Chapter 24 – Wanwan, I want to see you

Chapter 24 – Wanwan, I want to see you.

Xing Zhongwan picked up the wine glass and tipped his head back, cleanly drinking the red wine in it, “Weigh it clearly in my heart? It’s not like I want to live with him. I have to find some time to go back to Xing’s house and properly settle my mother’s affairs. When everything’s done, I’ll leave.”

“I’m afraid that someone won’t let you go by then, Young Madam Qi, hahaha.” Xue Qing looked at Xing Zhongwan and couldn’t help notice his dark mood. It was too funny and she couldn’t bear not to tease him.

Xing Zhongwan glanced at his watch, “I have to go back. After you schedule the time for the check-up appointment, do inform me. You should also stop contacting Chen Ying.”

Xue Qing nodded, “I understand. Hey, are you not gonna accompany me for drinks? Going back to being a nanny so soon, Laoxing, when did you have such a high level of conscience? Is there something between you and Qi Yun that we don’t know? I don’t believe that you’re this kind or could it be… you fell for him?”

Xing Zhongwan rolled his eyes, “Put away your unfounded claims. Don’t learn from Chengzheng, someone who spends his days as neither male nor female. Go back to rest if you can. Don’t go sleeping around now and get back to me as soon as you finish scheduling the appointment.”

Xue Qing stared at him, wide-eyed, “Damn, I just arrived and now you’re driving me away. Lao Xing, you really have no conscience. Who was it that even brought you here? Did you forget…”

Xing Zhongwan put on his trench coat and didn’t bother to look back at her, “Hey, lend me your car to drive.”

Xue Qing threw her car keys over and Xing Zhongwan raised his hand to catch it, “Thank you.”

Xing Zhongwan got in the car, but did not start the engine. After sitting quietly for a few minutes, Xue Qing’s words did not sound unreasonable.

It’s just that Qi Yun’s words and deeds piqued his interest. If he did know that he was a man, then… He has never heard about Qi Yun swinging the other way.

Xing Zhongwan felt a chilll run down his back. He was supposed to only be repaying a favour, yet he’s probably somehow turned someone gay in doing so. When he was young, he said that he wanted to marry Qi Yun, but that some mindless comment he had said as an innocent child. Plus, at that time he mistook the other for a girl. Xing Zhongwan stomped on the accelerator. This was annoying him to death.

Xing Zhongwan got out of the car. Before entering the gates, he saw Qi Yun sitting in a wheelchair like a stone statue. Awkwardly, he lowered his head and coughed, walking over to him slowly, “Why didn’t you go in? It’s cold outside.”

Qi Yun raised his head and asked indifferently, “You came back?”

Xing Zhongwan looked at Qi Yun’s pale face. When he returned, his irritation suddenly disappeared. He bent down to his level and re-dr4p3d the shawl that was slipping off Qi Yun’s shoulders, “Have you not eaten? What do you want to eat? I will make it for you.”

Qi Yun looked at Xing Zhongwan silently with bloodshot eyes,

Xing Zhongwan asked, “Have you been sitting here waiting for me? They said that I’ll be fine, why are you so disobedient?”

Qi Yun stretched out his hands and placed It on Xing Zhongwan’s shoulders, “Come here, Wanwan.”

Xing Zhongwan leaned forward a little, following his words. Qi Yun did the same and embraced Xing Zhongwan. Xing Zhongwan struggled against him but Qi Yun leaned his face on his shoulder, “Wanwan, let me hold you for a while.”

Xing Zhongwan was stunned. He then sighed, “Qi Yun, you…”

“Don’t talk.”

Qi Yun whiffed the scent of pine wood on Xing Zhongwan’s body and clasped his hands on his back. You came back, Wanwan.

It’s good that you’re back by my side, Wanwan. That you’re still here.

Xing Zhongwan’s body was a little stiff and Xue Qing’s words kept flashing in his mind. He stepped back a bit and looked at Qi Yun, “I will push you inside and make you some food.”

Qi Yun had his hands stretched out blankly, still maintaining the hug. In this position, the blush on his neck faded little by little, and he replied faintly, “Okay.”

Xing Zhongwan made a simple bowl of noodles drizzled with sesame oil and some chives. He placed it in front of Qi Yun, “It smells good, hurry up and eat it while it’s hot.” He handed Qi Yun a fork. Qi Yun took it and ate silently. Xing Zhongwan poured a glass of water and sat beside Qi Yun. The villa was very quiet at night. There is only the slight clinking of cutlery against the bowl.

Qi Yun ate it very attentively and even finished the bowl of noodles cleanly. Xing Zhongwan placed the bowl in the sink and Qi Yun said, “Did my mother make trouble for you?” Xing Zhongwan washed his hands, “No, she asked me to take good care of you.”

Qi Yun put his hands neatly on the dining table, “I couldn’t protect you. I watched you get taken away, but I couldn’t do anything.”

“What are you talking about, hey, what’s the matter with your hands?” Xing Zhongwan realized now that much of Qi Yun’s fingernails were broken and there were dark streaks of dried blood.

Xing Zhongwan grabbed Qi Yun’s hand, “Did you scratch at the ground?”

Qi Yun pulled away his hands and turned his head away, “No.” A trace of anger flashed across Xing Zhongwan’s face, “Did that old woman bully you again? I’m going to find her.”

“Wanwan!” Qi Yun grabbed his hand and Xing Zhongwan turned his head in annoyance. He wasn’t speaking clearly, “Don’t your hands hurt? When you’re in pain, you won’t utter a word and only keep enduring it in silence. Why don’t you make your middle name Mother Teresa or something?”

As Qi Yun was scolded inexplicably, he had an innocent expression as his long lashes trembled. Here it comes again, that pitiful image of being bullied. Xing Zhongwan sat down angrily, “Spit it out! What’s the matter?”

Qi Yun’s hand tried to pull on Xing Zhongwan’s but he was slapped. He pulled again but was slapped by his palms. This went back and forth several times. Xing Zhongwan finally lost his temper, “You don’t want to spit it out? Alright, I’m leaving.”

After Xing Zhongwan finished speaking, Qi Yun grabbed onto his clothes in a panic, “I was just angry with myself, I couldn’t protect you. You, I…”

Qi Yun’s face was pale, “My mother has a difficult way of doing things and I’m afraid she will make it hard for you. As I am now, I can’t, can’t…”

Qi Yun couldn’t go on. It was difficult for a person who was once so proud to admit his own incompetence.

Xing Zhongwan took a deep breath, “Qi Yun, I am not as fragile as you think, and I have the ability to protect myself.”

Xing Zhongwan was a little at a loss. He gulped down his own anger.

“I’ll carry you up. It’s late now so you should rest early and continue recovering tomorrow.” As he said this, he let Qi Yun climb onto his back.

Qi Yun stretched out his hands and hugged Xing Zhongwan’s neck tightly, “Wanwan, promise me you won’t leave!”

Xing Zhongwan was about to get up but he stopped to take a deep breath, “Qi Yun, I’m a ma…”

“All I know is that you are Wanwan, the Wanwan that has been with me and that’s enough. Everything else is not important.”

Xing Zhongwan grabbed Qi Yun’s legs and carried him on his back. He got up and walked the stairs step by step. The heartbeat of the man on his back could be clearly felt when their bodies were this close to each other.

Qi Yun raised his head and gently dropped a kiss on Xing Zhongwan’s neck. Xing Zhongwan retracted his neck, “What are you doing?”

Qi Yun didn’t say a word as his arms around Xing Zhongwan’s hands tightened, but those eyes that were originally fragile were cold and bloodshot looked terrifying at this moment.

The date of the appointment was quickly set and Xing Zhongwan accompanied Qi Yun for the examination. It was surprising that Professor Gao turned out to be a youthful person.

Seeing Xing Zhongwan’s eyes, the woman with an intelligent and reserved look couldn’t help but reveal a hint of surprise, “So you are the one that Ah Zhe often talks about, meeting you once really betrays the thousands of times I’ve heard of you.”

Xing Zhongwan shook hands with her, “Your Chinese is really good! Zhengzhe should’ve explained my situation to you. Please don’t mention anything about me to anyone else.”

Professor Gao spread his hands, “Don’t worry, I am a doctor. I am only interested in treating my patients.”

Xing Zhongwan smiled, “Then I’m counting on you.”

Xue Qing did not come this time. Of course she wanted to take the opportunity to watch how Qi Yun was feeling now, but Xing Zhongwan didn’t allow it. Xue Qing felt aggrieved. After sending Professor Gao here, she went back to the hotel.

Xing Zhongwan was standing at the end of the corridor and eating a lollipop. Chen Ying walked behind him at some unknown time. “It has been some long time, Young Madam.”

Xing Zhongwan turned around and looked at him, “It hasn’t been that long, we saw each other half a month ago.” Chen Ying smiled, “I was able to invite Professor Gao this time without any problems thanks to the Young Madam.”

Xing Zhongwan looked at him for a while, “I didn’t help much. If you want to thank someone, you should thank Xue Qing.”

“Miss Xue… of course, I would like to thank her too. Master Yun seems to trust Young Madam very much. The doctor said that the condition of his legs have improved. It’s not bad progress and I think the reason for this was mostly because of you, Young Madam.”

Xing Zhongwan raised his narrow eyes, “What do you mean?”

Chen Ying said, “I just wanted to explain that the Young Madam is very important to the Young Master and that I will have to bother the Young Madam more in the future.”

Xing Zhongwan snorted coldly and Chen Ying no longer spoke.

An hour later, the examination room door opened. Professor Gao came out and looked at Xing Zhongwan. Xing Zhongwan said, “What do you think?”

The patient’s brain has a blood clot and it’s putting pressure against the optic nerve, “Did he not get it checked out years prior?”

Professor Gao’s eyes were narrowed and Xing Zhongwan looked at Chen Ying suspiciously but Chen Ying remained calm.

“Too much time has passed. If you went with the operation at that time, I would be 80% sure, but now… the chances are less than 50%.”

Less than 50%…

“What will happen if you fail?”

Professor Gao smiled, “The location of the clot is not good. If you decide to go on with the operation, you must be mentally prepared. At the same time, I will have a consultation with more experts in this area. You have to think about it clearly and tell me your decision.”

Xing Zhongwan felt his throat going dry. Even the words he said felt bitter, “Does Qi Yun know?”

“I have already told him as the patient has the right to know of his own condition. You can go in and see him.”

Xing Zhongwan walked quickly into the examination room as Chen Ying looked at his back thoughtfully.

Qi Yun was lying on the hospital bed. There was only the sound of the instrument in the examination room. It was oddly quiet.

As Xing Zhongwan slowly approached, Qi Yun opened his eyes.

“Is that you, Wanwan?”

Xing Zhongwan said an ‘en’ and asked, “Qi Yun, have you come to a decision?”

The corners of Qi Yun’s mouth curled up slightly and he looked in the direction of Xing Zhongwan’s voice, “Wanwan, I want to see you. I want to know what you look like.”

T/N: Hello, hello! I hope you are all doing great~

I don’t have much to say, except if you or another family member is in need of some medical procedure, it usually isn’t a good idea to delay it. If the only thing stopping you/them from getting the surgery they need is fear, then you/they should probably go ahead with the surgery asap. Letting the illness fester will cause it to become harder to treat in the future. In the case of financial difficulty, I would advice (if possible) for you to get a loan/insurance/some financial assistance. These kind of things may seem scary, but I’m with you every step of the way, may you find the courage to face the reality of the situation. Hopefully you will have people in your life that will help share the burden and cast those fears and worries of yours aside.

Of course, this applies to many things in life and not just illnesses. For example, it could be your college applications or selling your childhood home for the sake of moving away and out to start a new life in a new state or country. All I’m trying to say is that we must eventually face our fears and grow as a person because we cannot just stay in one place. I heard this quote that goes “In life, you’re one of two things. If you’re not growing, then you’re dying”, and I believe it means that we have to always move forward, I think haha. Enough of all that serious talk, whatever stage of life you may be in, I hope you’re doing well and always strive to do better. Maybe for the sake of those who have loved you and is loving you. You can’t let yourself be bullied, after all, it’ll not only make your loved ones sad, you’re kinda also letting them down or betraying them (?)

They placed their faith, trust and confidence in you, or in raising you; so you must take care of yourself toOo (ɔ◔‿◔)ɔ ♥

Consider liking the writer’s work or buying a kofi for me <3 who knows, might update a lil faster hehe

Somehow it’s nice seeing Zhongwan try to confess that he’s a man many times (or not that many?) and Qi Yun interrupt the confession every single time. Though of course our ml’s thought may be something like ‘I don’t care if you’re ugly whatsoever I’ll still like you’. Or maybe he did know our mc is a man? As blind as he is, even with hearing ‘Miss Xing’ all the time, I still don’t believe he’s that dumb.
Seriously I feel like killing Qi Yun’s family for the obvious medical neglect.
Thanks for the chapter! And the nice advice as well!
