Chapter 36 – I want to bite the dog man back!

Chapter 36 – I want to bite the dog man back!

Zhao Qi tensed all over when Rong Tang embraced him like this, feeling waves of heat rising to his head.

This wasn’t their first intimate contact. Zhao Qi had been forcibly restrained by Rong Tang several times before, almost having his dragon egg squeezed to bursting. But until last night, no matter how close they were, he had never felt like this before. Normally, they were both men, and he was used to touching and joking around with his buddies, nothing serious.

However, everything had changed because of last night. He was no longer the carefree, happy straight guy he used to be; now, he was someone who had experienced both pain and pleasure with another man… a poor soul indeed. Just the thought that Rong Tang might be the one who had given him such conflicting feelings made him unable to meet those godly handsome looks head-on.

In his heart, Zhao Qi lamented: Ah, could it be that he no longer deserved the title of “straight guy”?

Before Zhao Qi could respond, Rong Tang tightened his grip a bit. “Zhao Qi?”

Zhao Qi struggled to maintain composure. “I’m afraid not.”

Rong Tang raised an eyebrow. “?”

“I am a sovereign of a nation. I meet many ministers every day. How could I possibly focus on just one person like you?” Zhao Qi said, “Unless we were stranded on a deserted island with no one else.”

Rong Tang smiled faintly. “That sounds nice.”

Zhao Qi couldn’t understand what was good about it. He couldn’t bear this ambiguous, uncertain atmosphere. Summoning courage, he turned around to meet Rong Tang’s calm gaze. “Rong Tang.”

“Hmm?”

Carefully choosing his words, Zhao Qi asked, “Last night, I drank too much. I don’t remember much. I didn’t do anything to you, did I?”

Rong Tang paused. “…”

Perhaps it was Zhao Qi’s imagination, but he felt that Rong Tang seemed a bit… shy?

Rong Tang cleared his throat lightly. “You called my name, and then I…” His gaze fell on Zhao Qi’s lips. “I didn’t expect you to bite so hard. I’m sorry.”

Instinctively, Zhao Qi covered his mouth. Indeed, he was right; his lips were bitten by Rong Tang. This was disastrous; his ideal image of Rong Tang as a celestial being was crumbling—how could a celestial man bite someone!

Rong Tang seemed amused by Zhao Qi’s reaction, a hint of a smile in his eyes. “It’s my lack of experience. It won’t happen again.”

Weakly leaning on the table, Zhao Qi sighed, “Yes, there won’t be a next time.” He would never repeat the mistake of last night. “After biting me, did you… do anything else to me?”

Rong Tang frowned slightly. “What do you mean?”

The words “did you top me” stuck in Zhao Qi’s throat. His face flushed; he couldn’t bring himself to say it.

Zhao Qi gave up and changed the subject. “Someone saw you meeting with the Prince Huai in the Imperial Garden.”

Rong Tang’s expression changed slightly.

“What did you both talk about?” Without waiting for Rong Tang’s answer, Zhao Qi continued, “Actually, I already know. Prince Huai has always wanted to rescue you from the palace. Yesterday, he probably brought it up again.”

Rong Tang did not deny it. “The palace banquet was crowded and noisy. He asked me to disguise myself as his attendant and seize the opportunity to leave the palace.”

“You didn’t agree because you knew I would let you leave the palace?” Zhao Qi asked.

“That’s one reason.”

“Are there other reasons?”

“Yeah.”

“What?”

Rong Tang looked at him. “You.”

Zhao Qi paused. “Oh…”

The two stared at each other for a long time. Zhao Qi tried to decipher something from the myriad emotions in Rong Tang’s eyes, but with his emotional intelligence, all he could see was Rong Tang staring at him like he was a fool, his expression bewildered and helpless.

”Your Majesty, let’s return to Yonghua Palace,” Rong Tang suggested, “that is where Your Majesty’s chambers are.”

”Hmm…” Zhao Qi almost agreed, “Let’s discuss it tomorrow. I’ll inform the Prime Minister tonight.”

Rong Tang’s tone was indifferent, “Your Majesty needs the Chancellor’s permission to decide where to sleep?”

”Exactly,” Zhao Qi complained, “You have no idea how tightly he controls me.”

After a moment of silence, Rong Tang compromised, “Alright. You can stay at Haiyan Hall tonight, but in the future, return to Yonghua Palace—I’ll wait for you.”

Zhao Qi thought Rong Tang believed both Haiyan Hall and Yonghua Palace were part of his harem. Tonight he would favor one person, and tomorrow he would need to favor another to maintain harmony in the harem.

After Rong Tang left, Zhao Qi turned over the paper with writing on it and, after careful consideration, circled the character ‘Rong’ of his name.

Before bed, Jiang Dehai helped Zhao Qi change clothes and noticed bite marks on his shoulder. “Your Majesty, does it hurt here?”

Zhao Qi shrugged. It did hurt a bit, but his whole body ached almost to numbness. The pain on his shoulder was nothing compared to somewhere else. “It’s alright.”

Jiang Dehai said worriedly, “These marks are deep. I saw blood.”

”Really?” Zhao Qi turned to look and couldn’t help but curse, “Damn, is that person even human?”

Jiang Dehai anxiously said, “Your Majesty, if these marks scar, what should we do?”

Gritting his teeth, Zhao Qi vowed, “Then I’ll bite back until he can’t function!”

Jiang Dehai sighed helplessly, “Let me apply some medicine for Your Majesty. There’s still plenty left of the ‘Jade Dew Snow Lotus Paste’ that Master Zhao Si brought last year.”

Zhao Qi snorted, “Zhao Qiao sells fake medicine. I dare not use his.”

Despite his words, Zhao Qi still let Jiang Dehai apply the medicine. He didn’t want any reminders of his life’s stains on his body.

As Jiang Dehai applied the medicine, he commented, “These bite marks have two circles. Did that person feel one bite wasn’t enough and had to add another?”

The cool ointment was comforting on his skin. Zhao Qi half-closed his eyes and muttered angrily, “Damn scoundrel.”

Jiang Dehai asked, “Your Majesty, I saw you circled the character ‘Rong’. Does this mean the ‘scoundrel’ is Young Master Rong?”

Zhao Qi shook his head, “I’m not completely sure yet. But…” He licked the corner of his split lip, wondering if Rong Tang had taken his first kiss.

Because of the ointment on his shoulder, Zhao Qi could only sleep on his stomach. The feeling of pressure on his chest was uncomfortable, making it feel like he couldn’t breathe even in his dreams.

Suffocating, hot, he tossed and turned in bed, his cheeks flushed, sweat pouring down like rain, his long hair sticking to his face, blocking his view.

A pair of cool hands touched his forehead. It was like a lost wanderer in the desert seeing an oasis, eagerly leaning towards the person and murmuring vaguely, “Help me take it off… so hot…”

Without hesitation, those hands skillfully removed his last piece of clothing. Yet he was still not satisfied, still hot. He knew only the man beside him could help.

The man’s fingers brushed his cheek, coming slowly to his slightly open mouth. His tone was cold, “If no one else touched you, how did this happen?”

He didn’t understand what the man was saying, instinctively taking those slender fingers into his mouth, kissing them to please.

The man’s breathing grew heavier, suddenly flipping him over from behind, covering him, gripping his shoulders, sternly asking, “And this? How did this happen?”

  Zhao Qi shook his head, “I don’t know, I don’t know…”

”If I hadn’t arrived in time, you…” The man didn’t finish his sentence, instead stripping himself, turning Zhao Qi’s face towards him, and biting his mouth roughly, covering the previous marks.

Wide-eyed, Zhao Qi stared blankly. Besides the fluttering gauze, he couldn’t see anything. The voice in his ears made his heart race even more, even the man was amazed at his response. “You like this so much, hmm?” He whispered by Zhao Qi’s ear, lightly laughing, “It’s so wet here.”

  …

Startled awake from his dream, Zhao Qi gasped for breath, realizing he was drenched in sweat. A voice sounded beside him, “Awake?”

Seeing the person sitting by the bed, Zhao Qi was momentarily stunned, unable to distinguish between dream and reality for a while before saying, “Brother?”

In the faint light, Xiao Shiqing’s face seemed clouded, “Hmm. Just got back, came to see you. Your face, very flushed.”

Zhao Qi used the back of his hand to feel the warmth on his cheeks, “A little.”

Xiao Shiqing frowned, “Are you feverish?”

Zhao Qi wiped his sweat, “I don’t think so. I just had a, uh, nightmare.”

”A nightmare?” Xiao Shiqing chuckled, “A nightmare that looks so amorous. Your Majesty truly is talented.”

Zhao Qi forced a dry laugh, “N-nothing like that. What time is it now?”

Xiao Shiqing poured a cup of tea and handed it to him, “Just past midnight.”

Taking a sip of the cool tea, Zhao Qi felt much better, “It’s so late already. Has Brother been busy?”

Xiao Shiqing replied, “Chen Li has identified the poison that afflicted the Western Xia Crown Prince.”

Zhao Qi hurriedly asked, “What poison?”

  ”Feng Return Powder.”

Zhao Qi was taken aback. He knew this poison; it was a secret drug of the Grand Jing Palace, typically used to execute imperial concubines, hence its name “Feng Return”.

”So, you’re saying the one who poisoned the Western Xia Crown Prince is someone from within the palace?”

Xiao Shiqing nodded slightly, “That’s a possibility. But if you were the culprit, would you use such a blatantly identifying poison?”

Understanding dawned on Zhao Qi, excitement rising, “This is a setup, an attempt to sow discord between us and Western Xia!”

Xiao Shiqing ruffled his hair, “You’ve thought this through. You’ve learned a lot recently.”

Zhao Qi smiled awkwardly, “Brother, should we inform Western Xia about this?”

  ”Yes.”

Zhao Qi was surprised for a moment, then quickly realized, “Anyway, if we don’t say it, the one who poisoned will find a way to let Western Xia know. It’s better if we tell them ourselves.”

  ”Mm.”

Zhao Qi looked worried, “But the people from Western Xia won’t think this through. Once they learn about Feng Return Powder, they’ll surely escalate the situation.”

Xiao Shiqing casually replied, “Let them make a fuss. You don’t need to worry about it. Taking care of your health is more important.”

Zhao Qi suddenly recalled the scenes from his dream earlier, cautiously probing, “Brother, why do I need to take care of my health? I’m not sick.”

Xiao Shiqing glanced down at him, “Didn’t you say your waist hurts?”

”Oh, right.” Zhao Qi felt embarrassed, “It’s my waist, haha, getting old, you know.”

He must have been overthinking. There’s no way Xiao Shiqing, the dignified Prime Minister, could be that scoundrel who would say embarrassing things like “flooding”…

After studying him for a moment, Xiao Shiqing suddenly said, “I haven’t given you your birthday gift yet.”

”Oh,” Zhao Qi grinned, “I thought you forgot.”

”I didn’t.” Xiao Shiqing handed him an exquisite sandalwood box, “Open it and see.”

Chapter 64

After dinner, Auntie Luo cleaned the table and washed the dishes while Zhan Xueqing held Grandma’s hand and talked to her on the first floor.

Before leaving, Zhan Weiguang said to Zhan Xueqing, “You sleep in Weiyang’s room. It has been cleaned up for you.”

Zhan Xueqing made an okay gesture to him.

Zhan Weiyang went back to his room to pack a few clothes before Zhan Xueqing came up and then went into Pei Qing’s room with him.

His pillow and quilt had been brought over. If Zhan Xueqing wanted to stay here for a vacation, he could sleep with Pei Qing openly for a vacation.

When Zhan Weiyang came in, Pei Qing was on the phone by the window, seemingly discussing work matters. So, he quietly put on his pyjamas and went to the bathroom to shower.

When he came out of the shower, Zhan Weiyang met Zhan Xueqing, who had just come up to the second floor in the corridor.

Zhan Xueqing looked a little tired. She finished her last exam yesterday and left school today, dragging her suitcase to the airport to take a plane. Until now, she has not had time to rest, and she really feels tired. But when she saw Zhan Weiyang, she still smiled and greeted him and asked him, “Have you finished your shower?”

       Zhan Weiyang nodded.

Zhan Xueqing pointed in the direction of Zhan Weiyang’s door and asked, “This is your room, am I right?”

       Zhan Weiyang nodded again, “Yes.”

Zhan Xueqing was about to walk towards the door but stopped after two steps. She asked Zhan Weiyang, “Which room does Pei Qing stay in?”

       Zhan Weiyang pointed.

Zhan Xueqing smiled and said, “Got it.” After that, she asked Zhan Weiyang, “Where do you sleep at night?”

Zhan Weiyang pointed to Pei Qing’s room again.

“Oh?” Zhan Xueqing’s tone was a little surprised, “You sleep with him?”

       Zhan Weiyang nodded.

Zhan Xueqing glanced at the closed door of Pei Qing’s room, “Is he willing to sleep with you?”

       Zhan Weiyang said, “Mmm.”

Zhan Xueqing smiled and said, “That’s unexpected. Well, go and rest.”

Zhan Weiyang said to her, “Good night, Qing jie.”

Zhan Xueqing raised one hand and shook it, “Good night, Yangyang.”

Zhan Weiyang entered Pei Qing’s room, closed the door behind him, and saw that Pei Qing had already finished his call. However, Pei Qing was still looking down, typing messages on his phone. Zhan Weiyang walked to the bed, took off his shoes, and crawled across the bed towards Pei Qing. He reached out and tugged on Pei Qing’s shirt.

Pei Qing stretched out one hand to hug him, and the other hand was still sending messages. He looked down at the mobile phone screen intently and asked, “Have you taken the medicine?”

Zhan Weiyang took medicine every morning and evening.

“Ah!” Zhan Weiyang said, “I forgot!”

Pei Qing put his fingers into Zhan Weiyang’s hair, rubbed it hard, and asked, “Where is your medicine?”

Zhan Weiyang said, “It’s still in my room.”

Pei Qing patted his back, “Go get it.”

Zhan Weiyang remembered that Zhan Xueqing was currently staying in his room and didn’t want to go. He grabbed Pei Qing’s arm and said, “Go get it for me.”

Unexpectedly, Pei Qing said directly, “Go get it yourself, go quickly, I’ll get you a cup of hot water.”

After that, Pei Qing reached out and lifted Zhan Weiyang from the bed and asked, “Where are your slippers?”

Zhan Weiyang quickly hugged Pei Qing’s neck and said, “On the opposite side.”

Pei Qing carried him over, gently put him down and let him put on his shoes, then took his hand and led him out of the room, then let go and said, “Go get the medicine.” Then Pei Qing walked towards the stairs by himself.

Zhan Weiyang walked to the door of his room, raised his hand and knocked on the door gently. He heard Zhan Xueqing’s voice from inside, “Who is it?”

       Zhan Weiyang said, “It’s me.”

       Zhan Xueqing said, “Come in.”

Zhan Weiyang opened the door and walked in. He saw Zhan Xueqing sitting by the bed, flipping through a book in her hand, which was Zhan Weiyang’s comic book.

He felt a little uncomfortable, walked in and called out, “Qing jie.”

Zhan Xueqing raised the book in her hand and shook it. She then said with a smile, “Are you still reading comics?”

Zhan Weiyang said, ‘Mmm’. He looked at his desk and the bookshelf above, and then looked at the closed drawer, trying to recall if there was anything in his drawer.

Zhan Xueqing stood up, put the book back on the bookcase, and said, “I didn’t go through your things, don’t worry.”

Zhan Weiyang didn’t say anything. He walked to the bedside table, squatted down, opened the drawer, and took out the medicine inside.

Zhan Xueqing walked up to him, bent down to look, and said curiously, “Are you sick?”

       Zhan Weiyang said, “Yes.”

Zhan Xueqing asked him, “Cold?” She didn’t see the name of the medicine clearly.

Zhan Weiyang stuffed all the medicine into his pyjama pocket, not wanting to answer the question, and just said, “I’ll go.”

       Zhan Xueqing nodded, “Go ahead.”

The room’s door had been open since Zhan Weiyang came in. When Zhan Weiyang walked to the door, Pei Qing came up from downstairs with a glass of water and passed through the corridor.

“Qing ge,” Zhan Weiyang called him.

Pei Qing said, “Go back and take the medicine.”

Zhan Weiyang walked out and followed Pei Qing to go back to the next room.

At this time, Zhan Xueqing also followed him out, stood at the door, poked her head out, and called out, “Pei Qing.”

Pei Qing stopped and looked back at her, Zhan Weiyang also stopped and looked at Zhan Xueqing with some surprise.

Zhan Xueqing said, “You’ve become a different person when you’re a guest in someone’s home.”

Pei Qing did not respond to her but just put his arm around Zhan Weiyang’s shoulders and said, “Let’s go back.”

Zhan Weiyang looked at Zhan Xueqing again and went back to the room with Pei Qing.

The water temperature was just right, not too cold or too hot. Zhan Weiyang took the medicine with the water. After swallowing it with difficulty, he counted how much medicine was left, then looked up and said to Pei Qing, “I have to see the doctor again next week.”

Pei Qing took the cup of water, put it aside, and asked him, “Are you scared?”

Zhan Weiyang thought about it and replied, “Not scared, the doctor can cure me.”

He hadn’t heard those voices from before for a long time, and he now truly believed that the doctor could cure him.

Pei Qing smiled and said, “That’s good.”

As he lay in bed, ready to sleep, Zhan Weiyang said, “Dad hasn’t come back today.”

“It’s the end of the year, and your father has a lot of social activities,” Pei Qing reached out to help him tuck the covers back on.

Actually, there was another thing that Pei Qing didn’t tell Zhan Weiyang. Now that almost half a year has passed, Pei Qing’s internship should be over. After the Chinese New Year, when the next semester starts, Pei Qing will go back to school first.

Zhan Weiyang didn’t know about these things yet, and he didn’t think about whether Pei Qing’s internship was about to end. He was just happy that he could live with Pei Qing during this period.

Pei Qing just reached out to turn off the light and lie down when they suddenly heard a knock on the door.

Zhan Weiyang asked curiously, “Who is it?”

Pei Qing got up, turned on the light, walked to the door, and opened the door.

Zhan Xueqing stood at the door and asked Pei Qing when she saw him, “How do I turn on the hot water?”

Pei Qing looked back at Zhan Weiyang and saw him lying on the bed wrapped in a quilt and looking over here. So he walked out, went into the bathroom, and pointed to Zhan Xueqing, “Here is the hot water.”

After that, he asked Zhan Xueqing, “Any other questions?”

       Zhan Xueqing said, “No more.”

Pei Qing nodded and walked towards the room.

Zhan Xueqing suddenly called him, “Pei Qing, don’t you have anything to say to me?”

Pei Qing didn’t even look back, just said “No” a little coldly and then closed the door.

Zhan Weiyang was lying on the bed and heard their conversation. He couldn’t help but look up and ask, “Did you quarrel with Qing jie?”

       Pei Qing said, “No.”

He came back to the bed and lay down, turned off the light, then hugged Zhan Weiyang in his arms, patted his back gently, and said, “Go to sleep.”

Zhan Weiyang put his face in his arms and closed his eyes.

Chapter 63

Zhan Weiguang sat in the back row and watched them. He suddenly felt that Zhan Weiyang’s reliance on Pei Qing was a bit too much, which made him feel uncomfortable. However, he couldn’t quite explain the specifics why.

So he called out, “Zhan Weiyang.” His tone wasn’t very nice, and his voice was a bit low.

Zhan Weiyang heard it but didn’t want to pay attention to him. He just lowered his head slightly and drank the milk tea in small sips with a straw. He still remembered that Pei Qing told him to drink it slowly.

Zhan Weiguang took out a packaged straw from the bag under his feet and reached out to knock Zhan Weiyang’s head.

Zhan Weiyang turned his head and glared at him, still not talking to him, and turned his head back.

When Pei Qing drove the car to the airport, it was almost half an hour later than the arrival time of the plane. In fact, they were not too late. If Zhan Xueqing had luggage to check in, she might not have come out yet.

They parked the car in the parking lot and walked into the terminal. When Pei Qing was still looking at the display screen to find the exit for Zhan Xueqing’s flight number, Zhan Weiyang had already seen Zhan Xueqing. He pulled Pei Qing’s sleeve and said, “Qing jie.”

Pei Qing looked up and saw Zhan Xueqing sitting on her suitcase in the middle of the arrival hall, staring out the floor-to-ceiling glass window.

Zhan Xueqing was very beautiful, with the soft and traditional appearance of an oriental woman, but she had a neat short haircut, wearing a long black down jacket and jeans, and a pair of white sneakers on her feet.

“Zhan Xueqing,” it was Zhan Weiguang who opened his mouth to call out to her.

Zhan Xueqing turned around, her gaze first swept across Zhan Weiyang and Zhan Weiguang’s faces and finally fell on Pei Qing.

Zhan Weiguang walked towards her and asked her, “When did you arrive?”

Zhan Xueqing stood up from the suitcase, pushed the suitcase towards them, and said, “Arrived a while ago.”

“Qing jie,” Zhan Weiyang greeted. Zhan Xueqing walked up to them, smiled at Zhan Weiyang, stood on tiptoe to touch Zhan Weiyang’s head, and said, “Has Yangyang grown taller?”

Zhan Weiyang also smiled and nodded, “Mmm.”

At this time, Pei Qing said, “Let’s go home first.”

Zhan Xueqing looked at Pei Qing and asked him, “Are you having fun here?”

       Pei Qing said, “Pretty good.”

Zhan Weiguang reached out to take Zhan Xueqing’s suitcase, turned around, and walked outside, saying, “I guess there will be a traffic jam later. Let’s go.”

       The others followed.

Arriving at the parking lot, Zhan Weiguang put Zhan Xueqing’s suitcase in the trunk, and then Pei Qing drove again. Zhan Weiyang sat in the passenger seat, and Zhan Xueqing sat with Zhan Weiguang in the back.

Zhan Weiguang handed the milk tea he bought to Zhan Xueqing and said, “I bought it for you.”

Zhan Xueqing took it and said, “Did you come so late just to buy milk tea?”

Zhan Weiyang hadn’t finished his milk tea yet and was about to continue drinking it, but when he heard Zhan Xueqing’s words, he paused and looked back.

Zhan Weiguang said, “No, it’s because of a traffic jam.”

Zhan Xueqing put the straw into the cup, took a sip of the milk tea that had not yet completely cooled down, and said, “Who knows if it’s true or not?”

Zhan Weiguang said, “If you don’t want to drink it, just return it. We came all this way to pick you up and even bought you milk tea, and you have so many complaints.”

Zhan Xueqing looked at him and said, “It’s been so long since we’ve seen each other, and you haven’t treated me any better.” After that, she said to the front row, “Isn’t that right, Pei Qing?”

Pei Qing started the car and slowly drove out of the car park in a line, saying in a flat tone, “Traffic jam.”

Zhan Xueqing and Zhan Weiguang were born in the same year. Strictly speaking, Zhan Weiguang was a few months older, but they usually called each other by their names and didn’t have the feeling of being siblings.

Zhan Xueqing called Pei Qing’s name directly, which made Zhan Weiguang feel a little strange. He recalled and realised that he couldn’t remember how he addressed Pei Qing the last time Zhan Xueqing and Pei Qing appeared together.

There was still a traffic jam on the way back.

Zhan Weiguang and Zhan Xueqing were in the back row, each looking down at their phones.

Pei Qing turned on the radio, his eyes sweeping across Zhan Weiyang’s face. Seeing that he was focusing on the sound of the radio, he said, “Tune the channel yourself.”

Zhan Weiyang reached out to tune the radio channel, and a channel was playing pop songs, so he changed to another channel and heard Guo Degang1Chinese comedian and actor‘s crosstalk2Crosstalk is a special kind of dialogue and a special kind of performance.

At this point, Zhan Xueqing suddenly looked up and said, “Let’s listen to the song, that station just now.”

Zhan Weiyang did not respond. He wanted to listen to Guo Degang more; his finger was on the FM button, and he looked at Pei Qing.

Pei Qing said, “Listen to whatever you want to listen to.”

Zhan Weiyang slowly released his finger, leaving the channel on Guo Degang.

Zhan Xueqing in the back did not say a word.

After a while, Zhan Weiyang changed the channel back with some torment in his heart, and heard the slow singing coming from inside. He looked up at the rearview mirror and found that he could not see Zhan Xueqing’s expression from this angle, so he looked at Pei Qing again.

Pei Qing didn’t say anything and just smiled.

Although Zhan Weiyang couldn’t hear Guo Degang, at least he didn’t have to worry that Zhan Xueqing would be unhappy, so he sat back at ease. He leaned his head against the car window, closed his eyes and began to doze off.

When they got home, it was past dinner time and it was all dark.

There was a heater in the car, and Zhan Weiyang felt cold the moment he got out. Even though he was wearing a down jacket, the cold wind was blowing on his face and into his neck.

Zhan Weiguang lifted the suitcase down from the back, but Zhan Xueqing had already entered the house. She threw herself into her grandmother’s arms and shouted coquettishly, “Grandma!”

Since her parents divorced, she changed her name and followed her male cousins to call her grandmother3this is supposed to be nainai(grandma from father’s side), and no longer called her grandma4and this is waipo(grandma from mother’s side).

Pei Qing went to park the car. When he came back, he saw Zhan Weiyang still standing outside, and asked him, “Why don’t you go in?”

Zhan Weiyang said, “I’m waiting for you.”

Pei Qing raised his hand and put his arm around his shoulders, saying, “Let’s go in and have dinner.”

Dinner was already prepared, because they knew these people were going to the airport to pick someone up. So those at home were waiting for them to come back and have dinner together.

Everyone sat down around the dining room table, and Auntie Luo brought out the hot dishes from the kitchen one by one.

Zhan Xueqing sat next to her Grandma and leaned on her. She then said, “Wow, so generous today?”

Zhan Weiguang said, “It’s made especially for you.”

       Zhan Xueqing smiled sweetly.

Grandma turned her head to look at her and asked, “Why did you cut your hair so short? It’s too short.”

Zhan Xueqing raised her hand and touched her hair, saying, “Is it short? It’s okay.” After that, she suddenly looked at Pei Qing and asked, “Do you think it’s short?”

Pei Qing sat next to Zhan Weiyang. Seeing Zhan Weiyang trying to pick up the fish on the table, he reached out to help him pick up a large piece and put it in his bowl. At this time, he heard Zhan Xueqing talking to him, looked up and said, “As long as you like it.”

Zhan Xueqing originally had a smile on her face, but it suddenly disappeared. Then she pouted, let out a laugh, and reached for food from the plate in front of Pei Qing with her chopsticks.

They sat on both sides of the long table, facing each other diagonally, and the distance was a little far.

Pei Qing saw that she had just reached it, so he reached out and lifted the plate to move closer to her, letting her pick it up and then put it back calmly.

Zhan Xueqing glanced at him, lowered her head and ate the dish silently.
