Chapter 53

When Chen Yuncheng woke up the next morning, he saw that Ning Junyan hadn’t woken up yet. He rarely saw Ning Junyan sleeping in. Ning Junyan had probably drunk too much last night.

He went out to buy breakfast for Ning Junyan and came back. He sat alone at the dining table for a while, thinking that he didn’t know how to face Ning Junyan later, so he packed up early and went out.

It also happened to be a coincidence that when Chen Yuncheng went out, the couple who looked after the shop called him that day, expressing their agreement to his rent conditions and willingness to rent the shop.

It took Chen Yuncheng a whole morning to handle the subleasing of the shop, as he only had to contact the landlord of the shop and sign the sublease contract since he only sublease it.

After working until noon, Chen Yuncheng finally recovered the one year rent he had paid in advance.

After he received the money, he planned to transfer it to Ning Junyan to pay off his debt first, together with the money for the returned goods. He sent a message to Ning Junyan asking for his account information, but Ning Junyan didn’t say anything and quickly sent it to him.

Chen Yuncheng stood by the roadside, taking one last look at the small kiosk he had lived in and run for two years and was about to turn around to leave when he saw the little girl who had stolen something at the intersection looking at him not far away.

“Come here,” Chen Yuncheng bent down and waved to the little girl.

The little girl looked at him warily but walked over obediently.

“Is your kiosk closed?” Before Chen Yuncheng could speak, the little girl asked him first.

Chen Yuncheng said, “Yes, there will be no more bread for you in the future.”

The expression on the little girl’s face was a bit indifferent, and when she heard Chen Yuncheng’s words, she just let out a faint “oh”.

Chen Yuncheng asked her, “What’s your name?”

       The little girl didn’t answer.

Chen Yuncheng asked patiently again, “Do you have a family? Who told you to come out and steal things?”

Hearing this, the little girl immediately took two steps back.

Chen Yuncheng said, “Don’t be nervous, I just want to ask, is the person who let you out to steal something, your family?”

The little girl still didn’t answer him.

Chen Yuncheng had no choice but took out a hundred dollars from his pocket and handed it to her.

The little girl looked at it for a long time and did not take it.

Chen Yuncheng put the money in her hand, and whispered to her, “You take it secretly and use it secretly, buy something for yourself when you are hungry, don’t tell others, you understand?”

The little girl looked down at the money in her hand.

Chen Yuncheng added, “I know you are afraid to tell me because you are scared, but if those people force you out to steal things, you can go and tell the police.” After he finished speaking, he raised his finger to the intersection, “Look at the man in the hat and yellow vest, he’s a policeman.”

The little girl followed him and turned to look over.

Chen Yuncheng was referring to a traffic policeman who was directing traffic at the intersection.

“Don’t be afraid, when the police catch the bad guys, no one can hurt you,” Chen Yuncheng patted her head like he was stroking himself when he was a child.

The little girl turned and left with the money.

Chen Yuncheng looked at her thin back, sighed after a long time, took out his mobile phone and called Guan Anlin.

Guan Anlin had recently found a job in a car repair shop. When Chen Yuncheng called him, he was busy and asked Chen Yuncheng to have lunch together.

Chen Yuncheng went to the car repair shop where Guan Anlin worked, and asked a young worker at the door who was polishing the car where Guan Anlin was. The young worker reached out and pointed to a black car inside.

A man was working underneath the car, with only one pair of legs sticking out from underneath.

Chen Yuncheng walked over and kicked the leg protruding from under the car, and soon saw Guan Anlin slipping out from the bottom of the car, holding a wrench soaked in engine oil in his hand.

Guan Anlin was wearing an orange work uniform of a car repair shop, with a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He glanced at Chen Yuncheng and said, “Two minutes.” Then he got in again.

Chen Yuncheng ended up waiting for nearly fifteen minutes before Guan Anlin took off his uniform jacket and put on his own black cotton-padded jacket with orange work pants, and went to have lunch nearby with Chen Yuncheng.

Guan Anlin’s hair had grown a bit compared to when he was just released from prison, but it was still short, and his cyan scalp could be seen.

Chen Yuncheng looked at his hair and suddenly remembered that he had been thinking about cutting his hair for a long time. He thought that if he had a short haircut like Guan Anlin’s, Ning Junyan wouldn’t be able to grab his hair and forcefully kiss him like he did last night.

Guan Anlin handed him the bowl and chopsticks, and asked him, “Why are you in a daze?”

Chen Yuncheng shook his head, “How’s your work?”

“Just like that,” Guan Anlin said, “Otherwise, I will deliver the takeout. I won’t starve to death. “

Chen Yuncheng asked, “How about Chinese New Year? What are your plans?”

Guan Anlin stared at the table in a daze. He had ordered three dishes, but since it was the best time for business at noon, none of the dishes had been served, and he said, “I have ten days off, I want to go home.”

Unlike Chen Yuncheng, Guan Anlin has a family. He had parents in his hometown in the countryside and a younger sister in high school.

“I have a friend who has opened a shop in the new trade market in the north of the city, wholesaling cigarettes, alcohol and drinks, he asked me to help him manage the shop. Are you interested in doing it with me when you come back after the New Year?” Chen Yuncheng asked.

Guan Anlin looked at him, “Look after the shop?”

Chen Yuncheng said, “There might be deliveries to customers as well, the specific work arrangement can be discussed.”

       Guan Anlin didn’t answer.

Chen Yuncheng said, “There’s no rush, the shop over there is not yet renovated anyway, you can go back and think about it slowly during the Chinese New Year.”

The dishes they ordered finally came, and the two of them sat on the roadside, at a small square table, with two dishes and a bowl of soup on it.

Guan Anlin asked the boss to serve the rice directly.

He held the bowl of rice and asked Chen Yuncheng, “I told you to come and live with me earlier, but you didn’t intend to come?”

Chen Yuncheng gave a vague “En”, “I’m fine with my friend’s place now.”

“What does your friend do?” Guan Anlin asked.

Chen Yuncheng answered him, “A doctor.”

Guan Anlin said, “Are doctors that rich now? Received a lot of red envelopes, eh?”

Chen Yuncheng looked up at him, “His family already has money, so don’t be hostile to him.”

Guan Anlin snorted disdainfully, “How do you know that kind of doctor whose family is already rich? I haven’t heard you mention it before.”

Chen Yuncheng hesitated and said, “He’s just like Zhou Yan.”

Guan Anlin didn’t understand, and asked strangely, “What just like Zhou Yan mean?”

Chen Yuncheng said, “How I know Zhou Yan is how I know him.”

Guan Anlin froze. He heard Chen Yuncheng briefly talk about his childhood experience, but he didn’t expect that besides Zhou Yan, there would be other people who had experienced the same thing as Chen Yuncheng. He subconsciously asked, “Trafficked?”

       Chen Yuncheng nodded.

Guan Anlin didn’t say anything more and scooped a spoonful of chicken rice and sprouts into a bowl, mixed it with chopsticks and lowered his head to take a big bite of rice, before saying again after a while, not quite willingly, “So it’s still not the same as us people.”

“What’s the difference?” Chen Yuncheng asked him.

Guan Anlin said, “He’s different in your heart, just like Zhou Yan. He’s always more important to you.”

Chen Yuncheng didn’t answer his words.

After they finished eating and drinking half a bowl of soup, Chen Yuncheng felt a little hot, so he unbuttoned a few buttons on his neckline.

Guan Anlin put down the bowl and stared at his neck in a daze.

Chen Yuncheng didn’t notice it at first until Guan Anlin first asked him, “You got a girlfriend?”

       “What?” Chen Yuncheng was puzzled.

Guan Anlin pointed to his neck.

Chen Yuncheng raised his hand and touched his neck, but he still didn’t understand what Guan Anlin meant.

Guan Anlin said impatiently, “If you didn’t have a woman biting on your neck, did a mosquito bite on it? There can still be mosquitoes these days?1just a reminder that they are in the middle of winter

Chen Yuncheng suddenly remembered Ning Junyan’s deep kiss on his neck last night and blushed. He was at a loss and wanted to pull up his collar to cover it, but felt that it was too unnatural.

Guan Anlin said, “Why are you blushing? If you have a girlfriend, you have a girlfriend. You are about that age too.”

“It’s not like that,” Chen Yuncheng denied without thinking.

Guan Anlin asked him, “Then what is it? You’re going to go to a prostitute?”

Chen Yuncheng had no way to explain to him, so he could only say, “No.”

Guan Anlin didn’t press on. He picked up the bowl and took a sip of the soup, disliking that it was a bit bland, put the bowl down and said, “I was going to introduce my sister to you.”

Chen Yuncheng said, “Are you crazy? How old is your sister!”

Guan Anlin seemed a little depressed, to be in a somewhat depressed mood, “Yes, it would be nice if my sister was older.”

After lunch, Guan Anlin rushed to pay the bill.

When they parted, Guan Anlin asked Chen Yuncheng, “What are your plans for the New Year?” He knew that Chen Yuncheng had no family.

       Chen Yuncheng said, “We’ll see.”

Guan Anlin asked him, “Do you want to go back to my hometown with me?”

       “What for?”

       “Meet my sister.”

“Get the fvck out of here,” Chen Yuncheng cursed, “No, go back by yourself.”

Guan Anlin was not angry, and waved his hand at him, “I’ll contact you before I leave.”

Chen Yuncheng replied, “Okay, work hard.”

The two separated at the intersection, and Guan Anlin, dressed in a strange outfit, slowly walked towards the car repair shop.

Chen Yuncheng stood by the side of the road for a while and decided to get a haircut.

He found a small barber shop on the side of the road, where a wash, cut and blow-dry only cost fifteen yuan, and said to the barber, “Cut it short.”

The barber asked him, “How short?”

Chen Yuncheng recalled Guan Anlin’s short inches where he could see his scalp and said, “Just a little shorter, a length that fingers can’t hold.”

The barber glanced at him in the mirror and asked curiously, “Are you afraid that someone will pull your hair out in a fight?”

Chen Yuncheng said silently in his heart: I’m afraid of being pulled by the hair and forcibly kissed. But he looked in the mirror, smiled and nodded to the barber, “Yes.”

It was only after three o’clock in the afternoon when he finished the haircut. Chen Yuncheng wandered outside for almost a day and had nowhere else to go, so he took the subway back.

When he entered, he saw that the living room was empty, so he took a lighter step and walked to the door of Ning Junyan’s room. When he saw that the door was ajar, he stretched out his hand and opened a crack to peek inside, and saw that the bed was still neatly made, but the sheets seemed to have been changed.

       “Looking for me?”

Chen Yuncheng was about to turn around when a voice suddenly came from behind him, and he was so frightened that he pressed his whole body against the wall, his heart beating violently, and then he saw Ning Junyan behind him.

Ning Junyan was wearing a white sweater and light brown casual trousers, holding a cup of coffee in his hand, looking quiet and relaxed. He put the coffee to his lips, took a sip, and kept staring at Chen Yuncheng.

Chen Yuncheng said, “What are you doing?”

Ning Junyan’s eyes fell on the top of his head, “Did you cut your hair?”

When Chen Yuncheng heard this, he raised his hand and touched it. Under the prickly short hair was a soft scalp. He said “En”, “Didn’t you say it should be cut?”

Ning Junyan said indifferently, “Well, that’s sexy.”

Chen Yuncheng’s hand that was touching his hair froze.

Chapter 32

Shen Huiming and Suo Yang laughed as the hairdresser kicked them out. They stood at the door, and Shen Huiming turned back and waved to the people inside.

The hairstylist stomped his foot hard and then turned around and went back to his work.

When Shen Huiming looked away, he found that Suo Yang was looking at him, and asked, “What’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing, I just think he cut it well.”

“Does that mean that I’m quite handsome now?”

Suo Yang smiled, “Yes, very handsome.”

Shen Huiming suddenly discovered that being happy was such a simple thing. Being praised by someone you like could make you feel good all day long.

“Let’s go.” As the two of them walked towards the parking place, Shen Huiming asked, “Are you hungry? What time do you plan to have lunch?”

Suo Yang hugged the eternal flower bear in his arms, and sang a song: “Romance is not a warm dinner…”

Shen Huiming heard Suo Yang sing for the first time, and asked, “Is it true that people with good voices also sing well?”

“Aren’t you focusing on the wrong thing?” The two walked to the side of the car, Suo Yang opened the door and sat in, put the bear on his lap, waited for Shen Huiming to get into the car and said, “The point shouldn’t be…”

       “Romance?”

Shen Huiming’s unexpected joke made Suo Yang laugh out loud.

       “Whatever.”

“Don’t just neglect me,” Shen Huiming started the car and said in a good mood, “Romance is a matter between two people.”

Suo Yang didn’t retort, nor did he know what to say, so he simply stopped talking, and looked down thoughtfully to fiddle with the eternal flowers.

Shen Huiming turned on the stereo in the car, and deliberately found the song that Suo Yang sang just now.

He was not a person who listened to songs very often, but it just so happened that he had liked this song a lot.

[Love does not stop, how brave it takes to go to the end of time.]

It really took a lot of courage for a person to be willing to part with half of their world to exchange it with another person.

Shen Huiming drove his car and arrived at his company’s downstairs within a few minutes.

Suo Yang asked, “What are you doing here?”

Shen Huiming turned off the stereo and unfastened his seat belt, “I just remembered something, I need to go back to the company to deal with it, just a few minutes, will you accompany me up?”

Suo Yang wanted to refuse, but Shen Huiming didn’t give him a chance to refuse: “Come on, come up and have a cup of coffee, it was sent by Tongyan a while ago.”

Suo Yang smiled when he heard Jiang Tongyan’s name.

He put the Immortal Flower Bear in the back seat and got out of the car.

“Does Mr. Jiang know that we are dating?” Suo Yang deliberately asked as he followed Shen Huiming to the office building.

“If you haven’t told him, then he shouldn’t know yet.” Shen Huiming said, “However if you don’t mind, we can give him a surprise.”

       “A surprise?”

“Well,” Shen Huiming pushed open the revolving door and led Suo Yang inside, “When you fly to New York next time, I’ll join you. Won’t it be a surprise if we both hold hands to meet him?”

“…I’m afraid it would frighten him instead?” Suo Yang smiled helplessly, “It’s better not to mess with him.”

The two entered the elevator, and Shen Huiming looked at Suo Yang through the mirror of the elevator.

       “You didn’t refute.”

       “What?” Suo Yang didn’t understand.

“I just said that the two of us went to see him hand in hand.” Shen Huiming turned around, “You acquiescence?”

Suo Yang finally found out that Shen Huiming was actually quite good at teasing people.

“I didn’t hear that one.” He said deliberately not following the other party’s idea like a child throwing a tantrum.

Shen Huiming liked to see Suo Yang like this, throwing a little temper, which was much cuter than being polite in a standard way.

The elevator door opened, and as soon as he walked out, he came straight to the front desk of Shen Huiming’s company.

“Mr. Shen!” The girl at the front desk saw that it was Shen Huiming and stood up to greet him.

Shen Huiming responded with a smile and led Suo Yang to his office.

       “This floor is all yours?”

“I rented it.” Shen Huiming was very calm, “I can’t afford it.”

Suo Yang smiled, “To be honest, I always thought you relied on your family’s background to get your business going before.”

When the two of them arrived at the door of Shen Huiming’s office, the assistant heard the sound and poked his head out from the office next to them.

“Mr. Shen? Aren’t you not coming today?”

“Something came up,” Shen Huiming opened the office door and let Suo Yang in. “An Jie, make a cup of coffee and bring it here.”

       “Okay!”

The assistant went to make coffee, and when Shen Huiming entered the room, obviously nothing was wrong, but he still had to pretend to be busy for a few minutes.

Suo Yang said, “Really, there is no need to trouble yourself.”

“That won’t work,” Shen Huiming walked behind his desk, pretending to rummage through it, but actually acting on purpose, “It’s rare for you to come here, so I have to take care of you.”

Sometimes, for some people, it was really easy to make a fool of themselves in trying to be smart.

Shen Huiming originally only wanted to come to the office and take Suo Yang around the company, which was to let the other party have a brief look at his workplace. But to his surprise, an important phone call really came, and the call took half an hour.

Shen Huiming’s assistant brought coffee and put it on the tea table in front of Suo Yang, and greeted him politely.

Suo Yang said softly, “Thank you, don’t worry about me, you should go back to work.”

The assistant didn’t know his relationship with Suo Yang, so he just regarded him as a friend, and said with a smile, “I still have something to do, so I’ll go take care of it first, call me anytime if you need anything.”

Suo Yang nodded to him with a smile, then looked at Shen Huiming who was standing by the window talking on the phone.

This was not the first time he saw Shen Huiming at work. When they first met, the other party had spent almost the whole night reading documents on the plane.

Shen Huiming was very busy, Suo Yang had always known that but the difference in the profession makes one feel worlds apart. He didn’t understand Shen Huiming’s projects, and he had never worked in such a workplace, and he still couldn’t imagine how Shen Huiming would look in the company.

       Now, he saw it.

From the morning’s trip to the lake in the park to this moment, Suo Yang felt as if he had quickly skimmed through Shen Huiming’s thirty years, of childhood, and adolescence, and now, from youthful to graceful, it seemed that Suo Yang had never lacked class.

Shen Huiming was dressed casually, but when talking with the other people, he still had the poise air surrounding him.

Calm and wise. They chatted about topics that Suo Yang couldn’t understand, but Suo Yang still looked at Shen Huiming in a daze.

He liked smart people. Really smart people not only had high intelligence, but also had fascinating emotional intelligence.

Shen Huiming’s ability to support such a large company by himself at a young age was enough to show how good this person was.

Suo Yang picked up the coffee and took a sip.

The aroma was rich and mellow, with a long aftertaste.

It was a bit like Shen Huiming’s feelings for him.

Perhaps because of his work, the last thing Suo Yang had ever lacked was patience. He was used to waiting; waiting for passengers to board, waiting for take off, waiting for landing, and now, waiting for Shen Huiming to look at him after he was busy.

Drinking coffee and waiting for the other party, turned out to be a kind of enjoyment.

Shen Huiming was actually a little anxious, he was afraid that Suo Yang would get impatient after waiting for a long time, but if the work matter was not handled properly, he probably wouldn’t be able to rest for the remaining ten hours or so today, so he had to deal with the other party, and finally got it done.

When he hung up the phone, he breathed a sigh of relief, rubbed his brows, and turned to look at Suo Yang.

The person on the sofa looked at him with a smile and said to him, “Your coffee has gotten cold.”

Shen Huiming came over, sat down beside him, and found that Suo Yang’s cup was empty.

He took a sip, and the taste of the cold coffee changed when it was in his mouth. He did not continue to drink it, but asked Suo Yang, “Did you wait long?”

“No.” Suo Yang got up and went to the water fountain next to him to get him a cup of water, “It’s a break?”

Shen Huiming looked at him with a smile, and took the water glass, “How come you are still being considerate to me even now?”

“Aren’t you working hard?” Suo Yang sat back beside him, “I feel thirsty after listening to you talk for so long.”

“This water is quite sweet.” Shen Huiming took a sip, pretending to be surprised.

“You don’t need to follow along,” Suo Yang sat down with a smile, “It’s a bit childish.”

Shen Huiming laughed out loud, “Okay, got it.”

The two looked at each other and laughed together.

Shen Huiming finished his water and got up to take Suo Yang to prepare to leave, after all, he couldn’t really waste his time here for the date he hardly managed to get.

When the two went out, the assistant happened to come over and asked Shen Huiming to sign some documents.

The three of them stood at the door, and Shen Huiming signed with a swipe of his pen.

“Mr. Shen, are you going out?”

“Yes, don’t contact me if there’s nothing to do today.” Shen Huiming turned his head and said softly to Suo Yang, “Let’s go.”

The first part was a very formal tone, but the tone for the latter part instantly became gentle.

The assistant stood aside and watched the two leave, feeling that this ‘friend’ was not so simple.

Shen Huiming took Suo Yang around his company and then went downstairs. Suo Yang couldn’t help but praised a few words, and Shen Huiming said, “It’s very good, the effect has been achieved.”

Suo Yang looked at him, “Only now do I realise that a distinguished young man with a successful career can also be very naive occasionally.”

The two walked out of the office building, Shen Huiming opened the door for Suo Yang, “Do you hate it?”

Suo Yang got into the car and looked up at him, “No.”

       That’s good.

Shen Huiming looked at him and smiled, then returned to the driver’s seat by himself.

After tossing and turning for so long, both of them were hungry, so Shen Huiming looked at the time and said, “Let’s go eat something first, and then watch a movie together?”

“Sure.” Suo Yang said, “I’ll choose the restaurant this time.”

He gave an address, and Shen Huiming was surprised when he heard it, “You don’t speak a foreign language, do you?”

The place to eat that Suo Yang said was near the University of Foreign Studies.

“That’s right,” Suo Yang said, “Haven’t I told you before? I majored in English, and when the airline came to recruit me in my senior year, I didn’t think I’d actually get accepted.”

       He really hadn’t said it.

“There’s something,” Shen Huiming started the car, and drove Suo Yang over there, “I probably haven’t told you about it.”

Shen Huiming smiled, “How else can we say that we are destined for each other? If I hadn’t gone abroad, you would have been my junior.”

       “What?”

“I went to a university abroad, but I took the college entrance examination at that time.” Shen Huiming looked at him, “I was also admitted into foreign language university.”

Shen Huiming was three years older than Suo Yang, three years above him.

If Shen Huiming had stayed in China to study at the university, at least for a year, the two would have been seniors and juniors on the same campus.

Although he was not sure whether what Shen Huiming said was true or not, Suo Yang was willing to believe it was true, just like after he met Shen Huiming, he began to believe in the so-called ‘Romantic Fatalism’.

“Then, today this junior will take the senior to taste the delicious food near the University of Foreign Languages,” Suo Yang said, “Not only is there a lot of delicious food, but there are also many handsome men and beautiful women.”

Shen Huiming smiled, “Handsome guys and beautiful women? I don’t really need this. Isn’t there a foreign language most handsome guy sitting next to me?”

Chapter 52

This awkward atmosphere continued under the stalemate between the two.

Chen Yuncheng wanted to leave, but Ning Junyan refused to let go. Chen Yuncheng’s clothes were all soaked through, and even though the room was well-heated, he still felt cold after a while as they clung to his body wetly. He said to Ning Junyan, “It’s too cold.”

Ning Junyan asked, “Is it cold even when I’m holding you?”

Chen Yuncheng said, “You should let me go back and change my clothes.”

Ning Junyan seemed to be hesitating, but after a while, he finally let go of his hand, “Go.”

Chen Yuncheng hurriedly climbed out of the bathtub and found his other slipper on the floor. He walked outside despite the water dripping all over his body, went back to his room to find a change of clothes and went into the guest bathroom to take a shower with hot water.

After he took a shower and changed clothes, almost half an hour passed before Chen Yuncheng felt that his whole body had warmed up. He looked in the mirror and saw that his cheeks were still red, not knowing whether it was because of the steam from the heat of the shower or the little bit of alcohol that hadn’t dissipated.

When he wanted to go back to his room, he was suddenly worried about Ning Junyan. He didn’t know if Ning Junyan was asleep now, or if Ning Junyan had just put on hot water to take a shower again, after all, when Chen Yuncheng was sitting there all drenched and cold, Ning Junyan was also wet and without clothes.

He walked gently to the door of Ning Junyan’s room, this time he didn’t knock on the door, but just opened the door a crack. He saw that it was already dark inside, Ning Junyan must have turned off the light and gone to sleep.

Chen Yuncheng closed the door and wanted to leave, but just as he turned around he turned back and opened it again. He walked in at a lighter pace and after his eyes had adjusted to the darkness in the room, he saw Ning Junyan lying on the bed, wrapping himself in a quilt.

He went to the bed and squatted down, approached Ning Junyan’s face, and asked softly, “Are you asleep?”

       Ning Junyan simply responded, “En.”

Chen Yuncheng reached out to touch his forehead, and asked at the same time, “Did you take a hot shower by yourself afterwards?”

       Ning Junyan did not answer.

Chen Yuncheng worriedly reached into the quilt again to find Ning Junyan’s hand, “Are you cold?” He touched Ning Junyan who wasn’t even wearing pyjamas.

Ning Junyan suddenly grabbed Chen Yuncheng’s hand. Chen Yuncheng was startled, and subconsciously wanted to withdraw his hand, but Ning Junyan held it too firmly, so he failed. Ning Junyan’s palm was hot, but not too hot. Ning Junyan took Chen Yuncheng’s hand and placed it on his chest, and his skin was also warm.

Chen Yuncheng was a little relieved, “You are not cold, right?”

Ning Junyan said, “I’m cold, come up and give me a hug.”

His tone was still flat, but to Chen Yuncheng’s ears, it sounded like he was being coquettish. Chen Yuncheng pinched his nose with his hands and said, “You’re thirty years old and you’re like this in the hospital?”

Ning Junyan said, “No, only to you.”

Chen Yuncheng didn’t say anything, he could already see Ning Junyan’s facial features clearly in the dark, and he knew that the other party was looking at him with his eyes open. They weren’t full of affection, but they were just full of attention as if he was the only one in the world worthy of looking at so intently.

For a moment, Chen Yuncheng felt guilty for the rejection he had been giving Ning Junyan, and he said, “Do you really think this relationship of ours can last?”

Ning Junyan asked him back: “Why not?”

Chen Yuncheng touched Ning Junyan’s eyebrows with his fingers, “We are both men.”

Ning Junyan asked him, “Are you disgusted with me?”

Chen Yuncheng shook his head, “How could I be disgusted with you?”

Ning Junyan said to him, “Come up, I’m going to say something to you.”

       Chen Yuncheng did not move.

Ning Junyan said again, “I won’t do anything, after all this time, have I ever forced you to do anything?”

Chen Yuncheng finally got up and sat by the bed.

Ning Junyan moved to the middle of the bed, let Chen Yuncheng lie down beside him, and covered them both with the quilt.

Chen Yuncheng moved a bit, his body was a little stiff, “Why aren’t you even wearing any underwear?”

Ning Junyan said, “I don’t want to wear it, this is my bed.”

Chen Yuncheng also felt that his accusation was a little unreasonable, he moved to the side of the bed uncomfortably, thinking that he had just laid down on the bed, and he couldn’t go back and leave immediately, so he could only say, “What do you want to say?”

Ning Junyan was lying on his side facing him, still holding his hand, “Do you like me?”

Chen Yuncheng was taken aback by his question as this question was a bit difficult to answer. Naturally, he liked him, but it was difficult for Chen Yuncheng to say what kind of like and to what extent. Up to now, he could only say that he didn’t love Ning Junyan to the point of death, otherwise, he would not have wanted to distance himself from Ning Junyan before it was too late, but if he was asked if his heart ever skipped a beat, he did not want to lie to himself. He must have felt it once, and more than once.

But a heartbeat might not necessarily turn into love, nor because of one or two heartbeats that two people must be together. After all, people were not just animals manipulated by their feelings, they also have a reason.

Chen Yuncheng didn’t answer his question. Ning Junyan was not in a hurry and asked another question instead, “Have you ever liked anyone else? Whether it was a man or a woman?”

“No,” Chen Yuncheng answered dryly this time.

Ning Junyan moved closer to kiss his temples, and asked him, “If it weren’t for me, what kind of person would you be with?”

Chen Yuncheng said, “I don’t know.” After he said that, he added, “Maybe an ordinary woman.”

“What kind of woman?” Ning Junyan asked him.

Chen Yuncheng still said, “I don’t know, I haven’t thought about it carefully, just someone ordinary. She didn’t need to be too outstanding, or too excellent.”

“Why?” Ning Junyan’s voice was very soft, with a rare soft tone. Although the breath smelled of alcohol, the articulation of each sentence was clear.

Chen Yuncheng felt that Ning Junyan inserted his fingers one by one into his own and clasped them tightly, and said, “No reason, just thought it suited me.”

“Have you ever met such a woman?” Ning Junyan asked.

Chen Yuncheng was silent, he was seriously thinking about it, in fact, he had met one, and there was more than one. Someone had expressed interest in him, giving a vague hint that he had picked up on, but had not acted further. It was clear that it was a girl he thought was right for him, but his heart never skipped a bit.

It was as if Ning Junyan knew the answer, “Why didn’t you stay together, wasn’t it your choice?”

Chen Yuncheng was no longer able to answer with the word unsuitable. He felt a little embarrassed and wanted to get up and leave, but Ning Junyan put his arms around him and said to him, “Yuncheng, I am the most suitable person in the world.” Your people, you can’t leave me, and you can’t live without me either. You are afraid to answer my question, you know you are attracted to me. “

“I didn’t,” Chen Yuncheng subconsciously denied.

Ning Junyan put one palm in front of Chen Yuncheng’s beating heart, and said firmly, “I asked it, and it said you did.”

Chen Yuncheng couldn’t help laughing, “Ning Junyan, you’re drunk.”

Ning Junyan said, “It’s okay, you will love me more and more, just like I love you, and we will be together for the rest of our lives.”

Chen Yuncheng suddenly felt curious, and asked Ning Junyan, “If you hadn’t met me, what would you do now?”

Ning Junyan said, “Just fall asleep on this bed alone, work, eat, and sleep every day, and die alone without emotion.”

Chen Yuncheng was a little startled as he asked, “Must it be me?”

       Ning Junyan nodded, “Only you.”

They hadn’t seen each other for sixteen years, how did these sixteen years pass by, and where did Ning Junyan’s so strong feelings come from, Chen Yuncheng didn’t ask, nor did he quite dare to ask. He was always soft-hearted, and once the other party expressed too much affection, he would feel unable to bear it. At the same time, he could not help but want to run away when he felt he could not return the same affection.

There were feelings of affection, indebtedness, and many other things, such as the dependence on each other when they were young, and the reluctance to leave when they were apart. His feelings for Ning Junyan were too complicated to be summed up by the simple word “like”, and Ning Junyan was different from the girls who had shown him affection in the past. For the first time, he felt that he could not escape.

Ning Junyan hugged him, his forehead brushing against the side of his face. Chen Yuncheng’s heart beat violently as he reached inside the quilt and groped down, holding Ning Junyan. Ning Junyan’s movements jerked to a halt and his eyes widened in the darkness to look at him.

Chen Yuncheng was too nervous, his throat was so dry, he said, “Didn’t you say you wanted me to touch it?”

Ning Junyan lowered his head and kissed him fiercely on the neck, his breath unsteady as he said, “Well, it likes it very much, do you feel it?”

Chen Yuncheng was really not used to talking to him like this, so he closed his mouth and eyes. When Ning Junyan’s hand touched his lower abdomen, he immediately bent his legs together and said, “Don’t.” He wouldn’t let Ning Junyan touch him.

Ning Junyan didn’t force it, and replied softly, “Okay.”

Chen Yuncheng felt that Ning Junyan’s kisses kept falling on his side face and neck, and his breathing became more and more unsteady. Even in the dark, he still felt unspeakably shy, so he raised his other arm and put it over his own eyes.

He couldn’t see anything but he could only hear with his ears. Ning Junyan’s breathing sound was too noticeable to ignore in any way,  spreading in all directions in the wide bedroom, hitting the walls and coming back to his ears.

The kisses also became intense and unruly.

It was the passionate voice of an adult man, and Chen Yuncheng suddenly heard his own breathing in it, which was also full of emotion, hot and intense.

He held his breath in fright for a moment, not wanting Ning Junyan to hear himself breathing like that.

Ning Junyan’s voice was hoarse, and he called his name in his ear, “Yuncheng.”

A thin layer of sweat broke out from Chen Yuncheng’s body, and his heartbeat became more and more violent, almost to the point where he couldn’t even stand it anymore. The moment he felt the wetness in his palm, he lifted the blanket off the bed and left Ning Junyan’s room with quick steps as if he was running away.

Chapter 51

Sun Shiliang was true to his word and hired a chauffeur for them when the banquet was over.

Ning Junyan drank a lot tonight compared to Chen Yuncheng, who didn’t drink much and was still sober.

When they left the private room, Chen Yuncheng took Ning Junyan’s coat from the waiter and asked Ning Junyan if he would like to put it on. Ning Junyan stretched his hand and pressed the back of his hand without saying anything and bid farewell to the two guests invited by Sun Shiliang with a clear articulation.

When they came out of the restaurant, Ning Junyan handed over the car keys to the driver who was already waiting outside.

Chen Yuncheng felt a gust of cool wind blowing in front of him, and said to Ning Junyan, “Put on your coat.”

Ning Junyan glanced at him, and stretched out a hand towards him, Chen Yuncheng had no choice but to help him put on the coat, and carefully adjusted the collar for him.

After they got in the car, Chen Yuncheng and Ning Junyan sat side by side in the back.

Chen Yuncheng still didn’t know if Ning Junyan was drunk, or to what extent he was drunk. Ning Junyan’s face barely changed and his expression did not look any different, but he had not said anything since he got into the car.

The driver followed the navigation and drove quietly.

After a few minutes, Ning Junyan, who had straightened his back and leaned on the seat, leaned towards Chen Yuncheng and rested his head on his shoulder.

The car was dimly lit, with only the lights from the street lamps constantly shining on the two people’s faces. Chen Yuncheng felt Ning Junyan’s short hair poking his cheek, he turned his head slightly, and asked, “Do you feel sick?”

Ning Junyan let out an “En”.

Chen Yuncheng raised his hand and patted his head, “I wanted to help you block the drinks.”

Ning Junyan said, “Isn’t that your boss?”

“Sun ge is very close to me, he just likes to have a good time and make friends, he won’t force people to drink,” Chen Yuncheng said.

Ning Junyan whispered in his ear, “I have to show respect to my wife’s friends.”

Chen Yuncheng moved aside instantly and looked at Ning Junyan.

There was a little expression on Ning Jun Yan’s face, except that his head suddenly lost its leverage and he said, “I’m drunk, come here quickly.” After he said that, he stretched out his hand to grab Chen Yuncheng’s arm to pull him back, and leaned his head on it again.

Chen Yuncheng felt suspicious, “Are you really drunk?”

Ning Junyan didn’t answer him and closed his eyes.

When they arrived home, it was Chen Yuncheng who took out the key from Ning Junyan’s pocket and opened the door. Ning Junyan seemed to be really drunk, or at least a little slow to respond, and rarely answered when he spoke to him.

After he closed the door, Chen Yuncheng knelt down and put on slippers. Then he saw Ning Junyan leaning against the door and didn’t move, so he couldn’t help but ask, “Are you okay?”

Ning Junyan looked down at him.

Chen Yuncheng had no choice but to take his slippers off the shoe rack, untie the laces for him, and said, “Lift your feet,” then took off Ning Junyan’s leather shoes and put on slippers for him.

After changing the shoes, Chen Yuncheng asked Ning Junyan, “Can you find where your room is?”

Ning Junyan let out a “huh” and took Chen Yuncheng’s hand to walk inside. When he returned to his room, he said to Chen Yuncheng, “Help me take a bath.”

Chen Yuncheng’s eyes widened instantly, “Are you crazy?”

As if he didn’t understand what he was getting agitated about, Ning Junyan said, “I’m drunk.”

“You’re drunk my ass!” Chen Yuncheng felt that Ning Junyan was playing with him, and turned to go outside, “Stop making trouble, wash yourself.”

Ning Junyan stretched his hand to hold him, and at the same time pressed the other hand on the door, slamming it shut firmly, then said, “Don’t leave.”

Chen Yuncheng looked up at him.

Ning Junyan said, “You can’t do this to me.”

Chen Yuncheng stared at him for a while, then gave in first and said somewhat helplessly, “You’ve grown up, you need to learn to bathe yourself.”

Ning Junyan kept one hand pressing the closed door, not giving Chen Yuncheng a chance to leave as he said, “You don’t want to care about me now that I grow up?”

For a moment, Chen Yuncheng wanted to seriously argue that he should not be in charge of his bath, but after opening his mouth, he felt that anything he said would be nonsense, and finally just said, “You have to take a bath by yourself, anyway.”

Ning Junyan looked at him for a long time, then let go of his hand and walked towards the bed, and said, “Then I’m going to take a shower.”

Chen Yuncheng reached out to open the door and took two steps outside, but he was unsure and turned back around to lean against the door and look at Ning Junyan.

Ning Junyan stood beside the bed and undressed. He took off the soft cashmere sweater and the shirt inside and threw them on the bed. Then he took off his trousers, and when only a pair of underwear was left, he went directly to the bathroom in the room. go.

Chen Yuncheng turned his eyes away when Ning Junyan was taking off his trousers, waited until he went to the bathroom, then walked into the room to help him close the curtains, and packed up the clothes he had thrown on the bed and put them aside.

There was a sound of water coming from the bathroom soon, but the door remained open.

Chen Yuncheng didn’t look in that direction, but went back to the door, and said loudly to Ning Junyan, “I’m outside, call out to me if you need anything.” He didn’t know what could happen to a grown man taking a bath alone, maybe if he was too drunk he might slip in the bathtub.

After a while, Ning Junyan called him and said to him, “Come in and get me a pair of clean underwear.”

Chen Yuncheng glanced over there, and could only see the white light shining from the door, and asked, “Where do you put your underwear?”

Ning Junyan said, “The drawer of the middle wardrobe.”

Chen Yuncheng opened the wardrobe in the middle, pulled open the drawer and saw the neatly stacked underwear inside, this kind of thing was too private, he took out one with some awkwardness in his heart and walked towards the bathroom.

Inside, the sound of the water was still running, and the white water mist filled the air. Ning Junyan stood in the bathtub, his tall and strong body shining brightly.

Chen Yuncheng tried his best not to look at it, and there was only a blurry silhouette in his sight, and he asked, “Where do you put it?”

Ning Junyan extended a wet hand towards him, “Give it to me.”

Chen Yuncheng should have actually wondered what Ning Junyan was doing with a pair of clean pants while the water was still running, but at that moment his brain stopped thinking, and he used all of it to control his stiff body, as he just focused on the beautiful male hand trying to hand him the panties.

As their fingers touched each other, Ning Junyan instead abandoned his own underwear and grabbed Chen Yuncheng’s hand to pull him forward with force.

The floor tiles were non-slip, so Chen Yuncheng was pulled by him and his upper body leaned forward. In panic, Ning Junyan put his hand under his armpit and easily carried him into the bathtub.

Chen Yuncheng dropped one of his slippers, so one foot was still wearing the slipper, and the other foot was only left with a sock. As he felt the fine water mist from the shower hitting his face, he could only close his eyes and hold his breath for a moment.

And the next moment, Ning Junyan kissed his lips.

The kiss didn’t last too long as Chen Yuncheng pushed him away with force, turned his head to avoid the hot water rushing down from the top of his head, gasping for breath and shouted angrily, “Ning Junyan!”

Ning Junyan responded gently, “I’m here.” The slender fingers stuck in the middle of his hair, and pulled his head back with a little force, forcing him to raise his head and kiss his lips again.

Soon Chen Yuncheng’s whole body was drenched, his mouth was blocked by Ning Junyan, and the breath at the end of his nose was drowned by the hot water. Ning Junyan pulled his hair with great force, as long as he used a little force, his scalp would ache in pain and the feeling of suffocation completely surrounded him.

He began to feel fear and struggled hard, pushing Ning Junyan hard with one hand, while the other hand still grasped Ning Junyan’s underwear reflexively.

At this moment, Ning Junyan’s lips left his lips, and at the same time reached out to turn off the shower.

Without Ning Junyan’s support, Chen Yuncheng suddenly couldn’t stop his body from sliding down. He supported himself on the edge of the bathtub with one hand to himself from falling to his knees, and hot water continued to drip down from his hair and clothes.

Ning Junyan wrapped his arms around his waist and helped him up.

Chen Yuncheng got a little angry, slapped Ning Jun’s hand extending towards his face away, and scolded, “Get lost!”

Ning Junyan hugged him and sat down on the edge of the bathtub, forced him to sit on his lap, and said, “Are you angry?”

Chen Yuncheng was still gasping for air.

Ning Junyan extended his hand to take a clean towel that was placed next to the bathtub and gently wiped Chen Yuncheng’s face.

When Chen Yuncheng wanted to grab his hand, he noticed that there was still a piece of wet cloth pinched in his hand. After taking a closer look, it was Ning Junyan’s underwear, so he raised his hand and threw it into the bathtub.

Ning Junyan took advantage of this time to wipe off the water on his face.

Chen Yuncheng’s chest heaved violently and said, “Are you trying to suffocate me?”

Ning Junyan said in an indifferent tone, “I won’t suffocate you, I just want to fvck you to death.”

Chen Yuncheng was ashamed and angry, and wanted to grab Ning Junyan’s clothes, but all he could feel was wet, slippery skin, and he said angrily, “Ning Junyan!”

Ning Junyan lowered his head, gently rested his forehead against Chen Yuncheng’s collarbone, and said, “It was just on my mind.”

Chen Yuncheng suddenly realized that Ning Junyan was not wearing anything, and the state of his body couldn’t be more obvious and calm at this moment.

So his anger suddenly faded a lot, only shame and anger remained, and he struggled to get up.

Ning Junyan refused to let go and said, “Don’t go.”

Chen Yuncheng’s wet hair stuck to both cheeks, hiding the slight redness of the blood, he said, “With you like this, what are you doing to do if I don’t leave?”

Ning Junyan said calmly, “Then touch it.”

Chen Yuncheng refused without thinking, “No.”

Ning Junyan whispered in his ear in an indifferent tone, “Then just ignore it.”

The author has something to say:

Chen Yuncheng may be a little awkward. If he wasn’t awkward and conservative in this area, he wouldn’t be 28 years old and still haven’t had a relationship. Please be understanding to this older single lad

Chapter 31

Suo Yang was always the one the others changed shifts to, and everyone liked to ask him for help when they were unable to fly because they know that he was single, free and easy to talk to.

In fact, everyone remembered how good he was, so when he was looking for someone to change shifts, everyone raised their hands and said they could do it.

Suo Yang was a very dedicated person. He never thought that one day he would change shifts for a date, but it was a bit lovely to have something to look forward to in life because the morning he opened his eyes to get ready for his date, he was in a good mood that his whole body felt refreshed.

It was a beautiful day at the end of September.

Suo Yang opened the curtains and saw the light blue sky at a glance, empty and clean, high and vast.

He stood in front of the window and stretched, then turned his head to glance at the small alarm clock on the table.

At a quarter past six in the morning, he opened the window.

Suo Yang opened the window to ventilate and then went into the bathroom by himself.

At nine o’clock, he was going to Shen Huiming’s 24-hour date. From nine o’clock today to nine o’clock tomorrow morning, and who knows what would happen between them in those 24 hours.

Suo Yang had never expected romance, but Shen Huiming had brought him a lot of romance in an invisible way.

For example, at this moment, as he stood under the shower, he was thinking about someone, which was also a kind of romance.

When Suo Yang walked out of the bathroom and returned to the room, he turned on the stereo which automatically played the song he had listened to before going to bed the night before—’Berlin’, which Shen Huiming had recommended to him.

He walked to the closet, opened the sliding door, looked at the rows of clothes hanging inside, and thought for a long time but didn’t know which one to wear.

He sat on the opposite bed and crossed his legs in a daze until the song ended, and the single started again. On a whim, he took a photo of his wardrobe with his mobile phone and sent it to Shen Huiming.

Suo Yang asked Shen Huiming: Which one do you want me to wear?

When he received the message, Shen Huiming was sitting on the balcony, drinking coffee while working on his work.

He had been woken up by Jiang Tongyan’s phone call at four o’clock and had been forced to get up to have a video conference, after which he had some remaining work to finish.

He put down his coffee cup, clicked on the picture, and smiled.

In fact, all of Suo Yang’s clothes were in the same style. When he changed out of his uniform, he mostly wore dark shirts. Shen Huiming remembered that the light shirt Suo Yang wore that night in Moscow was not in it, and it must have been sent to the laundry.

He liked to see Suo Yang wearing light-coloured clothes. The light-coloured clothes made the man more clear and bright.

Shen Huiming didn’t directly help him decide which one to wear but said: Going on a date is all about being spontaneous and choosing what you like best.

Suo Yang chuckled as he looked at the message, got off the bed, and quickly changed his clothes.

He wore a light grey pinstriped casual shirt, and a white T-shirt inside.

Everything was ready, but it was still very early.

Suo Yang was lying on his bed listening to a song, feeling so relaxed for the first time in his life.

===

At exactly nine o’clock, Suo Yang went downstairs, but Shen Huiming was already waiting downstairs.

Suo Yang asked, “When did you come? Why didn’t you call me?”

Shen Huiming pulled open the door of the passenger seat for him, “The appointment was at nine o’clock, I should have waited peacefully if I had come early.”

He arrived fifteen minutes early. After all, it was morning rush hour, so he was afraid of being late due to traffic jams.

When it comes to a date, punctuality was important.

Shen Huiming didn’t want to be late for the first date. Because in this case, there would probably be no second time.

Perhaps it was a tacit understanding, or perhaps Shen Huiming spied something from the photos that Suo Yang had sent earlier, the two of them were surprisingly dressed to complement each other a bit today, both in shirts and T-shirts and Shen Huiming, who was usually calm and steady, also wore jeans for a rare occasion.

Both of them were tall and long-legged handsome guys, with good figures and good looks. When they stood there, all the passers-by would take a second look.

When Suo Yang got into the car and fastened his seat belt, he asked Shen Huiming, “Where is the first stop?”

“Breakfast.” Shen Huiming started the car and drove Suo Yang out of the neighbourhood.

Before this date started, Suo Yang had made some assumptions.

He thought that a person like Shen Huiming would arrange an exquisite and expensive itinerary, but what he didn’t expect was that the breakfast shop Shen Huiming took him to was just a small shop outside an old neighbourhood, and even the breakfast shop did not even have its own name. There was only a plaque with red letters on a white background that read—Breakfast Fast Food.

       Suo Yang was somewhat surprised.

When the two stood at the door, Shen Huiming explained, “Although the shop looks small and old, the hygiene conditions are very good, so don’t worry about eating.”

Suo Yang smiled, “I don’t mind about that.”

He followed Shen Huiming in, “I just don’t quite understand what’s the need to drive so far to this one specifically.”

       Because it tastes so good?

“Because I grew up eating breakfast here.” Shen Huiming led him to a seat by the window and pulled out a chair for him to sit in. “You sit first, I’ll go and order.”

Suo Yang nodded, sat obediently and waited for Shen Huiming.

“By the way,” Shen Huiming asked him, “Is there anything you should avoid?”

“No.” Suo Yang said, “I like everything that tastes good.”

Shen Huiming smiled, “Good. At least we are the same in this regard.”

After nine o’clock, the peak dining period of the breakfast restaurant had passed, and all the office workers had already left for their workplaces. Even if there were still people queuing up to order, they were all for takeaways and there were not many people dining in. So Suo Yang who sat by the window could directly see Shen Huiming standing in line.

Among the customers in the row, Shen Huiming was the tallest one.

       He stood out a lot.

Suo Yang looked at his back, watched him wait patiently, and watched him turn around to look at himself after answering a phone call.

The two men looked at each other and Suo Yang smiled at him, to which the other man responded with a smile that was almost like exchanging feelings across the air.

When Shen Huiming came back, he was holding the plate in both hands. Suo Yang hurriedly got up and wanted to help him up, but after he gave it some thought, he felt it was unnecessary, so he stood there waiting for the other party to come over, and said, “Thanks for your hard work.”

Shen Huiming ordered two plates of small buns with different fillings, a bowl of millet congee for each person, and a few small dishes.

“It’s a very simple meal.” Shen Huiming said, “But this is the most important memory I have growing up.”

He told Suo Yang, “At that time, after setting a date with you I thought I had to bring you here to experience it, but the food actually tasted really good.”

It had been a long time since Suo Yang had been out for breakfast. Because of irregular work and rest after work, breakfast was basically what was served in the airport’s canteen, which was actually quite hearty, but it really didn’t feel the same sitting here.

       “You live around here?”

“I lived here when I was a kid,” Shen Huiming said, “and only moved away in my third year of high school.”

Suo Yang put a small steamed stuffed bun into his bowl and recalled the nearby neighbourhood that he just saw.

Because Shen Huiming was doing well in his career, Suo Yang subconsciously thought that he was a rich second generation and had the help of his family, but now it seemed that he had been narrow-minded.

“When I was young, my parents were busy at work. Both of them worked in the hospital, and they often had no time to take care of me. I basically ate three meals a day outside.”

Suo Yang listened quietly as Shen Huiming told him about himself, this feeling of leisurely and comfortable talking about the past made him feel comfortable.

“Back then, my family used to settle my breakfast bill with the owner of this shop on a monthly basis,” Shen Huiming recalled the incident when he was a child that he still found interesting now, “I can get up early enough to eat here before going to school, but you know how students are. I don’t even want to get up and often just packed it up and took them to the classroom to eat. The buns smell good, and I get caught every time I sneak a bun in the morning study.”

Suo Yang laughed, “I didn’t expect you to do this kind of thing when you were in school.”

“You too?” Shen Huiming said, “It’s not like that, I thought you were one of those extraordinarily well-behaved honours students.”

“When I was in the third year of high school, I was caught by my homeroom teacher sneaking hot and spicy food with my classmates in the evening study. Suo Yang smiled, “So let’s say we are no better than the other.”

Their student days were already far away, more than ten years ago in fact, but as they exchanged embarrassing and cute moments of their adolescence, they both felt that the person in front of them had become more vivid and real.

The good breakfast not only filled Suo Yang’s stomach but also made him feel comfortable. He should have felt tired after flying for more than ten hours the day before, but during his time with Shen Huiming, not only he didn’t feel tired but also rarely relaxed.

He recalled a theory he had read a long time ago, which said that certain types of emotions actually had a similar effect to pills, which could stimulate certain nerves and activate certain human cells.

This so-called ‘certain type of emotions’ was called ‘love’.

For the time being, Suo Yang was not sure that his love for Shen Huiming was confirmed, but at least he had a good impression of this person, and because he had a good impression, he was willing to continue to spend time with him.

It was past ten o’clock when they came out of the breakfast shop.

Time seemed to fly by, just one breakfast and an hour or so had already passed.

       “Where is the next stop?”

“Tsk,” Shen Huiming stretched at the door of the breakfast shop, and then said to him with a smile in his eyes, “Can we not be so formal? You’re asking a question like you’re trying to clear a game. “

       “Then how should I ask?”

Shen Huiming thought for a while and said, “You should say this.”

He cleared his throat and tried to imitate Suo Yang, “Huiming, we have eaten to our heart’s content and the weather is so nice now, shall we go for a walk?”

Although the imitation failed, he still made Suo Yang laugh.

“Even though I said you’re mine for 24 hours today, the truth is, all of your time is not always at my disposal.” Shen Huiming walked slowly and leisurely forward with Suo Yang, “Going one stop at a time to complete a task, that’s not called a date. A date should be relaxed, spontaneous, a sudden whim when you are on it and it’s a combination of everything you have to do. You’ve only given me 24 hours, your time is mine, but I’m yours, and I can accompany you to do whatever you want. Of course, I will also balance my selfishness in this process and let you accompany me to do something I want to do.”

The two of them walked side by side along the pavement, aimlessly moving forward.

Suo Yang was moved by Shen Huiming’s words.

Your time is mine, but I’m yours.

He had to admit that Shen Huiming was an expert, and he couldn’t resist such a person.

“Okay.” Suo Yang said, “Then you can walk with me on the street and bask in the sun.”

Sometimes, a casual walk on the street was also enjoyable.

Hai Zi1Hai Zi is the pen name of the Chinese poet Zha Haisheng. He was one of the most famous poets in Mainland China after the Cultural Revolution.‘s famous saying, ‘You have come to earth to see the sun and to walk in the streets with your beloved.’ completely turned an aimless walk under the sun into a romanticism of love.

Neither Shen Huiming nor Suo Yang was people who had extra time for walking. With their fast-paced lives and irregular work schedules, they didn’t even have enough time to rest. Rather than saying that they seemed to be sitting on a high-speed train, it was better to say they were the train itself, and the so-called “passengers” in the train were the burdens they carried, burdens that made them unable and afraid to stop.

In the end, this was a common problem faced by every adult who had to work hard to make ends meet in this society.

Therefore, on the rare occasion that he completely dropped everything and went out on a date, Shen Huiming made some arrangements with his assistant in advance and repeatedly instructed him to wait until he returned to the office tomorrow, and not to call him easily during this period.

And Suo Yang was finally willing to hold off flying for the sake of someone, to come back to the ground from high altitude and feel the sunshine in the hustle and bustle of the city rather than over it.

This was a breakthrough for both of them.

The old city districts always had more personality than the new ones.

The old man, who had come out early in the morning to walk the birds in the park and practice tai chi, walked back with his bird cage, greeting the shopkeeper who was cleaning the front of his shop on the roadside as he went.

The sleepy-eyed young man led the dog and took the pocket money to buy egg-filled pancakes2 at the moving breakfast stand that was about to close the stall.

There were also children who are late for school, crying and running out from the gate of the neighbourhood, followed by their grandmas be it from the father’s side or mother’s side chasing after them with school bags.

How long has it been since they saw a scene like this?

They used to see it every day, but it was hard to notice it anymore.

Suo Yang looked at what happened around him with a smile and suddenly wondered what he and Shen Huiming looked like to others.

Two not bad-looking men with a good temperament walking leisurely along the road. Where did they come from? Where were they coming from and where were they going?

As they walked along the road, Shen Huiming pointed out the neighbourhood across the road to Suo Yang, “I lived there when I was a kid.”

Suo Yang looked over and heard Shen Huiming say, “This building is older than me, I remember it was built in the eighties, almost forty years ago, I remember it was said to be demolished a few years ago, but since this area is a school district, there are too many things involved and it has never been implemented.”

Shen Huiming asked him suddenly, “Are you a local3he’s asking if Suo Yang is born and raised in the country?”

“Well,” Suo Yang said, “I studied here in college and stayed here to work after graduation.”

Shen Huiming could actually understand why Suo Yang works so hard. There were a lot of foreigners in their city, and it was not easy to stay and take root here. Many people had to go back home or settle in other cities where life was not so stressful after working for a few years or a dozen years. It was rare for someone like Suo Yang who could buy a small house with his own ability at such a young age.

Suo Yang knew what Shen Huiming was thinking, and said to him, “Many people may think that we make a lot of money in this line of work.”

       Shen Huiming looked at him.

In fact, Shen Huiming had always thought so, perhaps because of the special nature of the flight attendant industry—flying in the blue sky, always gives people a sense of mystery and endless reverie.

Just like the ‘private life’ the two talked about before, many people thought that the private life of the flight attendant was chaotic, but did those people really understand them?

“But the truth is, it’s not that easy to make money.” Suo Yang said, “The amount of money we make each month depends on the number of hours we fly and where we fly, and we really aren’t a team of high-flying models who live off our looks and bodies going through the motions every day.”

He laughed, “There is a certain amount of danger in what we do.”

Of course Shen Huiming understood what Suo Yang said, but he didn’t interrupt the other party and listened quietly.

“Cabin service is actually not easy, and communicating with people is a very laborious task.” When Suo Yang said this, he always smiled and spoke in a relaxed tone, but Shen Huiming knew that he was talking about something very stressful in a relaxed tone as much as possible, “But compared to those unforeseen emergencies, this is already very easy to deal with.”

“Unforeseen emergencies…” Shen Huiming frowned slightly.

Shen Huiming thought about this when he encountered the bad weather in Moscow last time. In fact, he suddenly understood the reason for Zhou Mo’s career change, and maybe it was also due to this factor.

“You’ve been on planes a lot, you must have experienced the turbulence,” Suo Yang said, “Every time the broadcast was aired, the passengers will feel very uncomfortable sitting there. Of course we will take some measures, but often there’s no way to just sit down and fasten your seat belt in the first place.”

They walked into a park and took a slow stroll along the river.

“When we flew to Rio de Janeiro a while ago, there was a sudden turbulence in the middle of the flight. At that time, were doing cabin service handing out meal boxes and one girl was hit in the back before the meal cart could stop because the turbulence was so violent.” Suo Yang said softly, “This kind of thing, in fact, happens every day.”

When most people thought of flight attendants, they think of the ‘glamour’ and ‘good pay’ they had, but rarely do they think of the problems they had to face.

Of course, all professions and trades had their own share of difficulties, but they only get so much in exchange for their hard work. Not to mention, many times they didn’t get as much as what was rumoured by the outsiders.

Suo Yang smiled, “Sorry, I complained to you.”

“What are you sorry for?” Shen Huiming said, “I like to hear it, and I want to know more about your life.”

Suo Yang looked at him, “What do you want to know? You can ask me.”

“No,” Shen Huiming was unexpectedly showing a tsundere4seemingly arrogant and standoffish but kind and tender inside. side, “I’m going to wait for you to reveal it to me little by little.”

Suo Yang laughed out loud, “Fine, then you can wait.”

The two walked around the park and coincidentally reached the place where they rented the boat.

Shen Huiming said, “Do you want to row a boat?”

Suo Yang looked at the sparkling water surface, this season, this temperature, and this time, boating couldn’t be more suitable.

There were not many tourists in this park, it was still early, and there were only a few scattered boats on the water.

“Okay.” Suo Yang said, “But, can I choose the pedal boat?”

Shen Huiming was not quite concerned with the shape of the boat, but he was very curious why Suo Yang had to choose a pedal boat.

       “The others…are scary.”

Shen Huiming didn’t expect Suo Yang to give such an answer. Suo Yang was so cute that Shen Huiming laughed out loud immediately.

“It turns out that you also have something to be afraid of.”

“Of course, I’m human too.” Suo Yang said with a smile, “I’m afraid of water.”

When he heard what Suo Yang said, Shen Huiming waved his hand, “Forget it then, let’s go do something else.”

He didn’t want his suggestion to bring any pressure on Suo Yang.

Suo Yang suddenly grabbed Shen Huiming’s wrist and said firmly, “No, I want to experience it, maybe because of this, I can overcome my fear of water.”

Suo Yang learned to swim when he was in elementary school, but he choked on the water on the first day, and since then he had been afraid of water. After that, even when the school organized everyone to go to the park on Children’s Day, he didn’t participate in the ‘swing the oar’ with the other students.

For so many years, he always had a sense of fear for rivers and lakes.

He didn’t like it. He didn’t like that he had a weakness.

In fact, he disliked exposing his weaknesses to others, but perhaps because Shen Huiming made him feel reliable, he was even willing to take risks with him around.

Shen Huiming looked at him, suddenly grabbed Suo Yang’s hand holding his wrist, squeezed it hard, and then let go.

       “Don’t worry, I’m here.”

With a single word, Suo Yang felt relieved.

He was not a person who liked to rely on others, but it felt really good to have someone he could trust.

       It was even, somewhat touching.

Shen Huiming and Suo Yang went to rent a boat, and Suo Yang smiled and pointed to the little yellow duck’s pedal boat, “Is it childish?”

       “It’s cute, that’s all.”

After they paid the deposit and asked about the fee standard, they put on their life jackets and then followed the staff to the shore.

Shen Huiming went up first, sat down, and waited for Suo Yang to come up.

As Suo Yang stood there and raised his feet, the boat in front of him was shaking slightly on the water’s surface. His heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and he didn’t dare to look at the water’s surface.

As he tensed and hesitated, Shen Huiming stretched out his hand.

“Suo Yang.” Shen Huiming looked at him and said, “It’s alright, come on.”

Suo Yang raised his head and looked at Shen Huiming, and the moment the other party extended his hand to him, it was as if the world was silent.

Everything was just a fleeting glimpse. Only the hand extended towards him and the person looking at him were real.

Suo Yang stretched out his hand and held it.

Shen Huiming pulled him hard and rose slightly, protecting Suo Yang as he took him aboard.

The two held hands all the time, and they didn’t let go until Suo Yang sat down.

The boat swayed from side to side due to their movements, the swaying range was not large, but it was enough to make Suo Yang flustered.

He held Shen Huiming’s hand tightly, and tried to look calm and collected.

Shen Huiming turned around and briefly exchanged words with the staff, then turned to him and said, “Are you okay?”

       Suo Yang nodded.

“Keep your feet on the pedals.” Shen Huiming was as patient and gentle as if teaching a child to learn to walk.

Suo Yang obediently lifted his foot and put it on the pedal, and then heard Shen Huiming say, Hold my hand tightly if you’re afraid, I’ll count to three, two, one, and we’ll press the pedal hard together, and prepare to sail.”

“Okay.” Suo Yang held Shen Huiming with one hand and grabbed the handrail beside him with the other hand.

       “Three, two, one.”

The ‘Little Yellow Duck’ sailed and cut through the calm water, as it carried the two of them towards the centre of the lake.

Suo Yang’s heart was beating fast. He didn’t know if it was because of nervousness or because of the hand he was holding.

Suo Yang could probably understand the reason why he was afraid of water—floating, helpless, not in control of his body, and even his breath could be taken away at any moment.

He didn’t like this sense of uncertainty, and the feeling of his fate spiralling out of control made him feel panicked.

It was already a breakthrough when he reached the shore. He thought that he would be too nervous to speak when he got on the boat, but to his surprise, everything was much more relaxed than he had imagined.

“I learnt to walk in this park,” Shen Huiming said while stepping on the pedals to Suo Yang’s rhythm, “I also learnt to ride a bicycle here.”

He pointed to the road they had come from, “It’s over there, on that road.”

Suo Yang looked in the direction of his finger, knowing that it was impossible, but it was as if he saw the child Shen Huiming walking there step by step with his parents, and the adolescent Shen Huiming speeding past with his classmates on bicycles.

He missed Shen Huiming of that era.

       Lovely, childish, youthful and soaring.

Suo Yang suddenly felt a little regretful, if they could have met earlier, wouldn’t they have had a chance…

Suo Yang put away these unrealistic fantasies.

He smiled and said, “Are you bringing me here to reminisce over the years?”

Shen Huiming also smiled, “Oops, you found out.”

       He did.

He brought Suo Yang to see the place where he grew up and let Suo Yang know that he really wanted the other party to come and see his world.

Since Suo Yang had no intention of opening the door for him yet, he had no choice but to take this step first.

“I want to show you my favourite place,” Shen Huiming said, “I have always said that there is no word ‘best’ in life, every moment is brand new, every moment is the best, every moment is the most worth cherishing and remembering. But the truth is, people are biased.”

Shen Huiming stepped on the pedal, and the boat swayed and took them farther and farther away from the shore.

He said, “My favourite time should be before the age of seventeen. I can’t say that it was a carefree time because there was always something to cause headaches, such as forgetting to wear a red scarf when I went to school or having a parents’ meeting when I didn’t do well in an exam.”

As he listened, Suo Yang slowly relaxed and sat beside Shen Huiming with a light smile.

The two chatted while they roamed the lake. The little snippets that Shen Huiming narrated seemed to fill the gap between the two of them for so many years.

       Shen Huiming’s thirty years.

       Suo Yang’s twenty-seven years.

The two non-overlapping worlds were pulled in front of Suo Yang by Shen Huiming through storytelling.

And their hands were held together from beginning to end.

After the lake tour was over, the two returned to the shore.

Shen Huiming let Suo Yang go ashore first, and himself guarded behind.

This time, although Suo Yang was still a little nervous standing on the swaying boat, he did not feel as dizzy as when he arrived, because someone was holding his hand all the time, and not only that, he was also protecting him from behind.

When he came back to the ground from the boat, he really knew what it meant to have ‘his feet on the ground’.

Suo Yang breathed a long sigh of relief, and Shen Huiming asked with a smile, “How is it? Do you feel alive now?”

Suo Yang rubbed between his brows, “It’s better than I imagined.”

“Then do you dare to board the boat when you are alone?”

Suo Yang looked at him, thought for a while, and replied, “Maybe it won’t work. Maybe it won’t work if someone else is around.”

This sentence was a pleasant surprise to Shen Huiming, he suppressed his laughter, and asked Suo Yang as calmly as possible, “So, I’m the only one who can?”

Suo Yang smiled, didn’t say anything, and turned around to go elsewhere.

The autumn wind swept by, and a fallen leaf fell on Suo Yang’s shoulder.

Shen Huiming quickly followed him and lifted his hand to pick up the leaf on his shoulder, holding it in his hand and playing with it.

“I’m taking it back and making a specimen.”

Suo Yang looked at him suspiciously.

“It’s got your autumn on it.”

===

It was already noon when they came out of the park, and the two were tired from walking and playing. When they got back to the car, Shen Huiming handed Suo Yang a bottle of water.

When Suo Yang took it and thanked him, Shen Huiming was a little exasperated, “When will you stop being so polite to me?”

Suo Yang took a sip of the water and said as he screwed on the cap, “I’m used to it.”

“Alright, take your time.” Shen Huiming glanced at the time. It was still early, and it was not suitable for eating or watching movies. He raised his hand to pick at his hair and said, “Do you mind accompanying me to get a haircut?”

       “No problem.”

Shen Huiming’s hair should really be cut. He was busy a while ago and went to the hospital after he finished his work, and after he came out of the hospital, he chased Suo Yang to Berlin.

Before they set off, Shen Huiming called his hair stylist and asked him if it was convenient for him to go there. After he received the approval, he drove Suo Yang there.

The place where Shen Huiming cut his hair was not far from his company. When he passed by, he still thought that maybe he could take Suo Yang to his company on the way.

He found out that he was a villain indeed, and having lured Suo Yang to his side, he couldn’t wait to flaunt him around and let everyone see him.

But he didn’t tell Suo Yang about this plan in advance, for fear that Suo Yang would feel embarrassed.

The two of them parked the car and went to get the haircut first.

When they entered, Shen Hui Ming’s hair stylist was already waiting at the door, and as soon as he saw him, he smiled, “What’s wrong with your hair? Are you going to change careers to be an actor, and play a tramp?”

Suo Yang followed behind Shen Huiming and looked over after hearing the sound.

The hair stylist was a young man, very white and thin, not very tall, it was already autumn, but the temperature inside was nice, he was still wearing short sleeves and had a flower arm tattooed on one arm.

Shen Huiming responded with a smile, “Mocking me as soon as I get here.”

After talking to the other party, he immediately turned to look back at Suo Yang, making sure that the other party was following him.

The hairstylist noticed this man just now, and they stared at him for a long time before they came in.

“Friend?” The hairstylist leaned against the bar to look at them.

“Yes,” Shen Huiming smiled at Suo Yang, and said to the hair stylist, “He came with me.”

The hairdresser tilted his head and looked at Suo Yang, then smiled softly, straightened up, turned around and walked in with light steps, “Come on, I’m waiting for you specially.”

Shen Huiming and Suo Yang walked side by side behind the hairstylist, “No need to queue today, we should be able to finish the cut soon.”

Suo Yang smiled, “It’s okay, there’s no rush.”

In this barber shop, each hairstylist had their own independent workroom, which had no door and was spacious, with a workbench in front and a waiting sofa at the back.

After the hair stylist took them there, he asked his assistant to wash Shen Huiming’s hair first, then pointed to the sofa behind and said to Suo Yang, “Handsome guy, you can sit there.”

Suo Yang politely thanked him, then sat down by the side.

As Shen Huiming went to wash his hair, the hairstylist glanced at Suo Yang, turned around and got him a glass of water.

“Thank you.” Suo Yang smiled at him.

The hairstylist leaned on the back of the chair and looked at him with a smile, “Are you dating Ming ge?”

Suo Yang was very calm. He held the paper cup in both hands, and looked up at the other party with a smile, “Just friends.”

The hairstylist curled his lips and smiled, “Oh, just friends for the time being, and hard to say about it in the future.”

Suo Yang smiled and said nothing.

“It’s alright, you guys are well-matched.”

Suo Yang listened to his tone of voice and could probably guess what he was thinking.

“Handsome, what do you do for a living?”

       “What?”

“It’s nothing, just curious.” The hairstylist said, “I see that you have an unusual temperament. What’s the word for it…”

The hairstylist tapped his forehead vigorously, but couldn’t remember, turned his head and shouted outside, “Andy! What is the word you use to describe your idol?”

“Gentle as jade!” The man called Andy was nowhere to be found, but his voice overpowered the music in the shop, “Baby! Are you going to be in the pit5simping?”

“Into the pit my ass.” The hairstylist muttered in a low voice, then turned to Suo Yang and said, “That’s the word, gentle as jade, looks like a cultured person.”

Suo Yang was amused by him, but he just smiled and didn’t say much, let alone tell the other party his profession.

The hairstylist saw that he was not willing to talk, and he didn’t know whether it was Suo Yang’s personality, or that Suo Yang still looked down on him and didn’t want to talk to him, so he felt bored, so he stopped talking.

He turned around, looked in the mirror, and subconsciously compared himself in the mirror with the person sitting behind him.

Suo Yang suddenly raised his eyes and just met his gaze. The hairstylist didn’t dodge and smiled at him.

Shen Huiming came back from washing his hair, and as soon as he came in, he looked at Suo Yang who was sitting there.

Suo Yang smiled at him, put down the water glass, and got up to take the phone and car keys that Shen Huiming handed him.

“It almost fell out just now when I was lying there washing my hair.” Shen Huiming said.

“You should have let me hold it for you before you went.” With Shen Huiming’s things in his hand, Suo Yang moved to the side and watched Shen Huiming go over and sit in front of the worktable.

Instead of going back to the sofa to sit down, he stood and watched.

The hairstylist was neat and skilled, and he didn’t talk too much when cutting Shen Huiming’s hair, which was really good.

Suo Yang stood there looking at Shen Huiming. The other man’s eyes were closed and his eyelashes were covered with a little bit of hair that had been cut, making him want to go over and help him blow it out.

The waiting time was longer than the two of them expected. Suo Yang could tell that in the end, they were just trimming some insignificant parts. The hairdresser seemed anxious to cut and repair them one by one.

That hand holding the scissors was thin and white, and they were very dexterous. He carefully styled Shen Huiming’s hair, obviously delaying time on purpose.

Shen Huiming naturally found out, and asked, “Suo Yang, what time is it?”

When he asked Suo Yang the time, he was actually tactfully urging the hairstylist.

Suo Yang glanced at the phone and found that it had been cut for almost an hour.

However, only Shen Huiming was in a hurry, while Suo Yang was really not in a hurry. He stood there a bit lost in thought, his thoughts fell on the hairstylist.

The hairstylist understood what Shen Huiming meant, “What’s the hurry? If you don’t get a good cut, you’re ruining my reputation.”

Shen Huiming smiled, “Can we not be in a hurry, both of our time was very precious today.”

The reason why he asked Suo Yang to come and cut his hair with him was that he thought that this matter was quite personal, and only those who were close to him would accompany him to have a haircut.

However, he didn’t expect it to be so slow.

The hairstylist pouted again, “What for? A date?”

Shen Huiming smiled and said, “Yes, can’t you see it?”

Suo Yang laughed softly, and when he raised his eyes, he found that the hairstylist was looking at him.

“I can see it now.” The hairstylist stopped talking and announced after a few minutes that the cut was done.

Although the hairstylist seemed to not really be in a good mood, the cut was pretty good.

Shen Huiming went to the cashier to swipe his card, while Suo Yang walked slowly behind.

“I’m envious of you,” the hairstylist said beside Suo Yang, “I told you. He just won’t look at me.”

Suo Yang turned to look at him.

“I make a lot of money a month,” the hair stylist muttered, “but it’s not the same. No matter how much I earn, I’m not at the same level as him.”

Suo Yang listened to his words, was silent for a few seconds, and said softly, “Don’t say that, you just haven’t met the right person for you.”

“Huh?” The hairdresser didn’t expect Suo Yang to comfort himself.

“Thank you for your hard work today,” Suo Yang said with a smile, “He looks a lot more refreshed.”

The hairstylist stared at Suo Yang and then smiled too.

“It’s okay,” said the hair stylist, “Next time you come to see me, I’ll give you a 20% discount.”

After swiping the card, Shen Huiming came to look for Suo Yang, holding a red immortal flower bear in his hand. It was not big, it was packed in a transparent box and tied with a black ribbon6.

He conveniently handed the little bear to Suo Yang.

“A top-up gift.” Shen Huiming said, “It looks cute.”

Suo Yang looked at the little bear in his hand and leaned closer to smell it through the package.

“Can you smell the fragrance?” Shen Huiming asked with a smile.

“It seems to be okay.” Suo Yang handed the little bear in front of him, and Shen Huiming was really cooperative, so he leaned over to sniff it.

The hairstylist standing on the side pouted and said, “Alright, you guys should go now. Not only do I have no one to date, but I also have to continue working, please let me live!”

Chapter 50

When Boss Sun called to ask Chen Yuncheng to go to the trade market to look at the shops, Ning Junyan happened to be resting at home, and he insisted on driving Chen Yuncheng there.

Chen Yuncheng told him there was no need for him to do that. He didn’t really want Ning Junyan to go with him, because Ning Junyan’s presence and his car were too conspicuous. Boss Sun found him something to do because he saw that his current situation was difficult. It was not suitable for him to drive a car worth hundreds of thousands to meet others. But Chen Yuncheng was unable to say this reason.

Ning Junyan asked him, “Why not?”

Chen Yuncheng said, “It’s rare for you to have a day off, so take a good rest at home.”

Ning Junyan shook his head, but still insisted, “I’ll take you there.”

Chen Yuncheng felt that he couldn’t refuse anymore, so he said, “Then you can park outside later and wait for me in the car.”

Ning Junyan frowned and realized something. He put down the half-eaten porridge in his hand, “You don’t like me?”

Chen Yuncheng quickly said, “It’s not that I dislike you, I’m just a part-time worker. I’m afraid that you will cause misunderstandings with me.”

Ning Junyan asked him, “What is the misunderstanding?”

Chen Yuncheng said, “I misunderstand that I am not sincere.”

Ning Junyan looked at him silently for a while, and said, “The car doesn’t need to go in, but I want to go in.”

       Chen Yuncheng nodded, “Okay.”

The trade market in the north of the city was newly renovated. Chen Yuncheng had only heard of it before and had never been here.

There was a large parking lot outside the market, and there were not many cars parked at this time. Because it was a wholesale business market, cars could drive inside, but Chen Yuncheng asked Ning Junyan to park the car in the parking lot.

The two of them walked in and saw that the market was almost a two-story townhouse, with shops on both floors. Not much time passed from completion to the opening of the market, and most of the shops had not yet opened for business. Some were closed, some were under renovation, and only a few had opened for business.

Boss Sun had already arrived first, standing outside the shop waiting for Chen Yuncheng.

Chen Yuncheng greeted him when he saw him, briefly introduced Ning Junyan who was with him, saying that he was a friend who drive him here and then listened to Boss Sun’s introduction of the shop.

Boss Sun’s full name was Sun Shiliang. He was in his forties, not very tall, a typical middle-aged man with a large pot belly.

Ning Junyan just took a look at him, then let Chen Yuncheng talk with him, and stood a little further away.

Boss Sun’s new shop was quite big and was still being renovated, but the signboard had already been put up.

He told Chen Yuncheng that he was rushing to renovate as soon as possible and wanted to start the business the year before, but now it looked a bit difficult and might have to be postponed until after the year.

Chen Yuncheng said, “The year before is the best time for business, I guess.”

The tobacco and alcohol business before the Chinese New Year was naturally the best. Sun Shiliang glanced around, “You see, most of the people around here couldn’t open their businesses a few years ago, and the deserted places can’t drive business. Forget it, don’t worry too much. Besides, there are still two weeks to go before Chinese New Year’s Eve, and these renovators will stop working soon, so we won’t be able to find anyone again until after Chinese New Year is over. It’s the same with you hiring people, it’s a bad time of year, and everyone’s back home for New Year. You’re getting ready to go back for New Year too, right?”

When Chen Yuncheng heard him say that, he suddenly realised that it was already almost the Chinese New Year. He said, “I won’t go back, so I’ll stay here.”

Sun Shiliang asked strangely, “Aren’t you the only child in the family? Hurry back and bear a son to carry on the family name!”

Chen Yuncheng didn’t expect his casual perfunctory remarks to be remembered so well by the other party, so he couldn’t help but smiled and said, “It’s okay, they’ll just come over to spend the New Year with me.”

Sun Shiliang didn’t think about it carefully, and nodded, “Anyway, let bygones be bygones, other than that, we still have to arrange for someone to guard the goods.”

Chen Yuncheng asked, “Is there a place to live in the shop?”

Sun Shiliang said, “Yes”, he took Chen Yuncheng to walk inside and saw that besides the two open shops outside, there was a small store room inside with some shelves already set up, and then there was an empty room inside with a small bathroom on one side of the room.

“You can live there if you want, or you can hire someone to guard it,” Sun Shiliang pointed out to him, “Didn’t you live in the kiosk before? If you don’t have a place to live, you don’t need to rent an apartment.”

Chen Yuncheng subconsciously turned his head and looked outside. From this angle, Ning Junyan was no longer visible. He said, “Let me think about it.”

Sun Shiliang patted him on the shoulder and said, “It won’t be as comfortable as being the boss of your own in the future.”

Chen Yuncheng turned around, smiled and said: “Being comfortable is one thing, but business has been bad over there, and it will only get worse when the supermarket opens nearby in the future, so it’s no point for me to just try to be comfortable and at ease.”

There were also a lot of renovation tools piled up inside, and the floor was so messy that it was difficult to set foot on it, so the two retreated out again.

Sun Shiliang saw Ning Junyan standing outside from a distance, and asked Chen Yuncheng in a low voice, “What does your friend do?”

Chen Yuncheng found that many people around him were interested in Ning Junyan’s identity, so he joked, “What do you think?”

Sun Shiliang sized up Ning Junyan from head to toe, “He looks like a celebrity by his appearance, and he looks like some big boss by his temperament.”

Chen Yuncheng couldn’t help but smiled slightly, and said to Sun Shiliang, “Aren’t you the one who looks like a big boss?”

Sun Shiliang shook his hand holding the cigarette, “I’m just a local rich man.”

Chen Yuncheng laughed softly, “He’s a doctor.”

Ning Junyan wore a long coat today. He was tall and broad-shouldered, and he looked very good in a long coat. His clothes were open and his hands were in his pockets, as he stood upright against the light. Like Sun Shiliang said, he looked like an idol star coming out of a TV drama.

When Sun Shiliang heard that Ning Junyan was a doctor, he immediately became interested and asked, “Which hospital is he from?

Chen Yuncheng talked about the tertiary hospital where he worked.

Sun Shiliang said, “It’s a big hospital. Is your friend free? Let me treat you to dinner tonight.”

“You are too kind,” Chen Yuncheng said.

Sun Shiliang said, “You know how difficult it is to see a doctor nowadays, who doesn’t want to meet doctors from big hospitals, you have to give me a good introduction.”

Chen Yuncheng looked at Ning Junyan and suddenly hesitated. He didn’t know if Ning Junyan would dislike this kind of socializing, but it was hard for him to refuse Boss Sun’s request, so he could only say, “I’ll ask him if he has any arrangements for the evening and then give you an answer.”

       Sun Shiliang replied, “Yes!”

At noon, Sun Shiliang had other arrangements, so he parted from them at the trade market.

Chen Yuncheng got into the car, and when Ning Junyan started the car, he asked him, “Do you have something for the evening?”

“Huh?” Ning Junyan turned his head slightly.

Chen Yuncheng said, “Boss Sun just now wanted to invite you to dinner tonight.”

“Invite me?” Ning Junyan felt a little strange, “Why me?”

Chen Yuncheng said, “He’s quite fond of making friends, he heard that you work at the hospital and wants to get to know you.”

Ning Junyan heard the words and replied, “Okay.”

Chen Yuncheng looked at him in surprise, “Is it okay?”

Ning Junyan said “En”, “Isn’t he your boss?”

Chen Yuncheng didn’t expect him to agree so readily. It took him a while to react, and he called Sun Shiliang back and asked to have dinner together in the evening.

Sun Shiliang was outspoken and straightforward, so he immediately agreed on the time and place.

Chen Yuncheng and Ning Junyan went over in the evening, and when they entered the restaurant’s private room, they saw that Sun Shiliang had brought two friends over. Sun Shiliang introduced the two as a government official and a university teacher and said that he was a businessman with little education, so he had found two friends to drink and chat with.

Chen Yuncheng took off his coat and handed it to the waiter. He sat down and said, “Sun ge, he will be on duty tomorrow, so he doesn’t dare to drink.”

As soon as the words left Chen Yuncheng’s mouth, Ning Junyan who was sitting next to him said, “I’m not on duty, you remember wrongly.”

Chen Yuncheng raised his foot and kicked Ning Junyan, which happened to hit Ning Junyan’s calf, and said with a smile on his face, “That’s my mistake, but he’s still driving, so why don’t I drink for him?”

Sun Shiliang said, “It’s okay even if he’s driving, I’ll call a chauffeur for Dr. Ning and make sure you get back safe and sound.”

Ning Junyan said, “Thank you, Boss Sun.”

Chen Yuncheng couldn’t help but wanted to kick Ning Junyan again, but this time Ning Junyan held onto his thigh and squeezed it a little harder making his whole body trembled along with it.

In this kind of situation, with the other party being Sun Shiliang, who liked to socialise and entertain, Chen Yuncheng knew that it would be hard to end the night without drinking enough.

He glanced at Ning Junyan with some concern.

Ning Junyan approached his ear and whispered, “It’s okay.” Then when Sun Shiliang called everyone to have a drink first, he stood up politely holding the wine glass.

Chen Yuncheng had always felt that Ning Junyan was somewhat unapproachable in the past. Whether it was when he was a child or after the two reunited, the Ning Junyan in his impression seldom interacted with others in a polite and courteous way as he was now, socialising with people.

Ning Junyan was actually two years older than him, but he had hit his head when he was a child and Chen Yuncheng had been taking care of him, so he always felt that Ning Junyan was younger than him and needed to be taken care of by himself. However, today, Chen Yuncheng felt that he was being taken care of by him.

There was no need for Ning Junyan to come to this meal. The only reason why he accepted the invitation without hesitation was that Sun Shiliang was Chen Yuncheng’s boss, and he had come for Chen Yuncheng.

The university teacher sitting across from him chatted with Ning Junyan. Chen Yuncheng was confused when he heard them talking about doctoral dissertations and medical journals, so he ate food silently. Many times he couldn’t help turning his head to look at Ning Junyan.

Sun Shiliang sat on a chair with a smile and smoked. He also couldn’t understand, but it didn’t prevent him from listening to their chat with relish.

Chen Yuncheng kind of understood this kind of mentality. When you felt that you were shallow and ignorant, but the other party was knowledgeable and powerful, it created a mentality of admiration.

At this moment, he could feel Ning Junyan’s excellence and the fact that such an excellent Ning Junyan would fall in love with him, which made him throb uncontrollably from the bottom of his heart.
