Until dinner time, Zhan Xiusong could not appear in front of Zhan Weiyang. As long as he appeared, Zhan Weiyang would stare at him with a sad and accusing look.

At first, Zhan Xiusong could still look back at him, but after a long time, he couldn’t stand it and could only pretend not to see him.

When the family sat down to eat dinner, Zhan Xiusong had to change seats with Auntie Luo and sit at a side angle where Zhan Weiyang couldn’t look directly at him so that he felt a little more comfortable.

Zhan Pengcheng noticed something was wrong, and he asked, “What’s wrong? Yangyang and Songsong are having a quarrel?”

No one answered him at the table.

Zhan Pengcheng had to say, “You guys are in high school; why are you still acting like a child? You both are brothers; why make such a big deal out of it?” After that, he deliberately said to Zhan Weiyang in a gentle and flattering tone, “Right?”

       Zhan Weiyang still didn’t speak.

At this time, Grandma said, “It must be Songsong who bullied Yangyang. Songsong, don’t bully Yangyang!”

Zhan Xiusong was immediately dissatisfied, “Grandma, you are too unfair”

Grandma said, “Yangyang is the best-behaved, never causing trouble. It’s you who’s mischievous and causing trouble at home. You’re so big now, yet you still bully Yangyang gege.”

Zhan Xiusong put down his chopsticks and said in a muffled voice, “I don’t want to eat anymore.” Then he stood up and walked out of the dining room.

Zhan Pengcheng hurriedly called him, “Xiusong! Xiusong!”

Zhan Xiusong did not respond and went upstairs directly.

Zhan Pengcheng had to say to Zhan Weiguang, “You go and persuade him to come down to eat.”

Zhan Weiguang put down his chopsticks, stood up with a cold face and walked towards the stairs.

Afterwards, Zhan Pengcheng said to his grandmother, “Mom, why do you say that about Xiusong? He is still a child, and it’s not often that he comes to play.”

Grandma, on the other hand, looked angry and said, “I will call his father and scold him later.”

Zhan Pengcheng shook his head helplessly and turned to Pei Qing, “What happened?”

Pei Qing said, “Xiu Song stepped on Weiyang’s flower pot, and the two of them had a quarrel.”

Zhan Pengcheng looked at Zhan Weiyang, “It’s not a big deal. My Yangyang is the most sensible. He doesn’t argue with his younger brother. Dad will buy you a flowerpot, okay? How many do you want?”

Zhan Weiyang lowered his head and whispered in a muffled voice, “I just want my flower pot.”

Zhan Pengcheng didn’t hear what he said clearly, and reached out to rub his head, “Yangyang is the best.”

Pei Qing’s mobile phone suddenly rang at this time. He took it out of his bag and answered it. After listening quietly for a while, he said, “Yes, I’ll be there right away.” Then he hung up the phone and looked up at Zhan Pengcheng said, “I’m going to pick up a parcel.”

Zhan Weiyang raised his head and said, “I’ll go too.”

Zhan Pengcheng quickly stopped Zhan Weiyang and said, “Eat your meal first.”

Zhan Weiyang had already stood up. He said, “No, I’m going to pick up a parcel with Qing ge.” After that, he trotted out of the dining room behind Pei Qing.

Zhan Pengcheng raised his hand and rubbed his forehead. He couldn’t help but sigh.

That afternoon, Pei Qing found an online store selling professional ceramic repair glue in the city. He paid extra money and asked the owner to ship the goods immediately. Only then could he receive them during dinner.

They arrived at the neighbourhood’s express delivery point, and when Pei Qing took the package from the courier, Zhan Weiyang looked closer, raised his head and asked him, “Are you going to fix my flowerpot with that?”

Pei Qing smiled and said, “I’m going to fix your flowerpot with this.”

Zhan Weiyang was very happy, “That’s great.”

When they returned home, Zhan Weiyang’s mood had become noticeably better. He walked the short distance from the living room to the dining room and kept talking to Pei Qing with a smile.

When they sat down, Zhan Pengcheng asked him, “Is Yangyang no longer angry?”

Zhan Weiyang didn’t see Zhan Xiusong, just smiled at Pei Qing and said, “En.”

Zhan Weiguang also came back. He couldn’t call Zhan Xiusong back for dinner, so he came down and said, “Let him be. Anyway, skipping a meal won’t make him lose weight.”

Zhan Pengcheng felt a little headache, so he had to say, “You guys eat first, and we’ll talk after you finish eating.”

After dinner, Pei Qing and Zhan Weiyang squatted on the second-floor balcony, preparing to repair the flower pots with the tools they bought. It was not dark yet; Pei Qing opened the instruction manual in the box and read it carefully.

Zhan Weiyang squatted beside him and leaned in to read it together.

Zhan Pengcheng went up to the second floor and went to Zhan Weiyang’s room to find Zhan Xiusong first, asking him if he had eaten enough and whether he wanted to go downstairs to ask Auntie Luo to cook him a bowl of noodles. After being rejected, he came out of the room and turned around to see the two of them squatting on the balcony.

He walked over, stood behind Pei Qing, and looked for a while, then bent down and reached out to lift the flower pot that had been broken into two halves.

Zhan Weiyang saw it and hurriedly said, “Dad, don’t touch it.”

Zhan Pengcheng put the flower pot down and said, “There is no need to repair this one. Don’t you want to buy another one?”

Zhan Weiyang had already lowered his head and leaned close to Pei Qing, looking at it attentively, and said at the same time, “No.”

Zhan Pengcheng walked around on the balcony with his hands behind his back and found that no one had paid attention to him. So he had to turn around, leave the balcony and go back to his room.

The repair glue was not difficult to use, but Pei Qing was worried that the flower pots were too heavy and would not bond well if they were only glued with it.

He raised his head and looked at Zhan Weiyang.

Zhan Weiyang also looked at him strangely and asked, “What’s the matter?”

Pei Qing said, “If I fix the flower pot, you may not be able to squat inside it in the future.”

       Zhan Weiyang was surprised, “Why?”

Pei Qing folded the instruction manual in his hand and gently knocked it on top of Zhan Weiyang’s head, “I’m afraid you will crush it again.”

Zhan Weiyang was still surprised and said, “It didn’t crack before.”

Pei Qing knocked again, “It wasn’t cracked before, but now it’s patched with glue.” After a short pause, he asked Zhan Weiyang, “Do you want to mend it or buy a new one?”

       Zhan Weiyang looked tangled.

Pei Qing said, “Hurry up and decide, three, two, one–“

Zhan Weiyang said hurriedly, “It needs to be fixed!”

Pei Qing smiled and said, “Come on then.”

It got dark before they knew it. They turned on the light above the balcony door and applied repair glue to mend the broken section of the flowerpot under the dim light. It was originally a simple job, but because the flowerpot was large, it added a lot of work. Pei Qing was also worried that the glue would dry too quickly, so he was somewhat anxious. Finally, after finally glueing the two pieces of the flowerpot together, they squatted down and watched for a while.

Zhan Weiyang reached out to touch it.

Pei Qing grabbed his hand and pulled it back, saying, “Don’t touch it. The glue hasn’t dried yet.”

Zhan Weiyang said nervously, “Okay.” He retracted his hand between his thigh and upper body and pressed it down.

“Will it be okay?” he asked Pei Qing.

Pei Qing picked up the things that were thrown on the ground, put the remaining repair glue into the express carton, and said, “It will be fine. Just leave it here and not touch it in the future.”

Zhan Weiyang said, “But I want to grow inside it in the future.”

       Pei Qing looked at him.

Zhan Weiyang suddenly felt embarrassed. Pei Qing had clearly said that he could not squat in it again after the repair, and he had chosen to repair it instead of buying a new one, but now he had no other choice. He had to take root and sprout in it. He whispered, “I don’t know what to do either, and I’m worried my roots might damage it.”

He thought his roots would grow and spread in the soil and maybe push into the original crack of the flowerpot and push it open.

Pei Qing couldn’t help but sigh softly. He squatted for too long, changed his posture and sat on the ground, stretched his long legs a little, pressed his hands under his knees, and said, “Your roots, huh.”

Zhan Weiyang nodded and followed suit, sitting on the ground and sneaking close to Pei Qing’s side.

Pei Qing said, “Then I’ll dig you out and keep you with me, okay?”

Zhan Weiyang was stunned for a moment. He looked up at Pei Qing’s profile and whispered, “Ah?”

Pei Qing said, “Or what do you say?”

Zhan Weiyang said, “I will dirty your clothes.”

       “Why would it get dirty?”

       “There’s soil.”

“Wash it, and it will be gone.”

       “I’ll die without soil, won’t I?”

       “No.”

Zhan Weiyang didn’t understand, “But don’t all trees grow in the soil?”

Pei Qing said, “But no one is going to turn into a fortune tree. You’re not an ordinary fortune tree either, and you don’t necessarily need soil, do you?”

Zhan Weiyang thought for a while and denied it, “No, I’m just an ordinary fortune tree.”

Pei Qing couldn’t help laughing and asked him, “Why?”

Zhan Weiyang looked very serious, “No reason, I’m really an ordinary fortune tree.”

Pei Qing asked, “Then are you not a good-looking fortune tree?”

Zhan Weiyang smiled but didn’t answer. He reached out and gently placed his hand on the edge of the flowerpot and said, “I’ve tried my best to save you; if you crack by me in the future, I’ll just have to get another flower pot, but I’ll always remember you.” After that, he lowered his head and kissed the flowerpot.
