Chapter 181 – Jian Sheng’s Major (Extra 5.1)
When Jian Sheng and Fei Yuhan first met after leaving campus, it was not a pleasant scene.
At that time, Jian Sheng had just entered the research institute and was eager to prove himself, only to encounter an uncooperative hard case like Fei Yuhan, making him suffer greatly.
“Don’t follow me.”
“What, you don’t understand human language?”
“Frankly, you’re in the way.”
No matter how enthusiastic Jian Sheng was, Fei Yuhan had a thousand ways to extinguish it. His behavior and methods were simply appalling.
Jian Sheng held his collection and recording template, took a deep breath, and said, “I need to track your health path and monitor your physical changes at the same time every day to ensure the accuracy of the health bracelet. Please cooperate…”
Fei Yuhan’s movement paused.
The intern wore dark green camouflage, his tall and upright figure making the simplest camouflage look like high-end limited edition clothing. He stood straight as a pine tree, and his imposing height easily gave off a sense of oppression. If it weren’t for Jian Sheng following him these past few days, he would have already been intimidated when Fei Yuhan turned and stared at him.
Fei Yuhan slowly stepped closer, cornering Jian Sheng against the wall. The somewhat frail boy looked like a small chick in front of the tall and mighty dragon.
Fei Yuhan asked, “Why should I cooperate with you?”
“…This is my job.”
“You said it yourself, it’s your job.” Fei Yuhan’s handsome face leaned in closer, raising an eyebrow, “So, what’s it got to do with me?”
Jian Sheng was stunned.
A hint of sarcasm flashed in Fei Yuhan’s eyes, “Get your priorities straight. Do your job without causing trouble for others. That’s basic etiquette, understand?”
“…”
He made such a good point that Jian Sheng was left speechless.
It was only after Fei Yuhan walked away that Jian Sheng reacted, shouting, “But the health bracelet is also for your benefit. With it, your health can be monitored in real-time, allowing for better training. Isn’t that a win-win?”
Fei Yuhan stopped, turned, and said, “Win-win?”
“That’s based on both parties having a common willingness.” Fei Yuhan continued, “Who told you I needed better training or to be monitored?”
“…”
Jian Sheng felt he couldn’t communicate with him anymore!
Fei Yuhan turned to leave, and Jian Sheng was at a loss. His collection target was right in front of him, so he stubbornly said, “What will it take for you to agree?”
At that moment, Jian Sheng didn’t know how stubborn he was being. He only knew that living meant striving for oneself, fighting for one’s goals, and he didn’t realize how attractive his determination was.
Fei Yuhan was momentarily stunned.
For a moment, he wanted to reassess this boy. Although he was a mere human, he was undeniably different. Fei Yuhan himself was a half-blood replica, always living in the shadow of others. No matter how excellent he was, he would always be compared to the illustrious Lu Shifeng. No matter how hard he tried, he would always hear:
“He’s still not a pureblood.”
“He’s still far behind the Marshal.”
“What a pity…”
People praised him but secretly pitied him.
He once wanted to prove he could achieve what Lu Shifeng could, but the rumors and public opinion would never let him. He had struggled and worked hard, but it was all in vain. He had already given up, living a life of mediocrity. His fate was sealed from birth.
But Jian Sheng was different.
Why were this boy’s eyes always so bright, so clean, so full of burning and dazzling light?
Fei Yuhan said, “Do as you wish.”
Jian Sheng was stunned.
“If you want to follow, then follow.” Fei Yuhan turned to leave, “But if you annoy me, I’ll throw you out. Got it?”
“…Got it.”
The observation period for the internship lasted a month. After the first five days of adjustment, Jian Sheng finally made some progress. Meanwhile, his relationship with Fei Yuhan also improved. When he had nothing to do, he would help out with whatever he could. As a kid from the countryside, he couldn’t sit idle.
“Did you clean the room?”
“Your clothes have been unwashed for days. They’ll stink if you leave them longer.”
“…What’s this?”
“This is a tranquil flower. It helps with sleep.”
“You put this girly thing in my room?”
“…It’s actually really nice.”
Many times, Jian Sheng would be thrown out. He had gotten used to being dragged and locked outside by Fei Yuhan. Usually, during these times, he had his ways.
“I cooked some noodles.”
“I steamed some rice today. Do you want to try it?”
“My brother sent me some sausages. They are really delicious.”
Yes, no one could resist the temptation of good food. During these times, Fei Yuhan was at a loss for what to do with him. This tactic was well known among the new recruits. They all knew that Fei Yuhan, who normally kept his distance from people and had a notoriously bad temper, had a very strong dragon following him—a human who stuck to him like glue. They were always inseparable.
As for Jian Sheng himself: “Great, today is another successful day of data collection!”
Over this month, it was impossible for there to be no feelings at all. He was a noble dragon, the future pillar of society, destined for an extraordinary fate. He should not have any entanglements with an obscure human. They were like clouds in the sky, slowly intersecting and then drifting apart.
On the day of his departure, Jian Sheng went to find Fei Yuhan.
At that time, Fei Yuhan had just come out of the training pod. Seeing Jian Sheng, he asked, “What are we eating tonight?”
Jian Sheng smiled and said, “Hotpot.”
“Hotpot?” Fei Yuhan said, “That takes a lot of time. You didn’t show up all day; were you preparing this?”
Jian Sheng shook his head and led Fei Yuhan to his personal mini fridge in the room. When he opened it, it was full of food. He said, “These are some frozen foods. You don’t like nutrient solutions. When you’re tired from training, you can heat these up. There’s not much, and I won’t be around anymore, so ration them.”
“I noticed you don’t take good care of your body. Even if you are a dragon, you shouldn’t neglect your health.”
He babbled like an old nanny. Fei Yuhan, who had once met Jian Sheng’s older brother Jian Luo, knew who he reminded him of. That boy also looked delicate, very much like this kid in front of him. However, Jian Luo was more reserved. Fei Yuhan didn’t know if being talkative ran in the family.
Fei Yuhan chuckled and was about to say, “You worry too much…”
Jian Sheng closed the fridge and said, “If life is tough, don’t take it out on your health. Even if you’re a dragon, you shouldn’t ignore self-care. You taught me that if one path doesn’t work, take another that suits you. That was your advice.”
Fei Yuhan was stunned.
The boy in front of him raised his face, looking at Fei Yuhan, leaned in closer, lowered his voice, and with a mischievous smile on his lips, said, “If it were you, you’d read more books to avoid embarrassment next time, senior.”
