On the third day of the National Day holiday, Zhan Xiusong slept in until Auntie Luo prepared lunch. After lunch, he didn’t want to go out.

In the afternoon, Zhan Xiusong and Zhan Weiyang were playing video games on the first floor. After several rounds, he kept losing to Zhan Weiyang and immediately felt embarrassed. He threw the controller aside, said he wouldn’t play anymore, and went upstairs to take a nap.

Zhan Xiusong went up to the second floor and looked at the balcony. He saw Zhan Weiguang had placed a lounge chair on the balcony, lying on it while basking in the sun and looking at his phone. So he walked out and said, “Are there any more chairs? I want to come and lie down too.”

       Zhan Weiguang said, “No more.”

Zhan Xiusong turned around on the balcony and said, “We should ask Uncle to buy a swing chair and put it here.”

Zhan Weiguang said lazily, “Go and talk to my Dad yourself.”

Zhan Xiusong leaned against the balcony fence and said, “Tell Zhan Weiyang to go and talk. Uncle will buy him whatever he wants.” After that, he smiled and added, “But he won’t buy it for you.”

Zhan Weiguang glanced at him sideways and sneered, “Do you think I am you?”

“What?” Zhan Xiusong didn’t understand what he meant.

Zhan Weiguang said, “I’m not a middle school student anymore. I don’t compete with my brother for favour. It’s childish.”

       Zhan Xiusong pouted.

He seemed bored and didn’t want to take a nap, so he thought of calling Zhan Weiguang up, “Guang ge, let’s go buy milk tea.”

       Zhan Weiguang said, “No.”

       “Then go play basketball?”

Zhan Weiguang still shook his head.

Zhan Xiusong wailed, “The day is too boring!”

Zhan Weiguang said to him, “Then go back.”

Zhan Xiusong immediately said, “I’m not going back.”

       Zhan Weiguang ignored him.

Zhan Xiusong suddenly found an empty flower pot in the middle of the circle of green plants on the edge of the balcony. He was a little surprised and asked Zhan Weiguang, “Why put an empty flower pot?”

After a long time, Zhan Weiguang said, “I don’t know.”

Zhan Xiusong braced his hands on the fence, lifted his slightly bulky body into the air, and stepped on the edge of the flower pot with his feet on the left and right.

After Zhan Xiusong left, Zhan Weiyang tidied up the gaming console and controllers in the living room on the first floor, put them back into their packaging box, and then crouched down to place the box into the drawer under the TV cabinet. Only then did he go upstairs to the second floor.

Pei Qing went back to his room to take a nap at noon, and Zhan Weiyang didn’t know if he was up or not. Zhan Weiyang thought that if Pei Qing was still sleeping, he could go and ask Pei Qing to hug him and sleep together.

In the end, he just went up to the second floor and heard someone talking on the balcony. He turned around and saw Zhan Xiusong with his feet on his flower pot.

“No—” Zhan Weiyang yelled, ran over in a hurry, and yelled to Zhan Xiusong, “Get down!”

Zhan Xiusong was startled by him and looked a little dazed, “What’s wrong?”

Zhan Weiyang was anxious and angry, “You are not allowed to step on my flower pot!”

Zhan Xiusong looked down at the flower pot under his feet, and the glasses on his nose slid down a little. He pushed them back with his fingers and said inexplicably, “What? Why do you put an empty flower pot here?”

Zhan Weiyang said, “That’s my flower pot!”

At this time, Zhan Weiguang also sat up straight. Although he didn’t understand Zhan Weiyang’s strange thinking, he was familiar with Zhan Weiyang’s personality, so he frowned and said to Zhan Xiusong, “Get down first.”

Reluctantly, Zhan Xiusong responded with an ‘oh,’ using the edge of the flowerpot to push off and jump down. However, he hadn’t anticipated that at that very moment, the flowerpot would crack in the middle under the pressure of his weight.

So when Zhan Xiusong fell to the ground with a dull sound, Zhan Weiyang’s flower pot also broke into two halves.

Zhan Weiyang ran over in big strides, first forcefully pushing aside Zhan Xiusong who was in his way, then crouching down with a look of disbelief to inspect his flowerpot.

Zhan Xiusong, who was so big, was pushed by him and staggered. He took two steps back and almost hit a flower pot behind him. He said angrily, “What are you mad about?”

Zhan Weiguang stood up from the chair and looked at Zhan Weiyang squatting on the ground.

Zhan Weiyang was very sad. He stretched out his hand to hold the cracked flower pot and tried to close it, but as soon as he let go, the flower pot would immediately split to both sides.

Zhan Xiusong said, “It’s just a flower pot!” After saying that, he felt a little lack of confidence and unconsciously walked to Zhan Weiguang’s side, wanting to seek recognition, “Is Yang ge having an episode?”

Zhan Weiguang glared at him fiercely, and Zhan Xiusong was shocked and dared not speak anymore.

“Zhan Weiyang,” Zhan Weiguang said in a low voice, “It’s just a flowerpot. Just ask Zhan Xiusong to compensate you.”

       Zhan Weiyang ignored him.

At this time, Pei Qing heard the noise outside and came out of his room. He walked to the balcony and saw Zhan Weiyang’s cracked flowerpot at a glance. He paused for a moment before continuing to walk over.

He walked to Zhan Weiyang and squatted down, calling him, “Yangyang?”

Zhan Weiyang turned his head to look at him and said, “My flowerpot was broken by him.” His tone was so sad that he seemed to be about to cry.

Pei Qing heard this and glanced at Zhan Xiusong.

Zhan Xiusong had just been glared at by Zhan Weiguang, and when he saw Pei Qing looking at him with a very stern look, he was speechless and could only stand quietly.

Pei Qing said to him in a gentle tone, “If it’s broken, let’s go buy a new one, okay?”

Zhan Weiyang stared at the flowerpot and didn’t speak.

Pei Qing said again, “You can buy the exact same one at the flower market last time.”

Zhan Weiyang touched the crack of the flower pot with his fingers and said, “But this is my flower pot.” He couldn’t even think of a nice name for it, and it was stepped on and broken into two pieces.

Zhan Weiguang came over, stood beside him and looked down at him, saying, “Zhan Weiyang, just make a fuss. Qing ge said to buy you an identical one, what more do you want?”

Zhan Weiyang looked at him and said, “I don’t want to talk to you.”

Zhan Weiguang felt as if a breath was caught in his throat.

Zhan Weiyang looked at Pei Qing again and said, “The new one is not it.”

Pei Qing saw that Zhan Weiyang kept touching the crack with his fingers, so he reached out to hold his hand and pulled it away from the flower pot, saying, “Then do you want to fix it?”

Zhan Weiyang asked with a little hope, “Can you?”

Pei Qing said, “There should be glue specially used to repair ceramics. Gege will buy it for you, okay?”

       Zhan Weiyang nodded quickly.

Pei Qing stood up, put his hands in his trouser pockets. He looked at Zhan Xiusong, and said, “Xiusong, shouldn’t you apologise to your brother?”

Zhan Xiusong moved his lips, still trying to be stubborn, “Can’t I just give him a flower pot?”

Pei Qing’s tone was unusually gloomy, “He doesn’t need it. I think you should apologise to him.”

Zhan Xiusong looked at Zhan Weiguang.

Zhan Weiguang said to him impatiently, “Go apologise.”

Zhan Xiusong walked in front of Zhan Weiyang, tangled for a while, dragged his voice and said insincerely, “Yang ge, I was wrong. Don’t be mad. If you need, I can get you another flowerpot.”

Zhan Weiyang stood up and said, “You have to apologise for my flower pot.”

“What?” Zhan Xiusong felt that he was really sick in his head.

Zhan Weiyang said, “Go bow to my flower pot three times and say sorry.” His expression and tone were serious.

Zhan Xiusong asked, “So your flower pot is dead?”

Zhan Weiyang said, “It’s broken into two pieces!”

Zhan Xiusong opened his mouth and was speechless for a moment. Logically speaking, if it was broken into two pieces, it was indeed dead, but he thought it was too stupid to bow to a flower pot, so he couldn’t help but ask, “Then do you want to light a stick of incense?”

Zhan Weiyang said, “Then you light it!”

Zhan Xiusong was furious, “I won’t! You’re crazy! I’m not talking to you!” With that, he turned and left the balcony.
