Chapter 69: Side Story Three

A little phoenix was hopping around on the pillow. Seeing Long Ling staring at him silently, it let out a soft chirp.

“What’s up?”

“Aren’t you supposed to be preening your feathers?”

Long Ling stayed silent for a moment, then said, “Or… should the phoenix change back?”

Upon hearing this, the little phoenix immediately stopped hopping and glared at him indignantly, “Chirp!”

Are you disgusted with my original form?

“How could I,” Long Ling quickly changed his tune upon hearing this, “the phoenix is the most beautiful! Whether in human form or original form, you’re gorgeous in both. I love the phoenix the most!”

He then hugged the little phoenix, stroking its fluffy and soft feathers.

The little phoenix hummed softly and nestled quietly in his palm, letting him stroke its feathers.

Long Ling looked down at his phoenix, feeling that although he couldn’t do much with the phoenix like this, just stroking its feathers felt nice.

After all, when his phoenix returned to its original form, it was incredibly cute, with soft feathers that felt like the finest silk, making it irresistible to touch.

So, while stroking the phoenix’s feathers, he smiled happily.

The little phoenix allowed its dragon to stroke it for a while, its small head tilting slightly, looking somewhat sleepy.

Long Ling stopped his hand and transformed into a black dragon, coiling on the bed, his bright golden dragon eyes fixed on it without blinking.

The little phoenix locked eyes with its dragon for a few seconds, found a comfortable spot on him, and nestled down, chirping softly once more.

Tired, going to sleep.

The black dragon gently growled, flicked its tail, and turned off the room’s light.

The room plunged into darkness, the black dragon rested its head against its phoenix, feeling the phoenix sneak a kiss, a hint of smile passing through its bright golden eyes.

Thus, it curled around its beloved phoenix, falling asleep together.

The next morning, Su Muluo was awakened by his dragon just like yesterday.

Still a bit drowsy after waking up, he didn’t feel like getting up, so he curled up under the blanket, tugged at Long Ling’s clothes, indicating he wanted to sleep and not be kissed.

Seeing his sleepy little phoenix refusing to open its eyes, still wanting to cuddle into him, Long Ling couldn’t help but chuckle softly, then kissed Su Muluo’s soft face—after which, he hugged him tightly and pulled up the blanket.

Su Muluo comfortably leaned against Long Ling’s chest for a while, and when he woke up again, he didn’t feel as sleepy.

He raised his head and looked at his dragon, asking, “What time is it?”

Long Ling glanced at his bedside phone and said, “Still early, only eight thirty. The phoenix can sleep a little longer.”

Su Muluo turned his head and thought for a moment, then said, “No, I want to go to the coffee shop.”

Calculating the time, it seemed his coffee shop had been closed for quite a while.

Upon hearing this, Long Ling became a bit unhappy. It wasn’t that he didn’t want his phoenix to run the coffee shop. It was just that after this period of time, those regular customers might come back and greet his phoenix affectionately again. He didn’t like their attitude; only he could be so affectionate with his phoenix.

Su Muluo seemed to sense his thoughts, patting his head and laughing, “I have nothing to do with them. It’s just you who always overthinks things.”

“I don’t care,” Long Ling said, “I just love overthinking. I want my phoenix to kiss me.”

Ignoring his comment, Su Muluo slowly tried to get up. Long Ling wouldn’t let him leave his embrace, holding his hand and pulling him back into his arms.

“From now on, every morning I want kisses from my phoenix!” Long Ling held onto Su Muluo firmly, confidently declaring, “Otherwise, I won’t get out of bed!”

Su Muluo: “…”

Su Muluo: “You’re so childish.”

Long Ling: “No way, it’s clearly the phoenix being stingy.” He sounded a bit hurt, “The phoenix won’t even kiss me or let me do anything, so stingy.”

Su Muluo: “?”

After hearing this, he lightly patted Long Ling on the head. But the next moment, he lowered his head and quickly kissed Long Ling on the lips.

Then, as if nothing had happened, he said, “Kiss done, I’m getting up now.”

Long Ling: “Just one kiss? Not enough, kiss me again.”

Su Muluo: “??”

Is he seriously making demands?

Without any expression, he stared at Long Ling, who looked back at him in a very stubborn manner.

“… minutes later, Long Ling got several kisses, and he was very happy with his phoenix when they left the house.

When Su Muluo returned to the unfamiliar coffee shop, he saw a teenager who was

However, unlike before, Su Muluo couldn’t help but feel that Qiansui’s aura this time was considerably melancholic, as if he had transformed from a free little kitten into a daily laboring office worker, and all under duress.

… It seemed like that was indeed the case.

Thinking this, Su Muluo couldn’t help but feel a twinge of guilt as he pushed open the shop door and walked in with Long Ling.

Qiansui thought it was a customer arriving, barely lifting his eyes. But when he saw Su Muluo and Long Ling, his eyes instantly lit up as if he had discovered a new continent.

Su Muluo said, “I—”

Before he could finish, Qiansui immediately turned back into an orange cat and with a “whoosh,” dashed past them and happily ran outside.

His departing figure was incredibly cheerful, so cheerful that he accidentally slipped and fell on his butt, then got up and continued rushing outside.

Su Muluo: “…”

He said, “I feel like I’m a heartless boss exploiting child labor.”

“It’s okay,” Long Ling chuckled, “Pheonix can pay him wages and cat food.”

Su Muluo considered it. But now it seemed that Qiansui, who had been forced to work for so long, might not come back to the shop anytime soon.

He stood at the bar and tried brewing a cup of coffee first, took a sip, and felt his hands weren’t really warm, but the coffee he brewed was still delicious.

Beside him, Long Ling said, “I want some too.”

Su Muluo handed him the coffee in his hand and asked, “But I thought you didn’t like coffee?”

He remembered the first time he brewed coffee and let this yet-to-be-transformed dragon taste it, only to have it spat out by the little black dragon.

Long Ling said, “Because it’s brewed by Pheonix, that’s why I want to drink it.”

After saying that, he happily took a sip.

Then he froze slightly.

Su Muluo observed his expression and asked, “How is it? Is it good?”

“…,” Long Ling was silent for a second and said, “Not good.”

Then he quickly set down the cup of coffee and pushed it away.

Su Muluo: Tsk.

He didn’t think his coffee was bad at all; it must be a matter of his dragon’s taste.

After all, the customers who came to him all thought his coffee was delicious! None had ever said it was bad!

“It really isn’t good,” Long Ling said, “I want Pheonix to go back and make me honey water.”

Su Muluo patted his head and said, “Alright, I’ll make it sweet for you.”

After that, the two spent the day in the coffee shop — since they had been away for so long, there weren’t many customers, so they were quite leisurely.

During this time, Long Ling used Su Muluo’s phone to look up many tourist attractions. After discussing for a while, they finally decided to visit Song City, a picturesque place with lots of delicious food.

Before this trip, Su Muluo planned to talk to Qiansui in advance, letting him know that he didn’t need to help them open the shop and could go play by himself.

Of course, before departure, luggage needed to be prepared, so the two went to the supermarket on their way home and bought a lot of snacks and travel supplies — they didn’t need suitcases because among the gifts sent by the Bureau of Extraordinary Beings before, there happened to be storage bags and other instruments.

When they got home, Su Muluo and Long Ling together sorted out and put away the things they needed to bring, one by one, into the storage bag.

As they were organizing, Long Ling suddenly seemed to remember something and said, “Phoenix, could I borrow your phone for a moment?”

Su Muluo passed over his phone and asked, “What do you need it for?”

Long Ling didn’t answer but silently took the phone and left the room—after a while, he returned without saying a word.

Su Muluo: “?”

Surely something is amiss!
