Chapter 131 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 131: Extra Story Two

When Lu Jingning received a call from Lu Kongbin, he was still drowsy, lying in bed. It wasn’t until he fully understood the content of the conversation that he abruptly woke up, “What did you say?”

Lu Kongbin’s voice, unfiltered through the communication device, came through: “I said, you little brat, hurry down and open the door! I’ve been waiting downstairs for damn ages!!!”

Lu Jingning: “???”

Lying beside him, Wen Xingchen vaguely heard the earlier conversation. His lazy furrowed brow showed a hint of curiosity, “Is it your dad?”

Lu Jingning didn’t directly answer. He jumped up from the bed and swiftly ran to the window.

Looking down through the gap in the curtain, he could clearly see the two tall figures standing at the entrance.

He fell silent for a moment, then turned back to give Wen Xingchen a deep look, “And your dad too.”

Wen Xingchen: “…”

Lu Jingning was now wide awake in an instant. He hurriedly put on some clothes, his face expressionless as he scanned the somewhat messy environment inside the room. Unable to hold back, he muttered in frustration, “Damn it, should’ve asked Er Ge to lend us Lulu!”

He had previously felt something missing in his new place, and now it dawned on him—it lacked an all-around domestic robot!

Wen Xingchen’s dressing pace was considerably slower. He couldn’t help but lightly chuckle and reminded, “Remember to lock the door later.”

Indeed, it needed to be locked. Can’t let the elders see this chaotic scene, embarrassing.

Upon hearing this, Lu Jingning couldn’t help but grab a pillow and throw it at him.

Listening to Wen Xingchen’s laughter even after being hit, heat flushed Lu Jingning’s face uncontrollably. He muttered resentfully, “Making such a mess, I wonder who’s to blame!”

Lu Kongbin didn’t actually come with Wen Muqiao. They coincidentally met at the door.

Despite a slight easing in their relationship after becoming in-laws, each encounter still couldn’t avoid a standoffish air between them.

In this recent period, a rare moment of peace during the war, everyone had a bit of free time. Yet, as soon as they had this free time, they started contemplating the future.

These matters, some trivial and some crucial, were now on their minds. Among them, undoubtedly, the most concerning was the monumental event of continuing the family line.

For this reason, the two fathers, without any prior arrangement, made this trip, leading to this “encounter.”

Lu Jingning invited the two inside, poured each a cup of tea very obediently, then stood by, observing them, curious about the intentions of these two.

Lu Kongbin and Wen Muqiao already knew each other’s purpose, so they sat there, maintaining a reserved demeanor, waiting for the other to start.

For a while, the conversation veered off in various directions, none touching the main subject.

Wen Xingchen had been sitting silently on the nearby sofa. After a few hours, he couldn’t stay silent any longer.

He sat up, lightly tapping the coffee table with his slender fingertips, a faint curve on his lips, “So, rushing over early in the morning, what is it for?”

Probably due to wandering too much outside, the constantly changing Omega spouses, Wen Muqiao finally realized his previous mistake. Recently, he decisively proposed to Yu Zhi again, persistently asking for marriage until finally obtaining the certificate.

After remarriage, with Yu Zhi mediating between them, it somewhat eased the relationship between father and son.

Wen Muqiao still carried a trace of guilt in his heart. At this moment, he cherished this hard-won affection even more. He appeared more afraid of his son than before. Hence, Wen Xingchen didn’t ask, making Wen Muqiao unable to bring it up. He could only desperately signal Lu Kongbin, hoping he’d bring up the topic.

Lu Kongbin had previously hinted to Lu Jingning about the issue of procreation, but it didn’t end well. Seeing this situation, he couldn’t help but give Wen Muqiao a sarcastic look, “Are your eyes malfunctioning?”

This old man, normally he wouldn’t miss anything, yet now he’s trying so hard to make him the scapegoat?

Wen Muqiao was retorted, and both corners of his lips drooped.

After a moment of silence, he turned to Lu Jingning, his expression unchanged as he said, “Ningning, your dad is here today because he has something to tell you.”

Lu Jingning looked up at Lu Kongbin, “Dad, what’s the matter?”

Despite cursing Wen Muqiao in his mind countless times, Lu Kongbin forced a smile on his face.

After organizing his thoughts, he asked in a coaxing manner, “Well, Dad is getting old, and I’m thinking maybe it’s time to retire in a while…”

Chapter 131: Extra Story II

Lu Jingning chuckled, “What are you thinking? Given the current war situation, the military won’t allow you to retire for another twenty or thirty years, I reckon?”

“Cough…”

Lu Kongbin choked, fell silent for a moment, then continued, “What I meant was, don’t you feel your mom is actually quite lonely staying at home all the time?”

Lu Jingning didn’t catch on, blinked at him in confusion.

Lu Kongbin said, “Well… You and Xingchen have been married for quite a while. Although I know you’re both in a rising phase in your careers, young people sometimes shouldn’t just focus on work. You should also consider other things, think more about the future.”

“Other things?”

Lu Kongbin looked at him expectantly, “Kid, can you understand what Dad is saying?”

Under his sparkling gaze, Lu Jingning fell silent for a moment, then earnestly said, “Dad, if you’re worried about inheritance issues, you don’t need to consider us.”

“?”

Lu Jingning patted his hand gently and spoke sincerely, “Even if you and Mom give us another brother or sister, I won’t have any objections.”

As if to completely reassure Lu Kongbin, he added solemnly, “Big Brother and Second Brother probably think the same way. So, don’t burden yourself with these thoughts!”

“Phew—!”

Wen Muqiao, who had been quietly listening nearby, couldn’t hold back and sprayed the tea he’d just sipped all over when he heard the last two sentences.

Lu Kongbin’s face twitched viciously, his expression suddenly colorful and especially splendid.

Wen Xingchen, suppressing the smile at the corner of his lips, pulled Lu Jingning closer and whispered softly in his ear, “Dad means, when will he get to hold a grandchild?”

Lu Kongbin had never been more satisfied with Wen Xingchen, so understanding. He was almost moved to tears, “Yes! That’s what I meant!”

Lu Jingning was initially stunned, then, feeling the warmth brushing against his ear, he couldn’t help but blush slightly.

He glared at Lu Kongbin, unamused, “Can’t you just say it straightforwardly? Why beat around the bush like this?”

It’s not like I’d be upset!

Lu Kongbin grumbled in his mind, looking expectantly, “So, are you agreeing?”

“How did you conclude that?” Lu Jingning, contrary to his usual easygoing demeanor, felt his face growing hotter as he spoke, “As you said, Xingchen and I are in a critical phase in our careers, with important positions at hand, constantly having to visit the battlefield. When do we have the time?”

Though he had anticipated this answer early on, Lu Kongbin still looked visibly disappointed.

Lu Jingning glanced at him, suggesting earnestly, “Instead of coming to me, why not talk to Big Brother? He’s been married longer than us and there’s been no sign of a child. Isn’t he anxious too?”

Lu Kongbin’s expression turned serious, “How do you know I’m not anxious?”

[In the first galaxy, Lu Jiyuan sneezed repeatedly: ???]

Seeing his dad’s genuinely distressed expression, Lu Jingning comforted him by putting a hand on his shoulder, “Rare that you’re here. Stay for a meal, Old Lu?”

After lunch, the two dads left with low spirits.

Once Lu Jingning saw them off and returned to the room, the door was gently closed by someone waiting in the corridor.

Raising his head, he saw a tall figure enveloping him almost entirely.

Lu Jingning lifted his gaze, “What’s up, Wen Ge?”

Wen Xingchen bent down, almost at eye level with him, a faint smile in his deep eyes, “Really not considering it?”

Knowing what he meant, Lu Jingning felt his face heating up but retorted, “Consider what?”

Wen Xingchen gazed at him for a while, his expression soft, clearly not buying Lu Jingning’s act of feigned ignorance, “Actually, I’m looking forward to it. What do you think we should do?”

Lu Jingning tilted his head, his voice involuntarily lowering, “You know how hard I’ve worked to stabilize my position in the military. If now…”

Before he could finish, his lips were softly sealed, muffling the remainder of his words.

This kiss was deep and long, spreading a myriad of pheromones freely in the air.

When the person in his arms softened completely from the kiss, Wen Xingchen gently released him, his tender voice filled with endless indulgence, “No rush. Anytime is fine. I’ll wait for you.”

Feeling a bit dizzy from the kiss, Lu Jingning couldn’t help but curse inwardly.

Damn, using charm again, always breaking the rules!

Chapter 9 – Night Patrol Deity

Song Jun walked towards the dormitory building. When he entered the dormitory door, he saw a monk coming out.

The monk was Yun Po. When he saw Song Jun, he stopped in his tracks.

Song Jun looked at him in surprise at first, then felt it was impolite and looked away.

Yun Po took the initiative to talk to Song Jun, “Benefactor, you seem to have something dirty attached to you.”

Song Jun was stunned when he heard this. He was a little excited and almost wanted to reach out to grab Yun Po’s arm. He said incoherently, “Can you really see it? No, I mean, did you see something?”

Yun Po smiled, “No need to be alarmed. I can naturally see it, and I can also dissolve it for you.”

Song Jun seemed to have grasped a life-saving straw and asked hurriedly, “How to dissolve it?”

Yun Po took out a water chestnut folded from talisman paper from his arms, handed it to Song Jun and said, “Keep this talisman paper with you, and it will ensure that demons and monsters can’t get close to you.”

Song Jun reached out to catch it but saw that the water chestnut was ordinary, nothing special at all. To be honest, he still had some doubts in his heart.

Yun Po had already smiled and bowed his hand to leave. Before leaving, he gave Song Jun a business card and said, “Don’t worry, those ghosts will definitely not appear again. If it doesn’t work, you can come to me at any time, I won’t charge you.”

Song Jun looked down at the business card, which read ‘Yun Qingshan Hongyin Temple Yun Po’. He looked back at Yun Po, but he was already gone.

Yun Po came out of the dormitory building, walked to the roadside and saw Xia Hongshen still standing in front of the window, so he shouted to Xia Hongshen, “It’s done!”

       Xia Hongshen nodded.

Yun Po took out his mobile phone and said to Xia Hongshen, “Recording accounts!”

Xia Hongshen said nothing. Yun Po buried his head and wrote down Xia Hongshen’s debt on his mobile phone.

That night, Bu Hui came back and invited everyone to go out to sing. Song Jun also went there. They sang and drank. It was already twelve o’clock in the morning when they came back.

Song Jun was drunk and didn’t think too much. He went directly to his room and fell asleep. He slept peacefully until dawn.

Xia Hongshen was not sleeping. He was sitting in front of his desk, holding the glazed fragment in his hand. The shard kept flickering. Xia Hongshen closed his eyes, and the fragment gradually rose from the palm of his hand and suspended in mid-air.

The light of the fragment began to flicker fiercely. After a moment, Xia Hongshen saw two other lights that were also flickering in the darkness. They echoed the fragment in front of Xia Hongshen.

The spiritual energy contained in the fragments leaked out in large quantities, causing countless creatures throughout the city to commotion.

Suddenly, Xia Hongshen heard an angry shout from the air, “Who is it?!”

With a wave of his hand, he took the fragment into his palm and masked the aura.

But it was still a step too late. After a while, Xia Hongshen saw a person suddenly appear outside the window. He had small cheeks and bare shoulders, a ferocious expression, wearing a black robe and long boots, holding a long sword in one hand, and his body was floating mid-air.

When the man saw Xia Hongshen looking up at him, he was shocked and asked, “Who are you? Why can you see me?”

Xia Hongshen just looked at him and didn’t answer.

The man immediately said angrily, “I am Ye Zhong, the Night Patrol Deity1more info here. Why didn’t you answer my question? What was that thing just now? It actually made the whole city’s monsters and ghosts agitated!”

Hearing this, Xia Hongshen responded calmly, “It’s a little personal thing. I didn’t mean to disturb Your Excellency. I hope you can forgive me.”

How could the Night Patrol Deity be so willing to give up? He asked, “What is it? Show me!”

Xia Hongshen shook his head and said, “It’s really inconvenient.”

The Night Patrol Deity suddenly became furious. He held the long knife with his backhand and swung it. A strong airflow passed through. The lights in Xia Hongshen’s room suddenly flickered, and the sky and the ground were dark.

However, after the knife was swung, the tables and chairs in the house were intact, but Xia Hongshen disappeared.

Night Patrol Deity was startled, and the next moment, he felt a chill on his back. He immediately turned around and saw Xia Hongshen standing behind him. He was immediately shocked and said in anger, “Who the hell are you?!”

       Xia Hongshen was silent.

When the Night Patrol Deity’s words fell, he struck with the sword again. Xia Hongshen did not fight back but just dodged. The Night Patrol Deity was violent by nature, and he struck dozens of blows in a matter of seconds. Xia Hongshen’s figure flickered, and he retreated several miles away from the school.

Although Xia Hongshen never fought back, the Night Travel Deity never struck him with a single sword. He only felt that he was deliberately provoked by him and would not give up. A long sword danced in the wind, causing the surrounding world to change colour and inexplicably whipping up a frenzy of wind.

Seeing that he was unwilling to give up, Xia Hongshen looked solemn and suddenly disappeared from the sight of the Night Patrol Deity. The next moment, he had already grabbed his wrist and clasped it with his slender fingers to remove his weapon.

The Night Patrol Deity shouted angrily and held on to the sword tightly.

Xia Hongshen flipped his wrist, and the long knife slashed towards the Night Patrol Deity’s neck, almost cutting off his head at the sight.

Suddenly, a hurricane blew past, and someone shouted from the side, “Please spare his life, O Immortal!”

Xia Hongshen lowered his hands, pushed Night Patrol Deity away, took a few steps back and stood still.

He saw a person rushing towards him in the air. The person was wearing a white robe and a high hat. He had a smile on his face, but his tone was short of breath, and he said, “I implore the Immortal to cease the hand. Let there be no more conflict.”

Xia Hongshen said, “He was the one chasing me.”

The Night Patrol Deity was still shocked and confused. He didn’t know Xia Hongshen’s identity and didn’t dare to take action rashly.

The man in white stopped in front of the Night Patrol Deity. It seemed that he was blocking Night Patrol Deity, but in fact, he was protecting him. He said, “Under the City Deity’s authority, Bai Wuchang had come to see the Immortal.”

Xia Hongshen responded coldly, “I’m just an ordinary mortal.”

Bai Wuchang saw that he didn’t appreciate it, so he said, “Just now, the demons in the city were restless. The Night Patrol Deity detected that the spiritual energy in the school in front was flourishing, and he came to check. I wondered what was the reason for that?”

Xia Hongshen said slowly, “I am looking for the lost thing. I release my spiritual energy to search for a moment and then stop after a while.”

Bai Wuchang said tentatively, “If the Immortal Lord does this often, I’m afraid it will disrupt the order of this city.”

“It won’t,” Xia Hongshen said, “I already have it in mind.”

Bai Wuchang nodded, “That’s good. We will report this matter to the City Deity when we get back. We also ask the Immortal Lord to restrain himself a little from now on. Since you are a mortal, please abide by the rules of mortals.”

Xia Hongshen didn’t say anything and didn’t refuse.

Bai Wuchang and the Night Patrol Deity exchanged glances.

The Night Patrol Deity was still full of anger and unwilling to give up. Bai Wuchang glared at him fiercely. Finally, with a cold snort, he withdrew his long sword and stood beside him.

Bai Wuchang said, “Then I’ll take my leave.”

After saying that, he and Night Patrol Deity disappeared from the sky.

Xia Hongshen returned to school alone, went back to his room and lay down on the small bed. Everything was as usual.

The next day, Song Jun woke up in his room and suddenly realised that he was drunk again and had slept peacefully in the room all night.

He got up from the bed and saw that it was only around eight o’clock in the morning. Suddenly, he remembered the strange monk he met yesterday, and he reached inside his trouser pocket and pulled out the water chestnut paper, holding it in his hand and feeling a bit more relieved.

When Song Jun went to the water room to wash his face and brush his teeth, he met Xia Hongshen.

Xia Hongshen suddenly said to him, “I have something for you.”

Song Jun was still biting the toothbrush in his mouth and looked at Xia Hongshen in confusion.

Xia Hongshen stretched out his hand with a mobile phone chain hanging on his finger. Under the mobile phone chain was a transparent leaf, which looked like glass and crystal, with a beautiful shape and colour.

Song Jun felt a little strange, thinking that these things were more like gifts for a little girl, but when Xia Hongshen gave them to him, of course he was embarrassed to refuse and quickly accepted them.

Xia Hongshen said to him, “Don’t lose it.”

Song Jun nodded, thinking about how he could bear to lose what he had given him.

After returning to the room, Song Jun hung the mobile phone chain on his mobile phone and shook it in front of him. Then he took out the paper water chestnut that Yun Po gave him, hung it with his mobile phone chain, and decided to take it with him no matter where he went.

As the day passed, Song Jun once again gave up on the idea of dropping out of school, intending still continue.

He knew that he had been a person without much personal opinions since he was a child. He had no clear purpose and was easily swayed by others. He felt that it was unlikely for him to achieve anything significant in his life. Being able to live a stable and content life was already satisfying for him.

After the experiment was started, it became very fast. Within the deadline of one week given by Zhou Yingchun, he finally came up with the data results and handed them over to Zhou Yingchun for review.

Zhou Yingchun was very satisfied with the result and even invited him to a meal for the first time that day. However, Song Jun felt uncomfortable eating with Zhou Yingchun. If he had to choose, it would be better not to do it next time.

Before he knew it, it was already August.

The summer heat continued, but at that time, the atmosphere inside the school gradually became lively. Many graduate students who had gone home for the summer break had already returned to campus. By the end of August, undergraduate students were also returning to school to prepare for classes.

Song Jun still spent most of his time in the lab every day and occasionally went out for a walk when he had the opportunity.

Bu Hui had a girlfriend, so of course he couldn’t accompany him. However, Xia Hongshen and Song Jun had been to the supermarket several times together and treated him to dinner every time.

Song Jun secretly asked Bu Hui why Senior Brother Xia didn’t have a girlfriend.

Bu Hui said, “He has a poker face, scaring away all the girls.”

Song Jun really didn’t know if any girls had come to see Xia Hongshen. However, as they spent more time together, for some reason, Song Jun felt that it was normal for Xia Hongshen not to have a girlfriend. He found it difficult to imagine a day when Senior Brother Xia was with a girl. If that really happened, he would probably have been unhappy because there would have been no one to accompany him.

However, just this summer, several murders occurred outside the school and in other parts of the city that Song Jun didn’t know about, and the whole city was on edge.

The author has something to say:
As for why the protagonist is so weak, this story wouldn’t be scary if he was very powerful… This was taken into consideration when setting up, so at the current stage, the protagonist is just an ordinary person afraid of ghosts.  Of course, there might be upgrades or changes later on.
