crocodile’s back with the handle of the knife.

The thick tail swept towards the two of them sideways, Qin Yun was thrown up violently, Xi Zhao pulled out another dagger and stabbed the Flame Crocodile cleanly between the eyes.

Qin Yun: “…This is the second time you have thrown me into the sky like a gymnastic ball.”

Xi Zhao pulled out two daggers, wiped the blood on his trouser legs, and said indifferently, “Don’t worry, there will be a third time.”

Chapter 6 – Knock on the Door

In the evening, Song Jun took a shower in the water room as usual, then returned to the room and watched a movie on the computer for a while before going to sleep.

The little black cat did not show up tonight, and the bag of cat food was placed quietly by the window as if the little black cat could find it for himself even if Song Jun was not around.

The weather during the summer break was exceptionally hot. Even at night, his whole body felt like he was in a steamer, and the temperature had not dropped at all. Although the mosquito net was hung, Song Jun did not put it down. He endured the pain of being bitten by mosquitoes and had to use the small fan placed next to the bed to blow air on himself for some comfort.

The campus was very quiet at night. Most dormitory areas had access restrictions, and even outside the dormitory areas, by eleven at night, the school gates were closed. Almost no people would walk around the school, and no cars would drive by.

Song Jun felt sleepy and fell asleep quickly as he lay on the bed.

However, this peaceful sleep was suddenly interrupted in the middle of the night. Song Jun himself didn’t know why. He didn’t even dream, but he suddenly opened his eyes, and his brain instantly became extremely awake.

Song Jun looked at the white mosquito net above his head and was stunned for a while.

After waking up, he found that even though the fan was blowing, there was still a layer of sweat on my body, and the hair on my forehead was soaked with sweat.

Once he woke up, he felt like he couldn’t go back to sleep. Song Jun turned over and kicked the cool quilt further on the bed, not wanting it to stick to him. He closed his eyes and tried to calm himself down, but he didn’t know what was going on. He always felt a little uneasy in his heart.

The next second, he heard a very soft rattle from under the bed.

The sound lasted only for a little while, then disappeared. Song Jun thought it was his illusion. He lay on his side on the bed and didn’t move. He wanted to listen more carefully, but then it became quiet, and he never heard the sound again.

Song Jun’s nerves were tense for a while, and then he became a little sleepy. In a daze, he heard the sound again, which was still coming from under the bed.

       Song Jun suddenly became nervous.

This time, he was sure he heard a sound, but he couldn’t tell what it was. There was a suitcase under his bed, and the sound just now sounded like the sound of luggage being dragged or the sound of clothes rubbing against each other.

Song Jun swallowed subconsciously. He was thinking that maybe there was a mouse under the bed. His window was always open, and it was on the second floor, just like the little black cat. Maybe some other small animal had come in.

But he still felt an inexplicable fear. Song Jun stood up and reached for the switch on the wall not far from the bed.

However, just as he stood up, the sound under the bed suddenly increased in intensity. It was obviously the sound of clothes rubbing against each other. Next, he saw a hand reaching out from under the bed, its fingers clasped to the edge of the bed, and the nails of that hand were dyed a bright red colour.

At the same time, Song Jun also turned on the ceiling light in the room, and the light instantly enveloped the entire room. The hand clasped beside the bed disappeared, and the sounds under the bed were no longer heard.

However, Song Jun’s entire body broke out in a cold sweat, and he felt that even his heartbeat had stopped at that instant.

He got up from the bed, not having the courage to look under the bed, so he opened the room and rushed to the opposite door, knocking hard.

After about half a minute, Xia Hongshen’s door opened.

Song Jun looked like he was about to cry.

Xia Hongshen didn’t even ask ‘why’. He stepped aside and said, “Come in.”

Song Jun was completely devastated. When he entered Xia Hongshen’s room, it was as if he had returned to the world from hell, and his body began to slowly warm up.

He felt Xia Hongshen touch his head, like petting a small animal, and then pulled him to sit down next to the desk.

Song Jun was still a little dazed. When he came to his senses, he found that Xia Hongshen was using a hot towel to wipe off the cold sweat on his face.

He couldn’t care less about being embarrassed. He grabbed Xia Hongshen’s hand and said, “There is something under my bed.”

Xia Hongshen looked down at him and narrowed her eyes slightly.

Song Jun said, “Really, I know there is a female ghost with red nails and red high heels. She just appeared…”

Xia Hongshen said to him calmly, “Calm down.”

Song Jun shook his head, “I’m so scared.”

Xia Hongshen walked to the door and took a look, then came back and closed the door. He said to Song Jun, “Do you want a drink of water?”

Song Jun looked at Xia Hongshen, and his sanity gradually returned. He raised his hand to rake his sweaty hair and said, “I’m sorry.”

Xia Hongshen stood nearby, waiting for him to calm down.

Song Jun’s breathing was still slightly rapid, but his voice had calmed down. He said, “I saw it clearly this time. I’m sure it’s not an illusion. Senior Sister Cheng is also weird. I think she seems to be possessed by a female ghost.”

After saying these words, Song Jun didn’t get a response from Xia Hongshen. He felt a little embarrassed and wondered if the other party found he looked ridiculous.

However, Xia Hongshen’s expression was very calm. He even put a hand gently on Song Jun’s head and said, “Just rest here for a while.”

“Huh?” Song Jun was stunned for a moment, then realised what he was doing, stood up, and said, “I’m sorry to disturb your rest so late.”

“It doesn’t matter,” Xia Hongshen said.

Song Jun then remembered that this seemed to be the first time he had entered Xia Hongshen’s room. There seemed to be no structural difference between this small single room and his. Xia Hongshen didn’t have much stuff, and his stuff was neatly packed.

There was only one single bed in the room. Song Jun realised that he was disturbing Xia Hongshen’s sleep, but he did not dare to go back to his room to sleep alone at this time.

However, Xia Hongshen’s suggestion for him to stay was actually an invitation for him to lie down and sleep on his bed.

Song Jun quickly refused, “Then why are you sleeping? I, I’d better sit for a while.”

“It’s okay,” Xia Hongshen sat down next to the desk, reached out, and turned on the computer, “I’m still looking for some information.”

Song Jun stood in the middle of the room for a while, feeling a little silly and unsure of what to do, and finally, he lay down on Xia Hongshen’s single bed.

There was no fan in Xia Hongshen’s room, but Song Jun didn’t feel very hot.

There was only a faint light from the laptop screen in the room, and the sound of Xia Hongshen clicking the mouse came from time to time. However, this sound made Song Jun feel at ease. Tiredness soon came over him, and he fell asleep without realising it.

He didn’t know how long it took, but suddenly, there was a knock on the door from outside.

Xia Hongshen glanced at the time in the lower right corner of the computer screen. It was already three-thirty in the morning. Only three of them lived in this two-story old dormitory building, but there was a door lock at the entrance on the first floor. Besides the three of them, there was also a key in the graduate office of the college.

At this time, he was with Song Jun, and Bu Hui had already gone to bed, so why would someone knock on the door outside?

Xia Hongshen looked back at Song Jun. Song Jun was already asleep, but because of the sudden noise, he seemed a little uneasy and turned over slightly.

After a brief pause, the knocking on the door rang again.

Xia Hongshen put down his pen, stood up, walked to the door, reached out and opened the door.

The door was opened a crack, and all Xia Hongshen could see was long hair hanging down. It was a person’s head, which was leaning against the crack in the door and trying to squeeze in. The long hair slipped in along the crack in the door.

Xia Hongshen suddenly stretched out his hand, spread his fingers to grasp the head of the person who wanted to squeeze in, and then tightened it hard.

The face covered by long hair showed a painful expression, and then the facial features were distorted and disappeared from Xia Hongshen’s fingers.

Xia Hongshen retracted his hand, closed the door gently, turned to look at Song Jun, and saw that he had not awakened and was sleeping peacefully, so he returned to the table and continued to read documents on the computer.

Song Jun slept extremely deeply, and when he woke up, it was almost noon.

Xia Hongshen was no longer in the room. The bright light streamed in through the window, creating a tranquil and serene atmosphere. Song Jun stretched and then felt a little dazed. He felt that what happened last night was like a dream. In the bright daylight, he suddenly felt in a trance, not knowing whether what happened last night was real or not.

Back in his room, Song Jun mustered up the courage to squat down and take a look under the bed. There was nothing except two boxes neatly placed.

He raised his hand and wiped his face, clearing up his messy mood.

He grabbed the cell phone beside the bed, and Song Jun found two missed calls, both of which were from Zhou Yingchun. It turned out that Zhou Yingchun went to the lab to look for him in the morning, but she didn’t see him, so she called and told him to go to the lab in the afternoon.

Song Jun left his cell phone in the room, so he didn’t hear the ringtone in the morning. Now, he called Zhou Yingchun back and apologised repeatedly.

After hanging up the phone, Song Jun felt hungry and went to the school cafeteria to eat.

On the way, Song Jun met Cheng Ruijing and Bu Hui. Today, Cheng Ruijing no longer wore a white skirt and red high heels. When she saw Song Jun from a distance, she smiled and waved to say hello to him, as if she was back to normal.

Song Jun was somewhat afraid of her, so after saying hello, he separated from the two people and went to the cafeteria alone.

In the afternoon, Song Jun rushed to the lab. As soon as he walked into the Forensic Medicine building, he noticed it was particularly lively. In the corridor, he saw that the anatomy room on the first floor was open, and there was light shining through. He knew that there was probably a case being sent over to conduct an autopsy.

Song Jun did not study medicine as an undergraduate, and he had never seen a real autopsy before, so he couldn’t help but feel scared and curious at the same time.

After standing there and hesitating for a moment, Song Jun decided to walk over and take a look from a distance. He walked along the corridor to the door of the autopsy room and found that it was extremely lively, and the atmosphere was not scary at all.

It turned out that the people guarding the autopsy room were the police, relatives of the deceased, and several undergraduate students who were interns.

Song Jun didn’t walk in. He just saw Xia Hongshen standing next to the dissecting table from a distance, holding a cold dissecting knife and operating on the body.

Xia Hongshen wore glasses and used a dissecting knife to cut open the human body in front of him with an expressionless expression.

Song Jun didn’t dare to look any further. He turned around and heard two girls standing not far in front whispering. They were probably saying that Senior Brother Xia was really handsome. He was indeed the most handsome in the whole medical school.

Song Jun then glanced at Xia Hongshen again, turned, and left.

When they arrived at the lab, Zhou Yingchun seemed a bit displeased with Song Jun, feeling that he was neglecting the experiments. Zhou Yingchun went on to talk about how if he didn’t conduct experiments diligently and publish papers, he would not be able to graduate in the future.

Song Jun was very embarrassed by what she said, and Zhou Yingchun gave Song Jun more pressure, asking him to get some of the experimental data in his hands within this week.

In this way, within this week, Song Jun might have to spend time in the lab from morning to night every day.

After spending an afternoon in the lab, Song Jun went to the cafeteria to finish his meal listlessly. He was not good at dealing with people like Zhou Yingchun. He felt that the pressure placed on him was too much, but he didn’t know how to refuse.

After getting his food, he found a quiet place in a corner to sit down and eat.

After a while, someone suddenly sat down opposite him with a plate.

Song Jun was startled, and when he raised his head, he saw that the person coming was the boy he had seen outside the Faculty of Pharmacy building last night. If he remembered correctly, this boy’s name was Feng Junyuan.

Song Jun stopped eating and looked at the other person with a bit of confusion. He felt that this person probably had something to say to him.

Feng Junyuan was also looking at him.

After the two people faced each other in silence for a while, Feng Junyuan suddenly said, “You have been marked.”

       Song Jun was baffled.

Feng Junyuan just said that. He then he picked up his food plate and sat down in a different place.

Song Jun looked at him in surprise and did not return to his senses for a long time.

After a while, he began to wonder, Mark? What mark? Somehow, Song Jun suddenly remembered the scratches he saw on his face last night. He was surprised at the time, but then his attention was diverted. When he went back to wash up that night, he didn’t seem to see any marks on his face in the mirror.

He couldn’t help but reach out and touch his face but still didn’t feel anything.

At this time, Feng Junyuan had changed his position and sat down to concentrate on eating.

Song Jun didn’t ask, but he was somewhat concerned about what Feng Junyuan said just now.

After the meal, Song Jun went back to the lab to finish his experiment. By now, the data would probably be out.

When he walked downstairs to Forensic Medicine, it was quiet inside. The afternoon autopsy had ended, and the door to the dissecting room on the first floor was also closed.

He didn’t know if Xia Hongshen was still upstairs or had gone back to the dormitory.

Song Jun walked to the elevator room and waited for the elevator. It was too quiet, and he felt a little uneasy.

The lab was on the sixth floor. Perhaps because it was the middle of summer vacation, there were not many people in the lab these two days. It got dark late in the summer, but the lab was still very bright. Due to the lack of transparency in the corridors and elevator areas, lights had to be on throughout the day.

Perhaps affected by last night’s experience, Song Jun always felt a little frightened from time to time even though it was still daylight. He was the only one in this small lab, and there was a lounge in front. As for whether there was anyone in it, he didn’t know.

Song Jun sat in front of the computer and looked at the time. The results would be out in about fifteen minutes. He was somewhat nervous, fearing that he would not get satisfactory results and would have to work again tonight.

After waiting quietly for a while, Song Jun stood up and planned to go to the bathroom.

The bathrooms were on every floor, just past the lounge in front. When he passed by, he knocked on the door of the lounge and found that there was no one inside.

After urinating in the bathroom and washing his hands, Song Jun suddenly heard footsteps coming from outside.

It was the clicking sound of high heels on the ground, coming in this direction from the other end of the corridor, and seemed to have stopped at the door of the bathroom.

Song Jun felt his scalp went numb.

The bathroom door suddenly opened, but there was nothing outside as if the door had just been blown open by the wind.

After washing his hands, Song Jun hurriedly came out of the bathroom. He heard footsteps in the corridor again, this time on the other side of the zigzag corridor as if the footsteps were following him in a circle.

His thoughts were a little messy, and he couldn’t think of anything. He subconsciously wanted to leave this floor immediately and walked to the door leading to the elevator. As soon as he opened the door, he found that there was no light at all inside the elevator, and to reach the staircase, he had to pass through the darkened elevator area. The lights that had been on all along had extinguished at some point.

Song Jun took two steps back because the moment he opened the door, he saw a long-haired woman wearing a white skirt standing facing the elevator door as if she was waiting for the elevator.

The door was closed, and the footsteps in the corridor were getting closer and closer, and was about to appear in front of Song Jun through the corner in front of him.

Song Jun turned around and ran back into the lab, reaching out and locking the lab door.

Chapter 5 – The Capital (2)

Moschery relaxed his body and leaned back on the chair. He listened absent-mindedly to the emotional speech of the Olympian envoy, “Oh! Poor Thune! He was left on the battlefield like that! Your Majesty! This is illegal! Your Majesty!”

“Yes.” Moschery said with a sincere expression, “I also deeply regret this.”

The Minister of Public Relations probably didn’t expect that His Majesty the Emperor would be so shameless. He hesitated for a moment, not entirely willing, and said, “Your Majesty, I heard you just returned from G Star…”

“Ah, that’s right.” Moschery nodded, “Everyone must have noticed that I also made a mental mark, however.” He looked at the antelope spiritual link guide and smiled sarcastically, “Not that it has anything to do with him.”

The publicist’s eyes widened comically, and he looked at Thune with some disbelief. The latter lowered his head sluggishly and seemed to have no reaction to the outside world.

In fact, he was not the only one. Paulie had been blushing ever since Moschery had come in. Although they could see that she was trying her best to restrain herself, her spiritual link, the proud white peac0ck, had already eagerly raised its wings and was pacing back and forth, its tail stretched out in gorgeous, brilliant screen feathers.

“She must regret not hiding the spiritual link now.” Tristana whispered to Lin Dongliang, and she gloated, “Without experiencing god-level suppression, one wouldn’t understand. Fortunately, His Majesty has already placed a mental mark. Otherwise, she would definitely be begging on her knees.”

Lin Dongliang shrugged, “Didn’t you see that Mrs. Berlin’s mouth twisted in frustration?”

Although Mrs. Berlin was an ordinary person, anyone with eyes could see Paulie’s condition. Mrs. Berlin’s complexion was hard to describe as anything but unpleasant. However, as an Iron Lady who had been in power for more than 40 years, she naturally maintained her composure.

“Your Majesty.” Mrs. Berlin said slowly, “For your safety, the guide you marked must be reviewed and registered by Averio Academy.”

Moschery agreed, “I think so too.”

“…” Berlin probably didn’t expect that he would be so cooperative, “Then please tell me his name.”

The emperor opened his eyes and told lies, “I don’t know, are you not going to look for it yourself?”

       Mrs. Berlin: “…”

“Wait, wait a minute, Your Majesty!” The envoy from Olympus exclaimed excitedly, “We possess the genes of god-level guides. Lord Helu once promised when he was alive…”

“You seem to have forgotten something, Sir.” Moschery’s calm voice interrupted, and a cold, mechanical sheen gleamed on his masked face, “I am the Emperor, and ‘he’ is not yours. Don’t attempt to control me with this useless method as you did with Helu.”

“…” The Minister of Public Relations swallowed in fear.

Moschery smiled, “You must have heard some rumours about me.”

“No, I should say those weren’t rumours, I admit it.” The emperor looked at the pale Mrs. Berlin and said delightfully, “I am indeed a tyrant.”

Shen Zhuofan opened a pet cat shelter in the bustling downtown area of the capital, and Qin Yun was considered some sort of the second owner. Whenever the troops were taking a break, he would help.

“You are too slow.” Shen Zhuofan complained. Both of them were graduates of Averio Academy. However, for some reason, Shen Zhuofan did not join the army or work in the government. Instead, he hid his ability as a guide and worked peacefully as a small business owner, “Go wash Sweetheart, Darling, and Baby. The three of them can toss and turn too much.”

Sweetheart was the Maine Coon that was very dependent on Qin Yun. It was very beautiful with its huge body and fluffy long hair.

“Come home with me, Sweetheart.” Qin Yun squatted down and scratched the cat’s chin. The Maine Coon cat squinted its eyes and raised its neck in comfort, purring from its throat.

Shen Zhuofan, “Whether you take it home or not, won’t I still be the one taking care of it? You’re hardly at home for more than a few days a year.”

Qin Yun smiled and did not deny it. He fumbled around for a while, took out a box from his pocket and handed it over, “This is two months’ worth of stabiliser. Your situation is special; this kind of thing is more difficult to get, so use it sparingly, okay?”

Shen Zhuofan pursed his lips. The stabiliser he wanted was very special. Since Qin Yun was a low-level guide, he would definitely not be able to get it.

“Alright, don’t put on that guilty expression like you’re contemplating immediate death.” Qin Yun punched his chest, “I volunteered to go to the military. Even without you, I would still go to the frontline, so there’s no need to feel sorry for me.”

Shen Zhuofan sighed. He was silent for a while and finally just opened his arms and hugged Qin Yun into his arms, “Welcome back, brother.”

“I’m back.” Qin Yun replied with a smile.

Mrs. Berlin stood in the middle of the corridor, her back straight and her expression solemn and serious. Moschery seemed unsurprised that she would stand in his way.

“Your Majesty.” Mrs. Berlin nodded gently, “Are you going to rest?”

“Yes, Madam.” Moschery’s eyes fell on Paulie, who was following her, and smiled with an unknown meaning, “It seems that you are getting older and have forgotten what happened to the ones you sent before?”

“Paulie is different.” Mrs. Berlin said confidently, “She is the best.”

       Moschery raised his eyebrows, “Really?”

Upon hearing the Emperor’s question, Paulie took a deep breath. She forced herself to lift her head, attempting to extend guiding tendrils towards the other party. Moschery showed no intention of avoiding her, but the girl’s tendrils stopped just a centimetre away from him.

Mrs. Berlin, unable to see what was happening, called out with a worried frown, “Paulie?”

The girl’s eyes were dull, staring motionlessly at the emperor’s face.

“Paulie!” Berlin sounded aggravated. She wanted to step forward and pull the other person’s arm but was stopped by Skarter.

The general’s smile was gentle, but the smile did not reach his eyes, “You’d better call the doctor over, and… if you don’t want her brain to be completely damaged, please don’t touch her.”

Mrs. Berlin jerked her hand away as if she was frightened. She looked around in horror, and somewhere she couldn’t see, Paulie’s guiding tendrils broke into pieces of feathers and slowly drifted down to Moschery’s feet.

Lin Dongliang was in the study room, lowering his head while reviewing documents. Suddenly, his neck felt warm, and Skarter mischievously blew a breath in his ear, “Your Excellency Secretary of State, you are really charming.”

“…” Lin Dongliang moved his neck a little and said helplessly, “You didn’t even come through the main entrance… Is there something urgent?”

“Of course, it’s something that can’t be more urgent.” Skarter said seriously, “Sir, when can you complete the final mark with me?”

       Lin Dongliang: “…”

Tristana: “…Hey, can you stop ignoring me when you two are flirting?!”

Lin Dongliang rubbed his forehead with a headache and cut to the chase, “Has Mrs. Berlin been sent away?”

“Could she not be sent away? The guide she brought almost had a mental breakdown because she wanted to guide His Majesty…” Skarter thought about it and felt that the other party was also quite daring, “What a commendable courage.”

       Tristana snorted: “Serves you right!”

Lin Dongliang was not optimistic, “The last stabiliser His Majesty used became ineffective half a year ago… Although a god-level sentinel can exert stronger suppression on mania, once the mental backlash occurs, the consequences will be disastrous.” He looked at Skarter, “Has His Majesty been acting out of character lately?”

“Well, if the 500 sentinels he killed on G-Star counts.” Skarter shrugged.

Tristana suddenly clapped her hands, “By the way! Didn’t His Majesty make a spiritual mark? Do you know who that guide is?!”

Skarter was stunned. He remembered the words ‘low-level guide’ he saw that day. He was silent for a while and said slowly, “I’m not sure.”

Lin Dongliang glanced at him suspiciously but did not reveal the truth. He thought for a while and said carefully, “Since His Majesty doesn’t want to say anything, then there must be his reasons, and we have no right to interfere.”

“Hey!” Tristana leaned back and fell on the sofa. She stared blankly at the ceiling and muttered regretfully, “Is His Majesty destined to die alone…”

Skarter: “He seems to have said that himself.”

Tristana: “…The right hand will definitely be useless, right?”

       Lin Dongliang: “…”

After Qin Yun washed the cats, he went to the kitchen to cook a meal. Several cats took turns rubbing his trouser legs and meowing underneath. When Shen Zhuofan came in, he saw Qin Yun frowning and rubbing his neck.

“What’s wrong?” Shen Zhuofan tasted the vinegar-steamed fish and said, “Did Sweetheart jump to your neck?”

“No… My head hurts a bit.” Qin Yun took a pair of chopsticks and asked, “How does it taste?”

Shen Zhuofan paused in his meat-picking action. He took a closer look at Qin Yun, pretended to be nonchalant, and said, “Spiritual marks sometimes behave like this. Sentinel’s mood swings will affect the guide’s consciousness.”

Qin Yun didn’t expect Shen Zhuofan to say it so straightforwardly, and he didn’t know how to answer for a while.

Shen Zhuofan patted his back, “It’s best not to take off your clothes when there are many people. The mental marks left by your sentinel are too big.”

“It turns out it’s behind… No wonder I can’t find it.” Qin Yun muttered and wanted to look behind him, “What’s it like?… That guy refused to release the spiritual link even to the end. He’s so petty!”

Shen Zhuofan glanced at it several times and said impatiently, “It’s too faint to tell… It looks like a pig?”

       Qin Yun: “…”

His Majesty the Emperor’s spiritual link, who had been treated like a pig, was currently fighting against the urge to wake up after a nap. Since the last stabiliser became ineffective half a year ago, he had completely become a time bomb. If it were not for being guided by Qin Yun on G-Star in the cloud of consciousness once before, he wouldn’t have been able to hold it together this morning alone.

“Okay, I know you want to find him.” Moschery pressed his forehead, and two veins faintly popped out, “Don’t argue. Shut up!”

       “…”

Moschery gasped and was silent for a moment, “No, he’ll die.”

       “…”

Moschery said angrily, “Alright, alright! I’ll go find him! Stop crying, damn it!” He cursed and started to get dressed, then walked to a pile of shiny ‘antiques’ in the corner and said with a cold face, ” You are only allowed to bring one thing. Take your pick.”

       “…”

Moschery’s expression was completely distorted, “What’s wrong with you getting such a big HOLLO KITTY rhinestone mobile phone case?!”
