Chapter 82 – Humans are quite tender

Chapter 82 – Humans are quite tender

All eyes were on Jian Luo’s figure. Jian Luo appeared nervous under the scrutiny of everyone. He glanced at Lu Shifeng, and even the dragon clan members who had been causing a commotion below dared not do so anymore.

If it were anyone else, they might still dare to compete and stir up trouble to get Jian Luo to choose them. But when it came to Lu Shifeng, they truly didn’t dare. The dragon clan was known for its strong possessiveness, and Jian Luo exuded the scent of a dragon all over him. It was obvious that he belonged to Lu Shifeng. If any dragon tried to cause trouble now, it wouldn’t be a simple battle.

This was practically a matter of life and death.

The dragons exchanged knowing glances and decided to remain silent, waiting for Jian Luo to make his own choice.

After some contemplation, Jian Luo looked up with curiosity. “Aren’t you supposed to be the safe bet?”

Lu Shifeng stood by his side, looking down at him from a higher vantage point. He raised an eyebrow, his expression resembling a smile but with an underlying threat. His tone was elegant yet carried a hint of menace. “In that case, keep your wager unchanged.”

Even though the words were as gentle as a spring breeze, they somehow sounded intimidating. Jian Luo hesitated for a moment, looking at Lu Shifeng’s smile. For some reason, he felt a chill running down his spine, and a strong survival instinct made him change his statement. “I choose you!”

Lu Shifeng raised an eyebrow. “A voluntary bet, Mr. Jian, no need to force yourself.”

“No…no,” Jian Luo chuckled awkwardly. “It’s voluntary. If it’s Lu Shifeng, please change it for me.”

The dragons below fell into silence.

Jian Luo, if you were kidnapped, you’d just blink your eyes.

Sitting there, Jian Luo was uncomfortable, but he was also very interested in the battle among the dragons. The venue here was a large arena where a virtual battle would take place once they entered.

The dragons were discussing how to set up a fair competition.

Just when they were all pondering the rules, Lu Shifeng spoke up directly. “Let’s begin.”

The other soldiers looked at the Dragon King with surprise.

Lu Shifeng took a step forward and entered the virtual battle chamber. He said, “Stay in your true forms, all of you.”

The room fell silent.

Everyone knew Lu Shifeng was strong, but no one had expected him to be this formidable.

Jian Luo’s heart raced as he asked his secretary, “What does staying in our true forms mean?”

“It means the marshal will use his human form,” the secretary explained in a hushed tone. “The other dragons will remain in their dragon forms.”

Jian Luo was shocked. He could hardly believe it. “Doesn’t that make it very dangerous?”

The battle had already begun on the screen. Lu Shifeng stood on the plain, with several dragons circling in the sky and others lurking on the ground not far away. The dragons watched Lu Shifeng vigilantly, carefully seeking an opportunity.

The secretary whispered, “The truly formidable ones are dangerous in their very essence.”

Confused, Jian Luo blinked, and suddenly, his body that had been standing in the grassy field disappeared. It all seemed to happen in an instant. When one of the dragons noticed, Lu Shifeng had already leaped onto its back.

The dragons in the sky wanted to swoop down but hesitated, fearing they might harm their comrades. A dagger swished through the air, and the dragon tried to dodge, but a momentary mistake led to Lu Shifeng’s victory.

“Bang!”

The elimination mark was hit, and the dragon was out of the competition.

Lu Shifeng almost had complete control of the field, and the other soldiers held their breath, witnessing a battle that was evenly matched and thrilling.

In the end, the remaining few dragons adjusted their strategy and collectively attacked Lu Shifeng from various angles, leaving him with no way to retreat.

It was truly dangerous!

Jian Luo’s heart raced, and it felt like it might leap out of his throat any moment now! The screen displayed a cloud of smoke, making it impossible to see the final result, leaving everyone in suspense. Jian Luo’s palms were sweaty, and he turned to his secretary, asking, “Who won?”

The secretary couldn’t be sure either and hesitated, saying, “I guess it must be the marshal.”

But this battle had been so thrilling that if Lu Shifeng had lost, it wouldn’t have been surprising at all.

Jian Luo bit his lip and kept his eyes fixed on the big screen, holding his breath, unknowingly praying for Lu Shifeng’s victory.

After a while, a mechanical voice came through, “All challengers have failed. Please exit the chamber promptly.”

The chambers for the challengers were all opened, and when the soldiers from the challenging team sat up, they were almost in a daze. The dragons exchanged puzzled glances and scratched their heads.

Finally, Lu Shifeng’s chamber opened. It was a 1v6 match, an overwhelming victory, and the silence in the room was broken by thunderous cheers.

Jian Luo let out a sigh of relief.

Lu Shifeng walked out of the virtual battle chamber, and in a few steps, he stood in front of Jian Luo. His handsome face carried a hint of the fierceness that had just come from the battlefield, a touch of pressure. He asked, “So…”

Before he could continue, Jian Luo suddenly felt something strange in his abdomen. He furrowed his brow, placed a hand on his stomach, and let out a stifled groan.

Lu Shifeng’s expression changed.

Even the dragons who had been watching this situation from a distance grew nervous when they saw Jian Luo’s sudden discomfort, their attention now focused on him.

The atmosphere became somewhat tense.

Jian Luo remained silent for a while, then he looked up at Lu Shifeng with a faint smile. “It seems like… it just kicked.”

Lu Shifeng’s tension eased, and he gave Jian Luo a disapproving look.

“It’s probably excited,” Jian Luo continued with a playful tone. “Because its dad is so strong and amazing!”

He stretched out the last word, half-jokingly.

Jian Luo had only intended to make a casual joke, but as he paused and saw Lu Shifeng’s expression, he was met with a pair of crimson, quite serious eyes.

Jian Luo gulped, and an unusual emotion stirred within him. His ears turned slightly red, his eyelashes trembled, and he whispered softly, “Just kidding.”

Lu Shifeng shifted his gaze away and said calmly, “Are you tired?”

“Just a little.”

“Alright.” Lu Shifeng turned to his secretary. “Take him back to eat something and rest.”

The secretary nodded.

Jian Luo couldn’t help but blurt out, “Are you going to work now?”

Speaking without thinking was a dangerous habit, and Jian Luo could certainly attest to that.

Lu Shifeng paused and then turned around. “If you find it boring, you can wander around. Except for the restricted areas marked in red, you’re free to explore the ship. We’ll arrive at our destination in three days, and by then, I can take you sightseeing.”

Jian Luo nodded. “Okay.”

But he wasn’t a child.

As they headed back, Jian Luo couldn’t help but ask his secretary, “We’re not going to engage in any battles this time, right? It still feels quite tense.”

“In reality, our purpose for this trip is to visit on behalf of the Emperor, and the danger level is not high. It’s just to show respect. On the other side, the Great Dragons are almost on par with our Emperor,” the secretary explained. “But everyone is a bit tense because this route we’re taking is frequented by interstellar pirates. There might be some unexpected situations, but don’t worry, the probability is very low.”

Almost as soon as he finished speaking, the lights in the corridor suddenly flickered.

Jian Luo and the secretary both stopped in their tracks, exchanging incredulous glances. They could sense the tension in the air.

The secretary reacted quickly. “Luo Luo, come with me.”

The two of them quickly returned to Lu Shifeng’s room. By this time, the corridor’s alarm had sounded, and a mechanical voice echoed:

“Full military alert.”

“Full military alert.”

The secretary instructed Jian Luo to stay inside the room and not open the door. “Luo Luo, please, stay in this room. It’s absolutely safe. Don’t come out, don’t open the door, just stay in the room, okay?”

Jian Luo understood the seriousness of the situation and nodded, saying, “I understand. You don’t need to worry.”

Seeing that Jian Luo was cooperating, the secretary left the room. Indeed, Lu Shifeng’s room had excellent soundproofing, and once inside, even the outside alarm couldn’t be heard. Jian Luo sat on the room’s sofa, feeling somewhat anxious.

*Ding.*

The sound of a message alert came from the communication terminal. Jian Luo quickly opened it and found a concise message from Lu Shifeng: “Stay in the room, I’ll be back soon.”

Surprisingly, those few simple words reassured him. Jian Luo replied, “Okay, don’t worry, I won’t wander around.”

After ending the communication, Jian Luo sat on the sofa, his mind filled with various thoughts. To pass the time, he opened the communication terminal to check the backstage of his livestream, tally the total earnings, see if there were any adjustments needed in the food vending section, and also check the recent styles of the popular streamers on the website.

As he was engrossed in this, a sudden pop-up window appeared, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t close it. Just as he was contemplating whether to restart the communication wristband, the pop-up window suddenly succeeded in opening, gradually revealing the face of a masked man who looked rather eerie.

His gaze was fixed directly on Jian Luo, making him feel uncomfortable all over.

Jian Luo furrowed his brow and had an instinctual feeling that this person was not to be trifled with. “Who are you?”

“Curious?” The man’s voice was hoarse, and he seemed to chuckle under the mask. “Heard you saved Darkstar from infertility. I’ve been wanting to see who you are. How come you look so delicate, like a little rabbit? Hope I didn’t get the wrong guy.”

Jian Luo remained silent, his guard up.

Chapter 70

The knot that had been suppressed in his heart for many years finally untangled. Even if the development of the whole thing was completely different from what Suo Yang expected, at least he understood his parents’ intentions and knew that he was not completely abandoned.

When he walked out of the bank with Shen Huiming, he felt lighter. The most difficult problem for him had been solved, and all that was left was to enjoy life and love.

Suo Yang called home, pretending to tell them that he and Shen Huiming would go back tomorrow but actually hinting to them that he already knew everything.

His parents were not good at expressing their emotions, and Suo Yang couldn’t explain them too clearly. Nevertheless, after the phone call, there was a sense that mutual burdens had been lifted from their hearts.

After that, Suo Yang took Shen Huiming back to his school. However, the guard refused to let them in at all.

The two walked around the outside of the campus and looked inside through the iron railings, at the snow-covered lawn and the students still wearing thin uniforms playing ball in the winter.

In the past, Shen Huiming took Suo Yang to see the mark of his youth. Now, Suo Yang finally had the opportunity to show Shen Huiming the place where he grew up.

Shen Huiming suddenly smiled, “Tell me, if we had known each other since childhood, would you have fallen in love with me earlier?”

Suo Yang glanced at him and asked with a smile, “Do you want to hear the truth or lies to make you happy?”

“Tsk, how could you ask such a question!” Shen Huiming looked at him helplessly, “How can I answer if you ask that?”

“If it were someone else, I wouldn’t even consider it. But if that person is you, let alone early love, it would be great if our engagement were settled before we were born,” Suo Yang said and then playfully asked him, “Mr. Shen, are you satisfied with that response?”

Shen Huiming didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, “Okay, I understand, this sentence is a lie to make me happy.”

Suo Yang smiled and then suddenly took his hand.

The two grown men were walking hand in hand on the roadside. Occasionally, passers-by would pass by and peek at them with their peripheral vision.

In winter, when their hands were exposed to the air, the backs of their hands would soon become cold, but the palms of their hands were warm when they were held together, and no one wanted to let go.

They wandered outside until dark. Shen Huiming asked him to choose a restaurant that he often went to before and then go back to the hotel after dinner. Suo Yang said, “There is no restaurant that I often go to. I used to go home to eat. Besides, after so many years, I feel a bit unfamiliar with this place…”

In fact, Suo Yang felt that it was a bit regretful. It had been almost ten years since he went to college.

In the ten years since he left home, this city had not changed much, but if it really hadn’t changed, Suo Yang still felt that it had become unfamiliar.

The other side was still the other side, but this hometown was no longer his hometown.

This was probably a feeling that everyone living outside would have—a perpetual sense of wandering. Even if one bought a house and settled down in a certain city, one still couldn’t get rid of that feeling.

But fortunately, his Shen Huiming could make him feel at ease.

Shen Huiming could probably understand how Suo Yang was feeling at this moment. He took the other person’s hand, held it in both hands, held it like it was a treasure, and rubbed it while exhaling, “It’s cold.”

Suo Yang looked at him with a smile, leaned forward slightly, and pressed his face against the cold back of Shen Huiming’s hand.

“It’s so cold.” Suo Yang said.

Shen Huiming muttered, “Yeah, let’s just find a restaurant with a heater.”

       He said, “Don’t freeze.”

Suo Yang looked at him and smiled, taking his hand into a nearby old restaurant.

Although it was a randomly selected restaurant, the taste was pretty good. The two of them had a good time eating, and the chill on their bodies was gone. Afterwards, they returned to the hotel and lay down early, but Suo Yang was not sleepy at all.

He was held by Shen Huiming and looked at the ceiling with his eyes open.

Shen Huiming was careful and knew that he was not asleep, so he raised his hand and turned on the lamp beside the bed.

“Did I disturb you?” Suo Yang asked softly.

Shen Huiming leaned over and kissed him, “Your breathing is very light. It’s strange that you can disturb me.”

The two were lying on the bed, leaning against each other. Shen Huiming said, “Can’t sleep?”

“Well,” Suo Yang said, “My mind is a little confused.”

He was wondering if he should go home and visit before leaving tomorrow.

“Before we leave tomorrow, let’s go back one more time.” Shen Huiming seemed to be able to read his mind. “Say goodbye, and bring some gifts for Uncle and Auntie. I went there empty-handed today; it feels a bit awkward.”

Suo Yang closed his eyes and leaned his face against Shen Huiming’s chest.

       “Huiming.”

“Huh?” Shen Huiming kissed Suo Yang’s forehead gently.

       “Why did I meet you?”

Shen Huiming lowered his eyes to look at him and heard him say, “All along, I have never felt that I have been particularly bad or good luck; everything is ordinary to the point of not being worth mentioning, but this time, my luck was particularly good.”

Shen Huiming smiled, “Who wouldn’t? I was lucky enough to meet you.”

Suo Yang looked up at him, suddenly raised his legs, turned over, and sat on Shen Huiming.

“Want to compare luck with me?” Suo Yang put her hands on his shoulders, “Then you really can’t beat me.”

After saying that, he leaned forward and kissed Shen Huiming on the lips, “I can’t sleep anyway, so let’s do something to help me sleep.”

Suo Yang turned off the desk lamp in the hotel room, and the quilt was lifted up to wrap the two of them.

They didn’t know when it started snowing again outside, but it was warm inside the room.

======

Before Suo Yang and Shen Huiming left, they returned to Suo Yang’s house again. This time, Shen Huiming was holding gifts in both hands, which the two spent the whole morning carefully selecting.

Suo Yang’s parents were both here, and they were a little surprised to see them back.

However, their behaviour was not much different from yesterday. They were still cold and untalkative, but Suo Yang kept smiling.

Shen Huiming saw that Suo Yang was in a good mood; he was also happy, and he treated Suo Yang’s parents more enthusiastically.

In fact, the most fearful thing was guessing the other person’s thoughts. When Shen Huiming knew that Suo Yang’s parents had actually accepted them, he felt less pressure.

Each family had its own style of getting along with each other. He had no position to judge what was good or bad, and there was no need to integrate fully. He only needed to do what he should do.

The two didn’t stay at Suo Yang’s house for too long. It was almost time, and they were ready to go to the train station.

When they stood up, Suo Yang’s father said, “It snowed last night, and the road is not good today.”

Shen Huiming glanced at Suo Yang and then heard his father say, “I’ll give you a ride.”

Suo Yang smiled, and Shen Huiming smiled with him, “Thank you, Uncle! I’ll trouble you then.”

Suo Yang’s parents followed them out the door and accompanied them to the train station.

Along the way, Suo Yang’s parents didn’t say anything. Shen Huiming sat in the back with Suo Yang. He kept talking about their lives and work. It seemed like he was chatting with Suo Yang, but in fact, he was talking about Suo Yang. The two people in front listened.

Shen Huiming felt that the parents of these children must be the type who wanted to ask but couldn’t and wanted to care but didn’t know where to start, so it would be better to help them.

He talked happily later, telling everything about how he and Suo Yang met and what his plans were. Suo Yang naturally understood what he meant and didn’t stop him, and even occasionally said a few words.

When they arrived at the train station, Suo Yang’s parents did not follow them in. They parked the car on the side of the road and watched the children get out of the car.

At this moment, Suo Yang suddenly felt like he was back in his college days. At that time, his father would send him here every time, and then he would go to get the ticket and enter the station alone.

Suo Yang often left without looking back. He never thought about what would happen to his father after he left. But once, he was almost at the ticket office and walked a long way. When he turned around, he found his father still standing there looking at him.

They never said they missed each other, let alone try to stay. If he wanted to leave, his parents would always send him off calmly and tell him to do everything he should do.

It wasn’t until the moment Suo Yang turned around that he realised that his parents couldn’t let him go either.

After so many years, he still remembered that scene clearly.

He and Shen Huiming were standing by the car. Suo Yang’s mother said, “Go, take care of your things and don’t leave them behind.”

Suo Yang was silent for a few seconds and then said, “Mom, can I give you a hug?”

Shen Huiming looked at Suo Yang and found that his eyes were red.

Suo Yang’s mother, who was still in the car, was stunned for a moment when she heard her son’s words. After that, she got out of the car and hugged her son.

Suo Yang’s family rarely behaved like this towards each other. Suo Yang couldn’t even remember the last time he hugged his parents.

“Dad…” Suo Yang finished hugging his mother and looked at his father.

The father in the driver’s seat finally got out of the car and walked up to his son. The two hugged each other tight.

When leaving, Suo Yang’s mother’s eyes were red. Suo Yang said, “We will come back to see you in a while.”

Shen Huiming said, “Uncle and Auntie, don’t worry, we will live a good life.”

Living a good life with your lover and doing a job you like was probably the life that parents most wanted their children to live.

“Let’s go.” Suo Yang’s mother said, “It’s too late to wait any longer.”

Suo Yang couldn’t hold it back and went over to hug her again and then left with Shen Huiming.

On the train back, Suo Yang fell asleep leaning on Shen Huiming’s shoulder. This time, he slept soundly and even had a dream.

In the dream, he and Shen Huiming held a wedding in his hometown. It was a simple ceremony, but everyone, including family, lovers, and friends, was present.

Under the blue sky and on the green grass, he and Shen Huiming were wearing the same style of suit. They held flowers at the same time and walked to the front side by side. They faced each other, faced their friends and relatives, faced the sky and the future.

In the dream, the two swore an oath tacitly. Suo Yang couldn’t hear what was said, but it didn’t matter if he couldn’t hear it. He could understand everything from everyone’s expressions.

His lover truly loved him, their family members truly wished them well, and their friends truly celebrated them.

What could be more beautiful than this?

When Suo Yang opened his eyes, the train was still speeding. Outside the window was the snow-covered land, and his hand was being held by Shen Huiming.

       “Awake?”

“Yeah.” Suo Yang said, “I dreamed about our wedding.”

Chapter 21 – It’s hard to escape the Omegaverse trope!

Chapter 21

“Ah?” Qu Di couldn’t react for a moment. Was Wen Gu asking him?

Wen Gu seemed a bit embarrassed, leaning closer and repeating in a hushed tone, “Do you know what type of Omega Tang Xiyan likes?”

Qu Di looked at the inconspicuous blush that appeared on Wen Gu’s usually cool face and belatedly realized that Wen Gu might have taken an interest in their artist.

He was just a young assistant, utterly clueless about how to handle such a situation without making it awkward and stiff.

“Well… you shouldn’t be asking me. I’m just… just his assistant. When it comes to his personal life, perhaps you should ask him directly.”

“But… the only person close to him right now is you. You know, when one Omega asks another about this, it seems quite intentional. I’m afraid he won’t like it.” Qu Di didn’t expect that even the usually prestigious and respected Omega like Wen Gu would be equally cautious in Alpha-Omega relationships, even placing himself in a somewhat inferior position.

He seemed to see a reflection of his past when he was with Yang Ji, carefully trying to please him. It made him feel a twinge of sympathy.

“How did you come to like Xiyu Yan?” Even though he was their artist, the truth be told, in Qu Di’s eyes, Tang Xiyan was like a child who never grew up, always needing someone to take care of him. As an Alpha, he didn’t believe Tang Xiyan could take care of an Omega properly.

Wen Gu shyly smiled and asked, “Don’t you find him interesting?”

“…”

“In this industry, I’ve seen too much. Almost everyone here wears a mask and lives a fake life, and I’m no exception…” Wen Gu seemed lost in his own world, appearing to have many things to say, but in the end, he just smiled and said, “He’s interesting, and I think having him in my life would make it equally interesting. Trying something new is never a bad thing.”

“Is that so?” Qu Di wouldn’t interfere with someone else’s choice, so he agreed to help Wen Gu find out.

Wen Gu’s eyes lit up, and he thanked him, saying, “Thank you.”

“But I can’t guarantee I’ll be successful. After all, I’m just his assistant. Whether the two of you become a couple or not is beyond my concern.”

“Cut! Great job, take a break and let’s shoot the next scene later.”

Qu Di heard the director’s voice and hurried over to Tang Xiyan. Tang Xiyan noticed the drink in his hand and took it from him, saying, “Hey! Where did this drink come from? Did you buy it secretly?”

“Well…” Qu Di glanced back at where Wen Gu had been standing just now, only to find that Wen Gu had left quite quickly.

“It’s from Wen Gu. He asked his assistant to bring it to you.” This way, it should be fine. It conveyed Wen Gu’s goodwill, but it didn’t seem deliberate.

“Really? Well, please thank him for me.” Tang Xiyan didn’t seem to have any suspicions about why Wen Gu had given it to him and not others.

Watching the person in front of him down half a bottle of the drink in one go, Qu Di replied, “Thanks.”

The morning shoot quickly ended. Qu Di received a call from Qiu Fei, who said that some fans had come to visit the set with a lot of gifts, and he had already coordinated it. Qu Di was asked to go outside to collect them.

“Remember to buy some water for them,” Qiu Fei reminded.

“I know.” Fans had come a long way to this remote location, and they couldn’t leave empty-handed. At the very least, they should show Tang Xiyan’s care for them.

Qu Di told Tang Xiyan to have his meal and went to collect the gifts. However, when Tang Xiyan heard that fans had come, he expressed his desire to go with him.

“Fei-ge said it’s not good for you to go out casually. It might cause chaos, and there are probably paparazzi and stalkers out there,” Qu Di explained.

“It’s fine. It will help our show get more exposure!” Tang Xiyan called out to the director, “Right, Director?”

The director had apparently overheard their conversation and was pleased that the actors were promoting the show in this way. “Go ahead, but come back as soon as possible. You have another scene in the afternoon.”

“Sure!” Tang Xiyan put his arm around Qu Di’s shoulder and didn’t give him a chance to object as he pulled him away.

Red Pear Film and Television City was quite large, and the two of them took a caretaker’s car to the entrance. As expected, there were many people gathered, holding blue banners and support banners in Tang Xiyan’s support colors.

Some of them had professional cameras, apparently planning to take a few photos, but they were blocked at the entrance by security guards.

The sun was scorching, and they didn’t know how long they had been standing. Some people looked a bit lethargic, even though they had brought umbrellas and hats. Many people’s cheeks were still reddened from the sun.

In fact, Qiu Fei had not intended for Tang Xiyan to make an appearance during this event. When he handed over the arrangements, he had only mentioned that his assistant would receive the gifts. However, they came with cameras, and if Tang Xiyan hadn’t decided to come, they would have spent the whole morning with just Qu Di.

Tang Xiyan, who was usually carefree, seemed to be taking it more seriously this time. He adjusted his wig and asked, “Is it weird? Will they think I look ugly?”

He had just finished shooting and was still in his costume, wearing a wig on his head. He had changed into a pair of flip-flops, which didn’t make for an elegant look.

“It’s not weird at all. It’s cute. When you go down there, just don’t talk too much. Just say thank you. Got it?” Qu Di was really afraid that Tang Xiyan would say something outrageous and make it the headline news the next day.

This wasn’t the first time something like this had happened. He had heard that once Tang Xiyan wanted to compliment a fan’s makeup, but when he got closer, he found out that the person was wearing double eyelid tape. He kindly tried to help them remove it, saying, “There’s something stuck on your eyes.”

Tang Xiyan just blushed and said with conviction, “I just wanted them to feel my care and tenderness, okay? My double eyelids are so big, who would have thought someone would need to stick them!”

“Okay, okay. You’ve said it hundreds of times already. I almost thought you were going to give me a whole speech.”

Fortunately, things went smoothly, and no major incidents occurred. They successfully received the gifts prepared by the fans. Tang Xiyan also expressed his gratitude and allowed them to take a few photos. Qu Di was on the side, nervous, hoping that no one would

notice the flip-flops hidden under his clothes.

Everyone left satisfied.

Back at the film set, Wen Gu had changed into regular clothes and was holding a script, rehearsing a scene with Shu Yi.

The two of them returned with two bags of items. Tang Xiyan went through them, found two bottles of drinks with cute cartoon salted fish designs on them, and realized they were gifts from fans, intended for Shu Yi and Wen Gu.

“Here, fan gifts.”

Shu Yi politely declined, saying, “Thank you, but I’m not a big fan of these. You can keep them.”

Wen Gu, on the other hand, accepted the drink and said, “Thanks.”

“No problem. Thanks for the drink this morning.”

It turned out to be just a return gift. Qu Di had over thought it. But then, wasn’t that typical of Tang Xiyan? His words were straightforward and lacked any hidden meaning.

Qu Di looked on, beginning to worry. If Wen Gu did manage to win over Tang Xiyan in the future, those fans would go crazy…

He watched Tang Xiyan, who was sitting under the parasol, seemingly carefree, reading comments with no worries. Then, he observed Wen Gu, who was reading about their rumored relationship, and he also watched Tang Xiyan, who was reading comments and laughing. Qu Di felt a headache coming on.

Chapter 21 – Snake demon takes the body

Chapter 21

The face of this puppet appeared as if its features had been smoothed and made indistinct, making it impossible to see clearly. However, its body shape seemed to resemble that of a man.

Suddenly, a deep sigh escaped from within him. “Chong Ying, is this the place where you and your mother once struggled to survive? You must have gone through a lot in the past.”

“…” Haowei.

Seeing that Si Lan had misunderstood, Haowei didn’t explain. He lowered his gaze, surveying the surroundings. He felt an indescribable heaviness in his heart, which seemed to grow stronger the longer he stayed in this place.

He had no memories of his time in the mortal realm during his past lives because that was when he first “fell ill,” his internal energy was in turmoil, and he killed hundreds of thousands of malevolent spirits.

While those malevolent spirits had committed numerous sins, their convictions and punishments should have been decided by the Lord of the Underworld. His actions were a blatant violation of the natural order, which required him to descend to the mortal realm to undergo tribulations as penance.

In this life, he carried the burden of being the Star of Ill Omen, with a lonely and arduous destiny. He couldn’t have what he desired, loved, or cherished, and he would ultimately become detached and unattached.

His heavenly mother, seeing the hardships of his current life, had pity on him and, before his descent, consulted with the Divine Emperor. It was agreed that once he returned from his tribulations, he would forget everything related to the mortal realm.

He only knew that he had lived for twenty years in the mortal realm under the name Chong Ying, and nothing more.

He took the puppet with an indistinct face from Si Lan, and his fingers gently caressed it. In an instant, a picture flashed through his mind, showing two hands intertwined together, as if he were holding someone else’s hand and slowly carving the puppet.

Si Lan manipulated the formation once again, and they appeared in a new illusory world.

Haowei quickly refocused, putting away his previous thoughts, and stared in the direction Si Lan was looking. This time, they were in a bridal chamber.

Two incense burners released fragrant smoke, “Double the Happiness” characters adorned the window, red banners hung at the doorway, and a brown pearl curtain remained still in the absence of wind. On the rosewood table, there was an untouched wine jug.

This was the bridal chamber set up for Si Lan’s third wedding, and from the look of it, it was the scene before his new bride underwent her heavenly tribulation.

Si Lan lightly tapped the table, sighing softly. He hadn’t expected that the bridal chamber, which he thought he would never need, was being used now.

He lay down on the bed, patting the space beside him, inviting Haowei to come up. “We’ve had a tiring day. Rest here for a while.”

Haowei’s expression was peculiar, and he didn’t respond to Si Lan. Instead, he sat on a nearby bench, closed his eyes, and pondered, looking like an old sage.

Si Lan couldn’t help but chuckle. He didn’t force the matter and closed his eyes to rest.

Before long, he fell asleep.

Haowei, however, kept his eyes open. Gazing through the lingering smoke, he looked at Si Lan lying on the bed.

Si Lan took off his jade crown, and his dark hair fell freely. His joyful expression accentuated the pinkish hue of his complexion, making him resemble a charming bride.

Haowei suddenly realized that his thoughts had taken a strange turn. He quickly adjusted his gaze and tried to maintain a composed expression.

In the following days, Si Lan continued to work on the Extremely Melodic Eight Trigrams Formation, seemingly unaware of the impending danger.

Haowei couldn’t help but wonder if Si Lan was overly optimistic or simply accepting of his fate. Instead of focusing on escaping, Si Lan seemed more interested in studying the formation. After three days, he finally mastered the secrets of the Extremely Melodic Eight Trigrams Formation, displaying the excitement of a child who had just acquired new knowledge.

Haowei marveled at how Si Lan, with such a broad-minded heart, had managed to maintain his position as the Demon Lord.

On the third day, Jiuying arrived as promised.

A colossal serpent head materialized out of thin air, with a pair of crimson, ferocious eyes. Jiuying regarded Haowei when he suddenly appeared within the formation and raised an eyebrow, scanning him from top to bottom.

After a moment, he spoke half-jokingly and half-seriously, “Could it be that this child is your offspring?”

Si Lan was taken aback and quickly denied, not wanting Jiuying to discover Haowei’s true identity. He deflected the conversation, “Have you harmed the disciples of the Mystic Spirit Sect and the Serpent Charm Clan?”

Jiuying hissed, and a snake-shaped aura swirled around him. He responded coldly, “If they willingly came to seek their deaths, I had no choice but to oblige.”

Hearing this, it seemed that nothing untoward had happened to the Mystic Spirit Sect and Serpent Charm Clan in the past few days.

Si Lan sighed, “After you took my physical body, could you promise to light incense for my parents every Mid-Autumn Festival?”

Jiuying looked somewhat displeased, “Are you making demands of me?”

Si Lan quickly clarified, fearing that Jiuying might discover Haowei’s true form and attempt to take control of his body. He changed the topic, “I promised my parents that I would visit them every Mid-Autumn Festival.”

After hearing this, Jiuying hesitated for a moment and then gave a curt “yes.”

The Eight Trigrams Formation underwent changes, and the illusory surroundings seemed to merge with new scenes.

Si Lan and Haowei found themselves in a vast cave. The cave’s walls had been eroded by water over the years, leaving behind colorful and eerie marks. The dim light illuminated the cave with a haunting quality.

Within the cave flowed an underground river, its waters trickling gently. On the other side of the river stood Quze, who had been waiting for them. When he saw Si Lan’s arrival, he appeared indifferent. However, upon noticing Haowei standing beside Si Lan, his eyes showed signs of wariness.

Behind Quze, a gigantic serpent head sculpture stood upright, displaying slight differences from the one Si Lan had seen before.

This sculpture had closed snake eyes and retracted fangs, as if it were in a deep slumber.

Si Lan was deeply moved and said, “I never expected that, after living for a thousand years, I would end up nurturing someone else’s body.”

Haowei looked up at Si Lan and, upon seeing the bridegroom on the bed, couldn’t help but feel uneasy. “Have I been misunderstanding something?”

“Haowei.

It seemed like he was worrying for no reason.

At this time, he was still thinking about the two of them forming a bond!

Jiuying gradually revealed its appearance, blocking the snake head statue behind it. Its eyes darkened, and a powerful aura instantly surged towards Si Lan, lifting him into the air and bringing him in front of it.

It circled around Si Lan, a satisfied expression on its face.

A race that should have gone extinct in the ancient times unexpectedly still had descendants after ten thousand years.

Tsk tsk.

It couldn’t hide its excitement, transforming into a tiny flower. At this moment, flower had turned into a snake spine, hanging above Si Lan’s head.

The tip of the tonyflower was like a sharp tool, piercing through Si Lan’s nape, causing Si Lan to reveal a pained expression. “Ugh…”

“I’m going to replace your spine with that of a snake.” Jiuying not only intended to restore his humanoid body but also planned to restore its true body, which would undoubtedly require snake bones.

Si Lan was in so much pain that his face turned ashen, cold sweat forming on his temples, and his hands clenched tightly, suppressing the tremors.

Haowei, seeing this, couldn’t help but have a tense expression. He tried to approach Si Lan to help, but was stopped by Quze.

“Ugh…”

Suddenly, a cry of pain from Si Lan echoed in the air. Haowei raised his head and saw that Jiuying had disappeared. All that was visible was a bright white light that enveloped Si Lan tightly. In the next moment, the light burst forth, and the world in front of them became blindingly white.

“Ugh… Ugh…” Si Lan’s cries of pain grew more urgent, continuously emanating from the light.

Haowei didn’t expect that Si Lan’s path in life was not one due to optimism but rather a lack of fear to face death.

He felt a sense of frustration as if he were trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. However, everything was obscured by the strong light, and he could only rely on Si Lan’s aura to move toward Si Lan’s path, but was stopped by Quze’s iron arm.

This troublesome disciple…

Out of anger, Haowei directly broke Quze’s iron arm.

Quze grunted, but still showed no fear. He used his remaining left hand to draw a long sword and attacked Haowei again.

Haowei evaded the sword energy and instantly appeared in front of Quze. He struck Quze’s chest with a palm.

Quze fell from mid-air and tumbled to the ground, vomiting blood.

In mid-air, the blinding white light gradually dissipated, and Haowei, with red eyes, looked at the figure in mid-air.

The person still wore the same blue clothes and jade belt, but for some reason, he felt that the entire person had changed.

“Si Lan” moved his neck and stretched his body. Slowly descending from mid-air, he had a deep and amused look in his eyes. “I’m very satisfied with this body.”

It had been a hundred thousand years, and he could finally touch himself again.

Thinking about this, Jiuying burst into laughter, with an arrogant and carefree expression. His hands gathered energy and struck the surroundings violently, causing rocks to tumble, and the earth to shake.

In front of him, the originally closed snake head statue slowly opened its eyes, revealing two dark doors. The right eye’s door held the transformed humanoid snake mother, while the left eye’s door held a purple-gold four-cornered box.

That box was none other than the Golden Crescent Immortal Box.

After venting his emotions, Jiuying walked strangely toward the Golden Crescent Immortal Box, holding a corner of it. He muttered, “Don’t worry… I will use the snake mother’s blood to resurrect you…”

After saying that, Jiuying suddenly reached out to the snake mother, and in the next instant, the snake mother was brought directly in front of Jiuying.

Jiuying pinched the snake mother’s neck, her face gradually losing its blood color, and blood spilling from the corners of her mouth. She struggled to hit Jiuying with both hands, but to no avail.

Jiuying’s eyeballs rolled rapidly, his face covered in sinister and terrifying snake patterns, and his nails turned into sharp weapons that pierced the snake mother’s neck.

Seeing that the snake mother’s life was hanging by a thread, an untimely voice suddenly rang out.

“Ah, I look a bit ugly like this, don’t I?”

“I still think that I should possess my own body.”

Chapter 96 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 96

On the day the elimination rounds began, loyal fans of the Bounty League were already waiting in the live broadcast room. Amid the passionate commentary, the barrage had already begun to heat up.

Yes, commentary.

As the tournament entered its latter half, the official channel had invited the world-renowned StarCraft commentator Brother Douzi to the scene.

The first match of the afternoon was in Group A.

At this moment, Brother Douzi was enthusiastically introducing the players who were about to take the stage.

Because there were many players in this free-for-all mode, and there was still some time before the match, the explanations didn’t seem rushed at all.

In fact, the audience had already seen the player list on the official website. So, while listening to the introductions, they were also chatting in the barrage.

“Why aren’t Bai-Lu teaming up today?”

“Are those in front the shippers of Bai-Lu too? Allies! I was planning to finish this match and then continue waiting for Bai Chen’s game!”

“I suspect the official groupings are intentionally splitting our CP, making a big fuss about it!”

“I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. Although Bai Chen isn’t in this match, we have Xiao Zou Zou. I feel like Zou Zou and Ning Ning are strangely compatible!”

“Now that you mention it, in the previous matches, they were indeed quite favorably treated…”

“Forget about Lan Yuan, wherever Lu Jingning stands, I think he can match well with anyone!”

“Cultists, retreat! I firmly stand with Bai-Lu for ten thousand years!”

While this discussion was in full swing, a batch of new viewers suddenly flooded into the live broadcast room within a short time.

At first, these newcomers clearly weren’t familiar with the environment and didn’t pay attention to the CP combinations displayed on the interface. After a while, they began to post barrage messages.

“Hey hey hey, where are the Imperial Navy’s big brothers and sisters?”

“Right here! Is everyone ready with our cheering slogans?”

“Wen Xingchen, Lu Jingning, and Yan Hebin, all the way! Imperial Navy, let’s go!”

“Ugh, I’m here to root for the main characters! The Xing-Jing duo is fantastic! You two must stay in love forever!”

“Absolutely insane, the Imperial Navy’s deadly duo! When Xing-Jing appears, who can contend with them? Lu Jingning, Wen Xingchen, charge ahead for us!”

After a series of comments, the original audience members were a bit bewildered, and the CP fans on both sides began to “communicate” through the barrage.

Bai-Lu shippers: Hey hey hey, new comrades, have you got it wrong? It’s clearly Lu-Bai. What’s Xing-Jing?

Xing-Jing shippers: What? What’s this Bali-Lu combination? Our school forum has already exposed the details of the main characters’ relationship, no exaggeration, it’s for real!

Bai-Lu shippers: You big-headed ghost! Where did these cultists come from!

Xing-Jing shippers: You all can just get lost! We’re the real deal here! What’s going on with the Bounty League? Can the Imperial Navy just freely form CP? Who are these bunch of ignorant fans!

This exchange almost escalated into a full-blown argument on the main screen.

The room administrators, realizing that things were getting out of hand, quickly imposed a chat restriction.

After a while, they cautiously reactivated the chat, and someone stylishly posted a link on the main screen: “Tsk tsk tsk, go check it out for yourselves. Inside, you’ll find all the details! Open your eyes and see who is truly Lu Jingning’s official partner!”

The Bali-Lu shippers, who had been infuriated, clicked on the link one by one. They had come to pick a fight but found themselves shrinking back as they read through the detailed relationship revelations.

How could this be? Lu Jingning already had a partner all this time?!

The Bai-Lu shippers felt like they had gone from owning the world to having nothing in an instant. Only they knew what they had been through!

The Imperial Navy’s students, seeing the “cultists” finally quiet down, happily took over the barrage market once more, cheering wholeheartedly.

After a long while, the live broadcast room’s screen finally lit up.

At this point, all the participants in Group A were already on the map.

Using a god’s-eye view, Brother Douzi briefly analyzed the players’ positions, and after a while, the camera switched to the players on the field.

Then, what caught everyone’s attention was not the intense battle they had imagined, but two hands tightly holding each other.

The barrage became unexpectedly quiet for a moment.

All the billions of viewers across the interstellar space: ???

If it weren’t for the title of the live broadcast room flashing prominently in front of them, they might have mistaken this for a romance show.

Even Brother Douzi, who had commented on countless matches, was at a loss for words for a while. Finally, he managed to say, “As we all know, every season of the Bounty League always brings numerous highlights to capture our attention, and this year’s league is no exception. At least, for the first time during a live broadcast, we get to taste something fresh, uh, lovey-dovey? Well… all I can say is that this is indeed a different kind of spectacle.”

The barrage was full of ellipses.

Some things are better left unsaid.

For Lu Jingning, the beginning of this match was exceptionally lucky. Although the spawn points were random, he was not far from Wen Xingchen. After crossing one intersection, they met directly. Now, all that remained was to find Yan Hebin.

However, Lu Jingning didn’t expect Wen Xingchen to make such an intimate gesture during the live broadcast.

In that moment of tightly clasped fingers, he suddenly understood the meaning of their chat conversation from yesterday.

So, the best way to make Wen Ge even happier was to publicly display affection in front of the live broadcast audience?

Lu Jingning subconsciously looked up at the sky, which was clear without a single cloud. However, there might be an invisible camera silently watching them.

He gently touched the tip of his nose and, unusually, felt a bit shy.

The display of affection was quite significant, and even with his thick skin, it was a bit embarrassing. However, after some thought, he decided not to resist it.

They walked hand in hand, and along the way, they encountered other participating players. Wen Xingchen dealt with them effortlessly.

In this process, it felt like they were glued together. Their hands never parted. Every time the camera focused on their tightly clasped hands, the audience felt as though they had been force-fed dog food, choking but unable to deny that Wen Xingchen’s strength was quite intimidating.

After all, the competitors in the same arena had all entered the elimination rounds and were no longer the uneven mix of skills seen in the preliminaries. When it came to elimination, it was like child’s play for Wen Xingchen.

If not for the corpses scattered all around, their stroll through the forest would have resembled a romantic date during the honeymoon period.

The Imperial Navy’s Xing-Jing fans couldn’t help but cheer loudly in the barrage, feeling utterly satisfied with the CP show they were witnessing.

They could keep this going a little longer!

In stark contrast to their excited mood were the Bai Lu CP fans.

Just a moment ago, their CP had been forcefully dismantled, and now, they were faced with what was supposedly the real main couple. Their cheeks felt a burning sensation, and their emotions were complex.

What was even more unbearable for them was that, at this moment, they were strangely starting to see the two people on the screen as a compatible couple?!

If it wasn’t for the exceptionally bright stars in the holographic map or the fact that the Imperial Navy’s fans were exceptionally passionate, they might not have been influenced, but they couldn’t deny that even they were somewhat swayed. It was truly hateful!

The Bai Lu CP fans remained silent, watching the match, determined to hold onto their last bit of stubbornness.

Even if they couldn’t shout cheers for the CP they supported, they had to stay steadfast and unwavering until the very end! What’s wrong with being a cult? Cults have their dignity too!

Just at that moment, in the map of the match, Lu Jingning and Wen Xingchen finally found Yan Hebin, and the three of them met successfully.

Yan Hebin glanced over at their hands held tightly together but quickly looked away as if he hadn’t seen anything. He asked, “What’s the plan for next?”

Lu Jingning thought for a moment. “Wen Ge has enough points already, and I’m not in a hurry. Let’s help you eliminate some players first. After you secure enough points as a safety net, we’ll decide what to do next.”

Wen Xingchen added, “Sounds good.”

Yan Hebin looked at the three of them and asked, “So, who’s going to go?”

Lu Jingning was just about to consider this question when he faintly heard a sound in the distance. He suddenly turned his head to look and saw a figure emerging not far away.

Seeing that Wen Xingchen was about to take action, Lu Jingning swiftly used his grip to pull the person back to his side and said, “Don’t act, he’s one of us.”

As soon as Lan Yuanzhou’s face appeared, he was immediately labeled as “one of us.” He looked at the three people standing side by side and couldn’t decide whether the situation was a blessing or a curse.

Lu Jingning maintained his friendly attitude, “Lan Yuanzhou, what a coincidence. We meet again.”

Lan Yuanzhou’s mouth twitched involuntarily.

It was indeed quite a coincidence, but they really didn’t need this much coincidence!

Upon seeing Lu Jingning’s name in the same group list, he had prayed all night that he wouldn’t run into this guy. But fate was clearly not on his side.

Lu Jingning remained warmly welcoming, “Are you here to team up with us?”

Lan Yuanzhou choked for a moment and then, after a long pause, nodded heavily, “Yeah, let’s team up.”

“Well, that’s great!” Lu Jingning said happily and pointed at Lan Yuanzhou while addressing Yan Hebin, “He’s the one! Lan Yuanzhou is an excellent catcher!”

Yan Hebin replied, “That’s fine.”

“???” Lan Yuanzhou had a puzzled look on his face. “Catch what?”

“Yan Hebin is my roommate. He’s not very good at close combat, so we need to protect him and ensure he advances. We’ll go catch a few players for him to get some kill points,” Lu Jingning explained and then smirked, “You were so eager to join our team, right? Since we’re not exactly close, it wouldn’t be too much to request a life-and-death pact or something like that, would it?”

His attitude was so friendly, and his tone was so matter-of-fact that Lan Yuanzhou almost coughed up blood. When did he ever want to team up willingly? Wasn’t it all because of that damn coercion?

He had never seen such shamelessness before!

However, given the current situation, just dealing with Lu Jingning alone was challenging enough. Additionally, Wen Xingchen, who was from another region, was clearly a formidable opponent.

In this disadvantageous position, Lan Yuanzhou reluctantly agreed, “Fine, you guys wait here.”

Seeing Lan Yuanzhou’s desolate departure from the screen, Brother Douzi fell silent for a moment and said, “You can tell that Lu Jingning and Lan Yuanzhou have already established a deep friendship during their previous partnership. At least, for someone of Lan Yuanzhou’s caliber, willingly taking on such an errand is a very sincere display.”

The audience fell even quieter.

Willingly? Are you sure???

Brother Douzi intentionally ignored the rapidly scrolling barrage, cleared his throat, and changed the topic, “But I’m curious. If Lan Yuanzhou hadn’t shown up just now, how would they have allocated tasks? Would Lu Jingning have taken matters into his own hands, or would it have been Wen Xingchen?”

This was indeed a profound question, but unfortunately, the audience’s attention was fully focused on the two individuals on the screen.

Since Lan Yuanzhou had departed, they decided to take a rest.

Yan Hebin’s gaze was still fixed in the direction Lan Yuanzhou had gone, and he asked, “Aren’t you worried he won’t come back?”

Lu Jingning replied, “No, he’ll come back.”

Yan Hebin inquired, “Why?”

“Because if he doesn’t come back, at most, we’ll lose one player. But at the same time, he’ll have to face a chase from both me and Wen Ge over a long distance,” Lu Jingning said with a smirk. “It’s a very practical issue. Having one more enemy is not as good as having one more friend, after all. Isn’t it nice to stay alive?”

Yan Hebin simply said, “…”

That made sense.

Wen Xingchen, seeing that Lu Jingning was about to continue talking to Yan Hebin, used a bit of force in his hand to pull him closer.

Lu Jingning, taken by surprise, bumped into a broad chest and momentarily looked puzzled. He raised his head and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Wen Xingchen slightly lowered himself and pressed Lu Jingning against a tree trunk. His voice carried a hint of tempting ambiguity, “Didn’t you say yesterday that you wanted to make me happier? Well, we have some free time now, and since it’s something we agreed on, can we consider fulfilling it?”

Lu Jingning, hearing his suggestive words, blushed slightly, and he tried to push away, but Wen Xingchen’s grip was firm.

He was caught off guard and hesitated, “We’re still in the middle of a match.”

“It’s better to do it during the match,” Wen Xingchen’s voice was low and seductive. His slender fingers gently lifted Lu Jingning’s chin, making their gazes meet. “Besides, I have some questions that need answers. For example, what does ‘tenderly gazing’ look like? Is it something like this?”

His words brushed past Lu Jingning’s ear, and the touch felt so real that it ignited a subtle spark throughout his body.

The gesture was too seductive, and even though they were in a holographic map, Lu Jingning couldn’t help but become a bit distracted. His throat made a faint, involuntary noise.

Wen Xingchen seemed to notice his small reaction, and the curve of his lips became even more pronounced. He leaned in closer and said, “Actually, my boyfriend always has too many admirers, and it’s something that bothers me. So, I thought we should take a chance to assert our dominance. Do you think it’s feasible?”

Although he was asking, his tone sounded more like a statement.

Amid Wen Xingchen’s somewhat forceful attitude, Lu Jingning couldn’t help but smile. He gently placed his hands on Wen Xingchen’s shoulders and hung his body softly against him. Tilting his head, he said, “What can I say? Can I say no?”

Saying that, he raised his head and kissed him deeply.

A long and lingering kiss.

As their tongues entwined, Lu Jingning’s waist softened, and he momentarily lost his balance, but Wen Xingchen’s grip held him steady. The live broadcast froze at this excessively ambiguous moment.

The entire live broadcast room had already fallen into complete silence. After a while, it was completely covered by the sounds of gopher-like squeaks.

Xing-Jing shippers: Ah, we can handle this PDA! Keep it going! Continue! We can totally handle it!!!

Bai-Lu shippers: We were wrong! What’s Bai Chen compared to this? Wen Xingchen is the real deal! He is way too flirtatious!

At this moment, everyone was immersed in this beautiful and unparalleled love… How absurd!

In a remote galaxy, Lu Kongbin, who was secretly watching the game in the corner of the battleship, almost smashed the communication terminal in his hand.

A passing robot asked with great concern: “Sir, your face is dark and your blood is surging. Do you need to arrange medical treatment?”

Lu Kongbin didn’t say a word, he just raised his foot and kicked the blind robot far away.

It’s a pity that he is in a place too remote. Otherwise, he would have wanted to fly directly to the scene and pick out the little bastard named Wen Xingchen and give him a good beating.

Lu Kongbin’s sudden irritable attitude attracted other soldiers on the battleship to look over.

The adjutant came over with concern and asked, “What’s the matter? Is there anything going on?”

Lu Kongbin rubbed his fists fiercely: “Yes! I really want to kill someone!”

Seeing that he was clearly on the verge of going berserk, the adjutant turned around and left without saying a word: “Err…please continue.”

After all, no one has any interest in seeking death.

Chapter 81 – Who are they betting on?

Chapter 81 -Who are they betting on?

Jian Luo brought back some crayfish.

Today’s harvest was quite abundant, which was really satisfying. Originally, he thought he wouldn’t be able to enjoy many Earth foods, but it turned out to be okay. Every time, he seemed to unexpectedly discover pleasant surprises, which made him very happy.

The resting area was very close, so after returning, he put the crayfish down and went to take a shower. Actually, since he had boarded the warship, he hadn’t been feeling quite comfortable. Perhaps it was because he was a bit seasick. Although it had improved a lot, he still wanted to freshen up and sleep.

After finishing his shower and coming out, Jian Luo pushed open the bathroom door and saw Lu Shifeng waiting outside.

The Marshal sat elegantly on the sofa, raising an eyebrow as he looked at him. “You’re out?”

Jian Luo scratched his head for a moment and nodded. “Yeah.”

The room still had the scent of crayfish. Jian Luo realized this and took a few small steps to sit next to Lu Shifeng.

“Try this crayfish.” Jian Luo opened the food container. “Actually, I made it as an experiment. See if it tastes good.”

To prevent the Marshal from getting his hands dirty, Jian Luo had even brought gloves. Although he himself didn’t always like using gloves. It was mainly because with plastic gloves, the sharp crayfish shells could easily puncture them.

Lu Shifeng watched Jian Luo peeling the crayfish and then started peeling one for himself.

Jian Luo commented, “You don’t actually need to peel them. Our human stomachs might have trouble digesting the shells, but you can just… swallow them whole.”

After Lu Shifeng finished peeling, he handed it to Jian Luo.

Jian Luo hesitated as he looked at the crayfish meat in front of him. “Is this for me?”

Lu Shifeng’s blood-red eyes stared at Jian Luo, and there seemed to be a glint of light in his eyes. He raised an eyebrow, “You’ve been salivating.”

“…”

Well, honesty was the best policy. Jian Luo took it with a slightly embarrassed tone. “I’ll just have one.”

Lu Shifeng glanced at him and there was a hint of a smile in his eyes.

When the Marshal peeled the crayfish, it was much easier than Jian Luo’s efforts. His fingertips had a few scales that seemed sharp. When the crayfish shells touched them, they opened easily. Each of them had one, and they took turns eating.

Finally, Jian Luo wanted to make a comment. “Dragon scales are really nice!”

Lu Shifeng glanced at him. “Did you have concerns about them before?”

“…”

Jian Luo wiped his hands, feeling a bit embarrassed. He spoke honestly, “I think the scales are great, especially in the summer. I really like them.”

Lu Shifeng continued to look at him.

“I mean…” Jian Luo’s heart was pounding as he spoke, “they feel so cool. Even though it’s sometimes a bit hot, the scales are really refreshing, colder than hugging an icebox!”

Lu Shifeng said, “So, does that mean you’d find me uncomfortable in winter?”

“I wouldn’t dare,” Jian Luo hurriedly said, “In winter, you can always warm up, right?”

There was a moment of silence in the room.

Jian Luo looked at Lu Shifeng’s stern face. When he didn’t smile, the Marshal’s expression appeared somewhat severe, with a strong presence that was somewhat intimidating.

Jian Luo couldn’t help but hesitate about whether to say more.

After scaring him a bit, Lu Shifeng finally smiled and pointed to the remaining two crayfish on the table. “There are two left, help yourself.”

If people knew that these were the precious dragon scales, coveted by many and capable of protecting against all poisons, being used as a personal air conditioner and portable heater, they would probably be furious.

Jian Luo didn’t feel sleepy at all after eating.

He stretched lazily and took the initiative. “Dragon brother, didn’t you arrange a training mission for me? I want to give it a try.”

Lu Shifeng lounged on the sofa, probably due to his recent return from the battlefield. There was an indelible air of fierceness about this man that made him less refined and more dangerous. He stood up and looked down at Jian Luo. “Let’s go.”

Jian Luo stared at him, looking somewhat clueless. “Where are we going?”

“Aren’t we going to train?” Lu Shifeng said. “I’ll take you for some fun.”

As they walked through the corridor, the soldiers they encountered would salute them.

“Marshal!”

“Hello, Marshal!”

“Marshal…”

Then, when it was time for the person to salute Jian Luo, everyone looked at each other. Some of the young soldiers who didn’t know Jian Luo suddenly didn’t know what to call him. Should they address him as “Madam” or by his title? In the end, the more clever ones would call out:

“Hello, Chef!”

“Good day, Cook!”

Jian Luo waved and greeted those who saluted him. For a human, being able to exchange greetings with nobility in this way was quite remarkable.

As they entered the training hall, Jian Luo thought his training area would be private as it was the last time he was here. However, this time, there were quite a few people here.

Normally, he wouldn’t be nervous, but when he saw so many people at once, he felt a bit overwhelmed. Jian Luo looked at Lu Shifeng and asked, “What are we training for?”

“Aren’t we bored?” Lu Shifeng glanced at him. “We’re here to watch them play.”

“Alright.”

The Dragon race was naturally strong and skilled in combat. They spent their lives either fighting or preparing for a fight. When people noticed Jian Luo, they gave him curious looks.

Jian Luo felt a bit nervous, but not overly so. He was used to facing large crowds as a live streamer. Other than some nervousness, he was fine. Surprisingly, the Dragon race did not act as he had feared. Instead, they were quite welcoming.

“Is he the chef who cooks crayfish?”

“He’s so cute!”

“Is he pregnant? I can smell a baby.”

“Lower your voice, what if you startle him?”

The Dragons chattered like this, looking at Jian Luo with pity, as if he were a little kitten. Lu Shifeng stood beside Jian Luo and spoke firmly, “Quiet.”

In an instant, everyone fell silent.

Lu Shifeng led Jian Luo to the front row, and the Dragons watched their Dragon King and a tiny human with curiosity.

Lu Shifeng said, “Continue your group match.”

When there was no fighting to be done, the Dragons often engaged in group battles. The winning team would receive substantial rewards. Others could also bet on which team would win. A brigadier leading a team asked Lu Shifeng, “Marshal, would you like to join in?”

Lu Shifeng shook his head. “You all go ahead.”

The most exciting part of these battles was the betting. People would bet on their favorite teams and win big if they were right. A secretary named Jin asked Jian Luo, “Lolo, would you like to bet?”

Jian Luo nodded. He looked at the teams and suddenly remembered the group he had eaten hotpot with earlier. He said, “I’ll bet on them.”

Jin nodded, “Alright, do you want to place a wager?”

Originally, it wouldn’t have been a big deal, but Jin’s words caught the interest of the other Dragons. What kind of bet could a human offer that would entice Dragons?

The Dragons looked at Jian Luo expectantly.

With all eyes on him, Jian Luo hesitated for a moment before speaking, “If that team wins, I’ll cook any dish they want, anything they fancy.”

Once he said this, the entire place erupted in excitement. The Dragons had a deep affection for Jian Luo, especially after he had introduced them to crayfish.

The team Jian Luo bet on, the ones he had shared hotpot with, were now incredibly motivated to win. The brigadier asked Lu Shifeng, “My lord, shall we begin?”

Lu Shifeng sat above them, toying with something in his hand. He asked, “What did you ask me before?”

The brigadier was puzzled.

Lu Shifeng reminded him, “The previous question.”

“Uh… would you like to join in, my lord?”

Lu Shifeng stood up. “Yes.”

For a moment, there was silence in the arena. Then, the Dragon soldiers erupted into deafening cheers. Everyone was excited to see the Dragon King join the battle. They all wanted to get guidance from the War God himself and witness his unparalleled skills firsthand.

But there was a problem.

Jin, the secretary, looked at Jian Luo. “Lolo, whom will you bet on? Do you want to change your wager?”

With all eyes on him, Jian Luo hesitated. Not betting on your own man… that wouldn’t be good.

Chapter 20 – It’s hard to escape the Omegaverse trope!

Chapter 20

Qu Di tossed and turned all night, thinking about how, in a moment of impulsiveness, he had ended up with Shu Yi. He felt like he had no self-control.

He licked his lips, even though he had already washed up, he still felt the taste of peach liqueur in his mouth, fresh and sweet, filling his entire being.

He sighed and finally got out of bed. He found his notebook where he recorded his inspirations. It was filled with notes and some quirky drawings.

He had already started preparing his first work after graduation. When he had nothing to do as a child, he liked to daydream and create a world of his own in his mind. That’s why he chose this major in college.

He had already outlined the story and had a rough idea of what he wanted to write. He took out his laptop and typed the first word…

When inspiration struck, time always flew by. Unbeknownst to him, seven hours had passed, and it was time to get up. Qu Di leaned back in his chair and stretched his stiff shoulders and wrists. He was tired but satisfied. If he could, he would continue writing, but for now, he was still Tang Xiyan’s assistant.

Since they were staying on the same floor, after Qu Di finished his morning routine, he planned to call Tang Xiyan to have breakfast. Just as he reached Tang Xiyan’s door, the door next to it opened. Shu Yi was dressed casually, looking sharp and well-groomed from head to toe. He seemed energetic, a stark contrast to Tang Xiyan, who often looked tired in the morning.

It was clear that artists who didn’t need assistants to worry about them were different…

“Good morning,” Shu Yi walked over, greeting Qu Di as if they were old friends. “Are you here to wake Xiyan up?”

Qu Di nodded. “Yes, you’re up quite early. Why didn’t you sleep in a bit?”

Shu Yi had a knowing look. “I was too happy last night and couldn’t sleep, so I woke up early.”

Others might have asked what happened, but Qu Di knew all too well. His cheeks flushed as he said, “I… I need to wake Xiyan up. I won’t say more.”

“Alright, see you later,” Shu Yi seemed to be in a good mood and even walked away with a spring in his step.

Qu Di only snapped out of it after Shu Yi disappeared from his sight. He scolded himself for being so useless, as he always seemed to be teased by Shu Yi every time they met.

He knocked on Tang Xiyan’s door. Tang Xiyan was probably still asleep. After waiting for a while, the door finally opened. Tang Xiyan, with a messy head, stared at him with a displeased expression. “What do you want?”

Qu Di had grown used to Tang Xiyan’s morning grumpiness. At first, he would try to cheer him up, but he had realized that Tang Xiyan was all bark and no bite. As long as he gave him some space to cool down, he would return to normal in no time.

Qu Di pushed him back into the room. “Get up quickly, we’re going to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant.”

At this time of day, Tang Xiyan was usually in a terrible mood when he just woke up. He immediately returned to his bedroom, fell onto the soft bed, motionless. His voice sounded muffled. “I’m so tired… I won’t have breakfast. I’ll sleep a bit more.”

“Today you have morning scenes. You can’t skip breakfast.”

Tang Xiyan fell silent, and Qu Di could tell he was not in the mood to argue. Qu Di tried to pull him up, but Tang Xiyan pushed him with a little force and brought Qu Di down with him. They were now very close, and Qu Di caught a whiff of the distinct scent of Alpha pheromones. He had never quite figured out what this smell was, but it was like the scent of the sea breeze when standing by the shore. Alpha had pulled him down and placed his hand on Qu Di’s waist. He squinted, turning to look at Qu Di, “You should get more sleep.”

Suddenly, he fell silent. The two of them were very close, and he could clearly see the tiny hairs on Qu Di’s smooth face. His eyes were captivating, with pupils slightly larger than usual, giving off an innocent vibe. At this moment, he seemed somewhat angry, with a hint of redness at the corners of his eyes, frowning at Qu Di. Tang Xiyan felt an itch in his heart…

How did he not notice before that Qu Di was quite good-looking, even more so than an Omega?

“Will you please get up for me!” Qu Di pulled Tang Xiyan’s hand and tried to get him up.

Tang Xiyan was annoyed by the disturbance. With a slight force, he pulled Qu Di closer, and Qu Di fell beside him, very close. He could clearly smell the Alpha’s pheromones, and he had never quite figured out what this smell was, but it was like the scent of the sea breeze when standing by the shore.

After pulling Qu Di down, Alpha’s grip on his waist lessened. Seizing the opportunity, Qu Di pushed him away and got up.

“I see you’re awake now. Get up quickly. Today, I’ll allow you to have half a cup of milk tea,” Qu Di said, and added, “Less sugar, no cream, and pearls.”

Normally, Tang Xiyan would have jumped up and complained, but today he was unusually quiet. Qu Di felt something was amiss. He approached and touched Tang Xiyan’s forehead. “You’re not running a fever.”

Tang Xiyan turned away, and his voice suddenly lowered, sounding muffled. “You can leave. I’ll get up right away.”

“I can wait for you here,” Qu Di said. He used to wait in Tang Xiyan’s room when he lived with him, and sometimes he even helped him tidy up the messy room.

“No,” Tang Xiyan’s voice grew louder, and it was clear that he wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Qu Di didn’t think much of it and eventually left the room, reminding him before closing the door, “I’ll be right outside. Hurry up.”

If he had stayed a little longer, he might have noticed the sudden increase in Alpha pheromones in the room, and that the carefree Alpha had unexpectedly become hard in the presence of a Beta.

His face turned bright red, like a child seeing their crush for the first time, feeling unsure and somewhat scared. He couldn’t believe that he was reacting to a Beta. Was there something wrong with him?

He lay there motionless, his mind finding countless excuses. Perhaps it had been too long since he had relieved his desires… and it was early in the morning, and everyone was full of energy. Qu Di had coincidentally appeared in front of him…

It had nothing to do with him. It was just a physiological response.

Two minutes passed, and he finally convinced himself. The feeling gradually subsided, and he got up to wash, but he realized he couldn’t let Qu Di come to his room early in the morning. A single man shouldn’t behave like this. An assistant should maintain a certain distance from their artist.

But he was carefree, and he soon forgot the incident and behaved as usual. When he went out, he placed his coat on Qu Di’s shoulders, and Qu Di naturally put it into his bag. At breakfast, Tang Xiyan was already full, so Qu Di ate slowly. Tang Xiyan leaned against him like a boneless man, ignoring all thoughts of “maintaining a distance.”

Qu Di shrugged and asked, “Aren’t you going to eat more?”

Tang Xiyan looked at the oatmeal and fruits he had finished and said with some disdain, “I can’t eat that anymore. I’d throw up if I did.”

Qu Di didn’t try to persuade him. He concentrated on his own food. At this point, Shu Yi came over with a small piece of cake and placed it in front of Qu Di. He glanced at Tang Xiyan and said, “I got too much of this. You can have it.”

Tang Xiyan heard Shu Yi’s voice and sat up, stretching lazily. “Isn’t this the limited edition brownie? I’ll take it!”

The hotel’s buffet breakfast, especially the morning pastries, were very popular. Brownies, in particular, were often unavailable if you didn’t come early. At least Tang Xiyan, who loved to sleep in, had never seen them.

Shu Yi lightly pushed his hand away before he could touch it and said with a smile, “Let’s not eat this. It’s high in calories. Let Qu Di have it.”

Tang Xiyan found it strange that Shu Yi was being somewhat passive-aggressive, but he appeared to have a good attitude. Since the artist didn’t want to eat it, he thought Shu Yi was just trying to be friendly with Qu Di.

Today, Tang Xiyan’s scenes were concentrated in the morning and mostly involved acting with Shu Yi. As for Qu Di, he had no scenes but was present. Tang Xiyan brought two bottles of drinks, giving one to Qu Di.

Qu Di was pleasantly surprised; they usually had very little interaction.

“Thank you,” he said.

Wen Gu, the naturally gentle and tender Omega, was very pleased. He hadn’t made a mistake. Qu Di was indeed a very nice person. It seemed like asking for his help wouldn’t be a mistake.

The two fell into a brief silence. Qu Di thought Wen Gu had nothing more to say, but suddenly, Wen Gu asked, “What kind of Omega does Xi Yan like?”

Chapter 20 – Humanoid Little White Dragon

Chapter 20

Coffin?

Haowei raised his gaze, his eyes showing surprise.

“The sorcerer said that the Golden Jade Immortal Box was originally used to hold the essence pill of the deceased celestial beings. Later, it somehow ended up in the world of cultivation and was taken by the Xuan Ling Sect. When the first Sect Master of the Xuan Ling Sect passed away, he told his disciples that the Golden Jade Immortal Box contained the Vermilion Jade Pearl, which could protect and nurture the disciples’ cultivation, ensuring the eternal glory of the Xuan Ling Sect.”

“Vermilion Jade Pearl…” Haowei pronounced each word slowly. The Vermilion Jade Pearl was just an ordinary pearl that could gather the essence of heaven and earth, assimilating the essence of the sun and moon. If Jiuying wanted to advance their cultivation using the Vermilion Jade Pearl, it would be faster to figure out how to unseal its remaining eight heads.

“Wu Dao, please look up ancient texts again to see if there are any records of Jiuying and Bian Rang.”

Haowei had a feeling that the relationship between Jiuying and Bian Rang might not be as simple as the scant mentions in the ancient books.

Although Jiuying were one of the three ancient demon races, for the Son of Heaven, Bian Rang, their cultivation level was nothing more than a drop in the ocean. So, how did Jiuying manage to kill Bian Rang?

It might have been a swift, fatal sword strike, causing his soul to scatter.

“Understood.” Yu Wudao bowed to accept the order and then glanced past Haowei as if trying to assess the person in the hot spring.

Haowei, noticing this, instinctively blocked Yu Wudao’s line of sight.

Yu Wudao looked puzzled, and Haowei, with a stern expression, explained, “Don’t look. He has a piercing gaze.”

“…” Yu Wudao.

“Wu Dao, have you discovered his true form?” Haowei changed the subject.

“I’m still investigating. After I took a drop of his blood last time, I sensed the aura of a phoenix in his bloodline, so I suspect he might be an ancestor of the phoenix.”

“An ancestor of the phoenix…” Haowei mused slowly, lost in thought. Then he added, “Continue your investigation, and also, ahem… look into his history of having three wives.”

As he mentioned this, Haowei’s eyes flickered slightly, but luckily, Yu Wudao was still looking down, not noticing the anomaly.

“Of course.” Yu Wudao accepted the order and hesitated for a moment before asking, “Your Majesty, aren’t you going to help the Demon Lord break the formation? With your current cultivation, breaking the Extreme Sound Eight Trigrams Formation is child’s play.”

Haowei heard this and narrowed his long eyes, saying coldly, “He doesn’t need it.”

Previously, when he had transformed into a small white dragon, hiding in Si Lan’s arms, he had noticed that when Si Lan was under control and facing Jiuyings’ intimidation and Quze’s betrayal, his heartbeat remained normal. It wasn’t as rapid as it had been last night during the nightmares.

He was curious, wondering how long this calm Demon Lord could maintain his composure and what skills he had for a counterattack in dire situations.

Yu Wudao couldn’t help but feel that Haowei had become somewhat childish. In the past, even when Haowei’s physical form had turned small, his demeanor had remained mature. Yet now, in just a few days, it seemed like all the childishness within Haowei had surfaced.

It was the same face, but he appeared to be a different person.

What had this Demon Lord done?

Yu Wudao was curious but kept a calm expression, acknowledged the order, and then disappeared within the Six-Pointed Star Formation.

Haowei turned around, and through the thin soundproof barrier, he looked at the peacefully sleeping Si Lan.

A few strands of black hair clung to Si Lan’s cheeks, and water droplets slowly trickled down, caressing his fair skin. His long, dense eyelashes glistened in the mist.

His breathing was shallow, and the water’s surface moved gently. The mist enveloped him like a dream, making him appear like an exquisite sculpture of a deity.

Haowei’s gaze lowered slowly to Si Lan’s neck, and he saw the bite marks he had left there the last time.

The central area of the bite mark had scabbed and formed a scar, while the surrounding skin held faint traces of purplish bloodstains, creating an exclusive seal.

Haowei’s throat moved, and, as though guided by some unseen force, he leaned closer to Si Lan. The temperature of the hot spring had softened the surrounding air, enhancing the richness of Si Lan’s scent.

He breathed in Si Lan’s fragrance deeply. Strangely, he had never found anything about Si Lan’s scent off-putting.

His nostrils were filled with the scent of Si Lan, and strangely, he felt an inexplicable closeness to it. He was drawn to it.

Haowei’s lips lightly pressed against Si Lan’s neck, his gaze unwavering, focusing on Si Lan’s profile. When his teeth made contact with the delicate skin, he could even feel the flow of Si Lan’s blood.

He gently bit down, and at that moment, a blinding light suddenly emanated from where his teeth met Si Lan’s skin, adhering his teeth firmly to Si Lan’s neck!

He instinctively tried to pull away but found that instead of separating, his teeth were stuck due to the slippery edge of the pool. In his struggle, he tumbled into the warm spring.

At this moment, a pair of hands supported his body, lifting him out of the water.

Startled, he raised his eyes and, from below, saw Si Lan open his long eyelashes. In the mist, his deep black eyes were clear and captivating. His small, shapely nose and translucent skin made him look like an exquisitely beautiful deity.

Haowei glanced at Si Lan’s neck, and he saw that the bite marks from the previous time were still visible.

The bite mark had scabbed and scarred in the middle, while the edges had a faint purplish tint, with traces of dried blood.

Haowei’s heart suddenly raced, and his expression remained fierce.

Si Lan, seeing this, softened his tone and asked gently, “Why did you drink my blood?”

Haowei paid no attention to Si Lan and reached to place his hand on Si Lan’s chest, intending to break the enchantment forcefully.

However, Si Lan’s gentle voice, combined with his touch, began to work on Haowei’s irritation. He hesitated, then swallowed hard, muffled by his teeth. He spoke unclearly, sounding somewhat cute in his frustration.

Si Lan watched this and softened even further. He lowered his voice and asked, “Are you a mosquito spirit?”

Haowei didn’t respond. Instead, he turned his head away, his voice cold, “Put on your clothes quickly.”

Si Lan looked down and said, “Oh, we’re both boys. Why are you shy?”

“…” Little White Dragon.

A thousand-year-old boy?

A boy who kissed his forehead the first time they met and said he wanted to make a pact with him?

Si Lan, while getting dressed, asked, “Little White Dragon, what’s your name?”

Haowei hesitated and revealed the fake name he had used during his mortal trials, “Chóng Yǐng.”

Si Lan nodded and said, “Chóng Yǐng, a few days ago, I heard someone cursing me in my divine sense. Was that you?”

Haowei replied calmly, “No.”

Si Lan didn’t press further. He always felt a sense of guilt towards the little White Dragon. After all, he had nearly drowned him in wine back then.

Fortunately, he didn’t open the bottle, or his crime would have been much more significant.

“If I had known you could transform into a human form, I wouldn’t have taken you with me. Now you’re stuck with me in this place,” Si Lan remarked while continuing to dress.

Haowei heard this and his expression softened, “I could have escaped on my own, but you held me in your arms.”

Si Lan paused in his actions, realizing that when Haowei had been afraid, he had held the little White Dragon even closer.

“Cough, don’t worry; we can survive for three days… Oh, wait, two days. A day has already passed, and time is passing quickly.”

Haowei’s expression remained neutral.

Once Si Lan finished dressing, he patted Haowei’s head. He was about to comfort him but noticed that Haowei’s two dragon horns had disappeared. So, he knelt down and remarked, “It’s interesting; your two horns can retract and extend freely. When do your dragon horns come out?”

For some reason, the red blush that had faded from Haowei’s ears earlier began to creep back, and he replied coldly, “When I’m angry.”

Si Lan raised an eyebrow, finding this quite fascinating. Were they like the furry creatures of the Long Hair Clan who puffed up when angry? Did the scaled ones raise their ears when they were upset? Perhaps, in the future, he could determine if Haowei was angry based on his horns.

Si Lan thought this was amusing and couldn’t help but gaze at Haowei with a hint of curiosity.

Haowei noticed Si Lan’s gaze, and his eyebrows furrowed.

Si Lan didn’t think much about it, opened a storage pouch, and found only a wild fruit inside. He handed it to Haowei and said, “Let’s fill our stomachs for now.”

Haowei didn’t take the fruit and cautiously inquired, “Now that you’ve lost your cultivation, what’s your plan?”

Si Lan nonchalantly replied, “I’ll study the Eight Trigrams Array first.”

The Extremely Sound Eight Trigrams Array had eight directions and a central point, each sealing one of Jiuyings’ nine heads. The seal in the central position had somehow loosened, allowing one of Jiuyings’ heads to awaken.

This head was conveniently buried in a location where Lou Yu was in seclusion, so it had set its sights on him.

Jiuyings had used various tactics, beginning with dream manipulation to make Lou Yu attempt suicide, then using Lou Yu’s flesh to cultivate the Teng-Ying flower and reforge his spine with Yun Lan. Finally, they involved Quze to deceive Si Lan into breaking his own cultivation.

The planning was intricate and step-by-step.

Inside the Extremely Sound Eight Trigrams Array, there were over ten thousand illusory scenarios. Accidentally triggering a mechanism could lead to random teleportation to another illusion.

Originally, Jiuying had set up this formation to permanently imprison themselves, but they hadn’t expected it to be used against them after many years.

Si Lan used a small stone to draw a Yin-Yang Eight Trigrams pattern on the ground. When he aligned the black dot in the pattern with the Hexagram of Li, the illusion in front of them suddenly changed, and they found themselves in a large hall.

The spacious hall had nothing but a half-carved dragon on the ceiling. It appeared unfinished, and Jiuying might have sculpted it themselves.

Were they in the process of restoring something?

Si Lan puzzled, “But didn’t Jiuying personally kill Bia…”

Chapter 95 – Who Says Omegas Can’t be as Explosive as Alphas

Chapter 95

The upcoming elimination matches were divided into two stages. In the first stage, all players who successfully advanced were divided into two groups, A and B, and they would compete within their respective groups to select the last surviving 20 individuals who would advance to the next stage. In the subsequent second stage, a 1-on-1 competition would unfold among these 40 individuals until only the final two remained, entering the decisive grand finals.

In short, the finals to determine the champion of this competition was drawing closer.

After the group results were announced, Lu Jingning eagerly checked the official tournament website and was delighted to find that the three members of their Special Imperial Navy Team could finally meet successfully.

Another reason for joy was that Bai Chen, that pest, was placed in another group, completely out of his sight.

Lu Jingning was overjoyed and couldn’t help but hum a little tune while walking.

As for Yan Hebin, he was naturally very satisfied with these results. Having teammates by his side meant that he no longer needed to rack his brains to figure out how to survive until the end.

One had to admit that clinging to a big shot made things much easier.

What was strange was that, from the moment the results were announced, Wen Xingchen seemed to be in a good mood.

When Wen Ye passed by him, he couldn’t help but stop and examine him, finally coming up with the most likely reason, “Xingchen, did you win the lottery?”

Wen Xingchen controlled the curve of his lips and responded, “…”

Wen Ye was about to say something more but was pulled away by Shang Yunlin, who hooked his shoulder and walked outside, saying as they went, “Young people have their own thoughts, perhaps he’s just excited before the match. Don’t worry too much.”

Wen Ye thought about it and found that what Shang Yunlin said made sense. He was led away for a few steps before he remembered to ask, “Where are you taking me?”

Shang Yunlin smiled faintly, “I found a nice dessert shop nearby, I want to try it together.”

Lu Jingning stared at the two of them as they walked away for a while, unable to help but lean over to Wen Xingchen and ask, “What’s going on with my idol and the president? Is there some secret?”

After waiting for a while and not getting a response from the person beside him, he turned to Wen Xingchen and asked, “Why are you looking at me like that?”

Wen Xingchen’s lips curved slightly, and the corners of his eyebrows raised, “I’m thinking that, besides your own affairs, you seem to have an unusually keen sense of gossip about other people.”

“…” Lu Jingning couldn’t miss the teasing in his tone, so after a moment of silence, he asked directly, “Wen Ge, have you been holding a grudge against me for a long time?”

Wen Xingchen asked, “What do you mean?”

Lu Jingning said, “Do you know that your tone right now is very much like a jealous and resentful woman?”

Wen Xingchen’s eyelashes lowered slightly, and this time it was his turn to fall silent.

Lu Jingning couldn’t help it when he saw the other person fall silent because of his remark and danced around a bit, “This won’t do! Wen Ge, as an Alpha, shouldn’t you be more generous? The past is the past, and I admit that I did wrong you at that time. But now, I’ve thought deeply about it, and I’ve decided to take responsibility for you for the rest of my life, haven’t I?”

“More generous?” Wen Xingchen leaned forward slightly, looking at him closely from a short distance, and the corner of his lips lightly curved. “Apart from your own affairs, it seems that you have a particularly keen sense of gossip about other people.”

Wen Xingchen leaned in slightly, his gaze locked onto Lu Jingning’s eyes, and his fingers gently played with the ends of his hair, much like teasing a little cat.

His tone was casual, as if he was discussing some everyday matters, “If you have time, could you please help me create a couple’s thread on the school forum? You’re more experienced in hyping things up, so feel free to make it as exciting as you can. Remember to emphasize their relationship.”

Adding to that, seemingly nonchalant under Lu Jingning’s intense gaze, he added, “Tomorrow afternoon is our next match. Don’t forget to get your classmates to support us on the live stream. Sometimes, we need the love and support of our fellow students, don’t you think?”

Jiang Luan, a seasoned player in the game of love, was completely shocked by this unexpected request. It took him a while to regain his composure and respond, “Hold on a second.”

The communication was instantly cut off.

A moment later, a holographic video call invitation appeared from the other side.

After Wen Xingchen confirmed it, he looked at the image of his friend in the virtual space and furrowed his brow, “Is there anything else?”

Jiang Luan, who had originally intended to say something like “blink your eyes if you’ve been kidnapped,” was taken aback when he saw Lu Jingning lying in Wen Xingchen’s arms. He hesitated for a moment and then said, “No! Nothing at all! I’m on my way!”

As soon as he finished speaking, the video call was cut off again.

Wen Xingchen looked at Lu Jingning and asked with a puzzled expression, “What’s wrong with Jiang Luan?”

Lu Jingning nudged him gently with his elbow and couldn’t help but burst into laughter. “What’s going on, Wen Ge? You’re possessive to this extent? If something happens next time, do you plan to lock me in a small room, like a gilded cage?”

Wen Xingchen looked at Lu Jingning’s cheeky expression and raised his jaw slightly. He gently kissed him, their breath entwining in the air. “I can’t bear to lock you up, but it might not be a bad idea to lock us together with handcuffs if it’s possible.”

Lu Jingning imagined such a scene and commented sincerely, “It feels… pretty kinky…”

He glanced up at Wen Xingchen’s incredibly handsome features, and in the next moment, his lips involuntarily curled up. “But, if I can be locked with you for a lifetime, it somehow feels a bit thrilling?”

Wen Xingchen gently held Lu Jingning’s back with one hand, and with a little force, he pulled the whole person into his embrace. “Then, let’s lock ourselves together for a lifetime.”

Today, the forum of the Imperial Navy Academy was in a frenzy.

All of it was due to a sudden exposure post that appeared out of nowhere, as if a bolt from the blue, which instantly drew all the lurkers out.

Before this, discussions about Lu Jingning and Wen Xingchen’s couple pair had been popular on the forum for a long time. But no one had ever come forward like this anonymous poster, revealing heavy-duty news that they were officially a couple!

One was the absolute genius among the Alphas, while the other was an unprecedented powerhouse among Omegas. While everyone enjoyed shipping the two of them, deep down, they secretly hoped that these two would have a head-on clash someday to determine who was the true No.1 in this new generation.

And now, they were being told that, in a place they had no knowledge of, an Alpha and an Omega were already together?

Before they could even wait for the poster to provide evidence, the comments on the post exploded.

[??? Where did this insider information come from? Don’t spread rumors just because you’re anonymous!]

[Though I do think they’re a perfect match, I’m going to be a rational observer.]

[ I was still debating who between them would be better as my husband. Now they’re telling me they’re together?]

[ Ahhh, veteran couple shipper here to report for duty! I’m so excited!!!]

[ I don’t believe it. How could an Omega like Lu Jingning be taken by an Alpha?]

[ Two S-tier individuals together? Can Wen Xingchen handle it? Lu Jingning is the one, after all, right?!]

[ Upstairs, stop talking… Suddenly I remembered the fear of being controlled by Lu Jingning’s pheromones.]

As the anonymous poster who was busy behind the scenes, Jiang Luan was immersed in sorting through materials and didn’t notice the towering skyscr4p3r of a thread that had risen.

When he was about to upload the next set of content, he found that the post had already spanned three pages.

On one hand, he was deeply impressed by the overwhelming popularity of these two top players in the Imperial Navy.

On the other hand, he swiftly and decisively uploaded all the photos he had, one after another.

These photos, of course, weren’t privately stored by Jiang Luan; he wouldn’t dare to do that no matter how much courage he had. After all, he wasn’t interested in ending his life prematurely.

These were all photos that Wen Xingchen had just transmitted to him through the terminal, along with extensive segments of their interactions.

To be honest, if Jiang Luan hadn’t experienced this himself, he wouldn’t have been able to comprehend how strong Wen Xingchen’s determination to come out as a couple was.

As the number of photos and the story behind their relationship were uploaded, the entire post exploded once again.

[Ahhh, I’ve actually witnessed this! Sisters, I’ve reached enlightenment!!!]

[So sweet, so sweet, so sweet. What kind of divine love is this?]

[Timidly raising my hand, I was on the mother ship of the Interstellar Pirates at the time, waiting for this for so long, and finally, I can enjoy the sugar directly!]

[What a dreamy soap opera plot! Born with compatible pheromones, when will I meet my true Alpha?]

[Talking about compatibility, my mind suddenly wandered off to the Harmony Light Cruiser?]

[Is the match tomorrow? It’s tomorrow, right? I must go and cheer for them!]

[What kind of insane power couple is this? I can’t even!]

Wen Xingchen, who was in the hotel, calmly looked through the post and found his mood becoming increasingly joyful. Finally, he handed it over to Lu Jingning.

Lu Jingning glanced at it and felt like he had gained a new understanding of this person’s level of immaturity. He asked in a speechless tone, “Wen Ge, are you happy?”

Wen Xingchen replied, “I’m happy.”

Lu Jingning mimicked the tone Wen Xingchen used to comfort him in the past, saying, “Alright, if you’re happy, I’m happy.”

Wen Xingchen leaned against the head of the bed, looking at him from the corner of his eye, and said, “Would you consider making me even happier?”

Lu Jingning asked sincerely, “How should I do that?”

Wen Xingchen curled the corner of his mouth, revealing a faint smile, and said, “You’ll find out tomorrow.”

Chapter 80 – Humankind is too generous

Chapter 80 – Humankind is too generous

Uncle decided to save Jian Luo’s aesthetic sense: “Luo Luo… are you sure this really has little meat, and it will taste good when cooked?”

Jian Luo looked at the crayfish inside the box, waving its little pincers. Its two dark eyes seemed even cuter, and he grinned, saying, “Look how cute it is. How can it not be delicious?”

“…”

Uncle hesitated for a moment.

But Jian Luo’s cooking skills gave him some confidence, so he said, “Luo Luo, do you want to give it a try?”

Jian Luo wanted to try, and in fact, cooking crayfish wasn’t that difficult. The best part was that you could cook them all in one pot, making it very convenient, especially since the soldiers had just finished their exercise. If they came back and all had some crayfish, wouldn’t it be a delightful meal?

With this in mind, Jian Luo asked the soldier, “How many of these did you confiscate?”

The soldier didn’t treat Jian Luo differently because he was a human but answered honestly, “A lot, there were probably several frozen storage rooms on one warship. These are invasive species, and they tried to transport them to other planets to harm the ecosystem.”

Uncle nodded, “These crayfish not only harm the environment but also have culinary value.”

Jian Luo smiled, “Let me give it a try. How about I prepare this box first and give you a taste? If you like it, I can make more.”

Secretary Jin walked over, “Luo Luo, won’t you be too tired?”

As soon as this was mentioned, everyone looked at Jian Luo’s belly. It was already five or six months old, and his lower abdomen had a noticeable size, like a small hill, but his limbs were very slender, only his belly had grown a bit, making it quite prominent.

In fact, everyone knew that fetuses were fragile, but they couldn’t help but worry if he would tire himself out.

Jian Luo looked at the crayfish, and his attitude began to change dramatically, “No, I’m not tired.”

Uncle said, “Let me help you, Luo Luo.”

“Okay.”

Since it seemed like it had been a long time since there was a live broadcast here, Jian Luo thought he could livestream it. After getting Uncle’s permission, he started the livestream.

When he opened the information terminal, he received a private message from Jiang Jiang: “I’m sorry, Luo Luo, that ad might cause you trouble.”

Jian Luo smiled, “It doesn’t matter. I revealed it when I was still in school. It doesn’t have anything to do with you. Besides, this will be exposed sooner or later; it’s just a matter of time.”

Jiang Jiang had messaged him yesterday, so Jian Luo replied to Jiang Jiang’s message promptly.

Jian Luo tidied up a bit and then pressed the livestream button.

The little circle started working diligently. Almost as soon as the livestream started, the viewership began to skyrocket. It had just reached two million, and the numbers were still climbing rapidly.

Jian Luo greeted everyone as usual, “Hello, everyone. I’m Jian Luo, and today we’re going to eat crayfish.”

The viewers didn’t really care about what they were eating:

“Is the host really pregnant?”

“Whose noble offspring are you carrying? Can we see the baby?”

“Can you eat this? Is it safe for a pregnant man to eat?”

“Please take care of your health, host. Don’t overexert yourself.”

The chat was bustling, and gifts and fireworks were constantly exploding on the screen.

Jian Luo was cleaning the crayfish. Uncle and Secretary Jin were helping on the side, so he didn’t need to do much with his hands. He mainly gave instructions, “Handling crayfish requires some skill. First, make sure to clean the tails thoroughly, and then remove the intestinal vein.”

These were all delicate preparations.

While they were cleaning the crayfish, Jian Luo prepared the ingredients on the side. First, there were the chilies; there had to be enough of them since the key to spicy crayfish was spiciness. So, he prepared plenty of seasoning.

“We’ve made shrimp strips before,” Jian Luo said casually. “When we made shrimp strips, I explained the method for handling shrimp. Today, the main focus is on the seasonings.”

Chilies, garlic, salt.

The green onions were chopped, and the chilies were cut as well.

Finally, the audience in the livestream started paying attention to the ingredients:

“Can you eat crayfish?”

“There are articles on the star network about how to eat these creatures.”

“I remember them as invasive species.”

The reason Jian Luo’s livestream had such a following wasn’t just because he was pregnant; it was also because his ideas were always daring and full of energy, always surprising people. Each time, he took a different approach, giving a sense of novelty.

On the other side, the crayfish had already been cleaned by Secretary Jin. She made a gesture to Jian Luo.

Jian Luo said to Uncle, “You can steam them on top of the steamer now.”

“You don’t need to add anything else,” Jian Luo addressed the camera, “Just place them on top to steam.”

Because this method had been tried by the kitchen chefs as well, but the texture wasn’t ideal, there was some suspense as they watched Jian Luo use it, and they looked at him with some concern, but Jian Luo just smiled confidently.

Not only was he curious about it, but the soldiers were too.

The soldier responsible for bringing the food back came back empty-handed, which piqued everyone’s curiosity, “Did you bring back the food?”

The soldier nodded, “Yes, and… Mr. Jian Luo wanted to keep some.”

Lu Shifeng nodded, his voice lazy but unmistakable, “Hmm, have the remaining confiscated items collected and retained.”

The others exchanged glances privately.

In the past, they rarely confiscated anything valuable during operations. Generally, General Lu would dismiss them, or they would be destroyed on-site.

As the top military power in the universe, Darkstar naturally had its strengths. They had an abundance of weapons and equipment, and their technology and weaponry were in a league of their own. They might have confiscated some ingredients in the past, but given General Lu Shifeng’s extremely picky palate, there weren’t many things he took a liking to.

The fact that they were keeping crayfish this time required no further explanation.

Finally, Lu Shifeng turned to his adjutant and said softly, “You personally handle it.”

The adjutant lowered his head and replied, “Yes.”

Inside the kitchen, the crayfish were already prepared, and the crayfish in the pot had gradually matured. They exuded a strong allure in the vibrant red broth. The spicy flavor mixed with the unique deliciousness of the crayfish wafted through the air, making people involuntarily salivate.

Jian Luo was busy eating, deftly peeling crayfish and handing them to Secretary Jin and Uncle.

The viewers in the livestream were enticed by the aroma:

“Host, we want to eat too.”

“Ah, please eat first, we want to taste the flavor.”

“I can’t wait anymore.”

Jian Luo leaned against the stove and asked Secretary Jin and Uncle, “How does it taste?”

Secretary Jin wiped her lips after finishing one and went to wash her hands, “No need to ask me, I’ll peel my own.”

The uncle nodded, “It’s delicious.”

In fact, dragons also knew how to enjoy life, and it was ingrained in their genes to do so. Long ago, dragons enjoyed collecting treasures to make themselves happy. They enjoyed combat and the thrill of the battlefield, so they chose to be soldiers.

Dragons were known for being carefree and knowing how to indulge in pleasures.

Jian Luo said, “If you think the taste is good, we can ask them to bring more crayfish later. The broth can be used again, and I’ve already taught you the method, Uncle.”

Uncle nodded, “Alright, I’ll do it. You shouldn’t tire yourself out; go rest.”

Jian Luo smiled and stood up, packing some crayfish in a box. He said, “Can I take some with me?”

Secretary Jin nodded, “Of course, take it.”

As Jian Luo was packing the box, he heard Secretary Jin ask, “Are you taking it back to eat?”

“I’m full,” Jian Luo said, holding the box. “I’m taking it back for the dragons to taste.”

Secretary Jin agreed wholeheartedly and gave him a thumbs up, “Go for it.”

In fact, General Lu Shifeng had a strong temper. During marches, the entire army would be on edge, and the pressure was immense. But with Jian Luo around, the situation improved. As the saying goes, “When the king is happy, the people enjoy good fortune.” It all depended on the efforts of the king’s beloved concubine!

As time passed, more and more soldiers came to the cafeteria in groups.

“I heard they made crayfish from today’s confiscation.”

“What’s so special about crayfish?”

“Those are things humans like. True dragons should eat potato casserole.”

“It was made by Jian Luo. It seems this tiny human likes things that get stuck in your teeth.”

The crowd entered the cafeteria and were immediately stunned by the delicious aroma of the crayfish. Who could resist the tantalizing scent and mouthwatering taste of the vibrant red broth, mixed with a spicy kick?

For a moment, everyone paused, and the soldiers exchanged glances.

After a while, someone spoke up, “True dragons should eat crayfish.”

“I don’t want potato casserole anymore.”

“These tiny humans are quite cute, I’m sure they’re very tender.”

“Yeah, I’m worried I might accidentally crush her with my dragon form.”

“…”
