I think another less explicitly discussed reason for families wanting kids is so that there’s someone to take care of the elderly and occasionally keep them company once the people they know have passed. For example, like what the three brothers are doing for the mother. Of course, this is traditionally; now many elderly just get tossed into a nursing home once they can’t live on their own.
