Chapter 54: Good and Evil

“……” After hearing Long Ling’s words, Su Muluo remained silent for several minutes.

Long Ling continued to study him, glancing left and right. He found the person in front of him beautiful, with a pleasant fragrance. Holding him would undoubtedly be both fragrant and soft, very comfortable.

However, Su Muluo was reluctant to speak and seemed unhappy.

Could it be that he was taken away?

Thinking of this, Long Ling scoffed and said to Su Muluo, “Even if you’re unwilling, it doesn’t matter. Since you’re in my bed, you’re mine.”

He spoke with an air of arrogance.

Su Muluo: “…………”

Su Muluo felt that this dragon might have some brain issues after losing his memory.

But why did he lose his memory?

He frowned, and countless thoughts flashed through his mind.

Could it be that the Heavenly Law took action… But what’s the use of that? If it can make the dragon lose his memory, why not directly control him?

Or, could it be that the dragon sealed his own memories, just like he did a thousand years ago…

Su Muluo couldn’t make sense of it. Looking at Long Ling in front of him, he remained silent for a while before picking up the jade pendant from the bedside.

Long Ling asked, “What is this?”

Su Muluo ignored him and addressed the jade pendant, “Are you there?”

Since returning from Su Yuan, the spirit of the jade pendant seemed to have lost its power and fell into a long period of slumber, likely influenced by Long Ling’s battle with the golden dragon.

Yesterday, Su Muluo had tried to awaken it, but with no success—however, today, the spirit of the jade pendant had awakened.

“I’m here!” It floated out of the jade pendant, stretching and saying, “Master Feng, my power has fully recovered now. You can summon me as usual!”

Long Ling stared at the spirit for a few seconds and remarked, “What is this? It’s so ugly.”

The jade pendant’s spirit: “……”

The jade pendant’s spirit: “???”

Being despised by Long Ling once was bad enough, but now being dismissed twice was too much. The spirit felt it was intolerable and burst into tears, saying to Su Muluo, “Master Feng! He’s bullying me!”

Su Muluo said seriously, “It’s his fault. I’ll help you deal with him.”

He then gave Long Ling a light tap and said, “Apologize.”

Long Ling: “???”

He looked incredulously and said, “You, who I took away, dare to—”

Su Muluo interrupted, “Apologize.”

“……”

Long Ling stared at Su Muluo for a few seconds.

He awkwardly said “sorry” to the jade pendant’s spirit.

The jade pendant’s spirit wasn’t dull; it quickly realized something was off after hearing the conversation and looked at Su Muluo, saying, “Master Feng, he…”

Su Muluo said, “He has lost his memory.”

“What?” Long Ling said, alert, “What do you mean lost memory? I haven’t lost my memory.”

Su Muluo ignored him and told the jade pendant’s spirit about Long Ling’s strange behavior from yesterday and today.

After listening, the jade pendant’s spirit was stunned for a moment and said, “This situation… seems to have happened to Lord Long Ling thousands of years ago.”

Su Muluo’s attention immediately focused. “What?”

“There was a period when Lord Long Ling was very unwell, and the symptoms were just as you described.” The jade pendant’s spirit recalled, “But at that time, he didn’t lose his memory; it was you who helped him suppress these anomalies… As for how you suppressed them, I’m not very clear.”

“However, you did tell me that Lord Long Ling’s condition was due to him falling into demonic possession.”

Su Muluo was taken aback. “What does falling into demonic possession mean?”

The jade pendant’s spirit shrank a bit, looking somewhat pained and confused.

“Strange… I clearly didn’t know this before…” it muttered, “Thousands of years ago, you said… Lord Long Ling was the only black dragon in the world, which made him different from others… When he couldn’t control his own power, he would fall into demonic possession.”

It seemed to finally recall some details and spoke more smoothly, “But generally, Lord Long Ling wouldn’t lose control of his power—unless he self-destructed, or some external force was affecting him.”

The jade pendant’s spirit stopped at this point, but Su Muluo had already understood many things.

Long Ling couldn’t have self-destructed for no reason, so the only explanation was that some external force was influencing him—and that force was likely the Heavenly Law.

However, it was clear that the Heavenly Law couldn’t truly control Long Ling; it could only influence him. This meant another fact—

The so-called Heavenly Law might not be as powerful as they imagined, or it could do very little, even being unable to interfere directly with the world, and had to use other means to achieve its goals.

And Long Ling’s memory loss might be a way for him to alleviate his demonic possession and resist the Heavenly Law’s influence.

Suddenly, the confusion in Su Muluo’s mind cleared, and he looked at the jade pendant’s spirit and asked, “What will happen if he truly falls into demonic possession?”

“I don’t know… Actually, you didn’t know either at that time,” the jade pendant’s spirit said, “But I think the consequences would be severe.”

Su Muluo was silent for a few seconds and whispered, “Indeed.”

The Heavenly Law had influenced Long Ling thousands of years ago, trying to make him fall into demonic possession, and it was still the same thousands of years later… But whether thousands of years ago or now, there were more dragons in the world besides Long Ling, so why did the Heavenly Law choose him?

Or is it because he is the only black dragon, the most special one…

Su Muluo thought of this and turned to look at Long Ling.

Long Ling: “……”

“What are you guys talking about?” He listened to Su Muluo and the jade pendant’s spirit exchanging words and felt completely lost, “Are you talking about me?”

Su Muluo looked at him for a moment without answering, then asked the jade pendant’s spirit, “Do you really not know how I dealt with his anomalies thousands of years ago?”

“Well… maybe when the time comes, you will remember it yourself,” the jade pendant’s spirit said, “Actually, those memories I just recalled—seems like you sealed part of my memories thousands of years ago. Only when you ask me can I remember.”

Su Muluo: “……”

In other words, if his dragon hadn’t shown these symptoms, he wouldn’t have asked the jade pendant’s spirit, the spirit wouldn’t have recalled anything, and he would remain unaware of this past—only when these things truly happened could he find out the reason.

It seemed that he really hoped that his future self would avoid all this… Unfortunately, what is meant to come will come, and it can’t be avoided.

Holding this thought, Su Muluo asked the jade pendant’s spirit, “Do you know if I had any similar demonic possession conditions thousands of years ago, and why I sealed my own memories?”

“No, you were fine at that time… Uh, at least I don’t remember you having any issues.” The jade pendant’s spirit said, “I don’t know why you sealed your own memories; you should not have told me about it.”

Su Muluo nodded, not surprised by the answer, and said, “Thank you. It’s thanks to you that I now know the answers to these questions.”

The spirit of the jade pendant floated with a hint of joy and chuckled, “This is something you told me thousands of years ago, so there’s no need to thank me.”

“—However, since Lord Long Ling has lost his memory, I suggest you observe him for a while to avoid any further issues.”

After hearing this, Su Muluo shifted his gaze back to Long Ling.

In fact, knowing that his dragon might have actively sealed its own memories made him somewhat angry.

His dragon hadn’t informed him and chose to bear everything on its own, resisting the influence of the Heavenly Law by itself.

If it weren’t for the spirit of the jade pendant, he might still be in the dark, anxiously worried whether his dragon was truly controlled by the Heavenly Law…

With this thought in mind, Su Muluo gave Long Ling another pat.

Long Ling: “?”

Why was he being hit again?

And there was that long speech he didn’t understand at all.

So frustrating!

Immediately, he transformed back into the black dragon and coiled around Su Muluo.

Su Muluo: “…”

The black dragon coiled around him so tightly that he could hardly move. He stared at the dragon for a few seconds and said, “Let me go.”

The black dragon remained unmoved.

Su Muluo: Tsk.

So he turned his face away, ignoring the dragon.

The room fell silent, as if they were in a cold war.

The spirit of the jade pendant quietly withdrew, not wanting to be involved. After a while, the black dragon’s gaze landed on an item at the head of the bed, and its eyes sharpened.

It was a piece of spine encased in black mist.

His instincts told him that this was his dragon bone.

The black dragon immediately transformed back into human form, picked up the dragon bone, and said, “Why is my bone here?”

Su Muluo replied, “You gave this to me. I want it back.”

Long Ling didn’t respond but narrowed his eyes slightly.

He hadn’t fully heard the conversation between Su Muluo and the spirit of the jade pendant because he couldn’t understand it. However, from their snippets of conversation, he could sense that his relationship with this person was quite intimate.

But giving away his dragon bone… it seemed a bit too intimate.

So he said, “If you admit you’re my wife, I’ll give it to you.”

Su Muluo: “…”

He stared at Long Ling in silence.

Long Ling, very stubbornly, said, “Staring at me won’t help. If my dragon bone is to be given to anyone, it’s to my wife.”

“So, are you my wife?”

Su Muluo: “…………”

He looked at Long Ling for a while without responding and said, “You promised to turn it into a dagger for me.”

Long Ling huffed, “Did I say that? I don’t remember—are you my wife?”

Su Muluo remained silent.

He just stared at him with his beautiful dark eyes, unblinking.

Long Ling: “…”

This person seemed to be acting coquettish with him.

…A bit cute.

So, he said nothing and let the black mist in his hand engulf the dragon bone—

Moments later, a dagger made from the bone appeared in Long Ling’s palm, its blade sharp enough to cut through anything in the world.

He raised his eyes and said to Su Muluo, “You—”

Before he could say more, Su Muluo took the dagger directly and put it away himself.

Long Ling: “?”

No thank you?

Not even a word of acknowledgment??

He immediately felt displeased and wanted to transform back into the black dragon to coil around Su Muluo again. However, Su Muluo was already prepared and quickly got out of bed to head to the bathroom.

Long Ling paused for a second and then followed right after.

His temper was so bad.

As he followed, he thought to himself.

Apart from being a bit more attractive, a bit more fragrant, a bit softer, and more comfortable to hold…

He didn’t seem to have many flaws.

Well, if he had a bad temper, so be it.

With this thought, he even felt a bit pleased.

After a while, Su Muluo finished washing up in the room, then picked out a set of clothes from the wardrobe for Long Ling and said, “Put these on. I’ll wait for you outside.”

Long Ling replied with an “Oh” and asked, “Why don’t you help me put them on?”

Su Muluo gave him a glance and turned to leave.

Long Ling: Tsk.

He changed into the clothes, opened the door, and walked out. Upon seeing the small living room, he remained silent for a few seconds and said, “It’s so small.”

Then he asked, “Why are we living in a place like this?”

Su Muluo simply replied, “No money.”

Long Ling frowned slightly and asked, “Don’t I have money?”

Su Muluo patted his head and laughed, “You’re broke. Let’s go, we’re heading out.”

He planned to take his dragon to a café and maybe stroll around familiar places to help trigger some of the dragon’s memories.

Long Ling took Su Muluo’s hand and asked in confusion, “What are we going out for?”

Su Muluo answered, “To work.”

Long Ling: “?”

Long Ling immediately felt offended, “No way!”

He refused to work; he was a dragon, after all. Why should he work?

Su Muluo fixed his gaze on Long Ling and asked, “Are you going or not?”

Long Ling met his eyes and stubbornly said, “Not going.”

He wouldn’t go just because he said so!

Su Muluo squinted his eyes slightly and said, “Go, or not?”

Long Ling: “…”

So fierce.

But also so cute.

So, after a second of hesitation, he calmly said:

“Fine. I’ll go.”
