Chapter 35 – At His Side

The word made Zhuo Yue’s entire body tense up. He looked at himself in the mirror, flushed with shame and guilt, his eyes all misty.

With a ‘smack’, he received a slap on his buttocks. The force wasn’t light, and it turned red instantly.

“Answer my question.” The man behind him said in a deep voice.

Zhuo Yue closed his eyes and finally nodded with difficulty, “…I forgot.” Such an admission made him feel embarrassed and unbearable, and he began to tremble slightly.

Immediately after, he received another blow on the other side of his buttocks.

“Watch the mirror, don’t make me repeat this a third time, or there will be more than just a spanking.” Fang Mingyan grabbed both of his arms in the bathroom and confined her in there. “How do I fvck you in your imagination? Would it be like this, pinning you down on the sink from behind and letting you come into you with your arse up like a bitch in heat? Or did I make you lie on your back, open your thighs with your own hands, and beg me to insert you?”

Zhuo Yue had never experienced such blatant verbal sex before, but now he was lost in an imaginative hallucination as if everything was happening. Every part of his body seemed to feel like a man’s invasion, and the way he sought and endured himself in the mirror only stimulated him more. The intense passion continued to accumulate with only one outlet, almost breaking through the defence line.

However, Fang Mingyan continued, “Using my fingers to slowly open up the hole in your ass until it could hold my d1ck. When I thrust it, it will make you scream uncontrollably. I will keep pushing in and out repeatedly, pushing it to the deepest point, allowing you to hold it tightly with the lewd little mouth below, familiarising you with its shape and feeling its size. The next time I hit your prostate, your body will reach a climax of pleasure. However, I won’t allow you to ejaculate, and you will cry and ask me to let you ejaculate.” The man put his lips to his ears and said, “Slave, did you imagine it? Did you imagine what it would be like for me to shoot my sperm inside you, to make you completely mine, and then to allow you to cum with me?”

“Master! Ahhh—Master…” Zhuo Yue couldn’t stand the stimulation any longer and screamed out, tilting his neck to gasp uncontrollably; his body began to tremble, “I want… I want you…”

“I allow you to see it reflected in the mirror, Slave.”

The moment he heard the order, the world seemed to be empty, only the illusion of a man entering his body, everything was as real as if it was happening. Zhuo Yue cried out briefly, ejaculated with a violent shudder, and then collapsed into his embrace.

Fang Mingyan held him close, waiting for him to gradually come to his senses from the short period of disorientation, and asked, “Zhuo Yue, how are you?”

Surprisingly, he climaxed without the other person doing anything… When he thought of this, Zhuo Yue wished he could just faint and lose the courage to look up at the other person, nodding silently.

“In our interactions, I might use some language that makes you feel embarrassed, like just now. These words are meant to increase the excitement and arouse your desire; they are not intended to insult your character. If you find it hard to accept, you can tell me,” the man said seriously.

“…I can accept it.” Zhuo Yue said in a small voice, his face red.

“Okay, I’ve finished my bedtime exercises. Let’s take a bath.”

Zhuo Yue swept a glance at the man’s slightly bulging lower body. He pursed his lips and opened his mouth repeatedly in embarrassment, “Master… You can actually…”

Fang Mingyan clearly understood what he meant and laughed, “You still have work tomorrow, and I don’t want to end your first night so hastily that we won’t have all the fun together.” After saying this, he poured some shampoo on his hand and rubbed it on Zhuo Yue’s head; his ink-coloured eyes had a light and warm, soft light, “Zhuo Yue, I’ll be with you for a long time to come”.

Zhuo Yue was truly exhausted. He was so drowsy while taking a bath that he struggled to keep his eyes open. By the time the man carried him to bed, he had fallen completely asleep. Usually, he slept restlessly in unfamiliar places, but as long as he was in Fang Mingyan’s arms, he felt utterly relaxed, snuggling obediently against the other’s chest and drifting into a deep, peaceful sleep.

When he woke up the next day,  the person next to him was already up. He hurriedly got up and went to help Fang Mingyan with the buttons on his shirt and asked, “Master, do you want me to prepare breakfast for you?”

“No.” Fang Mingyan glanced over and said, “It’s still early, so leaving your room now won’t attract much attention. Today, I have a meeting with a friend to discuss some business matters and to tour his resort. I should be back by nine in the evening.”

Zhuo Yue froze when he told him where he was going, then smiled, “I will wait for you.” He fastened the cufflinks for the man and suddenly remembered something and said, “Master, there is something I forgot to tell you. I accidentally touched Sun Xinxin’s lips…yesterday.”

“Accidentally?” Fang Mingyan raised his eyebrows.

“While playing the game, we both jumped out and bit into an apple. I didn’t have control then, so it touched.”

“Where do you think you went wrong?”

“Having intimate contact with someone without your permission, and…not telling you in time.” Zhuo Yue said anxiously.

“The punishment is lenient because you voluntarily admitted your mistake. Spread that blanket on the floor and kneel for an hour, counting from the time I leave the house. If someone interrupts, I’ll allow you to leave for a while and text me when you’ve finished kneeling.” The man gave the order.

“Yes, Master.” Zhuo Yue put the carpet on the ground and then knelt down to look at Fang Mingyan from a distant room.

Since the man’s appearance, Zhuo Yue had been in a noticeably lighter and happier mood and had been in high spirits for several days of filming. His phobia had not recurred, and the whip marks on his body were slowly healing, filling him with vitality. Watching him radiate exuberance against the backdrop of the azure sky and sea, Fang Mingyan, standing at a distance, couldn’t help but curl his lips into a smile.

This rough stone, nearly discarded, had finally revealed its unique beauty under his careful sculpting. It was now radiant and captivating, easily drawing people’s attention. One day, he would garner more and more admiration and praise, ascend to higher and more prominent positions, and receive countless flowers and applause. And he would always be there, behind him, accompanying him on a longer, further journey. Because this beautiful gem belonged to him, from heart to body, entirely and completely his.

Exchanging one heart for another might be the best deal he had ever made in his life.

That evening, when Zhuo Yue returned to the hotel room, the seawater on his body was about to splash around, and he saw a man sitting on the sofa. He immediately took off his bathing suit, knelt down, and called out, “Master.”

“Are you done with the filming?”

“En, Lin Hui has got the flight ticket for 8 pm tomorrow.”

“I’m taking the 11 pm flight back tonight.” One after the other, they were just a few hours apart.

“Master, can I take you to the airport later?”

“No need. There are too many people outside. We don’t need to take risks with something like this.” Fang Mingyan sighed for a moment, saying, “Tomorrow, after you land, go straight back to the apartment to rest. Before dinner, I’ll send someone to pick you up.”

At this moment, the doorbell suddenly rang.

The man glanced at the door and turned to the kneeling person. Zhuo Yue shook his head and looked at the door with a suspicious expression on his face. He didn’t know who would visit at such a time.

Fang Mingyan stood up in a white bathing suit and gave Zhuo Yue a prompt to open the door. He then went into the bathroom himself.

Zhuo Yue opened the door to find a tall man in casual attire standing there. Upon seeing him, the man immediately smiled, took off his hat and oversized sunglasses, and said, “A surprise, huh?”

“Chenyang!” Zhuo Yue said suspiciously, “Why did you come?”

“I’m here on holiday, and I heard you were staying at this hotel, so I stopped by to take a look.” Lu Chenyang smiled and said, “Won’t you invite me to come in and sit down?”

Zhuo Yue hesitated for a moment, turned sideways to let the person in, and blocked the bathroom door. He seemed to be chatting casually, “The room is a bit messy, don’t mind.”

“I hear you’re leaving in the morning?” Lu Chenyang sat down on the single sofa where Fang Mingyan had just sat.

“En.” Zhuo Yue, sitting by the bed, asked, “Why are you on vacation here? You’ll be recognised as soon as you walk out.”

“It’s not really a vacation, I came here to look for someone.”

“Looking for someone?” Zhuo Yue was a bit puzzled and asked, “Are you really with Xiao Lin?”

Xiao Lin was a female guest here for a shoot. Recently, she had been rumoured to be in a relationship with Lu Chenyang due to their work together on a film.

Lu Chenyang smiled and said, “Do you think she and I make a good match?”

       “Seems pretty good.”

“I’m not looking for a woman.” Lu Chen Yang stared at him, “I like this man very much. I’ve liked him since the first time I saw him. He is great—kind, brave, pure, and clean. I want to get close to him, but I can never seem to reach him.” He smiled helplessly, “To be honest, this makes me a little frustrated. I want to tell him how I feel, but I’m afraid of scaring him. I don’t have the ability to protect him, and I’m afraid that he will leave me completely, so I haven’t had the courage to speak. I was still worried until now. Zhuo Yue, can you feel my nervousness?”

Zhuo Yue looked at him in confusion. When he finally understood the meaning behind those words, he froze and asked in disbelief, “You… the person you’re talking about is me?”

       “Yes.”

This sudden confession left Zhuo Yue feeling a bit confused. Lu Chenyang had always taken good care of him and was the person he was closest to in the industry. However, he had no idea that Lu Chenyang harboured such feelings. From the very first meeting, these emotions had been present, yet until this moment, Zhuo Yue hadn’t noticed a thing.

“I’m scaring you again.” Lu Chenyang said to him, “You don’t need to give me a response so quickly. I can wait.”

Zhuo Yue sighed for a moment and said lightly, “I’m sorry Chenyang, I can’t accept you.”

There was a look of disappointment on the man’s face, “You think I’m not as good as Fang Mingyan, right?”

“No…” Zhuo Yue explained, “I don’t have that kind of feeling towards you.”

“What about him?” The moment he asked, Lu Chenyang regretted it. He saw the hesitant, troubled look on Zhuo Yue’s face. With a sigh, he lowered his head and murmured, “I guess I still can’t win against him.”

“I am sorry.” Zhuo Yue saw him like this, and his heart could not bear it.

The man remained silent for a while, then lifted his face and smiled faintly. He hid all his disappointment and sadness in his eyes, “There’s nothing to apologise for. After all, I’m a man, and I still have basic decency. Since you’ve already made your decision, I won’t pester you anymore. I just hope that you can still consider me a friend in the future and not avoid me. If you have any concerns or face any difficulties, you can always tell me.”

“Of course, you have always been my friend.” Zhuo Yue said seriously.

“I have to go now.” Lu Chenyang stood up and said, “May I have a hug?”

Zhuo Yue looked into those eyes that suppressed all emotions and nodded.

Lu Chenyang opened his arms to embrace him, lowered his eyes to hide his reluctance and sadness, and said softly, “Goodbye, Flower Prince.” After saying that, he let go of him and left.

Zhuo Yue felt a little sad and took a deep breath. He looked up and saw Fang Mingyan leaning against the bathroom door. He immediately blushed and called out timidly, “Master.”

“First you accidentally kissed someone, and now you hug someone behind my back. Slave, you are really becoming more and more courageous.”

       “I was wrong…”

       “Come here.”

Zhuo Yue walked over cautiously, and then his chin was pinched. A hot kiss was pressed down without warning, taking away his breath. The bathrobe on his body was instantly torn to the ground, and Zhuo Yue’s naked body was imprisoned between the man and the wall. Fang Mingyan waited until the person under him was breathless before letting go. With a dark light flowing in his eyes, he said in a deep voice, “Slave, you are only allowed to have my scent on your body. Do you understand?”

Before Zhuo Yue had time to respond, the pain and numbness of being licked and bitten on his chest had already made him groan. Fang Mingyan was like a male lion, holding him under his paws and teasing him until he lay weakly in his arms. Then he reluctantly let him go, took him in and took a shower again. He was never allowed to be released during this process, which was obviously punishment for his unauthorised consent to intimate contact with others.

A Dom’s desire to possess was very strong, and Zhuo Yue knew what he had done just now made him unhappy. Now she lay obediently in his arms like a cat and asked softly, “Master, do you want to wait until I fall asleep before leaving?”

“En, close your eyes.” The man sat on the bed and touched his head.

Chapter 120 – Taking Over

Chapter 120 – Taking Over

The atmosphere was tense, on the verge of eruption.

The leader looked at Lu Shifeng, and when his gaze met Lu Shifeng’s Dragon horn, his pupils contracted. Others also noticed it, exchanging wary glances, clearly very cautious.

The leader asked in a suppressed voice, “Are you… from Dark Star?”

Jian Luo couldn’t understand the implication. Did these people have old grudges with Dark Star?

Right, these were Silver Grey’s rings, definitely not located within the jurisdiction of any forces on Dark Star. This was unbelievable. Did they accidentally teleport directly into enemy territory?

Lu Shifeng was much calmer. He took out a bright crystal-like object from somewhere and handed it to the leader, saying, “We’ll only stay for a few days, and we promise not to attract any enemies.”

That object must be very valuable. The leader’s face was originally grim, but after seeing it, his attitude suddenly became as warm as a spring breeze. He said, “In that case, come with us.”

Jian Luo asked in confusion, “Where are we going?”

“Here, it’s the Wild Beast Forest Hut. Wild beasts often appear here.” The leader lowered his voice. “Only by going to our tribe will you be safe.”

Jian Luo’s eyes widened.

He really didn’t expect this little thatched cottage to be so dangerous. So, it seemed that he was really lucky yesterday!

Lu Shifeng turned to Jian Luo and said, “Hold the eggs.”

Jian Luo snapped out of it and nodded. “Oh, okay.”

The dragon cub in his arms tilted his head eagerly, wanting to see the excitement. The little cub was lively and curious about everything. However, his mother directly stuffed him into her pocket and then used her hands to pick up two other eggs.

Holding a red egg in each hand, Jian Luo walked to Lu Shifeng’s side and said, “Done.”

The leader glanced at them briefly, but before he could ponder further, his view was obstructed by someone. Lu Shifeng seamlessly positioned himself in front of Jian Luo, his cold eyes fixed on the leader, conveying a clear warning. It seemed as though any further scrutiny might result in immediate repercussions.

The leader had heard about the possessiveness of the dragon clan before, but he hadn’t realized it was this intense. He decisively averted his gaze and led the way ahead, with them following at a distance.

Jian Luo whispered to Lu Shifeng, “Why did they accept us?”

Lu Shifeng remained silent.

Jian Luo glanced at him and realized that the younger Lu Shifeng was indeed taciturn, sparing with words as if each one were a burden, exuding an icy demeanor.

Unexplainably, Jian Luo suddenly remembered their time among the elves, how good it was then. Lu Shifeng had never treated him with such an attitude back then. Though equally reticent, the former Lu Shifeng would engage in conversations and tenderly care for him.

There’s just no comparison with this guy.

Feeling suddenly aggrieved, Jian Luo pursed his lips and decided not to speak. Men like him weren’t worth it.

His silence felt abrupt.

Lu Shifeng walked a distance ahead but glanced sideways at him, his eyes calm and focused, radiating a profound affection.

Jian Luo asked irritably, “What?”

Lu Shifeng looked down at him condescendingly and said, “He’s hungry.”

Jian Luo was taken aback, lowering his head to look at the black cub in his pocket. The little one had somehow popped his head out, his small horns pressing against the pocket flap. His tiny claws grasped the fabric while his curious red eyes peeked out, occasionally emitting soft, inquisitive coos.

Unable to hold the eggs while comforting him, Jian Luo murmured, “Ba Tian, be good. Daddy will find you something to eat in a while.”

The black cub didn’t understand his mother’s words. The little dragon’s belly was empty, having only consumed a bit of eggshell right after birth. After a night, he was hungry. Seeing Jian Luo walking, the dragon cub thought they were going hunting. Hearing Jian Luo’s voice, he became even more excited, attempting to crawl out of the pocket to join the hunt.

Jian Luo widened his eyes, “Hey… don’t come out!”

However, despite being small, the black cub’s legs were agile. He clung to the fabric of Jian Luo’s clothes and began to climb out of the pocket. Due to Jian Luo’s movements, the dragon cub swayed dangerously.

In the nick of time—

Lu Shifeng skillfully grabbed the back of his neck and lifted him up, looking at the little dragon and saying sternly, “Don’t misbehave.”

The black cub was stunned, gazing at Lu Shifeng, who in turn stared back. Neither yielded to the other. Though the person in front seemed familiar, he was fierce. Surely, he must be an enemy.

Resistance against external threats was innate to dragons; they didn’t need to be taught. As a cub with principles and aspirations, the black cub was about to mimic biting, but before he could, Lu Shifeng firmly held him back. Having been tricked once before, how could Lu Shifeng allow him to succeed? His expression was stern, “This is the last warning. Don’t misbehave.”

In Lu Shifeng’s hands, the little dragon cub seemed like a cute toy.

Jian Luo, feeling sorry for him, said, “Put him down. He’s still too small. Maybe he’s just hungry. Don’t shake him.”

Although he knew children shouldn’t be spoiled, he couldn’t help but feel protective. The little cub was indeed very small, and Lu Shifeng was handling him roughly…

Unaware of Lu Shifeng’s implied message, Jian Luo glanced at him and said, “Don’t scare him. He might resent you in the future.”

Lu Shifeng raised an eyebrow, unrepentant. He replied confidently, “So what?”

“…”

Truly you.

Jian Luo couldn’t be bothered to deal with him anymore. Just as he was about to look away, he saw Lu Shifeng lifting the dragon cub and placing him on his shoulder.

The little black cub, who had just been assertive, also understood the situation when placed on the shoulder. To prevent himself from being thrown off, he tightly grasped the military emblem on Lu Shifeng’s shoulder. The palm-sized black ball stubbornly nestled on Lu Shifeng’s shoulder, its small tail resting, and its round horns alert, stubbornly.

Jian Luo had been a bit annoyed, but seeing this scene, he inexplicably smiled. He felt relieved. Perhaps he could provide a harbor for the black cub to be spoiled, and at the same time, the cub needed someone to guide him through life’s challenges and teach him about the dangers of the world.

The leader led Jian Luo to their tribe.

The tribe had a distinct style. Their houses were mostly built on large rocks, mostly circular in shape. At first glance, it looked like round glass stones on square blocks of cheese, resembling… decorative items in supermarkets.

The leader pointed to one of the spherical houses, saying, “You can stay there.”

“Thank you,” Jian Luo replied.

The leader then looked at Lu Shifeng, who said, “Bring some meat.”

The leader obviously didn’t want to be ordered around, but the small crystal card made him stay quiet. He nodded, “Okay.”

The small spherical house looked small from the outside, but when Jian Luo climbed the stairs, he found it quite spacious inside, with all the necessities and cleanliness. There was even a kang bed and a bathroom. Outside, there was a small pot, probably for cooking.

Jian Luo looked around and said, “Not bad.”

Meanwhile, Lu Shifeng had already put down the black cub. The little dragon stumbled and tumbled a few times, finally managing to stop himself, sitting dizzily on the kang bed, his big red gem-like eyes wet with confusion, his small head filled with questions.

Seeing his own cub so cute, Jian Luo first placed the remaining two eggs properly before going to pick up Ba Tian. He then asked Lu Shifeng, “Why haven’t the other two come out yet? Is something wrong?”

Sitting on a nearby chair, Lu Shifeng’s face was frighteningly pale, his eyes half-closed as if resting. Though his young body didn’t appear frail, wearing oversized military uniform made him look like a child playing dress-up. His usually stern and mature face now carried a slight youthfulness. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at the two eggs, “Weakness due to insufficient qi and blood.”

Jian Luo panicked, “What does that mean?”

Lu Shifeng calmly said, “Taken out of the incubator prematurely, they lack the nutrients and strength to hatch.”

“…”

Indeed, all three were premature.

Jian Luo hugged the black cub, stroking his head, and said worriedly, “But why did the eldest one come out fine?”

Lu Shifeng seemed to be caught off guard by the question. Replicas of the dragon race were usually hatched simultaneously from the same batch. Such a situation rarely occurred. With a slightly furrowed brow, he spoke, “How long did this batch of dragon eggs take to hatch?”

Rolling his eyes, Jian Luo replied, “Like I said, these are my children. I carried them for fifteen months and gave birth myself. There was no incubation.”

As the words fell, Lu Shifeng’s gaze towards him finally changed slightly, showing some astonishment. He was about to speak when a knock sounded at the door. It was the food delivery.

The person delivering the meal was a middle-aged woman. She placed the meat from the big bowl outside and looked inside with great curiosity. However, Jian Luo came down quickly, blocking her view. In the end, she could only give up. Jian Luo picked up the meat and started cutting it with the knife placed on the side of the bowl. He first cut a big piece for Lu Shifeng, then took a few bites himself before starting to cook for the little one.

Lu Shifeng, seeing his actions, said, “Cut it into small pieces for him to eat.”

Little Dragon was only born a day ago. Although the meat wasn’t tough, it was still too hard for him to digest and swallow. Jian Luo lit the small pot and boiled the meat. The high heat quickly boiled the water, and then he put the meat in.

The little one smelled the aroma of the meat and his hungry stomach growled. Inside his throat, there was the sound of a baby crying for milk. Lu Shifeng, sitting nearby, tore off a piece of meat for him. Although it wasn’t large, it was obviously too big for the little one’s teeth to handle. The little dragon took a few bites, but the meat was too tough for him to chew.

Realizing this, Dragon Ba Tian became anxious and started crying.

Jian Luo gave Lu Shifeng a glance. “Don’t tease him.”

As the meat soup boiled, Jian Luo tried to make it a bit thicker. Although the meal was simple and the appearance of the meat soup wasn’t great, the fragrance was still there, especially for the hungry little dragon; it was simply delicious.

He staggered towards the door, but his small wings couldn’t support him. When he was close to the kang, Lu Shifeng reached out and poked him with his finger, causing the little black one to roll roundly twice.

Jian Luo let the soup cool a bit and brought it inside. Seeing his son looking so pitiful on the kang, he softened. He made the little one sit properly on the kang and then carefully spoon-fed him some meat paste.

The little one, finally able to eat, cheered happily. His soft cries sounded like a kitten, obediently eating the paste. However, because he couldn’t control his strength and his head was too small, some of the paste even got stuck in the corner of his mouth.

Jian Luo couldn’t help but laugh and cry as he wiped the corners of his mouth. “Slow down, no one is competing with you.”

The little one thought it was his mother trying to kiss him. Although he wasn’t full yet, he still lifted his head from the spoon and gently rubbed against Jian Luo’s palm with his horn, even purring happily.

There was tenderness in Jian Luo’s eyes. “Eat quickly.”

So the little one continued to eat the paste. Lu Shifeng had already finished his meal but didn’t disturb Jian Luo. Instead, he went to the bathroom inside to clean up. When he came back, he had changed into clean clothes and was sitting next to him, drying his hair.

Lu Shifeng watched Jian Luo gently washing the little one’s face, and the little dragon, being mischievous, amused him to no end. The intimacy between Jian Luo and the little dragon was touching.

For some reason, Lu Shifeng began to believe Jian Luo’s words a bit. Dragonlings didn’t have the same attachment to their mothers as birdlings did; it was like no one would be close to their incubator.

When the Dragon Clan still had reproductive abilities, dragonlings were indeed very attached to their mothers. Some things couldn’t be faked. This little black one looked foolish in front of Jian Luo, showing the instinctive dependence of a dragon on its birth mother.

Thinking of this, Lu Shifeng said, “Whose child is this?”

Jian Luo paused, looked at Lu Shifeng, very honest, and not intending to hide it. “Yours.”

“…”

There was a moment of silence in the room.

Lu Shifeng’s face remained impassive, but there was obviously a crack. His Adam’s apple moved up and down, his voice somewhat hoarse, suppressing the inexplicable excitement in his blood. He said, “That’s impossible.”

Jian Luo was almost angry to death. He had suffered so much for whom? He thought that once the child was born, everything would be better, but without a single loving word, it was fine, but now to say such things, could anyone bear this injustice?

Jian Luo retorted, “Right, it’s not yours, it’s your brother’s, okay?”

It was just a rant. Normally, anyone wouldn’t believe it, right? Silver gray was a white dragon. How could this black one be so pure black? Only someone colorblind would mistake them, right?

Who knew that the next moment, Jian Luo heard Lu Shifeng say, “Did he abandon you?”

“…”

Jian Luo couldn’t believe it. “What?”

But Lu Shifeng didn’t say anything more. He just looked at the other two eggs and said, “Don’t worry, even if Silver Gray did something wrong, I won’t blame his offspring.”

???

Jian Luo was full of question marks, and even the little black one by his side made a couple of noises in agreement.

Feeling unfinished, Lu Shifeng looked at Jian Luo again and said, “Later, I’ll have them find you another house. We should rest separately. After all…”

“After all what?” Jian Luo was curious.

“You’re his partner.” Lu Shifeng was serious. “You should abide by propriety.”

“…”

Chapter 119 – Don't Touch Him

Chapter 119 – Don’t Touch Him

Once Jian Luo recovered his strength, he felt very tired.

Two eggs on the bed remained quiet as chickens. If not for one hatching, Jian Luo would have worried about whether there were hatchlings inside. But why had Long Aotian come out while his brothers didn’t?

Jian Luo stared at the eggs for a while, finally sighing. He tapped on one of the shells lightly with his fingertips. “If you don’t want to come out, that’s fine. Even if you come out, I have nothing to feed you.”

The egg remained motionless.

For now, Jian Luo decided to leave it be and focused on Long Aotian instead. Though the tiny hatchling was small, it had a good appetite. It quickly finished eating the entire eggshell. Perhaps feeling satisfied, the hatchling’s belly showed a slight curvature, and it happily rolled over in Jian Luo’s palm.

“Hey…”

Jian Luo quickly cupped his hands around it. “Don’t roll off.”

The hatchling clearly didn’t understand Jian Luo’s intention, but it knew its father was speaking to it. Though still clueless, it obediently rubbed its head against Jian Luo’s fingertip. While doing so, it emitted a soft, contented purr, reminiscent of a small kitten seeking comfort. In their early years, dragon scales were soft, and their horns lacked sharp edges. Rather than dragons, they resembled kittens that had yet to grow up.

Jian Luo patted its head. “Go to sleep.”

The hatchling was indeed tired. Under Jian Luo’s gentle voice, it curled up slowly, as if still in its mother’s eggshell. It nestled into a small black ball and fell asleep in Jian Luo’s hand.

Watching it, Jian Luo felt his heart melt. He had always thought dragons were mighty and didn’t need human protection. Even the young dragons in the Sky Garden were much stronger than him.

He had never imagined hatchlings would be so small and fragile.

Perhaps the bond between mother and child was indeed mysterious. Watching the hatchlings, he felt affectionate, wanting to take care of them and ensure their healthy growth.

“Boom!”

The thunder outside rumbled, and rain poured down around the thatched hut.

Jian Luo had expended a lot of energy. Now that the hatchling was asleep, he felt exhausted too. He placed the hatchling next to his pillow and curled up to sleep.

Outside, the rain gradually subsided, and the sky regained its orange hue. Birds flew across the sky, and inside the thatched hut, someone woke up hungry.

When Jian Luo woke up, his stomach growled incessantly. He rubbed his eyes, realizing his current predicament. “So hungry.”

He glanced at the little black ball still sleeping on the pillow beside him. It was understandable; most of the time, hatchlings slept during their infancy to aid in their growth.

However, this was also a time when they needed nutrition. Jian Luo had to figure out a way to get some food.

With that in mind, Jian Luo turned to Lu Shifeng lying not far away. Over the course of the night, most of the wounds on Lu Shifeng’s body had stopped bleeding. The healing ability of dragons was truly remarkable; they didn’t need any medical attention and could recover on their own.

Jian Luo looked at the sky outside, with only one thought in mind: to find a basin of water to freshen up. After giving birth to the little ones, he hadn’t cleaned up himself, and beside him, Lu Shifeng hadn’t either. Jian Luo wasn’t sure how serious Lu Shifeng’s injuries were. Although the healing ability of the Dragon clan was quite strong, it was still better to clean the wounds that could be cleaned.

Jian Luo looked around the thatched cottage and finally found a usable wooden basin in a corner.

“Fortunately, there’s an emergency refuge box in the storage space.”

There was a stream not far from the thatched cottage. Jian Luo first washed his face and feet in the stream and wiped other parts with a towel. He didn’t dare to leave the little ones for too long, so he quickly returned with the wooden basin.

Inside the thatched cottage was very quiet. After placing the wooden basin down, Jian Luo saw that Long Autian was still sleeping and didn’t disturb him. He had originally intended to clean him up too, but since this little one was asleep, he let it be.

Jian Luo’s gaze fell on Lu Shifeng. He sighed, “He’s really resting well during his confinement.”

But he was always someone who made the best out of a bad situation and wouldn’t complain for too long. He still preferred to be productive. Actually, being busy like this was good. At least now, both big and small were by his side. If they were born on Dark Star, Long Autian and the others might have been taken away.

Jian Luo wrung out the towel and then began to wipe Lu Shifeng’s body.

It was quite difficult to undo the Marshal’s military uniform. Initially, Jian Luo tried with one hand, but found that it was impossible to unbutton it with just one hand, so he simply threw the towel aside and used both hands.

He half-bent down, concentrating, when Lu Shifeng, who had been unconscious all along, slowly opened his eyes. Their eyes met, and there was a moment of awkwardness.

Jian Luo first froze, then slowly let go of his hand and chuckled awkwardly, “I was just trying to clean your wounds. Do you believe me?”

Lu Shifeng quietly looked at him. Jian Luo felt that there was something off about his gaze, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Just as he was about to speak and ask Lu Shifeng to look at the children, he heard Lu Shifeng speak in a cold voice, “Move aside.”

Jian Luo was stunned and slowly moved away.

Lu Shifeng half-sat up, first assessing the surroundings, and finally, his gaze fell on the two eggs and a little black ball on the kang.

Jian Luo said, “They…”

Lu Shifeng looked at Jian Luo with a scrutinizing gaze, slightly stern, “Did you steal Dragon eggs?”

“…”

Damn it.

If he could overpower him, Jian Luo would have wanted to slap him. Was this guy following him just to make trouble for himself?

Just as he was fuming, a flash of insight came to him. He suddenly remembered what his adjutant had said before. When a Dragon suffered a serious injury, there would be atavistic changes in the body, including memories and consciousness. This condition wouldn’t last long, generally reverting to normal after the wounds were completely healed.

That must be it!

Once Jian Luo figured it out, he wasn’t as angry anymore. He said, “I didn’t steal them. They’re my children.”

Lu Shifeng’s eyes turned bloodshot as he looked at Jian Luo, clearly not believing him. He even sneered, “Human?”

“…”

What’s wrong with being human!

Jian Luo was so angry he almost fainted. He was furious but also found it amusing. He threw the towel aside and stopped what he was doing, “Yes, I’m human, I’m really sorry.”

Lu Shifeng glanced at him indifferently, stood up, and went to take the Dragon eggs.

Jian Luo widened his eyes, “How dare you!”

Lu Shifeng ignored him completely. He was very fast. In the blink of an eye, he reached the kang. Long Autian, who had been sleeping, woke up. The little Dragon was confused and before he could react, he was grabbed by a pair of large hands around his neck and lifted up. Their eyes met, two pairs of identical red eyes locking in a soulful gaze.

Jian Luo also came over. He was shorter than Lu Shifeng but managed to reach Long Autian. “Put the little one down!”

Lu Shifeng moved his gaze away, gave Jian Luo a cold glance, and was about to speak when suddenly he felt pain in his hand. The little black Dragon was fierce, biting him fiercely with its sharp little teeth. Lu Shifeng let go, and the black Dragon fell down, scaring Jian Luo into quickly catching the baby.

Although the little one was fierce just now, once back in his mother’s arms, his true nature was revealed. He whimpered and snuggled into Jian Luo’s arms, completely dependent.

Jian Luo also held the baby in his arms, looking warily at Lu Shifeng. “Don’t touch him.”

“…”

Lu Shifeng remained silent for a while before finally speaking, “He has my scent on him.”

Jian Luo was stunned. He hadn’t expected this. Actually, he couldn’t distinguish scents very well, but even a juvenile version of Lu Shifeng could recognize scents, right? But then again, they were his offspring. Could he really not recognize this?

While Jian Luo was contemplating, Lu Shifeng was also observing him. Not for any other reason, but because he had noticed something since earlier. The Dragon scent on Jian Luo was too strong.

Initially, with his vigilance, he would have eliminated any unknown creatures around him the moment he woke up. However, at the moment their eyes met, inexplicably, his body seemed to freeze, and even more strangely, he felt a surge of joy and longing.

Then, he sensed his own scent on Jian Luo, the same scent as on these little ones. Everything was so strange.

The teenage version of Lu Shifeng was puzzled.

“Knock, knock, knock.”

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

Jian Luo looked outside, and as the knocking continued, several strangely dressed aliens entered. Luckily, they spoke the interstellar lingua franca, and after studying it for a year, Jian Luo surprisingly understood it fluently.

The leading man said, “Outsiders, why have you intruded into our territory?”

The others looked at them with wary eyes, not very friendly, and the atmosphere suddenly became tense.

Jian Luo quickly said in the alien language, “Sorry, we didn’t mean to intrude, but we had an accident and were forced to land here. Please rest assured, we mean no harm.”

The leader’s expression improved slightly upon hearing this.

Because this group of strangers suddenly entered, the little Dragon in Jian Luo’s arms felt his mother’s tension. The audacious little black Dragon poked his head out, his eyes as bright as rubies, looking at the group of people not far away, cautiously hooking Jian Luo’s clothes with his little claws.

The leader also noticed the little Dragon. He frowned and asked in a displeased tone, “What’s that in your arms?”

As he spoke, he reached out to pull Jian Luo, but before he could touch him, a more powerful figure stood in front of Jian Luo. Lu Shifeng’s demeanor had completely changed from before, fierce, dangerous, and full of threat. He said, “Don’t touch him.”

Chapter 118 – Three Eggs

Chapter 118 – Three Eggs

Jian Luo had once imagined where he would give birth, much like how he once pondered over how to divide the specialties when returning to the Dark Star. But plans were futile as changes always outpaced them. He could only reluctantly accept this damn life.

The feeling of a spatial teleportation became familiar after experiencing it once. The light inside was too bright, making one instinctively want to close their eyes.

But what made it suffocating was that the landing point was random, and one usually fell upon arrival. Jian Luo’s stomach pains were unbearable. To prevent a harsh landing or hitting any rocks, he had to curl up to protect himself.

“Jian Luo…”

Someone grabbed him from behind, accompanied by a smell of blood. Lu Shifeng extended his long arm, pulling Jian Luo into his embrace, shielding him. The light was too bright, and Jian Luo couldn’t see who it was clearly. However, he instinctively snuggled into Lu Shifeng’s arms, like a chick seeking refuge.

Lu Shifeng held him protectively. The time in the teleportation passage wasn’t long but not short either. It was almost after Jian Luo had prepared himself that— “Bang!” they landed.

Fortunately, someone cushioned him, so he wasn’t hurt.

Jian Luo shifted his body and glanced at his legs. There seemed to be traces of blood flowing down.

In an instant…

Although he had never experienced it before, he had a strong premonition. He was going into labor.

Unexpectedly, the dragon hatchlings were premature. Jian Luo sighed deeply. The hatchlings in his belly probably knew it was time to come out, tossing and turning vigorously. Waves of pain made him gasp for breath. Jian Luo didn’t have time to think much. He remembered someone being transported with him and looked back to see the person lying nearby.

With just one glance, his eyes widened.

The person was Lu Shifeng, or rather, not quite. The person before him was a younger version of Lu Shifeng, with dragon horns on his head. The original military uniform was a size too big, and he was visibly injured, currently unconscious.

Jian Luo remembered the queen mentioning that when dragons were severely injured, their bodies would automatically revert to their younger selves as a self-protection mechanism. He had only heard about it before, but now seeing it was quite miraculous.

Jian Luo muttered, “No way…”

Taking his gaze away from Lu Shifeng, he finally had time to look around. This place was definitely not Earth or any other planet he had visited. The sky was orange, and towering trees filled the forest, with dinosaur-sized birds circling overhead, giving it a bizarre appearance. The only consolation was a small thatched hut not far away. This seemed to be on the outskirts of a village.

Jian Luo held his stomach, enduring the pain. “Hold on, little ones, just a bit longer. It’s not time for you to come out yet…”

Jian Luo, enduring the pain, stood up. He moved to Lu Shifeng’s side, gently calling, “Lu Shifeng, Lu Shifeng?”

The man with closed eyes didn’t respond much.

Jian Luo took a deep breath. Fortunately, the thatched hut was less than ten meters away. Even if he had to drag someone, he should be able to get them inside. He couldn’t just leave someone outside in this unfamiliar place; what if something happened?

Since becoming pregnant with dragon hatchlings, Jian Luo could feel his body gradually becoming stronger. Before, he couldn’t even drag someone without falling ill. Now, maybe it was due to the special circumstances or being forced into this situation, but Jian Luo summoned all his strength and pulled the person into the hut.

“Phew…”

The inside of the hut was relatively clean, with no signs of anyone living there. There was nothing on a small earthen bed, covered in dust. However, he had no time or energy to complain about it.

Jian Luo held his waist, moving slowly. Finally, he managed to lie down on the earthen bed. Just completing this step consumed all his energy. While catching his breath, the bracelet given to him by the queen lit up.

The bracelet emitted mechanical sounds. “Detection: Your body has entered the delivery stage. Please adjust your breathing, replenish your strength, and consume nutrients promptly to prepare for childbirth.”

?

Jian Luo looked incredulously at the bracelet. He never imagined that the bracelet would have such a function at a time like this.

Seeing Jian Luo’s lack of response, the mechanical voice repeated itself.

Jian Luo impatiently said, “Alright, I got it.”

Finding nutrients in this place was impossible. He didn’t even have the strength to walk now. Jian Luo sighed. His storage space was still open, containing only a few bags of elf dried fruits and some buns he made before.

Jian Luo hesitated, then took out the buns to eat. He decided to leave the dried fruits for the hatchlings; they were more nutritious. Although his storage space preserved them, it had been a while, so the buns were a bit hard to bite into. But that didn’t matter; when hungry, one could eat anything.

The bracelet said, “Please relax your body, lie on your side…”

Jian Luo looked at the bracelet curiously. “Who programmed you? What’s the process for dragon childbirth?”

He finished the buns hastily, feeling the pain in his abdomen growing stronger. The sensation was like someone doing square dancing in his stomach, switching from “Plum Blossom” to “Little Apple,” getting more lively.

Jian Luo curled up, holding his stomach, sweat dripping from his forehead. He trembled uncontrollably.

The bracelet continued, “Please pay attention to your posture…”

Jian Luo’s head buzzed, and his ears were filled with the idiotic prompt sounds from the bracelet. Waves of pain made his consciousness blur. The pain seemed endless, and sweat soaked his eyes, plunging everything into darkness.

If Jian Luo were to recall the entire process of giving birth, it would be utterly devoid of any technicality. There was no preparation, no effort; just pain and eventually fainting. What followed was entirely natural; the hatchlings would come out if they wanted to.

“Boom!”

The sky darkened, and lightning streaked across it.

The thunder roared, jolting Jian Luo awake from the pain-induced faintness. When he regained consciousness, he felt disoriented at first, blinking in confusion before remembering that he seemed to be in the midst of childbirth.

Instinctively, Jian Luo reached for his belly, only to find it empty. This had become a habitual gesture over the past dozen months. Not feeling his belly there startled him, widening his eyes in disbelief. Suddenly alert, he sat up abruptly, his gaze falling on three eggs rolling near the edge of the small earthen bed.

Three red eggs, adorned with exquisite patterns all over them. Inside the thatched hut, devoid of light, the thunder tore through the sky. Despite the darkness, when a bright light momentarily streaked across the window sill, the patterns still reflected light, revealing the delicate lines upon them.

Jian Luo hurriedly gathered them back from the edge of the bed. “My goodness, I almost smashed them.”

He had no idea how these three eggs came to be, but now that his belly no longer ached, he felt much better.

Glancing at Lu Shifeng lying nearby, Jian Luo remarked, “He’s still not awake…”

The healing ability of the dragon race was remarkable. Before Jian Luo gave birth, Lu Shifeng’s body was still bleeding, but now it had mostly healed. He was just unconscious.

Looking at the three eggs in his arms, Jian Luo wondered, “What should I do? I don’t know how to hatch eggs…”

As Jian Luo pondered whether to build a fire to provide warmth for the eggs to hatch, one of the eggs trembled. It happened so quickly that Jian Luo almost doubted his own eyes.

Carefully, Jian Luo held his breath. “Did… did you move, little one?”

The egg remained still.

He pursed his lips, thinking he might have been mistaken. Gently, he placed each egg back, one by one. As he reached for the last egg, suddenly—”Crack.”

The egg… cracked!

Jian Luo widened his eyes, incredulous. “Did I crush it??”

As he panicked, contemplating whether to try to mend it, a black, tiny dragon horn emerged from the cracked shell. With a small opening, the hatchling seemed to glimpse hope and exerted effort, finally breaking the shell entirely, revealing its entire head.

Jian Luo held the egg motionlessly, dumbfounded.

The little black dragon was indeed very small, with a head barely larger than his thumb. Its horns were curved and not yet fully extended, resembling a round succulent. Slowly, as if adjusting to the light, it opened its eyes—red eyes, clean and pure like two red gemstones, moist and curious about the world.

In an instant, Jian Luo’s heart melted. He suddenly understood the feeling of holding something precious in his palm, his hand trembling slightly as he dared not touch the hatchling.

After a moment, the hatchling, realizing no one was touching or acknowledging it, emitted a soft, plaintive cry, completely different from the majestic roar of adult dragons. Jian Luo remembered the powerful roars of dragons in their prime, echoing with authority and intimidation, enough to immobilize weaker creatures.

But the hatchling’s cry was weak and plaintive, resembling a coquettish kitten, evoking sympathy.

Jian Luo hesitated. “Are you hungry?”

The hungry hatchling whimpered softly. If it were a human baby, it would surely be crying by now, but the hatchling only nudged its head against its mother’s hand, instinctively seeking comfort.

Jian Luo took out a piece of dried fruit and offered it to the hatchling.

However, the fruit was obviously too large, even when torn into smaller pieces. The hatchling showed no interest in the fruit, sniffing at it disdainfully and turning its head away.

Feeling a bit disheartened, Jian Luo mumbled, “I should have kept some buns…”

Of course, the hatchling was oblivious to his father’s troubles, still nuzzling Jian Luo’s hand affectionately. It lacked the imposing aura of its father and the noble elegance of the dragon race, truly embarrassing its lineage.

Frowning, Jian Luo finally had an idea!

He picked up a piece of the shell and held it near the hatchling’s mouth. “Eat this, it’s nutritious.”

Initially just trying his luck, Jian Luo had read in books that eggshells were very nutritious. Some hatchlings would eat their own shells right after birth. However, their dragon, Long Batian, was obviously too clueless to eat, so Jian Luo had to take matters into his own hands.

The red shell was brought to the hatchling’s mouth, and although it hesitated at first and sniffed it with some disdain, Jian Luo insisted. Reluctantly, the hatchling opened its mouth and took a bite. After a few bites, it seemed to find the taste agreeable and, without Jian Luo’s prompting, began to nibble eagerly on the shell.

Jian Luo patted its head. “Eat slowly, save some for the next meal…”

The author has something to say: Long Batian: It’s okay, I can eat my little brother.

Jian Luo: …

T/N: AAAAAA!!! Dragon babiessss!! They’re finally here! (Spoiler, not really spoiler alert: there are going to be many cute dragon baby moments! Hang on to your cute buttons :D)

Chapter 117 – Spatial Ring

Chapter 117 – Spatial Ring

Jian Luo never expected the queen to help him. Of course, what he didn’t expect even more was to receive an opportunity to escape. But the queen’s next words were like a bucket of cold water poured over him from head to toe.

The queen said, “But once you leave, it’s best not to try to contact the outside world for now.”

Jian Luo instinctively asked, “Why?”

“These spatial rings and bracelets track their users.” The queen propped herself up with one hand on the bed, her tone lazy. “So you’d better stay away from electronic devices.”

Jian Luo nodded.

Now it wasn’t about whether he wanted to believe the queen or not; she was the only one he could trust now.

The queen glanced at the monitor in the top left corner before getting up. She smiled. “I should go. I’ll have someone bring you some food to nourish yourself. Having a child is very tiring.”

Jian Luo said, “Thank you.”

The queen tossed Jian Luo’s coat onto the bed before adjusting her hair. Her tone was slightly solemn. “Luo Luo, remember, this child is important not only to others but also to you. Whenever it is, do your best to keep the child safe.”

Jian Luo unconsciously touched his stomach and nodded. “Okay.”

In fact, he understood many of these truths himself. Perhaps in front of these powerful figures, he was just a pawn. They all saw his value and wanted to use him.

In this world, there were no free favors. The countless favors he received and the unique tolerance and love he received from Lu Shifeng were all conditional.

No one ever asked him if he wanted such uniqueness.

Sometimes what Silver-Gray said was not wrong. This world was crazy; everyone was crazy.

The next day.

Jian Luo still went for his regular check-up as usual. Being in his later months, moving around wasn’t easy for him. When he arrived at the examination room, he noticed Silver Grey was there too.

Silver Grey waved at him, holding a medical report. “Come here,” he said.

Jian Luo approached.

Silver Grey pulled him closer, a bit too close for comfort. The rough hand of the pirate leader brushed against Jian Luo’s cheek, making him inhale sharply before Silver Grey pushed him away slightly.

“What are you doing?” Jian Luo asked.

Silver Grey seemed pensive. “Your blood… it really tastes sweet.”

???

Jian Luo stepped back, watching him warily. “I warn you not to mess around.”

Silver Grey looked at him, as if he were a startled little animal. His unexpectedly cute demeanor made one want to tease him a bit more. “Don’t worry, I’m not interested in human blood.”

Jian Luo remained unconvinced.

Silver Grey sat on the edge of the medical bed, one leg resting on the bed while the other dangled freely. With a hint of mischief, he said, “No wonder you could get pregnant. Perhaps you’re the last of your kind in the whole universe.”

Silver Grey rubbed his chin. “I initially thought it was an issue with your species, but it seems the one in your belly might be even more important than you.”

He was truly rare.

The birth of a pure-blood required the sacrifice of thousands of other replicants, and sometimes success wasn’t guaranteed. But Jian Luo was different; he could conceive a pure-blood without needing those sacrifices, without needing any life to be sacrificed.

What’s even more frightening is that Jian Luo’s child might possess the same ability.

Such a person is far more important than a child. Jian Luo himself is irreplaceable.

Jian Luo leaned against the wall, earnestly saying, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Look, Dragon let you go before. You shouldn’t treat his wife and child like this. You… you know that even pirates have their principles, right?”

Silver Grey looked at him, chuckling.

Just as the two were about to say more, there was a sudden dull thud from outside, causing a significant tremor. Even the warship seemed to shake three times.

Silver Grey looked back.

Jian Luo’s eyes widened slightly, his heart suddenly hopeful. “Could it be…”

“Look how excited you are,” Silver Grey scoffed. “It’s only been a few days; acting like it’s a life-or-death reunion.”

This was too much!

Jian Luo didn’t have the mood to bother with him. His heart and eyes were filled with anticipation, hoping it was indeed Lu Shifeng, hoping it was him, hoping it was the person coming to rescue him.

The electronic door outside beeped.

Silver Grey said, “Come in.”

“Sir,” an officer stood outside, “it’s the military. Their warship has surrounded us, and Lu Shifeng is here.”

Lu Shifeng is here.

Five words that didn’t weigh much but carried an invisible pressure for everyone present. Sometimes, a person’s name is like a verdict.

Silver Grey was smart. “Don’t confront him head-on. He’s acting crazy right now. Just find a way to open a wormhole and go around.”

The officer glanced at Jian Luo and nodded. “Got it.”

Silver Grey turned to look at Jian Luo, chuckling. “What’s wrong? You were quite talkative earlier. Why so quiet now?”

Jian Luo stood quietly in place, no longer making a fuss. “I’m tired of talking.”

He calmed down completely. With Lu Shifeng around, he had nothing to fear.

Silver Grey was about to speak when suddenly, a scream came from outside, followed by the roar of a dragon. The sound was distant yet resonant, carrying with it a visible anger, marking Jian Luo’s first time hearing a dragon’s roar—a mix of roughness and majestic authority.

Chaos erupted outside.

Silver Grey was the first to react. “Madman.”

Just as the officer was about to take Jian Luo back, all the lights in the hall went out, leaving only the emergency green lights on the walls. The world plunged into darkness, fostering fear in the hearts of those present.

In the darkness, there were gunshots, voices, and the sounds of mechanical battles.

Boom!

The outer walls seemed to have been breached, and the wall that could withstand cannonball impacts collapsed with a deafening crash. Along with the collapse came smoke, and amidst it, a man in military uniform stood tall, staring straight at them.

Silver Grey spat, “Are you out of your mind?”

Jian Luo was behind Silver Grey, who brushed off everything thrown at him. Then he continued, “You know what consequences you’ll face for forcibly breaking my mechanisms? Do you want to die?”

Lu Shifeng remained silent.

Silver Grey had no choice. He took Jian Luo and used him as a hostage, warning Lu Shifeng, “I advise you not to come any closer. This entire hall is rigged with mechanisms. If you trigger them by coming closer, I’ll be fine, but I can’t guarantee the safety of your sweetheart.”

Lu Shifeng stood still, his red eyes shining like blood. He looked at Silver Grey quietly. Suddenly, a smile crept onto his lips, a smile carrying boundless chilliness, sending shivers down one’s spine. He said, “Bring her here.”

Soldiers dragged someone over, and Jian Luo immediately saw the woman in red.

The queen was brought over, her hands bound. She looked somewhat disheveled, obviously captured.

Silver Grey leaned against the counter, first stunned, then burst into laughter. “Brother, why do you think capturing her can pressure me?”

Lu Shifeng remained silent.

“After retreating, you still managed to get captured; you’re weak. Such feeble women…” Silver Grey paused, then turned to Jian Luo. “Hey, did you kick me just now?”

Jian Luo, expressionless, retracted his leg. “No.”

Silver Grey asked, “Then who else?”

Ignoring him, Jian Luo looked at Lu Shifeng nearby. Lu Shifeng, or rather, the entire dragon, seemed somewhat abnormal now. Half of his face was covered in scales, his dragon horn was still visible, and even the ground he stood on had turned red within moments.

He’s injured.

He’s bleeding.

Jian Luo’s eyes widened, taking a step forward towards Lu Shifeng. Silver Grey moved faster, and a temporal vortex appeared seemingly out of nowhere, just a meter away. The wind even tugged at Jian Luo’s clothes.

Silver Grey pulled Jian Luo towards it.

But Lu Shifeng had been fooled once. The Black Dragon’s reaction speed was astonishing. With Silver Grey halfway into the vortex, a bullet tore through space, aimed at Silver Grey’s leg.

Silver Grey squinted, releasing Jian Luo’s hand. Half of his body transformed into a dragon form to block the bullet. Thus, in front of Jian Luo, in the vast medical hall, he saw the Silver Dragon for the first time, a magnificent, shining silver dragon, seemingly the opposite of Lu Shifeng, black and white, conflicting yet complementary.

Silver Grey is an intelligent dragon. A smart dragon cannot compete with a crazy one. With a flick of his tail, he rushed over and picked up the queen nearby at lightning speed, heading swiftly towards the vortex about to close.

Jian Luo was right beside him.

The entire medical hall was shaking. Bottles and jars on one wall clattered down, some glass jars even shattered near his feet. Silver Grey rushed over, wanting to grab Jian Luo and leave. However, Jian Luo kept clutching onto a ring, prepared for any eventuality. To protect himself, he crawled under the table.

The cacophony around was deafening, and the smoke irritated him. Jian Luo sat under the table, instinctively clutching his stomach. He felt intense cramps, and the dragon inside him started to move restlessly, sensing the unease.

In an instant, the aura of dragon hatchlings filled the entire warship, and all dragons sensed it.

“Bang!”

Another shelf collapsed.

Silver Grey was the closest. The instinct to protect dragon hatchlings was ingrained in dragonkind. Silver Grey veered slightly towards Jian Luo, using his tail to deflect the shelf about to hit the table. Just as Silver Grey was about to come closer, a black dragon charged in, knocking the person aside.

Two dragons fought fiercely. Things on the walls fell, and Jian Luo, gripping the ring tightly, accidentally cut his palm on its sharp edge, staining the ring with blood.

“Drip.”

The ring glowed.

A suction force activated a teleportation wall beside Jian Luo. Everything happened in an instant. Even Jian Luo, the ring’s owner, didn’t react in time. He didn’t know the ring’s opening method. Worse still, the force was too strong for him to crawl out from under the table, out of the teleportation range.

Author’s Note: Hatchling: The day I was born, my dad and my uncle were fighting.

Chapter 116 – The Children Are Innocent

Chapter 116 – The Children Are Innocent

Jian Luo kept his gaze fixed on the footage above. He hadn’t looked away yet. These things, these recordings, were all things he had never seen before, things he had never thought about. He felt shocked, incredulous, and even a little sad.

The queen smiled, “Shall we play?”

Jian Luo asked, “What do you want to play?”

“If you don’t believe these things are real, let’s go to the central level of the Dark Star Medical Research Institute,” the queen flicked her red hair, “See what they’re doing there.”

This wasn’t playing a game; it was just forcing something upon him.

Jian Luo closed his eyes, leaned back in his seat for a moment, then straightened up. “I don’t want to see.”

The queen raised an eyebrow, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.

Silver Gray lounged beside, crossing his legs lazily. “Just a word of advice, better to stay put here. Even if you run back to Dark Star, they won’t treat you like a person, won’t give you freedom. Those people from the dragon race, no, those people from Dark Star, they’ve gone mad. They’ve all gone mad, long gone.”

Jian Luo remained silent.

It was impossible for him not to return. His mother and brother were still on Dark Star. Though he didn’t have a deep bond with them in a certain sense, but…

He didn’t want to live the life of an interstellar pirate here either.

After much contemplation, Jian Luo said, “Whatever I face upon my return is my own choice. Bringing me here against my will is a violation of my wishes. If I return to Dark Star, I might be imprisoned only after I’m born. But here, I’m already imprisoned.”

“If you’re giving me the opportunity to choose, as you say, then aren’t you the one restricting my freedom now?” Jian Luo said earnestly, “You have no right to decide others’ lives, understand?”

After saying this, he looked at Silver Gray.

Silver Gray looked at him with a somewhat pitying gaze, as if hearing the biggest joke in the world. He even seemed to marvel at the innocence and stupidity of humans.

Silver Gray was straightforward, “Haven’t you figured it out yet?”

Jian Luo choked.

“Do you still think he will protect you? He’s the Dragon King first, then Lu Shifeng,” Silver Gray clarified, “First comes the responsibility to the race, then the responsibility of a father. If you can’t distinguish between the two, you’re just too foolish.”

Jian Luo’s hands, placed aside, involuntarily clenched.

Silver Gray sighed, saying, “Look at Dark Star, look at its prosperity. In reality, everyone there is just a walking dead, unhappy. They’re all living in an invisible prison.”

“Even if you have children, so what?” Silver Gray sneered, “It’s just dragging another race, even humanity, into this prison. Because of you, perhaps all of humanity will become sacrifices to this hell. You say everyone has the right to choose their own life. What about your own kind? Do they have the chance to choose because of everything you’ll endure?”

Jian Luo choked up, unexpectedly speechless.

“Think about it when you go back. You can leave now,” Silver Gray said to the queen below, “Take him back.”

The queen stood up and agreed.

The journey back through the corridor was as long as before, but Jian Luo’s state of mind was entirely different. Before, he had only thought about memorizing the route to escape, but now he felt a profound sense of powerlessness emanating from within. This feeling was too heavy; he couldn’t shake it off.

The queen ushered him into a room. “Luoluo.”

Jian Luo turned around.

“Make the best of what you have,” the queen winked at him, “There will be a small party this afternoon. I can take you to join.”

Jian Luo wasn’t in the mood and didn’t want to play, but as a prisoner, he had no choice but to agree. “Okay.”

This was his first time participating in a gathering of the interstellar pirate group.

Within this interstellar pirate group were many different races, but most were dragons. Jian Luo followed the queen into the hall and sat in a prominent position.

At the highest seat sat Silver Gray. Below, there was peace and revelry. Various delicacies from different planets were laid out on the table, all piled together like a buffet.

There were many foods Jian Luo wasn’t used to, but having traveled to so many places with Lu Shifeng, he had learned to adapt. When he encountered something he didn’t like, he would find a way to cook it himself and change the cooking method.

At the moment, there was grilled meat on the table.

Jian Luo sliced the meat with a knife, sprinkled some salt, found some vegetable leaves, then took two pieces of bread to wrap it all up, making a sandwich.

There happened to be sweet sauce on the table. Jian Luo simply picked it up and drew a smiley face on the bread, lightening the mood a bit.

Silver Gray had been watching him all along. When Jian Luo was almost done, Silver Gray spoke, “What are you doing?”

Jian Luo was taken aback and looked up, “Making food.”

Silver Gray nodded and reached out, “Give it to me, let me taste.”

“…”

Jian Luo’s joy vanished. He disagreed, “You’re not used to it. I just made it randomly.”

“Don’t wait for me to get it myself,” Silver Gray ignored his protests, “The consequences could be severe, you know?”

Jian Luo choked.

Indeed, reasoning with a pirate was futile. He reluctantly handed the sandwich over, suppressing the urge to throw it in Silver Gray’s face, and turned to leave. But he heard a voice from behind, “Come back.”

Jian Luo turned around, “What now?”

Silver Gray tore the sandwich in half and handed one half back to Jian Luo, then said, “When you were with Lu Shifeng, did you eat these too?”

Jian Luo took the food, hesitated for a moment, then took a slow bite, “No.”

“What did you eat then?”

“… A lot of things.”

Silver Gray seemed to find something amusing, “Alright, from now on, you can go to the kitchen every day. Whatever you used to eat, you can make it for me.”

Jian Luo refused outright, “No, I’m pregnant, I can’t cook.”

Silver Gray said, “Are you stupid? Having the chance to go to the kitchen means you can move around more. What if there’s a chance to escape? Someone like you, if caught, won’t even have a chance to escape.”

Jian Luo’s lips twitched, “Thanks for your concern.”

Silver Gray replied, “You’re welcome.”

Jian Luo swore he had never seen such illogical behavior from a former pirate. Just when you thought he was going to cause trouble, he might just be joking around, and when you thought he wanted to imprison you, he might give you a chance to escape. Silver Gray was unpredictable, impossible to fathom. He was like a child addicted to games; you never knew what he would do next.

“Oh!”

The queen returned from the dance floor below.

She said to Jian Luo, “How’s the food? Do you like it?”

Jian Luo looked at her slightly disheveled appearance. Somehow, everything a charming woman did seemed to have a certain allure. Following his gaze, Jian Luo noticed some bruises on the queen’s body, partly visible due to her clothing shifting.

The queen said, “Do you think my figure is good?”

Jian Luo didn’t respond. He simply took off his slightly oversized coat and dr4p3d it over the queen, “The air conditioning here is quite cold.”

The queen was stunned.

For the first time, an expression resembling surprise and confusion appeared on her beautiful face, although it lasted only a moment, it was enough.

Supporting her chin with one hand, the queen asked, “What, do you think I look bad?”

Jian Luo, with a mouthful of sandwich, didn’t indulge her. His straight male demeanor kept her firmly in check, “If you’re not cold, then give it back to me.”

The queen was first stunned, then burst into laughter.

Her laughter was joyous, her delicate frame trembling, her voice coquettish: “Well, it’s rare not to be undressed by someone but to have someone dress me instead. I’ll wear it then, just to experience it, to enjoy this feeling.”

Jian Luo took a sip of water. “With your conditions, finding someone who treats you well shouldn’t be difficult, right?”

The queen’s smile gradually faded. She tidied her hair, her exquisite face devoid of much pride. “Some paths can only be looked upon forward, not retraced.”

Jian Luo turned to look at her, but she was gazing upward.

The Silver Gray figure sat on the throne, accompanied by two delicate maidens dining with him. Unlike Lu Shifeng, he was more focused on indulgence, evident from the luxurious decor of the warship. The two women sitting beside the Silver Gray were equally beautiful.

Jian Luo found the queen’s gaze towards the Silver Gray somewhat familiar, a suppressed fondness. Though the queen hadn’t said anything, the eyes never lie. Jian Luo guessed the queen must have feelings for the Silver Gray. But why weren’t they together? That, he couldn’t figure out.

Jian Luo was not accustomed to such scenes. He wiped his hands. “I’m full, I want to go back.”

The queen glanced at the Silver Gray.

The Silver Gray waved his hand, prompting the queen to say to Jian Luo, “You can’t rest so soon after eating. Let me take you for a walk first.”

Jian Luo replied, “As you wish.”

They walked through the vast corridors of the warship, accompanied by a vice admiral this time. Normally, they didn’t have a vice admiral accompanying them for walks. This time, Jian Luo had a vague ominous feeling.

Sure enough, they stopped in front of a somewhat unfamiliar door.

The queen pressed her hand against it, and the vice admiral also pressed it down. Only then did the door open. Inside were various medical devices, bottles and jars stacked against one wall. Further inside, they saw people. These must be the injured ones, lying on beds. Some of them looked peculiar to Jian Luo because… they were in child form.

Jian Luo asked, “Are they your children?”

The queen glanced at him before replying, “It seems you know nothing about the Dragon Clan. Dragon scales can help them resist ninety percent of fatal injuries. But if they face a life-threatening situation beyond that, their defense mechanism will be triggered. To reduce the flow of life energy, severely injured dragons undergo atavism, reverting to their juvenile form.”

Jian Luo widened his eyes. “What about their intelligence?”

The vice admiral behind them said, “It diminishes until they recover from their injuries.”

Jian Luo nodded. He actually thought it was quite good. It was probably a self-protection mechanism of their bodies. Dragons were indeed a unique race, with extremely strong healing abilities. They were nearly indestructible. If not for problems in their reproduction, they might have dominated the galaxy.

“Drip.”

A door ahead opened.

The queen gestured for Jian Luo to enter. This was another hidden room, filled with doctors in white coats. The scene sent shivers down Jian Luo’s spine.

The queen said, “Don’t be nervous. It’s just a blood sample collection for you and your unborn child’s examination, to reduce the risks during childbirth.”

Seeing the syringes made Jian Luo a bit scared.

The medical staff came over, making Jian Luo sit on the apparatus before starting to draw blood. They were clearly different from the medical staff on the warship. They knew he was afraid of pain; each time they were careful and even engaged in conversation to distract him. Finally, they only took a small sample.

After the blood was drawn, they conducted various other tests before leaving.

The queen stood behind the whole time. After the examination was done, she led Jian Luo back, saying, “You don’t need to cook after eating. Just rest in your room. I’ll come see you tomorrow.”

The two stood at the door of the room.

Jian Luo turned and asked, “What are you going to do?”

The queen first looked stunned, then said, “What are you talking about?”

“Isn’t it a physical examination?” Jian Luo looked at her quietly. “I’ve been through many examinations, and what you just had me do didn’t fit into the scope of a physical examination.”

The queen remained silent.

A smile tugged at Jian Luo’s lips. “You talk about it being for me and the child’s good, but the Dark Star people haven’t come to examine me. Aren’t you in a hurry? Although I don’t know what Silver Gray wants to do, but his current behavior, how is it any different from those elders of the Dragon Clan back then?”

“Is his concept of freedom just restricting others’ freedom?” Jian Luo leaned against the door. “Instead of thinking about how to harm their own kind, how to sacrifice others, why not reflect on oneself and cherish the present moment?”

Karma, sow the seeds, reap the fruits.

Whether it was the Dark Star, the Dragon Clan, or humanity, under the broken nest, how could there be perfect eggs? During the prosperity of humanity, they neglected the balance of nature, failed to protect the ecological environment, and thus received nature’s retribution. And if there were problems in the reproduction of the Dark Star’s race, it was also the retribution given by nature.

This world is fair, always fair. Everyone has to pay the price for what they do.

“The children are innocent.” Jian Luo sighed. “And I am human. My body is not as robust as a female dragon’s. The due date is approaching, and I’m worried about malnutrition affecting the safety of the child’s birth. I may not be worth much, but these children, they are Lu Shifeng’s children. I dare say, if anything happens to them, Lu Shifeng, no, the Dark Star, will not let you off.”

They locked eyes in silence.

The queen, standing before him, stared at Jian Luo for a moment, then walked into the room, closing the door behind her. This action startled Jian Luo.

“What are you doing?” Jian Luo asked.

The queen glanced at a certain spot on the room’s monitor, a smile playing on her lips. She pulled Jian Luo to sit on the bed, then reached out and pulled down the canopy, leaving only the two of them on the bed, eye to eye.

Then, the queen took off a ring from her hand and placed it in Jian Luo’s hand.

Jian Luo asked, “What’s this?”

“A spatial ring, it can transport you to other places.” The queen adjusted her hair. “You can’t use it here. Three days later, the starship will stop at a planet for replenishment. As long as you find an opportunity to leave the control network of the warship, the ring will function normally.”

Jian Luo’s eyes widened slowly.

The queen smiled. “Then you can leave.”

Jian Luo stuttered, “Why are you helping me?”

Isn’t this strange? Aren’t they on the same side? And what benefit does she get from helping him?

The queen reclined on the bed, her tone slightly heavy. “I’m not helping you, I’m helping him. He doesn’t want to live, but I want him to live. You’re right, Lu Shifeng will indeed not let Silver Gray off. But as long as you’re safe, he might give Silver Gray a chance to live. Luo Luo, I hope you remember my help today. In the future… if you have the chance, I hope you can let Silver Gray off, okay?”

Chapter 115 – Dragon Egg

Chapter 115 – Dragon Egg

Jian Luo felt like everything was surreal.

Just this time yesterday, he was on the warship, contemplating whom to distribute the specialty goods brought back, whether his younger brother had grown taller, and if his mother would cry upon seeing him after so long.

Would the child be born safely? The second batch of elf dried fruits was about to start presales.

Yesterday at this time, he had thought about a lot, but never did he imagine that, so soon, all of this wouldn’t matter, and his very survival would be in question.

The queen said, “Luo Luo, come, I’ve prepared a room for you.”

Jian Luo was somewhat surprised, “I still have a room?”

“Of course!” The queen spun around, her smile infectious. It was quite different from her obedient demeanor on that planet before, which surprised Jian Luo greatly. “You’re invited as a guest. Why would we mistreat you?”

Jian Luo didn’t know what to say and could only stiffly respond, “Thank you.”

The two walked silently down the corridor. Jian Luo could see people coming and going around them without even needing to pay much attention. He could easily distinguish between the Dragon Clan and other races. Having been with Lu Shifeng for so long, he was very familiar with the aura of the Dragon Clan.

Whenever a member of the Dragon Clan passed by, they would look at him, their gaze full of respect.

The queen said cheerfully, “You exude a strong aura of the Dragon King. The Dragon Clan naturally respects and admires the Dragon King from their bloodline.”

Jian Luo didn’t say anything.

“Of course, it may not just be because you’re associated with Lu Shifeng, but also because of the bloodline in your belly,” the queen said. “You may not know this, but there are only two pure-blooded dragons in the world today.”

This piqued Jian Luo’s curiosity.

The queen deliberately asked him, “Guess who they are?”

Jian Luo replied, “I don’t know.”

“Aren’t you curious?”

“No.”

“…,”

The queen pursed her lips, finding it quite dull.

But Jian Luo wasn’t truly uninterested. He could roughly guess because he was so familiar with Lu Shifeng’s aura. Therefore, he could discern people with a similar aura to Lu Shifeng’s. He hadn’t encountered them before coming to this warship, but he felt it when he saw Silver Grey.

That kind of assertive, subtly dangerous aura.

Silver Grey was even more dangerous than Lu Shifeng, perhaps because he didn’t restrain himself like Lu Shifeng always did when facing Jian Luo.

After walking for a while, they finally arrived at the agreed-upon room.

Jian Luo obediently entered, and he heard the queen say, “There are books on the table for you to read. The new bracelet only connects to our intranet. If you need anything, you can call me through the bracelet.”

Jian Luo nodded.

“Click.”

The door closed.

After the queen left, the room was quiet with only Jian Luo inside. There was a corner in the room with a double bed. Jian Luo couldn’t care less at this point and walked over, lying down. He was too tired, his emotions had been tense all this time. Despite appearing calm on the surface, his legs were somewhat weak now. Finally alone, he collapsed, though the bed was a bit hard. After struggling for a while, he gave up.

Outside.

The adjutant and the queen stood in front of the monitor, watching Jian Luo tossing and turning on the bed, utterly without dignity.

The queen said, “Is this a human pre-sleep ritual?”

The adjutant replied, “Humans would name this behavior pattern.”

“What?”

“Boredom.”

“…,”

The queen propped her chin up and watched Jian Luo, saying, “I’m warning you, show him some respect. Not only is he the future Dragon King’s mother, but he might also be the future queen.”

The adjutant said, “Isn’t Silver Grey not interested in these things?”

“He’s just doing whatever he wants,” the queen said lazily, sitting on the throne-like chair with her red curls flowing. “Did you not see how eagerly he went to shoot commercials on the first day? And when he came back, he specifically sought opportunities to scare people in videos. Now, he’s putting in so much effort to snatch things back from someone.”

The adjutant remained silent.

“So,” the queen glanced at him leisurely, “I’m warning you, it’s best not to have any bad ideas. We can’t afford the consequences.”

The adjutant sneered.

While they were talking, Jian Luo had already fallen asleep in the room. His mental resilience was excellent. He fell asleep quickly and deeply, even covering himself with a small blanket.

When he woke up, Jian Luo sat up, feeling hungry.

“Beep.”

His wrist beeped.

Jian Luo answered the call, hearing the queen’s voice on the other end, “Are you awake? I’ll take you somewhere.”

Jian Luo didn’t refuse. After all, going anywhere was better than starving the child in his belly, right?

Coming out of the room, Jian Luo met the queen.

Smiling, the queen said, “Because you’re human, I’ve prepared some human-favorite foods for you. Come, you should like them.”

Jian Luo was very curious.

When they arrived at the dining hall, Jian Luo was once again amazed by Silver Grey’s extravagance. The dining hall was truly made of gold and silver. The tables and chairs were almost entirely made of gold, sparkling everywhere. It was dazzlingly ostentatious.

Jian Luo asked, “Is the decor always like this here?”

The queen explained, “I swear it’s not my taste. It’s all that vulgar man Silver Grey’s fault. But then again, aren’t all Dragon Clans like this?”

Jian Luo choked up, “But the Dragon Clan’s warships aren’t like this, are they?”

The queen smirked, “Because Lu Shifeng is a freak.”

Jian Luo was silent for a while before speaking, “He’s not.”

The queen looked at him.

“Everyone has their preferences,” Jian Luo earnestly refuted her, “He has the right to choose his preferences. He’s not a freak.”

The queen looked at Jian Luo for a moment, a hint of a meaningful smile on her face. “Oh~”

Jian Luo felt awkward under her gaze.

In the dining hall, he finally saw what the so-called “human favorites” looked like. They were just some ordinary home-cooked dishes, most of which he had made during his time on the industrial star.

The queen said later, “You taught me how to cook during our time together. These are all made by me. Eat with peace of mind. They’re not poisoned.”

Jian Luo nodded, “Thank you.”

Watching him eat without any complaints and even without a hint of hesitation, the queen became curious, “Aren’t you picky at all?”

Jian Luo said, “What’s there to be picky about in prison food? It’s good to have something to eat. Besides, even if you wanted to kill me, poisoning would be too much trouble. My life and death are entirely in your hands now. Is there a need to beat around the bush?”

The queen fell silent for a while before smiling.

Jian Luo quietly finished his meal, even making a request, “I’d like to walk around a bit to aid digestion.”

The queen agreed.

Silver Grey’s warship was so vast that at first, Jian Luo hoped to find an escape route while walking and planned his route mentally. However, there were so many twists and turns inside that he soon forgot about it.

The Queen saw through his intentions: “You better not waste your efforts here. This place is filled with traps and mechanisms. You may not know, but Silver Grey is the top mechanic in the galaxy. Otherwise, why do you think your man can tolerate him for so long?”

Jian Luo: “If Silver Grey is so capable, why must he resort to being a robber?”

After all, he is of the Dragon Clan, and he possesses great strength. No matter where he goes, he can be highly valued. Why engage in such a dangerous profession?

The Queen stood with Jian Luo at the doorway of a room and said to him, “So what if he’s powerful? Lu Shifeng is so powerful, yet he can only be a Dragon King, isn’t that right?”

“…”

Jian Luo was momentarily speechless.

He felt that the statement was somewhat strange, but he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was odd about it.

The door to the room opened, revealing a very spacious hall. Sitting on the throne at the top was Silver Grey, legs crossed.

The Queen said, “Here we are.”

Silver Grey glanced at Jian Luo. “What do you usually do when you’re with Lu Shifeng and have some free time?”

Jian Luo honestly replied, “Read, go for a run, surf the internet, do business.”

Silver Grey was somewhat shocked.

Unreasonably, Jian Luo felt a bit offended because from Silver Grey’s eyes, he inexplicably felt like a bumpkin, the kind who had no entertainment activities.

Silver Grey waved to Jian Luo, his mask gleaming coldly in the light. “Come.”

Jian Luo didn’t want to move.

“Hurry up,” Silver Grey said impatiently. “Don’t make me come looking for you myself.”

“…”

The Queen comforted Jian Luo, “It’s okay; he’s just trying to intimidate you.”

Jian Luo didn’t feel comforted at all, but he still stepped forward and sat down next to Silver Grey. Silver Grey pressed some buttons, and the entire hall was covered with curtains, dimming the lights considerably, giving the impression of watching a movie.

Jian Luo was curious. “What are we watching?”

Silver Grey lazily leaned back in his chair. “Something interesting.”

Just a few moments later, something appeared on the screen. It seemed like a documentary, with initially blurry figures gradually becoming clear.

There were several elderly individuals standing in front of two dragon eggs.

“This is the last batch of clones.”

“We’ve paid too much to produce these pure-blood dragon eggs. We can’t sacrifice anymore…”

“What’s the big deal? Everything is for the future of the Dragon Clan. Sacrificing a few people is to ensure that more people live well.”

Behind these elders, there was a densely packed wall, divided into many small compartments, each containing many dragon eggs. These eggs were pierced by a straw to provide nutrients to the two eggs in the middle.

To achieve success, countless sacrifices were made. The birth of a Dragon King was filled with sin from the moment of birth.

Silver Grey said, “Hey, guess which one is me?”

“…”

Jian Luo was initially engrossed, feeling quite heavy-hearted, but Silver Grey’s interruption left him unsure of what to say.

Silver Grey pointed to one of them. “That one.”

Jian Luo looked at the red egg and instinctively said, “That’s you?”

“No.”

“…”

Silver Grey then pointed to the silver egg beside it. “That’s me.”

Jian Luo’s gaze remained on the screen. It was his first time facing such cruelty. He dared not count how many dragon eggs were on the walls. The direct impact shook his entire being. If those eggs were all living beings…

Silver Grey said, “This is just the beginning.”

The footage continued, seemingly pieced together from surveillance cameras, lacking any narrative coherence, simply moving from one scene to another.

Slowly, the camera angle changed.

Two boys lay on cold hospital beds. They were very young, probably only a few years old, surrounded by a group of people in white coats. The scales of the young dragons were not fully developed, and the medical staff wanted to take samples directly from their bodies.

Only the Dragon Clan knew how painful it was to have scales taken, but the two boys showed no expression. They seemed accustomed to it, or perhaps they knew that crying and struggling wouldn’t bring any help.

Silver Grey said, “Guess which one is me?”

Jian Luo expressionlessly replied, “The one with white hair.”

“Why?” Silver Grey was excited. “Because he’s exceptionally handsome?”

Jian Luo honestly said, “Because the adult’s eyes are red, while the one next to him with black hair has red eyes.”

Silver Grey pursed his lips, finding it somewhat dull.

The scene continued. After everyone left, the boy with white hair tried to climb out of bed but fell. He began to cry, wiping his tears, while the boy with black hair and horns on his head simply watched quietly.

Finally, the black-haired boy seemed to say something, and the white-haired boy stopped crying.

Silver Grey said, “Guess what he said?”

Jian Luo didn’t hesitate. “Crying is the most pathetic behavior of weak people.”

?

Silver Grey was shocked. “You knew that?”

“I knew.” Jian Luo had no expression. “He said the same thing to me when I cried.”

“…”.

Silver Gray choked up a bit.

The scene continued to unfold. In the surveillance documentary, the two children grew slowly. The medical staff became increasingly disappointed in them. All data indicated that these two pure-blooded dragons were too weak; they were failures.

The depth of disappointment people felt towards them was proportional to the expectations they had placed on them.

People began openly discussing:

“Should we start the breeding process again?”

“There’s no way. This is the last batch. The gene bank left by the old Dragon King is depleted.”

“Then…”

Someone glanced back at the two of them, the implication crystal clear.

If the new Dragon King couldn’t meet their expectations, they would have to take unconventional measures. To these people, these were not children; they were merely replicas, machines.

Silver Gray said, “Between him and me, I’m the weaker one.”

Jian Luo felt a mix of emotions.

“They want to remake me,” Silver Gray picked up the nearby glass, “The night before, we ran away. We could have left together, but when I went out, he didn’t. You know what he said?”

Jian Luo asked, “What?”

“He said, ‘The dragon race cannot vanish like this,'” Silver Gray recounted slowly, “He said he would stay behind, for the rise and fall of our race.”

Silver Gray had always thought that Lu Shifeng was a madman. He knew full well that facing death awaited him upon return, that the dragons would show him no warmth, and that the extinction of their race was inevitable.

But Lu Shifeng would only say, “Someone has to bear it.”

If not them, then someone else.

Silver Gray pushed the glass aside. “I grabbed you away for your own good. Do you know what awaits you on Dark Star?”

Jian Luo remained silent.

“Right now, they’re not studying you because they fear harming the children,” Silver Gray brought up the current hospital surveillance of Dark Star, “If the dragon race treats their own offspring’s eggs like this, imagine how they’ll treat you, an outsider?”

Silver Gray sighed. “It’s not just you; even those in your belly will be sent for research.”

Jian Luo’s eyes widened slightly.

Silver Gray smirked sarcastically, “If they unfortunately inherit some human frailty, what awaits them will be endless disappointment and relentless pressure. If you agree, that’s best; if you don’t, there are other ways.”

Jian Luo didn’t want to hear any more of this. He didn’t want to know these things at all. “Stop talking.”

The queen sitting below timely interjected, “Luoluo, I’ve told you before, but you didn’t believe. How about this, let’s play a game, make a bet. If you win, we’ll let you go. If you lose, you’ll believe what we say. How about it?”

Chapter 114 – Lu Shifeng’s Son

Chapter 114 – Lu Shifeng’s Son

After Secretary Jin left, the bombardment didn’t stop.

Jian Luo wasn’t very familiar with the adjutant. He said softly, “Adjutant, isn’t it tiring to stand there? Come and sit.”

The adjutant turned, looking at Jian Luo. “It’s fine, I’m not tired.”

Jian Luo hesitated. In the room, there was a small fridge with his homemade ice cream and desserts. Though it wasn’t the best time to eat, to ease the awkward atmosphere, he got up, took some desserts out, and placed them on the table.

Jian Luo offered: “I made these casually. If you don’t mind, please try them.”

The adjutant didn’t respond immediately. His face remained serious as he said, “Mr. Jian, I came here also to tell you something.”

Jian Luo’s hand shook, feeling a bit scared by the tense atmosphere outside. “What is it?”

The adjutant paused before saying, “Our battleship has indeed been attacked. To protect the Emperor, we must give our all. The marshal is leading the troops. The enemy’s firepower is intense, so…”

Jian Luo was on edge: “So?”

“There are no certainties in battle,” the adjutant said. “So, there is a possibility of a grim outcome. The marshal asked me to protect you and also to tell you something.”

Jian Luo, nestled on the sofa, felt completely anxious. “What is it?”

The adjutant’s expression was stern: “He hopes that if anything happens to him, you and the children can find a reliable support. He mentioned that Mr. Nie and the priest are responsible people…”

“…”

Jian Luo was speechless.

He had been nervous, but now, hearing this, his worry turned into anger.

Jian Luo laughed in exasperation: “At such a critical time, instead of thinking about reinforcements, you’re here delivering last words?”

The adjutant was taken aback.

Jian Luo, with nothing else to do, vented: “I’m not his property. How dare he think about dividing assets at a time like this? Listen, if anything happens to him, I’ll entrust the children to the dragon clan. As for me, you have no say.”

He didn’t even know what exactly he was angry about, but he was definitely upset.

He hoped Lu Shifeng would live well, hoped he would be safe.

His frustration might stem from Lu Shifeng’s first thought being to hand him over to others, treating him like a transferable item. But he was a living person!

The adjutant, observing Jian Luo’s genuine anger, picked up a piece

of dessert from the table and said, “Actually… there might be another way.”

Jian Luo was suspicious: “What?”

Holding the dessert, the adjutant said, “I heard their target isn’t just the Emperor but also you.”

Jian Luo was stunned, pointing to himself: “Me?”

“Yes.” The adjutant raised his eyes to look at him. This usually silent young man said, “The Silver Grey side demands that if you are willing to be their guest on their battleship, they will cease their attack.”

Jian Luo’s heart sank. This was a trap, wasn’t it?

This was obviously a malicious setup.

A guest? Only a fool would believe such a blatant lie, right?

Seeing Jian Luo hesitate, the adjutant’s face showed a faintly indifferent smile: “Didn’t you say you wanted to find a solution? If you agree, the marshal wouldn’t have to take such a huge risk.”

“……”

There was a moment of silence in the room.

Jian Luo sat on the sofa, sinking into silence. Just when the aide thought he would say something, Jian Luo suddenly spoke up, “I’m feeling a bit unwell. I need to use the restroom.”

The aide squinted.

Jian Luo patted his stomach. “Pregnant people often have poor health. Can you be understanding?”

The aide set down the pastries and gestured, “Go ahead.”

Jian Luo stood up to head to the bathroom. As he walked away, he heard the aide casually say from the sofa, “If you’re planning to contact someone in the bathroom, I advise you not to bother.”

Jian Luo paused.

“When I came in, our space was already divided,” the aide said with a smirk. “You can try to make a call, but I’m afraid you won’t be satisfied with the result.”

Jian Luo checked his wristband and found zero signal. In an instant, his heart sank halfway. It wasn’t that he suspected the aide for any other reason, but because he knew Lu Shifeng well. The Marshal wasn’t the type to sacrifice pawns for the sake of the bigger picture. Even if Silver Gray had made such a demand, Lu Shifeng wouldn’t agree, nor would he let such information reach Jian Luo’s ears. He was the type to handle everything and then come back to say, “Everything’s fine.”

“What’s your purpose?” Jian Luo asked.

The aide was somewhat surprised. “Are you so sure I’m lying?”

“Why are you doing this?” Jian Luo frowned, deeply puzzled. “I heard from Secretary Jin that you’ve been with the Marshal for centuries, and he trusts you so much. Why…”

“Shut up!”

The aide’s calm expression suddenly cracked, and he glared at Jian Luo with some resentment. “Do you think you can teach me what to do?”

“…”

Jian Luo obediently fell silent.

After a moment, the aide grew impatient again and sneered, “Why aren’t you talking? Feeling smug?”

Jian Luo remarked, “Whether I talk or not, you’re impossible to please.”

The aide’s face twisted momentarily, somewhat gritting his teeth. “When you meet Silver Gray, you’ll behave.”

“…”

Jian Luo suddenly remembered the masked figure he had seen on the screen last time, sending shivers down his spine.

A true man can bend and stretch. He decisively walked around the sofa to confront the aide. “Big brother, what have I done to offend you? Can’t I change and make amends? Please spare me. Whatever you want, I’ll give it to you, really.”

The aide remained seated on the sofa, unmoved. Upon hearing Jian Luo’s words, he looked up and said, “Anything I want?”

“Yeah, yeah,” Jian Luo nodded quickly.

The aide was serious. He stared into Jian Luo’s eyes. “I want Lu Shifeng. Will you give him to me?”

“…”

This wasn’t a joke.

Jian Luo felt utterly helpless. If it were anything else, it would be negotiable, but this… this situation was the most difficult to handle.

Seeing Jian Luo’s silence, the aide’s gaze turned colder. “Can you give him to me?”

“He’s not mine, how can I give him to you?” Jian Luo simply sat on the sofa, giving up the struggle. “For matters of the heart, forcing it is meaningless. You’ve been with him for so long. If there’s no hope, it’s probably because he doesn’t feel the same way about you. You have good qualities yourself. Why hang onto someone who doesn’t reciprocate? It’s futile.”

“You know nothing!” The aide’s calm expression suddenly cracked, and he looked at Jian Luo with some hatred. “What do you know about it?”

“…”

Jian Luo’s heart was in turmoil.

As he emerged from the portal, he immediately saw a familiar face—the Queen, now with red hair and dressed in a red dress. She cooed, “Luo Luo, if only you had come with me earlier, you wouldn’t have to endure this suffering.”

Jian Luo’s lips twitched, too overwhelmed to express surprise. “Is this what you call an undisturbed, untraceable paradise?”

The Queen shrugged, feigning tears. “I’m just a poor woman who was captured.”

The aide interjected with a deadpan expression, “Second Master, aren’t you tired?”

“…Not really,” the Queen reverted to her normal self. She smiled at Jian Luo, “You’ll like it here. You’ll be happy here from now on.”

“I don’t know about the future. I’m not very happy now,” Jian Luo said.

The Queen pursed her lips. “You’re still as humorous as ever.”

“Thanks,” Jian Luo replied dryly. “You’re not bad either.”

This seemed to be a large battleship, lavishly decorated with a taste reminiscent of nouveau riche opulence, exuding an atmosphere of extravagance everywhere. Golden trinkets were strewn around like trash, disregarded in the corners.

Compared to Lu Shifeng’s militaristic management style, this place hardly resembled a battleship. It was more like a leisure bar, indulgent and luxurious.

The Queen stood up and approached Jian Luo. “Is your due date approaching? What did the doctor say? Is there any danger?”

Jian Luo was a smart man. He and the Queen were somewhat acquainted, and in this unfamiliar environment with an unpredictable aide, it was better to cozy up to old friends. Who knew, perhaps his prison life would be more comfortable this way.

With these thoughts in mind, Jian Luo said, “It’s almost time. There’s danger in childbirth, but the doctor refuses to tell me more. Maybe he’s afraid I’ll overthink it. To be honest, I’m not sure myself.”

The Queen nodded, “Don’t worry, we’ve made a lot of preparations. Nothing will happen to you.”

“… But because of you all, I’m even more worried.”

However, Jian Luo didn’t dare to say it. He didn’t dare to ask either. Right now, he just wanted to play dead to avoid being dragged away for interrogation and torture.

Just as he was thinking, the Queen forcefully took his hand and removed his wristband, saying, “There’s a locator inside.”

The adjutant standing nearby added, “I’ve demagnetized it.”

“Restore the magnetism. Later, let Xiao Wang pilot the warship in the opposite direction,” the Queen said leisurely, “We can deceive them for a while.”

Jian Luo gave her a disdainful glance.

Ignoring Jian Luo’s expression, the Queen handed him a new wristband, “Don’t try to remove it. It’s not good for the baby.”

Initially, Jian Luo had some thoughts, but now he dared not move. He wasn’t afraid for himself, but he feared harming the child in his belly. Even if there was a slight possibility, he didn’t want to risk the child.

The adjutant said, “Don’t worry, nothing will happen to Lu Shifeng’s seed. It’s not that easy for something to go wrong.”

Jian Luo glared at the adjutant, genuinely wanting to kick him if not for the vast power difference.

The Queen poked Jian Luo’s belly, now dyed crimson, murmuring, “This is the future Dragon King…”

An awkward silence hung in the air. Just as they locked eyes, footsteps approached from the end of the corridor, led by a masked man followed by several lackeys.

As they walked, the man named Silver Grey grumbled, “Damn it, how many troops did I lose? Why is Lu Shifeng so ruthless? It’s like he killed my wife. I’ll get him sooner or later…”

As he spoke, he approached.

Silver Grey was surprised to see Jian Luo, “Oh, you’re here. Hey, little brother, I suddenly invited you over. Hope you don’t mind?”

Jian Luo was speechless, “It’s indeed quite sudden.”

The Queen teased, “Get used to it, Luoluo. He’s a rough man, not gentle at all.”

Silver Grey objected, “What’s it to you if women chatter all day? What’s your business with men talking? Shut up, will you?”

The Queen rolled her eyes.

Initially, Jian Luo thought he was here to suffer, even expecting to be locked up and tortured. However, unexpectedly, he was here to listen to a monologue, and surprisingly, it had a certain charm to it.

Silver Grey refocused his gaze on Jian Luo, saying, “Don’t worry, little brother. We’re not good people. Consider this place as your own home. Take whatever you want to eat. If you’re unhappy, we can blow up a couple of planets to relieve boredom. It’s okay, anyway, it’s not my business.”

“…,” Jian Luo was momentarily speechless.

Silver Grey chuckled, “Why so serious? Hey, we’re not threatening Lu Shifeng with you, are we?”

Jian Luo asked, “Then why did you…”

“To make Lu Shifeng’s son call me daddy, isn’t that satisfying?” Silver Grey began his absurd plan, “I’ll send him a video later to drive him crazy.”

Jian Luo was at a loss for words.

Chapter 113 – The Due Date Arrives

Chapter 113 – The Due Date Arrives

Jian Luo was stunned by the online comments he was reading.

Meanwhile, Lu Shifeng was changing his clothes behind the curtain. As he walked out, he had two small bear pajamas dr4p3d over his arm.

The young emperor was waiting on the sofa outside, initially bored. When he saw Lu Shifeng, especially noticing the pajamas in the marshal’s hand, his eyes widened. “Wow, so cute!”

Lu Shifeng remained expressionless.

The young emperor eagerly asked, “Where did Uncle Emperor get these clothes?”

Lu Shifeng finally glanced at him twice. Under the expectant gaze of the young emperor, he slightly parted his thin lips. His usually cold and hard demeanor showed a rare touch of pride and self-satisfaction. “Jian Luo gave them to me.”

The young emperor choked.

For some reason, he felt he had just been shown off to!

Jian Luo, who was still reading messages, suddenly heard his name. He listened for a moment and felt a bit guilty. Actually, he hadn’t made those clothes; Su Liang had. But since the marshal had already said it, he couldn’t contradict him and just let it go.

Lu Shifeng asked the emperor, “How many days does Your Majesty plan to stay here?”

The young emperor was displeased. “Is Uncle Emperor in such a hurry to drive me away? I am still on a private inspection!”

Lu Shifeng looked down at him from above. “Your Majesty has already stayed here for two days. Is it not enough?”

“…”

You are so annoying.

The young emperor sulked. “It’s not enough. The elves are beautiful, Luo Luo’s cooking is delicious, and the little magical gadgets here are fun. I am never leaving. Never in this lifetime.”

Lu Shifeng let out a cold laugh.

It carried no particular meaning, but it made the young emperor feel a chill down his spine.

The young emperor muttered, “Fine, I won’t come as a third wheel next time, okay?”

Lu Shifeng sneered again. “It seems His Majesty is clear about his role.”

“…”

Jian Luo, still on the bed, couldn’t hear clearly but could tell they were chatting outside. Feeling that sitting on the bed wasn’t appropriate, he got changed and came out.

Jian Luo had also changed into casual clothes, carrying pajamas in his hand.

The young emperor’s eyes lit up when he saw his deer pajamas. “They’re so pretty, Luo Luo.”

These pajamas were quite cute, featuring Q-version characters with big eyes and round bodies, looking adorably clumsy and soft-hearted.

In this interstellar era, such designs were rare as people favored realism. Thus, Jian Luo’s designed clothes were almost one-of-a-kind.

Usually, only he and Lu Shifeng could see each other’s pajamas. However, the marshal never complimented anything as cute, so Jian Luo rarely received any praise. Unexpectedly, today he gained some confidence from the young emperor!

Jian Luo said, “This design is simple but unique. My mother hand-sewed it, and it’s not available on the market.”

The young emperor was clearly very interested.

Hand-sewn items were quite different from those made by Dark Star machines. He asked, “May I have a look?”

Jian Luo smiled. “Of course.”

He had only worn these pajamas once or twice, so it was okay to show them. However, the marshal, being a dragon with strong possessiveness, wouldn’t normally allow others to touch such private items.

Before Jian Luo could hand over the pajamas, Lu Shifeng took a step forward and handed the ones he held. “Your Majesty, you can look at these.”

The young emperor was speechless.

Jian Luo was also a bit surprised. He glanced at Lu Shifeng, realizing that the marshal had a surprisingly strong desire to show off!

The young emperor examined the clothes and nodded in approval. “Luo Luo, if your mother wanted to be a fashion designer, she’d be an excellent seamstress!”

Jian Luo smiled. “Thank you.”

Since boarding the battleship, he had mostly stayed in touch with Su Liang and his little brother through communication devices, talking about everyday things but not meeting in a long time.

Jian Luo said, “When I go back, I will definitely discuss it with my mother.”

The young emperor was happy with that.

After chatting, the young emperor even stayed for breakfast, actively engaging as much as possible.

After breakfast, the young emperor asked, “Luo Luo, do you want to go out and play with me?”

Jian Luo said, “No, I have to take an exam with the priest and then do physical training on the battleship in the afternoon. The doctor advised it.”

The young emperor reluctantly nodded. “Alright then!”

Jian Luo was quite nervous when he went to find Zhan Wentai, knowing well how bad his grades were. It was almost like public punishment.

At the learning site, Jian Luo said, “Teacher.”

Zhan Wentai nodded and said, “Come and sit.”

Jian Luo thought it was exam time, so he took out his pen. “What subject are we testing today?”

Zhan Wentai said, “Oral skills.”

Great.

The hardest one.

Oral skills were as hard to learn as a foreign language, the subject Jian Luo hated the most after maths. But since it was being tested, he had to face it seriously.

After a grueling oral exam, his scores were a mess.

Zhan Wentai looked at him in silence, making him nervous. “Um… I’ll study more and retake it later.”

Zhan Wentai didn’t deny it. The priest simply said, “Oral skills are very important. Your pronunciation was not accurate before you left Dark Star. Now, though some words are unfamiliar, your pronunciation is standard.”

In interstellar communication, sometimes different species had to use a common language due to language barriers, making oral skills very advantageous.

Although Jian Luo’s skills were lacking, staying with Lu Shifeng had helped him pick up proper pronunciation through exposure. Jian Luo asked, “Teacher, do you think, with my current level, I can communicate if I get lost?”

Zhan Wentai was blunt. “Can you understand a three-year-old’s babbling?”

Jian Luo choked up. “Sometimes.”

“Mm.” Zhan Wentai nodded. “About that level.”

“…”

Thanks a lot.

His heart was shattered, but Jian Luo understood the importance of oral skills. If he wanted to expand his business and succeed, he needed these skills, just as Lu Shifeng had said. There would come a day when he’d have to manage things independently, without constant help.

So—he needed to work hard.

Because so many people were helping him, many were watching him. If he failed or made mistakes, people wouldn’t just laugh at him but also at those backing him.

Zhan Wentai noticed his low spirits and took out a pouch from his pocket.

Jian Luo was curious. “What is this?”

“A strength talisman,” Zhan Wentai said concisely. “Use it when you feel weak or down. Just tear it apart.”

Jian Luo opened his mouth in awe. “Is it magic?”

Zhan Wentai nodded.

Although Jian Luo found it amazing, he couldn’t fathom the value of a talisman made by the Phoenix clan. A phoenix spirit talisman, drawn with blood as ink and breath as a brush, required mind-body unity and was extremely rare. An auction once sold one of Zhan Wentai’s talismans for a planet, indicating its worth.

Holding a planet’s worth in his hand, Jian Luo chuckled. “It’s so pretty, I can’t bear to tear it.”

Zhan Wentai calmly sipped tea. “It’s fine. If you use it, I’ll make another.”

“Really?” Jian Luo was pleasantly surprised. His eyes curved into crescents when he smiled. “Thank you, teacher.”

Zhan Wentai lowered his eyes, not responding.

But Jian Luo understood. He said, “Teacher, I’ve recently developed some new dishes. I’ll make some and bring them over this afternoon.”

Zhan Wentai said, “No need to trouble yourself.”

Jian Luo quickly said, “It’s no trouble at all!”

Kidding, he thought, receiving such a precious talisman for free. Although he didn’t know its exact worth, anything the priest gave must be extraordinary, probably worth thousands!

In the afternoon, Jian Luo was taken for physical training.

Lu Shifeng’s battleship had a large training room with all kinds of facilities, some customized for human use.

Lu Shifeng walked in from outside.

Jian Luo, rubbing his belly, asked, “How long do I need to exercise?”

Lu Shifeng selected a few pieces of equipment. “Set your bracelet to exercise mode. Stop when it shows an energy value of 80.”

Jian Luo adjusted his bracelet.

To test how the energy value increased, he decided to run a lap. The training ground was about the size of a basketball court, just right for one lap. It was tiring but manageable.

“Whew…”

After one lap, Jian Luo, hands on his hips, checked his bracelet. The number was discouraging, breaking his heart a bit. “5?”

How many laps would that take?!

Lu Shifeng approached. “After running, you also need to strengthen your limbs.”

Against the wall was a variety of equipment, all custom-made for human height and endurance, showing great care.

Jian Luo felt tired. “Can I sit for a while?”

“After running, it’s bad for your heart to sit immediately,” Lu Shifeng said without looking back. “Come over.”

“…”

Fine.

Lu Shifeng was extremely

strict when teaching, so Jian Luo didn’t dare argue and obediently followed to practice.

After going through several sets of equipment, his energy value reached 50.

Jian Luo, panting and slightly petulant, said, “I can’t do it anymore. I’m really done.”

Lu Shifeng took out a towel to wipe his sweat. “Rest for a while.”

Jian Luo naturally said, “I want some water.”

Lu Shifeng fetched a bottle, opened it, and handed it to him. “Drink slowly.”

After a break, they resumed running. Jian Luo’s running was more like walking, but Lu Shifeng didn’t stop him, accompanying him at a slow pace. After a few laps, Lu Shifeng had him do some stretching exercises before resting.

Jian Luo sat on the ground. Due to his pregnancy, his limbs were swollen, and even slight movements could cause cramps. Just as he sat down, his leg started to ache.

Lu Shifeng asked, “Legs uncomfortable?”

Jian Luo nodded. “A bit. I’ll get some calcium tablets from the doctor later.”

Lu Shifeng knelt and skillfully massaged his leg. “Probably didn’t stretch enough. Massaging will help.”

The interaction between the two was very natural. The adjutant stood quietly at the doorway, watching, observing a side of the marshal he had never known.

Previously, he always thought Lu Shifeng was extremely cold and serious. He never got distracted by anyone, nor did he soften for anyone. He treated everyone ruthlessly, showing occasional gentleness only to the little dragons.

But even with the little dragons, Lu Shifeng was never lenient during training.

The adjutant once believed that this was just Lu Shifeng’s personality, his true nature that wouldn’t change. He thought the marshal was naturally like this with everyone.

But he was wrong. He was completely wrong. His past perceptions were overturned today when he saw Lu Shifeng standing beside Jian Luo, looking at him with gentle eyes and caring actions. It turned out Lu Shifeng could look at someone with such tenderness, be patient in taking care of someone, and even kneel down to massage someone’s legs.

It turned out…

It turned out…

Unexpectedly, the adjutant felt a strange emotion rising in his heart. He felt… jealous of Jian Luo.

Was it because of the children?

If there were no children, or if the children were someone else’s, his, would he receive such tenderness?

He had been by Lu Shifeng’s side for hundreds of years but had never received such gentleness. He had given his all, his utmost effort, yet never earned even a glance. He used to comfort himself, believing that Lu Shifeng was like this with everyone. But today, seeing this scene, he could no longer deceive himself.

Yes, the thing he longed for and desired could be easily obtained by someone else.

Jian Luo moved his legs: “Much better.”

Seeing him covered in sweat, Lu Shifeng knew he had worked hard. “Go take a bath. Tell the chef what you want for dinner.”

Usually, Jian Luo would teach the chef when he cooked. Many homestyle dishes the chef had learned from him, so when Jian Luo was busy, the chef would cook.

Jian Luo nodded lightly: “Okay.”

Reaching an energy value of 80 was really too difficult.

Kid, your dad is really going all out for you.

Just when he thought he had reached his limit, as the months passed, he hadn’t expected the energy value to keep increasing.

Lu Shifeng said, “Exercising is also good for you.”

“I hate it,” Jian Luo gritted his teeth. “Once they’re born, I’m never coming to this stadium again.”

Standing beside him, Lu Shifeng responded slowly, “Okay, we’ll go somewhere else.”

?

Jian Luo was full of question marks.

As the due date approached, it was clearly not suitable to give birth in the Elf territory. With time passing, only a month remained.

Jian Luo video-called Su Liang.

Su Liang asked, “Luo Luo, is your due date approaching?”

Jian Luo was chewing on dried fruit: “Yes, it’s less than a month now.”

“Are you coming back then?” Su Liang was very worried, “You must take care of your health.”

Jian Luo nodded: “We are coming back. I’m already on the battleship. It will take about five or six days to get back.”

Su Liang responded, her heart filled with worry. She knew there had been no precedent of humans getting pregnant. Even with advanced Dark Star technology, the process might not be foolproof. Moreover, no one knew if there would be issues during the birth of the dragon cubs, and if complications arose, who would be prioritized.

Thinking about this, Su Liang’s eyes reddened: “Luo Luo, you must be okay. Mom is waiting for you to come back.”

“…”

Jian Luo hadn’t been nervous, but her words made him anxious again.

He comforted her: “It’s okay, mom. After I have the babies, I’ll come back and live with you and my brother. No more worries.”

Su Liang, eyes red, nodded.

Compared to Su Liang’s excitement, Jian Luo had passed the phase of anxiety. He had worried enough and considered all possible outcomes, thinking he had envisioned the worst-case scenario, nothing worse could come.

“Knock knock knock.”

A knock sounded at the door.

Jian Luo said, “Come in.”

Secretary Jin stood outside with a meal cart. “Luo Luo, His Majesty and the others are on the front battleship. They have matters to discuss, and will come over later.”

Jian Luo was watching videos, these were childbirth tutorials. He nodded: “Okay.”

Secretary Jin, fearing he might be lonely, suggested, “Actually, you don’t have to stay in your room all the time. You can go out for a walk. We have built entertainment stations in other places too. Don’t worry, it’s very safe inside the battleship!”

“…”

“Boom!”

Before she finished speaking, an explosion was heard from not far away, causing the room to shake. The attacked battleship wasn’t theirs but the Emperor’s.

Jian Luo and Secretary Jin exchanged glances, both surprised.

Secretary Jin froze: “It seems His Majesty’s battleship was attacked.”

“Really?” Jian Luo became nervous: “Are they assassins? No, are they here to kidnap the Emperor?”

Secretary Jin wasn’t sure. The Emperor had always faced various life threats, as Dark Star was extremely wealthy. Many illegal organizations attempted to kidnap the Emperor to gain maximum profit from Dark Star.

“Boom!”

Another explosion shook the room.

Jian Luo, having some revolutionary friendship with the young emperor, said: “Is it okay over there? Should we go and check?”

Secretary Jin nodded: “His Majesty might be in danger, but Luo Luo, my duty is to protect you. You are very important, I cannot leave.”

Jian Luo, also scared, decided: “Then don’t leave.”

“…”

Alright then.

Both were worried. Just then, there was a knock at the door. Secretary Jin asked cautiously, “Who is it?”

The adjutant stood outside. “It’s me. The marshal sent me to protect Luo Luo.”

The smart door scanned, confirming it was the adjutant. Secretary Jin opened the door, anxious: “How are things up front?”

“Not good.” The adjutant adjusted his glasses. “It seems the attackers are well-prepared. This time, they are determined to kidnap the Emperor. Level one defense has been activated. During the battle with the interstellar pirates, did you input their data and the battleship’s defense data? The command center needs you to verify it now. The marshal sent me to replace you.”

Secretary Jin said, “Yes, I did. Is there a problem with the data?”

The adjutant nodded: “There are some discrepancies. They want you to check it out. It’s very dangerous over there, don’t waste any time.”

Secretary Jin quickly responded: “Take care of Luo Luo. Remember, no matter what, the troops here cannot be withdrawn.”

The adjutant nodded: “Understood.”
