Cherish

Chapter 7 – Partner (1)

Xi Zhao’s speed was frighteningly fast. For the first time, Qin Yun felt that his mental power was not enough. His face was covered with sweat, and the golden colour that glowed in the whites of his eyes was getting deeper and deeper.

In order to control the other party’s consciousness cloud, Qin Yun couldn’t afford to be distracted even for a moment. He was too embarrassed to ask Xi Zhao to come over and kiss him at any time. Seeing the other party appear so effortlessly in control, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of defeat.

“Little chicks.” Xi Zhao killed the last flame crocodile and walked over with a dagger, “Are your bows and arrows for decorations?”

Qin Yun was panting from exhaustion and muttered, “Do you think it’s so easy to use guiding tendrils? It’s not like with other sentinels, one lick and they’ll be fine…”

“O-ne-lick?” Xi Zhao said word by word. He narrowed his eyes dangerously, “You actually got licked by another man behind my back?”

Qin Yun: “…” Where did you get this inexplicable conclusion? Damn it?!

After the baptism of the Flame Crocodile, Qin Yun had already calmed down when the second batch of Mammoths came out. Compared to the Flame Crocodile, although the Mammoth had more substantial combat power and thicker skin and flesh, it was stupid enough. Even if it was very laborious to kill, they did not have to be afraid of being shaded from behind at any time.

Xi Zhao was beating a Mammoth mercilessly like a pig butcher in a slaughterhouse as he rode on its back. Qin Yun found it difficult to watch.

“Calm down…” Qin Yun was still tinkering with his bow. He wanted to try to see if he could condense his mental power into an ‘arrow’ and try to attack, “You have to realise many sanitary pads like us, oh, no, I mean, low-level guides like us generally have to guide numerous low-level sentinels on the battlefield. Occasionally being licked is also a special circumstance…”

The Mammoth let out a miserable cry. Xi Zhao fiercely pulled out the dagger from its eyeball, then stood on the corpse with a face full of blood and stretched out his tongue to lick the blade with an expressionless expression.

       Qin Yun: “…”

Xi Zhao: “Say it. Which bastards have licked you.”

Although sentinels had an unparalleled desire for exclusivity on guides that were linked to them, Qin Yun still found the situation tricky the first time he encountered it

He tried to use guiding tendrils to calm Xi Zhao’s restless consciousness and patiently explained, “I’m just talking about special circumstances… So far, no one has really licked me…” He looked at the other person’s expression and immediately added, “I will only let you lick me from now on!”

Xi Zhao seemed to be assessing the credibility of his words. He was silent for a long time before changing the subject and said, “What are you doing?”

“Oh, this.” Qin Yun raised the bow in his hand, “You can see, this is my mental power. I tried to make an ‘arrow’ that can attack the enemy’s brain from a long distance if I uh… shoot it accurately.”

Guide’s mental power basically had an offensive effect, but most of them controlled the opponent’s brain at close range, causing confusion and disturbing consciousness. Attacks that could damage the brain’s nervous system from a distance like Qin Yun’s were rare even among high-level guides.

“You shouldn’t be just a low-level guide.” Xi Zhao suddenly said, “You’re better than a lot of people.”

Qin Yun was a little flattered by such a straightforward compliment. He touched his nose embarrassedly, “But I don’t have a spiritual link… You should know the strength of a guide’s mental power determines the state of the spiritual link, and there’s no mistake about that.”

Xi Zhao did not retort. He suddenly stretched out his hand and pressed the top of Qin Yun’s head hard, “Even if you have sanitary pads, you must be at the level of diapers.”

“…” Qin Yun’s face was distorted as the top of his hair was messed up by Xi Zhao.

“You can’t be worse than any high-level guide because,” Xi Zhao looked seriously into Qin Yun’s eyes, “I am your sentinel.”

When Tristana rushed to the military headquarters, Moschery had already finished using the practice room, but he opened a small shooting range for Qin Yun to practice. Because it was fully enclosed and soundproof, the person who was focused on practising didn’t know that his immediate superior had arrived.

       “Your Majesty…” Tristana disagreed, “If I read correctly…he’s just a low-level guide?!”

Moschery didn’t deny it, and Tristana frowned with emotion, “Your Majesty, low-level guide has no right to bind any individual sentinel, let alone a god-level like you…”

“Tristana.” Moschery interrupted suddenly. He turned around and faced the female general without a mask for the first time, “Can you suppress my mania?”

Tristana opened her mouth. She had calmed down and said softly, “No, I can’t, Your Majesty. I don’t have the ability.”

“But he can.” Moschery looked at Qin Yun’s back in the shooting range, “He is my guide. I need him.”

Tristana had already left when Qin Yun came out of the shooting range. He was surprised when he saw the appointment letter in Xi Zhao’s hand.

“Our General was here?!” Qin Yun looked at Xi Zhao from top to bottom, “She didn’t do anything to you, right?”

Xi Zhao said disdainfully, “She’s just a guide. What can she do to me?” He copied the appointment letter into Qin Yun’s Smart System.

“Eta secret exploration operation…guide Qin Yun…sentinel…” Qin Yun paused and said in surprise, “Sentinel is you!”

“Why are you so loud?” Xi Zhao looked at him with disgust, “Who else would want you besides me?”

Qin Yun didn’t mind the other party’s attitude at all and said excitedly, “Oh my God! I actually have the opportunity to go on a solo mission with Sentinel!”

Xi Zhao snorted proudly, “You don’t even know who I am…”

Qin Yun: “Or to a classified mission!”

Xi Zhao: “…That’s why I said you should work hard these days.”

Qin Yun: “Do you know how much the bonus is for this kind of mission?!”

       Xi Zhao: “…no”

Qin Yun: “It must be very high! Oh my God! I can finally buy an apartment within the fifth ring road of the Capital!”

       Xi Zhao: “…”

When Tristana floated to Skarter’s mansion like a ghost, the young general thought something terrible had happened.

“Have you been marked?” Skarter poured her a glass of milk, “You look like you just had a bonding heat.”

“It’s worse than that…” Tristana glanced at him half-dead, “Do you know who the guide His Majesty marked is?”

Skarter was a little surprised, “Have you seen His Majesty’s little sweetheart?”

“…” Tristana gritted her teeth, “How dare you hide such a big thing from me?!”

Skarter raised his hands innocently, “I just don’t want Dongliang to know. You know, he’s always prone to worrying about this and that.”

Tristana was so angry that she didn’t want to pay attention to him. Skarter quickly comforted her, “It’s not too late to know now. How about it? What is His Majesty’s orders?”

Tristana hesitated for a while, then sighed and said, “He wants to get that low-level guide involved in the Eta Star operation.”

Skarter finally put away his cynical expression, frowned and said coldly, “Did His Majesty really say that?”

Tristana nodded feebly, holding her chin and muttering to herself, “I don’t know what His Majesty is thinking…”

“What about His Majesty thinks?” Lin Dongliang’s voice suddenly came from outside the door. He was wearing only a pair of pyjamas, barefoot and pinching the bridge of his nose in a somewhat sleep-deprived manner, “What are you guys talking about?”

Tristana’s mouth opened in horror, and she looked at Skarter, “Since when did you two live together?!”

“…” Lin Dongliang entered too hastily, and then he realised that his appearance was actually a bit ambiguous. When he was about to explain in embarrassment, Skarter had already picked him up first.

“Why don’t you wear slippers, Sir?” Skarter hugged Lin Dongliang in his arms. He looked behind Lin Dongliang and asked gently, “Where’s your little panda? It’s been a long time, I really want to hug it.”

Lin Dongliang: “… Your King Crocodile1it was actually a Sarcosuchus, but I think crocodile is good too always forces it to sit in your mouth… Do you think it dares to come out?”

For the next month, Qin Yun felt like he was in Nirvana. He was tortured by Xi Zhao in the training room from morning to night, crying and howling. He was so tired that he could fall asleep even after lunch with Sennas.

“…” Sennas reminded him in a low voice, “Your saliva is drooling.”

Qin Yun woke up with a gasp. He touched his chin in a daze, “Is there anything else?”

Sennas: “What are you working for so hard every day?”

Qin Yun held his head in pain, “It’s not easy to buy a house within the fifth ring road…”

Sennas said carelessly, “What’s the point of doing it until you are so tired? Might as well sell your kidney.”

Qin Yun muttered, “Selling a kidney is useless…I am simply selling my life!”

“Speaking of which.” Sennas frowned and sniffed hard, “The smell of mental marks on your body is getting stronger and stronger. Are you still in contact with that sentinel?”

“That…” Qin Yun felt guilty, “I am his younger brother now…”

Sennas: “…Other guides became a wife, but you just become a younger brother… Where is your dignity?! Even sanitary pads have dignity, okay?!”

       Qin Yun: “…”

“Dignity?” Xi Zhao cut off the head of the Silver Ring King Snake with a knife, “Are you talking to me about dignity?”

Qin Yun tried hard to defend, “I also have human rights! Look, I don’t have a spiritual link. You all know this. Where is your spiritual link? Since you let me give you mental guiding, why don’t you show me your spiritual link?”

Xi Zhao looked at him with a strange expression, “Do you want to see my spiritual link?”

Qin Yun: “This is the most basic form of mutual honesty, isn’t it…”

Xi Zhao stopped talking. He killed the last few Silver Ring King Snakes in the practice room. He seemed to have made a lot of determination and said with a face that looked like he was going to die, “I’ll show you my spiritual link.”

       Qin Yun nodded excitedly.

Xi Zhao wanted to say something else, but seeing Qin Yun’s expectant and stupid face, he finally just moved his mouth and muttered, ‘Forget it’.

Qin Yun didn’t react when he was urged to get on the aircraft. He opened the door and protested, “Don’t fool me into getting on the aircraft and then throw me down in the middle! I won’t be fooled!”

Xi Zhao clicked his tongue impatiently, “Shut up! Get in! Otherwise, I will throw you away now!”

Qin Yun: “…If we’re going, let’s go. Where to?”

Xi Zhao’s expression froze. He turned his face awkwardly and said stiffly, “Cyprus Galaxy.”

       “…”

Qin Yun: “Why do you have to go to a lovers’ sanctuary to see a spiritual link?!”

Xi Zhao said with a dark face and gritted his teeth, “My spiritual link likes it! Do you have a problem with that?!!”

       Qin Yun: “…”

Chapter 6 – The Capital (3)

After Qin Yun took a shower, he looked at his back in the bathroom mirror for a long time. As Shen Zhuofan said, although the area of the mental mark was large, the colour was too light, and even after looking at it for a long time, he couldn’t see what it was.

“But this is a bit too big.” Qin Yun muttered. He gestured and found that the size almost occupied the entire back. He reluctantly looked closer for a long time, “It seems… there are wings?”

Eagle? Qin Yun thought about it and put on a loose T-shirt. As he wiped the water from his hair, he passed by the living room and suddenly saw a figure from the corner of his eye.

Qin Yun’s hand holding the towel froze on his head.

Xi Zhao frowned impatiently, “Are you a woman? You take so long to take a bath.”

Qin Yun: “…” Who is this guy? Damn it! Is he really someone great?!

When Qin Yun returned to the bedroom after brushing his teeth, Xi Zhao had already claimed the only bed, holding an ‘antique’ phone while reading a novel. Qin Yun was almost blinded by the oversized rhinestone KITTY cat on the mobile phone case.

“…” He took a deep breath and pulled the quilt, “I’m going to sleep.”

Xi Zhao stared at the phone screen without raising his head, “Sleep.”

Qin Yun desperately told himself not to argue with a lunatic, and said patiently, “How am I supposed to sleep like this?”

Xi Zhao finally gave him a look, “Lie down yourself, do I have to carry you to bed?”

       Qin Yun: “…”

Xi Zhao sneered, “Don’t be angry, little girl.”

Qin Yun’s bed was not big, and it was a bit crowded when two men were lying side by side. There was no other way, so Qin Yun could only sleep on his side with his back to Xi Zhao.

While he was in a daze, Xi Zhao’s pheromones suddenly spread vaguely. Because the mental mark was established, Qin Yun subconsciously reached out for the guiding tendrils and skillfully reached into the other party’s consciousness cloud.

The more powerful the sentinel was, the more able they were to transform the cloud of consciousness into a mirage of reality. Because the spiritual connection was not established last time, Qin Yun never really entered there.

In the vast desert land, there was a huge black creature coiled on the huge sand dunes in the distance. Qin Yun glanced at the ‘blue dome’ above his head and confirmed that he was in Xi Zhao’s consciousness realm.

“What is that?” Qin Yun said to himself.

But Xi Zhao seemed to be asleep and no one would answer him.

At this moment, the sentinel’s consciousness realm was gentle and peaceful, but he could still see the traces of the barren land that once filled his eyes. Qin Yun knew that it was the after-effect of the mania episode. He looks around, and the guiding tendrils move along with him, but his attention is irresistibly drawn to the dark and unidentified giant creature on top of the sand dune.

…It seems like something shiny fell on its back?

Qin Yun squinted his eyes for a long time, and a strange expression slowly appeared on his face.

       HELLO KITTY’s…rhinestone phone case?!

Qin Yun was awakened by the sudden heat. He turned over at some point and huddled in Xi Zhao’s arms. With a slight movement, the other party also woke up.

The direct result of excessive use of mental guiding throughout the night was that Qin Yun couldn’t even move a finger now. He can only let Xi Zhao pinch the back of his neck and force his head to rise.

Qin Yun: “…I hafen brus mah teet yeh (I haven’t brushed my teeth yet)”

Xi Zhao’s kissing movement paused, and he clamped the other person’s chin with some bad temper, “At this time, just open your mouth obediently, don’t talk nonsense.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

After being forced to establish a mental mark for a long time, Xi Zhao finally let him go. Sentinel’s pheromone was simply a double-edged sword for the guide. Before the mark was established, it was an aphrodisiac, and after the mark was established, it became a super herbal tonic.

Qin Yun felt so comfortable after being kissed that he lay on the bed and refused to get up. He thought about the pheromone just now, and his brain finally became clearer. He didn’t understand why Xi Zhao marked him.

“Are you a high-level sentinel?” Qin Yun asked cautiously, “S-level?”

Xi Zhao glanced at him and bent down to put on his military boots.

Qin Yun refused to give up, “Averio Academy didn’t introduce anyone to you? There should be many guides willing to be marked by you, right?”

Xi Zhao’s expression didn’t look good, “You don’t want to be marked by me?”

“How is that possible?” Qin Yun widened his eyes and joked. For the guide, the strength of the sentinel determines the status of the military and politics. Even the guide who was very powerful still needed the pheromones of the sentinel to soothe the consequences of excessive use of mental power. Just like sentinel’s mania could only be controlled by a guide, the two were inseparable from each other.

“Thought so.” Xi Zhao sneered. He put on his shoes, stood up and looked at the other party condescendingly, “What qualifications do sanitary pads have to be picky?”

Qin Yun: “…” Damn it, who the hell was it that used the ‘sanitary pads’ so well last night?! I haven’t even complained about you being too much, and now you’re complaining that I’m too cheap?!

His military leave had expired, so Qin Yun started packing his luggage in the afternoon. Xi Zhao had nothing to do, but he didn’t help either. He watched and played with his incomparably gorgeous ‘antique’ mobile phone case.

“Don’t you need to go back to the military headquarters?” Qin Yun picked out a few handy ornaments and put them in his bag, “By the way, do you have a position in the military headquarters?”

Xi Zhao had a ‘it’s higher than yours anyway’ face.

Qin Yun couldn’t stand him, “Don’t you have anything else to do…”

Xi Zhao thought for a while, “I haven’t read today’s news yet.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

The Empire’s news network circulated important news every day, and when Qin Yun opened it, he happened to see the war on Eta Star.

As the third fortress of the Olympus planet, Eta Star was mainly stationed by a kind of highly intelligent bird-like people. There were not many of them, and they were only males. They had a very high mental power but not strong combat effectiveness.

Olympus nominally provided them with military equipment, but even the Empire didn’t know what they were doing privately.

“The population of Olympus is only one-fifth of the Empire, but the number of guides is twice that of ours…” Qin Yun frowned, “They are not even willing to send high-level guides to small places like G Planet. …”

“God-level guide project.” Xi Zhao looked at Qin Yun, “Olympus claims that they have the gene fragment of the god-level guide.”

Qin Yun was stunned, scratching his head, “This… telling me such a confidential matter…”

Xi Zhao sneered coldly, “Do you believe it?”

Qin Yun said seriously, “Since they said so, they must have something to make them that confident.”

Xi Zhao snorted, “I… no one can change the fact that the emperor will die alone.”

“…” Qin Yun, “It’s not that absolute, right? Even if one can’t find a guide… being together with someone one loves is always a possibility.”

“Together with the person you love?” Xi Zhao smiled sarcastically, “And then? One unable to control mania, the other deeply embroiled in political struggles, forced to harm, forced to separate, unable to protect even the beloved?”

Qin Yun’s mouth was half open, speechless.

Xi Zhao looked at him expressionlessly, “If that’s how one loves, then I would rather not have it.”

When Tristana was re-tending the lawn in her garden, she received the news that the S-level weapons warehouse in the military department had been opened. She thought it was Skarter, but was shocked when she saw the other party’s smart scanning card.

“Why is Your Majesty here at the military headquarters?!” Tristana quickly changed her clothes while contacting Skarter, “Didn’t he just change his sword a few days ago!”

Skarter was very calm, “Did you forget that he killed 500 sentinels on Planet G? Maybe the sword was broken.”

Tristana: “…Do you think the dragon scales are just pieces of tofu?!” As soon as she finished speaking, the password on her wrist rang twice more, “Wait! …The S-level battlefield simulation training room is also open?!”

Skarter was silent for a while and said sympathetically, “I sincerely hope the practice room will still be working when you arrive, General.”

       Tristana: “…”

Qin Yun had never been to an S-level weapons warehouse or practice room. He watched as Xi Zhao effortlessly swiped his face (…) and sensed the sinister malice of the level difference.

“Don’t you have a sword?” Qin Yun looked at Xi Zhao and picked out a pair of daggers, “Why do you need to change them?”

Xi Zhao stuffed one of the daggers into his boots and said calmly, “Can you afford to pay for the damage to the practice room?”

Qin Yun was shocked, “Of course I can’t afford it!”

       Xi Zhao: “That’s fine.”

       Qin Yun: “??”

Xi Zhao: “Go and pick one too.”

Qin Yun chose a bow and arrows in a daze. He glanced at the quiver1A quiver is a container for holding arrows or bolts. It can be carried on an archer’s body, the bow, or the ground, depending on the type of shooting and the archer’s personal preference next to him and hesitated for a moment before taking it.

Xi Zhao didn’t ask why. The moment the door to the training room opened, he lifted Qin Yun onto his shoulders.

“I don’t want this position, aaaaaaaaa!” Qin Yun grabbed the other person’s coat and screamed.

Xi Zhao turned a deaf ear to Qin Yun’s scream and quickly leapt to the high ground. The military training room was highly realistic, faithfully replicating the authenticity of the battlefield. The digitally simulated monsters could actually kill people.

Qin Yun was almost scared to death when he saw the first Flame Crocodile coming out. Born and raised as a rare native of D Star, where the Empire spent the longest time, with countless high-level guides and sentinels, even His Majesty Moschery, who had just ascended the throne, had to personally lead the expedition to conquer this troublesome territory. Everyone knew about the fighting prowess of the Flame Crocodile. The most disgusting part is that such a huge creature actually has intelligence. Indeed, a big brain does not grow for nothing!

“What level did you choose?!” Qin Yun no longer had time to worry about the pain in his stomach, “One, two, three, four… four?! What the hell are you going to do with four of them?!!”

“Are you here to count?” Xi Zhao said sarcastically. He threw out a dagger and inserted it into the neck of the nearest Flame Crocodile, and then jumped onto the crocodile’s back with the handle of the knife.

The thick tail swept towards the two of them sideways, Qin Yun was thrown up violently, Xi Zhao pulled out another dagger and stabbed the Flame Crocodile cleanly between the eyes.

Qin Yun: “…This is the second time you have thrown me into the sky like a gymnastic ball.”

Xi Zhao pulled out two daggers, wiped the blood on his trouser legs, and said indifferently, “Don’t worry, there will be a third time.”

Chapter 5 – The Capital (2)

Moschery relaxed his body and leaned back on the chair. He listened absent-mindedly to the emotional speech of the Olympian envoy, “Oh! Poor Thune! He was left on the battlefield like that! Your Majesty! This is illegal! Your Majesty!”

“Yes.” Moschery said with a sincere expression, “I also deeply regret this.”

The Minister of Public Relations probably didn’t expect that His Majesty the Emperor would be so shameless. He hesitated for a moment, not entirely willing, and said, “Your Majesty, I heard you just returned from G Star…”

“Ah, that’s right.” Moschery nodded, “Everyone must have noticed that I also made a mental mark, however.” He looked at the antelope spiritual link guide and smiled sarcastically, “Not that it has anything to do with him.”

The publicist’s eyes widened comically, and he looked at Thune with some disbelief. The latter lowered his head sluggishly and seemed to have no reaction to the outside world.

In fact, he was not the only one. Paulie had been blushing ever since Moschery had come in. Although they could see that she was trying her best to restrain herself, her spiritual link, the proud white peac0ck, had already eagerly raised its wings and was pacing back and forth, its tail stretched out in gorgeous, brilliant screen feathers.

“She must regret not hiding the spiritual link now.” Tristana whispered to Lin Dongliang, and she gloated, “Without experiencing god-level suppression, one wouldn’t understand. Fortunately, His Majesty has already placed a mental mark. Otherwise, she would definitely be begging on her knees.”

Lin Dongliang shrugged, “Didn’t you see that Mrs. Berlin’s mouth twisted in frustration?”

Although Mrs. Berlin was an ordinary person, anyone with eyes could see Paulie’s condition. Mrs. Berlin’s complexion was hard to describe as anything but unpleasant. However, as an Iron Lady who had been in power for more than 40 years, she naturally maintained her composure.

“Your Majesty.” Mrs. Berlin said slowly, “For your safety, the guide you marked must be reviewed and registered by Averio Academy.”

Moschery agreed, “I think so too.”

“…” Berlin probably didn’t expect that he would be so cooperative, “Then please tell me his name.”

The emperor opened his eyes and told lies, “I don’t know, are you not going to look for it yourself?”

       Mrs. Berlin: “…”

“Wait, wait a minute, Your Majesty!” The envoy from Olympus exclaimed excitedly, “We possess the genes of god-level guides. Lord Helu once promised when he was alive…”

“You seem to have forgotten something, Sir.” Moschery’s calm voice interrupted, and a cold, mechanical sheen gleamed on his masked face, “I am the Emperor, and ‘he’ is not yours. Don’t attempt to control me with this useless method as you did with Helu.”

“…” The Minister of Public Relations swallowed in fear.

Moschery smiled, “You must have heard some rumours about me.”

“No, I should say those weren’t rumours, I admit it.” The emperor looked at the pale Mrs. Berlin and said delightfully, “I am indeed a tyrant.”

Shen Zhuofan opened a pet cat shelter in the bustling downtown area of the capital, and Qin Yun was considered some sort of the second owner. Whenever the troops were taking a break, he would help.

“You are too slow.” Shen Zhuofan complained. Both of them were graduates of Averio Academy. However, for some reason, Shen Zhuofan did not join the army or work in the government. Instead, he hid his ability as a guide and worked peacefully as a small business owner, “Go wash Sweetheart, Darling, and Baby. The three of them can toss and turn too much.”

Sweetheart was the Maine Coon that was very dependent on Qin Yun. It was very beautiful with its huge body and fluffy long hair.

“Come home with me, Sweetheart.” Qin Yun squatted down and scratched the cat’s chin. The Maine Coon cat squinted its eyes and raised its neck in comfort, purring from its throat.

Shen Zhuofan, “Whether you take it home or not, won’t I still be the one taking care of it? You’re hardly at home for more than a few days a year.”

Qin Yun smiled and did not deny it. He fumbled around for a while, took out a box from his pocket and handed it over, “This is two months’ worth of stabiliser. Your situation is special; this kind of thing is more difficult to get, so use it sparingly, okay?”

Shen Zhuofan pursed his lips. The stabiliser he wanted was very special. Since Qin Yun was a low-level guide, he would definitely not be able to get it.

“Alright, don’t put on that guilty expression like you’re contemplating immediate death.” Qin Yun punched his chest, “I volunteered to go to the military. Even without you, I would still go to the frontline, so there’s no need to feel sorry for me.”

Shen Zhuofan sighed. He was silent for a while and finally just opened his arms and hugged Qin Yun into his arms, “Welcome back, brother.”

“I’m back.” Qin Yun replied with a smile.

Mrs. Berlin stood in the middle of the corridor, her back straight and her expression solemn and serious. Moschery seemed unsurprised that she would stand in his way.

“Your Majesty.” Mrs. Berlin nodded gently, “Are you going to rest?”

“Yes, Madam.” Moschery’s eyes fell on Paulie, who was following her, and smiled with an unknown meaning, “It seems that you are getting older and have forgotten what happened to the ones you sent before?”

“Paulie is different.” Mrs. Berlin said confidently, “She is the best.”

       Moschery raised his eyebrows, “Really?”

Upon hearing the Emperor’s question, Paulie took a deep breath. She forced herself to lift her head, attempting to extend guiding tendrils towards the other party. Moschery showed no intention of avoiding her, but the girl’s tendrils stopped just a centimetre away from him.

Mrs. Berlin, unable to see what was happening, called out with a worried frown, “Paulie?”

The girl’s eyes were dull, staring motionlessly at the emperor’s face.

“Paulie!” Berlin sounded aggravated. She wanted to step forward and pull the other person’s arm but was stopped by Skarter.

The general’s smile was gentle, but the smile did not reach his eyes, “You’d better call the doctor over, and… if you don’t want her brain to be completely damaged, please don’t touch her.”

Mrs. Berlin jerked her hand away as if she was frightened. She looked around in horror, and somewhere she couldn’t see, Paulie’s guiding tendrils broke into pieces of feathers and slowly drifted down to Moschery’s feet.

Lin Dongliang was in the study room, lowering his head while reviewing documents. Suddenly, his neck felt warm, and Skarter mischievously blew a breath in his ear, “Your Excellency Secretary of State, you are really charming.”

“…” Lin Dongliang moved his neck a little and said helplessly, “You didn’t even come through the main entrance… Is there something urgent?”

“Of course, it’s something that can’t be more urgent.” Skarter said seriously, “Sir, when can you complete the final mark with me?”

       Lin Dongliang: “…”

Tristana: “…Hey, can you stop ignoring me when you two are flirting?!”

Lin Dongliang rubbed his forehead with a headache and cut to the chase, “Has Mrs. Berlin been sent away?”

“Could she not be sent away? The guide she brought almost had a mental breakdown because she wanted to guide His Majesty…” Skarter thought about it and felt that the other party was also quite daring, “What a commendable courage.”

       Tristana snorted: “Serves you right!”

Lin Dongliang was not optimistic, “The last stabiliser His Majesty used became ineffective half a year ago… Although a god-level sentinel can exert stronger suppression on mania, once the mental backlash occurs, the consequences will be disastrous.” He looked at Skarter, “Has His Majesty been acting out of character lately?”

“Well, if the 500 sentinels he killed on G-Star counts.” Skarter shrugged.

Tristana suddenly clapped her hands, “By the way! Didn’t His Majesty make a spiritual mark? Do you know who that guide is?!”

Skarter was stunned. He remembered the words ‘low-level guide’ he saw that day. He was silent for a while and said slowly, “I’m not sure.”

Lin Dongliang glanced at him suspiciously but did not reveal the truth. He thought for a while and said carefully, “Since His Majesty doesn’t want to say anything, then there must be his reasons, and we have no right to interfere.”

“Hey!” Tristana leaned back and fell on the sofa. She stared blankly at the ceiling and muttered regretfully, “Is His Majesty destined to die alone…”

Skarter: “He seems to have said that himself.”

Tristana: “…The right hand will definitely be useless, right?”

       Lin Dongliang: “…”

After Qin Yun washed the cats, he went to the kitchen to cook a meal. Several cats took turns rubbing his trouser legs and meowing underneath. When Shen Zhuofan came in, he saw Qin Yun frowning and rubbing his neck.

“What’s wrong?” Shen Zhuofan tasted the vinegar-steamed fish and said, “Did Sweetheart jump to your neck?”

“No… My head hurts a bit.” Qin Yun took a pair of chopsticks and asked, “How does it taste?”

Shen Zhuofan paused in his meat-picking action. He took a closer look at Qin Yun, pretended to be nonchalant, and said, “Spiritual marks sometimes behave like this. Sentinel’s mood swings will affect the guide’s consciousness.”

Qin Yun didn’t expect Shen Zhuofan to say it so straightforwardly, and he didn’t know how to answer for a while.

Shen Zhuofan patted his back, “It’s best not to take off your clothes when there are many people. The mental marks left by your sentinel are too big.”

“It turns out it’s behind… No wonder I can’t find it.” Qin Yun muttered and wanted to look behind him, “What’s it like?… That guy refused to release the spiritual link even to the end. He’s so petty!”

Shen Zhuofan glanced at it several times and said impatiently, “It’s too faint to tell… It looks like a pig?”

       Qin Yun: “…”

His Majesty the Emperor’s spiritual link, who had been treated like a pig, was currently fighting against the urge to wake up after a nap. Since the last stabiliser became ineffective half a year ago, he had completely become a time bomb. If it were not for being guided by Qin Yun on G-Star in the cloud of consciousness once before, he wouldn’t have been able to hold it together this morning alone.

“Okay, I know you want to find him.” Moschery pressed his forehead, and two veins faintly popped out, “Don’t argue. Shut up!”

       “…”

Moschery gasped and was silent for a moment, “No, he’ll die.”

       “…”

Moschery said angrily, “Alright, alright! I’ll go find him! Stop crying, damn it!” He cursed and started to get dressed, then walked to a pile of shiny ‘antiques’ in the corner and said with a cold face, ” You are only allowed to bring one thing. Take your pick.”

       “…”

Moschery’s expression was completely distorted, “What’s wrong with you getting such a big HOLLO KITTY rhinestone mobile phone case?!”

Chapter 4 – The Capital (1)

       —Imperial Starship.—

Skarter, the youngest general in the empire, was crossing his legs, watching the emperor change back into his commander’s uniform.

“Fortunately, I had the foresight to bring a new mask.” Skarter said proudly, “Since the Cabinet found out about your unauthorized actions, the Prime Minister’s tea set at home probably needs to be replaced with a brand new one.”

Moschery’s attitude was always noncommittal. The old butler Ba Jin, carefully held up the hem of the red cloak. Skarter bowed gracefully. He held a corner of the other man’s cloak, lowered his head and kissed it gently, “Welcome back, Your Majesty.”

The golden mask was engraved with exquisite dragon-shaped patterns, covering the left half of Moschery’s eye. He lowered his head and looked at Skarter quietly, “What is Berlin trying to pull again?”

“Ah, you have to understand. After all, the Cabinet’s top priority is to get whichever of the 60% high-level guides in hand to your bed, but…” Skarter sniffed and said somewhat gloatingly, “But it looks like they’re going to be disappointed… By the way, what about that little sweetheart you marked? Why didn’t you bring them along?”

Moschery frowned calmly, “It’s just the most basic mental mark. It will be automatically lifted after half a month, not to mention he is not a sweetheart anyway.”

Skarter had an ‘Are you kidding me?!’ look on her face.

“Honestly.” Moschery sized him up critically, “That man is about the same height as you, General.”

       Skarter: “…”

After the spacecraft entered the established orbit, there was no longer a need for manual operation. Moschery sat in the command centre in the commander’s chair, propping up his head, browsing web pages on the smart tablet in front of him.

Skarter had a headache when he saw him take out the smart tablet with the back covered with sparkling rhinestones. He really couldn’t figure out why His Majesty the Emperor was so obsessed with this kind of antique that was popular on Earth in the 21st century…

“Can’t you just look at the screen?” Skarter suggested tactfully, “No need to hold it. You can still see clearly… Huh? It’s really rare that you would actually be interested in a guide?”

Most of the guide’s military materials were classified as confidential. Although Moschery’s authority was completely unhindered, he was not willing to be manipulated by others. Fortunately, Qin Yun was only a low-level guide.

“Hey, is this your little sweetheart?” Skarter glanced at the information page. Qin Yun’s personal description could be said to be very detailed, from height and weight to skills, and the photos were even 3D high-definition full body pictures, “Spiritual link …None?! Are you kidding me?!”

       Moschery frowned, “Shut up.”

“Don’t tell people to shut up just because you’re upset!” Skarter protested, “Are you going to kill this guy?! Ha! Mental mark?! Has he gone insane??”

Skarter paused, and he confirmed again with some disbelief, “He hasn’t gone insane…?”

Moschery looked at him like he was an idiot.

Skarter was embarrassed, “Okay, I’m just confirming… After all, this is an issue related to the military guide… Okay! Don’t look at me like that! Do you know how many times I’ve wiped your arse for you?!”

“Oh?” Moschery held his chin up as he finally seemed to get some interest, “Tell me about it.”

“…” Skarter surrendered, “Okay, let’s get down to business… You have to know that Olympus submitted a complaint to our cabinet just half an hour ago.” He looked at the young emperor with a serious expression, ” One of their high-level guides was forced to a bonding heat on the battlefield, and the ‘compatible’ sentinel failed to fulfil his responsibility.”

“Responsibility?” Moschery sneered, “It’s none of my business if he can’t control the pheromones himself.”

“Stop joking. Are you really going to say ‘none of my business’ to them?” Skarter rolled his eyes, “It is no longer the law of the earth hundreds of years ago. The ‘Universal Guide Protection Law’ stipulates that once the guide produced bonding heat on the pheromones of a ‘single’ sentinel, then the ‘single’ sentinel must mark the guide that generated bonding heat.”

Skarter’s expression was sacred as he said, “This is called: Since I’ve seduced you, you must aggressively dominate me.”

       Moschery: “…”

Tristana’s drool ran down her neck when she was forcibly dragged out of bed early in the morning. The honour guard airship representing the Secretary of State almost destroyed the turf in her yard.

Lin Dongliang touched his nose apologetically, “…Next time, report to His Majesty. Plant whatever you want; it’s completely fine.”

Tristana looked at him with hatred on her face, “I haven’t even put on any make-up, though?!” The female general pointed at her hair angrily, “Are you sure you want me to fight with this look?!”

“I think it’s pretty good.” Lin Dongliang said sincerely, “It’s very impactful.”

       Tristana: “…”

The two of them could see the Cabinet’s flag in the distance before they arrived at the palace. Tristana crossed her long legs on the dashboard and clicked her tongue impatiently, “Only at times like this that old women run fast. I really hope when we got in, she and Olympus were already done tearing each other apart.”

Lin Dongliang smiled, “To a certain extent, Mrs. Berlin’s purpose actually coincides with Olympus.”

Tristana made a face. Before she got off the airship, she suddenly remembered something and said in panic, “Crap… I almost forgot, did you bring a stabiliser?!”

Lin Dongliang silently took out two tubes of injections.

Tristana breathed a sigh of relief. She finished the injection quickly and looked at the Secretary of State with some suspicion, “You don’t need it? Your Majesty’s pheromones are no joke.”

Lin Dongliang’s expression stiffened for a second, and then he coughed awkwardly, “I…well, I had injected before.”

Tristana frowned and covered her nose, “Really…but why do I always feel like you smell like a cold-blooded animal…”

       Lin Dongliang: “…”

Compared to Tristana’s casualness, Mrs. Berlin’s attire could be said to be meticulous. Next to her sat a young girl with blond hair and blue eyes. Her spiritual link was a proud white peac0ck squatting quietly on the owner’s shoulder.

“Paulie?” Tristana was a little surprised.

Lin Dongliang: “Do you know her?”

Tristana nodded: “The chief of Averio Guide Academy, S-level rating in the high-level guide. The Guide Military Department has been trying to win over her for a long time, but.” Tristana’s eyes turned cold, “Her ambition seems to be a little bigger.”

“She obviously has the ability to hide her spiritual link, but she doesn’t hold back.” Lin Dongliang sighed helplessly, “Her peac0ck can’t wait to open its tail.”

Tristana didn’t speak, but her expression had already given the answer. Mrs. Berlin seemed to be talking to the Olympus envoy about something, and it took a long time before she paid some attention.

“General Lane.” Mrs. Berlin nodded. The deep lines of authority on her already stern face add a touch of seriousness. Her eyes glanced at Tristana contemptuously, “It seems you got up in a hurry that you forgot to wash your face.”

Tristana replied with a smile like a flower, “You seem to have forgotten to take off your makeup before going to bed. This is not good; you will get old quickly.”

       Mrs. Berlin: “…”

Lin Dongliang was not familiar with the publicist sent by Olympus this time, but the guide who followed him… At first glance, it looked like he had just gone through the terrible torture of bonding heat.

Because the late Emperor Helu was weak and incompetent, Olympus openly formed a federation in the early days of his reign. The earlier ‘Black Rose’ incident revealed Olympus’s ever-increasing ambitions.

Olympus calls itself—’The Land of the Gods’.

“Tristana is already here.” Skarter followed Moschery. The young emperor took off his cloak and threw it to his butler as he walked, “With her here, Olympus doesn’t dare to be too arrogant.”

“But Berlin is here too.” Moschery said coldly, “Hmph…she has been a professional pimp for 100 years. Don’t you think I should give her an award?”

Skarter pursed his lips and muttered, “At least our Secretary of State is here too… Two to two, if we really fight, we won’t lose.”

“Lin Dongliang?” Moschery frowned, “What’s he doing here, trying to join in the fun?”

“Oh, don’t worry, Your Majesty.” Skarter was very proud, “We made a small spiritual mark before… You should understand that the relationship between me and the Secretary of State has always been very good.”

Of course, Moschery knew the relationship between his left and right hands. He was too lazy to answer Skarter’s criticism and directly raised his chin to the guard officer standing outside the conference room.

       “Open the door.”

Qin Yun was brushing his teeth in the bathroom when his System automatically popped up the holographic image. The person on the other side of the screen didn’t mind whether he was listening or not and said to himself, “Do you have time off? If you do, come and help… Oh no, don’t move!”

A huge fur ball jumped in front of the image and raised its tail.

“Sweetheart!” Shen Zhuofan roared, “Get down here!”

Qin Yun wiped the water droplets from his face and greeted Shen Zhuofan shirtless, “Good morning.”

Shen Zhuofan had no time to pay attention. He was pulling a dark brown Maine Coon cat, trying to get it off the communication device.

“Okay sweetheart.” Qin Yun smiled, “I’ll go see you later.”

The Maine Coon cat called Sweetheart meowed and obediently put away its paws.

“Damn…” Shen Zhuofan said depressedly, “Who the hell usually raises him? The thing that eats inside and outside!”

Qin Yun didn’t answer. He turned his back to find his shirt. Shen Zhuofan glanced at the other person’s back and suddenly froze in place, “You…”

“What?” Qin Yun put on a vest. He lowered his head to find something and muttered, “Where is my coat…”

Shen Zhuofan’s expression was gloomy and uncertain. He stared at Qin Yun’s shoulder blades, opened his mouth several times, and said with some difficulty, “You this time…”

“What’s wrong?” Qin Yun had already put on his coat and turned around. He turned the collar outward and said in a relaxed tone, “What do you want to eat? I’ll bring it to you.”

“…” Shen Zhuofan took a deep breath and muttered, “Forget it…”

       Qin Yun: “??”

Shen Zhuofan: “I want to eat golden sea rabbit stew.”

Qin Yun: “…Are you going to bankrupt me, you bastard?!”

Chapter 3 – G Star (3)

“…What should I do with this person?” Although Qin Yun has never encountered this before, he also understands how painful this situation is for the guide, “Can’t you deal with it? He’ll get burnt out if he goes on like this…”

The man stared at him with an expression of ‘Are you stupid?’

Was this man’s brain damaged from the crash? Hasn’t he learned the ‘Universal Guide Protection Law’?!

“…” Qin Yun felt embarrassed halfway through and suddenly reacted, “Don’t you have a dedicated guide?!”

The other party’s expression froze as if a sore spot had been poked, and there was a hint of impatience in his stiff tone, “No.”

“Thought so…” Qin Yun muttered. Once a Sentinel had a dedicated guide, how could it be possible for them to act alone? They would have to be completely bound all day, 24 hours a day.

The antelope-type high-level guide was completely burnt out, and his spiritual link was not much better, with eyes filled with confusion and uneasiness.

The ‘Universal Guide Protection Law’ was shared by the entire galaxy. Of course, Qin Yun couldn’t just watch the other party being tossed silly, but naturally, there were no suppressants in his low-level guide’s medical bag.

“Do you have a stabilizer with you?” Qin Yun rummaged through the pile of ruins in the driver’s seat, “Don’t you have a dedicated guide… How can you go to the battlefield without some stabilizer?”

The Sentinel took a long time before lazily ‘hmph’ and said, “There is a box under the seat.”

“You should have said so earlier.” Qin Yun complained. He lowered his head for a long time before pulling out a half-damaged freezer case with several labels on it. Among them, a broken stabilizer had a name written on it, “Blah blah blah… Xizhao… blah blah…”

“Xi Zhao?” Qin Yun climbed up from the ruins holding the box. He shook the syringe fragment in his hand towards the sentinel, “Your name is Xi Zhao? What’s your full name?”

The sentinel, who was called Xi Zhao, gave him a cold look.

Qin Yun shrugged his shoulder. He put on an expression that said, ‘Okay, I won’t force you’. He quickly prepared four tubes of stabilizer and timed the injections into the enemy guide’s veins with precision.

The other party’s body temperature was gradually dropping, exhausting all the high-level guide energy, and the person fell asleep soon after.

“Alright.” Qin Yun finally breathed a sigh of relief. He laid the person down on the spot and did not intend to take him away. Although it was possible to capture or injure a guide on the battlefield, all parties generally cherished the high-level guide, so Qin Yun was not worried at all that the other party’s life would be in danger. This had become the default rule on the battlefield.

“Let’s go back to the logistics.” Qin Yun suggested while sorting out the medical bag, “El… Major General El shouldn’t be in direct conflict with the other side. The rescue from the logistics side should be faster…” Having said this, he paused, then asked somewhat uncertainly, “Are you…the reinforcement?”

Xi Zhao didn’t answer. He looked into the distance, suddenly grabbed Qin Yun’s collar, pressed his head and stretched forward, “Give me the direction. Where are those 500 sentinels.”

Qin Yun’s neck almost broke, grabbed by him. He subconsciously stretched out his guiding tendrils as per the other party’s order, “A-at 12 o’clock… what are you going to do?!”

Qin Yun yelled and grabbed Xi Zhao’s back tightly, and the sentinel actually carried him on his shoulders.

“You had the wrong idea.” Xi Zhao freed up a hand and casually wiped the blood on half of his face. Only then did Qin Yun see the other person’s left eye clearly.

The golden eyes were set on the dark red sclera like fake ones, and Qin Yun watched in awe as his pupil slowly stood up into a thin line.

“I’m not here as reinforcement.” Xi Zhao looked at Qin Yun calmly with his normal black eyes, “I’m here to fight.”

“I don’t want it! I will die!” Qin Yun’s whole body was completely hung upside down on Xi Zhao’s shoulders. His stomach hurt so much that he almost burst into tears, “You psychopath aaaaa—– !!!”

The next second, he was thrown into the sky with great force. Xi Zhao pulled out a nearly two-meter black giant sword from nowhere and chopped off the heads of the two sentinels in front of him.

“I! Am! Gonna! Fall! Dow—oof!” Xi Zhao grabbed the medical bag strap from mid-air. Qin Yun had the illusion that his lungs were strangled…

“Argh…psycho…” Qin Yun gritted his teeth intermittently, “I’m gonna curse you…”

Qin Yun wisely shut up…but it wasn’t long before he couldn’t help it anymore.

“You can’t do this… You’re completely losing control of your emotions, and your consciousness is so messed up.” He glanced at the other person’s expression secretly and tentatively stretched out his guiding tendrils, “I have been professionally treating mania for 20 years… I’m definitely a master at massaging neurons…fvck!!”

Xi Zhao hugged the person tightly at the waist. Behind him were two enemy mid-level sentinels, one with a giant python spiritual link, and its attack speed was frighteningly fast.

“Calm down! Calm down!” Qin Yun felt that his waist was about to be broken. He did not hesitate to put his guiding tendrils into Xi Zhao’s consciousness cloud, trying to appease the other party’s rage. Xi Zhao stepped on his feet and turned around. With the sword, the giant python was cut into two pieces in an instant.

“…” Qin Yun laughed dryly, “Ahaha… I have good massage skills, right?”

Xi Zhao’s expression was a little strange. He pursed his lips and quickly dealt with another sentinel who was chasing him. Then he carried Qin Yun in his arms.

“Huh…” Qin Yun was so moved that he almost cried, “This position is good…”

Xi Zhao glanced coldly, and Qin Yun quickly controlled the guiding tendrils to diligently guide the other party’s consciousness cloud.

Unlike any Sentinel he had come into contact with before. Xi Zhao’s consciousness cloud was so powerful that it was unfathomable. Qin Yun had only heard that S-class sentinels and high-level guide could hide their spiritual links freely. He did not expect that he would really encounter one in his life.

Xi Zhao’s consciousness did not reject him. On the contrary, it was unexpectedly gentle. Qin Yun’s tendrils reached the deepest level. Because there were too many places to be guided, his eyes gradually turned golden.

[That’s enough.] Xi Zhao’s voice reached his head [Stop, you’re going to faint.]

“Ha…ha…” Qin Yun violently retracted the tendrils, his field uniform soaked with sweat, and his whole body was shaking so much that he could hardly breathe.

Xi Zhao frowned and ‘tsk’ impatiently. He then reached out and grabbed his chin.

Qin Yun didn’t react for a long time when his mouth was covered.

       The initial spiritual mark.

Xi Zhao’s pheromones gently probed Qin Yun’s consciousness cloud, and the latter’s guiding tendrils slowly stretched out…

“…” Xi Zhao’s face darkened, “I told you it’s enough. Do you want to die?!”

Qin Yun withdrew the guiding tendrils that had penetrated the other party’s consciousness for a long time and complained, “…My guiding is obviously very comfortable. Why should I stop…”

       Xi Zhao: “…”

Qin Yun: “I was wrong, I was wrong! Argh!!!!”

For a low-level guide, being marked, even if it was just a mental mark, was a very novel thing. Qin Yun lowered his head and searched near his collar for a long time. A little discouraged, he said, “Isn’t it said that being marked would leave a spiritual mark? Where is your spiritual mark?”

Xi Zhao wiped his black giant sword, not bothering to explain to him.

Not long after the two of them established their mental marks, the enemy’s 500 sentinels were completely wiped out by Xi Zhao, who was well-nourished. His face almost seemed to be inscribed with the words ‘kill in all directions’, as he did a thorough annihilation.

He put away the giant sword, pulled Qin Yun, who was still chattering and forced him to raise his head.

Qin Yun licked his lips, and it sure tasted like rust, “…It’s all bitten.”

Xi Zhao didn’t speak. He squatted down with his back to Qin Yun and said calmly, “Come up. I will carry you back.”

Qin Yun was not polite either. He lay on Xi Zhao’s back and could see Xi Zhao’s left eye from one side. Although the colour had not changed, the pupil had returned to a round shape.

“Do you really not have a spiritual link?” Qin Yun felt a little regretful, “You are obviously so strong.”

Xi Zhao walked on in silence, but Qin Yun didn’t mind. He said to himself, “But you have a bad temper… Don’t be so irritable all the time. You might end up with a mental illness, you know.”

       Xi Zhao: “…”

Qin Yun: “Woaa—! You are not crazy! I am! I am!! Don’t carry me on your shoulders!!! I’m going to vomit—Oh no!”

In the year 532 of the Galactic Calendar, the Imperial Army successfully occupied G-Star, which represented the Issa royal family’s silent declaration of war against the Olympus Alliance. In the next hundred years, G-Star would become the most important defensive fortress of the Empire, impregnable and unbreakable.

When the huge Empire Starship landed on the swirling hills of G-Star, Qin Yun had already returned to the logistics camp, but as soon as he turned around, he couldn’t find Xi Zhao.

Sennas rushed over with his face full of snot and tears: “Wuwuwu, I thought you were dead! General El searched for you for half a day… You!” Suddenly, Sennas’ face changed as he flew over and sniffed at Qin Yun’s neck, shocked, “You’re marked? Damn! Which son of a bitch did this?!”

Qin Yun: “…It’s just a mental mark, don’t be nervous.”

Sennas didn’t buy it, “Come on! You don’t know how strong this sentinel’s pheromones are!”

       Qin Yun: “…”

The guide’s five senses were not as sensitive as sentinel, but even Sennas could feel it. Qin Yun finally felt that the matter might be more serious than he imagined.

Elberna subconsciously stepped back a meter before she got close to him. His artic fox spiritual link whimpered and drooped his ears, lying on the ground shivering.

Qin Yun raised his hands in embarrassment, “Hey buddy, is it really that bad…?”

Elberna’s expression was not pleasant; it was the instinctive dominance of a stronger individual over a weaker one. Just a hint of pheromones easily marked territory, “Definitely worse than you think… Who did you encounter, exactly?”

Qin Yun scratched the top of his head helplessly and muttered, “I wish I knew who it was…”

The Emperor Starship navigation lights projected from a distance. Qin Yun looked at the swirling hills. Elberna led the soldiers in a uniform military salute. When he put down his hands, he could only faintly see the exhaust of the Emperor Starship in the night sky.

Chapter 2 – G Star (2)

Qin Yun felt that he was too miserable. Born as a low-level guide was one thing, but being beaten up by sentinels instead of being protected was just too much…

Elberna: “…Don’t think that I don’t know that you are cursing me inside…your guiding tendrils are pinching me!”

The arctic fox jumped lightly onto Qin Yun’s shoulder, and its big tail circled around his neck like a scarf. Elberna rubbed his painful temples and glanced at his spiritual link.

“It is very alert to others but not to you.” Elberna scratched the arctic fox’s chin, “You seem to get along well with any sentinel’s spiritual link.”

Qin Yun: “That’s because I have little influence. A spiritual link will only show tension and submission when it senses danger or a spiritual link that is more powerful than itself. I don’t have a spiritual link, so naturally, this situation does not exist.”

Elberna thought that he had a point. He and Qin Yun were rushing to the front line. Sennas went to the northern logistics camp midway. The other guides also followed sentinel to various districts.

“The worst of it should all be at our area.” Elberna quickly assembled a small aircraft. He glanced at Qin Yun, “You’ll have to go alone first. Is that alright?”

Qin Yun raised his eyebrows, “You have to trust me, sir.” After Qin Yun said that, he got into the single driver’s seat.

Elberna waved his hand. He had just been meticulously sorted out by Qin Yun, and all his stats could be said to have reached the maximum. Moreover, with a fox-type natural spiritual link, he could move at a fast pace even without an aircraft.

“Okay…” Qin Yun took a deep breath and put on a protective mask. He calmly encouraged himself, “Jiayou! Qin Yun! More than a hundred psychopaths are waiting for you!”

       Elberna: “…”

Although the creatures on G-Star were low-level amphibians, their large size, thick blood, and tough skin made it necessary to have at least two sentinels to kill one.

When Qin Yun arrived, dozens of sentinels were besieging a giant snake nest. Due to the large number and size, the sentinels’ consciousness was extremely chaotic and scattered. Qin Yun could feel from a distance that several spiritual links were on the verge of going crazy.

“Oh, my God…” Qin Yun opened the skylight of the aircraft and looked down, “That grey wolf has a really hot temper…” He didn’t dare to jump into the battlefield recklessly, so he flew lower, attempting to extend guiding tendrils, and the grey wolf clearly spotted him.

“Good boy, buddy.” Qin Yun’s guiding tendrils slowly touched the wolf’s back to its head, “Help your master bite the tail of that snake… yes, that’s the one!”

The grey wolf’s sentinel raised his head, and Qin Yun recognised him at a glance, “Zhang Jin!”

As fellow Asians, Zhang Jin’s impression of Qin Yun was undoubtedly deep. His emotions had gradually calmed down, and he cut a 30-meter giant python in half with one swift movement. He stood on a huge rock and faced Qin Yun as he opened his arms, “Brother! Jump down!”

Qin Yun jumped out of the c0ckpit without hesitation.

Zhang Jin was shocked when he caught him, “Why are you so heavy?!”

Qin Yun pointed to the medical bag on his back, “This thing weighs 20 kilograms.” He quickly stretched out his tendrils to scan the other party’s consciousness cloud1some sort of their energy storage, frowned and said, “Have you been in continuous combat for over 96 hours now? What about the previous guide?”

“Returned to the logistics a long time ago.” Zhang Jin was a little helpless. His grey wolf was very excited when he saw Qin Yun. He whimpered and hugged the guide’s thigh, “The guides in your group have such poor stamina. Except for you, everyone else is like a little girl.”

Qin Yun said angrily, “I’m sorry, I’m not a little girl.”

Zhang Jin laughed loudly and punched him, “You are our comrade.” He said and gave a beautiful military salute, “Guide Qin! Thank you for your timely support!”

“Enough with the banter.” Qin Yun smiled and kicked him. He quickly treated Zhang Jin’s injuries and gave his grey wolf some mental guiding in between, “I’ll run by myself later; you don’t need to protect me. Kill whoever you want, and strive for a quick victory.”

Zhang Jin was not very reassured, “Is it not too tiring to guide while running? Do you have enough strength?”

Qin Yun, “Don’t worry, there are only a few snakes. I trust your speed.”

Zhang Jin bumped fists with him, “Be careful; don’t use your tendrils if there’s not enough time.” He joked, “Just lick all those big men… you won’t lose out, haha!”

Qin Yun’s answer was to roll his eyes and gesture with his middle finger.

It was not an easy task to navigate through the chaos with a huge medical kit on one’s back. Qin Yun’s guiding tendrils were almost never retracted. If visualized, it would be like continuously slapping people in turns…

Many sentinels knew him, so after running half a circle, Qin Yun was followed by a bunch of wolves, baboons, hyenas and other spiritual links.

“I’ve tickled you for long enough.” Qin Yun protested to the female baboon hanging around his neck while ‘slapping its hands’. The spiritual link acted coquettishly at him, stretching out its arms to reveal its creaking nests.

“…” Qin Yun couldn’t bear it and ‘threw’ it out, “Scratch that kind of place yourself!”

In general, among low-level sentinels, wolves and hyenas had the highest number of spiritual links. Because their hunting habits were similar, the sentinels cooperated relatively well. Qin Yun figured out their hunting formations after running around a few times. In the end, he only needed to stand in a few fixed points, and his guiding tendrils could cover all the sentinels.

Seeing that there were fewer and fewer giant pythons, Qin Yun’s guiding tendrils slowly relaxed. Elberna took the lead in withdrawing from the battlefield and came to his side to protect him.

“…What’s wrong?” Qin Yun’s pupils were dark, but the whites of his eyes glowed with a faint golden colour. Elberna didn’t expect that his mental power was so strong that he could take care of dozens of sentinels and at the same time be distracted to talk to him.

“There is news from the logistics department that an unidentified spacecraft has landed on G Star.” His arctic fox stretched out his pink tongue and carefully licked the sweat on Qin Yun’s forehead, “It may be someone from the Olympus Alliance.”

Qin Yun frowned, “How many have come?”

Elberna’s expression didn’t look good, “Four spaceships…if they are all full, there may be more than 500 people.” After a pause, he added, “And most of them are sentinels.”

Qin Yun: “Do we have any reinforcements?”

Elberna: “The distress signal has just been sent out. Even if reinforcements are dispatched from the nearest air station, it will take four hours.”

Qin Yun stopped talking. The giant python had almost been killed. The golden colour in his eyes was slowly fading. Zhang Jin and his grey wolf were waiting aside.

“Major General!” He gave a military salute to Elberna with a worried look on his face, “The baboons discovered the spaceship two kilometres away.”

Qin Yun couldn’t see the expression on Elberna’s face, who had his back turned to him, but the arctic fox suddenly lowered his body, his ears drooped, and he let out an angry threatening growl.

He subconsciously stretched out his guiding tendrils and rubbed arctic fox’s back soothingly. Elberna’s originally tense shoulders slowly relaxed.

“I’ll have Zhang Jin to take you away first.” Elberna’s expression had returned to calm. He turned to look at Qin Yun, “You are the guide, and you have the priority to survive on the battlefield.”

“That’s only for the mid and high-level guide.” Qin Yun retorted calmly, “I am a low-level guide and a warrior. I have an obligation to stay on the front line.”

Elberna opened his mouth. He wanted to say something more but was interrupted again by Qin Yun, “And you can’t guarantee that there is no guide on the enemy spaceship.”

In a battle, having a guide and not having a guide could be said to be two completely different concepts. As long as there was a guide, even a single-digit sentinel could defeat hundreds of sentinel only teams unless there was a high-level sentinel who could suppress the guide, the presence of a guide was the decisive factor in victory or defeat in any situation.

“Now we can only try to delay as much as possible to buy time for the logistics camp.” After all, Elberna was a major general and the most important soldier. He certainly understood what was most important on the battlefield, “Qin Yun, you and Zhang Jin are in charge of the ambush. If you encounter a team with a guide… don’t engage head-on.”

“If you can’t beat them, just run away…” Qin Yun comforted him, “I got it, I got it. I’ll definitely run fast!”

Elberna: “…It’s still better to fight if we can win!”

There were only ten people in Zhang Jin’s group, including Qin Yun. They were ambushing at the location closest to the landing point of the spaceship. Qin Yun stretched out his guiding tendrils as much as possible. In the current situation, it would be most advantageous if he could sense the enemy’s movements first.

“There were only eight sentinels in the three o’clock direction, and there is no guide.” Qin Yun lowered his voice and said, “We can outflank them from the rear…It’s a good idea to take care of them one by one.”

Zhang Jin: “What are you going to do when we are out there?”

Qin Yun thought for a while, “I’ll hide here. Come back to me after you finished dealing with it.”

Zhang Jin hesitated for a while and then made up his mind. He nodded towards Qin Yun and mouthed be careful.

When there was only one person left, Qin Yun had no worries. He did not retract his tendrils immediately and tried to explore in another direction. When he was halfway through, his consciousness cloud was suddenly attacked!

“High-level guide!” In just a moment, Qin Yun was able to judge the opponent’s level. He quickly withdrew his tendrils, but it was already too late. The opponent’s mental network was relentlessly pursuing him, and the location where he was hiding would be exposed in minutes.

The whites of Qin Yun’s eyes were completely dyed golden. He quickly jumped up and subconsciously ran in the opposite direction. The other party’s guide actually chased after him without even bringing a sentinel.

“The high-level guide is really awesome!” Qin Yun thought angrily, not to mention that he was just a low-level guide. Even if Zhang Jin and the others were here, they had no confidence that they could defeat such a person.

Qin Yun only felt an aircraft passing over his head and thought it was the high-level guide. Just as he was about to turn around, he heard a ‘bang,’ and the seemingly high-level looking thing fell headfirst to the ground.

       Qin Yun: “…”

The skylight of the aircraft banged, and someone kicked a hole from the inside. Then a face with half of it covered in blood popped out.

Before Qin Yun could react, one of his guiding tendrils was forcibly cut off. The pain was so painful that he almost knelt on the ground.

A pair of field boots appeared in his field of vision. Qin Yun reluctantly raised his head. The blood on half of the other person’s face was like water dripping down on the camouflage uniform. He opened his eyes wide and saw clearly the imperial emblem on the man’s chest.

“One of our own?” the man said to himself. He frowned and twitched his nose a few times, “A guide?”

Qin Yun was in so much pain that he couldn’t speak. He thought that even though his pheromone was so weak, the person could still smell it. It was like a combat nose among dog’s noses!

“No spiritual link? Low-level guide?” The man snorted and said contemptuously, “Trash.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

The other party walked behind him in a few steps. The enemy guide had already caught up with them and was stunned when he saw an additional person.

Only then did Qin Yun realize that the man who called him trash also had no spiritual link.

“Be careful!” Qin Yun endured a headache and hurriedly warned, “He is high-level…” Before he could finish his words, the other party had already taken action.

“Want to seduce me?” The man narrowed his eyes and grabbed the high-level guide’s neck with one hand. He lowered his head and smelled it and then showed a disgusted expression, “Only you?” As soon as he finished speaking, the guide was like a puddle of water fell to the ground, and the blush on his face spread to the root of his neck.

Qin Yun was dumbfounded. He tentatively moved the guiding tendrils, only to find that the other party had completely withdrawn from his consciousness. As for the beautiful antelope spiritual link… it was kneeling at the man’s feet, rubbing the man’s dirty trousers back and forth.

“What… happened to him?” Qin Yun asked in disbelief.

“Bonding heat. Forced to go into heat.” The man shook his legs as if to get rid of something dirty, “I just responded to a few pheromones. Ha. Things without self-control.”

Qin Yun: “…Are you sentinel? Where is your spiritual link?!”

“Do you think I’m the same as you?” The man squinted at him with his half-eye that was not stained with blood and smiled sarcastically, “Shut the hell up, sanitary pads.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

Chapter 1 – G Star (1)

—The third air route of the Milky Way branch.—

Qin Yun was still a little groggy when he was awakened by the strong airflow. He had slight seasickness and had dozed off not long after boarding the spacecraft. However, it was obvious that his destination was approaching, and it was time for him to wake up.

“There’s a report from up ahead that Planet G has been occupied?” The guide leader this time was a less experienced battlefield commander. After all, the front-line situation was not too intense, and the sentinels’ mania1Mania is a condition in which you have a period of abnormally elevated, extreme changes in your mood or emotions, energy level or activity level was relatively calm.

The captain of the warship was an ordinary human being. He was clearly aware of the current situation and said in a relaxed tone, “The resources on G Star are not suitable for the reproduction of extraterrestrial life. They are mostly low-level intelligent beings. However, its location is strategic, equivalent to a fortress gateway. If the defence is well organized, it will become a perfect defensive line.”

The leader of the guide echoed, “Yes, after so much foresight and preparation, the Empire can finally breathe a sigh of relief.”

The war captain smiled and stopped talking.

Qin Yun squinted his eyes. There were more than 100 low-level guides like him on this warship. Since the earth was invaded by alien creatures in 2434 AD, humanity had suffered a nearly devastating blow, but it was only nearly.

Billions of years of history couldn’t be wiped out easily. The reason for humanity’s strength lay in its tenacious vitality and adaptability, which was considered a miracle. However, the evolution that followed was inevitable.

With evolution, a hierarchical system was naturally formed accordingly. Guides like him, who didn’t even have a spiritual link, could only go to the front lines to help appease the lowest-ranking sentinels.

However, Qin Yun had always been optimistic. Both sentinels and guides were divided into hierarchical systems; the higher their level, the lower their number, and they also had relatively lower freedom. Moreover, the number of guides was only about half that of sentinels. If they were not marked, low-level guides had to assist at least five sentinels simultaneously. Although it was a bit tiring, still, they wouldn’t be forcefully marked or bound for life. To some extent, Qin Yun was very satisfied with this arrangement.

Joking aside, when the world became peaceful again, a guide without a spiritual link like him would be almost the same as an ordinary person. He could earn a military salary and fall in love freely. He could marry an ordinary wife, and he didn’t have to be tied to a manic psychopath every day… He couldn’t be happier!

As soon as Qin Yun thought of this, he was full of energy every time he went to the front line to work. Forget about assisting five; even if he was asked to soothe the neurons of  100 psychopaths’ brains at the same time, he could endure it!

“Aren’t you tired of trying to use your mind to guide me every time?” Senna’s spiritual link was the lowest-ranking one-celled organism, Paramecium2yes, you saw it right, no I hope I’m also seeing it wrong, and he had to look after it for almost half of a day each time, “Wouldn’t it be more convenient to let the other person lick your face?”

Qin Yun imagined the scene for a moment and then shook his head, “…Do you think people fighting on the front lines brush their teeth every day?”

       “…”

Sennas: “Do you have to state such a cruel fact?”

Qin Yun curled his lips. He had to say it because he once guided a sentinel who had been lying in wait in a mud trench for several days, and he almost fainted from the smell of the man’s body as soon as the man got closer than one meter.

Sennas: “But your guiding is so fast. You don’t have a spiritual link? That simply doesn’t sound right…”

Qin Yun rolled his eyes, “Practice makes perfect.” He hardly had any serious physiological reactions when his guide gene awakened. If the school hadn’t discovered an obvious abnormality during the brain wave measurement, he would have gone to study art in the capital.

Sennas actually sympathizes with him on this point, “Although my spiritual link is a bit weak, but at least I still have it.”

“It’s almost the same as having none.” Qin Yun couldn’t help but complain, “It’s like comparing sanitary pads!”

The term ‘sanitary pad’ has been around for a long time. It could be said to be an exclusive title for low-level guides. It was synonymous with being the worst, disposable, and thrown away after one use. They had no fixed sentinels because no one wanted to mark them. Even the lowest-level sentinel possesses a spiritual link related to offensive mammalian animals. It was natural they were extremely disdainful of single-celled organisms such as paramecium. Their spiritual link couldn’t resonate with each other, so it was even less possible for them to interact. However, mid-level and high-level guides were too rare and strictly protected by law.  In comparison, low-level guides could be considered a massive group. They had a physique that leaned towards ordinary humans, but stronger because they were guides, but their spiritual link was not as powerful as that of mid-level and high-level guides. However, calming the manic ones was not difficult for them. So, for most sentinels during the most embarrassing few days each month, the low-level guides were like sanitary pads… It could prevent side leakage, front leakage and back leakage and could be discarded without taking on any responsibility. There was also no talk of lifetime marking.

“It is precisely because our pheromones are weak enough that us sentinels can be guided without being affected.” Sennas righteously righted themself, “We are great, and we won’t force each other to go into heat against a person’s will!”

Qin Yun said helplessly, “That’s called bonding heat… It sounds so vulgar when you say it.” He paused and sighed, “Even though it’s the guide who initiates this kind of thing, it also depends on whether the sentinel falls for it. Just like a flower, if you make it more fragrant, some people will like it…”

Sennas interrupted mercilessly, “Come on, people won’t like us even if we are lavender-scented sanitary pads, so stop dreaming.”

       Qin Yun: “…”

The one receiving this batch of guides, including Qin Yun, was the head of the 36th Galactic Army Group, Major General Elberna. Qin Yun had encountered him several times before; almost seven or eight times a year, he would be assigned to Elberna’s military formation.

Different from the cautious attitude towards mid-level and senior guides, the military had basically regarded low-level guides as comrades in arms, and they got along more united and harmoniously.

“Qin Yun!” Elberna ran over with a smile. He gave Qin Yun a warrior hug, “I’m so happy to see you again.”

“Yeah.” Qin Yun bumped fists with him. The guide leader only glanced in their direction and didn’t pay much attention afterwards. After all, the sentinels would not be affected by low-level guides.

Elberna’s spiritual link was an arctic fox. Although its attack power was not high, it had a very fast speed.

“Hi, little beauty.” Qin Yun knelt down to greet the arctic fox. The little guy lowered his upper body, and the top of his head gently brushed against his palm.

Qin Yun laughed, “You are in good condition, El.” He retracted his guiding tendrils, stood up and said, “It seems that the battle is really easy.”

Elberna smiled and said nothing. The arctic fox gently circled Qin Yun’s ankles, swept its big tail a few times, and then lay down quietly at his feet.

The state of the spirit connection most intuitively reflected the state of their master. Qin Yun, who had been out on many missions, finally breathed a sigh of relief this time.

“It’s not easy.” Sennas, tearful with emotion, exclaimed, “Finally, I don’t have to be licked by so many people!”

       Qin Yun: “…”

When Qin Yun and the others arrived, the battle situation on G Star was already basically in a state of wrapping up, and there were still a few hundred sentinels left to do the finishing work on the battlefield.

“Will bringing 10 be enough?” the guide leader was a little worried.

Elberna gave a standard military salute, “Report to the commander! It is enough that Guide Qin is here!”

The leader was shocked by Elberna’s vigour and said calmly, “Uh, well, take care then, be safe.”

Qin Yun checked his equipment and weapons. He also had to carry a medical bag of nearly 20 kilograms, so he only brought two more daggers to facilitate movement.

Elberna watched him jump in place twice and said eloquently, “You are really like the soldiers I lead. If I randomly put you out there, probably no one would think you’re a guide.”

Qin Yun glared at him helplessly. He checked his field uniform one last time and raised two fingers to his forehead in a crisp salute, “I’m ready, sir.”

G Star’s environment was similar to that of the early Earth, except that it was characterised by year-round fog and frequent rain. The shortest grass could cover the top of Qin Yun’s head, and it looked like a ‘forest’ from any angle…

“What are the native people here like?” Sennas asked while cutting the grass around him. His paramecium obviously liked the environment here, and it was rare that it was willing to lie on his shoulder obediently without searching around.

Elberna couldn’t help but poke the paramecium’s belly with his finger. The single-celled organism didn’t respond at all and didn’t even bother to move.

Qin Yun observed the surroundings and guessed, “It should be an amphibious animal similar to the early Earth. It is basically devoid of intelligence, and…” He sighed, “It must be not small in size.”

Sennas was stunned when he heard the word ‘not small in size’. He was so frightened that he almost peed, “W-will there be a dragon?!”

Elberna said regretfully, “It would be nice to have a legendary species. Those are the sentinel genetic fragments that scientists pursuing god-level spiritual link have been searching for.”

Qin Yun and Sennas both fell silent. The god-level spiritual link, the earliest sentinel and guide genes, had only been inherited by the Issa royal family so far. Due to gene replication, the power of spiritual link has become increasingly diluted. His Majesty Moschery, who only ascended the throne last year, finally underwent a rare genetic mutation and became the strongest sentinel in the god-level spiritual link in the past hundred years, but he was only a sentinel.

The only god-level guide with a spiritual link was killed in action on the planet Olympus while protecting his sentinel during the ‘Black Rose’ rebel incident a hundred years ago, leaving no one else behind.

It was ironic that the salvation and gifts given by the gods to mankind were destroyed by their own hands.

“The emperor will surely end up alone, and the aftermath of gene replication will become increasingly severe. No matter how wise His Majesty Moschery is, the balance of power in the Empire is still in jeopardy.” Elberna’s expression was solemn, and his arctic fox followed at his feet. It seemed to be influenced by its master, baring its teeth. Qin Yun extended his guiding tendrils and gently touched the arctic fox’s head.

“Human beings are not omnipotent after all.” Qin Yun could only comfort him in the end, “But as for His Majesty Moschery…”

Sennas continued, “He is actually a tyrant, right?”

Less than a year after taking the throne, he had successively conquered ABCDEF—well, G was the seventh star. However, judging by his ambitions, the emperor clearly had the goal of conquering all 26 planets and then summoning a divine dragon…

“He’ll die young for sure…” Sennas said with lingering fear, “His mania must be very serious.”

Qin Yun understood it very well, “The military power is currently not unified, and there are too many conservatives in the cabinet. Olympus has now declared its independence… Every emperor has been unusually obsessed with that place, haven’t they? The late Emperor Helu restrained himself from attacking due to the weak god-level spiritual link, but if it was Moschery…”

He looked at Elberna, “I heard that His Majesty had been wearing a mask because the burden of his spiritual link is too heavy. Is it…because of facial disfigurement?”

Elberna finally couldn’t help but slap him on the head.

Chapter 0 – Prologue

I would like to be your lighthouse, guiding your way, smoothing the scars of loneliness and the surges of stormy seas.

Your life belongs to me, and my soul will be with you.

In the year 2434 AD, unknown alien life forms invaded the earth, and mankind was forced to engage in a long and arduous war of resistance. Fifty years later, nearly a thousand scientists launched genetic transformation, and the ‘Sentinel’ with terrifying five senses and combat power, super willpower and a spiritual system was born. Under their protection, mankind finally survived, but the ensuing genetic defects caused the population to decline rapidly until the first ‘guide’ naturally emerged.
