Chapter 84 – Master, I'm back

Chapter 84 (Extra 7)

The rain started falling in the mountains.

The fine drizzle wove a curtain, linking the quiet valley, undulating hills, and verdant trees into a picturesque scene.

Birds took flight, and beasts ran swiftly.

A yellow tiger with dark stripes suddenly leapt from the withered leaves, its body drawing powerful, agile, and sharp lines in mid-air.

It caught two stray mountain birds, and with the hunt complete, it carried the birds in its mouth, moving like the wind through the rain curtain, disappearing into a cave obscured by wild grass.

The cave must have been filled with the tiger’s scent, as no other birds or beasts dared to seek shelter there, even in the rain.

The tiger skillfully killed the birds and ate their meat.

Then it sat on the ground, licking its fur dry from the rain, meticulously grooming itself before falling asleep to the sound of the gentle rain.

On a stone platform in the cave lay a grayish-brown relic. As night fell, the relic emitted a faint silver glow, as if absorbing the essence of the sun and moon to cultivate.

At midnight, the tiger was startled awake by a thunderclap. It instinctively turned to look at the relic.

Seeing that the relic was unharmed, the tiger lay down again, its eyelids drooping, half asleep and half awake.

If the relic wished to transform into human form, it would need at least ten years.

Now, it has only been three years.

The tiger dreamed of its days in the thirty-three heavens.

Back then, it wasn’t a tiger; it was an Immortal revered by all.

That night, in the spacious Immortal hall, a cold wind blew through the corridors as the Immortal sat cross-legged on a grass mat, eyes closed, chanting sutras.

A black panther stealthily entered the hall, extending its warm, wet tongue to lick the Immortal’s cheek.

The fine barbs on the tongue pricked the skin, sending shivers and tingles through it, like countless tiny ants crawling into his bones.

The panther thought it had hidden well, but its aura had long betrayed its identity. Its tongue brushed over the Immortal’s robe, parting the collar. The cold night wind carried a chill, grazing the fragile body, but the skin touched by the panther’s tongue burned hot.

The fire-carrying ants inside devoured and gnawed at him inch by inch. For a moment, the Immortal statue closed its eyes. The Immortal sitting cross-legged on the mat wavered in his concentration.

In that instant, his practice was broken, never to recover.

But in this dream, the Immortal broke through the panther’s enchantment. Upon opening his eyes, instead of shattering the panther’s illusion with a palm strike, he looked calmly at it.

It was as if he was facing his own desires.

A red thread tied to the Immortal’s wrist connected to the panther’s paw.

From the moment they met in the forest tens of thousands of years ago, the dying tiger and the dying Immortal’s fate had been intertwined.

Love or hate, resentment or infatuation.

The Immortal slowly reached out, touching the panther’s illusion.

The illusion gradually dissolved before his eyes, turning into a brilliant light, blossoming in his vision.

The tiger woke up with a start, lifting its head. Its sharp gaze swept through the dim morning light, seeing the scene outside the cave through the branches.

The rain had stopped.

The tiger sat up and then noticed the relic that had been on the stone platform was now in its lap. It held the relic, silently examining it.

After being reborn, the tiger had nearly lost all its cultivation and couldn’t sense the relic’s condition. It didn’t know how far along the relic’s cultivation was, but it had felt recently that the relic was progressing rapidly, even coming to its lap.

It placed the relic back on the stone platform, stood up, shook its fur, and walked out of the cave. The forest, washed clean by the rain, was vibrant and colorful.

The faint sounds of birds chirping could be heard.

The tiger looked up and roared, startling a flock of birds in the valley. It leapt through the valley, its powerful claws quickly catching stray birds and rabbits, snapping their necks with its jaws.

In this life, it no longer pursued compassion, abandoning its roots of wisdom to live as an ordinary tiger.

However, it did not regret being an Immortal.

Yet, after its heart wavered, it was no longer worthy of receiving the worship of countless disciples in the thirty-three heavens.

One thought creates a world, and one thought creates hell.

After eating its fill, the tiger went to a stream in the valley to drink. It sensed something amiss, as the mountain wind carried a strange beast’s scent. Turning, it saw a large male tiger.

Behind the male tiger stood a female tiger, clearly in heat, staring intently at the drinking tiger.

The male tiger, seeing this, became jealous and approached for a fight.

The male tiger advanced step by step, growling menacingly.

The tiger did not want to fight and had no interest in the female. As it turned to leave, the male tiger, thinking it was being looked down upon, suddenly lunged at it.

The tiger was pinned down, and the male tiger’s sharp teeth aimed for its neck to deliver a fatal bite. It quickly extended its paw to block, its right forepaw getting bitten by the male tiger’s sharp teeth.

It couldn’t help but let out a low growl, its black eyes gradually turning blood-red. Suddenly, it flipped over, pinning the male tiger to the ground with overwhelming strength, biting its cheek and clawing its chest.

The male tiger let out a pained hiss as it was struck hard twice by Jiaheng. The blows left the male tiger dazed.

However, after exacting his revenge, Jiaheng didn’t deliver a fatal blow but leapt away from the scene.

Behind him, the female tiger made a strange noise, wanting to follow him, but was stopped by the defeated male tiger.

Jiaheng ignored the two tigers, enduring the pain in his right foreleg as he returned to the cave.

Now in his tiger form, it was inconvenient to treat the wound, so he simply cleaned it and fell asleep on a straw pile.

In a half-asleep state, the tiger sensed a white light flashing before his eyes, but he was so exhausted that he couldn’t lift his heavy eyelids.

His injured paw was held by someone. Though no words were spoken, the gentle and slow actions conveyed a sense of concern and tenderness.

The person touched the wound lightly, doing something that quickly relieved the pain.

Warmth spread over the wound, surprising the tiger, who wanted to wake up but was too tired. His furry head was gently cradled in the person’s arms.

Feeling comfortable, the tiger didn’t struggle, his breathing soon becoming steady.

The next morning, upon waking, the tiger recalled the dreamlike scene from the previous night. He looked around cautiously but saw nothing unusual.

Was it just his imagination?

Lowering his head, he saw that the previously torn wound on his right forepaw was now neatly stitched together, leaving only a faint scar.

The wound had healed too quickly.

Swallowing his surprise, the tiger stood up, his gaze falling on the relic on the stone platform.

The relic lay there as usual, emitting a faint silver glow.

The tiger walked over to the relic, his black and yellow eyes staring at it without any discernible emotion. After a while, he walked out of the cave.

Unexpectedly, as soon as he stepped out, he saw the female tiger from yesterday in heat.

The female tiger wagged her tail, the black stripes on her yellow and white fur, her eyes carrying a unique tiger’s haughty expression.

Half fawning, half testing, she approached Jiaheng.

The scent of a female in heat naturally enticed the newly awakened male tiger.

Jiaheng stood still, his gaze unchanged, allowing the female tiger to approach him.

She first sniffed Jiaheng’s scent, detecting a faint smell of blood. Despite his injury, Jiaheng stood tall and strong, like a king overlooking the valley.

At first sight, the female tiger had fallen in love with Jiaheng.

Unfortunately, the male tiger had been a constant nuisance, unwilling to leave her side despite her pleas. After Jiaheng’s beating yesterday, the male tiger had sulked in his nest, allowing the female tiger to follow Jiaheng’s scent and find him.

The female tiger nudged her head close to Jiaheng’s cheek, rubbing against him. Seeing no rejection from Jiaheng, she assumed he accepted her advances.

Happily, she wagged her tail, gently nibbling at the soft fur on Jiaheng’s face, flirting, when suddenly she stopped, sensing something amiss. Her eyes filled with caution, alertness, and even fear as she looked behind Jiaheng.

Behind Jiaheng was the pitch-dark cave.

From the cave emerged a shadowy figure, standing tall and slim, with an eerie ghostly presence.

Stepping out of the shadows, the figure’s appearance became clear.

His face was unnaturally pale, except for his eyes and brows. His black, sinister eyes were like those of a demon from hell, glaring at the female tiger with a murderous intent.

The female tiger, inexplicably frightened, let out an uncontrollable roar.

Finally finding a suitable mate, only to be interrupted by this unwelcome guest, the female tiger didn’t want to flee but felt an overwhelming fear upon meeting his gaze.

Sometimes, a mere look can determine the outcome.

Seeing the female tiger frozen in place, the man grinned, revealing a horrifying smile.

Terrified, the female tiger let out a scream and fled as if she had seen a ghost.

“…” Jiaheng.

Jiaheng didn’t turn around, but the moment the figure transformed, he sensed his presence. His furry face showed no expression as he stared straight ahead.

Behind him, the man finally spoke first.

“Master, I’m back.”

Chapter 83 – The majesty of the dragons

Chapter 83 (Extra 6)

Things turned out better than Si Lan imagined. Instead of taking seven days to leave the palace, it only took six and a half.

On the evening of the sixth day, Haowei received an urgent report from Yu Wudao, stating that both the Jing River and the East Sea had been disturbed by the demon clans.

The Qing Xiaoyao clan of the Jing River, forced to live in the marshlands by the demons, had their clan leader directly flayed and hung on the shore to dry like shrimp. The Dragon King of the East Sea had his tail severed, and several generals from the East Sea were beaten within an inch of their lives.

Haowei hadn’t expected Quze to act so swiftly.

The Dragon King of the East Sea was one of the Four Sea Dragon Kings and a prominent figure among the aquatic beings, holding a high position in the Heavenly Realm.

Now, with the Dragon King of the East Sea humiliated in this manner, if he didn’t step forward to seek justice, it might lead to dissatisfaction among the officials of the Heavenly Realm.

But Haowei had previously promised Si Lan not to intervene in the East Sea…

His silence made Si Lan mistakenly think he was considering it. Si Lan feared he would go after Quze, so he pondered briefly and decided to employ the “handsome man strategy.”

He stretched out his foot—his toes were as tender and white as spring onions—and slid it along Haowei’s spine. Haowei withdrew his gaze and turned to look at Si Lan on the bed.

In the twilight of the Ninth Heaven, as the light dimmed, shadows obscured Haowei’s eyes, concealing his emotions. His breath visibly hitched.

With one hand supporting his head and the other poking Haowei’s arm, half taunting and half teasing, Si Lan said, “Already giving up so soon?”

Haowei’s lips twitched slightly, emitting a muffled chuckle. Leaning forward, he seemed to descend like layers of cumulus clouds pressing down, squeezing the air thin.

Haowei grabbed Si Lan’s ankle; the warmth of his palm was scorching. His fingers slowly moved up from Si Lan’s ankle.

“Who said we should stop just now? Why are you lying on me?”

Though Si Lan had cried several times before, ending up as a “wild chicken” in the end, which made him uncomfortable, he reluctantly let Si Lan go for the time being.

Just as he was catching his breath, Si Lan came challenging him again.

Si Lan grasped his rebellious hand, placing it on Haowei’s chest. With both hands hooking around Haowei’s nape, he lightly kissed the corner of Haowei’s lips, his voice tinged with a hint of coquettishness. “Now I’ve rested.”

“Sure about that?” Haowei’s voice softened a few degrees, his trailing question inexplicably making Si Lan’s heart race.

Si Lan felt intimidated but pretended to be relaxed as he deflected, “Hmm… I…”

Before he could finish his sentence, Haowei silenced him with a kiss.

For the sake of his armless disciple, he didn’t mind sacrificing his dignity.

Tsk tsk.

Haowei found it rather amusing. Therefore, he deliberately increased the strength in his hand, causing Si Lan to lie on the mandarin duck pillow, his face and expression covered, vaguely discernible from the protruding veins on his side face and the degree of fluctuation in his Adam’s apple, indicating that he endured until his expression became ferocious and his spirit was on the verge of collapse.

Help!

Why does this world have creatures like dragons?

One is tired, and there’s another.

They say there’s no land that can’t be cultivated, only oxen who die from overwork.

But if this ox is two-headed, the land has already been overworked.

Si Lan felt like he was the overworked land, unable to bear it anymore.

In the end, he played dead, withdrew his consciousness, and avoided the torment. During the period of withdrawing his consciousness, he incidentally returned to the demon realm to check on Quze’s situation.

But soon Haowei noticed his consciousness had left his body.

He whispered threateningly in Si Lan’s ear, “Recently, the Nine Heavens’ Biwu Branch has grown new branches. Your tender white body would fit perfectly hanging there.”

Still unmoved, Si Lan pretended not to hear him.

Haowei continued, “What would we do hanging there? Why not swing on a swing and intertwine our necks? I heard the Phoenix clan likes to nest in Biwu while intertwining.”

Si Lan’s consciousness instantly returned to his body, angrily retorting, “Shameless.”

Haowei stifled a laugh, “How am I shameless? Wasn’t it you who provoked me first?”

Unable to argue with him, feeling guilty, Si Lan changed the subject, “I miss the children. Shall we go get them?”

“The Goddess Mother said they should stay for another half month, so the time isn’t up yet.”

“…”

Seeing there was no way out, Si Lan couldn’t help but sigh.

Why, these past few days, did Haowei show no signs of boredom or fatigue and still seemed so enthusiastic? Could it be because of the position, causing their sensory experiences to differ?

After hesitating for a while, Si Lan leaned close to Haowei’s ear, revealing his thoughts.

Haowei’s face stiffened, his eyes tensing at the corners, and he asserted without question, “Don’t even think about it.”

He patted Si Lan’s head heavily, as if questioning what Si Lan’s little brain was thinking about every day. The reason for the extended time was related to their races.

Once dragons enter mating season, it can last from three days to a month, so he was already considered a restrained male dragon.

As they were conversing, outside the palace, the voice of the celestial servant was heard.

In recent days, celestial servants did not dare to approach the palace, and now that there was an emergency, they had found their way inside.

“Your Majesty, the disciple of the Goddess Empress, Quze, is seeking forgiveness outside the Palace of Jade Clear.”

“Oh?” Haowei glanced at Si Lan, suspecting that Quze’s act of forgiveness was a directive from Si Lan.

After all, it’s better to come and ask for forgiveness than to wait to be questioned and accused.

It seems Si Lan, while pretending to deal with the corpse, also withdrew his consciousness to find Quze. Tsk tsk, such indecisiveness deserves punishment.

Haowei took out the gift the celestial lords sent when he and Si Lan formed their bond, finding a thick, long black jade ruyi scepter.

Si Lan widened his eyes, wanting to stop Haowei, but the ruyi scepter seemed alive and couldn’t be pulled out at all.

Si Lan blushed in embarrassment; this was their first time playing like this as an old married couple.

Haowei adjusted his clothes, looking at him calmly, pretending to be angry: “Tidy yourself up and come with me to see Quze.”

  ”…” Si Lan.

He understood. This troublemaker was deliberately getting back at him.

He endured the discomfort and accompanied Haowei to see Quze.

Quze had stripped his upper clothes, a bundle of thorns on his back, kneeling straight on the ground. His black iron arm protruded abruptly, starkly contrasting against his fair and muscular body.

Seeing him like this, Haowei knew his act of penitence was false, merely showing off his severed arm to gain sympathy.

This scheme was probably Si Lan’s idea.

Haowei sat coldly on the high seat. Si Lan originally intended to stand aside but was pulled by Haowei to sit beside him.

Haowei said, “Quze, you thought coming to the Heavenly Realm to make amends after the incident with Jinghe and East Sea would suffice?”

”I accept any punishment,” Quze said slowly.

On the high seat, Si Lan’s expression faltered. He had not instructed Quze to respond this way; he wanted Quze to explain everything and perhaps shed a few tears.

Haowei was not swayed by tough talk; maybe he wouldn’t say anything.

As a result, Quze now just stood there foolishly without explanation.

  This blockheaded disciple!

Haowei glanced at Si Lan and continued, “Considering you did not commit murder but sought vengeance for your clan, I see your intentions. Therefore, you will be confined to Zhuyun Peak for ten years as punishment.”

This penalty was tantamount to no punishment at all.

Quze looked up at Haowei, surprise fleeting in his eyes. Clearly, he hadn’t expected Haowei not to punish him despite his lack of plea. His gaze shifted to Si Lan, understanding that Si Lan might have advocated for him in secret.

He nodded in acknowledgment and left Yuqing Palace.

As he left, he turned back, wanting to speak to Si Lan, only to see Haowei embracing Si Lan tightly on the high seat. Haowei’s hand slipped under Si Lan’s robe.

Quze froze for a moment. In the next instant, the doors slammed shut, blocking his view.

Standing outside, his ears slowly reddened. No wonder Si Lan looked so worn out and fragile when communicating with him through spiritual senses.

”You promised me that you wouldn’t meddle in the East Sea affair, yet you punished my disciple.” Si Lan took advantage of the situation.

Haowei adopted Si Lan’s knack for being difficult: “I promised not to meddle in the East Sea affair. I’m currently dealing with your disciple. If he hadn’t come to make amends, it wouldn’t concern me.”

  ”…” Si Lan.

So by letting Quze make amends, he inadvertently harmed Quze?

Si Lan couldn’t help but grind his teeth, standing up to leave, only to be grabbed by Haowei’s elbow.

Haowei looked at the water stains left on his leg, his voice slightly hoarse: “You leaked.”

  ”…” Si Lan.

After another intimate moment on the high seat, Haowei finally let him go.

Finally, biting his neck, Haowei’s voice carried a hint of anger: “I already promised not to intervene in this matter. Yet you had Quze come to the Heavenly Realm to make amends because you don’t trust me.”

He felt he would hold Quze accountable in the future, so he decided to preemptively have Quze apologize by coming here.

Haowei was genuinely a bit upset, otherwise he wouldn’t have taken out the ruyi scepter just now.

Si Lan pursed his lips, his voice breaking: “Uh, it’s not that I don’t trust you, I just don’t want you to bear too much pressure.” If he didn’t deal with Quze and didn’t seek “justice” for the East Sea, the Heavenly Realm would pressure him.

Now that Quze has come to the Heavenly Realm so publicly to make amends, punishing Quze was also a way to protect his reputation.

He neither wanted Quze to be severely punished nor did he want him to bear the title of “incompetent ruler”.

Haowei thought he was calculating everything for Quze’s sake, realizing Si Lan also cared about him. His lips curved slightly upwards, but he tried to maintain his composure: “You speak so persuasively, I can’t always tell what’s true.”

Si Lan hugged his waist, burying his head in his chest, full of drowsiness: “Nonsense, I’ve always been straightforward. It’s actually you who used two pseudonyms when we first met.” This made Si Lan think carefully each time he spoke to Haowei, fearful of calling him by the wrong name.

Haowei pursed his lips and explained, “At that time, my body fluctuated due to divine injuries, sometimes growing larger, sometimes smaller, so I had to use a pseudonym to deceive you.”

Si Lan snorted but didn’t say anything more, his breathing gradually calming down.

Haowei turned his head and saw Si Lan struggling to keep his eyelids from closing. He stopped talking and gently stroked Si Lan’s back.

Suddenly remembering something, Haowei leaned close to Si Lan’s ear and softly called out, “Sigan.”

Si Lan, who was almost asleep, suddenly heard this and widened his eyes, looking at Haowei strangely.

Haowei explained, “I heard it’s your childhood nickname, Sigan.”

He repeated “Sigan” again, causing Si Lan’s scalp to tingle. “Who told you my nickname? No, who told you this was my nickname?”

These three words were a sore spot for him.

“It was Xie Li.” When Haowei last visited the Demon Realm and didn’t bring candy for Xie Li, he wasn’t pleased. Then Xie Li told Haowei that Si Lan’s childhood nickname was Sigan.

Si Lan loves it when others call him by his nickname.

Thus, it was during tender moments that Haowei would utter Si Guoyi’s name.

 ”…” Si Lan.

Si Lan’s lips twitched slightly. He hadn’t expected Xiao Xie to start teasing people now.

Truly, good habits don’t learn, but bad ones do.

At this moment, far away on the Yun Peak, Xiao Xie, who was keeping Quze company while he was under house arrest, inexplicably sneezed.

”I heard from Xiao Xie that you only allow close people to call you by this name. You never told me before. Did you think I didn’t deserve to call you that?” Haowei’s voice softened, his face showing a hint of grievance, though his large hands weren’t honest as they rested on Si Lan’s waist.

He suddenly understood whose tea-scented air he had inherited.

”No, I…” He looked into Haowei’s eyes and felt that if he said anything harsh, the other might tear up. So, he compromised, “You can only call me that when we’re alone.”

A hint of cunning flashed through Haowei’s eyes. “Alright, Si Guoyi.”

”…” Si Lan couldn’t help but clench his fists.

For the first time, a desire arose in his heart to clean up his act!

He had slept in the palace for several days before recovering. During these days, he had been surrounded by “Si Guoyi,” from initial embarrassment to now accepting it calmly.

Si Guoyi was just Si Guoyi.

In this world, besides him, no one else knew what Si Guoyi meant.

A few days later, he and Haowei rode in a carriage to Lingxiao Palace to pick up the child.

Halfway there, passing by somewhere, they faintly heard a familiar voice.

Si Lan lifted the curtain and saw in the undulating lines of the mountains and fields, a black figure swiftly moving like a bean, with a tiger running swiftly ahead of it.

Si Lan instructed the carriage to stop, and he heard the complaining voice of the black figure pierce through the sky like wind and thunder into his ears.

“I said you ignored me, then I said that I would kiss you until you spoke to me.” The black figure chased the tiger, threatening as he ran.

Upon hearing this, the tiger paused momentarily and then ran even faster.

In the fields full of blooming wildflowers, one person and one tiger, and one world.

Si Lan counted on his fingers, only three years.

Yuwuxia actually achieved human form again in three years.

Truly the other side of the Heavenly Way.

Of course, it might also be impatient to achieve human form, and wanted to achieve the true fruit with the Immortal Jiaheng.

 Tsk tsk.

Haowei also followed Si Lan’s gaze and saw the man and the tiger. He closed the curtain, blocking Si Lan’s view.

 “It’s all over now.”

 “Yeah.”

 Everything is over.

Whether it’s the tiger becoming an Immortal, the Immortal becoming a demon, or all living beings, we must look forward and embrace a new life.

Chapter 82 – The contradictions of a cub

Chapter 82 (Extra 5)

After their transformation, the four little pups could also speak.

Soft, murmuring voices filled the air, and from all directions came cries of “Daddy,” melting Si Lan’s heart. A smile as warm as spring blossoms spread across his face, uninterrupted and continuous.

He felt like the happiest person in the world, having completely forgotten his initial reluctance and resistance to having children.

Now, his favorite thing to do was bury his head in the four babies’ bodies, gently sniffing and savoring the faint milky fragrance that surrounded them.

It smelled so good, so captivating.

However, joy came with its share of pain.

The four babies competed for his attention, each not giving in to the other. Every time he appeared, just after calling out “babies,” the four little bundles would already be fighting over who he would hold first, who he would kiss first.

“…”

He finally understood what it meant when people said, “One word can cause four people to be jealous and fight to the point of bloodshed.”

Eventually, he had to establish a rule: they would decide using rock-paper-scissors, whoever won got to be held first. So every time he appeared, he had to watch the four babies play rock-paper-scissors first, before he could reach out to pick them up.

Balancing things was really tricky.

Especially when there were four to balance.

One day, Si Lan finally found the opportunity to be alone with two of the little dragon pups and asked them about their fights with Xiao Yujia.

Xiao Zhen remained silent.

Xiao Kan pouted, grabbing Si Lan’s clothes, and angrily said, “It’s because those two always bully me and my brother, even when we were in Dad’s belly.”

Si Lan: “Why do they bully you?”

“They think my brother and I look weird and ugly.”

Xiao Zhen nodded in agreement, looking sad.

When they were still eggs, they couldn’t talk, but they had a telepathic connection, and could convey their thoughts to each other through their minds.

At that time, Xiao Xun and Xiao Dui were already incompatible with them, always squeezing them. On the day they were born, they were kicked out ahead of time by Xiao Xun and Xiao Dui.

Si Lan was surprised. He had never thought that the conflict between the little dragon pups and Xiao Yujia was actually due to their different appearances.

“They say my brother and I are shameless and always naked.” Xiao Kan wrinkled his nose and said innocently, “But we clearly have scales on us.”

Si Lan couldn’t help but bow his head, touching Xiao Kan’s head gently and comforting him: “Yes, Xiao Zhen and Xiao Kan are not shameless at all. Next time I’ll talk to them. Don’t let them say that to you.”

“Okay, Dad, hug…” Xiao Kan coquettishly held Si Lan’s thigh, while Xiao Zhen held the other. Si Lan seemed to be carrying two oil drums, so he couldn’t walk.

He was half helpless and half indulgent as he looked at the two children. He recalled what Haowei said last night. The godmother wanted to take the four babies to the Palace of the Sky.

He was reluctant at first, but now he felt that he might send them to exercise. Otherwise, they would be tied to his legs every day and grow up to be Daddy’s boys and Daddy’s daughters.

After talking to the little dragon pups, Si Lan went to Xiao Xun and Xiao Dui again. Xiao Xun and Xiao Dui were combing each other’s hair at the moment, with a deep sisterly love.

Seeing him, the two immediately took human form, each hugging Si Lan’s arm and rubbing their heads against Si Lan’s arm.

Si Lan’s heart softened. He reached out and touched the heads of the two little girls, giving them some candies.

He didn’t require them to drink the immortal dew or follow phoenix habits. He just reminded them that besides him and Haowei, they couldn’t randomly reveal themselves to others.

“Xiao Xun, Xiao Dui, why do you always fight with Xiao Zhen and Xiao Kan?” Si Lan asked.

Xiao Xun, who was eating candy, put down the candy paper. Her bright black eyes looked at Si Lan with a little water, and she pulled Si Lan’s sleeves: “Daddy, did my brother say something?”

“No…”

“Wu, Dad, it’s our fault. My brother didn’t mean to bully us, and he didn’t mean to take away Xiao Kan’s nutrition and almost hurt Xiao Kan. Wu, Dad, if you blame me, blame Xiao Kan.”

“We are sisters. We should give all the chances of living to our brother and make our brothers stronger and stronger. Sisters should suffer a little, nothing.”

Si Lan smashed his tongue, never thought that Xiao Xun, who has always been gentle and obedient, would say so much, the tone was strange, full of tea.

At this time, Xiao Dui snorted: “Dad, what did the two little dragons say in front of you? I think they deserve it.”

“…” Si Lan.

“Xiao Dui, don’t say that. Whether my brother beats us or scolds us, it’s because we sisters did something wrong.” Xiao Xun pulled Xiao Dui’s sleeves.

“…” Si Lan.

Si Lan couldn’t help but persuade him: “Xiao Zhen and Xiao Kan didn’t say anything. Dad was just curious. Why do you four always like to fight when you meet? Just now, Xiao Xun, you said that your brother almost killed Xiao Dui. What does it mean?”

Xiao Xun’s delicate eyebrows were about to wrinkle together, the corners of her eyes were red, and she looked pitiful: “In fact, Dad, this matter can’t blame our brothers. At that time, Xiao Xun and Xiao Dui formed in Dad’s belly. Xiao Dui was still small, and she was not enough nutrition. As a result, the brothers came out again and squeezed Xiao Dui into the corner and took away Xiao Dui’s nutrition. Xiao Dui almost… Almost died.”

Si Lan had never thought about it, and there was such a thing in the middle. When he felt the babies in his stomach, it was a month later, when the four eggs were formed. He didn’t know that Xiao Dui had experienced such a thing in his stomach!

Thinking about this, Xiao Xun started a fight with the two dragon eggs, looking like she was always unreasonable, but actually favoring Xiao Dui.

It may also be because of this partiality that Xiao Dui, who came out later, did not look weaker than the dragon cubs.

Si Lan bent down and gently patted Xiao Dui’s head, saying, “Brothers were probably unconscious when they were in Father’s belly. Fortunately, Xiao Dui, you had your sister to protect you. Now you’re healthy with no issues.”

Xiao Dui’s mouth curled up slightly.

Si Lan turned to pat Xiao Xun’s head and continued, “Xiao Xun, you’ve done well in protecting your sister. Earlier, Father misunderstood you, and he apologizes to you.”

Xiao Xun pouted, “Father, please don’t say that.”

“Xiao Xun, I heard from the brothers that they’ve been letting you and Xiao Dui have your way more often since they came out. They must have realized their mistakes. Shall we give them a chance?”

Xiao Xun fidgeted with her fingers, blinking her pretty eyes. “Whatever Father says is true. Xiao Xun dares not contradict.”

Si Lan sighed inwardly.

Si Lan’s lips twitched. Where did this tea-filled conversation style come from? Neither he nor Haowei were like this.

It seemed true as the ancient texts said, “Dragon breeds nine sons, each with a different personality.”

So, this matter should be blamed on Haowei.

“I heard from the brothers that you said they don’t wear clothes, just their bare bodies…”

“But they never wore clothes to begin with, just bare bodies covered in cool scales.” When Xiao Dui first crawled out of his shell and saw the true forms of the two brothers, he felt like he was seeing some ugly monsters.

They didn’t even have a single hair!

Si Lan chuckled softly at this revelation.

This was probably discrimination between species.

Xiao Xun added, “Brother also said we’re furry and black like moldy eggs. Although it hurt us to hear, Xiao Dui and I never blamed them or dared to complain to Father.”

Si Lan couldn’t help but ruffle Xiao Xun’s hair, intending to have a serious talk with her, but her peculiar remarks gave him goosebumps.

But when he met Xiao Xun’s watery eyes, his heart was instantly softened, and he couldn’t bring himself to scold her.

Unconsciously, he spoke gently, “The brothers’ words were hurtful. We shouldn’t speak like that about girls. I’ll make sure to teach them.”

Si Lan had initially come to “teach” the two little girls, but as he left, he promised to educate the two little boys instead.

At this moment, Xiao Zhen and Xiao Kan had just climbed into their newly built dragon’s nest and inexplicably shivered, causing Xiao Zhen to sneeze.

Under Si Lan’s mediation, the four children turned hostility into friendship and no longer fought incessantly. After a while, the Goddess Mother’s people came to take the four children to play at Yuqing Palace.

Si Lan felt reluctant, giving careful instructions to the four children before they boarded the carriage. He kept watching until the Heavenly Horse carrying the carriage disappeared into the floating clouds.

Haowei seemed indifferent, even a hint of relief in his expression.

Finally, those four little troublemakers were gone.

Si Lan complained, “You didn’t say anything to the children.”

Haowei reached out, lifted Si Lan around the waist, and carried him into the room. Warmth radiated from his body as if his internal fire was spreading out.

Si Lan instinctively hugged Haowei’s neck, staring at him with wide eyes.

Haowei said calmly, “There’s no need to worry about the children. They’ll be happier with the Goddess Mother than at Yuqing Palace.”

Si Lan glanced around; luckily, there were no celestial servants nearby.

“What are you doing? Put me down.”

“I can’t wait any longer.”

He had indeed waited too long. After finally sending the children away, he didn’t want to wait any longer.

As soon as the two entered the room, Si Lan felt a strong pressure envelop him. Turning around, he saw that the person holding him had transformed into a dragon.

The enormous dragon wrapped around him, slowly undoing his clothes.

“Haowei…”

Si Lan called out softly, his voice becoming gentle as he too revealed his true form. Golden feathers were pressed against the dragon scales, casting a golden hue.

They rarely engaged in this form of intimacy because it usually required at least three days of rest afterward.

Si Lan was about to speak when his voice was muffled, and his hands were firmly held above his head as Haowei murmured beside his ear.

“Si Lan, you smell so good.”

Especially after giving birth, Si Lan’s body became even more fragrant, as if every bone seam was sprinkled with spices, exuding a mesmerizing scent drop by drop.

Haowei greedily savored every inch of fragrance on Si Lan’s body.

Si Lan’s thoughts quickly became muddled, entangled in the desire woven by Haowei.

Dazed, Si Lan heard Haowei ask, “You haven’t been eating Childbearing fruits again, have you?”

Si Lan: “…”

It seemed that having these four children had left some shadows for Haowei, so he needed to make sure.

It’s clear he really doesn’t want children now.

Si Lan suppressed a smile. “No.”

After a pause, Si Lan added, “But I really want a little dragon daughter.”

His original idea was one dragon son, one dragon daughter, one Yujia son, and one Yujia daughter, but it didn’t turn out as he envisioned.

He felt having a little dragon daughter would be quite interesting too.

Haowei coolly responded, “No, two daughters are enough.”

Si Lan fell silent, choosing not to speak further. Haowei flipped him over again, and he found himself lying face down on the soft couch, with the iridescent feathers on his tail swept up to the back of his neck by Haowei.

After a moment, Si Lan felt like his bones were about to dissolve. He lifted his head and saw feathers from his body scattered everywhere.

“Stop… stop…”

“I can’t stop.”

“…Damn it.”

Si Lan gritted his teeth and uttered these words, a kiss falling on his lips. Haowei’s hoarse voice sounded in his ear, “Fine, I’m a damn fool.”

His magnetic voice, like the rustling of leaves in the wind, almost instantly made Si Lan surrender.

Unconsciously, Si Lan curled up in Haowei’s embrace, his body trembling slightly, his gaze slightly unfocused.

This damn fool.

Originally planned for three days, now it might be seven.

He suspected he would eventually perish in the Yuqing Palace. This was probably Haowei’s way of unifying the Six Realms through intricate means!

Chapter 81 – Baby becomes a cub

Chapter 81 (Extra 4)

Four little ones stacked together like a pyramid, with a small dragon at the bottom, its body pressed into a purplish hue yet still using its claws to swat at the small black-winged Yujia on top.

Black-winged Yujia wasn’t faring any better; atop it was a curled-tail little dragon, pulling its neck feathers and making it cry out in pain.

And on the curled-tail little dragon, there was a gray-winged Yujia, biting its tail and twisting its face into a grimace, emitting strange squeaks.

Seeing this, the Heavenly Emperor couple hurried forward to separate the four little ones.

These four little things looked small but were surprisingly strong; despite their efforts, they couldn’t be pulled apart. Haowei then used a immobilization spell to fix their positions, finally managing to separate them.

Si Lan arranged them by size in a row. The eldest was a small white dragon that resembled Haowei the most, the second also alike, with a slightly curled tail. The third looked almost identical to Si Lan, black-winged with black hair and a small green mark between its eyebrows. The youngest, born last, had lighter colors, discovered to be a gray Yujia rather than black.

The four little ones had different expressions, showing anger, distortion, and a desire to fight on their faces.

Si Lan couldn’t understand why they were fighting. They had fought from the womb and even in their shells. Si Lan frowned and asked coolly, “Why are you fighting?”

“Roar.”

“Squawk.”

The little dragons and Yujias opened their mouths together, emitting strange chirping sounds that were incomprehensible to them.

But judging by their expressions, each seemed to think they were in the right.

Si Lan chuckled helplessly, leaned down, and carefully inspected them to ensure none were injured before allowing Haowei to release the immobilization spell.

“If you fight again, it won’t be as simple as immobilization; you’ll be confined to a small dark room.” Seeing their puzzled looks, Si Lan added, “A small dark room is just like an eggshell, pitch black with nothing inside.”

At these words, fear flashed in the eyes of the four little ones.

The little dragons hugged each other, the Yujias did the same, and their dry eyes looked at Si Lan.

Si Lan suddenly felt like an old witch scaring children, coughed softly, and said, “Let me introduce myself first?”

“… ” Haowei gave Si Lan a sideways glance.

Is this what it’s like to be a first-time father? Introducing oneself first?

“I am the Demon Lord, your father. This one…” Si Lan reached out and pulled Haowei over, smiling, “This one is the Heavenly Emperor, also your father.”

The two little dragons glanced at each other. “Roar.”

The two Yujias spread their wings and hugged their heads. “Squawk.”

Si Lan didn’t understand what they meant, but vaguely guessed they were contemplating something. He couldn’t help but reach out and gently rub their little heads; they were full of secrets despite just being born.

Quite intriguing.

The little dragon’s touch was smooth and cool, while the Yujia’s touch was soft and warm.

They both looked adorable.

Si Lan’s eyes revealed a tenderness and fondness he didn’t realize he had. Unconsciously, he had already accepted the fact that he had these babies.

The four little ones had just come out of their shells and were still dirty. Si Lan didn’t want to leave it to others, so he and Haowei took the four babies to bathe in a wooden tub.

During this, he also checked the babies’ genders and found that the two dragons were boys and the two Yujias were girls.

Unexpectedly, the feisty Yujias were all girls.

The two Yujias were closer to Haowei, while the two dragons were closer to Si Lan, which surprised him.

Haowei seemed to favor the Yujias more, leaning over the tub, teasing the two fluffy gray Yujias.

The Yujias nibbled gently on Haowei’s fingers; his eyes softened with tender affection, as if his gentleness was melting away.

Meanwhile, the two dragons seemed “ignored” by Haowei, so Si Lan quietly bathed them. Their scales were not as hard as adults’, still tender and pinkish after soaking in warm water, looking incredibly cute.

Their horns were as small as pimples on their heads, barely visible unless you looked closely. Their bodies were tender and had a faint pink hue after being soaked, making them look adorable.

Si Lan cleaned every scale of the little dragons thoroughly, then kissed each one on their forehead.

Across from them, the two Yujias who had been playing with Haowei suddenly stopped and looked at Si Lan with melancholic eyes.

Si Lan pursed his lips and tactfully walked over, planting a kiss on each of the Yujias’ heads. But these two Yujias still seemed dissatisfied, chirping something.

Si Lan smiled helplessly, “Don’t call out; I don’t understand.”

With that said, he looked at Haowei, realizing they hadn’t named the four babies yet.

“We should give them names.”

“Yeah, you go ahead.” Haowei, abiding by male propriety, handed the naming authority to Si Lan.

Si Lan rubbed his chin and pondered, “Let’s name them in order: Zhen, Kan, Xùn, Duì.”

These four names respectively meant the eldest son, middle son, eldest daughter, and youngest daughter in the Eight Trigrams.

Haowei nodded in agreement, quite pleased. Before the four eggs hatched, Haowei had seen Si Lan reading the Book of Changes, intending to name the babies.

Si Lan chuckled, calling out each baby’s name to them. The two little dragons responded obediently, while the two Yujias squawked in a somewhat haughty manner, reluctantly accepting their names.

Si Lan turned to Haowei and said, “Xiao Long inherited your temperament but my blood essence. Xiao Yujia inherited my blood essence but your temperament.”

Haowei remained silent. Why did he have a feeling that this statement had deeper implications?

He didn’t think Xiao Yujia’s temperament was bad; a girl should be a bit delicate to avoid being bullied. Boys, on the other hand, should naturally be steady and honest.

After Si Lan finished his tasks, he felt a bit tired and rested on the couch. Meanwhile, Haowei took the four kids out to meet the immortals and demons.

These four children were not only theirs but future rulers of the Six Realms, destined for greatness from birth, attracting much attention.

Haowei cast a spell, enveloping Xiao Yujia with a protective barrier that made them look like phoenix chicks to anyone outside.

Though the babies squabbled among themselves, they behaved obediently and calmly in front of others, their little faces solemn as they were scrutinized.

It was the first time many had seen dragon and phoenix babies together, eliciting both surprise and envy.

To have four in one birth—true dragon, divine phoenix, boys and girls—remarkable.

Who would have thought that dry-looking Demon Sovereign could bear such offspring? Perhaps it was Haowei’s doing.

After everyone admired the babies, Haowei entrusted them to fairy attendants and went to find Si Lan. Since Si Lan’s pregnancy, his health hadn’t been great; laying eggs and tirelessly incubating them left him exhausted.

Haowei gently pushed open the door and approached the bed. Si Lan lay on his side, buried in the blanket, only his fair neck exposed.

Haowei was deeply grateful to Si Lan for entering his life, giving him a profound and sweet love, and blessing him with four precious babies, making his life colorful and less lonely amid the vast celestial realms.

Bending down, Haowei kissed Si Lan’s cheek. Sensing the familiar touch, Si Lan turned and embraced Haowei, his voice soft, “Xiao Xun and Xiao Dui’s identities haven’t been discovered, right?”

“No.”

“Sigh, sometimes one lie requires countless others to cover it up,” Si Lan chuckled softly.

Haowei lay on the outer side, his arm around Si Lan’s waist, pulling him close.

“Don’t worry, I plan to set up divine formations on Xun and Dui. Even if their identities are suspected in the future, no one will be able to harm them.”

Si Lan didn’t understand the intricacies of divine formations but felt it couldn’t be that simple. As drowsiness overcame him, he opened his eyes and looked up at Haowei.

Their gazes met as Haowei lowered his eyes.

“Will setting up the divine formations affect you?”

Haowei replied truthfully, “It may hinder my cultivation a bit, but with fifty thousand years of cultivation within me, it won’t harm me fundamentally.”

Si Lan hesitated, “Four of them—does that mean setting up four divine formations?”

“No, the formations are only for Xun and Dui.”

Si Lan fell silent for a moment, “In that case, Xiao Zhen and Xiao Kan might think you’re biased.”

“They will understand my good intentions.”

Si Lan doubted they would understand; they were still babies, only interested in satisfying their immediate desires, unable to grasp such profound matters.

“Although they are young, they are sensitive. We should treat them equally,” Si Lan advised.

“Well, I’ll compensate Zhen and Kan in other ways,” Haowei said, kissing Si Lan’s forehead lightly. Initially intending it to be brief, Haowei continued downwards, lifting Si Lan’s chin and kissing his full, lush lips.

Their last intimate encounter had ended poorly, with Si Lan in pain and calling for a celestial doctor. Since then, they had restrained their instincts like beasts lurking in the dark, waiting for an opportunity.

Si Lan blushed faintly, “I’ve gained a bit of weight on my stomach.”

Though his skin remained fair and smooth, his body had become more full. He felt somewhat uneasy.

Little did he know, Haowei loved him even more in this state, unable to resist caressing him affectionately.

The supple waist in his palms felt as soft as water, tempting Haowei to press his fingers firmly into it, leaving bruises.

Haowei’s breath was hot, “Your little belly is so cute.”

Si Lan’s face grew even redder. Then he heard Haowei continue, “Every part of you is adorable.”

At that moment, Haowei’s hand moved to little Si Lan, adding, “Including this delicate cutie.”

“…” Si Lan.

Describing it as “delicate and adorable” didn’t seem entirely flattering.

He stretched his leg out to kick Haowei away, but Haowei caught his ankle.

Kisses continued, inch by inch.

“Si Lan…”

“Hmm?”

Si Lan closed his eyes, overwhelmed by the sudden intimacy, making him abandon all restraint. But then Haowei’s movements abruptly stopped, oddly.

Annoyed, Si Lan opened his eyes, ready to say something, and followed Haowei’s gaze. To his surprise, both Xiao Yujia were standing at the edge of the bed, staring wide-eyed at them.

The two Xiao Yujia were even stepping on the heads of two little dragons. The dragons struggled to lift their heads, their four paws clinging to the edge of the bed as they stealthily observed the scene on the bed.

“Roar… squeak…”

“…” Si Lan.

“…” Haowei.

Haowei quickly pulled the blanket over their bodies, creating a gust that knocked the four babies off the bed, sending them tumbling to the floor.

The little ones immediately protested loudly, chirping and squeaking incessantly.

Si Lan hurriedly leaned out to look down at them, “Are you okay? Come, let Daddy hold you.”

As soon as Si Lan reached out his arm, the four babies pounced on him, climbing up his arm and into his chest. They squirmed against each other, on the verge of fighting until Si Lan preemptively warned, “Anyone who fights will sleep under someone’s butt.”

The babies quieted down immediately, each finding a corner and settling on Si Lan’s chest.

Si Lan found them surprisingly heavy when pressed against his chest. It made breathing difficult, so he reverted to his original form and gently enclosed them with his wings.

Meanwhile, Haowei’s heart was still burning, casting a resentful glance at the babies nestled in Si Lan’s arms.

What to do…

He had just thought the babies were the cutest creatures in the world, but now he felt like throwing these brats out.

Si Lan comforted Haowei with his spiritual sense, “Why don’t you take a cold bath first, and we… have a long way ahead of us.”

Haowei remained silent, withdrawing his resentful gaze like an unnecessary bystander feeling dejected.

Si Lan watched Haowei leave and couldn’t help but smile.

This was exactly what married couples with children inevitably went through. And they had four children, making their task even more daunting.

Si Lan’s gaze passed over each of the four babies. After they settled in his arms, their breathing soon steadied as they fell into deep sleep.

The little dragon curled up like a snake.

The little phoenix tucked its wings and buried its tiny head, resembling a dark ball.

Si Lan adjusted his wings and inadvertently pulled the little dragon closer to the little phoenix. Though Xiao Yujia didn’t open their eyes, they used their wings to push away the dragon, who grunted in response.

Si Lan chuckled silently, looking at the four babies, lost in thought.

What had caused them to start squabbling?

He sighed, then turned to the two little dragons, “Regardless of the reason, you two are the older brothers. You must protect your sister and not fight with her.”

Then he turned to the two little phoenixes, “And you two are sisters. You should respect your brothers and not bully them.”

Whether the four babies understood or not, the next day they woke up and, for once, peacefully coexisted without any fighting.

They began to behave, eat properly, and before long, each baby had transformed into a chubby little child.

The eldest, Xiao Zhen, was calm and reserved, his chubby face giving him a dignified air.

The second, Xiao Kan, was simple-minded and honest, his large, bright eyes innocent and curious.

The third, Xiao Xun, was a beauty in the making, charming and delicate, far from the wildness of Xiao Yujia.

The youngest, Xiao Dui, was proud and assertive, his face full of arrogance, looking down on others with his nose up. With Si Lan’s patient guidance, he eventually learned to use his eyes to observe people.

Chapter 80 – Breaking out of the shell and fighting

Chapter 80 (Extra 3)

“Is it coming out?” Haowei’s face tensed instantly. He reached out to touch Si Lan, but seeing Si Lan’s pale face, he withdrew his hand anxiously and said, “Does it hurt? Do you want me to help?”

Si Lan could only manage weak breaths, the pain rendering him speechless. He gestured for Haowei to help him lie down. Standing like this, the egg might break when it comes out.

Haowei quickly held him, guiding him to the bed, and called for the midwife.

As Si Lan sat down, a stifled groan escaped his throat, and amniotic fluid soaked his clothes. He endured discomfort and parted his legs.

Somewhere within the soaked fabric, a round, swollen object began to take shape.

This was the first egg being born.

Seemingly pushed out by the other eggs, it trembled with anger as it emerged from the birth canal, causing Si Lan intense pain.

Haowei’s arms trembled with excitement as he carefully lifted layer after layer of blue fabric, revealing the golden dragon egg wrapped in amniotic fluid and specks of blood.

The surface of the dragon egg was not smooth, dotted with brown pits, likely warm from just being birthed.

Haowei delicately took it out and placed it beside Si Lan, guessing that Si Lan would want to see it.

Si Lan glanced at the egg, closed his eyes, and emitted a painful groan from his chest.

There were three eggs this size!

He felt like dying.

Summoned by the call, the midwife and celestial physician hurried over. Si Lan was now birthing the second egg, which got stuck.

The midwife instructed Haowei to soothe Si Lan’s emotions; he was too tense and might crush the hatchling.

Haowei spoke, diverting Si Lan’s thoughts. “Si Lan, it’s my fault that Xiezhe’s tooth has been bothering him lately. I give him candies whenever I go to the Demon Realm.”

Amid the midwife’s repeated calls to push, Si Lan rolled his eyes at Haowei. He knew it wasn’t Xiezhe’s doing; it was his own.

“And there’s more good news. I was planning to tell you once everything was certain, but it won’t hurt to share now. The snow in the Northern Plains is nearly melted.”

Upon hearing this, Si Lan grabbed Haowei’s hand excitedly, and the second egg emerged from him.

The midwife held the glittering dragon egg and congratulated, “Congratulations, Your Majesty, and Your Highness. This is a dragon egg.”

Haowei placed both eggs side by side. He hadn’t expected the eggs that depended on Si Lan’s blood essence to come out first, meaning the remaining two should be Yujia eggs.

Two precious little Yujia still hid behind.

Haowei’s eyes sparkled with anticipation as he looked at Si Lan’s abdomen.

Si Lan glanced at the second egg, similar to the first but slightly sharper at both ends and rounder in the middle. Another wave of pain swept over him, sweat breaking out on his face as he gasped, “Is it… going to… snow…”

Haowei dared not let Si Lan speak too much and hurriedly continued, “Yes, there have been movements in Zhonghuang Star recently, signs of the impending return.”

Si Lan hadn’t expected that the prophecy “When the snow in the Northern Plains melts, I will return” from Xiezhe was actually true.

If that were the case, then Fanyu would revive soon.

Si Lan looked up at Haowei, who knew what he wanted to ask, and continued, “Upon his return, Xiezhe should first go through reincarnation, then into the world, without his previous memories and abilities. So he won’t scare the Six Realms again.”

“Fanyu passed away later and will revive in some time.”

Si Lan nodded, his attention returning to his stomach. The pain seemed to have stopped at some point, leaving no other feeling.

The midwife looked awkwardly at the celestial physician, who tied Si Lan’s elbows with a string and checked his pulse.

Seeing Si Lan’s and Haowei’s worried expressions, the physician said, “These… these two eggs don’t seem to have any problem, they just don’t want to come out.”

Si Lan.

Haowei.

Si Lan suddenly remembered the pain in his stomach from earlier. It seemed that those two Yujia eggs had been kicked out by the others…

These two little brats kicked me out!

He would wait for them to come out and make them understand why the flowers were so red!

“What should we do then? How about using a spell to induce labor for the Empress Mother?” suggested the midwife.

At this point, Si Lan’s stomach began to ache again. The two Yujia eggs seemed to understand the midwife’s words and showed dissatisfaction by shaking inside Si Lan’s belly.

Si Lan groaned in pain, clutching his abdomen. He didn’t believe he couldn’t handle these two little brats: “The eldest and the second are out now. So… let’s see who comes out last and becomes the youngest, becoming the youngest brother or sister.”

The two eggs inside his stomach quieted for a moment, then another wave of pain suddenly came over him. Si Lan grabbed Haowei’s hands tightly. Before he could catch his breath, he heard the midwife’s exclamation.

“So big… such a big chicken egg!”

Si Lan.

Haowei.

“Oh my, another big chicken egg!”

The midwife seemed shocked, staring blankly. Presumably, in her many years of birthing in the Six Realms, she had never delivered such large chicken eggs!

Haowei hurriedly took out the two “eggs” from under Si Lan. At first glance, these eggs indeed resembled ordinary chicken eggs, with a bright red shell tinged with yellow, slightly uneven. However, upon closer inspection, something seemed off.

The shells appeared fragile but were actually remarkably sturdy and hard, even tougher than dragon eggs. Haowei speculated they could withstand being dropped without damage. Faint silver glimmers could be seen between the eggshells, barely discernible unless closely observed.

Haowei tentatively tapped the outer layer of one shell and was surprised to find it peeling away, suddenly understanding.

The Yu Jia clan had evolved over the years to evade pursuit, forming a disguise on their eggshells to resemble ordinary chicken eggs. When they transformed, they appeared as wild chickens. After being burned in the Lu Jing Clean Furnace, they could be reborn, revealing their true forms.

Since Si Lan had entered the Lu Jing Clean Furnace previously, his true form had undergone a change.

He gave a cold glance to the midwife and the immortal physician. “As for today’s birthing room matters, do you know what to say when you go out?”

“Y-yes.” The physician and midwife wiped their foreheads nervously, then promptly left to inform the various immortals and demons who had already gathered outside.

Shortly after, Si Lan gave birth to two dragon eggs and two phoenix eggs.

For a while, the Six Realms were filled with joy.

Inside the bedchamber, Si Lan felt as though his entire being had been hollowed out. His once prominently protruding belly had now deflated after delivering four eggs.

The skin on his stomach didn’t seem like his own anymore; he felt nothing there.

Haowei carefully cleaned him up, laid him on the bed, and tended to him with soup to replenish his strength. Meanwhile, the four eggs were placed aside and covered with silk cloth.

After Si Lan had eaten a bit, feeling much better, he asked, “How long does it usually take for dragon eggs to hatch?”

“About a month.”

Si Lan vaguely remembered his mother’s incubation period for him was also about a month. It seemed these four eggs could be hatched together.

He supported his forehead and fell into silence.

Giving birth was just the first step; there was still incubation, then nurturing, and worrying about marriage in the future…

Haowei seemed to sense his thoughts and comforted him, “Once the children are weaned, we’ll send them all to the Extreme Domain for training, and you and I can resume our normal lives.”

When Haowei was young, he had been sent to the Extreme Domain in a similar manner by Taiwei.

Si Lan looked at Haowei faintly, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.

Haowei felt sorry for Si Lan. Originally intending to help with the incubation, he found that these four eggs seemed to dislike him, probably because they found his scales too cold, unlike Si Lan’s feathers, which were soft and gentle. Thus, he had just set the four eggs on the tray, and they rolled around, avoiding his touch.

Haowei had no choice but to entrust the incubation task to their “mother,” Si Lan.

Whenever Si Lan touched the four eggs, they behaved very well, staying still. However, he still had some reservations, making many mental preparations before sitting on the four eggs with a flushed face, enduring his embarrassment.

Ever since he arrived in this world, Si Lan knew it was full of bizarre things, completely different from the world he used to live in. But he never expected to give birth, to hatch eggs…

Indeed, the longer one lived, the more absurd things one encountered.

Si Lan guessed that these four eggs were similar to himself back then; although not fully formed, they already had consciousness. Thus, he started pondering about egg teaching.

Every time he “nested,” he would read children’s literacy books and self-composed fairy tales. Even when the children were still a mass of sticky egg fluid, he had already rolled them up in advance.

He wanted them to become the smartest offspring in the Six Realms.

On the other side, the Divine Mother summoned Haowei, taking his hand and advising with tearful eyes, “I never expected him to love you so deeply that he would swallow four pregnant fruits for you in one breath. I used to have some bias against him, but now I’ve completely changed my view. When marrying a wife, one should choose a virtuous one. He is so considerate and understands the bigger picture. You must treat him well, so don’t think about taking more concubines.”

“Concubines?” Haowei looked puzzled.

“Yes, a few days ago, didn’t the Dragon King of the East Sea send a little Seven to you?”

Suddenly, Haowei remembered there was such a thing, but at the time, the Dragon King of the East Sea said the little Seven was not good enough, weak, and sick from childhood, and wanted to use the Qingyao spring in the Nine Layer Sky.

He didn’t think much and agreed.

“They all say that Little Seven is the concubine sent to you by the Dragon King of the East Sea. You have already agreed to the order.”

“…” Haowei.

Haowei nodded at the time, clearly agreeing to let Little Seven stay in the palace to recuperate, so how could there be any agreement to take her as a concubine?!

How did this rumor spread?!

After thinking for a moment, Haowei understood what was going on. Quze had successfully ascended to become a dragon after overcoming his tribulation, though he hadn’t yet sought revenge on the Green Prawn Demon Clan. It was only a matter of time before he did.

Back in the day, the Green Prawn Demon Clan managed to destroy the Jinhe Carp Clan with the support of the East Sea.

Now that Si Lan had become the Divine Mother and Quze was Si Lan’s master, it was akin to Quze being backed by the Heavenly Realm.

The Green Prawn Demon Clan and the East Sea couldn’t sit still, so they thought of sending a beauty over to divide the relationship between Haowei and Si Lan.

Haowei couldn’t believe that he had fallen for the Dragon King’s tearful expression, and thought he was deeply moved by his father’s love. As a result, the Dragon King spread such a rumor behind his back

“Haowei, he bore four children for you as a man. You must not betray him. Taking concubines while he is in postpartum weakness is not right,” the goddess-mother couldn’t help but advise, patting Haowei’s hand.

Haowei’s face turned pale and then red, embarrassed as he explained, “Goddess-mother, please rest assured, I won’t do such a thing.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a voice transmitted through his divine senses.

This celestial attendant was assigned to take care of Si Lan.

Usually, unless it was something major, celestial attendants didn’t dare communicate with him.

“Your Majesty, you must return quickly, the goddess… the goddess is fighting with someone.”

Si Lan was recently engrossed in the “egg teaching” and normally wouldn’t leave her four eggs. So, who was she fighting with?

While Haowei bid farewell to the goddess-mother, he also communicated with the celestial attendant, “Who is she fighting with?”

“It’s… the Seventh Prince of the Eastern Sea.”

“…” Haowei.

Haowei didn’t dare delay and quickly flashed back to the Jade Palace to find her, only to see that she was still in confinement, grabbing a disheveled man, and was holding a teacup while sitting comfortably on a chair.

Seeing Haowei appear, Si Lan didn’t even raise her head, just continued drinking her tea.

When the Seventh Prince of the Eastern Sea saw Haowei appear, he immediately wept like a beautiful woman and begged, “Your Majesty, please save me.” After Yuzi finished speaking, he tried to throw himself at Haowei, only to be caught by Si Lan’s neck, and obediently fell down beside Si Lan.

Haowei glanced at the scene in the bedchamber. The thin robe on the prince was so light it was almost transparent, and the lingering fragrance in the bedchamber made it clear what was going on.

The guessed Prince of the East had come to the bedchamber and, not waiting for him, was waited on hand and foot.

Then the two people started fighting.

In the heavens and on earth, there were now few who could rival Si Lan. Prince Yuzhe, disheveled with tears in his eyes, looked pitiful.

But Haowei dared not look at him, approaching Si Lan and asking, “Who is he?”

“…” Yuzhe.

Si Lan set down his teacup, knowing Haowei was pretending to be clueless, and smiled, “He’s the Seventh Prince of the Eastern Sea, only two hundred years old and just coming of age.”

“Oh, I vaguely remember.”

“At your age, you could be his ancestor. Why would you want to recognize him as your grandson without first greeting me?”

“Your Highness…” Yuzhe’s voice was like a nightingale, pleading gently.

Haowei was taken aback by Si Lan’s words and continued awkwardly, “Si Lan, some time ago, the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea claimed he was unwell and wished to recuperate using the Qingyao Spring. I agreed to let him stay in the Ninth Heaven.”

“Oh, what illness has him bedridden?”

“…” Haowei.

Seeing Si Lan’s tight expression and dark, intense eyes, Haowei realized he was genuinely angry. He dared not feign ignorance anymore and confessed, “It was only today that I learned from the Heavenly Mother that I was deceived by the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea. He wanted this child, uh, to enter the Jade Pure Palace as a consort.”

“Even in the mortal realm, taking a concubine requires the consent of the main wife. The Eastern Sea Dragon King’s disregard for me is likely due to your indulgence,” Si Lan said with a slight redness in his eyes, seeming to feign strength as he turned away from Haowei.

Seeing this, Haowei panicked. He had never made Si Lan cry out of anger before. He hurriedly said, “Si Lan, I did not indulge him! How could I allow him to bully you? It was the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea acting on his own. I will punish him.”

“Enough, why punish the Eastern Sea for my sake and risk affecting your relationship with them?”

“Si Lan… Please don’t say that. This matter, indeed, was my fault. I will give you an explanation.”

“You don’t need to give me an explanation. If you truly think the Eastern Sea is wrong, then agree to one request of mine.”

“Alright, tell me.” Under pressure, Haowei agreed to anything.

Si Lan’s eyes flickered slightly, his voice intentionally trembling, “From now on, Tianjie is not allowed to interfere in the affairs between Qize, Eastern Sea, and the Blue Shrimp Demon Clan!”

Upon hearing this, Haowei was momentarily stunned, realizing what Si Lan meant.

He had been deceived.

Si Lan was never really upset, nor did he get angry. Moreover, Si Lan probably knew long ago that the Eastern Sea had sent someone, which allowed him to conveniently catch Yuzhe in the bedroom scene and then confront Haowei.

Everything Si Lan did was for Qize.

Haowei originally couldn’t avoid managing the affairs between Qize, Eastern Sea, and the Blue Shrimp Demon Clan. Now Si Lan was seizing the opportunity to force him not to intervene in Eastern Sea and Blue Shrimp Demon affairs.

Haowei sighed helplessly, “Alright, I’ll abide by your wishes.”

He felt increasingly incompetent.

Si Lan finally released Yuzhe, who lifted his tearful eyes and wanted to say something to Haowei, but seeing Si Lan’s murderous gaze, he was frightened and fled in his nearly scant clothing.

Although Haowei was deceived, he didn’t feel angry. He feared that he had really hurt Si Lan. Si Lan’s words just now reminded him of what he needed to do to prevent future incidents from drawing attention to the Jade Pure Palace.

“Si Lan.” Haowei reached out and held Si Lan’s hand. Si Lan didn’t dodge, knowing that things were settled.

“I’m sorry,” Haowei suddenly apologized.

Si Lan was surprised, looking up at Haowei. Haowei should have realized that today’s events were deliberately provoked by him, so why was he apologizing?

“You…” Si Lan hesitated to speak, and Haowei reached forward, pinching his chin gently and saying, “Si Lan, what you said was right. I do need to do better to prevent them from inserting people like this in the future.”

With that, Haowei leaned closer to Si Lan. Just as their lips were about to touch, an immortal servant responsible for guarding the eggs hurriedly came to report.

“Your Majesty, Goddess, the young prince and princess have hatched!”

The two were interrupted by this voice, forgetting their intimacy and rushing over immediately.

At this moment, all four eggs placed on the Silk and Jade Furnace had cracked open.

Two white little dragons and two black little Yujia were born and immediately started fighting.

White dragons helped white dragons, and black Yujia helped black Yujia.

“…” Si Lan.

“…” Haowei.

Chapter 79 – The four treasures are out

Chapter 79 (Extra 2)

The Childbearing Fruit only existed in ancient texts.

However, it was merely briefly mentioned—its effect is to transform the dry into the fertile, allowing men to bear sons. There are no records regarding the appearance or taste of the Childbearing Fruit, so over the years, many have considered it merely a legend.

Based on this legend, theories such as the Childbearing Pill and Multiple-children Pill were developed.

Si Lan instinctively covered his abdomen, blinking his eyes non-stop as he stared at Hao Wei, as if trying to discern the truth in his words.

Seeing Hao Wei’s earnest expression, his heart sank to the bottom: “How could there be Childbearing Fruit?”

“This is a spiritual treasure nurtured by the Celestial Venerable over thousands of years,” Hao Wei lightly coughed, “He specially had someone deliver it to the Jade Clear Palace.”

Si Lan fell silent.

Why were these immortals so idle?

Why were they all staring at his stomach?

He clenched his fingers, suppressing his emotions. “Is it effective if taken beforehand or afterwards?”

“It works if taken within three days afterwards,” Hao Wei answered truthfully.

Hearing this, Si Lan immediately breathed a sigh of relief and released his grip on his fingers. “That’s good. It’s been almost two months since we last met.”

He rejoiced too soon, failing to notice that Hao Wei’s expression froze as soon as he finished speaking.

Hao Wei pursed his lips, seeing Si Lan reach out as if to feel the atmosphere, then thought better of what he was going to say.

If telling Si Lan now wouldn’t help matters and might even provoke his rage, it was better to delay it for now.

When the time comes for the truth to come out, it will already be months later…

At least during this time, peace and harmony prevailed.

When Si Lan looked up at him, Hao Wei had already composed himself, smiling at Si Lan as he explained, “There was turmoil in the Demon Realm recently. I went there to calm things down, which delayed my return to the Ninth Heaven. I intended to come for you tonight, but I didn’t expect you to return so soon.”

Si Lan felt there was something odd about his words, as if he were hiding something.

So he leaned closer to Hao Wei, sensing his aura, but detected no presence of a third person around Hao Wei.

“Did the matters in the Demon Realm delay you for so long?”

“Yeah.” Hao Wei didn’t dare to reveal the truth. If Si Lan knew he had been visiting the Seven Strings Cave every night, engaging in intercourse on average every two days, he estimated Si Lan would tear his tendons and peel his dragon skin.

“Although I’ve been away from you for so long, I’ve been thinking of you every day. It feels like I’ve been holding you in my arms every night,” Hao Wei boldly spoke sweet words.

The frost on Si Lan’s face thawed: “I’ve been focusing on cultivation during this time and didn’t miss you.”

“Yeah.” Hao Wei naturally knew how focused Si Lan was. His consciousness detached from his body, roaming beyond the Six Paths, so Hao Wei went there every night, making sure to clean up afterward, but Si Lan remained unaware.

Thinking of this, Hao Wei blushed slightly, but pretended to casually hug Si Lan from behind, hiding his guilty expression.

“But I miss you a lot.”

“In that case, think about it yourself.” Si Lan’s lips curled up, trying to suppress it but failing, he pushed away Hao Wei’s arms and returned to the sleeping hall, indicating a reconciled meaning.

Hao Wei saw his insincere look and chuckled softly. Turning around, he saw the Childbearing Fruit placed on the table, and his smile froze again.

Four fruits, four children.

Ah.

While it’s rare for men to bear children, there are precedents in the Six Realms.

Moreover, that little jade ornament is the one that really makes it happen.

Hopefully, three months later, Si Lan will discover the truth with less anger.

However, Si Lan discovered something wrong just one month later.

His lower abdomen inexplicably swelled, suspecting he had overeaten, he tried hard to curb his appetite, but the more he restrained, the more he craved strange things.

For instance, he wanted to eat the thousand-year-old brocade carp raised in the Jade Clear Palace. Every time he saw that carp, he couldn’t help but salivate.

Furthermore, he inexplicably developed a liking for eating melon seed shells recently, specifically fried melon seeds, eating only the shells and leaving the kernels. He felt like he had been possessed by a little mouse, staying up every night sneaking outside the main hall to crack melon seeds.

At first, he thought he was just indulging his appetite and didn’t think much of it, until one day he inexplicably vomited, he realized something was wrong.

He knew a little about medicine, but not much, after feeling his pulse, his expression slowly collapsed, as if unwilling to believe it, he quickly summoned a fairy doctor.

Upon learning that Si Lan had called for a fairy doctor, Hao Wei hurried to the sleeping hall.

Si Lan was lying on the chaise, and upon seeing Hao Wei, he cast only a faint glance at him, saying nothing.

Hao Wei instantly felt uneasy, as if a thorn was at his back, experiencing such discomfort for the first time in his life.

Feeling like a guilty child, he approached the chaise and saw the fairy doctor delicately examining Si Lan’s wrist, pinching a thread of silk in one hand and stroking his graying beard with the other.

The fairy doctor frowned deeply, seeming concerned about the situation.

Both Si Lan and Hao Wei held their breaths.

“The issue here isn’t an abnormal pulse, but rather a pregnancy,” the fairy doctor finally spoke.

“…” Si Lan.

Hao Wei bowed his head slightly.

The fairy doctor paused, then rotated the thread of silk before continuing, “In this belly, there are four eggs—two dragon eggs, and two…” chicken eggs.

The last two words, the fairy doctor dared not utter. He glanced at Si Lan and then shifted his gaze to Hao Wei.

Suddenly feeling his life was at risk.

This pregnancy, surrounded by controversy when he entered the Ninth Heaven, was initially rumored to involve a wild chicken. Later, somehow, the Phoenix Clan Princess Zhujia was implicated as a wild chicken.

Therefore, now… if he bluntly stated there were two chicken eggs in Si Lan’s belly, he might not be able to leave through that door alive.

Si Lan and Hao Wei, seeing the fairy doctor hesitate, both asked in unison, “And the other two?”

“Two… cough cough, Phoenix eggs.”

“…” Si Lan.

“…” Hao Wei.

These two “Phoenix eggs” were probably Zhujia’s eggs.

After dismissing the fairy doctor, an eerie atmosphere settled in.

Si Lan maintained a strained expression, sitting on the chaise without saying a word. Hao Wei dared not move, even his breathing involuntarily weakened, minimizing his presence as much as possible.

Suddenly, Si Lan raised his hand, and instinctively, Hao Wei leaned away, thinking Si Lan was about to strike him.

“…” Si Lan.

This man still had some self-awareness, knowing he had done wrong.

“Speak up. How did this child come about?” Si Lan demanded.

Hao Wei truthfully replied, “Actually, I lied to you. During this time, I’ve been visiting the Seven Strings Cave to see you.”

This was almost exactly what Si Lan had suspected.

Hao Wei hadn’t entered through the cave entrance; he must have come in through the underground stream.

Turns out, this man hadn’t been avoiding him, but… whether he should be happy or angry at this moment was suddenly unclear to Si Lan.

“Si Lan, if you’re blaming someone, blame me. Just don’t take it out on the child,” Hao Wei couldn’t help adding.

Si Lan looked up at him, eyelids drooping with a murderous gaze.

He had never seen Hao Wei so subdued, so shameless. Truly, everyone in the Ninth Heaven should witness how shameless Hao Wei could be!

Now, he even suspected that tempting, attractive Childbearing Fruit had been deliberately given to him by Hao Wei!

He was about to lose his temper when Hao Wei preempted him, “Don’t get angry, be careful of your stomach. There are four eggs inside.”

No wonder his belly had become so noticeably swollen in just one month.

Hearing this, Si Lan hugged his stomach with both hands, unaware that he had quickly adapted to and accepted the fact that he was the pregnant spouse, coldly saying, “You don’t need to be so kind-hearted. Go away, stay away from me for now. I don’t want to see you!”

This bastard knew he might be pregnant and didn’t tell him. Earlier, he saw him hungry and even encouraged him to eat more, saying he liked his plump appearance.

Hmph.

“Mm.” Haowei didn’t insist on staying. He obediently walked out upon hearing this, considerately closing the door behind him.

At this moment, he dared not provoke Si Lan at all.

Si Lan was currently proud of his eggs.

Haowei cast a spell, activating his Thousand-Mile Eyes, though he sat in the court of governance, he constantly kept an eye on Si Lan’s condition.

He saw Si Lan drive him out and sit alone on the couch, absent-mindedly touching his abdomen with one hand.

Thinking of something, Si Lan lifted his clothes, gazing at his belly with a complex expression, then prodded it with his finger.

There was no response from his belly.

But the corners of his mouth seemed to twitch, as if smiling, his expression softening slightly.

Seeing this, Haowei couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Fortunately, while Si Lan appeared angry on the surface, deep down he had already accepted those four eggs.

Si Lan had never imagined that one day he would personally bear children, let alone four at once.

He remembered his mother often lamenting that as a male, he couldn’t continue the family line.

But now he wanted to tell her, Mother, look at the advancement in technology—no, in magic. Men can also continue the family line. In the future, he would continue the Yu Family lineage.

Both dragon and Yujia races lay one egg per pregnancy, yet he was carrying four directly. By the fifth month, his belly had grown abnormally large, forcing him to lie in bed to nurture them.

Strangely, Yu, in this biological state, became more beautiful as the pregnancy progressed, emitting a sweeter fragrance by the day, tormenting Haowei constantly.

Out of concern, Haowei dared not stray too far from him. But when he got too close, Haowei’s own breath became erratic, almost wanting to devour him whole.

Si Lan was also quite uncomfortable. Pregnancy worsened his temper, and he also craved…

But he was too embarrassed to say it directly, so when falling asleep, he used his eyes and gestures to hint. Each time, Haowei would tighten his expression, helping him adjust his clothes carefully and reminding him gently, “Don’t catch a cold.”

“…”

Later, Haowei understood his meaning, after much hesitation, even consulting ancient texts to confirm that occasional indulgence wouldn’t have much impact.

However, halfway through, Si Lan suddenly felt pain in his belly, startling Haowei into hastily summoning a celestial physician to check on him, fearing he had overexerted and hurt Si Lan’s belly.

Haowei nervously held Si Lan’s hand, deeply regretting it. Si Lan couldn’t help but endure, but how could he endure?

He shouldn’t have indulged Si Lan like this.

Pale-faced, Si Lan held his belly. The pain was strange, as if the offspring inside were moving. Through fresh blood, he felt connected to their lives…

After a detailed consultation, the celestial physician reassured him, “Your Majesty, don’t worry. This is a normal phenomenon. It seems the four eggs in the Divine Consort’s belly are competing for territory.”

“…” Si Lan.

“…” Haowei.

Competing for territory at five months?

Haowei thought inwardly, “Truly worthy of my descendants.”

Si Lan thought inwardly, “Little rascals, once you’re out, I won’t spare you.”

After this incident, no matter how Si Lan hinted at Haowei afterwards, Haowei pretended not to understand, helping him put on clothes and tucking him in bed, no longer easily yielding to him.

Si Lan gnawed his lips in frustration.

This person, who used to fuss over him like mad, now “avoids him like a snake and scorpion.”

Heh heh.

A hypocritical man.

Since becoming pregnant, Si Lan’s emotions had become much more sensitive and unstable, maintaining this state until the day of delivery.

On that day, Si Lan and Haowei somehow got into an argument, though it was mostly Si Lan arguing by himself while Haowei remained silent, listening all along.

Seeing Si Lan with his big belly, looking huffy, Haowei found him both cute and worrying, silently casting spells to secretly stabilize Si Lan’s posture.

But since he didn’t speak, Si Lan was dissatisfied.

“Why aren’t you talking? Do you think I’m being unreasonable?”

“No.”

“If not, then why won’t you speak?” Si Lan continued incessantly. But suddenly, this time he stopped talking, straightened his back, and tightly squeezed his legs in a strange posture, as if afraid something might fall out.

Seeing this, Haowei quickly asked, “What’s wrong?”

“It seems… the egg… is coming out…”

Chapter 78 – Swallowing the childbirthing pill by mistake

Chapter 78 (Extra 1)

A small underground stream flowed through the Seven Strings Cave, the water moving slowly and reflecting a mottled light off the stone walls. On a jade platform by the stream, a man in a blue robe rested one hand behind his head and held a booklet in the other. A moonlight lamp floating in mid-air illuminated the surroundings, allowing him to clearly read the words on the booklet.

These were all the strange and interesting stories from the six realms that Quze had collected for him.

“Your Majesty, Emperor Haowei has come again.”

From outside the cave, Quze’s voice suddenly rang out.

This was the third time Quze had said such a thing today.

Si Lan’s expression hardened, his eyelids drooping. “Tell him I don’t want to see him right now. If he keeps bothering me, I’ll find a place to hide where he can’t find me.”

Quze received the order and left, but returned shortly after to report back.

“Your Majesty, Emperor Haowei said he wants to apologize to you in person and won’t bother you again after that.”

Si Lan put down the booklet in his hand. “Fine, let him come in.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Haowei’s voice echoed from outside the cave.

“Si Lan, are you… are you okay?”

“Thanks to you, I’m doing just fine,” Si Lan replied sarcastically.

The person outside seemed to freeze, then after a moment of silence, spoke again with a hint of apology, “I’m sorry. Next time, if we do it together again, I’ll make sure to get your consent first.”

Just hearing these words made Si Lan feel a tearing pain throughout his body. The experience from a few days ago made him feel as if he had endured the most brutal torture.

He couldn’t help but move his body, lifting himself from the waist down. Despite having used magic to erase the marks and soreness on his body, he still felt pain in his heart.

Previously, when they dual-cultivated in their spiritual forms, they had occasionally done it together, but it only left him feeling mentally exhausted, with no physical discomfort.

After they got married, they had never tried such a thing in their human forms until a few days ago, when Haowei, overcome by his dragon nature, put two in together in his original form, causing Si Lan considerable suffering.

Although Haowei later explained that it was due to the demonic energy from his spirit platform taking over and causing him to lose control, Si Lan was still furious. In a fit of anger, he returned to the Demon Realm, lay in the Seven Strings Cave, and announced his seclusion.

Haowei had been coming every day, three times today alone.

Si Lan blushed furiously. “Shut up. Are you… is there anyone with you?” Haowei had spoken so bluntly, and he was afraid Quze and Xie Li would hear.

Haowei looked around. “No one is here.”

Hearing this, Quze wisely retreated silently, pretending not to have heard anything.

Si Lan continued, “Go back. Don’t come over the next few days.”

“Alright. If anything happens, remember to contact me through our spiritual connection.”

Si Lan ignored this last statement, picking up the booklet again to read. He and Haowei had been bonded for six years, their days having returned to normalcy.

Perhaps it was this normalcy that led Haowei to act as he did last time.

Men, at their core, loved excitement.

Si Lan thought angrily, unable to focus on the words in the booklet. He took off his clothes and transformed into his original form, a Yujia bird, before jumping into the stream.

Most birds feared water, but he was different, enjoying the feeling of being in the water. He swam a couple of laps, feeling tired, then transformed back into human form, lying on the water’s surface with his eyes closed to rest.

His breathing gradually steadied.

At the moment his breathing steadied, a huge white dragon tail emerged from the silent stream, the silver scales overlapping like jade and frost. The tail gently moved, bringing the floating man into its embrace.

The silver tail slowly wrapped around Si Lan’s waist, bringing him closer.

Seemingly infatuated with the other’s scent, the giant dragon nuzzled Si Lan’s lips with its head. Si Lan murmured drowsily, and the dragon quickly held its breath, casting a spell to put Si Lan into a deeper sleep.

Only then did the dragon become “bold,” transforming into a human form with a smooth, muscular upper body. He held Si Lan in his arms, standing up from the water as the stream cascaded down. The silver-white light flowed between them, drying their bodies.

For the past few days, Haowei had been sneaking in through the stream while Si Lan slept.

He didn’t dare to enter through the cave entrance, as it was warded and would leave traces.

He placed Si Lan on the jade platform, looking at his sleeping face with a mix of helplessness and affection. “How can you sleep in the water every day without worrying about harming your body?”

After all, Si Lan wasn’t an aquatic creature, and sleeping in the water would let the cold seep into his bones, which wasn’t good for his injuries or his health.

Haowei reached out and held Si Lan’s hand, transferring some spiritual energy to warm his body.

He estimated that Si Lan was about to wake up, so he gently placed him back into the water and transformed into a small white dragon, swimming away.

Si Lan had intended to rest his eyes for a moment, but unexpectedly slept for a long time. Fortunately, he felt no discomfort when he woke up.

He increasingly felt that, though he wasn’t a fish, he was even more suited to living in water than a fish.

Truly, he was a lazy fish.

He held his breath, focused his mind, and sat cross-legged to meditate.

Once he started, he was completely absorbed, training for forty-nine days in the Seven Strings Cave.

After finishing his cultivation, he felt his spiritual power had grown much stronger, his internal breath steady and orderly, though still somewhat lacking compared to Haowei.

Thinking of Haowei, he suddenly remembered that since he had driven Haowei away last time, Haowei hadn’t come to see him even once.

Forty-nine days had passed…

Si Lan pushed aside the booklet, stood up, his expression not looking good. He walked to the entrance of the Seven Strings Cave, reaching out to open the door, but after some hesitation, he turned back and continued meditating on the white jade platform.

He wanted to see if Haowei would still come.

However, after cultivating for more than ten days, Haowei still hadn’t come to see him.

With a stern expression, Si Lan paced inside the cave, then suddenly thought of something and sent a message to Quze: “Quze, has there been anything unusual outside the cave recently?”

“Your Majesty, nothing unusual has been observed outside the Seven Strings Cave.”

“Oh,” Si Lan replied, dragging out the word.

Quze seemed to understand what he was asking, pausing for a moment before adding, “Your Majesty, Emperor Haowei seems to have been very busy with affairs recently and hasn’t come to the Seven Strings Cave.”

“Alright, I understand.”

Si Lan’s fingers unconsciously tapped on the white jade platform as he thought about the longest time he had been apart from Haowei since their marriage. It was during the time when Quze was undergoing his carp-to-dragon transformation.

At that time, Si Lan had guarded Quze within the formation for eleven days. When he emerged, Haowei acted as if they had been separated for eleven thousand years, meticulously checking and kissing Si Lan all over before feeling satisfied.

Thinking of this made Si Lan’s face flush slightly. But now, Haowei could endure forty-nine days without seeing him?

After his anger subsided, alarm bells rang in Si Lan’s mind. Thoughts of those melodramatic stories from novels filled his head, and he couldn’t help but frown, growing increasingly uneasy.

Something was wrong.

Haowei wasn’t that kind of person.

Even though they hadn’t known each other for ten years, Si Lan knew Haowei’s character very well. So why hadn’t Haowei come to see him?

Could he be in trouble?

With this thought, Si Lan no longer hesitated. He left the Seven Strings Cave and flew to the Heavenly Realm.

At the foot of Zhuyun Peak, Quze, who had grown into the appearance of an adult man, was holding Xie Li’s hand, looking up at the sky.

Xie Li said, “Senior Brother, I won the bet. His Majesty went back to the Heavenly Realm on his own, so you have to get me some candy.”

Quze smiled helplessly. “Alright.”

He had lost the bet.

He thought that Si Lan, being so angry, would stay in the Demon Realm for a longer time and that Emperor Haowei would personally come to bring him back. But he didn’t expect Si Lan to return on his own.

Xie Li hadn’t told Quze that although it seemed like Haowei hadn’t come, he actually did come every day. Haowei was just sneaking into the Seven Strings Cave through the stream.

Xie Li had seen the giant dragon in the stream when he was washing his candies.

The dragon was about to threaten him as usual, to turn him into a pig-headed kid, but Xie Li had wised up. “If you bring me the best candy from the Heavenly Realm every day, I won’t tell His Majesty.”

He could feel Haowei’s expression growing extremely complicated—angry, helpless, exasperated, and somewhat collapsing. It seemed unimaginable that an emperor would be threatened by a kid.

Haowei didn’t say anything, but since then, he brought Xie Li a candy every day. Then Xie Li deliberately bet with Quze to win more candies.

He really was a clever little imp.

After arriving in the Nine Heavens, Si Lan went straight to the administrative hall of the Jade Purity Palace.

He didn’t see Haowei there, only two incense burners sending up curling smoke. This meant Haowei was still in the Jade Purity Palace; otherwise, the incense wouldn’t be lit.

So Haowei wasn’t in trouble.

Si Lan’s tense expression relaxed a bit. He walked to the desk and saw a particularly beautiful plate of fruits. The fruits were shaped like dolls, appearing as translucent as jade, and exuded a faint wild fragrance, looking extremely delicious.

Si Lan picked up one of the wild fruits, curiously examining it, as he had never seen such a fruit before. He tentatively took a bite.

The fruit tasted quite good, sweet and sour.

After eating one, he was still hungry and ate another.

When Haowei walked in, Si Lan was eating his fourth wild fruit. Seeing this, Haowei’s face tensed slightly. He stepped forward quickly but hesitated to speak.

Si Lan wiped his hands, his gaze falling on Haowei, scrutinizing him from head to toe.

This person was indeed safe and sound.

It seemed he had truly forgotten about him in the Demon Realm.

After all, they had been bonded for several years and had become like an old married couple. If he didn’t return, Haowei might even forget that he had a wife in the Demon Realm.

Haowei asked, “How many of those fruits did you eat?”

Si Lan’s expression stiffened. They hadn’t seen each other for almost two months, and the first thing Haowei cared about was how many fruits he had eaten!

Could this life get any worse?

Fuming, Si Lan shouted, “Four!”

“…”

Haowei fell into a strange silence, his gaze slowly lowering to Si Lan’s abdomen.

Si Lan was infuriated by his behavior and continued shouting, “What’s wrong? Do you want me to pay for them?”

Haowei knew Si Lan had misunderstood, so he moved his lips to explain, “Si Lan, do you know what those fruits are?”

“Oh? What prestigious fruits are they? Tell me.”

“It’s a fertility fruit, also known as a child-bearing pill.”

“…”

The anger on Si Lan’s face visibly vanished.

Chapter 77 – I really can't give birth

Chapter 77

The moment Si Lan jumped into the Glazed Purification Furnace, he transformed into his true form, a “wild pheasant.” The ferocious flames leaped up, setting his brown feathers ablaze.

Engulfed in flames, he appeared as if he were bathing in fire, yet his expression remained calm and composed. Through the wildly dancing flames, he looked at Ju Zhu, who stood in the distance.

Ju Zhu also revealed her true form as a divine phoenix, deliberately fanning the flames towards Si Lan with her wings. She gazed at Si Lan and mocked, “You really are just a wild pheasant! Just like your mother, a lowly, despicable creature!”

Perhaps it was due to the intense fire, but Si Lan’s eyes turned blood-red. He slowly moved his wings, and as the burnt brown feathers fell away, they revealed a strange silvery glow beneath.

There seemed to be something hidden within the glow.

Ju Zhu suddenly felt uneasy. If he were truly just a wild pheasant, he would not be able to survive in the Glazed Purification Fire. Could he be a divine phoenix?

Then…

A sense of unease inexplicably arose in Ju Zhu’s heart. She tried to leave the furnace by flapping her wings, but the next moment, Si Lan charged at her.

In an instant, he was right in front of her. Before she could react, he thrust his hand into her abdomen and grasped her phoenix core.

She was immobilized by a spell, unable to move.

“For your crimes, death is too lenient. But, rather than kill you, it seems more cruel to turn you into the very thing you despise the most—a wild pheasant.”

Fear filled Ju Zhu’s eyes, and she let out a long cry, as if trying to send a message outside. But she didn’t know that Si Lan had already set up a barrier in the furnace the moment he entered.

No one outside could see or hear what was happening inside, nor could they come to her rescue.

Previously, she had lost a significant portion of her cultivation when the God of Pity took away the divine array on Mount Guyue. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be so powerless in front of Si Lan. If her phoenix core were taken away, her cultivation would be completely destroyed!

She would become an ordinary “bird.”

Facing Ju Zhu’s desperate gaze, Si Lan slowly extracted the golden phoenix core.

Intense pain spread from Ju Zhu’s abdomen, causing her tail feathers to tremble uncontrollably. She hadn’t expected Si Lan to be so bold as to attack her here.

She was a princess of the Divine Phoenix Clan!

“I’ve heard that consuming a phoenix core can greatly increase one’s cultivation.”

Hearing this, she let out a frantic scream, cursing, “I should have killed you back then, just like your mother!”

He sneered, “It seems that keeping your tongue serves no purpose.”

Ju Zhu panted, her eyes trembling as if she had seen something terrifying. Despite her pride, she couldn’t bring herself to beg for mercy and continued to threaten Si Lan, “How dare you! I am a princess of the Divine Phoenix Clan. If anything happens to me, do you think you’ll be able to live peacefully?”

Si Lan was unfazed by her threats. With his fingers wrapped in flames, he passed them over her mouth, pulling out her tongue. Blood gushed from her mouth, rendering her unable to speak.

At that moment, the silver glow on Si Lan’s body slowly dissipated, revealing his form burned by the Glazed Purification Fire. His massive wings folded behind him, with layers of golden feathers and emerald green edges glowing faintly.

His long tail feathers swayed without wind, and the phoenix eyes on the tail tips flickered in the flames.

Ju Zhu’s horrified gaze slowly moved to Si Lan’s face, realizing that his appearance had changed. His eyes were now deep and narrow, with a red spot at the corner of his brown beak and green feathers like a gem on his forehead. He looked like a phoenix, yet not quite.

Ju Zhu didn’t know who he was, but she now understood that he was certainly not a wild pheasant.

She only knew that a phoenix could undergo rebirth in the Glazed Purification Fire, unaware that other beings could do the same.

She saw her reflection in his eyes slowly change, from the golden feathers of a phoenix to the lowly black feathers she despised. Her once sharp eyes turned dull and round, and her beak lost its luster, becoming a sharp black beak.

Her tail feathers were gone, replaced by two dull grey wings on her back.

She… she had become the wild pheasant she despised!

She completely broke down, making strange sounds from her throat.

No, she couldn’t let anyone see her like this!

If anyone saw her, she would rather die.

But Si Lan chose this moment to open the furnace lid and throw her out.

Outside, the gathered immortals gasped in shock at the sight of her.

“Is… is this wild pheasant the Demon Lord?”

“This isn’t the Demon Lord, this is… Oh my…”

Before the person could finish, the immortals realized that the blackened wild pheasant was Princess Ju Zhu.

How could the haughty princess of the Divine Phoenix Clan, who looked down on all other beings, become a wild pheasant?

Ju Zhu used her wings to prop herself up from the ground, her body trembling. She looked around before running towards the Divine Mother, seeking justice.

Just then, the furnace lid was pushed open again, and Si Lan emerged, his red robes and black hair untouched by the Glazed Purification Fire.

Haowei, seeing Si Lan unharmed, finally relaxed his tense expression.

The immortals looked from Si Lan to Ju Zhu, unsure what to say.

The one accused of being a wild pheasant had walked out of the Glazed Purification Fire unscathed, while the proud Divine Phoenix Princess had become the wild pheasant.

Ju Zhu crawled to the Divine Mother, pointing to her abdomen and mouth, then to Si Lan, crying and begging for justice.

The Divine Mother looked troubled and asked, “Ju Zhu, what happened?”

Seeing that the Divine Mother didn’t understand, Ju Zhu used her wings to write on the ground: “Phoenix core taken.”

“You mean, he… he took your… oh no, chicken core?” the Divine Mother corrected herself.

Hearing “chicken core,” Ju Zhu trembled with anger, her black feathers shaking, making her look even worse. She endured the pain and wrote “phoenix core.”

As long as they could find her phoenix core in Si Lan’s body, it would prove she was a divine phoenix.

The Divine Mother looked at Si Lan with difficulty, and Si Lan stepped forward to explain, “When I entered the Glazed Purification Furnace, I saw her engulfed in flames, suffering immensely. Her throat was burned, so I cast a spell to save her, but she accused me after coming out.”

The “wild pheasant” on the ground glared at Si Lan with venomous eyes, wishing she could tear him apart, but her fury could only remain in her eyes.

Si Lan used the haughty gaze she once had to coldly look at her and said, “If that’s the case, let the immortals examine my spiritual core to see if I have swallowed her phoenix core.”

“Ah, you’re such a reasonable child,” the Divine Mother sighed, turning to the immortals, “The Emperor and I won’t examine him, lest we be accused of bias. How about you all take a look?”

The Immortal Lords exchanged glances. One of them, who had a good relationship with the Phoenix Clan, stepped forward, apologized to Si Lan, and then probed into Si Lan’s spiritual void.

Si Lan’s spiritual void seemed weak, like someone recovering from a severe injury. His internal energy was chaotic, but there was no trace of the Phoenix Pill.

The Immortal Lord shook his head.

Upon seeing this, Ju Zhu became indignant, flapping her wings and making a hoarse cry. Other Immortal Lords then checked Si Lan’s spiritual void again, but the result was the same.

Now, the crowd’s gaze toward Ju Zhu became somewhat peculiar.

She kept accusing others of being wild chickens and of eating her Phoenix Pill…

Why did she seem so insane?

Just then, Si Lan spoke up, “Ever since I entered the Glazed Clean Furnace, she has been rambling on, accusing me of eating her Phoenix Pill and even claiming I ripped out her tongue…”

“Although I have conflicts with the Phoenix Clan, I wouldn’t do such things.”

The hall fell into a silence so deep you could hear a pin drop. Everyone was lost in their own thoughts.

An Immortal Lord suddenly spoke up, “I heard that not long ago, God of Sorrow retrieved the divine array, claiming that a descendant of the Phoenix Clan had used despicable means to deceive him. Those means involved… sucking the blood of Princess Fangyi.”

“Do you think she might have sucked Princess Fangyi’s blood to transform into a phoenix?”

“I’ve heard of such dark arts, they are very sinister.”

For Ju Zhu, the most precious thing was her lineage, and now it was being questioned by so many. She couldn’t accept it.

She wasn’t a wild chicken.

She didn’t want to turn out like this.

All of this… was Si Lan’s fault!

In a frenzy, she rushed towards Si Lan, wanting to perish together with this “culprit.”

Fortunately, Haowei cast a spell, stopping her in mid-air, causing her to fall to the ground and cough up blood.

Seeing this, Si Lan hurriedly stepped forward to help Ju Zhu up, saying, “Though she is at fault, it does not warrant death.”

The Immortal Lords thought Si Lan was too kind-hearted and gentle, speaking up for someone who had wronged him so much.

However, they didn’t hear what Si Lan whispered in Ju Zhu’s ear.

“You must live well, as a wild chicken.”

He had once thought of killing her to avenge his mother, but later realized that for the noble Phoenix Princess, turning her into a humiliated wild chicken was perhaps the cruelest revenge.

Haowei then spoke, “Divine Mother, she may be spared the death penalty, but not the living one. Her repeated false accusations today are a crime. She should be sent to the Tribunal.”

Si Lan said, “In her current state, she might not survive the Tribunal. It would be better to exile her to Flat Top Mountain.”

Flat Top Mountain was where the wild chickens resided.

Ju Zhu’s eyes widened, struggling with her wings, casting a pleading look at the Divine Mother. She didn’t want to go to Flat Top Mountain, which was full of dirty, ugly wild chickens.

Seeing no response from the Divine Mother, she turned her gaze to Qu Yu and the other Phoenix Clan members.

Qu Yu and the others were bewildered, not understanding why she had suddenly turned into this black chicken.

They feared that if Ju Zhu was truly a wild chicken, the heavens would punish their entire clan for deceit. Yet, they also feared she had been wronged and wanted to defend her, but seeing the whole hall seemingly accepting Ju Zhu as a wild chicken, they dared not speak.

“You can continue being your wild chicken princess at Flat Top Mountain,” Si Lan whispered the final words into Ju Zhu’s ear.

Full of humiliation, Ju Zhu stretched her claws, trying to grab Si Lan but failing, and was exiled to Flat Top Mountain with an expression of unwillingness.

The Phoenix Clan, terrified, knelt down to beg for forgiveness. The Divine Mother and Haowei did not punish them harshly, only confining them to the Phoenix Clan’s territory for a hundred years.

After this commotion, the delayed binding ceremony finally began.

Those Immortal Lords who had previously disliked Si Lan now looked at him with complex expressions.

Although Si Lan had never revealed his true form, his emergence unscathed from the Glazed Clean Furnace proved he was a divine phoenix, not a wild chicken.

In fact, even if he were a wild chicken, neither they nor the Divine Mother would care. His identity as the Demon Lord was more problematic.

But the Divine Mother, adhering to Ju Zhu’s words, conducted the test, leading to the revelation that Ju Zhu was a fraud.

In hindsight, it seemed as if Si Lan and the Divine Mother had conspired against the Phoenix Clan.

Si Lan didn’t care about the Immortal Lords’ gazes. His thoughts were on finally avenging his mother. He muddled through the ceremony, etched his and Haowei’s names on the Stone of Eternal Life, toasted with the immortals, and finally had some alone time.

While Haowei stayed in the hall with the other immortals, Si Lan drank the celebratory wine alone, mumbling, “Mother, you can rest in peace now. My identity remains hidden, and no one will dare harm me anymore.”

He sometimes thought Yu Wuxia’s words were true; there was no fairness in this world. At least between him and Luo Hui, he felt he could never repay what he owed her.

As a child, Luo Hui had shielded him from all storms, but she died before he grew up.

For Luo Hui, what had she gained from him in this life?

So unfair indeed.

Drunk, he muttered incoherently, “Mother…”

Haowei opened the door and heard the word “Mother” before Si Lan’s mutterings trailed off.

His words were slurred, and Haowei couldn’t understand him. Approaching, he saw the celebratory wine had been finished, the jug on the floor, a cup tipped over on the table, its contents precariously close to spilling.

Haowei lifted Si Lan from the chair, and Si Lan muttered again, “Mother.”

Haowei knew that today’s events must have reminded him of unpleasant things from the past. After placing him on the bed, he gently untied his outer robe.

Si Lan grabbed Haowei’s hand, hiccuped, and said, “You’ve had it really hard, so… hic, mom, let me be your mom in the next life.”

“…,” Haowei was speechless.

After speaking, Si Lan suddenly sat up, hugging Haowei tightly and burying his head in Haowei’s shoulder, as if crying. But when Haowei looked, he saw that Si Lan’s eyes were closed, and his lips were tightly pressed together.

Haowei could only gently pat his back, slowly soothing his emotions.

“Mom…” Si Lan suddenly called out again unexpectedly.

Haowei’s hand paused, feeling as if Si Lan was calling him. That night, he held Si Lan, listening to him constantly call out “mom.”

He never expected his wedding night would turn out like this.

Not only did they not drink the nuptial wine, but he was also repeatedly called “mom.”

The next morning, when Si Lan woke up, he lifted his head to meet Haowei’s eyes and immediately sensed a strong aura of resentment. His mind was a bit blank, unable to remember much of what happened last night.

Supporting himself with his arms to sit up, one of his hands landed on Haowei’s chest, making Haowei grunt and grab his hand.

He tried hard to recall last night’s events, “Last night… did I fall asleep?”

“Yes.”

“Oh.” Si Lan pondered for a moment and then seemed to understand why Haowei was upset. So he leaned down and kissed the corner of Haowei’s mouth. Just as he was about to lift his head, Haowei held his head, kissing him delicately along the corner of his mouth.

Feeling a bit embarrassed, Si Lan explained, “I drank a bit last night. How about I make it up to you tonight?”

Haowei’s eyelids drooped, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down, “Tonight, or maybe this morning.”

“The morning isn’t very good… I…”

Before Si Lan could finish his sentence, he was covered head to toe with the quilt. Underneath, Haowei flipped over and pinned him down.

Haowei’s voice was hoarse, “The morning isn’t good either.”

“…,” Si Lan was speechless.

After taking care of everything, Si Lan felt utterly exhausted, as if he had fought a battle, panting lightly with red-rimmed eyes.

Tiny beads of sweat glistened on his small nose, making the tip of his nose look even more delicate and cute.

Haowei rubbed his nose, gazing at him intently, “Si Lan, did you foresee Zhu Zhu’s actions yesterday?”

“Mm—,” Si Lan’s voice sounded moist.

“In the future, if something like this happens, can you tell me in advance? I’m really worried about you.”

“Okay.” Si Lan cupped Haowei’s face, rubbing his nose, lips, and chin with the corner of his mouth, repeating, “Okay.”

Haowei couldn’t help but hold him tightly, wanting their skin to be as close as possible.

“By the way, you haven’t told me how you convinced everyone in the celestial realm to agree to the celestial-demon marriage.” Si Lan asked.

Haowei was silent for a moment. Si Lan became more curious, staring at him intently. Haowei had to cough lightly and say, “I told them I found the Childbearing Pill.”

“?” Si Lan’s face turned pale, “Why did you deceive them like that? What if they find out the Childbearing Pill is fake and I can’t bear a child?”

“Then we’ll just work harder.”

“Work harder on what?”

“On cultivating.” After a pause, Haowei’s voice turned husky, whispering in Si Lan’s ear, “You look like you’re three months pregnant right now.”

“…,” Si Lan was speechless.

Seeing Si Lan’s blushing face, Haowei held back his laughter.

He had lied to him.

He didn’t actually tell the celestial lords he found the Childbearing Pill. Instead, he told them if they didn’t agree to their union, he would marry into the demon realm. Then, the celestial realm would lose a divine empress while the demon realm would gain a demon empress.

Hearing this, the celestial lords, with devastated expressions, had no choice but to agree.

From under the covers, Si Lan’s muffled voice emerged.

“I really can’t bear a child.”

“Let’s try this position, it’s more likely to result in pregnancy.”

The End.

T/N: Alright, that marks the end of the main story. Now for the side stories…. I’m not sure if I want to take a short hiatus before working on those. They are pretty short (except the last one which is about Si Lan’s parents…) Thanks for accompanying me on this journey, I believe this might be the novel I’ve managed to translate in the shortest time, considering it’s chapter length.

Chapter 76 – The demon lord is getting married

Chapter 76

Si Lan woke up the next evening. Upon waking, he noticed that his body felt completely normal—no pain, no stickiness. The only discomfort was a throbbing in his head, as if someone had hit him with a club.

Rubbing his head, he sat up and lifted the blanket to check his body. Even the bruises had been tended to. His body was clean, as if nothing had happened.

If not for the intensity of last night’s events, which had left an indelible impression on him, he might have thought it was just a dream.

Haowei was not in the hall, but two incense sticks were burning, their faint scent masking the lingering strange odor.

Although he had nearly passed out towards the end, he vaguely remembered Haowei carrying him back to the hall and the two of them continuing there.

Si Lan patted his head and couldn’t help but sigh.

Dragons are naturally lustful.

The ancient books hadn’t lied to him.

He ground his teeth, thinking that this man was becoming more and more revealing of his true nature.

As he was lost in these thoughts, the door creaked open. He looked up and met the gaze of the person entering. Despite having spent so much time together and being so intimate the previous night, they both blushed and looked away.

Haowei broke the silence first. “How are you feeling? Any better?”

Haowei remembered waking up in the morning to find Si Lan muttering unconsciously. When he leaned in close, he heard Si Lan cursing him.

Blushing, he took care of everything, afraid that he would be scolded even more when Si Lan woke up.

Si Lan didn’t want to deal with him, so he lay back down to sleep.

Haowei placed a bowl of dark herbal medicine by the bed and advised, “The doctor said you fainted because your essence was too depleted. You need to replenish it.”

Si Lan’s brow twitched, holding back his irritation.

If you can’t speak properly, don’t speak at all. What do you mean, “you fainted because your essence was too depleted”?

Seeing no response, Haowei hesitated and asked tentatively, “Are you having trouble moving?”

Si Lan clutched the blanket, struggling to keep his emotions in check. His body had been cleaned by magic, showing no traces and feeling no pain, so what inconvenience could there be?

He wanted to roar, to question, but felt it wasn’t worth making a fuss over such things. He lifted the blanket, revealing his head, and forced himself to speak gently, “Did you have a relapse last night?”

“…”

“That madness you get in your spiritual core.”

“No…” Haowei looked at him, puzzled.

“Oh, then why did you act like you lost your mind?” At that time, as soon as he opened his mouth, his voice was drowned out by Haowei’s actions, leaving him unable to say a complete word to stop him.

“…” Haowei.

Haowei cleared his throat and coaxed, “I told you before, a true dragon is different from other beings. If the essence isn’t completely released, it can cause a backlash in the body’s qi, damaging the meridians.”

Si Lan’s face clearly showed disbelief. He got out of bed without even looking at the bowl of dark medicine.

“No normal person could handle your condition. Fainting is natural, don’t listen to the doctor’s nonsense.”

“Alright…”

Though he agreed, Haowei still felt that Si Lan needed to replenish his energy. After all, he had lost so much blood on Yingzhou Island before, it was only natural for him to be weak. But this little wild chicken seemed unwilling to admit it.

Si Lan’s expression froze for a moment as if remembering something. Then he turned, glancing at Haowei’s lower body.

Although he had been somewhat disoriented, he had seen clearly that the scales around Haowei’s other “little Haowei” were missing. Before, when little Haowei appeared, that scale would automatically move aside like a door. But now there was nothing around, just faintly visible pale flesh.

Thinking of this, Si Lan’s gaze moved to the jade pendant at his waist, his face turning strangely red.

When he had initially received Haowei’s reverse scale, he had excitedly rubbed and examined it, even sniffed it. Now he wanted to die from embarrassment.

Luckily, he hadn’t bitten it to test its hardness back then.

Si Lan blushed deeply and asked, “Your… your reverse scale, where exactly is it from?”

Haowei saw his expression and knew Si Lan had seen it last night.

He felt embarrassed too. When Si Lan had asked for the reverse scale, he hadn’t wanted to give it, but seeing Si Lan’s determination, he had secretly plucked it when no one was around.

He had decided to never transform into a dragon again, planning to keep this secret forever. But yesterday, Si Lan had insisted he transform…

Haowei coughed lightly, awkwardly saying, “It’s exactly as you saw and thought.”

“…”

Si Lan had thought the reverse scale might be from Haowei’s chest or near his claws, never imagining it would be from such a hidden place.

He suddenly felt the thing hanging from his waist was scorching hot, his body stiffening, unsure whether to be angry or embarrassed.

“You…” After a long hesitation, he removed the “accessory” engraved with floating clouds and cranes from his waist. Holding it in his palm, it felt as heavy as gold, causing his arm to tremble slightly.

“Can you still reattach it?”

“I can. You don’t want it anymore?” Haowei said, his jaw tightening, eyes fixed intently on Si Lan.

Si Lan’s lips twitched. In a small voice, he said, “I didn’t know… I didn’t know it was your… um… so important to you. If I had known, I wouldn’t have asked for it.” He certainly wouldn’t have made it into an accessory to hang at his waist.

Just the thought of Haowei transforming into a white dragon, flying in the sky without that scale, made Si Lan blush even more.

“…” Haowei.

This was the first time someone referred to that scale as his underwear.

“Since you’ve already carved it into an accessory, just keep it.”

“No, no, I really didn’t know it was that important to you. I only asked for it out of willfulness,” Si Lan said, placing the scale back into Haowei’s hand, his face growing redder by the moment.

No wonder Haowei had such a strange expression when he asked for the reverse scale.

This person was willing to go as far as removing his scale and never showing his dragon form again just to fulfill his request. Si Lan had already received that heartfelt gesture. Nothing could be more precious than that sentiment.

Afraid that Haowei might refuse, Si Lan quickly added, “I don’t want it anymore. I’d like celestial wine as a token of betrothal instead. If you have the heart, use that instead.”

Celestial wine was abundant in the Heavenly Realm.

Why would Si Lan suddenly ask for this…

Haowei, understanding, clenched the scale tightly in his hand. “Alright.”

Si Lan didn’t know how Haowei convinced the Heavenly Realm gods, but they accepted the union between the Heavenly Realm and the Demon Realm.

Three days later, Haowei, accompanied by Yuwudao and eighteen other immortals, came to the Demon Realm to propose.

Eighteen days later, Haowei declared it a good day for marriage.

Si Lan felt it was too fast. Just as he was about to protest, his voice was drowned out and lost in his chest.

“Too fast? I’ll slow down then.”

“That’s not what I meant by slow.”

“Oh, then should I speed up?”

“…” Si Lan.

Thus, Si Lan, in a daze, agreed to marry Haowei.

To demonstrate the equality between the Heavenly and Demon Realms, the wedding ceremonies were held in both realms.

In the morning, it was held in the Demon Realm with just a few peak lords as witnesses, and everything went smoothly. However, in the Heavenly Realm, they encountered some issues.

In Yuqing Palace, with Taiwei deceased, Haowei’s mother had long secluded herself in Tai Xia Palace, half a recluse, not concerning herself with worldly matters. So, without any elders, the Goddess Mother presided over their wedding.

A wedding between two men was not much different from a traditional wedding between a man and a woman.

Both Si Lan and Haowei wore tailored red wedding attire, their faces radiating unique charm under the festive garments.

Si Lan, fair and clean, had a face like uncarved jade, exuding a gentle and harmless aura when he smiled. Haowei, on the other hand, looked like a cold mountain, his handsome and stern features resembling frost kissed by the morning mist.

Each holding one end of a red ribbon, they walked toward the high seat. The hall was filled with various immortals.

Though Si Lan didn’t look at them, he could sense the eyes on him, filled with confusion, shock, and even despair.

With sharp ears, he overheard the whispers of young immortals.

“The bride is so beautiful.”

“No wonder His Majesty insisted on marrying him…”

“Even someone as aloof as His Majesty has fallen…”

Si Lan pressed his lips together, pretending not to hear anything, and glanced sideways at Haowei. Haowei, sensing his gaze, looked back.

Both of them smiled.

On the high seat, the Goddess Mother, seeing their affectionate gazes, couldn’t help but smile. She stood up, about to speak, when a sharp cry from outside the hall rang out, piercing like a crane’s call.

“Stop!”

Everyone turned instinctively to see a group of seven-colored phoenixes descending slowly, transforming into beautiful women.

Leading them were two phoenix princesses, Ju Zhu and Qu Yu.

The Heavenly Realm had not invited the phoenix clan to this wedding.

So their sudden arrival caused the atmosphere to tense, with everyone’s gaze shifting between the phoenix clan and Si Lan and Haowei.

Haowei’s face turned cold as he signaled Yuwudao to remove them.

Yuwudao, leading heavenly soldiers, was about to act when Ju Zhu knelt before the Goddess Mother and quickly spoke, “Goddess Mother, I am here to expose his deceitful intentions towards the Heavenly Realm.” Ju Zhu pointed at Si Lan, instantly drawing all eyes to him.

Si Lan’s eyelids drooped, his face showing a hint of menace.

He knew Ju Zhu wouldn’t be content. It seemed she planned to ruin him on his wedding day. A cold smile played on his lips as he waited to see what she had in store.

The Goddess Mother was momentarily stunned, her mind racing as she recalled Haowei’s previous words: male, from the Demon Realm, and married three times.

The Divine Mother felt a pang in her heart. Given the situation, what could still be hidden?

“Ju Zhu, please speak.”

“Divine Mother, it is well known that years ago, Si Shaoxun broke off his engagement with our Divine Phoenix clan to marry a common bird. Later, they had a child, claiming this child was a Divine Phoenix. However, in reality, the child inherited his mother’s true form—he is nothing but a common bird.”

As Ju Zhu spoke, she sneered at Si Lan, hoping to see him embarrassed and panicked. However, Si Lan’s expression remained unchanged, which made Ju Zhu think he was just pretending to be calm.

“Ju Zhu, where did you hear this? Is it reliable?” The Divine Mother asked slowly, her expression unchanging.

“Divine Mother, I learned this from his subordinates, Lu Zhijun and Li Qing. He has been in the Demon Realm for over a thousand years and has never shown his true Divine Phoenix form. Someone even saw him revealing grey feathers, resembling a common bird.”

Ju Zhu continued, “The Divine Phoenix undergoes nirvana using the Glass Purifying Fire. If he truly is a Divine Phoenix, he wouldn’t fear this fire. Let him walk through the Glass Purifying Fire, and the truth will be revealed.”

Hearing this, Haowei’s expression changed slightly. Though Yujia was the ancestor of the phoenixes, he didn’t know if Yujia feared the Glass Purifying Fire. He had never publicly disclosed Si Lan’s true form as Yujia, fearing it would attract the greed of the Six Realms.

Though they were the rulers of the Heavenly and Demon Realms, hidden dangers were harder to guard against than open threats. Si Lan could easily become a target.

Thus, he had hidden Yujia’s true form to eliminate the threat at its root. If Si Lan must walk through the fire today, it might be better to directly reveal that he is the last Yujia in the world.

The Divine Mother remained silent, her gaze falling on Si Lan for a moment before turning to Haowei with a subtle expression.

In the grand hall, the immortals all looked at Haowei with a similar subtlety.

Haowei was about to speak, but Si Lan spoke first, “If I successfully walk through the Glass Purifying Fire, what will Princess Ju Zhu do?”

Ju Zhu was certain Si Lan was not a Divine Phoenix. In their two encounters, she hadn’t felt the Divine Phoenix’s pressure from him, whereas the first time she met Si Shaoxun, she couldn’t help but dance and present herself to him.

Confidently, Ju Zhu replied, “I am willing to let you decide my fate.”

“You are a Divine Phoenix princess. I dare not decide your fate lightly. How about this: both of us walk through the Glass Purifying Fire together, what do you say?”

Ju Zhu’s face turned strange, not understanding Si Lan’s intention. As a Divine Phoenix, the Glass Purifying Fire was nothing to her. Why would he want her to go through it as well?

Seeing her silence, the immortals began to murmur.

“This seems fair, both go through it together.”

“Since it’s fair, why is the Divine Phoenix princess hesitating? Perhaps…”

Hearing the discussions, Ju Zhu’s face darkened, and she immediately agreed, “Fine.”

Haowei looked at Si Lan, his brows slightly furrowed, silently questioning him.

Si Lan nodded at him reassuringly. Haowei still felt worried and wanted to transfer a bit of his aura to Si Lan to help him. Sensing his intention, Si Lan comforted him through their mental connection.

“Haowei, I’m really fine. If you transfer your aura to me, the immortals in the hall will notice, and it will only confirm the claim that I’m not a phoenix.”

“Are you really not afraid of the Glass Purifying Fire?”

“Mm.” Si Lan blinked. “Did you forget? I still have a pair of phoenix wings. If the fire comes at me, I’ll use my wings to block it.”

Haowei said no more, but his facial muscles remained tense.

Soon, an immortal servant brought in the Glass Purifying Furnace.

The furnace’s blazing flames emitted intense heat, occasionally spouting through the gaps—these were the Glass Purifying Fire.

Ordinary beings couldn’t get close to this fire; even touching the furnace by accident would result in their soul being destroyed.

Ju Zhu stood up, glanced contemptuously at Si Lan, and said, “I’ll go first.”

With that, Ju Zhu transformed into a red spot and leapt into the furnace through a gap.

Si Lan followed suit and jumped into the furnace.

Everyone held their breath, waiting outside. Haowei tried to maintain a calm demeanor, his gaze fixed on the furnace.

He couldn’t see inside, so he reached out with his mind to contact Si Lan, but no matter how much he called, there was no response.

Anxiety filled Haowei as he stood up. Suddenly, the furnace lid shook, releasing sparks of fire.

In the next moment, a pitch-black, charred bird was thrown out of the furnace.

Chapter 75 – Strange reversal

Chapter 75

Haowei reached out to fasten Si Lan’s belt, his face tense as he asked, “What’s he doing here?”

“He was scared after the incident at Linglong Mountain last time and couldn’t sleep at night, so he came here to sleep with me.” Si Lan sat up from the bed, but after this disturbance, any trace of sleepiness had vanished.

Haowei’s expression remained dark. “He’s already grown up. Why is he still sharing a bed with you?”

Before Si Lan could reply, Xie Li, still nestled under the covers, mumbled in protest, “Even you, Your Highness, sleep with the Emperor.”

“…” Haowei fell silent.

Si Lan stifled a laugh and gently patted Xie Li’s shoulder under the blanket. “Enough, Xie Li. Go to sleep. It’s still early.”

“Mmm.” Xie Li hugged Si Lan’s thigh from under the covers, his body curled up, forming a shape on the bedsheet that Haowei found annoyingly conspicuous, like a plump and bothersome maggot.

Si Lan communicated with Haowei through spiritual sense, “You go rest in the next room. I’ll stay with Xie Li tonight.”

“Or wait until he falls asleep and then come find me,” Haowei replied gravely, his eyes meeting Si Lan’s with an implicit meaning.

Si Lan’s face turned slightly red as he teased, “What’s this? Are you also haunted by psychological shadows from Linglong Mountain?”

“…” Haowei remained silent.

Haowei had originally wanted to say that he had rushed tirelessly from the mortal realm to the Demon Realm just to see him, wanting to spend more time together. But seeing the faint dark circles under Si Lan’s eyes, he simply said, “Forget it. You should rest early too.”

Instead of going to sleep in the adjacent room, Haowei stood under the eaves, gazing into the distance towards the Peak of Drifting Clouds. The quiet night enveloped him completely. He listened to the sounds of turning over and breathing from the palace, a faint smile curling his lips.

After Quze finished his meditation, not finding Xie Li in his room and thinking Xie Li might have come here to find Si Lan, he hurried over. Under the eaves stood a tall and graceful figure, exuding an extraordinary aura. Even without seeing the person’s face clearly, Quze already knew who it was.

Quze didn’t expect Haowei to stand under the eaves, standing there all night, keeping watch over Si Lan.

Quze stood on the other side of the main hall, also keeping vigil throughout the night.

The next morning, Si Lan suddenly felt short of breath, a dull ache in his chest. In a semi-awake state, he had a dream where Yu Wuxia was choking him, smiling as he informed him that the Five-pointed Nine-sky Formation had already been activated, and the Six Realms were destroyed; now all living beings had turned into identical monsters.

He woke up abruptly, gasping for breath. When he lowered his head, he realized Xie Li was sprawled across his chest, pressing on his chest and making it hard to breathe.

Xie Li himself was sound asleep, lips parted, leaving a puddle of drool on Si Lan’s inner robe.

“…” Si Lan sighed helplessly, gently setting Xie Li aside and not bothering to put on his outer robe, lazily stretching as he walked out.

Pushing the door open, he saw a figure in white standing under the eaves.

Not knowing how long he had been standing there, a faint layer of dampness had settled on his shoulders. His handsome face was veiled by the faint morning mist. Upon hearing the door open, his long lashes fluttered before he turned his head to look at him.

“You didn’t sleep all night?” Si Lan exclaimed in surprise.

“I closed my eyes for a while.” Haowei noticed Si Lan had only come out in his inner robe and cautioned, “Be careful, it’s chilly.” He intended to dr4p3 his own clothes over Si Lan’s shoulders, but recalling the cold morning dew that had soaked through his clothes, he instead took Si Lan’s hand and led him inside.

On the bed, Xie Li was still deeply asleep, turning over.

Haowei glanced at Xie Li with a deep look in his eyes, mentally noting Xie Li’s presence, then quietly helped Si Lan into his clothes. Si Lan’s gaze fell and he noticed the other’s Adam’s apple, slightly protruding on his neck, rising and falling with his speech.

Haowei’s Adam’s apple was more prominent, prompting Si Lan to unconsciously reach out and touch it.

Haowei’s breath caught, his eyelids lowering. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s hard,” Si Lan poked at it with his fingertip.

Haowei’s throat moved, his swallowing action somehow unexpectedly sensual. He grasped Si Lan’s wandering hand and placed a silver-white scale into Si Lan’s palm.

Si Lan was momentarily stunned, pinching the scale and examining it. The scale was translucent like jade, shaped like a leaf, exceptionally beautiful.

He tentatively asked, “Could this… be your reverse scale?”

“Mm.” Haowei’s voice lowered slightly.

As Si Lan touched the scale, he felt a faint coolness between his fingers. Glancing back at Haowei, he noticed an odd expression on his face, a blush creeping up from the roots of his ears.

When he brought the scale up to his nose to sniff, the blush on Haowei’s ears seemed to erupt like a volcano, spreading lava over his entire face, reddening his skin and even tinting his eyes with a hint of crimson.

“Si Lan.” Haowei suddenly spoke up, as if afraid Si Lan would do something strange.

Puzzled, Si Lan asked, “What’s wrong? Why are you blushing?”

Haowei tried to explain, “Just feeling a bit warm.”

Si Lan glanced at the scene outside the window. It was deep autumn, with heavy morning dew. How could it be warm? Suspicious, he asked, “Is there something wrong with this scale? Is it really your reverse scale?” Otherwise, why would his face inexplicably turn red?

“Of course. I wouldn’t lie to you.”

Whenever Haowei needed to emphasize his tone, he would use “I” instead of “me,” as if highlighting his noble status. Such a noble status naturally wouldn’t tell lies or do dishonest things.

Si Lan continued, “Oh, you didn’t lie to me. But why are you blushing nervously?”

“This isn’t nervousness.”

“Then what is it?” Si Lan asked, still fingering the scale.

Haowei glanced at the scale, the corner of his mouth subtly tensing. His voice involuntarily lowered, “It’s really just hot weather.”

“…” Si Lan.

Forget it, he didn’t want to ask anymore, and he didn’t want to say anything else.

Si Lan walked to the window, held up the scale in the bright light, and continued to examine it. It didn’t seem much different from any other scale. Why was this one considered a reverse scale?

Behind him, Haowei, seeing his reaction, parted his lips, his face nearly blushing to the point of bleeding.

Si Lan murmured to himself, “I think I’ll carve this scale into an accessory and wear it around my waist.”

Seeing Haowei still silent, Si Lan asked, “What do you think?”

Haowei lowered his voice and said, “Since I’ve given this thing to you, you can handle it however you want.”

Si Lan noticed that Haowei had been acting strangely since he received the scale. When Si Lan asked him about it, Haowei refused to say anything more, so Si Lan didn’t press further.

He carved the scale into the shape of a floating immortal crane, drilled a hole through it, threaded it with red silk, and wore it around his waist. When he showed it to Haowei, Haowei blushed and said, “It looks good.”

Beaming with delight, he plucked a rainbow feather from one of the tail feathers and gave it to Haowei. Holding the feather, Haowei suddenly recalled an ancient record about “Yujia,” one of which mentioned that when Yujia met his beloved, he would pluck rainbow feathers from his tail and give them to the other person until he was bare.

The image of that bird with its tail completely bare couldn’t help but make him smile involuntarily, and he reached out to ruffle Si Lan’s hair.

Meanwhile, they were discussing the details of the alliance between the Demon and Celestial Realms, while in the shadows, those dark and twisted figures were also beginning to stir.

The Phoenix Clan feared that after the alliance between the Demon and Celestial Realms, they wouldn’t be able to handle Si Lan, so they were scheming to sabotage the union.

Ju Zhu privately believed that one reason Haowei was interested in Si Lan was because he mistakenly thought Si Lan’s true form was a Divine Phoenix. If Si Lan’s true identity as a mere chicken were exposed, Haowei would never accept marrying someone who was just a chicken.

Even if, by some chance, Haowei truly loved him and accepted him as a chicken, the Heavenly Mother and other celestial beings would not agree and would surely try to stop the marriage.

At that time, the Phoenix Clan would bring up how Si Lan had harmed the Phoenix Clan and injured two princesses, ensuring that this chicken would meet a miserable end.

If the Heavenly Realm didn’t support Si Lan, it would be much easier for the Phoenix Clan to deal with him secretly.

“Auntie, when do we expose that chicken?” Qu Yu couldn’t wait to ask.

Before Si Lan appeared, the most suitable person for Haowei in the Six Realms was Qu Yu.

Even the Heavenly Mother had intended to bring Qu Yu and Haowei together, so Qu Yu had long positioned herself as Haowei’s supporter, often visiting the Jade Palace and trying to please Haowei with soups and congees. However, she never expected to be intercepted halfway by such a lowly and humble chicken.

Such a lowly creature, not even worthy of licking the Phoenix Clan’s toes, how dare it snatch her beloved? How dare it overshadow their Phoenix Clan?

Ju Zhu leaned against her high seat, her hand propping up half of her face, slowly scraping her cheek with her long, golden nails, and sneered, “We must make sure he faces eternal damnation at his proudest moment, never to rise again.”

“That means I’ll follow Auntie’s lead in everything,” Qu Yu chuckled.

Si Lan suddenly sneezed, awakening from his drowsiness within the misty hot spring pool. Feeling like someone had been talking behind his back, he nudged Haowei beside him with his foot. “Were you muttering about me just now?”

Haowei, half resigned and half indulgent, replied, “I can’t help but think of you.”

Si Lan smirked, his hands resting on the pool rocks, feeling the warm mist enveloping him. Haowei mentioned that although he wasn’t visibly injured, his cultivation had declined significantly, and his spiritual energy was weakened. He advised Si Lan to soak more in the hot springs to recuperate.

After a few days of soaking, Si Lan indeed felt much more comfortable.

However, strangely, he hadn’t seen Haowei reveal his dragon tail in the hot spring pool again. Previously, whenever Haowei bathed, he would always flaunt his huge dragon tail, as if deliberately showing off, and even used it to help Si Lan “scrub.”

Now he seemed more reserved, which made Si Lan feel something was amiss.

Could it be that his charm had waned? Was that why Haowei could control himself?

Through the damp mist, Si Lan discreetly observed Haowei.

After Haowei said those words just now, he closed his eyes again, quietly soaking in the bath. The misty steam formed faint ripples on his face, slowly descending along his eyebrows, eyes, and nose.

Si Lan’s gaze lowered, lingering on Haowei’s muscular and well-defined chest, making him swallow nervously. Why not try, to see if his charm had truly diminished?

Si Lan pretended to casually get up, causing a splash of water. Haowei looked up at the sound, and as Si Lan bent his knees to step out of the pool, he slipped suddenly and fell into Haowei’s arms.

Haowei swiftly embraced his waist, his voice deep, “Careful.”

Si Lan, seizing the opportunity, clasped the back of Haowei’s neck, causing Haowei’s body to stiffen.

“Ah, I feel so dizzy. Maybe I’ve been in the bath too long and feel a bit unwell.”

Upon hearing this, Haowei reached out to touch Si Lan’s head. His skin was a bit warm, but not feverish, and when he checked Si Lan’s spiritual energy, he still didn’t notice anything wrong, so he advised, “Next time, don’t get up so suddenly.”

“Mm,” Si Lan nodded, resting his head on Haowei’s shoulder. The breath from his nostrils gently brushed against Haowei’s ear, and Si Lan noticed Haowei’s ears turning slightly red.

It seemed he could still make him shy.

But how…

Lost in thought, Si Lan shifted slightly, and Haowei’s slightly hoarse voice sounded in his ear, “Are you doing this on purpose?”

“Huh?” Si Lan blinked innocently at Haowei.

Even though Haowei’s eyes were obscured by steam, they were still as dark as ever, staring unwaveringly at his face. Seeing his innocent look, Haowei said with a hint of concealment but deliberately coughed lightly, trying to appear composed, “Don’t move.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Si Lan felt something was wrong and his face turned slightly red.

But strangely, Haowei’s dragon horns were exposed on his forehead, but still no dragon tail. Normally, Haowei would show his dragon tail first, then his dragon horns.

Si Lan tentatively asked, “How come you didn’t show your dragon tail today?”

Haowei pursed his lips, his earlobes almost dripping with blood, his voice distinctively tinged with concealment but deliberately coughed lightly, trying to appear composed, “You complained last time that the scales on the dragon tail were too cold, so I stopped showing it.”

Si Lan nodded faintly, his gaze wandering over Haowei’s face for a moment before gradually drifting downwards, separated by the rippling water surface. “But I suddenly feel like seeing your dragon tail.”

Haowei’s voice suddenly became hoarse. “Don’t joke around.”

“…Huh? How is that joking?”

What could possibly be wrong with looking at his dragon tail now?

Haowei seemed about to pull Si Lan down, but Si Lan stubbornly refused to budge.

The warm steam raised the temperature around them by a few degrees, intensifying the fragrance emanating from Si Lan.

Haowei’s breathing became erratic, his grip on Si Lan’s hand unconsciously tightening, leaving bruises.

A misty haze enveloped them, like soft silk sticking closely together, their slightly heavy breaths mingling.

Haowei looked at Si Lan with red eyes. “Are you really not coming down? Don’t blame me if you don’t come down.”

“Haowei, do you… not like me anymore?” Si Lan suddenly asked with a heavy tone.

Before, it was always Haowei who was clingy, but now it seemed like Si Lan was the one unwilling to let go of Haowei.

Haowei was momentarily stunned by this question, his expression momentarily blank. Had he unintentionally made Si Lan feel this way? Did he seem like he didn’t like him?

He hoarsely replied, “Of course not.”

“Then why won’t you let me see your dragon tail? You used to… deliberately show it when I was bathing.”

Upon hearing the complaint in Si Lan’s tone, Haowei’s heart felt like it was being crushed and kneaded into a ball, unable to resist pulling Si Lan into his arms tightly.

He hadn’t shown his dragon tail lately because…

After a moment of contemplation, his ears turned red as he coaxed Si Lan, “Then I’ll show you my dragon tail.”

As he spoke, silver scales slowly emerged from Haowei’s waist downwards. Unlike before, it didn’t intentionally grow several times larger, but this time it matched Haowei’s figure.

Si Lan lowered his eyes to examine it and found nothing unusual. He had thought there might be a problem with why Haowei didn’t want to show his dragon tail…

Could it be that he was overthinking it?

Just as he was about to turn around to take a closer look at the dragon tail, Haowei suddenly adjusted his head.

“Si Lan, I originally planned to wait until the day of our covenant… but since you’re so eager, then…”

He whispered the last four words in Si Lan’s ear.

“…” Si Lan.

“Haowei… Haowei… Mmm…”

Amidst the faint steam from the hot spring, Si Lan’s voice occasionally echoed.

After what felt like an eternity, he tried to say something to Haowei, but not even a complete word came out.

In a daze, he thought to himself, how foolish he was. Just for a reversed scale, he had sold himself out.

As he drifted into unconsciousness, his head plunging into the water, he suddenly realized that Haowei had been maintaining his lower body in the form of a dragon…

How could this be so despicable?

And it was with this glance that Si Lan noticed something unusual.

The silver scales that had previously covered another part of him were gone…

How could they… be gone?
