Chapter 66 – Do I look delicious?

Chapter 66 – Do I look delicious?

Xiao Shiqing probably isn’t very good at comforting people. After that, he didn’t say much, just holding Zhao Qi and gently stroking his scattered hair.

Zhao Qi didn’t intend to cry like this, but after holding it in for so long, enduring it for so long, and being scared by Xiao Shiqing’s almost predatory look just now, it was understandable that his tear ducts suddenly became active.

… Anyway, don’t call him a sissy.

Zhao Qi unabashedly released his grievances and pressure, feeling somewhat relieved after crying. When he finished crying, he felt better inside, except for the embarrassing hiccup that wouldn’t stop.

So he chose to continue nestling in Xiao Shiqing’s arms until the hiccups stopped.

Xiao Shiqing saw that he wasn’t crying anymore, but his body kept twitching, which made him unusually uneasy. He wanted to help Zhao Qi up and take a good look at him.

Zhao Qi hiccupped again. “Don’t touch me.”

Xiao Shiqing: “… Drinking water can stop hiccups.”

Zhao Qi froze — ah, he’s been found out.

Zhao Qi lifted his head from Xiao Shiqing’s embrace, their eyes met, and Zhao Qi’s cheeks flushed. He pretended to be dead again under the blanket.

As long as he hides deep enough, he won’t be embarrassed!

Xiao Shiqing got up and poured a cup of tea for Zhao Qi. “Your Majesty.”

Zhao Qi continued to pretend to be dead.

“Zhao Qi.”

Well, they’re calling each other by name now; if he doesn’t behave, the consequences might be serious. Zhao Qi slowly got up, took the teacup, and sipped it slowly, suppressing the urge to hiccup.

Xiao Shiqing watched him from the side. It was still raining outside, but the thunder had stopped. Zhao Qi sat on the bed, clothes disheveled, long hair hanging down, eyes red, reminiscent of that night when he was underneath him.

After Zhao Qi finished his tea, Xiao Shiqing hesitated, “About that night…”

Zhao Qi immediately tensed up, feeling like he was facing a major enemy. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to discuss this issue. Even now, he hadn’t completely processed the fact that Xiao Shiqing had slept with him.

“You said you were drugged?” Xiao Shiqing asked.

Zhao Qi nodded.

“Do you know who did it?”

After a moment’s hesitation, Zhao Qi shook his head. Rong Tang was already laden with guilt. Since Xiao Shiqing was willing to spare his life, it was better not to add fuel to the fire.

Xiao Shiqing could tell Zhao Qi was lying. “Was it also this person who gave you the fertility drug?”

“No.”

“Oh, I see.”

Under Xiao Shiqing’s subtle gaze, Zhao Qi belatedly realized he had slipped up. Annoyed with himself, he silently cursed Xiao Shiqing for being so scheming and setting him up.

Xiao Shiqing said, “If you don’t want to say, I won’t force you.”

Zhao Qi sighed, “Then… thank you, Prime Minister?”

Xiao Shiqing raised an eyebrow. “No more calling me ‘Brother’?”

“No more.”

Xiao Shiqing asked in a low voice, “Why?”

“You slept with me, and you still want me to call you ‘Brother’?” Zhao Qi complained indignantly, “There’s no reason for a brother to sleep with his younger brother.”

Xiao Shiqing’s eyes darkened slightly, a faint smile on his lips. “Are you unhappy about being slept with by me, Your Majesty?”

Perhaps Xiao Shiqing’s gentleness gave Zhao Qi courage. Gathering his courage, he said, “As a dignified man of seven feet, a sovereign of a country, I wouldn’t be happy no matter who slept with me.”

Xiao Shiqing looked at him calmly, his eyes deep and mysterious, hiding a hint of coldness.

In Zhao Qi’s heart, that night’s experience with Xiao Shiqing seemed more like a disgrace than anything else. No wonder he woke up and forgot all the details, even who the other person was. From beginning to end, he had been deluding himself.

He suddenly regretted stopping earlier. Someone like the Little Emperor, such a little fool, should be properly disciplined in bed, otherwise he’ll never mature.

“Are you really unhappy?” Xiao Shiqing asked.

“Yes.”

Xiao Shiqing casually remarked, “Then why were you crying with tears in your eyes, voice trembling, and constantly moaning? You seemed quite content to me.”

Zhao Qi blushed deeply, “I was drugged to behave like that! Speaking of which, I still want to ask Prime Minister. If the Prime Minister didn’t drug me, why did he sleep with me? Even if I was in heat, you could have called the imperial physician, or even ignored me, I wouldn’t have blamed you. With your strength, you could easily have pushed me away. But instead, you… you actually did it!” And so many times that I woke up the next day feeling like my whole body was falling apart, damn bastard!

Xiao Shiqing seemed caught off guard by the question, paused before saying, “The Emperor was offering himself, crying and begging for me to stay with him. I couldn’t defy his wishes.”

Zhao Qi looked at him coldly, “Heh, but why haven’t I seen Prime Minister obeying my orders at other times?”

“That’s just one of the reasons.”

“Are there other reasons?”

“I wanted to sleep with the Emperor, so I did,” Xiao Shiqing shamelessly said, “Isn’t that going with the flow?”

Damn going with the flow, Zhao Qi and his little Zhao Qi in his belly were stunned. This reason was truly unassailable, leaving him speechless.

“Not… why?” Zhao Qi felt his mind filled with question marks. “Do I look so delicious that everyone is eyeing my ass??”

Xiao Shiqing nodded lightly, “Hmm, not just your looks. You taste even better when slept with, once is never enough.”

Zhao Qi almost choked, unable to catch his breath, “Why should a straight guy like me endure all this…”

“Straight guy?”

Zhao Qi sniffled, “I mean, I just liked women.”

Xiao Shiqing continued, “Dozens of men from the Dongying (t/n: ancient Japan) royal family have used this medicine safely, all giving birth to normal babies without any abnormalities. These men remain men and won’t become any sort of ‘yao’.”

Zhao Qi struggled to contain his embarrassment and blurted out his concern, “But they won’t produce milk, right? I absolutely cannot accept this!!”

Xiao Shiqing glanced almost imperceptibly at Zhao Qi’s chest, a smirk playing on his lips. “I don’t know.”

Unsatisfied, Zhao Qi insisted, “How can such an important matter be ‘I don’t know’?! Send someone to investigate this immediately.”

Xiao Shiqing promised half-heartedly, “If it’s impossible, would Your Majesty still bear children?”

Zhao Qi admitted honestly, “I’m not sure. Do you want me to bear children?”

Without hesitation, Xiao Shiqing replied, “Yes.”

“Why?” Zhao Qi felt bombarded with questions today.

Xiao Shiqing simply stated, “Because it would be my flesh and blood.”

“If the Prime Minister wants flesh and blood, surely many would be willing to bear for you. Why insist on me?” Zhao Qi asked.

Xiao Shiqing sighed with exasperation, “Of course I insist. If this child is a boy, I can pressure the Emperor to appoint him as the Crown Prince. This way, my family would gain power over the realm just by me sleeping once.”

Suddenly understanding, Zhao Qi exclaimed, “I see! That makes sense!”

“…,” Xiao Shiqing sighed deeply, beginning to wonder if this foolish person would one day drive him to his death by exasperation. He closed his eyes and said, “No.”

“No what?” Zhao Qi asked.

“I want you to bear it, not to take over the world. The world belongs to you, to the Zhao family, and no one can take it away,” Xiao Shiqing said slowly. “I don’t want anyone else to bear my child. I only want you… to bear it.”

Zhao Qi stared at Xiao Shiqing in astonishment, suddenly feeling as if Xiao Shiqing was confessing to him.

If that were the case, then Xiao Shiqing’s romantic pursuit was indeed excessive. Being pursued by four extremely attractive people… he had only experienced such treatment when retreating from group battles in games.

For a moment, silence fell between them. Xiao Shiqing seemed somewhat uneasy, looked away, and said, “I have invited a divine physician from Dongying who will arrive in Jiangxia soon. You can thoroughly investigate the matter of men giving birth before making a decision.”

“Oh…” Zhao Qi lowered his head, gazing at his fingers. “I can also ask Mei Shenyi — the one Zhao Qiao brought from Dongying.”

Xiao Shiqing smirked, “Can you trust someone Zhao Qiao brought?”

“…,” Zhao Qi was speechless. The only reliable thing Xiao Qiao’s younger brother did was bring the real medicine for childbirth from Dongying, which alone was enough to make him grateful (or resentful) for a lifetime.

Xiao Shiqing gently lifted Zhao Qi’s chin, locking eyes with him. “Think it over again, hmm?”

Caught in Xiao Shiqing’s gaze, tinged with a hint of hope, Zhao Qi couldn’t bring himself to say “no.” He nodded. “Okay.”

Xiao Shiqing covered Zhao Qi’s eyes with his hand, leaning in close to whisper in his ear, “I’ll wait for you.”

Chapter 94

In the afternoon, Zhan Pengcheng asked Zhan Weiguang to accompany Pei Qing to the hospital to treat the wound on his face and the teeth he had lost.

When Pei Qing left, Zhan Weiyang fell asleep, so Zhan Pengcheng stayed by his bed until Zhan Weiyang woke up from a deep sleep.

When Zhan Weiyang woke up and saw Zhan Pengcheng, he suddenly asked in panic, “Where is Qing ge?” He was afraid that Pei Qing decided not to want him anymore.

Zhan Pengcheng reached out and touched his sweaty hair, saying, “He went to the hospital and will be back soon.”

Zhan Weiyang was still very uneasy; he asked Zhan Pengcheng, “Will Qing ge leave me?”

Zhan Pengcheng was silent for a while and said, “How could that be?”

Zhan Weiyang said in a low voice, “You and Mom quarrelled before, and Mom didn’t want me anymore.”

Zhan Pengcheng retracted his hand, and after a moment, he raised his hands to cover his face. He spent a long time sorting out his emotions and finally said to Zhan Weiyang, “Yangyang, I’m sorry.”

       Zhan Weiyang looked at him.

Zhan Pengcheng said, “If you want to date, just date. You just need to know that you still have Dad and your brother no matter what happens. If Pei Qing is not good enough, you can go home to find Dad, understand?”

Zhan Weiyang disagreed with him and said, “Qing ge is very good.”

Zhan Pengcheng nodded, “He is very good, Dad knows.” There were more words that Zhan Pengcheng didn’t say now, but he still had a lot of time in the future and was willing to tell Zhan Weiyang slowly.

Regardless of how far Zhan Weiyang and Pei Qing’s relationship could go, Zhan Pengcheng only hoped that Zhan Weiyang would not be hurt. But he also understood that anyone who invested their emotions was at risk of getting hurt. For the first time, he realised that he couldn’t shield Zhan Weiyang from all harm in this matter, and as Zhan Weiyang grew and he himself grew older, there were more things he wouldn’t be able to protect him from.

In the past, Zhan Pengcheng often thought that if Zhan Weiyang never grew up, it was fine; as long as he earned enough money, he could take care of him for a lifetime. Now, he realised that Zhan Weiyang had indeed grown up, and his protection no longer worked for the adult Zhan Weiyang. Given this, Zhan Pengcheng began to hope that Zhan Weiyang would grow even more so that he would have the ability to endure and resolve harm on his own. Only then could Zhan Pengcheng truly feel at ease.

On the way back from the hospital, Pei Qing received a call from Pei Jingrong, saying that he wanted to meet him and talk.

Pei Qing asked Zhan Weiguang to drive him to a nearby coffee shop and then sent the address to Pei Jingrong.

Zhan Weiguang was a little worried and asked Pei Qing, “Do you need me to accompany you?”

Pei Qing wore a mask when he came out of the hospital to make the wound on his face less noticeable. He said, “No, you go back first. If Yangyang wakes up, tell him I will go to see him later.”

Zhan Weiguang nodded and drove away.

Pei Qing waited more than ten minutes, and Pei Jingrong took a taxi. The two sat in the booth by the window.

Pei Jingrong waited until the waiter left before speaking, “Is your injury okay?”

Pei Qing said, “The wound on my face is nothing, but I lost a big tooth, which is troublesome, and I may need a dental implant.”

Pei Jingrong picked up a small spoon and stirred the coffee cup gently, saying, “Before making a choice, you should think about the consequences you have to bear.”

Pei Qing said, “You are right, I have thought about it.”

Pei Jingrong sneered when he heard it.

Pei Qing looked at him calmly. Although the mask covered half of his face, the expression in his eyes was almost calm.

Pei Jingrong said, “I don’t know what to say when you talk to me like that.”

Pei Qing asked him, “What did you want to say?”

Pei Jingrong said, “Do you think you deserve to be beaten?”

Pei Qing said, “I can understand Uncle beating me, but I don’t think it’s necessary for you to hit me.”

Pei Jingrong picked up the coffee cup and took a sip. “We have been father and son for so many years, and I found that I don’t understand you at all.”

Pei Qing said, “You didn’t try to understand me.”

Pei Jingrong said, “Some things are inconvenient to say at their house this morning. I want to ask you, how long do you think you can stay with a kid like Zhan Weiyang?”

Pei Qing said casually, “Maybe for a lifetime.”

       Pei Jingrong sneered.

Pei Qing said, “My mom is smart, beautiful, and highly educated, yet you didn’t stay with her for long. What right do you have to question me about such matters?”

Pei Jingrong said, “Must you talk to me like this?”

Pei Qing looked at him, “Don’t we always talk like this?”

Pei Jingrong said, “I will return early tomorrow morning after today’s meeting. I’m telling you for the last time, come back with me.”

       Pei Qing didn’t say anything.

Pei Jingrong said, “I believe that one day you will realise that you are wrong.”

Pei Qing leaned back on the chair and said to Pei Jingrong, “Do you think that one day I will come back crying and admit my mistakes to you?”

Pei Jingrong looked at him silently.

Pei Qing smiled and said, “Then let’s wait and see.”

In the evening, Pei Qing went back to see Zhan Weiyang. When he entered the living room, he saw Zhan Pengcheng and said, “I’ll come to see Yangyang and then leave. I promised him that I would come back.”

Zhan Pengcheng seemed to feel a little embarrassed. He stood up from the sofa, put his hands in his jacket pockets, looked at Pei Qing and asked, “Is the injury serious?”

Pei Qing shook her head, “It’s nothing.”

Zhan Pengcheng said, “Yangyang is in his room; just go up.”

Pei Qing heard Zhan Pengcheng’s words and realised that he had compromised for Zhan Weiyang, so he just nodded, didn’t say much, and went upstairs from the stairs.

Zhan Weiyang sat on his bed in a daze.

After Pei Qing went in, he pulled the chair beside the table to the bed and sat down facing Zhan Weiyang.

Zhan Weiyang looked at him with his lifeless eyes wide open.

Pei Qing asked him, “Do you feel better?”

Zhan Weiyang didn’t answer but reached out and gently touched Pei Qing’s face through the mask.

Pei Qing took off the mask and showed him both cheeks, which were still swollen.

Zhan Weiyang asked him, “Does it hurt?”

Pei Qing said, “It still hurts a little bit.”

       Zhan Weiyang looked very sad.

Pei Qing said to him, “But it won’t hurt if Yangyang touches it.”

Zhan Weiyang said, “You lied to me. You will still feel pain if I touch you.”

Pei Qing told him, “Humans are very powerful. They can bear all kinds of harm to protect the people they love. At this time, as long as you tell yourself that it doesn’t hurt, it really won’t hurt.”

Zhan Weiyang asked him, “Can trees do that?”

Pei Qing said, “Of course trees can. You see, in order to root themselves, trees can have endless power. As long as there is something they want to stick to, they can resist all kinds of harm, whether it is verbal harm or physical harm.”

“Verbal harm?” Zhan Weiyang said silently.

Pei Qing told him, “Yes, just like others say you are an idiot—this is verbal harm. Do you have something you want to stick to to resist this kind of harm?”

“Yes,” Zhan Weiyang looked at him, “I want to protect you, as well as Dad and Grandma.” After saying that, he silently counted Zhan Weiguang in his heart.

Pei Qing smiled, “If you want to protect so many people, then you must not care about this kind of harm, understand?”

Zhan Weiyang said, “I understand. I’m not an idiot. It’s just that people don’t understand me.”

Pei Qing opened his arms and let Zhan Weiyang rush over to hug him, saying, “Yangyang is amazing.”

Chapter 65 – I'm pregnant with the prime minister's brother's baby.

Chapter 65 – I’m pregnant with the prime minister’s brother’s baby.

Several people looked towards the direction of the gate together. Jiang Dehai asked, “What’s going on?”

Zhao Qi shook his head, set down his bowl of soup, and looked at the rippling layers of medicine in the soup, inexplicably relieved. “Let’s go take a look.”

Jiang Dehai opened the door and asked the guards outside, “What’s all the commotion about?”

The guard sounded hesitant, “It’s Prince Zhaonan who wishes to see the Emperor.”

Zhao Qi frowned. “Why is it Li Chisu again? He’s said everything he needed to. What’s he here for now?”

Jiang Dehai said, “Didn’t His Majesty instruct that he would see no one today? Tell him to come another day.”

“I did, but he insists it’s of utmost importance to see the Emperor. He seems really anxious, so…”

Jiang Dehai glanced back at Zhao Qi. After a moment’s hesitation, Zhao Qi nodded.

“Your Majesty!” Li Chisu practically rushed in, still in yesterday’s clothes, his hair slightly disheveled, his face pale and devoid of his usual demeanor.

Zhao Qi said, “Speak quickly.”

Li Chisu’s gaze caught sight of the bowl of soup on the table. He paused for a moment, then took a sudden step forward. “You… drank it?”

A peal of thunder rumbled in the distance, the rain lingering ominously in the clouds, refusing to fall.

Zhao Qi guessed why Li Chisu had come. It was probably to persuade him to reconsider, to leave this child behind. “Not yet,” he said, “but I will soon.”

Li Chisu visibly relaxed. He closed his eyes briefly, his long lashes trembling slightly, as if after restraining himself for a long time, he could no longer hold back. “Your Majesty, I lied to you.”

Zhao Qi stared at those peach blossom eyes that were skilled at beguiling hearts, his own heart tightening. “What did you say?”

Li Chisu took a deep breath and said slowly, word by word, “On the night of the palace banquet, I did not… engage in intimacy with you. I did want to do something to you, but before I could, Rong Tang arrived.”

Zhao Qi’s heart pounded wildly. For a moment, he couldn’t understand Li Chisu’s meaning.

The person who slept with him wasn’t Li Chisu, then the dragon egg in his belly…

Li Chisu smiled bitterly, looking at Zhao Qi’s swollen belly. “So the child in your belly isn’t mine.”

Another deafening thunder shook the room, as if striking within. Everyone held their breath, their gaze fixed on Zhao Qi.

Wide-eyed, Zhao Qi murmured in confusion, “Not yours, not yours…”

Not Rong Tang’s, not He Changzhou’s, not Li Chisu’s either.

Then… whose is it?

The answer seemed imminent.

His head felt like it was about to explode. He looked around blankly, unsure where he was or what he was doing.

“But… that’s impossible.” Zhao Qi lowered his head to look at his belly, silently asking, “Are you really the prime minister’s brother…?”

The dragon egg kicked him—this was the strongest kick he had felt since feeling the fetal movements.

Li Chisu couldn’t hide his heartache and guilt at Zhao Qi’s reaction. “I thought that acknowledging the child would make you look at me differently, treat me unlike others, and have me in your heart.” Li Chisu chuckled self-deprecatingly. “It turns out I was expecting too much.” Instead of valuing him more for the child, Zhao Qi didn’t want the child at all.

Zhao Qi remained stunned.

“I was too selfish, too eager for you, to do this. Whatever the Emperor decides to do with me, I will accept it. I only beg the Emperor to reconsider and spare the child…”

Li Chisu’s words fell on deaf ears for Zhao Qi. At this moment, all he could think about was that the person who slept with him that night was Xiao Shiqing.

He was carrying Xiao Shiqing’s child.

Xiao Shiqing… that noble and aloof man, distant from men and women alike, who once treated him as a puppet, and now… now the lord prime minister, whatever he thought of him, turned out to be the true “culprit”?!

It was him who had forcefully and gently possessed him; he was the one who sat on Xiao Shiqing, unsatisfied, crying out “more”; and it was also him, with his moist hands stroking his back, whispering in his ear, saying those…

He didn’t want to recall those words!

After a long silence, someone shouted, “Lord Prime Minister.”

Zhao Qi suddenly looked up and saw a man in black walking in, bringing with him a chilling aura.

Though it was midday, the sky outside was dark as dusk. The room was lit by lamps, and Xiao Shiqing stood in the semi-darkness, his expression unreadable to Zhao Qi.

Before anyone else could speak, Xiao Shiqing said, “Everyone, leave.”

His voice was calm, carrying the usual irresistible authority.

Jiang Dehai hesitated. “Prime Minister, the Emperor…”

Xiao Shiqing repeated icily, “I said, everyone leave.”

“Yes.”

Jiang Dehai, Xiao Jinzi, Cheng Boyan, and Meichuan left one after another. Li Chisu keenly sensed the oppressive and dangerous atmosphere surrounding Xiao Shiqing, and couldn’t help but worry about Zhao Qi. “Prime Minister, you…”

Xiao Shiqing stared at Zhao Qi without blinking, but his words were directed at Li Chisu. “If you still want your Southern Twelve Provinces, don’t say another word.”

Li Chisu squinted his peach blossom eyes. “Do you think this can threaten me, Prime Minister?”

Xiao Shiqing smiled. “Can’t it?”

Li Chisu laughed. “No, it can’t.”

Xiao Shiqing turned to Zhao Qi. “Let him go.”

Zhao Qi was overwhelmed by Xiao Shiqing’s gaze, struggling to breathe. He managed to say, “Prince Zhaonan should withdraw first. His Majesty and I have… matters to discuss.”

Li Chisu was reluctant, not afraid of Xiao Shiqing, but also didn’t want to make things difficult for Zhao Qi. “I’ll be outside. Call me if His Majesty needs me.”

As Li Chisu left, only the two fathers of the dragon egg remained in the room. The storm finally broke through the dark clouds, whipping against the ground. Rain splashed outside the window, hazy and misty.

Listening to the rain, Zhao Qi’s lips trembled. “Is it… brother?”

Xiao Shiqing glanced at the bowl of soup beside Zhao Qi’s hand, his eyes cold and serious. “Do you want to drink?”

Without hearing Xiao Shiqing’s answer in person, Zhao Qi stubbornly repeated, “Is it you?”

Xiao Shiqing’s Adam’s apple rolled, and his thin lips lightly opened. “Yes.”

At that moment, Zhao Qi couldn’t describe his feelings. When he thought the dragon egg belonged to He Changzhou, he felt frustrated and uncomfortable; when he thought it was Li Chisu’s, he felt nauseous and angry. Now, he just felt absurd, unable to understand.

Why would it be Xiao Shiqing? It shouldn’t be?!

Xiao Shiqing looked down at him quietly. “You knew it was me?”

Zhao Qi reacted slowly, subconsciously murmuring, “Uh…”

Xiao Shiqing’s eyes were deep and cold, his voice chilling to the bone. “You knew it was me, yet you still want to get rid of him?”

He approached Zhao Qi step by step, leaving Zhao Qi no room to retreat, sitting straight on the bed. “Brother…”

“Even before the Southern Expedition, you knew about this and kept it from me until now, not to secretly give birth to the child, but…” Xiao Shiqing’s words abruptly stopped. He looked down at him condescendingly, the intense pressure making Zhao Qi unable to say a word.

Xiao Shiqing sneered coldly, “Who was the one who held me back and wouldn’t let me go back then—how come, now that you have a child, you don’t want to admit it?”

“I didn’t!”

“You didn’t?” Xiao Shiqing raised his eyebrows. Holding Zhao Qi’s chin in both hands, he forced Zhao Qi to look at the bowl on the table. “Then tell me, what is this?”

With Xiao Shiqing’s stern expression and indifferent tone, Zhao Qi hadn’t seen this side of Xiao Shiqing in a long time. He felt a chill rising from the depths of his heart, as if he were facing Xiao Shiqing for the first time.

Zhao Qi swallowed nervously. “It’s… it’s a miscarriage potion…”

At the mention of “miscarriage potion,” Xiao Shiqing’s eyes filled with fury, and he embraced Zhao Qi’s waist from behind, pushing him onto the bed from behind, his knee squeezing between Zhao Qi’s legs, like a predator towering over its prey, easily within reach.

“It seems that His Majesty has never quite remembered what happened that night. Should I help His Majesty remember?”

Danger approached, and even the weakest prey would struggle, let alone Zhao Qi.

“Let go of me!” Zhao Qi pushed back with both hands, but Xiao Shiqing twisted him in place, rendering him unable to move.

Feeling the jade belt around his waist being undone, Zhao Qi knew Xiao Shiqing wasn’t joking. He was really about to reenact the scene from the Festival of Longevity Palace Banquet. His eyes reddened instantly as he shouted, “Brother, please don’t…!”

“If you scream louder,” Xiao Shiqing coldly and mockingly interrupted, “let everyone outside hear how the emperor enjoys himself.”

A chilly hand slipped into Zhao Qi’s clothes. He shook his head desperately. The golden crown symbolizing supreme imperial authority rolled from the bed to the corner with a crisp sound.

“You… bastard!” Zhao Qi choked out, tears streaming, “Xiao Shiqing, you universal bastard!”

“Bastard?” Xiao Shiqing leaned close to his cheek, gently licking away tears, “I’m a bastard. Then what does that make the emperor who’s fathered by a bastard?” He held one of Zhao Qi’s hands, forcing it to touch the slightly swollen abdomen. “What is the emperor carrying?”

“A… a little bastard!”

Xiao Shiqing chuckled softly. “This little bastard will soon be obliterated by his imperial father. But before that, let him see how his father conceived him, alright?”

“No, please!” Zhao Qi trembled in Xiao Shiqing’s embrace, tears falling relentlessly. “I didn’t know! I really didn’t know! I was drugged into this, I didn’t want it… Why, why do you treat me like this, sob sob sob…”

Xiao Shiqing abruptly stopped his movements.

“I didn’t know it was my brother’s child, I didn’t even know who that person was that night!” Zhao Qi cried like a grievously wronged child. “I was drugged into this with you. I didn’t want this… Why, why do you treat me like this, sob sob sob…”

Xiao Shiqing fell silent for a moment, then turned Zhao Qi around and held him face to face.

Once Zhao Qi started crying, he couldn’t stop. His tears soaked Xiao Shiqing’s clothes. “I’m a grown man, unexpectedly pregnant with who knows whose child, and you don’t know how scared and sad I am. How can you still scold me! Are you even human!”

“… Xiao Shiqing’s heart was almost broken by Zhao Qi’s tears. He kissed Zhao Qi’s forehead gently, his voice unusually tender. “Hmm, I’m not human. Your Majesty, please don’t cry.”

“Sob sob sob… Hic.”

Chapter 42

The desire suppressed in the body changed from the initial turbulent waves to soft and winding waves through the training of endurance, spreading over the limbs and swaying under the skin layer by layer. At this moment, Chu Yunhan was blindfolded, and his lower body was bound. Under the cover of black clothes, the fair flesh was displayed horizontally on the big bed, and the light red whip marks from the rough punishment still remained on both of his femurs. It was like a strong and explicit erotic picture, which made the eyes of Chu Yichen, who was looking at him similarly flooded with tides of love.

The man’s eyes were deep and reserved, with dark light surging in his black eyes, as soft as moonlight. His fingers slowly stroked along the side of the face, as if tracing, as if outlining, as gently as if they were treating a treasure. Soon, his lips came up against Chu Yunhan’s, teasingly pecking Chu Yunhan’s lips. They touched and separated again, like a hide-and-seek, causing Chu Yunhan to try his best to lift his lower jaw to seek. The blindfolded man was like a thirsty fish, raising his head, showing the beautiful curve of his neck, looking for and waiting for the other person’s lips.

The kiss with a gentle and warm breath slowly moved down, landing on the jaw, Adam’s apple, and collarbone, small and gentle. His touch was everywhere, sometimes squeezing the erection of the chest through the fabric of clothing, sometimes brushing against the tight lower abdomen, and sometimes stroking the messy c0ck. In such foreplay, Chu Yunhan felt like he was about to melt, turning into a puddle of water and mud, paralysed in Chu Yichen’s dragnet, letting the other party take whatever he wanted.

His heartbeat was speeding up as fast, as if it was about to jump out of the chest. His breathing was heavy and rapid, and the sound of repeated sighs and pleadings echoed in the room.

“Master…Master…” He kept repeating meaningless murmurs, but it seemed that only saying these words could make him feel at ease.

“I’m here.” The man untied the restraints on the front of his c0ck and threw them aside, saying, “You’re not allowed to cum without my order.” Then he pulled Chu Yunhan’s clothes upward and took his breasts into his mouth.

The hot and humid mouth suddenly enveloped his sensitive area, and a strong pleasure arose under the licking and nibbling of the tongue. He couldn’t tell whether it was pain, numbness, or itching. Chu Yunhan felt restless all over his body. A small amount of transparent body fluid oozed out from the top of the restrained genitals like tears. He hummed, his hands gripping the sheets beneath him.

And this was just the beginning, as the other nipple sank in, taking on an even more luscious hue as it was sucked. The kiss began to move down, rolling around the waist and lingering on the lower abdomen. When the wet tongue licked the top of the c0ck, he trembled like an electric shock and let out a cry-like moan, “No…no, no, no. …Master…I can’t stand it anymore…”

Until now, their interactions had always followed that contract. The contract stated that he would not accept oral sex, and he did not need the other party to give him oral sex. So, the two had never used this method before; this was the first time. Chu Yunhan couldn’t see, but he could visualise Chu Yichen lowering his head and licking his c0ck. Just imagining it made him almost ejaculate.

Actually, this was also Chu Yichen’s first time. He had had many subs but had never performed oral sex on each other. The only person in the world who could make him lower his head and use his mouth to please was the one in front of him. When he put the umbrella-shaped part into his mouth, the person under him let out a cry and then arched his body upwards. White turbidity spurted out, and he was splashed in the face before he had time to avoid it.

Chu Yunhan, who was lost in the climax, gasped for breath, and his tears wetted a small piece of the blindfold. When he calmed down a little, he realised what had just happened. He blushed and whispered, “I was wrong…”

Chu Yichen wiped the turbid liquid from his face and said in a deep voice, “Turn over and lie down.”

He obediently obeyed, and as soon as he lay down on his butt, he was slapped, causing a burning pain.

“Tell me why you were punished.”

“I didn’t obey Master’s order and…ejaculated without permission.” He stuttered.

Then the other side also received a slap, “What else?”

“And…” he thought with a grimace, “I don’t have the right to say ‘no’.”

“Lift your butt and tell me who you are.”

Chu Yunhan lay on his back with his butt stuck out like a puppy. When he felt the man’s fingers inserting into his back hole, he took a deep breath and said, “I am your slave.”

The dilated back hole was now empty, and the folds opened again under the manipulation of fingers, revealing the tender red flesh wall. While Chu Yichen was caressing his hole and sac, he was tugging on the thong, rubbing the semi-softened front part of his c0ck, “Tell me your rights.”

“All my rights come from what you have given me.”

       “Tell me about your obligations.”

“My obligation is to please you.” This kind of identity-enhancing question and answer has become quite fluent for present-day Chu Yunhan.

“Do you think your performance just now pleased me?” the man asked.

He pursed his lips, buried his face in his arms in shame, spread his buttocks with his hands, and whispered like a mosquito, “I was wrong, Master…please…please…” His face was red, and he couldn’t speak any further.

Chu Yichen curled his lips silently, unbuttoned his belt and pulled down his pants to reveal his bulging c0ck. He pressed the front end against the slightly open hole and said, “Slave, you look very good with your ass raised right now, waiting to be fvcked like a little bitch in heat. Do you want me to put a tail in there so you can wag your butt and beg me to feed you?”

Verbal humiliation is also an important part of BDSM. The explicit and obscene words about sex arouse an unspeakable sense of shame, stimulating every nerve, making Chu Yunhan more sensitive to embarrassment and humiliation, and inducing desire bit by bit.

“Please…feed me…” Chu Yunhan was no longer bound to those rigid rules of reality and completely let himself play the role of a slave in the game.

The man pressed his butt with one hand and held his thick c0ck with the other hand, using the tip to grind his reddish hole little by little, and said, “The reason your butt is spanked like this is because you are disobedient. If you don’t obey me again later and have to cum without permission, I will fvck you until you can’t cum anymore, do you understand?”

Chu Yunhan’s breathing quickened, and he replied tremblingly, “I understand.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the thick c0ck covered with lubricant pushed in, moving slowly but firmly, going deeper inch by inch. Unlike the di-do, the thing that entered him at this moment was alive, like a python, slowly moving forward in the narrow cave, exploring the secrets deep ahead. The sphincter was stretched to the limit, and the entire body seemed to be broken open by this meat blade. Chu Yunhan gasped, and his body suddenly tensed up, but he forced himself to relax his back hole and accept the other person.

“Take your time and relax.” After full penetration, the contraction, squeezing and sticky heat of the hole gave Chu Yichen a surge of overwhelming pleasure, but he stopped abruptly with control. Panting lightly, he stroked the back of the person beneath him, waiting dormantly for the other person to adapt.

Chu Yunhan took a few deep breaths and said, “It’s ready…”

“Open your legs wider.” The man gave the order and began to twitch slowly. While thrusting in and out of the back hole in small steps, he used his hand to play with Chu Yunhan’s semi-soft c0ck, scratching the bell, kneading the balls, and using a little more force, making the person underneath him moan.

Insert, pull out, again and again. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow, sometimes light, sometimes heavy—the other party completely dominated him. The top of the genitals hits the glands, bringing an electric shock-like pleasure that jumps up to the groin and spreads along the spinal cord, causing ripples throughout the body. The crisp sound of the sac slapping against the perineum and the sound of lubrication squeezing out as the rod pushed in mingled with the moans. The stimulation of the parts that should not be used for intercourse was more intense than any other pleasure in the past, and the desire given by someone who should not have this kind of relationship was more satisfying than anything anyone had ever given before.

Chu Yunhan moaned wildly, opened his body completely, straightened his waist and swayed his butt in line with the other party’s movements. Chu Yichen’s tenderness between the sheets was like a net, surrounding him and pulling him deeper into the tide of love. For the first time, he felt truly satisfied, as if a broken jade pendant had found its compatible partner, as if something he had longed for many years finally appeared in his life. Tears welled up in the corners of his eyes, making the blindfold wet.

Lust was like poison, corroding anyone’s body.

Love was like strong wine; it soothed anyone’s heart.

Breaths intertwined, bodies mingled. Everything around him seemed to have disappeared, and there was only him and him between heaven and earth, like two pieces of solid iron thrown into a vast furnace, which finally melted together and became an indestructible shape that could no longer be separated.

Chu Yunhan, who was lying on his stomach, was shaken by the impact. He panted and said, “Master… can you… um… let me look at you… I want to look at you…”

The man behind him paused for a moment, then withdrew the thick and hard c0ck from his body, turning his body over and lying on his back. Then, the blindfold was removed. The remote control had dimmed the lights in the room, but the man still covered his eyes with his palms and said, “Close it for a while and then open it again.”

Chu Yunhan slowly opened his wet eyes, looked at the person before him, curled his lips and smiled.

Chu Yichen also held up his arms and looked at him from above with a pair of black eyes that seemed to have endless tenderness.

He reached out to unbutton the collar of the man’s military uniform. Chu Yichen grabbed his hand and said, “Want to be punished?”

“Yeah.” He said with a wink, “When I’m done, you can punish me as you wish.”

The man said nothing and let go of his hand. He took off his clothes one by one, revealing his naked body.

Chu Yunhan knew why the man was reluctant to take off his clothes. He wanted to do it so that the two of them could be naked together, without any coverings or inhibitions. He looked at the scarred body, lowered his eyelashes to cover the redness under his eyes, raised his body slightly, kissed Chu Yichen’s lips, and said, “Master… I’m still so hungry…”

Chapter 71 – Side Story Five

Chapter 71: Side Story Five

——Thousands of years ago, in the Phoenix Territory.

Inside an exquisite small building, Su Muluo, the patriarch of the Phoenix clan, was leaning over a table. In front of him was a small white porcelain basin containing clear water, a few water plants, several pebbles, and a small black dragon.

The little black dragon leisurely swam around in the water, occasionally blowing small bubbles towards Su Muluo.

Su Muluo smirked slightly and extended his slender fingers into the water—immediately, the small black dragon grabbed onto his fingers with its claws tightly, refusing to let go.

“Chief.”

As Su Muluo and the dragon played together, a figure entered the small building—it was Shuangli.

For some reason, his green clothes were stained with mud spots, and he was holding a small basin in his hands, seemingly containing something.

Su Muluo said, “Where have you been? Your clothes are dirty like this; Yingshu will scold you again later.”

Shuangli retorted stubbornly, “I’m not afraid of her. Just a little maid, what’s there to fear?” He walked to the table and placed the small basin next to the white porcelain basin with the black dragon, saying, “Chief, look at this, it’s a gift for the little loach.”

Upon hearing the words “little loach,” the small black dragon immediately lifted its head and spat a small fireball towards Shuangli.

Startled, Shuangli quickly dodged aside, exclaiming, “What are you doing! The Chief calls you that too, why don’t you scold him!”

The black dragon snorted a few times, ignored Shuangli with a flick of its tail, and continued to cling affectionately to Su Muluo’s finger, rubbing its head against him.

Su Muluo watched the little dragon acting coquettishly towards him, a smile playing on his lips. He patted its head and then glanced at the small basin Shuangli had brought—

Inside the palm-sized basin were several snake-like creatures that were as ugly as sin.

Su Muluo said, “…What are these? They’re quite ugly.”

Shuangli grinned, “These are loaches I dug up for the little loach. It’s usually all alone, so these loaches can keep it company.”

The small black dragon: “???”

Before Su Muluo could react, it let out an angry “roar” and spat another small fireball at Shuangli.

Having anticipated this, Shuangli dodged quickly. Su Muluo looked at the squirming loaches and remarked, “They’re quite sticky and not very attractive…”

He glanced at the small black dragon again and said, “But they do resemble you a bit.”

The black dragon: “…………”

It immediately exploded in anger, wriggling frantically in Su Muluo’s palm and stirring up the water in the basin.

Su Muluo chuckled and comforted the dragon, patting it skillfully, “Alright, alright, you don’t look like them at all. You’re much better looking.” Then he added, “Be careful not to tie yourself into knots like last time.”

“Roar!”

The black dragon, still huffy, allowed Su Muluo to pat it several times before finally burrowing into his sleeve, ignoring everyone else.

Shuangli laughed heartily, “So, Chief, are we keeping these little loaches?”

Before he finished speaking, a small head poked out from Su Muluo’s sleeve: “Roar!”

No!

They’re not allowed here!

Su Muluo pinched the soft horn on the dragon’s head and smiled, “You should raise them yourself. They’re too ugly, I don’t want to keep them.”

Shuangli nodded, “Oh,” and lifted the small basin, saying, “Perfect, they can be an extra meal tonight.”

Only after he left did the small black dragon emerge from Su Muluo’s sleeve, snorting angrily as it coiled around his Phoenix wrist, swishing its tail.

Su Muluo watched the adorable dragon, speaking gently, “By the way, when are you going to transform?”

He had raised this small black dragon for several years. Despite the fact that it had already gained intelligence, it still hadn’t transformed.

Upon hearing this, the little black dragon tilted its head for a moment and then let out a soft sound.

“I don’t know either.”

Su Muluo squeezed the little dragon again, seeing that it was getting late, he got up and took it back to his bedroom.

When he first raised this little dragon, he tried putting it in a water tank and also on a soft blanket—however, every time he went to sleep, the little black dragon would crawl into his bed and stick to him, wanting to sleep together.

At first, Su Muluo was afraid he might accidentally crush the dragon while sleeping. Later, he found that the scales of the little black dragon were tough and couldn’t be easily crushed, so he let it be.

During rest time, Su Muluo lay in bed and placed the little black dragon beside his pillow, patting its head and saying, “See you tomorrow.”

The little black dragon replied with a soft sound.

He hugged his phoenix tightly.

Su Muluo smiled, raised his hand, and extinguished the candlelight.

It was supposed to be an ordinary night. The next morning, the little black dragon should have been by his pillow when Su Muluo woke up… However, when Su Muluo actually woke up, something was wrong.

There was an extra weight in his arms.

At the same time, the little black dragon by the pillow was gone.

“…”

Su Muluo seemed to realize something, slowly lowered his head, and saw a person lying in his arms.

It was a black-haired youth, gripping Su Muluo’s clothes and sleeping soundly, clinging to him.

He had a cute and soft little face, with two small horns on top… He looked somewhat familiar.

Su Muluo: “…………”

The clan leader’s pet mud loach finally took human form after many years, stunning all the phoenix tribe members.

They all came to the clan leader’s small building to see the youth hiding behind the clan leader. Some pinched his cheeks, others touched the small horns on his head, marveling at him.

The youth was named “Long Ling” by Su Muluo, and he tightly held Su Muluo’s hand while being surrounded by the phoenix tribe members, his face tense—not because he was unhappy, but because he was nervous.

“Oh my goodness,” Frost Moss exclaimed with joy, “Yesterday he was just a little loach, and today he looks like this—can the little guy speak?”

Little Long Ling glared at him.

Frost Moss: “Whoa! Why are you glaring at me!”

“It’s because you used to bully him every day,” Red-clothed Ying Shu pushed him aside, took out a soft ruler, and smilingly measured Little Long Ling, “Come on, let sister measure you and make a few sets of new clothes for you.”

Su Muluo’s small building was lively all day. By nightfall, the phoenix tribe members gradually returned home.

Su Muluo held Little Long Ling’s hand, occasionally looking down at the youth, and led him to another bedroom in the small building.

“You’ll sleep here from now on,” Su Muluo said, “If you’re afraid of the dark, we can leave the candle unlit.”

Little Long Ling: “……”

Upon hearing this, Little Long Ling looked up, his dark golden eyes staring at Su Muluo without blinking.

Feeling the softness of the dragon he had raised, Su Muluo smiled and said, “What’s wrong?”

Softly, Little Long Ling asked, “I want to sleep with the phoenix.”

Su Muluo hesitated briefly before saying, “But now that you’ve become human, you have to sleep on your own.”

“Why do I have to sleep on my own just because I’ve become human?” Little Long Ling said unhappily, “I used to sleep with the phoenix before.”

Before Su Muluo could respond, Little Long Ling pounced on him and hugged his waist —

And then he looked up at him, his eyes pleading.

Not a word spoken.

But particularly cute.

Su Muluo: “……”

Su Muluo softened suddenly and smiled, “Alright, just for tonight. Tomorrow, you’ll have to sleep on your own.”

Little Long Ling nodded, burying his face into Su Muluo’s embrace and nuzzling against him.

The phoenix had a fragrant scent.

He thought to himself.

He wanted to hold onto the phoenix forever, never letting go again.

With this thought in mind, Little Long Ling grabbed onto Su Muluo’s clothes like a clingy little tail, sticking close to him as they walked into the bedroom.

Several years later.

The phoenix clan had long been extinct, and the once prosperous realm was now desolate. Su Muluo leaned against the window of a small building, eyes lowered in contemplation.

His hair fell gently on his face—after years of careful nurturing by Longling, the once rough white hair had regained its luster, shimmering like silver, imbued with the soft glow of the moon.

Longling approached silently, draping a coat over his phoenix, saying, “Phoenix, it’s chilly by the window. Let’s go inside.”

Su Muluo looked at him, nodded, and took Longling’s hand, returning with him indoors.

Sitting by the bedside, Longling gently warmed the slightly cold fingers of his phoenix in his palms, saying, “Everything is ready. Whenever the phoenix wishes, we can slip into slumber.”

Su Muluo remained silent, lifting his gaze to look at his dragon without blinking.

Longling knew what he was thinking and smiled, saying, “It’s alright. Even if we sleep, I will still be beside the phoenix—after many years, whether I or the phoenix breaks free first, we will see each other.”

“But by then, both of us will have lost our memories,” Su Muluo said softly, “Even if we can see each other, we might not recognize who we are.”

Longling replied, “That won’t happen. Even if we forget, the phoenix will surely know I am your dragon, and I will know you are my phoenix.”

Finishing his words, he gently touched Su Muluo’s forehead, his voice low and tender, “Our souls have long been intertwined, inseparable. So no matter how many years pass, our love will not fade, and we will recognize each other at a glance.”

Su Muluo listened to his dragon’s gentle reassurance, watching those dark golden eyes full of affection. His initially restless heart was slowly calmed, and he leaned closer to Longling, nuzzling against him.

“You’re right,” he replied, holding Longling’s hand and smiling softly, “After we wake from our slumber, we will definitely still be together.”

A gentle breeze brushed through the small building as Su Muluo rested in Longling’s embrace, imprinting the image of his dragon slowly in his heart… He closed his eyes slowly.

In the long slumber that followed, spanning thousands of years, as long as his dragon was by his side, he could endure.

And after a thousand years… when one of them opened their eyes, the long separation would come to an end, welcoming a new reunion.

Separation was only temporary; they would always be together, until forever.

Chapter 93

Pei Jingrong’s move was so sudden that no one else had time to stop him.

Zhan Weiguang subconsciously took two steps forward.

Zhan Pengcheng felt that he had hit Pei Qing hard and felt somewhat guilty. Seeing Pei Jingrong’s move, he could not help but move his body. Unfortunately, before he could stand up, Pei Jingrong had already punched Pei Qing in the face.

And Grandma cried ‘Oh my’ and tried to stand up by holding the armrest of the sofa. She shook her body twice and was too anxious to stand up. She said, “Why are you hitting him? Don’t hit him! Can’t you talk it out nicely?”

Pei Jingrong pointed at Pei Qing and said coldly, “You’re already a college graduate with a job, and instead of setting a good example, you’re getting involved in all sorts of inappropriate things, dragging your younger cousin along with you! Don’t you know what Yangyang’s situation is? Talking about dating—don’t you find that ridiculous? You’re just deceiving a child!”

Pei Qing’s cheeks were both now red and swollen. He looked up at Pei Jingrong and said nothing.

Pei Jingrong grabbed Pei Qing’s collar with his hand, “Go, apologise to your uncle, apologise to Yangyang! Quit your job here immediately and go back with me!”

Pei Qing spoke; his voice was even more unclear than before, and his accent sounded a little funny, but no one could laugh at this time. He said, “You’ve already mentioned that I’m a graduate with a job, so I can make decisions for my own life.”

Pei Jingrong said angrily, “But you are not qualified to make decisions for other people’s children! Especially a child like Yangyang, who has incomplete intellectual development! Do you think that your uncle and others don’t dare to call the police to arrest you?”

This time, before Pei Qing spoke, Zhan Weiyang suddenly stood up and said, “I’m not an idiot!” His voice was loud, even a little sharp and harsh.

Zhan Pengcheng and Pei Qing shouted at the same time, “Yangyang.”

Zhan Weiyang seemed not to hear. He was very emotional, still shouting sharply, “I’m not an idiot! I’m not an idiot! I’m not an idiot!” He shouted until his voice was almost hoarse, like a frightened and mad little animal, stomping his feet and spinning in place.

At this time, not only Pei Qing and the others, but even Pei Jingrong looked at Zhan Weiyang worriedly, stretched out his hand to hold Zhan Weiyang’s arm, and said, “Yangyang, calm down. No one said you are an idiot.”

Zhan Weiyang refused to let him touch him and asked loudly, “Why can’t I date? Is it because an idiot can’t date, or is it that Zhan Weiyang can’t date?”

Pei Jingrong was speechless for a while.

Pei Qing went forward and hugged Zhan Weiyang, whispering, “No, of course you can date.”

Zhan Weiyang cried. He shed tears while saying, “Then what should I do? Should I just act like an idiot? Am I not being obedient enough?”

Zhan Weiguang looked at them, and suddenly tears welled up, his eyes were red.

Zhan Pengcheng stretched out a hand to Zhan Weiyang and then put it down.

Zhan Weiyang cried so painfully that he could hardly breathe. He opened his mouth and panted as he said, “I won’t swim anymore. I’ll see a doctor and take medicine, okay? I don’t want to be an idiot. I just want to be with Qing ge.”

At this time, Grandma raised her hand and wiped the tears from her face.

Zhan Pengcheng broke down, held his head with his hands, and squatted on the ground.

Pei Qing picked up Zhan Weiyang and said to him, “Let’s go back to the room to rest, okay?”

Zhan Weiyang hugged Pei Qing’s shoulders, still crying hard.

Pei Qing held him and walked towards the stairs. Everyone looked at him in a daze, and no one stopped him.

As they went to the second floor, Pei Qing carried Zhan Weiyang back to his room, gently put him on the bed, removed his slippers, covered him with a quilt, and adjusted the air conditioner to a suitable temperature.

Zhan Weiyang’s face was full of tears. Pei Qing lay on the bed and pulled a tissue to help him wipe his face.

“Am I an idiot?” Zhan Weiyang asked Pei Qing hoarsely.

Pei Qing answered him, “Of course not.” His movements were very light.

At this time, Zhan Pengcheng followed up to the second floor. He stood at the door of Zhan Weiyang’s room without going in, looking inside through the gap left by the door.

Zhan Weiyang said, “They all said I am an idiot.”

Pei Qing said, “They didn’t say that, and you weren’t an idiot in the first place. You just couldn’t communicate with them well.”

Zhan Weiyang’s tears were still flowing, but his voice wasn’t so hoarse anymore. He sobbed and asked Pei Qing, “Why can’t we communicate?”

Pei Qing changed a clean tissue, wiped his tears, thought for a while, and said, “Do you know that when foreigners talk to Chinese people because they can’t communicate well in Chinese, they often make the foreigner look clumsy?”

Zhan Weiyang looked at him very seriously and listened to him, “Really?”

Pei Qing said, “Yes, in fact, they are not an idiot. When Chinese peoplecommunicate with them in foreign languages, they also think Chinese people sound like an idiot.”

Zhan Weiyang’s moist eyes reflected the flickering light, but his tears didn’t continue to flow.

Pei Qing smiled, but the injury on his face was pulled when he smiled, and he grimaced in pain. He continued, “So you are not an idiot; it’s just that they don’t understand you, and actually, they are an idiot too.”

Zhan Weiyang said, “But I have brain damage.”

“No,” Pei Qing said, “Didn’t you drown when you were swimming as a child? But you are a fortune tree; how can you be afraid of water?”

Zhan Weiyang opened his eyes wide.

Pei Qing said, “Look at all the flowers, plants, and trees on the balcony. How much water will enter when it rains? They never get sick because of drowning; how can you?”

       Zhan Weiyang felt enlightened.

Pei Qing gently tapped Zhan Weiyang’s head with his finger, “My Yangyang is born different. You are a fortune tree that needs water for irrigation, so there must be obstacles in communicating with ordinary people. People don’t understand trees, and trees don’t understand people, but this tree has many, many ideas in its head. It is the smartest tree in the world.”

       Zhan Weiyang asked, “Am I?”

Pei Qing smiled and said, “Otherwise, why can’t other trees understand me? Only you can understand?”

Zhan Weiyang opened his arms and hugged Pei Qing tightly. He said, “I’m so happy!”

Pei Qing didn’t care about the pain of the wound on his face, hugged him tightly with her arms, and said, “Well, Yangyang finally figured it out.”

       Zhan Weiyang said, “Yeah.”

Pei Qing said to him, “That’s why you are the smartest fortune tree.”

       Zhan Weiyang nodded vigorously.

Zhan Pengcheng quietly stepped back and reached out to close the door. He turned around and wanted to go downstairs, but he saw Zhan Weiguang standing at the stairs, looking at him.

Zhan Weiguang’s face still showed obvious traces of tears. He said to Zhan Pengcheng, “I’m sorry.”

Zhan Pengcheng was stunned momentarily and said, “Why are you saying sorry?”

Zhan Weiguang said, “It’s all because of me.”

Zhan Pengcheng understood what he meant, so he walked towards him and hugged him. It was then that Zhan Pengcheng suddenly realised that his eldest son was already taller than himself.

“Dad,” Zhan Weiguang said, “give Yangyang a bit of confidence. He really isn’t completely clueless. Why not try just once and listen to what he and Qing ge have to say?”

Zhan Pengcheng nodded tiredly, “I understand.”

He let go of Zhan Weiguang and walked downstairs.

Grandma was still crying in the living room, and Auntie Luo was sitting next to her and trying to persuade her.

And Pei Jingrong stood at the door, looking outside with a serious expression.

Zhan Pengcheng walked over and said to Pei Jingrong, “Yangyang is not very stable. Let’s talk about this later. So let’s stay and have lunch together later?”

Pei Jingrong turned around and said to him, “My morning meeting has been temporarily adjusted to the afternoon. I have other arrangements at noon, so I won’t disturb you.”

Zhan Pengcheng did not force him to stay either.

Pei Jingrong was silent for a moment and said, “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to hurt Yangyang.”

Zhan Pengcheng said, “I know. I might be the one who hurt him in the beginning. You don’t need to worry about it.”

Pei Jingrong didn’t know what to say for a while, nodded and walked out the door.

Why have I been so diligent recently? Because my back is uncomfortable. Whether I’m lying down or leaning on the bed, it doesn’t feel good, so I sit for a while, stand for a while, and continue writing when I have nothing else to do.

Chapter 41

The slender fingers that entered his body were like dexterous snakes, twisting and turning inside his body, going deeper and deeper. Then came the second one, and then the third one. The sphincter gradually opened as it continued to expand, adapting to the shape of the intruder. The originally tight corridor was also stretched open, getting used to every thrust and withdrawal of the other. The body began to feel thirsty during such conditioning as it ignited little bits of desire, burning under the skin and spreading to every inch.

       Want, more.

The brain shut down all functions used for rational thinking, leaving only a body succumbing to carnal desires.

Thinking of nothing, caring for nothing, only following the commands of that man, feeling his presence, and accepting his possession. Only that person could induce the most primitive animal nature in his body, only that person could let him completely surrender himself, and only that person could save him from the monstrous flames of this prairie fire and give him final relief.

That was the only person he could trust with his life and trust wholeheartedly.

Under Chu Yichen’s manipulation, all the senses in Chu Yunhan’s body seemed to have awakened, becoming extremely sensitive. When the man’s fingertips touched the sensitive spot on the inner wall, he began to moan.

The sound of his ‘aahn’ was soft and wavering, ringing non-stop in the basement, intensifying desire’s catalysis. Soon, he fell into the tide of desire. His legs became weak, and his hands began to lose strength. His muscles became stiff, but he managed to maintain his posture. When the expansion was over and the thick di-do with lubricant was slowly pushed in, he groaned and shuddered. If his genitals were not tightly restrained by Chu Yichen’s hand, he would have ejaculated.

“Stand up.” The man ordered as the di-do was pushed to its deepest point.

Chu Yunhan obeyed with difficulty, his movements slow and clumsy. The di-do buried deep in his back hole changed angle as it moved, squeezing the glands, sometimes lightly and sometimes hard. It felt tingling and numbing as if he were roasting himself over a fire, half-cooked, and wishing he could add a handful of wood to the stove, pour a jug of wine on it and just burn himself through.

When he fully straightened up, he realised that his waist was sore and aching. The lying action just now put too much pressure on the waist, and Chu Yichen has obviously taken this into consideration. As an excellent dom, one must not only consider the physical load on the sub but also control the rhythm. The man who knew this well took a restraint and fastened it on his c0ck. Only then did Chu Yunhan discover that there was a hidden opening in the front part of the thong. After opening the small zipper, the c0ck could be completely exposed.

What a pervert… Designing something like this… What’s the difference between wearing this and not wearing it…

       He cursed secretly.

In fact, there was still a difference. In addition to adding fun, this kind of underwear also has a rope-binding effect, which could adjust the tightness and increase friction, giving the sub a feeling of being restrained.

However, Chu Yunhan had no time to think about this now. His attention was drawn to what the man was putting on his c0ck.

This restraint consisted of three interlocking leather loops connected to each other. The front one was fastened into a groove under the umbrella-shaped shaft, which could be tightened to keep his desire securely inside his body. A metal wire was also hanging from the leather ring, from which hung a bell pendant. He was just wondering why the bell was made in such a shape when he saw Chu Yichen add two small silver balls the size of a quail’s egg on the thin line hanging from the bell, not knowing what material it was made of. It was small but quite heavy, and it directly dropped the originally raised c0ck downwards, like a tree branch bent by a fruit.

Chu Yichen squatted down and carefully adjusted the leather band. Seeing Chu Yunhan frowning, he asked, “Does it hurt?”

He shook his head and saw the c0ck between his legs that was stretched so hard that he could hardly lift his head. He said pitifully, “It feels a bit uncomfortable… Master, can you not use this…”

The man curled his lips, shook the two remaining balls in his hand and said, “Want to add another one?”

“…I was wrong.” Chu Yunhan took a long breath of resignation and became obedient.

Next, Chu Yichen put a blindfold on him.

The world suddenly turned into a void of darkness. All the objects used to determine the direction no longer existed, and everything became unknown and difficult to perceive. He was a little anxious and called out, “Master?”

“I’m here.” The man stroked the side of his face, and his warm and dry palm became his connection with the world, calming him down.

“Slave, tell me why your body is so excited?”

“…I don’t know.” His cheeks were slightly red.

“You will be punished for lying.” Chu Yichen’s deliberately lowered voice was like a cello with a subtle sex appeal. Especially when it was for teasing and flirting, and Chu Yunhan couldn’t resist at all. The man’s hand rubbed his chest, making the two small bulges that were tightly wrapped in the material more erect, “Do you like me touching you?”

“…I like it.” He pursed his lips and replied softly.

       “How about this?”

Before he finished speaking, his nipples were pinched and pulled hard, causing Chu Yunhan to hum. His chest felt ached and tingled, and there was also a slight itching from the friction, which made him take a long breath unbearably and reply tremblingly, “I like it.” Then he added, “As long as Master likes it, I will like it too.”

A chuckle fell gently like a feather on the water, breaking the calm and making waves. “It makes me happy that you’ve been so good.” The man stroked his Adam’s apple and said, “I’ll reward you. What do you want?”

Chu Yunhan, already aroused and hungry, blurted out, “Hold me, please…”

“Hold you, like this?” The tone was flirtatious.

Then he felt a tightening around his waist and an arm half wrapped around him, hugging him. Chu Yunhan pursed his lips and whispered, “Not like this…”

       “What do you want then?”

This was clearly forcing him to say it himself. Chu Yunhan’s face was burning red, so embarrassed that his head felt like it was about to burst from the rush of blood. Finally, he managed to squeeze out a few words, sounding as faint as a mosquito’s buzz, “Please…fvck me…”

As soon as the words came out, the anal opening behind him was pressed, and the di-do clamped in the tunnel suddenly hit the gland hard. A burst of electric-like pleasure flew through the body, and he said, ‘Ah-nhg’ He couldn’t help but shudder as he made a sound, and the erect c0ck between his legs was stimulated to the point of secreting clear pre-cum.

There was a smile in the man’s voice as he said, “Your bottom mouth is full. How can I use it?”

The feeling of burning with desire but not getting what she asked for made Chu Yunhan go crazy. He gasped softly, “Spare me, I can’t stand it anymore…”

“Slave, if you can walk from here to my room without anything inside falling out, I will satisfy you.”

Hearing these words, he almost cried and called out sadly, “Master…” Before he could beg for mercy, his lips were covered. Chu Yichen kissed him gently, put a leash on his collar, and said, “I will hold you and always be by your side.”

The Master’s order cannot be violated, and…this kiss and these words were so gentle that they could kill him. Trapped in this tender web, Chu Yunhan sighed inwardly, forced himself to tighten his hole to hold the thick di-do, and replied resignedly, “Understood, Master.”

The walk from the basement to Chu Yichen’s room was not long, and he was familiar with this place. He thought that even if he were blindfolded and had a di-do inserted, he would be able to reach his destination accurately and quickly.

Only when he really started walking did he realise how naive he was.

He didn’t know what skills other doms had, but Chu Yichen’s methods and tricks really made people want to die and couldn’t stop.

Although Chu Yunhan knew that he would not meet anyone else along the way, he still instinctively felt ashamed when he walked out of the room dressed like this. The di-do inserted in his back hole was rubbing and grinding inside the body while walking, constantly bullying the poor flesh walls and glands, making him rise and fall on the waves of desire. What he didn’t expect was that the most tormenting thing was the little things hanging on the front of his c0ck. The small ball hanging on the thread would sway back and forth due to the swing of the body, and his c0ck would tremble and tremble as it was pulled on it. Soon, it would enter a fully erect state, but the ring would tightly restrain it, and he couldn’t ejaculate even half of it.

Chu Yunhan was walking and stopping; his tense body was trembling all the way. He knew very well that this kind of physical abuse was part of BDSM, and he knew very well that Chu Yichen was controlling the rhythm so that he wouldn’t end things prematurely by getting too excited. So even though it was hard, he persisted. This kind of obedience never comes from coercion, never comes from passivity, but from his own choice.

Now he understood the meaning of the sentence, ‘The Master’s rights come from the slave’s giving’. He chose to obey because in such a game, he wanted to let the other person get the same pleasure and make the other person happy.

When going upstairs, the di-do slipped out a little after relaxing once. Chu Yunhan called out in panic, “Master…”

“I’m here.” The man responded to him almost instantly, caressing his hair, and said softly, “Slave, you did a good job. There is still one more step. Can you hold on?”

He nodded. He grabbed the handrail of the stairs and continued upward in the direction of the traction rope. Finally, when he walked up the last step, he couldn’t help but whimper and arch his body slightly, and the thing tightly clamped in his body slipped to the ground. Before the depressed and plaintive ‘I was wrong’ could be said, the body was picked up from the waist and laid on the man’s shoulder.

       “Master!” He was surprised.

Chu Yichen didn’t say anything but hugged him and quickly walked into the room, then threw him on the bed, covered him and pressed him down, his slightly hoarse voice tinged with lust. “Slave, spread your legs. It’s my turn to satisfy you.”

Chapter 30 – Wan Lizhou, Your Handsome Golden Father

Gu Lizhou handed the menu back after ordering. “I’m done.”

Zhong Weishi had been to this restaurant quite a few times and was already familiar with the menu. He quickly checked off several dishes on the order sheet in less than half a minute.

Gu Lizhou felt that the dishes he picked matched his personality—fast and fiery.

Spicy pork intestines, stir-fried chicken in soy sauce, spicy crayfish, dry pot ribs… Basically, everything looked like it would be heat-inducing.

In contrast, Zhong Weishi thought the dishes Gu Lizhou ordered looked like vegetarian meals straight out of a temple.

Vegetable and tofu soup, stir-fried broccoli with garlic.

Was this the taste of a health-conscious man?

He even suspected that Gu Lizhou was worried he couldn’t afford the meal and was trying to save money for him.

“You’re on a diet ah?” Zhong Weishi asked.

“Do I need to lose weight with this figure?”

Zhong Weishi recalled the abs and long legs he had glimpsed when returning clothes last time.

There was indeed no need.

When the lady boss came over to collect the menu, Zhong Weishi was about to order a bottle of soju, but Gu Lizhou stopped him.

“Are you crazy!? You still have injuries, and you want to drink?”

“Oh,” Zhong Weishi changed his request, “then get me two bottles of Globe Trekker!”

“…” Gu Lizhou turned to the lady boss and said, “Two cans of coconut juice.”

“Two bottles of Globe Trekker and two cans of coconut juice?” the lady boss confirmed.

Gu Lizhou: “No, just the coconut juice.”

Zhong Weishi propped his chin on his hand. “Beer counts as alcohol ah? It barely has any degrees.”

“You want degrees, huh?” Gu Lizhou pointed at a kettle on the cashier’s counter. “Boiled water, 100 degrees. Go boil it yourself.”

Zhong Weishi: “…”

The lady boss chuckled. “Your brother is just looking out for you.”

“He’s not my brother.”

“I’m his father.”

Both blurted out at the same time, ushering in a long silence from the lady boss.

“You had a child quite early ah.”

Zhong Weishi: “…”

Gu Lizhou threw his head back and slammed the table, laughing uncontrollably.

It was peak dining hour, and the dishes were served one after another.

One was slow and methodical, while the other was like raining chopsticks.

Zhong Weishi was used to eating with Qiangzi and the others like like a hungry tiger pouncing on its prey, so he never thought there was anything wrong with his table manners. But sitting alone with Gu Lizhou, the difference became clear.

When he finished sweeping a bowl of rice, the one across from him had only peeled two crayfish.

After polishing off two bowls of rice, he pushed his favorite pork intestines toward over. “Eat ah, eat ah. You haven’t eaten since this morning, right?”

Gu Lizhou pointed at the dish. “Do you know what that thing used to be filled with before it went into the pot?”

“Shit. So what?”

Gu Lizhou silently scooped up a spoonful of rice.

“It’s not like it wasn’t washed.” Zhong Weishi popped a few more pieces into his mouth. “It’s really good. Try it.”

Gu Lizhou shook his head like a rattle drum.

“The pork intestines are their signature dish! Trust me!” Zhong Weishi picked up a piece and placed it in Gu Lizhou’s bowl.

“I’m not eating it. It smells like poop.” Gu Lizhou immediately put it back into Zhong Weishi’s bowl.

“It’s this flavor that makes it delicious!” Zhong Weishi went as far as pouring some of the sauce over his rice and mixing it in.

Gu Lizhou held his head, unable to keep watching.

“Pretentious.” Zhong Weishi gave him a glance.

The meal dragged on for quite a while, mostly because Zhong Weishi was fooling around, talking about how vile that eunuch character was, then about the rich woman investigating her husband.

“That woman is really pitiful. Her kid is already seven, and her husband is out there fooling around with women using her money. If it were me, I would’ve skinned his face off. Imagine how disappointed that kid will be when he grows up and finds out what kind of man his dad is ah.”

Gu Lizhou had always found family drama the most exhausting topic. Just listening to it made his head hurt. “Bottom line, stay out of these messy situations. If you get into trouble again, it’s useless to call me.”

Zhong Weishi completely missed the underlying message in his words and just grinned. “I won’t la.”

By the time this dinner was over, it was already dark.

Gu Lizhou had originally planned to find a dessert shop nearby and buy Zhong Weishi a small cake as a gesture, but the guy’s stomach was so stuffed he could barely bend down.

“No more, if I eat anything else, I’m really going to throw up.” Zhong Weishi held his belly with one hand, walking like a pregnant woman.

Gu Lizhou couldn’t stop laughing at the side. “Who told you to eat so much?”

“Well, you didn’t say you weren’t gonna eat when we ordered. Then when the food came, you wouldn’t eat this, wouldn’t eat that. What was I supposed to do? Let it go to waste?” Zhong Weishi let out another full-bellied burp. “This is the first time I’ve seen a guy eat so little. Haven’t you been starving since this morning? What did you even eat, cat food?”

Gu Lizhou was still laughing. “Well, at least I finished everything I ordered. Eating too much at night isn’t good.”

“That’s because you old people need to take care of yourselves. We young people need to load up on energy.” Zhong Weishi lifted his shirt, took a deep breath, and slapped his stomach. In an instant, his abs snapped back into eight-pack abs. “Look at this. Impressive, huh?”

Gu Lizhou was already laughing so hard he was slumped over. “Who the hell wants to see that ah?”

“But you did look.” Zhong Weishi pointed at his stomach. “Isn’t it cool? Flat or sculpted, I can switch at will.”

“Lunatic.” Gu Lizhou felt like his mouth was cramping from laughing too much. Zhong Weishi was a fvcking god.

The god in question realized he’d eaten way too much tonight and suggested walking back to the apartment to digest. Gu Lizhou didn’t refuse.

The night was hazy, the air carrying a lingering warmth. The Mid-Autumn Festival was approaching, and the moon in the sky was growing rounder.

Under the streetlights, their shadows stretched and shrunk with each step.

Maybe it was because dinner had been too satisfying, but for the first time, Zhong Weishi took the initiative to talk about his childhood—about the orphanage and then about Grandma Zhao’s house.

“Back then, after my little sister and I finished our homework, we’d follow Grandma to rummage through trash bins for plastic bottles. In the summer, we could collect quite a lot in one night.”

Gu Lizhou listened quietly, his mind conjuring up the image of three skinny figures.

“You think my childhood was really miserable ah?” Zhong Weishi turned his head to glance at him.

En.” Gu Lizhou felt like miserable wasn’t even a strong enough word. Just surviving must have been a daily struggle.

Zhong Weishi smiled. “Honestly, it might sound miserable, but we didn’t feel ashamed or anything. We didn’t even have a concept of poverty. Finding an empty bottle made us so happy—because if we collected a hundred, Grandma would buy us popsicles!”

Gu Lizhou’s gaze carefully followed the big guy beside him. He noticed that the corners of his mouth remained slightly upturned as he spoke, a sign that this memory was a good one for him.

His eyes were like cat’s eye gemstones washed clean by the rain—clear, bright, and glimmering.

“Have you ever had ice pop? The kind you snap in half with a ‘crack’?” Zhong Weishi asked.

“Of course ah. I’m not that old, okay?”

“You became my Dad and still not old?”

“And now you recognize me as your Dad?”

“…”

They walked side by side under the dim streetlights. Passing a small convenience store, they saw a fridge at the entrance packed with all kinds of trendy new ice cream treats.

Zhong Weishi halted, and the lady boss immediately called out, “Hey, little brother. These are all the latest viral ice creams—super delicious. Want to give one a try?”

Zhong Weishi pulled open the fridge door. “Pick one. My treat.”

“Didn’t you say you’re stuffed? You still have room?” Gu Lizhou turned to look at him.

“This is a piss at best.” Zhong Weishi rummaged through the bottom and pulled out ice pop, a frozen treat that practically carried his entire childhood.

Gu Lizhou closed the refrigerator door.

“You’re not having one ah?” Zhong Weishi tore open the wrapper, gripping the bottom of the ice pop.

Gu Lizhou grabbed his fingertips with one hand and held the other end of the ice pop with the other.

“Click.”

“What are you spacing out for? Pay up ah.” Gu Lizhou bit down on his half of the ice pop.

Zhong Weishi grinned and fished a coin out of his pocket.

As night fell, the temperature dropped noticeably, and the wind brushing against their arms carried a slight chill.

The evening breeze lifted the fallen leaves from the ground, taking away the day’s frustrations along with them.

With the taste of their childhood, the two exchanged a smile.

For the first time, Gu Lizhou took a closer look at Zhong Weishi’s features—those captivating, peach blossom eyes, a high nose bridge with a small mole on the tip, and lips still wet and slightly red from the ice pop.

His features were sharp and well-defined. The slightly raised arch of his brows softened the youthful look in his eyes. Combined with the scars on his face, he carried a bit of a roguish air when he wasn’t speaking or smiling. But the moment he did smile, his eyes curved into little crescent moons.

Quite an infectious smile.

When Zhong Weishi turned his gaze forward, Gu Lizhou allowed himself to observe a little more boldly.

He noticed the redness at the edges of the boy’s ears and the way his prominent Adam’s apple bobbed slightly.

The distance from the restaurant to home was quite far. Gu Lizhou remembered sitting in the taxi earlier that day, growing impatient with each red light they hit. But now, after chatting along the way, the giant clock on top of the apartment building came into view before he even realized it.

“We’re here.” Zhong Weishi grinned, spinning the plastic bag in his hand.

En.” Gu Lizhou smiled too, “If you’re here, you’re here, I’m also heading upstairs ah.”

Zhong Weishi nodded, sensing an inexplicable atmosphere settling between them.

This was the first time they had walked home together since knowing each other.

It wasn’t really that long, only a few months, but it felt like they had known each other for years.

By now, they had already figured out each other’s temperaments.

That bloated feeling from dinner had unknowingly disappeared.

Zhong Weishi yawned up at the night sky.

It was a strange yet wonderful feeling.

Like catching the faint scent of lilacs by the roadside when spring arrives, like walking through a small park and having a friendly cat rub against your pant leg, or like breathing in the crisp, clean air at dawn, watching the first streaks of red spread across the sky…

In short, the mood was very good.

Zhong Weishi suddenly laughed while staring at the small advertisements plastered in the hallway. “Hey, do you remember the first time we met here?”

Gu Lizhou paused for a moment, then mimicked his tone from back then. “You put these up?”

Zhong Weishi threw his head back, laughing. “Back then, did you think I was some shady guy?”

Gu Lizhou: “Shady or not, I couldn’t say. But I definitely thought you were a bit retarded.”

“Scram,” Zhong Weishi cursed, then snorted. “I thought you were some rich woman’s sugar baby at first.”

Gu Lizhou smiled and didn’t say anything.

Zhong Weishi froze for a second, thinking he had hit a sore spot. He eyed him suspiciously. “Wait, so is it true? Hey, we’re bros, I wouldn’t judge you. As long as you turn over a new leaf, it’s fine.”

“..” Gu Lizhou considered for a moment before saying, “I only keep people, no one can tie me down.”

What he got in response was a long, drawn-out sound of disgust. “Yi~~~~”

Yi what? You don’t believe me?” Gu Lizhou walked up the stairs at an unhurried pace.

“So have you actually kept someone?” Zhong Weishi pressed on.

“What, you want to try?” Gu Lizhou raised an eyebrow.

Zhong Weishi covered her little heart in fear for a moment, “I’m not the kind of person who just goes along with it.”

“If someone offered you a hundred thousand to sleep with them, would you do it?”

“Just sleep?”

“Do you think it’s possible?”

Some rather inappropriate images flashed through Zhong Weishi’s mind, and his face turned bright red. “I just realized—you have a really dirty mind.”

“But you didn’t say no,” Gu Lizhou said with a grin.

“I don’t give a sleep,”1Written like this in the raw. Zhong Weishi declared stiffly.

“What the hell?” Gu Lizhou nearly choked from laughter.

Zhong Weishi put on a serious face. “I don’t give a sleep.”

Gu Lizhou burst into laughter again. “Brat.” He pushed open his door and stepped inside. “Good night.”

“Oh,” Zhong Weishi waved his hand, ”Good night.”

The door shut, but Zhong Weishi remained standing outside for a while.

Even though it was just a joke, he had seriously considered—for a brief moment—whether ten thousand per night was a good deal.

Maybe it was because the person asking was Gu Lizhou, but the face he automatically pictured belonged to him.

And the answer his brain provided made him feel downright filthy.

Zhong Weishi figured Gu Lizhou probably didn’t believe that “I don’t give sleep.” Even he didn’t fully believe it himself.

But thoughts were just thoughts. A bottom line was still a bottom line.

So where exactly was the bottom line?

Ah, ah, ah, ah—

Anyway, it’s just not allowed!

When he went back inside and prepared to take a shower, a few knocks came from outside the door.

Zhong Weishi put down his clothes and walked toward the door. “Who is it?”

There was no response.

The moment he opened the door, a figure suddenly jumped out from behind the wall with a loud “roar.”

“fvck!” Snapping back to his senses, he lifted his knee and slammed it into the intruder’s thigh. “You fvcking scared the piss out of me!”

Gu Lizhou rubbed his thigh, instinctively glancing at Zhong Weishi’s crotch. “Did you really piss yourself?”

“Roll!” Zhong Weishi tightened his waistband. “What do you want ah?”

“Weren’t you asking for a gift?” Gu Lizhou handed him a newly bought book and patted his shoulder. “Your white moonlight’s autograph. The one and only, ultra-rare, limited edition in the entire universe. Keep it safe.”

Zhong Weishi’s eyes lit up as he took the book and flipped it open. On the title page, in bold gold letters, was a casual yet striking inscription:

To: Little Beast,

Glad you like me. Happy birthday! May your path to stardom be smooth, and may you never forget your original aspirations!

Signed: Your handsome and wealthy dad,

—Wan Lizhou.

Gu Lizhou lowered his gaze to watch him, hands clasped behind his back, chest puffed out—ready to accept the inevitable reaction of a die-hard fan collapsing in joy, crying tears of gratitude, and kowtowing in worship.

His heart pounded wildly, his excitement soaring at the thought of breaking the boundary between reality and fantasy.

In the next second.

He heard the boy’s furious yell: “Gu Lizhou! You, you, you, you, why did you forged his autograph ah! Ai yo—!”

This was reaction #101—completely outside the hundred different scenarios Gu Lizhou had imagined.

His eyes widened in shock, and a breath got stuck in his chest, neither going up nor down. A suffocating wave of disbelief washed over him.

At this moment, shouldn’t he be clutching his hands with trembling fingers, recognizing him at last, then asking for a luck-bringing hug?

This didn’t make sense ah!

Something had to have gone wrong in the process.

Gu Lizhou grabbed the back of Zhong Weishi’s head in a frenzy, his fingertips shaking from urgency. “You, you, look again—really look carefully ah. Wan Lizhou’s personal autograph! Don’t you recognize his handwriting? Look at the strokes, hmm? Doesn’t it feel incredibly familiar…”

Zhong Weishi couldn’t even be bothered to glance at it. Back in the day, he used to forge celebrity autographs and sell them for money. He dares to show this little trick. Did Gu Lizhou think he could just drag his IQ across the floor like this?

Zhong Weishi let out a dry laugh, brushed Gu Lizhou’s arm aside, and said, “Look my ass. Are you brain dead? What kind of author calls their own fan a little beast in an autograph? Give me ten minutes, and I can whip up a dozen of these.”

Gu Lizhou’s expression was like someone who had just choked on a rice dumpling.

Speechless.

He attempted to log into Weibo to prove his identity—only for the system to prompt him with an incorrect password.

The brain-dead fan let out a mocking “Hehe.”

Gu Lizhou had always set his passwords randomly, storing them all in a notebook that he’d left back in B City. Since he had also changed phone numbers, he couldn’t even retrieve the password at the moment.

Taking a deep breath, he tried to salvage the situation. “Wait, just give me a second—let me think ah, let me think…”

“Yeah, right. If you’re Wan Lizhou, then I’m the richest man’s son.” Zhong Weishi felt that this person was simply sick and patted Gu Lizhou’s shoulder. “Go home, wash up, and get some sleep. You can have anything in your dreams.”

The renowned author Wan Lizhou, fell off his horse,2It can also mean had his identity revealed. was so frustrated he felt short of breath, his face heating up. He even considered calling 1203Emergency number in China. for himself.

Meanwhile, Zhong Weishi caught sight of the black gift bag in his hand.

“What’s this ya?”

The plot had completely departed from Gu Lizhou’s initial imagination.

He shoved the bag against Zhong Weishi’s chest with an irritated tone. “You know damn well.”

Zhong Weishi grinned and pulled out the item inside.

A rectangular, elegantly packaged gift box—silver-gray wrapping, a deep blue satin ribbon tied into a bow at the top left corner.

When he opened the package, Zhong Weishi gave a surprised “wow”, which was expected by Gu Lizhou.

With his hands still casually clasped behind him, he asked in an offhand manner, “Do you like it?”

“Love it!” Zhong Weishi ran his fingers over the smooth watch face, “Super like it!”

The corner of Gu Lizhou’s mouth lifted slightly. Finally, the stifled feeling in his chest eased up a little. “Then try it on.”

Zhong Weishi carefully lifted the watch from the box. “This is actually the first time in my life I’ve ever worn a watch!”

“Is it?” Gu Lizhou raised an eyebrow.

Zhong Weishi rotated his wrist, showing off his new gift from every angle. “What do you think? Do I look like an elite businessman now?”

Gu Lizhou burst out laughing. “You look like a lunatic. You might as well go model for a TV shopping ad.”

Zhong Weishi immediately slipped into an advertisement tone: “Eight-star, eight-arrow diamond inlay—crafted to withstand the test of time! And today, not for 3,999, not for 2,999, not even for 1,999—only 999!”

Gu Lizhou collapsed onto the couch, laughing so hard his shoulders shook.

The two of them huddled together, studying the manual for a while before setting the time properly.

Zhong Weishi admired the watch over and over, unable to put it down. He was beyond pleased.

There were times on set when he couldn’t have his phone on him—now, with this watch, it would be so much more convenient.

“I finally have a watch.” Zhong Weishi raised his arm. “Don’t I look extra classy?”

Anyone who gives a gift hopes they can poke the other person’s fancy, and seeing his joyful little expression, Gu Lizhou felt his heart melt just as much as Zhong Weishi’s.

The failed identity reveal has long been thrown to the sky.

The two of them sat on the couch watching TV for a while until Zhong Weishi suddenly nudged Gu Lizhou’s arm. “Quick, ask me what time it is.”

“Psycho!” Gu Lizhou laughed, but still played along. “What time is it?”

Zhong Weishi lifted his wrist, pinched the watch face between his fingers, and put on an expression of deep solemnity. “22:39.”

After a while.

“Ask what time it is again.”

“…”

Chapter 29 – I Know I Was Wrong, Just Be Gentle…

During rush hour after work, traffic moved slowly. By the time Gu Lizhou arrived at the police station, it was already past five o’clock.

Zhong Weishi was hunched over the desk, writing a self-reflection like a little kid being punished by a teacher.

Old Li sat nearby, holding a teacup and pointing things out. “Now analyze the potential consequences of this incident in more detail.”

“Oh.” Zhong Weishi couldn’t write his homework. He scratched his ears and cheeks, his face full of frustration and grievance, hoping Gu Lizhou would hurry up and take him away.

This was too fvcking painful!

Old Li tirelessly lectured him on legal knowledge.

“In our country, private detective work is illegal. No individual or organization can investigate others without authorization. Illegally obtaining or selling personal information, tracking details, or communication content is a criminal offense!”

“If the content you filmed somehow gets leaked, it won’t just be a simple fine ah…”

The word “crime” made Zhong Weishi shudder. “I-I-I didn’t, I absolutely didn’t!…”

“Really?” Old Li squinted at him. “Didn’t do it, or just didn’t have the chance yet ah?”

“Absolutely not!!!” Zhong Weishi shouted, raising three fingers. “I swear! If I ever sell that stuff, I’ll never become a big star in my life!”

“As long as you didn’t.” Old Li tapped on the self-reflection paper. “I’m just reminding you—always think twice before you act. Never let greed get the best of you.”

Zhong Weishi nodded fervently.

“Did you finish copying the Eight Honors and Eight Shames I told you to write?”

“N-not yet.”

“Then keep copying.”

“I can already recite it. Do I still have to copy it ah?”

“If you can recite it, then why did you still make mistakes?”

“… Okay.”

Zhong Weishi felt like he was going through a streak of water retrogression1It can also mean bad luck. lately—nothing was going his way.

When Gu Lizhou walked in after paying the fine, a young officer on duty stopped him. “Who are you looking for?”

Zhong Weishi immediately turned his head, eyes lighting up as if he’d seen his savior. His lips curled up slightly, looking just like a Samoyed welcoming its owner.

The corner of Gu Li Zhou’s lips hooked, “I’m looking for my son.”

Zhong Weishi’s “You’re finally here!” got stuck in his throat.

“What’s with the glare? You were calling me so enthusiastically on the phone earlier, and now you don’t want to admit it?” Gu Lizhou chuckled as he walked over, ruffling Zhong Weishi’s hair. “Finished copying yet?”

Annoyed, Zhong Weishi swatted his arm away. “Not yet.”

It was just in time for dinner, and the people in the reception room had already left.

Gu Lizhou’s arm was propped up on the table, he lowered his gaze to see a self-reflection paper written in elementary school handwriting.

Before he could reach for it, Zhong Weishi quickly stuffed the paper into his chest.

Gu Lizhou inexplicably laughed, “The words are written like that, it’s too much effort for me to read them. What’s there to hide?”

Zhong Weishi huffed and firmly wedged the paper between his thighs.

The incandescent bulb overhead was a bit dazzling.

The boy tilted his head and lay sprawled on the desk, continuing to copy the Eight Honors and Eight Shames.

From his posture to the way he held the pen, nothing was correct. A small tuft of hair near his cowlick curled up stubbornly, making his silhouette resemble a drowsy student nodding off in class.

Gu Lizhou placed his palm on the back of his head, trying to smooth down the unruly strand. But the moment he pressed it down, it popped right back up.

A certain someone still didn’t know how to appreciate kindness and looked all sulky. “What are you doing ah? Hands all over me. This is a police station—be careful, or I’ll tell the police uncles that you’re harassing me.”

Gu Lizhou smacked the tuft of hair on his head. Zhong Weishi immediately raised a hand to cover the back of his head while his right hand continued scribbling furiously.

“How much more?” Gu Lizhou leaned in to ask.

Zhong Weishi glanced down and counted, his face full of misery. “Thirty more times.”

Gu Lizhou dragged a chair over to sit beside him and pulled a ballpoint pen from the pen holder.

Only then did Zhong Weishi break into a grin and split the stack of A4 paper, handing him a sheet. “Thanks la!”

Gu Lizhou rested his chin on one hand, twirling the pen effortlessly. “Call me Dad, and I’ll help you copy.”

Zhong Weishi gritted his molars. “Are you addicted to being a father!?”

“Ah.” Gu Lizhou raised an eyebrow. “Just like how you called me earlier on the phone—only, make it a little coy…”

Before he could finish, Zhong Weishi shoved him away. “Roll, roll, roll, roll, roll!”

“Ungrateful son.” Gu Lizhou tapped his pen against Zhong Weishi’s forehead. “Using me and then tossing me aside?”

Zhong Weishi let out an ‘ow.’ “Ow ah!”

“Don’t pretend to be so pitiful. I didn’t even use any force.” Gu Lizhou pinched his chin and threw it towards his side, and found that there were indeed several bloody marks on his right cheek, as if he had been scratched by a cat’s claw.

Gu Lizhou lifted his bangs for a quick look.

His handsome face was miserable.

His skin was red and swollen, his forehead had a bruise, and the spot where Gu Lizhou had just tapped seemed to be right over that bruise.

“She scratched you ah?”

“Yeah. What, you think I just fell on my own ah.” Zhong Weishi turned his face away and rubbed his chin.

“With your IQ? Can’t say for sure,” Gu Lizhou said with a laugh.

Zhong Weishi gave him a blank look, “You just love watching me suffer.”

20 minutes later.

The fifteen copies Gu Lizhou had written were deemed invalid by Old Li on the spot because the handwriting was too neat. He tore them up without hesitation.

Zhong Weishi copied fifteen more times with a sullen face. By the time he finally walked out of the station, he was starving, his stomach practically glued to his back. Only two words echoed in his mind: Deep regret.

Meanwhile, his gloating “Dad” was standing outside the Public Security Bureau, playing on his phone, a bag in his other hand.

Zhong Weishi walked over and glanced down curiously. “What’s that ah? Snacks?”

“Yeah, something good.” Gu Lizhou pocketed his phone. “Here, take it.”

Zhong Weishi took the bag and peeked inside—only to find a bunch of anti-inflammatory medicine and healing ointments.

Before he could even say “thanks,” Gu Lizhou continued, “Can you apply the medicine yourself? If you don’t take care of those wounds, they might scar.”

Zhong Weishi froze in horror. “No way! I’m an idol-style powerhouse actor!”

The little beast was good-looking, but the moment he called himself an idol, Gu Lizhou couldn’t help but laugh. “No way, huh? When has your Dad ever lied to you?”

“… Are you done yet!”

“Nope. Remember to disinfect with antiseptic first…” Gu Lizhou paused, then reconsidered. “Forget it, forget it, forget it. I’ll just do it for you. If your hand shakes and it gets in your eye, you’ll have to go for the egg yolk pie look instead.”

His tone wasn’t exactly gentle—if anything, it was asking for a spanking—but Zhong Weishi still felt his heart turn soft.

He had lived for over twenty years and met all kinds of people, but none were quite like Gu Lizhou—attentive, considerate, easygoing, generous… Even without a job, even with his laid-back attitude, it was these little things that made him feel so reliable.

The name ‘Gu Lizhou’ was the first one that came to mind whenever he felt helpless.

“There are chairs over there.” Gu Lizhou pointed toward a small public park nearby.

But right now, Zhong Weishi felt like food was a bigger priority than medicine.

If he didn’t eat something soon, he might just pass out in the middle of the road. He had been busy gathering intel since noon, running from the hotel to the police station without a single meal. Earlier, he had caught a whiff of a junior police officer’s takeout—steamed rice in a wooden bucket—and nearly started drooling on the spot.

But Gu Lizhou was walking fast, so he had no choice but to keep up.

On a park bench, two figures sat side by side.

Gu Lizhou opened a bottle of antiseptic, carefully checking the instructions and expiration date before pulling out a cotton swab.

“Close your eyes.”

As soon as Zhong Weishi shut his eyes, he felt a large hand push up all his bangs, a warm palm pressing lightly against his forehead.

“Hiss, hiss, hiss—” A cool sensation spread across his skin, making him instinctively jerk back.

“What are you hissing for? I just touched it, I haven’t even pressed it down yet.” Gu Lizhou maneuvered the cotton swab to his other hand, grabbed the back of Zhong Weishi’s head, and pulled him forward. “Stay still.”

“Be gentle ah.” Zhong Weishi kept his eyes closed, feeling insecure about the whole thing. He worried Gu Lizhou wouldn’t control his strength. “Don’t press too hard, just lightly…”

“Afraid of pain? You’re not some little girl that you can’t stand little pain? Didn’t you have plenty of guts when you were secretly taking pictures of people? If you make mistakes, you have to accept the consequences—otherwise, you won’t learn your lesson.”

Zhong Weishi pouted, his tone carrying a hint of pleading. “I know I was wrong, just be gentle…”

Gu Lizhou smirked.

He might have called it punishment, but his hands were trembling as he applied the medicine—especially over the scr4p3d skin, afraid of actually hurting the little friend.

Applying medicine on someone else was much scarier than applying it to himself.

Zhong Weishi kept his right eye shut, but his left eye peeked open just a sliver. Gu Lizhou’s expression was so serious, it looked like he was performing some kind of high-stakes surgery.

Seeing his lips come a little closer, Zhong Weishi was so frightened that he hurriedly closed his eyes.

Warm breath brushed past his cheek to the corner of his eye, and the areas where the antiseptic had been applied felt cool.

He heard the rustling of passersby stepping on dry leaves.

Zhong Weishi smelled a faint scent of mint, like some kind of fruit candy he had eaten as a child.

Gr4p3s or peaches?

With his focus completely elsewhere, the sting of his wounds barely registered anymore.

“Don’t open your eyes ah,” Gu Lizhou said.

Zhong Weishi assumed he was about to put on a bandage. He smiled and obediently murmured, “Oh.”

The next second, he heard the click of a camera shutter—followed by Gu Lizhou’s unrestrained laughter. “Idol-style actor, huh? Basically ugly hahahaha—when you get famous one day, I’m definitely leaking this to your fans.”

“…” Zhong Weishi clenched his fists.

Stay calm.

Murder is illegal.

Huangfu Qiang and the others had all been dragged home by their parents by the ear, undoubtedly facing a round of severe beatings. Their birthday gathering had to be postponed until the solar calendar date instead.

“I’ll just treat you to dinner. What do you want to eat?” Zhong Weishi packed all the medicine back into the bag.

Gu Lizhou: ““Anything.”

Of course, the consequence of saying “anything” was that Zhong Weishi dragged Gu Lizhou into a fly restaurant2Small restaurants that don’t have exquisite but have great taste. It can also mean a cheap, narrow eatery. that looked like it would fail a health inspection.

The walls were stained with grease, but business seemed to be booming. The dozen or so square tables inside weren’t nearly enough to accommodate everyone.

Several shirtless men sat around a table, drinking and smoking with a large pot of lobsters that had been peeled off. Their posture was completely relaxed—short of dragging out lounge chairs.

That table was by far the rowdiest, while the staff ran around, drenched in sweat, trying to keep up.

The enthusiastic lady boss called out, “Sit anywhere and order whatever you want ah. Just call when you’re ready.”

“There, there, there!” Zhong Weishi spotted a couple getting up to leave and immediately shoved Gu Lizhou forward by the shoulders to snatch the spot.

The moment the aroma of food hit, Gu Lizhou’s stomach let out a couple of loud growls.

“You’re hungry too ah?” Zhong Weishi grinned and slid the menu over to him.

“No shit. I haven’t eaten since this morning.” Gu Lizhou said.

“No way…” Zhong Weishi gave him a disdainful look. “You didn’t starve yourself just to mooch a meal off me, did you? You’re really something.”

“You think I’m you ah!” Gu Lizhou raised the menu, ready to smack him on the forehead, but stopped himself just in time.

“I had trouble sleeping last night and woke up late today. When you called, I’d only been up for a little while,” Gu Lizhou explained.

“Insomnia? Why would you have insomnia? Is it an age thing? My grandma seems to have it too.” Zhong Weishi bombarded him with questions.

Gu Lizhou’s hit was as powerful as lightning.

“Ow.” Zhong Weishi rubbed his head and slumped onto the table. “Why couldn’t you sleep ah? Is it because you can’t find a satisfying job?”

Gu Lizhou: “Thinking about how to split you into pieces every day is exhausting.”

Zhong Weishi lay sprawled on the table, laughing uncontrollably.

Chapter 64 – I'm going to beat eggs.

Chapter 64 – I’m going to beat eggs.

Zhao Qiao was brought in and before he could fully grasp the scene inside, Zhao Qi pounced on him in a bear hug.

Zhao Qi vigorously patted Zhao Qiao’s back, “Why did you take so long to come! If you were any later, you could have become an uncle, you know!”

Zhao Qiao endured Zhao Qi’s unprecedented enthusiasm, feeling both honored and surprised, “Your Majesty, I’ve missed you so much. I think of you all the time, even when eating and sleeping!”

Zhao Qiao wasn’t exaggerating; he really did think of Zhao Qi all the time, even during intimate moments with his concubines, eager not to delay the Emperor’s affairs.

“Where’s the physician from Dongying?” Zhao Qi’s face was full of urgency as he asked impatiently, “Where is he?”

“He’s waiting outside,” Zhao Qiao replied.

“Good, you may leave,” Zhao Qi dismissed Zhao Qiao with a slap on the back, “Quick, bring the physician in!”

Upon seeing the physician from Dongying, Zhao Qi felt a mysterious and somewhat pretentious aura coming from him—

The physician was dressed strangely in all black, wearing a black mask (?), with only his dark eyes visible, making it impossible to guess his age or appearance. Zhao Qi felt like at any moment he might fold his hands together, raise two fingers, perform a ninja invisibility technique, and disappear with a “poof”.

Zhao Qi hesitated for a moment, then looked down and confirmed that the physician was indeed male.

The physician bowed deeply to Zhao Qi, showing no sign of the usual nervousness when meeting the Emperor, “This humble one is Meichuan, greeting Your Majesty.”

Zhao Qi personally helped Meichuan up, affectionately saying, “So it’s Physician Mei. We’ve been waiting for you for so long. Quickly, take a look at my belly.” Zhao Qi proactively lifted his clothes, exposing his abdomen to Meichuan.

Meichuan was surprised to find that the Emperor was pregnant, but he knew what to ask and what not to ask. Without much ado, he examined the pulse and felt the belly, coming to a conclusion, “It’s a girl.”

Zhao Qi: “???”

Meichuan: “Your Majesty, this humble one has a unique talent for accurately discerning the gender of babies in pregnant women.”

Zhao Qi: “Your talent doesn’t seem very useful then.” But it could be handy for setting up a fortune-telling stall.

Xiao Jinzi seemed somewhat regretful, “The first one is a princess…”

”What’s wrong with a princess? I quite like girls, a cute little princess… Wait,” Zhao Qi realized he was getting sidetracked by them, quickly steering back, “I didn’t ask you to look at this. Doctor Mei, can you get rid of the child in my belly?”

Doctor Mei Chuan said, “Your Majesty, it’s nearly the fourth month of pregnancy, equivalent to the fifth month for normal women. The fetus is already formed. In another four months, the little princess can be born—Your Majesty, you should consider this carefully.”

The dragon egg in his belly kicked again, and Zhao Qi paused, sitting down slowly on the chair.

At this moment, he realized clearly that there was a small life growing inside him, slowly but surely. He… no, she, perhaps inherited half of his genes, as He Changzhou said. She might look a lot like him, a miniature version of Zhao Qi. To erase a “little Zhao Qi,” he…

Just as Zhao Qi’s determination wavered by one percent, Jiang Dehai’s voice accompanied by a knock interrupted, “Your Majesty, Prince Zhaonan requests an audience.”

Very well, that one percent was gone.

”No need to consider further,” Zhao Qi said decisively, “I’ve made up my mind about this child.”

Mei Chuan nodded, “Please prepare the ink and paper, follow my prescription to gather the medicine.”

Zhao Qi asked, “Is it for a medicinal abortion?”

”Yes,” Mei Chuan said, “The prescription is complex, the preparation process is intricate, and the medicine must be taken promptly after preparation, or its effectiveness will be compromised.”

”When can I have the child removed?”

  ”Around noon tomorrow.”

Zhao Qi hesitated for a moment, “Will it be painful?”

”Your Majesty can imagine cutting out a piece of flesh or a bone from your body—how could it not be painful?”

Zhao Qi persisted, “Isn’t there a painless way?”

  ”…There isn’t.”

Zhao Qi clenched his teeth, “Then please, write down the prescription, Doctor.”

Li Chisu had been waiting outside for a long time. Zhao Qi neither summoned him nor dismissed him, so he could only wait patiently.

Finally, there was movement. Xiao Jinzi came out leading a man dressed in exotic attire. Li Chisu glanced at the man—this attire had distinct Eastern characteristics. Could this man be from Dongying?

”Prince,” Jiang Dehai said, “Your Majesty asks you to come in.”

Li Chisu regained his senses, straightened his clothes, and entered the room.

  ”Your Majesty.”

Zhao Qi looked up at him, his eyes seeming poisoned, as if he wanted to poison him to death.

Li Chisu was of noble status, exceptionally handsome, well-versed in the ways of romance, a dream lover for many men and women in Nanzhou. Now, being looked at with such disgust by the person he most desired and favored, he truly felt hurt. “Have I offended Your Majesty again?”

Zhao Qi never had a good impression of playboys like Li Chisu. Now, forced to carry his child, Zhao Qi saw Li Chisu as fundamentally flawed. He couldn’t even be bothered to curse at him anymore. “What do you want?”

Li Chisu’s tone was slightly serious, “A matter of importance.”

  ”Speak.”

”Your Majesty, although the disaster in Jiangxia is said to be a natural calamity, it is also partly due to human causes. Since the founding of our dynasty, there have been repeated floods and blockages in transportation due to a lack of talented water management officials. Take the current disaster in Jiangxia as an example. Local officials are patching up rather than addressing the root causes. Even if they can temporarily alleviate the disaster, it is by no means a long-term solution.” Li Chisu spoke eloquently, “As the saying goes, to control water, it is better to dredge than to block, and better to divert than to dredge.”

Zhao Qi didn’t expect Li Chisu to bring up something so serious. Last night, he and Xiao Shiqing had discussed this in bed, and Xiao Shiqing had lamented, “Our dynasty lacks a great Yu.”

Zhao Qi looked skeptical, “Do you understand water management?”

Li Chisu smiled, “I don’t, but I know who does.”

  ”Who?”

”This person is a renowned scholar in Jiangxia, living in seclusion on Wumang Mountain outside the city. He is extraordinarily talented in waterways, but he is aloof and refuses to associate with others of lesser caliber. He was a close friend of my late father and taught me for a period when I was young. Your Majesty, if we can persuade him to come down from the mountain, the matter of water management will surely be twice the result with half the effort.”

”Why didn’t you say so earlier?”

”A few years ago, I visited him once and asked why he refused to come down. He said… he said the emperor was incompetent and unworthy of his service.”

”…” Oh, so the blame is on him again.

”Although he is stubborn, I am willing to try on Your Majesty’s behalf to persuade him to manage the water—only asking Your Majesty not to hurry me away too quickly.”

Zhao Qi sneered, “After all that talk, is this what you’re here for?”

”Yes, and no,” Li Chisu said, “I also sincerely wish to share Your Majesty’s burdens.”

Zhao Qi thought for a moment, “If this person is really as capable as you say, even if I have to visit him three times, I will invite him down the mountain.”

”I’ll leave immediately. Your Majesty is the emperor, and there’s no need to lower yourself like this. Besides…” Li Chisu paused, “The road to Wumang Mountain is rugged, and Your Majesty’s current condition is heavy. It’s not suitable for mountain climbing.”

”Rest assured, I won’t be heavy for long.”

Li Chisu was taken aback, “What does Your Majesty mean?”

Zhao Qi said calmly, “The divine doctor from Dongying is here. Tomorrow at noon, he will help me remove the dragon egg.”

Li Chisu fell silent for a moment before asking, “Is Your Majesty really going to do this?”

”If the dragon egg wasn’t yours, I might have hesitated a bit,” Zhao Qi looked down at his belly, which was growing day by day, “Unfortunately, it is yours.”

Li Chisu chuckled, but there was no humor in his eyes, “In that case, I’ve implicated this child. If I were to say that this child isn’t mine, would Your Majesty give him a way out?”

Zhao Qi frowned, “What do you mean?”

The words almost came out, but Li Chisu didn’t say them in the end. Zhao Qi already disliked him so much, if he found out he had lied to him again…

”It’s nothing,” Li Chisu heard himself say, “Since Your Majesty has made up your mind, I have nothing more to say.”

After finishing speaking, Li Chisu was stunned.

Zhao Qi nodded and said, “I permit you to stay in Jiangxia for five more days. Find a way to invite that water management expert you mentioned down from the mountains. If there’s nothing else, you may withdraw.”

Mei Chuan, dressed in foreign attire, coming in and out of the Emperor’s residence naturally caught Fu Zi’s attention. As soon as Xiao Shiqing returned to the inn, Fu Zi reported this matter to him.

Fu Zi asked, “Prime Minister, should I investigate this person’s background?”

Without needing to investigate, Xiao Shiqing already knew that the person was likely the Japanese physician Zhao Qi had invited. However, he wasn’t sure of the extent of the person’s true abilities.

“You say this person was brought by Zhao Qiao?”

“Exactly.”

“…Then we should investigate.”

“Understood.” Seeing Xiao Shiqing’s thoughtful expression, Fu Zi asked, “Prime Minister, do you have any concerns?”

Xiao Shiqing slowly said, “What do you think the Emperor intends by inviting such a physician from afar?”

“Naturally, it’s to ensure a successful childbirth.”

Initially, Xiao Shiqing thought the same, but he began to feel something was amiss. The young Emperor had been by his side, waiting for him to speak or even subtly hinting, but he hadn’t. Could it be that the young Emperor truly intended to deceive everyone?

Moreover, since Zhao Qi had concealed this from him, he probably didn’t want him to know about the child’s existence. After the child was born, he wouldn’t acknowledge him as the father either.

So, what did that make him? The young Emperor took fertility drugs to have a child and sought him out merely for bloodline compatibility, with no connection to the Xiao family?

His thoughts grew increasingly chaotic. Xiao Shiqing forced himself to stop speculating and asked, “How much longer until the person I asked you to find arrives?”

Fu Zi replied, “The journey from Japan to Jiangxia is long. Even without rest, it will take several tens of days round trip.”

“Too long.”

Fu Zi fell silent. Having followed the Prime Minister for many years, this was the first time he clearly sensed his turmoil—Xiao Shiqing was agitated, even somewhat panicked.

Xiao Shiqing closed his eyes. He was afraid he might have to break his promise.

“Keep an eye on the Emperor,” he instructed Fu Zi, “Take note of everything he does and says. Report immediately if anything is amiss.”

“Understood.”

That night, the candles in Zhao Qi’s, Li Chisu’s, and Xiao Shiqing’s rooms burned through the night.

The next day was similarly gloomy. Thick dark clouds rumbled with thunder, oppressive and suffocating.

Zhao Qi sat by the window, staring absentmindedly at the clouds.

A strange, indescribable scent drifted into his nostrils. He turned his head and met Mei Chuan’s eyes peering in from outside. “Your Majesty, the medicine is ready.”

Zhao Qi’s heart tensed. He couldn’t tell whether he was more nervous or scared, but his voice trembled when he spoke, “Bring it in.”

Jiang Dehai closed all the doors and windows. Xiao Jinzi, Cheng Boyan, and others stood before him. Each looked different, yet their expressions and gazes were strangely similar—they were all worried about him.

Zhao Qi glanced at the bowl of medicine. It looked no different from the previous tonic he had taken, but its effects were completely different.

“Physician, are you sure?” Zhao Qi asked anxiously.

Mei Chuan replied, “If something happens to Your Majesty, I won’t leave Jiangxia alive. I won’t risk my life, let alone Your Majesty’s. Please rest assured.”

“What will happen to me after I drink this medicine?”

“You will endure severe abdominal pain for half a day, followed by the expulsion of blood clots.”

Upon hearing the words “blood clots,” Zhao Qi’s already pale face turned even paler. “Damn…”

His dragon’s egg, the dragon’s egg of four months, was about to turn into blood clots…

Jiang Dehai couldn’t bear to hear this and couldn’t help but advise again, “Your Majesty! Please reconsider, Your Majesty—”

Mei Chuan reminded him, “Your Majesty, the medicine must be drunk while hot, otherwise the fetus won’t be expelled cleanly, and Your Majesty will suffer in the future.”

…Damn it, here goes nothing!

Zhao Qi took a deep breath, no longer hesitating. He picked up the bowl of soup and was about to drink it when suddenly a commotion came from outside the door.
