Chapter 66 – Affection

Chapter 66: Affection

The old Heavenly Law had perished.

The dark shadows were forcefully dispersed, leaving no room for a single wail or cry, as if an ink stain on white paper had been casually wiped away—silent and imperceptible.

With the death of the old Heavenly Law, the new Heavenly Law officially took its place under the operation of rules, transforming into an eye spanning the sky.

At that moment, all previous emotions were sealed away by the rules and decrees. It was supposed to observe the world impartially and without emotion, yet when it saw the man in black, it couldn’t help but be surprised.

It knew that this man was the Black Dragon, the beloved of the White Phoenix. For thousands of years, it had observed the daily interactions between the White Phoenix and this Black Dragon, even witnessing their terrifying moments of corruption.

But it had never seen the Black Dragon like this—though his appearance and demeanor hadn’t changed, his eyes, once dark golden, now blazed with a brilliant red-gold.

Such red-gold reminded the Heavenly Law of something, but the memory was vague and elusive, even to itself.

Thus, it could only speak, tentatively saying, “You…”

Long Ling, holding his Phoenix, cast a indifferent glance at it.

“You have mistaken me for someone else.”

Heavenly Law: “……”

The eye in the sky seemed to be oppressed by some force, shutting abruptly, and when it opened again, it had become the cold, impartial Heavenly Law.

“Thank you,” it said, no longer gazing at Long Ling’s red-gold eyes but rather stating, “The fate of the previous Heavenly Law will not be repeated.”

Long Ling replied, “I hope so.”

From start to finish, his attitude was aloof because, at this moment, the Phoenix in his arms looked pale, its breath weak and unstable.

Enduring the power of the Heavenly Law had exacted a heavy toll on Su Muluo. Though he was in a state of unconsciousness, his soul felt as if it were being scorched by flames and boiled in a cauldron, a pain beyond endurance.

The residual power of the Heavenly Law was pressing on him, forcefully squeezing his soul out of his body. His consciousness felt like a string stretched to its limit, and his body seemed to twist into segments, on the verge of snapping under the intense pain.

He didn’t know how long this torment lasted—perhaps only a few minutes, but to him, it felt like hundreds of years.

Fortunately, there were strong, warm arms holding him tightly, a powerful and comforting force flowing into him, warming his limbs, pushing the cold and pain out of his bones bit by bit.

The pain gradually faded, and Su Muluo felt as if he were soaking in a hot spring, his entire being uncontrollably relaxing, his battered body and mind finally finding relief.

In his hazy consciousness, he felt someone whispering in his ear—a man’s voice, soothing and comforting, gently kissing his brows and face.

He curled up in the man’s embrace like a bird returning home, instinctively drawing warmth from him.

Then came a long sleep. Su Muluo didn’t know how long he had slept, only remembering that he had many dreams. In these dreams, there were elders, frost lilies, his people… and Long Ling.

He saw his dragon growing from a youth to an adult, the dark golden eyes changing from pure dependence to passionate affection, yet always focused on his Phoenix—then, stepping towards him.

“Phoenix,” Long Ling took his hand, his tone carrying a gentle smile, “We’re going home.”

—And with that, Su Muluo woke up.

When he awoke, the sky was already light, the morning sun filtering into the room through a corner of the curtain. He felt himself lying on a very soft large bed, covered with fluffy bedding, and leaning against a man’s chest.

It didn’t seem to be his previous rented apartment. Su Muluo looked up, intending to survey his surroundings, only to meet a pair of dark golden eyes.

Seeing his dragon, Su Muluo was momentarily stunned, noticing that Long Ling’s eyes were no longer blood-red but had returned to their previous dark golden hue. A surge of immense joy filled his heart.

“Long Ling—”

He was about to say something to his dragon when Long Ling pinched his chin and kissed his lips.

The kiss was urgent and forceful, with a hint of possessiveness. Su Muluo even vaguely felt some anger in Long Ling… and somewhat self-consciously held onto his dragon.

Long Ling immediately embraced him tighter and deepened the kiss.

Breath entangled, breathing disordered, after the kiss ended, Su Muluo stared at Long Ling—perhaps it was his illusion, but his dragon’s eyes seemed even brighter than before.

Or rather, his dragon’s originally dark golden eyes now approached a brilliant golden color.

Su Muluo touched Long Ling’s brows and eyes, asking, “What happened to your eyes?”

Long Ling didn’t answer the question. Instead, he held Su Muluo’s hand and kissed the tips of his Phoenix’s fingers.

“I’m going to lock up the Phoenix,” he said, “Does the Phoenix prefer gold chains or silver chains?”

Su Muluo: “……”

Su Muluo exchanged a few seconds of glances with Long Ling before burying himself in the covers.

His sleepwear was a bit large, and looking down, he realized it was Long Ling’s sleepwear—Long Ling always liked him to wear his own sleepwear, which was rather strange.

Seeing his Phoenix silently curl up in the covers, Long Ling ruthlessly pulled back a corner of the blanket and said, “Phoenix, don’t pretend you didn’t hear. I’m angry!”

Su Muluo clutched the corner of the blanket, only showing his eyes, looking somewhat innocently at his dragon.

“But I haven’t done anything,” he said, “And you’re the one who sealed your own memories first. How unfair.”

The Phoenix’s tone was both innocent and soft, but Long Ling’s heart was hard as stone. Determined to “punish” his Phoenix, he pretended not to hear.

“It doesn’t matter,” Long Ling said, “It was the Phoenix who hurt himself first, and it was also the Phoenix who decided to leave me alone, so I—”

Su Muluo leaned in and kissed his lips.

Long Ling: “……”

Long Ling stayed silent, deciding to wait until the kiss ended before dealing with his Phoenix.

However, just as he was about to speak again after the kiss, Su Muluo transformed back into his original form.

A soft, round, and beautiful little Phoenix landed in Long Ling’s palm, lifting its small head and chirping at him.

The chirp was soft and incredibly cute.

Long Ling: “……”

Little Phoenix: “Chirp chirp chirp.”

Don’t be angry.

Then it spread its wings.

Feel my feathers!

Long Ling: “…………”

Long Ling stubbornly refused to touch the feathers at this moment, saying with unwavering resolve, “If the phoenix doesn’t turn back, then I’ll return to my original form—”

“And then what, phoenix?”

The little phoenix was stunned: “??!!”

What kind of nonsense was this!!

So unfair!!!

The little phoenix, infuriated, flew up and pecked Long Ling, then transformed back into his human form with a displeased look, turning his face away from Long Ling.

Long Ling held his hand, wrapping those slender fingers tightly in his own, and after a while said, “This time it’s my fault.”

Su Muluo was slightly taken aback when he saw his dragon lean in and press his forehead against his, saying, “This time it’s all my fault that the phoenix had to take risks, but I promise, there won’t be a next time.”

Long Ling’s voice was deep, his golden eyes focused intently on Su Muluo, filled with self-reproach, guilt, and a profound, unspoken love.

Su Muluo gazed back at him for a few seconds and patted his dragon’s head.

“I was wrong too,” he said, “I shouldn’t have made that decision alone, and I shouldn’t have left you by yourself… Hmm, I won’t do that again.”

Long Ling placed Su Muluo’s palm against his cheek, gently rubbing it, and then hugged his phoenix tightly.

The two didn’t speak further, but words were no longer necessary.

Su Muluo leaned against his dragon’s chest, savoring the warmth and strength he provided, and comfortably closed his eyes.

However, he still had an unanswered question. After a while, he tugged at Long Ling’s shirt and asked, “In the end, was it the way of Heaven that resolved everything?”

He only remembered that he seemed to have been consumed by the polluted source of life… After that, he couldn’t recall what happened.

Long Ling replied, “Maybe.”

Su Muluo looked up at him, and Long Ling added, “I don’t remember that time either, but it should be.”

For some reason, Su Muluo felt that Long Ling’s words were a bit vague, but seeing Long Ling’s expression, there didn’t seem to be anything wrong.

He quietly noted this but didn’t ask further. Instead, he buried his face in Long Ling’s shoulder and rubbed against him.

After everything that had happened over the past few days, he only wanted to curl up in his dragon’s embrace, and nothing else mattered.

At that moment, Long Ling gently lifted his face, kissing his forehead, eyebrows, nose bridge, and then his lips—finally softly nibbling on his tender lips.

Su Muluo: “…”

They stared at each other for a while, and Su Muluo suddenly turned his face away again.

Long Ling: “?”

He seemed to notice that his phoenix’s face had turned red.

So he leaned in and whispered, “Does the phoenix want to say something?”

Su Muluo remained silent.

Long Ling shook him gently and persistently said, “The phoenix definitely wants to say something. Phoenix, phoenix—”

After a while, Su Muluo, with a slightly flushed face and in a soft voice, said, “I want to touch your feathers.”

Long Ling’s eyes sparkled with a smile, his mouth uncontrollably curving up. He happily hugged his phoenix tighter and planted a kiss on Su Muluo’s lips.

“Okay.”

— The morning light was faint, the curtains slightly drawn, creating a perfect moment for lingering and intimacy.

Chapter 84

After lunch, Zhan Pengcheng stood at the door of the second-floor balcony and watched Pei Qing and Zhan Weiyang plant trees together.

Both of them were very serious. Pei Qing even searched online for information on what to pay attention to when transplanting.

Zhan Pengcheng felt sleepy after watching for a while, so he went back to his room and lay down to take a nap.

When Zhan Weiyang bought a flower pot before, he chose a big flower pot that he could squat in. Now, when buying a tree, he chose a small tree. The two filled a whole flower pot with soil to plant the fortune tree, which looked even more compact in the big flower pot.

Pei Qing asked him, “Why buy such a small one?” They could just buy a big fortune tree and plant it in this flower pot.

Zhan Weiyang did not answer but asked, “Will it grow up?”

Pei Qing said, “Of course it will grow up; it will grow up with Yangyang.”

Zhan Weiyang nodded, “I’m afraid it will grow too big, and the flower pot will not fit.”

Pei Qing reached out and patted his shoulder, “Now it won’t be too big to fit.”

       Zhan Weiyang agreed, “Yeah.”

The fortune tree was moved to the best position on the balcony, which was the position Zhan Weiyang had chosen for himself before, where he could get the morning sun and see the fountain in the neighbourhood.

When the wind blew, the bright green leaves of the fortune tree trembled slightly, but they clung tightly to the thriving and round trunk, growing vigorously like another life of Zhan Weiyang.

Surrounding the fortune tree were other potted plants, and there were a few pots of brightly coloured flowers that Zhan Pengcheng had just bought from the flower market today.

No one would be lonely here.

Zhan Weiyang sat on the guardrail at the edge of the balcony facing inward.

Pei Qing stood in front of him, held his hand and said to him, “Yangyang, I will go back to school in two days.”

Zhan Weiyang didn’t say anything, but the smile on his face became a little fainter.

Pei Qing didn’t say anything either; just looked at him.

After a while, Zhan Weiyang said, “You have to go back to school and graduate.”

Pei Qing smiled and nodded, “Yes, Yangyang is very sensible.”

Zhan Weiyang held Pei Qing’s hand tightly and said, “Wait for me, okay?”

“Hmm?” Pei Qing was a little unsure of what he meant.

Zhan Weiyang said a little anxiously, “I will take the college entrance examination next year. Can I come to see you?”

Pei Qing asked him, “Which university do you want to apply to?” There were many schools in the city where he studied and lived.

Zhan Weiyang had no idea at all, and he said uncertainly, “C University?”

Pei Qing smiled when he heard this. Zhan Weiyang would definitely not be able to get into C University with his current grades. However, he still encouraged him, “Okay, then you should aim for C University and work hard to get in, okay?”

Zhan Weiyang said, “Okay! Then you must wait for me!”

Pei Qing smiled and lowered his head. After a while, he gently rested his forehead on Zhan Weiyang’s soft belly.

Zhan Weiyang lowered his eyes to look at him and asked a little worriedly, “What’s wrong?” He raised his hand to hug Pei Qing’s head, touched his hair anxiously, and asked, “Do you have no confidence in me?”

Pei Qing hugged his waist and said, “No, I just want to hug you.”

Zhan Weiyang said, “Well, everything will get better and better.”

Zhan Weiyang didn’t know whether this sentence was said to comfort Pei Qing or to comfort himself.

On the day Pei Qing left, he did not chase the car in his pyjamas in a daze. Instead, he woke up early with an alarm clock, followed Zhan Pengcheng and the others to the door of his house, and watched Pei Qing get in the car.

Zhan Pengcheng drove, and Pei Qing said to Zhan Weiyang through the lowered car window, “Go back and have breakfast.”

Zhan Weiyang still had to go to class today.

Zhan Weiyang was actually still sad. He waved at Pei Qing, trying not to look so sad.

Life was about growing through experiences, one after another, just like the time he couldn’t catch up to that car or the night he took Zhan Pengcheng to the hospital all by himself. After going through it, he realised it hadn’t been as frightening as he had thought. Pei Qing would not leave and never come back. When he needed him, Pei Qing still returned to his side.

From the day Zhan Weiyang made up his mind to take the C University entrance exam, he began to study hard.

Every day in class, Zhan Weiyang stared at the blackboard and listened to the teacher’s lectures without blinking. However, he could only understand about 50% of the content in one class.

After class, he had no time to chat with Chen Youyou. He concentrated on reading to understand what the teacher taught in class. If he really didn’t understand, he would ask Chen Youyou.

Chen Youyou thought he was strange and asked him, “Are, you crazy?”

Zhan Weiyang said, “No, I just don’t have a good brain, I’m not crazy.”

Chen Youyou asked him, “Why, are you so, serious all of, a sudden?”

Zhan Weiyang said, “I want to take the C University entrance exam.”

As soon as he finished this sentence, the girls at the same table couldn’t help but turn their heads to look at him.

Chen Youyou looked puzzled, “Huh? Seriously?”

       Zhan Weiyang said, “Yes, seriously.”

       Chen Youyou didn’t understand, “Why?”

Zhan Weiyang didn’t say anything. He casually drew on the draft book with a pen. After a while, his eyes lit up, and he thought of a good answer: because of love.

Zhan Pengcheng also found that Zhan Weiyang had been studying very hard recently.

He went into Zhan Weiyang’s room at almost ten o’clock in the evening and saw that he was still sitting at the desk studying hard, so he sat down by the bed and said, “Yangyang, Grandma will be back in two days.”

Zhan Weiyang took the time to say ‘En’ to indicate that he heard it.

Zhan Pengcheng sat for a while. Seeing that Zhan Weiyang ignored him, he couldn’t help but say, “Do you want to chat with Dad for a while?”

Zhan Weiyang finally looked at him and said, “Dad, don’t disturb me while I study.”

Zhan Pengcheng asked him, “Then until what time do you want to study?”

Zhan Weiyang looked at the time and replied, “Twelve o’clock.”

Zhan Pengcheng immediately said, “It’s too late. You are still growing, you can only grow taller when you fall asleep, don’t study so late.”

Zhan Weiyang said, “But I can’t understand the class or the book. How can I get into C University?”

“Ah?” Zhan Pengcheng stood up from the bed, “You want to go to the C University? Why do you want to go to the C University?”

       Zhan Weiyang didn’t answer him.

Zhan Pengcheng thought for a moment and said, “Because Pei Qing is in C University?”

Zhan Weiyang then said ‘En’ softly.

Zhan Pengcheng felt that his son was too dependent on Pei Qing and walked back and forth a few steps by the bed with some anxiety. Then he walked behind Zhan Weiyang and said, “It’s useless for you to apply to C University. Pei Qing will graduate this year, and he won’t be there when you go to study next year.”

Zhan Weiyang looked at Zhan Pengcheng and began to look uneasy.

Zhan Pengcheng put his hands on his shoulders, “Don’t go to C University. If you really want to go to college, go to a local university. You don’t have to live on campus and can go home to sleep every day.”

Zhan Weiyang was very entangled. He said, “What about Qing ge?”

“What do you mean what about Qing ge? Pei Qing is someone else’s child. Do you still want to follow him?”

Zhan Weiyang suddenly became anxious, “I want to follow him all the time.”

Zhan Pengcheng asked him, “What if Pei Qing gets married? Can you still follow him?”

Zhan Weiyang stood up from the chair and said very unhappily, “Qing ge will not get married.”

Zhan Pengcheng said this just to tease him, but when he saw that he was really unhappy, he suddenly felt a little complicated.

Zhan Weiyang then said, “Dad, you are a bit noisy.”

Zhan Pengcheng’s heart skipped a beat. It was the first time he was disliked by his youngest son.

Zhan Weiyang said again, “You’re disturbing my study.”

Zhan Pengcheng held back his sadness and asked him, “Do you want Dad to go out?”

Zhan Weiyang lowered his head and scratched the back of the chair with his fingers without saying anything.

Zhan Pengcheng left Zhan Weiyang’s room, reached out and gently closed the door for him, sighed deeply, and walked towards his room.

Chapter 32

Chu Yunhan stood frozen. The wind slipping between the two of them carried a biting chill, dispersing the warmth from his body.

He watched the man approach little by little and finally stopped in front of him before reaching out a hand toward his coat collar. Chu Yunhan wanted to step back, but out of the corner of his eye, he glimpsed the neatly lined-up crowd not far away. His retreat halted abruptly, and he allowed the man to straighten his crooked collar.

Now, Chu Yichen, who appeared in the cemetery, is the head of the family and his cousin. The intimacy of his gestures carried a performative quality.

He wanted his subordinates, partners, friends, enemies, and others who came here for various reasons to see clearly—that there was harmony between the Chu brothers, no discord whatsoever, and that the previous rumours of brothers turning against each other were just nonsense.

It had been a long time since they last met in a public setting like this, each standing in their respective positions. Chu Yunhan kept his gaze low, barely daring to look at the other. In a soft voice, he asked, “When did you arrive?”

“Since the moment ‘I really hate myself,’” the man replied, his voice light.

He only felt a little suffocated in his chest and stood silently with his hands down.

Chu Yichen put down the flowers and stood before the stone tablet for a long time. In the end, he only said one sentence, “I will take good care of him; please rest assured.”

Chu Yunhan’s heart felt like it had been struck hard, beating wildly out of rhythm. His face flushed red, and his clenched fingers dug painfully into his palm.

“Let’s go,” the man said as he passed by.

He glanced at the tombstone again, pursed his lips, and followed the other person’s steps outside.

Chu Yichen walked in front, his slim body wrapped in a slightly loose coat, making him look tall and imposing. The oncoming wind blew the man’s scent over, and the light and familiar scent of aftershave brushed past the tip of his nose, reminding him of those ridiculous and indulgent nights, of the way the man panted against his body, of the relationship between the two of them. That sticky entanglement between them.

A restless heat rose from deep within his spine, causing his blood to gradually boil. Lost in thought, he didn’t notice Chu Yichen stopping in front of him and ended up bumping into the man’s back. Looking at those oppressive black eyes, as if his thoughts were being seen through, his face became even hotter, and he whispered, “…I’m sorry.”

“Where are you going?” Chu Yichen asked.

“The company, there’s this project… and we have an appointment for negotiation.”

Just as the other party was about to speak, he heard a ‘bang’ sound in the air, and then a bodyguard in front of him fell heavily at his feet.

       Everything happened unexpectedly.

Chu Yunhan was hugged hard and rolled over, hitting his head on the ground before he realised that it was a gunshot. Chu Yichen pressed him tightly, and his voice was hoarse, “Don’t move.” Screams erupted, and everyone seemed to move in an instant. The bodyguards gathered around and blocked the two people. He heard the sound of flesh being penetrated, he saw people falling continuously, and he felt Bai Yang protecting him in front of him, pushing him back.

In the chaos, a car slammed through the cemetery fence and rushed in. Bai Xiao shouted, “Young Master, get in!” Chu Yichen grabbed Chu Yunhan and shoved him into the backseat, slamming the door. He then said, “Take him away!”

“Young Master!” Bai Xiao looked sad, and his voice was trembling.

“Take him away. Protect him.” The man said solemnly, “This is an order.” He drew the pistol at his waist, looked deeply at the dumbfounded Chu Yunhan, and said nothing. He turned around and followed the steps of the bodyguards as they quickly retreated towards the building in the distance.

Bai Xiao’s eyes were blood red. He gritted his teeth and stepped on the accelerator hard, and the car sped away.

The intensive gunfire drowned out Chu Yunhan’s trembling, “Wait a minute…” and the bullets hit the car door and windows, making a ‘bang’ sound. The bulletproof glass around him was cracked into spider web-like patterns. He suppressed his fear and trembled all over. “Wait…Bai Xiao…wait…” His mind was blank as if he had been thrown naked into an ice cellar; his teeth were trembling, and he was shaking with every word.

“Wait for what? What are you still waiting for? He stayed there to draw the fire away, to make sure you live!” The man driving the car had a gunshot wound on his left arm, and blood was oozing out. There was a kind of sad despair in his voice, and he roared fiercely, “He’s done everything he could for you—everything! Even what he couldn’t do, he did! Do you fvcking know that?!”

Gripping the door handle tightly, Chu Yunhan felt a dull ache and suffocating pressure in his chest as though someone was squeezing his heart. Even breathing became difficult. The last look Chu Yichen gave him lingered in his mind.

The black eyes, with the deep light, seemed to have a lot of reluctance but also an unshakable determination.

       —-He wants you to live.

Chu Yunhan grabbed Bai Xiao’s shoulders with trembling hands and said, “Go back…” Seeing that the other party didn’t respond and still drove straight forward, he finally shouted angrily, “Go back! I want to go back!” “

A sneer appeared on the pale man’s lips, “What’s the use of going back?”

The words hit him like a blunt weapon to the head, leaving him dazed and unable to respond. He slumped back into the seat, lost and despondent.

       Yeah, what’s the use?

What on earth am I…useful for?

Chu Yunhan covered his face with his hands, pressing hard enough for his knuckles to turn white, leaving deep marks on his skin. Warm moisture soaked his palms and cheeks. He couldn’t tell whether it was sweat, tears, or perhaps dirt or blood from somewhere.

The feeling of powerlessness he felt when his father left swept over him again. This time, it was stronger and more overwhelming. He trembled and huddled in the back seat like a cornered animal, letting out a silent cry of despair.

       Don’t die…

       You can’t die…

       Chu Yichen…please…

He prayed over and over in his mind. Having always believed in nothing, he suddenly hoped that there really was a god in the world who could hear his prayer and bless that person.

Chu Yichen had stayed behind in the cemetery, drawing most of the enemy fire. After their car was pursued for a while, the gunfire ceased. But even as they entered the city, Bai Xiao’s expression remained grim. He kept glancing at the rearview mirror, frowning, and pressed the accelerator hard. The car, already going at 130 kilometers per hour, skidded almost sideways as it rounded a sharp corner and changed direction.

Chu Yunhan was nearly thrown off his grip on the handle, asking in alarm, “Is someone following us?”

“Yeah.” Bai Xiao pulled a gun from beneath his seat and tossed it to him while driving. He then said, “If I die later, just run. If you can’t escape, well, then you’re out of luck.”

Chu Yunhan’s heart pounded as he loaded the gun. He took a deep breath, and quickly recalled the shooting techniques he had been trained in—steady your breathing, align the three points, squeeze the trigger…

At that moment, Bai Xiao suddenly slammed on the brakes. The car screeched to a halt, leaving deep tyre marks on the ground. They were trapped in a narrow alley, blocked by cars at both ends. Seeing the formation, Bai Xiao’s face darkened, and he curled his lips into a sinister smile. Gripping his gun, he sneered with a chilling malevolence, “Young Master Yun, it looks like today’s the day we die here.” Every word dripped with murderous intent.

Chu Yunhan forced himself to stay calm, controlled his hands so as not to shake, gritted his teeth, opened the car door, and stood out.

Bai Xiao was shocked, “What are you doing?!”

He stood beside the car and shouted to the people at the other end of the alley, “I am Chu Yunhan. If you’re making such a big show of trying to kill me, isn’t the least you could do is show me who you are before I die?”

The other party was silent for a while. Then someone came up and whispered, “Long time no see.”

Chu Yunhan’s eyes widened. In disbelief, he looked at the other party and said, “Sheng the fifth…”

The man looked at him and said, “This isn’t a situation I wanted to see either. Yunhan, forgive me; I had no choice.”

“…Why? Isn’t there cooperation between the two families? Why on earth are you doing this?!” His back was tense, he clenched his fists, and his eyes looked like they were about to burst into flames.

“Your cousin’s methods are too clever—he has been eroding our influence bit by bit, gradually replacing us, and step by step undermining Old Man Shen’s trust. He orchestrated schemes to lure us into expanding our cooperation, only to cut off our resources after thoroughly assessing our strengths. And now, he has supported Shen Mo in sidelining Old Man Shen, leaving us completely without support. Forced into such a situation, don’t we deserve to seek justice?”

Chu Yunhan looked at the other party in shock, unable to say anything.

“If I wanted to kill you, you wouldn’t have made it this far.” There was a soft light in Sheng Ming’s eyes, “You betrayed Chu Yichen once. Life in the Chu family can’t have been easy for you. I regretted not taking you away last time, and that regret has stayed with me ever since. Today, I’m here to take you with me.”

       “…What?”

“Sheng Guang brought two hundred people to the cemetery, and the third brother Sheng Wei brought two thousand more in from outside the city. The outcome is clear—Chu Yichen won’t make it out today. Once he’s dead, the Chu family will fall. Rather than being dragged down with them, why not leave with me? Let’s go to J City and live our own carefree lives. I’ll stay by your side for the rest of your life.”

Chu Yunhan stood frozen, his bangs casting a shadow over his eyes. His shoulders trembled slightly as he asked, “And if I refuse?”

Sheng Ming frowned, “I don’t want to use force on you.”

Chu Yunhan raised his face and smiled at the man standing ten meters away.

It was a smile filled with charm—three parts gentle, three parts cool and aloof, three parts wild and unrestrained, and one part so captivating it left others unable to look away. Within it were hints of provocation and disdain, along with an air of cold arrogance. The subtle smile played lightly at the corners of his eyes and brows, making his already handsome face radiate a unique allure—deadly and dangerously irresistible.

Sheng the fifth stared at him blankly, motionless.

It was so beautiful. Like an elusive white deer in the forest, always out of reach. That smile ignited an uncontrollable desire in man to conquer and possess.

However, the next second, the proud animal walked towards the cliff’s edge.

Chu Yunhan put the cold gun muzzle against his temple and said, “I’ll give you two choices: let me go or kill me.”
