Chapter 8 – I’ll wait for you on a spring day

Chapter 8

15.

The street lamp at the entrance of Li Chou’s apartment stopped working after it rained continuously for a week. There was still a little light in the past few nights, but it was completely dark now. As the night wind blew, it disturbed the green leaves on the trees and made a rustling sound.

In the faint moonlight, Li Chou took out a piece of letter paper, laid it flat on the desk and looked up at the cold moon outside the window. Before he could start writing, he heard Song Zexu sound asleep on the bed behind him.

Before Song Zexu went to bed, Li Chou poured him a glass of milk and now he was sleeping very peacefully. His breathing was a little heavier than before.

After getting along with Song Zexu for so many days, Li Chou found that Song Zexu did not sleep very well. Sometimes he would fall asleep very early, and sometimes it would be late in the night. Even if it was very late at night, he wouldn’t be able to sleep a wink.

The agent told him today that Song Zexu had to drink a glass of milk before going to bed to soothe his nerves, so Li Chou bought the most expensive cow milk in the supermarket.

Unexpectedly Song Zexu actually fell asleep early after drinking it.

In addition to this, the agent also told him that Song Zexu will go back tomorrow and he has already contacted the best eye hospital in the city. This was about his eyes, so he couldn’t afford to drag it on any longer. After all, there’s work to be done.

Song Zexu’s suspension of work for no reason caused there to be an uproar when the studio released the official news and the company was in chaos. Song Zexu was now a top artist for them, if they lost him, it means that the company’s cash cow is gone. The company didn’t dare to call the police, so they could only use their connections as much as possible to find him, but they couldn’t find him.

If Song Zexu hadn’t called his manager, they would have planned to call the police in a few days, fearing that he was killed.

But fortunately, he was fine.

Li Chou said to his agent: “But can you give me half a day tomorrow, I want to take Song Zexu to see the sea.”

The agent thought for a while and replied, “I have no problem with that. Just ask Song Zexu.”

Li Chou said “Yes” and asked Song Zexu after he came back.

Song Zexu hadn’t left the apartment for a long time and he didn’t even remember that he was picked up from the seaside.

Although he didn’t know what the sea meant to Li Chou, Li Chou was his savior after all, so he agreed.

The hot summer wind came in through the window’s tiny gap and fell on Li Chou’s face, finally bringing him a little cool air. Li Chou picked up the pen, buried his head and wrote on the letter paper:

[To Song Zexu:]

It was a long night and Li Chou finished the whole letter, adding a sentence at the end.

[I wish you a safe life.]

After a pause, Li Chou wrote a few more words.

After he finished writing, he folded the letter and stuffed it into the rose red envelope that he thought Song Zexu would like after deliberating on it for a long time from the shelf in the supermarket in the afternoon.

——Because Song Zexu likes red roses.

After putting the letter in, he passed the dried roses he made before.

Finally, he walked out of the bedroom, put the envelope in Song Zexu’s coat pocket in his suitcase and then went back to the bedroom to lay down on the bed.

This is the last night he will be sleeping with Song Zexu.

Li Chou closed his eyes and tapped Song Zexu’s hand tightly for the second time.

For the last time.

16.

Li Chou likes the Sunset Sea during sunset time the most. Just like the name Sunset Sea, the afterglow covers half of the sky, as the orange light reflected on the surface of the sea blended with the dark blue. The waves of the sea came and went as the sea breeze fell lightly, refreshing the heart of the onlookers.

“This place is very comfortable.” Song Zexu looked at the setting sun and said, His eyes were not very sensitive to strong light stimulation and would hurt, but he doesn’t feel that way when looking at the setting sun by the sea. He could see the orange light around the edge of his sight.

“That’s right. I like sitting on the reef at dusk and watching the sea the most.” Li Chou said in a gentle voice, “Summer in Yunzhen is too hot, but with the sea breeze, it is a little cooler.”

Song Zexu gave a soft “Mm” and said regretfully, “It’s unfortunate I can’t see it.”

Li Chou knew what Song Zexu meant. When Song Zexu got his eyes healed, he would go back to work and probably wouldn’t come back to Yunzhen or the sunset sea in Yunzhen. Song Zexu may have seen many seas and he doesn’t care much about this one, so it is impossible he will take the initiative to come back to see the sea again.

Li Chou thought that he had forgotten his own position after a long time.

Li Chou lay back on the reef and there were birds flying by in the sky. He sighed suddenly.

Song Zexu also lay down and he turned to look at Li Chou. As if guessing his worry, he asked with a smile: “What’s the matter?”

Li Chou knew that Song Zexu was asking jokingly, but he still blushed. He looked at Song Zexu, moved his throat, and his voice was hoarse:

“I’m already a very restrained fan. If I become an extreme, I won’t let you go.”

Song Zexu smiled. Without making a sound, he said: “Yes, you are a very qualified fan, I wish that all fans are as sensible as you are.”

After a while, Song Zexu raised his eyebrows and said to Li Chou, “You hid me very well. In fact, the day you rescued me, I was just attacked by some violent people.”

Song Zexu recalled that day and did not feel good. He was going to participate in the recording of a very important program, so he came out of the hotel.

There was a black car parked at the door as usual and he thought it was for an appointment from his assistant, so he got in the car directly.

But as soon as he sat down, someone covered his mouth and he smelled a strange scent before falling unconscious. When he woke up, he found himself thrown into the wilderness. He didn’t know where he was, but there were voices beside him. He laid still, afraid of being discovered by them and then vaguely heard them talk about wanting a certain actor on a show. At that time, he knew that these people were fans of that actor and because he was on the show, that artist would definitely not be chosen.

But Song Zexu didn’t know that artist at all, he only heard from his assistant that the actor’s methods were not savoury and that his hands were not clean in the acting industry.

One of them was sensitive and found out that he woke up before using a hammer to hurt him. When Song Zexu woke up again, he was in the hospital.

Li Chou felt his fingertips tremble a little. He couldn’t imagine that Song Zexu would encounter such a thing, if he hadn’t been looking at the sea that day, Song Zexu, who was thrown there would only be left waiting for the high tide at night, only to be swept away by the sea. How terrible that would’ve been.

How could they take human life so lightly?!

Li Chou felt pained and his heart ached. Song Zexu, whom he liked so much, was treated so badly like this by those stinky maggots. The feeling of suffocation pooled and lingered in his stomach. He wanted to vent, but he didn’t dare in front of Song Zexu.

He could only say in a trembling voice, “Fortunately, you’re safe now.”

Song Zexu was more accepting than him. He closed his eyes and said in a very relaxed voice, “At least they didn’t throw me into the sea directly, leaving me a way out. As long as I am alive, the company will not give up on me. These past few days can be regarded as a vacation for myself, but ah, if I don’t go back, I really won’t be able to catch up with my dreams.”

“But…” Li Chou didn’t know what to say for a while. He only knew that Song Zexu was not a simple person, but did not expect the reality to be so cruel.

Artists are like commodities, if they fail to realize their maximum value, they will be rejected by the industry.

Li Chou closed his eyes, pursed his lips, held his breath, and then slowly let it out. Tilting his head, he wanted to say something to Song Zexu, but when he opened his eyes, he found Song Zexu appears to have fallen asleep.

The birds flew away, leaving only the sound of the waves.

Li Chou moved closer to Song Zexu, so close that he could clearly see a small mole on Song Zexu’s ear. He had never noticed that Song Zexu had a mole on his ear and Li Chou felt a little turmoil in his heart, as if he knew a secret that no one knew.

He thought, maybe among Song Zexu’s fans, he is the only one who knows that he has a mole on his ear and he is the only one who has seen it.

The sun was playing hide-and-seek on the horizon, hiding itself bit by bit. The hot summer day was slowly ending as the hot and dry day turned into the cold air after dusk.

The wind, accompanied by the wet and salty sea breeze, can be clearly heard.

Li Chou’s heart thumped and he pursed his lips, mustering up the courage to approach Song Zexu’s ear. Tentatively but firmly, he opened his mouth amidst the sound of the rolling waves. He said: “Song Zexu, I like you.”

This is the first time Li Chou dared to confess directly, but he was destined not to get an answer.

The only response to Li Chou was Song Zexu’s light breathing after falling asleep.

Chapter 26 – Replica

Chapter 26: Don’t Bother About It

Tan Xilu wasn’t someone who easily got angry, perhaps due to the mistreatment he suffered from his nanny during his childhood. He wasn’t accustomed to displaying his emotions on his face. The reason for this was a severe fever he had when he was younger.

During a dispute with a playmate, his nanny threw him into the basement, a pitch-black place that terrified the young boy.

He spent the entire day there in the unclean and cluttered basement, occasionally hearing the sounds of insects and mice. In this environment, coupled with some psychological effects, Tan Xilu gradually developed hallucinations of his toes being bitten off by rats. He cried in fear, wanting to hide where no one could see him, to find a protective shell. Even when he fell asleep, he was still trapped in fear.

It wasn’t until his nanny remembered him while making dinner that she hurriedly brought him out of the basement. She wasn’t too concerned since the employer was out of town for a few days. However, she didn’t expect that when she finally took Tan Xilu out of the basement, he was delirious, shouting for his parents.

Fearful of the consequences, the nanny rushed him to the hospital. Fortunately, it was only a fever, but this illness changed Tan Xilu. After waking up, he became extremely silent, and his reactions became somewhat sluggish.

During the time his nanny took care of him after her return, Tan Xilu also became very accommodating. Of course, at that time, he didn’t know it was called “accommodating.” He believed it was just being obedient and well-behaved. Only by being like that could he avoid going hungry and being locked in the pitch-black basement.

After his nanny left, he continued to be reticent, always accommodating. It seemed that he had become incapable of getting angry with others. He just knew how to agree with people, even though he was no longer the powerless child who could be thrown into the basement for any disagreement.

So when Li Zhao told him that Xu Huaiming was actually an AI, his first reaction was confusion, not anger.

Li Zhao told him on the phone, “Your boyfriend is fake; he’s not even human. He’s an AI. Don’t stay with him. He’s a fraud.”

Li Zhao’s tone was extremely agitated, as if the person with Tan Xilu was an irredeemable demon. For the sake of Tan Xilu, he wanted to expose the demon’s disguise and show Tan Xilu how hideous that creature was beneath the surface.

But after two minutes of Li Zhao’s fervent speech, Tan Xilu responded with a harsh laugh. He asked, “Did my mother pressure you into this?”

The flickering orange flames danced in the night, and Li Zhao absentmindedly tapped the ash off his cigarette. It was only then that he realized he had said so much, only for Tan Xilu to view it all as an excuse from his mother to push him into marriage. He didn’t believe for a moment that Xu Huaiming was a fake.

Li Zhao extinguished the cigarette in his hand, took a deep breath, and asked Tan Xilu, “You don’t believe me, do you?”

Of course, Tan Xilu didn’t believe him. Li Zhao’s words were too exaggerated, too false. He had spent so much time with Xu Huaiming, how could he possibly believe that Xu Huaiming wasn’t human? They had shared so many moments together, so many kisses. The sensation of skin against skin was so real; how could it be fake?

Tan Xilu’s tone wasn’t too friendly as he replied, “I know my mom wants me to settle down, and she really likes you. But you don’t have to go so far as to make up such things. I don’t know what interests you about me, but I’ve been very clear with you—I have a boyfriend. If you’re trying to slander my boyfriend just to achieve your goals, then I don’t think we have anything more to discuss.”

As he finished speaking, Tan Xilu saw Xu Huaiming, who was holding a glass of milk, standing in the doorway of the bedroom. The bedside lamp cast a faint light, illuminating Xu Huaiming’s face. He didn’t show much emotion, but his mysterious, dark eyes gave a strong sense of security.

Tan Xilu waved to him, and Xu Huaiming obediently came over.

The call was still connected, and Li Zhao heard Tan Xilu ask Xu Huaiming, “Do you love me, Xu Huaiming?”

Xu Huaiming knelt on the bed, looking at Tan Xilu. Honestly, he didn’t understand why Tan Xilu suddenly asked this question. But human thoughts were something he could never fully grasp. He shouldn’t love Tan Xilu; Professor Bowen had told him it was all an illusion, a feeling created by the system.

However, as the seventh body double, he should love him. He had no other choice. So he replied, “Of course, I love you.”

Tan Xilu then asked, “Would you lie to me?”

Xu Huaiming answered, “No, I wouldn’t.”

He told a lie because his very existence was a lie. But this lie was met with a smile from Tan Xilu, who then said to Li Zhao on the phone, “You hear that? He wouldn’t lie to me.”

With that, the call ended.

Just like you could never wake up someone pretending to sleep, Li Zhao knew he needed evidence. Mere words wouldn’t convince Tan Xilu. He had to figure something out.

Tan Xilu lay in Xu Huaiming’s arms, and Xu Huaiming held his waist gently, stroking his belly like petting a kitten. Tan Xilu was texting his mother, saying, “[Mom, I already have a boyfriend.]”

He had to tell his mother. He couldn’t let her continue like this, for the sake of Xu Huaiming and for his own sake.

His mother usually had a regular bedtime, always falling asleep by nine o’clock. Unexpectedly, tonight was an exception. As soon as Tan Xilu sent the message, his mother called him.

“Son, have you finally come to your senses? You want to be with Xiao Li now? Let me tell you, this Xiao Li is really great. He came to visit me a few days ago. Your dad is so useless; he can’t even lift groceries. Xiao Li brought them up for me…” As soon as the call connected, Tan Xilu’s mother started rambling, praising Li Zhao.

“Mom…” Tan Xilu interrupted her, afraid that if she continued, he would die on this bed tonight. He stopped her in time. “Mom, my boyfriend… isn’t Li Zhao.”

His mother was taken aback. She sat up straight in bed, a serious expression on her face. “Not Li Zhao? Then who is it? Oh? Is it that Xiao Lin? Xiao Lin is good too; his academic abilities are excellent. Your dad even attended one of his lectures.”

Tan Xilu pinched his forehead, feeling a headache coming on. “It’s not him either…”

His mother asked, “Huh? Then who is it? You, my child, why did you secretly find someone without telling me?”

“It’s…” Tan Xilu hesitated, trying to find a gentle way to explain that wouldn’t make his mother angry. But then he realized that even if he were gentle, his mother would still scold him. In any case, whether he died early or late, he was going to die, so he decided not to beat around the bush anymore. “It’s Xu Huaiming.”

Tan Xilu paused and added, “He’s back, and we’re back together.”

There was silence on the other end of the phone for a long time. Tan Xilu thought his mother had hung up until Xu Huaiming took the phone from him and called out, “Auntie, I’m Xu Huaiming, Ah Lu’s boyfriend.”

Only then did Tan Xilu finally hear his mother’s voice again. She didn’t respond to Xu Huaiming but turned to Tan Xilu and said, “Dear Ah Lu, don’t make your mom worry, okay?”

Chapter 25 – Replica

Chapter 25: Joyous Reunion

Xu Huaiming gently embraced Tan Xilu and helped him adjust the pillow to a comfortable position. He asked, “Is this okay?”

Tan Xilu felt a bit uncertain, his emotions in turmoil. This didn’t align with the script at all.

He gazed at Xu Huaiming, his expression sincere, and asked, “Are we just going to sleep?”

Xu Huaiming was taken aback for a moment and then said, “Oh? Do you want to do something else?”

Tan Xilu hesitated, then shook his head, saying, “Never mind, I must have been overthinking it.”

Xu Huaiming replied with a simple, “Okay.”

With only one page left in the bedtime magazine he had been reading, Xu Huaiming turned off the bedside lamp on Tan Xilu’s side and adjusted his own reading light to the lowest setting. He continued reading the magazine in the faint glow.

Tan Xilu turned his back and bit his finger. He couldn’t help but doubt himself. Was he pent up? Why was he so sure that Xu Huaiming would surely sleep with him today? But thinking about it, it seems that after returning, Xu Huaiming no longer enjoyed sleeping with him as much as before.

In fact, not long before Xu Huaiming lost contact, even when they were giving each other the silent treatment, they were still sleeping together. At that time, he thought it was easy for young couples to get frisky when they were in love, but what about now? Don’t they all say that a long separation is a better catalyst than being newlyweds? Why does Xu Huaiming not like sleeping with him as much anymore?

Was he tired of him?

The room was very quiet, with only the sound of Xu Huaiming turning the pages of the magazine, accompanied by his shallow breathing. After a while, Xu Huaiming finished reading, he closed the magazine and put it on the bedside table before turning off the bedside lamp.

As soon as his fingertips touched the lamp switch, a pair of hands suddenly covered his waist and abdomen. At the same time, he heard Tan Xilu’s voice, and he said, “Let’s do it.”

As if he was afraid that Xu Huaiming wouldn’t want to, his voice was a little aggrieved, “I want to coax you.”

Tan Xilu finally confessed everything to Xu Huaiming. He held Xu Huaiming close, his emotions laid bare as he spoke, “Li Zhao, he’s not just an ordinary friend of mine.”

He paused, fearing Xu Huaiming’s reaction, and tightened his grip on him. “He’s someone my mother introduced to me as a potential partner for arranged marriage.”

Xu Huaiming acknowledged that he had harbored some concerns about Li Zhao’s presence in the past. He believed that two people in love should trust each other completely without any secrets. However, he quickly adjusted his emotions. After all, he was merely a replica.

His existence was meant to provide Tan Xilu with a lifetime of love or gracefully exit if Tan Xilu found someone else.

Subjectively, he existed for Tan Xilu. If Tan Xilu no longer needed him, then he should disappear.

But now that Tan Xilu had confessed everything, Xu Huaiming looked into his earnest eyes and felt his heart soften. It was no wonder that Code no. 7 was so fond of Tan Xilu. Who could resist a person like him?

Tan Xilu tilted his head and kissed Xu Huaiming’s chin. Xu Huaiming’s chin was always smooth and clean, never sporting a trace of stubble. Tan Xilu sometimes wondered if he used some high-tech product, but the lack of roughness was not a bad thing.

He continued, “In the seven years you were gone, my mother has always been worried about me and afraid I couldn’t move on, so she kept pushing me to go on arranged dates. I admit that I had a new relationship, the person who brought me home the day you returned. But you already knew we had broken up because I couldn’t forget you. So that relationship ended in failure.”

“Li Zhao was introduced to me by my mother’s friend because my mother was present at the time. I was forced to meet him once. Later, to please my mother, I met him again. But I made it clear to him at the time that I already had you.”

Tan Xilu gently touched Xu Huaiming’s face as he explained, “Because you used to be unwilling to meet my parents, my mother didn’t have a favorable impression of you. So, I didn’t dare to tell her when you came back. I know you must have been jealous of Li Zhao, but there really was nothing between him and me. I truly only love you.”

Xu Huaiming grasped Tan Xilu’s hand as he touched his own face. Tan Xilu’s hands were used to holding chalk and writing lesson plans, but they were surprisingly free of calluses, smooth and delicate. Xu Huaiming couldn’t help but kiss his hand, and he did just that.

He didn’t need any vows of fidelity from Tan Xilu. As a replica, he wasn’t deserving of such promises. However, hearing Tan Xilu’s words filled him with joy. At least Tan Xilu truly cared for him in his heart, even if he saw him as Code no. 7. But for now, he was still his, and he hadn’t fallen for anyone else.

Xu Huaiming said, “Thank you for telling me.”

It gave him a temporary sense of security.

Tan Xilu narrowed his eyes and asked, “So, when will you be willing to meet my parents? That way, my mom won’t set me up on blind dates anymore, and you won’t have to worry about getting jealous. You’ll be the only one for me.”

Having watched his fair share of family dramas, Xu Huaiming understood the significance of meeting the parents. It meant that Tan Xilu was serious about their relationship, and typically, the next step after meeting the parents would be marriage. Xu Huaiming took a deep breath, finding it hard to believe what Tan Xilu had just said.

As Xu Huaiming remained silent, Tan Xilu furrowed his brows and asked, “What’s wrong? Don’t you want to?”

He couldn’t figure out what Xu Huaiming was thinking. Did he still not want to meet his parents, just like before?

Tan Xilu was getting a bit frustrated. He couldn’t understand why Xu Huaiming always resisted meeting his parents. This time, he needed a clear answer.

But to his surprise, Xu Huaiming suddenly hugged him tightly, as if on the verge of tears, and said, “Okay, let’s meet your parents.”

As long as you ask, I’ll agree.

This time, it was Tan Xilu’s turn to be stunned. However, he quickly got undressed amidst this pleasantly surprised mood.

Xu Huaiming’s favorite place to kiss was Tan Xilu’s ear. He loved that small mole and would gently kiss it before lightly nibbling, making Tan Xilu ticklish and numb. Unable to contain himself, Tan Xilu said, “Hurry up.”

At this point, Xu Huaiming would start changing the course of action.

But it seemed like nothing was going smoothly today. Just as Xu Huaiming was about to remove Tan Xilu’s pants, Tan Xilu’s phone on the bedside table vibrated.

Getting interrupted during such a moment was truly frustrating. Tan Xilu had no intention of answering the call and said to Xu Huaiming, “Ignore it, let’s continue.”

Xu Huaiming responded with a faint “Hmm” and his cool lips pressed against Tan Xilu’s waist.

However, the persistent caller kept dialing, the phone constantly buzzing. In the end, it was Xu Huaiming who stopped first. He said to Tan Xilu, “Maybe you should answer the call, just in case it’s something important.”

At this point, Tan Xilu reluctantly agreed.

He reached for his phone and saw that it was Li Zhao calling. He hesitated for a moment. After their last meeting at the restaurant, he hadn’t planned on having any further contact with Li Zhao. Their encounter today had been by chance, and now Li Zhao was calling him unexpectedly. Tan Xilu didn’t really want to answer, but he had a bad feeling about it.

Xu Huaiming also noticed Li Zhao’s name on the screen. He looked at Tan Xilu and said, “I’ll go make you a cup of warm milk.”

Tan Xilu replied with a quick “Ah,” but before he could react, Xu Huaiming had already left the room.

Tan Xilu bit his lip, pondered for a moment, and ultimately pressed the answer button.

Chapter 61 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 61

Wen Han was extremely angry, with a face turning pale, he turned and left.

Lu Jingning watched the departing figure and cheerfully whistled, waving his hand with a smile.

When he turned back, he saw Yu Zeyang looking at him with a complex expression. He couldn’t help but raise the corner of his mouth and said, “Why are you looking at me like that? I’m just annoyed by that pretentious attitude, it has nothing to do with you, no need to thank me too much.”

He wasn’t sure what had happened two years ago, but he had his own judgment on the matter.

Lu Jingning still remembered how Yu Zeyang looked when he first saw him on the day of the pirate attack. A person like him, willing to risk his life to protect an Omega classmate, how could he sacrifice others’ lives for so-called honor?

He was willing to believe in that kind of Yu Zeyang.

The interruption earlier seemed to have dampened everyone’s mood. Their excitement from before had disappeared, and they sat down at their representative delegation’s positions.

The content of the first day of the university mecha exchange was conducted in the form of a symposium. For Lu Jingning, it was not much different from attending a theory class. He lay on his seat, feeling drowsy all day, only waking up when the applause sounded in the venue. He stifled a yawn and clapped half-heartedly with the crowd.

The first day passed uneventfully.

After having dinner together outside, An Huo enthusiastically invited a few people to go shopping. After all, they were in a big city, and everyone’s interest was piqued. They quickly organized and even Yan Hebin surprisingly decided to join.

Lu Jingning felt uncomfortable not having a good nap in the afternoon, so he declined their invitation and decided to go back to the hotel room to continue his rest.

Before he even reached the door, he saw a figure leaning against the corridor.

He was somewhat surprised that this person was waiting for him here, but at the same time, it didn’t feel entirely unexpected. Yu Zeyang wasn’t the kind of person who hid things; it seemed appropriate for him to take this opportunity to have a private conversation after not saying much in front of everyone during the day.

However, this person still didn’t understand him well enough.

Lu Jingning walked over, and before the other could say anything, he spoke first, “Vice President, haven’t I told you already? Really, there’s no need to thank me so much.”

Yu Zeyang still had half a cigarette in his hand, almost enveloped in smoke. He fell silent for a moment and said, “I want to talk to you about what happened two years ago.”

Lu Jingning stared at his bitter and resentful expression for a while and suddenly said, “I have a question.”

Yu Zeyang asked, “What is it?”

Lu Jingning inquired, “So, the reason the Mecha Club never recruited Omega members was because of that incident?”

Yu Zeyang nodded, “Yes, that year…”

“That’s enough,” Lu Jingning interrupted without waiting for him to go into storytelling mode, “I know what I wanted to know. You don’t need to explain the rest to me.”

Ignoring Yu Zeyang’s dazed expression, he opened the room door and stopped halfway. He smiled ambiguously and blinked, “I said this in the afternoon too. I can’t control or want to meddle in what happened two years ago. I don’t like to interfere in other people’s business. If you’re really interested, just listen to Wen Han this afternoon. Why bother going in circles? Isn’t that reasonable, Vice President?”

Yu Zeyang said, “Seems like… you’re right.”

Lu Jingning waved his hand, “If there’s nothing else, I’m going to bed. Goodnight.”

Yu Zeyang muttered, “Goodnight…”

Even after the door closed, he was still somewhat stunned.

From the corner, there came a soft laughter, “Well, I told you there was no need to do this. You didn’t believe me.”

Yu Zeyang glanced at the figure emerging from the shadows, his gaze falling slightly, without saying a word.

Bing Yunlin approached, patting his shoulder gently, and handed him a cigarette, “Want another one?”

Yu Zeyang took it, lit it, and placed it at the corner of his mouth. Leaning against the wall, he tilted his head slightly, looking at the ceiling as if lost in thought.

Unknowingly, two years had passed.

This was also the fourth year since he met Wen Cu.

Although Wen Cu was an Omega, he had the same ambitious dream as him—to become an outstanding mecha pilot, standing at the forefront of the battlefield, charging into the enemy lines.

Even if they couldn’t achieve that, they at least wanted their designed mecha to grace the interstellar stage.

Wen Cu had said he knew how difficult this path was, and even his family consistently opposed it. But he believed in himself, believed that one day, this dream would become a reality!

Yu Zeyang believed too because at that moment, he seemed to see the vast stars in Wen Cu’s eyes.

So, in that semester, he invited Wen Cu to join the Mecha Club.

Over the next two years, they researched cutting-edge mecha technology together, developed new mecha models, participated in various mecha competitions as a team, and actively pursued their common dream…

Until, the preparation for the Mecha Field Challenge hosted by the Mecha Master Association began.

Like all the previous competitions, as the top combination in the Mecha Club, the only spot without any doubt fell on them.

To prepare for this competition, they immersed themselves day and night in the research and development of the new mecha. Finally, with Yu Zeyang as the control prototype, they jointly developed a competition model with all indicators deemed perfect.

Everything seemed ready, but unexpectedly, on the day before the challenge, Yu Zeyang entered his sensitive period.

Wen Cu, feeling uneasy, suggested a last-minute adjustment and as a result, they had a big argument that night.

Irritable, quick-tempered, and sensitive – these are common attributes for any Alpha during their estrus period.

Yu Zeyang could hardly recall the specific situation at that time. He only remembered the starless sky filled with dark clouds, and how Wen Cu left with a heavy slam of the door, leaving behind an extremely oppressive empty room.

To relieve his uncontrollable restlessness, he drank a lot of alcohol alone in the room. He ended up so intoxicated that he didn’t wake up until the next day when Bing Yunlin kicked the door open and dragged him up from the bed. Bing Yunlin told him bluntly that Wen Cu had gone to participate in the outdoor challenge alone.

At that moment, Yu Zeyang seemed to suddenly wake up, and he rushed out as if driven by madness, heading straight to the venue.

However, it was already too late.

The mecha designed specifically for him didn’t match Wen Cu’s control habits, and the argument from the night before made him completely forget to inform Wen Cu, resulting in an increase in the threshold of pheromone intensity during the final debugging process.

He had hoped to have a higher intensity of explosive power on the field to deal with potential crises, but now it had become his biggest hidden danger.

The mecha wilderness challenge tests the operator’s emergency response under various critical situations, and this extremely perilous combat environment was filled with potential abysses at every turn.

In such a situation, there was absolutely no room for any deviation in the threshold.

But at this moment, Yu Zeyang arrived too late. No matter how he explained to the staff, he was perceived as intentionally disrupting the order and was repeatedly barred from entering the arena.

In the end, he could only stare at the live broadcast on the big screen, hoping that Wen Cu would notice the deviation in the mecha’s data sooner.

However, the thing he least wanted to see happened.

Due to the insufficient physical energy of Omega itself, Wen Cu’s excessive consumption of energy during the competition led to the complete loss of control over the mecha.

When he tried to contact the central observation platform for assistance, it was already too late.

The red mecha descended like a wingless bird from thousands of meters high.

At this moment, it was only a stone’s throw away from the final destination.

Yu Zeyang could feel his entire body falling endlessly like the mecha on the screen, descending, descending…

After the incident, the Mecha Pilot Association discovered a far higher than standard level of pheromone intensity output in the wreckage.

If the required pheromone intensity of the mecha deviated too much, it often led to operational accidents. And Omega’s pheromone intensity was naturally weaker compared to Alpha’s. Normally, various mecha organizations prioritized Omega’s safety by assigning only low-level threshold mechas for their control. However, the mecha Wen Cu operated clearly far exceeded this standard.

This accident made the Mecha Pilot Association suspect that the Imperial Navy had overlooked safety hazards by forcing Omega players to participate and promptly issued a ban.

However, Yu Zeyang no longer had the energy to care about these matters. Perhaps because of the damage to the communicator, he received a delayed message.

It was the last image Wen Cu sent him: “Yu Zeyang, I’m sorry I couldn’t bring the trophy back for you. In the future, you must carry our shared ideals and continue to move toward more distant goals together!”

“Also, I like you.”

As the last words echoed, Yu Zeyang felt as if the whole world had fallen into silence.

“If only I hadn’t been so temperamental, if only I hadn’t forgotten to tell you how important it was to adjust the threshold, or if only I hadn’t brought you into the Mecha Society in the first place, perhaps none of this would have happened.”

“But now, how can I let you know that I like you too…”

As if it were too bright, Yu Zeyang blinked, and suddenly everything was covered in tears.

Subconsciously, he reached out to cover it but forgot about the cigarette butt between his fingers.

The sudden burst of flames made him let go instinctively, and the cigarette butt fell to the ground.

It flickered twice and then dimmed out silently.

It was just like the energy beam that had surrounded the mecha back then, completely lifeless.

Bing Yunlin sighed lightly beside him, “You should have cried out long ago…”

Yu Zeyang’s body trembled slightly. The 1.85-meter-tall Alpha suddenly held his head in agony, slowly squatting against the wall, crying silently.

After returning to his room, Lu Jingning fell into a deep sleep.

It was only when Yan Hebin returned and heard the faint sound that he woke him up from his slumber.

Lu Jingning opened his eyes drowsily and picked up the terminal to check the time. He found that he had received several messages intermittently.

He was about to open them when Yan Hebin suddenly walked to his bedside, looking hesitant, and asked, “Lu Jingning, is your heat coming soon?”

Although it was faint, he could still smell the pheromones spreading around him.

Lu Jingning had always been good at controlling himself, even when he was asleep, he rarely leaked any pheromones. But now, after being asked, he couldn’t help but be stunned for a moment before responding awkwardly, “Maybe?”

Due to the previous period of pheromone disturbance, his heat seemed to have been delayed, and he gradually forgot about it. Now, upon reflection, these days he did seem to be exceptionally drowsy, and he finally realized that his long-lost heat was coming.

However, it really wasn’t the best timing for it.

Yan Hebin also fell into silence.

This mecha had been tailored entirely for Lu Jingning, and finding a replacement operator at the last minute would be difficult.

Lu Jingning knew his concerns and comforted him, “Don’t worry, I can still go tomorrow.”

Yan Hebin furrowed his eyebrows, “Is it too dangerous?”

Lu Jingning patted his chest and assured, “Don’t worry, my heat hasn’t arrived yet. I’ll buy some suppressants and take them after the exchange meeting. It will be foolproof!”

Although Yan Hebin still wanted to say something, seeing that Lu Jingning didn’t seem like someone who would listen to advice, he eventually relented, “Okay, you handle it yourself.”

Lu Jingning saw him still standing by the bed, not moving, and couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, “Is there anything else?”

“… Nothing,” Yan Hebin replied.

In fact, when he returned just now, he vaguely saw a figure that looked very close to Lu Jingning, a certain Alpha who seemed to be very close to him.

But at that time, the distance was too far, and it disappeared in a flash. Considering their current location, he thought he must have been mistaken.

Chapter 7 – I’ll wait for you on a spring day

Chapter 7

13.

In the past few days, there has been non-stop rain. Even the air was humid. Originally, summers in Yunzhen were dry. After it rained, it became hot again. Occasionally, a gust of refreshing cool breeze can be felt through the window alongside with the damp wind of  midsummer.

News of a certain popular niche was broadcasting on the TV. It is no exaggeration to say that the entertainment industry is changing quickly. Song Xexu dominated the news headlines half a month ago, but it was replaced by someone else in the blink of an eye.

Song Zexu was isolated from the outside world for half a month, far away from the Internet and his career, being really carefree in Li Chou’s apartment, so much so that he almost forgot about his own life.

He was still an artist.

He tilted his ears to listen to the news on TV and couldn’t help laughing when the news said that he had forgotten his original intention to be the best.

Li Chou was pricking dried flowers next to him. When he suddenly laughed, he felt a little creeped out and looked up to watch the news on TV, only to find that it was the newbie celebrity who he’s seen in advertisements some time ago. He looks quite honest, but he didn’t expect him to be in a relationship.

Li Chou blinked slowly and said, “It might be a bit hard to tell, but he has a partner.”

“It’s just hype.” Song Zexu said to him, “I guess there is a new movie coming up, so they’re trying to create some gossip around it. I have worked with him before and it sounds great.”

“The kid talks like he has no talent and is not suitable for the entertainment industry, but he is very hardworking. I hope he can make some achievements in the future.”

Li Chou let out an “ah” and realized what he said was too one-sided. However, it is hard to discern between truths and lies in the news of the entertainment industry, so ordinary people don’t really think twice about accepting them.

“So that’s how it is.”

Song Zexu said “Mm”: “The company seems to be operating normally as usual.”

It was the same kind of hype that helped him gain some popularity in the first place. He is most familiar with this way of becoming popular, but he doesn’t really want anyone doing the same thing. After all, his popularity is all due to luck and a good foundation laid before too. He hasn’t made any bad movies, that’s why a few of them became popular after he himself became popular.

It’s not necessarily the case if someone else did the same thing. Others might even face backlash and it’s not good to be harmed by the other party.

Li Chou made an “oh” and began to tie the dried flowers silently again.

He dried some flowers a few days ago. Some customers like dried flowers. At the request of customers, he will prepare a batch of dried flowers every month and then sell them.

Sometimes the profit of dried flowers can be more than that of real flowers, after all, they can be stored for longer.

He tied a bunch of blue baby’s breath and put it in a vase on the coffee table. Li Chou is a romantic and likes to place all kinds of flowers at home.

The fragrance of flowers always puts him in a good mood.

The original plan for the remaining flowers was to tie them up and take them to the flower shop for sale. However, the rainy season has caused it to be humid for the past two days, and the dry flowers will have a different texture due to the air humidity.

As such, Li Chou’s batch is softer than before and the weather forecast says that it will rain in three to five days.

Sigh, he sighed softly, he was thinking of how to remedy it.

“What’s wrong?” Song Zexu asked after hearing his sigh.

Li Chou didn’t want to bring up his own negative emotions. He didn’t want to trouble others, especially if the other party was Song Zexu, whom he liked, so he said: “It’s okay, I can handle it myself.”

“Really?” Song Zexu looked at Li Chou, “Did you just lie to me?”

During this time, Song Zexu was able to discern where Li Chou was very keenly through his voice and he no longer faced the TV or the wall like before when he would face the walls and even refrigerators after Li Chou spoke.

Li Chou: “…”

In the end, Li Chou still gave in: “It’s because of the weather these few days, the dried flowers that I originally made may not be very long-lasting, so I can only lower the price for them.”

“So that’s the case.” Song Zexu sighed like Li Chou a few minutes ago. He thought for a while and asked, “How much are these flowers? I’ll buy them.”

Li Chou was taken aback for a moment. He didn’t expect Song Zexu to buy his flowers and he felt that this was not good as he seemed to be taking advantage of others, so he immediately shook his head. Remembering that Song Zexu couldn’t see, he quickly opened his mouth and said, “How can I give you flowers of poor quality?”

“It’s okay.” Song Zexu smiled, “My manager likes flowers very much, so I’ll just give them to him later.”

“Really?” Li Chou was a little surprised. He doubted the authenticity of Song Zexu’s words. He remembered that Song Zexu’s manager was a man.

Would him, of all people, like his flowers? But after thinking about it, he felt that people in the entertainment industry always liked fancy things, which is normal. Besides, he could give a discount, so he said, “Alright then.”

After he finished speaking, he realized belatedly that Song Zexu seemed to mean that he was going back.

Li Chou looked into Song Zexu’s eyes and for a moment he thought, how could he keep Song Zexu by his side forever?

As soon as this thought came out, he slapped himself hard in his heart. How could he be so selfish? Song Zexu’s eyes were already swollen.

As it’s been too long, and he was afraid there will be some sequelae if he delays it any longer. If he really loses his sight because of this, there will be unimaginable consequences. The entertainment industry still needs Song Zexu. His talent and hard work should not be confined to this small town of Yunzhen. He should be allowed to shine bright like the sun.

He belongs on the big screens.

Li Chou breathed out lightly. At this moment, the most he can do is pray for Song Zexu to stay by his side for a little longer. After all, when he leaves In the future, he would never be able to live in the same apartment as Song Zexu like now.

He will never lie in the same bed with him again.

14.

On the eighteenth day of living together with Song Zexu, Li Chou wrote his diary at the beach.

[Saturday, July 2, 20××, sunny]

[Today Song Zexu borrowed my mobile phone to make a call. He asked me to dial a number for him. He was calling on the balcony. When he got through, I listened in.

It was his manager’s voice, but I couldn’t hear what he said on the other end. I had a hunch that he was leaving soon. He probably told his manager to pick him up. Although I should have expected such a day, I’m still so sad and a little bit reluctant.

But at least I had him for myself for a short time, so I should be satisfied.

That is… it would be nice if time passed a little slower.]

Today’s diary entry is very short and Li Chou didn’t know what to write. He seems to have a lot to say to Song Zexu, but as soon as the tip of his pen touches the page, leaving a drop of ink, he doesn’t know what to write again.

Li Chou looked up at the sea and he suddenly thought, Song Zexu hadn’t seen the sunset sea before. The first time he saw Song Zexu, the other party was injured and already blind. He may have heard the sound of the sea, but he may not have seen such a beautiful sea.

He wanted Song Zexu to let him take him to see it before he leaves.

What Li Chou didn’t expect was for the agent to be so quick. When Li Chou returned home, he saw a man wearing sunglasses standing at the door of the apartment building.

Li Chou has seen this man standing next to Song Zexu on the news many times. He is the one who made Song Zexu famous step by step.

Li Chou knew that he would always come to him, so he simply walked over by himself. He stood in front of the manager, calmed down his breathing and said to him, “Hello.”

The agent raised his hand and flipped the sunglasses, revealing one eye. He looked Li Chou up and down, then raised his eyebrows. Looking at Li Chou, he asked: “You’re the one who saved Song Zexu?”

Chapter 55

People, in their lives, all had things they dared not face. Even someone like Suo Yang, who seemed like nothing could make him bend, inevitably also had his own vulnerabilities.

Shen Huiming gently embraced him and patted his back lightly.

Suo Yang said, “It’s okay, it’s been so long, I’m used to it.”

How could one ever get used to it?

This would always be a knot in life that couldn’t be untied.

Shen Huiming wanted to do something for him.

“Alright,” Suo Yang smiled, “Let’s go in and watch a movie.”

He broke free from Shen Huiming’s embrace and helped the other party straighten his shirt, “One day all problems will be solved. I’m not in a hurry.”

“Okay.” Shen Huiming gave his shoulder a comforting squeeze, “No rush.”

The two of them watched the movie. This time, Shen Huiming chose the movie himself and found a masterpiece that he had been watching repeatedly for years.

Suo Yang had actually seen this movie, but it was when he was very young, probably around seven or eight years old. At that time, he was standing in the living room at home, standing in front of the TV, watching this film broadcast on the movie channel.

His memory of this movie had become hazy, and he only remembered that the male lead seemed to have scissor-like hands. The only scene he recalled was the male lead standing in the snow, looking back at the female lead.

At that time, he, who didn’t understand love, only felt that these hands were a little scary.

Years later, he re-watched this movie with his lover. Although at the beginning, he couldn’t calm down to watch due to lingering melancholy, he gradually got drawn into that virtual world.

It was only now that he realised that the ‘snow’ he remembered from his childhood was not real snow at all.

He didn’t know if he hadn’t understood it back then or if his memories had been altered over the years.

When that line was spoken in the movie—This city can’t see snow, so I’ll make it snow for you. Each snowflake that falls is saying, I love you.

He sighed and leaned on Shen Huiming’s shoulder.

Suo Yang didn’t know if he was too greedy. He wanted both snow and rain, desiring both love and the restoration of his family relationship.

At the end of the movie, Suo Yang said, “You forgot one thing.”

Shen Huiming turned to look at him, “Huh? What?”

Suo Yang smiled, “You forgot to kiss me forcefully.”

The two of them smiled at each other, and all of Suo Yang’s sorrows dissipated in Shen Huiming’s kiss.

A lover’s kiss was the herb of forgetfulness, the remedy for all sorrows and the antidote to all ailments.

====

After the National Day holiday, Shen Huiming became busier than before.

The last two months of the year were filled with wrapping up projects and planning for the next year’s work.

Project evaluations and new project bids, as the boss, he had to personally review everything. It was manageable when Suo Yang was around; no matter how late it was, Shen Huiming would go to see him, or Suo Yang would come to the office to keep him company during overtime. However, when Suo Yang wasn’t there, Shen Huiming wished he could simply live at the office.

Originally, the two were discussing to find an opportunity to have dinner with Shen Huiming’s parents, but due to his busy schedule, the chance never came.

And so, the two people who had met in early autumn walked hand in hand into the city’s first snowfall.

Suo Yang had just got off the plane that day when he heard his colleague say, “It’s snowing.”

He was still wearing his uniform, standing in the airport lobby, and turned his head to look out the window.

Almost at the same time, he received a message from Shen Huiming: Have you landed? I’m here to pick you up.

It had been a while since Shen Huiming had come to pick Suo Yang up and take him home, not that he didn’t want to, but he really didn’t have the time.

Suo Yang also didn’t want him to come over all the time for no other reason than fearing he’d be too tired. Suo Yang figured that during the time Shen Huiming spent driving, he might as well lie down and get some rest.

But it was undeniable that Suo Yang was very happy when Shen Huiming came.

       He called directly, “I’m out.”

“The old place is waiting for you.” Shen Huiming said with a smile, “Do you still remember where the ‘old place’ is?”

Suo Yang laughed, “Of course I remember. Wait for me, I’ll be right there.”

Suo Yang swiftly carried his suitcase and hurried to meet Shen Huiming. As he approached the other party, he felt as if his steps had become light, as if love were a cloud carrying him through the bustling streets.

The ‘old place’ Shen Huiming mentioned was the coffee shop where he had first waited for Suo Yang when picking him up.

Because of its remote location, this store was always sparsely populated.

Shen Huiming sat near the door, just like the last time he had waited for Suo Yang, with his book ‘On Love’. This time, however, he had his ‘love’ with him.

Suo Yang hurried over and spotted Shen Huiming from a distance.

He enjoyed weaving through the crowd to observe Suo Yang, relishing the feeling that ‘the only special person in the crowd is my lover’.

He walked over and stood beside Shen Huiming with a smile.

“Mr. Shen, good evening.” Suo Yang said with a smile in his eyes, “Do you need something to eat?”

Shen Huiming held back a smile and looked at him, “What do you think?”

They locked eyes, engaging in a playful exchange of glances.

“Can we clock out now?” Shen Huiming stood up.

“Sure, unless you are still reluctant to part with this place.”

“A little bit, actually.” Shen Huiming followed Suo Yang out, “After all, this place can be regarded as one of our dating places.”

They had quite a few romantic spots—on the plane, at the coffee shop, and even in a small church in Berlin.

Like small streams merging into the sea, their bits and pieces of affection were scattered everywhere they passed together and finally converged into this intense and lasting love.

“I brought you a gift today.” Before today, the two hadn’t seen each other for more than a week.

Shen Huiming had been busy, and Suo Yang had swapped shifts with a colleague, which had resulted in them not having a chance to meet for over a week.

For over a week, when they were busy, it seemed manageable as there was no time or energy to think about each other. However, once they had some rest, they couldn’t stop thinking about one another.

Is Suo Yang on the plane?

       Has Suo Yang eaten yet?

What time is it over where Suo Yang is?

       Does Suo Yang miss me?

Shen Huiming felt that he might have been bewitched by Suo Yang, as he couldn’t help but think of him whenever he had a moment to spare.

Since being together with Suo Yang, Shen Huiming’s phone has accumulated time zones from many different countries. Those who didn’t know it would think that he had a lover in every country.

Previously, Suo Yang had come by car, and the car was parked in the parking lot specially prepared for their internal personnel.

Now that Shen Huiming came, he didn’t bother with the car and just followed him.

Shen Huiming had mentioned bringing a gift earlier, but he had yet to take it out. Suo Yang didn’t inquire further, and he didn’t even ask Shen Huiming where they were headed. He placed his full trust in Shen Huiming, leaning against the passenger seat and eventually drifting off to sleep.

When Suo Yang woke up, the car had already stopped, and he realised they were parked outside Shen Huiming’s home.

“Are you awake now?” Shen Huiming looked at him with a smile.

“Yeah.” Suo Yang was a bit tired, having flown back for more than ten hours, he desperately needed to catch up on his sleep.

“In that case, go home and get some sleep first. You can eat when you wake up,” Shen Huiming helped him unbuckle his seatbelt and gave him a kiss. “Get out of the car; I have a gift for you.”

Only then did Suo Yang remember that Shen Huiming had mentioned gifts before.

What kind of gift required him to get out of the car to receive it?

He got out of the car in a daze and then watched Shen Huiming take his suitcase from the trunk and lead him upstairs.

       So, the gift was upstairs?

The two entered Shen Huiming’s house. Shen Huiming put the suitcase against the wall and said to him, “Are you ready to receive my gift?”

Suo Yang turned to look at him.

Shen Huiming gave his ear a kiss and said, “Stay right here, don’t move, and wait for me.”

After Shen Huiming finished his explanation, he entered the house.

The house was dark without the lights on, except for the moonlight coming in from the big window on the other side of the living room.

Suo Yang was obedient and stood still, waiting for Shen Huiming’s gift.

Soon, Shen Huiming came out, pushing a small cart with a huge bunch of roses on it, surrounded by red candles.

Suo Yang froze in surprise. This kind of plot probably only appears in idol dramas. Where did Shen Huiming learn this from?

“The last time I went to your house, I bought you 21 roses.” Shen Huiming said, “It’s not that I’m stingy, it’s just that they didn’t have enough roses at the flower shop to make up the number I wanted. They say 21 roses represent sincere love, so I reluctantly settled for a small bouquet.”

Suo Yang stood there, looking at him with a smile.

“How many flowers are there this time?” Suo Yang asked with a smile.

“101 flowers.” Shen Huiming said, “It might be cliché, but 101 roses represent that you are the one I love the most.”

       Cliché?

       Yes, it was pretty cliché.

But for them, this kind of cliché was romantic and heartwarming.

Suo Yang walked over and initiated a kiss, wrapping his arms around Shen Huiming’s neck.

“What made you decide to give me roses again?”

“I knew you wouldn’t remember.” Shen Huiming said, “We have been together for 100 days.”

       100 days.

       A little over three months.

Time seemed to pass both quickly and slowly for them.

The first meeting between the two seemed like it had just happened, yet Suo Yang couldn’t wait to spend the rest of his life with Shen Huiming.

“I’m not very good at preparing surprises,” Shen Huiming said. “While I was planning this, I realized I still know so little about you, I don’t even know what you like.”

He put his arms around Suo Yang’s waist, “I should reflect on that.”

His words made Suo Yang’s heart sour and swell. Who could really have a complete grasp of another person’s preferences? Shen Huiming was already meticulous enough.

Rather than knowing every preference, having this kind of care was already quite rare.

Suo Yang said, “You do know my favourite thing.”

“I know?” Shen Huiming furrowed his brow, trying to recall seriously.

Suo Yang laughed, raising his hand to unbutton his shirt, “It’s you, silly.”

His ‘silly’ was teasing and somewhat flirtatious, which made Shen Huiming no longer in the mood to be romantic.

His handsome flight attendant was still wearing his uniform at this time, standing there looking at him with eyes filled with affection.

“Suo Yang…” Shen Huiming took a deep breath and firmly grasped the hand that was unbuttoning his shirt.

Suo Yang looked up, thinking he might not want this.

Unexpectedly, Shen Huiming held onto his hand, turned to blow out the candles, and then suddenly lifted Suo Yang, carrying him into the bedroom.

Lovemaking was not the only expression of love, but it was indeed one of the ways to express love.

Perhaps it was because they hadn’t seen each other for over a week, or perhaps it was because Suo Yang was touched by Shen Huiming’s romantic gesture the moment he arrived. Suo Yang, for once, took the initiative and led the way for this night.

       That included undressing Shen Huiming.

That included making the sound of Shen Huiming’s breath.

And it included Shen Huiming himself.

He kissed his partner and then said, “Thank you.”

Chapter 41 – May I Leave?

After dinner, the man took him to the East Coast once again.

This time, both of them dressed up casually. Chu Yu did not ask him to wear a collar or a leash. Seeing the surprised expression on Xu Ye’s face, he smiled and said, “Today’s mark is more beautiful.” Xu Ye blushed at the teasing gaze that fell on his neck. He now knew why the man chose this round-necked white sweater for him. The unobstructed hickeys on his neck clearly demonstrated his status as a sub.

It was the weekend and the club seemed even busier than yesterday. Even without the restraints of the leash, Xu Ye stayed within one meter behind Chu Yu and concentrated on observing his master’s movements. He was much calmer than the day before.

In the VIP members’ sitting area, the Lion, the Pharaoh, and the cat and mouse duo were all there, as well as three unfamiliar faces. Chu Yu sat down, looked at Xu Ye who was stopping at the entrance of the sitting area, and patted the seat next to him.

Xu Ye was startled, with some surprise in his eyes.

The VIP members’ area wasn’t particularly large. When there were a large number of people inside, the masters would ask their slaves to wait outside. Xu Ye originally thought that he would kneel with other people’s slaves, but the man just gave him the order to ‘sit next to him’. He thought about it several times and made sure that he had not mistaken the order. He walked over and sat down next to Chu Yu.

Murmurs erupted in the venue, with many people looking over curiously. After all, doms rarely gave their subs equal status within the clubs. Xu Ye looked at his master with a slightly stuffy expression. The man smiled faintly and put his arm on the back of the sofa behind him, silently keeping him within his reach.

The Lion whistled and joked, “Mr. Earl looks quite spirited today. You must have slept well last night.”

“Not bad.” Chu Yu curled his lips.

“Was it a good sleep quality or a good pre-sleep workout?” Jerry glanced at Xu Ye’s neck with a smile and asked more openly, “This guy can still get out of bed today, so it seems like the exercise wasn’t too much.”

“Keeping the right balance is also a test of the dom’s control.” The Earl responded calmly, unfazed, “In this regard, I’ve always been moderate.”

This kind of topic made Xu Ye blush so intensely that even the tips of his ears turned red. He kept his head down and his gaze fixed on the floor, unable to lift it. His embarrassed demeanour only made the doms find it even more amusing.

Tom deliberately asked, “Xu Ye, is your master as much of a gentleman in bed as he is now?”

Xu Ye raised his blushing red face after his name was called. He didn’t know how to answer, so he looked at the man next to him for help. Chu Yu smiled and helped him out, “If you’re so curious, why don’t you abandon Jerry and come over to me? You can experience firsthand what I’m like in bed.”

“…No need.” Tom glanced at the handsome man beside him with raised eyebrows and quickly backed down.

After chatting for a while, the venue darkened. All the lights were focused on the wooden execution frame in the centre of the venue. Then, a shirtless man walked into the light with his head lowered. The moment Xu Ye saw his face clearly, he opened his eyes wide in shock.

The venue fell silent. Four burly men in black stood expressionlessly on both sides of the execution frame. The host with the microphone looked at the paper in his hand and said to the man, “An Xia. Ordinary member. You’ve been a member for two years, right?”

       “Yes.”

“Yesterday you claimed that a certain slave offended you for no reason and caused him to be punished with ten lashes. After a thorough investigation by the Club’s Management Committee, it was found that you had instigated the confrontation with the slave intentionally. Not only did you violate the Membership Rules about ‘prohibitions of conflicts provocation’, but you also blatantly lied and deceived everyone. Is that correct?”

       “…Yes.” His voice trembled slightly.

“Very well.” The host came over and asked, “Mr. Earl, because Mr. Anxia’s misconduct has brought displeasure to you and your slave. According to the rules, his punishment should be based on your objection.”

Chu Yu casually scanned the crowd and spoke with a cold voice, “Soft whip. Twenty lashes.”

“Sir, everything is my fault. I dare not ask for your forgiveness. I only hope that you can grant me one last favour,” An Xia knelt in his direction and continued, “Please administer my punishment yourself.”

“I refuse.” The man’s response was firm and unequivocal, leaving no room for negotiation.

“Sir!” An Xia couldn’t help but shout, “I love you, I have always loved you! I only ask you to let me come back to you…” His voice turned into a muffled groan, and two black-clad men promptly stepped forward, pinching his jaw and inserting a ball gag into his mouth. They then put him on the execution frame and firmly clasped his hands and feet. The execution frame was specially designed so that one could barely touch the ground with the tips of their toes, with most of the body weight supported by the suspended arms, making it extremely uncomfortable.

Next, the black leather whip specially used for punishment came through the air and landed on his back with full force. Each strike on his flesh produced a terrifying sound that made one’s teeth ache. With each lash, blood began to seep from various parts of his back. An Xia’s face turned pale in pain, and tears streamed down his face.

Xu Ye watched in silence. He knew that this was something arranged for him by Chu Yu, but he felt a sense of discomfort deep inside.

“He stayed with me for two months.” the man began as if explaining something, “But due to some misconduct on his part, I terminated our Master-slave relationship.”

Xu Ye glanced at the man enduring the punishment in the centre and softly said, “Master, may I leave for a moment?”

He really didn’t want to witness this cruel punishment.

A knowing smile appeared at the corner of the man’s lips as he stood up. “Sure, let’s go back together.”

In the end, the two of them left before the twenty lashes of punishment were completed. After that appearance, Xu Ye’s name was bestowed with the title “The Earl’s Favourite” and spread throughout the entire circle.

Chapter 24 – Replica

Chapter 24: I Want

They had dinner with their own thoughts, and the planned date didn’t feel as comfortable with Li Zhao’s presence.

Tan Xilu could sense an inexplicable hostility from Xu Huaiming toward Li Zhao. However, he didn’t know if it was because Xu Huaiming had already realized that Li Zhao was more than just a friend or if he was simply jealous, considering they had experienced similar situations in the past.

Before getting together with Xu Huaiming, Tan Xilu was clueless about dating. In the early stages of their relationship, they were more like regular bedmates. When one of them had the urge, they would call the other, meet up, and then part ways afterward.

If one of them had noticed that this arrangement was unusual, they might have opened up to each other sooner. But at the time, Xu Huaiming was still in the early stages of understanding human emotions as an AI, and Tan Xilu didn’t know what it meant to be in love.

The data program had given Xu Huaiming human-like emotions, but he was clumsy and couldn’t control or understand his emotions like a human. By the time he truly understood, his time was running out.

Tan Xilu, on the other hand, was inexperienced in relationships because he had never dated before. Moreover, same-sex marriage was not yet legal, so most same-sex couples tried to keep a low profile. Tan Xilu’s first relationship was with a man, and he was somewhat rebellious given his history as a well-behaved child.

After they officially became a couple, things didn’t change much from before. If there was any difference, it was that Tan Xilu could openly change his relationship status on his social media accounts from “single” to “in a relationship.”

Their new relationship status led to gossip among some of their acquaintances. Tan Xilu knew that Xu Huaiming didn’t like interacting with strangers, and given the sensitivity of their same-sex relationship, he often declined invitations from friends who wanted to meet him. Some friends were displeased, thinking he was being arrogant and distant, but others didn’t mind and even teased Tan Xilu, asking him to treat them to a meal for finally finding a partner.

In such situations, Xu Huaiming felt a pang of jealousy.

It all started with a “single and ready to mingle” party that included a senior student. Xu Huaiming had minimal interaction

with Tan Xilu and the senior, and Tan Xilu couldn’t remember inviting the senior, but he didn’t turn him away when he arrived.

Tan Xilu had informed Xu Huaiming in advance that they would be returning late due to the gathering, so when it reached 10 PM and Xu Huaiming still hadn’t received a call, he became worried. Meanwhile, Tan Xilu was starting to feel a little tipsy.

He usually didn’t socialize much, but he had some friends who were outgoing and loved to have a good time. Tan Xilu was a kind-hearted person and found it hard to refuse, so he ended up with a flushed face after a few drinks.

Someone handed him another drink, and Tan Xilu shook his head, saying, “I really can’t drink anymore.”

He didn’t want Xu Huaiming to be upset.

But as the glass was pushed into his hand, Tan Xilu couldn’t bring himself to refuse again, so he reluctantly downed the drink.

Just after finishing the drink, Tan Xilu felt his vision blur, and he began to lose his balance. He swayed on the spot for a moment, feeling the room spin. A few seconds later, his body involuntarily leaned backward.

The expected pain didn’t come. Instead, when Tan Xilu opened his eyes, he found that a senior student had caught him.

Tan Xilu immediately regained his senses, stood up, but his legs felt weak, and he couldn’t maintain his balance. The senior student supported him and told him to be careful.

Tan Xilu nodded and thanked the senior politely. He was about to say something when his phone, which he had taken out earlier, rang. He answered the call, speaking hurriedly. Worried that he might fall, the senior followed him.

Tan Xilu reached the doorway, adjusted his clothes, and then ran outside in a hurry. He didn’t want to keep Xu Huaiming waiting and was afraid he might fall again. The senior followed him.

When Tan Xilu reached the entrance of the hall, he finally spotted Xu Huaiming. He jumped into the arms of the man and was instantly kissed.

Seeing them kiss, the senior suddenly realized that this man was probably Tan Xilu’s partner. What he hadn’t expected was that it was a man.

He couldn’t help but wonder if he should have made a move earlier if he had known that Tan Xilu liked men too.

The other man seemed to notice his presence and looked in his direction. The senior felt a shiver down his spine as he saw those eyes – eyes that didn’t belong to a human, eyes like a thousand icy knives gathering in the pupils, stabbing at him.

Painful and cold.

After their kiss, Tan Xilu finally realized that the senior had been watching. Feeling a bit embarrassed, he introduced the senior to his partner. “Senior, this is my boyfriend.”

The senior glanced at him and then at Xu Huaiming. He smiled and said, “That’s great. I wish you both happiness.”

That night, when Tan Xilu returned home, he received a regretful confession message from the senior. The message read:

“I once had deep affection for you, but unfortunately, I wasn’t brave enough to confess earlier. I wish you happiness, and may everything be well.”

After reading the message, Tan Xilu felt a pang of jealousy for several nights. During those days, he could barely focus on his classes. He couldn’t believe that he had to go through this kind of situation again because of Li Zhao.

Now, with Li Zhao’s presence, Tan Xilu was starting to worry about his backside.

However, when they finally returned home and Tan Xilu lay down on the bed, Xu Huaiming showed no signs of being upset. Instead, he worried that Tan Xilu might not have eaten properly and heated up some dumplings Lin Changyu had sent earlier in the day.

While eating dumplings, Tan Xilu deliberately made sure he was full, just in case Xu Huaiming had some devious plan. He even informed a teacher with whom he had a good relationship that if he didn’t receive a message by 8 AM the next day, he would be taking a week off.

A week should be enough, Tan Xilu thought. He didn’t want to die so young because of this.

However, when he lay in bed for half an hour, Xu Huaiming hadn’t done anything unusual. He was just reading a magazine as he usually did. That didn’t seem right, and Tan Xilu turned on his side to look at Xu Huaiming.

At first, Xu Huaiming didn’t notice Tan Xilu’s gaze. But when he did, he thought Tan Xilu wanted a goodnight kiss. So, he put down his magazine and leaned in to kiss him.

Tan Xilu thought that finally, things were getting started, closed his eyes, and hugged Xu Huaiming’s shoulder. They kissed for a while, but then Xu Huaiming kissed his cheek and said, “Goodnight, let’s go to sleep.”

Tan Xilu: “…”

My pants are already off, and you’re telling me this?

Chapter 23 – Replica

Chapter 23: Evening Maple Song

The extravagant banquet hosted by Chi Yexing was held in the largest private room on the second floor. Young people from affluent families tended to favor extravagance. Although there weren’t many people in attendance, the private room had to be the grandest, and the dishes had to be the best, no matter the cost.

A plate of Australian lobsters was just placed on the table, large and imposing, surrounded by crushed ice and positioned in the center. A young lady sitting nearby had never seen such a massive lobster before, and she exclaimed with a “wow,” taking out her phone from her bag to take a picture.

Li Zhao moved his teacup away from the edge of the table, afraid that the young lady might accidentally knock it over.

The young lady noticed his gesture, blushed, and apologized, “Sorry.”

Li Zhao smiled at her and shook his head, saying, “It’s okay.”

The girl smiled back at him, her cheeks even redder, and put her phone away without taking any more pictures.

Li Zhao inadvertently captured the heart of a young lady with a simple interaction. Chi Yexing patted Li Zhao’s shoulder and asked, “What’s up with you, kid?”

Chi Yexing sat on Li Zhao’s other side, and he had been drinking quite a bit, but he had a good tolerance for alcohol, so he was only slightly flushed at this point. He had invited Li Zhao to help prepare for the engagement ceremony. He had even invited several of the bride’s close friends, all in an effort to surprise her. Little did he know that after a few drinks, Li Zhao was already exchanging flirtatious glances with one of the bride’s friends.

“What can I do?” Li Zhao made a clicking sound with his tongue. He could tell from Chi Yexing’s expression what was going on. “What are you thinking, my friend?”

Chi Yexing didn’t want to waste too much time on small talk. After filling Li Zhao’s glass with wine, he began discussing the main topic of the day, “This engagement is quite important to Shanshan’s parents, so both the engagement and the proposal ceremony need to be special. Shanshan likes romance, so we can’t make it too ordinary. You need to come up with some ideas.”

Chi Yexing had entrusted Li Zhao with planning the engagement ceremony because Li Zhao had a wealth of experience in matters of the heart. He knew that Shanshan favored romantic gestures, and he believed Li Zhao could deliver.

“I think nowadays, girls like a more free-spirited kind of romance,” Li Zhao suggested. “Shanshan often posts scenic photos on her social media, so she must enjoy traveling. You could plan a trip together and propose during the journey.”

“That’s not a bad idea,” Chi Yexing pondered for a moment. “But I’ll need to do a lot of research for the trip. Shanshan is quite picky.”

“Girls, you know,” Li Zhao chuckled. “You’ll be marrying her, so putting in some extra effort is worth it, right?”

Chi Yexing nodded in agreement, seemingly accepting Li Zhao’s suggestion.

Back in their university days, Chi Yexing and Li Zhao had been aware of each other’s existence but had never really interacted. Rumors had circulated about each of them. Chi Yexing had heard that Li Zhao was a spoiled and rebellious young master, while Li Zhao had heard that Chi Yexing was a cunning schemer who had returned to the Chi family to compete for inheritance. These rumors had created a certain level of distrust between them.

Their first significant interaction happened because of a senior student who was interested in both of them. Chi Yexing had broken up with the senior student after learning that she was also chatting with Li Zhao. Li Zhao, being the type to swiftly move on, immediately ended the relationship as well.

This incident had brought them closer, and Li Zhao had realized that Chi Yexing was not as calculating as the rumors had suggested. In fact, Chi Yexing often took the blame for things he didn’t do just to avoid conflicts.

Chi Yexing, on the other hand, had learned about Li Zhao’s straightforward personality and his aversion to complicated relationships. This made Chi Yexing more comfortable around him.

Since then, they had become friends, although they still held a certain level of wariness toward each other. But they had both matured, and their priorities had shifted. Chi Yexing was focused on his career, while Li Zhao had set aside his romantic pursuits to help his friend plan an unforgettable proposal.

Li Zhao took a sip of his drink, the fiery liquor burning down his throat and making him feel slightly numb. At some point, the waiter had brought dessert, and the young lady next to him was enjoying a small cake.

Li Zhao’s gaze landed on the cake, and he remembered that Tan Xilu liked this particular kind.

He asked the young lady, “Do you find this cake delicious?”

The young lady, taken aback by the sudden question, choked a bit on her cake, coughing a few times. She then blushed and nodded, replying, “It’s very delicious.”

“Do you really like it?” Li Zhao inquired further.

Her cheeks flushed even more as she nodded again.

When the girl lowered her head, Li Zhao suddenly noticed that she had a mole on her earlobe, in the exact same spot as the one on Tan Xilu’s ear. His heart couldn’t help but flutter, and before he even realized it himself, he blurted out, “Are you free tonight?”

Li Zhao was someone who didn’t discriminate between men and women, but in recent years, he had avoided getting involved with girls to avoid complications. He was still young and wanted to have some fun for a few more years. If he could settle down and marry Tan Xilu, that would be fine, but otherwise, he would still be subject to arranged marriages within his family.

At the end of the second-floor corridor, there was a large balcony where you could enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Li Zhao leaned against the railing, smoking a cigarette. It was dusk, and the sun had gradually dipped below the horizon, casting lingering sunlight through the balcony’s glass windows.

The orange spark of a lighter flickered on and off as Li Zhao exhaled a deep breath. He remembered that after he had spoken those words, the young girl had widened her eyes, stared at him for a moment, and then slapped him. He couldn’t help but chuckle.

He had underestimated the girl, thinking she was the type he could casually invite out as he used to at parties. Little did he know that the girl was from a respectable family and Lin Shan’s junior from elementary school.

The slap had instantly sobered him up, leaving a bright red imprint on his face. It was then that he learned the girl was no ordinary person.

Before leaving, Li Zhao had brought a bottle of ice-cold mineral water with him. He had to admit that the girl had quite some strength; his face still stung, and it was probably a bit swollen.

With one hand, Li Zhao pressed the mineral water bottle lightly against his face, massaging it gently. As the bottle’s coldness melted, his cheeks soon became wet. Li Zhao had no choice but to put the bottle down, take a tissue from his pocket to dry his face, and then dry the water bottle. He then resumed massaging his face, repeating the process.

When you were alone and quiet, it was easy to think about various random things. Li Zhao found himself thinking about the scene he had witnessed at the research institute that day.

He had visited the institute once, entering through the back door. As he entered, he happened to see someone coming out of the laboratory and walking to the front door. He also saw that person standing by the fountain for a while, tossing something in and then picking it up. Later, when he saw Professor Bowen, he mentioned it casually.

The day before, when he had mentioned his visit to the professor, they had arranged to meet today because the institute was on holiday.

Little A didn’t seem to like Li Zhao much. When he entered, Little A had growled at him in a hostile manner, unlike his friendly behavior towards Tan Xilu. But Li Zhao had developed a liking for this AI puppy and would often squat down to pet its fur.

This time, Li Zhao had come to inquire about 059’s situation and how he was doing now.

Professor Bowen said, “059 has been working as a training instructor recently. The new AI models that have just come out still need adjustments, such as refining their body language and facial expressions, making them more natural. He’s responsible for helping them with that.”

“Sounds like he’s doing well,” Li Zhao teased Little A. “But what I really want to know is, did his memory truly get erased? I’ve heard that these new AI models have powerful memory capabilities. What if he regains his memories someday?”

“That won’t happen. You’re talking about the latest AI models,” Professor Bowen explained. “059 was independently developed by Xiao Zhou. He’s different from the latest AI models, which are designed to mimic humans completely. They can’t be distinguished from humans in terms of appearance or actions, and they can even have a certain level of independent thinking. 059 can also have his own thoughts, but he is still subject to Xiao Zhou’s control. Compared to the latest models, he’s more obedient.”

Li Zhao asked, “So, Professor, are you saying that the latest AI models are even more advanced?”

Professor Bowen became excited as he talked about it. “Absolutely! They are truly remarkable.”

With a hint of pride, Professor Bowen continued, “But don’t tell anyone this: the latest AI models were actually developed by the previous generation of AI. It’s a program creating another program, isn’t that amazing?”

He went on to explain, “AI has precise data and programs; they don’t make mistakes. So, the AI models developed by machines are more advanced than those developed by humans. Their systems rarely encounter errors.”

“But, you know, no matter how advanced research technology is, there are always drawbacks because machines are cold and emotionless. Regardless of replicates…”

Chapter 40 – A Slap in the Face

Xu Ye slept straight through until after ten o’clock the next day. The big bed in the master bedroom was empty, and Chu Yu was not there.

He moved, feeling sore all over as if he had been torn apart and put back together again. Especially his thighs and waist; it was like they were about to fall apart. The hole in the back still had the feeling of being invaded by a foreign object. There was a slight feeling of coolness inside, which must have been something like ointment. The traces left by the man on his body were still vivid in his mind. Thinking of the scene where he cried and begged for mercy yesterday and then fell asleep in the bathtub due to exhaustion, Xu Ye’s whole body suddenly turned red like a ripe shrimp.

However, there was a sense of security in his heart. He wasn’t a particularly confident person, so he always put a lot of pressure on himself at work, striving for perfection in everything he did. He had always been doubtful in his interactions with Chu Yu. The question of ‘Why did he choose me?’ often unconsciously lingered in his mind. Last night, Chu Yu had given him a clear answer for the first time, dispelling all those messy thoughts.

It was hard to muster up the energy to crawl out of bed despite feeling sore all over. Xiao Xun was talking to Uncle Ye in the dining room. When he saw him coming downstairs, he smiled and said, “Young Master Xu, do you want to have breakfast now?”

“Yes please. Sorry for the trouble.” Xu Ye walked to the dining table, and the butler pulled out a chair for him very naturally. As he looked at the thick cushion that suddenly appeared on the leather chair, Xu Ye’s face suddenly became hot, and he absentmindedly sat down, flipping through the financial morning newspaper on the table.

“The fish fillet porridge was prepared for you as ordered by the Second Young Master.” Xiao Xun placed the white porcelain bowl in front of him and placed a few plates of light side dishes. “Second Young Master asked me to inform you that he will be back before 5 o’clock in the evening. If you plan to go out, please let Leopard accompany you. For your well-being, he prefers you not to dine outside. I’ve prepared several sets of different outfits for you and put them in your room.”

       “I understand, thank you.”

Only when Xu Ye saw those clothes did he realise xiao Xun’s meticulousness. The styles of the clothes were different, but one thing was the same–they all had high collars. He blushed as he stood before the mirror, pulling up the collar to cover the strawberry-coloured hickeys on his neck. Then he had Leopard drive him to the company. Lily had sent him an email reporting that there was a decline in sales in several branches, and he wanted to investigate the details.

Just as he had settled into his office, Xu Ting entered with long strides and sternly said to Lily, who was reporting to him, “Leave!”

The female secretary was frightened by his sombre expression, immediately backed out and closed the door.

“What’s going on?” Xu Ting looked at his son and asked, “How did you and the second son of the Chu family get together? Did he force you…”

“No.” Xu Ye cut him off, “The relationship between him and me is my private matter, and I don’t need to explain it to you.”

“Your personal affairs?” Xu Ting laughed in anger, “Do you know what people will say behind your back if they find out you got involved with him? They’ll say that you, my son, climbed into the second young master of the Chu family’s bed for a piece of land, offering himself to a man!”

Xu Ye’s gaze turned colder by the moment as if he were looking at a stranger. He let out a soft, sarcastic laugh. “So, you’re worried about what others might say. When you were scheming to get Song Wannian on your side for that piece of land, when you were playing matchmaker between Song Yueran and me, when you were bringing those women home in different ways to sleep with them, why weren’t you worried about what others might say…”

A sharp sound interrupted his words abruptly.

The side of Xu Ye’s face that was hit to one side gradually turned red.

“You…” Xu Ting was trembling with anger, “How did I end up with a son like you…”

Xu Ye’s dark eyes glowed with a strange and cold light, “Isn’t it too late to regret now?”

Xu Ting gritted his teeth, “Do you think people from the Chu family are good people? Do you know what means they use to get things done? If you offend them, forget this company; you might not even be able to protect your own life. You’re locking yourself up with a beast, and you think you can walk away unscathed?”

“I never thought about escaping unscathed.” Xu Ye lowered his eyes and said very frankly, “If he is willing, I will always be by his side.”

Xu Ting was completely stunned. After a long while, he shook his head with a pale face and said, “You are simply… beyond help!” After that, he slammed the door and walked out.

That slap was so powerful that the red marks on his face didn’t disappear for a long time. When Xu Ye finished handling the work matters and came out of the office, Leopard stared at his face. He suddenly emitted an aura of hostility and asked in a low voice, “Who hit you?”

Xu Ye smiled helplessly, “My dad.”

Leopard frowned, his expression relaxed a little, and he drove off.

When he returned to Hanguan No. 8, Xu Ye took an ice pack and applied it to his face for a long time, but the side of his face was still a little red. He sighed in frustration at the mirror, “Is this old fox going through menopause or something? He’s so hot-tempered…”

In the afternoon, he had been sitting on the recliner by the floor-to-ceiling window, reading performance reports. The sunlight was warm and gentle, and he fell asleep without realizing it. In a half-dream, half-wake state, he felt a slight itch on his cheek and opened his eyes.

The man sitting beside him was quietly watching him. His warm fingers were gently caressing his cheek, where faint red marks remained.

“…You’re back.” Xu Ye sat up.

“Did Xu Ting hit you?” Chu Yu asked directly. It seemed that he had already received the news from Leopard.

“When I went to the company this morning, I talked back to him a bit, and it ended with him slapping me,”

“What was the topic that made him so angry to the point of resorting to violence?” The man gently pinched his chin to adjust the angle, taking a closer look at the marks on his face.

Xu Ye pursed his lips, his expression somewhat awkward and embarrassed.

“Don’t want to say?” Chu Yu smiled and said, “That’s fine. I won’t ask further.”

“Master…” Xu Ye suddenly felt panicked.

“Don’t be nervous. I won’t be angry about this.” The man raised his hand and put the small ice pack on the table against his cheek with a gentle expression, “Xu Ye, I respect your privacy and believe in your ability to handle the problem. But when you encounter difficulties and cannot solve them with your own strength, I hope to be the first person you turn to for help. I am willing to stand behind you and be your support at any time.”

Xu Ye’s eyes trembled, and there was silent gratitude in his black and white eyes. He leaned forward and rested his head on the other person’s shoulder.

Chu Yu’s voice was close to his ear, and his deliberately lowered voice was a little more ambiguous, “If I had known that if I let you go out, you would come back with such traces, I should have made it so that you couldn’t get out of bed last night.” The palm of his hand stroked the back of his waist and pressed slightly harder, causing Xu Ye to tremble unconsciously. The tip of his tongue licked the earlobe with a moist and hot breath, intensified his trembling. “You know that a dom has a strong desire to control. When one sees marks on their sub’s body that are not his, they will want to tie their sub up and ruthlessly and punish them severely, making them remember who they belong to with their bodies.” The fingers inserted into Xu Ye’s pants went deep into the crack of his buttocks, teasing the poor hole that had been entered yesterday. “How do you think I should punish you, huh?”

“Uhn…Master…” Xu Ye gasped and softened his body, completely leaning into the other person’s arms.

This kind of reaction was developed under Chu Yu’s training. From the initial tightness and tension to its current natural and unreserved state, with no trace of resistance or barriers.

“I’ll give you a chance,” the man’s pitch-black eyes were like unfading stars. “Now, kiss me, and this time, I’ll pretend I didn’t see anything.”

Before he finished speaking, Xu Ye raised his chin, closed his eyes and pressed it against the smiling lips.
