Chapter 67: Side Story One
A few days later.
In the dimly lit room, the bedding was disheveled, clothes were scattered, and the air was filled with a suggestive atmosphere.
Su Muluo was nestled against Long Ling’s chest, his long eyelashes gently closed as he slept.
Although he was asleep, one of his hands still clung to the hem of Long Ling’s clothes. There was a red mark on his pale wrist, a sign of having been bound.
Long Ling had woken up early, holding his phoenix and happily rubbing against him, gently massaging his wrist, kissing his hair, and kissing his face.
Then he woke his phoenix with kisses.
When Su Muluo woke up, his mind was still a bit hazy. He lay in Long Ling’s arms, dazed for a moment, until Long Ling leaned in and whispered with a chuckle, “Phoenix, how did you sleep?”
Su Muluo: “……”
Su Muluo immediately got angry and didn’t want to deal with this dragon, transforming back to his original form.
A beautiful little phoenix landed on Long Ling’s head, loudly chirping “cheep cheep” and angrily hopping around on his head.
Long Ling looked at his phoenix and thought its hopping was so cute that he wanted to touch it.
So he calmly petted the little phoenix’s feathers.
The little phoenix fell silent for a brief second.
“Cheep!!”
It was astonished that this dragon dared to touch it, so it pecked Long Ling sharply and flapped its wings furiously at him.
Long Ling laughed, cupping the irate little phoenix in his palm and stroking its slightly fluffed-up feathers, saying sincerely, “Sorry, phoenix, I was wrong. I promise I won’t be so excessive next time. Will you forgive me?”
Little Phoenix: “Cheep!!”
Not believing you!
You said the same thing last time!!
“Last time it was because it was the first time, and this time it’s because it’s been too long. There are reasons for both,” Long Ling said with innocent eyes. “If the phoenix lets me touch its feathers every day, I definitely won’t be so excessive.”
Hearing this, the little phoenix pecked him again in anger, refusing to be touched. It fluttered its wings and flew to the top of his head, ruffling his hair with its claws.
Long Ling had a soft, fluffy phoenix on his head. After a while, he quietly grabbed his phone from the bedside, capturing a photo of the little phoenix glaring fiercely at him while perched on his head.
The little phoenix turned its head away, not letting him take the photo, its ruby-like eyes scanning the room with clear curiosity.
It had known that its dragon had brought it to a new place, but it was only now taking the time to inspect the surroundings.
The room was spacious and bright, decorated in a warm and attractive manner. Morning light streamed through a crack in the curtains, and there was a charming balcony outside.
Long Ling picked up the little phoenix and walked over to the balcony, pulling back the curtains.
It was the second floor, and from the balcony, one could see the garden below, filled with various colorful flowers, delicate and beautiful.
“Phoenix, look,” Long Ling said, “the garden you mentioned. Do you like it?”
The little phoenix chirped in approval and then tilted its head up to look at Long Ling.
Where did you get the money?
It remembered that not long ago, Long Ling had said he would soon have money and would buy it a big house with a garden—didn’t expect it to come true so quickly.
Long Ling said, “Of course, I earned it myself.”
Seeing the little phoenix’s curious look, he took the opportunity to stroke its fluffy feathers again and said, “I first learned a lot through the internet, then used my abilities to recruit some妖 (yāo), or supernatural beings, living in human cities. They all had experience working in human companies. Although they didn’t know my true identity, they decided to follow me.”
“Later, I quickly accumulated my first batch of funds and started my own company. The妖 I had recruited were my first employees… and soon, the company grew.”
Little Phoenix: “Cheep?”
Wait, how did you accumulate the first batch of money?
Long Ling blinked and said, “Do you know what stock trading is?”
Little Phoenix: “……”
It didn’t seem to know much about it.
It hadn’t looked into it before!
Long Ling took the chance to pet the little phoenix’s head and said with a slight smile, “It’s okay, phoenix. You don’t need to know; I do. And not only in business, I’ve also built up a certain network in other areas—so even if the phoenix’s coffee shop doesn’t make money in the future, I can support you!”
His tone had a touch of pride.
Little Phoenix: “……”
Phoenixes and dragons are highly intelligent beings, learning things with just a bit of exposure. So it didn’t doubt its dragon’s abilities.
However, achieving all this in such a short time still surprised it.
So it lowered its head and gave Long Ling a kiss.
Long Ling’s expression was a bit strange. When the phoenix turned back to its original form, kissing him and pecking him were actually quite similar. So when the phoenix pecked him in anger, he would think of it as a kiss. Now, when the phoenix was happy and kissed him, he might mistakenly think it was pecking him.
But whether it was a kiss or a peck, it was a sign that the phoenix liked him.
As Long Ling was happily lost in his thoughts, little pheonix chirped a few times again.
“So, last time at the hotel, were you out late because of work too?”
Long Ling nodded, saying, “There was something that needed my attention over there, so I went to handle it.”
Thinking back, he regretted it a bit. He had thought he could quickly resolve the matter, but Phoenix woke up as soon as she noticed he wasn’t there, and she was quite panicked for a while.
Recalling Phoenix’s expression at that time, Long Ling still felt a pang of guilt. He had established his company and built his network primarily for his Phoenix. If upsetting her meant all this had no meaning.
The little pheonix wasn’t too concerned about this matter and was just casually asking. Soon, she flew up to Long Ling’s head and chirped, asking him to take her to see the new house.
The new house was large, a three-story detached villa with a beautiful garden and even a swimming pool.
Long Ling said, “In the future, Phoenix can swim here!”
The little pheonix chirped happily in response.
Feeling his Phoenix’s cuteness, Long Ling couldn’t help but smile slightly and stroked little pheonix’s feathers.
The little pheonix protested, “Chirp chirp chirp!”
“No touching! You’ll make my feathers turn pink again!”
Long Ling just responded with an “Oh” and continued to stroke.
The little pheonix huffed silently in his palm, looking fierce but allowing Long Ling to keep petting.
Long Ling took advantage happily for a while and then suddenly asked, “By the way, Phoenix, would you like to go somewhere for fun?”
Now that he had money, he could take his Phoenix on trips!
Feeling like her feathers might turn pink again, little pheonix was trying hard to crawl into Long Ling’s pocket when she heard this sentence, tilting her head.
“Chirp?”
It seemed possible!
Long Ling immediately raised his chin arrogantly and said, “Then Phoenix, give me a kiss! Kiss me and I’ll take Phoenix with me!”
The little pheonix ignored him.
She snorted and burrowed into his pocket.
Long Ling slightly pulled open his pocket and saw a fluffy little ball nestled inside, looking like a round pink cotton ball.
Unable to resist, he lightly poked it.
The little pheonix immediately pecked Long Ling on the finger and then curled up into an even smaller ball.
“Go away!”
Long Ling chuckled, holding the little ball and was about to take out his phone to see where was suitable for a trip when a call came in.
He glanced at the caller ID and immediately hung up.
“Chirp?”
Who was it?
Long Ling said, “I don’t know.”
The little pheonix didn’t believe him. She poked her head out of his pocket and glanced at the phone screen.
—It was Liu He calling.
The little pheonix immediately looked at Long Ling.
Long Ling looked innocent and said, “Every time their Bureau contacts Phoenix, it’s not for good things. I won’t bother with them.” Then he added, “Phoenix, stay here. Don’t go anywhere.”
“Chirp chirp.”
What if it’s something important?
“Doesn’t matter. The big issues are resolved now. Even if there’s something, it’s trivial.” Long Ling redirected the topic very directly and said, “What does Phoenix want to eat today? I’ll cook for Phoenix.”
The little pheonix was indeed distracted. After thinking for a while, she raised her little head and chirped loudly.
It wants a feast!
It wants lots of delicious food!
A smile crossed Long Ling’s eyes. “Okay.”
Then, holding this chirping little Phoenix, they went out together to buy groceries.
